Sabo was exhausted. As each of his heavy, weary steps carried him forward to the entrance of the Revolutionary Army’s base, he realized he had been for as long as he could remember. The ceaseless grind of missions and responsibilities never used to bother him. He always managed to push through the mental and physical anguish of being on the road, the dull ache of loneliness could be cast aside and crammed into the furthest corner of his mind.
That was, until you came into his life. Both of you knew what you were signing up for when you started your relationship, but that didn’t make it any easier. Weeks or longer would go by without a word of communication. Sabo was a wanted man so it was simply safer that way in his line of work. Until you saw him again with your own eyes, you had to assume no news was good news. But despite the physical distance that kept the two of you apart, the love and trust the two of you had for each other never waivered. With every welcoming embrace, you and Sabo picked up right where you left off as if no time had passed at all. He was grateful for you and missed you dearly.
This particular string of missions took Sabo away from you for months. He watched green leaves turn to fiery oranges and yellows as they fell to the ground. Time seemed to move even slower than usual as he watched the island change with the seasons, thoughts of missing you accented by the crunch of leaves under his footfall. His heart ached, mind wandering through every memory of you he held dear, the way your face crinkled when you laughed, the way your eyes lit up with wonder when something piqued your interest…
Before he could get too lost in his thoughts, a particularly red leaf hit the brim of his hat and fell into his hands. He picked it up by the stem, twirling it between his gloved fingers in the sunlight. It was a perfect, broad leaf without blemish, vibrantly glowing scarlet amongst a sea of earthy decay.
A new memory took shape in his mind. He was standing beside you beneath a maple tree, snuggly wrapped in a sweater. The tip of your nose and cheeks were flushed pink from the brisk autumn air, a red leaf stuck in your hair that you had failed to notice. Without thinking, Sabo plucked it from your locks. You looked back at him doe-eyed and beautiful, an expression he etched into his mind from that day forward… As Sabo’s thoughts returned to the present, he warmly smiled and tucked the leaf into his notebook.
Since then, he collected trinkets and objects that reminded him of you. Anything from shiny baubles, scraps of poetry, or humble shells was added to his sentimental treasure horde. Rather than fixating on the perpetual longing in his chest, he looked forward to the day he’d see you again and share these pieces of his heart with the one he loved most.
And now, as Sabo trudged through the dark hallway to your shared quarters at the base, the thousands of miles between you dwindled to mere steps away. His grip squeezed tightly on the wooden box he meant to present you as he turned the door handle. Finally, his pilgrimage was over.
Sabo slowly opened the door, the familiar creak of the door filled the dark room. His eyes scanned the room until he saw you, fast asleep in the bed you two shared. Your hair framed your face around you on the pillow like a halo, the all-too-familiar purr of your breathing filled Sabo’s ears like a lullaby. Even with how heavy his boots and his hat felt on his body, he felt weightless as he stood before you, heart no longer burdened by separation. He softly placed your box on the nightstand next to you as he peeled off his layers from his journey. The two of you could comb through those treasures tomorrow. He’d hold you in his arms, reminiscing on your stupid inside jokes and the little details of your life together you thought he’d forgotten. As Sabo laid down next to you, weary eyes growing heavy with sleep, all that mattered tonight was that you were with him again.

The three most important ancient Egyptian theogonies and cosmogonies (a text of Egyptologist Salima Ikram)
" Creation Myths
The ancient Egyptians had several myths dealing with the creation of the cosmos and all that it contained. Probably, many of these myths had local origins, but with the unification of the country, they were gathered together and regarded as equally believable, or, depending on a particular situation, one may have been favoured above the others for some time. From the evidence that remains, it does not seem that the Egyptians had difficulty holding onto fairly contradictory concurrent beliefs.
The Heliopolitan Cosmogony is one of the earliest creation myths and originated at the site of Iwnw (Heliopolis in Greek; biblical On), a major solar centre. In this myth, a group of nine gods (the Ennead) created the world. First, the god Atum ("the complete one", "the all") masturbated (in some stories, he spat) and from his ejaculation created a pair of gods, the male Shu ("air") and his female counterpart Tefnut ("moisture"). They gave birth to Geb ("earth") and Nut ("sky"). (The Egyptians are almost unique in having a male earth god and a female sky divinity.) In turn, Geb and Nut produced two sons, Osiris and Seth, and two daughters, Isis and Nephthys, who were also their brothers' consorts. Clearly, incest was not taboo for gods in Egyptian religion; it was also acceptable for kings, who were regarded as gods. Incest was a taboo for anyone else, however. The tale of Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys leads into the Osiris myth cycle. (Fig. 64.)
An equally important myth, the Hermopolitan Cosmogony, originated in the Middle Egyptian city of Khemnw (the Greek Hermopolis), which was sacred to the god Thoth. In this tale, a group of eight gods, an Ogdoad, consisting of four couples of male and female divinities, personified the elements of chaos, or pre-creation. These were "hiddeness" or "hidden potential", personified by Amun and Amunet; 'formlessness", personified by Huh and Hauhet; "darkness", embodied by Kuk and Kauket; and the primeval waters, incarnated in Nun and Naunet. These deities created an egg that contained the gods responsible for creating the other gods, the land, animals, plants, and humans. Thoth was probably this god originally, which was particularly appropriate since an ibis is hatched from an egg. However, Atum was inserted in this role in some versions of the myth.
The Memphite Theology is another significant creation myth. This was probably an old tale, but the most complete version known to us was recorded on the Shabaka Stone (ca 710 BC, Dynasty 25), named after the king who had the myth inscribed on this piece of basalt; another version, the Bremner-Rhind Papyrus (4th century BC), was written on papyrus. In this myth, Ptah created the world by conceiving it in his heart (equivalent to our mind) and then giving it life by articulating or naming each element of the world and its denizens. The idea of thinking of something (Hu) and then causing it to exist through the act of speech (Sia) is close to the later biblical story of God's creating the world through speaking it; this story has also parallels in Australian aboriginal myths and in other concepts of speaking or singing the world into being. In the Memphite theology, Ptah created Atum and the Ennead, and, through them, the rest of the world.
Minor variations exist for all these myths, and sometimes, in the Memphite theology, other gods, such Amun-Re, supplanted Ptah as supreme creator, although Ptah remained an important character in the myth. Alternate accounts also exist; for example, in "The Destruction of Mankind", Re was cast as the supreme being and self-creator, with other gods, such as Nefertum, also playing generative roles."

