Ok so to explain Lolbit, you'll need a little background--

In my sister location AU I was thinking that William uses the circus as a front to go from town to town killing kids. He takes the remnant of his victims and puts them in the animatronics. This remnant is making the animatronics more "human". Its giving them the ability to feel things like love, hate.. and fear..

Another detail is my animatronics do not move their face plates to appear more life like. The face plates are there for easy access to the endo skeleton and for easy make up changes and replacement. While the animatronic is in use, the faceplates are clamped shut. They are never meant to open them and are not supposed to see each other with them open.

This then leads us to Funtime Foxy. He went into a parts and service tent he wasn't supposed to go in.. and on a table he saw a set of purple and orange Foxy faceplates. But having been programmed to never remove the faceplates and having the remnant in his system.. he just.. couldn't understand what he saw.

It was his face.. but.. also not him? It had no eyes, no teeth, its jaw sat at a bizarre angle. It was.. horrifying. The remnant is really messing with Foxy's head after seeing that. He cant understand what he saw and is basically having "nightmares" about it. Seeing himself in the mirror as this "other Foxy" with missing eyes and a black mouth. With black sludge dripping from his eye sockets..

So "Lolbit" doesn't.. really exist..? Its more like a nightmare concept that Foxy created in his own head. And he just doesn't have the means to understand what he saw.

Yendo has a very similar story..

AAA THANK YOU SO MUCH!! :DD As for the fusion idea, I love those names!! :DD And I was leaning towards it being a separate AU of sorts. Since the ability to fuse would change A LOT about my characters stories and personalities--

I couldn't find the original post talking about this, but if I remember correctly..

Mario and Luigi had found the mansion on one of their adventures and went inside. In which the boos locked the doors and turned out all the lanterns. The boos then proceeded to play tricks on the bros and got them separated. I think King Boo was watching the other boos from the shadows..?

Now Mario had gone into one of the rooms and there was a fire flower in a plant pot. Mario grabbed the flower and created a fireball in his hands so he could see. Immediately after that the entire mansion went completely silent. The Boos were all stunned. Someone absorbing a power up was so foreign, so terrifying... so.. so impossible, that all the boos were immediately terrified of them.

All the lights leading to the front doors lit up and the doors swung open. Mario and Luigi followed the lights, reunited and left the mansion. As soon as they stepped out, the doors and windows all slammed shut. Basically saying "DO NOT COME BACK IN HERE-"

Then the bros went home! Shaken, but safe and sound <XDD

XD Ah don't worry about her! Lucky for Cici, her and the gang cannot get stomach aches. Mostly becuase I've dealt with them enough to know that they are the worst things ever! And I would never wish stomach aches upon even my worst enemy. :')💔

Sooo since I have full control over this universe, I have decided that there will never be any consequences to eating food! They can eat as much as they want, whenever they want, however they want, and they will never suffer any ill effects! No stomach aches, no gas, no uncomfortable fullness, no weight gain- no mess?? Once Cici is done chowing down on that cake the frosting will suddenly vanish from her face and hands. Cuz who likes to clean up after eating??

So don't worry bout her, anyone in the factual fam could eat that entire cake and come out absolutely thriving XDD

I pictured that they're basically just straight up tentacles and there's a set number of how many can grown out of his head at once.

He can grab things with them too! And I imagined that they can fully grow back if cut off and the longest they can grow is down to Octo's knees. Once they get that long they kind'a stop growing.

As for why I haven't watched it, its just really hard for me to switch gears for some reason. All I gotta do is sit down, and watch the movie. But my brain just cannot seem to do that, it makes it seem like its this huge task/activity that will be a drag to go through. Its really hard to explain.. I guess I'd much rather just sit in my room an draw and not interrupt the usual flow/pattern of my day-

You know the casey jr. post makes me wonder again about what was happening with these four in the doomed timeline, if they even made it very far (most of my OCs did not big Fs in chat for them), but maybe that's something you plan to cover at some point.

MOST UNDER THE CUT BECAUSE IT'S A LONG POST AND I KINDA WENT OFF. I LOWKEY COOKED ON ACCIDENT I THINK.

I was thinking about that as I was drawing too, because together they'd definitely hold more of a chance like the originals. The main thing I wanted for them was villain turtles that still genuinely loved each other after all. But then I realized. I already had an answer to this question. Because they would have to have died at least before Casey's birth and have it be long enough that the og turtles probably wouldn't have brought them up, either out of trauma (because they end up doing some wack shit and causing some wack shit) or because it was so long ago and not relevant. Since my plan is that Casey would not know about the clones at all.

See, I haven't revealed it yet, but the clones do something really conflicting a while before the events of the movie would take place in this universe. In the main timeline this ironically is be the start of their potential to change into more of a Grey area morally, as the main focus of their overall story is that they can't really change until they want to themselves. And even then, they never really become good guys.

But there's already concepts I've had where the result of this action actually splits them apart instead. Donno would be even more engaged in his more violent work, almost happier with it than ever before as they get more and more impractical and violent, or at least he tries to convince himself that he's happier, maybe a part of him is. Rage would become useless as a direct hitman or guard anymore, more likely to just have to oversee those beneath him since he's so oddly incapable of proper violence after things. Lee would become a workaholic to the max, along with his drinking getting a lot worse (somehow possible), he'd get shorter with his brothers, dropping any pretense of care when they need to get something done, "Hey, it's alright, we can do this, we'll get it done together." Becomes "Just fucking DO it! We have shit to do, and I can't be seen with yokai who refuse to prove their own God damn worth!"

Rage would be overall more resigned while somehow the increase in work ethic between Donno and Lee makes their old rivalry come back, just a lot worse now. Donno openly threatens Lee, and when for whatever reason that doesn't work he'll threaten the others. Rage has had a blade put to his throat mid conversation once because Lee wanted Donno to at the very least update the other workers on how to deal with machines when they break. Donno wanted more workers for experimentation in return. Rage was the only bargaining chip that worked, and even then, it took Lee a while to agree to terms.

Mic would take this all the hardest. He'd be desperate to keep everyone together. Time and time again, he's lost family, and they're the only family he's kept through all of it. He'd try and act like everything's fine. His habit of upping his energy and joy for others hits full swing, he pulls the others into hugs, makes little events, nothing works. Until he starts lashing out finally, and Rage is the only one that takes it seriously.

Lee just looks at him how Draxum used to.

Donno laughs in his face and mocks him.

Family, even if it never was the healthiest, is the only constant the clones have. Normally, it would be the only thing keeping some level of humanity and logic between them. So that breaking would be bad. I think this would be where they would stand in the doomed timeline. As soon as the apocalypse does start for them, they'd probably all die separately after officially leaving each other.

I think Mic would've attacked Lee after he realized Lee wasn't planning on doing much to survive. Not deadly, but lashing out until Rage can stop him and afterwards just leaving. Donno also leaves, mentally unwell as ever, insisting that "There's so many new variables and I'm sure Draxum would want me to look into all of it, even if it kills me!" Just to dig a knife into Lee's chest before he goes.

Rage would stay with Lee, and for once, Lee would be the silent one. Rage may be talking but it's quiet, he asks him how he's doing as he carries him around to safety, he gets them food, water, and finally gets violent again when he has to defend the two of them from the krang.

He even asks if they can go to get help when he sees the original turtles in the distance and Lee's wound from Mic is starting to get infected. He even locks eyes with Mikey.

It's the first time Lee speaks in ages, and it's "No." With a swing of his katana to portal them further away than ever before.

After that Lee starts wandering on purpose. He tries to get away while Rage sleeps. Rage starts to not sleep to stop Lee.

But sometimes you pass out after days of pushing yourself.

And sometimes you have to realize your brothers are dead. The world is dead. And at the end of the day, not a single thing you did actually mattered. All you did was cause pain to those you loved.

And you'll wake up. And he won't be there.

And you'll cry like a baby for the first time in years. Calling out for your dad. Your mom. Your brothers. Your voice is so hoarse and you ramble out all the words you never could, "I love you" "I wanna go home" "Please don't do this" "Please no" "I just wanted a family" "Where's my family" "Please don't leave me again" "I can protect you, I just wanted to protect you" "Let me care for you for once"

They each die alone.

