something i've been thinking about:
Wally is set up as a sort of "main character" by the whrp. he's said in the site's description of the show to have introduced the main theme/lesson of the day's episode, and then the rest of the neighbors join him on his escapades. but then we have our first glimpses of everyone's actual dynamics and characters through the audios and you look at Wally and its like
first of all, thats an npc. second, nearly everybody else has severe main character syndrome
but its fascinating how Wally is just kind of... There. he doesnt talk much. he doesnt contribute beyond a couple of lines. its more like he joins the others on their shenanigans. he fades into the background. he's off to the side while everyone else holds conversations & leads the moment
Wally, despite being described as Thee character, is borderline background.
& whats even more interesting, within his individual secret audio files and interactions - he's almost chatty. not only that but the way he talks is more confident and faster paced. he's taking initiative. he can be kinda pushy. when talking to the qa/whrp/Us, he acts more like the character his descriptions portray. he acts more like a person instead of a puppet waiting for his next cue
I cant tell if - when around the neighbors - his tepid milk behavior is a purposeful act or if he's masking. and if he's masking, is it deliberate or involuntary? and in regards to both, why is he acting so different? It could be tied to what he's trying to accomplish. if he's trying to "restore" Welcome Home, it would make sense for him to act as he does around the neighbors - he wouldnt want to clue them in that he knows so much more than he's letting on, would he?
but then that begs another train of thought - what if he isn't acting or masking? if there is a time discrepancy between Wally's interactions with the qa/whrp/Us & the more 'official' audios, that could explain the difference in behavior. we could be getting glimpses into "future" (read: current) Wally, who's had much more time to figure himself out since we can safely assume he started out as a blank slate. we could be seeing a more experienced Wally than the one seen with his friends.
of course that line of thinking loses some merit when considering the 14 "bug" audios. or it could lend to it... if we're seeing a more experienced Wally but his friends are only seeing what he allows them to. it's still him, just... a carefully curated version.
in general it could really tie into the themes of identity and change and being other, to me. when you're so different - or you feel so different - that you can't bring yourself to be your most authentic you around your friends. when you feel like you have to hold back and be who you think they expect you to be, or what would be most palatable. most normal. will they accept you as you really are? there's always the fear and terror that the people you consider closest to you won't. or when you're so scared of change that you'll shove down & lock away parts of yourself so that you can keep things as you are. because once they know you've changed, so will they. and really, do you want to even accept that you've changed? what if that's what scares you most of all - that you're different, you've metamorphosized, you can't go back to the way things were because you yourself are no longer the person you were before. there is no reversing this no matter how much you try or pretend
#its just so fascinating#the whrp: wally's The Guy!#wally (with his friends): the most lukewarm dude ever#then he's alone or alone with home and its like Hi My Name Is Wally Darling & Welcome To Jackass *off-tune guitar riff*#bbg has ✨problems✨#and like - im giving all of his stuff a re-listen to make sure im not misremembering or completely talking out of my ass#but his phone call? the way his VA is delivering the lines seems So fuckign different than in the shared audios#his tone is flatter. he sounds more sure of his words and himself. he Sounds like he's in control and knows it.#immediately going from that to a shared audio where he puts more inflection in his voice & doesnt talk much#and when he does talk its slow. meandering. his lines are more befitting of his audience surrogate role#which only makes me feel more like he's acting/masking (again: if that time discrepancy does indeed exist)#which - as someone who kinda compulsively masks around Literally Everyone no matter how much i want to Not - it kinda hits hard!#i suspect that he Is masking instead of acting. he's The Most Autism as we all know so it would more than fit#and that could add an extra layer if it's automatic and he can't turn it off. or if he doesn't want to turn it off#but also acting... a misplaced attempt to protect his friends and world? not feeling like he can share his 'true' self? augh#wally darling you make me unwell. i want to dissect you#wh speculation#welcome home speculation#homebogging#and then listening to his little record audios#he starts out talking like he does in the shared audios and then slowly gains confidence until he's speaking more like he does in the call#just. wally not being talkative in the neighborhood to the point where everyone's like 'yeah wally isnt much of a talker'#vs him chatting away to the qa/whrp/Us#of course it could be because he has to carry the entire conversation on his own#But. but. you can still carry a one sided conversation and be hesitant or awkward or um. missing the word rn but short-sentenced#brief? succinct? concise?#wally's fully trying to make conversation with someone he knows can't reply. which is interesting#so many ways to take that. well. three#maybe he doesnt feel listened to in his day to day life / he feels more comfortable and can relax / hes been alone for a long while#anyway there may be more ways to take this but this is all my tiny poppyseed brain can reach atm

➳ wally's biggest crush (wally darling x gn!puppet!reader omeshot)
synopsis: even though he's married, his crush on his spouse still retains as he went through a memory lane of how he first met the love of his life
cw: none, just some fluff
a/n: new hyperfixation goes woopp (also inspired from a reddit post) and also, i've added a last name on reader's name to make it more sense
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He couldn't just get enough of you. As he continuously sat down on the comfortable armchair that he seems to be fond of while watching you in home's kitchen, making something that smelled absolutely delicious. Maybe it's cookies? Or perhaps a mouth watering baked pie that most of his neighbors loved? He just didn't know on what you are making. Afterall, he is the kind of guy who loved surprises from the love of his life;
(y/n) Darling, or Mx. Darling is what the neighbors called them.
Their generosity and patience towards others is exactly why Wally not only made him curious about you but also didn't expect are the main reasons why he fell hard for you and it all started when he first saw you moving into the neighborhood and greeted the other neighbors with enthusiasm and respect, even offering some of your baked goods as a token of friendship. Wally watched you with curiosity as you loved from different shops to houses until you reached his house. In response, home released a variety of sounds, indicating that it welcomes you into its walls.
The poor puppet's seemed to be a bit shy upon meeting the new neighbor, especially someone as beautiful/handsome as you. 'You can do this, Wally.' he thought to himself, fixing his hair and dusting off his attire. 'Just say hi and welcome them in this neighborhood. Yeah, that should be easy, you can do thi–' When he opens the door, Wally becomes paralyzed and stood as still as possible when his eyes met yours. He could describe you as someone who's soft, welcoming and sweet as sugar. He doesn't even lie that your aura alone makes him warm on the inside.
"Hello there, I'm-"
His mind went blank, doesn't know what to do next and instead, he slammed the door in front of your face.
The way you didn't get mad nor acted cold at him when he first slammed the door in front of your face. You just stood there in confusion, still a tray of cupcakes on your hand as you knocked once again on his door and heard Home's squeaking in retribution and disappointment towards Wally.
squeak!!
squeak!!
bang!
"Ow!!" Wally reacted from the fallen book, hitting his head. "You don't have to do this Home. I have already embarrassed myself in front of them." Onomatopoeic sounds can be heard from the building, threatening the homeowner that it will take drastic measures to get him out from its walls. "Fine fine, you don't have to be harsh, sheesh Home." Finally, Wally got out from his house.
"Um, I am so sorry for the commotion happened here..." He spoke as his eyes glued on the trees above and stared back at your (e/c) eyes. "And about the slamming that door on your face...." In response, you chuckled and gave him a warm smile. "It's fine, don't worry about that. I understand that it was unexpected of you to meet someone new who just moved in this neighborhood today." You replied and silence looms around as Wally continuously stares at you.
"Oh! I wanna give you these cupcakes. They're newly backed and I hope you liked it."
"Thank you new neighbor, that's kinda sweet of you to bake these. I'm Wally by the way, Wally Darling." A smile appeared on his face, taking the cupcakes off your hands. "I'm (y/n) von Sweets!" Grabbing his hand and shaking it, Wally couldn't resist the heat creeping up into his cheeks. Your hands are so soft and warm, just like a newly baked bread from the bakery. "I better head back from my shop that's recently opened, I'll see you around then, Wally." You spoke, waving him good bye as you went your merry way towards the yellow brick road of the neighborhood.
Still standing as still as possible, Wally didn't move from his spot. He just continuously stares at you, up until you disappeared from his point of view and still wondering when he will meet you again. Maybe tomorrow perhaps he will visit you in your bakery while bringing a bouquet of flowers as a token of his friendly gesture to you.
Wally closed the door, now staring at the colorful tray of cupcakes in his hands. "Gosh, ain't they the sweetest, Home?" It squeaked in return. "Such a lovely neighbor, maybe I'll visit them tomorrow." He sighs dreamily, taking a bite of the cupcake and couldn't get enough of the tarty and fruity taste of your baked good.
. ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .
"Watcha thinking there, sweetheart?" His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of your voice. The smell of his favorite baked pastry begin of consume Home's 4 corners of its walls. "Just the time where I first met you, my darling. I just think to myself; how am I this lucky to be your husband. Me, an ordinary painter?" You giggled, giving him a plate of a sliced apple pie on his hands. "Even after you married me, you still have the biggest crush on me. When will that go away?" You teasingly asked. Wally placed his plate on the coffee table and wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you into his lap.
You see how his pupils has changed into little hearts. "Never, my love. I am contented of being in love and having a crush on you." You continuously kissed his face, from his eyes to cheeks and finally his favorite part, his lips. The both of you let out a big 'mwah' while kissing each other. The painter felt himself being more and more deeply in love with you as you gave him more of your attention and love.
"I love you, sweetheart. Thank you for being the man of my dreams." You sighed lovingly, now placing your head on his neck. Your husband just looks at you with adoration as he places a kiss on your forehead. "I love you too, my darling. My dearest, dearest darling."

hi, if you dont mind me requesting, how about a wally darling x gn reader where they are the villain of the show, but like,, unintentionally. they are vv clumsy and knock into shelves at howdys, trip eddie on his mail route, ruin julies chalk games, etc. and every time they feel horrible, but run away because they are scared of confrontation. so one day they knock over all of wallys paints while hes stepped away, and when he goes to their house to give them a piece of his mind, he finds them crying and ranting to their cat about how bad they feel but how scared they are to apologize (sorry if its too long!! ive had this idea in my head all day lol)
A poor soul who is mistaken for the villain being a victim to their own clumsiness. I love it! Hope you’re having a good day or that it gets better! Also you’re fine I love it when I get descriptive requests! ⚠️⚠️warning: Angst
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“ Oh no! No no no!” You gasped panicking over the now kicked over bucket of paints.
All you wanted to do was take a closer look at Wally’s newest artwork on the large canvas. But no you just had to accidentally step into one of the paint cans. As you tried to get your leg out of it you had only made things worse. Sloshing paint everywhere, knocking down more cans, tubes, and almost the canvas. But you had managed to save in it your colossal pile of mistakes. As you finally got your foot out after jerking it out the heavy can you had noticed a small smudge of red paint. Your heart beat quickened. You ruined it! You ruined all of Wally’s hard work, hours, seconds, and passion. You just ruined it!
Why are you like this? Well that’s obvious. You’re the town screw up. The pushover who always ruins everything. You sometimes avoid going anywhere for months because you’re too scared to ruin something else. For instance one time when you were just looking the ingredients you needed to bake a cake as an apology to Julie for accidentally giving her poisonous flowers. They had all of her favorite colors , but turns out hot pink can literally burn your eyes. You had knocked down two shelves after hitting your head on them. You didn’t know what to do or how to handle all the eyes on you so you ran. Just like with Julie after giving her the flowers you ran. Just like with Frank when you accidentally tore half a page in one of his books. Just like with everyone else you always ran away.
Just like right now as you ran away from an enraged Wally who had just came out of home. Frozen in shock taken back by his usual cheeky smile now gone and replaced with an annoyed look. So you rushed to your only sanctuary as always your house.
Tumblr media
You apologized as you ran back to your own house. You panted slamming the door as you knees curled into the floor of your home. You just wanted to look at someone’s painting and yet instead of being able to admire their work you ruined it just like every thing else. All except for one soul in this name uttered your name with a scowl. Well if they could and it was your pet cat Mr.Wiggles. He was an adorable spynx cat who you one day found out all alone in the rain in a battered up box. His red eyes may have made him look scary but you find them enduring from how much love he always showed once you were in the room. On days when you let him wander around with you to most he would look like your evil sidekick ,but to you he looked like a little angle just wanting to make friends. It’s almost like you were both on the same boat of being the outcasts of the group.
You sat on the cold floors as Mr. Wiggles came to your aid at the hurried slam of your front door. Meowing attentively as if he was trying to ask what was the matter. Seeing as you were once again crying once home. Curling beside you as he tried to comfort you.
“ Thanks buddy, but I don’t think we’ll be welcome here anymore.” You sniffled trying to hold back the rest of your tears.
“ I’m fine I just…screwed up…again!” Your voice cracked as the tears poured down once again while you trembled from each sob.
Tumblr media
This was outrageous! How and why do you always keep on doing this!? Tube after tube of his new paints were ruined. Even his brand new canvases he laid out behind his latest work. Everything ruined and covered in the new paints. Were you just trying to make everyone feel bad? Every time you came out of your lair you always ruined something. For instance with Julie you made her sick for a week with flower pox! You had tripped Eddie while he was out on his daily run to Franks house. Burnt Poppy’s cookies when she asked you to watch over them. Ripped a book of Franks favorite book sure it was Frank, but even he wouldn’t do that to that to him. You had made a huge hole in Sally’s now broken stage. You knocked down two displays in Howdy’s store and didn’t even try to help. The worst one was with your evil little cat. He had pounced onto Barnaby’s head.
And now you decided to ruin his work. That was the last straw. Chance after chance was given to you, but now it seems like you’re just testing your luck.
“ How does someone even manage to achieve all this in under 5 minutes!?” He frustrates at the ruined paints.
His cavas had a small smudge of red paint on it thankfully. Everything except his painting was mainly ruined. But just why do you do this? The first few times when you first came here everyone brushed it off as small accidents, but it was just a constant cycle of ruining things. So he had no choice, but to try and confront you. To see just why you kept doing this. And to give you a piece of his mind once and for all.
Tumblr media
As he greeted a few of his neighbors while he stomped over to your own home he eventually came to the dark and gloomy home of yours. Already giving him chills down his spine as he was about to knock on the door. But he soon had heard sobbing and continuous meows. Concerned he looked around to see where they were coming from and noticed one of your darkly colored windows opened still. He sneaked around the corner peeking through the cracked window.
“ I know I know! It’s just that whenever I make a mistake and try to help I just can’t stand trying to talk to anyone.” You cried.
