i love??? having friends???? and doing favours for each other???
so far, this week:
friend 1 wasn’t allowed to go to a concert without someone else. little brother would normally go with, but isn’t yet 19. concert is 10+ only. i go hey i’ll go with you. it’s a great time
going to visit friends in the states. friend 2 is driving down early to pick a bunch of us up from the airport, where we will cram into her tiny car like clowns
my mom tells me she can’t pick me up from the airport when i get back from the states (late at night), i text friend 3. friend 3 says he will pick me up from the airport and i can spend the night at his place. i offer to treat him to lunch. he says chip in for gas it’s fine
it’s fun and good and i love this? i made dandelion syrup a week ago. now i will be distributing it to my friends in little containers. i will be getting rides places. a friend and i continuously buy little things for each other and purposefully do not keep track of who owes who.
it’s i will bring you the rest of the way. it’s we will do this together. it’s let’s have fun. it’s you don’t have to. it’s i love you. it’s i love you too.

Welcome to the blog of some damaged and rejected toys!
Alongside a little bunny who was rescued after a prolonged period of time trapped in a deep pit, we've also found an injured Kickin Chicken, a rejected Dogday, a rejected Huggy model, and some of its rejected Mini Huggies!
With this blog, you can ask whatever you like, but do know the toys don't need to answer you if the question is too painful for them.

WARNING!
This blog will likely contain mentions of drugs, alcohol, alongside heavier topics like mental breakdown, panic attacks, ect, due to the nature of Poppy Playtime. Sexual topics will NOT touched upon, and Suicidal topics will be kept to a minimum if it can be helped.
Be aware that while the person behind this blog is an adult, Bunzo and the Mini Huggies are seen as minors, so for fucks sake do NOT send him any sexual shit.
Roleplay!
"This sort of text will appear when the characters are speaking."
*When the characters are doing an action, it will appear like this*
(And this is how I, as the mod, will speak with someone. I will appear from time to time, so heya)
Extras!
For this blog, Bunzo here is only 3 ft tall and may or may not develop a different name later on due to the fact there are many Bunzo Bunny plushies. Not only that, but while he himself was saved, his vision was not.
Kickin is a bigger bodies initiative model who lost his arm and had his side sliced into by CatNap at the same time. That was how he found the rejected Dogday who came to help him. Kickin is 7 ft, Dogday is 6 ft 7, and Dogday is partially blind in his left eye.
Tyto is the name of the massive Huggy model who was done to try and add a circus motife to their favorite toy, however the idea was scrapped when the toy and his mini huggies didn't come out how the company wanted. While the Mini's are 3 ft 2 with 4 ft arms, Tyto is a whopping 15 ft 2 with 18 ft arms. You can see why the company had issues with this.
No, I do not own or work with Mob Entertainment on Poppy Playtime in any regard, but you can check out the game on Steam or YouTube!

If I had a nickel for every time a (fire-themed) story included a cheesy but heartwarming love story between a girl cursed to harm anyone who touches her and a guy who's the only one that can do so without dying in agony, I'd have two nickels, but it's weird that it happened twice

The Other Untenable Situation
The thing is House Hightower genuinely cannot afford to Not object to Rheanyra succeeding Viserys over his legitimate sons by Alicent. Pretty much no house could but the Hightowers in particular.
In general, the Andal, First Men and (based on Visenya the Conqueror being the eldest and her brothers consort) Valyrian custom is that sons inherit before daughters. To marry a noble woman and then effectively disinherit her sons is a huge violation of the social contract, as well as a huge insult to her house. To not object to that violently would indicate to their bannermen and their enemies that this house can’t or won’t defend its own, and that puts a massive target on their back.
Think Tytos Lannister. A house that won’t demand what it is due, and yes social custom does say the legitimate sons are due their fathers stuff before his daughters get a look in, is going to lose everything.
And House Hightower does soft power.  They do Soft Power really, really well.
The Citadel, the Stary Sept and the giant lighthouse that is their castle are the base of this. They maintain it by diplomacy and respectable (by Westeros standards) behavior and trade and their word being good and overall adherence to the social expectations of the society they are in. The High Tower was siege proof before Bran the Builder was born, they have thousands of years of respect to lose and good conduct to uphold. The social contract is vital to them.
In Westeros this all includes murdering anyone who doesn’t keep their end of the bargain. AKA, the Frey justicication for the Red Wedding.
So when Viserys married Alicent without first stipulating that Rheanyra would remain his heir no matter what the deal this society understood to be made was that if she gave him sons they would inherited his throne. Alicent upheld their side, there is no Maegor and Ceryse grey area with the glaring absence of heirs here.
Then Viserys broke the deal. House Hightower must either enforce it or their position crumbles.
And then they die.

