one more love song?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing ⇾ luke castellan x hades’ daughter reader (gendered stuff isn’t mentioned anywhere in the post so it can be read as gn)
word count ⇾ 3k
summary ⇾ luke is a simp, tries to confess, you guys share earphones and sit near the lake at night. the moon loves you 🫶
author’s note ⇾ so most of this is just happened to be written as luke admiring the reader rather than what i was actually going to go for, but i’m really happy with how it turned out :) hope you enjoy it as well 💌 wrote this all in one setting. when inspo hits.. it hits like a truck 🚛 this one is for my quiet people, and maybe a little self indulgent. guilty as charged your honour. no use of y/n.
Tumblr media
you had a thing for luke castellan, and he had a thing for you too. it was no secret to anyone. but none of the other campers understood why you both preferred to dance around each other’s feelings rather than addressing them. even though everyone could feel the immense tension you both carried around whenever you were near each other, no one chose to mention it. it would be like taking a gun and pointing the muzzle right at ones own head — it was a death sentence really, hearing you both deny it. so they all just went along with ignoring it like you both pretended to do.
you were the daughter of hades, the king of the underworld and part of the trinity. that definitely added a little intimidation to your already mysterious aura. luke on the other hand was a possessive guy, even if he didn’t show it. sure, he was extremely confident, and even a little egotistical - yes, but all for the right reasons of course (as per him). but he was possessive nonetheless. that’s why it killed him inside each day that he couldn’t call you his, and himself as yours.
he really didn’t like anyone else approaching you with any unwanted intentions. though, don't get him wrong, he's well aware that you could protect yourself. hell, you could protect the entire camp just by yourself alone, but still — he felt a pang of jealously whenever some apollo’s kid talked with you for too long. or when your discussions with some guy from the hephaestus’ cabin were too long. he knew that you guys were just discussing your plans for some of their inventions and how you could help by designing their ideas into structural sketches. afterall, you were good with sketches, a hobby of yours, those from cabin 9 made sure to utilise to their fullest. even though he knew it all, he still felt some unwanted feelings swirl inside him.
he wanted to confess to you, oh he wanted to do that so badly. but he just didn't know how to.. you didn't seem the kind who’d like the usual route. for the sake of olympus itself - you didn’t even send him any signs, other than meeting back his longing gaze with just as much passion. he knew there had to be something between you two. there’s no way it could be all in his head.
but you — you never tried to make the first move, shit, you didn’t make any moves at all. and luke knows he’s a confident guy, he knows he’s amazing and all that glory speech he gives around to the new comers but oh you. you just make him rethink it all. he doesn’t know how to act around you - he feels so different around you.
as if you put some kind of spell on him that makes him loose this carefully handcrafted personality, his façade. and he's back to being the kid he was - just trying to prove himself somehow in some way. but at least you never abandoned him.. nor did you ever make him feel unwanted. unlike his.. his dad. he doesn’t need to impress you, you’ve made that clear with your actions. but still he - he really wants to.
𓇚
he recalls back when you still pretended to be unclaimed and stayed at the hermes cabin. though later on (like a whole month later) everyone found out that you knew your dad was hades and you shifted to the newly made hades cabin. it happened in such a funny manner where you stated it to the suprised chiron like it was just another fun fact about you. totally not some very critical and important information. camp half-blood having a kid of one of the three and not just any but of hades, who was always so adamant on not sending his kids to camp that the gods had an entire incident regarding it. but here you were.
anyway that’s not the point. he just really liked you and had felt a pull towards you since the beginning. he observed you from afar during your first few weeks at camp. when it was your third week at camp and you had developed the constant habit of staying up every night and sneaking out. he followed, ofcourse he was just being a good head counselor. afterall till you were in the hermes cabin you were someone he had to make sure followed the rules or whatever. he didn’t care for that much, he just wanted to know what you were always up to.
you always hid away by the time he followed you out. he had made sure that this week, this day, he’d finally follow you without you hiding away in the shadows. of course you weren’t dumb either. you could feel another shadow added to the ones you were controlling, and you felt like having a little fun with the castellan boy. so you let him follow you. (and luke found out about that fact weeks later, and safe to say he was annoyed that he wasn’t slick enough. though he got back on you, he showed you just how smooth he could be during sword fighting practice. spoiler: by the end of the match you were under him with a sword pressed on your neck and his smirk making you feel things.)
back to what happened on your third week at camp - as he followed you he realised you were headed towards the lake. oh so this was your favourite spot. he looked at you from afar, you looked breathtaking.
the moonlight shined on your figure sitting by the lake. you were probably listening to some music, since you had your earphones in.
he held his breath, he wanted to carve this scene in his memory forever. you truly looked like a goddess, the serene view and a serene beauty (you). a perfect combination indeed.
after giving himself some pep talk mentally and encouraging himself to actually go to you, he finally did. and oh boy was he glad he did - because that was the start of your friendship, and something more.
he still fondly remembers how you smiled when he finally came and sat beside you.
“finally came out of your hiding spot, castellan?” you said in a light tone. “you knew?” he asked suprised, but not really. “i know everything that goes in the shadows.” you said and smiled while taking off one earphone and handing it out to him. he took it gratefully.
that day you shared an earphone with him and in return took a piece of his heart with you.
that was the beginning of whatever the hell was going on between you and luke castellan. he understood later on what you had meant by the shadows comment when a week later you had casually revealed who your father was and shifted cabins, much to luke’s displeasure.
but you guys remained friends nonetheless and continued to keep each other company on moonlit nights.
𓇚
he still remembers when you first came to camp. you were so eerily quiet. your presence drew him to you like a moth to a flame. your eyes felt like they held galaxies and whenever you met his gaze he felt his heart could explode. though you didn't smile often, but oh god’s when you did grin at some stupid lame joke he made, or when something silly happened, he just found himself falling deeper and deeper in love with you.
though he notices. he notices how you keep your smiles to yourself and put a hand over your mouth whenever you do laugh. the reason? he truly doesn’t understand. because why in the world would you do that? you’re the most gorgeous being to have graced this earth, why would you not let him get addicted to your smiles and the sound of your melodious laughter which is sweet like nectar and has the warmth of ambrosia. as he knew it was a rare sight, he made sure to capture the memory to replay it in his head whenever he misses you.
you're so beautiful to him and your presence is so comforting. the deathly touch your aura carries has makes it all the more breathtaking. oh he's in it bad. he knows it.
𓇚
both your secret meet ups began increasing as weeks went by. you both talked about everything under the sun (or the moon, in your case). and even though you weren’t much of a talker when you were in groups during the day, luke felt glad that atleast when you were with him you spoke your heart out.
you made him feel so much at ease. even with all his responsibilities at camp and his plans.. and everything else that eats up his soul — in moments such as these, he feels like just another teenage boy. not the kid who got abandoned by his parents, not the teenager who had to protect his friends and had to prove something to the gods, not the head counselor and the greatest swordsman to have been in 300 hundred years, but just- just another teenage boy, a boy in love. oh he loved you. so much.
and that's why he decided he was finally going to confess to you tonight. he was going to set up a beautiful moment and hold your hand while looking in your eyes and confess how much he adores you and finally ask you to be his.
he felt a little nervous, which is so unlike him. c’mon, he has fought innumerable monsters and survived so many deathly quests, how is finally telling you what he’s been wanting to since forever making him more nervous than either of those situations? oh the things you do to him..
when he reached there you were already sitting near the lake at your favourite spot. as soon as he came closer, you turned your head towards him with a soft smile and said, “hey you” “hey me” he replied. he doesn’t miss the way you put an automatic smile on his face, as he sits beside you. you both sit in comfortable silence, your bodies making contact from the shoulders. neither of you move away, finding comfort in one another’s presence and touch.
being a demigod was.. anything but a normal experience to say the least. but finding someone who makes you feel.. more closer to the human part of yourself was something not everyone could find. but you both were so glad you did with one another.
as moments passed by, luke felt you lean your head on his shoulder. he relaxed into your touch as he looked down at your face to find your eyes closed. he knew you weren’t sleeping, just resting. he found himself forming a small smile as he looked at you.
then he started, “you know, i wanted to tell you something today.” you hummed in response waiting for him to continue. “i..” he felt his throat dry up. it’s always so easy to talk to you, so why is it that right now he feels unable to form words? your presence is always so calm and serene so why does his heart feel like it’s going a million miles per hour?
“hey.. hey look at me” you said in your calm voice as you softly held his face. he met your eyes, and oh he swears he could just get lost in the galaxy that lays within your eyes. you look at him with you sweet smile and say, “you can tell me anything, you know?” “i know.” his reply is almost immediate. you just smile at that “then go on”.
he closes his eyes to compose himself. he knows that he doesn’t need to pretend with you. but he also wants to tell you everything he feels for you and how you’ve taken all over his body, mind and soul. but he can’t formulate them into words. he just— “i love you too castellan.” “what” “what? you were trying to confess right? i only helped you.” you said smiling softly at him. “i.. well i..” he was dumbfounded. he had thought of so many ways this would probably go and the many ways he could say it but you.. you said it first.
“is that a pout?” you ask with a giggle. he feigns offense, “i do not pout.” “oh that was definitely a pout.” you teased. “it wasn't.” “oh it so was.” he rolls his eyes. “whatever. i just wanted to make it romantic or something i don't know. i mean i even got you a cassette tape with songs i dedicated to you and—” “you dedicated songs to me? and got them in a cassette tape? how even- when did you get the time to get that done? did you go out of camp for-” you said suprise clear in your voice but he interrupted you. “well obviously i dedicate songs to you infact they were so many that i had to choose the best of the best. and how i got the cassette and the player is just part of the trade secrets, darling.” he winked. and you just giggled and kissed him.
luke had imagined kissing you before, but it was never as close to the real deal. he was addicted to say the least. your lips tasted so sweet and felt so soft. for being the kid with the aura of death, you sure brought back life to him.
by now you were on his lap with his arms wrapped around you. you both were just sitting on the grass and taking in each other's presence and feeling peaceful with how close your hearts were.
slowly you took out your earphones from your pocket and gave him one wire. “so, one more love song?”

Am I the asshole for using very harsh words after trying to defend my sister?
So, me (17F) have a little sister (14F) and we study on the same school. My sister is usually very shy, but a very fun kid to be around when you meet her. She's kind, smart and very funny. She knows how to fight when she has to protect someone (me, our cousins, etc) because she is a very loyal person, but she doesn't know how to even yell when someone fights to her. She gets embarrassed easily and gets nervous, she chooses to ignore.
She's chubby (which it doesn't make her any less beautiful) and she already faced some unfunny jokes from other people before, which made her insecure about her body, but something so serious never happened to her... Until two weeks ago. So, I was hanging around with my friends, going back to my classroom when the school break was over. But one of my sister's little friend came to me and told my sister was crying in the bathroom and didn't wanted to get back to class.
My heart skipped a beat and I ran straight to the bathroom. When I got there, my sister's nerd little friends were all around her trying to talk to her, and she was there: her head hidden in her hands and hipcupping so much she couldn't even talk to me. One of her friends told me there was a girl in her class (let's call her Amanda) that was bullying her for at least a month, but now Amanda got worse: she called my sister an ugly cow in front of the whole class and said my sister's ginger hair looks bad. And Amanda also put chewed gum in her hair. Man, my vision got red. I was out of the bathroom before anyone could stop me and the only thing I heard was my sister telling me to don't go. But it didn't matter. That friend (the one that came to me to tell me about my sister) was following me and told which one of the kids walking to the classroom was Amanda. When I laid my eyes on Amanda, I realized that I've seen her around the school halls before. I know her kind: those young girls that are not even on highschool but try to act older. Using long ass nails and talking loudly about inappropriate things so she can be that girl. I tapped her back, she turned to me and I said "Are you the bitch bothering [my sister's name]?" and... Well, that's when the chaos began.
Basically, all the kids from her class and other classes were watching it all. Amanda was still acting all tough and saying she was just joking, that my sister was too weak to handle the truth and told me to fuck off. I also said some shit to her (I'm not gonna say some words because I think is inappropriate even for tumblr, but the least offensive thing I said was that she needed to grow tf up. And I called her a whore). But there was something that now is a water divider. Amanda is black and has a afro hair, that's always in a Black Power style. and I'm not racist. Never been. I don't even know what happened in this specific moment, but I was so done with her attitude that I think maybe I lost my head a bit? Amanda was trying to play victim saying I was making this a big deal. My sister's friend (that was having my back the whole fight) threw in Amanda's face that she got gum stuck on my sister hair, and Amanda said "yes, and? What she [and proceeded to point at me] gonna do about that, huh? try to stick gum in my hair too?" and I said "I don't need the gum, a comb can do the work already. Can you even pet your head without losing your hand?"
For a moment is like everyone went silent.
And the in the next moment, Amanda was screaming her lungs in the hall, yelling "fuck you". And said "not so fun when somebody makes fun of your hair now, right bitch?". Anyway, the teaches broke up the fight, everyone went back to class (and gladly my sister went back to class with no problem, her friends had her back). Amanda got detention and the principal will have some serious talk with Amanda and her mom (that wasn't any happy about her daughter behaving like a bully). Like I said, that was two weeks ago. Everything went to normal but some people still talk about it. My friends say that I am right, but they're saying I should be more careful next because what I said was racist. I didn't even realised how bad that sounded until now, because when the fight was happening, I could only thinking about different ways I could jump in her throat. My other friend said that he thought it was good that I said that, because, racist or not, now the girl will think twice before hating someone's hair too. My teacher (one of the teachers that broke up the fight) said she was at my side, but that I should be more careful because I I ran the risk of losing my reason.
Now I'm seriously thinking, I'm feelling kind of guilty now. Was I the asshole or not? Saying that was a bad move, even if my intention was just making her taste her own medicine?

