tips for writing muslim characters
except im a muslim, born and raised
dont mix it up with arab characters, yes a muslim can be arab and muslim but theres a difference. the link to my post abt writing arabs is here
first and foremost, not all muslims are arabs, and not all arabs are muslims. yes, most terminology and the holy book is in arabic, but that doesnt mean its exclusively arabs
indonesia (not an arab country) has the highest population of muslims worldwide
the arab country with the most christians is egypt, but the arab country with the highest population of christians is lebanon
not all practicing muslim women wear hijab (some extremely religious women might not wear a hijab)
five prayers a day: fajr (before sunrise), zuhr (midday), asr (afternoon), maghreb/maghrib (sunset), ishaa (nighttime)
call to prayer is known as 'azan', you can listen to it on youtube
muslims use the lunar calendar (known as the hijri calendar), which also has 12 months but its around two weeks shorter than the gregorian calendar. most people only remember the ninth month: ramadan
fasting consists of not eating/drinking from fajr until maghrib. you stop as soon as the azan for fajr sounds, and you can start again as soon as the azan for maghrib sounds. you fast for the entire month of ramadan, but its also encouraged to fast on mondays, thursdays, and the 14th/15th/16th days of each month of the hijri calendar
allah isnt the name of god. allah is the arabic word for 'god'
women dont have to cover up completely until puberty, athough some girls cover up before then and other women dont cover up at all
women can be religious and not cover up
the word 'hijab' doesnt show up in the quran, its 'khimar'. hijab is to cover up completely, not just hair. you cant wear a headscarf with a short sleeved shirt
men have to cover up too. from their navel to their knees absolutely has to be covered up, and (in most islamic cultures, not necessarily exactly religious) they cover up their chests as well
also men are told to avert their gazes from women more than women are told to cover up. youd find a lot of men in muslim countries not looking up from the floor when walking, especially in areas w a lot of women
kids by the age of eight can usually recite at least four chapters from the quran (the first one and the last three, mostly. it doesnt matter if theyre not arab)
if you want to use verses from the quran for whatever reason, i recommend quran.com
theres only one version of the quran. the same copy thats existed for 1400 years and millions of people have memorized it
on that note, people who memorize the quran are called hafiz, and there isnt a particular age. theres a three year old hafiz and a woman who didnt memorize it until age eighty three
there are two different sources for islamic law: the quran (holy book), and hadith (quotes of the prophet). dua' is completely different, its a prayer used to ask help from god, but unlike the five prayers, it doesnt really require a specific ritual. you just sit, face the direction of mecca, and say the dua'
superstitions are haram, but muslims do believe in black magic (its sihr in arabic and its one of the biggest sins) and djinn (there are djinn muslims but theyre widely regarded somewhat like monsters who encourage/help you to do black magic)
allahu akbar means "god is greater" or "god is the greatest". it isnt used as a signal to blow people up, and it isnt a term used purely by islam extremists
assalamu aleikum / waaleikum assalam mean, respectively, "peace be upon you" and "and peace be upon you too" basically just our way of just saying "hi" along with the reply
subhanallah means "glory be to god" usually when witnessing a miracle or when amazed
mashaallah - there arent any exact english equivalents but it means "what god wills". usually for compliments or to protect someone from evil eye
insha'allah - simply "god willing" but we use this when talking about the future (like "will you come to school?" "insha'allah" or "we'll get the gift, right?" "insha'allah"). can be replaced by the lesser used "bi'ithn illah"
alhamdu lillah - "praise be to god" or "thanks be to god. used in the way you might imagine, but also as a way to express that youre doing fine. "how are you doing today, sister?" "alhamdu lillah" (also when finishing a meal / finishing drinking water)
astaghfir ullah - "i seek forgiveness from god" whenever we see someone do something haram or when we ourselves do something haram and wish to repent
bismillah - "in the name of god" we use this whenever we begin something. a lot of arab literature starts with this. every chapter im the quran starts with this. every meal starts with saying this before eating
you can submit asks if you have any questions, but try to be a lil specific !!
feel free to rb with more info :)

So I found this on bird app :
"i only like ge/go when it’s doomed and they have no longterm future
same with go/ge. they’re about the same to me but i think gojo bottomed more and was a total pillow princess about it in their teens. as adults they probably switched equally. i can see gojo developing his experience more with topping as an adult
either way they’re better as exes. gojo deserves more from a partner than someone who would leave him to start a cult "
Can I ask your thoughts, please?
Hello, hello. Considering, canonically, they are very doomed, I suppose OP found a solid pairing? I'm starting to understand the idea of doomed toxic yaoi a lot more because who says that with their whole chest? I don't feel like I'm on my A game today but let's see if I can adequately convey my thoughts.
Tumblr media
I think it's kinda funny, the sentiment that "Gojo deserves more from a partner than someone who would leave him to start a cult,". As if Gojo didn't play some part in his motivation for defection, as if to say this defection, too, did not reek of affection. Don't get me wrong, Geto's hard right was also a great deal of ego. But, foundationally, his departure was sparked by an inability to stand shoulder to shoulder with Gojo, power wise.
Toji got the drop on Gojo which sent Geto on the offensive. After being reassured he was fine, Gojo encouraged him to press forward with the mission. Just short of extending protection to their charge to follow her own wishes, Toji violently extinguishes the life of Riko Amanai before his eyes. An opportunity that was only made possible by besting Gojo, killing him even. Geto loses his composure with this realization and is summarily and disrespectfully embarrassed and defeated. Left alive with the knowledge that he wasn't deemed enough of a threat to kill. This is on the tail end of all of Gojo's reassurances that he was fine, that they could even take on Tengen because he had Geto to rely on. But this series of events, this cocoon of hubris, challenges Geto's ability to protect anyone at all. From this he determines the best way to circumvent premature losses like Gojo, Riko and Haibara are simply to eradicate the population they're forced to put themselves on the line for.
Armies were roused to reclaim Helen of Troy and return her divine beauty back to Sparta, causing the Trojan War. Six people died, including the eponymous lovers Romeo and Juliet, due to a series of compounding events for a romance that lasted 3 days. Orpheus braved the Underworld at the chance to retrieve Eurydice. Geto betrayed himself and everything he'd stood for previously for a chance to create a world where Gojo wouldn't have to sacrifice himself for the greater good. He walked away from Gojo knowing the path he walked was twisted and, in his mind, did so irrevocably even though I know Gojo would have followed him if asked. So why didn't he ask?
The man who had been the moral compass for The Strongest Sorcerer did not abuse that influence. Even knowing he was doomed to fail in his endeavor. Even recognizing that with Gojo's power, it'd be possible. But he never asked, never chose to lead him astray. So, yes, they're tragic but does the copium not encourage us to seek out AU's where they are free of the burden of their fates and are just happy?
