I can feel this post. Sometimes, people will send in asks that aren't really related to anything I post or it's so poorly written or formatted that I have no idea what they're asking of me. It's so confusing sometimes. *sigh*
(This isn't an attack out to anyone specifically. It's just harder for me to understand things when people just say stuff and don't elaborate.)

Hello! I hope the exams are going well!
I just got some questions (not sure if they’re already answered but god save me-)
I know a human can become a cameraman but can they be converted into a speaker or tvman? Asking for a friend (Coaxial)
Also I know you have been asked this question half to death with various characters but what do you think would happen if Coaxial and Spencer met the Filming industry? (I know Coaxial would be excited as frick)
That’s all that I can remember (I was procrastinating on asking this so I’ve forgotten some of the questions I wanted to ask plus this ask is already pretty long anyway)
Have a nice day/night!
Technically, I suppose there’s a low chance that a human is suitable to convert into a speakerman or TV man. Believe it or not, human bodies are more fragile than it seems.
The speakermen are known to be able to emit high-frequency sound waves, as well as the ability to use sound blasts, which in turn generate high air pressure, these features are extremely lethal to human organs. According to research, exposure to 170-200 decibels can be life-threatening like burst lungs and ruptured eardrums, and exposure to 240 decibels is instant death. If you need real-life examples, 150 decibels is equivalent to gunshots, while 200 decibels is equivalent to standing near a rocket when it takes off or a volcanic eruption. On the other hand, constant exposure to vibration caused by the speaker itself can be life-threatening, since it can potentially alter the neural pathways and muscles in the human body, which there’s some studies claim that motorcyclists tend to have shorter life expectancy due to the constant vibration of the engine.
The TV men, which is another level of danger when it comes to humans. There are no studies that are able to claim that the radiation from the cathode ray tube (CRT) is capable of causing instant damage or death. But just think about it, if you expose your organic body to radiation 24/7 for years, it could potentially cause mutation in your DNA which may lead to cancer. Furthermore, constant exposure to radiation can also cause changes in neural pathways.
As for meeting the Film Industry … ok, first of all (INTENSE INHALATION) yes, I’ve been getting tons of asks from people to let their OCs meet them. But seriously, WHAT IN THE NINE REALMS ARE YOU MEETING THEM FOR? If you want to get acquainted with them sure thing, if you want an autograph you could just ask, if you want to discuss scientific matters they’re welcome, if you want a quick death or get grossed out Foley is glad to oblige. Just two words – BE SPECIFIC.

I know it’s not hard to point out reactionaries hypocrisy when it comes to like safe spaces or hug boxes or whatever but genuinely how much of an echo chamber do you have to exist in for you to think this is a reasonable thing to say

Just a small question.
Since tv mimics can have multiple limbs, can they have different shapes/types of limbs?
Yes! TV mimic limbs can be mostly any part of their body and they have a variety of choices to make when they wield them. For instance, they can have typical limbs, with elbows and claws just like normal. But they can also decide to have tendrils/wires, clothing (scarves and coattails mostly), sometimes even having "artificial" extensions (robotics or mechanized limbs). The stronger TV mimics can even have disembodied limbs or hands! Their multiple limbs usually grow in during their childhoods and the mimic in question can decide which style they like the most. Keeping that style long into adulthood!

Okay, you know what? After reading this post, I jokingly said we should all just make a pact to reblog it five times a day forever. So I'm gonna do this louder for the people in the back:
AO3 WAS CREATED BY FANS, FOR FANS
AO3 IS RUN BY FANS (VOLUNTEERS, NO LESS)
AO3 IS PART OF THE NON-PROFIT, ORGANIZATION FOR TRANSFORMATIVE WORKS
AO3 IS NOT OWNED BY ANY COMPANIES AND DOES NOT EARN REVENUE
AO3 OPERATES ON DONATIONS FROM FANS
again:

Well! Results are in! Guess I need to put a sideblog together! <: ) I'll let you know when it's done!
I've been thinking of making a sideblog where the resident human and mimics can reply to you in character. Would you guys like that?

