Still reading MDZS (I’ve been taking my time) and I have a question that I was wondering if anyone could answer about colors, as someone who wishes to draw fannart. Is the blue often drawn in Lan uniforms book-cannon??? I can find no textual evidence that Lans having any details in their robes that aren’t white, and would like some. Personally, rn I have the inclination to draw the forehead ribbon embroidery in silver/grey. Additionally, I can’t find Wei Wuxian’s outfit description, and definitely can’t find him wearing a red ribbon. WWX definitely wears black as the Yiling Patriarch, and is probably wearing it during present timeline given ch 14 his description of his father and mother and comparing them to him and Lan Wangji (his father wore black and his mother wore white), but I can’t find any explicit mentions of colors for his robes. The red seems to come from chenqing’s tassle. I can’t even find the color of WWX’s sword glare :(
Further color questions/comments below:
Also only note I could find on WWX eye color is that they were originally dark. In Mo Xuanyu his eyes are described as bright but I can’t find any other mentions. Additionally, it’s unclear if they look alike to me; ik WWX described Mo Xuanyu’s face as definitely not the face of the Yiling Patriarch but this seems to be more about the fact that his face has pristine and bright and youthful vibes. Also he’s shorter lol.
Also for the Jin’s robes the only one that specifies a single flower that I can recall was Jin Guangyao’s, and I think Jin Ling was introduced with flowers (plural) on his robe, so I want to know if anyone knows about this discrepancy. This feels like this could be a translation discrepancy though as according to my minute google search Chinese doesn’t have plurals. “The embroidery on his robes was indisputably exquisite, swirling together into extraordinary white peonies.” Is Jin Ling’s robes vs “the full bloom of the Spark Amidst Snow family insignia embroidered on the chest of his round-collar robe, matched with a nine-ringed belt and a pair of tall boots.” For Jin Guangyao.
I also can’t figure out if WWX wears Jiang’s purple robes when he was head disciple.. I can’t even figure out for certain if all Jiang disciples wore purple, as the mentions of it I find are associated with Yu Ziyuan or her kids (Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli). Because WWX’s robe gets specified as black post burial mounds but I can’t find it before it I’d assume he wears Jiang colors, if they were Jiang colors. If not, and he wears black otherwise, I think this would be because it’s the color his father wore not because Yu Ziyuan is particularly jealous. Actually, it could just be that bells were what indicated being a sect member instead of clothing color, but idk if not color coding sect members is common??
Also can’t figure out if the studying disciples at The Cloud Recesses wore white. My guess actually leans towards yes as at the archery competition all the disciples had to wear Wen red, so if that’s the standard I’d assume they’d have to wear white in the cloud recesses (though the Wens may have been doing a power play).
Also if anyone has a chapter/page number for a description of Wen robes that would be appreciated. I started this post like 30 minutes ago and spent a long while looking for textual evidence (luckily I’m on kindle so I have a search feature) of each clan’s robes but I’m feeling done. .. same with what the burial mound Wens were wearing bc I always see them in Wen robes which in my mind kinda makes sense but also kinda doesn’t, but I haven’t reread to that point.
If anyone has any clothing information of sects/characters that hasn’t been mentioned from book cannon and wishes to share with me I’d appreciate it so much I’m going insane. Or if you have any particularly good resources on embroidery/robes/swords/instruments/hair/other things that understanding would give better idea on how these babies actually dress. MDZS isn’t trying to exist in a particular time period is it? I’ve seen guestimations on the internet of like 2nd century to 6th century, but my understanding is that it’s kinda like high fantasy novels which just get set in vaguely-Western Europe and unmodern.

NRB Plays Call of Cthulhu - Part 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 Ivy Cordova
featuring Teri the maid (sorry Teri) extra words + art info under the cut!
NRB's Call of Cthulhu series was what got me back into NRB, and into making NRB fanart! its very near and dear to my heart and i went a little bit insane trying to make this series of drawings the best they could be. but thats just on brand for lovecraft stuff i guess?
Ivy's portrait was only the second one I drew, so to a certain extent I was still figuring out how I wanted them to look! I designed her fairly similarly to how I would draw Holly, but with a slightly shorter hairstyle to suit the late-1920s time period. (i want to say its 1927? but idk where i got that from.) I figured that although Ivy is a performer, she seemed too calm and down-to-earth to be a flapper, so I went for a longer dress. the slits are probably historically inaccurate, but I added them cause I wanted to show her pose, pls forgive me 😔 The hands at the top represent accusation and perceived guilt, etc, etc. I thought itd be interesting to contrast halo/holy rays imagery with the accusation of a literal murder. thats it, no other thoughts tbh
R'lyehian text inspired by this font! The words say "Ivy" and "Angel" for those who don't feel like translating themselves.

Transformers: Mosaic #425 - "Way To Fall"
Originally posted on October 22nd, 2009
Story, Art - Iván Mas
deviantART | Seibertron | TFW2005 | BotTalk
wada sez: Mas released this highly unconventional strip under pseudonym due to the differences in content to his usual—but he interacted with commenters as usual on deviantART, so I think there’s no harm in crediting him properly. This strip gives an impressionistic origin story for Abraham Dante, the human Headmaster partner of Scorponok and leader of the Machination in Simon Furman’s comics for IDW. Mas uses allusions to Dante’s real-world namesake—writer of the Divine Comedy, a first-person account of a journey through the Christian afterlife—to play up the idea of a deal with the devil. This was Mas’ second attempt at a Mosaic strip primarily consisting of a collage of photos, after “The Oregonian”, but this was the first to be accepted for publication, presumably thanks to its more traditional format and original artwork. The human figures in this strip feature skeletal smiles superimposed over their mouths, the inspiration for which Mas attributes to the novel The Man Who Laughs, the movie adaptation of which apparently inspired Bill Finger in the creation of the most infamous Batman villain, the Joker. See below for a motivational poster released as a preview for the strip, and a machine translation of Mas’ commentary.

Well, I think this page deserves an explanation, for several reasons.
First, if you notice, I have signed with a pseudonym, that's according to the fact that I’ve used a very different—or totally different—style from mine, the cut of the story is intended to be sinister, mature and scary.... seems more a kind of paranoia or nightmare ... hence I decided not to include anything that could identify the story with anything or anyone, in this case ... say it's like a tormented part of me, had made that story ... something like that wanted to make itself understood.
A lot of people tell me that the style reminds me of Dave McKean.... please... I can't compare myself with that man in anything, but I take it as a compliment, the truth is that this was not the intention, but that's how it came out... it's very possible that unconsciously I resorted to his style, even so, he was the first to mix photographs with drawings and textures.... he’s a great artist, I haven’t discovered anything new.
On the other hand I had a thorn in my side, since I try that each mosaic has a more or less different style or a different cut, except when I make "sagas" as Masterforce, for example. Recall that I already made one based on retouched photographs, but it was rejected... now in this second attempt it was all good.
I wasn't sure if Transformers fans would get into the game on this page... it has a very different atmosphere from what we have seen so far, and above all from what we have seen in IDW, much more immature and poor in some aspects.
If we look... each vignette could have several readings or meanings.... for example the first one, we see a baby, lil’ Dante..... the photo’s mouth is swapped, what is below lets us glimpse his true nature..... nature that we will discover in the final vignette, where we see how he has always been, as a robot, an automaton, cold, energetic, calculating, insensitive ... with a big eye, as if it were a God, or something like that....
The second is a long panel, where we review a little of his life... and at the end in the lower right corner, we can glimpse something of "Machination".
The third .... we see him how we see the world leaders .... speaking to the people, in the upper right corner we see some soldiers, a war, the men of power pull while making decisions that condemn many. And that's why they hate them so much... maybe that's why they deserve to die instead of innocents, that's why the silhouettes of the guns pointing at him, the cracked line would reflect the inner torment of that person for something he doesn't have yet or can't get.
And the fifth... he swears allegiance to the devil himself, Scorponok, a superior being with the power to give life and take it away, in the lower right corner we see some demon pointing his trident at them...
As for purely the mosaic ... the idea was easy ... the human being is evil by nature or becomes ... well ... in this case it is clear that from the beginning Dante is a cruel being, and that his spirit is corrupt, like many people, politicians, military, people with power basically ... only they, would have access to deal with someone of his ilk, Decepticons, Demons.
I hope you enjoy it, and for those of you who don't like it, I hope the next one will be better.
Thanks for everything.

