I noticed something about Frank’s Homewarming outfit…
Tumblr media
His sweater is the exact same color as…
Tumblr media
THE PEA!
I’ve seen theories suggesting that the pea could represent Eddie and the isolation he experienced leading up to the Homewarming party, as well as Home’s/Playfellow Workshop’s disapproval of his feelings for/relationship with Frank. While I like this theory, I’m wondering if the pea could also somehow represent Frank.
In addition to being a reminder that Home is always watching (hence the pea on the plate resembling an eye), this could be Home sending a subliminal message to Eddie that he had better leave Frank alone as if Frank is the pea on the plate. Some people have speculated that Eddie will be completely absent from the next update as he will have been taken off the show, but what if we see Eddie avoid Frank instead, perhaps even suggesting to Frank that he spend more time with Julie instead?

🐛The Pillar Family!🦋
Oh I’m so happy I got to draw these colorful worms! I figure Hiya and Biya have more kiddos than just Seeya, Latter, and Howdyadoo, but i decided to just draw who we’ve seen so far. I’m guessing Howdy is younger than Seeya and Latter considering he ain’t a butterfly yet during the Holiday Hullabaloo, so that’s why he’s a baby bean in this drawing! I also went for a 1950s style in terms of clothes and posing and I think it turned out pretty cute 🐛
Edit: I was kindly informed that Howdy mentions Seeya specifically as his little sister! Oops! Well, I think we all needed some baby Howdy regardless haha

Welcome Home Theory: Why Sally Does Not Like Eddie
Tumblr media
I want to discuss why I think Sally does not like Eddie/isn’t friendly with him. I think Playfellow had intended to make Sally and Eddie a couple in the show. Just like how Julie and Frank are being misread intentionally as a straight couple, Playfellow’s goal with Eddie and Sally was to have them connect just enough that straightness could be assumed.
Sally knows that she is being pressured into an unwanted relationship with Eddie, thus she is intentionally making their relationship as distant as possible. We know she knows this agenda because Sally was the one to point out that Julie and Frank made a good couple. She did this to protect them.
You see, Frank and Julie are close friends on and off camera, so Playfellow presenting them as a straight couple would be extremely easy. Sally wants to protect their friendship, and she knows that the only way to do that is to lean into the lie.
In theory, Eddie and Sally should be friends at least. He obviously enjoys theater, prop making, and make up, all of which you’d assume Sally would love about him. But she keeps him at arm’s length. Why? Because she knows that any positive relationship between him and her would be twisted into them being a couple. I think Eddie is oblivious to this. He may only understand that he and Frank must remain distant when being watched, but Sally would have no reason to explain to Eddie why she doesn’t interact with him.

Welcome Home is an upcoming web series by @\PartyCoffin, aka Clown, about the educational puppet show of the same name and The Welcome Home Restoration Project’s efforts to scratch the itch recover this seemingly lost show that means so much to them all.
There’s more to discover on the site, I just wanted to draw special attention to something I’m certain people would overlook.

Has anyone caught the pea symbolism in the new update yet cuz
I recently learned that peas have symbolism. And the pods they're found in but just the singular green orbs. Most of the time they represent gratitude or bliss
Victorian England however, is different. Because peas (usually Sweet Peas) were used as a way of saying goodbye to one who would be leaving on a trip (like a loved one)
So tying back with the new update, since Eddie was seen holding a singular pea on a plate, I just have one question;
Are we going to like, say goodbye to hime in some kind of way? Is he going to die?
I don't know, just speculating here.

