☁︎ FLASHBACK | LAST NIGHT

"Can you still come over tomorrow, too? I think it'd be good if we talked about everything." Minho looks at you with pure adoration, heart soaring after you surprised him and dropped by after your movie night with Uncle Adrian.

"Okay. Are you sure you're ready to?"

"Yeah, I am. We should. Just so we're on the same page." He holds you closer. "But tonight, we can just be here and watch whatever you wanna watch."

"Sounds good with me." You softly smile while looking up at him. "Wait." You turn to lay on your stomach and look at him. "Tell me how we met in high school. How you met Jisung."

"Oh god." He cringes, groaning into the pillow but you fight to remove it from his face. You finally succeed, cupping his face to make him look at you. He laughs and gives in anyway, pulling you close to him as you continue to wait for his response. "Fine. You're lucky you're cute."

"Tell me!" You pout.

"Okay!" He laughs. "It's really anticlimactic, you know?"

"Okay? I still wanna know." You rest your chin on your palm.

"I was late to class on our first day of freshman year because I had to go to the office to get my schedule sorted out. On my way to class, Jisung almost ran into me cause he was rushing. Dropped his books and everything." Minho laughs. "It was everywhere. He was frantically picking it up." Minho tried to mimic Jisung being a mess. "He kept saying sorry and that he was late. I kinda just watched him run off without saying anything because I didn't know what to say."

"You didn't even help him?"

"He kept saying not to!" You chuckle. "But anyway, after that, I found out my locker was next to his. You know him, he's always been super talkative. I guess that's how we got close."

"And how did we meet?"

"I came along with Jisung to meet you after school to eat. We picked you up at your school, then walked down the street to the small restaurant we started going to often afterwards."

"Hm." You hum.

"Look." Minho grabs an old polaroid from his nightstand, showing one with you, him, and Jisung in your high school uniforms eating at the restaurant; the other polaroid is just you, smiling. "It's one of my favorite pictures."

"You just keep it there?" You look at his nightstand and he nods.

"Mhm."

"Minho." You move up, tracing his jaw with your finger.

"Yeah?"

"Do you still hate taking pictures?" You remember Jisung mentioning this to you, but part of you is now starting to realize it must have to do with this history he has yet to talk to you about.

"Kinda, I guess? They're just not my thing." You rest your chin on his chest and subtly nod. You rest there for a minute, with Minho beginning to gently stroke your hair.

"You okay?" You give him a small, toothless smile.

"Mhm."

"What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing." Minho lets out a breath before lazily pulling you closer to his face by the elbows.

"You sure?"

"Mhm."

"Hey." He says softly. "You know I just want you to be happy, right?"

"Where is this coming from?"

"Nowhere. You know that though, right?" You giggle a bit.

"Yeah, of course."

"You come first, and I will always prioritize your happiness before anybody's."

"Minho."

"Just listen." He pouts a bit. "I just need you to know this."

"Okay." You answer close to a whisper. "I know you would, I wouldn't doubt it."

"No matter what."

"Okay." Minho feels a sense of relief because he really just needed you to know that. Of course, right now, he must seem blinded by the affection in the air and everything that's been going on between you two— but he truly hopes you know that he will always support you and keep you happy, no matter what that may look like.

Even after everything happens, he will make sure you're happy.

Even if that meant ending this.

Even if that meant giving you space.

Being your bestfriend before anything.

He will make sure you're happy.

"Come here." He breaks the silence again, pulling you onto his lips gently, softly; passionately. He holds the kiss for awhile before repeatedly pressing kisses to your lips. He pulls you onto him, deepening the kiss a little bit more; hands gripping onto your hips as you gently roll against him.

He loves you.

You are love to Minho.

You are the blue sky to Minho.

And this is probably the last time he'll get to hold you and kiss you like this.

"You're off today?" You ask Uncle Adrian as you pop into the house, curious to see what's in the fridge.

"I could ask you the same." He laughs. "Did you just come from the boys' house?"

"Way earlier. Minho dropped me off before heading to the café. I just figured I'd pop in after seeing you move around in the kitchen." He nods.

"Come, I'm about to make brunch. Anything you're craving for? Like, pancakes? Eggs? Bacon?"

"Hm, nothing too heavy. Toast, bacon, eggs?" He nods.

"Alright, they're all coming up then." He opens the fridge and takes out a carton of orange juice. "Orange juice? Water, tea?"

"Water is good." You smile at him as he slides you a nice, cold glass of water. He begins to toast some bread while preparing the stove for the eggs and bacon.

"What're your plans today? No work, no class?"

"Nope. I was gonna go to class, but I changed my mind. I worked some overtime the past few shifts. Plus, I went to class the other day and loaded up my new pieces in the kiln. Think it's a perfect time for a little break." You sip on some water. "I'm going to the café in a bit to meet up with Jisung. Then, we'll go back to their place and just hang out again."

"Nice." He looks at you while he quickly beats the eggs and pours it into the pan. "Those two treating you well?"

"Of course."

"Good. You seem happier."

"Do I?" He nods.

"Mhm."

"I guess so." You smile to yourself as trace your water glass, remembering the past moments with Minho; how safe, how warm he feels. How he makes you feel. "Things just finally feel.. settled. I feel content."

"Well, I'm glad you're happy and content." He says with a tiny hint of worry in his statement, but he trusts Minho is learning and is trying to do better. Of course, he never wants to see you hurt. But, he has a big heart, and he also believes people deserve second chances [being that they prove themselves worthy]. He just hopes you are genuinely happy.

He hopes Minho and Jisung have been talking to you about everything. He truly, truly hopes so.

"Yeah, it feels nice." You giggle, tracing the rim of your cup. "What about you? How're your projects going?"

"They're going alright. We completed one, finally. Might pick up another big job about an hour away. Need to build a new space for a client." He sighs. "Which reminds me, I need to follow up with him and set up a meeting to talk about what exactly he's looking for."