“ I just want to be friends and make up for my mistakes, but every time I try I make a new one! I even ruined Wally’s beautiful painting and got Julie sick! I’m just a horrible person aren’t I?” You ranted to Mr. Wiggles.
“ It’s just like every other neighborhood I’ve gone to! Soon enough they’ll all start hating me and want me gone again.” You cried now uncontrollably sobbing.
He then felt pity for you as you cried out to your cat now holding him close. Just as he was about to try and comfort you he soon tripped over a stray thick vine in your almost dead garden.
“ Wha..What was that!?” You gasped startled as you slowly got up hurriedly seeing who had just yelped outside your open window.
“ Hello Neighbor!” Wally popped up from the outside of your window startling you.
“ H-Hi…I swear I didn’t mean to knock over your paints! I just…I swear it was an accident!” You sniffled.
“ I know. I didn’t mean to ease drop, but I heard everything you said. But I just wanted to say sorry to you. ” He chuckled trying to lighten up the mood even as your glazed eyes still threatened to draw tears again while you used to window as a fence between the two of you.
You shyed away from his gaze as you croaked out “ Why… I’ve done nothing, but ruin everything since I got here?”
“ Well we haven’t been the best of neighbors to you. I don’t even think I’ve even tried to get to know you.” He said as you rubbed your eyes trying not to cry again.
“So how about we give this another shot?” He asked extending his hand out for you with a comforting smile.
“ I’d like that a lot… Neighbor.” You smiled getting up from the barrier you of your window taking his hand.
Maybe things will be different this time.
Tumblr media
Thank you all so much for reading this all the way here! Hope you’re all doing well or that it gets better!

Hey hey it's welcome home!
May or may not be doing this cause its a description of one of my ocs, but uuuh- Wally, Poppy and Frank with a 'reader' who is basically Robbie Rotten from Lazytown, just an obligatory 'villain' who lives to cause trouble and come up with 'schemes' for the rest of the cast to deal with even though... Uh... They would also completely bail out on whatever they had planned if they got sick because they don't wanna spread it to anyone else shfjsjfhd
Wally
In the show, you're basically the villain character who has a knack for causing many of the plights/perils in each episode.
Like you could be out to sabotage Sally's plays, ruin Wally's pompadour, take a wrecking ball to Home, etc.
Your home has an underground lair with a bunch of high-tech inventions that help you carry out these "evil deeds".
Oh, and you absolutely have a villain song, too.
You can even "hijack" Wally's introductions and proclaim to the viewers that you're gonna take over the neighborhood by the end of the day.
In some episodes, you'd kidnap him and keep him hostage--only for the rest of the neighbors to come to the rescue.
It's a game that you seemingly always lose, but you find it fun!
Yet even as a villain, you have standards.
For instance, Wally was expecting you to show up and interrupt his painting session...but he sees you off in the distance going to the pharmacy with a mask on and wonders what you're up to.
It turns out you got the flu, so you wanted to forego whatever scheme you plotted until you felt better.
"You won't try...spreading your sickness to us?" He tilts his head, confused.
"....I'm a villain, Darling." You huff in a tired, stuffy voice (yes, you refer to everyone by their last name). "Not a monster."
Poppy
As the main "villain" of the show, sometimes you'll pick on Poppy for being a "big scaredy chicken" and thwart her cooking attempts.
You might discreetly add something to her food that makes it taste yucky, or remotely crank the oven 100 degrees extra so her pie turns to charcoal.
Of all the cast, she's the most intimidated by you. The others usually come to her defense.
However, one day you visit her barn, and while she freaks out at first...she notices you look rather exhausted and sickly (not to mention keeping your distance), and her motherly side still manages to come out.
"O-Oh, are you okay, dearest? You don't look well.."
"...I caught a cold. Do you..have any tea?" You ask softly.
Of course, she can't say no and turn you away. So she makes you some hot tea, which you sincerely thank her for, and you two chat for some time before heading back home without incident.
Since then, your schemes against her became just casual teasing and stealing a few of her ingredients.
Maybe you're not so bad after all, she thinks.
Frank
You like targeting Frank solely because your antics make him furious.
He acts like you don't bother him..but when you make a giant butterfly-catching contraption and abduct all the butterflies from the park? He'll be seething red and demand you to release them.
Or if you release a swarm of bees/wasps/hornets when he's trying to have a nice picnic with his fellow neighbors? He'll be shouting at you as he runs the other way.
You just grin, finding delight in pissing him off at every opportunity.
However, one day you catch a cold and decide to put a pause on your evil schemes, opting to sleep in and leave your neighbors alone.
Yet that day so-happens to be the day that Frank plans to give you an earful about your behavior, as he marches over to your house to confront you.
But since it's locked behind a high-tech security gate, the system asks him for the entry password and he keeps getting it wrong.
In the end he storms back home, but that's where you call him and explain you were sick and didn't want him getting infected.
You do admit that seeing him shouting random words at your security system made you laugh the sickness out of you, so you felt much better now--and you thank him for that.
He just grumbles a "you're welcome" and hangs up.

Hello can I ask for something? Please… How would Wally and his friends react to the human and albino reader?
(the reader is as white as snow, and he always has to go out with an umbrella so he doesn't get burned/hurt in the sun)
I did some research before writing I wasn’t ignoring you 😭
Also love this! I think it’s good. I didn’t kinda rush it I’m running off like two hours of sleep so🧍🏻also I know you referred to reader as ‘he’ but I wanted it to be gender neutral just so everyone is welcome. But you can change it if you want.
Also I think I’m going to draw this albino reader! I have an image in my head and you look adorable!!
But enjoy I hope it’s your to your expectations!
\\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////
Wally was the first to notice a new house in his neighborhood and he just had to introduce himself, maybe ask you to have a picnic with him and his friends this afternoon.
“Okay, Home! I’m off to meet our new neighbor.” Wally gets creaks and taps are a response from Home as he slips on his cardigan. “That’s nice. What do you think they look like?”
Home opened its door, responding to his questions to go find out for himself and he was off after a short goodbye.
Walking along the colorful and cheerful neighborhood he makes it to the new house. It’s beautiful but—
It’s huge! The doorknob was far from his reach, Wally wasn’t intimidated, he thought this was the coolest house he’s ever seen besides Home.
Knocking on the tall and large door he waits patiently. All of a sudden he started to feel nervous? What if their new neighbor is as tall or more taller than his best friend Barnaby? Maybe Poppy?
The click of the door gained his attention and he looked up to be blinded by breaking heavenly light.
In actuality it was only you in your comfy, flow-y clothes looking confused at the air.
Wally was mesmerized. He didn’t think a human would ever come to this neighborhood let alone someone who wasn’t colored in. You are as pale as snow. Hair pale as well. The only color he could see were your eyes and was a pink-red reflection from the slight sun that was peeking through.
Snapping out of it for a second time he greets you. “Hello, neighbor! Nice to meet you!”
You jump at the voice and look down while holding your hand to your heart in shock. You see a short puppet smiling up at you with sleepy, low lidded eyes. “Oh! I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you. It’s really nice to meet you..”
“How rude of me! I’m Wally. Wally Darling.” He smiles.
You give a smile back and hold your hand out to shake his, being careful of the light. “It’s nice to meet you, Wally. I’m Y/n.”
What a lovely name. Fits perfectly. He looks at your hand then back at you before looking back at your hand. You had five fingers, not four. How interesting.
“Um…Wally? Is everything okay?” You're getting nervous, was it something you said?
“Oh no, not at all! It’s just that,” he gets a hold of your hand gently and feels it with his other hand, feeling the smoothness and tracing the lines. “I’ve—well not to sound rude but I’ve never seen a human before, let alone one that’s white as snow. Do all of you look like this?”
You shake your head and let out a chuckle. “No. We all come in different shapes and sizes as well as different colors. The world would be boring otherwise, don’t you think?”
Wally nods, still staring at your hand before remembering something. He lets go of your hand and looks up at you. “Oh right! I came here to invite you to a picnic my friends and I are having this afternoon, care to join us?”
You frown and immediately Wally mimics it. He doesn’t like your frown, it doesn’t suit you at all. “Afternoon? While the sun is out?”
“Is that a problem? Do you not like it?”
“It’s not that-“
“Please? Everyone would love to meet you!” He insisted, giving you a pleading face that no one can resist.
And you fall victim to this adorable pleading and sigh. “Oh alright. I’ll go, just don’t look at me like that.”
“Perfect! Meet us at the hill over there, okay? We’ll be waiting for you.”
And just like that gone. Well, might as well get ready.
Back with Wally he runs back to home, calls everyone for a neighborhood meeting at Poppy’s ASAP then runs out to his little electric toy car and races off to Poppy’s.
When he got there everyone was accounted for so he didn't waste time. “Okay I have an idea to make our new neighbor feel welcome!”
“Oh! Is it a party?” A blonde puppet cheers. “Wait! You’ve met them already? No fair!”
“Oh what do they look like?” A star puppet, Sally adds in.
“You’re not gonna believe me but they're white! Like a blank canvas.” Wally reveals his eyes wide in admiration.
“White as in the color? There’s no such thing.” A gray puppet, Frank shakes his head.
Wally tilts his head. “Well, why not? You’re gray, I’m yellow, we’re all different.”
“Yes but white is translucent-“
“Well I think that’s cool!” Sally cuts in with a smile, her rays spinning with excitement.
“Sally’s right. We shouldn’t be judgmental.” The big feathered puppet, Poppy also known as the mother of the neighborhood, scolded. This gets Frank mumbling and apologizing and getting pats on the shoulder from Eddie, the neighborhood’s postman.
“Well what's your idea, Wally?”
“Oh right!”
~~~skip to later that afternoon~~~
After getting ready to put on some sunscreen, you take a hold of your big sun hat. Which is a normal sun hat but it’s just a bit wider in diameter and has a full body length mesh cover. It’s thin enough to be lightweight and wind to pass through but thick enough to block you from the sun. With a condition like yours it can be pretty painful to get sunburn.
As well as your condition, your eyesight is not the greatest but that doesn’t scare you from walking confidently around a new place. It’s more fun that way. However looking at something for too long can cause your eyes to hurt a bit so you keep them busy by looking at literally everything.
On the way to the hill you see an archway and once walking through it you find a basket on the ground. Curious, you pick it up and look around. Unbeknown to you that the group was spying on you behind the bushes.
“Oh what if they don’t like it? It will all be ruined.”
“Relax, Poppy. The cookies were delicious!”
You open the basket to find cookies and a small note. Reading ‘I hope you like the cookies I baked. Welcome to the neighborhood! —Poppy.’ That’s so sweet! But why not send them to your home? Ignoring it, you keep it and continue forward.
“They look so cool!”
“I know right and look at their hat! They look like flow-y jellyfish.”
You pass another archway and see a bag of fruits, in it, another note. ‘Welcome to the neighborhood! Let’s be friends— Howdy.’
“Should I’ve gone with snacks?”
“No, it's perfect.”
“And healthy. Ha. Ha.”
You giggle at the note, now seeing a pattern and take the bag of fruits and on the bag was a logo called ‘howdy’s place.’ You place the bag inside the basket being careful with the cookies.
Next was a headband with horns, a drawing and a sheet of colorful stickers. Another note, this one was filled with stickers. ‘Welcome to your new home! Let’s have a sleepover okay?—Julie’
“The horns are a cute touch. You guys will be matching!”
“Awe thank you Sally! Do you want one too?”
“Yes!”
“Can I have one?”
“Sure, Wally!”
Moving on after securing the crafts inside the basket you find a letter this time, with some cute mail stamps and colorful envelopes. ‘Welcome home! Hope you feel welcomed— Eddie.’
“You have more of the envelopes?”
“Sure! I’ll send some over.”
Next, there was a small whale plush, really soft! ‘Whale-come home!—Barnaby.’ You laugh at the pun and give the plushie a squeeze, now holding it in your arms.
“Nailed it!”
“Good one, bud.”
“Thank you!”
You were almost to the hill. How many more gifts are there? You don’t think you can carry all this.
As you walk the rest follow, quietly of course. Other than Wally none of them have fully seen you and your jay covering you head to toe is making them curious by the second. You then find a small box with stars all over it, opening it you find a beaded bracelet and a note. ‘Hope you like it! Welcome to the neighborhood!!—Sally.’
You’re starting to get emotional, no one has ever done this for you. With your condition, your genetics, other people didn’t like it. For whatever reason you got teased about it, you never really know why.
Wally and the gang make it to the hill before you since you crouch down to re-arrange the item to fit in the basket as well as put on the bracelet Sally gifted you. The last two surprises they needed to be at the hill.
Frank leans down to Wally and whispers his concern. “Are you sure this will work?”
Wally hums and looks up at him before looking forward, waiting on you. “I’m sure of it.”
“Hey Barnaby! Help me with the sign?” Julie asks, her and Sally holding up the welcome home sign that Wally painted as well as all their small notes and signatures. It’s a gift for you, so you could hang it and remember this moment.
Back to you, you walk up the slope as a butterfly flaps around you. Timidly, you hold your hand out and the butterfly lands on your hand. Your hat becomes visible and that was Frank's cue to send the swarm of butterflies. He’s not a butterfly whisperer but he does know a lot about them.
In awe of the thousands of butterflies a cheerful bunch of voices ring in your ears. “Welcome home!!”
Once the butterflies flap away you get a clear view of the sign and everyone under it. To say the least you were speechless, they all did this for you?
“Is this all for me? Gee, I don’t know what to say, thank you!”
“Y/n, come join us. Don’t be shy.” Wally gestures you over and into the shade. “Why are you wearing that? We can’t see you.”
“Oh, sorry! I wear this to protect myself.” You explain, walking over and sitting down next to Wally all the rest are now fully interested in you.
“Protect yourself? From what exactly?” Eddie asks.
You are worried they will tease you like the rest and after a short silence, Wally reassures you that it’s okay. Believing him you took a deep breath and took your hat off.
Wally was right. You’re white as snow. Sally and Julie thought you were ice royalty with the flow-y clothes and hat acting as your crown. Or like a jar of white glitter shaking in the sunlight.
Barnaby thinks you’re cool! Really unique and one of a kind. He wants to try on your hat so bad. Eddie, Frank and Howdy think this as well, they see you as one of a kind and they may or may not want to try out your hat as well. What? They say it’s cool looking and they can only imagine what it looks like from the inside. Can you see? Does the wind feel nice? They wanna know.