Mastodon is great for a quiet fandom life
Even before the buyout, Twitter has been an anxious place for a hobbyist like me.
I want to chill in my fandom bubble and find people who like the same characters I like to connect and chat maybe! I want to shitpost in peace!
Because of how twitter’s algorithm and search function works, I don’t want to force people who don’t like that sort of thing to see what I draw, so I’m careful with how I word my post. I mark the pairing name somewhere so people can mute it. (or find it) I censor full names or series titles so it ’s not found in search. I’ve been doing this for so long it shouldn’t be stressful, but getting stray comments reminds me to stay on my toes.
Mastodon, I realized, is close to perfect place for a peaceful fandom life.
Mastodon is compared to twitter a lot. That’s the wrong way of thinking about it. It’s not about trying to be “engaged” with the site 24/7. It wants to work for everyone, while keeping its focus on safety and making it harder to dogpile on others. That’s freakin’ awesome. Once you understand how it works. So how to get started?
These were my top worries while figuring out Mastodon.
There’s so many instances! What if I join the wrong one? This had me stuck deciding whether Mastodon was even viable. But there is no “wrong one.” you can join any instance, you can even make your own as the sole member. It’s simply having an address to be found.
HOWEVER
You might want to shop around first. When you sign up for an instance, their rules and which instances they don’t interact with are listed. I draw NSFW art, so I wanted to join an instance that allows that sort of thing.
AND
There’s no advantage joining a heavily populated instance. it could lag, more difficult to get into contact with the admins/support. The local timeline is a mess. Small and cozy is best. You can follow anyone, anywhere, anyway.
I don’t know how to follow others from different instances. You don't have sign up to different instances to follow others. The easiest way to do that is to copy their profile URL and paste and search into your instance’s search bar. You can also copy and search their account name, usually displayed by their username. They look like “@[email protected]
I tried doing a search for my favorite thing but got 0 results! I’m proud of this creation, how can others find it? Mastodon’s search will only catch hashtags and URLs from all the instances. While I avoided hashtags with every fiber of my being on twitter, it’s vital to use them if you want public posts to be found by others. So don’t be shy and tag it up, use appropriate content warnings if needed on posts you want others to see! Because of these search limitations, you don’t have to censor words without fear of being found in a random search anymore. It’s great.
Best of all, you can follow hashtags! This way, any post with that hashtag will appear in your home timeline whether you follow that person or not, even from other instances. It’s great to see new stuff without manually searching. To do this, search your favorite hashtag names. Click the hashtag in the search results and in the upper right corner there’s an icon with a plus mark to click. You can remove it anytime by doing the same method.
But I want to follow others who speak different languages, twitter at least has a translate function (for now) Mastodon does too! But it’s up to each instance’s admin to implement the feature. it doesn’t hurt to politely ask them to add it. If they don’t, some apps have it built in! I know Ice Cubes for Mastodon does at least.
Quick tips: —You can change the default visibility of your posts in preferences The default is “public” but if you’re like me, you don’t want every thought out on the public/local timeline. I have mine set for “unlisted” so only followers or profile visitors can see it. The many posting options Mastodon has are almost perfect. I hope someday they adopt Twitter’s circle function.
—You can add filters to words and hashtags you don’t want to see! It just works! This is in preferences.
—No more extra work when you have to delete and repost, the “delete and re-draft” function is the best option ever.
—For the most comprehensive FAQ that answers every little thing you want to know about how Mastodon works and why, https://fedi.tips answers and then some.
I'm still a newb to Mastodon but I love being there so much. If anyone else has tips I've missed I'd love to know!

I've been trying to learn how to draw and I love your art style so much I've been practicing by copying it (just in my notebook not like sharing it anywhere) as I love the way you capture characters and emotion but I was wondering how do you go about simplifying a character? I'm not sure if this makes sense but like what do you look for when taking realistic looking characters and translating them into a stylistic version?
Thank you for the ask! keep tracing and copying, its a great way of building the muscle memory and familiarizing yourself with breaking things down into shapes. It means a lot that my art is something that you wanted to use that for! https://twitter.com/meatgirI/status/1606375868959543298?s=20&t=ve-GgU0nMrUBRZnTj0kI3Q I would say that this tweet by meatgiri is a good way of finding different facial features and breaking the face/eyes/nose into shapes, and that its a really good way of getting started. However I also think that learning proportions and anatomy is a really good way of further pushing this skill. im going to explain it a bit, but if it feels overwhelming or makes art something thats not fun, you dont have to use any of it. youll pick up these things through practice and observation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like trace out these lines on my face. they follow these proportions that are applicable to almost all people. once ive got this figured out, i start to fill in the eyes, nose and mouth.
Tumblr media
(some examples of characters... see how this rule still applies even though they look very different.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
again see the tutorial i linked above to get a feel for breaking these facial features into shapes. this is what i would suggest to practice different types of faces if you dont have a super good understanding of facial structure
as you observe more in faces, you notice a lot of difference in face shape and structure. but this is a really good way to play with JUST facial features and maintain them consistently
if you want to get into facial structure, then you wanna start looking at the actual anatomy
Tumblr media
try to picture where your face sits on your skull. this can help you decide how MUCH of the bone sticks out from under the face. if you are underweight, older, or have shaper facial features, youre going to see a lot more off things like cheekbones
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so now even though im using the same skull as a base, i can still have a different face shape. because this person might be older, they have a stronger jawline, and their features are sunken in
and the cool thing is that this isnt just applicable from a 3/4th angle. the proportions are always like that!! they might change because of perspective or the angle but honestly at that point youd want to start trying to develop your sense of 3d space
this is just a really simple way of diversifying one single method of drawing faces. notice how i only used the one "base" shape
Tumblr media
and here you can see examples of how their faces sit on the skull. obviously you dont need to be drawing perfectly anatomical skulls every time you draw a person, but it does make good practice to trace those shapes. basically training yourself to get better at observing different features!
you can get into even more varying features when you start to use different skull shapes too. all of these characters have different skull shapes and their features change depending on how they sit on that skull
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here is a good demonstration of anatomically correct differences in skulls of different races. Obviously i tend to think of it as masculine/feminine rather than male/female, but this is a scientific model used for identification (which is based off of sex and not gender)
Tumblr media
age can also play into your skull shape and facial proportions. combining all of this knowledge you can not only have a wide range of different characters, but you can also tell a story.
again the less fat you have on your face, the more sunken in your features are going to be. so you can tell your audience about your character just from this alone
Tumblr media
this is a good example. its a soldier before and after war. you can see how the stress, trauma, living conditions, etc, have all changed how he looks.
obviously this is getting into the real nitty gritty anatomical aspect of it but i do think its a really good way to have your characters feel like they belong to the environment they are in. it also just further illustrates my point earlier, how you can have MANY different types of faces even if you are using the same base for all of them. again if this seems overwhelming, its ok! a lot of this is stuff you pick up via observation as you continue practicing. draw what makes you comfortable, draw what you think is fun, and start off simple. Also know that you really dont need to be going into such detail and drawing the skulls haha. thats really just moreso to demonstrate the fundamental understanding. Good luck with art, keep pushing yourself to learn more and draw what you see!! youll pick up on all these subtle details as you keep at it

Do you do art tips?
your very good I want to know how you do expressions
🥺
i can sure as hell try! this is entirely in text sorry <3
half of the battle is knowing how faces move. whether you're drawing people, animals, what have you, having a solid foundation of anatomy will help a ton. make faces at yourself in the mirror, watch shows or documentaries or realistically animated movies - basically just know how skin/muscle squishes and stretches over the skull
im not saying you have to extensively study skulls and muscles. or really even study study. just having a basic grasp of dimensions and that squish/stretch helps a Ton
then you wanna know what style you're aiming for. cartoony? exaggerated? realistic? i usually use a scale of cartoony being shows like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls etc. exaggerated is Dragon Prince or Disney or Vox Machina or some animes. realistic is Arcane or Spiderverse etc. that way you know specifically what to look at the most when figuring out expressions
for practicing them, i think it's best to start small. granted, i started drawing in 5th grade & drew in a super simplified style for years. but it is usually a good idea to start gently and then break into a sprint from there - art tends to follow that trend.
make sure to practice facial features independently. draw eyes & mouths in different states of emotion & in different cartoon styles. USE REFERENCES!!! USE A LOT OF REFERENCES!!! DON'T BE AFRAID OF REFERENCES THEY ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND!
actually yknow what - its tangent time.
people will tell you that using references is cheating and taboo. thats stupid as hell. everyone uses references, from new artists to professionals. use real life, media, and yes you can use art from artists you really like.
tracing is similar! it helps a ton! it gets you familiar with how shapes flow and interact. pick s simple image to draw, like a deer, and draw it freestyle. then trace the deer with the same movements you use to draw normally - trace smart. then draw the deer freestyle again. you will probably see immediate improvement!
just make sure that if you trace from an artist, don't post it without the permission of the artist, don't post if they say no, and never try to pass it off as your own. same with if you heavily reference an existing piece of art.
people say all the time that the best thing to do is practice. practice practice practice. and thats true! but practicing isnt just drawing the same thing over and over again - that'll get you nowhere. real practice is studying, using references, draw consistently (bc your skills will weaken if you don't, trust me on this) all that good stuff.
tangent over <3
so focus on faces! know how they move! know what you're aiming for before you draw and don't be afraid of using references to get the vibe right!
once you can get the emotion in features down, it's fairly easy to translate to different monsters and creatures and people as long as you're aware of how their heads are shaped
and also be aware that improvement takes time. sometimes its a week, sometimes years. i know im still far from where i want to be lol, but we all get there eventually.
and last but MOST IMPORTANTLY! have fun with it! fuck around and find out, & i mean that in the most positive way possible! your art will thank you for it, i prommy