Hi Hi Mange!!! I hope ya arent in a bad mood and ur having a good day cuz I got a request for u!
Ight so..
Can you please do platonic Monster Trio x teen! Reader?
The reader is cute and really bubbly and positive, always smiling and always laughing their problems away, so what happens if they see that innocent reader….fight for the first time and go into serious mode in a battle. The reader is all serious and cold when in battle, once they come back from it all bloodied and bruised but smiling and laughing as they walk away from the bodies behind them-
They were expecting the young one to be weak but they were wrong, so so wrong-
Anyways I hope you have a good life and thanks baiiiiii!!!!
⟡    ֺ   𓂂  headcanons  ,  with a bubbly crewmate who gets serious in battle.
Tumblr media
✸     characters! . . .  luffy, zoro & sanji.
✸     cw(s)! . . .  platonic. brief mentions of blood. violence. no pronouns used. not proofread.
✸     notes! . . .  back on my best bro trio type shit. requests like this have my heart i swear. thank you so much for requesting !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
luffy is definitely the least surprised. he kind of always figured you had a strong side. he has a radar for things like this
yes he has a ‘you are probably a little scary when provoked’ radar
when a fight breaks out, luffy is already jumping into action, thinking about the consequences later
he just has a hunch that you are able to take care of yourself, but he doesn’t know just how strong you actually are
so when you emerge from the cloud of smoke with a few bruises, busted knuckles, and a smile alongside the small pile of bodies from the assholes you just beat up, he can’t help but be amazed by your strength
he thinks you’re even cooler than before
he wants you to teach him some of your moves so he can incorporate them into his own move set
that really cool dodge move up into a spinning roundhouse kick ?? you HAVE to teach him that or he’s going to bother you until you do
you’re unsure why the future pirate king would even want to learn some of your moves when he’s already really strong. but it makes you feel good that he does want to learn from you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
zoro has a habit of basically adopting cute people, i.e. you and chopper
he doesn’t particularly think that you are ‘weak’ because he hasn’t seen you fight yet.
but from your personality, he just can’t picture you being much of a fighter
oh boy, was he wrong
watching you literally tackle a guy twice your size and beat his face in was differently not on his bingo card
shocked is not even the word that comes to mind. it’s like you’re an entirely different person
after you wipe the blood from your nose with the back of your hand, you turn back into the sweet kid who is always smiling and laughing
seeing you practically skipped away from your victims over to him
when he’s over his shock, he asks you when you became so strong and where did you learn all of that
you probably don’t notice but a proud smile appears on his face as you recount your training, talking about all the guys you’ve beaten up even before you joined the crew
he’d love to fight alongside you next time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sanji has the biggest soft spot for you and wants to protect you from everything because you’re too pure for this world
despite you being a pirate just like him, in his eyes you do no wrong
but this one time, he couldn’t protect you, getting caught up in a fight of his own. when he finished his own battle, he looked around for you with all kinds of alarms sounding off his head
he finally spots you bruised and bleeding from your nose and a gash on the side of your head. but you stood tall, with your usual healing smile.
but at the sight of your condition, he’s panicked. he rushes to your side, trying to stop the bleeding
he’s so busy repeatedly asking if you’re okay, he hardly even notices the five or so enemies you took out by yourself
finally you point it out, pointing to the bodies that surrounded you. he doesn’t even want to believe it at first
the sweet ( y/n ), who he babied, fought all of these people ?? the sweet ( y/n ) who wouldn’t even hurt a fly ?? there was no way
he’d have to see it to believe it. and was he in for the shock of his life to see you with ease become serious and take down yet another group of enemies. all before turning back to him with a smile and a giggle
seeing you switch so easily between the two...it was...scary to him at first
he is proud of you for being able to protect yourself, but he still wants to be the one to protect you. he has a hard time letting it go

WarioWare(and Waluigi because It's My House) Headcanons
Because I can't stop making it That Deep.
Yoshi's Island DS is canon, specifically the bit of the ending where Baby Wario never actually gets delivered to his parents because he was more interested in stealing Baby Bowser's treasure. Due to that, he grew up in an orphanage after somebody found him on his raft full of gold.
Never actually got adopted because people can be shits and didn't want the weird-looking greedy superpowered fat kid who ate garlic like it was candy, but he's not particularly fussed about it. As far as he's concerned he had a great childhood.
That said it did result in him knowing a lot of other orphans who were significantly and understandably less content with their situations, which is why he's seemingly so drawn to kids with complicated home lives.
He's known Jimmy, 5-Volt and Waluigi (Walter at the time, he picked up "Waluigi" later in life) since they were kids. He met Jimmy their very first day of Kindergarten and never looked back, met Walter in third grade by protecting him from some bullies, and that same summer hired 5-Volt to help him and the guys with their lemonade stand, because He Has Always Been Like This.
Walter had an older sister named Gloria who was just as into science as their dad, and who often ended up supervising/getting dragged into him and his friends' antics
No idea who their mom might've been. Honestly given what Crygor's like he could have made them in his lab a 'la the Membrane family and I wouldn't be surprised.
Waluigi's actually just as ridiculously super-smart as the rest of his family, he just isn't interested in science at all. This, along with several other issues, drove a wedge between him and Crygor early on that slowly got worse as he grew up. He actually moved out and cut off most forms of communication as soon as he graduated high school because they could barely handle being in the same room without arguing by that point.
They didn't talk to each-other at all for a few years after that, until the horrible day they both got calls informing them Gloria and her husband had been in a car accident.
Baby Penny ended up staying with Crygor partly due to Walter's living situation not being entirely stable at the time, and they decided to at least try to relearn how to be around each-other so they could both be part of Penny's life (and because the whole thing had been a wake-up call for Crygor to how badly he'd messed up with Walter and he wanted at least some form of relationship with the kid he still had left)
Also, the Waluigi name and slightly exaggerated personality were mostly a Bit he did for shits and giggles at the first Mushroom Kingdom Tennis Tournament, but he ended up liking the nickname and the audience ate up the act, so he kept going with it afterwards. Crygor and Jimmy's parents are the only ones who still call him Walter in casual conversations anymore, which he doesn't mind since he still likes his real name even if he usually prefers Waluigi.
5-Volt's been dealing with her inexplicable demonic powers her whole life. Her parents have always been really worried about it and convinced it's some kind of horrible curse, meanwhile there's little 5-Volt happy as a clam because she's always got a Player Two.
The shadow thing is...sort-of her spirit but also sort-of its own entity? It's weird and she has trouble explaining it because this is just how it's always been for her.
Also, she does have some anger issues and violent tendencies that are made worse by the whole demonic transformation thing, but being friends with Wario for most of your life gives you a lot of practice at self-restraint
As she got older, she became more aware of how her parents felt about her abilities, their attempts to "cure" her of them, and how they seemed to grow more and more convinced that they were a danger to her and those around her.
This came to a head when they found out she was pregnant with 9-Volt and didn't react well, at which point she decided she was sick of them treating her like both an invalid and a monster and cut them out of her life.
Wario, the Crygors and the Thangs were actually there with her and her husband(who I need to come up with at some point) when 9-Volt was born, which I feel has to have been one of the wildest ways for Wario to meet one of his future employees.
No notes on Jimmy's childhood. We have met his parents and they're freaking awesome.
Since he obviously doesn't remember the events of Yoshi's Island DS since he was a literal baby at the time, the first time Wario met Mario actually was Super Mario Land 2, though he's obviously heard of the guy beforehand. After that and a few other encounters he ended up invited to a Kart racing tournament and that was that.
The first time he met Ashley and Red was during an adventure in his "living in a castle in the woods" era. They were going after the same cursed artifact (Ashley to keep it out of the wrong hands and Wario because in his words "Cursed treasure's the best kind! nothing like a little danger to get the blood pumping"). They probably would've ended that adventure as rivals or even enemies, but the artifact turned out to be a "sentient and wants to kill you with lasers" kind of cursed and Wario took a nasty hit for her and smashed the thing.
At some point he decided that living alone in a huge castle full of treasure with only a pet chicken for company sucked, actually, and packed up to move back to his old hometown, Diamond City.
That's actually how he met Dribble and Spitz. He'd taken a Warp Pipe to the city instead of his car or bike when he was looking at houses for sale because he'd forgotten how big the place was, so after spending half the day pounding pavement with no luck he hailed a cab and got theirs. He wasn't having any more luck than before thanks to his high standards(because his previous house was a freaking castle, sue him) and comically small budget (Wario is Wario, after all), but the company was good and there was far less walking so he was far less miserable than before.
He did end up picking a house that day...because the cab broke down in front of a miserable little abandoned shack on a hill at the edge of town and he basically went "Fuck it! I guess I live here now!"
Mona knew about Wario and was his biggest fan before she met him, seeing as even back than he was sort of a celebrity, but they didn't actually meet until a few weeks after he moved into town, when he and Orbulon, both disheveled and covered in soot and scorch marks from a first encounter they have never and will never elaborate on, walked into the Gelateria and placed the two worst ice-cream orders known to man, which I will not actually come up with for the sake of our stomachs. She was the only one in the room not horrified or even phased by these proceedings, and the three have been friends ever since.
He met Kat and Ana through 9-Volt, who became friends with them during recess their first day of school.
Most of the crew that he met after Mega Microgame$ were just introduced to him through his other friends(or we've outright seen it happen like with Lulu), but Young Cricket and Master Mantis he actually met while helping Mario with one of his own off-screen adventures.
Wario's actually pretty rich thanks to his treasure hunting, his fame, and the fact that he literally owns a Gold Mine and a Ski Resort! All the references to him allegedly being broke all the time are mostly just part of the skits for the games, like the ones for everyone else's levels. That said, his house really is as messed up as it looks, but that's just because he's stingy and a slob.
18-Volt really is the same age as 9-Volt. His unusual size is partially because he's originally from New Donk City.
Wario does, in fact, still have his pet chicken. I have not thought of a name for her
(Edit: I have been informed by @plushietoon that the chicken is canonically named Hen. Which is adorable and hilariously on-brand for Wario)

