A Tale of Two Cities got brought up again time to revive my favorite fact that when my high school class read it we referred to Madame Defarge's knitting holding people's names to kill as The Knit List

gay ass socks (part 1)
hey there! first post on this blog! i thought it might be nice to have a more casual place to share my projects (i used to maintain an instagram for this, but who has that kind of time, right?)
so, anyways. The Socks.
i knit these suckers back in, like, spring 2022? something like that? they were a shockingly fun project for something so big and repetitive, but unfortunately back then i was a terribly tight knitter (i'm still prone to gauge issues, but at least i know how to deal with it now) and they came out way too small to ever be wearable. they've been shamefully shoved in the bottom of my forgotten projects bin since then
but damn do i love the idea of these socks and i still badly went to wear them! so i'm finally frogging them and starting over
i did most of the frogging the other night while rewatching alien (1979), then last night i reskeined them-
-which looks pleasantly like ramen noodles, and then dunked them in some cold water and straightened out the fibers. they're hanging up to dry now but i bet i'll be able to rewind them tonight and maybe cast on the toes!
i'm going to redo these in a slightly different pattern - this time i'll try out "Brioche Topped Thigh High Socks" by Lavanya Patricella, because i've been in a brioche mood lately, and i want to try and use up every scrap of the yarn to get these socks as long as possible!
also i need a nice easy project to bring to lectures, and my other project (big cabled cardigan) is not working out for that
anyways, thanks for reading and i can't wait to show more of this project!

I finished one project that means I get to cast on one more right?? Even if I have 8 wips?????
At some point, I lost my favourite scarf. I've been using my shawls instead but they're really big and are slightly harder to style than said favourite scarf (it was blue/dark green and matched a lot of my clothes). While I was checking out yarn, trying to decide if it would be worth to reknit my old scarf when I might be able to find it, I saw this cute yarn! Butterfly by Premier Yarns, it's made for shawl knitting with 2/3rds of the yarn being solid and the last 1/3rd being striped.
Premier Yarns is possibly the most hit or miss of all the yarn brands I've used but when it hits, I really like them. I'm still not 100% sure either way with this particular yarn but it's probably a hit, it's very soft and nice in stockinette (I didn't want to deal with curling so I went with full garter, which is Fine in this yarn). It is pretttyyy splitty, but not so bad I have to consistently look at it while knitting.
I'm only halfish? following a pattern right now. I knew I wanted a crescent shawl (aka 6 increases every other row) and found one but honestly I've already changed so much from the original it's pretty much not even the same pattern. I still have it listed as the pattern I'm working on in Ravelry but that's only if I use the lace from the pattern, which I'm undecided.

Not every podcast piece I've ever made is in my shop, but most of them are! This includes some newer shows and some older shows with less active fan spaces, but that are still incredibly beloved to me. Check them out and get a 15% discount (using the link below or the code PODCASTLOVE) until the end of the year!

I Googled "blunt plastic knitting needles for air travel", because I thought after two-decades-plus of security theatre, that might be a thing by now.
A fair number of the first results were for medical lancets.
That is the opposite of what I wanted. "Did you mean sharp metal medical needles that would definitely get you pulled aside" no Google I absolutely did not mean that.
Edit @ everyone who means well: America is not the world and I had zero contact with the TSA. I was travelling by Emirates from England to Japan via UAE. I had specifically looked this up in advance.
