Love's gonna get you killed - we could've had it all.

Grief is the response to the loss of something deemed important, particularly to the loss of someone that has died, to which a bond or affection was formed. Although conventionally focused on the emotional response to loss, grief also has physical, cognitive, behavioral and social dimensions.

The sun shines through the large window in your room, and you rub your eyes with your hands as you slowly wake up and stretch. After getting dressed, you make your way to the dining hall where Dahyun and Tzuyu are having breakfast together.
"Good morning," Tzuyu says as you sit down next to her, leaning your walking stick against the table as a cook brings you food and you mumble a "thank you".
"How's your leg?" asks Tzuyu.
Her question gives you a twinge in your head, an uncomfortable feeling, and it's as if the event that actually happened months ago is happening right now.
You clench your teeth as Momo kisses your cheek and pulls the sword out of your thigh as you fall to the ground.
All you see is her looking down at you, tears in her eyes, and whispering an "I'm sorry", her only reply, an apology, a goodbye.
She disappears between the bushes, the last time you saw her.
"Y/n?" Tzuyu asks, pulling you out of your thoughts.
"My leg... it's better now, but it still hurts sometimes, but I'll start training again soon," you answer, a small smile on your lips.
"By the way, you two were a bit loud yesterday..." you add and hear Dahyun almost choke on her food, Tzuyu laughs a little.
"Sorry," she replies.
It is quiet while the three of you eat, Tzuyu interrupts the silence,
"Various people are coming to visit us tonight, we wanted to have a big party, are you coming too?" she asks, you look at her and think about it.
But just like before, you lose yourself in your thoughts and Momo is standing right in front of you.
"Come on," she says as she stands in the water, you get in, your suit wet and you can feel the goose bumps on your body from the cold.
You both look at each other, the only sound in the background is the water.
"Y/n?" says Tzuyu, "What's wrong? Are you okay?" she asks, pulling you out of your thoughts again.
"What, ah, yes. I'm coming..." you stand up, "I think Im gonna visit Jihyo..." you say, she nods and lets you go.
-
"How are you?" asks Jihyo as you sit down next to her.
"Normal, I guess," you answer and she looks at you thoughtfully.
"Jeongyeon can officially start training again, she's doing much better," Jihyo says, breaking the silence.
Jeongyeon...
Momo, who attacked Jeongyeon to get your attention.
"Good" you just say, but Jihyo knows exactly how you feel for a reason.
"You don't care about Jeongyeon as much as you do for Momo, do you?"
You look at her, somehow trying to find an explanation that makes sense, an explanation that shows that you're not thinking about Momo, that she's not that important.
"Sana is back in the kingdom," she says to change the subject, and you suddenly feel uncomfortable.
Memories of the past come flooding back, things that happened years ago.
It's like the first time you saw her, her smile that made your cheeks glow. Her hands that touched you in such a way that you completly melted in her arms, her lips that were so soft that you felt like you were kissing the softest pillow in the world.
Her way of talking that made you cry when she left.
"Why?" you ask Jihyo and she can tell immediately that you're lost in your thoughts.
"Because of Tzuyu's party, she came all the way from Japan, as queen she has to make official visits," she answers.
"Official visits..." you mutter.
"I'm sorry," she said.
"My people need me."
"I can't be seen with you."
I can't be seen with you.
"I know you're probably not ready to see her, and maybe you never will be, but at least try," Jihyo says and you nod, looking down onto your slightly trembling hands.
-
"I'm glad you all came tonight," Tzuyu says in front of all the guests at the party, a glass of champagne in her hand and in the hands of everyone else.
"I hope you enjoy tonight!" she finishes her sentence and the people applaud as a small orchestra starts playing music, people start talking to each other while some of them start dancing.
Unfortunately, the music sounds far too familiar.
"Will you dance with me?" Momo asked when you were at Dahyun's ball, just as this song started to play.
You take a deep breath and look around, then walk out of the palace and onto the terrace.
Why was every palace built by the water?
The stony shore only reminds you more of the night, even more of the evening when you felt too comfortable with Momo.
The night when Momo kissed you on the cheek.
You take a sip of your champagne, it's quite cold, you can feel it running down your throat, leaving a slight burning sensation.
But you are not alone for long, you hear the door open, you turn around and Sana is standing right in front of you.
Your eyes widen in surprise, because somehow a small - or rather larger - part of your body was hoping that Momo would be standing in front of you, that she would be here again for some reason,
A part of your body hoped that she was looking for you.
"Y/n?" says Sana.
"Sana?" you answer, a soft whisper, as if you were afraid someone might hear you, as if you weren't allowed to speak to a queen.
"Long time no see..." she says, walking to you and leaning against the stone wall, her voice so soft again that you want to cry, to take her in your arms and tell her how much you actually missed her.
But instead of saying anything, you lean against the stone wall next to her, both of you looking at the water in the distance as the sun sets.
"I heard about what happened," she says, and you don't know what exactly she's talking about.
The situation with Momo?
The attack on you that left you still unable to train properly?
The days you spent crying for Sana? Your despair?
Too many events come to mind as Sana continues,
"That thing with your leg, that knight, what was her name again-
"Momo," you answer, perhaps a little too quickly.
"Exactly, she hurt you in the fight. I hope your leg is better," a small smile appears on her lips as she finishes her sentence.
"It's gotten a lot better," you answer, drinking the last drops of your champagne. The burning sensation is back in your throat, but somehow you start liking it, a kind of burning that is somehow pleasant.
It's quiet, uncomfortable, but comfortable at the same time. Like a paradox - it's as if she has always been here, as if she never went to Japan.
"I missed you."
Sana says after a while, and it scares you somehow - you don't answer.
But Sana doesn't mind, not at all - she found your quiet way somehow relaxing. She always liked the way you listened to her without answering, because deep in her heart she knew that you somehow remembered everything, that you thought of every single detail even when she was gone.
"Whether you want to believe me or not is your decision, but I can only say that to this day I regret leaving," she says as you look at her, her eyes are slightly watery - another one of her special qualities - she gets emotional easily when she talks about her feelings.
You put your hand on hers, your thumb gently stroking her palm, a small but somehow meaningful sign for Sana. A kind of comfort.
How ironic, really, that you are comforting her.
You look back at the water, Sana does the same.
"I'll stay here longer, y/n," she adds.
Part of your body rejoices, maybe you shouldn't, but you'd be lying if you said you didn't think about her almost every day.
Thinking about Sana has distracted you from many things -
especially at this moment.
You don't notice Momo opening the door and watching you and Sana.
You don't notice the way her grip on the glass is getting tighter and tighter.
Despair? Anger?
Fear?
And when you hear the sound of glass falling to the floor and shattering into little pieces -
Momo was already gone.
-
Your head hurts when you wake up, maybe it was stupid to play drinking games with Tzuyu, Dahyun and Sana.
Actually, you wanted to stay civil, but... it didn't work out so well.
You decide to take a walk through the forest to get some fresh air.
After a few minutes you find yourself in this place.
Behind bushes and trees -
The place where you saw Momo for the first time.
The place where she gave you the scar on your face - which is almost gone now,
The place where you and Momo fought in the rain.
The place where you kissed before you never saw her again.
But this time it's different, this time there's no Momo here to attack you, this time you're all alone, without any armor or weapon.
You sit down on the grass and lean against a bigger stone.
And it's so different from the other times, it's just quiet, pleasant.
And maybe it would have stayed that quiet and pleasant if you hadn't suddenly heard footsteps coming closer and closer,
and before you can even react,
Momo is standing right in front of you.
She looks down at you, her expression is hard to read, it's hard for you to tell what she's feeling.
The only thing you notice is that she has no weapon or armor.
She's not here as a knight from the other Kingdom, but simply as Momo.
Just Hirai Momo.
None of you dare to say anything, maybe that's what makes you different from Sana -
You're more afraid.
Because what you did with Momo was always whispering, talking at night, hiding.
She doesn't say anything, she just sits down next to you.
And you don't complain, no, of course not.
Because somehow this is something you've wanted for months.
You don't complain when Momo puts her head on your shoulder, but you put your head on hers.
You both look at the ground in front of you, the only sounds are your breathing, the chirping of birds and a light breeze that comes now and then.
And Momo's hand plays with the grass under her fingers, perhaps a sign of nervousness?
And when she starts humming softly, you don't mind, no, you just try to listen to her even more.
Even though the melody is unfamiliar to you, it is somehow so relaxing, unfamiliar and yet familiar at the same time.
And what's going on in your head that you're doing this, that you're daring to take her hand.
She doesn't pull her hand away, but intertwines your fingers.
And her cold hand is somehow so pleasant that you warm it with your warm hand and she cools you down with hers.
And this moment is more pleasant than you thought, if you only knew who exactly was watching.
Because the person is not happy, they don't know why they feel this way, but it hurts their heart.
Anger?
-
You yawn as you look around and slowly realize the situation you are in,
or rather, were.
You are still sitting on the grass, your back leaning against a stone as you look beside you,
Momo is gone.
Without a word of goodbye.
You get up, pick up your walking stick and walk back to the palace, it's quite late and you wonder how long you've been in the forest.
Before you can enter the palace, you run into Jihyo who quickly pulls you aside.
You give her a confused look before she starts talking,
"Sana's been looking for you all day," she says, and your body starts to hurt.
Why is she looking for you?
Does she know about Momo?
"I don't know what's going on, but she's in your room. Maybe you should go upstairs and talk to her," Jihyo says and you nod, thanking her for the warning.
The walk upstairs felt faster than usual, you take a breath and open the door, Sana is standing in front of the large window as you walk in.
You close the door behind you and walk slowly towards her, leaving a few feet of space.
"You shouldn't stand so long, sit down," she says, but it sounds more like an order.
You nod and sit down, she walks towards you.
"Where have you been?" she asks.
"In the forest."
"Why?"
Her question makes you think. You just wanted to get some fresh air, then you met Momo and just fell asleep.
"Just like that, why do you care?" you ask back and Sana laughs a little.
"You shouldn't spend time with people like that, especially not falling asleep next to them," she says, standing right in front of you.
She knows about it?
She has seen you and Momo?
Why is she telling you all this?
Thousands of questions pop into your head and you can already feel the headache, Sana interrupts your thoughts when she starts talking again,
"I know Momo, and believe me, she's not a good influence for you. She's dangerous, and you're not the first person she's had contact with like this. I only want the best for you," she says.
"What do you mean?" you ask, but she only confuses you more with her words.
She sits down across from you, her legs crossed, her back straight and her posture noble.
"You are not her first victim. No matter what you think is going to happen between you, it won't. She did something to my kingdom years ago that is still unforgivable," she replies.
"Just believe me, please. You know I only want the best for you."
Your hand clenches into a fist, how ironic that Sana out of all people would say such things.
"You only want the best for me? You left me, you said you couldn't be seen with me. You have no idea what's best for me," you reply, perhaps a little too aggressively.
But Sana doesn't seem to be offended, her expression is still neutral, but it looks like she's suppressing a smile when she starts talking again.
"Why is Momo so important to you that you get so defensive?" she asks.
She probably knew exactly what point she had hit.
Sana knows exactly how your emotions tick, she knows every single detail and could make you cry in just a second.
"I..." you start to speak, but nothing comes out.
"She attacked you, she's a knight of the other kingdom, she almost killed Jeongyeon. So I ask again, why is she so important to you?" she says, provoking you even more.
And as you think about it, you realize what a bad person Momo really is.