I’m going to be discussing spoilers from the new update, specifically entailing Eddie. Spoilers are below the cut, so, like. Spoiler alert
One thing that stuck out to me right before Eddie “goes to Toyland” (which is what’s implied to happen) is the anger he felt. To me it felt incredibly out of place. Out of place for what’s supposed to be a children’s show, and out of place for Eddie.
We’ve seen Eddie in situations substantially worse for his staying focused on the job than people not having any mail. We’ve seen people jump at him, get pressured into literally lifting other people (and possibly a fucking house), and was too nervous to speak up for himself. We’ve seen him take a lot of shit from both Howdy and Barnaby in the audios, and he more or less took it on the chin. Julie overwhelmed him with her business game, and instead of getting frustrated, he just kind of… curled up.
So this strikes me as particularly odd. There are two explanations I can think of to explain why it happened. The first is a theory I’ve seen floated around about the puppets slowly deviating from the in-universe writers’ design. We see this contrast between how everyone acts in the books and ads and how they act in the bug audios; Barnaby had a twinge of meanness, Julie had a personality beyond being ADHD incarnate, Frank expressed kindness. It’s not out of the question. The second theory is based off of a few observations from earlier on: Eddie is notably from out of town, and is loosely implied to have moved in last out of the main cast. It wouldn’t be absurd to say that this leads him to being “not with the program”, even if him being the newest addition is only in-universe for the show (as opposed to him being literally constructed and written last)
The second thing that was prominent to me was Home’s response to Eddie entering Toyland. This is quite plainly conspicuous and intentional, but I wanted to bring attention to it because of the interesting implications of it. First off, Home is pretty much confirmed to be sentient now. I’ll be damned if there’s any coherent counterargument that doesn’t boil down to going “nuh-uh”. Second, Home is at minimum recognizing that something is happening to Eddie. It’s not clear whether Home is aware of what specifically is happening to Eddie, or whether or not Home had a hand in setting off the incident, but the fact that home recognized that something was happening to Eddie nearly instantly solidifies how intelligent and aware Home actually is. This isn’t inherently surprising, since we’ve already gotten word-of-God confirmation that Home has repeatedly beaten Frank at chess, however, this is the most pointed and direct example that we’ve seen in the actual project.
Third, the fact that Eddie specifically had The Horrors™️ enacted upon him first specifically (at least, as far as we’re explicitly aware of; It’s unclear whether Wally counts as having experienced The Horrors™️ or if he is the arbitrator of them. More on that later) lends to some very interesting suggestions. Five possible explanations I can think of work as follows: One, he knew too much about either the nature of whatever specifically is weird about Home (town), whether that be Home (house), Wally, another character, the monsters of the night, something else about the night, or he knew too much about his nature as a fictional character. There is some speculative support for this; first, the aforementioned outsider angle that he’s been played with, and second, his parallels to the scrapped character Sunny. Sunny was the most recent to move in within the beta continuity, he was the love interest for Frank, he was smart and likely knew too much, and he disappeared first. Two, his outburst earlier in the day proved to be too out of character and thus a risk and liability to whoever was in control of what happened to him. Aside from my above breakdown of that scene, and from the fact that there’s very prominent examples of Playfellow and Marlo (or perhaps Wally, if for whatever reason Evil Wally ends up being true) blatantly straightwashing characters and possibly suppressing free will of the characters, assuming that’s what we’re meant to take away from the bug audios. Three, Eddie realized the actual absurdity of the Pea On A Plate and “woke up”, lucid dream style. I don’t really like this interpretation, since the fact that it’s in several promotional materials and companion merchandise suggests that it was an absurdist humor bit in-universe, which isn’t farfetched considering how children’s shows tend to be. Four, there’s another reason that’s yet to be revealed as to why Eddie got selected first. To be a total Devil’s advocate, we’re still relatively early in what’s looking to be a very slow-paced story. We’re not gonna have all the details, and red herrings are going to pop up, intentionally or otherwise. Five, Eddie was selected randomly or with no actual reason.
There’s also a few possibilities for who sent Eddie to Toyland, which is interesting to me. First, it could be Home. It wouldn’t be surprising considering its mysterious and noted uncanny nature, and its prominence during that scene. Second, it could be Wally. While I personally don’t find it to be the most reasonable, since something of this magnitude being perpetrated by a character we have a face to would likely involve that character, there’s enough evidence of Wally acting aware and generally odd where it isn’t completely absurd. Additionally, it’s entirely plausible that Wally’s conspicuous absence during the entire arc is indicative of some sort of guilt. Third, the show writers, someone at Playfellow, or another party along those lines somehow caused it, either by technological or supernatural means we don’t know about or by some accidental bout of supernatural fuckery, such as rewriting something and it having bizarre effects on the characters. It’s out there, but not out of the question considering the weird shit they’ve done. On top of that, it’s not impossible that another entity or force somehow caused this that either hasn’t been revealed or explained yet.
As to what Toyland actually entails, I’ve concocted a few theories. One, he literally got up and mentally teleported to a land of giant toys. Two, it’s full Star Trek mode and there’s Horrors™️ so mentally stimulating that the only way it could be perceived by either us or Eddie that that’s all it can be perceived as. Three, Going To Toyland is some sort of initiation, rite of passage, or method of psychologically controlling the cast that everyone else either doesn’t realize is happening or has their memories of it forcibly suppressed. This could be supported by the aforementioned “Eddie is an Outsider” and it’s possibly his first Homewarming since moving to the area. After all, a housewarming is a celebration that welcomes and initiates someone to the neighborhood; would it be that odd that Homewarming is a twisted version of that?
Anyways. Those are my observations and a bunch of interpretations. Part of why I love this project so much is how mysterious and unclear the exact details are, creating excellent suspense and a drive to theorize, and leading up to a truly gobsmacking reveal or conclusion. This update certainly delivered. Whatever the answer is for any of the branching paths I described, it’ll almost definitely reveal how truly fucked up the perpetrator is (or, alternatively, how utterly fucked up the situation is in general, if there ends up not being an instigator) for, y’know, doing that. Clown and Co., you’ve certainly outdone yourselves, and the wait was worth it; this speculative theorycrafting this update has provided is absolutely incredible.