Fuck it.
Random Yugioh GX headcanon dump!
I've posted about some of these at various points in the past in more detail but yknow 😌
All in no particular order of course, just the order they pop put of my brain lol
Syrus is actually really smart, but school is hard for him because of anxiety
Alexis is the spitting image of her and Atticus's mom
Jesse's favorite song of all time is Our Song by Taylor Swift
They're all varying degrees of Swiftie
Crowler's favorite show is The Golden Girls
Jaden will accidentally burn down the kitchen if they let him try to cook anything
Syrus, Alexis, Atticus, and Zane all knew each other pre-series. Or at the very least knew of each other since Atticus and Zane were already friends.
Syrus is afraid of storms but actually really likes gentle rain
Bastion was always insecure about his skills and needed and craved validation and recognition from others
Chazz has a hard time expressing and understanding emotions and distinguishing different kinds of love and care because his family is so emotionally distant with each other
Chazz and Alexis are platonic soulmates he's just confused by the platonic part. They love each other but are not in love with each other.
On that note, when Chazz is able to finally move on from Alexis, they develope and almost brother/sister relationship
Alexis suffers from separation anxiety and paranoia after Atticus returns because she's so scared of him getting hurt or being taken away from her again
Jaden is so protective of his friends because he didn't have any as a kid after the whole Yubel debacle even though doesn't remember Yubel for a while so he desperately wants to keep the ones he has now at any cost and keep them from getting hurt because people have been hurt because of him Yubel in the past and doesn't want to go through that whole rigamarole again. Also because he just loves his friends, but that's a given.
Syrus has a scar from being bit by the duplicate Camula in episode 32
Chazz has scars from being abused by his brothers. Only Atticus has ever actually seen them.
Hassleberry has chronic pain because of his dinosaur leg that he hides so the others won't worry about him
The J-Squad never told Hassleberry about a lot of stuff that went down in season 1
Atticus is uncomfortable in the dark and has trouble sleeping when he returns so he sleeps with at least one light on every night
Atticus's positive and silly personality and quirks and eccentricities are all genuine and authentic, but they've also become a coping mechanism for his trauma after his return
Hassleberry is a massive Dolly Parton fan
Hassleberry's seen every movie Dolly is in. Steel Magnolias makes him cry every time.
Syrus doodles on stuff in class and like on his notes and homework and stuff. It's something he does to help him focus and think
Bastion actually really likes classic movie musicals. His favorite musical is My Fair Lady
Chazz says that he has a dog at home in the dub, but it's the family dog. He's more of a cat person.
Atticus, Chazz, and Alexis are a Sun, Moon, Star trio respectively.
Hassleberry and Chazz are the biggest hopless romantics, actually
Both Crowler and Alexis's favorite movie is Titanic
Atticus can play any and all stringed instruments. If it has strings, he can play it. But his best instrument is the guitar.
Atticus hosts weekly campfire jam sessions for the J-Squad down at the beach. He pulls out an acoustic and just plays songs for them to sing and have fun together
On that note, every single one of them can sing. All of those kids have vocals for days.
Chazz and Atticus have sleepovers dates every Saturday night where they get together and watch movies. Atticus usually picks and makes Chazz watch musicals and romcoms and chick flicks.
Chazz actually enjoys musicals, especially watching them with Atticus. Hence his quoting Bye Bye Birdie during his duel with Adrian.
Atticus's favorite movie is Singin' In The Rain
Atticus does a lot of dumb shit in attempts to impress Chazz or otherwise get his attention
Syrus takes more after his and Zane's mom, while Zane takes more after their dad. Hence her saying Sy's the one who got the looks 😌
Jaden doesn't even know what sexuality means let alone what his is. His sexuality is Jesse.
Jaden's mom is a pianist
Chazz's family is all sooo much older than his is. For example, his brothers are at minimum ten years older than he is.
The worst familial relationship Chazz has is with his brothers. He's his mom's favorite, and he just doesn't really have a relationship with his dad at all. Cold, distant rich old businessman dad y’know?
Chazz wasn't necessarily an accident, but I don't think they planned on having another kid so long after the first 2 either.
Chazz's brothers manipulate their parents' perception of them and their relationship with Chazz so they don't know how bad things actually are with the three of them
Jaden thinks it's really silly and fun that his and Chazz's birthdays are the bookends of the month of August since they're rivals and stuff
Chazz has naturally cold hands
One time after graduation the kids got Crowler a father's day gift kind of as a joke. But it made him so happy they get him a group gift every year. They got him a world's best dad mug
Everyone crashed the next year's graduation so they could see Hassleberry graduate number 1 in his class 🥺
That's all for now!

Them reacting to their s/o pranking them
Tumblr media
@needy-self-ship-jjba
What if you, their s/o, loved praking people? So, of course, your daily target was no-other than your boyfriend! Most of the times, they were silly things like putting too much salt or drawing things on his face. But, this time you decided to test how far was he willing to go for you with one of your silly little pranks.
Featuring: Jotaro (part 3), Kakyoin and Josuke
GN reader.
A/N: Omg, yes. I love this idea, thanks for requesting and I hope you'll like it! Also here is to the dumbest person alive who accidentally posted half of the headcanon before it was done 😭
Tumblr media
Jotaro Kujo
Jotaro, a girl said she wants to beat me up and that she will bring her boyfriend too.
Jotaro loved you very much, even if he wasn't someone who could show his feelings. He saw you as the best thing in this world, in his world and would do anything to make you happy or to make sure you were safe;
So, when he heard those words come from your beautiful lips and the scared looked you had plastered over your usually happy face, he immediately went into his protective mode;
"Who?" was the only word that left his throat. His voice remained calm but you could see the glint of fury in his eyes. Maybe it wasn't a good idea...Pfft, who were you kidding, you loved to see Jotaro get protective over you;
"One of the girls that follow you every day, I don't know her name! She told me yesterday and I'm kind of scared..." you said, continuing your act of scaredy-cat;
"Describe her." Perfect! You started to describe a girl that didn't exist, well, at least in the group that follows Jotaro around every day;
"Are you lying to me? You just described a person that doesn't exist." the black-haired boy suddenly asked, raising a brow. You knew he was observant, but you didn't think he would pay too much attention to them! You panicked and bit your lip, putting up an innocent act;
"Mmm, I wouldn't exactly call it lying. Take it as a test?" you answered raising your shoulders and he groaned annoyed. That was your way to name pranks;
"You seriously pranked me over this? You are truly the stupidest human I have ever met. What if I believed you and went and beat the shit out of someone innocent?" he lectured you and you giggled;
"That sounds like a them problem. Oh, come on, don't be maaad." you whined and pout made its way onto your face, crashing into his arms;
"Good grief, I have no clue why I'm still with you, I should throw you into a trash bin."
Tumblr media
Noriaki Kakyoin
Nori, (girl name) said she was going to beat me up! And bring her boyfriend too!
You and your boyfriend were heading to school and a thought popped up in your head. What if you pulled (another) prank on him, but also a test? It would be fun to see what he was going to do if he heard you could be in danger!
So, while you two were walking, you softly pulled down on his uniform's sleeve, directing his attention to you. You announced your 'problem', putting on a scared face to make it believable;
Kakyoin paused in the middle of the road when he heard your words and turned his head to you, raising a brow;
At first, he didn't know how to react. What did you want him to do? He was never the one to get into fights, always being the quite type. But, for you and your safety, he would do anything to protect you. You were his world;
You blinked at him, perplexed by his reaction. He seemed...confused? Why was he confused?! You just told him that you were threatened and he was confused?
"Hm...That's not a usual reaction but, since you feel unsafe, I will spend more time with you. If they try to attack us, I'll counter with Hierophant Green. Did something happen between you two?" he asked and took your hand in his. His way of comforting you;
You let a small smile cover your features and he seemed even more confused. Why were you smiling? Weren't you afraid only two seconds ago? Or was this...
"Is this one of your silly pranks?" he sighed, a little annoyed by your choice to prank him on a subject like this. To your luck, he wasn't someone violent;
"Oh, maybeeee. Doesn't matter anymore, you know I love youuu." you giggled and wrapped your arms around his. Another sigh escaped past his lips and he shook his head;
"You're lucky I love you."
Tumblr media
Josuke Higashikata
Josukeeee, one of the girls in our English class told me she was going to beat me up! And bring her boyfriend too!
You said and didn't get any reaction. Was he ignoring you? Was he really that mad over your last prank?
"Josuke! This is serious!" you whined at your boyfriend and he rolled his eyes, playing his video game. "Okuyasu, bring me a glass of water!" he yelled at the boy who just went to the kitchen;
"Fuck off, you have legs!" his friend yelled back at him and you sighed. You started shaking Josuke, punching him in the back, much like his mom did when she was upset with him playing too much;
"This is serioussss, I'm scared! What if they will beat me up?" you cried out and he rolled his eyes. You weren't surprised if he didn't believe you, you pranked him like that twice and he ended up in detention each time for beating random, innocent people up.
"Shut up, I'm not falling for this again! If somebody actually beats you up, I'll take care of them, but unless that happens, leave me alone!" Josuke said and rolled his eyes, pushing you off him. You giggled and threw yourself on him, giving him a peck;
"Are you really that mad at the fact that I stole and painted your favorite hoodie with 'Y/N's bitch'?" you giggled and he groaned annoyed, but didn't push you off him;
"Y'know, I really hate you and your stupid pranks sometimes"

Stones 🪷
For @hinnymicrofic and @ginnyw-potter - your peer pressure worked! Sorry it's not fluffy though, I promise a fluffy one for you soon 🥰
Read below the cut or on Ao3
A missing moment from my WIP, The In-Between's (6th Year) - Honesty Shots
Ginny followed closely behind Harry as they exited the backdoor of the Burrow.
He walked as far away from the house as possible, headed for the low stone bridge they knew to be the boundary of the Burrow’s protective enchantments.
When they got there, Ginny sat on the low stone wall that flanked her parents’ driveway. It was all poorly maintained now as there was rarely a reason to come over here after the Ford Anglia went wild.
“Did you know?” Harry asked, turning towards her. “That Hermione hasn’t told her parents anything?”
“No,” Ginny said, shaking her head.
No wonder Hermione had been so nervous to bring her parents to the Burrow. Ginny figured it was just because of her feelings for Ron.
If Hermione had only told her, Ginny might’ve been able to help change the subject back in the kitchen. Even if the Grangers really should’ve known, Ginny was well coached in the honorable duty of covering for one’s siblings.
“Why do you think…?” Harry asked.
“This may come as a shock to you, Harry,” Ginny said, she wasn’t about to lie to him. “But you lot have been involved in some dangerous shit.”
Harry breathed out in a kind of acknowledgement before shoving his hands into his pockets. He began to lightly kick at the base stones of the wall.
“They all seemed to be getting along before that, though,” Ginny added, trying to lift his mood. “Could’ve sworn they were about to discuss wedding dates.”
Harry said nothing. He continued to scrape at the padding of grimy moss with the point of his shoe.
Before thinking twice about the ramifications of the statement, she chanced saying, “They seemed confused that you’d never been to one of them before, a - a tooth Healer.”
“Dentist,” Harry said, kicking the rock over. “Yeah, usually that’s the sort of thing Muggle parents take their kids to.”
Ginny thought back to her Muggle Studies class in second year when they’d learned about different types of Muggle health services. It’d been during her second year, when all she could think about at the time were sharp fangs jutting out of a monstrous snake head.
“Are they the ones that put tiny spears in your mouth?”
Harry nodded.
“Sounds like you got lucky then,” she said.
Harry made a face and Ginny wondered if she’d gone too far. Maybe she should’ve just kept her mouth shut.
“Yeah, maybe you’re right,” Harry said eventually, still kicking the ground. “Sometimes they even pull your teeth out.”
“That’s a profession?” Ginny asked, encouraged that he had at least responded. “Why not just give people Hagrid’s rock cakes?”
He finally gave her a small smile, which made her glad she’d said it.
Harry reached down to pick up a handful of stones. Taking one in his right hand, he tossed it up and down a few times before taking a step back and chucking it down the driveway. It sailed several meters before coming in contact with the invisible shield, evaporating with a sizzle.
“Do you ever think about what things would be like if Tom Riddle never existed?”
“All the time,” she said.
Harry looked at her for a long moment, no doubt recalling their conversation from when he came to sit with her in Myrtle’s bathroom. They’d both had yet to acknowledge their talk there since then.
“Your parents wouldn’t need these protective charms,” he said, turning away and throwing another stone. “I’d have grown up in Godric’s Hollow… Maybe it’d be my parents in there too.”
Harry bent down to pick up several more. He seemed frustrated more than angry, like Ginny remembered feeling after taking one too many hexes from the twins in D.A. practice.
Before now, she never would’ve pegged Harry as someone who preoccupied his time with what if’s and could have been’s. He always seemed so stoic and focused on what was directly ahead.
She supposed he had to be like that, Tom made sure of it.
Harry threw several more rocks, each throw with a little less effort. She watched them lob and disappear with a satisfying hiss.
Ginny shifted on the stone wall to get more comfortable and said into the silence, “But still no dentists.”
“Yeah,” Harry laughed, letting the rocks fall. He walked over to lean against the wall close beside her. “Still no dentists.”
“You don’t need one anyway. You should keep all your teeth, I think they’re nice,” she said, and her face burned.
“Thanks,” he said, looking down at his feet.
“Give me one of those, will you?” She said, indicating a one of the rocks he’d dropped. When he did so, she clambered up on the unsteady wall and turned in the direction of the pond which lay just a few paces from the Granger’s Volvo.
She and her brothers used to play a game where they aimed for the lily pads in the pond. When Harry stood up beside her, she told him the scoring system, and they spent the next twenty minutes plonking stones in the pond.
One poor throw slipped from Ginny’s hand, ricocheted off the stone wall, and hit the side of the Granger’s car just above the tire.
“Oh shit,” Ginny laughed and hopped down from the rock wall in a mild panic, pulling Harry down into a duck behind it as they heard raised voices coming from the Burrow’s kitchen. The next moment, Mr. and Mrs. Granger were marching toward their car, Hermione at their heels.
Harry and Ginny listened to the confrontation between Hermione and her parents. When the car revved to life, they hurried out of the driveway, heading instead for the garden.
It wasn’t until Ron came by about a half hour later that Harry said anything again. But until then, Ginny stayed with Harry as they paced the garden rows of bright green leaves bursting to life, and a patch of purple flowers that were waiting for their chance to reach full bloom.