The many fights, the attack on Jeongyeon, the provocation, her aggression.
The way she made you cry?
Her tender lips on yours before she disappeared for months?
When she listened to you talk about your fears at the ball?
And her alleged attacks were never fatal, you start to notice while thinking about everything.
Jeongyeon - She hit her in a place that heals easily.
You - The scar on your face that didn't even touch your eye or neck.
Her sword that was in your thigh - it healed faster than you thought.
The way she always called for the others after hurting you, so you could get help right away.
Sana stands up, on her way out of your room, but before she can leave, you turn around and say something.
"Maybe Momo is a better person than you."
Sana turns and looks at you, a smile on her lips.
A smile?
"I see" she answers and closes the door behind her.
Why did she say that?
Why did she smile?
What is she up to?
-
It is dark, the wind is cold and yet so pleasant.
You find yourself in front of a large stone wall, one that protects the palace.
Or rather;
You are standing in front of Dahyun's kingdom.
Even though peace has been restored, you prefer to play it safe and take the more inconspicuous route.
You bite your lower lip as you climb up, your thigh tightening from the pain as you reach the other side.
And as you run up the stairs to Momo's room, you are stopped.
"Who are you?" asks a man, taller than you, a small sword in his hand - probably as a defense.
You remember your dream again, the one in which you also met this man.
You don't answer him, but attack him, the sword flies out of his hands and lands in yours.
And before he can react, you stab him.
And as if nothing had happened, you just keep walking.
Up the stairs, through her door and close it behind you.
You look around her room first, it looks similar to yours, maybe because you're both knights.
You want to turn around, but you bump into something.
Or rather,
against someone.
You gasp as you feel a knife at your neck.
And somehow it's just like in your dream again.
"Momo, it's me," you say as she pulls her knife away from your neck again and puts it away.
"Why are you here?" she asks as she sits down on her bed, leaving space for you as you sit down next to her.
"I honestly don't know..." you start to say,
"I talked to Sana," you can tell from Momo's reaction that something is wrong.
The look on her face confuses you. Why is she reacting like this? What's the story behind the two of them?
"Did she tell you not to talk to me anymore? That I'm a bad influence?" Momo asks, you nod slowly, hoping she'll finally explain why Sana has been acting like this.
"I wasn't always part of Dahyun's kingdom Y/n," she says, and you're only more confused.
"Before Sana was in charge of her kingdom, it was Mina. Younger than Sana and I, but part of the royal family, which is why she came to power when her parents passed away." the more she talks, the more confused you get.
"We were pretty close friends, the three of us, I served Mina's kingdom," Momo stops talking for a moment, taking a breath as she looks down at her hands.
"It got to the point where Mina kissed me, and I kissed her back. We acted like two little teenagers in love, but then..." You see her thinking about how to phrase her next words, she lets out a little laugh.
"Our kingdom was attacked and I defended Mina and Sana. Mina wanted to stay with me the whole time because she was worried about me. When it came to an attack...
she stood in front of me because I didn't see it coming, right infront of me and Sana.
I wanted to help her, but in the end it was too late.
Sana still hasn't forgiven me for it, it seems. She got everyone to turn on me, and I fled because it's supposedly all my fault." Momo says and stops talking, you look at her, and now somehow you understand everything.
"But it's not your fault" you whisper, it shouldn't even come out as a whisper, but somehow it just doesn't come out any louder.
Momo looks at you, a slight smile on her lips - which quickly disappears,
"But maybe you need to listen to Sana, even if I hate to say it.
I don't want anything bad to happen to you," she says.
Couldn't she have just said "Don't listen to Sana"?
"Wouldn't it be funny if this was the last time we talked to eachother in peace?" Momo asks.
You look at her and somehow wish she hadn't said that, because it makes you somehow scared.
But you choose to ignore it.
You choose to focus on the present, on what's happening now and not years later.
You take a deep breath and take her hand in yours.
Her hand is cold, again, - yours is warm.
She looks at you as you answer;
"You're both idiots"
Momo looks at you, confused.
You close the distance between the two of you, her soft lips on yours as she dares not move.
This time it's different.
It's not a stupid dream you're having because you're confused about your feelings for Momo.
It's all more real.
And you want it, so, so much.
But before you can pull away, Momo starts kissing you back.
And her lips feel so soft, it feels like a new sensation that drives you crazy.
As you two continue kissing, Momo pushes her tongue into your mouth and you let out a soft whimper at the feeling of her exploring your mouth.
She pushes you into her matress as she gets on top of you, leaving your lips as she places wet kisses on your jaw, trailing down to your neck and leaving hickeys by biting, sucking and nibbling on your skin.
Your hands grip the bedsheets, head leaning back deeper into the pillow because of the pleasure, toes curling into the bed as Momo parts your legs with her free hand, slowly and lightly rubbing circles over the pants you have on.
"Fuck Momo-" you let out, opening your eyes to make eye contact with her.
Her hands toy with the hem of your shirt, looking at you with a smile that seems more like a nasty smirk.
"Can I take this off?" she asks, and you're close to just rip off your shirt yourself, because Momo knows damn well how much you want this.
"Don't ask stupid questions.." you answer, and your t-shirt is being pulled off faster than you thought.
And Momo's eyes sparkle a little when she sees that you haven't thought about wearing a bra, being topless right infront of her.
She leans down, trailing her kisses down from your collarbone to your chest - kissing inbetween your breasts before taking one of your hardened buds into her mouth, her hand playing with the other one.
You throw your head back again, back arching, wanting to get somehow even closer to her touch.
After licking, biting and lightly sucking, she continues kissing down your body, stopping right infront of your pants.
She thinks quicker than you - catching your hands before you could, somehow, make her touch you where you really need it faster.
She looks up to you, that nasty smirk fully on her lips, and oh god what you would do to wipe it off her face so she stops feeling so confident.
"You're so impatient baby, how long did you wait for this?" she asks teasingly, her voice husky, making that one damp spot on your underwear even wetter.
"Too long-" you whimper, maybe it would be embarrassing to admit this, and it is probably very embarrassing - but in this moment, you couldn't care less.
Your body is hot, sweaty, and your mind clouded by the thought of Momo finally touching you like you desire.
Mind full of wanting to submit to her, your body trusting her completly to being in charge.
She interrupts your thinking when you see her having a piece of black cloth in her hands, her look on her face not that teasing, rather like she is asking you if she can do what she wants to do.
A simple question, no strings attached.
You nod.
She smiles, sitting upright as she takes your arms, placing them behind your back as she ties your wrists together, not too tight, but definetly so tight that you cant simply take them off.
She plays with the strings of your pants, clearly teasing you, again.
"How bad do you want this?" she asks, leaning on top of you as she whispers into your ear, her breath hot and her voice sensual.
You feel shivers running down your spine as she speaks, thinking of an answer that will leave her satisfied enough to touch you.
"So bad that its embarrassing to say, so bad that i would say it infront of the whole kingdom so they can hear it." you answer, and your breath hitches when Momo brushes her finger against the damp spot, pressing right against your heat, telling by her face, she's visibly satisfied by your answer.
"Can't leave you hanging, right?" she says, fingers hooking onto your pants as she pulls them off along with your underwear, throwing it on your shirt.
She lowers herself so her face is right infront of your core, her slow breaths tickling you in a way that makes your hips buck.
She comes closer, leaving kitten licks on your clit as you moan, head leaning back into the pillow as you bite your bottom lip.
Your hands try to move as you realize that they are tied together, wrists rubbing against eachother as your body tries to feel Momo even more.
"Please.. don't tease-" you moan out, earning a chuckle from her.
"Okay okay.." she answers, her tongue suddenly moving faster as she enters your hole, making you let out a louder moan.
You turn your head as you moan into the pillow your head is laying on, back arching even more when she speeds up.
"Momo.." you pant, moans leaving your mouth while you try to speak.
"I'm close-" you say, feeling her smirk as she, somehow, goes even faster, even deeper.
Your thighs close around her head, forcing her to spread them open again with her hands as you cum into her mouth, a loud moan ripping from your mouth as your juices flow out.
Momo pulls back, watching you breathe heavily as you try to come down from your high, brushing your hair out of your face and tucking it behind your ear.
Maybe this is her favorite sight.
Seeing you like this.
Hands tied behind your back, cheeks flushed, neck full of hickeys, back slightly arched, eyes closed and your brows furrowed.
She doesn't get to stare long though - you open your eyes and look at her.
"Admiring me?" you say and laugh a little.
"Maybe" she answers, fingers drawing circles on your thigh.
A silent request, an invitation.
Her motives are clear as a sky without clouds.
And again, you nod, letting her take control over this situation, - letting her take control over you.
She smiles, fingers inching closer to your heat.
And when you feel her fingers brush over your clit, your mouth drops open, hips bucking into her touch, wanting more.
She pulls her fingers away, a string of wetness on them.
Her fingers slide down, through your folds as she slowly puts a finger in, your hands gripping the cloth that is restricting your hands.
You let out a moan and bite down on your lip.
And when Momo slowly starts to move, she realizes the way you're so tight.
"First time?" she asks, and you embarrassingly nod, cheeks turning into a crimson color.
She smiles, hand trailing up your body, leaning forward as she kisses your neck softly.
"I got you" she whispers, kissing along your neck and collarbone, adding another finger into you slowly.
"Fuck Momo-" you moan, your mind going crazy over the new sensation of Momo's long, thick, fingers inside of you, body slightly grinding onto her to feel her even more.
And she starts to thrust into you, some slow, experimental thrusts to see how you would feel.
Your moans get louder, and all your thoughts disappearing as your mind gets clouded by the way you feel Momo everywhere.
Her mouth lands on your breasts, kissing them as she drags a tongue over your nipple, making your back arch off the bed and closer to her.
"Are you close?" she asks, smiling against your chest as she curls her fingers into that spot that makes you moan even louder.
You nod, lip trapped between your teeth, head thrown back.
She grins against your chest, her fingers moving even faster, scissoring and curling into the spots that make you crazy.
"Momo-" you yell out, toes curling into the matress, gripping the cloth that is tied around your wrists, body twitching while cumming.
She slowly stops moving her fingers, helping you ride out your high.
She pulls her fingers out, slowly licking them clean.
You try to calm down, panting with your eyes closed.
Momo pulls off the cloth from your hands, and when you open your eyes you can see the little red marks it left.
She smiles at you, taking your hand in hers.
"How about we take a bath?" she asks with a smirk.
That nasty smirk again, the one that makes you want to wipe it off her face.
The one you slowly start to adore.
"Sounds good" you answer.
-
War.
War is like a plague, a disease.
Something that can always come back for some reason.
Once you have it, it will never leave you.
Peace, however, is something you can only dream of.
The complete opposite of war.
And while the kingdoms enjoyed the supposed peace, war came right after.
Unprepared, without any signs, without any official announcement.
It was only days after you slept with Momo.
Days after you last spoke to Sana.
Jihyo stands beside you as Tzuyu gives a speech to the residents, your armor donned.
"Are you sure you're really ready to fight yet?" she whispers to you.
You look to her briefly, and nod.
You look next to you and look at Momo.
"We'll do everything we can to keep the peace!" says Tzuyu.
"Our kingdoms will work together for your safety." says Dahyun, standing next to Tzuyu.
Momo has a slight smile on her lips, and it makes you show yours too.
Maybe you really are like childish teenagers who are in love, but in this moment - and in all other moments, really - you don't care.
Because you both have each other, and that's the most important thing.