RE: everything else, maybe I'm an anomaly but I don't really care about people or characters' positions in relationships so I don't know that I'm someone you want chiming in on that. Like, I get people assume that positions present different archetypes that they choose to align characters with but... that pragmatism ignores a lot of nuance. I also inherently know that people use different names for ships based on this but I don't nor do I see them as having different relationship dynamics, per se, in referring to them as gego vs goge. I just look at their canonical dynamic and tend to use the more popular ship name.
Even if I agree that I could see Gojo as a pillow princess, it's less to do with the "physicality" of it and more to do with his personality. He is princess just as much as Geto is babygirl and the girls who get it, get it.

What if Danny was never drawn to his own haunt cause he had a One True King kind of situation
-
The Keep, the Haunt of the Ghost King has never completely matched the needs and wishes of any of the Ghost Kings.
It has always been too small, too big, too filled with rooms that they never needed the use of, too bright, too dark, too childish, too comfortable, too humble, too welcoming, too filled with little glowing stars for some unknown reason??
While the presence of each new Ghost King did change the place slightly, no matter how long their reign, the place never truly became theirs, the fundamental base of the Keep never changed, never bent to the one using it.
(It was however still used by them, as it was a symbol of their power.)
The more easy-going Kings theorised that it was simply because they had another haunt that had actually formed with them, while the Keep had been through many hands and thus could not be anyone's solely, but was rather the Infinite Realms'.
To truly change the Keep, they theorised, was to irreversibly change the Infinite Realms itself.
On the other hand, the more controlling Kings that passed through the Crown and Ring sought to warp the Keep to their control by force, but all ultimately failed.
There was one among them, however, that managed to warp the Keep the most, whether it was through the awesome and fearful power he wielded against even his own subjects, the amount of change he brought upon the Infinite Realms buy forcing it to adapt to being without a someone specific to do the duties of the Ghost King, or simply the comparitively long rule compared to other Ghost Kings that had been obsessed with some form of control.
Ultimately, however, no one could truly change, control and make the Keep their own.
Why?
Well, simply put, it was because it was not their Haunt.
The Keep was formed at the same time the Infinite Realms itself was formed (before even the first Ghost King was an idea), formed to house the one and only being who would serve and protect It and It's people, protect It's relations with the other Realms it was connected to and simply keep the balance between It and Them, between Life and Death.
It becoming the Keep was something caused by the population of the Infinite Realms, believing their strongest and wisest the one foretold to them in the words they had been formed knowing:
Do Seek our Savior when, The Trials Three are Done, First that of Acceptance, Second that of Conquering, Last that of Self, and then, We Crown our King, the One, the True, And celebrate as all is balanced once more
Well whether they were supported by the population or were egotistical mad men, none of them were that which they believed them to be.
Until Danny.
-
Did you know, did you know?
On the day of his rebirth, the Infinite Realms sung in the Cores of all it's people.
Did you hear, did you hear?
He protects all who need it, even those who were once his enemies, those that are different, those that aren't his people.
He is Kind and Accepting.
Did you know, did you know?
He brought down Pariah Dark, the Tyrant King, one only the Ancients working together could capture.
(But didn't he have help? Wasn't he aided? Two hands closed that coffin)
He fought him alone, without help from any other, with a device that amplifies one's power, like the age he doesn't have.
(He's so young.
Did you hear? Oh did you hear?
The King's a Child.
He's so young, so young, so young.
Did you know? Oh please, did you know?
I know you didn't.)
He is Powerful and Conquers all who pose a threat.
Did you hear? Did you hear?
They say he fought himself, a stronger and greater version that destroyed his world.
A Tyrant King that killed every being.
A true ghost, with power rivaling an Ancient.
The ghost halves of two Halfa.
(Aren't the ghost halves of Halfas more powerful?
Yes, they are.)
One who caused such fear that the Realms rejected him, that the Observants sought to end him before he was born.
(They wanted to kill the King, Our King.
How dare they. How dare they.
He's Ours!)
Did you know? Did you know?
He Won.
The King, (Our King) Won.
He has Defeated the worst aspects of his Self.
Long Reign The King.
(He has completed the trials.)
Long Reign The King.
(He is Just and Kind.)
Long Reign The King, The One True King, Always and Forevermore.
(He is the King, Our King.)
-
When Danny stepped into the Keep for the first time after his coronation, he knew it as his own.
He knew the place, every corridor, every room, like it was a part of him he had always had but never used. (It was though wasn't it? A part of him?)
Unlike every other King before him, the Keep was perfect for him.
Every unwanted aspect left behind by the previous tenants (cause that's what they were, weren't they? Tenants.) had been either removed or shuffled into one of the many storerooms created precisely for that at the moment he had been officially crowned.
(And what a crowning it was, for the moment the Crown and Ring had been put on, something in all the ghosts settled, like a missing puzzle piece, a yearning fed, a prophecy ingrained in them fulfilled.)
The Keep felt to him like home he had lived in every day of his life and yet never been in, a part of himself he was rediscovering after a long time without.
As Danny wandered through His Keep, he knew what lay behind every door, what every room was for, the location of everything in the Keep, like a nostalgic walk through a childhood home that he had not visited in a few years, but yet had not changed.
It felt like coming Home.

We've seen that Origin has 3 heads resembling the 3 Alliance factions. Does Origin take the form of whatever is currently Earth's 'dominant' species? In other words, did it used to have human heads? (Or would it be spoilers to answer either way?)
Yes. Precisely that.
Origin DID have more human-like heads before they were morphed over to a different form.
When the humans were killed off/transformed into skibidis in masse, the alliance faction began to outnumber them more and more.
Which caused the world "dominance" to shift over towards the robots and pushing humanity into a minority, if any managed to survive the war at all. As a result, the mimics all changed as well, since they were made to copy humans; whom were the dominant species at the time.
However, the alliance doesn't behave like humans and can't provide a 'guidance' for the mimics to follow. Which caused chaos in the mimic populations once the human-mimic balance was shattered. Leading to multiple mimics worldwide to change forms, start clans, and regress to more "wild" versions of themselves. Since the alliance can't fulfill the same role that humanity did when they were dominant. This shift in the world dominance awakened Origin, who came to realize that their form had changed and some shit was going down on the surface. However, they also come to realize that their resting location was discovered and multiple countries had secretly banded together to build a large high-tech "vault" around Origin that took many years to complete, perfect, and seal. Trapping them inside and limiting their abilities and range to the outside world. Not only that, but when the skibidi apocalypse went into full swing and humanity was being killed off faster and faster, some survivors decided to put a fail-safe lock on the "vault" by using their own blood as a locking catalyst. That means that even if the skibidis or alliance discovered the vault, they wouldn't be able to open it, since neither party has pure human blood to open the tightly sealed locks. Which is why Origin needs a living human to set them free. If the last known human dies, Origin would be stuck in that "vault" for all time and would be helpless to save their people from becoming extinct. Which is why Origin is trying very hard to contact the only known human that is currently alive and convince them to save the mimics and to free them from their prison deep below the surface.