How did you develop your art style? Like how did you find your own voice in your art?
Oh what an interesting question, I never expected to asked abt my art!
Honestly i took a while to think abt this question, and I think a lot i've done about developing my own art style came from seeing things i liked in other people's art and copying it lol.
For instance when i was in the [REDACTED] fandom when i was a young teen there was a very popular artist who used gradients in their work to add depth and color and i liked it a lot, so i started doing it in my work too.
A few years ago i started following an artist and really liked their work bc they had such a strong grasp of color, shape, gesture, and line. And they used these strong, thick lines to fill out the form of their work, but i noticed that the lines often didn't touch and that it didn't matter bc you could still understand and make out the form of whatever they drew just fine. So i decided to stop worrying abt MY lines touching either lol. which is how i ended up with those sort of ghost constructions of figures and shapes i do sometimes.
I can vividly remember seeing a comic on tumblr ONCE where i saw a character have just a line for a mouth that went off their face and i just stared at that panel for a while trying to figure out why i liked it so much lol until i realized it was their expression that i liked. So i kept that in my head, and a few years later i realized that i had started using it in my art too.
Another aspect that has influenced my art is exploring other media and being challenged by my own interests. Like when i was a teen i was very into steven universe and my own ocs. which was fine but didn't challenge me too much artistically. Then in college i got into bojack horseman, and specifically my favorite character was herb kazzaz, a short, fat man with a beard. Completely out of my comfort zone to draw, but i wanted to draw him so bad! so i figured it out!
(some of u might actually be familiar w/ my boajck horseman sideblog @hambone-fakenameington , it hasnt been updated in a while cause im on that rick and morty shit right now lol). But now i have to skills to draw these things by way of my interests in the character.
My fixation with rick and morty was actually so strong at first that i was drawing like crazy, which eventually taught me to focus on and hone my skills with gesture, thumbnailing, and composition bc i wanted to draw so many ideas at once that i couldn't spend too long on each one. (and it also gave me lots of practice). Thanks to my interest in R&M ive also developed skills in drawing very skinny bodies lol, but also on pushing expressions and gestures to extremes that i never used to!
Hell even just trying to figure out how to take features and details from characters in something and translate them into YOUR style can be a big learning and growing experience. (u can see in my old art it took me a while to get rick to look right)
So i guess the overall is that seeking out and consuming media is always important bc you can take a lot of inspiration from something without even realizing it. (honestly if ur feeling stagnant in ur art watching/reading something new can be a good way to jog ur brain). And taking a good look at the art you enjoy and trying to figure out WHY u like it, and what elements are stick out to u. Then seeing if you can bring those elements into ur own art and see if it's successful to u to explore it.
as far as voice goes um.... i guess what's become important to me is that u gotta know when to cut corners lol. like a hand doesn't ALWAYS need to be perfectly formed, like it can be a squiggle and it might even look better for it. sometimes loose and sloppy looks good for what ur doing and sometimes heavily defined and carefully lined work is necessary but i gotta remember that the clean art is built on the back of the sloppy studies. and stray lines, warped perspective, and unaligned facial elements can give a lot of character to a work that might otherwise seem bland and stiff.
thank you so much for the question it was fun to take a look at my work and reflect on how i got to what i have as a style now! R&M has honestly done A TON for my art style and drawing abilities that i didn't realize till now.
Also worth mentioning bc i forget how much of my life i share w/ you guys but i also have BFA in Illustration with a focus in Animation Arts and Sequential Art.

Happy new year, everyone! In trying to think about my 2023 goals for this blog, I had to look back on how I did in 2022, which had me realize 2022 had been a year of progress and brand-new content on this blog! This means I have many things I need to keep track of and work to continue on, and I had to go through my blog to do some record keeping. This led to me writing this 2022 highlight.
1. Continuation and expansion of PGSM Liveblogs!
In addition to completing the liveblog of Act 14 - Act 17, on Feb 26, 2022 I also woke up at 3am to liveblog PGSM's Director Suzumura Live Guest Talk with Komatsu Ayaka! What a blast that was! And I can totally die happy knowing I was able to actually interact with Ayaka (PGSM Minako) through the live chat!
Using the live chat as a catalyst, I fully dove into doing some fan-translation work as well. In addition to completing a translation on the aforementioned guest talk, I also started doing more detailed translations embedded in my analysis and general liveblogging.
Then, out of nowhere in September, Sawai Miyuu started doing a live broadcast of PGSM viewing party, a hilarious and fun time where she rewatches PGSM, and we audience get to see her live reaction and interact with her! (And she actually reads and speak some English too!)
2. More Fanart
I haven't done too much fanart, my long-time followers knows drawing takes much more time for me since I don't do it enough. Still, 2022 featured some of my best pieces so far!
My personal favourite is Reinako in onesies! The Nako Nako took me forever to figure out how to draw! Additionally, I had my first time drawing something a bit smutty. I also discovered transparent art on Tumblr, and it is my new favourite thing to work on! (Though challenging to figure out.)
I can say without a doubt my latest art that celebrates the anniversary of PGSM Final Act has been the best I've done so far, and I am still incredibly proud of it! I experimented with so many things making this piece - format, composition, layering (& the transparency), coloring, etc. It was also my first time drawing Makoto, Ami, Usagi, Princess Sailor Moon, Mercury, and Jupiter in such detail!
3. More Reinako
Of course, there can never be too much Reinako! In fact, my love for Reinako colours everything I do - even when liveblogging and making fanart. :D
2022 saw me making NINE Reinako gif set in a year, an all-new high! 6 of them are from the new series(?) I started called PGSM Reinako Things I want to Yell About, which basically is just me talking about all the things PGSM does that make me love Reinako and me analyzing the shit out of the smallest hint I can see, because I have zero self-control.
4. Fanfic Writing
2022 also got me back into writing for 4 months, where I've successfully rewritten 8 chapters of my old unfinished story - Echoes of Times. I hit a slump again in April and only wrote a paragraph here or there since... :( But the fact I've written more than I've ever done is a great sign that I can indeed get back into it!
Hopes for 2023
So it’s been proved that I’m not someone that can stick to a “new year resolution” at all, so instead, I’m gonna share what I HOPE to do and see where that takes me.
I will definitely continue liveblogging. This includes keeping tabs if Director Suzumura might invite any other PGSM cast member to his guest talk, and also joining Miyuu's viewing party where possible! I'd also like to see if I can get my PGSM rewatch liveblog to progress into Darkury Arc within the year! I'd be too ambitious to say finishing the arc, since that's over 10 episodes away, but I def want to get into episodes in the 20s.
Keep writing fanfiction! And actually start publishing the rewritten chapters onto AO3! (I will upload on FF.net as well). Year after year I say this, but I would LOVE to publish a new chapter...
I've not finished any fanvideos since 2020, even though fanvideo is actually the first form of fandom content I've done. Here's hoping I can get something done and posted this year!
I definitely have a bunch of WIP fanart and gifsets waiting to be finished. My hope is to finish and share make more Reinako fanart, and dabble more on the transparent art format!
Continue on the PGSM Reinako Things I want to Yell About gif sets. I've done 6 last year, let's see if I can get another 6 done this year? (That's on average 2 per month, doable, right?)