Some fighting for nothing.

Some laughing in the face of reality.

Some silently wishing he knew what the whole point was.

Some sobbing for the chances he never had.

WIP Questionnaire

Thanks @buffythevampirelover for the tag! This game looks fun!

Rules: answer as few or as many as you'd like!

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

TSP: Lexi was! TSP started out as a school project, and we had to create a character sheet for our first person narrator! That was "Alexia" who is now just "Lexi" (but her full name is still Alexia).

SOTL: The concept! "School for fairy tale characters" was basically it. I got discouraged a bit when I found out this concept already existed, but that didn't mean I couldn't do my own take!

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

My favorite types of intros for TV shows are original theme songs or very catchy instrumental music. 30-60 seconds is a good length. I'd hope that for TSP and SOTL. Hope this isn't a cop-out.

3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?

TSP: My favorite characters to write for are Lexi, Gwen, Akash, Robbie, and Carmen. Lexi because the arc I gave her is an exaggerated version of something that speaks a lot to me. Gwen because I wasn't expecting her to be as interesting as she ended up being planned to be. Robbie and Akash because of how funny and sweet their dynamic is. Yes, I love them separately, but they're a package set. Carmen because she's just so damn interesting I love studying her under a microscope.

SOTL: I am barely into writing it, but it's Jack at the moment. Shocker, he has three chapters while Tierney and Úrsula have one each! But the reason is that he is average at everything, but he doesn't let that get him down! He's funny and relatable and a dork.

4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?

TSP: Hm, good question. The only thing coming to mind right now is Young Justice (the cartoon). Starts out with this fun group of kids, becomes extremely dark. Ensemble cast. Sneaking around. Superpowers. Fight scenes. Drama.

SOTL: Insert fairy tale retelling here.

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

TSP: Juggling everything. The world building, I guess. Making all the characters distinct was something I struggled at for a while, but I'm getting much better at it. Trying to figure out how the world works is challenging, but I am having fun. But juggling all the moving parts to make it cohesive is a challenge.

SOTL: What is plot?!! Also battling my ambition to do every fairy tale ever. I'm gonna have to make a lot of background characters that will get their own side stories separate from the main series to get all that I want. I probably will do that.

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

TSP: Yep! Alium has a lot of fantasy creatures, animal hybrids, and fun things I just made up. Custos the dragon is the only truly prominent one right now. He's a blue fire dragon and is adorable. I also have kitsunes. Animal hybrids include unibison, ferretsnakes, cowyotes, beaverducks. Things I made up include the elemental foxes and blue hedgehogs.

SOTL: Hofiwi is an anthropomorphic bear! She was cursed to be anthropomorphic, this is not a normal thing in this world. I love her and she's just planned at the moment. Can't wait to do more.

7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)

TSP: Hovercrafts, dragons, teleporting, trains, and some other power-based travel

SOTL: I'm still figuring this out no one has gone anywhere yet. Dragons or carriages would be cool. Maybe I can mix them with something modern to fit the setting.

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

TSP: World building! Specifically the power database since that will be the backbone for everything.

SOTL: Reading fairy tales... I need to do that more

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

TSP: Powers, diverse cast, queer/disability rep

SOTL: same as TSP but fairy tales!

10. What are your hopes for your wip?

If I see one (1) fanart between either my life will be complete.

How long did you think about/prepare for the comic before you started the comic and did you ever worry that it might not take off?

I came up with the design for White Diamond Steven on August 4th, 2018. At that time, I also said this:

.......famous last words.

Going against my own advice, I DID think about how it all happened. I thought about it for a month, and then in September I sat down and banged out the very first White Diamond AU comic - the one about Earl and Steven leaving together.

To tell the truth, at the time I just thought it would be a neat little idea. I never worried about it 'not taking off' because..... taking off wasn't my goal. I had no diabolical plans to craft a 5-season story, the longest I'd ever done. I had no aspirations to make this AU incredibly popular or well known.

I just wanted to draw silly comics about White Diamond Steven and his Pearl wandering around together.

The original concept for all this wasn't an epic tale. It was just a slice of life.... a very odd slice of life, but a slice of life nevertheless.

Which is why the first season of the story is what it is! Some people complain that it's directionless and boring, but. That was kinda the point. It was meant to be a melancholy, atmospheric little comic strip.

There wasn't any specific goal. I had a backstory, of course, and I KNEW even back then what was happening. But I assumed the interest - both mine and the audience's - would wane and I would just leave it whenever its time had come.

But by October, we had already come to this:

And I think it was around this time (or shortly before it) that I realized that this story couldn't remain in a perpetual just-vibes state forever. I had teased some hints about where the Crystal Gems were, and what their situation was. I had hinted that there was more to the story than had been revealed. And I suddenly thought that maybe I could actually write it.

.... and I kinda did.

(It's still weird to think about how MUCH I've written/drawn for this.)

I think.... a lot of people believe that writing/planning a story is something that happens on command. You sit down, you take a blank sheet of paper, you start from the beginning, and write everything in chronological order, and maybe in a week, or a month, or a year, you'll have 'the plan to write a story'.

And sure, that's one way to do it! But a lot of time, the story comes to YOU.

Rebecca Sugar knew Rose was Pink Diamond before the first episode aired. Was Steven Universe a planned story back then? Arguably, no. But the team had a framework.

I also knew, before drawing a single comic, what WD!Steven's deal was. I knew within about a day how he had come to be. I knew how Greg got involved in all of it. I knew the answer to every single 'BUT WHY DID WHITE DIAMOND--' question you guys have asked me for the past 5 years before I even created this blog.

But that isn't really a 'plan' so much as a concept.

I continue to plan the comics to this day. I know the end, and I know the main story beats. But the middle stuff about how to get there elegantly - that part takes planning. And I never really stopped planning since that day in 2018.

Here's to... more planning in the upcoming year!

Hi, I think this maybe constitutes a Wales Question! So, I'm English originally, currently in my third year at Aber university, and its reputation for "that place you go to study and then never ever leave" is looking like it's holding true. I've been living with two very good friends of mine who are extremely Welsh for nearly 2 years now, and in that time I've been slowly picking up bits of Welsh culture and language (it started with me not wanting to mess up trying to pronounce the biology building name and looking like an idiot, but I got very interested from there, and plan on taking a class after I graduate).

I'm serious about wanting to live here, I've fallen in love with the town and the country ever since my knowledge of it evolved from "dragons and sheep and funny long names on road signs" that I thought as a kid, and I've genuinely enjoyed being brought into the fold and joining in stuff with my friends, But. my friends are very adamant that this means I can Be Welsh, and I'm not sure how to take it. On one hand, of course I would like to be, but I'm not sure how much I can claim that confidently- I didn't grow up here, have barely lived here for that long, and there's still a lot I don't get so I'm worried about making it weird. On the other, I think adamantly declaring myself English instead and turning them down is very very easy to take the wrong way!

As the most vocally Welsh person I am aware of on tumblr, I am humbly requesting your take on this... would it be considered unreasonable for foreigners to claim Welshness, with enough effort put in to learning ofc? It would be very nice and appreciated to get a second opinion :)

Okay so obviously I am slapping on a HUGE caveat here that I am No One, I am just another stranger at the shouting match who sometimes has some thoughts about things I see and the ability to amusingly compare things to other things. What follows are the lukewarm takes of Just Some Person, and not to be taken as gospel in any way.

But also lol you did ask and I love giving opinions, I do, so let's gooooo

So first up, I do think you're slipping into the fallacy here of playing the Boxes Game with something that doesn't fit neatly into boxes, as indeed nothing about humans and people and humans being people actually does. The thing about national/cultural identity is that they aren't precise, immutable data points. 'Culture' is already quite a loose and ethereal beast - you're basically drawing a circle around a bunch of things and going "Everything in here is X Culture!", and you'll be largely right doing that; but, the edge of the circle isn't, in reality, a hard border. It's a gradient. The circle will overlap with other circles, too. And sometimes even the things in the centre of the circle turn out to be absent half the time, and it's all a bit messy. Really, it's a bell curve, and you're just looking to see what turns up most frequently, with the understanding that you only get the big picture from all the data points together.