And the moment that Origin breaks free...
The ones that upset the balance of the world will pay a price far greater than death.

Hi I am Jordanian and wanted to say thanks for sharing news of backlash the Jewish community has faced for the actions of Israeli government/IDF. It is not fair that you guys are getting that punishment especially when it was never a Muslim vs Jew issue, rather a conflict of supremacy and control and money. I don’t know if you support the Palestinian cause but I will try to support my Jewish brethren when they are in need. TY
First I'd like to say, antisemitism existed long before Israel.
The events of October the 7th has gotten me thinking about the Kishinev pogrom of 1903, if you're not Jewish it's likely you've never heard of it. Pogrom is a Russian word, for mob violence against Jews, they did it so much in Russia they needed to come up with a special word for it, before the Nazis, Russians were the nightmare of the Jews, and those 19th century Jews could not have imagined worse was waiting for them from the West. Any ways today Kishinev is called Chișinău, its the capital of the tiny country of Moldova, but in 1903 it was the edge of the Russian Empire. Starting on Easter Sunday and lasting for 3 days while Russian police and soldiers looked on mobs hunted the local Jews like animals, beat and killed any man they found, raped as many women as they could.
I've been thinking about Kishinev, because it represents a break, you want to know when Zionism got really serious? it was with the blood in the streets of Kishinev, the idea that life in Russia was no longer viable for the Jews that lived there and they had to leave and go any where, its also the point American Jewry really got organized.
I'm also reminded of the Farhud, in Iraq in 1941, before Israel about 1/3rd of the population of Baghdad was Jewish. In June 1941 a violent riot against the Jews broke out. We'll never know how many people died, maybe more than a 1,000. The violence was unspeakable, and like Kishinev for the Jews of the Middle East it was the break point, they could no long safely live in the countries they had lived in for over 2,000 years.
any ways, my point is I think antisemitism is maybe the world's oldest hate and people are using Israel as an excuse to unleash it, they've used other excuses in the past, may use other excuses in the future.
I would agree it's not a Muslim Vs Jewish thing, much of the violence and threats are happening in non-Muslim countries and coming from non-Muslims indeed atheists. Hate of the Jews is not religious (well sometimes it is, I got called a Christ Killer just yesterday) but an ethnic hate.
"a conflict of supremacy and control and money" ah yes, Jews, Money etc I don't think I need to explain this to most people. Just leave it to say your "support" is kind if misguided, if you believe any group of Jews are money grubbing trying to control the world or have ever said the phrase "Jewish supremacy" well all thats pretty antisemitic
As for the Palestinians, I wish them what I've always wished them, good health, for the Palestinians of Israel I want greater integration and their fair share of the resources of their country, for the Palestinians of Gaza I want them free of a terrorist organization that robs them, beats them, suppresses them, and for the West Bank and Gaza a state of their very own.

do the species of altuyulur have a form of currency? sorry if this was asked before ^^
Don't be sorry, and yes and no, while it does exist its not the most common thing/widespread.
maanuls, as well as sedentary kyhuines colonies, are structured to be self-sufficient when it comes to basic needs (food for example) and will distribute it evenly to everyone. If they want something from another colony that they don't produce themselves, they will barter. within the same colony, it's common to see people barter things.
But if they don't have something good enough to barter with someone else they will use primitive money equivalent, that system isn't widespread it's more common in large sedentary colonies and ones that neighbor it.
But some nomadic kyhuine populations might also use that currency, they sell their crafts/goods in exchange for the currency and then move to another village to buy a specific thing, for let's say some semolina equivalent for example, something they cannot produce by themselves from being nomadic. while they use the currency, if they can just barter they will barter. It's not uncommon for nomadic groups to move from one village to another for various reasons, they're welcome to come. Friendships form in those times despite cultural differences, so when the group leaves but eventually comes back it's just them getting to see their friend again. but the relationship between sedentary and nomadic groups is a whole other subject.
Now what does that currency look like? it is not made of ore because to them it would just be a waste of it, maanuls will use shells! the shell they commonly use are Cowrie shells although some northern colonies (if they have currency) might use different ones (hermit crab shell to name a few), and eastern ones might use colored clam shells. Kyhuines on the other hand might use teeth, in some places they will use fledgling teeth which is very odd to us. Fledglings are known to test their teeth on everything and anything and often lose them a lot (don't worry they grow back). they might use shells of fruits that are pierced so they can be stacked on a rope so its easier to count after.
(fledglings, is the state after being born as naked hatchlings. Both species kids will grow yellow coat with black/brown stripes, good examples to look at are baby emus and baby greater sage grouses. they will all have brown eyes at that state. here's a silly doodle to help you visualize. Left a kyhuine, right two maanuls)
Tumblr media
yes baby fledgling maanuls will even grow a coat on their later-on featherless parts, talons are brown at this state btw I just didn't color it here
thank you for reading and being interested in my stuff!

Hubris Bracket Side A Poll 15: Tendou Souju/Kamen Rider Kabuto (Kamen Rider Kabuto 2006) vs Wei Wuxian (Mo Dao Zu Shi/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda below (may contain spoilers)
Tendou Souji/Kamen Rider Kabuto
Tumblr media
Ok, so Tendou’s name literally translates to “Man who walks heaven’s path”. He believes himself to be the Greatest Man Alive, often quoting some insane shit his Grandmother told him. “Believe yourself to be the center of the universe. It’s more fun that way.” “He who walks the path of heaven shall rule over all.” “My evolution is faster than the speed of light. Nothing can keep up with it.” (YES, his grandmother said this shit. It’s unreal.) Tendou is rather aloof and rarely ever says what he means. While he doesn’t straight up say “I am a god among men.” He will frequently compare himself to the sun, something humanity cant exist without. Something so powerful it can never be reached, and can never be defeated. Did I mention he’s REALLY into cooking? In his debut appearance, he DOESNT dodge a robber’s knife because, “If I had dodged, I would have broken my tofu. And besides, that puny knife couldn’t have hurt me. I’m the master of my own fate.”
(long propaganda not in bullet format for clarity)
His name can be translated as "Path of Heaven, Ruler of All" and he uses this in his catchphrase: "Walking the path of heaven, the man who will rule over everything." His first scene involves him walking through a mugging, completely ignoring someone swiping a knife at him because "No knife can harm me, and if I dodged carelessly it would ruin my tofu".
Other choice quotes: "Grandmother said this: Make the world revolve around you. It's more fun that way." "In the past, present, future, all ages there is always a single person more perfect than others. A man like me. Do you think I can befriend a commoner like you?" "Greater than all the world's population of six billion people. I'm number one."
Bonus quotes from non-canon promotional materials: "If the Precious are a worldwide treasure, then I'm the universe's treasure." "(Sees a guy called Stronger) If he's Stronger I'm the Strongest."
