10 characters 10 fandoms - tagged by @kiki-strike
this is rlly hard actually oof help me,,, some of these aren't gonna be actual fandoms just things I like because I NEED TO HAVE TEN. No particular order. 1 - Jackieboyman from ALTRVERSE because he's so blorbo LOOK AT HIM GOOOOO also he reminds me of me and also he reminds me of Seán and also he reminds me of spiderman and I like all of those things. He's so silly too!!! silly little man!!! silly littyle guy!!!!!
2 -Zim from invader zim :p funny little guy yells a lot. also though so fucked up mentally like oh my god. something is so wrong with him /pos
3 - Pomni from the Amazing Digital Circus because she's so panicy and blorbo and I want to help her and give her a hug. She's so wet dog you know? She's so big sad eyed. She's so.... just..... *sqeezes her like a stress toy and hugs her and does a little spin going "wheeeee" and wraps her in a towl because she's sopping wet* you knOW??????!!!!
4 - AUDIE FROM ANIMAL CROSSING. SHE'S AN ICON SHE'S A LEGEND SHE'S A BADASS SHE'S A GIRLBOSS SHE'S A POPSTAR SHE'S A TAX FRAUD COMMITING QUEEN WITH A QURKY PERSONALITY AND SHE'S MY BESTIE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! we commit crimes together we slay together we're so alike and we're so in sync and we're ready to rule the fucking world and do a million concerts forever
5. Karkat from homestuck because he's angey and his name rhymes with kitkat- I can't eat kitkats because of allergies so I live vicariously through his name. and I like his hair and his overal design. Also I like how he's actually v supportive of his friends and smart. short king
6. Rarity from My Little Pony because while Pinkie Pie is defenitely who I'd pick if I was choosing who like, represents me or who I gell with, or maybe rainbow dash & fluttershy for the gelling with/getting along thing (stares at Seán <3), I also rlly appreciate rarity's drama and her artistry and how she's glamorous. I guess there's just a lot of media demonizing femininity and as much as she comes off as prissy to people I've grown to realize that a lot of that is just that she's easily frustrated/upset/angered and also like cares about her appearance, neither of which is like evil or anything. She's actually reminds me of me in that way because I have a short fuse both for crying and deciding to like bite people so like. same girl. She gets a bad rep and I don't think she deserves it. we stan her for that reason. support ur local diva
7. Fizarolli from Helluva Boss because he's the next thing came to my head. don't interact with the fandom at all actually!!! but we watch the show and Fizz is like, pretty pog. he's poggers. I like his design and I like that he's blorbo.
8. Bocchi from bocchi the rock. MECOREMECOREMECORE because of the spiraling and "the world is ending" but then SEÁNCORE SEÁNCORE SO HIMCORE because she's socially anxious and can't talk to people. Both of us see her and go "wow me". our shared kin if we had a kinlist. Holding hands over her.
9. Yui from K-ON. Listen to me listen to me shakes you by the shoulders LISTEN. Literally me. me. ME.
10. OH MY GOD VIRGIL??? ANXIETY???? FROM SANDERS SIDES???? He reminds me of Seán and also he has so much character growth and development over time and I just rlly feel like we as an audience get to know and understand him better than anyone else really so it creates a sense of closeness with the character that like. Of course he's the fan favourite!! not just because he's edgy but also because he's someone people know and can understand as a character really well, can write fics well and make comics well, can see themselves talking to or hanging out with. or arguing with if they wouldn't get along IRL. It's a stacked deck right now I feel like. although,,, roman is so close in that #2 spot so he might just overtake asuming he can both get an actual episode where he breaks down finally and also that I don't end up still picking virgil because "my husband is an anxious emo boy too omg!!!"
yeah um. um. anyway tags are hard and I don't wanna annoy anyone so um I will jus end here :3 but if you WANT to do it and no one's tagged you just say I tagged you and do it, I'll help u out girliepop bestie pogchamp slay king

WROTE A TINY BIT OF ANGST BC I HAD AN IDEA.... ABOUT TACOS
TW DEATH MENTION
so gir is not in my fic, i love him dearly but i needed the boys to be able to spend a LOT of alone time together and having gir around is basically like having a 3 year old who has access to explosives yknow??? how are they supposed to do difficult self work when they can't turn their head for two minutes without someone's pet (or child) being eaten?????
i plan for gir to come back AFTER the events of the fic, but as far as zim knows, gir was sadly disposed of.
zim nuzzles dib's cheek but a smell catches his attention, and he sticks his nose up to dib's mouth
when did you have tacos?! youve never made ME tacos!!
hey-- but zim...! last time i offered, you got really upset, remember...?
...
will you make me some?
yeah, of course.
there's tension, but dib cooks a big plate for zim and eats with him. zim wolfs his food down, it's clearly delicious, but as he eats, dib eventually notices tears filling zim's eyes.
zim starts to sniff as his tears overflow, and he swallows whats in his mouth before sitting still and staring, his expression slowly filling with despair. his hands were pressed in half fists against the top of his thighs and his posture is very stiff. he's clearly trying to hold back, but... the tears stream down his face, and soon he was sobbing, his eyes squeezing shut as he turned his face downward. his voice was filled with pain as the gate holding back his grief was finally broken, and he cried hard. it was hard to watch.
so it really was true... gir was gone. dib felt awful for zim, seeing him like this. he'd never been this vulnerable in front of him before. dib soon reached up to the blanket that was on the back of the couch and pulled it over zim's head. zim quickly grabbed onto the blanket and pulled it around himself, covering his face and hunching over into a slouch as he continued to shake and sob. dib reflexively rubbed zim's upper back. he wasn't sure what would help him, but this was definitely something zim needed to get out. he sat quietly, continuing to rub his friend's back as he listened to him cry, hoping it would convey that he was there for zim. zim sounded so hopelessly distraught, tears were pricking his own eyes now. gir had truly been zim's only companion for over a decade, dib wished he knew what happened. but almost like he could sense the question, zim spoke between strained breaths, his voice cracked and uneven.
"I don't know what happened...! All of a sudden one day, my whole base was gone, minimoose was gone, and gir was gone...!!"
So that was it. My god... How cruel. zim's leaders must have had something to do with it, it sounded too much like a punishment.
"Zim..." Dib didn't know what to say. he just stayed close, kept his hand moving. eventually, the torrent of zim's sadness finally started to ebb, little by little. to dib's surprise, he felt zim shift towards him, and felt grasping hands. zim still wouldn't show his face, but his head pressed up against dib's chest, and dib's arms were wrapped around him before dib gave it a second thought. carefully he held zim tight against himself as he slowly leaned back until he was resting reclined against the couch with zim in a curled heap on his lap. zim still shook with the occasional gasping sob, and dib let him take his time, never letting go of him.

zim x irken!reader based on the trial? the reader being a higher up that wants to save him (the tallest liking them would be an extra point)
Tumblr media
Yes!!! I love this!
This came out waaay more angsty than I intended.
Be warned: There’s self sacrifice and attempted execution ahead!
Here’s the song I used btw
You felt your squeedilyspooch churn as you landed on Judgementia.
You didn’t know why you were so surprised.
It was only a matter of time before  Zim would have an Existence Evaluation.
As much as you hated to admit it, Zim was responsible for some of the worst tragedies on Irk.
From causing a massive blackout on planet, Devestus, to nearly annihilating their entire civilization during Operation Impending Doom 1; You should’ve expected this to happen a long long time ago.
Nevertheless, the mere thought of Zim having an Existence Evaluation made you burst into tears.
In spite of his numerous sins, you knew Zim never meant to cause so much trouble.
All Zim ever wanted to do was prove he was worthy of respect.
The life of a short Irken was filed with ridicule and discrimination.  You could never even imagine what it felt like to be as short as Zim.
He was even shorter than Skoodge!
It was a miracle he didn’t end up a Table-headed Service drone nor The Tallest’s personal foot stool.
You thanked your lucky stars you had the privilege to train with him.
Despite all the hateful words flung his way, you quickly learned that all of them were untrue.
From the moment you met Zim, you knew he was someone extraordinary.
He had more passion, determination, perseverance, and loyalty than anyone else.
Zim fought tooth and claw every day just to prove that he was just as worthy as anyone else.
And you deeply admired him for that.
No matter what anyone else said, you always stood by Zim’s side.
You cheered him on during training, you patched up his wounds, you even listened to him vent about his day.
Whenever Zim said he’d be a Tallest someday, you genuinely believed him.
He may have been short, but by god did he have the spirit of a leader.
Over time, you and Zim begun to fall in love.
Unfortunately, due to the drastic height difference, you and Zim had to keep the relationship a secret.
As time went on, you became the highest ranking general the Irken Army had to offer and Zim became an Invader.
You couldn’t have been more proud of him! You always knew he was destined for greatness!
Even after the catastrophe that was Operation Impending Doom 1, you still never gave up on Zim.
Unfortunately, the rest of the Empire didn’t feel the same.
Not one little bit
You thought that once Zim had been banished to the far reaches of the Galaxy he would be safe!
However, Red and Purple had been planning Zim’s Existence Evaluation for quite some time now.
You tried to talk them out if it. After all, Red and Purple adored you. You were so sure they’d listen.
Oh how wrong you were.
Red and Purple simply laughed in your face and thought you were joking.
As much as you wanted to fight for Zim, you didn’t want to upset Red and Purple.
Despite their trashy behavior, Red and Purple were still The Tallest and you had to respect them whether you liked it or not.
And you really really didn’t like it.
Neither Red nor Purple had any business being in a leadership position.
Both of them were arrogant, selfish, and childish.
They didn’t give a sandworm’s last whisker about Irk! All they cared about was snacks and which poor Navigator to yell at.
You always hated being invited to ‘oversee’ their ‘projects’.
You knew damn well that was just code for asking you on a date.
You could usually get away with declining but not today.
Every Irken was required to be present for an Existence Evaluation.
And you were given a front row seat.
You dragged your feet as you slunk inside the judgement hall.
“Hey Y/N! Over here!”
The sound of Purple’s excited voice woke you from your thoughts.
You jumped a bit before scurrying over to his side.
“Ah! Y/N! Glad you could make it. This Existence Evaluation wouldn’t nearly be as enjoyable without you.” Red purred as he floated over to you.
“But it would still be pretty enjoyable. After all, Zim’s totally going to be deleted!” Purple chuckled.
“Yeah! We’ll finally be rid of him!”
Red and Purple burst into a loud fit of laughter while you fought back the urge to cry.
Had they really no shame? Not even the tiniest inkling of remorse?
You held your tongue as you turned your attention to the center of the hall.
The Control Brains loomed ominously over The Spike of Judgement as they waited fir Zim’s arrival.
You always hated those dumb Brains.
Their rules were always so ridiculous!
In fact it was their very rules that stood in the way between you and Zim!
You tried not to scowl as you took in a deep breath.
FWUMP!
Zim was tossed into the center of the Spike of Judgment.
He looked a bit bruised and confused but other than that Zim seemed fine.
“ZIM, YOUR TIME HAS COME. PREPARE FOR ALL YOU DESERVE,” The first Control Brain bellowed.
Zim jumped a bit as he felt a shudder run down his spine.
“Eh?! Oh! A surprise party?! That’s what this was all about?! I was wondering why I was beaten up and transported from Earth to this place! A party for Zim!”
Zim sounded cheerful but you knew that nothing could be further from the truth.
You could see the panic radiate from his beautiful magenta eyes.
He was simply in denial to protect his mind from the truth.
“SILENCE! ALL WILL BE MADE CLEAR ZIM.” The first Brain bellowed, almost sounding annoyed.
“Geez this is a party, lighten up!” Zim huffed as he rolled his eyes, “Hey can I make a quick call?”
The guards exchanged annoyed glances before begrudgingly agreeing.
After a few minutes, Zim returned to the center of the Spike of Judgement.
“C’mon hurry up and praise me! Every second I spend off Earth is time lost! Zim time! Because I am Zim!!”
“IT MAKES NOISES.” The second Control Brain bellowed.
“BOTHERSOME NOISES” Replied the third.
Zim looked over and let out an excited gasp.
“My Tallest! And Y/N! This really *is* a surprise party! You honor me greatly on the most wobbly gelatinous parts of my squeedilyspooch!”
You let out a whimper as you turned away from Zim’s excited grin.
“That’s Zim! Start already!” Purple commanded.
And with that, The Control Brains plugged into Zim’s PAK and begun the Evaluation.
You watched Zim’s memories playback on a large monitor next to The Control Brains.
While Zim did indeed commit quite a few atrocities, most if not all of them were the result of accidents.
It wasn’t long before Zim realized what was going on.
After a comical escape attempt, Zim was dragged back to Judgementia and plugged back into the Control Brains.
“OUR RULING: ZIM’S I.D PAK IS DAMAGED AND HAS LED TO A CORRUPT DATA PATH. HE IS...A DEFECTIVE!” The first Control Brain bellowed.
“But..I can’t live without my PAK!” Zim wailed.
Purple opened his mouth to speak but you cut him off.
“WAIT!! Almighty Control  Brains! Please spare him!”
The entire room gasped before falling silent.
“IT DARES TO DEFIE US?” Asked The second brain
“HOW FOOLISH” replied the third.
“Y/N ARE YOU CRA-“
“GENERAL Y/N. STATE WHY ZIM’S I.D PAK SHOULD NOT BE DELETED.” The first Brain ordered “YOU HAVE ONE MINUTE”
You cleared your throat and took in a deep breath.
“Almighty Control Brains, while it’s true that Zim has committed many atrocities, I believe these atrocities to be the result of mere accidents and not the result of a damaged PAK. Therefore I propose that Zim train in my boot camp in order to correct these mistakes!” Your voice was laced with a slight plea as a few tears trickled down your cheeks.
The first Control Brain hummed for a moment.
“YOUR OFFER SOUNDS INTERESTING....”
Both you and Zim lit up but it was way too early to celebrate.
“HOWEVER IT SHALL BE DENIED.”
“WHAT?!” You and Zim exclaimed in unison.
In a last ditch effort to save Zim you cried out.
“If you won’t accept my offer than delete my PAK instead!”
Another gasp echoed throughout the hall as Purple fainted into Red’s arms.
“Y/N NO! ARE YOU INSANE?!” Zim yelped.
In spite of everyone’s protests you continued.
“My PAK data is just as damaged if not more so than Zim’s! I am one of the few Irkens capable of feeling compassion and,” you looked into Zim’s eyes, “.......affection...”
“IT WISHES TO SACRIFICE ITS LIFE FOR THE DEFECTIVE’S?” Asked the second Brain.
“THIS ONE TRULY IS FOOLISH.” The third Brain tutted.
The first Control Brain almost seemed surprised
“GENERAL Y/N, ARE YOU CERTAIN YOU WISH TO SACRIFICE YOUR PAK DATA IN EXCHANGE FOR ZIM’S?”
“Y/N NO-ACK!”
ZAP!
Zim was cut of by a shock from the first Brain.
“Yes! Yes I am! Just as long as you spare Zim!” You pleaded as you looked into the many eyes of the first Brain.
“Y/N NO-“ Red cried out
“VERY WELL. IN EXCHANGE FOR GENERAL Y/N’S PAK DATA, ZIM
SHALL BE SPARED FOR NOW.” The first Brain interjected.
“Y/N!!!!! NOOOOO!!!!” Zim wailed as the first Brain released his PAK.
FWIP!
CLANG!
The first Brain latched on to your PAK and dragged you to the center of the spike of Judges.
“Control Brains! Stop this at once! General Y/N is not a defective!” Red pleaded as a few tears trickled down his cheeks.
“THE DECISION HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE. COMMENCING DELETION PROTOCOL!”
With another ZAP! You felt the life slowly drain from your PAK.
Zim let out a panicked cry and shoved past the guards.
“Y/N! Why...Why would you do this?! Why would you something so stupid?!”
You gave Zim a sad smile and caressed his face.
“Because I love you....”
With a soft sniffle you gazed deeply into Zim’s magenta eyes.
“One day you will realize...The stars you are chasing shine bright deep inside you...but will you ever let it shine from within... And cast all your fears aside... You’ll see the light but until that day comes...”
Zim burst into tears as he desperately clung to your gentle hands.
You winced but still tried to keep a smile.
“My dearly beloved, be strong I shall be there. Always here beside you. So keep your head held high..”
Zim tried his best to hold you close as you kept singing.
“The shadows of this world will try to steal you away into their arms but you belong in mine...”
You returned the hug and let out a soft purr.
“We are one within a dream, so hold me close and count the stars with me... All our scattered memories... I will find the pieces one by one..”
Zim clung to you for dear life.
The Control Brains lifted you up in a poor attempt to shake Zim off of you, only fir him to cling tighter.
“Solar flares fly over me... I’ll keep you in my memory...”
You and Zim were gently spinning in the air.
If Red didn’t know any better he’d assumed you and Zim had planned this as some kind of elaborate performance before Zim was deleted.
“This dream that lives within your eyes, I wish to see it come to life.”
Both you and Zim were in tears as the song continued
“A thousand blades into the sky, reach out and link our worlds, yours and mine. Let the stars rush over you. And one day I know we shall meet again!”
“My dearly beloved, be strong I shall be there. Always here beside you. So keep your head held high. The shadows of this world will try to steal you away into their arms but you belong in mine! ” Zim’s desperate plea melted with your voice.
You pulled Zim into a gentle kiss and sung softly.
“My dearly beloved...”
Just as you felt your last spark of life start to fade-
CRACK! CRASH!
Zim pulled with all his might and tore you free from The first Brain’sclutches.
Wasting no time, Zim scooped you up into his arms, hopped into his Voot and took you back to Earth with him.
Once he made it back to his base, he immediately hooked your PAK up to a medical bay.
After days of tedious labor, your F/C eyes finally opened.
“Y/N! You’re ok!” Tears of joy spilled down Zim’s cheeks as he caressed your face.
“Zim? I... I’m alive?” Your voice was dry and scratchy.
“Yes! So very much alive!”
You let out a soft laugh.
“I knew we’d meet again...”
“Yes! And I’ll never ever let you leave my side!” Zim sobbed as he gently held you close.
“Don’t worry, I promise I’ll never leave you again, My dearly beloved