Nationality is even fuzzier, tbh. It's a highly personal thing. I'm very Welsh - my Welshness, though, looks different even from other Welsh people in Swansea, and certainly from a Welsh person living in Caernarfon. There are definitely unifying elements; but ultimately, it's something you kind of carve out for yourself, both consciously and unconsciously.

And I bring that up because part of your question is, "At what point do I cross the line into the circle? How long do I have to wait and how much do I have to do before Welshness happens? When do I get to claim the label?"

And there's no answer to that. Not for anyone. This is an identity issue, not a hard scientific concept. Kind of reminds me of a lot of questioning folks in the queer community, in fact. Humans like boxes and labels because they're comforting, but ultimately, we fit in them about as well as angry cats.

With that said, though, it's certainly true that there is a profound and observable difference between a naturalised citizen and a long-term tourist, which I think is the root of your fears here. A Brit who likes holidaying to Spain and decides to go and live there but doesn't learn Spanish, doesn't integrate with the local community, doesn't respectfully partake of any local customs (especially if they condescendingly view the local customs as quirky or quaint, or worse, look down on them), who learns nothing of the history of the area or wider country... that Brit could live there for 40 years, could even go the whole hog and get Spanish citizenship. But they are nothing more than a long-term tourist. Part of claiming culture and nationality is that it's not a spectator sport.

But by contrast, if that Brit were to learn Spanish and use it in everyday life (even if they sometimes fell back on English, or used a funky mix like Spanglish sometimes); if they learned all the history, INCLUDING and MOST ESPECIALLY all the pressure points that mean a Brit in particular cannot do X thing or make X joke; if they integrate with the local community, helping neighbours and coming to community events; if they respectfully take part in local customs, and only add elements of their own culture after learning about the customs properly so they know which bits are important and which can be amended...

Well, that's a totally different matter, isn't it?

It sounds like you're in the latter camp. It's particularly encouraging that your Welsh friends are already adopting you, in the broody chicken fashion of Welsh Mams Everywhere, because it suggests that while you may be English, you aren't English TM (you know the type). So, that's a good start, and it certainly puts you on the path to Naturalised Citizen.

So at that point, I suppose it becomes a matter of personal comfort. You're certainly right that it's still, relatively speaking, quite a new facet of your identity that you've only just started exploring and developing. Learning Welsh, when you get round to it (check with the university by the way, Aber is very keen on helping students learn and can get you cheaper/free courses), will push you several miles down that road, because that's a big effort expenditure AND it will put you in touch with the second of Wales' two dominant cultures.

But ultimately, the label you use has to be down to what you feel fits best, and what you're comfortable with. If you aren't comfortable with 'Welsh' yet, then that's completely fine - it's not for you at the minute. Put it on a back burner. Maybe use 'British' for now? In place of 'English', which is more specific. Maybe you can say you're "from England originally", or that you were born there but live here now; both of those are accurate, but also give the statement of intent. They make it clear that, as an adult, Wales is 'home'. This is where you're choosing.

Heathers au part 2 💀

Okay, off the bat, this one is worse. this post is much sadder than the first one.

TW// Blood, Death, Corpses, Suicidal thoughts/actions, Guns, Homophobia, Violence, Eating Disorders (Again, basically anything that happens in Heathers: The Musical.)

Also, spoilers for Heathers, and DRDT!!!

As I said, this post is a bit more serious than the first one. You need to read the first part to really understand this one btw. sorry. I'm too lazy to explain things again hdafkjlds

This post will have the sad parts of the au, since it's basically a story run-down, but imma still try and keep it a little silly at least.

But there will be a part 3, since I literally can't post all of the images (I have over 30.) And part three will be a lot more light-hearted (just fun doodles, and some cut images from this post), so if this ones too intense, just wait for that one <3 or. dont. thats cool too. Btw I'm gonna re-use a few drawings from the last post for story progression <3

(First off, a better rendition of the Heathers + Xander. I didn't make any other full body refs because I got lazy. Anyway, I wanted to talk about these guys a lil more in this post. Character relationships and whatever.)

I feel like the Heathers as a unit all fucking hate each other. David guilt trips Arei into staying and threatens to reveal that shes queer if she argues with him, Arei makes fun of him for having severe mental health issues, and Arturo belittles both Arei and David, constantly commenting on their appearances, which he considers "Barely acceptable", basically its a cesspool of toxicity.

Xander, your average, emotional totally not British boy, doesn't really see any of this and thinks the Heathers have it so easy, and even idolizes them a little, especially David. Or rather, whatever persona David gives off to others.

This leads to him being recruited, in combo with his forgery skills, and his British accent. Cuz, yk, British accents are hot to some people.

So Xandy gets to be an honorary Heather. This is fine for like, 5 minutes before he is immediately asked to humiliate the shit out of Eden, which he does, begrudgingly. He does this by forging a note to Eden from her crush, Arei, inviting her to a party Ace was hosting that night. Arei doesn't know about this plan until it happens.

at some point between this and the party, Xander sees Teruko beat the ever-loving shit out of Levi and Ace, and he's like "oh wow 😳", which is the first time he ever notices her.

As the party starts, Xander starts getting drunk as hell, and during so, makes some kind of jab at Ace in relation to his ED (I couldn't really find a way to incorporate Heather Duke's bulimia into David, so, sorry Ace.) This leads to Ace fucking hating him with a passion.

this does not end well btw

Xander parties rlly hard, and that ends up escalating to him accidentally publically outing Eden at the party (while wasted & high), which leads to Eden being humiliated by the partygoers. Arei, who does actually like Eden as well, obviously doesn't out herself and helps in Eden's humiliation for the sake of self-preservation.

Eden's like "wha" bc she still thinks the note was real, and is super confused and hurt by Arei's reaction.

I don't believe the two would be childhood friends, like cannon Heathers, I feel like they would just. Like each other. Steal glances occasionally, wave, and smile. Stuff like that from someone like Arei would mean something, at least to Eden. And seeing what she thought was so clear shatter would hurt her a lot.

After this, Xander fucks off because him and the Heathers get in a huge fight, and he finds Teruko like. In the bathroom or something hiding from the party. I didn't really want to make him break into her house so. I didn't :) they uh. hold hands or something, and then they fall in love wooooahhhh whoda guessed

So Xander vents about his imminent death bc Art's mad at him, and Terukos like, "yeah... lets go apologize....." (she does not want to apologize). so they pull up and Xander's like "I'm sowwy Art i wont do it again" or something and then uh.

(why is the family guy death pose so hard to draw) Art drinks some Kool-aid or something that Teruko mixed with drain cleaner and dies.

Xanders like, "NOOOO WAHT THE FUCK" and Teruko, who obviously wanted him to die, is like "oh. we need to cover this up as a suicide". They do just that, and in the wake of his death, Arturo is seen as even more of an icon than he was in life, since the fake note portrayed him as an actually kind, tortured soul.

Arturo's ghost haunts Xander from this point on, basically just calling him stupid the whole time.

so after this, David and Arei are like, "Aye uh. Art's dead. You wanna hang out in the woods with us and Levi and Ace?" And Xander, desperately trying to not seem suspicious, says yes. Arei didn't really want to do this, but David forced her, and brought tons of alcohol with the intention of getting Levi and Ace drunk so they would fight and it'd be funny. He hasn't taken up Art's spot yet, so he's still kinda chill.

they. do fight, and Xander's kinda like "oop", but David's hoping it gets violent, for funnies.

it gets kinda personal..

Then it gets REALLY personal 💀

And Levi ends up beating the shit out of Ace.

Now, not unlike canon, I don't know what circumstances got Levi disowned by his parents. I feel like in this au, he probably moved in with Ace and his folks, which would give him another reason to put up with Ace's shit. Out of literal necessity. And like, they are probably friends to an extent.