Actually, some thoughts I had on my “psychopomp y/n” fnaf prompt
(Which I probably won’t actually make into a full story—in part because I already have so many other WIPs in addition to school and work stuff consuming my time. But if I DID do something with it…)
I feel like Y/N might allow themselves to be seen by the general populace? In a kind of “not trying to hide their presence” way? It’s just that they would be going by “form you are most comfortable with” rules, so people would just be seeing what they expect to see. (which honestly really works out in favor with the typical art style people draw y/ns on here—not giving them actual eyes or too many distinguishing facial/body features, for instance) In most cases as they wander the Pizzaplex and try to figure out what is actually going on to cause the paperwork issues, this just translates to them looking like generic stranger. They don’t stand out in any way, are probably wearing Fazbear merch of some kind, etc. And this holds true for the majority of animatronics as well.
But not Sun and Moon.
Considering they safeguard the daycare and have to be able to match specific adults with their children, their facial recognition software is a lot better, and they would be actively on the lookout for distinguishing features and weeding out the familiar from the unfamiliar. So Y/N would actually stand out quite a bit and look very out of place. After all, no one would be going to the Daycare section unless they had a specific reason to—or were extremely lost or something. But Y/N wouldn’t be wearing a typical “help me I am lost” expression, even as they don’t really know what they are supposed to be looking for at the start. So Sun and Moon would see them with a very distinctive look. I’m thinking something like formal wear, almost? Like some sort of business person attire, in dark or neutral colors.
And this would persist for a bit even after they find out about Y/N/s psychopomp status, mainly because they wouldn’t have any prior conceptions about what a psychopomp would look like? If the kids are young enough, they might not really have a concept of “death” yet, or know how grim reapers are typically depicted—and if Sun and Moon kind of casually ask them about what they know of psychopomps, they might not even have heard of the term before. And Sun and Moon certainly wouldn’t want to actually let the kids know why they are asking or that there is an actual psychopomp/grim reaper in their midst for fear of scaring them, so by the time they would actually learn about it, their perception of Y/N’s form would have already solidified.
Well. To an extent, anyways.
Because I feel like over time, as the two of them got to know Y/N, their perception of them would change into more positive views, resulting in them seeing Y/N in more casual outfits and brighter colors. Among… other changes, both physical and not, after certain “plot points” happen.
As for Y/N’s “true” form, they may or may not actually have one? I feel like their entire situation and, for lack of a better term, “species” would very much be “concept based.” Perhaps they get to pick one as they ascend the ranks, or it would be something of a Terry Pratchett’s Small Gods situation where their physical form really does depend on people believing certain things about them.
Or the situation itself could be like… the fundamentals of what they actually do and what their “job” is are unchanging, but the “way” they go about doing it is based on perception, or the amalgamation of ideas or something. So, like… psychopomps like Y/N existed before humans did, but they didn’t really get a sense of sentience or the ability to emote until humans started having collective ideas and theories about the afterlife and what it really meant to die. And the idea about what that would involve changed over time, and are still changing even now. Ideas about bureaucracies and such from media like “The Good Place” and “Good Omens,” and even “Dead Like Me” are really popular now, so that’s what they are going with. (But even if the public moves on to different ideas later, now that sentience/sapience ahs been achieved, that isn’t a guarantee that the psychopomps are going to change the way they do things to model that direction since, again, the fundamentals of their job existed long beforehand. And I’ll get more into those fundamentals in another post)
And this might actually be another point of bonding for Sun, Moon, and Y/N? In that all three of them exist for a specific purpose that they did not get to choose, and fundamentally cannot change what they are or what they do, even if they wanted to, and have very limited say in things like their appearance. Or even their names—at least Sun and Moon were given them upon creation, but I get the feeling (in part to go along even better with the fact that Y/N technically is supposed to stand in for “Your Name”) that psychopomps like Y/N don’t really have names, in general?
Y/N does, but that’s because they picked one out specifically because it helps them when they need to physically snoop for information/not look too creepy when they hang out with Sun and Moon. (Possibly Sun and Moon even unknowingly gave them the name. Like if they were throwing out different names in an attempt to identify them when they first met and Y/N just latched onto one, or if it was some situation where Y/N’s reluctance to admit they didn’t have a name got interpreted by Sun and Moon as it being some sort of situation like “my name is a concept that has no direct translation to actual words” and so they asked Y/N if they could give them a “nickname” to use when referring to them.

I've never encountered someone who thinks using reference is cheating
I see this being discussed every once in a while but it hasn't happened to me. I just want to say that using reference photos shouldn't be considered cheating. Using reference is a common thing and I highly encourage doing so and so do people who also do art. What I don't understand is the mentality of people who don't; like what do you do? Do you try to draw and paint bowls of fruit from memory? What about your friends? Even if you aren't trying to use realism, you could still stand to use reference photos/drawings to figure out poses, get ideas, and/or ,like I do when drawing real people, analyze features and figure out how to translate them into my art style. Of course, I've never had to argue about this with anyone. So I don't really know what kind of argument would be made, if there even is one.

Citizenship, Interpretation
Cracked the spine on Beyond Monogamy: Polyamory and the Future of Polyqueer Sexualities by Mimi Schippers today. It's the first new book I'm reading for reference and just the first few dense pages of the introduction have been so energizing and exciting. It's so reassuring to have someone bringing academic and theoretical work together that aligns with my unarticulated feelings and lived experiences. I've deployed my more extensive deep-reading highlighting strategy, and already the pages are lit up with color for key words, takeaways, etc. It's reminding me of how much I loved getting my BA in Women's Studies over a decade ago, and I can feel my repressed desire to go back to school rattling the bars of its cage.
Mimi talks about the way non-monogamous people are outside society, refused citizenship for not aligning themselves with our culture's norms and embracing their place in a broken, repressive system. I feel that deep in my bones. I feel (and am meant to feel) like an outsider when my home state requires I answer how many sexual partners I have when getting STI tested. I feel forced into hierarchical polyamory by wanting to access the privileges of legal marriage. What if one of my partners is better available to care for me when I'm sick, but it's not my spouse? These are all features, not flaws, with a system trying to enforce a heteronormative, monogamous, even racist social structure.
Having an academic text that legitimizes my experience and puts it in context of theory feels so powerful and reassures me I'm on the right track. It helps me figure out where my book could sit in the larger scheme and discussion of nonmonogamy: not academic, but personal, a translation of the brilliant work done by theorists and researchers, padded out with personal experience to draw the reader in (and maybe titillate them). When I talked to C.O. about my idea, she immediately reassured me that academics cannot be the only ones talking about these ideas -- they have to be massaged and brought to the masses if these ideas are going to have real impact and influence. I believe I'm the person to do this work, and it feels exhilarating. This is the book I've been working on my entire life, and it feels like a reason to have lived.

its hot and i didnt want to try to work from my computer so sketchbook for the day. i wanted to have vegito's outfit be a little more of a mix and i am thinking. questionably coherent design thoughts below
vegito always looked a little weird to me (not in a bad way, but when i had seen him as a kid my brain registered a bit of a visual mismatch that made him feel really interesting) and im trying to figure out a way to mix that with how i draw his components, along with trying to make his outfit be a little less like.. for lack of a better word segmented? like how he Just has vegeta's gloves and shoes with Just goku's gi with reversed colors. it works to show that theres a connection between them and while keeping him distinguishable, but i think there could be more and i'm messing around a bit to try it.
i in part designed him in contrast to how i draw gogeta but Thats in part bc i have some ideas about designing fusions in general. my concept is that, based on the fusion dance being a deliberate convergence with an emphasis on being in sync, while a potara fusion i feel is inherently a bit more chaotic, as two people could literally be at each other's throats and refuse to cooperate but still be able to fuse with the earrings, but the dance Requires them to trust each other and understand each other. i tried to have my gogeta design be like overall visually in-between goku and vegeta in a sense, whereas vegito's look is more like... some features may intensely be one or the other or they might not be immediately distinguishable. my idea is that gogeta's features are a little more balancee between goku and vegeta, but vegito has a more kind of unknowable mixture that may not even always make sense. i dont think any of This made sense lets talk about the clothes
im keeping the broad strokes of his outfit the same (trying to generally keep a similar silhouette and color balance), but alter the nuances. i draw goku's gi pretty baggy meanwhile vegeta apparently lives exclusively in tighter clothes, as even when hes not wearing the saiyan armor, he seems to gravitate toward something close and when he and goku fuse i'm pretty sure its the latter (im still in the android saga, i havent actually met him yet), and ive given vegito's clothes a closer fit as well as making the shirt a bit more of a tank top like vegeta's, and taking the fact that when i draw goku, his undershirt's sleeves are rolled up, for vegito i decided to not (this sentence fell apart). i wanted to combine the wristbands and the gloves and ive been thinking about giving him two-toned gloves for a while but i couldnt settle exactly on what else to do about how they'd look. i decided to roll them up (originally i actually made the gloves shorter but they started looking a little wonky) and have the palm of the glove be blue while the top of the hand would be white, and have that be reversed at the cuff of the glove. im not sure what exactly to do with the boots yet, as i'd like to make it look less like Just vegeta's shoes but he's still taking a lot clothing-wise from goku and if i were to, for example, make the boots white but with the patterns from goku, it would be kind of oversaturated by him. to balance out goku more, i've given vegito more of the shape language i would use for vegeta (theyre both pretty angular, contrast with goku and gogeta whom i have more soft and flowy) as well as proportions more like vegeta (vegito is taller, from goku, but his long legs and slimmer frame are from vegeta) but i feel like it isnt as apparent in part bc it ends up averaging out to basically how he looks in canon but a little different, as it feels like a little bit too much of the goku got kinda lost in translation. my intention was to have vegito overall just kind of be his own guy with the influences not Always being readily apparent from goku and vegeta, with him leaning more vegeta when they Are, but i might have done that a little too well. whatever send post

