Creator Spotlight: Artist Toby.exe and Author Annabeth Lynch
New Monday, new week, and the crowdfunding campaign for Aim For The Heart: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Alexandre Dumas’s “The Three Musketeers” is almost 7/8ths funded!!! (I know I keep talking in these updates about how close we are and the changes aren’t THAT big from day to day, I’m just very excited about our progress. 😀
Today’s another two-creator day – we’re meeting Toby.exe and Annabeth Lynch! This is Toby.exe’s first time working with us. Annabeth’s been in past anthologies and has published two short stories on our webpage, and she’s a member of our Press staff, sharing her know-how and experience during our meetings and when we’re chatting our way through management decisions. She also runs the Press TikTok account!

About the Artist: Freelance Animator and Illustrator based in the UK. He/They LGBTQ+ friendly little goblin who plays excessive amounts of DnD and loves to play Live Action Roleplay events all over the country! If I am not at home drawing, I am out and about playing a variety of fantasy characters in the woods and hitting people with silly foam swords.

(Mortie and Toby How did they find out Santa isn’t real?)
Toby probably found out when he realized that the "Santa" he'd seen either looked a lot like Famine or a lot like Willow, and how every other year, the appearance seemed to change. Willow was never good at keeping secrets, so his shifty eyes were probably a dead giveaway when Toby started asking about the Santa he'd seen
Then with Mortem, it was probably similar, but he noticed that the handwriting on the gift tags seemed to resembled both Glo and Connie's handwriting, since they both work together to play Santa sometimes. Morty is his mama's little man, so he probably recognized her handwriting first. Pairing that with how smart he actually is, it didn't take long for him to connect the dots

Mental image I just had, thanks to the song I just made a post about:
Famine's alive and underground, still hunting humans to survive, and struggling to feed his brothers
Everything is fine, right up until he kills Toby and Lila are two of the "ghosts" that are mentioned in the song
Willow helps him cope with the grief and guilt after what happened with Toby, and from there, things calm down. Then a human falls and starts a genocide run
He gets dragged away and locked up, so he can't protect Willow. When he finally frees himself and he finds Willow's dust, Willow is the third ghost from the song
Famine was already mentally unstable anyway from his living conditions and lifestyle, and all the killing he had to do. Killing Toby pushed him closer to having a breakdown, but Willow dying was the final push he needed to completely lose it
He's delusional, believing he can see the ghosts of his mother and brothers, and they constantly haunt him, driving him further into madness. He has to confront the human while this is going on, and it's the distraction from them that causes him to falter. That split second was all the human needed to land a fatal blow, and in his last moments, he's able to break their reset button
He's still very mentally and emotionally unstable, and still very haunted by these ghosts. Even after Death brought him back to promote him to being a rider, Famine was still delusional, and he probably lashed out at him, as if he thought he was still fighting the human in judgement hall
Pestilence was the one who had to bring him back to reality, and even after he'd settled down, he was probably still delusional for a while. Even years later, he probably still gets really freaked out by the idea of going crazy again, and that's why he denies seeing Lila and Toby. To him, they're representations of his guilt and failure to be a good son and brother. He denies them because he thinks if he acknowledges them, he'll just end up losing his mind again

I’m a Derse Dreamer and Page of light - The symbol is one of those caution signs with the exclamation point ! :] I will draw those sorts of outfits / vers. at some point I’m just tired cause it’s almost 3am and I’ve hardly past few days lol
I’m using Aerosolkind - specifically graffiti spray stuff or after enough stuff, Probably any sort of aerosol I can get my grimy little hands on. But using it I’ll take the proper precautions dw dw. It was also kinda chosen cause I wanted it to fit my godtier >:]]] AKA I imagine trying to use it at first and being like “ oh shit-” cause it does effect enemies but like.... it doesn’t do any good good damage until y’know... I find a lighter 👀 👀 [/j]
but in all seriousness tho - Don’t actually do that :[ It’s probably bad for you’re health and mega fucking unsafe. So don’t and i don’t support anyone doing that. Or just harming people in general [/srs].
As far as stuff goes is a mask for safety reasons AND two teddys I have, One of them is a bear in a blue flannel and the other is a rabbit, Sadly though he’s damaged cause of a house fire a while back, good couple years lmao. But I still love him ( I just can’t hug him in my sleep like I used to because his face is all melted :[[ I love him regardless tho ). To be fair, I’d probably end up using them for my sprite maybe. Definitely one of them though so I’ll also be drawing that.