welcome home's character-color-coding, and what it might mean going forward... the color theory :D
hello neighbors!! last night i had an epiphany... perhaps someone's made it before, but either way, it struck me, and i just have to talk about it!!
in this latest update, eddie was absent for the majority of the homewarming media -- namely, he was MIA for basically everything new on the main site. his only time to shine was on the secret site, in which he was still isolated from all of his neighbors.
this was stewing around in my brain for a while, until i remembered... until the bug update, none of the text on the site contained purple.
Tumblr media
this is the menu on the current site -- any purple in these options was not present in the original menu: the letters just cycled through a red-orange-yellow-green-blue-pink loop. oddly enough, certain pages present on the original site -- such as 'the neighborhood!' -- had their text in the menu updated to include teal and purple, while certain pages new to the bug update -- such as 'stickers' -- lack these new colors.
Tumblr media
not to mention how the logo, containing only the red-orange-yellow-green-blue-pink color loop, was not updated to include the new colors.
Tumblr media
this is all worthy of note because all of our characters are color-coded! julie is pink, wally is red, sally is orange, frank is yellow, poppy is green, howdy is teal, barnaby is blue, and eddie is purple. the absence of purple in the site's typography would suggest the absence of eddie, which we have certainly received -- of course, correlation does not equal causation, but it's still an odd coincidence.
though, if we follow this to its logical conclusion, then something is also bound to happen to howdy -- for his color, teal, was also absent in the site's original text.
another odd thing is that howdy, eddie, and wally are the only neighbors in welcome home to have non-alliterative names (howdy pillar, eddie dear, wally darling). this likely has no real significance, but it could imply some tie between the three -- and, if eddie and howdy are the victims here, given their colors were originally missing, wally being roped in with them despite having his color on the site since the beginning might imply that he was the one behind what happened to them.
i guess if we wanna really go crazy, home has no color assigned to them... so does that mean they're every color? or none of them? what would the former, or the latter, imply about their fate in the story, if this color theory has any real significance? if they're every color, then they're omnipresent... the mastermind behind it all. if they're none of them, their color was always missing from the website... they're the ultimate victim. though that's going a bit overboard, no?
anyway, please tell me what you think!!! thank you, and have a nice day :)