Breaking Dawn, Part Four:  HOLD ON HOPE
Tumblr media
The entities of emotion were, to many a race, creation deities. They had beget many a species, including the Irken race, a race born from a union of Intelligence and Will.
And now the species born from Hope was poised to end the Irken race. High above the planet Irk, aiding the Resisty ships as countless others formed a blockade to cut off Irk from the rest of the galaxy, it appeared as though all of Irk's hopes laid in the Wing, the host to Hope, herself an Irken...
"Please." She insisted, clasping her hands together, getting on bent knee before the Meekrob race as the "lighties" hovered before her. The rest of the Resisty stood behind her, Lard Nar frowning slightly. He had had reservations originally about having her join his crew, but she'd proven invaluable, gentle, and above all, considerate. She had owed the Resisty a debt after they'd saved her life...and she'd repaid it time and time again. Now she asked for clemency...
"Can't we give them half a year?" Lard Nar finally asked. "...I don't like the idea of giving the Irkens much time, but just a few months to surrender?" He went on, waving his hands in the air. "It's only fair."
"Would THEY give YOUR race the same mercy?" The leader of the Meekrob growled in its ethereal voice. Sarong was not a kindly being by nature. "DID they give your race half a year to submit before they pitilessly invaded, foul little BUGS that they are?"
"...aren't we supposed to be better than the bugs?" A third voice spoke up, as they turned to see two people stepping off a teleportal pad, dusting themselves off. "The Massive's been moved. Sold. Fresh off the market and on it's way to a very, VERY happy customer."
"Well, THAT would put a smile on my face had I a face!" Sarong laughed. "...alright. I'll give the Irkens a MONTH to surrender to our blockade, to come over to our way of thinking. Get the message out." The phantom-esque glowing being demanded, turning his head to his people as they moved along with the Resisty to the communications relay. "I sincerely HOPE...for your people's sake...they do the smart thing and give in." Sarong told the Wing.
"I have faith that they will make the right choice in the end." The Wing said as she stood up, nodding firmly, moving majestically back to her quarters as she laid down on her bed, noticing her room's communication was going off. She picked up the phone, listening intently. "Yes?"
"...milady, it's me."
The Wing's eyes went wide as the Entity of Hope shimmered overhead. "Turn up the volume, quick." It asked.
"What's happening?"
"The worst, that's what. My friends tapped into your powers with the Exemplar rings. I NEED access to Hope. I need a way to break a hold that Two has over Earth's Avatar of Will, Dilbert Membrane. Otherwise he won't have a fighting chance and...and kids are gonna die."
"I'll be happy to assist, but what of the Entity of Will? Have you contacted it?"
"I don't know where it IS, only you, Compassion and Love are on my speed dial...I don't suppose any others have appeared that could be of help?"
"...the Entity of Corrupted Passion, Rage. He's appeared, but he...he won't help. Not yet. We need to have faith in Sude, who is still bonding with his own host."
"They need to hurry. YOU need to hurry."
"I'll do what I can. I must ask though...you'll need a deputy to assist you. Dib is the Pillar of Will on Earth, is he not?"
"And Gaz is Rage, yes. And you wanna know if there's one for Hope on the Base Planet? Yes. And you know him."
"Who?"
"Skoodge."
The Wing chuckled. "Oh, Skoodge, that dear little soldier. Such a cheery soul. Always looking forward, always devoted. Yes...yes, I don't think we need to worry, Frequency..."
The Wing and Entity of Hope, Psyche, smiled.
"ALL WILL BE WELL.”
Dib paced around in front of his classroom, sighing as he held his hands behind his back, chewing his lip. The Principal had announced that everyone was to leave the school building in an orderly fashion, one class at a time due to a bomb scare.
Naturally, everyone thought Dib or his sister had something to do with it. Mostly because Zim and his weird "cousin", Skoodge, wasn't in class to be pointed and hissed at. M"Alright. I am about to tell you the explanation but if I know you all...and I DO..."
He rolled his eyes at this. "You're all so ignorant you won't believe it. So here goes. A psychotic alien forced a magical kind of ring on me and my sister. He turned us into Manchurian agents that would have decimated the school around lunchtime due to a trigger he put in us. I'm still not entirely sure why. But you aren't buying ANY of that, are you?"
All of the class looked at each other, blinked, and most of them broke out into laughter. Gretchen just sighed, leaning back in her chair, head hung low as Dib sighed and pinched the space between his eyes, chewing on his lip again. "...all right, fine. Nevermind. Moot point, anyhow." God they're all IDIOTS! I'm surrounded by ID! I! OTS!
"Moot point indeed." A voice, filled with snarling rage, a faint laugh lingering in the air called out.
KRUCHA-THROOOOOM! The wall was practically shattered as Two barreled through it, encased in a red energy aura, slamming Dib through the wall on the other side, windows and wall shattering. Soon the class, in fact, the whole school was watching as Dib was sent sprawling across the football field of the High Skool, Two standing tall, fists clenched as red energy rippled from his body.
"Ah, RAGE." Two laughed. "The "Passion" turned dark just like "Diligence" became "Avarice"! A step up, in my humble opinion. See, unlike Miyu, who's off to visit my daddy dearest here in town, I don't "want it all". Nah. I think smaller. I'll just settle for my existence restored to stability as your world is transformed into MINE."
He leapt through the air, fist flying, but Dib managed to roll out of the way, Two growling angrily. "Forgot, I gave you until after lunch to have most of your will back...and I DO suppose stripping any chance you have of fighting back against me would be cheating." Two mused as Dib leaped to his feet, pointing his ring at Two.
"GO!" He yelled out.
Tiny little sparks jutted out, wisps of green slipping to the ground...but nothing. Nothing happened.
"Then again..." Two laughed, his knee going squarely into Dib's gut, knocking Dib to the football field's grass below as he cracked his neck before delivering ANOTHER kick to Dib's side, "I also have kept you from using your ring. So it's hardly a fair fight. I LIKE these odds."
THWUH-THWUCK! Dib was rolled over onto his side as Two knelt down, grabbing his throat. "I...am going to beat you so...so...badly. I'll make this last. And then, after I've stopped by this lovely Chinese restaurant in town for some noodles..." The alien leered, his golden eyes glittering like a dark fire. "I'm going to come back, have you and your sister burn this whole place down with everyone in it, and make sure you're conscious through it all. See, I WAS going to strip your consciousness from your body after this, but frankly...I think me leaving you helpless, trapped inside your own body has a certain poetic CRUELTY to it, wouldn't you say?"
He sniggered darkly, throttling Dib with his clawed hands. "Ooh, I LOVE me when I'm NASTY."
KRA-THROOMP! Two was knocked clean through the air as Gaz lowered the bench she'd carried from the end of the football field, folding her arms down at Dib. "Get up, you idiot. If ANYBODY'S gonna kick your ass, it's me and me alone."
"Thanks, Gaz!" Dib said, laughing with relief as he stood up and made to hug his dear sister, arms stretching wide. I-"
"If you get REMOTELY sentimental I'm feeding you your own nose." Gaz said swiftly, Dib shutting up and turning to face Two as he stood up, nursing a bleeding head as he frowned at them.
"Gaz...almost forgot about you. You know..." He rubbed his chin. "...you look so much like my great aunt, at least, from what the old photo albums showed of her. How'd she die again? Lab accident?"
Gaz turned pale at this. Not with fear, though. This was pure, undiluted grief running through her as Two dusted himself off.
How does he know about Mom? Dib thought.
It had been an ordinary day. Well...as ordinary as life with Prof. Membrane GETS. Peggy Membrane was listening to him speak about his latest invention in his laboratory as Dib, age 7, and Gaz, age 5, stood nearby in the Professor's considerably larger-on-the-inside-than-it-was-the-outside garage laboratory was lighted up.
"How uh...how does...this...um..." Dib asked again as Prof. Membrane strode by him, a strange, bulbous helmet atop his head as he fiddled around with a screwdriver and a control pad in his long, black-gloved hands. He was wearing his large labcoat...he ALWAYS wore his labcoat in the lab, but never in the house, thank God. Peggy always said it smelled too much like plastic.
"Compression technology." The professor laughed. "Shrinking something very, very, VERY big and compacting it into a pocket dimension, I'M A
GENIUS!" He hovered in the air, lightning splitting the air around him as Peggy quickly snatched Gaz away from an accidental bolt that almost singed her hair. "Sorry, I've GOT to be more careful about where I gloat, my dear." Matthew Membrane told "Pegster", taking the helmet off and motioning for his family to come by a table with several vats nearby labeled "DANGEROUS: EXPLODING CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS! DO! NOT! OPEN! SUPER-SERIOUSLY!" written over them.
"What's that?" Peggy inquired, pointing at his latest invention, what appeared to be some kind of mechanical clip for the hair. "You told me your invention was SMALL and unassuming but...you DO know somebody's already invented these Bluetooth things, right?" Peggy laughed.
"My dear, it's a device that lets me speak any language! Even to animals!" Prof. Membrane laughed, pulling on a lever nearby as several cages filled with animals popped up from beneath the floor, all of them looking at the family.
"Ooh, big kitty!" Gaz said, pointing at the tiger as Dib looked at a snake. It began to hiss, it's eyes almost...glowing?
Prof. Membrane quickly led Dib away from the cage, the snake cursing under its breath as Membrane held the strange, segmented clip up, giving it to Peggy. "Put it in your hair. It will transmit signals to your brain, to the part centering around language recognition. All barriers are broken down INSTANTLY! The aftereffects have been odd...something of a shared link...I talked with that bunny yesterday and after that I kept thumping my foot against the ground for half an hour."
Peggy put the clip in her hair and stared at said bunny as it chuckled. "Ooh, have I got a carrot for YOU!" It said, giggling immaturely.
"OH!" Peggy clasped the sides of her face with her hands, gasping. "You little!" She waved her finger at it and took the clip off. "Maybe I should go find a nice CAT or something to talk to." She told her husband. "Here you go, Matt."
She tossed it back to him and he stepped back to catch it...
And he went knocking into a plank that had a small vat of "Exploding Chemical Compounds" placed on the other end. Like a catapult, the small vat was launched through the air at a stunned Peggy as Dib looked up in horror, eyes widening, Gaz's mouth beginning to open in a gasp as Matthew Membrane watched most of his wife become a sloughed pile of flesh...
He never took off the lab coat after that...there was always a tiny bit of Peggy still lingering on the edges of his collar...
A tiny bit of Peggy lingering in his heart.
In ALL of their hearts...
"Do you know what rage TRULY is? The most powerful kind of hatred ISN'T born from ignorance or prejudice or from a perceived threat. Oh no." The alien waved a claw in the air. "Those are Fear in disguise. The real fire that fuels the burning hatred of rage...is personal loss. That's why I wear the red."
Two held his fist up as Gaz and Dib readied themselves, Gaz shaking angrily. "You lost your mother, you must have felt so unhappy, so ANGRY. You didn't understand. Why, why did it have to happen? And I think you blamed your father...and a tiny bit of you blamed your brother, because neither one of them were strong enough to help."
Gaz opened her mouth to say something, but then closed her eyes and clenched her fists, holding them tightly to her sides. "...that's...it wasn't MY fault...somebody had to...somebody had to take the blame. I LOVED...her." She whispered out. "...I LOVED her so...so much..."
"...my own mother is slowly dying. WILL die if my world isn't returned." Two told them softly.
"Then you know how I felt. Then you know that if I had the power...I would have done anything, ANYTHING to get her back." Gaz asked in her dark, accusing tone. "I have that power now...you FORCED it on me, but with you dead and gone, and me with this power..."
She held up her ring, grinning coldly. "I WILL find a way. I'm smart, and I'm tough...and there's not a kid in the world who wouldn't burn it all down if it meant getting back his mommy."
"Oh, Gaz..." Two whispered softly, almost sadly. "You couldn't have described me any better."
And with that, he launched himself at them, claws held high.
...
...
...
... "So..." Nick inquired, his county-boy accent thick and homely as he sat down on the pink, fluffy couch with the squat Irken Invader Skoodge at Zim's house, Zim having gone off to the Radioshack to pick up "supplies" as GIR did his own "private thing" in the laboratory. "If Mr. Billingsly is the sleaziest, number one backstabbing lover in all the town, why's he defending this gal off the street? Reckon it don't make no sense." He asked Skoodge, who was, before you ask, NOT in any disguise.
Oh no, Invader Skoodge, short, fat and cuddly Invader Skoodge, was "au naturale", ladies and gents...well, except for the clothes he was wearing, his usual maroon Invader's attire with that mysterious splotch lingering on his stomach.
"It's because before he got amnesia, William Billingsly was the sleaziest number-one LAWYER in Dawson County!" Skoodge explained, waving a gloved hand in the air as Nick passed the chocolate-covered popcorn GIR had made over to him, Skoodge tossing a handful into his mouth.
He liked having the human over. It got so boring, just being stuck in Zim's basement. This way he could talk about human soap operas like "Kissy-Kissy-Boo-Boo" AND wrestling programs like "Skull Squisher" all he wanted and with somebody who wasn't too "busy" or "stupid" to care about either one. Plus, in the event he ever said too much about Irken culture, he'd just erase Nick's memories with a little mini-squid Zim had developed to be attached to people's heads.
...again.
Yeah, he'd tested out a LOT of things on Nick and-oh. Skoodge grimly frowned as Nick took off his cap, scratching at the...
He couldn't bear to look at it. Skoodge looked away, almost puking up the popcorn he'd gobbled down as Nick decided to use the bathroom, promising to come back with soda from the kitchen as Skoodge sighed, turning his head slowly back to the television. Nice kid, that Nick. Stupid, yeah, but nice. Even before what Zim had done to him.
...that had been...
Skoodge was a trained and experienced invader. He did not ever take his job personally, and he understood that Dib had his own duty to save the planet just as he had a duty to help Zim take it over. It was, on an intellectual level, sad. In another time and place, he might have been capable of being friends with the humans. It was somewhat sad he never could be. There was a lot about this world he liked. And he was beginning to fall into an enjoyable rhythm, just staying here on Earth, hanging out.
Maybe...one day...maybe this would feel like his real home. Maybe one day he'd fine that thing he needed to make him want to stay forever. Maybe one day he WOULD be friends, and there wouldn't be a need for this back-and-forth, and they could just...BE. He was fine with waiting. He was good at that...the waiting and the hoping.
Heck, truth be told, even ZIM was beginning to fall into a steady pattern. A new plan every week instead of every day, and there was a faint camaraderie between he and the Dib-human. Sometimes, Skoodge, he could swear Zim LIKED being continuously beaten. LIKED being stuck here, constantly plotting.
Heck, GIR liked Earth plenty, Skoodge thought to himself as he snuck over to the linen closet and pulled it open, a monitor revealing what was occurring in the laboratory downstairs. GIR was dancing around, a disco ball hanging overhead as lights sprayed around, the little robot posing and singing as he strutted his stuff.
Can't read my, can't read my, No he can't read my Poker Face!
"She aint' got to love nobody!" GIR sang out, waving his butt in the air before he whipped around, holding his arms behind his head and shaking his groove thing.
Can't read my, can't read my, No he can't read my Poker Face!
Yep, nothing changed around here, Skoodge thought to himself as he closed the door, returning to the couch and turning back to the television. The state of normalcy: sitting and waiting for something to happen, and usually, it did. In the end. Things tended to work out in the end, Skoodge thought to himself as he popped some more chocolate popcorn in his mouth. He just had to keep where he was. Stay happy. Keep believing...
He stiffened suddenly, as a voice called out to him, a faint accent lingering in it as he slowly turned his head, looking upon a blue-furred being that had stepped into the living room. It wore a blue cap with a strange white symbol on it's head, and blue shorts to match with a special ring in one hand...a ring with a blue symbol upon it that was being offered to him. To HIM.
"Skoodge of Irk." Frequency said cheerily. "Stoic ol' Skoodge. You have the ability to feel great hope."
He put the ring in Skoodge's hand and Skoodge slowly slipped it on, eyes widening. It felt so natural...like he'd been missing a limb all his life, forced to wear a prosthetic but now gaining back his old hand...
Meanwhile, a maroon-eyed, green-skinned being, Invader Zim himself, was walking back from Radio Shack to his house, his arms filled with sacks full to the brim of technical material he needed for his latest plan.
"Brilliant, BRILLIANT! I'll transform pigs into half-human slaves, rounding up humans and overriding their genetic code with my own glorious Irken DNA!" Zim laughed to himself. "Irken and human fused together and at my command, I'll build a new Irken Empire right here on Planet Earth!"
He blinked suddenly, frowning as he put down his bags and scratched his head. "Wait. I'm TALKING TO MYSELF...vrik na tishanti!" He cursed. "I'm becoming too much like the Dib-Stink." He sighed and reached into his maroon outfit, pulling out a small notepad from within. "And have I already done something like this lately? Better check the list."
He took out a pen that popped up from his PAK, flipping through the notebook. "Hmm. Fiddle with gravity in school...launching chickens into outer space...replacing organs with STUFF...launching COWS into outer space...launching GHOST INSPECTORS into outer space...oh. "Turn dogs into dog-people". Ah, DOGS, not pigs. Yep, this'll work!"
"Observation: You always had a knack for such ideas. Insanely brilliant...they called you mad." A metallic, yet distinctly feminine voice rang out, making Zim whip his head in its direction as he saw a robotic female approach him, black-outfit making her look VERY slim, with a red helm over her head and tipless white gloves showing off almost Irken-like long clawed fingers. "But madness is merely genius to a small mind, and when compared to you, most organics have small minds."
"...what ARE you? Explain yourself!" Zim demanded angrily, pointing at her. "Tell Zim!"
"Explanation: I have an offer for you." The woman said. "I am Miyu. I ask this..."
She held up a ring in her finger...a faint orange glow to it.
"Join my corps."