Poppy was a little more nervous. She thought you were more fragile than you actually are. You looked like a porcelain doll to her and she’s afraid she’ll break you.
What caught their eye was that you are human! They’ve never seen one up close before. Were all like this? Maybe it’s a human thing? Do all five have fingers? You don’t have a tail or floppy ears, no feathers nor horns.
“Questions.”
“Hm?”
“The hat is supposed to protect you, is it to prevent you from breaking?”
You smile at Sally’s question and hand over your hat to Barnaby since the big beagle was making grabby hands at it. “It protects me from the sun, otherwise the sun can hurt me.”
“How? The sun is warm.”
“Well as you can tell I’m really pale,” you show your arm for them to see and you almost lose it when they lean forward to get a better look. “I was born with little to no melanin, which is a pigment the body makes to give the human color, like skin, eye and hair color.”
“So you were born without it, how sad!” Poppy frown.
“The sun is just too hard on my skin and will give me painful sunburns if I’m exposed to it.” You give her a reassuring smile, touched that they care so much.
“Wouldn’t you get hurt if you’re out here?” Howdy questions, taking the hat back from Barnaby and setting it on your head. You move the long mesh back to keep your face exposed and you shake your head, gesturing to the tree you were currently sitting under.
“The tree has enough shade to cover me, although still being out here for too long can still hurt me. This hat helps a lot.”
“That’s cool you can live with us. I don’t think I can, I love the sun.” Barnaby pats your head and plays with Julie and sally. Enjoying the sun. There were enough questions for today and now they were just relaxing under the sunlight.
Wally stays with you, holding an apple with care. “Did you like your welcome gifts?”
You turn to him and hum, nodding and smiling. “I loved them. Thank you.”
More of my Cuphead au!!
I had a think think Brain blast moment and decided that I needed to think of designs for the cuphead bosses
But couldn't cause theirs nine neighbors and I'm not skilled enough to make home a boss let alone a villain because he's a silly little house
I already made a few neighbors a boss
Sally starlet as Sally stageplay (referred to as Sally starplay in this au)
Eddie dear as the devil (referred to as Eddie devil dear in this au)
And Frank as king Dice (referred to as Frank Dicey in this au)
However anyone outside of that are heros or just normal people
Julie joyful as Miss Chalice (Refered to as Miss joyful in this au)
Wally darling as Cuphead (Referred to as Wally "cup" darling in this au)
Barnaby b Beagle as Mugman (Referred to as Barnaby dogmug in this au)
Poppy partridge as elder kettle (Referred to as elder partridge in this au)
Ms beagle is also in this au as a caretaker for barnaby she's married to poppy
Howdy pillar as porkgrind haven't figured out a name or design for him yet currently under construction
(Barnaby and Wally are step siblings in this au however barnaby knows they aren't related while Wally fully believes they are brothers)
Anyways So I was left stumped for a while however I decided like any normal person would do I took some welcome home OCs and made them bosses I tried to make them still look like themselves but mixed in with a random cuphead boss
Dandy.... As Dandy carnation (btw Dandy's power's are flower related because of course)
Note: (Dandy's personality is mixed in with the boss so if I did anything wrong or misinterpreted him entirely I will happily fix it please let me know this is the first time I've ever did something like this)
Phase 1
Tumblr media
Dandy is taking the place of cangey carnation however unlike the normally evil flower dandy is an absolute sweetheart at first! they work as a gardener and occasionally sells a few flowers but when hearing that Wally (Cuphead) and barnaby (mugman) was out to get his soul then he became defensive Dandy is the first boss you face
Phase 2
Tumblr media
Dandy starts to become more serious and determined they don't necessarily wanna hurt Wally and Barnaby however they are after his soul its either him or them becoming a tad more aggressive and angry showing that he can be as much of a threat as them
Phase 3 final form
Tumblr media
In this form Dandy is very aggressive and capable of using fire! Everywhere on them is thorny and spikey they refuse to lose to Wally and Barnaby especially if his soul is on the line
I kinda based this boss of the snapdragon and chomper from plants vs zombies and of course the piranha plant from Mario
Dandy is capable of
Fire breathing only in final form
In all forms Dandy can use vines to attack along with other flowers
Growing varies plants such as trees etc
Growing thorns anywhere on his body and around him however there's a limit to how far the thorns can go at least 20 feet in front of him
And dandy has any ability that the actual cangey carnation has
Dandy can also grow and shrink his size final form is at least 10ft
Next up is Millie Valentine as Baroness Von bon bon who shall be now known as Baroness Millie Val bon bon (or baroness millie for short)
Millie with a popmodour canon!?!
Phase 1
Tumblr media
I uh kinda struggled with Millie I may make a few changes to her
Anyways the baroness may appear as a sweetheart who will share sweets with you however she's uh a little crazy to say the least due to an old curse keeping her inside of candy land she hasn't had normal human contact in years outside of her little candy people
Whenever she meets a normal person much like the baroness inside the show (cause in the game she's immediately aggressively) she will put up a mask and act sweet until you break a rule when meeting Wally and barnaby she did just that however the moment millie found out they were there for her soul that facade immediately faded and she became aggressive
Since Millie is still a work in progress I won't show her other phases
Dandy belongs to @sketchy-tour
Millie belongs to @artsybug0
Fabricated World
Tumblr media
World of paintings? Sculptures? And they’re all out to get you. Why is Wally not surprised. He knew this neighborhood is hiding more than what meets the eye, he just didn’t think that it would be all hidden by the apple of his eye.
“I don’t know how long I’ve been in that world; I was just glad I escaped that place. And that’s how I got here.” After Wally helped you get back home and within the safety of your room, you told Wally everything, from where you came from, how you got here and how you keep everything hidden away from him and the other neighbors. And Wally couldn’t help but feel bad, to know that you were carrying a heavy burden just so you could protect them from the creatures in that world. The world of Guertena, the name doesn’t ring a bell to Wally, but he’s willing to keep that name in mind just in case it becomes useful in the future.
“We don’t have much time though Wally, that lady in red could hurt somebody in the neighborhood. We need to stop it before it gets out of the forest!” When you got off your bed, Wally stood up.
“Woah, careful neighbor, you sprained your ankle. You won’t be able to protect yourself from that red lady, let alone escape it’s grasp.”
That was when you sigh at Wally’s words.
“How silly of me.” Was all you said before walking towards your closet, showing Wally a single red rose resting in a vase “I’ll be fine Wally, so long as this rose is safe and sound, no harm will come to me.”
Wally’s confused now “I’m afraid I don’t understand dear. How is your safety tied to this rose?”
And what you said will settle a vow that Wally intends to keep for the rest of his days.
“Because the rose is tied to my life.”
Wally insisted that he comes with you to help deal with the red lady, saying that he should never leave a friend in need of help. And Wally wore his concerns on his face, even after your reassurance about the rose doesn’t quell his anxiousness. If anything, it just added more to his concerns, to know how fragile your life really is. A delicate rose you really are, he likens you to an apple once, but the reveal of the thorns shows him the thorns you tried to hide but inevitably reveal itself when the secret got tired of the stuffy shadows where they hid. A delicate rose, with thorns hidden in the green stem.
“Are you sure this will work (Y/n)?” Wally asks as you adjust your hold on the painting frame. The plan was to trap the lady red in it. Sending the lady back to the fabricated world.
“Trust me Wally I’ve done this countless times.” You reassured before continuing your walk, and since you were the one holding the frame, Wally is the one to hold the flashlight that lit your pathless journey to the forest. Wally wanted to do more though, he knew he could help in ways that would reveal his own vulnerabilities, but that’s the problem, isn’t it? If he wants to help, then that would mean revealing his own secrets to you. And he’s not about to scare you away, not when he still hasn’t told you what he truly feels.
The rustle of the bush had you and Wally stopping, Wally shined the flashlight in the direction where you heard it. . .
Jackpot.
The lady in red jumped out of the bushes making you let out a small yelp, the lady is now heading towards your direction at a fast speed. That’s when Wally showed the shadows on his face, silently letting the painting know what awaits it if it ever lays a single hand on you. The painting momentarily stops its tracks when its eyes meet Wally’s gaze. His furious gaze. The painting was close enough that you managed to snatch it with the frame. And just like that the lady in red is back in the fabricated world. By the end of it, you were taking heavy breaths to try and even out your beating heart. Wally stood by your side the entire time. Helping you with whatever you need.
“Huh, that was easier than the last time.”
“Last time?”
“Uh-huh.”
If Wally wasn’t concerned already, then he rivals Poppy’s mother hen tendencies. You just admitted that you were doing this for the sun knows how long and didn’t bother asking anyone for help along the way, but Wally hasn’t commented on it yet. It’s late at night and you need your rest after such a stressful day.
“Let’s go back (Y/n). You need your sleep.”
Wally didn’t end up going back to his home though, instead he stayed by your side as you slept. The moment your head met the pillow, you were sleeping still like an unbothered tree. And Wally can’t help but feel as if this isn’t over. There’s something else afoot and he’s not getting a wink of sleep if it means he could protect his friends and you from whatever this neighborhood has to offer. There’s also a chance for Wally to do what he’s been doing for a while now, he gave a small kiss on your forehead to show his desire to bring comfort to you in this rough night.
“Sleep tight (Y/n).”
Wally expected the worst to come in the next few days, but he didn’t expect this. It all started when you invited Wally to your place in order to have a talk. It wasn’t until after you both settled on the couch seating across from each other did you say your piece.
“Move away?” Wally says in disbelief.
You looked away with sadness in your eyes “I’m sorry Wally, I just don’t think I can risk getting any of you hurt. The creatures from that world are here because of me, if I could just go back home, then all of this would be solved. You and the neighborhood could be safe. Besides. I don’t belong here anyways.”
. . .
“And what makes you say that (Y/n)? As far as I am concerned, you belong here the moment you became our neighbor.” Wally suddenly took your hands and gently held them. Grinning at the way your eyes face turned red from the reaction.
“What?” You stuttered.
“(Y/n), I know what happened to you is difficult and you’re drowning in the sea of guilt, but I’m not going to let you drown in that sea. Whatever it is you’re dealing with in the world of Guertena, we can stop it together.”
“Oh no I could never ask that of you Wally. I—”
“But I insist (Y/n), you’re a dear friend to me. Whatever I saw doesn’t change how I think of you. You’re still the friend who would help Julie create fun little games, you’re still the friend who would play fetch with Barnaby, you’re still the friend of the neighborhood. And most importantly of all. You’re still the apple of my eye.”
Wally had seen so many sunsets and flowers that made his heart soar, but those sights are nothing compared to the way your face turned bright red like an apple from Wally’s confession. Wally can guess that his face is also red. Red like the red string tied on his pinky and your own finger. And that’s proof enough to Wally that you belong in this neighborhood.
I was planning to draw a Welcome Home short comic showing how Wally and Home first met but, since I know my ADHD won't let me finish it I've decided to show y'all the scenes I wrote for it :)
"... Where am I?" Shot where you see Wally, he's in complete darkness. He doesn't look scared, he looks curious and confused.
"Hello Wally, Darling," Home says. The scene is from Wally's POV and you can only see Home's eyes in the dark.
Now he comes out of the dark and you can slightly see his silhouette, mostly his head and eyes, stiletto shoes and arms: "I was waiting to meet you."
Wally looks at him, confused. Home notices and says: "Oh, I'm awfully sorry,"
You can now see him in his full body as he emerges from the dark. "We've never officialy met me before, have we? But I've seen you..."
He gives him his hand. "My name is 'Home', nice too meet you." Wally says: "... Home? Like my home?"
"Yes, the one that protects you, takes care of you, watches over you as you sleep... That home, your home, figuratevely and literally. I'm your home, your teacher, your mother, your father, your friend or your God, whatever brings you the most comfort." This scene is from Wally's POV, so you see Home from the bottom up as he holds your hand.
Same scene, but Home tilts his head slightly: "We're in your dreams right now, it's the only place where we can meet like this, eye to eye, away from anyone's elses eyes...  You see, I can see and know everything, but they don't want that. I have to be discreet, for your sake."
Now you see them in third person, with their profile. Home is holding Wally's hand from both sides. "Everything?" Wally asks, slightly tilting his head and looking at Home curiously. "Yes, as an example I know that you feel lonely right now. You want friends, don't you?" Home asks.
Shot of Wally. He looks slightly sad, disturbed.
"Oh, you poor creature..." Home says as he puts his hand on Wally's cheek. You see them in third person again, Home slightly got down to get on Wally's level (since he's taller than him) and his head is closer, he's looking at him, but Wally is looking down. His hand is also tinted in black now.
"This must be so hard for you. I can only imagine if humans were born like this, without no warm bigger creatures to hold them, already knowing concepts, feeling things, but denied to be aware, to know where they are, what they are..." the scene is now from Home's POV. They still have their black gooey hand on Wally's cheek, who is now looking at him, looking more curious and confused than disturbed. After all, he has no idea what a human is, he doesn't know what Home is blabbering about. You can also slightly see that his cheek is tainted with its black goo.
Headshot of Home, with focus on his eyes. "But worry not, Darling. I'm here for you and soon there will be other people for you, too. Neighbours, friends... lots of them," he says to comfort him.
Third person shot again, but this time it's closer, kind of like a headshot. They're also looking directly into each other's eyes (in a creepy way, not in a romantic way). Home head is also closer and, for that, he's more bended down than before. He also still has his hand on Wally's cheek. "Do not forget though, Darling: I'm your first friend, your first neighbour. I'm the only one who you can truly trust, the one who's been there for you when you were all alone... You will remember that, right?" he asks.
Scene with focus on Wally. It's still third person, but it's way closer, kind of 3/4 view. You cannot see Home from this point of view. "Yes. I am glad to have you as a friend, Home," Wally replies as he looks at him, maybe add the reflection of Home into his eyes.
"Good to know," Home says. In this scene he turned his hand away from Wally's cheek, now you can truly see how its tainted with black goo.
Scene from Wally's POV: you're seeing Home from the bottom up again. He then speaks: "I promise you I'll take care of you, Darling, and if you listen to me enough, one day..."