🎬 NOW IT'S TIME FOR...
Eddie's notes hour!
I just wanted to take a closer look into all of the notes that we see on Eddie's desk within the hidden video + some input/speculation on them
...
1. Starting with the gift list:
Tumblr media
I went into it a bit in a previous post, but I think(?) I now have the full list down (w/some help from others from that post) :
Julie - Chimney Cozy
Frank - Bug Catching Net (?)
Wally - Apple
Howdy - Calculator
Poppy - Doilies (still unsure about that one)
Barnaby - Bones (?)
Sally - Mirror
I will say that these gifts seem very fitting for everyone, but between the few questions marks next to some of the gifts, along with Eddie's doubts about Julie's and Frank's gift in the vid:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sounds like Eddie HIMSELF is unsure if these gifts will work. It has the same vibes as trying to shop for someone that you sort of know the interests of, but not much else
Which sort of amplifies that he isn't the closest to any of the neighbors (seemingly he only gets to interact with them when they need something from him), so this might play more into the theme of Eddie being alienated from the rest of the neighborhood
...
2. Moving on to the grocery list:
Tumblr media
Okay so I'm still struggling w/a few words, but I think it goes as follows:
Grocery (I think?)
Envelopes
Pencil
Construction Paper
Paper {Lined} (I think?)
Eggs
Milk
I don't have too much to say here, but it is a bit interesting that Eddie has to buy supplies for his own business from Howdy. I always figured that another reason why Howdy disliked Eddie was because he might have sold his own paper/stationary items at the post office, hence competition, but maybe not
...
3. It's TIC TAC TOE time!! ❌⭕
Tumblr media
Now I am not about to begin to try to count how many games he played through that you can see on the screen (you can't make me!)
BUT, given the scoreboard:
Tumblr media
Eddie (his left, I'm guessing the ⭕s): 4...?
Eddie (his right, I'm guessing the ❌s): 14
That's at least 18 games by itself, can you imagine how many if you included the draws ?!
Poor Eddie...
But listen - I'll end this post with something that has been scratching at me - Tic Tac Toe as a potential symbol in the story
Tumblr media
Now I don't know HOW significant Tic Tac Toe is to WH, but I think it is significant.
Does anyone remember this post back in October, during the Halloween update? The one where OP had put this one tic tac toe game over the map? (go check it out)
I really do think that's a solid lead towards something big, and it was actually one of the first things that popped in my head when thinking back to this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But even if it turns out it isn't, Tic Tac Toe has been showing up from time to time via drawings/surroundings, which is already enough to at least consider it moving forward
So here, while it makes sense in context as to why Eddie is playing the game a bunch in the video (waiting around for someone to show up with nothing better to do), and all this can honestly be a stretch, but to have him specifically play THAT game, after its been shown to pop up that often...makes me suspicious for sure...
...
Either way, this has been...
Eddie's notes hour!
(seriously, I'm not good at making title names)

(FAN ART! Please do not repost!)
WAHHH! The update has me in shambles over here! I haven’t had time to draw something new, so I’m sharing this again but now you can actually see the puppeteers haha!
I’m so interested in the puppeteering aspect of this story, and I think it’s even more deep when you consider how many people are working these silly guys. For reference, I looked at images of Jim and the gang puppeteering Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street. I love learning how this stuff works!
Anyway, the art itself isn’t a spoiler, but I’ll tag this as such just in case.
Happy Homewarming! 💌

☆There's No Place Like Home☆
《You are new to this... Neighborhood? Where the hell are you?》
[Episode 1]
Tumblr media
《Warnings: the subject matter this ARG has are potentially disturbing. DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT. Welcome Home was created by Clown @ partycoffin 》
-
Gasping for air, you sat up quickly, blinking your eyes bleary as you try to focus on where you are. What greeted you was... Your steering wheel? Were you in your car? Why are you in your car, shouldn't you be at home? Did you sleep on the drive back?
Oh God wait.
Did you hit something!?
Even in your sleep deprived mind, you quickly take out your keys from the ignition and unlock your door and step outside. Praying or hoping that there wasn't any damage..!
"Oh thank God! It's not totaled..." Breathing in the sweet air, you pause your celebration.
Your car was fine, for the most part, it was parked crooked outside of someone's house. But otherwise nothing.
Looking around, you saw that you were in some neighborhood. But not any you were familiar with, the houses on the street were brightly-colored and big. Reminding you of commercials for housing on T.V.
Speaking of houses, you needed to get home. But what street were you even on? Heading to the closest house that was (favorite-color), you check the numbers, but couldn't find them?
"What is with this place?"
Curiously, you decided to knock and just ask for directions. Yet when you did, the house door opens up.
Stupidly, you call out into the darkness. Apologizing for intruding in the owner's home.
You take a chance and step inside the home, carefully fiddling with your keys in case you needed to use them as weapons.
The door slams shut behind you, but you don't turn back
Eyes
. You saw so many eyes...Why is there so many damn eyes!?
You close your peepers, holding your breath, hoping for a quick death. Unaware of the flickering of the lights and confetti being thrown at you.
"SUPRISE! WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD!" Warm, bright, different voices greet you. All joyous and happy to be there.
You fall onto your knees, sobbing uncontrollably as your tears stain the floorboard.
-
[Taglist closed]
(Welcome to the neighborhood reader! Haha, jk, I'm getting into a new Fandom. Hopefully you guys enjoy this! If you did, reblog and comment, it helps me with my creativity! If you'd like to learn more about this story (not the arg) but it in my asks. Fan art is appreciated. Thank you!)