Anyway, after this, rumors spread that Xander was actually the one who beat the fuck out of Ace, unprovoked. Since Ace is like 3'2 or some shit, people think Xander just beat him up bc he was an easy target without Levi around or something.

This happens because of a combo of Ace not really remembering what happened, his spite towards Xander, Levi lying about it, and David agreeing with the story (again, for his own amusement.) Arei doesn't really care enough to speak out, and Xander's reputation goes from already dead, to decomposed.

He vents to Teruko about this, cuz that went soo well last time, who makes up a plan. She tells him to tell Ace and Levi that he really wanted to fight them, and she would bring a "fake" gun to scare them with. (btw shirtless levi just to warn you) (and a dead body. and blood.) (prob shoulda put those first)

This goes about how you would expect (can you tell I gave a bit more of a shit about these guy's deaths than I did Art's....sorry homie). Instead of doing what Kurt cannonically does (hauling ass in the opposite direction), Levi actually tries to help Ace, with no luck.

I made a longer version of this but Im trynna stay in the image limit so. Anyway, Teruko is like "look what you diiidd Levi he trusted what you said and now he's dead! Ok bye" and then shoots Levi too.

Xander is losing his fucking mind, and really upset, obviously. But Teruko is like "I did it because I love you...." and manipulates him into really believing they did somewhat the right thing, because Ace and Levi were bullies, and ruining ppls lives.

They frame Levi and Ace's deaths as a double suicide. Teruko convinces Xander to portray Levi and Ace as gay lovers who, "killed themselves to escape an unaccepting world", since they contributed to Eden's harassment over her sexuality.

This leads to Ms. Hu publicly speaking up in support of queerness, which leads to the harassment following Eden, and the fear holding Arei back to subside a little, as the student body is moved by Levi and Ace's super real emotional romance.

Ace and Levi's ghosts join Arturo in haunting Xandy, and Xander regrets like. Every choice he's ever made.

Xander and Teruko's relationship is kinda deteriorating, and David decides to take officially take the mantle in the aftermath of Arturo, Levi, and Ace's deaths.

He gets kinda goofy, and starts harassing Arei more severely. This takes a head at an assembly Ms. Hu throws for teenage mental health, where she encourages the kids to vent their frustrations and grievances, which would "set them free."

Arei finally takes the opportunity, and confesses about her turbulent home life, David and Arturo's harassment, and that she struggles with suicidal thoughts. David takes this as a personal attack on his reputation since she mentioned him, and berates her, until she decides to try and end her own life in the school bathroom.

Xander stops her, and tells David to fuck off.

This ends with Arei and Xander becoming better friends, and they start to bond over their shared care for Eden. This reminds Xander how bad he fucked up with his best friend, and reminds Arei that she really does care a lot about Eden, even if she wishes she didn't.

Speaking of Eden, after everything that had happened, the deaths, the harassment, and what she thinks is the loss of the two most important people in her life (Xander and Arei), she also decides to take her own life, Ace and Levi's suicides nailing it into her head that she didn't belong. She wanted to escape to a world that wouldn't judge her, like Martha, and death was the only way she felt she could do that.

She jumps off of a bridge, but ends up surviving.

Xander, obviously fucking horrified, rushes to her side. After seeing how hurt she was, he kinda realizes how serious death is.

He killed people, all because Teruko felt they needed to. He realizes his relationship is toxic (only took a kill count of 3), and decides he can't do it anymore.

He ends things with Teruko, and goes home. He figures this is the end of it, but the ghosts haunting him tell him that Teruko was coming back, and she was mad. Oh no!

After Teruko breaks into his house, Xander locks himself in his closet and listens to her mad ramblings.

She says she's going to bomb the school, killing everyone inside, and she wants to do it with him. The whole school was basically in the building for a pep-rally, and she wanted to frame it as a school-wide suicide pact, with a signed "suicide note", a fake petition she'd passed around the school during the mental health assembly.

Xander, out of options, ties himself to the ceiling and pretends as if he has hung himself, which he hopes will stop Teruko's rampage.

Instead, Teruko decides even if Xander was dead, she was going to kill everyone anyway.

After Teruko leaves, Xander chases after her, grabbing a kitchen knife as protection, with the intention of killing Teruko, and probably himself, for the sake of the school.

After realizing Xander is alive, Teruko doesn't stop her plan. She's even more dedicated to it, and Xander is dedicated to stopping her.

The two physically fight for the bomb, and in the scuffle, Xander ends up stabbing Teruko in the stomach. He takes the bomb, and begins to leave with it, with the intention of using his body as a shield so that the school wouldn't be damaged if he ran out of time.

Teruko stops him, and in one more act of weird, toxic, love takes the bomb from him, and says she will blow up herself, and only herself.

Xander lets her take the bomb, and Teruko walks out to the front of the school. Xander watches as she lets it go off, killing her instantly, and tells her to say hello to God, having faith that maybe her death could grant her forgiveness, if there was a higher power out there to forgive her at all.

I'm proud of it, though! There are quite a few images I had to cut, since Tumblr has an image limit and I made way too much, but that's what part three is for, in combo with a little of the aftermath! I just didn't want to split up the story into two parts, since I wanted it to flow well. I hope I managed to do just that.

OMAE WA INTERVIEW WITH ALAN ITURIEL ABOUT BH’S BOOK

SPOILER WARNING FOR THE BOOK. They aren’t heavy spoilers, but if you want to read the book completely blind, leave this post for later!

This interview was honestly one of the best ones. It consisted of two parts, in the first one fans came in with camera and asked Alan questions, and the interactions were just so goddamn sweet. The second part was the interviewer asking Alan very interesting questions, and you could see he’s actually a fan of Villainous AND lovecraft and it was just a pleasure to see. The link of the interview will be below, as tumblr doesn’t like facebook livestream embeds.

Here are the most interesting questions and answers!

Will we ever see Kaleb in the show? That depends on us, the readers ;)

Kaleb was involved in Podemos Bailar but not out of his own volition. Circumstances forced him to be where he is right now. He basically was dragged into it.

In the next volume of BH’s book we'll know more of other characters that, like Kaleb, were trapped in the book.

The dialogues are what Alan put the most effort into because he wants each character to 'sound' different.

Alan loves references and takes inspiration from other media, he mentioned the little mermaid for the Huachi kingdom and lovecraft, for obvious reasons.

He has drawings of Tabet and Fuego but couldn’t fit them in the book because there were already too many pages. He also wanted to expand Kaleb and Nango’s romance more, but for the same reason he couldn’t.

BH keeps 505's original blueprints hidden; he seems to want to keep the process of his creation a secret. We kinda know why already, don't we? :)

The Hound actually is an entity that serves BH, he wasn't created by him nor is part of him. He's directly inspired by a lovecraftian creature that hunts its prey through dimensions and comes out of corners... My research says that this is the Hound of Tindalos!

Kaleb is 18-19 years old. He's been trapped in the book for 4-5 YEARS. Which means that Podemos Bailar has been training him to be a secret spy since before he was 13-14 years old... Either that, or he was 18-19 when trapped and he’d currently be 22-23. Alan didn’t specify.

Alan also mentioned that's done on purpose because the show (and the ARG with Podemos Bailar) started in 2017! So, he was one of the first agents we saw infiltrating BHO, we finally know what happened!

Alan's always loved the cosmic terror as a kid and read the lovecraft books. He loves the concept of how humans react when facing the unknown, entities that escape their comprehension, something they cannot understand and go crazy when seeing.

Black Hat is obviously, no surprise here, one of these entities. Alan likes that the fans wonder why BH's doing what he's doing if he's so powerful.

Villainous came from that, from the idea of how a league of heroes would fare against one of these cosmic monstrosities, how they'd deal with it. Like for example if you put Superman in a lovecraftian book, what would he do?

Alan loves making fans investigate, and I adore that. I love that aspect of the show the most, it keeps me hooked even after 5 years.

Alan’s loving making these books because they aren't just episodes you see and that’s it, these books make you think and investigate things.