OK ok! So hear me out~ I saw a video on Tik tok where this women sent her husband a "dirty pic" (if ya know what I mean ;)- and when he saw it he like screamed happily from the next room... So this got me thinking how do you think the creeps would act (who ever you choose) to you sending them a "dirty pic" for the first time in your relationship ship with them? 😂 Also I love your content you make me laugh every time! ❤❤

Toby moaned as Masky inserted a single finger. "M-Mas-Masky!" He whined then gasped as the other man curved his finger. "Does that feel good, Toby?" "Go-God, yes!" A tic went through his body and he moaned, jerking his hips as the movement caused Masky's fingers to graze his prostrate. "Looks like I found it..." Masky smirked, and roughly tapped it, drawing a squeal from Toby. "M-Mask!"

Hello! I'm interested in pitching for the upcoming anthology, and I wanted to know if it was required for authors to release under something that at least looks like a legal name/pseudonym? I'm comfortable giving my legal name for contract purposes, but I'd really rather continue being known publicly as my 'fannish' pseudonym, under which I've also written some original works (which are not on AO3). Is that a dealbreaker?

It is NOT a deal breaker!
Once upon a time, we did require that pseudonyms look like "actual names" but we've relaxed that restriction. We ask that pseudonyms not include, like, swear words or words that are likely to be censored on common posting platforms ("deathfuckyeah" is not a good choice even though you're absolutely right that the grim reaper is a cool person, ditto "iloveassandcunnilingus" like. I support those preferences but it's not something we can type on a lot of the platforms we advertise on, ditto "bilbobagginsdick" because we have to avoid anything trademarked so avoid established character names, especially unusual ones or ones from very high profile franchises cause those are most likely to run into copyright and trademark issues) but, like - those restrictions aside, we're flexible. These are all actual author and artist names we've allowed as names in publications:

Our primary goal, in permitting pseudonyms, is maximizing creator safety and comfort. We wouldn't even ask for legal info except we need it to make sure our contracts are 100% legal and enforceable. We keep that info strictly confidential (I'm the only person who has access to it) and we clean out old/unusued records regularly/within required time frames so that we're never, just like...sitting on people's legal info (whether those people are contributors, customers, etc.)
Which is to say, we follow required guidelines about how we protect the data of the people who work with us and purchase from us.
So yes. Whatever name you're comfortable publishing under/using publicly with the Press, it's probably good to go.

Diamondback,, I don't think he'd really dress up as anything? He might just wear his normal clothes and say he's a scientist or a teacher, but like..... Bruh. That's not a costume. Those are your work clothes
Then with Skink, I have no idea, tbh. My first thought was "Steve Irwin", since they're both Australian. Because Skink is Skink though, he could also throw on a dress or skirt and then get a feather boa. He could then get himself all dolled up and look pretty. I dunno what exactly he'd be, but yeah. If being pretty was too much of a hassle, then he'd probably be something that pairs with whatever Diamondback says he is
The ghosts, hmmmmmm let's see.... I feel like Lila would be the kind of person that'd put on a witch hat and say that's her costume. I also wanna be a butthead and say that she could put on a sweater and have her hair tied in a ponytail that's kinda to the side and over one of her shoulders, like the "every anime mom who dies" kind of hairstyle/overall look
Toby could put a pumpkin on his head and be a v small headless horseman, and then I think Lenore would be a princess of some sort. Not the elegant, fancy ball gown kind of princess, but one that's more simple and modest. Maybe Snow White or Alice (I know she's not really a princess but shhhh)??

esiofosiejf Spending all day making my sprites was fun :) I really like how they all came out! Since I was also able to figure out a few fun alchemized outfit ideas AND a neat grimdark idea ;))
Fyi - I put down two god tiers: Although I’m a Page of light I don’t think Sburb would allow the same aspect in a session more than once so I also made a thief of doom one since I think I relate closely with that too :))