WELCOME HOME THEORY :D
i've been swinging back and forth between "this is genius" and "i am spitballing" in debating whether to publicize this theory. i have decided to put it out there. i hope i'm somewhat right! (long post ahead)
so user @thecolourfulkingdom pointed out the importance of this tic-tac-toe image from the guestbook page:
Tumblr media
i know a one-person game of tic-tac-toe doesn't seem like much, but op then placed this image on top of the neighborhood map (credits to them for figuring that out!), this image becomes very interesting.
Tumblr media
it's suspicious how nicely the two line up.
i know this could be a random detail, but in somewhere as detailed as welcome home, i think that every detail counts, especially one like this. if it is a coincidence, it's a very strange one.
the circles in the board call attention to four (or five, depending on how you look at it) characters: wally/home, sally, frank, and howdy. we already know wally and home are two very important characters in the lore, but what connection do the remaining three three have? and why is wally pointing them out specifically?
this trio made me think of a certain image from the conceptual days of welcome home: concept art of the telephone that was revealed in the july update. (i'm not going to repost it due to clown's wishes about spreading conceptual art, but you can find it on their portfolio!)
in this image, the phone has eight buttons for eight neighbors, like the current one on the website. however, this one has three buttons scribbled out. based on colors, the three characters missing are sally (orange), howdy (teal), and eddie (purple).
i know it's not exact, but the fact that two out of the three "scratched-out" characters match the ones circled on this map has me thinking that i'm onto something.
here's what i think is going on. something happened in the neighborhood that divided the neighbors in half. something happened to the four uncircled ones--julie, barnaby, eddie, and poppy. it's really not clear what's happened to them right now, but wally has mentioned that he cannot talk to his neighbors right now. i think they at the very least lack the awareness to the strange things happening in the neighborhood. at the worst, they are dead.
again, i'm not sure what happened to them, so all we can do right now is speculate.
our remaining four--frank, sally, howdy, and wally--are the ones who have retained awareness. they know what is happening in home. they know about the whrp. and they know about the audience welcome home is gaining.
we know wally and home know about us because they have both spoken to us through the "i will find a way soon" audios. but what about the remaining three?
the july website update not only included the drawings that led to wally's messages, but also bugs leading to videos of interactions between the members. while the whrp insisted that there was nothing important about the bugs, the audience could click on these bugs and find secret videos depicting a conversation between the neighbors.
the latest game theory video on welcome home points out that like how drawing is related to wally and the drawings lead to messages from him, bugs are connected to frank, from his character description to his hidden audio with eddie. i believe those messages could be from frank. the video goes into more depth about this, but for the sake of the length of this theory, i'll stop here.
in the october 13th halloween update, we got the "happy haunting to boo and yours" record. the website staff insist multiple times that there is a gap in the audio during sally's story where they can't make out what sally is saying, but we can. (if you need a transcript for the skipped-over part, i have one reblogged!)
sally's story is a very menacing one about a monster that she cannot see or hear that prowls the neighborhood at night, devouring anything it passes, confining the neighbors to their homes at night. this would seem like a normal scary story if not for how the audio changes. at every other part, the audio has a crackly, vinyl sound; however, sally's story is perfectly clear.
it seems to me like sally is directly talking to the website's audience here: she's trying to warn us about the strange things going on in home. i think frank's messages were trying to do the same thing too. these are glimpses into the sides of welcome home that the whrp, wally, and home have not shown us: the lives of the neighbors, and the unsettling danger lurking beneath it all. notice how subtle both of their warnings were, and how they were careful to make sure that whrp could not discover them while the audience could.
also, remember how the title of the video tabs in the july update--"answer"--led us to the staff only page? i think the title of the newest hidden video--"listen"--is telling us not only to listen to the audios for a true glimpse of what life in the neighborhood was like, but to listen to their warnings.
i don't think wally is aware that frank and sally have been contacting us in secret, but i do believe he knows that they stand apart from the other neighbors, hence the tic-tac-toe board and the map.
but there's still one loose end: howdy hasn't yet talked to the audience. i think that during the big holiday update, we will see the final member of the "survivor trio" (as i like to call them) contact us. and i'm hoping this update tells us more about what's happening in welcome home's world and what role we as the viewers play in it.
:)