You can be happy together.
Even with war.
You are split into groups, Jihyo, Jeongyeon, Momo and you, while the other knights are in another small group protecting a different part of the kingdom.
You run through the forest in two lines,
Jihyo and Jeongyeon are behind you,
Momo and you lead the way, all four of you with swords in hand, making sure no one can attack you.
It's darker now, which means you have to concentrate so that you can see everything clearly.
You walk past the part of the forest you've been to too often.
A part where you have probably made the most memories.
And somehow every one of them has something to do with Momo.
Momo notices you looking there and touches you with her arm so that you look at her, she smiles at you.
A simple sign that she knows what you're thinking about.
You hear a strange noise behind you, but before you can turn around you feel a blow to your head and fall to the ground.
The last thing you see are people standing in front of you and pulling a cloth bag over everyone's head so that you can't see anything.
The last thing you feel is thick ropes being tied around your arm.
And suddenly, you feel nothing as everything goes black.
As you slowly begin to regain consciousness, you realize that you are still tied up, your vision still blocked by the cloth bag.
You try to hear something and realize that you are in a carriage, or rather a horse-drawn carriage as you can tell by the clattering of hooves.
The cart comes to an abrupt stop as you hear something being opened, probably to get you out, but suddenly, you hear a whisper next to you -
"I'll find you in every universe."
You can tell by the voice that it's Momo, and how much you want to answer, Momo is pulled away and someone grabs you to get you out of the car.
You run to where you are being led and somehow you are scared, of course you should be scared, but that uneasy feeling in your stomach makes it all worse.
You are pushed to the ground, onto your knees.
The cloth bag is pulled off your head, and as you look around, you are shocked.
You see many knights, from their armor you can tell they are not from Tzuyu's or Dahyun's kingdom.
You see Sana.
Sana?
Her clothes dark, her expression cold as she watches all the other knights being forced to their knees just like you.
You look beside you, and a few meters away you see her.
Momo.
She looks you in the eye, her smile no longer on her lips, but, for the first time, her look is different.
She is afraid.
Next to you are Jihyo and Jeongyeon, somewhere further you see knights like Nayeon and Chaeyoung.
You look at Sana again, and as everyone looks at her, she starts talking.
"I'm glad to be here," she says with a wicked grin, one that gives you goosebumps.
She takes the sword from a knight and looks at it, then smiles.
"I don't really like doing the dirty work," she says.
"But as queen, sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands"
She looks around, her eyes landing on you.
"Oh Y/n, long time no see right?" she asks, kneeling down in front of you, sword in her hand.
She reaches behind your head, your hair between her fingers as she pulls your head back.
You grit your teeth.
Momo, further away, tries to get free, somehow, to help you, but it's impossible.
"Oh Y/n.. Our friendship is great, isn't it? Or maybe we have more?" she asks teasingly.
"We don't have anything." you reply, and she laughs.
She laughs and lets go of your hair to stand up.
"Because Momo is better than me, right? Right?" she asks, pacing back and forth a few steps.
You don't answer, but only feel more uncomfortable and wonder what exactly Sana is up to here.
"If you look around you'll see that we're somewhere in the middle of nowhere. A perfect place for corpses" she announces and everyone looks at her in confusion, looks full of fear.
"But don't be afraid... You don't have to do anything except watch..." she says, but suddenly she adds something that makes your blood freeze -
"Unless your name is Hirai Momo, then you're the star of the show!" she finishes, and everyone is even more shocked, Momo's eyes wide open as Sana points her sword at her.
"Sana! You can't do this," you say.
A pathetic attempt to somehow save Momo, to somehow stop Sana from doing what she's about to do.
Sana approaches Momo and stands right in front of her.
"Sana please!" you call out, she looks at you.
"Please..." you feel your eyes getting watery, "it's not Momo's fault that Mina is dead, you know that!"
Sana listens to you, lets you finish, and you feel like she's really letting up.
"You don't have to do this. Please. You're not a better person if you kill Momo. It won't bring Mina back!" you say, tears streaming down your eyes.
Sana nods.
Sana nods?
"I think you're right, Y/n..." she says, lowering the sword.
Only to raise it again.
"I make my own decisions, though." she says.
Momo looks at you,
and suddenly her face is covered in blood.
Sana's sword is suddenly stuck in her head before she pulls it out.
You've seen brutal things, of course, you're a knight -
But seeing Momo,
Momo being killed in front of you.
"Momo!" you scream.
Your eyes are full of tears and you somehow try to untie these filthy ropes.
Because somehow you think you still have a chance to save her.
Momo looks at you.
"Y/n.. I'll... I'll find you..."
She topples over, onto the dirty ground, onto the grass.
"Momo..." you say again, hoping that this isn't real.
It's just a bad dream, isn't it?
Or is it?
Jihyo looks at you, tears in her eyes and in everyone else's, but you're only focused on Momo.
She doesn't move, just lies there.
Not a single breath, no stupid grin, nothing.
-
"Why not in this one?" you ask.
"Why couldn't you just find me in this universe?" you ask.
And to hear you like that, you'd think you were talking to someone.
But no one is standing in front of you, or next to you.
You are alone.
'Hirai Momo, a fighter, a person full of love' is written on the gravestone.
And it doesn't feel real.
And a part of your body still hopes it's not real.
You kneel down, run your hand slowly over the engraved writing.
"Why?" you ask into the silence.
And inside, you think to yourself that someone is behind you, answering your question.
In your mind, Momo is standing behind you and says that she survived.
"I will never forget you," you say.
A promise.
One that you will never break.
One that you will always remember.
You will remember how beautiful she was, how she made you feel.
You will remember her smile, and you will always love her.
"I'll never love anyone like that again" you say to yourself, maybe you say it to her, in another universe she is listening to you.
In your heart, Momo is not a knight of the other kingdom,
Or a bad person,
But simply Hirai Momo.

tell me, will we survive?
chou tzuyu x reader ; fluff, little bit of angst
synopsis: your family had a secret beneath an arranged marriage, but you suddenly discover that the bride’s family had a secret of their own.
wc: 2.1k

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: ty to @twicesserafim for the request!!! something abt my song titles always hit mmmm let me keep cooking
you hated being the esteemed princess of a nation.
you also hated the fact that you had to stand for what seemed to be hours on end for a ceremonial marriage of your brother and another princess from a neighboring kingdom.
taehyung, your kingdom’s prince, the crown jewel of your family, someone you were proud to call your brother, was about to marry a woman who he knew very little of. the arranged marriage was all a facade to cover up the potential danger of a war that was all but imminent in a matter of time.
you tried to object to this act that your father and mother had devised, only to be threatened to be exiled from the family entirely if you were to do anything rash to ruin the “special” moment. while you stood off to the side of the altar watching the union unfold right in front of you. you couldn’t see the woman’s face, but you could tell the elegance she possessed while wearing her dashing white dress, the gown pooling over the steps as she held your brother’s hands exchanging vows.
the wedding reception after was all in good spirits, you exchanged conversations with various people that had high positions in the kingdom, leaving kind regards and small laughs as you saw right through their fake smiles.
after partaking in the food that was provided—damned impressed that it was good to eat, the host announced that there was a special performance from the bride’s family. watching the bride sit at the center of the ballroom with a guzheng. you were caught off guard when the helpers brought out another guzheng and saw the bride’s sister take the seat next to her.
there were a couple questions brimming in your head, but the one that needed to be answered right away was who was the bride’s sister? you then lean over to taehyung’s right side to whisper something to him as the sisters started to play.
“you didn’t tell me that salernitana had a sister.”
“i thought you knew. she also hates that name by the way, she prefers to be called sally.” taehyung hushes quickly trying not to interrupt the performance.
“sally?! i think i prefer the other name, no offense.”
“oh shut up, that’s her twin sister next to her.”
you put your eyes on the second sister as she gracefully plays the guzheng with her fingers almost as if she wasn’t touching the instrument at all. she definitely had the musical talent no doubt, but something about her visuals that were near identical to the bride’s—almost like a carbon copy. she had little to no makeup on her face since her visuals were strikingly beautiful as it is. her long dark brown hair curtaining her shoulders as the costume fitted an hourglass figure. you’ve only seen this woman for about two minutes and you were already besotted by her sophisticated appearance as they finish their traditional song, applauding at the end, tapping away repeatedly to annoy taehyung again.
“you never told me the twin’s name.” you said, continuing to clap for the sisters.
“her name is chou tzuyu. you trying to befriend her?”
“nothing wrong with making new friends tae.” you respond quickly as the rest of the guests sat back down to proceed with the rest of the ceremony.
once the party broke out in common conversing groups and dances, you make your way across the crowd to see tzuyu alone by herself at a table, making eye contact with you instantly looking away, sitting right next to her, placing your elbow on the table as you observed tzuyu’s features more closely this time.
“nice performance, i didn’t even know that you were sally’s twin sister.”
tzuyu glances back at you with a smile, and you feel your breath hitch for a slight second as she gazes back with a similar intent.
“why thank you, but shouldn’t you be somewhere else princess-”
“please, call me y/n. princess is a little too formal for my taste.” you say, waving your hand to calm tzuyu’s nervousness as she simply nods at your request.
“well then y/n, what brings you all the way over here?” tzuyu politely asks, grabbing a small grape to eat from the centerpiece of the table. “what could an esteemed member of the royal family want with a lesser known person like me?”
“i’m not that esteemed. i’m just on the same boat like you.”
“is that so?”
you nod, studying her features again, staring for little bit longer that you would’ve liked as you didn’t respond to tzuyu’s question.
“y/n.”
her heavenly soft voice breaks your trance as the music of the band got increasingly louder along with the cheers of the crowd. you look back to see your brother and his bride center circle as they both danced to a common folk song, clearly enjoying the moment.
tzuyu clasps your hand, slightly flushed at the sudden contact, face worming as she leaned closer to your ear to say something to you.
“wanna get out of here?”
you do the same to tzuyu leaning to her ear, covering it so that she could hear better, “i know where we can go, come with me.”
you open the door of your family estate to a closed off garden. tzuyu is left in awe at the new area of interest as she takes in the sight of the various plants spread across, the soft sound of the water streaming in the small pond next to the door where there were koi fish happily swimming round in circles.
leading the way, you open a second door to an atrium, illuminated by the low lights just enough for you and tzuyu to see each other in the darkness as you two stand in the center, the door closing just behind tzuyu. you tried your best to keep composed, resisting the growing warmth on your face, looking at tzuyu gazing up at the stars peeking through the clear windows above.
“i’ve always wanted to see what was inside the castle.”
“have you liked it so far? i’ve only shown you through the long hallways, but nobody knows that we’re here.” you say rubbing your shoulder to calm yourself while keeping your eyes on tzuyu.
tzuyu hums out gladly, “i have. it’s lovely here, i’m actually jealous.”
you sit down on the small bench off to the side as tzuyu stands in the center. the light radiating through the skylight perfectly as you blatantly admire the artwork that was presented in front of you. tzuyu looks up at the moonlight, nearly mimicking a statue with the way she posed, arms behind her back and lifting one leg up as the skin appeared to be glowing for a few moments. her perfect side profile and angled jawline left your mouth dropping as she looked over to you, causing you to sit up straight and clear your throat out before pretending to wipe something off of your outfit.