They talked about the say 'you're the villain in someone else's story' and the other way around as a hero. Alan was asked if BH is someone else's hero. He said he's dying to show us more of BH but for now, we'll have to wait and answer that question ourselves when we see it.

BH has the ability to trap people in objects. The question is, all those people he traps in objects, do they end up in the same dimension as we saw with Kaleb, or in a different one?

More crossovers apart from the V&V one are planned!

Again mentioned that an English dub for the episodes is being worked on!

Welcome to the Hitori fucking Dies AU

Okay so I don't have pretty much anything plotted out yet but the concept is "hatoful boyfriend except hitori managed to save nageki in the fire and died in the process"

Tw for all the usual hatoful boyfriend topics (suicide, familial death and grief, medical malpractice, likeable characters making pretty awful choices)

Also spoilers for if I ever make this for real. I'd want it to be structured similarly to hatoful boyfriend where most major plot reveals happen late, so by explaining the ideas from the start of this AU I'd also kind of be spoiling every major plot twist. But I don't know how far I'll get into the project (I have had a REAL hard time focussing on writing recently) and I want to share all my ideas immediately lol

Obviously there are many logistical issues in this au that would need to be worked out- why bbl wouldn't just happen immediately if Nageki was alive, for instance. Bear with me pls

Also please note that I haven't consumed every single piece of hatoful media, mostly just the two games and sections of one of the manga. There may be some things I missed out on that.

But here are the ideas I have thus far

The first sticking point is that I think there's a high probability that if Hitori died in the fire Nageki would just attempt again because he still believes he needs to sacrifice himself and would just feel even guiltier. BUT I also think it could be equally in character for Nageki to refuse to let Hitori's sacrifice be in vain and find enough resolve to escape and keep living and find a better solution

But of course, Nageki could never have a normal life while infected with the charon virus, nor would he be content with one while he's aware of the Hawk party's plans

He'd have to go on the run, obviously. Here's where you get another interesting possible choice of Nageki somehow managing to join the Doves. But frankly I don't think an incredibly sick 15 year old with extremely limited life experience is going to be good at going on the run. I think he'd manage to stay hidden for long enough. For the purposes of this au he doesn't die from his sickness immediately but it was definitely a risk. (Let's assume that Shuu originally planned for Nageki to live much longer than he did in canon so he received some genuine medical care in between the experiments)

However. Nageki is homeless and unable to tell anyone about what was done to him or get help. He can't go to any birds because the Hawks are searching for him, and he can't warn any humans because they'd just die if he spoke to them

Surprise! This is where this also becomes a Kazuaki lives AU!

I think Nageki meets Kazuaki mostly by random chance in the street. Now, in canon I'm not sure if Kazuaki was kicked out of college at this point and that's why he was out there in the rain or if he was out there for some other reason (edit: been informed that he IS still in college when he meets Hitori in canon, which works great for me). I'm choosing to believe it's the latter for the purposes of making this au work- Kazuaki is living in a dorm at this point but is close to failing his classes and is out in the rain for some reason. Roll with me here.

Nageki stumbles across Kazuaki. He'd probably be hesitant to approach due to the aforementioned danger

But Kazuaki is obviously not in a good state, and if there's one thing Nageki hates its feeling like he can't do anything when people are struggling. And part of Nageki is purely running on What Would Hitori Do mode right now. So obviously Nageki tries to figure out what he can do to help

I think suddenly being shown kindness by some random kid who is clearly in a similarly awful state might draw Kazuaki out of his head enough that he could end up trying to help Nageki instead, out of genuine concern, a sense of understanding, and a desperate need to be important to literally anybirdie on earth

This is the first time Nageki has talked to anybirdie since Hitori's death, as well as the longest Kazuaki has talked to someone in weeks

Nageki needs a place to stay that no one would think to look for him and where he's slightly less likely to immediately die. Kazuaki needs to interact with another living being regularly, and has an empty dorm room and a meal plan he's barely been using

cue incredibly dysfunctional found family slowburn- They feel obligated to each other (which eventually becomes genuine care and protectiveness) and end up functioning better as a result

(This could possibly end up being very codependent, because what relationship in hatoful doesn't have a LITTLE unhealthy codependency. Staking the whole of your recovery on another person's wellbeing is NOT sustainable. But overall WAY healthier for both of them than Hitori and Kazuakis canon dynamic in that they both make it out alive with no deception necessary.)

Kazuaki starts attending classes again so that they can stay housed. He struggles and still can't thrive, but he just barely stays afloat with Nageki's support and renewed motivation. Nageki does what he can to make the dorm more habitable without leaving. Nageki's presence is a secret for obvious reasons, but it's a pretty easy one to keep since Kazuaki is so isolated to begin with. Nageki's trapped again in a different way, but Kazuaki's awful living space may honestly feel like a relief after the sterile lab. Months, maybe even a full year, pass

Eventually, Nageki trusts Kazuaki enough to tell him about everything- the charon virus, St. Pigeonations, Hitori's death, all of it. He tells him that one day, if he can live long enough, Nageki will find a way to expose what's going on at St. Pigeonations to the world and bring an end to it

Nageki likely tells him out of a sense of guilt- this is what he's gotten Kazuaki into, and he deserves better than all the extra trouble Nageki comes with.

But Nageki also won't be talked out of his plan, and when Kazuaki realizes this, he's not going to let Nageki be in danger by himself, not when it means Kazuaki would be left completely alone again

Kazuaki hasn't dreamed about his future in years, had no plans past college for how his life could go. What difference would it make if he started working towards becoming a teacher?

Kazuaki had no significance to the Hawks whatsoever. And teaching is completely in character for Kazuaki when he's in a slightly better mental state (see: shrine au) so no one would likely question it. No one EVER pays attention to Kazuaki or takes him seriously- which could make him a very, very good information gatherer

(And Nageki IS still sick, and maybe, just maybe Kazuaki can find out if the doctor wasn't COMPLETELY lying about doing research into curing it– if only as a contingency plan to keep his bioweapon from getting out of his control. Maybe if Kazuaki poked around enough, he could find it and hand it over to a non-evil doctor. He doesnt tell Nageki about this idea though- Nageki would refuse it outright, and Kazuaki couldnt bear the dissappintment if he told him and then failed)

Nageki... is apprehensive about this plan. But it's the only one they have, the only influence he can possibly exert to try to stop the Hawks without walking immediately into their clutches. His need to do what's right overrules his need to do what's smart.

But he begs- Kazuaki can't do too much for him, can't sacrifice his own wellbeing to keep Nageki hidden, and he can't do ANYTHING that might get him caught. If Kazuaki ever doesn't come home, Nageki is flying in right after him. Nageki has lost three families now- he WON'T lose a fourth, no matter what.

Kazuaki promises. We'll see if he's able to keep it.

WOO okay that's the main part I had planned out. But here's a little more.

I haven't thought as much about ghost!Hitori yet but. Oh man. Ghost Hitori

I think he'd be a lot less bitter than canon Hitori since he achieved what he set out to do (save nageki) but I do think he'd still have regrets enough to not be able to move on (leaving Nageki completely alone, not rescuing him earlier, knowing that there's still danger and being able to do nothing to help it)

I think he'd be less detached from the world and more driven to help others- especially the students, the kids, who were being used unawares of the horrors of the school. If only, if ONLY one of them could hear his warnings

(eventually, years later, Hiyoko can hear his warnings)

I'm also curious about how Shuu's plans would change with Nageki alive- with a burnt medical center and no liver cells to work with, he doesn't have samples of the charon virus. Would he still plan on turning Ryouta into the new carrier when the original carrier was still out there and needed to be recaptured? Lots to think about.

How I'd want to present this, ideally is as a fan game of alternate routes based on these changes

In true hatoful boyfriend fashion all of this is just the backstory to get to where all the characters are at the start of the game. The main plot is about all of the butterfly effects that occur in Hiyoko's experience due to entirely new plot threads occurring

I am counting down to the 13th :D although, you've made me way too curious about the September comic update

AHH THANK YOU so much!!! <3 Hobbit comic time!!