"... I'll let you see," he affirms. This time the scene is from Home's POV. He's doing two sort of 'ok signs' with his hands to make them look like eyes and from his POV you can see they're outling Wally's eyes. "I'll give you my eyes: my special little gift, just for you. You will see people you've never seen before, that don't look like you, new friends that your neighbours aren't able to see. If you collaborate I'll promise we will even find a way to bring them all here, so you can have an infinite amount of friends."
Same scene, but closer. The focus is more on Wally's eyes as they're outlined by Home's hand, which is now dripping with black goo because of gravity. Wally is staring, not saying anything, but Home knows he wants this, that he's agreeing to his plan.
Now scene from Wally's POV: Home is slowly retreating back into darkness. You can see his body less as it is consumed by the dark. "I have to go now. I'll always be there, though. I can always see you... I'll talk to you too, some way, make you sure you don't feel lonely..."
Now you can only see Home's eyes in the darkness. "Goodnight, Darling."
Complete darkness.
Welcome Home [Cult of The Lamb A.u]
Tw: character trauma, Hospital
almost out of the prolouge at last thank you all so far for your support im haveing a lot of fun writeing this and exsploring more and more with this au in my own way!
.
.
.
Prologue [Part 1][Part 2][Part 3]Part 4]
Wally's eyes fluttered open, slowly taking in the unfamiliar surroundings of the hospital room. Confusion swept over him as he attempted to move, instinctively trying to sit up. His efforts triggered one of the monitors to beep loudly, instantly drawing the attention of both Poppy and Barnaby, who were engaged in a hushed conversation in the vestibule.
Thoth, hidden behind the privacy curtain, watched Wally's awakening nervously. A rush of thoughts and fears flooded their mind. “Oh, looks like he's awake... I wonder how bad off he really is?... Wait... if they were the other person near the train?... Was this the blue-haired person I saw through the window? Oh gods! Is this the person that made the master look like that?”
Panic seized Thoth momentarily, and they covered their mouth to stifle any unintentional sound.
“Even if I was rooting for them earlier, who's to say this person isn't worse than Milan?”
Wally, still dazed and disoriented, managed to utter a soft, trembling whisper. "P-Princeton...?" His attempt to sit up caused further alarm as it set off the monitor's beeping.
Poppy hurried to Wally's side, concern etched across her features.
  "Wally!? Oh my, it's much too early for you to be getting up, let alone sitting up!"
With gentle but firm hands, she guided him back into the bed. Wally began to protest but then noticed the bandages and the state of his injuries, causing his shoulders to slump, and tears welled up in his eyes.
Barnaby, showing a reassuring presence, joined Poppy in helping Wally settle back into the bed. "It wasn't a nightmare," Wally whispered, his voice quivering. "He's... he's really gone... It's all my fault..."
Barnaby tried to soothe his friend's troubled thoughts.
 "Walls, hey, hey now. Let's not talk like the train had a malfunction, it's... its wiring or whatnot. It's okay..."
Poppy, sensing the emotional weight of the moment, gently inquired
"Did you find who you were looking for? They... they say only two survivors were found – you and one other." She cast a glance toward the privacy curtain, wondering if Thoth was comfortable with her pulling it back or if they would prefer to remain concealed for now.
Thoth, still hidden behind the curtain, responded to Poppy's inquisitive gaze with a small nod, indicating that it was indeed okay to pull back the privacy curtain and reveal his presence.
Poppy gently eased the curtain aside, allowing Thoth to become visible in the room. Thoth's heart ached as they observed Wally's broken and defeated expression.
“...I thought that was a nightmare too?... The voice did say we got wrapped up into this... But... I should play this carefully... Who knows what the punishment for stealing a holy item might be here... Maybe I can ask him about what exactly happened later…’
 Thoth's thoughts raced, but as they saw Wally's desolation, their empathy overcame their fear. “...Or not... Poor thing…”
With a soft and sincere tone, Thoth offered an apology. "I'm so sorry," Thoth said, looking down and feeling a weight of responsibility, even if they weren't entirely sure of their involvement. "What was your friend's name?"
Wally's response was filled with regret and guilt.
 "Princeton... Princeton Kingly.... I should be apologizing to you... I'm probably the cause of your pain..."
His eyes then fell upon Thoth, and he seemed to recognize something in the figure before him.
"The kind Rabbit Lady... No, you're smaller... Related maybe... I'm so sorry..."
Wally's heart monitor showed a slight increase in activity as he panicked, fearing that he might have caused Thoth's separation or even worse, their demise in the blast he believed he caused. "I'm so sorry..." he repeated, his voice trembling with remorse. Thoth's curiosity persisted, but they paused mid-sentence, their gaze shifting to Poppy and Barnaby as if a sudden realization struck them. They decided to tread carefully and cautiously posed their question to Wally.
"…Why are you sorry? It's not like you caused—" Thoth's voice trailed off, leaving the thought hanging.
Wally's response about Milan's absence left Thoth puzzled and somewhat concerned. "I'm not sure. I can't remember, but I know they're not here... I made sure they couldn't get here." As Wally's medication beeped and began administering, he gradually drifted back to sleep, his heart rate returning to a calmer state.
Barnaby and Poppy exchanged uncertain glances before Poppy gently inquired
"Do you know where Wally and this Princeton were?"
Thoth looked at Wally with a mix of concern and confusion. “Made sure?...” Thoth thought to themselves considering the implications but decided to withhold further questions for now.
"I'm not... exactly sure," Thoth replied hesitantly, giving Puppy a guilty look as tears welled up in their eyes. "I'm not sure if you'll believe me..." Thoth's monitor started to pick up as their anxiety and worries intensified.
Poppy tried to reassure Thoth, her voice gentle and calming. "That's alright. You don't need to say more until you're ready. It's okay." She hoped to ease their mind and alleviate some of the distress Thoth was clearly experiencing.
Thoth wiped their face, still visibly shaken. "I'm sorry... I... I don't know them... not well... I only saw them from afar." Thoth hesitated, choosing their words carefully. "P-Princeton?... Is he a lamb?... I only saw him briefly before... the fall—crash." They paused again, their gaze averted. "I'm not sure where they went... um... everything else is a little fuzzy..." Thoth's response was cautious, omitting certain details they believed could put them in danger.
Poppy furrowed her brows, a hint of confusion in her voice.
"I can't say I recognize the name or that person... Barnaby?"
she questioned.
Barnaby, sitting across from her, paused for a moment, his brow furrowing as he pondered the query. He tried to recall if his dear friend Wally had ever mentioned such a name. "Nope," he finally replied, "not that Wally has ever told me about. But maybe... I think I've seen a photo of a lamb hanging out with Wally in an old high school picture he keeps in his room. Old friends from a time before Wally and I met back up."
Thoth, another friend seated nearby, leaned forward, their voice tinged with nervousness.
"I see... and, um, do they know a man? With bandages covering their face and golden yellow eyes?" Thoth's gaze shifted momentarily to Wally, who peacefully slumbered nearby. "And a... crown?"
Both Poppy and Barnaby exchanged puzzled glances, their minds drawing blanks as they shook their heads in unison.
Poppy spoke up, her tone resolute, "Most definitely not that I can think of. Sounds like they would be someone we couldn't forget..."
Thoth, despite their initial nervousness, chuckled lightly, attempting to alleviate the tension. "Hahaha... right, yeah... maybe that was just a bad dream... um... so..." They looked between Poppy and Barnaby with uncertainty.
Poppy turned to Barnaby, a concerned look in her eyes. "Um... Barnaby, we should probably let these two rest," she suggested, her gaze briefly flickering towards the still-sleeping Wally.
Barnaby, however, remained steadfast and protective.
"Oh heck no! You think I'm leaving my little buddy's side now? You've got another thing coming, tail feathers." He crossed his arms with determination. "I ain't movin', and you can't make me." With those words, he settled into a chair in the corner of the room, standing guard.
I’m back with an update for the fuck you apartment complex welcome home au!
Here are the colored in versions of Norbert, Steven, and Philip
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As well as Roberto and Crayon! (Frank and Julie)
Tumblr media
Bango (Poppy) and Balloon (Barnaby) are in the works right now as well as the apartment building (i don’t have a name for it rn lol)
I don’t think I’ve said what the plot of this au is yet.
The idea is that Norbert Walmart (Wally) was looking for a place to stay with his bestie, Balloon (Barnaby) when he came across an apartment building. It caught his eye cause of how it looked- yet there wasn’t anything that would make the place stand out. Norbert decided to make his home there and dragged Balloon there with him, despite Balloon not wanting to go. (He was bribed with tuna lmao)
After Norbert and Balloon had settled in, Norbert could feel a presence in the building. He ignored it at first, but after awhile he couldn’t ignore it anymore. He’d search for whatever it was, but could never find anything. He would never hear a voice, a noise or anything for the first few months of being there. Balloon didn’t hear anything either. Norbert would find things on the floor of his room and blame Balloon for them. Balloon would claim it wasn’t him, and after looking at the security cameras, as shitty as they were, it was the shelf’s themselves moving and dropping the items on the ground.
The fucking apartment complex is haunted.
Great
After this discovery, it seems like no matter what he does this stupid place won’t leave him alone. He along with Balloon both tell each other they feel drained and exhausted and try to leave, but as soon as they step towards the exit, both stop dead in their tracks. Neither can move for a minute before the floor tiles they were standing on physically moves them back into the room towards the elevators. Both freaked out obviously, but they didn’t try to leave again for awhile.
Then seemingly out of the blue Norbert gets shoved out of the building by air and the doors lock behind him. He tries to get back in, but the doors aren’t budging. Balloon’s not paying attention and is probably asleep somewhere.
A voice Norbert has never heard before starts speaking to him. He jumps and turned around to see who it was, but there was no one. The voice told him to go get others and bring them back. He wouldn’t be allowed back in until he brought someone else back to stay there with him and Balloon.
So that he did. He recruited the others one by one, except for Roberto and Crayon. After the last of them was brought in, the building let Norbert stay like he did before.
At first everyone was chill and got to know each other, but because the walls are so thin they can hear everything going on in each others rooms. They all start to grow bitter towards each other, and the voice Norbert hears seems to be getting louder and louder in his head.
#welcome home au #fuck off apartment complex au #its been a hot minute since I updated #lmao my bad #i’ll try to update this when I can but no promises
Hello! I have come asking for you to info-dump about the the modern human au. I full of brain rot of them (especially after the last thing you posted about them, damn) Maybe you can tell us a bit more Sally!!
lucky for you, i've been full of that good ol brainrot As Well! thoughts! feelings! ideas! i got em!
so since we're already on the subject of the Crash Arc, allow me to expand on it for a moment before i get to Sally Thinkings! if you've read the snippet, you may have noticed the extent of Wally's injuries was not listed yet. well! he got messed up with a capital F! since it's fiction and i'm god in this scenario, i'm veering slightly away from realistic damage, immediate & lasting. bc lets be real. if i stuck to "this is as realistic as i can make it", then Wally would be aaaaaabsolutely fucked. it was a bad crash in a very unsafe vehicle at high speeds. like - this is what happened. a drunk driver hit Home going 70 down the freeway. swerve, fishtail, tumble down a (small, shallow, really its more like a glorified ditch) ravine with trees and rocks and shit on it. absolute miracle that Wally didn't die in the crash, let alone during the solid half hour (slightly longer) he was trapped in Home before someone noticed the crash site and called emergency personnel. Wally "hanging up" on Barnaby was actually the impact jarring him so he slipped and hit the end call button. but yeah without going into technicalities and detail, Wally has some lasting damage in his dominant hand. It takes extensive physical therapy for him to be able to paint/draw again at the same level he had been at. the hematoma hadn't done a lot of brain damage that wouldn't resolve itself with time. in my mind, when Wally wakes up in the hospital, for a few days he's very confused and his memory is shot. he'll wake up, interact, then go to sleep, but when he wakes up again its like waking up for the first time again. he just can't retain memories for a bit. he's got some severe brain fog. his mood is also kinda fucked with - he's uncharacteristically irritable with low patience, etc. these are all things that clear up with time, but in my mind Wally has chronic migraines going forward. bad ones! and there are days where it's harder fr him to concentrate. and yk. a teeny bit of chronic pain where his shin bone was pinned back together and where his hand was essentially crushed. but other than that he's fine going forward! good days and bad days!
but enough about that! You Want To Hear About Sally!
i imagine that she becomes quite successful in the theater industry. i'm not too familiar with it myself, so i'm gonna be uh. Vague about it? but she starts her own theater troupe - it's a bit of a commute from home base to the town she works in, where the theater is located in, but she makes it work! of the group, she's probably away more than any of them. working on shows, traveling to work on other ones - i like to think she's been on Broadway! she probably has had opportunities to do tv/movie acting, but idk... i feel like Sally would be like "nah. live shows or nothing". maybe at some point she takes up voice acting gigs, as long as she can do them from home. she probably has her own little room-turned-VA-studio thing. idk how that works either! it seems right! but yes Howdy's store's automated messages and advertisements are in Sally's voice. she's probably picked up a temporarily modeling gig here and there.
so Sally is very very busy. Poppy is supportive. everyone is, and they all love to help out when they can - and reel Sally in when the "stardom" starts to get to her head. they do their best to acclimate to occasionally getting jumpscared by her voice in a grocery store or in. idk. fashion shoots. victoria's secret billboards. that last one was a joke! maybe. i think she would.
i also like to imagine Sally like... getting some sort of award and then spending a solid five minutes naming her friends, thanking them with specificity, and then plugging their own stuff. they probably have a rotation for who accompanies her as her plus one for events and parties she may or may not be invited to. she's not like... a Big celebrity but! she's Known and Liked! she has Connections! i like to imagine her and Wally looking dapper as fuck at a Venue...
so the friend group typically stays together, with Sally going off to do her Things the most. she makes sure to schedule time to be with her friends and girlfriend/wife/Poppy between work and gigs and etc. she somehow finds a balance with Ease. or apparent ease... someone get this girl a vacation...
Cottage Hills : A Winter Tale, Part VIII
A Drunken Meltdown
Every so often, Duke shows up at the inn and ends up completely drunk, lamenting loudly about his lost youth, his faded looks, and just about everything in in between. Last winter was one such episode, and probably the worst. He showed up and ordered his usual, and things only escalated from there.
Tumblr media
One Year Ago...
Duke :
"Give me the usual, Doug."
Doug:
"Mmhmm. Is this going to be another one of those nights, Duke?"