“i usually come here when it’s late. it’s quiet and peaceful. i actually spend most of my free time here since we built this garden with my mother.” you say standing up, walking over to tzuyu and grabbing her hand to move deeper and deeper into the outdoor area as tzuyu is left in amazement at the new sight that was in her eyes.
lanterns lit up the pathway that you and tzuyu were walking on as the presentation of the garden grew more amazing to look at. there were a plethora of plants that were curated over time as tzuyu listened to your rambling of the different flower names, throwing them up like a jester’s party trick. tzuyu observed the many groupings of flowers like the chrysi’s in one area and the patches of willows in the next. you two eventually reach a spacious terrace, leaning against the supporting beams that overlooked the kingdom from a high view
“this view is amazing y/n.” tzuyu tells you, shifting herself to stand right beside her, knuckles grazing each other as you swipe your hand away from the contact.
you lightly smile at the sight that you’ve gotten used to seeing as tzuyu looks over to you, your expression shifting slowly to a more grim emotion. you catch yourself inhaling sharply, leaning over the railing to see the lilac’s just hanging under you two.
“sorry, i didn't mean to get depressed all of a sudden.” you say to tzuyu, assuring that everything was okay with you.
except that it wasn’t.
“tzuyu, how come you didn’t put yourself in a higher regard in your family. you’re also a royal family member no?”
tzuyu ponders at your question, turning to face you as matched her eye level, her casting growing immensely in the dead silence, waiting for her answer.
“i was never a fan of being all preppy for show. i just wanted to be a normal person, no status, no privileges, just a simple life.” she mumbles as you couldn't help but feel bad, but at the same time, it puts your mind at rest that she really was in a similar position like you.
you reach for her hand, fingers getting intertwined with yours as she reciprocates your action, relieved that you were so straightforward with how you felt about her in the short amount of time that you’ve gotten to know her.
tzuyu’s body and yours were inching closer together, only to be interrupted by the sound of steps on the gravel approaching you.
“y/n! i’ve been looking everywhere for you! mother and father are requesting your presence back at the ballroom for a few moments.” taehyung says to you as he stood at the steps of the terrace, locking his gaze on you and tzuyu.
“you can tell them to forget about it, they know that i hate parties anyway.” you answer solidly as taehyung leans his head back in a slight shock from your answer, noticing that you were still holding hands with tzuyu before scoffing at what he observed.
“you know our family’s stance about this.” he says, waving his finger at you and tzuyu as he already took the hint, “mother and father wouldn’t approve of this and you know what would happen if they found out.”
“it wouldn’t matter anyway, you know what’s about to happen in the coming weeks.” you retort, clutching tzuyu’s hand tighter as taehyung sighs, turning around as he headed back to the party downstairs.
tzuyu was left confused at the verbal exchange that just happened, but you pulled her closer for a quick hug, trying to do anything to not break down as she pats your back.
“y/n, what’s happening?” she asks you as you look out in the night sky yet again.
“tzuyu, do you know why my brother is having this wedding?”
tzuyu stays silent as she remembers the sole reason of the whole event as she hums quietly to your question. your breathing increases to an uncomfortable rate as tzuyu hugs you tighter, digging her chin onto your shoulder.
“i do, and i’m scared for what’s going to happen.”
you break the hug as tzuyu stands in front of you again, clutching your arm as you couldn’t bear to make eye contact with her, not after how you acted, then hesitating for a moment before giving tzuyu a proposition.
“tzuyu, would you want to run away with me?” you ask tzuyu as she tilts her head, eyes giving a sense of want before you continue. “do you want to get away from all of this, just the two of us?”
tzuyu eyes the ground as you try your best not to tremble from the weight of your own breakdown.
“this war is going to destroy everything. i know it, your family knows it, it’s all going to end.” you say to tzuyu. you and her try to fight back the tears, you and her were both becoming genuinely scared.
your mind was buzzing on all cylinders as tzuyu meets your eyes again, heart twinging as she broke a lovely smile, the dimple on her cheek piercing through as she finally confirmed your longing desire.
“as long as you lead the way y/n , i’ll follow you.”
you exhale in relief, giving yourself a few moments before you grab her hand again, running to a set of stairs behind the terrance and past the gate that went out to the forest that was lit up dimly by surrounding fireflies. you and tzuyu leaving the stupid life of royalty for freedom behind, you and her never looking back.

ditto : oh, say it ditto
Tumblr media
genre: angst
pairing: tzuyu x reader
content warning(s): mentions of death
ditto short series: nayeon, jeongyeon, momo, sana, jihyo, mina, dahyun, chaeyoung
»»————- ♡ ————-««
tzuyu likes the fact how she had a little sister in the group.
she could patronize you, in a loving way of course. make fun of you for being the youngest even though she’s only a year older than you.
you both are quiet individuals, but together you are sometimes even louder than jihyo.
tzuyu kind of becomes a nayeon 2.0.
you both share a lot in common, such as being foreigners, being the youngest in training, and moving away from your home country.
tzuyu was intrigued by you whenever she had first met you. you were so young, yet so talented like she.
although tzuyu wasn’t one to speak out, she definitely felt the need to when it came to you.
like at fan meetings if someone was disrespecting you, or just straight up ignoring you, she’d speak up ask the individual to be respectful of you.
or if no one gave you any gifts, she’d kindly give you a plushie with a smile.
likes going on what she called field trips with you when you both were younger, such as vlogs in twice private time era. you’d both explore more of Korea, and learn its cultures together.
you’d both even explore each others cultures, having fun in learning mandarin with her.
she found it funny and adorable how you’d try to talk to her in her mother tongue, but the pronunciation could be off sometimes.
inside jokes between the both of you, the prankingeach other on the low. you both loved every bit of it.
ever since you had found out of your condition, you had tried to keep it a secret from the girls for as long as you did, but it clearly didn’t work with sana announcing it to the girls.
you couldn’t help but get upset with her, because it was your choice to announce it.
but you couldn’t help but quiet down when you saw the look on tzuyu’s face, as if her entire world crashed within those five minutes of you yelling at sana.
the leader questioned why you didn’t tell them, and you just cried.
all ten of you did.
even when you were in the hospital for your leukemia.
you weren’t going to live long, you knew this. which is why you soon had accepted you were going to go away soon.
but none of them could accept it.
with permission, all of you had went on a vacation to jeju island, where they did all of your favorite things, not wanting to vlog anything out of privacy and respect. only taking photos and videos on their phones with you.
the day you all went to the beach, looking out to the sea, the wind blowing, it felt nostalgic. your manager took a picture with all ten of you that day.
that was the last picture with all ten members.
tzuyu didn’t talk for a week, only when she had to. and after practice, she didn’t go anywhere else that wasn’t the hospital where you stayed at.
it made her tear up every time she saw how weak you looked, how tired you looked, and she knew you weren’t going to keep fighting for long.
the day you had died, she couldn’t help but sob the entire day, even when her chest began to hurt, she couldn’t stop. she held your hand until you couldn’t grasp it anymore, her heart breaking even more.
the news had broken out of your death, with all nine members going on a hiatus for who knows how long, along with millions of fans from all over the world grieving over your death.
tzuyu thought it wasn’t fair. you haven’t lived your full life. you were so young when you passed. she wanted to take it out on life itself.
all nine members spent their days with tears, hugs, not leaving each others side through the hiatus.
tzuyu eventually learned, along with the rest of the girls, to keep moving forward, no matter how hard it was going to be.
it’s still hard now.
even as she squats now visiting your grave. she brought more flowers for you.
“are you doing good, y/nnie?” she asks you.
with a silent response, she only silently nods before standing back up.
she has conversations with you at your grave a lot, telling how the girls are doing, and how she hopes you’re feeling much better now. where you’re not longer hurting, and hoping you have a smile on your face.
even in the future, as the girls are going on tour for the first time ever since your passing.
they were all nervous as ever, making an appearance as only nine and not ten.
but they knew it would be okay, knowing once would be supporting.
once the curtain opened, fans screamed seeing the girls. they begin walking with smiles on their faces, waving at fans.
tzuyu smiles reaching behind her, turning her head, smile fading since she expected you to reach for her hand as well.
tears brim in her eyes, biting her lip to keep them back, but let them fall anyway.
jihyo quickly goes over to her, taking her hand as they continue walking.
she let herself cry despite not crying much, and she let herself enjoy the sound of your voice whenever your parts came up in a song, letting once sing along.
she knew she’d see you someday eventually.

stuck with you
chou tzuyu x reader (high school au)
summary: in which you fell asleep on the table in the library and no one had woken you up. it seems that no one had woken up tzuyu either.
wc: 2k
warnings: angst(?) ; bad aunt (idk)
Tumblr media
a/n: i can't tell if this is angsty, I was going to make it fluff but it didn't work out. decided to settle on this bittersweet version.
also, i never write angst im gonna be honest soooo
-
your eyes flutter open and you blink at a slow pace as you stir awake.
"shit..." you groan.
falling asleep in the library was a once in a while thing, you didn’t expect it to be so late after you had woken up.
there’s drool on your cheek and it takes you a bit to really regain the ability to see and think clearly as you wake up. your eyes open slowly, you rub at them and a soft groan escapes your lips.
hair falls across your face as you lift yourself up from the desk, and you rub a hand through it as you squint your eyes to take in your surroundings. it's dark – but not dark enough for you to not be able to see at all. everything is relatively visible and lit up by the moonlight sneaking through the windows, it could be worse.
the papers on your desk are still there, though there are three drops of your spit on it from drooling – and you pray no one had seen you like that. you place your papers back into the gray folder that was next to them, then place them in your school bag.
a groan escapes your lips as you stretch your arms out, rubbing your face shortly after to wake yourself up fully.
you reach for the phone on your table, squinting your eyes as you tap the screen and check the time-
2:24 in the morning? as in two-fucking-twenty-four am.
you rub your eyes again because there’s no way. absolutely no way.
the screen doesn’t change, and you’re definitely awake now.
your eyes dart around the room: you’re alone, the moon is out – which, you had noticed, but didn’t think of much until now – and you have no idea how no one had waken you up, or why the librarians or whoever had been here last didn’t notice a whole second year asleep on the table. suddenly, you’re on your feet, walking around the library and there’s still not a soul in sight, and the doors have a metal gate that blocks you from ever getting out.
“shit.” you mumble.
you don’t know what to do, and you’re honestly glad panic doesn’t take over because at least it’s not some creepy warehouse from that movie your dad made you watch when you were seven; it’s just a school library (and the scariest thing might be running into your physics teacher in this place).
you put a hand to your forehead and groan, then your soul almost leaves your body.
“y/n?” a familiar voice murmurs. you jump at the voice, and you turn around quickly:
chou tzuyu.
“hey…”
“what are you doing here?” she questions, you put a hand to your chest and try to compose yourself after the star archery athlete had just scared the life out of you.
“i uh, i fell asleep. i don’t know what happened.” you mutter, rubbing your face with your hand again, “wait, what are you doing here?” and your voice is low, almost a whisper even though the librarians aren’t there. you think their ghosts could possibly be lurking, though.
“i fell asleep too.” she simply explains, shrugging.
“i see.” you whisper, “um, we’re stuck here, there’s no way out and the windows don’t open in this room.”