But there's three things that make him specifically peak among hubristic characters.
1) As arrogant as he is he's constantly talking up other people when appropriate. He can't go a full episode without quoting his grandmother. He's declared before that the only reason humanity exists is to service the whims of his little sister. When someone changes their cooking style to be more like Tendou's, even though the food comes out better, Tendou chides them for abandoning their individuality. There's one specific old man he hypes up with the quote "If I am the world's treasure, this man is the treasure of humanity".
2) His response to a restaurant he wanted to go to being closed is "Has heaven abandoned me?". One time someone responds to an "Inspirational" speech with him over the phone by hanging up on him and he's too confused to do anything about it. One time a child said they don't like his food and he looks like he's about to cry.
3) The show buys into Tendou's hype. One time he disappeared for half an episode and returned in a leadership position of a paramilitary task force. He has also inexplicably turned up as a doctor and a priest officiating a wedding. One time it looked like he got hospitalized in a fight but when people rush to check on him he's so ok he's giving his doctor a check-up. One time when his allies were planning on drugging some food to knock out people guarding a kidnapped girl he chided them for messing with food and just made food so good the kidnappers were too distracted to guard their hostage.
One time he got in a contest with another character over who could pick up more girls in one hour and then does nothing for the full hour and when he meets up with the other party in the contest every single girl the other party picked up immediately runs to Tendou because "The girls know of me, just as there is no one who does not know the light of the sun." And then every girl present does his catchphrase.
He apparently dies in the lead-up to the finale but then turns up again with no explanation except "I am the world. As long as the world exists, so will I."
Wei Wuxian
Tumblr media
Donated his golden core (like... a heart but for spiritual energy, which is like a source for magic powers) to his brother, without telling his brother. Invented necromancy to cover for the loss of normal magic powers. Was very rude about it (to prevent people from realizing he lost the normal magic powers). Then saved some people who were Really hated by the rest of the world. As a result: semi-accidentally killed his brother-in-law. Indirectly caused his sister's death. Got torn apart by his own fierce corpses. Died, his name living on in infamy. (Then came back to solve crimes and get gay married but thats unrelated to the theme now is that)

im going to say this as gently as i can but it probably won't be very because i don't have the energy to elaborate as fully as i need to and this cannot continue to take up space in my head. this is coming from the perspective of someone living in the US partaking in the US (mental) healthcare system
the internet's fascination with (incorrect) self diagnosis (re: if you move your hips to the side when walking around a desk you're autistic!) paired with an aging traumatized population and skewed resource distribution has done a lot more damage to the greater mental health scene in the last four years than i think any of us want to admit
if you have been diagnosed with something between now and march 13, 2020 - ESPECIALLY if it was before march of 2022 - you need to get reevaluated from scratch in person (if you are able to) by someone that will develop an actual relationship with you. not by a telehealth ghost psychiatric service and joint pharmacy that will throw adderall or zoloft at you for $15 a month (!!!)
trauma acts like 90% of the mental health issues 15-35 year olds are posting about. PTSD presents with nearly every symptom known to man. treating it improperly will kill you. i'm really really tired of listening to people on tiktok give mental health advice that's being parroted by actual LCSWs and LMHCs/CCMHCs and PMNHPs when it's just... flat out incorrect at best and actually life threatening and dangerous at worst.
is there a very real issue with supply and demand of controlled substances in this country? yes. is there a very real issue with accessibility of therapeutic and diagnostic appointment setting for disabled clients? yes. the answer to both of these is not creating ghost pharmacies and practices that do not follow up with patients and commonly commit patient abandonment. it is much more involved than that and it cannot be solved through services like hims and hers and donefirst and helloklarity and fucking onlinepsychiatrists dot com are you serious
i understand that the mental health space in this country is difficult and dangerous and hostile to navigate. especially in a small town it is inhospitable for marginalized people. you are preaching to the choir when you're saying that to someone like me. but i'm just very frustrated when people immediately turn to "just get your drugs online, obviously your problem is X"
there is no obviously in mental health. there is NEVER an obviously in mental health. i hallucinate. i hear voices. i see things. i have manic and psychotic episodes. i experience intense waves of suicidal ideation and depression. i dissociate, often. i have impulse spending issues. i have problems with obsessive thoughts and compulsive movements. i have severe offset sleep issues. i have anger issues. i have attention issues. i have some pretty insane intrusive thoughts. do you want to know my current diagnosis?
ptsd (and technically adult gender dysphoria, but.)
i have had a laundry list of others come and go. bipolar 2, MDD, GAD, schizoaffective disorder, insomnia, BPD, OCD, ADHD, autism, intermittent psychosis - just to name a few.
four psychiatrists and 12 years to get to the root of the problem. 60+ years of experience could not give me a straight answer. i really don't want to be that asshole but i don't think some googling and perusing social media and one (1) visit with someone that's not intimately aware of you and your history is going to make safe and calculated decisions wrt your health.
establishing a relationship with one person (after doing some shopping!! look around!! get a sense of the vibes!!) is so so so necessary.
as always - this does not apply to the people it... does not apply to. if you cannot afford appointments, don't have insurance, etc. this is primarily targeting the people that have simply decided that using these services is more convenient than calling someone - even though it is available to, and within reach for, them.
we cannot improve a fundamentally broken system by continuing to break it. it frustrates me that that's what we're doing. making and buying teslas won't save the planet, seeing a therapist from betterhelp will not fix your childhood trauma.

Adderall, and the Gospel of Dose and Dose Rate.
So, I have seen a lot of posts in my life about how Adderall is KINDA like meth, but it has X, Y, Z, key differences that make it act chemically different so it's safe. And I hate these posts because it is safe, and I took (prescribed) Adderall something like eight years, but the difference between Adderall and meth isn't some structural thing, or a chemical thing, it's two big things, and a little thing. "The Big Things" are Dose and Dose Rate. "The Little Thing" is just addiction risk for a given population.
So, lets just kill The Little Thing while we're here. Yes, people with ADHD are more likely to experience an addiction in their life - something like 30% more likely. This risk makes people nervous about giving people with ADHD possibly addictive substances. However, there should be a strong exception made for ADHD medications because people with ADHD who are on medication become something like 30% less likely to develop addictions. There are two key points in this. First, people with ADHD are way less likely to get addicted to amphetamines than the general population. The reason for this is obvious: They affect us very differently. If there was a drug that made you feel really compelled clean dishes, vacuum, and study, you might take it every once in a while, but you wouldn't want to take it every day. And while most people experience amphetamines as The Drug That Makes You Confident And Energetic And Horny, we experience it as The Drug That Makes You Do Chores, so it's not very alluring to us. Hence, they aren't at risk of addiction from that specific drug. Second, when people with ADHD are on their medications, they are markedly less impulsive than the standard population. Hence, their flat addiction risk decreases. "The Big Things", the real meat and potatoes of what sets prescription Adderall apart from meth, are the dose and the dose rate. Regarding dose, a normal prescription for Adderall is around 15-25 mg a day. A normal amount of consumption for a recreational amphetamine user is 300-800 mg a day. I cannot overemphasize just how obvious this makes the difference to me. One dose of OxyContin after a wisdom tooth extraction would make the pain a lot more bearable. Twenty all at once would probably be lethal. One dose of Ibuprofen will make your headache better. Twenty will cause some kind of permanent organ damage. One shot is enough to party, but twenty has a greater than fifty percent chance of killing you. A Civil War surgeon would not give you twenty shots before trying to saw your leg off, because at that point the drink would be more likely to kill you than the surgery.