I'm having a certain amount of weird cognitive dissonance about partycoffin's Welcome Home (not tagging them because this is kinda speculation...)
I normally absolutely loathe the "the cute thing was EVIL ALL ALONG" genre, especially with Muppety puppets. I have a very strong squick about it. The Henson Workshop was one of baby's first hyperfixations, and The Dark Crystal is so important to me that it's hard to describe how without invoking religion.
... It's important to me, for these reasons, that the Muppets, especially the Sesame Street crew, are... innocent. Not in a Calvinist way, in an ... autistic hippie way. They're joyfully weird. They're not cruel for cruelty's sake. Some of the Muppets are grumpy and mean because it's what they were made to be, but they're not...
Look, it's hard to explain, but there's a very specific kind of Mean Comedy that, before Henson's death, the Muppets just did not do. Even Statler and Waldorf's heckling doesn't push that button for me. The Muppets shouldn't be capable of that kind of interpersonal cruelty. And that's important enough to me that I can't watch something like Avenue Q (much less Actual Puppet Horror) without getting sick to my stomach.
But *thus far*, the horror elements of Welcome Home haven't gotten to me in the same way. And I think it's because... Clown respects that aspect of the children's puppet genre?
Like, I know we're still in early days, and That One Fucking Picture Of Maisie freaks me the fuck out (for, uh, different reasons). But so far, it seems like at least part of the horror aspect... Is that innocence, and how it can't survive contact with humanity.
So far, at least in the newest version of WH, we've seen very little to indicate that the Home crew's joy and innocence aren't genuine. Everyone has Depths to their character, obviously, that can't be plumbed without going into the Gruesome Shit. But like.... with the possible exception of Wally, they don't seem Cruel. Fuck, even Wally seems Oblivious and Earnest, just... willing to do horrible things for the sake of Keeping Home Intact.
And that LACK of malice is ironically where the horror comes in! Because the sunny days of a kids' puppet show can't survive contact with a reality where people are cruel and ableist and homophobic, and once the show ends, there's nothing left but that reality... and everything falls apart.
Agh, I don't know. I might have to drop this fandom if I get that button pushed too many times. But for now, it's interesting to see an adult take on the genre that isn't gleefully mean and disrespectful towards one of the things I love about puppets.

WELCOME HOME SPOILERS

WALLY IN HIS BETA OUTFIT IN THE EGGNOG COMMERCIAL?!?
Is his beta outfit now just another one of his alternate outfits, or does it actually mean something? (*cough*Imadeadog*cough*)
I know there were some pictures of Wally in his beta outfit in the site’s artwork carousel. But to my knowledge, Clown drew those pictures before he redesigned Wally and gave him his current outfit with the blue cardigan and striped pants, which I believe occurred sometime in early 2022, as these pictures had also been posted on his social media before then.
…And if that’s the case, this is the only instance post- Wally’s redesign where he is specifically depicted wearing the same outfit worn by his beta counterpart.
Maybe Wally is going to end up being more like his past self than we may have originally expected…