"That's great! And you will follow up with him. But for now, maybe just enjoy your day off?" You tilt your head and Uncle Adrian laughs.

"You're right." He slides the plate over to you. "Here, got yours ready first. Dig in!"

"I can wait for you."

"No, you have places to be." He chuckles. "You can eat Y/N. Don't worry about your little ol' uncle." You laugh and bite into your bacon.

"Thank you for breakfast."

"My pleasure." Uncle Adrian continues to talk to you a bit more about work, but he does promise he'll enjoy his day off and not think about it much. You talk to him about Mrs. Pak and how great work has been, how much fun you're having at pottery class. How the drawings and paintings are finally coming back to you, finally easing into your fingertips.

Sooner or later, you get up to wash your dishes and freshen up— leaving the house to catch the next bus and train. You bid your farewell and tell your uncle not to stay up to wait, that your friends will take care of you tonight so no need to keep watch of the side door [and your guest home door]. He insists on driving you to the café, but you promise him the public transportation trek isn't bad and you enjoy taking the trip. You reassure him until you've successfully made it out the door and on your way to the stop.

It's quite nice traveling alone, especially when the train is close to empty. The streets are busy though, mixed with workers grabbing lunch, and people just enjoying their day. You stop by the shop to see Mrs. Pak, but she quickly shoos you away [in a lovingly manner] and tells you to enjoy your day off. When you make your way into Sunday Morning, you don't catch sight of Minho or Jisung. But, you do see a few other favorites:

"Y/N, hi!" JJ smiles from ear to ear and you can't help but giggle. Right next to him is Soobin, working away at making everyone's drinks. Soobin gives you a nod and a wave, in which you return after greeting JJ.

"Where's Minho?"

"Being the worst and not manning the register like he should be."

"I'm busy loading up the cookies since you forgot to do it even after I asked." You hear Minho's voice in the back.

"See? The worst." Minho glares at him as he walks out, wiping his hands on a paper towel before tossing it into the trash. His eyes land on you and his expression softens; Minho subtly biting onto this bottom lip to prevent himself from smiling too wide.

"Hi. Hope I wasn't interrupting your cookie time?" You say as you approach the register, hugging your tote bag close to you.

"No, not at all. JJ's just being JJ." Minho clears his throat while pushing JJ aside. "What can I get you, pretty?"

"Iced coffee, please?"

"Extra sweet?" You chuckle and nod.

"Jisung isn't here yet?"

"No, but he'll probably trickle in soon." Minho shrugs nonchalantly like he always does, making you chuckle as you sit at a table and get comfortable. He follows shortly behind with your coffee, pulling up a chair just as he places your cup down. "Want anything to eat?"

"No. My uncle was off today! He made some brunch." Minho chuckles.

"That's nice. Glad he finally has a decent day off."

"Me too." You pull out your sketchbook, pulling up a picture of a bouquet you helped prepare with Mrs. Pak yesterday. "How's it been so far?"

"Mm, same old. Kinda busy."

"Busy is good." You chuckle.

"What're you working on?" You flip your phone and show him the picture of the bouquet.

"I made this with Mrs. Pak yesterday. We had to help with a small company event and they requested a couple of bouquets for pick up."

"That's really pretty."

"Thank you. I worked hard." Minho laughs.

"You always do." You give him a small, shy smile, heat rising to your cheeks with the way he's looking at you from across the table. "You're still coming over, right?"

"Mhm, of course. You said you wanted to talk."

"I do."

"Yo!" You turn your head to see Jisung walking in, holding onto his backpack strap, headphones loosely hanging around his neck. He waves to JJ and Soobin, instantly spotting you and Minho at a table afterwards. "My favorite people." Jisung plops onto a chair and lets his bag gently fall to the ground.

"Why do you sound like you ran a marathon?"

"I did." Jisung pouts. "No, but we had a team meeting that went on for so long. Too much shit. I'm drained." Minho nods. "Hi cielo."

"Hi pachi."

"What're you doing?"

"Just drawing."

"How'd you get here?"

"Bus, train. My uncle was off and insisted on bringing me, but I told him I didn't mind the trip."

"Oh, he's off? That's good." Jisung shifts his attention to Minho and pouts [whines] again. "I'm hungry." He rubs at his tummy. "My tummy's gonna eat itself." Minho rolls his eyes.

"What do you want?" Jisung smiles.

"Iced Americano. Chocolate croissant. Pretty please?" Minho nods and walks towards Soobin and JJ, muttering a few things as he gets Jisung's order ready. "Cielo."

"Hm?"

"What do you wanna do later with the guys?" Jisung pulls out his laptop and starts typing away, eyes fixed on the screen in front of him.

"Anything."

"Okay, so you'd play Super Smash Bros?"

"Sure." You chuckle. "As long as I can use Kirby."

"Weak." Jisung teases before letting out a small laugh. "Kidding. Deal. How about food?"

"Hm. You know what sounds nice?"

"Yeah?" He questions with a head tilt.

"Burgers." He shrugs.

"Can buy some or make Minho cook it." You shake your head.

"Let's get them to-go somewhere?" He nods.

"Sounds good."

"What're you working on, Ji?"

"Some last minute action items from work." He sighs. "Long ass meeting." He lets out, still in disbelief at how incredibly long [and unproductive] that meeting was. "What are you drawing?" You turn your phone towards him.

"Look at these bouquets I made with Mrs. Pak."

"Yo, those are beautiful." He scrolls between pictures. "You're gonna have Mrs. Pak's business booming soon."

"I hope so." You chuckle. "I mean it'll be busy, but she really deserves the support."

"Agreed." He smiles. "They're really pretty. Let me see the final drawing after." You nod.

"Here, princess." Minho says, the both of you looking up at him.

"Me or her?"

