And that's when he feels your teeth on his cheek, biting him out of the blue, and definitely not in a gentle way.

Anyway, hes super duper shocked and confused; like, what the hell? This has literally never happened to him! How should he even react!?

Ons chapter 135 thoughts!!

Spoilers duh (also very long post. Lmk if I should add the read more cut)

- KAGAMI I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD IT IN YOU TO GIVE CHESS AND HORN MORE SCREENTIME BUT THANK YOU ANYWAYS

- I am so glad that the whole digestion thing is more symbolical bc... that inital wording really threw me off lmao

- on that note, the immagery of the dead trees with the bodies sticking out of 'em... very creepy and on point, I think it's neat

- they actually adressed Crowley forgetting them! Wowzers (side note she looks hella adorable. My little skrunkly)

- ouugh the dynamic... where was it earlier? It seems so much more casual than during the Nagoya arc (probably just wishful thinking on my part lmao)... idc how give us more of this

- "you two were my first servants", LORE CRUMBS! I guess.

- wait so, they're still becoming demons? But isn't that a form of reincarnation, the thing Ferid is specifically trying to stop? But he's also devouring them... to absorb their power I guess? Since later on Ferid mentions now being more powerful after devouring Crowley (I'll get to that asspull later)

- Also Horn looks a teensy bit weird with the new artstyle but she's still super pretty 🫶 be my wife pls

- So, 16 year old Ferid is inside himself as his 'true self'? I assume that because he got the idea to stop reincarnation when he was 16 and hasn't changed his mind since (never let 16 year olds make big decisions in this world, it only leads to disaster)

- the skrunkle part 2. Also I doubt being digested like that feels good in any way. And with how slow it's supposed to be, yikes.

- I have a theory (aka major amounts of copium): Yuu will bust in and save Crowley because of 'fAmiLy' and also save Chess and Horn since they're family by association

- No one can reach Ferid, eh? And then Corwley's voice reaches him. Kagami and his queerbaiting amirite

- However Ferid then snags Crowley and ig he's on the priority list of getting devoured. Probably bc he's the strongest vampire Ferid has eaten. Cannibalism as a metaphor for love and devotion or whatever, except it's very literal and I doubt there's any love beyond 'u and interesting critter dude' from both sides

- Ok here's my major nitpick with this chapter: KAGAMI STOP BREAKING AND BENDING YOUR OWN FUCKING WORLDBUILDING AND POWER SYTEMS. Until now it was established that a vampires strenght is dependant on 1. their rank (as in who's blood turned them) and 2. their age. But now appearantly Ferid can eat vampires and absorb their strenght? If this was some universal but very difficult thing for any vampire to do, then I wouldn't be this salty. Also one of my favourite things about Ferid as an antagonist was, that power-wise he was on the weaker side. Despite being 'weak' he was still a major threat. He made up for his lack in actual fighting power with smarts and immaculate planning. But now he's another uber-strong genius. C'mon we already had Shikama and Rigr for that department. Bleh.

- now for the Yuu / Rigr and co confrontation, it's fiiiiine. I guess. At least Shikama is still somewhat of a formidable threat. Not to the major characters obviously but yk, it's something.

- rip Basteya. You showed up, slayed for a little and died.

- Kirsten still looks fugly as hell lmao

- so do Ulrich and Roger

- So, who will be faster: Shinoa in absorbing Shikama or Yuu in saving him? My bet is on Yuu purley bc he's supposed to be the main character but ig we'll see next chapter

- KRUL!!! AND THE BAT THING I FORGOT IT'S NAME

- sadly no Ferid / Krul brawl this chapter but yk what makes me excited for next chapter

- my guess is that now Krul is Ferids next target to be chomped. Hopefully she will beat his ass. Like when she first appeared. Ahhh the good old times

"are we almost there yet??" you ask hobie for the hundredth time in the past five minutes

he chuckles and looks over at you as he's driving, "almost, love. about ten more minutes, yeah?"

you groan and look at your window "where are we going, anyways?" you look excitedly at him

"cant tell ya. it's a surprise, you'll love it though. turn on some music to keep ya occupied for a bit."

jokingly rolling your eyes, you smile and turn up the radio

ten minutes later

hobie pulls the car into the parking lot as you try to decipher the surroundings around you

"oh my god, hobie did you bring us to the aquarium??" you show off a wide grin and look over at him

"well, yeah, ya gonna be a marine biologist, arent ya? figured you must love sea animals and brought ya here. happy, love?"

you kiss his cheek and look back at your window

"only the happiest in the world! i cant believe you remembered!"