...The kids of the school were watching, their teachers unable to get them to leave as they saw Gaz and Dib struggling with Two, who kept flinging them around the football field, kicking and punching them whenever they got close enough. Dib had managed to bust one of Two's cheek bones, and Gaz had delivered, WAS delivering-
"YOOOOOWWW-OOOOOOH-HOOOO-HOOOO-HOOOO!"
Ooooch. Gaz fought DIRTY. Two staggered back, flailing out with his ring as a medieval torture rack attached itself via energy construct to Gaz, trying to stretch her out as Dib struggled to break her free, Two cradling his sore crotch. "Y-you dirty little...GAAAAH..."He muttered out.
"You're just going to stand there and watch them suffer like that?" Gretchen asked the others as Ms. Bitters calmly looked up from her copy of "Beyond Good and Evil", "harrumphed" and went back to reading. The rest of the class looked around at each other, almost hesitant.
"We can't just stand here and WATCH!" Gretchen insisted angrily, waving her arms in the air. "We've gotta DO something! ANYTHING to help them!"
"That thing can shoot finger-beams. What're WE gonna do?" The Letter M asked, scratching his head as Poonchy nodding in agreement.
"Oooooh. He just made a shark." Zita called out as Dib yelled for his life, climbing one of the football poles as Two danced in victory, Gaz being beaten up by a cheer-leading team he'd summoned forth with his ring, Gaz swearing to rip off Two's head and make him eat it later. Somehow.
She could do it, you know! She TOTALLY could!
"GRAAAAH!" Gretchen tugged at her hair, exiting the room and stomping out into the hallway-
Running into a beautiful-looking being who was standing by the Guidance Counselor. Her eyes widened as the Guidance Counselor nodded at the angel.
"This is her."
"I'm surprised you figured it out."
"I spent years around the Entity of Love. I know souls filled with it. And her love for Dib has marked her."
The Beautiful Angel stepped forward, putting something in Gretchen's hand. "You won't remember us. Nobody in this school will remember us, my friend will make sure of that. But when the time comes, you'll know what to do inside your heart." The Beautiful Angel crooned, taking Gretchen's cheek and kissing her on the forehead before leaving, Gretchen moving the ring in her hand to her pocket as the Guidance Counselor took her shoulder.
It was as if a veil that had been placed over her eyes was ripped away. "Wh-what was I doing?" She asked, scratching her head as Mr. Thildari moved her back to the class.
"I THINK you were watching THAT." Mr. Thildari said cheerily, pointing outside the opened-up walls as two forms descended from the sky on blue wings, Dib gasping as a green blaze swirled around him, power coursing through his body. Now he was returned to his once-heroic form, standing tall and proud, his Will reasserted over the ring as Two snarled furiously, turning on Frequency.
"You! And...and YOU?" He gasped, seeing Skoodge as Skoodge smiled over in a surprised Dib and Gaz's direction.
"Power levels at 104%...119%...124%..." Dib's ring called out as Skoodge gave Dib the best thumbs up he could.
"Don't worry, Dib-Thing. Hope's wings have always lifted Will higher than it could ever soar. Trust me...All will be well." Skoodge spoke kindly, comfortingly.
And did he look IMPRESSIVE. A cloth covering the top of his head and forehead, with the white symbol of Hope emblazoned upon it. His outfit was vaguely Shamanic...long robe-like shirt to wear, exposing his arms, tipless gloves, plain, simple...and above all, he looked so peaceful and comforted. So SMUG, almost.
"So you've betrayed us?" Two growled at Frequency.
"What can I say, dude?" Frequency laughed, holding his ring up with Dib and Skoodge. "Except...COWABUNGAAAAAA!"
With that, an ENORMOUS blue wave of energy shot forth from Frequency's ring, formed like a tidal wave that SLAMMED into Zerinim Two Jookiba with all the fury of an ocean, as Dib now launched his OWN shark at Two, the pointy nose JAMMING into Two's chest, making him gasp in pain as he was sent spiraling through the air, knocked around by the wave...
Skoodge leaped forward, forming an enormous pair of hands that suddenly pinned Two to the ground, a pair of hands that rapidly became attached to the energy construct of a professional wrestler.
"And now Rodrick has his evil twin Rodrick in a Leg Hold!" Skoodge laughed, the wrestler slamming Two into the ground over and over before tossing him through the goal posts.
"TOUCHDOWN!" Gaz laughed, racing towards Two and kicking him squarely in the face, knocking him through the air and towards the school, right in the direction of Ms. Bitters.
"Huh?" She looked up just in time.
KA-THRUNCKA!
Everyone let out a simultaneous "Ewwwww" and stepped away as Two stood up, dusting himself off and looking down beneath him at what he'd landed on. He stuck his worm-like tongue out, stepping off and watching as Ms. Bitters' feet curled up, the rest of her body melting away as she let out a final sigh of "What a woooorld".
"It's over." Dib said, cracking his knuckles as Skoodge, Frequency, Gaz and he approached Two, who growled and reached into his vest, pulling out a small capsule-like computer.
"You'll never control Dib again, not with ME here, brah." Frequency proclaimed. "And you ain't gonna get to GAZ, either. We've spoken with the Big Bad behind it himself and he's given the ALL clear. Try to take her over again, you get a wipe out!"
"No. It's just BEGINNING." Two growled out. "EMERGENCY TEMPORAL SHIFT."
With a WHOOMP, he was gone, vanished from sight as the class looked from the wreckage to Dib, who scratched the back of his head. Were they FINALLY going to believe him now about the aliens thing?
"I guess...you're all wondering about all of that, right?" He asked.
"It's a gang war, you see." Mr. Thildari said quickly, stepping forward and waving a hand in the air. "Dib informed me that members of a gang who were INSANELY jealous of our school since it's so amazing, especially the clean bathrooms..."
"Oh yeah, yeah."
"Absolutely.
"Of course." Everyone agreed, nodding their heads.
"So they prepared to carry out an attack and decided to beat up Dib because he was the most noticeable of us all with his big head. Luckily Dib's friends here were skilled enough to fend them off with the fancy technological equipment that Prof. Membrane loaned his son and his friends in the event something strange like this ever happened. Isn't that right, Gaz?" Mr. Thildari wanted to know.
Gaz shrugged. "Yeah. Whatever."
"Oh, yes, YES." Gretchen said quickly. "Oh, Dib and I have talked about this before when we're alone! Some people have mace in their pockets, he's got super-tech!" She lied with a smile, quickly putting one arm around his and grinning.
"Er...yeah! Big, bad, rival gangs! It was all a rival gang." Dib decided quickly, gulping nervously. "DEFINITELY not aliens! And these guys are just in costumes cuz they were going to a party at my house later this afternoon. Costume party. Really private affair and stuff. Right, Gaz?"
"Yeah. Costume party. I mean, you can see the zipper!" Gaz chuckled, pointing at Skoodge's teeth as he grinned.
"Well, I think Gretchen had best inform the principal of our little...predicament...with your teacher." Mr. Thildari told the class. "And I think that perhaps I should drive you home, Dilbert, Gazeline...it's been a long, long day and I think we could all use a break, especially you two..."
...
...
...
... "I can't BELIEVE they bought it. I can't believe TWO bought it! One of the worst performances of my career and he didn't doubt it for a second." Frequency laughed, slapping his knee as Skoodge poured everyone some soda using GIR, who opened up his mouth. Gaz then closed GIR up and moved him over her chips, pulling down on an arm as nacho cheese was squirted down onto her snack. "I don't even know what the Entity of Rage LOOKS like! Ha! This is off...the...HOOK!"
"Hope, huh?" Dib inquired, looking Skoodge over as he calmly sipped some Diet-Poopsi, nodding sagely.
"Yes. Our Exemplar Rings gain power from the Entities of Emotions, and I was meant to wield Hope the way you were meant to wield Will, and Gaz was meant to wield Rage." Skoodge explained.
"Meant to? Entities?" Dib asked.
"What...ARE you?" Zim inquired, eyes widening at the ring in Miyu's hand.
"I suppose I should explain." Frequency admitted, sitting in a chair nearby as GIR clapped his hands together, beaming.
"It's STORYTIME?" GIR asked cheerily, hopping up and down.
"Uh...yep."
"Ooh, does it involve monkeys?"
Skoodge snorted, looking over in Dib and Gaz's directions as Gaz growled. "What's THAT supposed to mean?"
Frequency laughed and chuckled slightly, holding out his ring as an series of images began to form for them all, GIR's eyes widening. "Oooooooh. Laser liiiiights..."
"In the beginning, there was just one universe planned for creation. What happened...was something quite different. There was a...change...in the nature of the cosmos." Mr. Thildari explained calmly.
"Instead of ONE universe being made, a multiverse was created." Miyu went on. "Endless parallel worlds, similar in some ways, bizarrely different in others, were formed. All were occupying the same space, but vibrating at entirely different frequencies."
"Like two cars parked side by side in the same parking lot...or sometimes right on top of one another, with nobody realizing." The guidance counselor suggested.
"And there were entities, beings of INCREDIBLE power, that watched over all of this and spread the power of emotions through the universe." Miyu murmured. "The first was entity of Life, Sude, of the Seraphi race."
Zim blinked. "The Seraphi?" Wait, the Irken race had SENT invaders in the direction of the soc-called home of the Seraphi, the planet Allforce. What had happened to them? Had they becme dragon chow? They'd never heard from the fools again...
"I know what you're thinking. The race did not perform things such as that. They were the kind who offered laughter and joy up to their God instead of blood rituals. They simply sent Irken laughter to Sude."
Zim raised a non-existent eyebrow. "...wait...you mean?"
FIVE HUNDRED YEARS AGO...
"WE'LL TICKLE YOU FOREVER!" One brown and yellow-horned draconic being exclaimed as he held a giant feather up from a box, the tied-up Irken nearby gulping as his friends were held in place. "Prepare to enter the unbearable world of COOCHY-COOCHY-COO!"
PRESENT...
"ANNNNYHOW, the next was the entity of Passion, Chulainn. He's turned all nasty and dark when he became "Rage". Frequency went on with a sad expression flickering across his face. "Poor dude. Then we got the pretty lil' entity of Hope, Psyche. She's cute, in a weird way." He added, tilting his head to the side. "Kinda...looks like a butterfly. I think she IS that, a big, alien butterfly."
"And I spent many years conversing with the Entity of Love before I came here." Mr. Thildari explained, putting one hand to his chest. "Jourmungdr sent me here to the Base Earth to keep an eye on the planet and those within. It said this place was too important to be ignored. I've been keeping up a guise, with the Entity taking my place back at my home planet without anybody noticing."
"This world...this MUDBALL is...actually important?" Zim scratched his head. "How?"
"EVERYTHING in the multiverse stems from the material found in this base Earth." Skoodge interjected. "Remember when he talked about the "parking lot" analogy? Think of your world as an original model of car, and every other car in the lot is a rip-off or copy of that original." Skoodge went on as visible models of the many parallel Earths floated around.
"Without this world, there won't BE any other parallel Earths. No more stories of Zim and Dib and Gaz and GIR. This world is the cornerstone upon which the multiverse of Universe I-Z spins..." Miyu went on, gesticulating in the air. "Within this world...there's the POTENTIAL to remake the world that was tragically lost."
"They want to bring it back. If one tried to sacrifice enough of this world, Earth B-S will return. The people of this world will be, well...they get folded into the historical fabric. Become reborn anew, I guess you could say..." Frequency admitted.
"I'll DIE?"
"Answer: You'll become BETTER." Miyu informed him waving a clawed finger in the air. "You will reach your physical and mental peak, and will become a being both feared, loved and admired across the universe. And it is not just you. GIR, Minimoose, they'll be better too. People will respect you, Zim, be amazed at what you've become. I would never not lie..."
She gently took his shoulder, smiling at him as the visor on her helmet lifted up, and Zim's eyes widened in surprise. "To my own father."
"I...I need to...think about this." Zim mumbled.
"Statement: I shall do you one better." Miyu informed him as he pocketed his ring. "I will take you to your wife. I think you'll be more than pleasantly surprised."
Zim's eyes bugged out, mouth flopping open. "Zim has a WHAT?"

(zadr | angry first kisses)
“Move, will you?!”
“I’m trying! Sorry that I’m not twelve anymore!”
“Bah!” Zim said as he tried to scooch up in the driver seat. He waves his hand. “Needless details.”
Dib, who has been trying to fold himself comfortably within the small confines of the voot runner the past five minutes, lets his foot ‘accidently’ slip and kick Zim. “Oops,” he says flatly. “Sorry about that.”
Zim shoots him a glare but returns back to the control panel with just an angry huff. The voot runner’s engine hums as they zigzag throughout space.
Finally Dib finds a way to arrange himself by just saying fuck it and cramping his feet down on either side of the single seat with Zim sitting in between his knees because, you know, there’s only one seat. Sadly, Dib isn’t as small as he once was which Zim can’t seem to accept because he’s still the size of an elementary schooler and smells like it too--
“Zim does not smell!”
Dib snorts. “Could fooled me.”
Aside from the little interruption to his (totally not mumbled) monologue, which for now Dib should try to keep in his head to re-record later--no, Dib isn’t a snot-nosed preteen. No, Dib is a man--
“Stop laughing!” Dib yells, voice definitely not cracking at all, as Zim crackles. Grumbling, Dib hits stop on his voice recorder, making a mental note to go back and delete Zim’s annoying mocking laugh on it later. But back to his thought, Dib is seventeen and that’s basically manhood right?
Oh, and also they are running from the intergalactic police.
On second thought, Dib should probably start with that next time.
“Details, details,” Zim says as he narrowly misses the laser shot at them. “Zim is the best pilot in the Irkin Empire! This is kitten’s play.”
Dib really should stop monologuing out loud now.
He looks at the side mirror and sees dozens upon dozens of spaceships hot on their trail. “Uh,” Dib starts, for once feeling worried, “This time it looks ba--”
“Kitten’s play,” Zim grits out, then rolls the steering ball up. Dib falls forward as the ship nosedives. Zim hisses something unintelligible at him, which Dib realizes vaguely to have been some alien language curses as the voot runner’s gyroscope corrects gravity. God, he’ll never get used to this. “Did you hit your stupid big head? Get off of Zim!”
Except he can’t, at all, as the runner makes sharp turns, dives, and drives in every which way, nauseating Dib with each direction change and gyro-correcting that he can’t help but cling to Zim’s small frame and shut his eyes. He can feel Zim squirm, trying to wriggle out of his hold, but Dib’s arms just tightens further instead. “Trust me,” Dib manages to bite out, “I’d love too!”
“Hm!”
Then,
“Let’s see...Found it!”
The voot runner surges.  The two of them are pushed back into the driver’s seat from the sheer momentum as the runner accelerates. Dib peaks open an eye and only has a moment to see the pursuing ships appear to halt (which, Dib can only vaguely think--did we just break relativity?) before the wormhole devours them.
Zim squirms as Dib continues to hold him against his chest. He wonders if Zim could hear his still racing heart beat.
“That…” Dib says, “That was so cool!”
Zim pats his arm. “Yes, yes, yes it was--”
“You just went like, zoom! And they--”
“Yes, yes--”
“--were all like pew pew! Then you--”
“Okay--”
“--were all like bye suckers! And they were like--”
“ENOUGH!”
“--‘wait, what?’,” Dib finishes then grins down at Zim who’s still shifting in his arms like some mildly disgruntled cat. His heart’s still beating fast, Zim is looking up at him, and then,
well, Zim finally stills.
Dib raises his face from Zim’s.
“I--” Dib sputters, realizing what he just did. Did he just--he just--
Dib drops him like he burnt and tries to make as much distance as he can--which is not much. His face feels hot as Zim continues to say nothing about their shared kiss--Dib’s first kiss.
Dib is already imagining all the ways he was going to be ejected out from the runner. Suffocating and dying in the vastness of space, or maybe he’ll be maimed first then dumped, or maybe--
Zim punches him across the face, if he could call it a punch. Dib rubs his cheek as he watches the little alien cross his arms with a huff then march back to his spot on the driver seat. And that’s it. Dib sits, dumbfounded, as Zim just reviews his control panel without a glance back to him.
Huh.
“If,” Zim sniffs, still not looking at him, “you’re going to do that. Don’t drop me.”
Well,
Dib is totally going to put this into his voice memoirs.

The good thing about the forest was that not many tourists went there, not after the rumor of beasts and murderers that inhabited the forest. So Dib could go out more safely during the day and should not stay all morning in the leafy trees or caves, it was comforting to have more freedom and mobility now that he was trying to woo Zim.
They had decided to go for a walk together, a simple activity that they both liked just because they could spend time together. The idea came from Dib, and Zim thought that thanks to the movies he behaved more humanly, he wasn't flying or climbing trees, he just stayed by his side, he liked and scared that sudden change from a doubtful and restless mothman to one totally calm.
Dib was leading the walk, occasionally stopping and looking back as he waited for Zim, others looking around as a mere reflection to make sure no one was following. But above all he stayed close to the human, the bears lived in the forest and he had not brought his weapon, Dib knew it was so that he would not feel uncomfortable, he knew it the moment he asked and Zim refused to answer, he yelled at him and I push him out of the house to start the walk. That act made his feathers flutter with tenderness.
"We're almost there" He stepped in front of Zim just to have him read that message, the human sighed.
"I hope it's worth it if you woke me up early on a Sunday SUNDAY DAMN SCARFY BEAST!" He yelled angrily, pointing accusingly at his companion.
Dib lowered the antennae and snorted at him.
"Will be worth"
----------------------------
They had been walking for about an hour, and Zim quickly complained that he was taking them too long, Dib had to put up with his complaints after he refused to be carried. The road got heavier after that.
Finally they reached a crystalline lake, it was small and there seemed to be no fish or any other aquatic creature, Dib waited on top of a rock for the human to take off his slippers, socks and T-shirt to enter the water, hearing him complain about why He said where they were going to get his bathing suit.
"Sometimes I think you don't really have any intelligence" Zim huffed annoyed, dipping his feet on the edge to test the water temperature, it was warm, probably in the center the water would be colder.
"That would be sad for you, since I beat you at chess" Dib scoffed as he stuck out his tongue, he didn't hesitate and jumped into the water, not caring about wetting Zim, who screamed in reproach.
"You are lucky the necklace is waterproof!" He yelled angrily at the mothman, who had bent his knees so that the water would reach up to his chest, allowing all the feathers to get wet and lose some branches and leaves, Zim pointed out.
"Just come" He approached the edge of the lake, standing up in full and extending a hand to Zim, he only had to wait a few seconds for him to take it, and he couldn't help but smile when he noticed the slight blush that he tried to hide by looking away .
Dib backed away slowly, and Zim followed, shivering at the cold bottom and slippery stones beneath his feet. He couldn't help but think of the mothman as he rose above the water, his feathers were dripping and glistening in the sun, his chest was puffed up and the feathers clung but he was slightly bulging anyway, his arms now seemed more marked, they were big and He was muscular in appearance, which meant that he was not very flexible, his eyes reflected kindness and he had a smile that hid his fangs. And now that he was around, she could tell that Dib smelled like wet dirt, maybe Pino, or a mix of both, and she found him really attractive. He wanted to hit himself for it.
"In the center is deeper stay close to the edge" Dib advised, bending down a bit so that the necklace was read more easily. Zim huffed and with his free hand hit the water, splashing it in the direction of the mothman, who just lowered his antennae and jerked his head back.
"Zim can't swim but it doesn't mean he's stupid." The water came down to below his chest, and Dib, still bending his knees a little, only went up to a little above his waist, damn dwarf genes.
And after that, time flew by, the seconds became minutes and the minutes hours, noon came sooner than they both expected, they only realized that when the sun finally began to burn their skins and they decided to go more at the bottom of the natural pool (where the cold water was offset by the sun's rays), even if they liked to play near the shore.
Zim was forced to hold onto Dib's arms, staying TOO close to him, trying to stay on tiptoe on the stones to distract himself and eliminate the strong blush on his face along with the strong and rapid beats of his heart, or at least calm them down. a little. Needless to say, it didn't work. And Dib was amused by Zim's ashamed face, he would like to get closer but he preferred not to tempt his luck when they were both in such a peaceful environment. Without humans to bother them, without having to worry about time, only the two of them existed in the middle of a crystalline lagoon.
Dib fixed his gaze on Zim's lips, they were slightly pink, they were almost no different from the rest of his skin, but they were and you could only tell if you looked directly at him. He had also seen something put on them a couple of times, they didn't color but make them a little brighter, and he wondered what they would taste like. If something always caught the attention of humans, it was that strange way in which they showed their love to their family or partner with their mouths.
"The sun is starting to get too strong" Zim sputtered, squinting as he felt a bit sore from straining his eyes after being in the light for so long. The mothman just lifted his wings and body a little higher above the water, pulling Zim closer and putting him under his shadow.
And, by God, they were so close, SO DAMN CLOSE. Zim looked up at Dib, and could only open his mouth as the red color furrowed his cheeks and the words stuck in his throat, he felt that his heart was going to leave his chest . Dib blinked twice and stood still, staring at Zim.
I wanted to kiss him.
He needed to kiss him.
He was going to kiss Zim.
He was kissing Zim.
He let his body stay on top of Zim, sticking him as closely as possible to his plumage as he clumsily joined their mouths, he had no reaction, Dib couldn't help but notice that his lips were dry and sweet, but above all soft and they were better than what. As they seemed, the human remained still until his mouth was released, red predominated on his face, and fear struck Dib as he fully realized what he did.
"What was that?" Zim asked dryly, even in a state close to shock and an expressionless face, he didn't know how to react.
"A kiss, humans usually do it right?" She lowered his antennae and felt his wings falter with nerves and fear before Zim brought one of his trembling hands to the mothman's cheek.
"Do it again"