And then there is the dose rate. Adderall is designed to hits its peak dose in 1-2 hours after first swallowing. It's split into 4 different types of amphetamine salts specifically to break the peak up into four small ones. Meth, when inhaled, has one peak that occurs about five minutes in. So you're looking about getting 12-36 times the dose, absorbed something like 48-192 times as quickly. That's it. That's the difference. There's nothing more that could be said about it than that. The chemical changes are only relevant in the sense that the affect how fast the chemical can be absorbed, and the doses just are what they are. Dose and dose rate. Everything else is just jargon.

Bare Your Teeth, Soldier: Chapter 2
Read on AO3
Hey the Suddenly Omegaverse AU is back! This chapter is about 7k words, and contains a lot of pointless nonsense (bickering).
This fic is rated Mature because, while the content does not enter explicit territory, there is a lot of discussion of reproduction, genitalia, and so on (in this chapter, it is in Anakin's 'class notes').
Please read the chapter warnings before you proceed, just to be fully informed of what you're getting into. IMO it shouldn't be a problem if you read the first chapter, but everyone's standards are different.
---------------------------------
Anakin leans over to whisper in Obi-Wan’s ear. “Why is there a sunken couch thing?”
Obi-Wan does not appreciate this. In fact, he swats at Anakin like a fly that is inconveniently harassing his head. He manages to land a limp smack to Anakin’s cheek. Anakin bats his hand away in turn.
Depa turns to stare at them with a fascinated, head-tilting smile. “Boys?”
Obi-Wan blushes, though it’s hard to see behind the beard. Anakin grins. Score!
“We were surprised by the depression in the corner of the living room,” Obi-Wan says. “I can’t think of any suites that have those in our own Temple.”
Depa makes a considering noise, expression going odd. “None?”
“Are they common here?” Anakin asks.
“Nearly all terrestrial rooms have them by default,” Depa confirms. “They’re nesting divots.”
They’re… what.
The confusion and shock must be more than obvious. Depa smiles wryly. “I see this is one of those things that must be part and parcel of the secondary dynamics that you don’t have in your own human lines.”
“Nesting?” Obi-Wan parrots. “I’m… no, we don’t.”
“It’s human-standard, so the default is for the divots to be present, but they can be covered with boards or converted to a different furnishing. Humans may have the highest population in the galaxy, and thus the greater fraction of the Jedi, but we’re not fool enough to assume that Kel Dor or Iktotchi will have any use for it. The quartermaster has relatively easy ways to modify it on hand.”
Anakin wanders over to peer over the edge. It’s not a sunken couch like he’d thought, but a square depression with regular holes along the edge, maybe twelve feet across each way. There is no additional rise at the rim, just a straight right angle from interior wall to floor, and he wonders how often a mouse droid falls in and can’t get out. “What’s usually done with it?”
“For nesting species, the modifiers adjust the sides to slope and curve the shape to be circular instead of square,” Depa explains. “For those who don’t, I believe it’s usually either covered up to expand the empty floorspace, and then used for storage, or is furnished with seating. The ‘sunken couch,’ as you said.”
So the squareness is for those who don’t nest. Anakin can feel how baffled Obi-Wan is at humans being the ones who need this.
“There are also smaller, circular nesting divots in all the bedrooms,” Depa adds, and Anakin feels himself twitch. “Those are usually covered up and used for storage of winter gear and the like, since they are sloped by default.”
“Covering would be good, yes,” Obi-Wan says. He keeps looking at the square that Anakin’s in right now. “Couch for that one, you think?”
“I was thinking I could add a desk and use it as a workshop,” Anakin admits. He puts a hand on the edge, trying to gauge the height and figure out if it’s a good level for his projects. “Easier to get under large projects instead levitating them onto a desk, less chance of it rolling off and damaging something if it’s level with most of the floor already.”
Obi-Wan makes a face and heads over to the bedrooms.
Depa just watches them both, radiating amusement.
“I think it’s big enough to keep droid repairs to the personal rooms,” Obi-Wan decides. “Take a look.”
The rooms are basically the same as the ones back in their own temple, save for the seven-foot ‘nesting divot,’ which is vaguely insane to Anakin’s mind. It makes the room feel smaller, to have to keep part of it set aside for… the nest.
He wonders what nesting consists of, to require floor adjustments like this as a standard thing. Probably a lot of pillows and blankets. Maybe the architecture is designed to preemptively keep mess isolated to the one area. Like… it’s a lot easier to keep pillows in the thing if it’s got walls that are lower than the floor, right?
Do people keep babies in these things? Maybe it’s to keep babies from climbing out? Not for Jedi, obviously, but like… way way way back in human history, that was why? And it stayed a thing?
But there’s also an entirely normal bed. Is nesting supposed to be separate from sleeping? Or is that just there for the assumption that they’ll prefer beds over nesting? Do all rooms come with both, and then get adjusted? Or is there a purpose to having both a bed and a nest?
“So, covering that up and adding a second desk for droidwork,” Anakin decides. “And I guess I’ll see the quartermaster about getting a tool cabinet.”
“Is that your primary role when not at war?” Depa asks.
He does not jump at her suddenly being right behind him. He doesn’t. He’s more aware than that. “Uh, no, just a hobby. I’m too useful at, you know. Stabbing things.”
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan says, sounding as aggrieved as ever. “You know very well that you are not only useful for stabbing things.”
“I dunno, Master. Stabbing is like… my main thing.”
Obi-Wan puts his face in his hands and visibly tries not to groan.
Anakin grins, and looks to Depa. “I broke him.”
“I can see that.”
--
(The Temple should be safe. Should feel safe. But without the troopers, and with almost nobody here actually knowing them, it just feels wrong.)
(Anakin shouldn’t find the weight of greaves and vambraces so helpful. Obi-Wan hates that he’s finding solace in the reminder that their pasts are real.)
(They don’t have anything else. Their only reminders are the clothes on their backs and their sabers. They do not have Qui-Gon’s river stone, or their cut braids, or their droids and troopers and friends.)
(But they have their armor. They have their symbols. They have something that tells them they are what they remember.)
(The Jedi here don’t know what to make of that.)