WHY I THINK WILLIAM AFTON WASN'T A GOOD FATHER TO HIS KIDS (based on games)
I often see people claiming William was caring father to his children because he didn't intent to directly murder them. Or that he went crazy after CC died and because of grief he started "taking away" other people's children which I don't think makes sense since during fnaf 4 there's already rumors about haunted robots and CC is still alive. One could argue that then Elizabeth is already dead but it doesn't make sense even more since that means he build a murderous animatronics before he would even have a reason to "grief". He was just a psycho who while not keen on purposefully killing his own children also not caring about them too much.
If we belive Fredbear plush isn't haunted and is William talking to CC through a walkie-talkie then that's already pretty weird since the plush was kind of hostile towards everything and was usually talking "badly" about Micheal rightfully so but if it's William then why wouldn't he just try to make Mike stop if he cared about his younger son? And if we belive Fredbear plush is haunted and isn't William then still the fnaf 4 bedroom and "observation" was a thing and even though I belive both brothers were in there at least once it's still fucked up and nowhere in games is it called protection but just an observation (what kind of observation and for what?). William didn't care about CC's well being and him literally always crying.
Now let's look at his relationship with Elizabeth. He did make an anomatronic that was supposedly "just for her" (we know it's BS but he wouldn't tell his daughter she was made for child murder lol) and did tell her to not get near her so he did care about her to some extend, right? Yes but no. He didn't want her to be killed but once she eventually died and he noticed she possessed Circus Baby he didn't give a shit about her as a person. He then saw her as something he can experiment on. He did some experiments on her remnant. Most likely put some in the scooper. Perhaps other Funtime animatronics. Took some of her remnant away from her current body basically tearing her soul apart. And then as we know Circus Baby's pizza world was closed for a long time. There's no care for his daughter. The most he did was he sent Michael there after some years to "put her back together" and not even go himself. And speaking of Michael...
Michael was basically allowed to bully his brother, yes. But that doesn't mean William loved him. As I said earlier I think both brothers were tied to the fnaf 4 bedroom and because Michael has nightmares about that place he had to be there. Just further proving that William didn't care about his kids' feelings. If the "observation" was also some kind of experiment then there's no place for care. Then later in life when Michael was most likely and adult and the only living Afton child his father sent him to "save" Elizabeth (???). There's no way William wouldn't know that there's a huge possibility Mike would die. As long as he wasn't in danger himself. Eventually Mike gets Scooped and dies (kind of) and William is most likely already "missing" (as if springlocked) because Mike can't seem to find him and says that "he's going to find him".
I don't have much to say about them in fnaf 3 since springtrap doesn't talk there even if we think Mike is the night guard here but in FFPS he still doesn't seem to care. Not about Mike. Not about Liz since she still feels the need to "prove herself" to him.
Also I feel the need to address it that it's not an attack on people who make headcanons and AUs where William is a good dad. You do you. It's just my interpretation of how I think canon William would be like with his kids
TLDR; William was a narcissistic who didn't necessarily want to kill his own kids but didn't really care if something bad happened to them and would "sacrifice" if it meant something to gain for him.

Yakuza and coping mechanisms
Tumblr media
Yakuza has been my on and off hyperfocus for years now but also in particular the past month, so let's talk about it. And particularly, how many friggin coping mechanisms are in this game.
Disclaimer: I do literary analysis, not psycho analysis, don't come for me.
For all its silliness about fighting roomba's and disco minigames, the world that the Yakuza games is set in, is fucking brutal. They are, at their very core, crime drama's. People get murdered a lot, lives are ruined in various ways, a good third of protags spend large amounts of time in jail, usually for a crime they didn't commit. Most politicians and police are corrupt, racism is blatant and if you don't have a place in the very strict hierarchy of society, it's hard to get back on your feet (hence all the crime). I tend to read a lot of indictments of Japanese society in these games, partly because they are so clearly based on old school yakuza crime drama's.
This means that the characters go through some shit. And what's fascinating, is how they deal with this.
Spoiler warning for, uhh, almost all yakuza games except Song Of Life (since i never played that)
Pretending it's not real
Kasuga Ichiban
The direct reason I'm even making this blog post because he's the most blatant about it. Kasuga is Peak Himbo in that he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he manages to take being beaten down Repeatedly and overcomes that with a sense of genuine good nature and optimism that is… honestly kind of hard to believe. The way he deals with any of this, is that he's a nerd who pretends to be in a video game. It's the whole premise of Yakuza Like a Dragon.
And to be fair, Kasuga suffers from an amount of mistreatment that makes me Very Angry in his stead. He has every right to be upset! He is literally homeless in the beginning of the game. If he requires the escapism of going around pretending to be in a jrpg to survive, more power to him. Especially since it works. Dude goes around helping people and making friends. Which is a good thing, because there's no way he'd make it out of Yokohama alive if he didn't have some back-up.
Side note: something similar happens to at the very least Majima, i think, in the admittedly non-canonical events of Yakuza Dead Souls. (yes i played it solely for Majima, no i do not recommend it, the game is garbage and you get more Majima in Zero anyway). In Dead Souls, Kamurocho is overrun by zombies. As a lover of all things Horror, Majima decides he may as well have a good time mowing them down like he's in an FPS while he trudges through the wreckage of society.
Tumblr media
Self sacrifice
Mostly Kazuma Kiryu and  Saejima Taiga
If you hate yourself, at least try to be of use to someone. Let's be honest, a lot of the plot of Yakuza games is driven by self sacrifice or at least following some code of honor to its ludicrous ends.
Kiryu is the main example here. The game kinda glosses over this a lot, but he is, at least in Zero, a criminal. He goes around extorting money from businesses. He consistently solves problems through violence. It's kinda the point of the games. But he's also borderline a saint and 80% of the shit he gets into is because of his need to throw himself to the wolves for any person he cares about. He voluntarily does hard time for Nishikiyama, for one. He picks up a stray kid that he will now protect with his life. And it just goes on from there. See, Kiryu may be the famous Dragon of Dojima and the Fifth Chairman of the Tojo Clan and all that, but he would very much prefer not to be? Dude wants to live a quiet life and raise some kids, it's just that he's the protag of a game series about how hard it is to say goodbye to the yakuza life. So the plot keeps finding ways to bring him back, usually as a reluctant warrior to save the Tojo clan or Haruka  or whatever. If he was a little less honorable, he could still be chilling as a taxi driver with an unreasonably hot girlfriend, I'm just saying.
Saejima is very similar, but somehow even worse? Much as I love the guy, he's an idiot. He suffers from the same loyalty and selflessness as Kiryu, but he doesn't even get a cute daughter out of it. He spends Twenty Five years in prison for a crime he (we later find out) didn't commit. He escapes months before his parole to solve the convoluted plot of Y4. Then Goes Back to Jail to atone for (again) a crime he only thought he'd committed, only to escape (again) when he thinks Majima, his sworn brother, got murdered in Y5. As far as i can tell he goes back to jail one last time to finish his actual sentence, and to like, protect the name of the Tojo clan or some shit. My dude. My friend. Come on.
As a side note, acts of selflessness are kind of a big deal in the Yakuza games and one of the main ways to tell if someone is a good criminal or a villain. Kasuga and his crew are pretty big on the whole 'acts of selfless kindness' thing. It also seems to be one of the traits of Daigo Dojima, whose whole being screams 'I don't want to be here but who else is gonna fucking do it'. But in the case of Kiryu and Saejima it's very much verging on reckless self-endangerment.
Tumblr media
Fabricated identities
Majima Goro, baby!
The Yakuza games really love this one, but I'll start with the big guy, everyone's favourite character: Majima. This dude has seen some shit. We see him throughout several flashbacks and the span of the games, but most tellingly we see him in Zero, at his rock bottom hero stage. And he's intriguingly unlike the other times he shows up. This is a Majima that's recovering from torture and backstabbing, and forced to do some dude's bidding for scraps. He's a chained dog (pun very much intended) and he's about to lose it.
What's fun about Majima is that he has So Many of the traits in this list. He has a lot of the reckless endangerment and self sacrifice that his buddies Kiryu and Saejima have. He gave himself up a few times for Haruka, he keeps trundling back to save Tojo and Dojima, but there's also a whole other layer of … Flamboyance to him.
And while Majima probably started out as comic relief, the games make clear that it's not all he is, and we get several glimpses of 'old Majima' throughout the series. He'll be in the middle of a self inflicted fight and drop some wisdom, for instance. He acts erratically, he is blunt, violent, exuberant in his dressing up. When given a task his first thought seems to be 'how can i make this Extra', but that doesn't mean the guy is unstable. You don't become a successful businessman with a building company, or a patriarch of your own family, without being smart and strategic. A lot of classic Majima behaviour, i feel, is a case of a mask he constructed to hide the severe depression, that became more of a second nature to him. Majima is one of the clearest examples of 'do what you need to do'. He's a survivor, through and through. Somewhere in there is a decent human being, but Majima will kill people to survive in a harsh world. It just seems like he constructed an extra layer to shield himself from all that.
Joon-gi Han (Like a Dragon): This is more a case of stolen (inherited??) identity, but again, if you don't want to be you, just be someone else. In this case someone he admires. Again: super tragic backstory, questionable life choices. As an aside, Joon-gi is fun because he is both a deadly assassin with someone else's name and face, but also  a Knight stereotype who would do everything for his queen and I think that's neat.
Zhao Tianyou (Like a Dragon): Somewhat more subtle, but Zhao is also a dude that was at one point confronted with a Situation, namely 'oh shit my dad died and now I'm in charge of a violent gang'. And to deal with that he decided to construct a persona that gives exactly zero fucks. He is very joking and very avoidant but we do learn that a fair amount of his laid back attitude is just veneer. Dude in fact gives several fucks. You don't decide to give up the throne and become a homeless sidekick to Himbo Supreme because you don't care. You do it to stop him from getting ultra-murdered by the parade of heavily armored gangsters he keeps storming into.
Akiyama Shun (Yakuza 4-5): I debated putting him here, because part of me believes Akiyama is just kind of a dick. A dick I love as a character, but still, ya know. At least some of the dickish persona is a front, though. Akiyama is another one that just saw his life's work destroyed at some point, and decided that emotional detachment was the way to go. Akiyama is different because he was never actually a proper criminal. He was homeless for a bit, and then came into some money (through Extremely Convoluted Plot Means) and now he's a moneylender. And like Zhao, he mostly pretends to be completely devoid of feelings, while having a fair amount of feelings. Enough to get into like… fist fights. With actual gangsters. Who have guns.
Tumblr media
Vice
Sex, drugs and everything in between
The preferred way for noir drama's to show someone is Going Through It, is by giving them a classic addiction and Yakuza isn't any different. It's why several characters are shown mournfully smoking, in particular Kiryu and Majima. Yes I know it's because it looks cool and harks back to old crime movie atmosphere. That doesn't make it a healthy coping mechanism.
Another obvious one, considering the setting of the games in several red lights districts, is erotica. Both Adachi, the ex-cop from Like a Dragon and Shinada, the ex-baseball player from Y5 and also my least fave protag ever, are both in various stages of obsession about porn, sex work and the likes.
Tanimura, the cop from Y4 has a pretty severe gambling problem in the actual canon, though gambling games and casino's are a general mainstay of the Yakuza series. It's just that when Kiryu interrupts his busy day of solving the convoluted intrigue du jour to gamble in an illegal underground casino, it's not a character flaw.
Also: almost everyone drinks ludicrous amounts of heavy alcohol in these games. Both in canon and as part of the gameplay. 100% ing the games usually involves drinking tons of whiskey, but the whole Ichiban crew, sans I think Eri, is shown drowning their troubles at various times.
Violence: I mean, that's kind of the game, but an unhealthy amount of characters consider fist fights to be a good way to resolve conflict, bond with people and generally reinvigorate themselves. Particularly Majima is shown to get a real kick out of doing damage and being beaten up. There's just a lot of reckless behaviour, which is what makes the games good.
Karaoke: fake it till you make it, man.
Extra note:
You'll notice there's no women on this list, and that's because honestly the game is kinda sexist. So while there's already Very Few women in the game, the ones that are present don't exactly have super complex characters.
Mukoda Saeko, the hostess from Like a Dragon, drinks like a fish but that's about her main flaw.
Other notable female characters are Kiryu's kid Haruka, Kiryu's love interest Sawamura Yumi (Kiwami) and Kamataki Eri, the business lady from Like a Dragon. They're all stereotypical Good Girls who have no flaws apart from indecisiveness and an unhealthy tendency for selflessness.
Saejima Yasuko is ever so slightly more complex: her main trait is self sacrifice. The story promptly fridges her for it.