IZ week 2020
so i wasn’t gonna do this because I didn’t think the prompts were very good for writing to, but I remembered the last day’s prompt was “role swap” so I decided to do something small and quick for it. this is all 7 days in one post. the first and last ones are drabbles and one of them is an au idea
@invader-zim-week here u go!!!
Day 1. Angst or Fluff
Zim’s denial skills are god tier, but even they have their limits.
Drabble. I think this is the turning point for my eventual found family au
“When are you going to get it through your thick head that the Tallests aren’t coming?” Dib flings his arms out wide in his exasperation
“They’re just…!” Zim fumbles a bit, clenching and unclenching his fists. “The Armada is a million light years away! It takes time to travel that far, obviously. It took me six of your months to get here from Conventia and the Massive is further away from here now than that. They’ll come! You’ll see! And then you’ll be sorry!” Zim’s face is drawn tight. He’s tense all over, shoulders drawn up to his jaw, antennae pressed flat to his head, and normally Dib prides himself on reading Zim like an open book, but he’s too far gone in his own annoyance to see the warning signs.
It’s because he doesn’t see these red flags that Dib proceeds to stick his own foot in his mouth with his next words. “Maybe if you weren’t such an idiot and opened your eyes, you’d see the truth—that they dumped you here to get rid of you.”
“YOU THINK I DON’T KNOW THAT?” Zim explodes, planting his tiny hands in Dib’s chest and shoving. The boy lands painfully on his ass. “I’m not stupid, Dib.” His name is spat like an insult. “I know they don’t care about me! Why do you think I try so hard?”
Dib gapes at Zim, looking up at him for once, stunned into silence. “I.” He swallows. “You know?”
“Of course, I know.” Zim’s voice is a low hiss and his eyes are narrowed to slits. “You don’t get banished and then just get over it. You don’t get put on trial to defend your life, forced to relive your worse mistakes, and get sentenced to death, only to be saved by freak miracle, and never acknowledge it happened.” Zim takes a deep breath and crosses his arms over his chest. Dib supposes he means for it to look intimidating, but it looks more like he’s holding himself together. “I’ve always known.”
“Why do you try so hard then? If you’ve always known there was no point?” Dib has to ask, has to know, has to hear the words from Zim’s own mouth.
Zim purses his lips and turns away. “There was always a point.” He falls silent for a moment, one antenna twitching up a bit in thought. “I just… I thought if I was just a little better, if I accomplished something important for once, that… I don’t know, that maybe I’d.” He pauses and grits his teeth. “Maybe if I actually managed to take over this filthy planet I’d be worth something for once.”
Day 2. Be Gay Do Crime (LGBTQA+ headcannons)
Dib is bi/pan/demi-ro, Gaz is lesbian, Zim is ace/demi-ro
Headcanons.
Dib seems like the kind of guy that would both take whatever kind of relationship he could get, but also appreciate it. Dib isn’t afraid to work for what he wants and isn’t afraid of things that are “not normal” so I see him being the type to not care about the gender of whoever he eventually decides to date. However, because Dib’s been burned in the past, he would need a deep and sincere emotional relationship to see someone as a potential romantic partner.
Gaz is just a big lesbian. Girls, man.
Zim is ace all the way baby!!! He’s just not interested, and sure, part of that is me projecting, but it just feels right for Zim to just… not care. He has no interest and doesn’t care for sexual attraction regardless of whether or not Irkens do/can/will have sex or not. On the other hand, Zim has expressed a softer side before and I can see him being able to maybe eventually develop romantic feelings for someone if he actually manages to get close enough to them for those kinds of feelings to even emerge. It would take a lot of time and a deep, meaningful friendship, but Zim has shown he’s capable of love. He just has to let himself feel it.
  Day 3. Fandom Appreciation
Found family fuck yeah
Headcanons.
I’m still in the process of thinking about how I wanna go about my found family au so here’s just some initial ideas
After ETF, Zim self isolates for a bit. The florpus hole was his Last Ditch Effort plan and had it succeeded, he knew he would have been destroyed too. He was okay with it. He had made peace with it. However, it failed, and now he’s forced to reflect on said failure
The Massive doesn’t escape the florpus. They’re gone, completely. If they the ship does manage to get out, it’s not in one piece
I initially couldn’t decide if The Trial should come Before ETF or After but I think im gonna say before so the Massive doesn’t have to come back lmao
Before too long, Zim jumps back into the planning/scheming swing of things, but his ideas are never more than petty crimes and being a huge annoyance
Dib gets really annoyed with him and they have a big argument
Zim finally admits to knowing of his own Defectiveness
Dib reluctantly feels bad for him and backs off a bit to let Zim have his space
Zim, however, sees this as a betrayal and redoubles his efforts to get his attention
Somewhere along the way, Skoodge comes back and Zim backs off of Dib a bit, having someone else to focus attention on
Dib eventually begins to offer Zim his hand in friendship (phrased as a truce at first) and they finally make steps towards getting along
They realize they actually really like being friends
Zim eventually realizes that he’s made a life for himself, outside of the Empire
Eventually Zim, Skoodge, GIR, Minimoose, Dib, and Gaz form their own little family and explore space and hunt cryptids
(I love cryptid hunter and space exploration aus holy shit)
Day 4. If IZ had a different setting/time period
Cyberpunk??? Sure
Potential idea maybe.
Cyberpunk dystopian future
Aliens and humans intermingle, both on and off Earth
The Irken Empire has gotten bigger
Technology is advanced and cybernetics are widely known/produced
Idk man I don’t know a lot about cyberpunk, maybe this should be more for the aesthetic
Day 5. Aesthetic
Big shrug man idk
Headcanons, thoughts.
I’m a big fan of fashion Zim, and whenever I get the chance I give him clothes that are both cute and comfortable
Galaxy print leggings are a personal favorite of mine to give him
One time I wrote a little ficlet/oneshot where he wore a skirt. I should publish that some day
Uhhhhhh okay so. Dib has veeeeeery big early 2000s emo/punk vibes tbh
Scene kid GIR always makes me laugh
Gaz could pull off pastel goth like no one’s business
I’ve been here long enough to witness emo/scene hair wig Zim and his eventual fall lmfao
Pretty much everyone that redesigned them back in the day gave Zim emo kid hair that fall perfectly over one eye it was WILD
Day 6. What if IZ was a different Genre?
Uhhhh does “fantasy instead of scifi” count?
Potential idea maybe. (oops it ended up being a fantasy/modern magic au haha ooooops)
Instead of being an alien, I had the idea of, maybeeeeee Irkens are like. Elves maybe, or perhaps some kind of fae. (I don’t know much about fae, oops)
Okay bear with me here, this is all coming together in real time.
The Irkens (which is what I’m gonna call their clan or faction or subrace or whatever) still want to be the rulers or something over the humans/other mystical beings. This world of magic is hidden from humans and they live blissfully unaware. There are invaders all over the place, using magic and glamors to trick humans into thinking they’re also humans. Zim is one such invader and just to happens to end up in Dib’s town, whereupon he enrolls in Dib’s school, pretending to be a transfer student.
I have no idea why or how the Irkens invade or what methods they use, but since my biggest experience with elves is through DND, I’m going to say they’re functionally similar to certain DND elf races.
So anyway, Zim ends up in Dib’s class and Zim’s glamor just Doesn’t Work on Dib for whatever reason (maybe Dib passed his Wisdom saving throw while literally everyone else failed, idk) and so Dib can immediately see Zim for what he is.
Dib is still into paranormal type stuff, though in his world, he’s less about cryptids and aliens and more about the magical species/world(s) that he KNOWS exists. His big goal in his au is similar to canon in that he wants to expose it all for recognition and love from his father.
Zim, meanwhile, he just wants to prove himself, just like canon. I can’t decide how I want the Irken hierarchy to go in this au—that’s something to think about later, when I have more time—but whatever it is, Zim is either a) not very good at it, b) not suited for it, c) ridiculed for not fitting in to it, or d) a combination of any or all of these things. (or secret option e) he rejects it but has no where else to go. On the other hand, it maybe be none of these things.)
GIR is here too though he’s probably not a robot. Maybe he’s another kind of magical being, or, hell, maybe he’s just Zim’s little brother. I’d be okay with that.
Gaz can also see through glamors but she just doesn’t care. Tak shows up at some point to get revenge, and Skoodge also shows up at some point to stay with Zim and be his friend.
Zim is bad at blending in at first, but he eventually Does get better, since he’s not totally isolated from other Irkens here and he also doesn’t Look like an alien.
(I’m thinkin’ elves in this au look Mostly human but with a few differences. Since I’m biased and this is MY fantasy world, damnit, elves are just. Really Pretty. Ethereal and elegant and graceful (for the most part—there are always exceptions) and they’re also great at magic. Maybe Zim isn’t all that great at magic, I dunno. I’ll figure something out.)
This ended up being less of a genre change and more of a whole ass au, lol oops
Day 7. Role swap
Chanting: human zim au human zim au human zim au human zi
Drabble. This is for an ongoing species swap au that i’ve had in development for the last few years. i haven’t posted anything for it yet, but I’ve thought about it a lot
Dib freezes as Zim points the plastic water gun at his head. Zim’s eyes are narrowed, lips pursed, and he adjusts his grip almost nervously. Behind him, Gir is holding a bucket full of water balloons and a pair of neon green star shaped sunglasses. It’d be cute if Dib wasn’t aware of how painful Earth water is to his Irken skin.
Zim finally lowers his gun slightly. “I want some answers, alien.” He looks Dib over with critical eyes. “Who are you really, and why are you here?” He reaches back and Gir hands him a water balloon with a big smile. “And you better tell the truth or I’ll bust this over your big head.”
Dib grimaces and watches the balloon. “My name Dib, and I’m a scientist. I’m an Irken, from Irk, and I’m here to learn more about life on this planet.” He holds his hands up, hoping to placate the human gesture for surrender. “I’m not here to harm you or anyone else, promise.”
Zim huffs. “Yeah right. I bet you just came here to laugh at the locals.” He puts on a mocking voice and waves the gun and balloon as he speaks. “‘Stupid, stinking humans. They can’t even travel beyond their own moon, yet. What morons. I bet they descended from pigs with how horrible and stupid they are.’” He jams the gun against Dib’s chest. “Tell me I’m wrong.”
Dib bites his lower lip and looks away. He can’t deny he hasn’t thought something similar since arriving on Earth, but Zim didn’t have to be so crude and blunt about it.
The two are at a standoff for almost a minute before Zim blows out a long sigh and steps back. He turns to put the balloon back in the bucket, gives Gir a pat on the head, and shoots Dib one last glare. “Stay away from me, Dib. I have enough problems to deal with without having to worry about whether or not it’s safe for my brother to go to school or if I need to watch my back while walking my dog.”
“I wouldn’t hurt you,” Dib says, a little put out.
Zim scoffs and rolls his eyes. “Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. I know better than to believe it.” He turns and tries to smile at Gir but it comes out a little twisted and sad. “C’mon Gir. Let’s go home and get Minimoose and take him to that dog park you like so much.”
Gir gasps and lets out a cheer. “Can we go get ice cream afterwards?”
Zim gives a little laugh, smile turning a bit more genuine. “Yeah, sounds good.”
As they walk away Dib can’t help but wonder why he ever thought Zim was an Irken himself.

Ranting about how Gaz, taster of pork is my fave iz ep bc >:(((
iI wanted to make this rant for a while now so why the hell not, I’ve also been wanting to rant about this ep and why its my all time favorite...because why the hell not... __________ This episode is way above the others for me, nothing can beat this. Ever sense I started watching Invader Zim I wanted an ep like this, and when I first watched it I knew it was going to be my fave and god I was so so exited, where do I start?  I hear some people don’t like this episode because how much Dib abuse is in it, for someone who kins Dib and whenever I see Dib get hurt in the show (which is like every single fucking ep) I feel horrible for him, but in this ep I did not, and I actually found it pretty funny, I laughed. From the start I knew Gaz and Dib where going to be my favorites and the more the show went on the more and more I loved these two and wanted to just see these two on screen, honestly I was starting to get tired of a lot of ep’s just being Dib vs Zim, I really wanted something else, not ONLY in this ep just about Dib and Gaz, how its done is done so so PERFECTLY.  _____________ I don’t want to point out every single part why I like it so much (probably will, anyways) starting off, Dib is fucking adorable in the start, thats perfect for me, LOVE THAT SHIT. That fucking....squeal he did?? yes. Ill take that shit. thank u..... And Gaz just walking in bitching about how Dib ate her food and hes just fucking too focused on his hard drives or whatever, its fucking perfect. Dib just being a fanboy in the start and Gaz bitching about whatever to him is perfect for me,   I think this was the first time we saw Gaz’s room and I love how it’s filled with stuffed animals, that is so perfect for her character you have NO IDEA. And I love what I’m assuming is dragon pajamas, what I love most of all is Gaz calling in her stuff animals to throw Dib out her room, the idea of Gaz having these creepy dolls that come to life is one of the best concepts for her character and I wish people would do more with that. I like how Dib just isn’t down right scared of Gaz all the time, like he is still willing to be selfish about himself, giving her the shadow hog curse and lying ABOUT IT LMAO WHAT AN ASSHOLE. Dib then starts to act fucking dumb af, like “OH NO I DIDNT DO CRAP GAZ 0W0W0W0W0W0W0W0W0W0W00″ But Gaz b like: nah hoe Dib’s still being an ass, then the ep JUST GETS FUCKING BETTER.  One of my alltime favorite things about this ep is that you can slowly see Dib get more and more scared, and Gaz more and more upset, you can tell something really bad is going to happen to Dib at the end, but you don’t know what, and it’s even more scary because its Gaz...THAT IS JUST, SUCH ASMAZING WRITING, I REALLY ADORE SHIT LIKE THAT, GOD.  I love how Gaz dosen’t start getting angry too early, I like how you see her eat every single food and creepy music is just being played, she’s also not eating all the food too fast, you can just FELL SHIT BOUTTA HAPPEN SOON 4 REAL  one of my favorite fucking animation clips from this ep is just when Gaz is eating and just spitting it all in Dib’s face while he’s reading his book trying to fix this curse, you can start to feel Dib, and how much he is starting to panic, its amazing,.  _______  AND THEN THE FUCKING, MASHED PATATO PART HHABSJDGEK THAT PART HAD ME DYING, AND WHEN GAZ OPENED HER EYES WHILE DOING IT IT WAS SO FUCKING CURSED, AND THEN GAZ JUST GIVES UP AND THROWS THE FOOD AT SOME RANDOM ASS AND DIB IS LIKE “NOOO NOT ZITA” ITS SO FUCKING DUMB AND PERFECT I LOVE IT.  I forgot to add this but I love Gaz’s voice through out this and how she is acting, she’s not too too scary (at the start at least) like how shes acting and her voice tone and everything, which makes it even more scary for some reason, like its not overdone, u fucking SCARED LIKE U CAN TELL SOME SHIT BOUTTA GO DOWN.  side note I love how Gaz’s teacher is nothing like mrs. Bitters, its so funny.  ALSO??? ALSO???? I LOVE THE LITTLE MOMENT WHERE GAZ AND DIB IS HOLDING HANDS WHILE WALKING HOME, LOVE THAT, LOVE THAT SOOO MUCH, SO CUTE WTF. also I LOVE THE PIG GIRL THING. Just seeing art for that in that ep is so cool, AND WHEN GAZ IS IN THAT LITTLE PIGGY OUTFIT SO SO CUTE, I’m telling you, Gaz’s animal is Pigs, like Dib’s animal is moths. It fits too well. It’s so so cool to see something crazy and insane happening to Gaz for a change and not Dib and Zim. And its still just as funny, if not, even MORE FUNNY.  and i adore the PART WHERE DIB IS JUST TALKING TO A RANDOM HOBO LIKE ITS SO FUCKING RANDOM AND POINTLESS IM WATCHING THE EP RN AND I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT IT JUST EXISTS LMAOO  aND it is super super cute when Dib was talking to Zim, just, that part was so perfect, you can tell that Dib really does care. AND HERE COMES THE BEST PART AND THE IDEA FOR MY DEMON GAZ AU WHERE LIKE, GAZ SEEMS LIKE SHE HAS THESE EVIL POWERS, JHONEN CAN SAY “NO SHE DONT HOE” BUT IM LIKE “YEET TEET S I R” THAT, YES YES HELL YES THAT WAS SO SO PERFECT WHAT THE FUCK??  and___ _______ oh my god. oh. my. fucking. god. Like the most funny part of tHE EP IS THE PART WE WHERE WAITING FOR, DO YALL KNOW HOW FUCKING FUNNY IT WAS??? OK, OK.  A LISTEN.  WHEN GAZ FINALLY COMES OUT HER CAGE THINNG, U KNOW DIB BOUTTA GET BLASTED, AND GAZ JUST BEATS THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT HIM, but get this, HE SOUNDS LIKE A SQUEAKY TOY. YES, YES, YES, ALL MY YES, 100/10, 100/10. 100/10.  thtt SHITR....HAD ME DEAD, FUCKING DEAD.  AND THE PART WHERE THEY WHERE IN BEAVER COSTUMES WHERE SO SO ADORBALE, THEY ARE SO CUTE, I LOVE THEM, Dib and Gaz where so so on point in this ep. ________ the shadow hog place,,,,,OH MY FUCKING GOD, HOW, HOW CAN YOU GET MORE PERFECT??? THE PIGS AND EVERYTHING JUST, EVERYTHING LOOKS AND FEELS SO SPOTLESS, WHOEVER DESIGNED THAT  MMMEFNJEFHIE This is when Dib starts to get very protective and this is JUST. WHAT. I WANT. from Dib and Gaz.  PLUS i love the shadow Hog, hes nice.  ONE ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS EVER, LIKE, MAYBE IN THE ENTIRE GOD DAMN SHOW, IS JUST DIB FIGHTING THEM SHADOW HOG GUARDS, JUST, ITS NOT normal Dib abuse like in every ep, THEM HOGS ARE LEGIT BEATING THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT HIM, LIKE DAMN BRUH THEY FUCKING, DAMN, BUT THATS NOT GOING TO STOP DIB, EVERYTIME HE GETS HURT HE JUST GETS RIGHT BACK UP, HE DOSENT WANT GAZ TO GET HURT OR DIE, HE CARES THAT MUCH, HE JUST KEEPS FUCKING, GOING AND GOING AND GOING AND DAMN  WTJHWVWUTD, BRUUUHHH DID YALL SEE THE PART WHEN DIB GOT THROWN BACK AND THE BACKGROUND WAS RED?? BRUH I FELT THAT BRUH, DIB REALLY DID SAY:N BEKFHEJHFJOEFJKFJKLWEHLIFJGEIURGFURWEHGRK  LIKE MY MAN GOT THROWN LIKE THAT LIKE BRUIH KISSES TO THE ANIMATIORS THAT FUCKING, THAT MOVEMEANT WAS SO SO IMPRESSIVE AND SMOOTH HOW TF THEY DID THAT EVERYTIME I WATCH HIM GET THROWN BACK LIKE THAT WHEN THE SCREEN IS RED IM JUST ALWAYS LIKE ‘whoa”  aND gAZ and the shadow hog lord oh my god they are perfect, I love how they just, start dancing in tu tu’s and playing video games and Gaz is just ranting to him about how dumb her life is its all. so perfct. Keep in mind this is both going on at the same time which makes it 100 times better, this is what makes a cartoon so GOD DAMN PERFECT.  pOOR Dib when he comes in he just feels so so horrible, so sorry for Gaz, and the pig lord actua, lly dosent know what to do and gaz is like “yeah punish him lmfao”  AND THEN THE TOILET PART OH MY FUCKING GOD THAT WAS JUST ALMOST AS FUNNY AS WHEN GAZ BEATS DIB AAND HES JUST A SQUEAKY TOY LMAO, it makes it 10000000000 times better because you dont see whats in the toilet and Dibs just freaking out, that is so perfect, that what makes good writing and a joke work, that was perfect.  AND THE ENDING, OH MY FUCKING GOD JUST dIB YELLING IN PAIN, perfect.  Theres jsut so much good shit in this ep that just makes it better than the others. I wanted more of shit like this from the show and etc, I also want more fanart of pig Gaz. Good shit man

SKSKS YOU DO ALMIGHTY TALLEST REQUESTS :0 I LOVE YOU Can you do both the Tallest with a Human s/o, and I just honestly wanna know how it would work. Howd they meet? Would they be competitive w/ eachother at first and soon accept it? How would they treat them? Would they visit? Or would they take them with them? If they did, how do you care for a human there? How would the tallest act when one or the other isnt there and they are finally alone with eachother. Possibilities are endless man. TY! ❤
Ooh, this is a long one-
I’ll see what I can do!!
Tumblr media
Almighty Tallest x Human!Reader HCs
❤️💜 So, as odd as it sounds, Red and Purple decided to do their own little experiments on a human while Zim was making a fool of himself on Earth. NO, I don’t mean actual, horrific human experiments, I mean like mess around with a human to provoke it and observe its behavior.
❤️💜 Red and Purple order Zim to kidnap a random human, you, and hold them captive until the Tallest could come pick them up in the Massive.
❤️💜 The tiny Irken was overjoyed that the Tallest wanted to come to Earth. He ends up ironically knocking you, a much bigger person than him, out cold and dragging you back to his base until his leaders arrived.
❤️💜 When they do arrive, they beam you aboard the Massive and put you into a holding cell for questioning and experimenting later.
❤️💜 When you finally wake up, you are shocked to find yourself locked up in a dark, cold cell with nothing but a camera watching you. (Pervs-). “Hey.. hey, what gives?! What’s going on?!?!”
❤️💜 Red and Purple hear you wake up over the video surveillance and go to your cell. When you see them, you freak out and back up against the wall, “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my GOD-!” (Honestly, I’d do that too if I met the Tallest.)
❤️💜 “Ugh, this one’s loud! Can we take it back?” Purple moans, but Red shuts him up. “No, we just gotta calm it down. Are you alright, human?” He looks at you, and you nod slowly, still a bit scared.
❤️💜 “Stand up and come with us. We just wanna talk.” Red informs you and opens the door to the cell, letting you out. You shakily stand to your feet and follow them out and into the hall.
❤️💜 They both stand on either side of you as they lead you. Purple takes a slight interest in your hair and curiously grabs it, gently tugging on it. Unfortunately, that made you yelp and he retracted his claw-hand. “Sorry.” He mumbled quietly.
❤️💜 They lead you to a much bigger room, which looked kinda like a break room and Red informs you that they just wanted to talk to you and ask you questions about Earth and humans and such, since Zim was horrible at doing his job. They even offer you some snacks from the vending machine. How generous.
❤️💜 As Red starts asking you some stuff about human life, Purple takes a seat beside you on the couch and starts touching your hair again, but more gentle this time, “What are these (long/short).. tendrils coming from your head..? Are they like antennae or- oh, they’re soft! Red, come feel this!!” He starts petting your hair, like you were some kind of pet to them. (I mean-)
❤️💜 Red sits on your other side and feels your hair as well, “Hey, that is soft!” He giddily runs his hand-claws through his your hair while Purple holds a few locks of your hair close to his face.
❤️💜 “...what the f*ck is going on..?” You wonder to yourself. You’ve got these tall-ass aliens petting your hair and there’s not a whole lot you can do about it, so.. go with it?
❤️💜 You’re currently wearing flip-flops/sandals, and when Red sees your toes, he turns to them instead, lifting your foot up. When he wiggles one of your toes, you can’t help but giggle, “Ah! Don’t!” He sees your reaction and grins, wiggling your toes some more, “Hey, they’re ticklish!!”
❤️💜 Your fear of the Irken leaders shrank when you realized they didn’t really mean any harm and slowly began relaxing around them. They promised to let you go afterwards but once they finish “interrogating” you, they were going to wipe your mind to make you forget you ever saw them.
❤️💜 ^^ But how can you forget all that, though? If that were me, I’d be having the time of my life. :D
OH JESUS THIS WAS WAY TOO LONG AND NOT THAT FLUFFY BUT I HOPE YOU LIKE THIS, ANON!