a beast or a bad dog - untitled vampire story
Chapter 2 (part 1/2)
read chapter 1 here! part 1 / part 2
Rosalyn, it turns out, is not a difficult creature to track down. A group of three burly, haggard men, who are surprisingly amiable after I lose nine hands of cards and more gold than I’d like to admit, tell me that her sire lives nearby in an abandoned building that used to be an artist’s studio or a library or an alchemist’s shop. They bicker for a while about the history of the building, losing interest in our game as I lose interest in them. Their story is inconsistent enough that I confirm the location with two other patrons.
“It definitely used to belong to one of those damned witches,” one tells me through a mouthful of meat that I choose not to identify. “Place always gave me the creeps. Cursed, I think. Makes sense for them to settle in there, the leeches.” His chewing slows as he gives me a long look. “Stay away from there. Pretty thing like you, they’d eat you alive.”
“They’d eat you, too.” He narrows his eyes. The blatant desire in them makes me steaming mad. “Leeches aren’t known for being picky.”
He guffaws, bits of half-chewed food spraying from his mouth. “Me neither.”
I almost reach for my dagger but stop myself. Nicolai says that humans are simple in that they match violence with violence. The only thing that keeps us from slaughtering each other is a flimsy social contract, an oath of cooperation against greater evils. If you’re going to raise a hand, be prepared to strike or swear.
If this man wasn’t human, I would’ve killed him as soon as I got the information I needed. Instead, I press my palms against the table. The chair makes a horrible screeching sound as it slides against the rotted wooden floor. He calls after me, but I can’t hear the words over the blood pounding in my ears.
I wouldn’t pick a fight I couldn’t win, but some aren’t worth winning.
By early evening, I’m perched on the rooftop overlooking the entrance of the Faucher lair. The air is brisk enough that I pull my cloak tighter around me, tugging the hood over my head. The streets below are empty except for the occasional person shuffling to finish their errands and get inside before the sun sets. I watch them until they are out of view. It’s a dangerous time to be human. Only the most desperate vampires hunt at dusk, risking the dimming light of the sun to avoid starvation. The nobles wait for the luxury of the moon, complete darkness to roam and feed. The truly powerful don’t even need to leave their houses; they send spawn to find the most appetizing meals and ferry them back.
The Faucher sire is not a noble. I recognize him immediately. The sires are always the easiest to spot: unhurried, cocky gait, lazy with power, an elegance unmatched by the spawn that they collect. He has his hands in the pockets of his tattered coat. His black hair is cut short to match the modern fashion that the older vampires detest. His eyes almost look brown until the light catches them and reveals their rust-red hue. There’s a frenzy in them that is instantly recognizable. The sun hasn’t fully disappeared behind the horizon, and yet here he is, wandering towards the more populated town center.
I drop behind him on near silent feet. He pauses mid-step, then turns to me slowly. His nostrils flare. “You’re not one of mine. Fine breeding, though. Quiet as a mouse.” I say nothing, drawing the onyx dagger but keeping it at my side. He claps once. “I know you. Yes, I do. You belong to that red-headed fellow.”
Belong. I try and fail to fight my scowl.
He grins, eyes darting between my face and the dagger. “Oh, I’ll be no trouble.” He starts to turn, then thinks better of putting his back to me. “You’re still here.”
If I killed him, his entire line would fall. No spawn could survive the death of their sire. I should kill him, given the way he’s looking at me like I’m nothing more than a pest, a merry inconvenience on his way to supper. Nicolai would call me lazy for even entertaining the idea. He doesn’t tolerate imprecision. “I’m looking for Rosalyn,” I say.
His laugh is harsh and sudden. “I do know you! A sad story.”
His eccentricity is grating my nerves. My impatience must’ve shown on my face because he adds, “Always bringing trouble, that one. Fine, fine. She’s inside. Second floor, first door. Doesn’t leave her room if she can help it.” He laughs again, quieter this time. “A mouse! I should have known. Oh, what a sad story.”
Satisfied that I’m not going to pierce his heart through his back, he turns away. I call after him, “You’d give her up that easily?”
He doesn’t turn back to look at me, resuming his walk towards whatever unfortunate person he’ll dine on tonight. “I’ll make more! More and more until the world is my child!” His voice turns melodic, almost singing, “Give the mouse some cheese, but I’m the one that gets fed.”
I watch his retreating figure until he disappears around a corner.
Rosalyn is exactly where her sire said she would be. She’s asleep when I slide through the cracked-open door. Her arms are stretched out and bent in an L-shape with her palms up, hands next to her head. Her golden curls fan out on her pillow, framing her heart-shaped face like a lion’s mane. Her breathing is deep and steady, lips slightly parted. She looks peaceful. Younger than I thought she’d be, not that her appearance says anything about her true age. I know better than to pity her. This, too, is a weapon.
Her eyes flutter open at the scrape of fabric as I draw my dagger. Her mouth opens in a startled, “Oh,” when she notices me standing over her. She raises herself onto her elbows. She can likely hear my heart pounding, fast as a rabbit’s.
We stare at each other for a long moment. I tighten my grip on the onyx dagger. It’s more subtle than its companion, better suited for hunting at night. She glances at the metal, then at my face. I wait for the fear to creep into her expression. It doesn’t come.
The fight doesn’t come, either.
“She’s come for you at last.” The words are airy as if she’s still asleep, still dreaming. A long exhale. She lowers herself back down. Her hands are wound into tight, trembling fists at her sides.
I was given no instruction to speak with her, no parting words to relay, but I find my lips moving. “Felix de Vondran. You know him?” The next name on my list.
She closes her eyes, speaking more to herself than to me. “They tried.”
I press the tip of my dagger against her sternum, feeling the ghost of Nicolai’s hands wrapped around mine.
I was ten when I killed my first vampire. Nicolai had chained him to a steel table in a room that I previously thought was a library or his office. The memory is faded like a photograph that had been handled too many times by too dirty hands, but remnants of it steal my breath as I stare down at Rosalyn. The sound of metal clanging against metal. The feral, animalistic rage in the man’s eyes. Nicolai’s hands guiding mine, so small, around the hilt of the dagger. The warmth of his calloused fingertips over mine. The ear-piercing shriek when the dagger touched the man’s chest, left bare so I could see where to aim. A little to the left. There you go, pet. Just like that. You’ll need to press down hard. A strangled sob flew from my mouth as the flesh gave. Nicolai’s muscles tensed as he drove the dagger home. A gurgle, and a gasp. Bile rose in my throat, but I swallowed it down. Swallowed and swallowed until the tears dried on my face. If Nicolai was disappointed in my reaction, he didn’t let on.
But I’m no longer ten years old, and I have no tears for Rosalyn. I slide the dagger into her heart. She doesn’t make a sound.

Keon & Javier (Part 3)
In the last part, Javier said that he often prayed, even if he is not a believer. He prayed for good weather, a good fishing catch and often against loneliness. Now comes the sequel.
