So I’ve had an au idea stuck in my head for awhile about a bio bad Bruce/older brother au except Danny has no idea who his bio parents were, with the batclan going to amity when Talia reveals that Bruce had an 18 year old son who’s gone missing, when in reality he’s just chilling in the GZ doing Ghost King stuff. What do you think?

Oh I positively adore this.

Bruce is searching high and low and, being the emotionally constipated brooding bastard that he is, refuses to tell any of his kids what’s going on because he doesn’t want to let them know about his guy until he is 100% sure that his son/brother is still alive. (I really enjoy Danny being the older Brother to Bruce just cause I think it’d be fun. Change it up a bit ya know? Let the Batkids have an fun uncle goddamnit.)

He tracks down the most likely candidate that is his brother with the help of Talia’s descriptions of the man… wait that’s not right…

Bruce stares at the batcomputers many monitors as he stares at the obituary of one Daniel Fenton. He died in a sudden collapse of a warehouse years and years ago.

His eyes flicker over to the rest of the other monitors. All that have photos, CCTV feeds. videos, and even social media of Daniel Fenton that only went silent little over a year ago. The rest of the footage exists well after his supposed death.

Bruce absentmidedly turns the JL communicator in his hands, debating if it’s worth it to get a magic user to cast a tracking spell and let them know of a private matter or to continue researching solo.

How do you think each member of team RWBY would react if they found out peter's secret besides being obviously gobsmacked.

Hmmmm.

Ok in order:

Ruby - After the initial shock wears off she’s ESTATIC. She knows a real life superhero! He has a legit costume and secret identity and all that cool stuff!! She would obviously want to see his webshooters and then geek out over how he makes his own webbing out of chemicals he makes himself. She’s probably ask if he could teach her it so she could make web bullets or something.

But after hearing about him getting into a fight with Kingpin and MJ about ready to take him to the hospital it’s like a slap of reality. She urges peter to make a weapon to defend himself better but he refuses, not only could he not afford it but peter hates firearms.

But ultimately she finds herself inspired by him, peter is a hero but he’s also just a normal guy. He’s nothing like the heroes she read about growing up who go out to save the world, Peter goes out every day to save a person. That’s a new type of hero to her and one she wants to try and be.

When she faces her lowest points as leader she’ll think about what people like her dad or her mom might do, but now she thinks of what Peter would do. He never gives up, so neither will she.

Weiss -

“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR F&$KING MIND?!?” is her initial reaction. Peter has no training whatsoever in combat, crime scene investigation, police procedure, etc. and is obviously going to get himself killed right? Despite his assurances that he knows what he’s doing, she gives Peter an ultimatum, give up being Spider-Man in a week or she’ll make him.

Peter knows that she cares in her own way but tells her that he can’t.

As the week passes, Weiss stays alert for any news about his exploits. All of them from the Daily Bugle about how Spider-Man nearly got someone run over trying to stop a car, or someone nearly fell to their death because of him, and it’s not until she sees him in person saving people from s burning building that she sees how capible he is.

No one is hurt, everyone is safe, and Peter is fine. When the week reaches its end she confronts him and tells him she still thinks what he’s doing is stupid and dangerous. But peter is resolute and tells her that he knows that, but if he’s not around to help others than someone could get hurt or killed and if that happens then it’s on him. Weiss assures him that’s not the case, that he doesn’t have to do this, he rebutted by telling her she doesn’t need to be huntress either but she choose to be, just like he did.

She admittedly submits to his secession, but also says that she’ll be taking notes on how to improve his performance.

She also thanks him for stopping her kidnapping and apologizes god badmouthing Spider-Man in front of him constantly.

Blake- After the shock wares off, she asks how he got his powers in the first place even though he’s not a Faunus. When he tells her how, she realizes why he wouldn’t tell anyone as being what he is might make humans and Faunus alike reject him for just being different.

She’s the most accepting, but whenever she hears critisim of what he dies she has to fight the urge to defend him. Ultimately it gets to the point where she asks peter how can he keep doing what he does despite all the criticism. Peter can’t answer why, so he asks her to fallow him on a patrol one day.

As she fallows him the first thing she noticed is that not everyone is happy to see him. The words Menace, Freak, even Perv are tossed at him constantly but he just replied with a joke or something. But theres people who cheer him on, ask for autographs or selfies which peter immediately obliges.

And it’s only crime he takes care of but the people, he helps pull a car to an auto shop a few blocks away. He sees a upset child and asks why they’re crying, there’s a homeless man on the corner that he buys a hotdog for.

By the end of the day she’s kind of floored by it all and she slowly gets it, Peter’s not hung up on being different, he embraces what he has in common with everyone. He doesn’t see Faunus or Humans separately he sees them as people. He doesn’t help them out to prove that there’s a better way or anything he does it because it’s the right thing to do.