Randomly remembering when the pandemic was reaching its peak and pretty much every shipping service was so overwhelmed that they marked 90% of your packages undeliverable because "you weren't home". Of course the gag is that you WERE home, all the time, and that was the exact reason for the shipping congestion. I always wished that they would at least come up with a different excuse, however vague, almost anything would have made me less angry than the one explanation that was patently dishonest and an accusation against me personally. It would have been better if you got "due to the high volume of calls" type of messaging, but I guess they didn't want to invite the idea that their service was unreliable, so somehow it was better to blame masses of customers for something we all knew for a fact was definitely false.
But like on that exact note, I'm very allergic and being inside our moldy apartment 24/7 was driving me nuts. I got a Molecule air filter, which runs on a subscription plan, and then I just could not get my replacement filters delivered. (I feel like an idiot getting something that only takes these proprietary subscription filters and not something where I could just go to the hardware store and get a general type of thing, but I was doing what I thought I had to at the time) FedEx just would not give me my shit and wouldn't give me any options to go pick the thing up somewhere, it was either "you weren't home" or "we delivered it to you, what's your problem?" Eventually I complained to Molecule and they were so protective of FedEx I couldn't believe it. Every time I explained the situation the customer service guy would write back "We understand that you weren't home so FedEx was unable to deliver your shipment." And then I'd explain it in even MORE DETAIL and they'd say "Yes, we realize that because you were not home to receive your shipment, you now need to order another filter." And then I'd be even MORE SPECIFIC and I'd start to get REALLY PISSED OFF which I try not to do with any kind of service person, and the guy kept very specifically reinforcing FedEx's lie about me, and eventually they go "Since you didn't receive your shipment because you weren't home, we will send you an extra filter for free this time." I wish I remembered the exact wording because it was even more insulting than that, like they were doing me this huge favor even though it was all my personal fault. I didn't expect them to say "Yeah that was fucked up of FedEx, fuck those assholes" but I thought they'd be at least a little more, I dunno, vague or neutral about general non-delivery. Instead it was like I was talking to FedEx's mom, like FedEx punched another third grader in the face and ripped off his lunch and the mom is explaining to me how outgoing and enterprising little FedEx is and it's really the fault of the other kid for being a weakling and having such a delicious lunch. Usually customer service people get some kind of script that they can't deviate from so I had to think this guy wasn't winging it, this is what Molecule told them to say whenever this probably-extremely-common problem came up. But man, every time I think of that company for any reason, that's the first thing I remember. I would tell them that, but they'd probably be like "We understand that your opinion of our company was damaged because your bad behavior prevented FedEx from generously delivering the shipment that you didn't deserve."

There’s also other consequences, such as the effect this will have on all Wilbur’s relationships. Like Tomys and his share trauma now, that will make them closer. Every one at the palace does not, those relationships could strain because they won’t understand what the boys went through. Phil could get softer or more dotting. Or he would stay the same. It’s a hard to say. And then there’s of course the chance the Wilbur’s paranoia will skyrocket because someone tried to kill Tomys (protectiveness unlocked).
And he knows Quackity warned him. He knew he would be there and he warned him, yet the bandits came anyway. Or if it turns out to be someone else, when this grand conspiracy gets revealed, who will Wilbur trust? Who can he trust?
Side note: [“Shit! Was the kid in there?!”] Tomys definitely heard that.
Anyway, when the bandits come to check if they are dead, we get to see Wilbur’s quick thinking in action. He knows to play dead, he knows they need to look dead and he knows he looks more injured than Tomys. So he throws himself over the boy to hide his lack of injuries and tells him to play dead. And Tomys does, because you don’t question people in life or death situations. (Actually he does squabble a bit, but the remind of their highly possible imminent death is enough to get rid of his defiant nature.)
[“I thought Jareth was an idiot for trying to cut the horses loose from the carriage, but it seems like it did the job for us.”] Not Jareth! This reference caught me off guard.
Also, we know Tomys is the gentle kind from his love for flowers and such, but it’s shown again when he checks Wilbur’s broken leg. (And it’s kinda the first time he’s been gentle with Wilbur given the usual banter and cursing).
So the moral of this chapter is: nothing says brotherly bonding like laying in a pool of someone else’s blood together and pretending to be dead only to end up stranded in the wilderness at night with a broken leg.
(2/2)
-🌲
oh yeah there's definitely going to be a change in crimeboys dynamic after this, and in turn a change in the rest of wilbur's relationships. this whole thing is incredibly traumatic, and tommy is the only one who also has gone through it. nothing is going to be the same between them after this.
someone betrayed them. wilbur is going to be very paranoid until they find out who it was for sure
not even in a do or die situation can tommy not argue with wilbur for at least a second 😭
idk if by reference you mean Jareth the Goblin King from Labyrinth but just to clarify that's not the reference I was trying to make lol. I was actually just using Jareth as a medieval sounding version of Jared aka "yeah I've met Jared (of course I've met Jared) the one who took you away from me-" love referencing that fictional asshole
(now if you did figure out by Jareth I meant YNB Jared congrats we are all way too obsessed with wilbur soot)
tommy might talk a big talk and pretend to be a shithead but he doesn't want to hurt wilbur. he actually can be gentle if he tries.
brotherly bonding exactly you get it!!

we can all blame @blvckwidow for this steddieXspn crossover
the year is 2008, sam and dean are investigating a vampire coven in a normal town in indiana.
steddie and ronance own a duplex together, they do this bc steve and robin are codependent like that, they even have a door on the insides that connect the homes and all four of them will walk in to the others homes whenever they want.
eddie is a famous but only in metal circles musician, steve is an elementary teacher, robin is an interpreter, and nancy is crime journalist.
nancy in her research has been seeing a lot of weird shit happening in their town, weird bodies with weird gnarly wounds on them. it rings alarm bells in her head screaming "demagorgon!" over and over again.
she approaches robin first, "something weird is happening, and i might be crazy bc el said the gates were 100% closed, i even called her to double check, but these bodies are not normal and my gut is telling me something is wrong."
robin immediately believes nancy, they read in the boys and make a game plan.
nancy says that everything seems localized to one area of the town, so they investigate together during the day on the weekend.
in their investigation they run into same and dean. who look at this group of 40-something year olds, with a nail studded bat, a sawed off shotgun, a... sword? and immediately assume theyre hunters.
the lady with the shotgun stands in front of the group, "who the hell are you?" the pretty one chokes up on the bat preparing to swing, taking a protective stance in front of the other two.
"hey hey hey hey hey hold up lady, we're on the same side we're hunters too! We're lookin for the vamps!"
"Vamps? as in vampires? as in undead creatures of the night who suck your blood?" the other woman starts babbling.
sam and dean are immediately confused. but blah blah blah more dialogue and exposition, long story short they end up at a dive bar to discuss whats happening in the town. (brief interlude of steve absolutely FREAKING OUT over the impala)
the fruity four immediately want to help kill the vamps, sam and dean are hesitant to let a bunch of rookies on the scene, but robin says something about this not being their first rodeo and nancy and steve are kind of scary so they relent.
the entire time, dean keeps looking at eddie, like he knows him, like he's trying to place him, it's not until they're all deep in the vampire nest that he sees eddie swing the sword recklessly that he realizes that that's eddie freaking munson but dean cant freak out about bc a vampire is on his ass.
it was probably the fastest that sam and dean ever dispatched of a vampire nest. no one was seriously hurt and all the vamps were dead.
the fruity four invite sam and dean over their house where they realize that its not steve&robin and eddie&nancy, but steve&eddie and robin&nancy
dean watches the couples a lot closer after that, something deep and buried is clawing its way out, thoughts of a trench coat and a gravelly voice flit through his mind.
eddie and steve give dean a knowing look, something that made him feel more seen than he has ever felt in all his years on this earth. he looks away from them, unable to cope with being bared open by virtual strangers.
the six of them chat, they offer sam and dean a room to sleep in, "the kids usually stay in those rooms, but they havent been buy in a while so it should be fine for you guys, we've got plenty of space, and better water pressure than whatever shitty motel your staying at"
from then on, steve and robin check in with the boys at least once a week, to make sure theyre doing okay. sam and dean always stop by if they're passing through the area, nancy creates a network for hunters, eventually opening her own bar (like the roadhouse)
when the apocalypse begins for real for real, the fruity four plus a tiny army of seemingly normal people show up to fight alongside sam and dean. including a woman who can move things with her mind, without demon blood.