(for the ask game) would you rather have unlimited time to write but no clue what to write about or all the ideas you could ever want and no free time to write? 😭
I answered this on my phone and tumblr ate it. 😭😭😭😭
Tumblr media
this is so evil lmao. omg if I have to pick then I guess I'll pick having unlimited time and no clue what to write because I already go through the pain of having a lot of ideas and no time to write lmao.
Maybe, since I have unlimited time, I can force myself to do a writing exercise and something will pop up in my head eventually?? OTL

19 and 20 for the writing ask meme?
Do you plan out your projects? if yes, to what level? how well do you stick to your plans?
Longer pieces, usually any x OC fits that I write with multiple chapter I definitely do plan! Some of those outlines are over 25k words, and detail a scene as if it's a play-by-play cliff notes of the entire story. The end result is usually pretty close to the initial outline, though I intentionally leave flexibility so that if I get a better idea later, it's easy enough to change.
Where do you begin a WIP? ex: a mood, a scene, a certain character dynamic, etc. does this differ per project?
I must write a story from the first scene in chronological order to the last. Since I often take themes or nods to previous scenes, I can't know how to include them if it's written in any order but chronological. Typically I will get a specific scene in my head during the story and build around that. Sometimes it's as small as a single string of dialogue between them, other times it's the entire scene that begins the main plot.

My Greek mythology professor was talking about how yes, giving offerings and sacrifices is worship to the gods, but reading Hesiods poetry was a way to worship and connect to them as well.
So even if you can’t give physical offerings you can at least read about the gods as a way of worship

"Fair wreathed Kytherea"
-Hesiod's Theogony, Gany translation
Aphrodite of the golden crown
The lustrous hand mirror
Seafoam from the cosmos rains down
The mist grows clearer
Kytherea blew in
From warm Cyprus winds
Enchanting the Seamen and Seafarers
I hope you enjoyed today's tale of legend and lore, come back next week and there will be even more

This has been bouncing around in my head for a year now and I need to share it before it drives me actually insane (which, given the subject matter, is entirely appropriate)
In the Overly Sarcastic Productions video for The Theogony, they mention that Metis was prophesied to bear thoughtful children greater than their father—first a daughter, then a son. Zeus proceeds to avert this prophecy by eating her, yet Athena is born from his body anyway.
Now the thing is, nowhere else in the surviving Greek mythos is it possible to avert a prophecy. It just doesn’t happen. The path you take to avoid it frequently leads to the prophecy being fulfilled.
Then, in their video for Dionysus, it’s mentioned that in some versions of the myth, Zagreus/Dionysus (not just the god of parties—he was also the god of madness, divine inspiration, and rebirth from death) was supposed to be Zeus’ successor. And Dionysus is the only other god to be born from Zeus’ body instead of from a mother. Just like the daughter of Zeus and Metis was.
Greek mythology/religion has no established canon, especially since it evolved organically, and the chances of these two myths connecting to each other is slim to none. And yet I can’t help noticing the similarities in the myths and how they fill each other’s holes. Can’t help conflating them.
So: I want a story where Dionysus isn’t just the son of Zeus and the mortal Semele, but also—because of getting sewn into his father’s body—the son of Metis as well. And therefore, because he is the firstborn son of Zeus’ first wife—and also Zeus’ youngest son, following the Ouranos-Kronos-Zeus “youngest child succeeds” pattern—the true heir of the Olympian throne.
Make it happen, Riordan. You know you want to.

Prometheus
In Greek mythology, the Titan Prometheus had a reputation as being something of a clever trickster and he famously gave the human race the gift of fire and the skill of metalwork, an action for which he was punished by Zeus, who ensured everyday that an eagle ate the liver of the Titan as he was helplessly chained to a rock.

jellybean & skittles for the selfship asks? :3
hi hi hope you're well! thanks for the ask ^_^
Jelly Bean: What’s a quirk/little detail about your fave that you think is cute? how no matter what, i'm able to tell how eren's feeling, even if he tries hiding it. for example, he has a little eye twitch in his right eye when he gets irritated. or how he looks away and covers his mouth when he tries to hide a smile.
i also like how clean he is. constantly making sure there's no dust forming on any shelves, things are put where they need to be, always offering to wash the dishes. he's meticulously clean and even has to remind me to be cleaner sometimes eheh
Skittles: Do you have any headcannons for your f/o? eren is really bad at far range combat. he's used to being up close and personal when he fights, so he can't shoot an arrow to save his life. he's practiced his archery a few times, but can't even get the arrow onto the bowstring sometimes. other times he nearly takes someone's' eye out. he's constantly trying to get better though.