"Just take the food." Minho look at Jisung in disgust and slides his tray over to him before walking back to the counter.

"Well, I don't know! I thought you were bringing Y/N something else." Jisung exclaims before sipping on his iced americano. "Goodness. I needed this." You chuckle.

You continue to draw at the table while Jisung works for a bit in front of you. He talks about his coworkers and how the one thing they did discuss at the meeting was the company's BBQ soon at the office. Their team has decided to bring in a few dishes to contribute, which is unfortunate for Jisung. He tells you that he's tried to look up certain recipes to try, but he ultimately gave up. He insists [and finalizes] that he'll buy ramen for everyone.

"Like, you're going to make a pot of ramen, or you're going to buy the cups and bring it?"

"Shouldn't I just bring the cups? What if people don't want it, then the rest of the ramen goes to waste."

"True, I mean you could always pack it up." He shakes his head.

"It won't be fresh or anything."

"Just say you wanna bring the cups cause it's easier."

"I wanna bring the cups cause it's easier." He does as he's told, making you laugh. At this point, Minho returns, swinging the chair for him to sit in.

"So, what's the plan later?" Minho asks, even though he knows the main thing he needs to do tonight is talk to you. He'll keep it normal though, he'll hang out and let it be a nice evening before he pulls you aside to talk. He just wants to do this gently as much as possible, easing all of this onto you without any restrictions. You needed to know, and he will do everything to keep you comfortable— even if that meant creating distance for you to be in your own peace.

"Maybe you should work first before asking." JJ teases from behind the counter, but Minho simply looks over his shoulder before returning his attention towards you two.

"Order some burgers for takeout then play Smash Bros." Jisung shrugs while looking at him. "I don't know what else."

"We should camp outside in the backyard."

"Camp.. outside in the backyard?"

"Yeah, we have tents. Weather's still pretty nice."

"Actually, that sounds kinda fun." You rest your chin on the palm of your hand, now focused on shading.

"We have a bigger tent that could fit all five of us. And we could use Seungmin's projector to pull up a movie against the side of the house or something."

"When the hell did we get a bigger tent that could fit all five of us?"

"My dad gave it to us in case we wanted to go camping."

"Oh, I didn't know that." Jisung responds with a head tilt. "Kinda do agree. We should set it up later." Minho stands and pushes the chair in, stretching a bit.

"Alright well, let me get—" The attention suddenly shifts to the door swinging open abruptly, a few voices echoing into the café before one individual storms inside. To your surprise, it's Kat; and you're only surprised because you do recall Minho saying whatever they had was done with. You haven't seen her in awhile, and you weren't expecting her to storm in after some time.

But, she is angry.

She's looking right at you and Minho.

"Nice fucking going." Kat storms in angrily, heading straight for Minho who is still standing near your table. "What the hell is wrong with you?!"

"What are you doing? Can you keep your voice down?" Minho furrows his brows and puts his hand out to keep some distance between him and Kat. She's fuming, and Minho isn't exactly sure why— but, he does have an inkling as to why she's this upset. She must have had a few more words to share with him and didn't like the fact that she was [finally] blocked.

"Keep my voice down? What's your problem? All of a sudden, you're blocking me—" Minho sighs heavily.

"Can we not talk about this here?"

"Because of her?" She laughs, making Jisung stand up next to Minho in an attempt to protect you from whatever Kat has up her sleeve.

Though, nothing would've prepared them for this very moment. Not from Kat.

"Dude." Jisung says sternly.

"Not the time." Minho picks up on the cue, trying to get Kat to leave as peacefully as possible. But, of course, peaceful isn't in her vocabulary— so she continues.

"Wow, unbelievable." She rolls her eyes. "It's really funny how you're suddenly so protective over her. You weren't like that before, at least, not that I could remember."

"Kat." Minho calls her name once, and he's hoping it's enough of a warning. It's not.

"Don't start." She aggressively whips around to try and avoid Minho's reach. You're so confused, especially when Jisung is clenching his jaw. JJ is suddenly getting closer, and Soobin is on high alert. Why do you suddenly feel like you're being sucked into this never-ending black hole? Why does this all feel wrong? "Just so you know Y/N, your so-called bestfriends? They've been lying to you and hiding so much shit from you. Especially this one." She scoffs. "He was never even loyal to you, to the point where he let you leave that night—"

"Kat!" Minho yells, grabbing her wrist again. He truly wasn't trying to touch her, or get handsy in his café— in public. But, it's unfortunate that he has to, along with JJ's help. "You need to leave. Now!"

"W-what?" You look at Jisung, then back at Minho.

"Let go of me! Did you really think you could hide from her forever—"

"That's enough! Get the hell out!" JJ yells as he rushes over and holds the door open for her. "Seriously, don't make me call the police. Got the nerve to do this in a damn café, you must be outta your mind!"

"Please don't come back here. I mean that." Minho sternly says, his jaw clenched.

"You're all so fucking pathetic." She laughs, shaking her head. "At least now she knows how amazing you guys truly are." She sarcastically spits out before walking away, her friends [who had been lingering outside] right beside her. People in the café are too stunned to speak about the drama that just ensued, and lots of them are giving your entire group looks.

But, you don't care.

Right now, you don't.

Because this is all going to blow over for everyone else; for you, it won't.

They lied to you. They hid from you.

"Y/N, let's talk about this." You stand and create some distance between you and Minho, Jisung right by him.

"What did she mean?" You shakily ask. "Was it true?" You did have a feeling Kat was part of this history, but you never knew it would be this big. Not something that would just blow up in your face on a random day in this café. Not something that makes you feel queasy, sick to your stomach.

Because now, it feels like everything.

You thought you might have played a part, like you might have been the reason why there was a bumpy past. But now you're understanding that it was never you, that it was her. It was Minho. It was Jisung.

It was everyone but you.