As your not a big fan of fantasy books in general. What drew you into loving asoiaf? What got you hooked?
now that I'm invested in asoiaf I do genuinely like the fantasy elements of the story, but the stuff that really pulled me in was the human drama and political intrigue etc. I love the character work, almost all of the POVs feel fully realised and subvert typical tropes in really interesting ways (imo). I like the inter-generational drama (the reasons I like succession are v similar to the reasons I like the Lannisters), like if I want to understand Jaime and Cersei and Tyrion I can look to Tywin, and if I want to understand Tywin I can look to Tytos, and if I was to understand Tytos I can look to Gerold, like it's a russian doll of intergenerational trauma what more could a girl want.
and on that note I really like the scope! GRRM obviously feels this need to account for all details minor and major, so that even with everything that's already on the page there's room to extrapolate so much more. i mean here I am writing who knows how many words about a fake 20-episode long robert's rebellion tv series lol like this all happened before the series even starts and yet I hardly need to make anything up bc there is so much to draw on just based on all the random little details we've got here and there from characters reflecting on the same events from different angles, and trying to piece together portraits of the people who died based on the recollections of those on the page who remember them..... it is so fun)
and yeah usually I prefer to read about that kind of thing on a smaller scale but the drama that plays out in AGOT is so engaging that upon initiation I didn't find it so much of a chore to keep track of all the various houses and lands etc in order to understand the full implications of each thing that happened - it felt like it was worth the effort. generally it's the 'keeping track' of it all that I find grating about fantasy bc I really want to just get on with the story rather than keep on top of a hundred magic systems and sub-species of pixie.
and obvs asoiaf is low fantasy rather than high fantasy, i.e. there aren't intricate systems to the magic and or complicated genus for each of the creatures, so that made it feel a lot more accessible for me as someone who just isn't very interested in those kinds of details. Dany's magic is made up as she goes along, it's never explained, and that's the same for pretty much all the fantastical elements - it's very show don't tell. and even though when you count it all up there are quite a lot of fantastical features and subplots, taken together with the rest of the story it's more like.... seasonings I wouldn't usually choose but ended up liking just fine in this overall dish lol
and finally asoiaf just really appealed to me from a fannish perspective! I really hate when you're trying to dig deeper with a work and you quickly start to realise that the writer(s) just weren't thinking that hard. it feels like striking concrete with a spade, like it's a one-sided conversation rather than something both the writer and the reader are participating in. I think some fans are perfectly fine with that and good for them - who cares if the author built the work to sustain your analysis if you're just having fun doing it - but for me it's a complete killjoy, I end up v frustrated and like the work isn't worth my time
so here's GRRM who is so fixated on the finer details that he's churned out a history book like 700 pages long and a bunch of short stories and also another history book just to add a bit more texture to the main story. and I don't have to worry about network input or co-writers or actors' intentions or whatever other external conflict or influence cos for better or worse it's all his story. and that just suits me better lol, it's one guy and his shitty computer, and me reading the shit he wrote with it. pure and simple living in the moment no phones in sight
also jaime and brienne are everything to me xo