"why wouldn't i? you're the love of my life aren't ya?" he teasingly says, looking back over at you

you both get out of the car and head towards the aquarium's entrance

as you two walk, hobie grabs your hand to intertwine it with his own

"excited?" he asks as he looks at you

"well, obviouslyyy...!" you smile as you finally walk into the aquarium, admiring how it's decorated and looking at everybody as they gaze into the tanks

hobie chuckled at how mesmerized you looked "cmon then." he gently took your hand and you both walked over to where a certain species of fish were

you gasped and started to ramble about fun facts on the fish that you two were looking at

"these are angelfish! they can get as big as six inches and they will literally eat anything that they can fit in their mouth."

he laughed and smiled at your excitement "ya sure know your stuff, don't ya?"

as you continued telling hobie about all of the different fish and cool facts about them, you reached the stingray petting area.

"oh my god i've always wanted to pet one of these!! did you know that stingrays are considered to be apart of the same group as sharks??"

hobie gives you a quick kiss "no i didn't, thanks for telling me, love" he wanted to say so much more, but he thought it would seem a bit dramatic to praise you over your fish facts. he was thinking stuff like, "y/n is so cool..how do they know about all of this?? they look so adorable when they're excited!"

as you reach the stingray tank, you stick your hand in the water to pet a stingray

"feel how bumpy their skin is, isn't it awesome??" you were absolutely stoked and hobie was just admiring your utter excitement

he put his hand in and felt of the stingray just as you were

"i thought that they 'ad smooth skin." he states, smiling

"a lot of people do, but their skin is actually rough and the scales on it acts as teeth!"

hobie was genuinely surprised and nodded " 'at's pretty amazin', isn't it?"

he already knew the answer

you smiled and nodded as you took your hand out of the water and dried it off

he did the same and took your hand again

"looks like we've almost finished it up, we've got the sharks and then we can make our way to the gift shop, yeah?"

you agreed and walked with him, smiling as you also admired how cool the ocean themed decorations were in the aquarium (didn't expect that, did you⁉️😈)

as you and hobie finished up looking (and as you finished teaching him about them) at all of the different sharks, you stepped into the gift shop)

you looked at all of the plushies and gasped

"look at how adorable these are!" you exclaimed and beckoned for hobie to come over and look at the stuffed shark you had found in a bin

suddenly, a spinning rack catches your eye and you put the stuffed shark back, and hobie chuckles to himself and followed you over to the stand

you grabbed two matching earring pairs that were shaped as a fish (each pair sets had a different fish that matched with the other, almost looking like two had been switched. when is it my turn to be happy???? 😭)

you looked at him with puppy eyes

"can we pleeeaaasseee get these couple earrings??? look, they're shaped like little fishhhh, cmonnn!" you said this excitingly and looked up at him

"i cant say no to that, can i?" he smiled and you walked to the cash register and payed for the matching earrings and you both put them in, putting the earrings you both had previously had in inside of your pockets

[timeskip: a few days later (you and hobie had went to go eat with miles, gwen, and pavitr)]

you and hobie were sitting at a table with miles, gwen, and pavitr as you all talked and laughed

"sooo, what's up with the earrings?" gwen asked teasingly, smiling as miles and pavitr giggled a little

"oh, me and hobie got them at the aquarium a few days ago!" you grinned

"i thought hobie didn't li-" pavitr was cut off as hobie covered his mouth

"yeah, we did. it was lovely, who knew sea creatures were so interestin'?" hobie smiled as he continued to cover pavitrs mouth while you grinned happily

"oookay, lovebirds" gwen replied and started to talk to miles

you and hobie quickly kissed and began to chat some more with each other, while hobie still covered pavitrs mouth

note: this only consists of tate, kit, kyle, jimmy, jpm, rory and kai— their seasons are the only ones i've watched LMAO. they're also the only ones i think would listen to the monkeys.

tate langdon - favorite worst nightmare

-he's definitely a big fwn guy, alex turner wrote 'do me a favor' just for him I JUST KNOW IT. the album title fits him too.