Tumblr media
“against loneliness? Praying doesn't help with that... I'm a lone wolf now and can no longer wish for my family back from God. I don't even know where I'm supposed to go. This island here..."/ ", as I said, you can learn to adapt, there's plenty of fish, the vegetables are always fresh... And when the moon is full again, you'd better think carefully about what you do"/ "say not to me, but to my inner beast.”
Tumblr media
Suddenly a gurgling sound was heard, followed by an agonized deep squeak. „oh, hehe“/ "Excuse me, please. But it's been almost two days since my last meal, I had fasted before I wanted to go hunting. But unfortunately that didn't work out yesterday"/ "I can make you something to eat, but it won't be fish today, the weather isn't playing ball"/ "that's okay, something to keep things quiet in there again," Keon looked down and held his stomach.
Tumblr media
While Javier prepared something to eat, Keon looked around. “You paint pictures…”/“Yes, more or less. But I prefer to bang on a large block of wood or a block of stone and create a few works of art out of it. When I paint, I often lack inspiration... And motivation too... It was just an attempt, again"/"Can I finish it?"/"Uh, can you even paint?"/"I can do a lot of things"/" well, okay If you want".
Tumblr media
Keon stood at the easel and began to finish the picture of Javier. “I'll probably try it here for a few days first. And I'll get an idea of what the wildlife population is like here"/"I'll tell you right now, you'll be disappointed, but... That shouldn't stop you from staying here."
Tumblr media
“I’m done…”/ “What, already? I haven't even got the food off the oven yet." Javier glanced back over his shoulder and paused for a moment. “You were quick… And you even added a few clear lines”/ “I said yes… I can do a lot of things. That smells very good”/“the spices make up everything, the rest is just corn, corn flour and water, a nice, tasty mush, but it fills you up”.
Tumblr media
“Here, I know it looks like you've eaten before, but it's really better than nothing. And about fasting... As a wolf, you shouldn't do something like that. Because once he's really hungry, there's no control anymore"/"I've often wished I didn't have him, but rather that I was a normal man"/"You're a normal man, Keon, and... Here , take".
Tumblr media
Javier definitely believes in other beings. He has already read many books about mystical and mythical figures. There were some books that could be saved, and there were also other useful reading materials. But the fantasy stories often inspired him very much. But there was never any mention of werewolves there. Curiosity is greater than anything else at the moment - he would like to see him in his wolf form. But what will Keon's nature be like then?
Tumblr media
Keon tries to organize his own thoughts. He still has the terrible events clearly in his head. Professional hunters who stormed his village and murdered everyone but him in cold blood. He was able to escape, but at some point he was pushed into a corner, or rather the cliff, so that there was no turning back for him.
Tumblr media
"Is the weather always this bad here? It's been hailing non-stop since I woke up"/ "well, it's actually summer, normally the sun shines for many hours every day. But it shouldn't be a bad sign"/ "maybe I've brought bad karma with me to the island"/ "I'll show you everything here tomorrow"/ "I'm sure people will be surprised at me"/ "you're not the first castaway here".
Tumblr media
"I didn't come with a ship…"/ "I know that, but the others don't. So you should think carefully about what you say. You're my… roommate now. You went overboard somewhere and floated on the water for days. You must be a fast swimmer, otherwise you wouldn't have come so far in such a short time. We don't know where the next island or the next mainland is."/ "I've lost my bearings too …"
Tumblr media
“the orientation… I've lost mine too, or let's say… I want to go in a certain direction, but I don't know… if it's right to go where I want to go"/ "and where do you want to go, Javier? If I were stuck here as long as you are… I would have strong wishes at some point"/"hh, I have them, but they are difficult to implement"
Tumblr media
“You started praying… Then pray for them to come true”/ “I do that… Every night before I go to sleep. I just never had the feeling that it would do anything, but this morning...I experienced a miracle...I saw how you found your way back to life on your own."/ "That was a miracle for you? Then just wait until the next full moon.”
Tumblr media
In fact, there has never been so much hail here before. Maybe for a few hours, but not the whole day. “And I…should really sleep in your bed?”/ “Sure, I don’t mind sleeping out here in the living room. I often couldn’t make it to bed…”/ “Well, okay… thanks”/ “not for that…”.

are there rumors that the brothel's queens actually happened? i thought the rumour was that it was considered for a second and never went through. also i find it weird if the commonfolk got with the queens and there are no stories about it, so maybe only the guards on the red keep got a turn?
Well the problem is that there were stories about it, a ton of them. Most people in King's Landing believed it happened, because, of the stories going around about it.
My whole thing is that, Do I believe it happened that way?
No.
Do I believe it did happen in some way?
Yes.
The "Brothel Queen's" incident and the confusion around it is because of the 'selective' editing that the Maester did in order to exonerate Rhaenyra, which most of the book does by continuously making excuses for her and the terrible things she does, based on the fact that Aerys was breathing down the writer's neck as he wrote it.
For instance, take Daeron.
Both the original version of the book and the new tie-in version that has replaced it, both claim that Daeron Targaryen was the most handsome, and most beloved son of House Targaryen to the common people. Why? What did he do that he became a hero to the people wherever he went?
You got to chronicle his exploits and then reread the text once you understand that Daeron's ghost after the war haunted the former Blacks for decades - many people considered him the rightful king, and many pretenders appeared to challenge Rhaenyra and Daemon's descendants claiming to be either Daeron or his son to galvanize the population into supporting their claim.
Aegon III named his son eldest son Daeron in the hopes of using the name and association with the original's heroics and valor to get the people on the Blacks side. Daeron "The young Dragon" even became a warrior in order to fit that idealism of the common people and their memory of the Green's and Alicent's Champion.
In fact, both Aegon III and Aegon IV named their son's Daeron in order to steal the valor of the memory of the original in order to endear them to the common people, and what that name represents to them at times when House Targaryen was deeply unpopular.
When you read that, and know that Daeron is an extremely sore subject to the Targaryen Dynasty, especially when both Rhaenyra and Daemon are reviled by their descendants and their names are strictly taboo and forbidden for any Targaryen to name their child. You understand why the Maester is hiding and or contesting all the greater heroic deeds of Daeron Targaryen.
So when you go back and read about the Second Battle of Tumblestone and you read that "Oh, he died because, well, well - you see - a burning pavilion dropped on him or he was killed in his pajamas by some random soldier. You know that's bullshit, because, almost every source says that no one - NO ONE - saw him die or what happened to him. But everyone from the common people to Cregan Stark himself believed Daeron to still be alive and on the prowl somewhere in the Dornish Highlands near Starfall.