Dib x Male!Reader, but Zim also had feelings for y/n, maybe something similar to the Tak episode but Zim genuinely likes them
You got it, friend!!
Here is the song I used btw
Ever since your first day of Skool, you could tell right off the bat that both Zim and Dib liked you.
Zim was always blushing and stuttering around you. And Dib would cut his paranormal rants short the moment you walked into class.
It wasn’t long before you decided to talk to them.
You decided to start with Dib since he seemed easier to approach.
After sitting with him at lunch, you and Dib quickly became the best of friends.
You found his knowledge of the paranormal endearing and actually enjoyed going cryptid hunting together!
You never once called him weird nor creepy! Hell, you even stuck up for him whenever someone bullied him.
However, you drew the line at exposing Zim.
You felt like Dib was being a bit too hard on Zim.
Thus you decided it was finally time to talk to Zim.
Unfortunately, Dib was less than thrilled and would constantly try to keep you away from him.
Luckily the next day, Dib seemed to be absent.  As much as you hoped he was alright, you decided to use the opportunity to have a chat with Zim.
You found him sitting by himself at lunch.  He gave his lunch tray a sniff before recoiling in horror.
“Hey, can I sit with you?”
The sound of your voice caught Zim off guard.
“I’M PERFECTLY NORMAL!” Zim screeched as he jumped up onto the table.
“I…didn’t say you weren’t….”
“Oh, you didn’t? Well why else are you here Y/N-Beast?! Come to bring me to the Dib-monkey?!” Zim asked as he poked your chest.
“No! No! I’ve actually been trying to convince Dib to stop calling you an alien.” You explained gently.
“Eh? Really?” Zim’s eyes narrowed.
“Yes, really! I want to show him that you’re not an alien!” You confirmed with a nod.
“Well then, strangely attractive human-worm beast! I shall give you all the proof you need!”
And with that, Zim sat back down and picked up his spoon.
“Witness my perfectly normal bean-chewing!”
After making sure you were looking, Zim gingerly took a heaping spoonful of beans and slowly led it to his mouth.
His arm shook as his face begun to sweat. Zim fought back the urge to vomit as he shoved the beans into his mouth.
Zim sounded like he was dying as he struggled to choke down the beans.
“You see? I’m…perfectly..ACK!!!!”
You let out a gasp as Zim fell backwards out of his seat.
“Yummy….”  He whimpered weakly.
You rushed over to check on Zim and let out a gasp of horror!
There, sprawled out on the floor, was a horrifically disfigured Zim.
His head was so swollen it throbbed as a glowing green substance oozed out of it!  Zim’s breathing was heavy as his worm like tongue hung out of his mouth.
“Oh god! Zim!”
Without thinking, you dove behind the table, scooped up Zim, and rushed him out of the lunchroom.
“Don’t worry, Zim! I’ll get you to the nurse! She’ll know what to do!” You reassured as you kept running.
“No…Nurse….”
Zim’s words made you stop dead in your tracks.
“No nurse?”
“Take me….to…locker……” Zim begged as he coughed up more ooze.
“Ohh-kay then…”
After bringing Zim to his locker, Zim slid out of your arms, opened it, and pulled out a large strange-looking pump.
Before you could even blink, Zim put the pump on his head.
SLURP! SLURP! SLURP!
The pump slowly drained the ooze from Zim’s head and emptied it into a clear container.
Zim panted as he removed the pump and pulled out a can of soda from his PAK.
“Are you ok?” You asked as you gave Zim a concerned look.
“Of course I am! Zim is always fine-” Zim took a sip of his soda- “I just simply had a perfectly normal human allergic reaction!”
“Err…Ok then… Are you sure you don’t need to see the nurse?”
Zim quickly finished his soda before acknowledging your question.
“What? Oh right! Worry not, Y/N-beast! Zim is perfectly fine! No need to get the nurse involved.” Zim’s voice quivered as he flicked his wrists.
“Well glad to see you’re ok. I guess this happens to you a lot since you have that pump thingy,” You noted as you rubbed the back of your head.
“Yep but thanks to my SUPERIOR healing skills I recover quickly!” Zim boasted as he put a hand on his chest.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at Zim’s over the top behavior.
You decided to hang out with Zim for the rest of the day.
Zim was actually a very interesting guy! He even shared your sense of humor!
You couldn’t understand why Dib kept accusing Zim of being an alien. If anything, Zim was just a little weird. Being weird doesn’t make anyone an alien right?
Zim found himself growing fond of you as well!
He hadn’t expected a human to be so interesting! Let alone so attractive and kind!
The longer he talked with you the more Zim’s PAK sparked!
His feelings were scary and confusing but Zim never wanted them to go away!
No matter how his squeedillyspooch fluttered, Zim just couldn’t resist you!
Zim found himself wanting you to stay by his side longer and longer!
When the Skool day came to an end, Zim practically floated all the way back to his base.
“Gah! Look at me! I’m feeling all…tingly..and sparky! I’m becoming weak….Y/N must’ve given me some kind of Urth illness!” Zim threw off his disguise,  “Computer! Preform a bioscan for any illnesses!”
“SCANNING….SCANNING!!!!”
ZAP!
“BIOSCAN COMPLETE! NO ILLNESSES FOUND!”
“WHAT?! IMPOSSIBLE! Why else would I be feeling all…mushy and stuff?!” Zim whined as he gestured to himself.
“I DON’T KNOW…MAYBE YOU JUST LIKE Y/N?”
“LIES!!! I-”
“Nya!”
Zim was cut off by Minimoose’s tiny voice piping up.
“Eh? How can having FILTHY FEELINGS for Y/N possibly be a good thing?!” Zim demanded as he shot Minimoose a glare.
Minimoose was unfazed by their Master’s outburst.
“Nya!”
“Use Y/N to help keep up appearances?” Zim hummed as a large grin spread across his face.
“Yes….That just might work!”
The next day, you told Dib everything that had happened at lunchtime.
“Y/N! How could you help him?! He was probably trying to trick you or something!” Dib scolded as he threw his hands into the air.
“Dib, I couldn’t just let him leak all that goo everywhere!” You huffed as you folded your arms.
“Did you at least get any-HEY!”
Dib was cut off by Zim shoving him aside
“Y/N-Beast! I have come to offer you the most AMAZING opportunity you will ever receive in your inferior human existence!” Zim announced dramatically as he pointed to the ceiling.
Caught off guard by Zim’s interruption, you simply blinked in surprise.
“From the moment we’ve met you’ve proven yourself to be a worthy ally! Your physical appearance is pleasing and I can tolerate your presence! Therefore I now bestow upon you the honor of being MY LOVE PIG!” Zim sang as he threw his hands into the air.
You opened your mouth to speak but Dib piped up.
“NO! Y/N! DON’T LISTEN TO HIM! IT’S PROBABLY A TRAP!” Dib wailed as he sprung in front of you.
“TRAP?! I can assure you this offer is no trap! Y/N, YOU are the only one worthy of being my love pig” Zim cleared his throat, “So what do you say?”
You tired to speak but yet again, Dib cut you off.
“He says no! You can pick on me, Zim but I won’t let you hurt Y/N! I care about him far too much!” Dib snarled as he jammed a finger into Zim’s chest.
“YOU DARE SUGGEST THAT I WOULD HURT Y/N?! I’M OFFENDED YOU WOULD EVEN THINK I WOULD DO SUCH A THING!” Zim roared as he swatted Dib’s hand away.
“Why do you care so much about Y/N anyway?! I thought your kind didn’t need anyone!” Dib growled.
“I think the real question is why do you care about Y/N so much, Dib-worm?!” Zim snapped as he snapped a finger in Dib’s face.
“Because I…..Because I….” Dib trailed off as his words got caught in his throat.
“Because you what?”
“Because I love him ok?!” Dib gasped as he quickly clamped his hands over his mouth.
You nearly stumbled backwards at the confession while Zim simply stared at Dib incredulously.
Zim shook away his shock and let out a giggle. The giggle grew and grew until he burst into a full on fit of laughter.
Dib’s face glowed bright red as he tried to sink into his coat.
“Oh, you hideous fool! You can’t possibly love Y/N!” Zim wheezed as he wiped away a few tears.
“Oh yeah?! And just why not?!”
“Because I love Y/N more than your big smelly head can comprehend!” Zim cackled as he threw his hands in the air.
“No way! I love Y/N more! You probably don’t even know what love is!” Dib snarled as he glared into Zim’s eyes.
“GRARGH!! I LOVE Y/N MORE AND I CAN PROVE IT!”
Before Dib could say another word Zim trotted up to you and cleared his throat.
“Conquering worlds is what makes me feel alive! It’s the life I decide as I destroy everything in sight! But when I’m by your side, your voice sounds ever so kind. It’s what’s guiding me and gives me peace of mind!”
Zim gave you a wink before dramatically putting a hand on his forehead.
He imagined himself as the ruler of Urth as flames rained down from the sky!
“Doom from above is all that I’m dreaming of! But you showed me a world beyond the skies that I can touch! From that day ever more I felt my insides so brightly beating! Bursting with this lovey-dovey feeling now!”
The flames turned into heart bubbles as Zim’s fantasy came to an end.
Zim took your hands in his and gently spun you around.
“All I need to survive is to be right by your side! It’s the pulse through the night that sets my soul alight! Can’t believe even me could laugh on so easily as I’m taken by the beat in the quantum breeze!”
Zim tried to twirl you into his arms only to find that Dib had pulled you out of his grip.
Zim let out a low growl as he tried to glare in Dib’s direction, only to gasp as Dib darted down the hall with you in tow.
Once Dib was certain you and he were far enough away from Zim, he took your hands in his and gazed into your eyes.
“All that I know is that I hate being alone. Cause wherever I go there’s the fear I’ll end up on my own so, Right by my side take my hand and hold it tight. Cause it’s you that is guiding me and gives me peace of mind!”
Dib hung his head low as he remembered how poorly he was treated by his peers and his family.
“When I’m all alone I’m just nothing but a joke, but you gave me hope and validation even so!”
Dib’s face lit up as he looked back up at you.
“From that day ever more I felt my heart so brightly beating bursting with this lovey-dovey feeling now!”
Dib gripped your hands tighter and pulled them closer to his chest.
“All I need to survive is to be right by your side! It’s the pulse through the night that sets my heart alight! Can’t believe even me could laugh on so easily as I’m taken by the beat in the quantum breeze!”
You opened your mouth to speak again when-
FWOOM!
Zim had activated his PAK’s jets and was zooming down the hall.
Before you could even process what was happening, Zim scooped you up and made his getaway.
“Hey! Let Y/N go, Zim!” Dib demanded as he chased after him.
“Ha! Now you’re all- ACK!”
CLANG!
Zim crashed into a nearby pole, causing you to fall out of his arms.
“Don’t worry, Y/N! I’ve got you!” Dib reassured as he quickly caught you.
“T-Thanks for the save…” Was all you could utter as your mind struggled to process what was happening.
“Let’s get you to safety.”
And with that, Dib ran as fast as his legs could take him.
Unfortunately, Zim quickly peeled himself off of the pole and followed suit.
“RETURN MY Y/N YOU INFERIOR STINK WORM!!”  Zim roared as he picked up the pace.
Dib was unfazed by Zim’s threats and continued running.
He swerved around poles, he jumped over random pieces of trash on the floor, and he even plowed by the other students.
Zim struggled to dodge the obstacles but continued his chase.
Eventually Dib found himself running out of breath.
He stopped behind a locker to catch his breath before looking down at you.
“All I need to survive is to be right by your side. it’s the pulse through the night that sets my heart alight-”
SWIPE!
Zim swooped in and snatched you out of Dib’s arms.
“Can’t believe even me could laugh on so easily! Like an angel in the sky flying high and free!”
Dib let out a growl and tried to out-sing Zim as he gave chase once more.
“All I need to survive is to be right by your side! It’s the pulse through the night that sets my heart alight! Can’t believe even me could laugh on so easily as I’m taken by the beat in the quantum breeze!”
Eventually, Dib managed to chase Zim into a corner.
“It’s over, Zim! There’s nowhere left for you to hide!” Dib announced dramatically.
Zim opened his mouth to speak but you finally managed to get a word in
“STOP!!! Guys! I love you both ok?! Can’t you guys just share me or something?!”
“WHAT?!” Zim and Dib exclaimed simultaneously.
“ME?! SHARE WITH THE HORRIBLE DIB-STINK?! NEVER!” Zim snarled as he clung to you protectively.
“Y/N! Have you gone crazy?! There’s no way I’ll share with an evil alien monster!” Dib snarled as he folded his arms.
“Either you two share me or I won’t date either of you!” You threatened and you turned up your nose.
Zim and Dib exchanged horrified looks.
“Ugh! Fine! I’ll share you with Zim…” Dib sighed as he hung his head.
“What about you, Zim?” You asked sweetly.
Zim growled for a moment  before his face softened a bit.
“Oh-kay….But I get to hold your superior hand!”
“Great! Can you put me down now?” You asked gently.
“Oh yeah, of course.” Zim muttered casually as he slowly landed and released you from his grip.
You wobbled a bit as you regained your balance.
“Thanks for being such good sports, guys! I promise neither of you will regret this!”
And with that, you pulled Zim and Dib into a group hug and gave them each a kiss on the cheek.

Pills (Chapter 27)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This kinda goes without saying but both Raz and Wer, as well as the Murthen race, were created by me (technically so are the Doctor and Agent Callus but they were made specifically for this story so I don't count them as OCs). I was getting kinda tired of just using the Vort people so I used a race I created a long time ago when I was like 10. I promise this story won't shift focus to them. Also here are a few pictures of Raz in case my descriptive terms weren't good enough. Wer is pretty much the same only pink and has dragonfly wings.)
Agent Callus knew his mom would kill him if she found out about this. But right now he didn't see any reason to care. This was for the betterment of mankind, so what if he snuck out at an ungodly hour, during a thunderstorm, on a skool night, to meet a stranger he met online. He needed to get this data to the Swollen Eyeball and he knew he could trust Agent Grub Grub.
The teenager sat near his window sill and watched the rain droplets flow down the glass, waiting for him mom to fall asleep so he could sneak out. He already had the evidence he was going to give the SEN packed up and a meeting spot with Agent Grub Grub already arranged. He was excited, to say the least. He was finally going to expose Zim for the alien he was and manage to complete the one task Dib couldn't.
Ok so maybe Agent Callus was going a bit too far with this whole rivalry thing. If he was being honest with himself, he never technically met Dib. Everything he knew about the teen was either from rumors from his fellow classmates or stories told by other members of the SEN. Others to him all the time the Dib was crazy or unhinged in some way. That he was only seeking attention from others that he couldn't get from his dad. But to Callus he was something of a role model, someone he could look up to. Nobody except Callus had noticed, Dib was trying to save the world.
But now, Callus wasn't so sure. Dib spent a whole week hiding with Zim; talking, laying in the grass, catching fireflies of all things. Was Dib working with Zim now?
Agent Callus shook his head and tried to not think about it. Dib couldn't prove to the world that Zim was an alien, so he was going to succeed where Dib had failed. Despite the fact of how god damn nervous he was.
The agent looked down at his watched and noted the time, his mom had to be asleep by now. Caleb took a deep breath and began to open his window while being as quiet as a church mouse. Once open he threw his bag out into the grass and then began to climb out himself. He opened his umbrella and grabbed his bag after he shut his window. Now that he was out Callus looked to the street and began to head down the road towards his meeting spot.
Dib was watching the rain from his kitchen window, it was Gaz's turn with the TV and he didn't feel like sleeping at the moment. Too many things to think about at the moment.
His train of thought quickly derailed though he Gaz's voice nearly knocked him out of his seat.
"You know you never got me that video."
"What video?" Dib gave his sister a curious look from the kitchen.
His sister was hanging on the back of the couch upside-down, her legs resting on the front of the couch. She was playing on her new console whilst facing him.
"And you're not even using the TV!"
"It's my background noise and I'm talking about the video you promised both me AND the ship. You know the one of Zim spasming out or something on withdrawal or whatever."
"Oh... yeah." Dib scratched the back of his head, a little uncomfortable. To be honest, he was so freaked out and drenched with worry at the time that he didn't even think to record Zim. Not that he could if he did. Zim may have been his worst enemy but the idea of recording him during his most vunerable and terrifying moment. During which Dib was actually worried that Zim would die.
"I ah, didn't get it." Dib looked away.
"Whatever, but you know there's only one thing that'll make up for this." Gaz offered.
"You're kidding! It's pouring out there!" Dib exclaimed, exasperated.
"Yeah, so you better get a move on before the streets flood."
Dib let out a long tired sigh.
"Can't it wait till tomorrow?"
Gaz looked up from her game at him with a look that Dib knew promised death.
Dib sighed again and got up. "Alright! Fine, I'll go."
Gaz nodded and looked back to her game. "Dad left us some spending money on the counter."
Dib rolled his eyes and grabbed said money and slid on a raincoat and boots. "I don't understand why Bloaty's doesn't deliver anymore." He whined as he grabbed an umbrella.
"Pretty sure Zim's robot thing had something to do with it."
"I'd believe that." Dib chuckled to himself in a small moment of mirth before opening the door and looking back to Gaz.
"How am I going to pay back the ship though?"
Gaz only shrugged, not really caring.
Dib rolled his eyes and shut the door behind him.
When the two Irkens found themselves out of the cave, Skoodge couldn't stop looking at the egg in his hands. He could clearly see through the blue translucent shell and to the little Murthlet inside. She was curled up in the fetal position her eyes shut tight. It was kind of like a smeet in an incubation chamber.
Skoodge couldn't help but feel sad at that thought. Irkens were already pretty developed mentally as smeets. But Skoodge had a feeling the same couldn't be said for Murthlets. This was a defenseless creature and he was snatching it for his own personal gain.
Skoodge ran his hand across the side of the shell. It was hard yet squishy, like a thick gelatin. It was moist to the touch as well but was becoming increasingly less so.
"I swear if we are the cause of this child's death-!" Skoodge glared to the Doctor.
"Don't even finish that threat Skoodge. Because I guarantee if that Murthlet dies we wouldn't even make it out of this planet's moon orbit." The Doctor spoke so casually about this whole situation that it was starting to really unnerve Skoodge.
"Are we leaving or not?" Skoodge jumped at the sudden voice and turned around to see Raz now wearing what appeared to be a suit. It was skin tight and covered only her chest, and legs. Her arms and neck had small skintight covers over the area where her gills were. Her body was also covered in bright blue tubes that connected all of the pieces of the suit together. On her back was a water tank filled to the top and on her legs were braces, most likely to help her walk on land. On her first set of shoulders and knees were arm and kneecaps.
She turned her glare to Skoodge and threw something to him. He caught it and looked it over, it looked like a knapsack of some kind. It also had those blue wires sewing into it.
"Put her in that." She gestured her head to the egg before turning to the doctor.
Skoodge quickly did as the Murthen said and pulled the straps over his shoulders so the egg was resting on his chest.
"That bag will keep her moist for at most 3 Murth rotations." Raz practically spat those words.
"Then I suggest we get a move on then, yuhi." The Doctor returned, his cocky yet calculating stare never left the Murthen as he gestured towards their ship.
Skoodge could sense the tension from a mile away and instinctively placed a hand over the egg in worry. If a fight were to break out between the two, Skoodge wouldn't have the ability to help nor hide. He just hoped they would get those weapons soon enough so he could return this child back to her mothers and save Zim.
He also wanted to get to that ship sooner rather than later so he could take his hazard suit off.
Once they reached the ship the Doctor sat Raz in a chair and strapped her to it; her first set of arms chained above her while her second set was strapped to the arms of the chair. Leaving Skoodge to have to sit beside her because that was the only seat left, while the Doctor moved to the cockpit and began to start up the ship.
"Try anything yuhi and the egg will be tossed into space." He threatened once more before they took off.
Raz never stopped glaring at the back of his chair with the malice only a threatened mother could have.
Skoodge fiddled with hands for a second trying to avoid looking at her, feeling incredibly guilty.
Bleech at the time was on the other side of the planet and Murth was huge so the trip could take awhile.
"So uh the Doctor keeps calling you yuhi, what does that mean? Ifyoudon'tmindmeaskingofcourse!" Skoodge blurted out but instantly shrank in his seat when Raz cast her glare down him. He didn't know what it was but something about those dark, glassy eyes unnerved him terribly.
"It's a Murthen slur." She moved to adjust her sitting position. "It means mud dweller or crippled fish."
"You're crippled?" Skoodge asked.
"No, the insult isn't that literal. It just means I'm a lower class. He's referring to me being a foot soldier in the Murthen army." She spoke with bitterness but then paused.
"Hey, while we're tapping into each other's personal business. What's a stompy guy like you doing with a tall scumbag like him. I thought Irkens were segregated according to height or something."
"Yeah, we're uh trying to stop that..." Skoodge scratched at the back of his head nervously.
"By kidnapping eggs?" Raz almost looked curious before turning away.
"No no of course not!" Skoodge shook his hands wildly. "I had no idea the Doctor was going to do any of this!"
Raz cast one more glance at him, a judgemental one. "Really? What did you expect him to do?"
"I-" Skoodge cut himself off as he thought about that. In reality, he had no answers and he knew that Raz knew he knew that.
The Murthen looked away once more and Skoodge sat there in shame and silence.
It took Skoodge nearly 30 minutes to work up the courage to look up at her once more.
"So um... have you thought of any names?" Skoodge tried to make polite conversation. Maybe if he got on her good side he might survive if she chose to betray them.
"My son's name is Lur, the one you are holding is Mur." Raz explained, but this time didn't face him.
"Oh? How old are they?"
This time Raz looked at him but for the first time with fondness and not anger.
"Mur is 3 months and 2 days old and Lur is 3 months 2 and a half days. I had complications laying that one." She almost smiled as she looked to her egg. Her hand closest to him reached for the little Murthlet.
Skoodge's cardiac spooch twisted at the sight. Raz was clearly distraught about her Murthlet being torn from her and was trying to hide her fear. Gently he removed the straps from the sack and moved the egg to her hand.
Raz, in turn, rubbed the shell with her webbed hands and smiled contentedly.
Skoodge looked down in thought for a second then looked back to Raz.
"Raz I swear no matter what happens, I'll make sure you make it back to your nest safely with Mur." He promised.
Raz looked at him almost gratefully. "For both yours and my sake I hope you're right." Raz sighed and sat back in her seat pulling her hand away from the egg. Skoodge nodded and zipped the knapsack and slip the straps back on.
The rain had only gotten worse as the storm progressed through the night. Agent Callus tried to not let it bother him but his small one person umbrella was hardly cutting it. He sighed as he stopped at the bus stop to head to Bloaty's. The meeting location was hardly ideal but Callus WAS meeting someone he met online and having a few people nearby couldn't hurt.
He was about to pull out his phone and play some games when he was interrupted by a familiar face.
"Hey, Caleb." Dib greeted as he stood beside him at the stop.
'How the hell does he know my name?' Callus thought to himself.
"Oh um hi Dib." The younger of the two stumbled.
"Where are you going so late?" Dib smiled gently, making small talk.
"Oh um, Bloaty's. I'm kinda meeting someone." Callus tried to keep his cool but in his head, he was freaking out. This was the first time, Dib and he actually had a real conversation.
"Heh, so am I. Heading to Bloaty's that is. Gaz is forcing me to get her pizza." Dib chuckled to himself.
"But doesn't Bloaty's deliver?"
"Not anymore." Dib chuckled a for a second and looked away.
The two sat in silence for a few minutes before the bus they had been waiting for, drove near, and stopped for them.
Dib stepped on first and dropped his bus fare in the payment box. Callus had to stop and almost smacked himself for his stupidity. He had completely forgotten about the bus fare. He looked away in embarrassment and was about to walk the rest of the way when he was stopped by Dib.
"Hey, where you going?"
"Oh um, I forgot my bus fare." Caleb spoke nervously.
"Don't worry about it I'll pay for you." Dib smiled.
Agent Callus couldn't help but smile back as he got on.
"Thanks, man. I owe ya one."
"Don't worry about it. It's not a problem." Dib shook it off as the two sat down. Aside from a few other teens and an old lady in the back, they were the only two on the bus.
The two sat in silence but on the inside, Callus was having a mental breakdown. He was going to talking to agent GubGrub to talk ABOUT Dib! Now how was he going to do that?!
'Alright, calm down. All he did was pay for your bus fare. You are trying to take care of a potential threat!'
Yeah, a threat, definitely.
Callus sighed and looked out the window to the rainy street. Dib wasn't a bad or insane person. He was just trying to save humanity from an evil space alien. But now Callus wasn't so sure. Maybe Zim had been brainwashing Dib? All the more reason to report Dib to the Swollen Eye.
"Hey, Caleb you alright?"
Dib's voice cut him from his thoughts.
"Wa-huh?"
"We're here, dude." Dib was standing and gesturing to the restaurant with his head.
"Oh, sorry. Thanks." Callus shot upwards and the two walked off the bus.
The two opened their umbrellas, and of course Callus' was complete crap. Dib smiled and moved his much bigger umbrella over and cover the two of them. Callus smiled back nervously and nodded as the two began to walk to Bloaty's.
'Dib is oddly sociable today and nice?'
Callus looked away for a bit debating on that question before looking back to Dib.
"Hey, Dib. If uh you don't mind my asking. You seem I don't know more... friendly today. Is there some good news?" Callus tried his best to word the question without seeming like an asshole, but he had a feeling that he failed.
Dib gave him an odd look before shrugging and nodding. "Eh, that's fair." Dib closed his umbrella as they entered the restaurant.
"I guess. Life's been good to me lately."
He continued forward to the counter to order his food, leaving Callus by the door. Callus glanced around and spotted agent GubGrub in a corner booth, obviously waiting for him. Caleb looked back to Dib for a moment before sighing and heading towards that corner. He slid a piece of paper towards the older man, saying he was agent Callus of the SEN.
GubGrub read it over before handing Callus a paper saying he was agent GubGrub of the SEN. They both then ate their respective papers. To both hide evidence and prove they both know the code of this meeting.
Callus then sat down in the seat across from the older man and nodded.
"So you ready to make your case on Dib's valuation."
Callus bit his tongue for a moment and nodded.
"Then let's begin."

