is there a method to how you make your art look so lineless? i'm fascinated with it

Hopefully I don't sound cheeky here but if my art appears lineless that's because it largely is !

I do a loose sketch on one layer, lower the opacity, and then block out my shapes beneath it. I add lines sparingly in places I want you to look. The face, the crook of an arm, a fold in fabric.

Currently thinking about non-English translations of Jabberwocky, because it has to be so hard translating a nonsense poem.

And it’s not just making the nonsense words fit the translated language’s morphology, you have to have most of the nonsense words mean something for a later chapter in the book where Humpty Dumpty explains the portmanteau words. So in one Japanese translation, “frumious,” which is a portmanteau of “fuming” and “furious,” is translated as “takeburu,” which draws on the words “takeru,” fierce, and “keburu”, to smoke.

But I also just love the names of the Jabberwock in other languages. In French he’s le Jaseroque, der Jammerwoch in German, Barmaglot in Russian, and at least one Danish translation named him Kloppervok. It’s the one word you could very justifiably keep untranslated, but everyone wants to make the name fit, make it feel at home in the translation.

I have no point here, I just think it’s neat.

It’s weird to me how prominent the idea is that Midoriya didn’t do anything to become a hero as a child. Could he have done more? Absolutely! Signing up for martial arts should have been number one on his list. If an adult had ever taken him seriously, they would have told him so - which would have been great, because Midoriya was, at the very oldest, thirteen. And I don’t know if you’ve ever met a kid, but their plans for the future are rarely multidimensional. Obviously there were gaps.

And I’m a little sick of people saying he did nothing. Midoriya’s strength has always been his intelligence, and he would have known that even as a kid. He spent his whole childhood refining his analytical skills. His notebooks are literally titled ‘quirk analysis for the future.’ He spent years learning to spot strengths and weaknesses, break down battles, and come up with strategies. Those are all vital skills that serve him extremely well as a hero, something no one seems to have trouble recognizing - except when it comes to this specific topic.