"Was it true?" You repeat. Both Minho and Jisung are silent, and their silence is telling. It tells you everything you need to know. Everything you needed to know that everyone else felt like you didn't. You start shaking your head more, tears steadily falling down your cheeks even though you don't know the story, the details— but what you do know is that you are hurt. The two people you loved and trusted are standing here, looking you in the eye, yet they aren't doing much to make you feel better.

"Y/N, please. I can explain, just let me explain all of this—"

"I can't be here. I-I have to go." You quietly pack up your things.

"Cielo, let me bring you home. Let's just talk—" You look at Jisung and your heart hurts even more. Jisung was supposed to be your other half, and here he is; looking at you with those guilty, puppy eyes. Part of you still hopes it isn't as bad as it seems, that maybe this is all a misunderstanding. It's hard to bypass your gut feelings, though.

"I'm going to go." You look at him. "Alone. Please don't follow me or anything."

"Cielo. We need to talk about this."

"Please. I'm not asking." You throw the bag strap over your shoulder. "Excuse me." You push through, Minho calling your name once—twice— before you're finally outside.

You can breathe.

The anxiety is still bubbling in your stomach, but you can breathe.

You hurriedly walk to the train station to start your trek back home, tears still streaming down your face as you keep your head hung low. You don't even know what this means, what this means for you and your friends, what this means for tomorrow. The day after. The future.

And you're scared.

But just knowing that they've hid things from you, hurts.

It aches.

The pain is dull, but it aches.

The ride home is difficult; you keep your head down the entire time to avoid showing your tears. Your phone is constantly going off with texts from Jisung [you assume] but the most you can do at this moment is silence your phone.

You drag yourself home, head still hung low even as you step into your door and place your things down. You look around your space, your room, eyes landing on the pictures you have. Then, the tears fall continuously; on, and on, and on. You sit back onto your bed, crying into your hands as everything Kat said replayed in your head.

"Just so you know Y/N, your so-called bestfriends? They've been lying to you and hiding so much shit from you. Especially this one."

"He was never even loyal to you."

Minho no longer feels safe, warm.

"Y/N, are you home already?" You hear Uncle Adrian softly call out at your door. He must have heard you come in through the side door, but wasn't able to catch sight of you.

"Yes." You mumble through your words. "Come in." And with that, he swings the door open and pokes his head into your room. His heart instantly drops when he sees you in the bed, crying— wiping away at your tears while you sniffle away.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He sits next to you. "What happened?"

"They've been hiding from me." Uncle Adrian's heart crumbles to pieces when he hears the words come out of your mouth because he knows.

Oh, he definitely knows what you mean.

But, Uncle Adrian doesn't respond and you can't help but look at him to see if you're missing something. You can tell. His look is softer, more worry and fear laced in his expression than anything else.

"Uncle, why aren't you saying anything?" His head drops a bit, letting out a hefty sigh. "Y-you knew about this, too?"

"I'm so sorry, Y/N."

"D-Does everyone know besides me?" Silence. "I've been going around looking that stupid? Because here I was.. going on, trying to get used to the world again and enjoying every moment. Little did I know that everyone was hiding stuff from me." You sniffle.

"What exactly happened today?"

"Kat came into the café today. She was mad at Minho, then she started saying all this stuff to me about my bestfriends hiding stuff a-and lying to me. S-she told me Minho was never—" You pause to let out a breath. "—Was never loyal to me." You look at your uncle and his heart breaks. "I don't even know what she means, but I know it hurts."

"Minho and Jisung were going to tell you eventually." Which, he truly means. He believed they would. He just didn't think they were going to take this long, especially with the way Minho is going about things. He can't say he's mad, but he can't say he isn't disappointed they didn't do it sooner. There was no way Uncle Adrian would've known or kept track of all this, even if he wanted to. He just trusted them to take care of it the way that they say they would.

"But, that's the problem. Why couldn't anyone just be honest from the beginning?"

"This is tough." He shakily says. "I'm so sorry, Y/N. We never meant to hurt you, we just wanted to protect you and keep you safe. We wanted to give you time, however long you needed, to re-adjust.

"Did you not believe I could take it? I would've wanted to know."

"It's not that." He sighs a bit. "Jisung was just worried about you, and he was mainly concerned about letting you get through things one step at time. He didn't want to overwhelm you."

"How bad can it be? Can't you tell me?" He looks at you, but you don't respond as you're trying your very best to look at this under a different light. You're trying to see Jisung's reasoning, but you don't have anything to work with. No one wants to tell you exactly what happened. At least, no one was in a rush to.

Why?

"You should really talk to your friends." He gives you a very small, faint smile to try and reassure you somehow. He wishes he could tell you, he wishes he could ease whatever you're feeling right now. But, he thinks it's best for Minho and Jisung to take the reigns on this one. "Minho, especially."

A while ago, you and Atsumu had made plans to celebrate the end of finals week by taking a trip to a nearby town for the weekend. With the events from last night looming above you, that obviously isn’t happening so you pack your things and sneak out to make the earliest train to your hometown to escape potential confrontation.

There was a part of you that had hoped that Atsumu had camped outside your door the entire night to catch you and desperately apologize and beg you to stay. Shame burned at your cheeks when you scanned the entire hallway and found it empty and clear as it is any normal day.

With that, you speed off to the station before you can embarrass yourself any further.

The break at home is welcome. Not to say that you’re not still utterly heart-broken, but the reprieve from Atsumu is much needed, however short. You steel yourself for the inevitable encounter as you return to your apartment a week later, making sure to wipe any delusions of Atsumu waiting for you from your mind. Anticlimactically, you survive the short trek from your building entrance to your door in peace.

It’s much later, when you’re leaving for your first class of the semester that it finally happens. By now, you’ve had plenty of time to run all the possible scenarios and plan your respective responses. Predictably, he marches straight up to you when your eyes meet. You immediately move to avoid him but you must be equally predictable to him because he grabs hold of your wrist before you can put any more distance between you two.