-he found out about arctic monkeys through you when he was looking at your spotify playlist. he found the band name a little bit silly so he played it but to his surprise, he actually liked it.

-his favorite songs have to be brianstorm and d is for dangerous.

-he probably also like 'humbug' and 'whatever people say i am, that's what i'm not'.

kit walker - the car

-not so sure about this but considering that he works at a gas station, 'the car' kinda fits him and it also sounds kinda old and funky so i think kit would like that

-he probably listens to arctic monkeys when you play it in your record player. he wasn't really a big fan of it at first but he grew into it and the band reminds him alot about you so he really likes it now.

-he heard 'am' through the local radio and really liked it. he sings 'r u mine?' for you in one of his performances on the freak show, and you absolutely love it.

-one of his favorites are 'do i wanna know?', 'fireside', and 'snap out of it', but absolutely despises 'why'd you only call me when you're high?' because he says "the lyrics are too real".

-jimmy stays loyal to his beloved 'am', probably because he doesn't know other albums exist, you're trying to get him into 'sias' though.

james patrick march - tranquility base hotel and casino

-james adores 'tbhc', he thinks the storytelling and the story itself is genius. but even how much he likes it, he wouldn't be caught alive listening to it (probably because he's dead).

-he first listened to the monkeys when you asked him to play something that isn't jazz. you forced him to spin one of your records, so he picked 'tbhc' because he found the title intriguing. he loves it but would never admit to you.

-'star treatment', 'one point perspective', and the title track are always on repeat for him. he thinks 'golden trunks' are the two of yous' song.

-james probably doesn't explore the arctic monkeys much, he listened to 'the car' but it was too modern for his taste.

rory monahan - suck it and see

-assuming that rory lives in california, he would definitely listen to "sias'. he also fits the album's aesthetic very well.

-you both discovered arctic monkeys at a record store. he picked 'suck it and see' as a joke and because he's a borny little shit. to his surprise, he ended up liking it though.

-'black treacle', 'piledriver waltz', and the title track are his favorites. you'd both debate on which one is better: the 'sias' version of 'piledriver waltz' or alex turner's version, he always defends the 'sias' version for some reason.

-he probably listens to the other albums but not as much as he does to 'sias'.

kai anderson - am

-he doesn't listen to 'am' that much, he doesn't listen to music that much in general. he thinks it's something sacred and should only be listened to when doing something holy, like creating a messiah with your sister through your gay boy toy twink cult member.

-he discovered 'am' through the internet, and plays it typically when he works out or attempting to "create a messiah" with you.

-he only listens to 'do i wanna know' because it's average republican behavior—he also only listens to mainstream music so like it's the only song he knows.

-as i said, mainstream music type of guy, so definitely only am.

Sure sure, Daniel has a bratty, sassy, flirty ‘Jersey’ side—but folks seem to forget just how sweet, earnest, naive, and innocent he was in the KK trilogy. One of my favourite scenes is in the first film at the start, when Daniel sees a dog in his flat complex and moments later fetches water for it—without being asked! What an angel. Anyway, this sweet innocence is probably why Terry had him totally blindsided for a while in KK3, and did it with such ease. And because Silverusso has always had my heart, let’s not forget this clueless, adorable Danny is exactly the one that piqued Terry’s demented, decades long obsession. That sweet and spicy combination is just so winning—along with the looks. I don’t blame Terry for being totally overwhelmed by the boy, it was inevitable. Terry Silver is the very definition of whipped. Lol.

Yes! Completely agree. Daniel is a perfect mix of tough but sweet. Slutty but innocent. It's a maddening blend.

He stands out. Unforgettable to everyone he's ever met even 35yrs later.

