Second chapter / Third chapter/ Fourth Chapter
December was arriving and for the majority of the students that meant they would be far away from the new director and teacher, the pink cow. Everyone was dreadfully expecting Christmas to get away from her, especially those who weren’t from Slytherin, and most of them who were from the red house.
However, the excitement of being away from this nightmare wasn’t even comparable to the comeback of Voldemort. Hogwarts was a safe place, so even with Umbridge, most of the students felt secure.
You wouldn’t leave the castle anyways since your parents didn’t want you at your house. You’re the Sinclairs, not a part of the sacred 28, but still an ally of Voldemort, or so you were. Your parents realized too late that they didn’t want to be a part of such dark times as the ones that were lived when Voldemort slaughtered thousands of people.
So when he died they kind of celebrated in the privacy of their house along with you, their little baby. Unfortunately, he came back. It wasn’t a surprise for your parents, it was just a shock. What if Voldemort knew of their betrayal? Of what do they really think about him? Would he go after you?
But for now their only worry is if he appears at their house. He probably doesn’t even know you exist since your parents hid you for almost a year until he died. So that’s why they preferred for you to not go home that Christmas.
You understood, but you just wished you could see your parents again. Meanwhile, you never felt so bad at Hogwarts. It was expected from you to be alongside Umbridge since you’re a Slytherin, and thus you are one of the many privileged ones. You never, ever saw her taking one of your fellow housemates to detention. But you can’t stand the punishment she gives to the other students. You never said anything to anyone about that, but sometimes you feel guilty when you hear little students crying with something in their hands or when she invites someone to go to her office in the middle of class.
You’re privileged because Umbridge would never lay a hand on you, but when it comes to your social life, you never were so miserable. Since the spread of the rumor of Voldemort’s comeback, the judgment and hatred stares increased. Nobody outside of Slytherin spoke with you since the beginning of the year, and that’s unusual. They don’t even want to pair up with you anymore in class, even if you are one of the brightest students of your year.
The urge to finish your school years and never see anyone from this school forever increased day by day, and that’s led you to not even go eating to the Great Hall many times. You would go to the kitchen and ask for something from the house elves, and then you would find somewhere quiet and hidden and eat there.
Sometimes you ate in the kitchen, but you were too afraid of the possibility of someone showing up and seeing you there. But that night, your 6-hour study session left no room for fear, only hunger. So when you reached the kitchen you didn’t felt the need to eat somewhere else. Instead, you sat on a bench and started eating the tomato soup.
Unfortunately, as your thoughts about how delicious the soup tasted traveled in your mind, the kitchen door swung open and revealed one of the infamous Weasley twins. You looked startled to the door, spoon in hand almost ready to feed you again, seeing the ginger looking at you, confused. It was odd not to see him with his brother.
“Sinclair,” he greeted after clearing his throat, still beside the open door, this time with a small grin on his face. “Great soup you’ve got there.”
Should you answer him or ignore his words? “Indeed,” you said, still tasting the soup in your mouth. “What do you want, Weasley?” This time your words were cooler and your semblance more serious, so as not to leave any doubt that you wished for him to go away or else you would.
“A good turkey sandwich, Sinclair. That´s what my belly is asking me for!" He chuckled, completely ignoring your cold demeanor and simply entering the kitchen, searching for the elves with his eyes.
"They´re not here," you warn him before sipping the soup from your spoon. The twin hummed, going behind the balcony and finding bread.
He searches for something more, and when you look at him you see him emerging from behind the balcony with ham. "Nice," he whispers, putting ham on two pieces of bread and joining them.
"Why are you here this late? Umbridge would love to catch you." He looks at you again, surprised by your chat.
"Well, I just left her office, so I don´t think she´ll be here right now," he says while munching a piece of his ham sandwich. Your eyes widen with surprise, instantly looking at his hands and seeing that the rumors that were spreading in the Slytherin house were true.
There was something written in his hand, but not written, more like carved. The ginger sees where your eyes are on, and so he lowers his hands and chuckles. "She got mad because I looked back in class."
"Doesn´t that hurt?" What a stupid question, you think. It obviously seems like it, but he doesn´t retorts, he just smiles softly at you, which makes you think. Since his arrival, he never gave you one bad glance. On the very contrary, he even chuckled and smiled at you.
"It stings a bit, but the pain was much stronger when I was writing it," he informs you, and you feel your stomach whirl. Did he write it? What a sick fucking bitch.
You look at your bowl of soup, practically full. You ate a plate of chips and fish sooner, and he probably hadn´t eaten anything. You thought for a while. Being generous for a Gryffindor was something you had to be careful about these times. But after what you found out and what you saw, you were sure your stomach wouldn´t want anything else, so you push the bowl to his side of the counter.
"You can eat it. I´m already full," you said in a generous but uninterested tone at the same time.
“I don’t think I can acce-“
“Goodbye, Weasley.” Before he could continue protesting you rise from the tiny bench and make your way to the door to leave.