“oh.” she mumbles.
you two stand across from each other in silence for a bit – the silence stretches out for a bit.
tzuyu was well-known, if not the most well-known individual in the school. she’s the varsity captain of the archery team, taking home so many trophies that you may need more than one hand to count the ones she had won. not only that, she was class president, debate club vice president, and part of the student council: everything colleges needed and wanted. she had everything and was everything.
not only that, she’s probably the most beautiful girl you’ve ever seen in your life, and you’re definitely not the only one who had thought that.
guys and girls, all from different grades – whether that be the underclassmen, the ones in your shared grade, or the upperclassmen – they had all eyed her with admiration and she got asked out at least five times a week, you guess. she was effortlessly gorgeous, she had hit the jackpot not only with her brains but also her beauty.
you had known tzuyu since secondary school, you had three classes with her in the 9th grade and she had been someone you’ve been fond of since – but you could never be with her, ever.
you yourself weren’t too bad compared to her.
third in your class (tzuyu being first and of course mina being second), part of the volleyball team, baking club, cooking club,  and one of the students who had regularly volunteered. you honestly weren’t too bad yourself brains or looks-wise, some girls and guys had hit on you here and there, but you were definitely nowhere near the chou tzuyu – you would never ever be and it bothered you a little if you had to be honest.
tzuyu tilts her head, “were you studying for exams?”
you nod.
“i see.” she mumbles.
it’s so awkward you want to break the window and jump out, and suddenly you’re self-conscious because you know how stupid you look after waking up.
tzuyu stays by your side as you wander around, small talk being made here and there, but the tension in the air is extremely thick and you really don’t want to make a fool of yourself in front of this gift from above.
“how did you get stuck here? i never asked…” you mutter quietly.
“studying.” she says while looking towards the romance section in the library, “i must’ve been exhausted to fall asleep for this long.”
“i see.” you mumble.
you two explore the library, walking around together because deep down you both know you’re a little creeped out by this place, and the company is comforting at a time like this.
the phone in your hand lights up again, it’s just a reminder to drink water, but you scroll down to see the texts from your angry aunt. you pause in your place, and tzuyu quirks a brow as you stare at the phone with a stressed expression,
“y/n?” she calls out softly, “what’s wrong?”
words aren’t able to form as you read through the twenty-three texts:
aunt mei (23 new messages):
y/n?
y/n.
where are you
if you’re out with your damn friends
i swear to god
y/n you were supposed to be home at 8
it’s fucking 12
answer me.
y/n,
when i see you…
y/n i swear
you’re going to get me in trouble
you’re grounded, you hear me?
im sick of your shit
you should be grateful that i don’t tell your parents
i might just do it since youre being so
you don’t even bother to read the next few texts, just for your own sake.
there’s a small breath that escapes your lips, “nothing.” you lie. you’re in deep shit and if your aunt finds out that you’re with chou tzuyu, you’re in deeper shit.
chou tzuyu is not someone you should ever be interacting with, your aunt hates the chou family and their whole bloodline – the chou family probably hates your bloodline too.
moving to this place was not something you wanted, but you had no choice because of that stupid scholarship. moving in with your aunt was something you were not happy about; she’s controlling, she’s exhausting, and she’s fucking crazy.
“you sure it’s nothing?” tzuyu asks, and the question surprises you. your eyes meet hers and there’s a strange softness in her gaze, it’s so weird and you’re not used to such a caring look. you nod your head and shove the phone in your pocket,
“my aunt.” you say, “she’s just uh, worried.” which is another lie. tzuyu just hums and you let out a shaky breath, trying to calm yourself down while you wonder what will happen when you get home, or at least, the house you live in because there’s no feeling of comfort or anything when you’re there.
tzuyu is still looking at you with slight worry, but you ignore it before walking over to the wall hidden behind the shelves, setting your bag down, and sitting down. the slightly shorter girl – which is not a common thing for tzuyu to be – sits down next to you, staring at you while your eyes gaze forward with a hint of despair.
“you can talk to me.” tzuyu assures. it’s so strange, you’ve talked to her two or three times and she’s telling you this. you don’t know if you can believe her words.
“we’re not supposed to talk to each other.”
“it’s just the two of us until the school opens back up.” tzuyu says, and it makes you turn to meet her eyes. they’re so full of hope and care it makes you feel even more hopeless, you can’t talk to her. if you talk to her, you’ll grow more attached, your aunt won’t like that, and your heart already does enough longing from just seeing her every morning at homeroom.
“my aunt.” you start, “she’ll kill me.”
“my mom says she sucks.” tzuyu simply states, staring forward with little to no emotion.
“she’s honestly right,” you say, a playful scoff leaving your lips as you stare in the same direction. silence fills the air again, it’s strangely comforting, and your worries seem to be less overwhelming.
“you know, my mom always told me to stay away from you. she thinks you’re like your aunt or something.” tzuyu begins, “but it only made me more curious of you.”
it might be better if you stayed away, you think. the thin, long fingers on your hand fiddle with each other, “i’m nothing like that woman. i never will be.”
“i see.”
tzuyu turns back to you and watches you as your head sinks back into the wall, your eyes slowly flutter shut as exhaustion takes over. you don’t want to fall asleep, that means you’ll have to see your aunt soon if you do.
“sleepy?” tzuyu asks,
“yeah.”
“sleep,”
“can’t.”
“why?”
“i’ll wake up.”
the dark-haired girl looks at you in surprise, her brows furrow.
your eyes open again and it feels like all the life in you had been sucked out, as if all hope was drained out of you. you never liked the word hope. it was a stupid word that led you on. you had lost all hope a month after living with your aunt, there’s no point in having if it won’t change anything; it wouldn’t ever change anything for the time being.
there’s something about tzuyu that returns that belief in the word ‘hope,’ and you don’t know if you like that. it’s as if her presence had gotten rid of your aunt.
“you can wake up next to me.” tzuyu assures. you look at her with a new feeling in your chest, your heart is warm and it’s so strange. “i’ll be here. you don’t have to worry about waking up near your aunt.”
“why all of this so suddenly?”
tzuyu shrugs.
“i told you, i’m curious.”
you stare at her for another moment, and you’re afraid of staring for so long because your heart seems to open up a bit, as if it were a flower in bloom. everything that you feel and experience is so new and scary. tzuyu is so close to you and every word from her is so caring makes your heart yearn and ache at the same time; you want her so badly in this moment, but you know it’s impossible to hold onto her forever.
the bag that was set down is now in your lap, and you hug it as if it were the thing that could keep you safe from what you might have to face later. your eyes close and your whole body relaxes a bit, it's okay if you fall asleep because she'll be there next to you.
exhaustion takes over once again and you’re out like a light.
tzuyu stares at the way your features soften and the way your whole body relaxes, she thinks you’re a nice sight. she’s been curious and drawn by your mysterious, quiet personality, it seems like your aunt is the reason you’re like that, maybe she could get to know the real you someday.
she takes one more look at your face again, letting her eyes trace the lines of your sharp features, really taking in your presence.
tzuyu doesn’t mind that your head falls over to lean on hers, as long as you're comfy.
she closes her eyes and allows herself to fall asleep beside you.

momo x reader - “drunken mistake” (warnings: angst with happy ending, intoxication, cheating[not really], arguing)
a/n: requested! i’ve never written angst before, pretty please give me feedback.
word count: 1.6k
with all of the current concerts, traveling, rehearsing, and such, you and your members haven’t gotten much free time at all. so of course when your managers told you guys there was a break in the schedule for entire weekend, you jumped at the opportunity to let loose a bit.
you normally can’t drink at all when you’re on tour because there’s so many things you have to do, but a weekend is the perfect amount of time to do so.
after your concert on friday, you all showered and met up in one of your hotel rooms. you decided to buy drinks and sit around, talking about random things. this is what’s happening right now. most of the members are very drunk, but you still haven’t had any drinks, and neither has your girlfriend, momo.
you and momo’s relationship isn’t exactly new. you’ve been dating for about a year or so and all of the members have been nothing but supportive.
momo is not normally responsible, so the fact that she’s not shotgunning beers with jihyo right now is impressive. you’re guessing her reason is entirely perverted though. she keeps staring at you with ‘fuck-me’ eyes. you can tell what she wants, but you’re not going to give in just yet.
“pass me one.”
you point at the cooler in the corner of the room and jihyo passes you a beer. you open it and drink it all at once, earning a few ‘woos’ and claps.
“guys! you know what she should do?”
jeongyeon stands up, snapping to get everyone’s attention.
“we should play never have i ever! we haven’t played in forever.”
everyone immediately jumps to their feet and walks to the middle of the room, sitting in a circle.
“can i start, please?”
tzuyu throws her hands in the air and pleads with you guys to let her go first. you all let her of course, given as she’s basically twice’s baby and gets whatever she wants.
“never have i ever told someone i would share a room with them but then actually stayed with someone else.”
she asks while looking at dahyun the entire time, definitely a targeted question. the game continues with relatively innocent questions and jabs at certain people, until it gets to sana’s turn.
“never have i ever fucked someone in this room.”
she stares you and momo down, obviously waiting for you both to put a finger down, so you do. you both roll your eyes at everyone who’s sarcastically gasping and just expect the game to move on.
“hey, why isn’t one of your fingers down, nayeon?”
you sit, half in shock at this revelation, until you realize what chaeyoung is referring to with that question.
a few months ago, while you were still in korea, you all went out to celebrate the new tour and got a little too carried away with the drinks. the j-line was busy preparing for their debut since they’d be on tour shortly and wouldn’t be able to shoot, so momo couldn’t join you. when the night was over, chaeyoung offered to take you and nayeon home with her since you both drunk way more than everyone else. you said yes and chaeyoung drove everyone to her apartment. in a drunken, sexually frustrated haze from not seeing momo in so long, you let nayeon kiss you bit. that was it, just kissing.
when you woke up the next morning, chaeyoung told you both what you did and how she stopped it before it went any further than kissing. you felt horrible, but begged nayeon and chaeyoung not to tell momo. you figured she’d never find out, and you and nayeon didn’t actually do anything, so hurting her by telling her wasn’t worth it.
“chaeyoung, i’ve never done anything with anyone here.”
nayeon tries to play it off and move the conversation along, but chaeyoung just won’t let it go.
“no, remember that one time at my house? you and y/n?”
momo awkwardly giggles beside you, hoping she heard it wrong or chaeyoung was just too intoxicated to know what she was saying.
“chaeyoung, you’re drunk. stop talking.”
you snap at her, looking at nayeon for help.
“stop gaslighting me. i saw what you two did.”
momo’s smile is completely faded, she’s just staring at you and nayeon with heavy eyes.
“what is she talking about?”
the room is completely silent, all eyes are on you and momo. her nose is rosy and you can tell she’s holding back tears. you open your mouth to deny everything, to explain, or even just to apologize, but nothing comes out. a tear streams down her cheek and she abruptly stands up, running to the door and out of the room.
“momo!” you yell and run right after her, glaring down at chaeyoung on your way out.
you reach the door of your dorm right before she shuts it, pushing it back open and locking it behind you. momo is standing at the foot of your bed with her hands on her hips, eyes glossy with tears.
“momo, i didn’t sleep with her. chaeyoung is drunk, she didn’t know what she was saying.”
your hands are shaky and your face feels hot even though the air around you is icy. momo’s silent sobs shatter you entirely, how could you hurt her like this?
“momo, please talk to me.”
she wipes her tears as more fall down, crossing her arms in front of her.
“what do you want me to say? you’ve been keeping this from me for god knows how long, and i didn’t even find out from you.”
her voice breaks at the end of her sentence.
“i thought telling you would just cause unnecessary pain-“
she interrupts you before you finish.