how many video game ideas do you even have?
an incomplete list of the bajillion video game ideas I have had over the past ten years (if you want verification, @raptorcivilization is usually the schmuck I pitch to) that I can't do because I lack infrastructure and resources:
a redo of the eyewitness dinosaur hunter game for the modern era (but obviously without the eyewitness brand) - so a 3D virtual museum environment with an on-site dig that brings dinos back to life. would include the history of birds after the end-cretaceous.
a redo of the magic school bus explores the age of dinosaurs game (doesn't have to be associated with magic school bus, a cute kulinda protag will work fine) - so a point and click game where you go to different environments, learn about the history of life, play mini experiments and mini games to learn, etc.
a museum tycoon game (why the fuck doesn't this already exist) (I have an elaborate system in my head that would include ethical collection and museum reputation as important factors)
prehistoric photo safari - you go back in time to different ecosystems and take pictures of various things you're asked to take pictures of, like "a pennaraptoran preening" or "a tyrannosaur family group" that kind of thing
an aviary zootycoon/planet zoo esque game - basically you're creating a zoo but it's only birds. I'm not bitter about planet zoo, no, whose asking.
or just another zoo simulator that's a better spiritual successor to zoo tycoon than planet zoo is, so it would include aquatic and extinct stuff like the zoo tycoons always did >_> also more birds
the same idea as above but now it includes fossil/extinct birds too, you're welcome
a game where you go back in time and gather prehistoric life and bring them back to the present and try to recreate extinct ecosystems, with an emphasis on ecosystem dynamics
similarly, an ecosystem simulator like tyto-ecology except... better. and still being developed. and mostly focused on extinct ecosystems.
a stardew-style farming game but you're ravens in a post-human world, creating a new society from scratch. as birds.
a bajillion different @saurian-game - like games set in different environments including the Manda Beds of the Triassic, the Jiufotang Formation of the Jurassic, literally anything other than the red beds of the Permian, Fossil Lake in the Eocene... the list goes on
domesticated Kulindadromeus sheephearder game (@paleopinesofficial you can just steal this idea and put it in your game, that's fine)
fossil stories - basically you live the life of different extinct animals based on their fossils, so dueling/fighting dinosaurs and stuff like that. it would be your basic choose your own adventure story type dealio.
a dinotopia video game. that's it. that's the entire concept. maybe something like simcity or the sims but in dinotopia. there's something there.
jewish themed stardew valley (this isn't dinosaur/bird or prehistoric life related, I'm just annoyed at the christonormativity in stardew [why does xmas exist in this alternate universe] and want to make a jewish version out of spite)
pet parrot simulator. mainly so that people who love parrots but really can't care for them can play the game. also so people who are thinking of getting a parrot can play the game and find out if they really can take care of one. I recognize pet simulators exist but they're never really accurate when it comes to parrot care.
I know I have more but these are the best ones. The ones I come back to the most are the museum tycoon game, the prehistoric photo safari game, and the redo of the magic school bus dino game; and @raptorcivilization is keeping the dream alive for the remake of the eyewitness game.

Off of the reyne tarbek stuff, they were riding high for a while and really elevated their position both through politics and being a regional bully, but bit off more they could chew and Tywin destroyed them. Was there a version where they could quit while ahead, retaining their benefits from hoth politics and rogue strong arming the westerlands, and get away with it? What would their best strategy be? What was the point of no return, or were they always doomed whenever Tywin became lord?
I think there are a number of strategies they could have pursued:
they could have pursued a strategy of trying to get the Iron Throne onside for replacing House Lannister with the Reynes by prominently supporting Aegon V's campaigns in the Westerlands, and lobbying in King's Landing to build on things like Roger Reyne's leading role in the War of Ninepenny Kings, and in general show the Reynes to be the more effective keepers of the King's Peace in the Westerlands than Tytos.
they could have tried to get the other lesser houses on board more - make dynastic alliances with other families, bribe people, and in general try to supplant House Lannister by getting in first to "suppress" the bandits and outlaws and robber knights or offering their services as mediators in interhouse disputes before the Lannisters can, thus getting other lesser houses to turn to them as the de-facto Wardens of the West.
as you said, they could have stopped while they were ahead. They had already gained an enormous amount of power and influence by the time that Tytos' Love Day truce took place, or before Walderan Tarbeck rode out on his own to intimidate Tytos and wound up thrown in a dungeon. Or rather than handing the Lannisters a casus belli by kidnapping people or openly declaring rebellion, instead make a big show of demanding their rights as noblemen to trial by combat and paint the Lannisters as extralegal tyrants.

damnit I'm really curious about the huggies now cause I don't know what you mean by mock eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Here you go. When I say mock eyes, I mean the white markings on the tops of the paws that in the dark make it look like little eyes. Tigers have the same sort of thing on the backs of their ears. As for size comparisons, Tyto, the largest one, is 15 ft 2 with 18 ft arms. Meanwhile, the little ones are both 3 ft 2 with 4 ft arms. I don't have any names for those last two yet)