Oh, anon, are you me? Daniel giving the dog some water is one of my all time favorite scenes too!!

It's so subtle. Miyagi saw that in him. When he gifted Daniel the bonsai embroidery and Daniel said he'd understand if Miyagi ever wanted it back. And Miyagi smiled, "I know you understand." HUUUUU 😭 brb crying

There's other sweet examples, but Daniel is so thoughtful!! The most thoughtful and considerate.

Sure, his temper can override that sometimes, but even though he has attitude, he remains observant and so empathetic that he feels guilty about everything and can't sleep unless he apologizes.

That's a sensitive soul who never wanted to fight anyone and ended up constantly under attack. But look how much everyone loves him and will do anything for him. HIS LOVE SAVES PEOPLE. His forgiveness. He's truly a light.

Not to get off track but, another favorite innocent moment of mine is in kk2 when they're getting on the airplane and Daniel goes, "Airsick? What's airsick?!" :U

Just super loud and confused. Lmao

Again speaks to his innocence at that time. Maybe more Jersey street smarts than book smarts but the poor baby went through like a lifetime of maturity in one year because of the events of all three movies.

A little heartbreaking that CK Daniel is so... world weary. He's quieter. He's more observant. Meaning, he's more calculated in every interaction. Ten times smarter than when he was a kid.

I definitely blame Terry for that. He broke Daniel's heart. And according to Jessica, it took him some time to recover. (Although we know it was not completely)

Luckily for everyone, Daniel is such an angel that he never lost his sweetness or his instinct to help others even if he is cautious. He's willing to forgive but he tried his damndest to become people and business savvy as to never get hurt again.

He's intelligent. He's refined. He's a leader.

The irony that the parts of Daniel that Terry liked best he helped destroy. That trust and innocence. The irony that Terry was denied the forgiving nature of Daniel he knows is there because of his own actions.

Terry remembered that sweet, naive boy and imagined being forgiven right away and was legit shocked at Daniel's anger. Not necessarily at the rejection, but at Daniel's angerrr.

Daniel's comment about Terry being in a padded cell really struck a nerve.

I will say this - both men would not have such hurt and anger after 35 YEARS if there was no love involved at all.

The reason Daniel could forgive everyone else was because he never loved them. They were never friends.

He loved Terry. He mourned someone who never existed. And Terry wouldn't care so much about being forgiven if he felt nothing either.

One day someone will have to do a gifset of all the times Terry and Daniel eye-fucked each other in CK. There were so many secret smiles y'all.

I think they missed each other as much as they're mad at each other.

This sweet innocence is probably why Terry had him totally blindsided for a while in KK3, and did it with such ease. And because Silverusso has always had my heart, let’s not forget this clueless, adorable Danny is exactly the one that piqued Terry’s demented, decades long obsession.

Let's think for a moment the picture that Kreese painted to Terry about this "punk kid" and his sensei.

Some prissy troublemaker that unfairly beat up the Cobra Kai students and made a fool of Kreese.

Then Terry meets Daniel and he's tiny and sweet and can barely meet Terry's eyes.

They spent months together. Terry's not stupid, he quickly learned the truth. He just desperately wanted to make Kreese happy.

And then years later, we see that Terry doesn't believe Kreese about the past anymore. He scoffs and rolls his eyes!

And if Terry was being honest with himself, he'd admit that he wanted to be a sensei(but couldn't because of his father's business) and loved having his own student. I and others think he was a little hurt when Daniel didn't want to be in Cobra Kai anymore and quit.

👑 Favorite version of Zelda?

Honestly really hard to pick just one. I like BotW/TotK Zelda a lot because she has such a fantastic arc and you really feel for her and her story plus I find her very relatable...

Spirit Tracks Zelda is easily among my favorites too, her being a ghost and your companion makes her SO unique and she's really funny and cute and has one of the best relationships with her Link, and she also gets to shine in combat, too!

Skyward Sword Zelda also set the standard for her backstory and I think she's so likable but I do wish we saw more of her in general...

Ocarina of Time Zelda had such a cool story what with messing with forces she didn't necessarily understand while trying to plot against Ganondorf even though she was just a kid, not to MENTION the Sheik reveal which is just iconic tbh.