YOOO THAT LOOKS SO COOL
not really brain worms, but i kinda just wanted to draw you as a robot walrus. no reason, just walrus.
Tumblr media
sorry its bad, didnt really spend time on it and i dont really know how to draw robot parts
I love this!
You drew me a funny thing based on my blog! This is a wonderful human interaction - thank you so much!! 💕 (Why is there no walrus emoji, booo.) I love that it's giant too, haha!
I feel like this!

(In case anyone doesn't know, my userpic on AO3 is a walrus, just because I think they're cool. See also this post by @cosmica-galaxy)
I'm probably going to make a walrus altsona at this rate, haha.

This is actually very plausible! A theory if you will, that maybe Clock Mimic diets are satisfied through kinetic energy as well. Clocks usually move by the cogs or gears inside of them, usually powered by either steam or electricity, so that would be a firmer explanation on why they need the external sources of energy, yet they can't consume food normally like most mimics. Plus, an electric shock would probably be the main way a clock mimic can stun a prey item long enough to drain them. It would also explain their speed and them being incredibly fast hunters and movers. So yes, I would say that this is very canon to the clock mimic lore.
Electricity is the lifeblood of both hardwares and organics alike. Even though clock mimics prefer to not cross the paths of units, most likely because of the head-hunting thing. So they keep to themselves and dwell in quiet locations, abandoned colleges, or in environments that used to produce large amounts of electricity. Like power stations or abandoned power grids. That also brings Gearbriel into the picture, since I think the reason why he managed to survive in a cathedral for so long is that he would be able to fly up into a storm and absorb energy that way. Pretty much a boon to being part Speaker Mimic. He would've never had to leave his home at all, he would just have to take a short flight. In a way, they're like electric vampires. Which is pretty damn cool!
How a Clock Mimic eats:
I call them "soul stealers" (Clock mimics), but I actually think they are mostly after the prey's cells or stored energy. Hence, life "energy". You could be all typical and whimsical and say "oh they steal souls or whatever lol", but it's more scientific then that.
They literally REACH into your body to steal all of your sources of energy. Every cell in your body makes energy and it draws its nourishment from that. When I say "sucks you dry", I mean that in a partial literal sense.
The biggest reason why the prey of a clock mimic will lay on the ground and look all confused, is mostly because the clock mimic drains out all of their cells that produce energy. This could be components of your blood, your stored fat and carbs, as well as anything else they can literally DRAIN out of you. Your nutrients becomes THEIR nutrients. In a way, it's similar to the drill mimics, but in a much more prestigious way with much more damage.
Most of their prey actually die from lack of blood PRESSURE then actual blood loss, as well as becoming comatose because their brain has had all of the energy rich cells/fats/carbs ripped STRAIGHT out of them, causing a lethal dip in the homeostasis that keeps your body in equilibrium. You can also tell if a creature is a victim of a clock mimic if they bleed a grayish WHITE "blood" or their eyes are entirely gray. Yes. The clock mimics can even take pigmentation from their prey. Irises, pupils, hair, hemoglobin, ect. This is what causes the "rapid aging" effect when they drain a victim.
THAT is what makes them terrifying and VERY dangerous. As well as having a VERY slow metabolism, clock mimics can compact the energy they take into their own body, usually in the chest or "head" compartment. It's argued that these versions of mimic don't even have a stomach, which is why they drain vitality from other external sources to get the nutrients they need to power their own organic parts. That also makes their heads, unfortunately, pretty valuable as energy containers or long term batteries. As the body of the clock mimic contains that energy so effectively, it can power devices for months, or years if it's a large mimic, even LONG after the clock mimic has died. Because their body can no longer ingest the material they consumed, it simply sits as a compacted energy inside of their head or chest, waiting to naturally burn out with decomposition or…be put to use by lucky scavengers. In a way, Clock Mimics can be considered "parasitic feeders", since they rely on other organisms to survive. However, "friendly" Clock Mimics can leave prey alive by managing how they drain. So instead of draining them entirely and causing lethal damage, they have a more gentle approach and will steadily drain the host in a careful manner to avoid causing serious damage. When the prey begins to feel the effects too much, the mimic will retract. Alliance scientists have dubbed the lethal feeding as "Parasitic" and the more friendly and polite version of feeding as "Vampiric". One kills the prey and the other merely feeds on them just enough to satisfy. -- This has been a log from the resident human. Logger: Resident Human Subject: Feeding Mimic: Clock Mimic (Comrade)