“Where have you been,” he breathes.

Yep, you had thought through this scenario. This is manageable.

“Away from you,” you return evenly, trying to twist out of his grip.

He sucks in a breath at that, like you had just punched him in the gut. Not a bad idea.

“Baby-”

Pet names were scenario C of your imagination. Nothing you can’t handle.

“Don’t call me that,” you say, still trying to writhe away.

He tightens his hold and pulls you that much closer. This makes you stiffen up. You had thought of the physical contact route, but had no countermoves for his brute strength.

“Let go,” you seethe.

“Not until you let me apologize.”

“You can apologize all you want. I won’t accept anything, and nothing is going to change,” you recite your practiced lines.

Atsumu seems to be figuring out what is and isn’t working, and words aren’t, so he focuses his efforts on keeping his hands on you.

“What can I do, then?”

“Nothing,” you answer. “We were nothing anyway, so you don’t have to act like you owe me anything.”

You know you’re being cruel. But you just want to hurt him, make him feel what you felt.

It works because he clenches his teeth, jaw tightening.

“You know that’s not true.”

“Who cares if it isn’t? You clearly didn’t.”

He groans in frustration. “Why can’t you just- and why are you so-”

He’s talking in a frenzy, a mix of unfinished thoughts and voice raising in volume.

You’ve practiced a line that would end all this uncertainty. You’re late to class, you rationalize. This has to end so you can move on, you convince yourself.

Deep breath in.

“Miya,” you cut him off authoritatively. “There’s one thing you can do.”

His eyes widen; he thinks you’re throwing him a bone.

“Fuck off and stay away from me. I don’t want anything to do with you and nothing would make me happier than if I never saw you again.”

Shaky deep breath out. It’s fine, you’re fine, it doesn’t hurt. You’re imagining it. Your vision is blurring a little but you keep repeating it. It’s fine. You’re fine. It doesn’t hurt.

His grip on you releases, his hand dropping down at his side limply. It’s all going perfectly according to the scenarios you had run in your head. The tears in your eyes were not planned, but you’re fine. It’s fine. It doesn’t hurt.

The damage is done and you think you’re free to go, so you turn to make your way to class and leave him behind.

That’s when you’re yanked backwards, one arm winding all the way around your waist and another palm sliding under your chin. And suddenly, his lips are on yours.

hi! i have sort of a friendship breakup in my story, character a slowly fades out of character b’s life and eventually steals/passes off a piece of character b’s art as theirs. i didn’t want character b to have a revenge moment because i wanted it to reflect how in real life, sometimes you don’t get the revenge moment. the rest of the story feels somehow anticlimactic though. do you have any suggestions on how to improve it? thank you x

Story without Revenge Moment Feels Anticlimactic

In a story with the revenge moment, that would be the climax, so in a story without the revenge moment, you'll need to find something else to serve as the climax.

The climax of your story is the moment your character faces off against the story's conflict and either resolves it or fails to resolve it, once and for all. The conflict here would be the deteriorating relationship... the stolen art is a major complication of that deteriorating relationship.

Can the conflict be resolved by fixing the friendship, with the climax being the final attempt to do so? In the case of your story, it sounds like that's not your intention, so we'll say no.

Can the stolen art complication be resolved in some way as the climax? You don't want to do revenge, which is fine, but what are the other possibilities? One would be legal action, if applicable. For example, let's say Character B wrote a song and shared it with Character A, then Character A recorded and released the song and claimed to have written it themselves. So, Character B could sue Character A for copyright infringement, and their day in court would be the climax. Another possibility would be rather than taking legal action, Character B confronts Character A about the theft to give them an opportunity to make things right, then when they don't, B launches an increasingly aggressive social media campaign to try to get A to capitulate. The climax can be the last big push... the ace up B's sleeve that will either make A surrender or B will let it go. These are just a couple of possibilities, but hopefully one will work or they will help you see how you can still create a climax/resolution even without a revenge moment.

okay this is gonna be very long and extremely rambly and not very planned out ok? ok. spoilers under the cut

FINE. I LIKED IT. WHATEVER. hit me with a car.

obviously there were parts of it that i didn't like. obviously there were moments that i felt were out of character. nevertheless, i had a lot of fucking fun while reading it. i love nico and overall i'd say i'm happy with where the story leaves him. yes, this book's existence is extremely unnecessary. but i appreciate it for what it is.

okay let's get the main things i didn't like out of the way:

nico would NOT know who lil nas x is. also why was the montero music video mentioned in a book for middle schoolers.

i understand the role that nyx is meant to play in the story and the message of it but idk i kinda wish they did her character a bit differently. she really reminded me of white diamond from steven universe i'm so sorry.

speaking of nyx that WHOOOLE weird "our children" thing with nico and the cacodemons. that made me very uncomfortable.

last nyx complaint the final confrontation with her ended pretty anticlimactically. kinda like with gaea, it felt like the way to defeat her was a little too simple. but y'know i haven't really been satisfied by a final battle since tlo so. that's just how it is.

it felt like will was kiiiiinda useless for a lot of it. obviously he was important for the story but i wish they had let him do some more cool stuff besides occasionally shooting some light lasers. i get he's a healer but why didn't he bring a WEAPON??? like at the very least he could have had a bow or a knife. y'know we haven't really had a character who uses a blunt force weapon as their main one besides hedge. i would've liked to see will with just a baseball bat or something LMAO.

kind of an add-on to the last one i think that will was nerfed wayyy too much. it makes sense that the underworld would weaken him, but it sometimes felt like they were stopping every five minutes to let him rest. we've seen before that he's quite strong and athletic, i just feel like he should've had a bit more stamina.

there were a few dialogue moments that sounded like they came from some extremely online gay teenager and not nico and will. "bisexual chaos" haunts me. he would not fucking say that.