Both for Hyrule Warriors and Wind Waker I don't have much to say in general about them but I still really like their take charge, more active attitudes! I do hate how they lighten Tetra's skin color and remove her from being active in the plot when the reveal comes though... you hate to see it!

Twilight Princess Zelda... what can I say, she is an elegant sapphic icon and she will always be famous. I was a bit ticked off when they changed out her for ALBW Zelda in Smash because I think she is much more memorable.

I would be remiss not to mention Wand of Gamelon Zelda at least a lil' bit too... Idk she's cute and cheesy and I'm not sorry for including her. Maybe if Nintendo made her actually playable in their games I wouldn't have to do it but 💅

Probably a Hylian boringly enough but I would kill to be one of those occasional enemies that does their own thing for some reason, like... I could be a wolfperson who can't eat their yogurt until you trade me a spoon for my boomerang or whatever.

Villain-wise, I love Hilda... she was clearly in the wrong but my god I can completely understand the desperation... Twinrova also I ALWAYS adore seeing whenever they pop up - I love me some comically evil grannies. Ghirahim and Yuga heard "slay" and said "this has multiple meanings and I'll do all of them," and honestly Ganon(dorf) is super cool always but I particularly enjoy his portrayals in ALttP, OoT, WW and TP. Shoutout to Veran and Onox too for variety's sake.

Too many cool bosses to mention but Koloktos is still my fave.

🧚 Favorite Zelda companion?

Uh-Oh... Here's the thing about me - I'm an Annoying Companion Enjoyer (tm) and I don't think I dislike any of them, even the infamous ones. Navi is my girl she was just trying to help and everyone attacks her and attacks her and attacks her... ungrateful behavior.

Tatl is so iconic and funny, I will always be mad they kinda toned down her mean girl-ness in the 3DS remake, even though I get that some of it was for accessibility reasons since a lot of her og comments just weren't helpful at all lmao... tho I think they could have struck a better balance.

Ciela is SO underrated, honestly. She had a good arc and I love her bickering with Linebeck so much.

Midna has the best story out of all of them and everything about her is excellence from her design to her attitude to her relationship with Link and Zelda... ugh she is so good, I miss her.

I've already said my piece about Zelda in Spirit Tracks BUT WHO CARES, HER AGAIN!!!

Fi is the only one who actually made me sob in real life from her last scene and I really enjoy her design and her dances and I genuinely think people forget how sassy she could be sometimes, not to mention being the actual Master Sword - I was ecstatic when they hinted at her existence again in BotW and TotK :)

👍 Favorite Zelda Headcanons?

The Triforce being in flux and changing aspects between its wielders in some games, like Zelda in BotW potentially holding Courage since her key scene was going up alone against Calamity Ganon and Link's usage of the runes and primary association with Blue could tie to him bearing Wisdom in them. If not just headcanon, I think it's a prime idea for fan content.

This one also maybe doesn't count as a headcanon per se but... the Zelda Timelines... I greatly enjoy speculating around them but I do believe taking it too seriously is generally just bunk. I don't think even the developers take them as a wholly 100% accurate and important deal and I think that's actually completely fine. I am an ALttP->Link's Awakening->Oracle Games truther btw.

I need an explanation about why mike can't write or say "i love you" (the monologue is not an excuse for me tbh) and explanation as to why he and el DIDNT talk at all after the monologue. if byeler isn't going to be canon than why still have the audience show mike and el NOT interact even after the "monologue"...... like. HELLO? i don't have the ending scenes of the last ep of vol2 memorized but. doesn't will ask about mike and el, and mike says something along the lines of "oh yeah we havent really talked since then" or some bullshit. and then the last two scenes are with him and will in the cabin (and the shoulder grab) and the field with the two of them next to each other. if milevens were truly winning (they can NOT say that about the monologue to save their asses), wouldn't they make mike and el have a deep emotional conversation after they go to hawkins? a hug? holding hands? anything??????? but what's canon is the fact they DIDNT even talk about their relationship. and mike is there with will at the end. it's not even like i'm grasping at straws here, this is what we've literally been given! as much as i adore focusing on will's side of byeler, it's deeply clear looking at mike's connection to el is dissolving in front of our faces, and how mike's behaviors shed a new light on his relationships with both el and will.