Just go back and reread about Tessarion's last stand, fighting both Sea Smoke and Vermiethor ... it's pure and utter bullshit that a dragon does all of that on it's own. You know as the reader, as the maester does as the writer, that Daeron was on Tessarion that night, fighting Adam Hull and then stopping "The Bronze Terror" before he reached King's Landing and killed all those people. You know that it wasn't some random Hightower soldier that put Tessarion out of her misery, that it was Daeron himself. You know that there was a reason that Alicent remained unharmed when Rhaenyra fled.
Or that some random "Hedge Knight" that appears out of nowhere and disappears from history afterward took the Red Keep from the remaining Black Garrison, freed all the Green prisoners and Coryls in the dungeons, honored and cherished Alicent, and then put some squire on the throne that started making decrees and setting policies that - strangely - sound a lot like things Daeron would enact to stabilize the city. Then, when the Baratheons and Aegon show up, "The Hedge Knight" disappears again never to be seen or heard from again.
A classic George RR Martin trope of the "Mystery Knight" that is secretly a character in disguise.
Also, there's a theory - a compelling one - that the main source that the maester is using other than Mushroom is actually Alicent under a pen name. And that Alicent purposefully fudged the records in order to protect Daeron so that no one would come looking for him. Also why there is so scant personal details of her and her fate afterward ... cause both Alicent and Daeron escaped and disappeared from history.
I write all of this, because - sadly - you got to read and then reread the material to find the truth. Which is why no one liked "Fire & Blood" as a book when it came out and why no one likes it still. Because, to understand anything, you have to dig for the context and subtext ... which is a lot to ask of casual readers.
In my opinion, the one-two punch the Season 8 dumpster fire of Game of Thrones along with the self-indulgent mess of "FIre and Blood" killed the franchise.
I didn't like the original version of "Fire & Blood" and upon reading the new "Tie-In" version of it, I like it even less.

Transparency
We said this yesterday, but we wanted to make sure we shouted it from the rafters to celebrate not only our nominees and winners, but the entire fandom who helped to make this event, the first annual Chipped Cup Awards a resounding success. Whether you nominated a fic or piece of art, or voted on the ballot you - yes you - are the ones that made this celebration of our Rumbelle creators possible.
The whole team of moderators was blown away by the number of responses this year, in what we had been led to believe was a fandom event in decline.
Tumblr media
The enthusiasm, especially from our many new Rumbellers, was overwhelmingly positive, and the excitement we felt was tangible. So once again thank you ALL.
In the interest of transparency, because the moderator team is aware, from taking the temperature of the fandom before the event, that some people felt that there was a lack in that regard in the past, here is the process we went through.
The nomination form (Google form) went out to the fandom and responses were collected.  Any fic/art with three or greater separate nominations qualified for the ballot. Since fics could only qualify in two categories fics were entered into categories that either a) the greatest number of nominations occurred in said category, or b) placed to ensure as few categories as possible with a single qualifying fic, because the team felt that it is no fun to win by default.
Three members of the team then created and populated the ballot form - also a Google form), which was then opened to the fandom at the beginning of the voting period, and voting was extended in the last week for two additional days because Google did the counting for us, and provided us with nifty pie charts like so:
Tumblr media
obviously with a key which told us which color represents which fic/art, and provided us with the results.  In the place of a tie - and there were a few - we looked first of all at the total number of nominations for each fic/art, and if that did not break the tie, then we went to either the number of combined kudos and comments from AO3 or the number of notes on the relevant Tumblr post. In all cases ties were successfully broken by these methods and no further strategies were needed.
If anyone has questions about specific categories please message or ‘ask’ the event blog, and a member of the team will be happy to answer your questions and provide you with the appropriate data, so long as - in the case of an ask - it comes from a named Tumblr account.
Finally, keep your eyes on the event blog for the announcement of some changes to the process, which hopefully will make for an even better experience in the 2024 Chipped Cup Awards.  It is a pleasure and an honor to moderate this event for the Rumbelle fandom.

(ask-toto-and-co) Toto: The eevee was more then a little hesitant to approach the raging Flareon. Their anger was more then a tad frightening to faer and she felt as though it would only worsen if she wasn't careful. Putting on a brave face Toto got infront of Yaketsuku and spoke "Sorry to bother you about this, but... earlier you mentioned something about "not a sight of them". Are you looking for someone? we might be able to help if that's the case- if that's too personal I mean!"
Tumblr media
He set his gaze directly at the Eevee, still seething in anger. However, upon noticing the approach that Toto has taken, Yaketsuku could only do his best to hold back his frustrations. Even if it is just a little. He would take a deep inhale, before exhaling deeply while releasing a rather so slightly audible growl. "... Yes, we are looking for someone. But, and I will not repeat this, I will not inform of who this someone is. I'd prefer not to have others sticking their noses in our business and rob us from our glory. It'll be nothing more than a fucking set back.".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His attention would shift towards the Leafeon, granting him a very dirty glare. "Hideki, do not tell them."
Tumblr media
"Uwaah--!! I... Um.. Erm...". He was as shaken as a tree leaf being blown in the wind. Now wielding a grim feeling that he has spoken a little too much, to the point that now he has gotten himself in trouble. "I-I... I'm sorry! I, uh, didn't mean--".
Tumblr media
The shorter Eevee would approach and set his paw onto the Leafeon's arm. Although the sudden physical touch spark a fear in Hideki, as he immediately to begun to yelp and jumped. Once Hideki had taken notice of whom it was, he would open his mouth. But, before he would strike a hurdle of apologies, the Eevee interrupted him. "Big brother, it is ok... Everything will be alright... You did no wrong...".
It was then his attention would then turn towards Yaketsuku. Not seeming the utmost intimated. "Yaketsuku... It wouldn't hurt to tell others... After all, we're not the only Pokemon doing this search...".
Tumblr media
Yaketsuku would release a deep sigh. Rather, he felt very displeased and well, disappointed with what will follow through the Eevee's words. "Hmph... I hate with where you are going with this, Hoshi. You will only cause more attention and make this hunt more difficult.".
Tumblr media
"... It's fine. If we can convince more Pokemon, then maybe they can side with us and make this search easier.".
Hoshi then would resume his attention being faced towards both Toto and the mysterious greyed person. His expression was ever so unchanging, as he chose to remain holding a neutral stance. "I'll keep this short to not bore you... We're here to hunt a legendary... The one that we're looking for is Mew... We've figured that it would be easier to find this particular legendary, as their population count is still greater than the rest... The reward is of great value to even have one captured. Be it dead or alive... We've planned to get one alive and deliver them for the rewards...".
The Eevee took a brief pause. Seeming rather uncertain if what he said could be taken out of context or if it seem rather ill-will to others. "Before you say anything... We do think that this is the better choice, as we do need the money... I cannot speak for my brothers, but I will state for myself that I hold no concerns of what they plan to do with the Legendaries, or why these Pokemon have a high bounty on their heads... My only priority is for the survival of me and my brothers.".
"So if you think badly towards us because of this hunt, then so be it... We have to do this to survive...".
