A friend was talking last night about how confusing it is to be named Matt when he has multiple other Matts in all friend groups/activities. Meanwhile, we got a new guy at work who goes by the name Pickles. Nobody's gonna confuse or forget his name!
There should be more guys named Slim, or Catfish, or Jaybird. Ladies, NBs, all other gender variations - y'all get in on it, too. More nicknames all around!
Complaining abt Suicide Squad yet again but the fact that they have Waller exposing the alien community to space racist attacks and talking abt how she got to her position through deceit and being a terrible person and stuff is just. Ahsfiwueh JUST SAY YOU DONT KNOW WALLER.
Anyways literally the 3rd mission of the Squad ever (and the first framed as smth Waller picked and not orders from above) was the Squad discrediting and stopping a rogue vigilante who was only arresting POC and funneling white people into white supremacy groups (of which he was the most prominent member) in SUICIDE SQUAD #4. and it's explicitly framed as this mission being personal for Waller that she's hiding from the government bc its illegal like. Guys. Please why are we having her incite (space bc comics) racist attacks now
Also the whole "Amanda got her position through deceit and being a terrible person" NO. she KEPT her position through being shitty and playing complicated political games!!! She wasn't always that way like there is a difference and it is IMPORTANT ppl PLEASEEEE. In Secret Origins #14 we learn Amanda's backstory and she used to be a normal, caring person! Like even after she entered into working in government and politics she wasn't automatically morally bankrupt like please people. She was originally given control of the Squad by Reagan (*sigh* 80s comics...) to distract and get rid of her because she was so successful at pushing progressive social policy in Congress. Acting like she's this static pillar of evil is such a waste of her character and so fucking uninteresting and disrespectful to her arc it drives me MAD.
Like I am NOT saying Waller is all sunshine and rainbows, she fucking SUCKS (said w love <3) but like there's a human being there. It's a progression, she has a character arc like please, DC, please!!! They've fucked up Waller so bad and made her so opaque and uninteresting she can't even be the protagonist of her own story for fucks sake!
Like I don't know how many times I have to scream it until DC hears me or remembers but WALLER IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF SUICIDE SQUAD. ITS HER BOOK. yet right now she's a cutout to be used as the villain wherever the writers please. Even in her book we get none of her perspective really displayed, no exploration of her thoughts with any kind of understanding of the role she traditionally has played and was made to play in the story.
johnny was quite the manipulative little shit, really. he only decided to mention once you were getting hot and heavy just how catholic he was, how condoms were against god's plan and how they were unnatural. (besides, don't you want it to feel the best for him? don't you want to feel him with nothing between the two of you?)
of course anyone else can see he's fucking lying, but the sparkling look in his eyes has you convinced, and surely johnny would never lie or manipulate you like that, right?
he promised he would pull out before he came, promised he wouldn't get you pregnant just yet because he knows how much you don't want kids. definitely not now, maybe not ever. but your warm depths were just too tempting, breeding you was just so natural, you couldn't even fight him off as he pinned you down with his hard cock and filled you full of rope after rope of cum and groaned praises to you through the whole thing.
and then you found out you were pregnant, and johnny had to do everything in his power to conceal how fucking happy he was at this outcome. his girl, growing his child.
everything about it made him just want to pin you down and fill you again, after all you had nothing to lose now, it was all too late.
when you start to withdraw from him, he blames it on the pregnancy hormones, but then he realises the truth one day when scrolling through your search history. he expects to find you research cribs or baby names, but instead finds a medical website all about termination--you want rid of the baby, his baby.
he finds you in front of the mirror, looking at your growing stomach with misery in your eyes as plain as day. he doesn't see why you're so miserable when you'd be better off at home with your babies instead of out on the field with him. he kisses your shoulder, wraps his arm around your stomach and looks you deep in the eye--pinning you with a knowing gaze. all you see within is the situation he's trapped you in.
keep the pregnancy he forced upon you, or live with the fact that in his eyes, you'll always be the girlfriend that murdered his baby.
I cannot imagine being a Damian stan right now. You've got both Zdarsky's bullshit (where he clearly doesn't give a shit about your boy) and The Boy Wonder (where Juni Ba clearly gives so many shits about your boy) coming out on the same day. The whiplash must be insane. I hope y'all get some nice warm soup for your efforts jfc
Keep thinking of Buck and Bucky's perception of Rosie through their eyes. When they meet him, Rosie's a great pilot, has been training gunners for ages and knows his way around a plane well - but has yet to see any combat. He's that wide-eyed kind of hopeful that he can make a difference.
When they meet him again by the end of the series, Rosie's gone on to fly 52 missions. He's well and truly past his first tour, and well into his second. The rest of the 100th adore him and respect him as a leader; and Rosie adores them all right back.
Despite all of that, Rosie still seems like the same person - undemonstrative, and a little more heaviness to his shoulders perhaps, but that wide-eyed hope that I can make a difference hasn't faded.
One thing I had to do for Back to the Finale: Part III was figure out the state of the Waverider in-story and the biggest part of that was tracking how the rooms changed owners over the years.
It got so confusing that I physically had to map it out and I wanted to share for anyone else who might need it.
The basics: The Waverider has 8 presumably identical rooms that were then modified by Jax and Rip before season 2.
The boxes around the names are for where it's not clear who took which room, e.g. Nate could have taken either Snart or Kendra's room.
To sum up:
Mick and Sara were the only ones to stay in their rooms the whole time (unless one of them swiped Rip's at the beginning of season 3)
Astra got Ray's room.
Amaya and Nate took Snart and Kendra's rooms. Then Amaya's went to either Charlie or Mona.
Martin's room went to Leo for a short time and then either Wally or Rip while the other person got Jax's empty room.
After Wally, Rip, and Amaya left one of their rooms went to Charlie, one to Mona, and one was left empty while John chose to sleep in the library. Gary took over the empty room eventually.
Zari 2.0 got Mona's room and Spooner got Charlie's.
I think John is right here. From everything we learn about A—, I can't imagine him ever telling John to “let go.”
However. This goes both ways. I think pre-apotheosis John would be thoroughly horrified if he was ever confronted with what John Gaius, the Emperor Undying, has become
Francisco: I'm now thinking we should have added more food in this level...
Charlie: It is noticeably missing, isn't it?
Francisco: Yeah!
Charlie: What would the Fabricator eat? What's her favorite snack? I'm thinking, like... a little dessert. Like a French bonbon or something.
Francisco: Yeah... Maybe it's a scorpion sandwich with a chaser of antidote.
Charlie: Ohh, yes! I think she would like- in the same way that people like spicy food, she would like poisonous food, and then antidote chasers.
Francisco: Yeah...
Charlie: ... That's horrible!
Did John really make Gideon into a walking corpse, or did Gideon do that? Pyrrha assumes it was John—that he summoned her soul back and bound it to her body—and Gideon casually agrees with her, but.
As Coronabeth points out, Gideon’s body already wasn’t decaying. She was all zesty and lemony fresh well before John even knew she existed. He didn’t do that. And a soul is attracted to its body. It will find its way back, and proximity helps.
When Cam said that they lost something very precious just after they found Pyrrha and Nona, she meant Gideon’s body right? For a very brief time after exiting the River, Pyrrha and Harrow’s body were in proximity to Gideon’s body. That’s a hell of a coincidence. If they had followed the thanergetic link back to Gideon’s body to get there through the River, then when Alecto won the revenant catfight and booted Gideon out of Harrow, where else would Gideon have gone?