THIS!!! honestly, the timeskip at the very end of vol 2 gave me complete whiplash.

here’s the thing: if that monologue was actually supposed to fix melvin’s relationship (yeesh…), they should NOT have ended vol 2 the way they did at all. we should’ve seen a heart-to-heart between mike and el, we should’ve seen them talk everything through after the dust settled. instead we see el distancing herself from mike, yet another BYLER heart-to-heart, and then, of course, the iconic final shot that foreshadows the endgame couples.

the only (and i mean ONLY) explanation i can possibly think of if melvin is still meant to be endgame is that they plan on dragging the “mike can’t say i love you” conflict out even further, all the way to the s5 climax, which would just be ridiculous. it already felt dragged out in s4 (if you weren’t looking at it through the byler lense), and using that same conflict to create even more drama for the main couple that’s already hanging by a thread as it is is… insane to me lmao.

in conclusion, u right anon. i need explanations for these things too.

oh, no problem friend! so basically, last year, during my last semester at school -- which is when i started peppermint, actually! -- i got my teaching credential for elementary school ( k-5 ) which was so exciting!!! but oh my god, i was EXHAUSTED ( which is why i fell in that Summer Schlump tbh [ it was my Stan Season ] because i'd never had that much free time before which was too much tbh ).

but anyways! for context, to get my credential, i had to work in both a lower elementary & an upper elementary class! more info under here!

so my first semester i worked in a 1st/2nd grade class which -- i loved them so much when i left i cried ( the kid that told me he hated me my first day and threw a STAPLER at me was actually in that class and he was the one child that had to be forcibly removed from me on my last day because he wouldn't let me go bc he didn't want me to leave....WHEN I TELL YOU I WAS CRYING LIKE LITTLE MAN DON'T DO THIS TO ME!!!! <//3 ;-; ) but yes, i literally adored them, they were so stinking cute -- i can't talk abt them too much or i'll Cry.

my second semester i was in a MASSIVE -- when i say massive i mean massive, we could barely move in that room -- fifth grade class and i also loved them sm -- they did dunk on me all the time smh -- and when i revisited them later, they were SO EXCITED, oh my god they gave me Hell during my semester, but they were Angels when i came to visit like!!! everyone hugged and high-fived me...love them, they were so funny...i miss them every day ;-;;;;;; AAAAA IM CRYING

but for This Job, i'm actually not working in one Specific classroom, i kind of float around and work with a lot of different ages/grade levels! which has been...Interesting for me, lmao! it's an adjustment for sure.

my favorite time is hanging out with the tiny little people ( if i could choose a grade level to teach it would probably be k-2 ) i read them lots of books and sing them a lot of stuff!!! were learning our letters :) i also dress kind of like Teacher Harper Finkle and they gas me up so much -- i came out of a classroom the other day to a bunch of first graders AND THEY ALL CLAPPED I DID A SPIN AND THEY WERE LIKE YOU LOOK LIKE A FAIRY PRINCESS WOW WOW WOW!!!!

i screamed they were SAUR CUTE!!!! heaven!!! all of them! angels! -- they really like all my apron dresses and my fuzzy ear muffs and my crazy eye makeup and stuff i love them so bad -- SOMETIME STHEY ROAST ME THO!! they don't mean to -- one day last year, i was hella late and tired and i had a Manic Uncle Nina Moment and bleached my hair but was too lazy to tone/dye it a color ( my hair was a lot of different colors! it was actually blue last year bc as a treat to my fifth graders, i let them choose a color for my hair! thank god it wasn't puke green IT GOT REALLY CLOSE I WAS CRYING PLSSS HELP )

and she was like Miss, Did You Do Your Hair! & i was yes, i did friend and she was like Can You Do Something Else It Looks Weird like KHDSLDKH STOP THE VIOLENCE!!! PLEASE!!!! BRUTAL OMG ;-; but at least she was REAL! W/ ME! i like the tiny ppl -- theyre honest.

