there are many things that left me utterly happy about gotg vol. 3, but one I haven't seen many people mention is that Peter refers to Mantis as his sister at least twice in the movie. Like obviously they are all a big found family and they call each other as such. But there's something about the aknowledgement of Mantis put in the same regard as Peter's grandpa on earth. Something about the fact that he considers her as well as a blood relative because they are both the children of Ego, and Ego raised Mantis to be a tool in the same manner he would've done so with Peter if he had the chance, and they were both taken advantage of by him. And despite all that they both went through because of Ego, they at least managed to find each other.
sokka will say something literally correct, but his friends will disagree and then clown on him mercilessly for saying that (true) thing, and then even when he ultimately proven unambiguously right, everyone can only remember how relentlessly he got clowned on. which is actually a perfect representation of having younger siblings, no notes

ok now that I think about it we definitely should talk about Dr Ronald Speirs, PhD in Classical Studies, Professor (fast track to tenure) of Latin Language and Roman History
he enters the room and instantly has all his students reciting each declension; "now, class, from the 1st declension, singular to plural, begin: A, AE, AE, AM, Ā/AE, ARUM, ĪS, ĀS, ĪS, well done. now, 2nd declension--"
then he stands at the back of the classroom with a meter stick he whacks into the nearest empty desk to make sure people are paying attention while he grills students and their translations of the most absurdly simple sentences; "once again, frūctus is 4th declension, why do you keep translating it into 2nd declension, the plural is not frūcti it is frūctūs, do it again--"
and then if you get it wrong more than three times you have to stay standing, reciting all 5-ish declensions again and again until the class is finished. and you BET he makes you do the 3rd declension twice because he doesn't make you forget the I-stem.
and that's just his Latin I class. imagine Latin II.

Bartolomé Estebán Murillo (Spanish, 1617-1682)
Joseph and his Brethren, ca. 1665-70
The Wallace Collection
According to the Book of Genesis, Joseph was the favourite son of his father Jacob and much envied by his elder brothers. When he appeared to his brothers wearing a new coat of many colours given to him by his father, they resolved to kill him due to their jealousy. Murillo depicts the moment when Joseph’s brother Reuben persuaded the others to mitigate the crime by abandoning the boy in an empty well.
okay. I am far from fluent in ancient languages. but I know enough to recognize that if you tell me you're speaking Greek and then say "noster rex" you might be lying to me.