Fictober 2020 Day 1
Prompt #1: “No, come back!”
Fandom: Invader zim but its focused on ocs
Rating: T for teen due to swearing and alcohol consumption
Pairing: Female human oc/male irken oc
Warnings/Tags: swearing, alcohol use, potential alcoholism, slight abo mention
“No, come back!”
Magenta was worried. More like extremely concerned as she had recently had found out a friend of hers had gotten seriously injured, and while it made sense that she wasn’t there to help him out as she was prone to...freaking out, especially when someone close to her was seriously injured, plus she had...overreacted when she found out about it through a group text, but eventually, due to her building frustration, she decided to something that she had done in the past to try and ease her frustrations, which was drinking. Admittedly, it wasn’t the best way as she had a tendency to get even more emotional while drinking, especially when it was for a negative reason like this.
She sighed, taking a swig of the first can of beer, barely grimacing at the taste, too wrapped up in the emotions she desperately wanted to dull. “God...how does anyone actually stand me? Honestly...its a fuckin’ miracle that Dex can even stand to be in the same house as me...” She quickly got into an alcohol induced funk, even wondering how on earth her mate could stand to be with her when she was practically Known for flying off the handle at the slightest inconvenience.
It was at that time that her mate came into their room slowly, and his face was soft as he saw her beating herself up, and berating herself for what she had done earlier. “Dex loves you, stupid. That’s how, and what’s that stink?”
Magenta perked up out of fear as her scent spiked out of the shock of seeing him, and even drops the can of shock. “H-hon...I.. i need to go.” She said as she immediately got up, and tried to move past him, not wanting for him to see her like this. She was his alpha after all, and even if she hadn’t fully grown up knowing about them...there was still the fact that she felt like she needed to be strong and unflappable for him, despite the fact that they had been living together for months, and he was also carrying their child as well.
Dex held her hand, but he fell from the sudden jerk, catching himself barely. Magenta helped steady him, though she was shaking slightly and not making eye contact with him. He looked at her, with concern in his eyes, and his antennae pinned back as well. “W-what is wrong with you, Dex just wants pinkie’s attention. All day Dex has been waiting to talk to you, then you, you flee...”
Those words stung at her as she genuinely didn’t mean to leave him hanging like that...now more than ever he needed her, and she just pushed him away...And yet, she Knew that she couldn’t just let him see her as the mess she looked like, she needed to be Perfect! Especially since he didn’t need anymore stress. So she did the, seemingly, sensible thing and downplayed how she was feeling. “I’m...fine hon. I just don’t want you to see me like this.” She said as she gestured to the disheveled mess that she was looking like currently.
He looked at her with his scent spiking at how stand-offish she’s acting like, due to her being slightly drunk. “I-is pinkie leaving dex...?” He whimpered softly, as he would never want her to leave him, especially not now with a child on the way. However, seeing his reaction, just made her grip her arms so tightly that she began to draw blood. “I...I would never. I just, I can’t, I dont want to let you see me like this...” She shakes her head, feeling absolutely terrible for being caught like this, especially to, in her opinion, one of the most important people in the universe.
Dex began to pace as his mind immediately went to the worst possible conclusions. “Oh Irk it’s too fast, Dex will be better, Dex promises...” He said as his mind continued to race as he didn’t get why exactly his mate, his tallest, was trying to get away from him so badly. It surely had to be something he had done, even if he didn’t realize it, right? Her face softened considerably when she saw him freaking out, and she tries to reach out, but she pulls back her hand quickly. “Hon, I swear it isn’t you. I would never ever blame you for my issues...I just...dont want you seeing me like this...” She was torn between shying away from Dex as she did Not want him seeing her as anything less than composed, or in a situation like what she was in now. She had to be the one who had her stuff together after all, not the one who broke down over anything mildly distressing.
Dex began to get frustrated slightly as she said that, and he frowned as well. “Pinkie looks perfect to Dex every single day, no matter what. Dex is your mate, when Pinkie is stressed, he feels it. When Pinkie is mad and acts happy, Dex feels it. Dex feels you’re angry and pent up, why is Pinkie so- so scared and distraught?” He explained, and also asked because he felt concerned for his mate as she was acting somewhat erratically.
At hearing that, she began to tear up and shudder as she repeated “I can’t” over and over again, as she felt her guilt and shame build up. Especially since as he was pregnant, he should probably stay as calm as he can be so as to not cause any complications with it. Especially since they were both so excited to se their child, so if something happened to them...she didn’t know what they would do. However, this turn of emotions greatly frustrated Dex as he genuinely didn’t know why exactly she was being so closed off with how she was acting as they were practically married at this point. So he asks simply, “Why can’t you?”
That caused her to tear up even more as that very simple question somehow struck her down to her very core. “I-i just can’t... I don’t want to stress you out even more as you being stressed is the very last thing you should be right now.” She explained, trying to still, somehow, try to be composed, despite the fact that she was about one step away from fully breaking down. Which, in turn, caused Dex to lash out due to Magenta being...difficult to deal with currently.
“WHY CAN’T YOU?! What can’t you do?!” He exclaimed, still holding her hands as tears began to roll down his face, which made her look down as she felt Absolutely terrible for trying to withhold what exactly she was doing from him. She still did so, as she still felt shame for even Daring to drink while her mate was looking for her attention all day... “I just...can’t tell you what I was doing...It’s nothing to worry about anyways...” She said as she continued to look down, trying to avoid any eye contact from him, otherwise, she would feel even Worse for what she had done.
At what she had said, Dex just gave a look that said “Fine.” as he backed away from her, a million different thoughts going through his head as he actually seemed stressed as he headed down the stairs, and probably to a friend’s house as he didn’t know what to do with her at that moment, when in reality he didn’t need to do anything.
As that happened, Magenta actually began to freak out slightly as he left her the room. “W-wait! Dex! No, come back!” She cried out, not wanting to be without her mate, her everything, her amazing love and omega. And once he left, instead of wanting to just cry until no tears could come out, she instead dried her tears, and grabbed another beer, wanting to drown out all of the feelings she felt as Everything felt too loud, and she also did it to somehow dull the aching in her heart for her one and only mate.
                                                     ~O~
Eventually, she slowed her speed of chugging down the beer, and when she finally allowed herself to cry, it was a full cry as she wept, already missing her mate, even if it was only temporary, because she missed him so much that her heart ached and yearned for him. “D-dex...I-i’m sorry.. I miss you....” She whimpered, already mentally berating herself for alienating her mate.

