Culture Differences
In Brazil, it's considered really weird to refer to people by their last name other than in extremely formal circumstances.
Students refer to their teachers by their first name or as "teacher" (sometimes very little kids may also call their teacher Aunty or Uncle).
When talking to an elderly person you often add the honorific Dona (f) or Senhor* (m) ahead of their name, but you still call them by their first name (e.g Dona Otilia and Senhor Daniel were my school principals when I was little. To this day I have no idea what their surname was).
* In colloquial language, Senhor often gets shortened to Sô.

I love how Christians talk about early Christians like they were a monolith
Here's just a handful of early Christian denomination beliefs:
Adamites: Would hold services naked and were not monogamous.
Arianites: Believed that Jesus & God were two separate people, that Jesus was the son of God, and that Jesus didn't always exist.
Bardaisanites: Thought the sun, moon, and planets were living beings, to whom, under God, the government of this world was largely entrusted; and though Man was free, he was strongly influenced for good or for evil by the constellations.
Carpocratians: They believed in reincarnation and were encouraged to experience everything there is in life (sinful and moral alike) so that they wouldn't have to reincarnate to experience what they had missed out on. They believed that going against Jewish biblical law was a serious responsibility because said laws came from evil angels who created the world. They also were of the belief that Jesus wasn't a deity, but rather an enlightened role model people should strive to be like (kinda like the Buddha). (According to Irenaeus of Lyons)
Colarbasians: Believed the whole of truth and religion to be contained in the Greek alphabet; and that it was for this reason that Jesus was called the Alpha and Omega.
Marcionites: Believed the god Yahweh (the Jewish, Christian, & now Muslim god) was an evil, tyrannical deity, & that the god featured in the Hebrew Scriptures was not the Father of Jesus Christ. They forbade marriage and urged celibacy, since bringing more children into the world meant bringing more people into captivity to the evil Yahweh.
Montanists: Allowed women prominent positions in the sect, such as bishops, presbyters, and deacons.
Simonians: Believed that the Holy Spirit was feminine and reincarnated as different women, most notably Helen of Troy.
Valentinianists: Considered the god of the Old Testament as the imperfect creator of the material world. One needed to recognize the Father, the depth of all being, as the true source of divine power in order to achieve gnosis (knowledge). Gnosis, not faith, was the key to salvation.

Random Fact #6,542
A century before Rosa Parks, there was Elizabeth Jennings
In 1854, she refused to get off of a streetcar that only allowed white passengers.
She was arrested. She sued (and won), and her case led to the eventual desegregation of NYC's public transit.

The racist bigoted way the first-world press talks about American school shootings
They often say that "the US has more school shootings than any first-world country" implying that third-world countries are rife with school shootings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The US has more school shootings than ANY country.
Between January 2009 to May 2018 you know what the highest number of school shootings in a third-world country (Mexico) was?
8.
You know what the US number of school shootings in the same timeframe was?
288.
The 19 countries with the highest number of school shootings are almost evenly split between first-world countries and third-world countries, with the first-world countries actually being the higher number.

(Brazil had 2 school shootings, btw; same as Canada and France)

Third Sight - The Zula Patrol Explained
NOTE: This post contains some spoilers for events that will be appearing in a few of my Zula Patrol fics—namely, The Zula Patrol: Dreamscape Crusade Remastered. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Well, here I am, back with another lore post! Which I totally didn’t create just so I could yell about my all time favorite character. You’ve gotta believe me XD
But yeah, this is going to be a fun post talking about a little known fact about The Zula Patrol that was removed from the actual cartoon…and which I brought back for this fanfic!
The Background: What IS This Cool Thing?
Glad you asked!
In the original books that Deb Manchester wrote for The Zula Patrol, the stalwart alien team was a little different than we know them. For one thing, they weren’t stupid like they are in the cartoon series (constantly falling for Truder’s schemes even though they SHOULD’VE figured them out by now being a prime example). Their personalities were kinda set in stone, though, so there’s that.
Another way that they were different ties to their abilities—specifically, the ability of the team’s scientist, Multo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, you read that right. In one of the original books, Multo had the ability to see the future, and was called upon by Bula to use his visions to help the team (in this case, helping Zeeter navigate out of the dark side of an eclipse before she crashed). It’s an ability that basically everyone knows about in the books, but is nowhere to be seen in the cartoon. My guess is that some things had to be changed before making it to television, and his future seeing ability had to go. On the other hand, they had to nerf him a bit. This along with his smarts would have made him the most OP member of the force by default!
Once I learned about this, I knew I had to include it in the Remastered edition of Dreamscape Crusade, albeit in its own twists. The term that’ll be used to describe Multo’s ability is Third Sight.
What is Third Sight?
To put it simply, the Third Sight is an innate psychic ability that allows its holder to have short visions of the future. It cannot be taught; one has to be born with it, and it develops at a young age through an initiation process known as a “Breach”. It’s so named because many aliens consider this to be a “third line of sight”. There are many advantages to it, such as predicting events and preventing horrible situations, like the one described above.
However, Third Sight is a tricky, fickle thing. Aliens can have false predictions and sightings, leading to all sorts of crazy situations. This is actually so common that those with surprising accuracy are considered rare and are highly sought after. In addition, the “Breach” is a dangerous process that deals with the recipient fighting the inner demons and struggles of their minds—some are so horrifying that those who undergo it risk never waking up again. Those who do wake up are changed completely by the experience, in both personality and thought process, and are unable to share their thoughts for weeks. Some visions can cause pain to users’ nerves and can disrupt sensory perception as well. Even experienced users are known to suffer from debilitating migraines.
Those who have near-perfect accuracy in their visions of the future are heralded as visionaries, and are highly sought after, often by other aliens who want to use them for their nefarious purposes.
There are many who have had this ability, though their abilities differ in power level. The most powerful one is Ungor, a mysterious being who lived during the Previous Zulean Era, and is tied in with Paragor’s past (from chapter 3 of TZP:DCR). Considered the father of Third Sight, as his accuracy was unparalleled, and second to Paragor himself, there was no equal. On Zula, he’s regarded as a god…something that he finds strange since the concept of “gods” is strange to him. As of the moment, he’s only slated to only appear in TZP: DCR, though he MAY appear in that ZP/SW/MQ/DS idea I had.
Multo’s Third Sight puts him at a visionary level, something that he’s aware of. His power allows him to feel people’s emotions, mental state and see events (past or present) through touch. For him, though, it’s rather sudden, and seeing these visions is akin to having flash bombs go off in his mind, and can cause him intense pain behind the eyes. Multo, being the person who doesn’t like to make people worry, didn’t tell people about this for years, knowing that his status would make him a target. He would share this with a few close people, namely his Zula Patrol teammates, and his close friends Autofocus and Precipito. This ability of Multo’s appears in the Remastered vision Dreamscape Crusade (where it receives MUCH more focus), Don’t Leave Me, and Love Language (where this also gets a bit of focus in chapters 1 and 3).
There are a few more people that have this ability, but I’m going to save them for when I update this post after chapter 4 is updated. There will be quite a few surprises ^^
I hope you guys like this post, and do leave a like/reblog if ya did!

Religious Privilege
In Italy, during the 2020 spring lockdown many schools provided Catholic teaching among the other remote learning classes, but omitted to do the same with an alternative subject for students who opted out of the Catholics class, despite having an alternative class being a legal right of students.