“don’t fucking say that. if you had told me when it happened, i would have been angry and upset, and maybe i would have needed some time; but i would have understood. right now, i don’t know what i need or feel. i genuinely don’t.”
her face is completely flooded with tears, it’s destroying you to see her like this. how could you be so stupid? you’re crying along with her now, choking back loud sobs.
“please don’t say that. i know what ‘i don’t know what i want’ means, and i can’t do that momo. please don’t make me.”
you walk closer to her, putting your arms around her neck. she stands there for a second with her face turned to the side, then she steps back, removing your arms from around her.
“you don’t get to ask me for that.”
her expression turns cold, there’s no trace of sadness or anger. she wipes her tears away one last time and they don’t come back, which just makes yours grow stronger.
“no, don’t do that. be angry at me, yell at me, even hit me if that’ll make you feel better. but don’t be apathetic, please.”
“you betrayed me, y/n. nayeon betrayed me. fuck, even chaeyoung betrayed me. this would have never come out if she didn’t get drunk. where were your emotions all this time? you didn’t seem upset at all, why should i be?”
her words cut deep because she’s entirely right. you felt guilty for maybe a week, but you quickly forgot about it. nayeon and chaeyoung never brought it up again, which likely means they also forgot. none of you felt any sort of way about it after it happened, so why should momo? fuck, you were so dumb. this is all your fault, you should have told her, why didn’t you just tell her?
“you’re right, i did betray you. but i love you hirai momo, only you. all i did was kiss her, that was it. i’m so sorry.”
your stomach sinks as she stands in front of you without saying anything. you have nothing else to say, no more defense. all you can hope for is that she’ll take some time and come back to you. you can’t lose her, you refuse to.
you feel ashamed of how distraught you are in front of her. you’re the one who wrong her, yet here you are; in uncontrollable tears while she looks at you completely somber.
“why didn’t you just tell me? if it was really just a kiss, why not just tell me?”
there’s a few seconds of silence while she waits for you to formulate an answer.
“because i was drunk, and i was weak. i missed you so much, i just needed to feel someone; i didn’t care who it was. i didn’t want to tell you that, momo, because i realize i sound like a whore.”
you can see her eyes glaze over again and you feel relieved in a strange way. this means she cares. she steps closer to you, wiping away your tears as her her own fall down once again.
“don’t call yourself that. you’re not a whore. i left you alone, this was basically my fault.”
you put your hand over hers, still on your cheek.
“no, don’t blame yourself, please. i already feel bad for doing it, i don’t want to feel worse because you’re taking the blame.”
your foreheads press together and you just stand there, crying for a few of minutes. she presses her lips against yours, not letting go for a couple of seconds.
“i love you, so much, and i know you love me back. this is a big bump in the road, but we’ll get over it.”
momo pulls away to reassure you that everything will be fine, kissing you once more before fully pulling you into her arms and embracing you tightly.
“thank you. thank you so much for not immediately breaking up with me.”
“don’t thank me. just trust me when you make a mistake, please.”

Unrequited Longing
Chou Tzuyu x itzy female reader
Warning-angst, also lee y/n pov
A/n-third story🤭( honestly fun writing these)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the grand scheme of things, my life was perfect. I was part of a successful K-pop group called ITZY, and my fellow members, Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna, were not only my bandmates but also my sisters. We had fans all over the world, and our music brought joy to millions of people. It was the dream life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
But there was one thing that made it all a little bit less than perfect. One thing that gnawed at the back of my mind, like a rat in a maze, constantly reminding me that no matter how hard I tried, I could never quite escape it: my hopeless crush on Tzuyu , the adorable maknae from the group TWICE. She was everything I could ever want in a girlfriend: talented, beautiful, and seemingly kind-hearted. The problem was that she already had a boyfriend. A boyfriend who, by all accounts, was a complete jerk. But that didn't change the fact that I wanted to be with her. And knowing that I could never have her only made me want her more.
It was a constant source of frustration and heartache, this unrequited love for Tzuyu. I tried to distract myself with my music, with my fans, with my sisters in ITZY. But no matter how hard I tried, her face would pop into my head at the most inopportune moments: when I was on stage, when I was in the recording studio, even when I was just trying to sleep at night. It was as if she were a phantom limb, a part of me that had been severed but still ached with longing.
I knew I should let her go. I knew that if I kept pining after her, it would only hurt me more in the end. But try as I might, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something about Tzuyu that made her different from all the other girls I'd ever met. She had this light, this sparkle in her eyes that made me feel like anything was possible. And whenever we'd see each other at K-pop events or award shows, it felt like the world just melted away, leaving it just the two of us. It was a connection so strong that even now, with all the distance and obstacles between us, it still burned brightly in my heart.
But I couldn't have her. And so, I continued to suffer in silence, my heart aching for a love that could never be. Because no matter how much I wanted it, no matter how much I wished it were different, the reality was that Tzuyu was taken. And as much as it hurt, there was nothing I could do about it.

First Love with Nayeon
- angsty but turns into fluff, kinda talking about homophobia in the beginning?? (just the whole im scared of others to hear it thing)
_______________________________________
Confessing your love for her was probably somehow the most difficult thing in your life. The fear of rejection, of judgment, actually of everything, it was always there. What if she will hate me? What if she never wants to be friends with me again? Something like that was always in your head, for years. But those thoughts disappeared the moment Nayeon said:
"I love you"
She left after wiping away a tear from her cheek. You just stand there - in actually her apartment. You just couldn't live with the thoughts anymore, just wanted to get rid of it. You just started talking. How much this friendship is dragging you down and stuff, but Nayeon was hit harder than you thought.
You walk around her apartment a bit, walk to the dresser in the living room - pictures of you together, hugging, kissing eachother on the cheek, laughing together and so much more. You feel yourself smiling. And then it hits your head.
You really love her.
That moment actually showed you how much you actually like her.
"Shit," you mutter. You grab your jacket and put it on as fast as you can. You run out of the apartment, slamming the door behind you. She can only be at one place...
_______________________________________
"This is where I always go when I want to be alone"
She said as she showed you a bench in a park, her "comfort place" as she called it.
_______________________________________
It is dark when you arrive, you see the back of a person sitting on the bench. It can only be her.
"Nayeon" you call out. She doesnt move, continuing to stare at the water infront of her.
"I know you heard me" you walk towards the bench she is sitting on and sit down next to her. Except for the waves and some light gusts of wind, it is completely silent, your breathing not in time. "Are you serious?" you ask, it's soft, a low whisper that makes someone listen clearly to really hear it all.
"Why shouldn't I mean it?" she asks back, again in that quiet tone. As if there were people around you, but you are completely alone. The fear that the world will hear is too much. You are silent, she answers her question herself, "I didn't kiss you on the cheek all the time for fun. Or hugged you like no one else did. I kind of wanted to show it without having to...", she pauses, thinking about the right way to describe it, "..say it."
"Do you think they will loathe us?" you ask quietly, one could even think that you say it in a frightened tone.
"I don't know." she answers.
"Me? Maybe... problably. But you? I don't think so." she says, a soft sigh afterwards. A tear runs down your cheek.
Just tell her. Damn it, you know. Tell her.
Your thoughts are overwhelming you. Nayeon gets up and slowly walks away, you sit on the bench, not daring to move in any way. You stop breathing and just sit there.
You do love her. You know it. You are alone. Its just the two of you. What are you waiting for?
You do love her?
You love her.
You stand up, your legs moving faster than you can think.
"Nayeon!" you call after her, she is already further away, but you can still see her figure. The street is almost dark, with only a few streetlights left on. You run after her, and suddenly, you reach out. Your hand around her thin wrist. She stops, looking at you with a glance over her shoulder. Her eyes red from tears. You haven't even looked at her face once since she left you alone in her apartment.
"We could be seen-..it's better if you go.... I-I need time, alon-" you stop her from talking further.
You kiss her. Your lips on hers. Your hands on her cheeks.
You slowly pull away from her, taking a step back. You wipe your tear away from your face and smile at her.
"You don't know how long I've wanted to do this," you say.
"I don't care if the others see it Nayeon" you take her hand and walk with her back to the bench. "I just want to be with you" you sit down on the bench.
"I know you said you come here to be alone, but how about we just be "alone" together?" you smile again. So does she. She breaks her silence. "That's a very good idea" she takes your hand in hers, your fingers stroking each other's.
It feels like you've always been this happy.
"I love you" you say, no longer in that strange, quiet, fearful tone.
"I love you too" replies Nayeon, loud and proud. You both laugh, your cold hands warming each other.
You could sit on that bench forever, away from everyone. Just the two of you on a very cold winter night, but it doesn't matter. You both have each other, and that is completely enough.

i'll carry the moon and stars, i'll carry you and me
-- jihyo / tzuyu. 1.4k - light angst, fluff - hurt/comfort, light mentions of blood // MEN DNI.
tzuyu goes home to jihyo.
Tumblr media
it’s late at night and pouring outside, a constant static of crashing cascades instead of rhythmic patters.
jihyo still finds it calming, though. there’s always been something about the simultaneous state of disarray and comforting orderliness that came with storms and thunder.
it also meant she had an excuse to curl up under a blanket and watch every movie she’d been neglecting. not that she needed one, but it was always nice to have.
a little mundane for a detective, maybe, but some mundanity has always been needed to balance out a life like hers.
peace in chaos, if you will.
comforting orderliness in states of disarray.
so, jihyo picks out her most comfortable pyjamas, and makes the best cup of tea she knows how to make – which only consists of choosing the most expensive brand of tea she has and actually boiling water instead of microwaving, but such is life.
she’s still humming and waiting for the kettle to sound when her doorbell rings, a barely discernible ding in the storm.
she pads her way from her kitchen to the living room, right up the entrance of her house. it’s too dark outside to see anything through the peephole, so she opens the slightest crack in her blinds.
the light from inside spills out, and the outline of a familiar figure is illuminated.
jihyo opens the door instantly. instinctual, immediate.
“tzuyu?”
tzuyu looks up at the sound, and jihyo’s chest tightens.
her cheeks are smeared with blood, gaze weak and lidded. her suit is ripped and there’s splashes of dirt and more blood over her usually stark white button up. everything is drenched in the downpour. her clothes drip with rain.
tzuyu’s voice is painfully soft.
she opens her mouth but nothing comes out, the rain drowning out every syllable.
but jihyo hears her clearly.
she knows when tzuyu says –
“jihyo unnie.”
jihyo’s heart shatters.
she wants to tug tzuyu in by the wrist and ask her every question in her mind – what happened, are you okay, who did this – but tzuyu takes a single step in, and she loses all strength.
“tzuyu!”
jihyo surges forward; without thinking, without hesitance.
tzuyu falls right into her arms.
boneless, completely weak.
the rain from her clothes soak through jihyo’s pyjamas, she’s piercingly cold to the touch. jihyo feels her tremble, meek and shivering. every breath she takes comes out shakily, every exhale barely there.
jihyo’s never realised just how small tzuyu is, finding solace in her arms.
it hurts terribly to see.
maybe it’s the adrenaline, or pure determination – but jihyo hoists tzuyu up with everything she has, carries her unfalteringly until they reach her shower.
she sets tzuyu down and hurriedly pushes her damp blazer off; clenches her teeth at the sight of more blood revealed on the sleeves of tzuyu's white shirt.
"who the hell did this, tzu?" jihyo seethes, pulling a towel off the rack and wrapping tzuyu up. "what happened?"