She keeps that lesion close to her heart for the rest of her life, help someone and you help everyone.

Yang-

Her first reaction is concern, how he got his powers in the first place is what makes her worry. A radioactive spider?! Was it poisonous? Did it hurt? Could he be cured if needed? But peter assured her that he ran basically every test he could on himself within reason and found he’s pretty much fine.

After that she tries talking to him every day to make sure he’s ok. And at first it’s fine, aside from a cut or bruise that heals up surprisingly fast, she starts to relax. That is until she checks on him one day and Peter is beaten bloody and is covered in bandages.

Rage is the first thing she feels, who would hurt her friend and where could she find them. And just in time because Peter’s police scanner picks up some giant lizard that he fought earlier was sighted. Before she can make some new boots Peter gets up and stops her. When she is about to force him to sit down and rest he webs her to the wall and leaves to save the day.

After that when Peter is healed, she demands that she unlock his aura for him. Peter is indifferent but lets her try. As soon as she reaches out with her aura she feels it.

Guilt.

It’s overwhelming almost as she feels what peter felt the night his uncle died. It’s like what she felt when she led ruby into the first years ago multiplied by a thousand. She asks him why, why the hell would he do this?

And he tells her the addage, “With Great Power there must Also, Always come Responsibilty.” and tells her that was the last thing his uncle told him before he died. And she understands why, the desire to protect Ruby, her friends, her team? Peter feels that for everyone, even his enemies.

She was always a thrill seeker, she wanted the adventures the life that a huntress held because it was fun and without worry. But now she realizes the weight that comes with it, but it’s not a bad thing. It keeps peter humble, he’s not boisterous like some huntsmen she’s met but he always has the people’s safety on his mind.

So she does the same, she has fun in her battles but from now on she always double checks the people. Before, during, and after the fights because like Peter she has power and a responsibility.

Has there ever been any ideas for a bio dad Bruce AU where Danny eventually takes up the Batman mantle? I know he’s super nice and stuff, but considering he’s a certified eldritch abomination (especially so if he’s Ghost king), wouldn’t he be the most terrifying Batman ever? Like, even if he didn’t use his powers for whatever reason, he’d still be creepy af.

Hm. That’s certainly one to ponder on. There’s a lot of shit that goes with the Batman mantle that I really don’t know the hyper intricacies to explain but let’s just say that it’s very big shoes to fill.

Danny is very much so afraid that the rest of the family will resent him for taking up the Batman mantle. He has to. Jim Gordon once offered to take up the Batman role again to stand in for Bruce for a while but Danny declined the offer.

Danny makes Batman a little more unreal. Glowing eyes, fading into the shadows, fangs, slight subliminal fear responses. Enough to make people afraid enough to not notice that another man is in the place of the Dark Knight.

Batman Isn’t a person. Batman Is a Symbol. And he will do everything in his power to keep that symbol alive

Do you have any advice for an AU involving the magic users of the DCU just having a no context vision of Dan destroying the world when he travels back in time with the league only meeting Danny months later after Dan has been dealt with (but they wouldn’t know that)?

hm. that's genuinely a very good question.

My initial worry that the magic users would immediately get on trying to decipher this vision and to find this being. If it's been months since they've seen this vision, how has Danny not been found yet? What's inhibiting the magic users from seeing Danny via various forms of divination or locator spells? You can use the excuse that Ghosts simply cause magic to go haywire and whenever they try to locate this figure they saw in their vision's they get the magic equivalent of a broken compass needle spinning in circles.

You can say that Dan can mask his aura so magic users don't notice his presence. You can also use the excuse that Danny's aura and Dan's aura cancel each other out so he can't be found.

The main magic user I think you'd have an issue with off the top of my head is Madame Xanadu. She is sought after by many DC groups and characters for her talent to read the future using tarot cards and is very in tune with the changes of power and magic that happens in the supernatural side of DC.

Clockwork could cloud her vision of foresight. Amity could be funky and be shielded from all magical forms of divination and spellcasting. Maybe Amity straight up is hidden from the world and Doesn't Exist on earth. It's kind of a "Only those I have Chosen to see me can view within Amity Park" situation. Maybe ectoplasm disrupts magic and the Fenton's ghost shield that they have around the town stops any form of magical location to find Danny or Dan. Have a reason why the magic users don't find Danny nearly instantly. I suggest a possible jumping POV of various magic users and their reaction to the vision or the magic users collaborating to find Danny but to no avail.

The fucking second Danny is noticed by a JL magic user they would either instantly go "holy fuck it's him" from having to search for this guy for months and mentally memorizing his face. Or going "oh shit does this bitch have a father/older brother/mentor that's the big guy destroying everything".

That's the thoughts I got on things to think about for your fic. Hope this helps!