In which part of a curse is broken
Tumblr media
First [ARC 1]: In which the human is transformed First [ARC 2]: In which a present is prepared Next: In which there are no anomalies Previous: In which the god of space is met
Growling, Palkia lowered their head, stepping backwards slightly. They looked over the group yet again, and then glanced back at the Lake Guardians beside them.
“I should rest after that fight with Dialga. This is YOUR chance to make this RIGHT,” they told them.
    Uxie nodded, “we understand.”
    “GOOD. Then, I will…” Palkia trailed off. “I will…”
One final look over the group. Finally, Palkia spotted what they were looking for all this time; a sign of weakness. Their gaze landed on Nelvana. She stiffened under their sharp orange eyes.
“HUMAN. I see you have a CURSE…” Palkia’s face twisted into a shrewd grin. “AMNESIA, I see… I could… REMOVE that for you.”
“No thank you,” Nelvana blurted out, tightening her grip around her weapon.
Palkia let out a broken laugh, “I wasn’t ASKING.”
Uxie advanced slightly, while the other Lake Guardians remained in their previous positions. They glanced at Palkia, searching for confirmation of what the space god wanted from them now. Nelvana instinctively stepped back, and found herself slightly relieved when Alex placed his hand on her shoulder. Before Palkia could go on with their new plan, there was a buzz of energy from the rock Edgar still held, and Giratina finally spoke up.
“Palkia!” Giratina cried out, “please, stop wasting your time with this! You’re doing more harm than good, and I can’t keep sitting here and saying nothing!”
Palkia flinched at the sudden voice, eyes searching for their mysterious sibling, only to eventually pinpoint the source to the enchanted stone. What was confusion and almost nervousness quickly faded back into a grin.
“WHY should I listen to YOU?” Palkia snapped, “YOU, who tried to destroy us all centuries ago, working with the ANOMALIES now! HA! You CERTAINLY cannot DO anything from that state, there is NOTHING you can DO.”
“Please, just listen to me!” Giratina pleaded, “you need to think this through! Your actions here could have terrible consequences!”
“You know NOTHING, Giratina!” Palkia responded sharply, “you shouldn’t even BE HERE!”
With that, Palkia opened their mouth again, purple flames flitting out for mere seconds before they blasted an entire beam of dragon-type energy towards Edgar. The duskull threw himself into the wall, disappearing inside to escape the attack, dropping the rock in his hastiness and leaving it to clatter on the ground. Alex swiftly swiped the stone into his bag before Palkia could take notice. Edgar didn’t return from hiding. Giratina was silent, but their presence remained in the stone.
“NOW!” Palkia growled, glancing back at the Lake Guardians. “That HUMAN’S amnesia is to be removed, to remove them from the fight. Prioritize killing the ANOMALIES FIRST, got it?”
Nodding, Uxie turned their gaze to Nelvana, and the other two of the trio advanced to float beside their sibling. Nelvana dug her claws into the ground, bracing herself for the fight, for what Dialga had warned them against, anything, but all she felt was a momentary prodding in her mind, blocked by the psychic shield.
“I’ll back you up,” Ceebee assured her quietly.
“Master Palkia, there is a psychic shield protecting the entire group,” Uxie informed them.
Palkia snarled, “fine! Then KILL the celebi FIRST!” they ordered.
Nodding once more, this time the Lake Guardians turned to look back down at Ditto, who flinched away under their gazes. The sludge-shaped pokemon’s reluctance and exhaustion was suddenly forced into aggression as their body began to change and shift into a form that only Nelvana found familiar from the dimensional scream vision. The now malformed houndoom let out a gurgling howl before lunging at Ceebee, flames already beginning to escape their maw.
Before they could even get within feet of Ceebee in the air, however, the ditto-turned-houndoom was tackled out of the air by a blur of green. Alex slammed Ditto to the ground, hissing back at the strange creature before punching it with his fist powered by electric energy. Snapping their sharp teeth at the grovyle’s throat without any success, the larger pokemon began to kick at the one on top of them, and the two began to tussle. Wrestling to beat the other, eventually the imposter houndoom managed to shove Alex to the ground instead, pinning him with their forepaws. Flames once again began to burn at the pokemon’s mouth, their fangs sharp and burning the brightest.
Lunging into the fray, Tsuki dove over to the fighting pair. She sank her teeth into the throat of Ditto before they could pull off their fire fang attack, yanking them off the grovyle and tossing them away against the nearby wall. Ditto splatted against the stone, the form of a houndoom dripping away as they returned to their original pink form.
    “You alright?” Tsuki asked Alex.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Alex assured her; though scratched up a bit after that tussle, he was truthful in his words.
Dissatisfied, Uxie projected the memory of a new pokemon for Ditto to transform into. Whimpers turning into hisses, the transform pokemon began changing forms once again, this time growing much taller and adorning their body with feathers rather than fur. Ignoring how they still weren’t complete in some aspects, and how the feathers appeared almost sickly, Ditto had transformed into a blaziken, just like those from Scorched Plains. Keahi’s eyes widened at the sight, and zie winced, stepping backwards slightly.
This didn’t slow Tsuki or Alex, however, who threw themselves back into the fight against the imposter. The absol’s horn glowed with psychic energy, going in to lead her attack with a psycho cut, while the grovyle took a moment to boost his speed, lavender energy pulsing from him momentarily as he used agility. A blaze enveloped the ditto-turned-blaziken’s leg, and they kicked at Tsuki as she lunged at them, forcing her to take the brunt of the hit to get off her own attack.
Meanwhile, from behind the Lake Guardians, Edgar carefully moved out from hiding. Silently, he began to ready a confuse ray attack, which he shot towards Uxie. The legendary spun around as he launched the attack, managing to move out of the way of the move just in time. Scowling, a golden glow appeared from under Uxie’s eyelids, and they shot a rainbow beam back at the duskull. Startled by the retaliation and unable to dodge, Edgar was struck with the full force of the extrasensory attack. He let out a yelp, before dropping to the ground unconscious.
Immediately afterwards, Uxie was stuck by a shadow ball. Dusknoir advanced towards the legendary trio, already prepping another ghost-type attack for them. Seizing the opportunity, Damien dashed over to where Edgar was, dragging the smaller ghost-type pokemon into the shadows with him so he could heal his friend without the risk of being attacked again.
Palkia growled, “MUST I DO EVERYTHING MYSELF?”
Leaving the Lake Guardians to deal with Dusknoir, Palkia took a single step towards Ceebee, swiping a claw at her. Zipping out of the way, Ceebee retaliated by clapping her hands together, blasting Palkia back with a dazzling gleam. Palkia yowled, and was struck by a kick of sand to the face right afterwards followed by a bonemerang attack.
“We’ve got your back too!” Keahi told Ceebee, and Nelvana nodded.
Letting out a roar, Palkia threw their signature move at the trio against them, leaving them to just barely scramble out of the way with the previous aid of the sand attack. Recognizing the status move’s use here, Keahi dove back at the legendary with a quick attack, following it up with another sand attack to trip Palkia up more.
Creating seeds on her own hands, Ceebee lobbed several leech seeds at Palkia at well, the tiny items digging into the larger pokemon’s skin to steal their energy and return it to the celebi. She hadn’t been hit yet, so the healing was currently useless, but she knew she wouldn’t be able to avoid being hit forever.
In the back, Nelvana glimpsed Damien and Edgar returning to the battle, going to help Dusknoir against the Lake Guardians. She tried not to pay them too much mind, not wanting to get distracted in her own battle, but she found it good to know that not only were those two back but they were helping where their typing would be the most beneficial.
Through squinted eyes and a snarling face, Palkia held up a hand, collecting a swirling blue aura energy in it and turning it into a sphere before throwing it in the direction of Keahi. The attack wildly missed the torchic at first, but looped around and struck zim in the back, knocking zim onto the ground. Zie struggled to get back to zir feet for a few moments before managing to just barely pull zirself into a crouch.
Satisfied with this outcome, knowing that the torchic, while not quite defeated, wouldn’t be able to get up and fight again properly for at least a couple minutes, Palkia repeated the same attack against Ceebee. Nelvana tried striking Palkia with another bonemerang attack to force them to lose their focus, but the legendary still pulled off the move and hit Ceebee with the aura sphere. She resisted the fighting-type move, but it was still damage done.
Wincing, Ceebee lifted her hand towards Palkia, creating a barrage of magical leaves to strike the legendary with. Like the aura sphere attack used before this, magical leaf never missed, and Ceebee didn’t hesitate to continue repeating the attack again and again to continue swarming Palkia with bladed leaves.
Nelvana glanced up at Ceebee and Palkia battling. She teetered on her feet for a few moments of hesitation before hurrying over to Keahi’s side, helping zim stand fully.
“You should go see if Damien has an oran berry for that,” she told zim.
“Will you two be able to hold off Palkia on your own?” Keahi asked in response.
Nelvana paused, “…I don’t know, but you’ll be able to help us more when you aren’t an inch away from defeat. Can you walk there on your own?”
Keahi nodded, “yeah, yeah I’ll try… You should keep helping Ceebee, don’t worry about me. You two need to protect each other in this fight.”
Though hesitant, Nelvana let go of her partner. Keahi staggered, but managed to remain upright. The pair nodded at each other before Nelvana turned back towards the legendary and mythical in battle. She took one last moment to focus herself again, before rushing back into the fight, throwing her club at Palkia to get off another bonemerang attack.
Annoyed by the extra damage they were taking, Palkia finally turned their attention to the cubone again. They snarled at Nelvana, who stiffened at the scary face. Roaring, they let loose a hydro pump attack next, still widely missing despite Nelvana’s speed being lowered. Growing increasingly frustrated at this, they used a different water-type move, creating a large orb of water and sending it in a wave at the cubone instead, this time knocking her back against a wall, where she was left to recover.
Nelvana groaned, using her bone to help support herself as she stood. Water clung to her hide and only seemed to weigh her down even more. Regardless, she took a couple shaky steps forward, stubbornly returning into the fray; she could swap out once Keahi got back, but she needed to keep supporting Ceebee in the meantime.
Ceebee’s leech seed and periodically using recover were keeping her afloat for now, but even she knew she couldn’t defeat Palkia on her own. While neither Nelvana nor Keahi were the best type matchups against Palkia, Ceebee was thankful for their help in this fight.
Ultimately, however, Palkia got off the hit they wanted. As Ceebee took another moment to use recover to heal herself from all the aura spheres, Palkia finally seized their opportunity, striking her with their power gem attack. Cut off from her healing and already weakened from the aura spheres, Ceebee dropped.
“Ceebee!” Nelvana yowled, forcing her aching legs to hurry over to her ally, to pick up the fight where the celebi had left off.
She didn’t get that chance. In her haste, she forgot the very reason it was especially important to protect the psychic-type of the group. Momentarily, Nelvana’s gaze met Palkia’s, and everything went black. She was unconscious before hitting the ground, her body going limp and crumpling onto the rock floor.
    She was human.
She had two parents, Karl and Nikki, and two siblings, Ashleigh and Quintin. Her mother had black hair and Ashleigh had dirty blonde hair, but everyone else had brown hair. All of them except Nikki had blue eyes, and while both parents were left-handed, all three children were right-handed. Nelvana was taller than both of her siblings, which she took pride in. Her father was more withdrawn than her mother, but both did their best to support their children, just in different ways. Karl enjoyed scrounging up old games to play together. Nikki always wanted a proper garden, for more than just food. Ashleigh liked staying up late and talking about everything. Quintin was quiet, but exceptionally bright, and did his best to memorize everything about pokemon.
She had a pokemon in the family as well. There was a purloin who lived with then as well for all of Nelvana’s life, her name was Achta. Achta, as Nelvana’s parents told her, offered to help them when they had first taken this cave as a home. Achta offered to help protect and forage for them in return for the shelter and support. Aside from her parents, Achta was the one who helped teach Nelvana a lot of the pokemon language when the young human showed great interest.
She was in a cave with her family. This was their home. This was where she was in most of her early memories. As her parents would tell her in her later years, they had once lived with a larger community of humans, but moved somewhere without as many people to start a family. The cave wasn’t much, no one in the family were particularly skilled in construction, but it was home.
She and her siblings everything they knew from their parents in their home, from linguistics to math to their survival skills. For a couple years, when Nelvana was around five years old, there were a couple other human families that moved into the area, and the parents decided to school all the children together, and let them make friends and learn compassion. Eventually though, Ashleigh’s friend Marcus disappeared. His family left the area soon after. After that, the security around the area felt broken, and the families began interacting with each other less and less, until Nelvana’s family was the only one in the area again.
She remembered that despite the dangers of the dark world around them, the idea of exploration grabbed Nelvana’s interest. Once she and her siblings were allowed to wander out a bit more, Nelvana would go climbing to the tops of trees and look out into the monochrome horizon. She was smart enough not to wander too far from home, but there was still the fascination to see more, and to imagine what it must have looked like when there was color and light.
She was young and she had many nightmares. Many of them repeated themselves, and she could never quite figure out how to solve the problem before she got eaten, or chased into the pit, or simply scared awake. Each time, she would run back to her parents and stay with them for the rest of the night for protection. This happened nearly every night, to the point her parents began growing concerned that their child had an unusual number of nightmares. One night though, they stopped. Nelvana still got nightmares, but not nearly as many, and never the same ones she used to get. No one knew why this happened at all, but they were thankful that everyone could sleep more peacefully.
She asked many questions. Many of those questions could not be answered. She asked about what the world was once like, and why things were so grim now. She asked if they could fix things someday. She asked why none of the gods were doing anything to save them. These were all questions that were expected to be asked by a child growing up in this timeline, but that didn’t make them any easier to answer.
She started carrying a stick with her when she went outside. It was large, and could provide more protection for her than her fists. Her father was teaching her and her siblings to use actual weapons, but they weren’t experienced enough to use them outside yet. Nelvana never ended up using the stick, but it made her feel safer to carry around, now that she was older and understood the dangers even more than before.
She had been strongly warned against Dusknoir and the sableye army. Her parents told her and her siblings that neither Dusknoir nor the sableyes should ever come by the area, nor have any reason to harm any of them if they did show up, but that it would be easy to become a target, and it would be easier to hide instead of confront. This warning didn’t come into use until many years after first being mentioned.
She was outside when she heard them. The rumbling that could only belong to the feet of many, many creatures. Nelvana knew that there weren’t any other groups that travelled with so many numbers to create such a noise as they travelled; she had been warned about this. Too far away from home to run back and too scared to risk accidentally leading an army back home anyway, Nelvana ran until she found some rocks to hide behind. Just as she crouched, however, she saw something else. A treecko, trudging along nearby, not seeming to notice the distant sound of many someones approaching. Someone as small and as distracted as the young ‘mon would be easy prey…
She went and dove over, grabbing the treecko and swiftly moving her hand to cover their mouth as she hid them both behind the rock again. Not taking to being suddenly grabbed, Treecko began punching Nelvana wherever their arms could reach, and they bit their tiny teeth into her hand, drawing blood. She had to bite her own lip to not make any noise from the pain, but she kept her grip firm around the smaller being. Suddenly though, Treecko stopped, as they finally cued in to the steadily growing noise of sableyes thundering towards their direction. The pair were silent as the wave of dark purple ran by them, passing in front of the rock and not noticing the two behind it in their hurry to get wherever they had to do. Staying quiet even moments after the army left, Nelvana slowly moved her hands away from the pokemon, lifting her bleeding hand up to examine the damage. Treecko quickly jumped off her lap and moved a few feet away from her, but paused and turned back to face her.
“˙noʎ ʞuɐɥʇ pu∀ ˙ʎɹɹoS” he told her in a mumble, staring down at his feet.
She blinked, “¿uɐɯnɥ ʞɐǝds no⅄” she blurted out.
“Uh… ¿ʇıq ǝlʇʇıl ∀” he replied, blinking back.
“I… I can speak a bit of pokemon too,” Nelvana told him.
She continued speaking to Treecko. For whatever reason, loneliness, curiosity… he stuck around. Though their conversation was shaky between two languages, they managed to carry on a small conversation. He told her that he was alone, and she offered to let him come back to her home with her family. It was a risky offer, knowing that there were people that would take advantage of kindness and rob them blind, but she saw the still very recent scar across his muzzle and knew she had to help. She knew he wasn’t bad. He was hesitant, but eventually agreed.
She brought Treecko back home with her. She was worried her parents would be upset about her bringing a stranger back home with her. She was right, but not completely. They focused on helping Treecko first, asking what happened and properly fixing up the wound on his nose. It would be later that night that they would warn her against bringing random people back home with her, but they still accepted Treecko into the household for as long as he would need. He acted like he wouldn’t stay long, but before any of them knew it, he had become part of the family.
She named him Alex when he told her that he didn’t have a name, but wanted one. They sat for hours writing down ideas, mostly his suggestions that she wrote down for him, but in the end, he picked one of her few ideas. It had only been a couple months since he had been brought to the cave with her, but they had already become close friends. When the treecko had first moved in, Nelvana dedicated herself more than ever before to learning the pokemon language, and Alex set himself to the challenge of learning the human language back. It was challenging, to learn a language, but they set about it at a steady pace together, and this experience strengthened their bond.
She didn’t ask much about what happened to him before they met, as he had been pretty tight lipped when first arriving, and she didn’t know if he would be comfortable with it. Alex had eventually told her about his past, being an only child to two parents, that had been mercilessly killed days before he had met Nelvana by Dusknoir, because of how his parents sought to collect time gears and change the past to fix the future. Alex didn’t know much about the mission itself; his parents hadn’t mentioned everything to him yet, but he told Nelvana he still wanted to follow in their footsteps. Nelvana had been hesitant at first, this being a wrench thrown into what structure her life had, but she knew that she wanted to help too.
She didn’t bring the idea up to her parents about her decision for weeks after telling Alex. They still weren’t certain of where their own plan would take them, and didn’t want to throw unnecessary stress onto them in the meantime. Instead, they continued living the best life they could together with their family. This lasted another few months.
She had her first dimensional scream vision when touching a strange fruit her and Alex had found when exploring. They were curious about the unfamiliar plant, and after discussing the idea for a few minutes, Nelvana reached out to grab it for a closer inspection. She felt dizzy and witnessed a scene of a bidoof and a shinx, the former of which eating the very same fruit, and reporting feeling sick afterwards. When she came to after the vision, Nelvana found Alex sobbing into her shoulder, his tiny arms exhausted from attempting to shake her awake. The encounter terrified the both of them, and they hurried back home, the fruit forgotten. Achta was the only one who had an idea of what had happened, and she explained what the dimensional scream was to the pair. Stories of humans carrying the dimensional scream ability were carried around pokemon by word of mouth, and she had heard the tale many years before Nelvana’s parents moved into the cave.
She had her second dimensional scream vision a couple weeks later, and when this one showed her that a time gear was in the nearby dungeon of Treeshroud Forest. After this, she told her parents everything. She had talked to them about the first dimensional scream vision when they had gotten home after the incident, but now she told them about her and Alex’s plans to travel back in time to save the future. They were hesitant and scared, as good parents should be, but eventually supported the idea. It wasn’t fair to live in such a desolate land, and if they had a chance to change that… perhaps it was worth the risk. If the dimensional scream had proven anything, Nelvana and Alex had a chance for success, or so they believed.
She left her home almost two years after meeting Alex. They had taken months to prepare themselves and try finding other time gears in advance. While they were unable to locate any other time gears from the safety of the cave, they were confident that the dimensional scream would be able to point them in the right direction once they got going. Biding her possibly final farewells to her family… they were off.
They still had to travel quite a ways to get to Treeshroud Forest, even if it was the closest dungeon. They had to pass through another forest to get there, which was the territory of a large poochyena pack. Deciding to risk the more direct path, knowing this would be the beginning of many battles to come, they were confronted by the pack. One of the poochyenas managed to jump up and sink their teeth into Nelvana’s left shoulder, but was thrown off and pounded away by Alex. They managed to defeat most of the pack, but when Mightyena showed up, and began counting down… they took their chance to flee. Alex would perch on Nelvana’s right shoulder, even long after the wound had healed to just scars.
They completed the Treeshroud Forest dungeon together, and took the time gear out with them, only come face to face with Dusknoir and his sableye army. He remembered Alex, remembered the scar he gave the treecko after killing his parents. They fought. There were so many sableye. The time gear shattered. Nelvana cried, she cried but she grabbed the pieces, holding them close. She was scared that their quest had already ended. Dusknoir demanded the pieces. She refused. He cut her cheek; a threat of more pain if she didn’t comply. She still refused. Breaking out from his fight against some of the sableye, Alex rushed over to help protect Nelvana; his partner. He glowed, glowing white as his form changed and grew and suddenly it was a grovyle that stood to defend the human and not a treecko. They escaped with the time gear pieces.
They decided to keep collecting time gears despite the first one breaking. Maybe they could fix it. They had to try. They kept going.
They continued to fight Dusknoir at every turn, but they refused to give up. They hid when they had no plans of which dungeon to look in next, and then would keep going when they got a lead. The other time gears had guards. They managed to trick Uxie with a mirror, erasing the legendary’s own memories of the time gear they guarded. Knowing the likelihood of encountering the other Lake Guardians, they plotted other strategies so that they wouldn’t have as much of a close call as they had with Uxie. Despite that, Dusknoir and his henchlings continued being their biggest foes.
She never truly got used to the dimensional scream visions, but she understood their importance, and Alex always made sure to watch over her while she experienced the vision. Often, they would warn them about nearby dangers and important locations, but there was one she couldn’t quite wrap her head around. There was Moltres, attacking them. She could hear Alex yelling, there was a torchic running nearby. But most importantly, there was color. She told Alex about this part, and it brought them new hope that they would be able to make it to the past. She didn’t tell him that she had a terrible feeling that she wouldn’t make it herself.
They had collected their third time gear when Alex mentioned the Planetary Investigation Team. His parents spoke of it; they were technically a part of it. Deciding to see if maybe this group could help them, they located the base and made their way in. As it turned out, while they were welcoming, the Planetary Investigation Team did not approve of the two teams attempting to save the world on their own, especially after learning why Alex was no longer travelling with his parents, but with a human instead. The Planetary Investigation Team did agree that this was the best plan, but feared Dusknoir too much to act on it, instead using their time to continue research. In the end though, someone was willing to give them directions forward.
“You two are truly determined in this mission, hm?” Torkoal asked them, politely guiding them off to his room.
They both nodded. Torkoal smiled softly back at them.
“That’s good. We need that sort of determination in these times. The others are determined, but their hope is faltering. Many of our members have attempted to follow this plan with no avail. You may think that the others here are cowards, but they have only seen brutal failure, and they do not want to continue repeating that. Even though should this plan succeed, it will change everything for the better, they no longer want to make that risk themselves,” Torkoal explained, “however, I can tell that you two will not give up. I do not remember where the other time gears now, I’m afraid that my memory isn’t what it used to be. I do remember who will be able to help you though. You need to find Celebi.”
“Celebi?” Alex repeated, gripping Nelvana’s shoulder as he leaned his neck closer down from his perch to Torkoal to listen more clearly.
“Find Dusk Forest. That is where Celebi hides,” Torkoal told them, “you will not be able to travel back in time without them. Primal Dialga has the door locked to travel through time. The time gears are the key, but only Celebi can use them,” he continued, “I wish you both the best of luck. To activate the dimensional scream, you must have a terrific bond. Do not lose sight of that.”
They didn’t linger around the Planetary Investigation Team much longer after that, and though it felt bitter to see so many struggling to hold onto their hope, it was still somewhat reassuring to know there were others on their side.
They travelled out to Dusk Forest together. For once, this could almost be considered peaceful. There was the dungeon, but no other pokemon had made their home in the area. Clearly Dusknoir was aware that there was no time gear there, and didn’t follow them into the area. The strange sense of security felt more unnerving after everything they had been through, but in the end, there were no major dangers.
They met Celebi, who was pink and not green, who was she and not they. They explained their plans, and she enthusiastically agreed to join them. She knew where the last two time gears would be, and admitted that she had wanted to do something about this timeline for awhile, but never knew how. Alex disliked Celebi at first, thinking her to be a coward for hiding here for her entire life and never helping anyone. Nelvana reminded him that she probably feared Primal Dialga as much as the rest of them, and despite being a mythical, didn’t stand any chance on her own. He accepted this reasoning, and it didn’t take long for the new addition to grow on him. When she requested a name, “to be remembered by,” Nelvana eventually suggested Ceebee, and Ceebee found it to be perfect.
They continued on their mission together. Despite having a new group member, their travels didn’t get any easier. Dusknoir had no qualms adding Ceebee to his targets list, and continued finding new ways to be an obstacle to the group.
They had close calls. Nelvana’s wound on her belly bled more than Alex’s on his chest, despite both being from sableye, and she felt dizzy from the blood loss, slowly panicking even after they had removed themselves from immediate danger. Alex got shoved down to the ground on his belly in a moment of weakness, and the sableye tore his back apart. Were it not for Ceebee’s dazzling gleam, they likely would not have gotten out in time. It took awhile to recover from that incident, but Nelvana and Ceebee remained with him the entire time. Ceebee told Alex how Nelvana cried so much that Ceebee had to apply most of the bandages, and how Nelvana ended up falling asleep from exhaustion from staying up on watch for so long. The human and grovyle pair stayed even closer together afterwards, to protect each other, to never leave each others’ sides. He vowed to never turn his back on an enemy again, even for a second.
They once had Dusknoir offer alliance to them. Nelvana was forced to a kneel before him, her thigh bleeding from more claw marks. Alex and Ceebee continued being swarmed by sableye. Dusknoir offered that if they changed sides, “Master Dialga” could give them power over this land; clearly, they were strong enough to be useful to the corrupt legendary. Nelvana turned him down, and when he began opening his mouth to drag them all into the spirit realm. She slashed her sword across his mouth, and in his agonising pain, the trio had time to escape. Dusknoir never seemed capable of trying to utilize his ability again after that, but Nelvana only felt a twinge of guilt after everything that foe had done to them before.
They collected all the time gears together. Sitting, hidden behind a rock shelter they had made nearby Temporal Tower, they celebrated their last night before the most important part of this mission. After travelling back in time, they would no longer have to fear Dusknoir or Primal Dialga. All they would have to do is make a teleport gem, and enjoy the sunshine until the final step; destroying the meteor itself.
“Hey… I’m not big on speeches, you know, but…” Nelvana began, sitting up slightly to address her teammates. “We’ve been through a lot, and I just want you both to know that you’re my best friends. No matter what happens in there-“
“We’re going to succeed,” Alex interrupted, grinning confidently even though he was fully aware of the possibility of failure.
She smiled back, “of course we are,” Nelvana agreed, “but as I was saying… no matter what does happen, I don’t regret anything. I’m so glad to have met you both, and that we’re out here doing amazing things together.”
“Aww! That’s super sweet of you to say, Nel!” Ceebee squealed, “you guys are my best friends! I didn’t really… know anyone before meeting you two, but you’ve showed me so much and made me a part of your group… I can’t wait to be able to see the past together; it’s going to be wonderful,” she continued.
“It is, it really is…” Alex murmured, “you guys are… family to me. I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t met either of you. Probably dead.”
“Don’t joke about that!” Nelvana snapped, but she was smiling and her eyes were teary and she was just so… happy to have this moment together.
They hugged together, staying close and talking about what the time before this dark land would be like, and what they wanted to do together when they still had time. Deep down, they all feared that all those hopes would never come to fruition, but they didn’t dare say it. They all knew the risks, they were all prepared, so why dwell on the negatives when they could dream for the positives?
They entered Temporal Tower together after they had rested. Primal Dialga awaited at the top, as did Dusknoir and what was likely nearly all the sableyes in the land that he could rally up. There were a few other pokemon mixed in the hoard, but they were unfamiliar and blended in to the sea of ghost-types. They fought. Ceebee took the time gears, to add them into the pedestal so that they could open the portal. Nelvana and Alex, all they had to do was hold off the swarm long enough for Ceebee to sneak by and do her job. There was fear. There was the one broken time gear. Ceebee insisted it would work, but this was their first and only chance to try. After what felt like ages, the swirling portal opened wide.
She was following Alex to the portal when it hit her, a shadow ball to the back. Nelvana crumpled to the ground. She heard shouting, but between that hit and all the others she had taken in the fight, her head swam just trying to fully stand up, leaving her to lean on her partner as they crawled towards the portal.
“Ceebee!” Alex called out, turning his head back to look at the celebi as the pair neared the portal. “Ceebee! Come on! We’re almost there!”
“You have to go without me!” Ceebee yelled back weakly as she fluttered just barely out of reach of some of the sableye, who lunged up at her as she struggled to hold open the portal. “I can’t keep it open much longer, you have to go!”
“We aren’t leaving you! We were supposed to do this together!” Alex screamed at her, anger hiding his desperation.
They just barely ducked as one of the sableye leapt at the pair. Alex swallowed his breath, looking down at Nelvana, who looked back up at him weakly. If they stayed too much longer, they would lose this fight. With one final glance back, he guided his partner through the portal, leaving Ceebee behind as it closed behind them.
They carefully made their way through the void that was the portal through time. Ceebee had told them what it should look like, and that all they had to do was make it to the end, and they could be dropped out at the right time. Thus, in silence, the two began their trek.
“H-Hey, are you alright?” Alex asked Nelvana, eventually breaking the silence.
    “Yeah…” Nelvana murmured back, “I think so…”
“That’s good, I think we’re almost ther-“ Alex was cut off as the world around them began to shake violently, swirling around them. “Woah! Hang on!”
    “I… I can’t!”
They did their best to hold on, but arms wrapped around each other was torn into barely gripping each others’ hands. Nelvana could feel her strength leaving her, the pain of her wounds and the spinning that this portal had turned into made her feel dizzy and hard to focus. She let go.
She was thrown out of the portal, and vaguely she knew she was falling, falling through the sky. Barely, the recognized that the sky was a light blue, before her vision slowly faded to black, and she lost consciousness.
Distantly, Nelvana knew that this had to be it. Her conscious thoughts barely surfaced through the sea of memories to know that this, this was the moment Gardevoir found her. This would be where her memories got wiped in the first place. Finally, this would be ov-
She woke up in another void. This, she knew, was the spirit realm. Or, some form of it. She had visited it far too many times between dreams with Gardevoir, and that encounter after the Rayquaza fight to not recognize it. So, this was where they went after disappearing.
She was human, and for a moment this was strange to her, after being a cubone for so long. Despite that, her long buried muscle memory kicked in at least, and she stood up to her full height, beginning to look around. With any luck, she would be able to find everyone else who had been erased when time was reset.
She did find Alex and Ceebee first, and they had a joyous reunion, as they all feared the idea of being separated from each other. They already had been forced away from the rest of Team Galaxy, the idea of being then separated from each other here would have been devastating, though none of them felt like bringing that fear up despite all feeling it. Alex asked if Nelvana had her memories back here, to which she had to reluctantly admit that she still didn’t b̶u̶t̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶i̶d̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶i̶d̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶i̶d̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶w̶a̶n̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶w̶a̶k̶e̶ ̶u̶p̶
They began searching the spirit realm for others. Alex perched on Nelvana’s shoulder, just as he always did when she was human, and Ceebee fluttering beside them. Even though Nelvana’s amnesia would be a hinderance to catching up with any old allies, they still all agreed it would be good to do so while they had the chance. They still all hoped that they would be able to return to life soon, so this would be their last chance for any goodbyes.
They found others, but the first familiar face turned out to be Dusknoir. Though they tried avoiding him, he approached them, and reluctantly they turned to face him. He shook in place, his eye not quite focusing on any of them despite looking in their direction. Somehow the smile on his belly seemed to stretch wider, but it didn’t look any happier.
“What do you want?” Alex snapped, “you lost. Do you have to get any last-minute threats out at us?”
“Was it worth it?” Dusknoir sneered back, a broken laugh escaping him. “You succeeded but you’re gone now, and so is everyone else. Was it worth it?”
“Yes, it was worth it,” Nelvana told him, “of course it was.”
“Then why don’t you look happy?” Dusknoir questioned.
She steeled her gaze despite her shaking hands, “because, when we went back in time, we met the most amazing people. And we miss them,” she told him, “but this was all still worth it. Because even if we never see them again, at least they will live a happy future in a world that wants to live too. If I had to make this choice, I would do it hundreds of times over without regretting anything, just to know that they will be able to live out their lives, and so will generations after them.”
They waited for an answer from Dusknoir, but he didn’t respond. He only teetered back and forth, hands curling in and out of fists. His gaze, his expression didn’t change.
“Let’s leave. We don’t need to spend our time talking to him,” Ceebee told them, “it isn’t worth it.”
They agreed, and began leaving, but then, then was when Dusknoir spoke up again.
“Are you looking for your family, human?” he called out, “you won’t find them! You never will!” he continued, voice raising on the edge of laughter as he went on.
“What are you talking about?” Despite her instincts, Nelvana turned back and addressed Dusknoir again.
“They’re gone! I killed them myself!” Dusknoir answered, laughter bubbling forward but sounding shaky and almost like he wanted to do anything but laugh. “You won’t find them here! I killed them! After you went back in time!”
    “You’re bluffing,” Alex hissed.
“Go ahead and look then! You’ll see!” Dusknoir taunted, voice broken. “You’ll see!” He wasn’t lying.
“…Let’s go,” Nelvana growled, turning away from Dusknoir again, leaving him behind.
They never did find Nelvana’s family in the spirit realm. Just as they could never be expected to find Alex’s parents, or anyone else who died; they all had long moved on to the proper afterlife by now. They did find others though, they spoke with the Planetary Investigation Team again mostly, but when conversation ran dry, the trio went off and sat by themselves, waiting for Gardevoir.
They leapt back up when Gardevoir finally arrived, telling them that Dialga had promised to bring them back. She led them away from the others from the dead timeline, and brought them home.
Nelvana’s eyes shot open, and she gasped for her breath, tears already beginning to form and stream down her face despite only barely haven woken up. She continued gasping, choking on her own breath as her mind attempted to grasp everything she had seen. She couldn’t even focus on where she was, what was around her. Vaguely, she wondered if she was still in the battlefield, but she couldn’t manage to see for herself as the tears in her eyes turned everything misty.
“Nel!” Keahi’s voice called out to her, but Nelvana could barely let out a gurgle of a response.
Orange, orange and yellow faded into sight through the darkness around her. Nelvana reached out with shaking hands, grasping the feathers of her partner and pulled zim as close to her as she could while she continued to sob, clinging on to the one thing that could ground her. Keahi let out a meek squawk at suddenly being grabbed, but didn’t resist whatsoever, allowing zirself to provide whatever comfort zie could in this moment. She couldn’t stop thinking about her own past, about the things better left off forgotten, about the things she now managed to remember when everyone else forgot.
Her headgear rattled, already muffled by the torchic that Nelvana continued holding close to her. Despite that, the painful sound echoed in wherever they were, and became the only sound that pierced her thoughts.