If I were to give a mostly spoiler-free schedule for what the next Hobbit comic chapters look like:

Chapter 13, on July 13th: Art Style Shift time again! this is the Lotte Reiniger chapter. (Completed)

Chapter 14, on August 13th: another cute short chapter, featuring more elaborate art than usual. The last of this kind of chapter. >:3 (completed)

Chapter 15, on September 13th: - big turning point that starts leading into the finale (not complete yet; all the script/sketches are done, but I’m plugging away at the illustration)

Chapter 16, on October 13th*: (the chapter most likely to be delayed): the beginning of what I consider the “finale” chapters, and also the chapter I’ve been most excited to draw since I first started this comic!

It’s only in thumbnail form now, but I want it to be the most beautiful thing I’ve ever drawn. Which is a lot of pressure :P. It’s going to be twice as long as ordinary chapter— 20 pages instead of 10– so while I’ve tentatively scheduled it for October, it may come out in November or even much later. I’m starting a new full time job soon so I’ll likely have less time to work on this comic, but!! When it comes out will be great. I hope <3

Chapter 17, on November 13th***:a short simple breather part of the finale

Chapter 18, on December 13th***: another elaborate chapter that is likely to be delayed/take longer because it’s going to involve a Lot of elaborate backgrounds

Chapter 19, on January 13th****: this is my original planned Final Finale chapter for the comic, and the end of the Shire section of the story. This will also involve a lot of elaborate illustration and will probably take a very long long while.

My original plan, if I decide not to continue the comic after the Shire: “From the Notes of Bilbo Baggins,” some chapters showing snippets of future adventures. This would begin with a set of character sheets “written” by Bilbo Baggins, describing the different dwarves of the Company/their personalities. After that, it’d be concept art/illustrations for other moments in the story, descriptions of how certain story moments would be handled if I were to continue, and comic adaptations of the moments I’ve wanted to adapt forever (like Riddles in the Dark, the reprises of the Misty Mountains Cold song, the surreal dreams the Company has in Mirkwood under the influence of the Elf-King, the escape from the Woodland Realm, the conversation with Smaug, and the death of Thorin.)

Everything with asterisks is likely to be delayed, as I’ll have less time to work on this comic soon and these chapters are going to be more elaborate and complicated.

Since your daring little act has gone pitifully stale, and not a single user bats an eye to bring it upon themselves to inquire about your series that dragged on for quite a while, I'll be of assistance to hopefully spark up the crowd. I DID enjoy being a part of this rollercoaster of a ride afterall. Though, quite dismayed I missed it's final stead.

If any you wish to share, what spiked your interests to finish this projects?

What were your initial plans? Did all of this still fit your vision, or not at all?

How was the creation of these characters been discussed? Who the heaven's unholy wrath are those other two we'd completely forgotten about?

How drastically were the characters changed from what you originally wanted them to be? Did you like these alterations or no?

How was the dreaded fire and brimstone that is dealing with the ungodly wrath of the lunatic anons, and their targeted negativity?

Do you think that the story presented is clear, or have you still left some doors open, mysteries still left unsolved, or lingering? Waiting to be sought out?

Some of them did end somewhat How I wanted them to. And I'm honestly glad I stuck to my guns on these ones. But no- my original concept was dead on the ground as stated before.

I created them by discussing it with a person who was going to make my original designs ( Carrot Cake ). No not Designs. More like I made the original idea and then they gave me some feedback once we both knew we won't be able to continue this contact. Then came in Meranti and Ring Ring. Ring Ring was the one to ask me general questions while Meranti was the one doing the detective-like searches into my characters. In the end it was mostly my own belief and designer choices. ( I stole the idea of Carrots Fighting glove earrings idea.(With his permission of course) )

The two you forgot about and the thing Tommy kept bringing up in the Ending was L and 32. If I ever do an Epilogue you can bet I'll end this one off finally if not then assume they were fine ever after.

Oh very... VERY different. At first I thought I could make camo suits! Ha! Very funny. Tommy's designer was going to evolve with him but that was scrapped after I realized I was unable to draw his signature hat. G-Man was going to be more business than casual that he ended up with. Coomer was going to have a pattern shirt as well as normal coloring in the computer;( everyone else came after this designe ). Benrey was the same from the beginning to the end. Darnold was the same as well once I nailed down the style. Gordon I did not make as said and Barney and Boper were both made from a memory I had of them. ( Gnomes are drawn from a reference and The dogs are dog images but Sunkist is pixelated. )

It was fun to answer their chaos with my own. Though The Old Goat came out of nowhere. I made Bubby to fit the tale of the turtle yet he ended up not fitting anything in the end. Pushing him to be his own bad guy instead of following one path. The Internet Alcohol saga was also funny. I think it was a great time overall.

There is one mystery I know 100% no one solved yet. Though my description of the series in the previous ask was somewhat revealing. Also the L and 32 mystery was not solved at all, left to stay in place. Though I know some of you already know the ending anyway.

Lets Be Friends!

Hey, I'm back! And I have some big stuff to show.

I'm proud to announce that UTBB's pacifist route has been fully written and fleshed out! With Geno being 20% done. I plan to flesh out the neutral routes after Geno/NM & Pacifist are completed. The Geno/NM script is taking longer due to me wanting to incorporate a more meta & darker tone while still fitting it in the Undertale Universe. I've had to cut somethings due to it being to dark or just not making much sense. Maybe I'll show some of is on a later date.

I've also had the Original Ruins implemented into the game right before it separates to a more larger part of them. My plan is for the player to explore not just the Ruins but the center capital located in the ruins.

This area to be precise!

This does mean that progress will be a little slow since I have to start making tile sets & backgrounds for the game, but don't worry, I'm actively experimenting with backgrounds & environments with concept art that will be posted. . . Sometime in the future! I'm not good with setting dates.

I've recently gotten FL studio and has been learning how to use it. Sadly, I've hadn't gotten much luck. Music is a whole different area for me since I've only ever stuck to writing, coding, & drawing. But even so I will figure it out and make sure to put my best effort into it!

Like I've said, I've implemented the rooms for the Ruins & I've finished the coding for basic player movements. I've completed Valor's walking animations and finished the script for them in the games code.

Like I said before, I just have to start making my own tile sets & backgrounds. And also get to work on the battle UI. Speaking if battles!

I'm currently in the works of making enemies to fight in the game. Sadly, this is only in the concept art stage and I feel like I want to make some more before sharing them publicly. I've only worked on main & supporting cast members up till now so this part is relatively new.

Again, as a Warning: This game carries heavy themes regarding the main protagonist such as Suicide, Self harm, mental health, & parental neglect. If you are uncomfortable with any of theses topics then kindly please leave.

Just like in Undertale (And i guess Deltarune?) there will be LGBTQ+ themes in UTBB involving two of the main cast members. There will also be gender-neutral, & genderfluid characters in the main cast & supporting cast.

This all I really have for now. Since I couldn't figure out how to put a full length video in an article/dev log, I plan to post footage of the game on my Profile once I have them ready. I really want to show more on what've done but sadly, things must remain a mystery until its time to reveal them. I'm still learning as a game dev & as an artist but I hope to one day show all of you just how much I've put into this game other than some long paragraph. review: once upon a broken heart by stephanie garber

As someone who is a little too online in the bookish community, I've been hearing people sing the praises of Stephanie Garber’s Once Upon a Broken Heart since its publication in 2021. Although the spin off to the Caraval series, general conscientious is that it’s not required to read Caraval before Once Upon a Broken Heart. It was an easy read I tore through one afternoon while sick on the couch, this highly popularized novel was not worth the hype it gets.

For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings... until she learns that the love of her life will marry another.

Desperate to stop the wedding and to heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.

But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game—and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’d pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after or the most exquisite tragedy… (summary via Goodreads)

Once Upon a Broken Heart would be an amazing fantasy novel, if you’ve never read a fantasy novel before. Unfortunately, the world building is messy and nonsensical, prioritizing aesthetics over substance of any kind, character, plot or otherwise. Instead of a narrative that makes sense, Evangeline Fox is a heroine with pink hair and pretty dresses, Jacks is a cocky magic boy who always seems to have an apple at hand and a detailed description of his mouth.