"i don't know…" tzuyu says weakly, clutching at the towel and curling into herself for warmth. "some other gang– "
then, softer; shakier, "sorry… you– you were the only person i could think of."
jihyo pulls tzuyu into her arms as tight as she's able to, presses tzuyu into her shoulder, cheek to temple.
she's still worried sick, but at least tzuyu's conscious and speaking.
at least tzuyu's here with her.
"are you hurt anywhere?" jihyo's voice cracks, pained. she lifts tzuyu's head gently to cup her face, caressing a thumb over her cheekbones and looking over the wounds.  "... is this your blood?"
tzuyu doesn't say anything, just looks at jihyo, eyes watery and lips pursed.
"oh, baby," jihyo mutters.
she realises, tzuyu's not so much shaking from the cold than shaking from whatever happened to her before all this.
she's scared.
jihyo decides her questions can wait.
"take a shower, i'll get you a set of clothes," she says, stroking tzuyu's cheek one last time and laying her palms on tzuyu's knees. "okay?"
tzuyu catches jihyo's wrist before she stands up; whispers, "stay with me?"
her fingertips are still freezing, so jihyo adjusts her hold until her hands are covering tzuyu’s. just a little warmth.
“okay,” she raises their hands up to her lips, presses a kiss to tzuyu’s knuckles. “i’ll get us clothes.”
--
jihyo has seen her fair share of blood and slashes, but peeling tzuyu’s soaked red clothes off still makes her wince. tzuyu sucks in a sharp breath at times, some wounds a little more tender than others.
the most obvious ones are gashes below her ribs and another on her thigh, then bruises here and there. there’s more blood on her jaw, but jihyo can’t tell if they’re tzuyu’s or someone else's.
tzuyu stays close the entire shower, and jihyo focuses on washing her hair first. she kneads the shampoo into tzuyu’s head gently, massages her fingers into her scalp and detangles whatever she can.
the shower adds on to the rain outside; it’s loud in tzuyu’s ears, a mess of sounds.
tzuyu clenches her fists, lets jihyo work her fingers through her hair despite the sensitivity of water passing over her wounds.
she tries to focus on jihyo’s eyes – dark brown, then golden when the light catches them just right. they’re distracted and darting, cautious and wary, but soft around the edges, fading into black at the rim of her irises.
it becomes apparent that the blood on tzuyu's face isn't tzuyu's own. jihyo doesn't know if she should be worried or relieved.
she cleans tzuyu's wounds in the shower, too, gently rinsing the cuts with warm water. tzuyu flinches whenever jihyo dabs at it, whimpering and shaking softly.
jihyo intertwines her free hand with tzuyu’s, squeezing reassuringly. “just a little more, tzu.”
tzuyu squeezes back, eyes closed.
for the most part, jihyo's voice is soothing enough to help her endure the pain.
"this part won't hurt, don't worry."
she rests her head on jihyo's shoulder still, and jihyo tries not to ache too much at the feeling of tzuyu tearing up, holding her breath throughout.
the gashes don't look deep, so jihyo places a gauze dressing over them and settles with wrapping tzuyu up in bandages.
"can you walk?" jihyo asks, scratching lightly at tzuyu's scalp and running a thumb over the shell of her ear.
tzuyu nods, releasing the breath she was holding. she uses jihyo as leverage to stand up, but shifts most of her weight on her uninjured leg.
jihyo stands with her, letting tzuyu hold on to her shoulders as they dress.
"thank you," tzuyu says, slipping jihyo's oversized t-shirt on.
it fits just right when she wears it, and it smells perfectly of jihyo.
"sorry," she adds. "i won't– "
"don't be," jihyo cuts in. "i know it's a given for… what you do."
she curves her palm around tzuyu's jaw gently, almost as if she's afraid of hurting tzuyu. tzuyu can't help but turn her head to nuzzle into the touch.
"just come to me, okay? any time," jihyo continues, stroking tzuyu's face. "i'm always here. i'll always, always open the door for you. i'll do all of this again if you ever need it. remember that."
tzuyu nods. "i know."
she places a hand over jihyo's, kisses her palm.
remembers the storm outside, how she staggered through the downpour with barely any conscience, light-headed from the fight. she'd shown up at jihyo's house naturally; an innate desire to just want to be with jihyo.
there was nowhere else she’d rather have gone.
--
tzuyu wakes up in jihyo’s arms at dawn, turns her head to check if jihyo’s awake.
jihyo has tossed all the blankets over tzuyu, she knows tzuyu runs cold. she has one hand over the part of tzuyu’s abdomen that had been injured, and the other plays with tzuyu’s hair idly.
“i have to go to work,” she says, seeing that tzuyu had awoken. her voice is low and raspy in the morning. “will you stay?”
tzuyu hums, stretches until she can curl an arm around jihyo’s waist. “can i?”
she's still sore, and every move sends a sharp pain to the gashes. but it's better. better than if she were alone.
“always." jihyo kisses her temple.
she leans down again to brush tzuyu’s hair aside, presses another kiss to her forehead. “i have to get a few urgent things sorted at the office, but i’ll be home quickly, okay?”
tzuyu smiles. “i’ll be here.”
where else would she go?
the rain had stopped sometime in the night.
she’s warm, she’s safe.
and she’s with jihyo.
even if tzuyu is chaos in all her ways, jihyo is peace.

Wait! You like me?!
Chou Tzuyu x Fem!Reader // Fluff+angst?
----------⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☁︎------------
A/N: Actually tried to edit this one, so hopefully it’s not too bad. Its also based off of that one interaction between her and Chaeyoung where they hugged and Tzuyu’s heart started racing. Enjoy<3
Tumblr media
“Oh Tzuyu, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE sees the way you look at her.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Mhm, yeah sure, love. You’re obsessed.”
Tzuyu was infatuated with you. Every little aspect. She’d adore how your eyes would sparkle at the mention of something you liked. Or how you’d tilt your head when you didn’t quite understand something. Or even the stupid insults you’d give her when she would jokingly insult you. And yet, she didn’t want to believe that she was in love with her best friend. Despite all the signs saying otherwise, she refused. Even if she was, would she ever tell you?
Probably not.
It wasn’t in her nature. She wasn’t sure if it was the persistent fear of rejection or if it was the fear of losing you, her safe place, her everything. Just at the mere thought of it, her heart would begin to ache in the most unbearable way possible. She did everything in her power to remove that thought from her mind, but as her feelings for you grew, so did that possibility. It was like a tumor spreading throughout her brain. Tzuyu had thought that she was doing a great job in concealing it, but apparently not since Dahyun pointed it out.
It didn’t help that you were now on your way over to her. She had been standing with Dahyun near the lockers whilst you finished talking to your teacher about some economics assignment. You strolled over with the most endearing smile plastered on your face. Tzuyu’s stomach churned, a mess of nerves and elation skipping around inside. You were the clingy type, so when you got closer, you immediately opened your arms in greeting to which she reciprocated. Her heart hopped about as she held you in her embrace. You had a certain scent that brought Tzuyu comfort. A fragrance consisting hints of sweet floral and something she couldn’t quite pinpoint that brought her a soulful nostalgia of her childhood. She almost didn’t notice the pounding against her chest until you had mentioned it.
You spoke with a soft giggle, “Tzuyu, your heart’s racing.”
She nearly choked.
“My heart? I think I’m healthy,"she’d said, stepping back with her hand on her chest.
It was a stupid excuse, but with you being the happy little airhead you were, you believed and thought nothing of it. So, in a sense, it wasn’t Tzuyu’s downfall like she thought it would be. She was a bit disappointed though, she couldn’t deny it. Out of awkwardness, she let go of you hoping you wouldn't get the wrong idea, which you did, but it was all to her advantage. She missed it. How couldn’t she? There was something about holding you that left her at peace with it all. But she didn’t spend too much time lamenting it as you completely dismissed what happened.
“Hey Tzu? Are you busy after school? Ms.Kang said that we could work on the economics assignment together. I was wondering if you’d want to work with me.”
She nodded, “Of course I want to work with you. Do you even have to ask? You really are slow aren’t you”
You groaned and rolled your eyes in annoyance. “I will not hesitate to strangle you, you know.
“Can you even reach my neck Y/N?”
“...”
“Explode, thank you very much. Anyways, I’m heading to History. See you after school, Tzu?”
“Yeah sure, see you then N/N”
And with that, you left leaving Tzuyu and Dahyun alone once more.
“You think you’re healthy? Really? Was that the best you could do?” Dahyun snickered.
“Ugh shut up. I don’t think she really thought about it anyways. Wait. Did she? Holy shit, did she?”
“You’re lucky Y/N is dense. Anyone else would’ve seen right through it. Tzuyu, babe, you’re PAINFULLY obvious.”
She groaned. It wasn’t her fault that her heart decided it was the best time to have a party in her ribcage. Out of all times, did it really have to happen the second you hugged her? The more she thought about it, the more nerves settled in her. Hell, she even thought about canceling on studying later out of fear of it happening once more. But she didn’t want to do that to you. Plus why would she cancel being with you? She always enjoyed it after all. It’ll just be another day of pushing aside her feelings for you anyways, right?
Wrong.
School finally ended and Tzuyu went straight to look for you. And she did end up finding you.
But with someone else.
She watched as the tall boy brought his arms around your waist; as he peppered kisses on the crown of your head; as he did everything Tzuyu wished she could do. Her heart sank as she stood there, frozen in place, unsure of what to do. She didn’t know whether she should leave or approach you. You seemed so happy. She didn’t want to ruin that for you; her knees felt weak. Tzuyu didn’t know if it was even possible for her to walk away.
You did however notice that. Even from a distance, you noticed her awkwardly stiff demeanor and immediately ran up to her.
“Hey! Sorry it took me so long. Yeonjun was being.. Uhm. A weirdo. Yeah, he does stuff like that.” You said.
She let out an awkward laugh. “No, yeah, you’re good. Are we walking home together?”
You nodded and smiled your usual pretty little grin taking her hand in yours. That was also one of your habits. Walking with someone empty-handed wasn’t an option for you. This time felt different though. The hand you held was shaking, trembling. It wasn’t anything aggressive, barely noticeable in fact, but for some reason, you seemed to be hyper aware of it.
Tzuyu wouldn’t dare look at you. She felt as if doing so would cause her to break down in tears. The scene from earlier was engraved in her mind, never to be erased. The girl sniffled quietly, tears threatening to pour from her eyes. You weren’t hers, so why was she so bothered? All she wanted to do at the moment was crawl into a hole and die, but of course she couldn’t do as little as show you. Too bad you already noticed.
The weather seemed to read Tzuyu’s mood though, so you didn’t get a chance to do anything right there. Dark clouds painted the sky as they grumbled upon you two. One after the other, the sky cried heavy tears. And shortly after, your best friend did too. Surely you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, right? Wrong.
You dragged Tzuyu to the nearest neighborhood market, away from all the rain, where she plopped down in the corner. She was soaked. Both her tears and the rain left her drenched. She’d stopped crying by then, so you took this opportunity to ask.
“Tzuyu, what’s wrong? You’ve been quiet the entire walk home, well, not home since we aren’t there yet, but you know. Not to mention the crying when it started raining and the shaky hands! And don’t tell me it’s nothing. I know it’s not ‘nothing’”.
She took a deep, shaky breath and avoided eye contact.
“Uhm… My stomach hurts really bad. I’m having cramps. How far is your house from here N/N?”
“I think it's about two minutes away. I’ll get you some Advil since we’re here. I think I have a few dollars left-”
Tzuyu stopped you from rummaging through your bag.
“No-no it’s okay. I’ll be okay, really.”