“Goodbye, Sinclair.” You hear him shout from afar since you already left the kitchen behind. Why the hell was he being nice to you like that? It felt strange having someone smiling at you like that.
However you continued your way to the dorms, satisfied with your meal. When you reached the dungeons you said the password to the painting and entered the common room, seeing as being past the curfew already almost all of the Slytherins were in there. Some were chatting, others playing chess and others snogging in public.
You went direct to your room, seeing that you were the only one in there. So, you put on your pajamas, brushed your teeth, and quickly laid down on your bed, switching the lights off.

You woke up after hearing Pansy talking with Daphne, the two were trying to find something to wear since they were going to Hogsmeade. You intended not to go, but you wanted to buy something for your parents to send them on Christmas, so you reluctantly rose from your bed, squinting your eyes at the sun.
“Morning sleepy head,” Daphne said with a cheerful tone and a wide smile. You nodded at her, murmuring something back, but even you didn’t understand what left your mouth, so she just giggled.
“Are you going to Hogsmeade, Sinclair?” Pansy asked from the bathroom, and you hummed in affirmation. “What?”
“I am!” You said louder for her to hear. But you hoped she wouldn’t invite you to go with them since you preferred to go alone. “But not right now. Probably in an hour or two,” you informed them, still sitting in bed watching Daphne look through her closet to find a jacket and Pansy leaving the bathroom, already ready to go.
“C’mon, Greengrass,” Pansy hissed rolling her eyes at her friend that sighed. “Just take your cloak and your scarf!”
Suddenly you hear the curtains of the other bed open, watching as Tracey sleepily rose from her sleep position to shush us. “I’m still sleeping, so please, don’t scream!” She said loudly before closing the curtains abruptly and going to sleep again.
You giggled when Pansy sighed in frustration before going to the door and opening it. “I’m on my way, Greengrass!” She shouted despite Tracey’s words and closed the door before Daphne ran to the closed door with her cloak and her green scarf in her arms, leaving her closet open.
“Wait!” She screamed while opening the door and closing it again in an instant.
You sighed, finally standing up and going to the bathroom. After a while you got ready, wearing black trousers, a green blouse, and one of your black and furred cloaks with green ankle boots.
Leaving Tracey alone and sleeping, you left an hour later since the other two left. You left the dorms and the Slytherin’s common room, walking outside of the castle and going to Hogsmead. It was cold, very cold. The snow painted everything, but the path you and the students were taking was cleaner.
You tighten your scarf while you walked alone, sometimes amongst a slower group of friends that talked and chuckled with each other. When you arrived at Hogsmeade you started to run all the shops, trying to find something to gift to your parents.
Nothing seemed to appeal to you, but it was only the end of October, so you understood why nothing seemed to be a gift to offer someone on Christmas. So, after half an hour of trying to search for something for them, you stopped and walked into Honeyducks, already smelling the sweet smell of all the candies. However, you were confronted with two gingers in front of you when you opened the door this time, both on your way and you on theirs. Just then you realized how enormous the twins were. They towered over you like fucking Big Ben.
“I…I’m sorry,” you whispered, walking backward to let them pass.
“Sinclair! Thank you, for yesterday. The soup really warmed my insides, man,” one of them said with a chuckle. You didn’t even know if he was Fred or George.
“Yeah, sure.”
“Aren’t you the one that almost killed Finnigan in your second year?” You looked at the other twin, surprised and embarrassed by his question.
Long story short, Seamus tried to do something alone to your potion while you went to the bathroom in the middle of class. When you returned you went to check it and suddenly it exploded on both of your faces. Even Snape found it hard to stop you from jumping to Seamus. You never looked on his way again, nor you partnered with him again.
“That’s just exaggerating. I never touched him,” you said annoyed, not liking how people depicted your actions. You would never kill someone over that, it’s just that you wanted Snape’s approval and a good grade.
“Don’t listen to George, he almost killed me several times.” Oh, so the twin you saw last night was Fred. “But you shouldn’t take Seamus's situation that seriously, he likes to blow up things, or so it seems.”
"I´m aware of that," you said, shivering softly under your cloak. It was so damn cold outside, and the snow falling didn´t help at all. "Well, goodbye."
You turned on your heels and started to go to the door of Honeyducks, ready to open it. But before you could move the handle Fred called out for you. "See you around, Sinclair!" You turned around and looked at the twins standing there. You quickly waved at them and entered the store, closing the door behind you and letting yourself be immersed in the hot air and the sweet smells.
You walked around the store, picking up some gummy worms and two sugar quills. You went to the balcony and paid for your items, leaving Honeyducks and walking back to Hogwarts, wishing the snow would stop falling.
Quick note: Hi! I wrote this on AO3 but I also wanted to post this here! I already have the next chapter ready but I’ll wait a few days to finish others. I pretend for this to have, at least, 10 chapters hehe. Well, I hope you enjoyed it!