race & culture in fandom
For the past decade, English language fanwriting culture post the days of LiveJournal and Strikethrough has been hugely shaped by a handful of megafandoms that exploded across AO3 and tumblr – I’m talking Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Dr Who, the MCU, Harry Potter, Star Wars, BBC Sherlock – which have all been overwhelmingly white. I don’t mean in terms of the fans themselves, although whiteness also figures prominently in said fandoms: I mean that the source materials themselves feature very few POC, and the ones who are there tended to be done dirty by the creators.
Periodically, this has led POC in fandom to point out, extremely reasonably, that even where non-white characters do get central roles in various media properties, they’re often overlooked by fandom at large, such that the popular focus stays primarily on the white characters. Sometimes this happened (it was argued) because the POC characters were secondary to begin with and as such attracted less fan devotion (although this has never stopped fandoms from picking a random white gremlin from the background cast and elevating them to the status of Fave); at other times, however, there has been a clear trend of sidelining POC leads in favour of white alternatives (as per Finn, Poe and Rose Tico being edged out in Star Wars shipping by Hux, Kylo and Rey). I mention this, not to demonize individuals whose preferred ships happen to involve white characters, but to point out the collective impact these trends can have on POC in fandom spaces: it’s not bad to ship what you ship, but that doesn’t mean there’s no utility in analysing what’s popular and why through a racial lens.
All this being so, it feels increasingly salient that fanwriting culture as exists right now developed under the influence and in the shadow of these white-dominated fandoms – specifically, the taboo against criticizing or critiquing fics for any reason. Certainly, there’s a hell of a lot of value to Don’t Like, Don’t Read as a general policy, especially when it comes to the darker, kinkier side of ficwriting, and whether the context is professional or recreational, offering someone direct, unsolicited feedback on their writing style is a dick move. But on the flipside, the anti-criticism culture in fanwriting has consistently worked against fans of colour who speak out about racist tropes, fan ignorance and hurtful portrayals of living cultures. Voicing anything negative about works created for free is seen as violating a core rule of ficwriting culture – but as that culture has been foundationally shaped by white fandoms, white characters and, overwhelmingly, white ideas about what’s allowed and what isn’t, we ought to consider that all critical contexts are not created equal.
Right now, the rise of C-drama (and K-drama, and J-drama) fandoms is seeing a surge of white creators – myself included – writing fics for fandoms in which no white people exist, and where the cultural context which informs the canon is different to western norms. Which isn’t to say that no popular fandoms focused on POC have existed before now – K-pop RPF and anime fandoms, for example, have been big for a while. But with the success of The Untamed, more western fans are investing in stories whose plots, references, characterization and settings are so fundamentally rooted in real Chinese history and living Chinese culture that it’s not really possible to write around it. And yet, inevitably, too many in fandom are trying to do just that, treating respect for Chinese culture or an attempt to understand it as optional extras – because surely, fandom shouldn’t feel like work. If you’re writing something for free, on your own time, for your own pleasure, why should anyone else get to demand that you research the subject matter first?
Because it matters, is the short answer. Because race and culture are not made-up things like lightsabers and werewolves that you can alter, mock or misunderstand without the risk of hurting or marginalizing actual real people – and because, quite frankly, we already know that fandom is capable of drawing lines in the sand where it chooses. When Brony culture first reared its head (hah), the online fandom for My Little Pony – which, like the other fandoms we’re discussing here, is overwhelmingly female – was initially welcoming. It felt like progress, that so many straight men could identify with such a feminine show; a potential sign that maybe, we were finally leaving the era of mainstream hypermasculine fandom bullshit behind, at least in this one arena. And then, in pretty much the blink of an eye, things got overwhelmingly bad. Artists drawing hardcorn porn didn’t tag their works as adult, leading to those images flooding the public search results for a children’s show. Women were edged out of their own spaces. Bronies got aggressive, posting harsh, ugly criticism of artists whose gijinka interpretations of the Mane Six as humans were deemed insufficiently fuckable.
The resulting fandom conflict was deeply unpleasant, but in the end, the verdict was laid down loud and clear: if you cannot comport yourself like a decent fucking person – if your base mode of engagement within a fandom is to coopt it from the original audience and declare it newly cool only because you’re into it now; if you do not, at the very least, attempt to understand and respect the original context so as to engage appropriately (in this case, by acknowledging that the media you’re consuming was foundational to many women who were there before you and is still consumed by minors, and tagging your goddamn porn) – then the rest of fandom will treat you like a social biohazard, and rightly so.
Here’s the thing, fellow white people: when it comes to C-drama fandoms and other non-white, non-western properties? We are the Bronies.
Not, I hasten to add, in terms of toxic fuckery – though if we don’t get our collective shit together, I’m not taking that darkest timeline off the table. What I mean is that, by virtue of the whiteminding which, both consciously and unconsciously, has shaped current fan culture, particularly in terms of ficwriting conventions, we’re collectively acting as though we’re the primary audience for narratives that weren’t actually made with us in mind, being hostile dicks to Chinese and Chinese diaspora fans when they take the time to point out what we’re getting wrong. We’re bristling because we’ve conceived of ficwriting as a place wherein No Criticism Occurs without questioning how this culture, while valuable in some respects, also serves to uphold, excuse and perpetuate microaggresions and other forms of racism, lashing out or falling back on passive aggression when POC, quite understandably, talk about how they’re sick and tired of our bullshit.
An analogy: one of the most helpful and important tags on AO3 is the one for homophobia, not just because it allows readers to brace for or opt out of reading content they might find distressing, but because it lets the reader know that the writer knows what homophobia is, and is employing it deliberately. When this concept is tagged, I – like many others – often feel more able to read about it than I do when it crops up in untagged works of commercial fiction, film or TV, because I don’t have to worry that the author thinks what they’re depicting is okay. I can say definitively, “yes, the author knows this is messed up, but has elected to tell a messed up story, a fact that will be obvious to anyone who reads this,” instead of worrying that someone will see a fucked up story blind and think “oh, I guess that’s fine.” The contextual framing matters, is the point – which is why it’s so jarring and unpleasant on those rare occasions when I do stumble on a fic whose author has legitimately mistaken homophobic microaggressions for cute banter. This is why, in a ficwriting culture that otherwise aggressively dislikes criticism, the request to tag for a certain thing – while still sometimes fraught – is generally permitted: it helps everyone to have a good time and to curate their fan experience appropriately.
But when white and/or western fans fail to educate ourselves about race, culture and the history of other countries and proceed to deploy that ignorance in our writing, we’re not tagging for racism as a thing we’ve explored deliberately; we’re just being ignorant at best and hateful at worst, which means fans of colour don’t know to avoid or brace for the content of those works until they get hit in the face with microaggresions and/or outright racism. Instead, the burden is placed on them to navigate a minefield not of their creation: which fans can be trusted to write respectfully? Who, if they make an error, will listen and apologise if the error is explained? Who, if lived experience, personal translations or cultural insights are shared, can be counted on to acknowledge those contributions rather than taking sole credit? Too often, fans of colour are being made to feel like guests in their own house, while white fans act like a tone-policing HOA.
Point being: fandom and ficwriting cultures as they currently exist badly need to confront the implicit acceptance of racism and cultural bias that underlies a lot of community rules about engagement and criticism, and that needs to start with white and western fans. We don’t want to be the new Bronies, guys. We need to do better.

