There’s this fic I absolutely adore, I reread it at least once a year, the author is one of my favorites, but I’d never, ever tell a different author that. It’s kind of like when adults would compare one child to another, in a “why can’t you be more like X” thing, where that’s completely counterproductive and does more harm than good. You can privately think one fic is better than another, it’s human nature to have preferences and like one thing better than another, but why on Earth would someone tell one author that they like a different author better or that Y’s fic is better than X’s?
In general, I'm just against comparing fics. In any context. You can make rec lists of your fav works, but the second we're getting into the territory of ranking, this is where it's starting to become a problem.
"But people review movies and give ratings to books--" yeah, but fics are not movies!! and they're not books!! I promise you that the writers of GOT will not be devastated over some teen on Reddit thinking their series sucks, but when you're just a regular person scrolling through a social media only to find a video of people talking about how THAT ONE FIC is so much better and they would never read something you poured hours of your life into because they don't like MCD, that's..... hurtful.

The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. People are self-censoring sex to seggs and $3× but every other ad you see is still filled with half-naked women. Rightwingers want queer people arrested for so much as existing in the same postal code as a child and are also drumming up a moral panic about how teenage boys aren't getting laid enough. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

when i was a kid i wanted to be a famous youtuber like dan and phil so that people would gay ship me with my irl best friend and we would be sooo weirded out by it and laugh and make videos joking about it but secretly it would make her realize her repressed gay crush on me and i'd help her through her gay crisis and then we would have a sickeningly sweet sappy romance and read fanfiction about ourselves together... anyways just found out she's married to a guy in the mafia now so i probably don't have a chance

you're going about your normal day when, suddenly, surprise! you've been pokémon mystery dungeon'd!
unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!
tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.
bonus rules:
you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny
take your pick of regional forms and evolutions (for example, if you roll vulpix, it's up to you whether that means normal or alolan vulpix)
apply whatever logic you like with regards to gender
have fun and be yourself!