NO HAZEL APPEARANCE and NO REYNA MENTION. this is the worst one.

i feel like tartarus should've been more physically dangerous. like they fought some monsters here and there and the terrain was hard to navigate but most of the dangers that they dealt with were more mental/emotional. you could argue that we got the physical danger from percy and annabeth's journey so that's why this one focuses more on the mental danger and i could see why you'd think that. but idk sometimes it felt like it was a little toooo easy y'know.

there were some parts of the backstories and flashbacks that were inconsistent with the previous books, like nico saying he spent weeks at camp half blood when he first arrived when he was actually there for only one. but continuity errors are just par for the course with these books at this point so it honestly doesn't bother me too much. we make our own canon.

i'm not a fan of the name cocoa puffs. i feel like they could've come up with something better.

i'm sure there are more that i'm forgetting, but those are my main gripes. okay now onto the things that i liked!!!!

the book was fun. it was just fun. there were some jokes that i genuinely laughed at and there weren't really any points that felt like a slog to read through. i was pretty consistently entertained the whole time.

WILL AND NICO WERE CUTE OKAY. THEY WERE CUTE. maybe this is just 12-year-old me talking but i sincerely found their relationship very sweet. it's abundantly clear how much they both care about each other and what they're willing to do to protect each other. they mean a lot to me okay.

i want to specifically draw attention to the part where it was revealed that nico gave will his skull ring and now he wears it on a necklace. absolutely devastated me. changed my life. people died. in a good way.

I LOVEDDDD the tension and conflict that will and nico had between them for most of the book. it made their relationship so much more believable to me! they haven't even been together for a year! they're complete opposites! they had very different upbringings! they're in an INCREDIBLY STRESSFUL AND DANGEROUS SITUATION in an environment that is literally designed to dig up their biggest frustrations and insecurities! they're going to clash and have fights and have very different worldviews that they need to work through. that doesn't make them a bad couple like i've seen some people say. tell me you've never had a loved one say something hurtful or ignorant to you. tell me you've never said something hurtful or ignorant to a loved one. you can't! because you have! but if you love each other you talk about it and work through it and try your best to understand each other!!!!!!

adding to the last one i like how the conflict got resolved by will realizing he needs to put in more effort to understand nico and nico realizing he needs to open up more to allow will to understand him. open and honest communication and a willingness to be vulnerable babey!!! if you want to be loved you have to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known!!!!!!!

I LOVED. THE DREAM SEQUENCES. they all went so hard. some of them were downright disturbing. good shit.

even if they had some continuity errors, i enjoyed the flashback scenes and the backstories. we got quite a lot more than i thought we would. i was not expecting to see the entirety of nico's first journey through tartarus. it hurt me a lot.

i think it's cute they're making it canon that nico and will knew of each other since pjo. they were in each other's orbit before they even knew it. it actually got me thinking about some of my own relationships. i have a friend i knew back when i was 4 who i completely forgot about for years, only for us to reconnect by chance when we were 12 and be best friends ever since. i have a friend who was a vague acquaintance of mine for years, but then one day we somehow started talking more and now they're one of the closest friends i've ever had. idk. something about meeting someone once at the wrong time and then again at the right one.

nico was very cool. he was also a massive dweeb. he can do both. i love him.

i like the cacodemons as a very literal metaphor for learning to live with your trauma and the "worst" parts of yourself. celeste vibes dare i say. also nico just has a bunch of lil guys following him around now and i think that's neat.

fuck man. i like seeing nico be happy. i like seeing him in a happy relationship with someone he loves and who loves him just as much. i like that he's still learning to let go of his grief and move on. i like that he's hopeful at the end of the book that he can actually find happiness. he's always been one of the most tragic characters in the pjo-verse and it's so nice to see him just being HAPPY.

despite how hard to believe it was i did really like the little dream scene with the whole di angelo family. nico got to talk to bianca and maria one last time, he got to hug his dad, he finally got to rest for a bit. it was very cathartic and i maybe cried.

this book's message was very clearly for young queer kids who don't have everything figured out yet. you're allowed to change. you don't have to always be one thing. your past doesn't define you. you can find love. you can have hope. no matter how badly written you believe the story is, no matter how inconsistent you believe the characterization is, it's hard to deny how important these messages are and how badly some kids need to hear them. if the book has one redeeming quality, it's this.

so. yeah. i liked it. i had a good time. there's more that i could say but i would honestly just end up adding onto this forever. people who don't like the book have plenty of valid reasons to feel that way, even if i may not agree with some of them. at the end of the day, this story and these characters are not real. please be nice to each other and try not to take things too seriously. we're all just a bunch of late teens and young adults reading a book series for middle schoolers, and i think that's beautiful. thank you for reading if you actually made it this far, i know it was a lot. peace and love on planet earth.

My thoughts for the last episode [Spoilers]:

---The beginning(approximately 5 minutes) was paced quite decent, they manage to cramp the Collector's development in all of that and it kinda works because the guy was never bad, just innocent and unaware of the bad things they had done.

---Belos as a whole was spectacular. The bastard really lives up to his expectations. And as a villain, he is one of my favorite characters by far. Possessing the Titan? We saw it coming, and they execute quite well for my perspective.

---They pull out an Anne Bounchoy in reverse here. They killed Luz to bring her back in an overpowering form. Not sure how to feel about that one. On one hand, it was a beautiful and climatic final confrontation. On the other, It undermines Luz's own achievements by giving her what she needs instead of finding it herself. Yet, I can see why they choose to do this, is just cool and considerating what she was against what else was she supposed to do?

---They really give Raine a protagonistic role on this, not unwelcome but feels a little out of the blue. Still their inclusion and relevance feels organic enough as to not to feel oppressive.