i love the way you talk about daemyra and i would like to hear more!!!

well this is surprising i dont think i've spoken much about daemyra but lets begin by saying my #daemyra gothic tag 1) is 100% inspired by benjicotblackwood’s targ gothic tag and 2) functions similarly to an epithet for hellenistic greek god worshipping. it's an ‘aphrodite pandemos/aphrodite urania’ situation. am i shipping daemyra? perhaps. in which capacity? in a genderfuckery incestuous codependant mutually destructively enabling one.

now well. most of this will be rambling bc i only have Ideas but not a single coherent analysis to make but that's okay because i am simply talking about it which is what anon asked for. peace & love <3

THE most fucked up hotd dynamic by far and i think its very interesting to see it and analyze it beyond the framing they receive bc its quite. lukewarm? everyone involved is aware that this is not a healthy or functional romantic relationship for obvious reasons but they all also seem to be too scared of targfanatics to outright say it or portray it clearly.

but looking at the text and the dynamic as it is their relationship has very interesting but classic gothic vibes, through a narrative of abuse in which ultimately the abuser (daemon) is nothing without the victim (rhaenyra) bc the victim holds a certain sort of unchangable power over them, and whats more the same abuse they give, reveals the abuser to have little to no real power over the victim at all. that's daemon choking rhaenyra after she tells him of the prophecy and grooming her to get the throne/restore 'targaryen greatness' whatever that is. rhaenyra is the key bc she is the heir and the one that was chosen by viserys (whom they are both sort of obsessed with lmao). she didn't have to keep choosing and make him consort and give him a part of her power, or a tangent of her power, but she did. which is not to say daemon doesn't hold her down to some degree — he does. he is A Man in A Society and she's not. he holds her down politically socially emotionally etc that's what grooming and the patriarchy is about. the point is it's extremely nuanced bc he can't do any of that. he's not Allowed. it's crazy.

and speaking of viserys it's fascinating to think of the implications of daemon being so obsessed with rhaenyra and the question → is it because of viserys? is it more because of viserys (house targ) than it is about the throne itself, or to rhaenyra herself? this family is already beyond saving morally speaking and daemon being psychosexually obsessed with/in love with his brother wouldn't sound strange to me personally. arthur/guinevere/lancelot situation but 10 times more fucked up. but what do i know right.

i also think it's interesting to see of their relationship through trans lens. rhaenyra is in all levels except physical, a son. the REAL aegon ii. the king's beloved firstborn and heir who was treated with every bit of spoiling and unconditional forgiveness a son would've been granted with. rhaenyra wasn't just chosen as viserys’ heir she was also chosen as viserys’ firstborn son, and that gives her a closeness to him that daemon could never reach bc he didn't have credibility among court (albeit bc of all his politically unsavvy decisions but this is about the Implications), whose place was entirely skipped within the succesion line, who was married off against his will to someone he hates (and kills. oh well), who wields visenya’s sword, etc etc my point is. if daemyra is m/f it's because rhaenyra is the (m) and daemon is the (f). truly the world's worst t4t couple.

i think daemon resents her a whole lot. for being the heir and viserys’ favorite and all that. he also wants to control her and regain the power and status her mere existence took from him. (hey this is almost like rhaenyra's perception of aegon ii what do u know). i also think daemon adores her and wants to burn the world down with her bc he sees her as the clearest mirror image of what he considers himself to be/wants to be. i think rhaenyra is the only woman ever he cares about even if he doesn't entirely respect her as a woman nor his niece or wife — just as his future queen. as a fellow targaryen.

that's another thing. they're both very firm believers on targ supremacy and i think the only reason daemon had children with laena was bc she had targ blood/was a velaryon LMAO he doesn't want to taint his precious old valyrian blood. rhaenyra of course is an enabler bc she is just as much of a targfanatic as daemon is she just also happens to be into women. also it would be very interesting if daemon didn't like jace and luke also bc they aren't inbred enough for him. but since teamblack's internal dynamics are shrouded in Compartmentalization And Repression of years and years they're a bit more difficult for me to dissect.