The confused looks around town when you didn’t speak had become something you had gotten used to, especially after your parents informed everybody that you were unable to speak. It was something you hated, you had gone sixteen years, unable to talk. Unable to know what your own voice would sound like, unable to talk to Carlos properly, unable to confess to the badboy that you were madly, deeply in love with him.
An annoyed sigh passed your lips, causing Dolores to look up from the book she was reading. She had been your best friend ever since you were both children, she knew about your feelings for Carlos, she was always routing for you both, hoping that someday you would get together. However, as the days passed on you just became more and more weary as you daydreamed out of the girls bedroom window and watched the maroon chameleon lean against the walls; looking for his next victim for a prank, or a fight… You were never quite sure which it’d be.
Dolores closed the book she was reading, approaching you and sitting on her bed with you. She crossed her legs and stared at you, watching as your features contorted into expressions that she couldn’t quite work out the meanings to.
She’d come to figure you out quite well over the fourteen years of friendship that the pair of you had, she loved being around you knowing that the pair of you could just sit in silence and get on with your own tasks whether that was reading, sewing, writing, drawing, painting, anything. She noticed that you had found other ways of expressing yourself, besides just sign language and facial expressions, you had become very expressive with your artistry.
Dolores eyed you, sign language was like a secret language to the two of you around certain people, especially most of the Madrigals. They all loved you but didn’t bother learning sign language as you usually communicated with them through a notebook you always carried or you had Dolores with you to translate your signings.
The older girl stared at you, “What’s up, amiga?” She asked you, cocking a brow as you turned to stare at her.
Another sigh escaped your lips, your brows knitting together, pointing with your lips to your hands so that she knew to watch them, usually to get her attention you would either clap or click your tongue on the roof of your mouth, if she was already looking at you, you would simply gesture to your hands with your lips. Her eyes focused on your hands as you signed to her.
I love him, Dolores! What am I supposed to do?!
Dolores let an audible sigh pass her lips as she stared at you, “Tell him!” She said. It must’ve been the hundredth time that the pair of you had had this conversation.
You sighed, moving your hands once again.
How?! He doesn’t even understand sign language!
Dolores thought for a few moments, your school was over for summer break and you were so glad about that, however, that also meant seeing even more of Carlos, given that you spend most of your time at casita with Dolores.
Something she’d also come to learn was that you hated being in your house alone whilst your parents were both at work, so you would always wonder through the town and eventually make your way to casita where you would use sign language with Félix and often ask where Dolores was. Pepa had tried to learn sign language for you but she became easily frustrated with it, causing it to downpour, and you just ended up comforting her and decided to stop teaching her. Pepa felt terrible as she loves you so much and just wanted to make life easier for you at casita but you reassured her it was okay with a smile and a long a very long hug. Luckily, Félix didn’t have the same emotional tendencies that Pepa did and quickly caught on to your teachings as you wandered through the town of Encanto looking for Dolores with the man who was like a second father to you.
Another sigh escaped your lips, bringing Dolores from her thoughts as you clicked your tongue and stood up, causing the older girl to glance at your hands again as they began moving.
I should go. I don’t want to put a downer on your day any more than I already have.
Dolores sighed, staring at you, “You’re not putting a downer on my day, amiga. You’re my best friend and I enjoy spending time with you, I’m just trying to think of a way to get you and mi hermano together without it being so complicated.” She told you. “Stay for dinner, please. Tia Julieta is cooking Sudado de Pollo tonight, I know it’s one of your favourites! Please stay.”
You thought for a second before letting a smile take over your features, your hands moving as they did.
Si, I’ll stay!
Dolores grinned as you turned back to the book you were reading prior to your conversation, Dolores also quickly went back to reading her book as her grin lingered on her face for a few moments longer.
It was soon time for dinner, Dolores perked up from her seated position and carefully closed her book, turning to you from her seat at her desk, “(Name)?” Her voice was soft so as not to frighten you, given that you had both been sat in silence for the past hour.
You lifted your head, letting that grin spread across your face again as you closed your book and rose to your feet. The pair of you left Dolores’ room and headed downstairs, joining the rest of the family at the table.
“Oh, (name), I had no idea you were joining us?” Abuela said as she saw you take a seat between Camilo and Dolores. Your fingers tapped against the wooden table nervously as you shared a look with Dolores.
“I invited her to, Abuela. Sudado de Pollo is one of her favourite dishes. That’s okay, isn’t it?” Your friend asked the elder.
Abuela’s face broke into a soft smile, she really had become a lot more laid back since the fall of casita, “Si, si, that’s absolutely okay, cariño.” The elder told her granddaughter before sending you a warm smile as Mirabel helped her mother bring the dishes in from the kitchen. That was when you caught sight of him, the red ruana wearing chameleon that you had been in love with for the past seven years. His scowl softened as he planted a soft kiss to his mother cheek in passing before taking a seat on the other side of Dolores.
“Wait, something not right. I’m further down the table than usual. Camilo, have you been gaining weight again with all those arepas you’ve been eating?!” Carlos said, a tone to his voice but you couldn’t tell if it was teasing or mocking his golden counterpart.
You noticed Camilo rolling his eyes on the other side of you, “You’ll have to excuse mi hermano, (name). He can be a real tonto at times.” Camilo said, emphasising your name slightly causing Carlos to splutter, quickly shifting into different family members and you before shifting back into himself.
The whole family knew of his crush on you and he was often teased for it, it’d been found out about when he was trying to learn sign language in secret but was caught by Camilo and stopped learning altogether because of the teasing he received from his brother, then his prima’s decided to join that teasing and eventually the truth led back to his mamá who wouldn’t stop bugging him about his little crush. However, since then, that little crush had turned into full blown love. It was no longer just a schoolboy crush, no, no, he was head over heel in love with you. He had wanted to confess to you so many times but didn’t know how to, he wouldn’t understand your reply even if you did reply as you would use sign language and he had given up on learning that years ago when the teasing began.
Carlos was quick to regain his composure as he glared at his brother before noticing you, a small grin was on your face as you gave the troublemaker a small wave. He sent you a nod before turning back to his plate, his cheeks flushing a deep shade of red as he did.
It was about half way through dinner when Dolores clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth, instantly gaining your attention, your eyes drifted to her hand on top of the table as she began signing to you so that the others wouldn’t catch on to what she was saying to you.
I’ve figured out a way for you to confess to Carlos!
Your eyes widened as you began moving your hands to sign back.
What?! What do you mean?! How?!