---The Hexsquad and Camila really get sideline in this one! Like, they weren't even relevant through the whole episode! Truth be told, they got more than enough development from the last episodes so I can understand why that was the case. Eda and King deserved and needed a lot of screen time to compensate for their lack of relevance through the third season. Still... Something like Hunter being present for Belos's death or Camila's reaction to Luz's "death" would have been a welcome addition

---The Collector leaving was to some extent unexpected and personally unnecessary. They kist learn a lot in a couple hours and them just leaving instead of staying and learning more feels kinda anticlimactic, let Eda be the mother's figure they need!

---The conclusion was just as expected, reunions after reunions, what else was meant to happen? It worked perfectly and it was quite a peaceful and hopeful resolution. And Luz losing glyphs magic was the perfect bittersweet closure to it. With the true death of the Titan, it makes sense that she would lose said magic, a noble sacrifice.

---Time Skips... Honestly, I hate those for a lot of reasons. Especially if they take place through multiple years. Luz's quinciallera a couple days/weeks should have been the ending, allow everyone's family to gather to celebrate together, give us as many small interactions as possible

-Vee hugging Camila and Luz upon their return and for the former to call them mom and sister

-Eda and Camila's proper introduction to one another (and the latter's reaction to harpy Eda)

-Have Lilith just randomly getting harpy form just for the giggles (the owl beast is just that happy)

-Have Hunter together with Vee, and King during the final parts of the Quinciañera giving Luz a tearful speech about how much she changed their lives for the better (They are siblings!)

-Willow and Hunter could ask at the same time to become partners (Maybe the same with Matt and Gus?)

-Have more and more people coming through the portal to see Luz (She changed a lot of lives after all)

---Basically, let the audience materialize their own far-away future. Time skips have the drawback of leaving too much development in between. Using one for Thanks to Them was understandable. But here it feels unnecessary. Instead of Luz's incoming stay on college, let's us see a open ending focus on showing us the many adventures and mysteries left unresolved, letting your audience's imagination go rampant with everything that was left to cover and wish for more!

Still, just because I have my own opinion and vision doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the episode. Although the shortening will forever taint my joy for the show, eternally wishing to see the missing potential we never got to see... I love it and nothing will change that.

Watched: 12.05.2023

It’s so basic, but so good.

There is exactly nothing innovative about this show. Typical exaggeration of the unfair social structures currently existing in the world, typical villain with selfish motivations, typical hero with personal story. And yet, I had so much fun watching.

I would agree that the world buildup and storytelling is rather vague - lacks the details on how the society truly works, what are the motivations of all the characters and groups. Some do things because they are good people, some because they are selfish or desperate, some scared, sometimes (most of the time) it’s personal story or revenge, but we don’t really get a proper and more elaborate exploration and explanation - neither about the past, present nor the future.

I might be in the minority here, but it honestly did not bother me at all. I think with post-apocalyptic stories, I actually prefer when a lot of things are left with a question mark that I have to think about and find the answers for myself. For me, the process of filling the gaps with my own ideas is actually a part of the entertainment. All that consider, I can see how others might view it as a rather big flaw.

The performances were great. Do I think they will be remembered for a long time? No, since the characters were not exactly that complex and well written. That said, the actors did a phenomenal job with delivering performances that made the characters seem real and cohesive, even if the writing was rather imprecise. The brotherhood between 5-8 and Sa Wol was both entertaining and low key heartwarming - all thanks to good on screen chemistry between Kim Woo Bin and Kang Yoo Seok.

Being a fan of Song Seung Heon, it was rather disappointing how little acting this man had to do. Probably one of the weakest aspects of the show performances wise, and it’s all on the character’s writing and not the actor himself. Since the character was rather boring, I honestly don’t think anyone could make him stand out more.

Directing wise, everyone should look at this drama as a great example on how to end episodes - these were true cliffhangers that made you curious! I honestly could not stop watching. Binge watched all 6 episodes with just pee breaks.

What’s more, the pacing is great. They don’t focus unnecessarily on unimportant bits, highlighting the scenes that matter the most. Sadly, the final confrontation was a let down. It ended before I could even register what’s going on and I was left with the thought: that’s it? Well, that’s anticlimactic.

As for the production - I loved the set design. You know what is one of the most ridiculous things in post-apocalyptic and sci-fi shows? The over the top complex designs. The world is shattered, people would lean towards the simplicity that would be cost efficient, except for the rich elites who would try to pretend the reality is either the same it was in the past, or not as bad as it truly is. We got just that here - simplicity for the poor, trying to maintain the idea of normal life for the rich.

For the negatives - the show is really dark during some scenes. Yes, in context it makes sense, but you still need to think about your audience and not just the realism of the situation. Watching just a black screen is not entertaining. If you make it impossible to see, you can as well just make it into an audio book. That problem mostly existed in the first two episodes and lighting got a lot better later on. There were a few scenes that managed to create a beautiful picture just with the right lighting in the right spot.

A small bit that got me laughing - truly questionable blood splashes during the fight scenes. The gun wounds were fine, but the poorly animated CGI blood during fist fights was just comical.

Overall, I had a blast watching. It can be both: brainless entertainment and a start for some conversations and reflections about social issues and structures as it reflects our reality rather well.

I’m very mixed on the quarry ending because thinking about it like an actual horror movie, it feels very short and anticlimactic. Could part of the silas final confrontation be that they were trying to mix it up and make it so that the player thought more about their choices instead of having a big battle? I can understand that to some degree. I just feel like in most horror movies with monsters there is at least some type of dramatic final battle, and for him it feels like it isn’t as big as it should be. Idk how i feel about none of the councilors meeting up at the end if they survive either. I can’t say every slasher movie even does that. If nothing else I think the max and laura meeting at the end is the best, but you can’t even get that in every ending where they both survive. Which is weird to me because the game STARTS with them, there should really be some/more closure to their story. Like after killing Silas in every ending I would think they would want to include Laura meeting up with Max since basically everything she did in this game was to save him....If i had it my way i would have Max at the scene with Laura and Travis to kill Silas instead of Ryan...? Like Ryan and Laura were a weird combo to be the people to finish off the story when it didn’t exactly start with Ryan. He should have been with the other characters and the climax should have been reserved for the beginning protags

[SPOILERS] My Opinion on the Story of FE Warriors: Three Hopes Routes

Disclaimer: There are spoilers. I am not an expert on writing.