Evangeline’s motivations are clear, because she tells us constantly, but there’s no emotional depth. She originally visits Jacks because she believes her boyfriend Luc has been bewitched into marrying her step sister Marisol. What’s so great about Luc, you may wonder? I’m not sure, Evangeline likes him, but we don’t meet her beloved Luc until nearly two thirds through the book, and he’s only one the page in a single chapter.

None of the character relationships are fleshed out, instead relying on fairy tale tropes to fill in the blanks the lack of development leaves. Evangeline’s step mother is cartoonishly villainous, Marisol is predictable the villain, and after Evangeline’s original visit to Jacks she lets the story take her along instead of controlling her own narrative.

Jacks is a Fate, a trickster demigod also known as the Prince of Hearts. He’s cocky and crafty and as in folklore, making a deal with him often comes with unintended consequences. He likes apples and if he kisses anyone but his One True Love, they’ll die. He’s the annoying bad boy character to a tee complete with a tragic backstory as to why he’s heartbroken and I just didn’t care for him. I don’t care for his kind of over confident character type and I will admit that’s more of personal preference than anything else.

Then, inexplicably, they introduce vampires two thirds of the way through. Fates are immortal yet can be killed, adding some stakes to Jacks existence, but they can also be turned into vampires? So in this world, vampires rate higher than the god-like characters. The inclusion of vampires was just too random and strange, kind of a pointless addition for the drama and creepy aesthetics of it all.

A big draw of this trilogy is the slow burn romance between Evangeline and Jacks. In this first book, the pair are barely friends, more like reluctant allies. This is fine, totally in line with a slow burn narrative, but neither character was interesting on their own let alone together.

The concept of the novel was an interesting one; a fairy tale land, the pink haired heroine, making a deal with a magical prince of hearts are good ingredients of a story. But where Once Upon a Broken Heart falls flat is in the execution. It’s equal parts confusing and unnecessarily convoluted while being boring and mediocre. My biggest complaint about the book is that the writing style is utterly insipid. It’s basic and lifeless, without anything interesting about the narration, sounding far too young for a young adult novel. It truly feels like baby’s first fantasy novel with all flash and no substance.

Weekly Update January 5, 2024

I’m still recovering slowly. I never mentioned this because I want to be as vague as I can about my big congenital medical issue, but the surgery last week removed some tissue that affects my endocrine system, and now that it’s gone I’m having some problems with my mood. I have a medicine that corrects it, but I need to wait another week and a half to get my dosage adjusted, so all next week I’m going to be volatile which sucks. Stomach has seemingly gotten better though so hopefully that pain was just caused by those cysts and nothing else was wrong. Sorry if I ramble on a bit too much tonight, I am loopy because of the endocrine stuff so I might go on too long. Anyway artstuffs.

I got a music project done. It was for Mav, and it was pretty small but I stayed up all night working on it. Working on it I discovered a big set of plugins that I got somewhere that look to be automatically doing some of that balancing I was worried about. I still need to double check what exactly it can do, since I’d like a widener plugin, but I don’t want to stack my brain over it if I already have one. I have a few ideas floating around for the next song thing, I’m a bit hesitant on continuing that vocal one I haven’t finished because I watched a bunch of videos today in the bad lyrics of the Wish soundtrack, and the lady kept bringing up cadence and pentameter which are concepts I know about but can’t hear. Like, pentameter is supposed to be the natural inflection a syllable has, but like whenever I hear it, I just hear the inflection of the vocalist. I think I’m overthinking it, since she used a writing scheme to explain it and I think the vocaloid software uses that same writing scheme so maybe I can learn through practice? Or I can just write lyrics that match the melody and call it good as long as the flow sounds natural because of subconscious understanding, like how I figured out how to do harmonies. Whatever. Music theory is hard but my stupid will and brute force is harder.

Other instrumental things I’ve been kinda thinking about include a little Zelda medley that I already recorded the melodies and stuff for, instrumental themes for my OCs because of course. And then I kinda want to just do a big fat medley that goes on for like an hour-ish because I love those kinds of medleys they’re great for car rides and stuff. And the final two I’m thinking about would be for animation memes: either an arcade beat-em-up style boss fight sounding theme, or a cover of a 90s pop-punk-rock (idk what genre) song. I think that one would be cool because I could use it as promotional stuff for a comic.

Oh yeah that O’Malley comic! I actually did good thumbnail work on that this week! I was going to do more today but mood and sleep schedule were wonky, plus I had a meeting this morning, so good chance I’ll put it off until tomorrow. But either way, chipping away at it, trying to watch more movies so I can get better at understanding shot comp, watched Kill Bill part 1 last night and wasn’t expecting it to be like, the best fucking movie ever? Like why does everyone talk about it like ‘eh it’s pretty good’ like no that shit was *Phenomenal*! Hoping part 2 lives up to the first, planning to watch it maybe tomorrow night? Definitely before I go back to uni. Anyway pitch comic is coming along nice, after it’s drawn I can either work on the rest of that story or a pitch for the secondary story I’ve been working on, depending on demand. Right now leaning towards series, since I have general synopsies for a couple more general ‘episodes’.

Also only done like one general drawing for comsheet practice hehehe it’s fine I can try others as time comes and is appropriate. Also did epithet stuff but not as much as I’d like. My original plan tonight was to work on TTRPG stuff but maybe I’ll do writing or thumbnailing instead. Or maybe both.

TRGA: got shot 1-4 done enough. Also got Jon tweened for 1-5. I need to clean him up and do his face and stuff. Tonight maybe if I’m having trouble focusing on the other stuff I’ll clean him up, I think I want to go back to that ‘one significant development a day’ schedule I was on for a bit, but pushed a bit further since I have better strategies now. I’ve also started the ‘every time I sit down and open clip studio I’m going to draw one (1) prop’ strategy so hopefully props won’t be as bad in the future either (even the ones I can’t just recycle). Tomorrow if I’m doing better I’ll try to get 1-5 Jon’s face done (and clean him up too if I don’t tonight) and maybe do another drawing. Maybe more epithet TTRPG stuff maybe not.

I’m trying to get my priorities back in order. 1) TRGA 2) Comic work 3) fix your commissions 4) other projects. Inspiration is fickle though so I’m really all over the place. My mood being volatilized is also not helping but I’ll keep going until my brain explodes. For now I’m able to plan out enough with time for sleep and stuff. I don’t know what’s exactly going to happen when classes start but I am taking *fewer* credits than normal so theoretically that means more time.

Mermay 2023 - 4th Week and last three days

Day 22 - Zodiac

Well, with a prompt like this one, it was a little too easy to go with the Aquarius for Mermay. But... the thing is I have a certain attachement for this astrological sign in particular.

Day 23 - Tradition

And here is "Mahu", the dumbo octopus merfolk from day 21, once more ! I had vaguely alluded to it, but "Mahu" won't be their name, even if this is what I had planned initially. I'll explain why.

You've probably noticed that all of the merfolks I made for Out of the Abyss are strongly inspired by polynesian cultures, the most obvious ones being Hawaiian and Maori. And "Mahu" is in itself a concept of the Hawaiian culture : a third gender of which the name translates litteraly to "in the middle". Mahu people had an important role in Hawaiian society. They taught spiritual and social traditions, which included, among other things, teaching the hula.

And so, for me to have the idea of naming them "Mahu" to begin with, you've probably figured out that it's because this is what they are, traditionally speaking. But as I thought about it, I realised naming them by what they are would be like naming a cat, well, "Cat". It's a bit dumb.

Basically, I want to give them a new name. I'll certainly keep a two syllables name to at least keep things simple.

Hmm... In fact, maybe I could find them a name that has something to do with traditions ?

Day 24 - Zaddy

I made this character on the spot as I wasn't really inspired by the prompt. But I think I managed well with it nonetheless.

Day 25 - Food

No matter his form, Humphrey will always be a big glutton. (Even if, thankfully, he doesn't have the same voracity as when he used to be an actual whale.)