Her eyes drifted momentarily, noticing that the chatter around the table had now stopped and the whole family were now watching the pair of you have your secret conversation. Félix was staring contently, a knowing smile crossing his features as he stared between you and his daughter. Dolores noticed your eyes also flickering around to every individual at the table, you almost shrank in your seat until Dolores clicked her tongue again, getting your attention back on her hands.
She began moving them frantically, making sure not to mess up any of the signs.
Ignore them! Anyway, I can translate for you, when you confess. I can set it all up and translate the whole confession, would that help?
A soft smile found its way onto your features, you grabbed Dolores’ hands and began waving them around excitedly, given that you couldn’t really squeal due to your vocal chords not working. You nodded your head, gesturing to your hands as you calmed down, Dolores focused her gaze on your hands once again, a soft smile gracing her features as they began moving.
Yes! Yes! Yes! That would be perfect, you’re a life saver! Thank you! I love you, oh my gosh!
Dolores laughed at your excitement, nodding her head, moving her hands in order to sign to you one final time.
Great! Come by tomorrow and we’ll put the plan into action and you can work out what you’re going to say to him.
She gestured her head back in Carlos’ direction, as her back currently faced him, in order to emphasise who she was talking about.
Your shoulder shook with a silent chuckle as you nodded at your friend before the pair of you focused back on your meal. “Was that a secret conversation or am I just stupid?” Camilo asked from beside you, confusion evident on his face.
You sent a soft smile the boys way before signing something to him, causing Dolores and Félix to laugh at what you’d said. “What? What did she say?” Camilo asked, confusion emanating his features.
“Well, uh… In the nicest way possible she said, uh….” Félix began. “Um, Dolores, would you take this one, hija?” He asked his daughter quickly.
Dolores’ laughter only became more prominent as she lifted her hands to cover her mouth, “No, papá, I think you’ve got this handled.” Dolores managed to squeak out through her giggles.
A smirk found it’s way onto your face as you heard the commotion around you, seeing Félix stutter along his words, not wanting to quite insult his son by letting him know what you’d just said. He looked to Dolores for help once again and she finally told him what you had said, causing her father to let out a sigh of relief.
“Hermano, she said ‘Are you always such an idiot or do you just show off when I’m around?’” She laughed, as Camilo stared at you, a dramatised offended look on his face.
“Wow, (name), I am hurt. How you could say such a horrible and sarcastic thing about me hurts me deeply.” The sixteen year old beside you said, putting on a fake hurt voice.
You shook with laughter once again before pushing the boys face away and continuing to eat your dinner.
Dinner was soon over, with Julieta telling you that you didn’t need to help in the kitchen after Dolores let her know that you had offered to clean up.
Instead, you sent the older woman a warm smile and decided it was time to head back home to your parents, you waved goodbye to the family before signing goodbye to Dolores and leaving casita, beginning your brisk walk home, you were glad that it was later nights now, meaning that it was still quite light out as you trudged home.
You arrived home and headed straight to your bedroom, letting out a contented sigh as you laid in your bed and closed your eyes. Tomorrow couldn’t come quick enough.
The next day came. You were currently standing at the fountain, going over your speech in your head as Dolores stood beside you. She gave your hand a gentle squeeze before pointing with her lips into the distance, there he was, the red ruana wearing boy in all his glory, making his way towards the fountain. You sucked in a deep breath before letting it back out just as quickly, “¿Qué pasa, Dolores?” The teenager asked, staring at his sister before his eyes landed on you. He took in your nervous composure before sending you a soft smile, “Hola (name)!” He said, waving slightly upon capturing your attention. You smiled softly at the boy and waved.
“(Name) here has something she would like to tell you.” Dolores told her brother.
He frowned, staring at his sister, “I don’t understa-” He began but was cut off by his sister.
“She’s going to sign to you and I’m going to translate everything, okay?” Dolores told her brother who simply nodded his head.
He turned his attention to you, as did Dolores as your hands nervously got to work. You confessed everything and Dolores translated every word.
“Carlos, this may come as a shock to you and I’m not quite sure what you’ll even do with this information but I think it’s time I finally tell you. For the last seven years, I have been truly, madly, deeply head over heels in love with you. You’re my every waking thought and my every nighttime dream. You’re the first thing on my mind in the morning and the final thing on my mind before I fall asleep. You’ve always tried your best to understand me, despite not knowing what I was trying to say. You’ve gotten to know me these past fourteen years and I will never be able to thank you enough for that. You’re one of my favourite people in this whole world and…” Dolores paused as your hands did, you sighed and stared down at the floor. Your hands began moving again as Dolores continued translating, “And I don’t know. You’re just… You’re just such a beautiful, sweet, gorgeous, kindhearted troublemaker and I just love you so much. It started out as a schoolgirl crush but over the years I realised that I have fallen so deep in love with you and now I can’t even claw my way out…” She paused again. Eyeing you, clicking her tongue and moving her hands as your eyes focused on her hands immediately.
Are you okay, amiga?
You nodded, sending her a soft smile. You continued moving your hands, causing Dolores to go back to translating for Carlos, “I know this might ruin our friendship but these feelings were eating away at me and I just had to let them out, Carlos. I love you, I love you… I just freaking love you.” Both you and Dolores turned to a speechless and red faced Carlos.
You began backing up slightly, afraid that you had just ruined everything but Carlos lunged forward, wrapping his arms around you and burying his face into the crook of your neck. “Thank you.” He whispered. “Beautiful? Kindhearted? Sweet? Gorgeous? Those aren’t words people use to describe me so thank you, (name).” He mumbled into the crook of your neck.
“Also…” He began. Stepping back slightly before leaning down and capturing your lips in a loving kiss, you immediately kissed back, bringing your hands up to his hair as he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you as close to him as possible.
His lips were chapped and rough but you didn’t mind that, in fact, you sort of liked it.
The pair of you pulled away, fighting for air and breathing heavily as he stared down at you, resting his forehead against yours, “I’m in love with you too, idiota.” He whispered, capturing your lips in another lingering kiss before pulling away.
Dolores smiled to herself, staring at the pair of you, “I’m going to leave you two lovebirds to it.” She sent you a wink before walking away as you signed a goodbye to her.
Carlos stared down at you, “You know, you’re gonna have to teach me sign language. I tried learning it years ago for you so I know a few phrases but not enough to have a full conversation like you and Dolores.” You grinned at him, nodding your head slightly before reaching into the pocket of your dress and grabbing your notebook and pencil before scribbling a few words down on the first empty page.
What phrases do you know?
Carlos smirked, retracting his arms from around your waist, “The one most prominent in my mind is this one.” He smiled at you before moving his hands.
Your cheeks turned red at what he’d said, your grin making itself present on your flushed features once again.
You lifted your hands, signing to him with a soft smile.
Yo tambien te amo, idiota.
Carlos pulled you into his arms, letting you place your face into the crook of his neck as he wrapped his arms around your smaller frame, burying his face in your hair, almost muffling his next words.
“I’m so lucky to finally have you, mi vida.”