OKAY SO-- Heather/Steve:
they’re not childhood friends bc that implies they hung out. they’re like childhood coworkers. Their parents are friends and they’re part of the same country club etc so they tend to end up at the same events and dinner parties their whole life. they either get shunted together because they’re “The Children” or naturally gravitate to each other as the only/2 of the few kids there. So like, they don’t necessarily really hang out unless in those kinds of need-based situations. they’re summer camp friends at best. (they’ve also probably gone to summer camp together sooo)
eventually when it comes to things like boring dinner parties they go out of a sense of duty to each other because they know if they dip the one one will be left alone to the wolves. they try to avoid everyone as much as possible and anytime some middle aged weirdo starts cracking jokes about them dating/allusions to them having sex/her looks/his prowess bc of her looks and the assumption they’re dating they’re both like “this is disgusting and also i want to die”
steve noticing unconsciously or not her getting meaner and meaner as she gets older and also how her dad gets shittier and more domineering and is like “huh. don’t like any of THAT”. tries to call her out on being a bitch sometimes but she just targets him instead and it reminds him why they don’t hang out really outside of country club and group stuff. so he just lets it be.
steve at a party after breaking up with nancy trying to act like he’s Totally Fine. even though he’s completely miserable. eventually he can’t take it and steps outside for a bit of fresh air so he can get his shit together in peace. maybe think of some excuses and head out. he’s made an appearance so he doesn’t have to stay right?
then heather comes out for some air too and his stomach drops and this dread comes over him. heather can smell blood in the water better than a shark and her idea of a  “joke” can usually just be a flat out attack. he can’t take that right now. he’s got nothing in him to protect himself from heather’s cruelty anymore. he wants to escape but doesn’t know how without making it obvious he’s fleeing her presence. so they just stand there, both leaning on the railing looking out into a darkened backyard.
and heather never says a mean thing to him. she’s almost kind even. for her at least. she’s not pitying or anything but she’s earnest in her condolences. she talks about him being worthwhile with such certainty that he can almost convince himself he believes it -- is shocked to say that he actually believes she believes it. and then it’s done and she’s gone and he’s alone again. somehow feeling more bereft but in a whole new way.
it makes him rethink everything. he can’t help it. like worrying a tooth. heather wasn’t nice-- it was just one of those facts. tommy and carol were always together, nancy was smart, jason was religious. but she wasn’t not not-nice was she? she’d proven she could be something else. and if she was so shitty why did they all still gravitate to her?
because she was charismatic, because she was magnetic. she was loud and opinionated and when she decided on something it happened. she was funny even if it was kinda mean sometimes. out of all of them she was the most authoritative, the one who seemed to have her shit together, who was going to go places. it made you want to try and live in her jet stream, ride her coattails. you just had to convince heather to do something for you or join your team and she’d power through and get it done, you barely had to do anything yourself. he wondered if she got tired of having them all drag her down like that. he knew how it felt to have everyone hanging on you and he wasn’t a tenth of her competency. people just liked him because he was rich and good looking. he couldn’t imagine how draining it had to be to actually have actual things people wanted out of you and not just a rep boost.
he thinks about how awkward she’d been. how stilted. like she didn’t know how to be genuine and wonders if that’s what her problem really is. that she just doesn’t know how to be around people normally. at school he’s been mostly sitting alone or with the team if it’s not too awkward with tommy there too. he doesn’t really have anyone anymore. he can’t go back to tommy and carol -- that bridge is burned and it’s too pathetic anyway -- and now he doesn’t have nancy so... yeah.
he didn’t realize how small his life really was.
so after the party he decides to give sitting with heather a whirl. it’s not like it’s totally insane. they have known each other since elementary school and it’s not like it’s the first time or anything. he figures she’ll give him some shit, make fun of him for trailing after her after getting one nice word out of her but then he’ll sit and that’ll be the end of it. only she never makes that joke/put down. she just makes the usual rib about him being mr popular with the good hair harrington like any other lunch. it’s the most magnanimous thing she’s ever done and it kind of makes him want to cry.
he’s never hung out with heather more in his entire life that he has in the months after his break up with nancy. it’s still kinda weird to think about but it’s really settling in to be his new normal. and he likes it. he’s noticed when they hang out it’s like she relaxes more, like their familiarity from years of being in the boring-adult-party trenches lets her instinctively put down some of her armor. when he sees her in the halls or with other friends she’s a full on bitch as usual. it’s nice to know he has a positive effect on someone. makes him feel less useless.
it’s heather who helps him with his applications and suggests he applies for vo-tech schools. who helps him feel like he’s not a failure for doing it and helps him work through the fall out of every rejection letter. she’s so sure and determined and confident something will work out for him and he clings to it. he’s turning into another person she’s carrying and he kinda hates it but he’s also just so thankful to have someone to lean on. someone who doesn’t move away when he tries. telling heather personal shit is dangerous, she’s likely to use it as ammo against you later-- but he does anyway. in fits and starts. she never does use it against him. she tells him even less about herself but he knows the jist anyway and he’s happy to get any details she’s willing to give to flesh it out.
even when he decides to get back out there and start dating again he determinedly does not consider asking out heather. he just wants one girl in his life -- one friendship -- that doesn’t get fucked up and isn’t with a literal child. it gets harder to not think about it when he starts working at scoops ahoy and robin keeps ribbing him about it. mainly using it as a method of ragging on him. saying his game’s so bad now he’s chickening out of even a pity date and shit like that. he hates it. regrets not just working at the pool again. sure billy’s there and he likes to keep their contact to a minimum but billy would be too busy hitting on girls to give a shit about tormenting him and heather would be there to have fun with like every other summer. and she seemed to be pretty good at keeping a leash on billy so it probably would’ve been okay in the long run. then he wouldn’t have a band geek putting ideas about him and heather in his head that he can’t get out.
heather comes in a lot too and holds court in a booth when she’s not working. it’s cool to have someone there who doesn’t make him feel like a loser. he bitches about the uniform to her once and she makes a crack about his ass looking good in the shorts and he thinks he might be actually going completely insane. he knows she’s just joking with him but somehow the concept that heather even acknowledges he has an ass make him feel like he’s in alternate dimension. the fact she thinks it’s worth a second look has him sitting in his car brain dead for a solid 20 minutes after work.
the thing is steve HAD asked her out before. years ago. like freshman year and she’d completely shot him down. so he just never did it again. figured she wasn’t interested. tried not to feel stung by it. he’d asked because they’d gone to the winter formal together in 5th grade and had fun. he’d thought in highschool that maybe-- you know? in the wreckage he’d just tried to tell himself he’d over thunk it. first dance and all. he’d been a kid and he was sappy. his sentimentality had made him see things that weren’t there.
but heather thinks he’s got a hot ass? the fuck? he’s obsessing and he knows it. it’s robin’s fault. he’d put this shit to bed when he was 14 and considered it over until she started putting it back in his head. he can’t just ask her out tho. he KNOWS she’ll say no and then the vibe will be weird and he’ll be friendless again. so he tries to play it cool. like he’s not slowly starting to seriously consider this and actively catalogue things that make her attractive and dateable. it’s kinda bullshit to be stuck in this place where he’s pining after his best friend but it’s where he is.
one time he’s hanging with her, chrissy and billy (and eddie since billy can’t seem to go anywhere without him)  and chrissy starts talking about how her and heather used to talk about him all the time in middle school and had “crushes” on him as like, a hobby because they figured that’s what girls did in middle school. but her amusement and voice die out as she realizes this isn’t something she was allowed to say. heather looks like she’s about to come over the table and fucking kill her. and she’s NEVER like that with chrissy. steve knows he should step in and try to defuse this but his brain is latching on to all the wrong things. in the end it’s billy and eddie who handle it while steve sits there trying to fucking comprehend what he just heard. billy drives heather home and steve drives chrissy. she’s apologizing profusely the whole time, so obviously upset about what she’s done. he spends the whole car ride consoling her, promises if she just gives heather some time she’ll cool down and thing’s will be okay again. chrissy looks at him like she knows he’s wrong but is trying not to make him feel bad about it.
when he’s home and laying in his bed he can’t focus on her distress though or how fucked their group is now from all this shit. he can only think about how he’d apparently been a huge part of heather’s life for years and never even known it.
heather ofc is not inclined to cool down at all and he knows she can keep this going for months if she really puts her back into it. so he decides to make up for fumbling it so bad when it went to shit and puts himself in the line of fire and try to get her to cool off a bit. she’s probably the tensest she’s ever been around him which makes sense. chrissy kind of publicly embarrassed her with something that involved him, in front of him. he’s not exactly a welcome reminder. but they’re friends, he’s confident he can sort this out.
he cannot sort this out. heather pretty much abandons everyone but billy as a friend. and viciously. scorched earth. he cries about it in his car more than once. he’s not proud of it.
it’s only after billy and heather almost die because of that monster in the mall that he starts to make progress with her. it’s probably telling and honestly kind of worrying that it takes this level of horror to get heather to open up even a little but he’s not a therapist so he’s not touching that with a 10ft pole. she’s totally alone in the world with her parents dead and no else can really help her recover since billy’s in the same boat. only billy has max and eddie. heather burnt every bridge she could find. but steve’s nothing if not a slow learner and thick skulled though so he’s going to pretend he never saw her light his and try again. he helps her get home from the hospital. just straight up moves in because she still needs a lot of care and help doing normal things. he’s never seen heather look ashamed before and he knows it’s not because of what that thing made her do. it’s because she feels like she shouldn’t need anyone there to look out for her.
she hasn’t put down the stuffed bunny chrissy gave her in the hospital for a second. he can’t get over how cute it is. it’s like she thinks if she puts it down chrissy will think she hates her again. he’s also now 1000000% sure he’s in love with her. got that wake up call when he thought he was going to see her be literally murdered right before his eyes right next to billy. he’s trying to act like a friend, like he’s not secretly in love with her but he knows it’s showing up in everything he does for her. he knows from the looks she’s given him that she’s spotting it too. she doesn’t say anything though. but he thinks he knows why now. remembers how awkward she was trying to console him months ago. sees how gentle she is with chrissy’s gift. it’s not something she can really react to with words unless in the negative. and she doesn’t want to be negative.
he kisses her head one night because he’s literally insane and cannot fucking help himself any longer. can’t hold back how much he loves her and wants to hold her and just be with her. she doesn’t get mad at him or push him away or insult him or anything. she lets him do it, and lets him wrap his arms around her and hold her to him. lets him plant more kisses on her. she curls up in his lap with her bunny and he just knows this is heather doing her best to say “i love you too” back in the only way she can and his heart just fucking explodes.

Unexpected Ch 85 Theory Post
Spoilers under the cut
*deep breath*
HE KNOWS
HE KNEW THE WHOLE TIME
I FUCKING KNEW IT
okay so i don't actually have any definitive proof or substantial evidence beyond this and almost 20 years of an obsession with this character's personality specifically
HOWEVER
Chapter 79
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Key Points:
Shikamaru checks in immediately after seeing the weirdness and asks about what happened "when they were attacked by Boruto".
The translation might be a little weird here, 'cause I don't completely understand Eida's response - which is a shame because I think most of the analysis works better when you can grasp the nuance. Anyway, lol.
She starts off saying "Nothing really" - there's a pause where Kawaki tells her to tell Shikamaru that the Hokage's dead. So, jumping from, "Nothing, all good" to "oh shit actually the Hokage is dead, my bad" is maybe slightly suspicious.
Chapter 80
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Key Points:
Eida says rather bluntly that the Hokage has been killed by Boruto, but she's under duress with Kawaki's hand to her throat, so maybe she's not sounding like she usually would. Just a guess.
"There's a very high possibility" is not the same as "The Hokage has definitely been killed". I don't think Shikamaru 100% believes Eida, but I do think the possibility is upsetting enough for him to act on it regardless.
Shikadai is actually the main reason I am fairly confident Shikamaru knows something is up because this kid sees all this weird shit that doesn't add up and you know he talks to his dad about it.
Shikadai sees Sasuke take off with Boruto and you think he's not going to go to his dad like, "hey what the fuck?"
They're Naras, y'all. Come on now.
Chapter 81
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Key Points:
Shikamaru is the Hokage now, apparently.
Okay, that's actually a huge factor to consider as well because I don't think he would take that position if he didn't believe Naruto was still alive and able to take it back as soon as he was found. Shikamaru doesn't want to be Hokage, are you kidding me?
"The sanctions against Boruto were in accordance with regulations." "It's also the will of the Hidden Leaf's citizens." "No matter what I order, it won't convince them."
These are not comments that come from someone dead set on hunting down and punishing a criminal that murdered a political leader. This is the kind of thing you say when you're like, "listen, yes, but also bureaucracy is a bitch and I've gotta keep up appearances or someone else will actually hunt Boruto down and kill him".
He's less worried about the fact Sarada is trying to protect Boruto and more worried about how she's doing it. In my opinion. This is not a fact, I just wanted to point it out, lol.
Again, Shikadai hears Naruto's daughter, and who is currently perceived as being Kawaki's sister, say she wants to protect Boruto who supposedly killed her dad. She also said she feels like he's alive somewhere, and I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that is something a lot of other folks, including Shikamaru, feel as well.
Shikamaru's reaction to when Boruto arrives pretty much solidified my belief that he knows something is up and he doesn't think Boruto killed Naruto, or at the very least that Naruto could still be alive and there's more going on with this whole situation, so he's not eager to jump the gun and kill a child. Which is more than I can say for some of our pol- nevermind ignore this
Shikamaru's reaction to hearing Code is there and attacking people: Orders an evacuation and tries to figure out why Code is attacking, immediately concerned about the safety of the villagers.
Shikamaru's reaction to hearing Boruto just showed up: Prioritize Code and the claw marks, but keep tabs on Boruto without suggesting any kind of attack or restraint or anything like that. He's not worried about Boruto. But he is wanting to gather more intel on the situation as a whole, which makes sense, all things considered.
Chapter 82
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Key Notes:
Very intentional frame of Shikadai seeing Kawaki show up, Kawaki shouting for Himawari and Inojin to move out of the way so he can attack a claw thing, not worrying about their safety at all.
Himawari calls him "Big Bro" and Kawaki tells her not to call him that. Not very big brotherly. Again, Shikadai is there for this. Along with everyone else, so. You know, things are kind of weird. These are weird dynamics that are not matching up with their false memories.
Chapter 83
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Key Points:
Shikamaru, again, wants Kawaki to focus on eliminating Code - who is an actual threat - and pretty much ignores Boruto because he's not a concern.
Focuses on getting rid of the claw things even after Code has run off, prioritizing keeping him away and protecting the villagers instead of "trying to bring a Hokage killer to justice" or whatever the fuck people are trying to do with Boruto.
Chapter 84
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Key Notes:
What Shikamaru took away from Kawaki's breakdown of the situation was that Boruto only came to the village to deal with Code. Meaning that Boruto was never a threat to the village, and there's no reason to worry about him, but it also probably indicates that there is something worth doing more digging into to figure out what the fuck is going on with all of the discrepancies in his memory that I'm sure are pissing him off.
"It better not be someone in the sensory unit."
Kawaki doesn't trust Shikamaru, and probably not anyone else in Konoha. That's not a very "Naruto's son" kind of attitude to have. The fact Shikamaru doesn't seem phased by that distrust means he's either been dealing with it for three years already, has been suspicious of Kawaki this whole time, and more likely both of those things.
Also, what the fuck, that sounds threatening? Ino would kick Kawaki's ass. I'd love to see him try though, lol. No I wouldn't, don't do that please.
Weird tensions between Kawaki (supposedly Naruto's son) and Sarada (Sasuke's daughter). If it were a rivalry, that'd make sense. But the hostility between them? Nah, that don't track.
Sarada basically confirming that Boruto was after Code and most likely trying to find a way to save the people who have been turned into trees. A very "Naruto's son" kind of attitude.
Chapter 85
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Key Notes:
BOY. IF AMADO KNOWS, SHIKAMARU HAS KNOWN THE WHOLE GOD DAMN TIME
His face is hidden and he's not surprised or saying anything because if he's been trying to figure this shit out without tipping anyone off WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU SAY
Especially if he doesn't want Eida to know that he knows, because jesus christ her powers are scary and he's probably not eager to have to add that into the mess of variables he's already tangling with.
In Summary
Main Points
Shikamaru has been suspicious of this shit since omnipotence went off and fucked with people's heads.
Shikadai has been privy to some strangeness around Himawari, Kawaki and Boruto at the same time, and I can't imagine that he hasn't asked his dad about it or something. So whatever Shikadai has seen, I assume Shikamaru is somewhat aware of or we'll see a scene where something Shikadai saw or something he says makes it all click into place when his dad hears about it.
Shikamaru's language and attitude around Boruto have been intentionally vague and avoidant. It's the "will of the village", following the system's rules, etc. etc.
Shikamaru's more concerned with Code as a threat than with tracking down Boruto, which conveniently gives him an excuse to not pursue Boruto and prioritize the safety of the village at the same time.
Amado knows? Then Shikamaru has known. No doubt. There was a whole ass chapter where Shikamaru outsmarted Amado. Narratively speaking, we've got a point of reference for why there's a parallel here with Amado talking about this out loud and getting to see Shikamaru's reaction - or in this case, lack thereof - to hearing it.
Conclusion
Shikamaru continues to be the coolest man alive. Thank you for coming to my TED talk, byyyeeee