Duke :
"Oh come on, Doug, just give a man his drink. You're starting to sound like my wife!"
Doug :
"Sigh, alright, but take it easy this time."
Despite Doug's warnings, Duke did not take it easy. After several drinks, he begins stumbling around, muttering to himself and scaring customers away.
Duke:
"Where has my life gone... I'm STill the mOsT handsome man in tOwN! Don't YoU forget it! My life.... It's a joke...Its all A JokE!!"
Tumblr media
As the night goes on, Doug and Wally try to get him to leave, with Wally offering to send him home but Duke starts yelling to be left alone, and sits on the floor, crying bitterly. No one is sure what to do, so eventually, Harris is called to come step in.
Tumblr media
Harris :
"Come on Duke, get up, let's get you home."
Duke :
"I'm not GoInG anywhere WitH... you.... Harris..."
Harris:
"Sigh... Duke....don't make things difficult for yourself. Let me take you home."
Tumblr media
Duke gets up and stares at Harris for a long time. A heavy silence hangs in the air. Duke wobbles but keeps his eyes fixed on Harris.
Tumblr media
Duke:
"You... It's your fault she's gone, Harris! If you had married her sooner.... She wouldn't have been there that night!"
Harris:
"Yes... it is my fault. Its always my fault, isn't it? Do you think I like seeing you this way? Sigh, never mind. Look, are you going to come with me or not, Duke. You're creating a scene here."
Tumblr media
Duke:
"A scene!?! Yes this is a scene in a play... Are YOu WaTchinG?? OH AJA!!!!! MY POOR LITTLE AJA!! FORGIVE ME AJA!"
Everyone is stunned. Its the first time they've heard him say his daughter, Aja's name for a while since she disappeared 15 years ago. Harris freezes and his eyes glaze over at the mere mention of her name.
Duke :
"YOU DID THIS!! I'LL KILL YOU HARRIS!!"
Duke lunges forward to try and grab Harris. Harris, still in a bit of a daze, is taken aback. But Wally steps forward wth a glass of cold water, and splashes Duke in the face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The water seems to help, and Duke, blinking and spluttering, is stunned for a few seconds, which gave Harris enough time to get him out of the inn and into his car to be sent home, where he's greeted by a furious and exasperated Manna.
Tumblr media
It's been a year since then, and Greg walks over to the inn's bar, where his friend Duke has been sleeping, passed out after yet another night of drinking. At least he kept to himself this time and just fell asleep. Greg sighs as he makes his way over.
OLD WOUNDS PT. TWO
Summary: Dick’s words broke you more than a bullet ever could, it was time to fix that once and for all. No matter the outcome.
Warning: angst, some swears
A/N: Part two babyyyyy. Wasn’t planning on this but I’m glad that I did!
Word count: 3.5k
GIF not mine
Part one
Tumblr media
It took weeks for your bullet wound to heal. Weeks of not being able to go out on the streets, weeks of being stuck at home, and weeks with nothing to do except for think about the words that Dick Grayson lashed out to you.
You knew that he was being honest about what he was thinking. Dick never yelled at you unless there was a reason and this one was loud and clear. Dick hated you. He hated you for leaving everyone behind without a second thought. He hated you for abandoning the people that you once called family.
And he was right to do so. You left for your own benefit and didn't think about anyone else while doing so. It was selfish of you, and you regretted it. Of course you did, leaving them left you with no one. You had been alone for years. You didn't want the pain of Jason and Wally's deaths leaning on you, or anyone else that you couldn't save.
Those weeks had left you in a mess. Sleepless nights of wondering how different things would be if you hadn't left. Stressing over whether or not you should ever show your face outside of your apartment again. Most of all, you felt the kind of sadness in your chest that never truly went away.
Dick's words hurt more than the bullet he took out of you.
It was what you needed to hear. You needed to know that you hurt so many people because of your actions. The pain that he cracked against you like a whip stung deep, but the true pain came from knowing that everything was your fault. You took his happiness, and you ruined him for years.
Babs, Kori, they were better than you, they always had been. Morally, skillfully, they always won against you and yet Dick wasn't happy with either of them. He was happy with you and you broke him in return.
By the time that your wound had healed, you needed to get out of your home. You needed the fresh air, the harsh punches against criminals. That was the night that you wouldn't mind if a thug got the upper hand on you.
You had left Gotham the moment you left the Wayne Manor. It wasn't fair of you to stick around after already causing so much pain. Home was only a few cities over, you could never bring yourself to veer too far off.
It felt refreshing to leap from roof top to roof top. The crisp cold air woke you up out of the sluggish state you had been in. This was what you lived for, fighting crime and bringing peace to the people. It was too bad that you could never bring peace with your friends, if they dared to call you that anymore.
That night, you had taken down a few people. An idiotic thief, a pickpocketer, a group of men who were getting a too handsy with an innocent woman. The moment you jumped from the roof you knew that you were way outnumbered. There were too many men at once and you were stuck right in the middle of it all.
It was what you felt like you deserved. More punches than you normally would receive, but not enough that you couldn't take these bastards down. By the time the last one fell to the ground, blood dripped down your cheek and your lips. You spit out a mix of saliva and blood and stormed away from the scene.
The rest of the night was quiet, and quiet was what you were trying to avoid. It wasn't until you passed by your old hideout did you finally stop. It was well abandoned now, you hadn't been there since leaving the team. With a sigh, you headed over to the building. The access code was still the same - Dick's birthday.
Dust covered all the computers but nothing had been changed. You spent a lot of hours in that room. Between you and Dick, it was easy to clock in over thirty hours a week there. You spent a lot of time with him there and being inside only brought back memories that you were trying to diminish, not resurface.
However, you pushed on. You flipped the lights on in the room, looking around at everything that you once had. Dick was right, this was your fault. Everything that happened was because you weren't strong enough to be there.
You fingers trailed over the desks and you walked towards the Zeta Tube Bruce allowed you to have. It made it a hell of a lot easier to get to the mountain or the watchtower rather than going all the way over to Gotham. The machine whirred to life, and with a moments of hesitance, you typed in where you wanted to go.
The likeliness that they kept your name in the roster was slim, and you were sure that it wasn't even going to work. However, when you were beamed out of the room and to the Watchtower, you were more surprised than anything. The robotic voice spent chills down your spine as you arrived.
The Watchtower looked the same as it always had. Cold, empty, never home. Mount Justice had been your home for many years when you finally settled from going from mentor to mentor. The team was the first time that you ever felt like you had a stable life. Leaving it and having to come all the way up there? It never felt right.
You didn't realize you were walking towards the large window that overlooked Earth. A smile made its way to your face as you thought about the amount of times that you and Dick would watch from above. You spent hours with him up there, watching, talking, simply loving him and everything there was to him.
Fuck, did you miss him.
The loss of him hadn't hurt you this badly in so long. Seeing him again destroyed you just as much as him. You hadn't realized how much you missed having him by your side, whether it was fighting crime or in bed. You needed him in your life and it had been years since you had him.
"It's been a long time."
"Bruce," you acknowledged. You hadn't heard him come up behind you but you knew the sound of his voice. "I'm surprised you didn't cut off my access. Not very Batman of you."
"It was Tim that insisted," Bruce finally stood by your side. You could hear the underline in his voice though: Tim, not Dick. Tim always looked up to you when he had the mantle of Robin. He copied your fighting style in many ways and had a similar thought process to yours. You didn't know how he felt after you left.
Tim and Dick were as close as any non-blood related brother could be. During missions, Dick relied on Tim to be the leader of the group, he knew that he could handle things when things got tough. You both did. Tim was just another poor soul that you crushed upon your leaving.
"I take it you healed just fine?" Bruce continued upon your silence. You managed to avoid him, and anyone else in the Manor as you left that night. You weren't surprised that he had still managed to find out about your brief visit.
"Physically, you bet," you nodded. This time, Bruce picked up on your tone - Dick had laid a new one on you. He didn't know what conversation went on between the two of you but Dick had been on edge and snappy ever since you left. "Thank you, for saving me. I owe you one - I owe you lots."
"You could come back," Bruce looked over at you. His lips were in a tight line and his eyes couldn't be seen beneath his cowl. The long black cape draped his shoulders and you couldn't help but wish that you too had a cape to hide within. "We could use you on the team, either team."
"It's been years, Bruce," you sighed. I'm not welcome back, was more like it. You felt traitorous to even show up there, you couldn't consider rejoining the team. When the pain of your friends deaths started to dim, you dared showed your face there again? No, that wouldn't fly with half the members of the team. Dick wouldn't allow it.
You couldn't put him through that. He could barely meet your eyes, how did you ever expect that he would trust you again on a mission? Or trust you to have his or anyone else's back? No, your spot on the team was long gone, you didn't deserve it anymore.
"I'm not the same person that I used to be," you continued. Bruce looked at your bloody, bruised face. Beneath your mask, he could see the outline of fresh purple bruises. A small cut dragged across your cheek and although you tried to wipe the blood from your busted lip, some of it was still smeared around your mouth. In all the years that he knew you, you would never allow someone to get that many face hits - this was on purpose.
It wasn't just the beaten face you referred to. It was the aggression. Your tactics became more violent, less with the law. It was hard to maintain a sense of justice when justice killed your friends. Doing the right thing didn't always get your somewhere in life, it got you killed.
Even your suit had changed. Oliver had designed your original one. It was form fitting, covered any exposed skin and protected your from the harms of your world. Now, you showed off a dangerous amount of skin, not caring what could happen to you.
"Dick has gone through too much in his life, I can't put him through this," you pulled your mask off with a sigh. You eyes that once shone bright at the sight below you were now cold and sharp. Bruce could see the exhaustion on your face and how much being back here was tearing you apart.
"I did a lot of bad things in my life but leaving him was the worst thing I could have done. Doing things right by him isn't me joining the team again, it's me leaving, for good. I'm not coming back Bruce, ever," You fished out the device that he had given you and handed it over to him. He never made a move to grab it. "I can't keep causing pain in other peoples lives just to try and lessen my own pain. Leaving for good might just solve that."
Bruce reached into his belt to pull out a small velvet box. He handed it over to you and with confusion in your eyes, you grabbed it. Inside was a ring, an engagement ring.
"Weeks before Jason died, Dick was going to give this to you," Bruce told you. Tears stung your eyes and your throat tightened up. It had been just over three years that the two of you were dating before Jason died. "He wanted Jason to be one of his groomsmen., Wally to be his best man."
"Why are you telling me this?" You didn't want to hear about how you ruined his plans for his future. You didn't want to know that Dick loved you enough that he wanted to marry you. The reality of how much you hurt him amplified.
"Running from your problems was what caused this in the first place," Bruce didn't accept the ring or the beacon as you tried to hand both back to him. "Dick and I don't always see eye to eye on things, but we both knew that you were good for him."
Bruce said nothing else to you. He glanced down at the items in your hand once more before leaving. The velvet box in your hand seemed to be burning a hole into it. The idea of marrying Dick would once excite you, bring you joy about your future with him because at one point he was your future. Now? Now all you could feeling was the unwelcoming pain of shame.
"Fuck," you muttered. You crouched down, the ring box pressed to your forehead as you tried to decipher your thoughts. Dick was the love of your life all those years ago and you truly fucked that up. No greater mistake could have been made on your behalf. "Fuck."
Why hadn't you just stayed? Why did you have to make the unwise choice of leaving for your own benefit? To pull yourself away from the people that you cared about so that if they ever got hurt you wouldn't have to feel heartbreak? Where did that get you? At home, miserable because you had no one. Miserable because you knew that just as much as you missed your friends, they missed you more.
All this time you thought that you left to avoid the pain, but being back here? That hurt you more than all those years away. The reminder that you once had people that would trust you with their life, that wanted to spent their life with you. Now, you had no one. No one would be willing to take a misfit like you back into their life, not after they had just gotten back to where they were before you left.
Maybe it would have been easier to not have pressed that beacon. Maybe it would have been easier to let those men take you. Whatever pain that they would have inflicted upon you had to have hurt less than what you were feeling now. Emotional pain never went away, physical wounds healed.
You wanted to apologize to Dick. You wanted to tell him how you really felt about these past years but you knew he wouldn't stay long enough to hear you out. Hell, you didn't even have a way of contacting him. The device in your hand suddenly felt heavy. You had one way of getting him to come to you.
"Fuck," you repeated one last time. With the ring weighing you down in the other hand, you pressed the button. Who knows if he would even come but you needed to see him once more. If he truly wanted you out of his life, you would heed to his words - trying to force your way back in wasn't going to be fair to him.
You stood there and waited. The Earth below you was cascaded with darkness as the sun had been on the other side. Darkness of the world seemed to be no less dark than you.
Your heart raced as you heard the animated voice - someone was arriving in the zeta tube. You stood there, still facing the large window that cast into space. Being all the way up here made everything down there feel impossible irrelevant. All the problems that you had within the planet seemed to disappear.
"Why are you here?"
Dick. You turned to face him, unsure of what you wanted to say. There were so many things racing through your head and none of them seemed good enough to even sightly make up for what you did. Nothing you could say would ever make up for it, but you hoped that maybe Bruce was right, maybe there was hope for redemption.
The anger that was on his face fell to one of worry as he saw the state of your face. The bruises that covered your jaw, cheeks, and the blood that had dried up on your skin. No matter how angry he ever was at you, even when you were still here, he was always concerned with your safety first.
"What happened?" He changed his statement. Dick stood at your side, his hand reaching up to look over what was wrong. No matter how tender his touch was, you couldn't help but flinch away. You didn't deserve his comfort. Dick's hand dropped back down to his side.
"Nothing I didn't deserve," you assured. He was in his civilian clothes, but he looked tired. Bags were under his eyes, his shoulders drooped while his hands were in his pockets. "I know you don't want to see me, but I wanted to talk with you."
"I'm here," Dick surmised. That was enough to tell you that though he didn't want to be there, he would listen to what you had to say. However, his gaze went from your face down to your hands, he recognized the small box in your hand. "Where did you get that?"
His voice became harsh. So harsh that you winced and cowered back. Wish shaky hands, you handed him the ring. "Bruce," you answered. "Dick I could apologize to you a thousand times and it would never be enough to make up for what I did, I know that. I could announce to the whole world that I'm a fuck up and that I deserve to be frowned upon and that wouldn't come close to enough.