Slow Down — Hawks x Reader (Smut)
Tumblr media
Summary: Hawks was known as “the man who’s too fast for his own good”. Unfortunately, he lived up to that title in nearly every aspect of his life. Even during sex. So when he asked for your help, you just couldn’t say no.
Warnings: NSFW. Needy!Hawks (hints of sub!Hawks AND dom!Hawks). Premature ejaculation. Edging. Orgasm denial. Masturbation. Overstimulation. Vaginal fingering. Blowjob. Breathplay. Cumplay.
Word count: 2.6k
“You need to relax, Hawks.”
The muscles on his toned thighs quivered lightly before loosening up under your palms. Beads of sweat pooled along his brow line and heaving bare chest. His golden eyes would settle anywhere but on you.
You two had been at this for only five minutes, but doubt started brewing inside you as to whether or not he’d last much longer than this.
As the young hero visibly calmed down, you decided it was time to resume resume what you had been asked to do: help pro hero number two Hawks from busting his load too quickly.
Your fingers curled around his cock once more, gaining a hiss from him as his hips lifted from the couch.
He was extremely responsive to your every touch, and while that might do wonders to anyone’s ego, it would all be over too soon if caution wasn’t exercised.
See, Hawks would often joke around with “the man who’s too fast for his own good” title that had been given to him. But the joke would fall flat now that he had realized his performance in bed was hindered.
A few more slow tentative pumps along his cock and you saw him balling his fists.
“Hawks... you need to look at me while I do this.”
An exasperated groan. “I can’t.”
“You have to,” you insisted, rubbing your thumb across his leaking tip. “Otherwise, you won’t make much progress.”
“I’ll fucking cum if I look...” he rasped through gritted teeth.
His scarlet wings twitched momentarily as you leaned in to place a butterfly kiss on the tip, gathering a few drops of precum on your lips as you did so.
“I wanna...” Hawks’ deep voice suddenly emerged. “I wanna fuck your mouth.”
You licked your lips and tasted him for the first time in a while. In all honesty, you yourself weren’t sure of what you’d call whatever this was. Friends with benefits was an overkill, but calling him just your friend didn’t fit either.
So you remained stuck in this limbo.
“Look at me first,” you told him, tightening your grip around him. “Keigo!”
The young man’s eyes finally locked with yours at the mention of his real name, and you seized the moment to drag your tongue along the underside of his cock.
“Fuck... you’re the best at this... your tongue...” he started off well, but his eyes quickly fluttered shut as one hand reached out to grip your chin tightly.
You yanked away from his, chuckling at his failed attempt at asserting dominance. “Flattery will get you nowhere, bird boy. You were the one who asked for my help, so do as I say.”
You had gone as far as to look up a few methods to extend his endurance, and this was the one you ended up choosing for convenience purposes. Hawks could just easily drop by your place for a quick session.
And even though the extent of your sexual experience with Hawks was limited to a few making out sessions, some blowjobs, and him eating you out from time to time, you knew from the get go that this cock wouldn’t last long inside a pussy.
But it was never your issue; at least he never made it to be, until he asked for your help, since it proved to be quite damaging to his male ego.
He was growing impatient by the minute, but you didn’t waver, even tough the growing damp spot in your panties served as a reminder of how badly you wanted to heed is request and just suck him off right then and there.
“You’re a meanie,” he pouted as he glared at the hand pumping him. “Fuck...”
Your lips curled into a devious smile. “You’re doing great, pretty bird.”
Praising Hawks was definitely the way to his heart — and apparently to his dick as it twitched under your palm.
Seeing that he was enduring your touch without breaking eye contact, you brought your lips to close around the head of his cock; his hips immediately jolted upwards, catching you off guard as he let out a sigh of pure bliss once he was halfway buried inside your mouth.
You promptly raked your teeth across the sensitive skin, which had him sliding out at lightning speed.
“Are you serious?” You scolded his boldness.
A boyish smile curled his lips. “100%.”
You smacked his thigh. Hawks and his damn percentages.
“No teeth!” he then protested, his beautiful features twisted into a deep frown.
“Then behave.”
He merely nodded, eyeing you eagerly as you wrapped your lips around him once again. The hand you had on his thigh felt him tense up, but he was definitely getting better at controlling his instinctive reflexes. You decided to take it up a notch and stare directly into his eyes as your lips parted to take more of him. Just as you’d expected, he bucked his hips into you, but this time you let him set the pace.
“Deeper... you can take more than that,” he said in between moans, pressing his thumb on your chin to have you open your mouth wider to take his thick cock.
You decided to indulge him for a while, testing his limit. Slowly, you allowed him to guide you all the way down on him with thumb now caressing your skin as his other hand clasped around your nape to keep you in place.
Thankfully, your breathing was trained enough to have him balls deep and grazing your throat without taking a toll on you. Your nose grazed the base of his cock briefly, and you swallowed.
Hard.
“Fuck-fuck-fuuuck!” he growled, wrapping his fingers around your neck to feel the faint bulge; his hips rising from the couch to make sure he remained buried deep inside you.
That was your cue. You instantly had both hands on his thighs and pulled away, earning a disappointed cry from him.
“Fuck no! I was not even close!” Hhe whined childishly, his back slumping into the couch in defeat.
You arched an eyebrow, noticing a string of saliva dangling between your owner lip and his tip. “Yes, you were. Stop trying to dom me and just let me help.”
It was in his nature, you figured. He had been raised by the commission to be one step ahead and not let anyone take advantage of him, so you weren’t at all surprised that this translated to his intimate side as well. But for someone who was so used to being told what to do and taking orders, Hawks sucked at doing so even when it was in his best interest.
He huffed in annoyance, but remained silent.
You glared at his cock momentarily, not being able to keep your pussy from clenching. This man was annoyingly pretty. Even his long and hard cock was pretty, having a slight curve to it and a nice and round bulbous head. Your eyes then shifted to his full balls, and you brought your fingers to fondle each one carefully, drawing delicious moans from him.
“You gonna keep staring or are you gonna suck it?”
You offered a teasing smile. “You shouldn’t make demands when I have you in my hand. Literally.”
Hawks’ eyes widened slightly. “Just let me cum.”
“You sure?”
He nodded before motioning you to shift closer with his index finger. “C’mere...”
Your panties were fully soaked by now, and as much as you wanted to resist him, it was getting harder to pull away from having him coming undone because of you.
Slowly, your tongue darted out to give his tip a short lick, but this time you let his cock slide all the way in without letting go of his balls.
He stuttered incoherently. “S-Slow... go—go... slow...”
You twirled your tongue across the protruding veins, letting his shaft reach your throat easily, strings of precum mixed with your saliva began pooling around the corners on your mouth and soon started dripping down your chin. Not wanting to go overboard, you stilled, not even daring to swallow.
His hands were gripping the edge of the couch so tightly that his knuckled were turning white; it was rather obvious that he was fighting off his impending orgasm with determination.
But as soon as you started swallowing around him, allowing your throat to ripple along his cock, Hawks’ mouth fell open in a profound growl.
“I’m... I’m gonna...” his wings were stretched all the way up to the ceiling, his long red feathers vibrating rhythmically with each roll from his hips.
Yes, he was going to.
His hips jerked in a broken rhythm as he attempted to fuck your mouth, nearing his orgasm rapidly. Once he started panting heavily and his moans became ragged, you slid off his cock.
“FUCK!” Hawks yelled in sheer frustration as his hips were left bucking against nothing but cool air.
You sat back, admiring how annoyed you’d left him yet again. It was always fun to tease him like that. He wasn’t used to not having things go his way, so you made it your mission to humble him down every once in a while.
The young hero groaned through gritted teeth, burying his face in his hands. “This is evil!”
“Deep breaths,” you chose to ignore his remark, placing your hands on his quivering thighs. “Calm down, Keigo...”
His entire body was shaking from the pent up tension. He might be a pro hero, but he was still human after all; even though he wasn’t used to being edged and overstimulated, you had to admit he was doing quite well.
Except for the strangled sobs that erupted from his throat and the few tears that slid down his flushed cheeks.
“Just... let.... me... no more....” he pleaded sheepishly, wrapping his own hand around his cock and pumping it a few times in desperation.
“Keigo... deep breaths,” you said, unhooking his fingers away from him.
He shook his head, eyes closed shut. “No... let me cum... please...”
“Hands off your cock,” you told him, placing them on the edge of the couch. “Don’t touch it. You need to cool off.”
This side of him proved to be unexpectedly alluring and empowering. Having a pro hero squirming and begging and completely desperate for release was something that you didn’t know you needed to witness.
A few long minutes rolled by.
Hawks’ breathing became more even and his beautiful face was no longer contorting from the pain of having his orgasm denied for the first time ever.
Your hands caressed his relaxed thighs with every ounce of affection you could muster. “See? You did so good, baby...”
Hawks brushed sweat-damp locks of golden hair away from his forehead, his eyes fixed on yours. “This hurts... real bad...”
His hard and veiny cock was slapped flat against his lower abdomen, precum still dripping from the tip.
“I think it’s time for you to cum,” you suggested with an understanding smile.
“You think?” Hawks chuckled sarcastically, his voice filled with annoyance.
Not wanting to summon a very angry Hawks, you massaged his sack for a few seconds, enjoying how his cock twitched with each stroke.
“Go on. Fuck my mouth.”
As soon as those words left your mouth, he lunged forward to grip his cock and have his hand grasp the back of your head.
His predatory instinct finally took over. “Open.”
You promptly complied, and he wasted no time shoving his cock inside you.
“Wider,” he grunted, forcing your chin down with his thumb. This sudden shift in his demeanor caused you to struggle to taking in all of it while trying to control your breathing through your nose.
Big mistake.
Hawks quickly caught on to what you were attempting to do, and he pinched your nose with his index finger and thumb.
“Told you,” he growled in satisfaction, watching you swallow his entire cock. “Deeper.”
Your eyes were stinging with tears from and you felt your swollen clit throb as he kept himself lodged in your throat. His other hand wrapped around your throat once again.
“Swallow.”
Your vision began to blur, but you told yourself to relax even though you struggled to breathe.
You swallowed once before he finally let go of your nose, fully enjoying how you were gasping around him and feeling his cock swelling up your neck through his fingers. You had tried breath play with him once, but this time it felt rougher an aroused you far more. He wasn’t usually this hungry, but then again you had never taunted him this much.
His hips rose at a fast pace as he fucked your mouth mercilessly, grunting and praising you. You weren’t able to keep the drool from spilling out and down your chin with each thrust.
“Touch yourself.”
You looked up in surprise, but readily slid one hand downwards and shoved it inside your panties, so you could finally relieve some of the tension that had built up in your swollen clit.
A low moan rippled through you throat as you rubbed yourself.
“Do that again... do...” he panted, completely lost in pleasure as his wings quivered around him steadily.
Sliding one finger inside your drenched pussy, you started fingering yourself, eyes fluttering shut from the overwhelming sensation.
“I’m gonna... fuck....”
Your other hand was gripping his thigh to keep yourself stable, and as he quickened the pace, you found out that he was defying your gag reflex.
“You gonna swallow all of it...” he grunted with a final jerk of his hips, burying himself so deep inside you that your nose was fully pressed against the base of his cock.
Tears streamed down your face as hot sprays of cum started spurting down your throat, and you struggled to keep it all down, the excess mixing up with your saliva and dripping from your mouth.
Hawks let out an animalistic growl as he emptied himself inside you, and you found yourself facing yourself with two fingers, riding after your on high as he massaged your throat.
“So pretty...” he panted, pulling his cock out and pressing your head to rest on his thigh. “Wanna cum, too?”
You nodded tiredly, feeling your spit running down the side of his thigh, but you just couldn’t help from keeping your mouth open as you gasped in pleasure.
“C’mere.” He ended up saying, helping you to get on your feet and to sit on his lap. “I’ll do that.”
He brushed his thumb across your chin to wipe off the mixture of cum and spit and brought it to his lips to taste it.
“Good?” You smiled in surprise.
He flashed you his trademark wide grin. “Amazing. Now, let me help.”
You welcomed his invitation, and lowered your head to rest on his shoulder, his hot body fully pressed against yours.
Two long fingers slipped inside your pussy and he started fingering you rapidly, making sure his palm rubbed your swollen clit. It didn’t take you long to get washed over in your own orgasm. It probably had something to do with how good he was with his fingers, but also because you had managed to edge yourself from edging him. How ironic.
Hawks planted a kiss on your forehead, enveloping both of you with his large wings. “That was quick. Maybe you need some help too, eh?”
A low chuckled rumbled in your chest. “Don’t flatter yourself, Keigo. It was like 70% built up tension from edging you.”
“Just 30% from my fingers?” He feigned hurt.
You paused for a few seconds. “Maybe 20%?”
“And the other 10%?”
“From my fingers,” you shot sticking out your tongue to him teasingly.
He clicked his tongue. “So my fingers are better than yours. Noted.”
“That was not what I meant!” You laughed, not at all surprised by his deduction.
“Math never lies,” he winked adoringly.
Yes. You were definitely going to stick around to help him with this.