You tried to protest, but no matter how insistent you were, Tzuyu refused to let you buy her anything. She was much more stubborn than you were. So instead, you bought a transparent umbrella you found on one of the nearby shelves.
“Let’s go Tzu! When we get home, I’ll let you use my shower so you don’t get sick. I have some clothes you can borrow too” You spoke enthusiastically.
Tzuyu nodded, holding the umbrella for the both of you. And before you knew it, you guys were at your house. Quickly, you showed your best friend to the bathroom next to your bedroom before you headed to the one in your parents’ room. She finished much quicker than you did though, so she sat on the blush pink sheets of your soft comforter waiting for you. Her eyes wandered around your room. Tzuyu admired how much effort you put into decorating it. You often told her when you happened to add something new. It was something you took pride in. To finally see it in person, piqued Tzuyu’s interest in a way she couldn’t ignore. She saw the posters you mentioned a while back littering your walls along with the white washed floating shelves you had. Each containing either albums or small figurines of whatever it was that you liked. That was when you entered the room wearing a rose strawberry shortcake t-shirt and ivory ruffled edged shorts. Tzuyu starred with her mouth agape. Everything about this look, well, you in general, just screamed girlfriend material. You were simply divine in her eyes.
“Everything okay Tzu? How’s your stomach? Feeling any better? Oh wait! I forgot to get snacks, be right back. I’ll go get some pain meds too just in case!”
And you left again leaving the lovesick girl alone. But you came back just as quick as you left with your mouth full as well as your arms with the bunch of snacks you took from the pantry. Yet, you still smiled like a dumbass causing Tzuyu to giggle at your appearance. She helped you set the snacks on the bed while reaching out to get the assignment from her backpack. Well, she was until she noticed your lips form a pout.
“What’s wrong N/N?” She asked.
“Welllllll I know I asked you to come over to work on the assignment, but it’s already so late! We should just play a game or chill out instead. Are you staying the night Tzu? It’s raining after all.”
She took a second to respond.
“Mhm sure, lemme just tell my mom real quick.”
As she pulled out her phone to text her mother, you gently rested your head on her lap finding yourself a bit sleepy. It felt much more comfortable than your pillow ever was.
She had a subtle scent that blended jasmine and vanilla, evoking a puzzling warmth within you. You may have felt literal bliss, but your friend on the other hand, was struggling to keep her cool. Her hands trembled once more as the older girl remembered the scene from earlier. She saw you with that guy. She saw the way you giggled underneath all those kisses. Why the hell were you being so sweet with her if you were with him?
“Y/N…” She started, her voice just as shaky as her hands.
You hummed.
“A-aren’t you dating that one guy? Why are you so touchy with me? Wouldn’t he be upset?”
“Are you talking about Yeonjun? Ew Tzuyu, he’s my cousin! I’d never dream of dating him. Hold on hold on hold on. Are you jealous? Wait, is that why you were so upset earlier? Like I know you told me about your cramps, but you had your period last week. Tzuyu do you like me?”
Her face turned beet red to which she quickly brought her hands up to cover it. But there was no denying it now, she was caught like a deer in headlights. Tzuyu's eyes teared up at the uneasiness in her stomach; her words caught painfully in her throat. The only thing she was able to muster out was a hoarse “I’m sorry” before her tears spilled uncontrollably.
“Hey- no, no. It’s okay, cry it all out. You don’t have to be embarrassed, you know. If anything, I may or may not have had a huge crush on you since like, the second grade!”
Despite your best efforts to console her, you weren't certain if your words were making a difference. But when she paused for a moment, you sat up and took her hands in yours. Gently wiping away her tears, you met her tentative gaze. It wasn't an uncomfortable look; rather, it was filled with admiration.
“You have a crush on me?” Tzuyu asked.
“Mhm! I have for a long time. Honestly, I thought you knew. I don’t really try to hide it. Ugh, and you really called ME slow earlier.”
“Well, to be fair, you kinda are. Dahyun said that my crush on you was ‘PAINFULLY obvious’ and you didn’t notice until now. Apparently EVERYONE knew about it too. Soooo yeah, you’re slow.”
You began to protest, your words tumbling out in a rambling stream of annoyance. But before you could finish your sentence, Tzuyu had closed the distance between the two of you and pressed her tender lips against yours. The unexpected kiss silenced your protests, leaving you momentarily stunned as you melted into her embrace. It was as though all the words you had been struggling to find were suddenly unnecessary, replaced by the simple warmth of Tzuyu’s touch. Her confidence came out of nowhere, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t adore it. Your hand found itself intertwined with hers. This moment would’ve lasted much longer if it weren’t for the lack of air making you pull away. Still, you rested your forehead against hers, wishing that this moment could last forever. But of course something had to happen. The front door to your house slammed shut as you could hear footsteps creeping up the stairs.
“Quick! Turn off the lights and act like you’re sleeping!” You squeaked.
Tzuyu did just that with you following along. And so you laid there in silence for a solid 7 minutes before there was a soft knock on your door; it opened. Your mother’s head peeked through the crack making sure that you were asleep, prior to her going to check on your sibling. Although you feigned slumber, you gradually found yourself falling into it involuntarily. Upon hearing your mother close the door, Tzuyu opened her eyes checking on you to find just that. You weren’t completely unconscious yet. However, you were awake just enough to feel the girl softly kiss your shoulder while spooning you, whispering a shy ‘Goodnight, pretty’ before drifting off to sleep.

————
the wedding ceremony was truly lovely. if it had been your own you would've been thrilled with how it came together.
it was pretty much a winter wonderland. you almost felt as though you were in a fantasy realm filled with vast snowy fields and endlessly falling snowflakes. the arch under which the couple—close friends of yours—stood was made to look like twisted white branches, and the seats everyone sat in were of a similar fashion, somewhat resembling white tree stumps. taking advantage of the holiday season when planning the wedding was certainly a nifty choice, you'll admit.
better yet, you really liked the icy blue bridesmaid dress the brides had picked out for you. and the wintry themed jewellery. and the glassy shoes that might as well have been cinderella's glass slippers. you'd even go as far to say you felt pretty, looked pretty.
however, feeling and looking pretty didn't distract from the fact that he was here. you'd already seen him sitting in the opposite row during the ceremony, because unfortunately for you, the brides are also close friends of chan.
it'd been about a year since you broke up. in fact, it was last christmas.
you’d been in love. you'd spent the day together on christmas eve, exchanged gifts and happily talked over a meal while christmas carols played somewhere in the background. later that night, the christmas movie you'd been watching long forgotten as you moved to the bedroom, you gave him all of you. but the next day—christmas morning—he was gone.
you never found out why.
you'd think a year was enough time to start the moving on process, and it was... kind of... not really. but seeing him again tonight, well, he might as well have taken one of the decorative icicles and stabbed it right through your heart. that's how much it hurt.
of course you'd seen chan a hundred times and some more since that dreadful day, being in the same group of friends and all, but it never got easier.
not when you still loved him. not when he looked ravishing in that almost navy blue suit. not when your eyes kept unexpectedly meeting from across the room.
the wedding reception was well underway as you sat idly at your designated table. people were drinking, getting a little out of control on the dance floor, surrounding the brides in their first few hours of marriage.
it was meant to be happy, but you couldn't feel it. you weren't expecting the effects of last year's tragic christmas to linger for so long, or to come back in full force so close to christmas day.
tears brimmed your eyes. you stood up and headed outside before anyone saw them slip and turn into tiny ice crystals, suitable for the seasonal wedding theme, of course.
it was freezing out in the courtyard. luckily it wasn't snowing in that very moment, but there was a very light layer of snow covering the brickwork and the outdoor furniture. you knew you shouldn't stay outside for long, it was way too cold, you just needed time to pull yourself back together.
crying over chan was absurd.
he left you. on christmas morning. before you even woke up. after your first night together. you should be angry with him if anything. but somehow, you didn't have it in yourself.
your arms snaked around yourself, trying to create some warmth as a voice from behind startled you.
"it's cold out here." you recognised chan's voice, pointing out the blatantly obvious.
you sniffled and dabbed your eyes a little as a shiver wracked your body.
"wait, are you crying?" he was shucking off his jacket now. "c'mere."
chan placed his suit jacket over your shoulders before you had time to protest against it. damn him for being nice when he was the one who break your heart, the reason you were crying.
"now are you going to tell me what's wrong, or do i have to coax it out of you over hot chocolate like i used to?" chan rubbed his hands over you arms to try and warm you up more, and leaned his head in a little closer, insistently.
like i used to.
damn him. you gave the coldest stare you could manage to the man you somehow still loved.
"no," he shook his head, "don't tell me..." his hands fell to his side.
"don't tell you what, chan? that i'm crying because even a year later, it still hurts to see you? is that not what you wanted to hear?" you really did try to sound mean, but your wobbly voice and teary eyes betrayed you.
"it's been a whole year though..." chan frowned, taking a step back from you.
"yeah," you laughed dryly, "a whole year since i showed you all of me, since i told you i loved you, since you said it back, since you left the next morning without explanation, since i had to just get on with my life like nothing happened."
chan looked guilty and immediately broke eye contact with you.
he was about to speak when you added, "and the worst part of it all? despite everything, i still love you."
"you still love me?" he breathed.
"for some stupid reason, yes."
"i never stopped loving you either." chan dared to step forward again.
"then why did you leave christmas morning?" you pulled his suit jacket closer to your body, trying to keep warm.
"i," he sighed, "after that night," he paused again, and an icy breeze flew past the two of you, "after that night i began to doubt if i was enough for you. i mean, you were beautiful—you are beautiful. i just felt wildly insecure and it made me question if i even deserved you. so i left. i knew i shouldn't have, but i didn't have it in me to explain it to you at the time."
the tears filled your eyes once more. you weren't exactly sure how to respond.
all you could manage was a change of topic. "aren't you usually too busy for weddings and all this jazz?" you motioned to the reception inside.
it's true that back when you were dating, chan hardly even set aside time to celebrate his own birthday. he was so dedicated to his work. you could argue that he was almost too dedicated for his own good.
"yes, usually i am." he laughed a little. "but the truth is that i was hoping to see you here tonight. the holiday season reminded me of what i did and it made me overwhelmingly uneasy. tonight i came to say sorry, most of all." chan grasped your ice cold hands in his own.
"chan," you whispered his name, "you're beautiful."
his eyes flickered away from your gaze.
in a moment of courage, you placed a hand on his cheek. "please don't look away from me, love."
and in a bigger moment of courage, his kissed you. deeply.
and you kissed him back. because it was the only thing you'd dreamed of every night for the last year.
"chan, what if someone sees us?" there was a massive glass door between you, in the frosty courtyard, and the wedding guests, inside the toasty warm venue.
he said nothing, but pulled you behind the closest outdoor pot plant, which thankfully, was big enough to hide you from anyone glancing outside.
"do you ever think about how many nights we could've had like that one?" chan said between trailing hasty kisses along your neck.
"every single day, you fool." you smiled, and you felt chan smile against your neck.
"i swear i'll make it up to you, if you let me." he mumbled against the shell of your ear, hands working their way under his suit jacket you wore and over your body.
you threaded your fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck and felt his whole body relax, you knew he loved it when you did that. "only if you promise that you'll be there tomorrow morning."
"i promise," chan looked at you right in the eyes, his hands settling on your hips and pulling you flush against his body, "that i'll be there tomorrow morning, and the morning after that, and the morning after that, and every morning after."