"Fuck, I know that there is nothing in this world that can make up for my mistakes. What I did, to you, the rest of the team, it was awful of me. I know that. I shouldn't have left but you were right: I am weak. I was too weak to face my fears so I ran. If I would have known better, I should have ran to you instead of away, but I didn't.
"It's too late to change things, to change what I did. I just hope that one day that you won't have to look at me with that same anger in your eyes that you have right now." You played with the small velvet box between your fingers. With a sigh, you handed it back over to him. "You deserve a happy life Dick, and after all of this, the life shouldn't have to include me."
Dick grabbed the ring from you. "I bought this less than a year after we started dating," Dick finally spoke after a long moment of silence. You couldn't tell what he was thinking. "I knew I wanted to marry you. After being friends for so long, I couldn't picture myself with anyone else. You were always the one."
"I'm sorry I ruined that," you sighed. You looked down at the mask that you held in your hands. It was the one that Dick got you when you first joined the team. Even if your costume changed, you couldn't bare to part with it. Reluctantly, you handed that over to him as well. He smiled a little as he held it.
"I came to say goodbye, Dick," his gaze abruptly shifted from the mask, to your bruised eyes. "I put you through too much in this lifetime, I can't keep doing this to you. I figured after all this time, a proper goodbye would do us good. I understand that you don't want me here anymore, I understand no one does."
"I never said that," Dick cut you off. "I never said I didn't want you here. It wasn't fair of me to blow up at you the other night, I'm sorry for being so reactive but I'm not sorry for what I said. You left us, you ran away, but if you truly want to make things right, then you need to stop running.
"You want to make up for everything that you've done? You work your ass off here, on this team. You lead the kids to make the right choices and not to make the same mistakes that you did. That's how you earn my forgiveness, that's how you make things right with the team, with your friends."
Your head hung low. "If you want me to stay, I'll stay. If you want me to leave, I'll leave. Whatever choice you make, I promise you with my life that I will stick with it."
There was another silence between you. Dick's gaze turned away from you and towards the window. "We spent a lot of hours here, looking down at the world that we give our lives to protect. Couldn't bring myself to spend a lot of time here after you left," He honestly told you. Dick handed your mask back to you. "I'm tired of seeing you walk away."
"Then I won't. Ever again," You grabbed your mask from his hand. The same calloused hands that would cup your face when you were feeling scared, the ones that would grab your own hands when you needed comfort, the ones that fought against so many people to protect you.
"Dick, I-" you cut yourself off with a staggered breath. You wanted to tell him so many things: I love you, I never stopped missing you, I want to be yours again. You couldn't. If Dick ever wanted you back again, it would have to be on his terms, not your own. You didn't even know if he ever wanted that.
It didn't matter though. You would live a lifetime in pain just to make him happy for even a second.
"I'm glad to be back."
Wally not going home is so sad, but I don’t know I think it also...would be bittersweet in a way, because he actively choses a hard choice (not ripping apart the multiverse for his own wants and needs, devoting himself to his adopted earth, wanting to be there for his other friends who need him) but I think if he got a chance to say goodbye, he would take it. But going back to being what he was? He can’t even imagine that, his dream of being “normal” died a very long time ago.
I love jl/jlu Wally, he’s such a good character, set the bar too high for Wally portrayals even if he’s not Perfect. The Jl/jlu original seven are so cute, they actually remind me season one team in a way. It would be so intresting to see yj Wally reflect that his friends are the alternate versions of the people he grew up admiring and viewing as some type of unattainable level of strength and heroics but now he’s here and now they are his friends, they go on team building camping trips (there is a tie-in comic about this!) and talk like gossiping hens, flash self admits he views sheyera like the sister he never had, and John a extremely close friend, he can talk back to Clark and Bruce because he’s their FRIEND AND COWORKER and years ago he never dream of it. It’s not even him being obsessed with the glory or respect; not really, he feels fulfillment in this job, in his relationships, his success of his job...he likes feeling USEFULL. No shadow to fill here, people don’t forget his names anymore. (Also imagine him with scars from where he was zapped by the reach’s energy beams and those scars are all he has left to tell him his other life was real and he lived it)
I will die mad they made Wally and Artemis quit just...cuz? In young justice when the drama option of him having problems with his heart due to his powers was RIGHT THERE being the better option and much more painful. He loved being a hero, but he “wasn’t good enough” and he could easily be bitter about that especially when all his friends are doing the job he loves, risking their lives and he can’t help, they worry for HIM a of all things which makes him feel even more useless, and when he choses to “die” helping the reach, at least he did it on his TERMS. I still think I’m this AU, the speed force would fix that issue but with the price of him being forced to leave everytuing he knew and was but he has better powers, as a catch 22)
So sorry for the second long post, I know it’s probably annoying.
NO NO ITS OKAY I LOVE IT. yeah Wally quitting just made zero sense to me? I mean, this is a kid who gave himself superpowers! they changed his origin up to make him even more enthusiastic about being a hero and then they just... made him give up. and I’m so sad about that. I choose not to think about it.
anyways like... it’s so fucking funny, Wally working alongside the trinity and Martian Manhunter in particular in the JLU world bc like, you know there’s a little voice in his head going “so what did happen to uncle barry in this world?” and he’s like “why’s John the lantern on earth? where’s Hal? This is so different” and a little part of him is like “oh my gosh I’m founding the justice league! holy crap I’m the flash!!!” but also like. imagine being wally and looking batman in the eyes knowing he thinks you know nothing about him meanwhile you’re best friends with dick grayson back home and you know every little bit of blackmail dick has on the man. which is a lot. Wally goes to the manor and calls alfred Jeeves bc it’s an inside joke between them on Wally’s earth, but not here! The fucking dinosaur thing! I’m obsessed.
I’m also obsessed with the jlu Wally just straight up being from that universe like normal in the show but like as in he was kid flash until like a month before the show starts and then barry died and he took over as the flash but I’m not gonna talk about it bc I literally have a bunch of fics written about that yeah this is a shameless plug leave me alone
Man, you are really something else
On Friday nights, Iris spends time alone. She lives in a relatively small apartment near Central City U’s campus where she makes peanuts as a teaching assistant while she completes her journalism master’s. Her weeks are long and arduous, what with attending her own classes and all but teaching the ones she assists. Her evenings are often spent eating turkey sandwiches with one hand and completing assignments with the other. And when those are done, she logs into her blog, What a Life You’ve Lived, and types up the stories people send to her. That part doesn’t make her tired; no, she likes being able to tell others’ stories, likes that they trust a woman they’ve never seen to tell their lives in a way that they might not ever see.
But it’s still why, on Friday nights, she pours herself an overfull glass of wine, fills a pipe bowl with some of the marijuana she gets from the dispensary by Linda’s place, and orders Thai food while she watches something from her Netflix or Hulu queue or sometimes she listens to music. She’s already showered, wearing a pair of green silk shorts and a matching tank top, pretty cream piping along the top of the tank and the hem of the shorts—she doesn't always dress like this when she’s home alone; she just likes the feeling of the silk on her skin when she’s high—and her hair is already wrapped and tied with her scarf when the doorbell rings. She frowns at the door because she’s only just ordered her pad Thai noodles and those spring rolls she likes, and there’s no way the delivery is there yet because she always sets the order for when she’s sufficiently intoxicated.
She figures that it could be her brother Wally or even Linda because they’ve both been known to drop by without calling. A touch annoyed, she goes to the door and swings it open, ready to go off for interrupting what they know is her self-care night. But then she’s stopped short, the music still playing in the background—you caught me at an awful time; see i just lost my smile—because it’s him.
Iris’s liquor-soaked memories don’t do him much justice because there he is, live and solid. He is tall, even taller than she’d thought as she stands in her bare feet. He’s lean, the dark jeans hanging off his hips and his plain gray shirt showing off the corded muscles in his arms. There’s a tattoo sleeve on his right forearm, a complicated bouquet of flowers that doesn't take away from the masculine energy he exudes standing at her door, his hands stuffed in his pockets. She can tell now that his hair is brown and a little bit messy, as if he constantly runs his hands through it. She does a quick scan of the rest of him: dark moles dotting the skin of his throat, thin pink mouth, the hint of a 5 o’clock shadow covering the cut of his jaw. It’s still his eyes, though, that gets her. It’s not only the color of them—somehow blue with hints of moss and gold or maybe they’re like moss with hints of gold and gray—but it’s the way he’s looking at her too. Like they're always searching, and that is what you helped me find; hadn't seen it in a while, looking for what she won't reveal.
She knows that her night set only just covers the swell of her ass and dips down in her cleavage. She knows that she’s scrubbed head to toe in her rosewater body butter. But he, he looks at her like he knows it too. Like he sees all of the tawny brown skin she’s not showing, like he’s seeing something, something more than the wide set of her full mouth and the whiskey chocolate of her eyes.
“Hey,” he speaks, and there’s nothing particularly memorable about his voice, but the tone of it is low, and it sends an involuntary shiver through her.
“I know this is weird,” he continues, “and you can definitely tell me to leave. But I didn’t have your number or even your name, and I’ve been thinking about you all week and…” He tapers off, and Iris lets her eyes travel up the length of him once more.
“Wanna come in?”
She doesn’t know what possesses her to ask—okay, maybe that bit about thinking of her all week helped—but when he nods, a smile easing on his face, her heart starts doing that seizing thing again.
She steps aside to let him in.
He sees the shoes she’d worn to work sitting by the door so he toes off his own sneakers beside them and Iris has to stop herself from acknowledging what they look like next to hers. Instead, she watches as he takes a look around. She’s proud of what she’s been able to do with a consignment shop and limited funds. The focal point is an overstuffed sofa in a light gray and its matching armchair; a multicolored rug with bold hints of sage and orange lies under the dark circular coffee table which is the same color as the bookshelf against her wall, the six shelves teeming with books, as well as the TV stand. She’s got some early artwork by a few Black local artists on her wall, a couple of her favorite quotes printed and framed next to them.
The room feels smaller with him in it. While Iris is no nun, it’s been months since a man other than her brother or dad has been in her home and it feels...strange. The air seems denser somehow, heavy—heavy with the cloud of tension that hovers around them, heavy with the knowledge that the print of this man is still one that she can feel in her body when she falls asleep at night.
She notes that his eyes track the grinder and pipe in plain view on her coffee table and when she faces him again, his eyebrow is lifted.
“Do you partake?” she wonders.
He shrugs. “Sometimes.”
“Will you tonight?”
His response is to tilt his head to the side and gaze down at her, eyes tracing the length of her legs and the curve of her hips and the dip of her waist. He lingers on her cleavage and this time, when he meets her eyes, she feels it, the sensation like she’s been put on simmer, like he’s warming her slowly, easing her into her own combustion, sparking like the lyrics to this song, and then you, came to save the day and I must say, you may have done some more.
He licks his lips. “Yes.”
He tells her his name is Bartholomew Allen.
First, she goes into the kitchen to grab another of the long-stemmed wine glass that the professor she works for had given her as a housewarming gift. Then she eases down onto the sofa before she spreads her arm in an invitation for him to sit too. She pours from the bottle of wine and hands him the glass; he takes it from her, fingers grazing hers where they’re cupped around the bowl.
“My name is Bartholomew Allen,” he says, sort of abruptly.
She blinks over at him, a corner of her mouth lifting. “Your parents named you Bartholomew?”
“It’s a family name,” he adds, and though there’s no hint of embarrassment in his voice when he says it, Iris sees the way his cheeks flush red.
It makes her smile. All she has are the hazy images of him in her head: the way he’d boldly walked up to ask her to dance, how the kisses he’d pressed into her skin had been sure and all-encompassing. There had been no blush to his cheeks that first night when he’d been whispering into her ear; though Iris does recall how the rest of him had turned this same lovely shade of red, like a tinge of wine under his skin, when she had grabbed his ass to push him deeper into her.
In any case, Iris hadn’t thought of him like this, blushing at something as simple as his name and this dichotomy endears him to her.
“But you can call me Barry,” he says after taking a sip of his wine, almost like an afterthought.
“Well, Barry,” she says, “I’m Iris West.”
He looks at her over the rim of his glass. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Iris.”
It’s atypical of her, she knows, inviting this man back into her house like this. Her police captain father would warn her that this is the way that women die. Wally would tsk at her with only slight disapproval, more specifically concerned with the fact that she hadn’t bothered to learn his name before she’d let him climb into her bed. It isn’t a habit of hers, one-night stands (or two nights, she supposes, after tonight) with pale-skinned men from clubs she rarely frequents. But that day, last Saturday, she had gotten an email from the professor of her Feature Writing course with harsh feedback on one of her assignments, and Wally, only in his junior year of undergrad, had canceled their dinner, and she hadn’t updated her blog in what felt like weeks and…
And she’s been in such a space of discontent lately, with the rigid monotony of her days, the school and work and school and work, and she has spent more time than she realizes alone. Her best (and really, her only) friend is in the stages of a building relationship and her dad is too. She’s got people, she does, but they seem so tangential these days. So on Saturday, she’d put on a dress that had shown too much of her brown skin and shoes that had given her more legs than most men know what to do with. And she’d walked down along the aptly named Bar Street, past the uh, I won't love a ho, after we fuck she can't get near me, only bitch I give a conversation to is Siri and the so when are you gonna tell her, that we did that too? until she’d come to the door of something sultrier calling out to her, as seductive and enticing as a siren, and she had answered.
Then, somewhere between her third tequila and her ninth or tenth song, hope that's cool; ‘cause i'm really not trying to, impose but I suppose that, i'm supposed to be here, with you, Barry had come to dance with her, with the long line of his body following her rhythm and the pleasing smell of the lemongrass on his clothes and—for the first time in longer than she cares to admit—Iris had begun to feel.
It explains why she let him come home with her a week ago. It explains why he’s in her apartment now.
“Iris?” She hears Barry call her name, and by the look on his face, she knows it isn’t the first time he’s tried to get her attention. “Are you okay?”
“Yes,” she nods. “Sorry about that. I space out sometimes.” She points towards her table. “Shall we?”
He looks at her a little unsure, as if he wants to say more, but he eventually just nods in agreement. “Sure.”