my thoughts on pathologic classic
finally finished the game all the way through, so here are my (not at all concise) thoughts
beware of spoilers and A LOT OF TEXT
NOTE: I do know quite a bit about pathologic 2, but seeing as I haven't played that game yet, I'll try to keep my ideas here separate and only focus on what I got from playing the classic version
Bachelor:
By far my favorite character, and if you say I'm biased cause we have similar degrees, you are absolutely right, but that's not why I love him. I got into pathologic by watching all the video essays I think everyone else watches, so coming into it I had a very specific idea of what Daniil would be like - rude, condescending, heartless, "the prickly prick who will bury us all" - and while I can definitely see where some of those are coming from sort of, after 80+ hours of playing this goddamn game I can safely say: Daniil is a good person who does good things and the hate he gets is largely undeserved. I'm a Daniil Dankovsky TRUTHER.
He's kind! He's surprisingly good with kids; when he does snap at them and threaten to put them in timeout or to call their parents, it's usually because they're breaking his quarantine rules and that's a REALLY BAD IDEA (after 2020, I feel we can all relate to that frustration). In one instance, Capella asks him to look for a kid in an infected district and, upon finding him, Daniil tells him to run off and leave testing the disease to him, earning a shmowder from the kid but also getting the plague. This is a side quest, it's up to you to decide if getting infected is worth the shmowder or not, but the fact of the matter is, Daniil doesn't have to care about this kid, he doesn't have to do this quest, but (at least in my save) he does. Forgetting about the kids though, Daniil is just a genuinely helpful guy. He's a fucking lifesaver when you're playing as the Haruspex, he clears your name completely on day 1 when he really doesn't have to. The two go on to collaborate pretty much until the end. When Daniil's solution begins to diverge from Artemy's, he explains that no, killing the polyhedron won't help Artemy actually, it's the only way to ensure Aglaya is sacrificed, which is the only way Artemy will be accepted by the kin, which he knows is important to him, it's his inheritance! Time and time again, Daniil gives it his all to protect the people of the town. He talks Peter down from suicide, he can try to do the same with Rubin, he kills a bunch of men to protect Andrey, at some point he has a mission to reunite a daughter with her father and he only fails that mission because Artemy kills her (because you asked him for an infected heart and Artemy chose hers). His best efforts are constantly thwarted or misunderstood. I'm not saying he's a saint, he still has plenty of awful dialogue lines to choose from, but? MAN, I've been a health professional during a pandemic, I understand frustration, the pure fucking rage felt at the people who don't quarantine or believe vaccines will help, the hatred that rises in your gut when you watch as politicians take advantage of the situation. I was only a student back then! Imagine being 1 out of FOUR (4!!) people who can do something!
Daniil's condescension is another one of those things where... I see it, but I don't. Yes, his latin is tacky and he does have lines calling people dumb as shit compared to him, a genius mastermind, but one thing that we have to take into account is that Daniil is, by all accounts, a genius mastermind. The mysticism of the town goes completely over his head (it's SO fucking funny to me that Daniil has 0 knowledge that the Rat Prophet even exists), but this is because it's not something one can easily prove 1) it exists and 2) can be repeated and reproduced, both of which are VERY important in scientific experimentation. Meanwhile, in the Capital, Daniil is a famous scientist known for his experiments surrounding death; he's so good he's earned himself a following, and if the rumors on the street are to be believed, Daniil has even successfully brought someone back from the dead! I think he gets to flex his smarts, maybe. He doesn't need to be rude about it, sure, but it's not like the people would respect him if he didn't flex it. He's told from the start that he just doesn't get it, will never get it, "you're smart but you're not" type of conversation time and time again, since he's not attuned to ~miracles~ like some of the others are. Again, as an atheist myself, I can see why that would get frustrating. There is also an instance where Daniil "mansplains" antibodies to Artemy? Artemy, a fellow doctor sort of, can reply with something along the lines of "don't make fun of me" and Daniil's response is a genuine "i wasn't making fun of you, i was only explaining a concept". To the fellow mentally ill person reading this, ain't that the most relatable thing ever? Talking about something you're passionate about with a person that you like, wanting to make sure they understand the concept because you love it and understand it, but just coming off as obnoxious?
Daniil is GAY AS HELL. Those videos don't prepare you for how gay this man is. I started getting into the fandom telling myself "wow people ship these two huh, I can't imagine why" and then I played the fucking thing and you can't not ship them. It's not even subtext at this point, this is how Daniil introduces himself to Artemy:
Tumblr media
He has two women thirsting over him (I don't know if Maria's feelings are genuine of if the Mistress magic within her just recognizes that he's her path to victory) and he barely reacts to them inviting him to their bed or saying "I love you" to his face. He can flirt back, but I feel like Daniil is just a charming guy as it is, he's from the Capital, he was friends with Andrey so you KNOW he did drugs in university and he has to know about the orgies already. He does care about Eva, but who wouldn't? In the runs you don't control him he often refers to her as "my Eva", but I always read it as platonic I'll be honest. Her death hits him hard, she's a sweetheart who only ever tried to help him, she housed him barely knowing who he was for fuck's sake, and Daniil's last conversation with her in the Cathedral shows he feels awful because he thinks she did it for him. I like to think that Daniil took a liking to Eva's kind and free spirit and often looked to her for comfort. Do I think he was in love with her? Absolutely not <3
Finally, let's talk about his ending, shall we? I feel like this is often used to demonstrate just how heartless Daniil is, and I will admit that, to me, his ending felt weirdly cruel and sudden while I was playing him. Hilariously, though, when I was playing as Artemy and spoke to Daniil about his solution, I thought Daniil had way better reasons to keep the polyhedron when I wasn't controlling him, and he explains his views better too. Daniil sees that the town is basically destroyed already, so many have died, so many more are infected and will soon die, they have a panacea but lack the materials with which to make enough to go around. The tower is aseptic, children have managed to live in it for the entirety of the plague without getting sick; it would be the perfect isolation ward for the survivors, a controlled space where they would be able to be vaccinated and monitored. Daniil does show frustration with the town, I think he even has some less than kind lines calling it backwards and doomed, but when his mind is clear and he's just talking about his plan, he says that he wouldn't mind saving the town, but he knows Block has to shoot something, and the polyhedron is worth preserving. I feel like his reasons are mostly empirical, a real science man's choice, but I'm also not one of those people who believes that Daniil represents hard, cold logic. The only reason he's searching for a way to defeat death is because he wants humans to die on their own terms, at peace. He follows facts but he interprets them with the mind of a bright eyed idealist. He writes the most dramatic letters in the world. He wears his heart of his sleeve! By the end of the game, he has seen evidence that the Kains are as magical as they claim to be. Maria's prophecies have come true, and he's literally spoken to the spirits of Nina and Simon. He sees the marvel of architecture that his twin friends managed to build, he admires it for what it is even without the mysticism on top, but then he actually learns that the mysticism is real, and he's naturally enthralled by it. Going into the polyhedron, hearing that music and seeing those lights, watching the kids play without a worry or care in the world. The future could be immortality and comfort, peace equal to that of a child who doesn't know pain, wouldn't that be wonderful? Adding to the mix the fact that he feels used by Aglaya (gonna be real here chief, either she played me super well or I was just not paying enough attention cause no matter which protagonist I was, I only ever loved Aglaya, this one is on him xoxo), while knowing she will die only if the town falls + knowing Artemy needs her dead or his prophecy won't be realized and his people won't accept him....... When talking to Clara about her ending, all she says is that she can't explain her miracle, a miracle requires faith, and yeah! If you were to meet God and he told you exactly how or why he stayed silent and hidden from you all your life, believing God exists and has power over the world would become fact, not a belief. There are too many "what ifs" in Clara's ending, at the cost of blood sacrifice one might add. Idk, I hate to see the town die and I do still think this ending is a bit cruel, but I get it. Daniil would think keeping the Polyhedron alive is the best choice, I can't fault him for it.
Side note, I would like to add that, although Daniil doesn't understand magic, as I've mentioned, he is the first person to defend it when he finds proof for it, and this doesn't just apply to the Kains. He admits he was wrong about the people and practices of the Steppe; they do work, he doesn't know how, but they are very much real and they do absolutely work, Artemy even gives him a panacea, a cure for the epidemic made from ancient, sacred blood. How can he go on claiming they're dumb superstitions? When you play as the Changeling, Daniil doesn't believe what he's heard about you at first, good or bad, but then he witness one of your miracles and from that point forth he's on your side. He defends her from Aglaya, once again rectifying the reputation of a perceived scoundrel simply because he can and he thinks they deserve it.
Haruspex:
This man makes me feral, I want to hug him so bad. His casual playfulness gets to me, the fact that his bound are children means that he often has to deal with them, and he really is good with them. A lot is said about his first mission being a testament to how hard the game and, indeed, his whole run is: one of your bound, a kid, asks you to kill another kid for betraying him or whatever. The reward is a shmowder, a cure to the plague, but you obviously lose reputation for going through with it. And see, if making this decision really was as crucial as some people make it out to be, I would get it, but it's really not. Letting the kid leave with his life means you don't get a shmowder, sure, but that doesn't matter cause you're playing the guy who invents the fucking cure. Notkin, the kid who "hired" you, thanks you for letting him live because he no longer felt so angry he wanted him dead once you left his hideout. TO ADD EVEN MORE REASONS TO WHY YOU SHOULD BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING, that kid you let escape comes back on day 9 and helps you get the Bachelor out of prison, no questions asked. Saving that kid and getting rep for it is so much more important than getting a single cure, especially because, if you're role-playing as Artemy in that moment, he probably doesn't even know what the shmowders do. Don't make your life harder. Play Artemy as the nice, moral man he is, protect the kid, protect all the children of the town, and you'll be rewarded with their friendship and all the things they can do for you. Murky alone provides the ingredients you need to make 2 fucking cures, and the price you pay for that is "go on a nice stroll through the steppe looking for her missing doll".
Related to my last point, Artemy will only really be hunted down by the masses for his crimes if he goes around town killing innocent people for no reason. You don't need to do that!!! If you must kill (and I do understand you kinda do in order to make your awesome potions), killing criminals at night raises reputation and, surprise bro, they also have organs: steal 'em, cook 'em, thrive. Artemy is portrayed as a brutish, scary man who will spill blood, and just like how it is with Daniil, this is all true in places. Despite what his model in 2 might suggest, I always envision him as a tall, large and imposing figure, the giant with the heart of gold archetype and all. People in the streets see that man, they hear about his crimes and his alleged crimes and they think the worst of him. I do believe part of the confusion also comes from the racist views of the people of the town, who go on and on about how freaky the worms and the brides are. Artemy's prophecy that he will spill blood is true for his ending, that's how he gains access to the ingredients he needs to make the cures, but it's also just a part of his occupation. Not to be a filthy solasmancer on main, but there's a character I really like in dragon age who says "the healer has the bloodiest hands" and to me that's Artemy in a nutshell. Daniil is more scientist than doctor imo, he deals with antigens and antibodies, proteins seen only through a microscope, a modern invention. He injects his solution with aseptic, hypodermic needles, and it seems to me that he mostly dealt with corpses in his previous job. Artemy's role in his society requires him to get his hands dirty to make sure that whoever is still living but hurting can recuperate and go on living. I think both positions are admirable and, to me, Artemy's is downright beautiful. As the devs have said, his story is about love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HIS ENDING FUCKED ME UP, MAN. I really spent the entire game thinking I would go for his designated solution no matter what. Nothing else made sense to me, I was looking forward to seeing how Daniil would explain his side to convince Artemy into choosing ANYTHING over the town, his town. Then I found out about Oyun who told me about Aglaya, Daniil told me that, if Artemy destroyed the polyhedron, the ancient blood would indeed flow, but the kin would not allow him to use it because, by choosing to not take his sacrifice when he needed to, he would not be accepted by them. Aglaya x Artemy is the only romance with the protagonists that I'm willing to believe, besides Daniil x Artemy ofc. Aglaya is enamored by Artemy (or possibly manipulating him because) she sees how he lives his life independent of the Powers That Bed. So what if my decisions are preordained? They're helping the ones I love. She's hoping his independence will rub off on her, and indeed his ending is the only way she lives. If you care about Aglaya, which I certainly do, choosing an ending as Artemy is torture.
I wish Artemy had stronger ties to the town. His father is dead when the game starts and all of the kids he's put in charge of are strangers. He does have an old friend there, Rubin, but he mostly contacts him through letters telling him he's out to kill him, and if I'm remembering correctly, later they meet once so Rubin can apologize and then he never comes back? My memory is bad, but that feels right. Anyway, the kin do seem to remember him, they do certainly recognize his name if not, but they don't respect him until Artemy proves himself to them. I won't get into pathologic 2, I said I wouldn't, but I know this alienation was tweaked in that game and I'm glad for him. Having Grief and Lara as extra childhood friends only adds to Artemy's connection with the town and the people living in it. Wanting to keep his childhood friends safe, who are all bound to Clara, would give him even more reasons to agonize over his ending. Imagine if, after falling down Oyun's hole (oops!) and speaking to the Changeling, Artemy had to choose one of those three women to die knowing one of his oldest friends was among them! Delicious drama, I say.
Oh yeah, Artemy is also gay as shit. I'm sorry, but if a stranger from the big city came to me and asked me for a still beating infected heart which I might have to lose reputation to get, I would at least think to tell them "maybe" if not "go fuck yourself". I won't go into this ship again, but the way they're both always so willing to help each other, even though it would be easier not to.........
Changeling:
Getting into this game, I had quite a bit of information on Daniil and Artemy, but very little on Clara. I knew the basics: she's the plague, but she isn't! She has a twin but she doesn't! How is that possible? Fuck you! That being said, I was probably looking forward to her route the most because I felt like this was the character I had the most to learn about, and I was right. Clara deserves more love, her character is truly incredible. But.... where to start, oh my god................
Okay, so Clara is the personification of the plague, we learn this super early on; in the Haruspex route, she asks Artemy to talk to the Rat Prophet about who she is and what her purpose is. Artemy can be nice and tell her she's a holy healer who can only do good, or he can tell her the truth, which terrifies her. She is spit by the Earth (wakes up in a hole with no memories) and arrives in town on the day the plague starts. While Daniil and Artemy have to pay everyday for updated maps showing the different infected districts, Clara sees her "twin" in dreams who tells her where she'll go next, so she always just Knows where the plague's spreading. She has to convince her mirror self to leave an infected district to prevent it from staying infected until the end of the game. It's obvious that she holds power over the plague, the how is what gets most people. How can she both have and not have a twin? How is she a deadly disease but also a holy healer? The answer, in the end, is quite simple. Clara is the personification of the plague, but she is also a bright 13 year old girl with an imagination. In this world we're invited to play in, which is actually the invention of two very traumatized children and, beyond that, a group of indie game developers with a passion for what they do, having an avid imagination is what makes Clara unique, it's the source of all her magic and goodness, even if it cannot completely erase her wickedness. Clara believes she can heal people and find a solution that doesn't require Block to shoot anything, and in doing so, those options become real. When Clara said she had a twin sister, she spoke another Clara into being. It's truly fascinating and also tragic, I think, to tell the story of a young girl who believes she can cure all of Humanity's ailments, not realizing (or perhaps living in denial of the fact) she's the reason those ailments exist in the first place.
I'm gonna break the mold a bit and talk about her ending already, because I feel like it flows well coming from that last point. Clara's ending, the miracle that keeps both the polyhedron and the town, can only be achieved by keeping her bound alive and healthy until the end of the game, which is harder as Clara than it is as the other two. With Daniil and Artemy, if you manage your time correctly, you will keep all your bound healthy, but Clara's daily missions require her to meet her bound and learn how awful they are (well, some of them) and then she has to lie about their true nature to those who could punish them for it, just as Clara lies about herself. She detests trickery, but if we ourselves are to suffer deception, our hands are no longer tied. When you know the truth about something, you are compelled to form a just opinion on it, but if you are lied to or deceived in some way, any decision you make may yet be forgiven because you just didn't know all the facts. Clara lives in make believe land in the most figurative but also literal sense possible. The sins of her bound don't hit her as hard because they have been deceived into believing they're real people, so she's inclined to forgive them, especially cause she's certain they can still be useful to her. In many ways, Clara is lying to herself about her true nature so she can navigate the world without concerns. Lying to her dad about the "goodness" of her bound and taking the reputation loss because of it is kind of poetic; her dad made the wrong choice by believing her and not arresting those people, but he's been freed from his crimes by her lies. Later, when Clara turns to her bound and asks them to make the ultimate sacrifice to power the miracle, they go in peace. Most say they're glad they get to die like "a real human" with a blood like Simon's.
Clara's route is really fun, but later on it does get as repetitive as everyone says, you can tell she was rushed. The missions "find your sister and banish her" and "find the bachelor and the haruspex so they won't kill each other" do get annoying, especially because they don't even have different dialogue prompts and every time you get into one of those houses to talk to them you just get the shit beat out of you, or you get the plague. There's also like... NO mention of Eva's death in her route? She's alive in the Haruspex's so I though she would be too in the Changeling's or, if she did die, I thought there would be a really cool conversation between them, seeing as the Changeling sends Daniil a letter taunting him with Eva's suicide. But no, Eva just stops showing up at her house and that's it. Huge waste of potential there. I also don't get why some of her bound are those people? Anna Angel, Bad Grief and Aspity are the fucking most in this game, so those I get. Oyun is out to kill the Burakhs, so yeah I read him on the bad vibes scale too. Katerina is a failed Mistress who only ever gave me bad instructions, so I GUESS she counts, and Alexander is a cop so fuck him too. I could make a case for Rubin? Kind of? But for Lara and Yulia, I am truly out of ideas. Clara's bound is made up of all these complex liars and cheats, corrupt politicians and the like, and then there's the lady who's too nice to shoot even her father's murderer and the math lesbian who....????? I'm gonna be real here, I never know what the fuck Yulia is talking about, I could not tell you if I like her or not because I simply do not understand what her purpose is. She's a fatalist who believes in the predetermination of fate and, as far as I can tell, that's it. Cool look, though.
I love that she gets to meet the Powers That Be twice and that they're spooked she got to them earlier than the other two. I also like the detail that this whole Clara dichotomy exists because the kids can't decide between one another if she should save or kill everyone.
One thing I forgot to say in the section about her ending: I love the implication that her ending will only reach peak effectiveness if the healers learn to work together. Clara will transform the blood of those who volunteer to die "like Simon"; this blood is what will allow Artemy to make the cures to all of those who get infected; this blood is also what allowed Daniil and Rubin to make a vaccine that can prevent the disease from coming back for as long as they can. Note: Awesome world building detail, adding in that Simon's blood was old and that was why it could only be used to make vaccines, not panaceas. It makes me think about how older folk tend to hold wisdom of past generations that allow the younger ones to avoid unnecessary pain (Daniil is older than the other two healers, not by a lot but still....... curious). This suggest that, when catastrophe does hit, the younger folks can return the favor by protecting them to the best of their ability, and then, when the bad days pass, we can look to the children and recognize that the future we build afterwards is for them. Allowing humans to exist within a loving community is Clara's miracle. It's so fucking nice to be alive, you guys.
anyway play pathologic, it's not as hard as it seems, and if it is just cheat, i won't tell anyone