Day 26 - Jewel

"Shiny... For me... ?"

Day 27 - Halle Bailey

Ok, I'm not gonna speak on the matter of the Disney remakes as I believe everybody knows and that everybody roughly agrees about it.

No, here, the subject is Miss Bailey. I think no one can deny it, her voice is magnificent. And no matter the state of the movie, if she took pleasure in playing Ariel's role, then I am gald for her. And I also wish her a good continuation in her career.

Day 28 - Sailor

Alright, I might be cheating a bit with this prompt here. But the idea had been floating in my head for a while now and I finally had an excuse to put it on paper.

I don't know if I was the only one to have this idea, but I saw no one imagine the Captain Caviar ending up with a merman form as a result from being cursed by Black Pearl.

And yet, I saw many people draw him as a merman, so I'm surprised I haven't already seen this idea roam around...

Day 29 - Barbie

I loved the Barbie movies when I was a kid, especially the Fairytopia series. Here, I drew Elina, main character of this movie series, who takes on a mermaid form for a good part of the movie "Mermaidia".

Day 30 - Blue

I had mentionned this on day 21, but I'll have to reiterate it for this prompt. Leviathan is a blue whale merman.

It's in fact for this same reason he's the tallest amongst his peers : blue whales are the biggest mammals known in the world. Even Humphrey, a little humpback whale merman in comparison, is no match.

Well, perhaps that under his original form, Humphrey could have surpassed Leviathan.

Day 31 - Good night

I never would have guessed that I needed to see Dino-sour be a father figure to a half dinosaur baby cookie in my life.

Yes, the previous sentence makes no sense out of context.

I no longer play Ovenbreak ever since... well, ever since even before what happened with Yogurca (the less we talk about it, the better), but I'm still trying to follow the stories on YouTube. And honestly, I think that Pond Dino is the best thing to have happened to the "Rise of the Blue Dragon" update. I get how their design bothers some (it's rather overloaded, let's admit it), but... Just...

A/N: I blame this fic completely on those who asked for it and take no responsibility for any resulting nightmares. The original concept is below, and was not my idea. Read at your own risk. This is pure crack fic. I apologize in advance.

Suggested by my dad: Callen and Anna get married as planned, they head for their honeymoon destination, and when they get here (look away if you’re squeamish), Anna peels off her face, and it’s actually Hetty.

The One with the Clone

“You know, I’m surprised Hetty didn’t actually come,” Deeks commented quietly to Kensi as they watched Callen and Anna finish their final dance of the night.

“Eh, it’s Hetty, she’s a walking enigma,” Sam said with a half-smile. “I’m sure she’ll pop up when we least expect it.”

“Hopefully just not on Callen and Anna’s honeymoon,” Kensi added with a short. Both men turned to her with twin looks of horror.

“Why would you say that?” Deeks asked.

“It’s funny. You know, that’s like the worst time possible and Hetty likes to be unpredictable.” She waited, obviously expecting them to join in, her laughter becoming increasingly awkward and forced.

“Deeks, your wife is nuts.”

“Hey,” Kensi protested as Sam shrugged apologetically. She turned to Deeks, looking for his support.

“Hey, I love you baby, exactly as you are.”

“Gee, thanks!” Shaking her head, she leaned into Deeks’ shoulder. “I’m happy for them.”

“Yeah, it’s good to see them finally settled after all this time.”

“So, what do you want to do first?” Callen asked, drawing Anna into their wedding suite. He couldn’t stop smiling, happier than he’d ever recalled. Anna seemed relieved too now that all the wedding drama was over. “Wel could go for a walk through the gardens, grab something to eat. Deeks said there’s a good Mediterranean restaurant nearby or he mentioned another place with and I quote, “amazing pie”. Actually, Kensi brought up the pie.”

“Callen,” Anna grasped his arms, swaying slightly as she drew him farther into the room. “Do you really want to look at tulips or eat apple pie right now?” she asked him coyly.

“Well, I was more thinking like a French silk since Sam isn’t here to glare at me and talk about cholesterol.”

“Callen.” She gave him a playfully reproving look. “We’re on our honeymoon. We just got married.” She drew him closer, clasping the back of his neck as she kissed him lingeringly. When their lips parted, all thoughts of food had been swept from his mind.

Callen cleared his throat, sliding his hands to Anna’s waist. “Yeah, let’s stay in.”

“Good. I’m going to go change into something less…restrictive,” she told him, dropping her tone suggestively. With a wink, she slid out of his embrace, grabbing a small carry on bag with her into the bathroom.

Figuring he might as well get comfortably too, Callen shrugged out of his jacket and stripped off his bow tie, sighing in relief. After that he grabbed the room service menu, and put in an order. Then he emptied out his suitcases, which took up a quarter of the small closet and one drawer. He just moved Anna’s bags to the side, knowing better than to mess with her clothes.

“Ooh champagne. How fancy,” Anna said, coming up behind him as he filled two glasses. She slid her arms around his waist, pressing her face against his back.

Turning in her embrace, he offered her one of the slender glasses. “I figured this was one time where I cliché wouldn’t hurt.” He clinked his glass against hers. “Congratulations, Mrs. Callen.”

“And to you, Mr. Callen.” Anna looped her arms around his neck, drawing him in for another kiss. He slid his free hand down her back, feeling bare skin and lace.

He smiled against Anna’s lip, laughing softly.

“What?”

“I’m happy,” Callen answered simply. “Probably happier than I’ve ever been.”

“Really?” Anna asked, sounding uncharacteristically shy.

He cupped her cheeks and kissed her again, putting his whole heart and soul into it. “Yes.”

“In that case, I have a surprise for you,” Anna said, taking a step back.

“Oh yeah. Well, if it has anything to do with this, I can get behind it.” He gestured to her negligee.

“Not quite.” Brushing her hair off her shoulders, she pressed her fingertips to her scalp line. Callen frowned in confusion, which quickly turned to horror as she pulled down sharply, peeling skin away from flesh.

“Anna!” he shouted, reaching for her, but she held him off with an upraised hand, peeling away the rest of her face with surprising face. Revealing an entirely different, and horrifically familiar face.

He stumbled back, banging his elbow on a dresser, but he didn’t even register any pain. “Hetty,” he breathed, eyes wide with shock.

“What’s wrong?” she asked, the voice still Anna’s, yet coming from Hetty’s wizened face.

“This can’t be. I must be dreaming.”

“I assure you it’s all real,” Hetty said, stepping forward. When he shied away, she looked hurt, but didn’t attempt to move closer. “I thought you. said you were happy.”

“Yeah, with Anna, not…” He trailed off and gestured to Hetty. “So all this time Anna was really you?”

“Well, no, not at first,” Hetty admitted reluctantly. “The first few years, you know the real Anna, but then once a romance began between you, I felt I needed to intervene.”

“Then where’s the real Anna? You didn’t—?”

“Oh no, she’s quite safe on one of my properties.” Hetty seemed to think that would reassure him. “I had to scale back how much I used her after a while because she began getting suspicious.”

“Oh my god,” Callen murmured. “Neither of you have been in the same room for years and all this time—Oh god.”

“That doesn’t mean anything need to change between us. I’ve made you perfectly happy,” Hetty continued. “You just said it yourself.”

“You’re insane.” Callen shook his head, lurching towards the door.

“Where are you going?”

“I need to get out of here,” he muttered.

“No, you can’t leave! We’re on our honeymoon!” Hetty objected, darting at him.

“Don’t come near me,” Callen said, raising his head threateningly. Slowly, he backed up, blindly reaching for the door. When he felt the doorknob, he wrenched it open, and threw himself into the hallway.

“Grisha, please come back!” Hetty called desperately after him. “I can still be Anna for you.”

Callen just sped up, certain no amount of alcohol would ever erase the image of Hetty in Anna’s body from his mind.

A/N: I think this is the first time I’ve written anything romantic for Callen and Anna, so that was weird as well for me. It may just end up sounding like Densi. Although it helps if you read Anna’s lines with her accent.