She leans forward and grabs the grinder. The first time she smoked weed, she’d been a freshman in college. As cliche as it sounds, she’d had a roommate from Colorado who’d brought a stash with her and had offered a hit to Iris once at a house party. She’d liked it immediately, had liked how her brain had cleared, as if someone had wiped away all the writing on a chalkboard, erasing the mounting pressure of being the first university college kid in her family, of being the example for her brother who was ten times smarter and twice as reckless; had liked how much lighter her body had felt, as if she was floating, lying upon a cloud or somewhere even lighter, even higher.
She’s not a heavy smoker, the practice delegated to her Friday night routine and only in the couple years since it’s become legal recreationally in Central City. Still, she can’t help but feel a little nervous right now as Barry watches her pull the small canister towards her and open it. She makes quick work of pinching out a couple nuggets of the blue city diesel she prefers and grinding it up before packing the bowl of the pipe. It’s a pretty thing, made of glass in a dark green with blue and orange swirls. There is the flick of the lighter, and Iris brings the pipe to her lips and inhales.
She can all but feel the smoke flowing through her body, unbending her spine and relaxing her legs, curling in her lungs and moving to her head, making the thoughts there—the stress of classes, the constant sting of loneliness, and even the simmering tension she feels with Barry next to her—start to scatter until they’re no longer noticeable.
She passes the pipe over to Barry, who takes it from her gingerly, the tips of his long fingers brushing her again. She shivers, but she doesn’t acknowledge it, instead leaning back onto the couch, her legs crossed in the seat, as she watches him. He flicks the lighter a couple of times before it lights, and then he fires at the weed and takes a hit. His skin shades the faintest hint of pink and then he pulls the pipe away from his mouth and coughs, a deep cough that waters his eyes.
“You okay?” she questions. He nods as he passes it back. They do this, back and forth, until Barry breathes the smoke in easier and Iris falls even deeper into the couch. That’s when the doorbell rings.
“It’s the food,” she says and Barry is on his feet before she can even make sense of it. “Wait, I have money,” she tries, standing, because this is a mom-and-pop sort of pace and they still do their own delivery instead of going through the more expensive, albeit convenient, routes.
By the time Iris has grabbed her wallet from her purse, Barry is grabbing food and saying “Thanks, man” to Tony, the tall bearded college student who normally delivers it to her.
“Oh what’s up, Iris?” he says to her when she peeks around Barry’s shoulder.
“Hi, Tony. Do I owe you the same?”
“Oh, your boy already got it.” He smiles, a dimple winking at her in his bronze skin. “Y’all have a good night,” he adds and then he winks at her for real before disappearing back downstairs. She backs up to let Barry in the door.
“Barry, you didn’t have to do that.”
“I wanted to. I’m crashing your night and I’m smoking your weed. It’s the least I can do.”
Iris hums, looking up at him. He’s sort of pretty, she thinks absently, with his eyes like gems and his pink mouth, his expression soft and earnest.
“Come on.”
Iris always orders way too much food, usually with the intent to eat off the leftovers for a couple of meals. It’s a spread, with walnut shrimp, a green/ginger salad, pad thai, Bangkok chicken, and several Thai spring rolls, so it's definitely enough to share. She inhales several forkfuls of noodles while Barry attacks the Bangkok chicken. They eat in relative silence, the music still playing in the background, with eyes are sad, i smile, i think you'll find, you need me just like i need you, yeah; but it's cool, we ain't gotta be nothing, it's true, i'd actually prefer it, yeah; it's on you, it's on you, it's on you.
It’s when they’re done eating, when Iris has placed the containers in the refrigerator and they’re both snuggled deeper into the couch, wine glasses close by, that their night really begins. Iris has packed another bowl and takes another hit. And with a lungful of smoke, she asks,
“What sort of music do you like to listen to when you smoke?”
“I don’t think that I smoke enough to know.”
She hands him the bowl and grabs the remote to the smart tv, pulling up the playlist she’d made for nights like this. It gets longer every couple of days, songs that catch her fancy, songs with beats that sing as much as the artists, songs that seep in like the weed does, running through her like the blood in her vein does. The song plays—and i'm not even gonna front, at first i was just tryna fuck, but you have got me so in love, so deep in love, so please be love—and Iris closes her eyes, savoring the mellow sound of the music.
She takes pulls from her wine glass as Barry smokes and then the actions reverse. They take turns, back and forth, until Iris feels her lids drop, sees the slight haze that covers everything in her sight. Barry is sitting at the other end of the chair, but Iris swears that she can feel him, feel the solid heat of him, feel the touch of him like prickles on her skin. When she gazes over at him, positioning herself so that her back is against the arm of the chair and her painted toes just miss Barry’s thighs, she finds that he’s looking at her again.
“What?” she asks.
He shakes his head, indicating nothing, and the movement is slow, stilted. But then he asks,
“How do you feel, about my showing up here?”
She shrugs. “Surprised,” she tells him. “That you wanted to come; that you remembered where I lived.”
Barry chuckles, a low, gentle sound. “I only remembered because of the wreath, the sunflowers.”
She doesn’t add this, though a surprise, is not one she dislikes. She likes his company, even if she can’t name why.
“Barry,” she calls, to grab his attention again, and the way he tilts his head in acknowledgment makes her think more intently on the words of this song—and I'm not even gonna lie, i wouldn't mind if we just lie, together 'til the end of time, if that is fine with you, it's fine with me—and she shakes her head at the thought.
“Hmm?” he hums, eyes never wavering.
“What made you come here tonight?”
She’s sufficiently high now. She’d been careful not to overstuff herself with food and both the wine and diesel have done their job. She feels both languid and like she’s soaring, all at once. The music helps and she’s waiting in anticipation as she waits for his answer.
It’s slow coming, his answer. Before he responds, he touches gingerly at her bare ankles, fingers skimming along the bones of one and then the other. His fingers are warm and Iris feels the light callouses there, shocked at the sensation of the roughened skin on hers, how the touch sends sparks up the lines of her legs. He brings one of her feet up on his lap, and it seems so small in his hands. He presses his thumb into her instep, glides it down to the heel, and back up. Iris lets out a moan, the sound inaudible over the music—definitely love, definitive love—but the tiny uplift of the corner of his mouth suggests he’d heard it, and he grabs her other foot and repeats the action. Then he says,
“I wanted to know if it was as good as my memory.”
He trails his fingers up her left calf, still kneading her right foot. “I kept thinking of you,” he tells her, “about the taste of your mouth and the grip of your slick, and I had to know if I was only drunk and making it up.”
It’s the sensations that make her respond the way she does. It’s the easy purr of keyboards she hears behind Jhene’s dulcet voice; it’s his touch, how it seems to reverberate through her entire body; it the smell of him, of the room: the fainting smell of the smoke and the rosewater butter on her own skin and what she imagines it’ll smell like mixed with the scent of him that she remembers, the notes citrusy and bright.
“Me too,” she tells him. “I woke up on Sunday and I could still feel you. You were gone and much of you was a memory, but the feel of you was still there and…”
(and I wanted you to still be here, wanted to make a lasting memory, a real one, that would keep me warm when school and wavering friendships couldn’t)
But she doesn’t say any of that. Barry has all but mentioned he’s come over to sleep with her again and she can admit that the thought does have immense appeal, even if it’s not the only thing she thinks she wants from him.
She leans up and moves her ankle out of his grasp; he raises an eyebrow at the loss of contact, but then she widens her legs and reaches for him, grabbing at his shirt to pull him on top of her. He comes willingly, hovering above her, holding himself up with one arm on the top of the couch. All Iris can think about is the weight of him on top of her, how guarded it makes her feel, how secure.
“Is this okay?” he asks, voice quiet against the strain of the music from the television set, though she’d been the one to pull him in. He presses his body down, and her legs part automatically, craving him there again. She can tell that he’s high, in the red of his eyes and in the slow ways he’s talking, weighing every word before he lets it out.
“Yes,” she responds, just as quietly.
This seems like a moment here, one Iris can’t make sense of, not knowing what he’s here for. But he’s looking at her like she’s something, like he sees her, and it’s, it’s electrifying.
So when he leans down and kisses her, she leans up and gives it back, letting his mouth work her over. Barry is a good kisser. He starts out easy, slow, just his mouth moving against hers. His lips are soft and he tastes like wine and, somehow, the sex she knows they’re about to have, and the thought makes her close her eyes as she gives herself over to him. He licks at the seam of her lips, bites down her bottom one, and then licks at her again, demanding entry. She opens for him, eyes fluttering closed as he takes full control of her mouth. He sucks on her tongue, and then her lip again, and then he’s back to working her over with his mouth, the kiss wet and sloppy, increasingly erotic.
He is hard between her warm thighs, the solid long length of him, and she has to touch him. She rubs her hands down his back, over his cotton t-shirt, and then up under, along his spine. He shivers on top of her but doesn’t stop kissing her. She keeps one hand running up and down his back, loving the feel of him beneath her palm, and she fingers along his torso with the other, light touches that make his belly clench, that make his hips flex into her. He hums into her mouth, a sound more like a low growl, and it vibrates through her body, moving until it pulses between her legs. She moans in response, and it is that that breaks the kiss. Barry pulls back to look at her, and she likes that he looks a little bit wrecked. He stares down at her, drinking her in, and she knows what he must see: her thighs parted, with the hem of her silk shorts riding high; one strap of her top hanging off her shoulder, her breasts heaving as she tries to catch her breath; her full lips puffy and likely red from his bites; her eyes wide and blown, the dark of her pupils slowly overtaking the brown of her irises. Even her scarf has half-fallen off, and she should care that her hair will be unmanageable tomorrow. But when Barry tilts his head with a question, she lets him take it off and toss it onto her coffee table, and then he leans up, eyes never straying from hers.
“Barry?” she calls but pauses at the look in his eyes.
He fingers at the bottom of her top. “Take it off,” he tells her.
She responds to the slight command in his tone, clenching her stomach muscles as she leans up just enough to pull her tank over her head. He’s kneeling between her legs now, looking down at her breasts sitting heavy on her chest, nipples puckered under his gaze. He hasn’t even touched her yet, and she’s ready. It doesn’t make sense, how responsive she is to him, but she is, even when he’s just there staring.
“Barry?” she calls again, and she thrusts her hips, infinitesimally. It makes him look away from where he’s trying to memorize the weight of her breasts, the smooth tawny brown color of them, the darker areolas, and even darker nipples.
“What are you doing?” she asks, when he doesn’t respond to her.
“Looking at you,” is his too calm answer.
She nods, but huffs out a little breath in annoyance. “Okay, but can you…” fuck me, is the obvious response, but it doesn’t come out as that; instead, it’s another thrust of her hips, her constantly swelling sex rubbing his hard thigh. Barry licks his lips and looks down at her.
“Can I what, Iris?”
“You know,” she says, and squeezes him with her thighs.
“Hmmm,” Barry murmurs. “I don’t know that I do.”
This time, she catches his gaze, noting the glassy look of his eyes, the color grayer in this light. Iris wants to moan at the sight of him.
“Don’t play with me, Barry,” she grumbles, hoping that if she imbues a touch of menace to her words, he’d go ahead and put her out of her misery.
“No?” He lifts an eyebrow. “You don’t want me to play with you, Iris?”
She can’t answer, because then he’s reaching down and parting her thighs wider, enough that Barry can slide the wide leg of one side of her shorts over and expose her pussy to him. She clenches when the air hits her, and then again when Barry slides the tip of his middle finger down the middle of her slit.
She moans, her breath catching at the end of it when she looks down to watch his pale digit disappear inside of her. He dips in and out and in again, and Iris can’t stop watching it. She’s already wet, and his finger is glistening.
“You sure you don’t want me to play with you, Iris?” he asks her, dipping his finger all the way to the knuckle. He brings it back out, and then begins to rub her own wet over her lips. Down the side of her vulva, up the other side. Parting her lips with just that one finger. Sliding in again to gather more of her slick and start his trek over again.
Beneath him, Iris is...a mess. The one finger isn’t enough; she’s too wet for it and she keeps closing around nothing. But her breathing is only growing more labored and she can't. stop. watching. It should be embarrassing; her shorts are soaked through and Barry is still fully clothed, but she can’t be. The look of his long, rough-tipped fingers playing in the pink of her pussy so wholly arousing that she literally thinks that she can come like this.
“No, I,” she tells him, panting. She licks her lips, tries again. “This is…”
“This is what, Iris?” he asks, his cadence still heavy, and honestly, how the fuck does him just saying her name get her off like this. “Use your words, baby.”
“Fuck,” Iris moans.
Barry has the gall to smile. “That’s one.”
“Fuck you,” she moans again.
“Yeah?” Barry questions and he leans down, pulling his dirty little finger out of her and wrapping that same wet hand—wait, how is his whole hand wet—around her waist. He hovers over her, lips just a breath away from hers. “You ready for me to fuck you now?”
She huffs out a surprised laugh. “God, you’re a little bit of a dick.”
“And you’re ready for it now, aren’t you?”
She gives up on trying to be coy. “Yes,” she nods.
Barry has to stand to get out of his clothes, and Iris tries not to whimper at the loss. He pulls his shirt over his head, and Iris sees that his sleeve of flowers extends to his shoulders. He pulls his pants and boxers down, slipping out of his socks too, grabbing his wallet to pull a condom out before tossing it back down on top of his clothes. She watches as he rips open the wrapper and pulls the latex out, pinching its tip and sliding the condom down his length. He’s long and swollen, thicker, maybe, than she remembers, and she finds herself enamored as she watches him touch himself, fingers caressing the thick head and down his shaft.
“Take those off,” he tells her and she didn’t even realize she still has her shorts on. She peels them off, tossing them to the side, and then Barry is between her legs again. He grips her thighs and spreads them, one knee digging into the sofa close to her chest, the other planted high up on his hip.
He rubs himself along her once, making sure she’s still ready for him, and with a hand gripping her waist, he slides into her. She can feel herself opening for him, stretching to make room for him. He pulls out, just to the tip, and then he pushes back in, deeper, harder, and Iris gasps out a long “oohhh.” He rocks up into her, long strokes, slow strokes, like he’s got all the time in the world. She hears herself, she hears them, the wet sound of her pussy taking him in.
“Listen to you,” Barry whispers as he reaches down and thumbs at her clit. “You’re so wet, baby. God,” he groans. “Do you always get like this?” He fucks into her harder, still maddeningly slow, but fuck if it doesn’t make her swell a little more, gush a little more. “Or is it us? Is it me that gets you like this? Dripping out of that pretty little pussy like this?”