OMG YOU HAVE SPOONS!!!!!! YIPPIE!!!! (probably bc you got a good night's sleep)
And if you know me at all, be prepared for the sea of questions>:]
1) Go into detail about Dalia and Sabrina and their family in the second Gen au. Any Hcs or stuff?
2) Nyx and his relationship with his family.
3) (idk if it was onyx or nyx who had the ED, I forgor their names are so similar).Go into detail Abt thier ED, tho.
4) For the love of God drop Hcs till I die, I don't care for who, I just NEED them.
And, if you have spoons don't be afraid to look in your inbox for any other asks I may have sent/nf (bc both me and you forget about the asks tbh)
Tumblr media
And as always, ily platonically, man :333
It is not the sleep, I don't need sleep, idk what it was if it wasn't the sleep, but im not being proven wrong /j
I've only got a couple, and they're pretty Dalia centric, but you can have em
Dalia picked up a bunch of tips and tricks for dealing with kids both from helping raise her siblings and from treating kids as a nurse, uses them all the time, her personal favorite thay she's picked up is doubling bedsheets when kids are sick so that if they get dirty you can just take it off and make it a later problem while you comfort said sick child. Dalia is also very sentimental as a parent, cries at every ceremony and graduation. Sometimes she'll say something that sounds like her mother and she goes quiet for a while after that. I have a feeling that Sabrina and Dalia's house tends to be the designated 'safe house' for Vee and Jasper's friends. Dalia's actually kind of happy about this, in her mind it's confirmation that she's not her mother. (This may or may not be based on the fact that my house irl is the safehouse). All I have rn, sorry
Next up Nyx, my boy. He feels like a walking second place trophy compared to all his siblings. Brushes it off in an Rottmnt Leo sort of way, through humor and a facade of confidence. Desperately wants anyone to be proud of him. Takes his little siblings out crimeing™️ together sometimes, and is like the number one supporter of their shenanigans. Let's them steal his shit, as long as they don't get caught(bc he taught them better than that). The only thing he'd put up a fight against having stolen is his binder, but that's about it.
Oh and Onyx is the one with an ED, she has anorexia specifically. It started with her just trying to lose weight, she's fairly light, but her frame is wide, so she didn't see any results and things got drastic from there, especially when people started making fun of her for her body. She's super sensitive to comments about her body, and the bullying just made it so much worse. She hates looking at herself, in mirrors, in pictures, anything. It's like her eyes pick out the flaws every time and she can't stand it. So she's trying to 'fix' herself, much to the worry of the people around her. She eats in the dream bubbles, but that's only because she knows that it isn't real. Harlow noticed this and has started sneaking food into the dream bubbles just so Onyx eats for once. Onyx still hasn't caught onto this.
And various hcs about the sillies
Onyx spins her drumsticks between her fingers when she's bored, she can do it really fast too
Nyx's hoodie he wears in his sprite is his dysphoria hoodie
Gray has a lot of little interests she keeps hidden. They tend to be niche and geeky, so she hides them to protect her image
Nyx can project his voice loud enough to yell over the band
Onyx is only ever quiet when she's flustered or thinking about somthing, other than that there's usually at least a dull chatter coming from her
Onyx is very physically affectionate, she straight up tackle hugs people.
Gray was a pageant kid,and his parents were very competitive about it. They still have all their sashes from it too
Onyx doesn't fight for herself, but if you say something bad about someone she cares about that's when she starts a fight. Starting fights like that is what got her thrown through a window that one time
Onyx is the one who started calling Alison peepaw, and it just stuck after that
When Alison sleeps she doesn't snore, she shuffles through radio channels under her breath, kind of like sleeptalking
Speaking of Alison, he's insecure about the radio affect his voice has
Alison is very protective of the kids she's 'adopted' (usually underclassmen, but they've also taken most of the radio class under their wing)