Zadr week phase 2: dumbass in distress
And a short story I wrote for it :)
It had been 1 week since the truce.
One week since Dib had foolishly thought to give the smelly alien a chance. For one week Dib had put the fate of humanity into the hands of an outsider, and in one week Zim had proven himself trustworthy.
There was no denying that Zim had changed, or maybe its Dib who saw him differently. Knew him better. But for a while Zim had been the only one to listen, to sympathize. The earth was not Zim's motivation, rather, he and Zim shared a driving force.
As much as Dib hated to admit it, it was approval.
Dib still didn’t fully trust the space bug but he had been so yearning for companionship that the desire to fight dwindled on its own. Zim was just a kid…like him. Even though he deserved to be suspended in the glass tube that imprisoned him now, Dib could not help but feel as if the fear and embarassment on the Irkens face was his own.
However, none of this is the reason for the twisting of his gut. The heat rising in his face and the bile in his throat at the sheer disgusting nature of what he was witnessing.
His Father stood in front of the tube gesturing wildly and announcing things to the camera people who crowded his lab.
“Yes as you can see here I have discovered genuine alien life living amongst us.” He boomed to the press. “Until now extraterrestrial entities have been entirely theoretical, but with this discovery I have proved not just the existence but—”
Dib backs away quickly, tuning out his fathers words.
He almost vomits for the 4th time today, his mind reels at the injustice of it all. His father, the man who never believed him for a moment about Zim being an alien, standing in front of the entire world declaring his discovery.
It had happened so fast. Zim had stayed at his house every day since the truce. 'for research, Research I say!' he had proclaimed from on top of the dining room table. Dib had not snickered at the antics. Not even slightly. When Zim had asked to stay over the next day and the next Dib had started to suspect Zim's “base” was a bit more lonely than he let on. It wasn’t a big deal, his dad had never noticed any of the other paranormal happenings that were right under his nose, why would Zim be any different?
All it had taken was one night. Zim had snuck into the kitchen to raid the twice already raided snacks cabinet. Dib didn’t blame him, it must be boring not sleeping every night. Zim had traversed the house without Dibs knowledge, and without knowing about Professor Membranes non-existent sleep schedule.
Zim had not worn his disguise.
Now he was witnessing a nightmare. Dib had thought the worst thing that could happen was Zim's success at taking over the human race. Now he knew at least then no one could say he didn’t try. But now everything he had worked for was uprooted and dismissed. Overshadowed by the prestigious individual who called himself Dibs father.
Dib walks to the living room expecting to find Gaz not caring on the couch. To his surprise she’s not there. He considers going to his room to brood but he doesn’t think he can stand to be among his alien tracking gear right now. He resigns to brood in the living room and hope the press keeps the noise down.
He sits on the couch and assumes the brooding position. Knees tucked to his chest with his elbows resting on them. His fingers steeped in front of his face as he stares intently at the ground. It isnt a very comfortable position but that isnt the point.
He knows he should be happy. Zim is caught, the earth is safe and he’ll finally get to know how Erkins work. His pride has taken a massive hit but that isnt too out of the ordinary in his life, he honestly should have expected this is how things would work out. But he couldn’t shake the thought that it was supposed to be him. He should be the only one to cut Zim open and learn how he worked.
He had chased Zim all over the solar system. Hed matched the Erkin in cunning and technological prowess from day one. Now that Zim was finally defeated and it was time to reap the rewards Dib felt he was the only one who should be congratulated.
He earned this dammit!
As for Zim? He was growing to tolerate him but in the end he still wanted him dead. Zim was a horrible space cockroach who deserved to be cut up and studied for science. But Dib still felt that letting anyone other than Zims designated rival do it…in a way it stripped Zim of a dignified defeat. It was just wrong.
Dib found his mind wandering to Zim, suspended in that tube surrounded and critiqued like an art project. His face held such fear, there were wires and tubes coming out if his pack. His arms had cords pumping a strange liquid into his bloodstream.
Dib's knees started to ache from holding his very productive brooding position, he stretched them out to get the blood flowing back to his toes and found he was no longer brooding.
And his face was wet.
He took a quick survey of the room to find the source of the water. Then the realization hit him like a punch to the gut.
He was crying.
Why?! That was so unlike him! He had dealt with disappointment like this for years without shedding any tears. He wipes his eyes on his coat aggressively and prays Gaz doesn’t pick this moment to return her usual spot on the couch.
He hears footsteps approaching the living room because of course he does, but they aren’t Gaz. The news crew follow Professor membrane into the living room. Trailing so close they don’t notice the young membrane slip into the lab to avoid them.
Without the extra people the lab is eerie. The only light coming from the suspension tank that holds Zim. It casts a green sheen on to the ominous tools and inventions cluttering the lab.
Zim's eyes are closed, his posture is almost relaxed, perhaps he was sleeping? But Irkins don't sleep...
Without thinking Dib steps closer to the tube, placing his hand on the smooth cold glass. He holds it there for a moment watching zim, so still and peaceful, as if he’s already dead.
Zims eyes fly open.
Large compound red spheres suddenly upon him standing out in stark contrast from the green skin of the alien as well as the murky teal liquid hes suspended in.
Dib nearly jumps out of his very mysterious trench coat in his surprise, but he doesn’t look away.
He doesn’t know exactly what he expected Zims expression to be. Maybe one of fear or hatred…betrayal. None of these emotions show in the Erkins large eyes. There is only one message Zims gaze pierces Dib with. A challenge.
'You're going to let that dirt monkey do this?'
Dib stares entranced by that challenging gaze. It holds years of fighting and malice and begrudging mutual respect.
These eyes have haunted Dibs nightmares and thrilled his waking days. It occurs to him the biggest problem he has with Zims capture, perhaps even the reason for his crying.
The thought of never seeing those eyes again.
That horrible gaze turns questioning, wondering why Dibs just standing there. Dibs stomach drops into his shoes at the thought of waking up every day and not thinking about what Zim is doing, how Zim will challenge him, how he can stop Zim. He thinks of coming home every day and doing nothing, going to the taco place and not having to be prepare for casualties. He thinks of life without Zim in it. And its empty.
Dib doesn’t feel his feet move as he backs away from the tank. He doesn’t feel his hand rap around the heavy rubber drumstick sitting conveniently on one of the work tables. Hes watching Zims eyes, his face. It shifts from confusion to fear as Dib swings the drumstick at the cylinder.
He doesn’t hear it when it shatters.
His senses are dulled as he watches Zim collapse to the floor. People stir outside the lab. One second, two seconds go by and Zim doesn’t get up. Dib barely registers the footsteps coming toward the lab. Four seconds and Zim slowly rises to his feet. He tugs weakly at the cords in his arms, unable to break free. Dib just watches the small green creature struggle, unable to decide what to do.
“Oh its just my son, poor insane child—”
His fathers voice brings Dib crashing back to reality. He broke Zim out of the suspension tube. Hes standing in his dads office with a rubber drumstick in his hand and live cameras on him.
His dad starts walking to where Zim is still struggling with the cords. Dib pushes past him ignoring his insulting comments. He pulls the cords out of Zim a little too roughly and grabs him by the hand.
“when I say, we run” his voice doesn’t shake or crack. Uncertainty often plagues his decisions but not now. This isn’t a decision, there are no other choices. Zim is dazed but offers no argument.
“Now”
Dib rushes the reporters hoping bitterly that his stunt makes the news if only to embarrass his father. Zim drags behind on shaky legs but Dib doesn’t slow down. They had to get out of there. He nearly knocks Gaz over in the kitchen on his way out the door.
“Dib!” she growls. He doesn’t have time to explain so he shoots back
“imfinallytakingcontrolofmylifegottagocallyoulaterbyeeee!!”
He nearly takes the door off its hinges as he bursts into the evening air. He looks behind briefly to check on Zim.
Zim is deathly pale and has his free arm rapped tightly around his midsection, but his eyes are fire as he glares ahead determined to keep up with Dibs sprint.
Dib doesn’t know where they're running but he knows its not that god damn house.
His lungs burn but he doesn't stop. His heart is pounding and his mind is buzzing with adrenaline. They’ll go to Zims base, he decides.
Dib let Zim stay over, the least he can do is return the favor.

The first thing she noticed when her brain woke up was how cold her body was. The warm sunlight kissed her cheeks gently, seeping under her lashes and making her eyelids flutter open to a blinding white room. Observing her surroundings, she noticed she wasn't alone. A men was sitting next to her bed, a long forgotten book in his hands and low snores coming out of his parted lips. Her entire upper body ache when she tried to sit against the headboard silently. She stayed quiet, watching dust motes travel across the room in the early morning haze. It was a chilly one, for sure. Her last memories started to appear in quick flashes trough her head. She was sleeping peacefully when the first explosion startled everyone in the building, flames already taking over almost everything in the first round. And then a second and a third, and everything was chaos and smoke and her only wish was to crumble down with the building because, fuck, it was happening all over again. The the fourth explosion came, those strong arms that were holding her tight vanished in a split second and everything she knew was the hard ground and the iron taste on her tongue.
"Good morning, sunshine", the man greets, throwing her off of her reveries. He stretched his arms up in the air, joints cracking all the way.
"Why am I here?" She asked under a troubled look. Her eyes darted to the window. From that level, all she could bring up was the Statue of Tony Stark resting above the fountain, his hand aiming at something beyond the horizon. She was in the Stark Tower.
"You know why", Sam answered. "Pandora, am I right? Like in the files?"
The girl nodded once, her slender fingers tugging to the thin fabrid that covered her legs. The moment he called her by her codename, she knew she was doomed and he was already aware of everything she was and everything that was done to her. She wondered he knew a lot more than necessary when he swinged her personal diary in his hand before throwing at her side on the bed.
"I want you to see someone... Do you think you can walk?"
Pandora nods once more and start dragging her feet off the bed's edge, startling herself by the purple marks all along her skin. It wasn't a pretty view. The first steps were difficult, like the ones of a newborn doe, she would have fallen instantly without  Sam's support on her waist. Side by side, they moved slowly towards the room next door.
Once Sam pushed the door open, her entire body tensed as if the blood in her veins had turned into ice. With her knees shaking, she stammered unconsciously:
"Zim... Zimniy s-soldat..." [Winter Soldier].
In his bed, Bucky's head moved to the side and his eyelids fluttered seconds before open slowly. His movements were lethargic by the sedatives.
"Gotov soblyudat..." [Ready to comply]. He flashes a weak smile, his voice nothing more but a growl and he focuse his blue irises on the terrified girl. "Nobody have called me that in a long time".
"Yeah. I call him asshole", Sam scoffed.
Pandora, still petrified, let a diminish laugh scape before forgetting the excruciating pain that was rushing furiously trough her body and let herself collapse against the cold floor. Images of a long lost life before her freedom takes place, filling her mind and projecting painful memories that went straight trough her heart like daggers.‎ Fear hit her hard and suddenly she is out of breath and the floor underneath her seems to disappear. Choking and trying to collect herself hysterically from the ground, she end up falling back onto Sam's grip. He hugged her tight and hid her face against his chest without hesitation, hiding her. Pandora's entire body trembled to the point of chattering teeth, her knuckles already white from tugging his shirt between her fingers.
"It's okay, darling. Nobody's gonna hurt you", Sam assured, whispering with lips touching her hair. "I promise. You can trust me, can't you? I'm here with you, nothing's gonna hurt you".
Sam had seen many post-traumatic stress atacks, more so panic ones. He knew how to deal with it. With her. She was scared and feeling unsafe and probably triggered by whatever Bucky said to her in russian, kidding or not. The first thing he did was lift them both from the ground and place her small crooked figure onto the spare bad next to the wall and covered her with the biggest blanket he could find at the moment. He watched as she started to roll herself up in a messy coccon mode.
"Don't worry, Panda. I'm gonna be here with you. Just breath, darling", Sam is now stroking long caresses across the girl's back. Bucky who had been silent trough the whole situation looked at her fondly, but there was still a hint of pain or guilt in his baby blue eyes. He knew he caused her that crisis. It was his fault. He desired to erase himself from her mind for a moment.
Almost an hour passed until Pandora was stable again. Her muscles were slowly untwining and letting her breathe properly, full deep inhales and long exhales to soothe her aching throat. Sam smiled when she looked at him with teary, but thankful eyes, but he kept his hand in motion caressing her for a while, observing how relaxed she was once she saw that were no danger. Not in him nor in the room or in Bucky's presence. She was now laying with face half buried in the sheets. looking dead into Bucky's figure like she was studying him.
"Feeling better?" Sam finally asks, taking a step back from the bed. Pandora nods and looks at him. "I need to report to Fury and get you both some food. Think you can manage to be alone here with him for a moment?"
"I guess... Yeah."
"I'll be back in a second then. Distract her, Barnes, will ya'?"
Bucky waved at him and whitin a second Sam was out of their sight. The air tensed a bit with the sudden silence, she wasn't much of a talker, neither was him, but they kept the eye contact before Bucky broke the connection to take a look outside the window.
"What happened to you?" Pandora's voice startles him, making him let out a chuckle begore putting his attention back on her. She was more mature, it was visible, there were some new scars, but still the same soft, childish features. Her question was short but complicated. He sighed.
"A lot, after Hydra. They wanted me to murder Steve, but I just couldn't finish. He broke the brainwash and after that I started to remember. When everything crumbled down, I found a place to stay in Bucharest", He lost himself in his thoughts for a moment, looking at his metal fingers. "I started a routine, everything was about remember who I was and be invisible. Then, the enemies came... Zemo, he caused a lot of problems... Thanos and the war. I turned to dust when he snapped his fingers, but Steve and the others brought us back. We fought, we won. I'm very thankful for their help. Shuri, who erased Hydra's poison from my head. I wouldn't be nothing without them, probably dead by now".
"So did you nightmares stopped?"
Bucky remembered his times under Hydra control once again, a specific moment, when he was in a cage. The girl next to him helped him sleep trough his nightmares that day. Pandora helped him even tho she was just as scared.
"Those never go away. They're always there, lurking inside my head", He laughed. "The nightmares never were about the brainwash, but about what I did when I was their puppet".
Pandora's eyes went to the ground. She understood him, her own nightmares almost drove her crazy most nights. She abused sleep pills and alcohol, but not even that made them go away. They would be always there. Her heart sinked into her chest for a second and then she heart his voice calling again.
"What about you?" He now had turned his body a bit to the side, for her to look at his front. The sheet went down a bit, showing his marked skin, so many scars in a tiny piece of him. A cold chill went down her spine.
"I was always running. Everytime something would get out of control, I just ran away to another city, then another state, and another country until I end up in that apartament".
"Get out of control...?" He lifted his eyebrow and she licked her lips.
"The things like those explosions and the fire?" She let out a faint laugh. "I'm used to that happening all time. I bring disgrace to everyone around me and that's why you should let me get out of here as soon as possible. I wouldn't want to ruin your lives."
"You mean you started the fire? You caused the explosions?" He asked.
"No. God, no. I... I didn't do anything is just... It happens around me, like I'm cursed or have this terribly bad luck", she shook her head. "I would never hurt anyone".
Outside the room, Sam and Fury listened carefully to their conversation. They new eachother from another times and leaving them alone was the best idea Sam had to show his boss that the girls wasn't a threat. Fury continued to listen while reading the girl's diary carefully while Sam got out to get the food he promised. When he got back, his boss was watching both of Hydra's best agents talking about their periods of peace and chaos with his hands befind his back.
"You hungry?" Sam asked munching on a big piece of his own cheeseburguer before handing one in the other man's direction.
Fury refused with a hand gesture and handed over her diary. He need to know nothing more, that was more than necessary.
"We're keeping her".
"Excuse me?"
"Project 001: Pandora", Fury repeated slowly, with a mischievous smirk in his face. "We're keeping her."