“Fuck, Barry, shit.”
He leans down again, until his chest is brushing her. The action plants him deeper, and he fucks into her, steady, persistent. He’s so close that Iris doesn’t know what to do with herself. He’s holding on to her waist, pinning her down on the sofa, and his pelvis brushes her clit with every downward stroke.
“Bar-Barryyyyyy.” Iris throws her head back, eyes clenched tight as she comes with a low, drawn-out moan, her hips bucking frantically as she squeezes wetly around Barry.
He pulls out of her and starts to move the sofa cushions from the back of the chair. It gives them more room and Barry sits down until he’s half laid out, back against the arm of the chair and legs spread on either side of her, one bracing on the floor.
“Lay on your stomach,” he tells her, “and then push your legs under mine.”
She does as he says, still a little sluggish from her unexpected orgasm. This move puts her ass in the air, and Barry grabs at her hips to bring her back to him. She looks back as he’s lining himself up with her again, and then he’s bringing her down on him, opening her up for him again. They both moan at the contact this time, Iris still sensitive from moments before. But he seems even harder now, even deeper when Iris leans forward to grab onto the other end of the couch. He guides her for a stroke, two, three, until she catches onto his rhythm, and begins to fuck herself back on him. He’s so deep she figures she could feel him hitting the bottom of his stomach if she focused hard enough. She bounces on him, keeping up his slow pace, and he gives her a hard squeeze around the waist for her efforts.
“That’s it, Iris,” he murmurs. “Ride me slow just like that.”
She’s always liked dirty talk; there’s something fully stimulating about a man making it known that he’s enjoying being with you. But this, this is different, and Iris can barely stand how much she’s turned on by him talking to her like this.
“You feel so good, Barry,” she tells him.
“Yeah?” He juts up into her, faltering a rhythm, making her fall even deeper into the sofa, making him fall even deeper into her. “Tell me what it feels like.”
She licks her lips, swallows. She’s never…
“It’s just me and you,” he says, sensing her hesitation. He stills her hips and straightens his torso, bringing her up as much as she can. He turns her head so that he can see her eyes. He moves away the hair that’s fallen into her face and gives her a quick peck on the mouth. “It’s just us, okay?”
She nods, and moves back into the comfortable position, back to grinding down on his dick, squeezing around his dick.
“Shit, Iris, that’s it.”
“You feel good,” she tells him again, firmly. “You’re so thick, so hard, I can’t even…” She falls forward again, and Barry gives her one hard slap down her ass cheek. “Barry!”
He soothes the sting with the palm of his hand, rubbing in small circles.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so wet in my life,” she confesses, softly, truthfully. And that must have been what Barry was waiting for. He takes over, holding her hips in a death grip and he pounds into her. The slap-slap of his skin on hers is loud, the squelch of her wet, profane. She can feel her belly tighten again, the tell-tale sign that her orgasm is imminent. Barry’s is too, she can tell. His movements are more erratic, slow and then fast and then slow again until reaches out and presses a thumb to her puckered hole peeking back at him. That’s the end for them both. Iris screams out, her back arching deeply, just as Barry stills and empties into the condom, his dick throbbing against her walls as he does. She falls face forward into the sofa, still sitting on Barry, trying to catch her breath. It’s only then that she notices the music still playing from the television—infinite love, yeah; i've been wrong before, but this time I am for sure; it's you; something you did made me feel it deep in my core—and she asks for Alexa to turn the television off.
That throws the room into stark silence, except for the sound of their heavy breathing. She doesn’t know how long they lie there, but Iris thinks she could be almost asleep when Barry shifts up and out of her. She knows that she’s likely gonna have to deep clean the sofa tomorrow.
“Iris,” Barry calls moments later, and she turns her head to the side to see him standing beside her, his soft sex sitting on his thigh. He must have thrown the condom away already.
“Hmmm.”
He chuckles. “Come on, baby, let’s get you cleaned up and we can go to sleep.”
She nods slowly, and sits up, letting him take her hand to lead her into the bathroom. She tries, though she can’t say how much she succeeds, at telling herself that this, that this is nothing.
And it's cool
Think that we're up to something
But it's on you, it's on you, it's on you
It's on you, it's on you, it's on you
It's on you, it's on you, it's on you
It's on you, 'cause I'm cool with nothing, yeah
'Cause even nothing is something
You Will Be Found (Amphibia x Oc)
Chapter 1- Anne or Jean? All was quiet in the small town of Wartwood. It was early morning, and Flossie Harveston, an albino axolotl with red hair, sighed as she awaited her mother. Her mother Pebbles, a hard working Newt, was inside one of the shops selling her stock. The young axolotl groaned, leaning over the wagon sides as her snail, Boris, chewed at the grass. All of a sudden, her ears perked up when Wally Ribbiton, the towns local crazy frog, burst out of the bushes screaming. “Monster! Th-there’s a monster in the woods! I seen it! I seen it!” He shrieked. Flossie tilted her head in curiosity. “A monster?” She wondered. After Mayor Toadstool got the hysterical frog to calm down, Wally began to describe its appearance. “It was horrifying! It had a huge head, a weird, stubby bump right in the middle of its face and long spindly limbs!” Everyone gasped, while Flossie’s eyes widened in excitement. “A monster? Maybe I could hunt it! Then I will finally be liked!” She smirked to herself, getting ready to jump off the wagon. “Ehem.” Floss turned to her mother, who gave her a disapproving look. “Oh! Mum! H-how long have you been there?” She chuckled nervously. “Long enough.” Pebbs replied, placing the things she didn’t sell into the wagon. “And YOU, young lady, are not going monster hunting. Leave that to the townsfolk. We’re just here for our monthly visit.” She stated. Flossie huffed in defeat, sitting back down. “Now we best get home. We don’t want that monster to find us. Who knows what it can do.” With that, she ordered Boris forward. The snail let out a coo, before moving forward. Travelling through the woods, the two amphibians were mostly silent. Pebbs hummed to herself, and her daughter hung over the side of the wagon, observing the ground as it rolled by. Bored out of her mind, she almost missed the strange foot-prints in the ground. “Wait mum stop!” Pebbs pulled on the reins. “What is it?! Did we forget something?!” She turned around, only to find the Axolotl child gone. “Flossie? FLOSS?!” She shrieked. Flossie rushed through the woods, following the odd foot-prints. The axolotl paused by a tree, panting for breath. “Geez, I didn’t realise it’d be this far.” She muttered to herself. A loud groan sounded from up ahead. Floss held her breath. Stepping forward cautiously, she peeked out from over a log. A large, gangly creature with spindly arms sat a few feet away. Its back was to her, and all the young axolotl could see was the brown hair tied in a ponytail. She let out a quiet gasp. “The monster!” The “monster” spun around, having heard the axolotl. “Who’s there!?” It yelled. Flossie shrunk behind the log, covering her mouth with her hands. “Flossie, you idiot!” She hissed. Hearing a yelp of pain, she peeked back over the log. The monster was leaning against a tree, holding its leg. Its face was scrunched in pain as it searched the surrounding forest in fear for any sign of life. Flossie’s eyes widened when she noticed the blood covering the monsters hand. Leaning back on the log, Flossie’s brows furrowed. “What do I do? I could just kill it and be a hero. Maybe then the toads will stop bullying me. But…” peeking back over, she looked at the monster one last time. The beast that obviously wasn’t just a monster, but a living, feeling, and hurt creature. Flossie clenched her fists, determination and fear coursing through her. “Alright Flossie, you can do this! Or you could possibly die either one!” Stepping out from behind the log, Flossie, gave a little wave as the creature turned to face her. “Hi! I-i’m-“ She was abruptly cut off, ducking as the beast lifted a stick from the ground and threw it in her direction. “Stay away! You-weird-strange-lizard-thing!” It pointed accusingly at her, backing up. Unfortunately, it tripped over a tree root, falling over as it let out a loud “OOF!” Flossie gasped. “Oh my frog! I’m so sorry for scaring you!” She rushed over, extending a hand. “Here! Let me help you!” She smiled reassuringly. The creature looked up at her, allowing the girl to help her. Flossie grinned as she looked up at the creature now towering over her. “I’m Flossie Harveston! What’s your name?” The monster stared at her warily. “Jean. Jean Goodman.” She replied bluntly. Flossie jumped up and down on the spot. “Are you that monster Wally was talking about?! You…” she put a hand to her chin, seeming to realise something. “…kinda…look like his description, save for the huge head.” There was an awkward silence between the two. Jean glanced at Flossie’s belt. “You’re…not gonna attempt to kill me, are you?” She questioned suspiciously, pointing to the small dagger. The young axolotl shook her head. “Oh no! Of course not! This is just my harvesting dagger!” She stated, pulling the dagger from its sheath and waving it around, much to Jean’s discomfort. “It’s completely harmless!” At that, the amphibian accidentally dropped the knife. It dug into a log, cutting it open as dozens of bugs crawled out. “Ooh! Jackpot!” She squealed, picking up the bugs. Jean glanced down at her in disgust. “Ok…uh, do you know some caves nearby that I can stay in?” Flossie nodded eagerly, trying to hold as many bugs as she could as she pointed in another direction. “A couple of miles that way! Shouldn’t be hard to miss!” She said cheerily. Jean hummed in response, limping away. “Thanks kid.” Flossie watched her go, a look of concern covering her features. “So what happened to your leg?” She asked curiously. Jean stopped, remembering the incident. “Got attacked by this massive bug. Got me in the leg as I ran off. Cowardly, I know.” She muttered. Flossie was concerned. “No, it was a good thing! If it was a Mantis it would’ve eaten you alive! You need to get your wound checked. We don’t want it infected, in case we have to amputate it.” Jean shook her head in confusion. “We?” “Yeah! C’mon, I can take you back home! My mum might be able to help!” She cheered. Grabbing Jean’s hand, she led her through the woods. The tall girl pulled her hand from the axolotl’s grip. “Oh no, I’m not going with you. You’ll probably hand me over to be dissected or something.” Her eyes narrowed as she stared down at the amphibian. The said amphibian looked up at her with innocent, worried eyes. “Why would I hand you over to anyone? I can see you’re no monster. You’re just scared and lost! Here! If it makes you feel any better-“ the axolotl cleared her throat, placing a hand over her heart. “I swear by King Andrias that I will not hand you over to someone who can hurt you! There! Now do you trust me?” She grinned, holding out a hand. Jean hesitated for a moment, before gently taking her hand. “Alright…you better not go back on it.” She muttered, as she allowed Flossie to lead her through the woods towards her wagon. “FLOSSIE! COME BACK THIS INSTANT! FLOSSIE!” Pebbs stopped yelling for a moment, panting for breath. “Frog dangit Flossie-“ “Mum! There’s someone I want you to meet!” Pebbs turned to the voice. Flossie was walking out of the woods, helping a horrible beast over a log. “FLOSSIE! GET AWAY FROM THAT THING!” She screeched, reaching into the back and pulling out a cane. Flossie waved her hands around frantically. “Wait, no! Mum! She’s a friend! And she needs help!” She tried calming her mother down, gesturing to Jean’s leg. Pebbs stared down at the beast, but didn’t lower her cane. Flossie sighed. “Mum, she’s hurt and all alone. I couldn’t leave her out there! She’ll die if we don’t help her.” Pebbs frowned, lowering the cane to her side. “Floss, darl, you’ve only been gone ten minutes. You don’t know it. For all we know Wally could be right! It could be tricking you so it can eat us!” She said sternly, not taking her eyes away from the creature. Jean sighed. “That’s fine. I know when I’m not wanted. I’ll be on my way.” She muttered. She started walking away, as Flossie stared after her. Pebbs felt a pang of guilt as she watched the strange creature walking away. Glancing down at Flossie’s heart-broken expression, she sighed angrily to herself. “I’m gonna regret this, aren’t I?” She muttered. Jean was almost out of view when she heard a voice call out to her. Looking over her shoulder, she realised it was the Newt. “Do you need a place to stay?” She asked. Jean raised an eyebrow. Flossie was smiling widely, her eyes filled with happiness as she rushed over to Jean. “YOU GET TO COME WITH US! YES YES YES!” She squealed. Dragging poor Jean toward the wagon, the creature had no choice but climb into the wagon, a fair bit away from Pebbs and her cane. Jean held her knees to her chest as Floss jumped in her seat. “This is so exciting! Can I ask questions now? 21 questions! First off, what are you and where did you come from? We’ve never seen anything like you before!” Jean leaned away from the excited Axolotl. “Uh…well, I’m a human, and I’ve come from another world. Don’t know how, just woke up here.” She explained. Pebbs listened to the creature’s story, her face scrunched up in thought. Flossie gasped. “Another world?! Is there magic?!” She squeaked. As Jean was about to reply, the wagon stopped. “Well, we’re here. Welcome to the Harveston’s cabin.” Pebbs stated. The cabin stood in the middle of a small clearing. The amphibians hopped off the wagon, followed by Jean. “You can sleep in the spare room. It has a window and we can put a mattress down if you want.” Pebbs said, heading toward the small house. The human was surprised by the newts sudden change of attitude. It almost frightened her how barely ten minutes ago she wanted to hit her with a cane. Jean was now in the guest room of the Harveston’s home, looking around at her new surroundings. The room was small and mostly bare, with a mattress now taking up one of the corners. A desk sat near the window, while a wardrobe took up the left side of the room. Sighing, she took off her jacket. “Guess this is where I’ll be sleeping from now on.” She muttered. Hearing a knock at the door, she turned to find Flossie holding a book. “Haha, thought I’d give you one of my books to read, might learn about our world a bit better?” She asked shyly, holding out the book. Jean raised a brow, surprised. “Oh…thank you.” She answered, taking the book and reading the title, ‘Land of Amphibia: A Polliwog Guide’. A small smile made its way to her face. “That’s…very considerate of you.” Flossie beamed. “No problem, Jean! Well, goodnight!” She waved, making her way out the door. Watching her go, Jean’s smile never left her face. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a photo. It was of Anne Booncuy, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu, her adopted siblings. Smile falling, Jean felt a lump form in her throat. “I’m gonna find you guys, if your ARE here….” She mumbled, sitting down on the mattress. A/N: first chapter? might redo it as i go. i’ll be writing most of the chapters before i eventually post them, so think of this as a preview?