That secret chapter doesn't have nearly as much affect on the story as I thought it should have. I felt the rivalry between Byleth and Shez was underutilized. Even the secret chapter's fight felt underwhelming and anticlimactic. And I agree with a lot of the sentiment I’ve seen. I think Shez as a whole is underutilized. They can get a lot more usage out of their backstory like who raised them and how they became the vessel of

Another problem I have is with missing support conversations (there are a lot). I wish they could all go to "A" considering they don't even write dialogue for some of them. It feels like it limits the number of pairings I can make which is ironic considering how everything else can be customized. But there are some missing dialogue supports too. Especially new or DLC characters lack supports. I didn't feel as much incentive to use some units because they only had supports with a couple of characters. Because of those reasons, cohesion felt like an issue sometimes.

Azure Gleam felt like it fell off during the second half. It had really good build-up until that point then it kind of just stopped the momentum. Since Dimitri didn't have that same mental breakdown, it got rid of a lot of the tension (which is understandable, but they needed to replace it with something of the same value). At the same time, it showed a lot more cohesiveness between the students with a lot more interactive supports. It was great that they added some more stuff of the childhood friend group actually helping each other through their problems, but I feel like for everything Azure Moon did right, Azure Gleam forgets and fixes something else. That last chapter was the biggest letdown for me. Especially if you get that extra chapter, it makes the least sense to put that same final animated cutscene which kinda betrayed how they wrote Dimitri's character to be a righteous, forgiving person. Leaving Edelgard like that when he knows some extent of what she went through felt like a slap in the face. I understand that people said it was because she wouldn't be allowed to live if she was seen by Rhea, but an extra scene after where he comes back to her and promises to get help for her would've made a world of difference (since leaving her in a amnesiac state would probably be against his morals). It would've added more of a conclusion to his story. Overall, Azure Gleam is just confirming what Three Houses implied, but the characters actually figure it out this time.

I personally think that the other two routes were a lot better written this time around. Scarlet Blaze finally got around to tackling Those Who Slither In The Dark which fixes my biggest gripe with Crimson Flower, and Claude finally got to confront (and destroy) the church in his own way which did something that Verdant Wind couldn't. In a way, I wish Golden Wildfire explored Almyra more and maybe Dagda too for that matter. Not everything needs to take place in Fodlan, you know? I feel like Scarlet Blaze should've included more cooperation with forces outside of Fodlan too. Maybe promises with Sreng and Brigid could've turned the tides since both had motives to work with the Empire. I've heard that some people don't like Claude's characterization in this game, but I think it makes exponentially more sense than his portrayal in Three Houses. In 3H, he felt like an extra add-on in a route that was essentially Silver Snow, but this time he feels like a character who has just as much baggage as the other two do. You get to see how cunning and ruthless he can be. He felt a bit similar to Edelgard at times, but it made sense in context so I'll let it slide.

Again, I don't think any of these points would improve the story. This is just food for thought.

Ok before I start spam reblogging stuff here is my take on the ST ending.

It was shit. I have already accidently seen people mentioning the terrible writing for Robin and Vickie, who are apparently the same exact person, as well as the how badly written Eddie's death was. But as a whole I am incredibly disappointed at the arc written for El, and above all how Max's death was handled.

The beginning of the season starts off with El being bullied and not fitting in, and this theme continues in her flashbacks. We do not get any closure on this theme and it is never addressed after she leaves NINA. She also watches her abuser die, and this seemingly has no affect on her at all. In her final confrontation with Vecna, she offers almost zero response even though he blames her for what is happening. Also, after the whole "bitchin" arc, and the arc of how "boys don't matter", it is undermining that what motivates her to finally defeat Vecna is that her boyfriend told her he loved her. She does not learn self acceptance or self worth from within. The solution to "you are different and it's bad" is "but your boyfriend loves you". This was quite pathetic to me.

The main issue I have with the end of the season is how they handled Max's death. First, this was Max's season. She was the MVP. She is vital to the plot all the way through, the main dramatic song of this season is her song. This was her story. In the end it was her sacrifice. She was the one who offered and faced Vecna head on. However, she is not given any mourning. El saving her, but then not really saving her, and the apocalypse still happening made bringing her back to life pretty much arbitrary. If she had just died the same events would have happened. The least they could do is honour her death and sacrifice, allow people to grieve her. I think the entire structure of the ending was shit. But the tone that it was in was so wrong in that Max wasn't given the right appreciation. Even though most of the characters never think she actually died, the audience experienced her death. Undercutting with a revival, then it showing it didn't work, just throws off the tone for the entire ending. Why isn't everyone sad, Max died! But I guess she didn't. Giving her a proper death would have been more emotionally poignant.

Edit: I forgot about the fucking letters I am so mad. Imagine if she had died and then everyone got to read her letters. At least that would have been a good emotional ending. At least that would give her the deserved attention and allow characters to grieve her. I am so fucking mad. The fucking letters.

On other stuff (this is just pure complaining): The structure of the ending was so bad. The cut to "2 days later" was so anticlimactic. There wasn't even a come down or explanation of anything. Everyone was in the upside down, with Max dying, or in the USSR. And then it just cuts to everyone is back together and fine. Do Joyce and Hopper know that Max died? If they had ended the season on Max's death, the season would have actually finished on a strong note. What that ending was..... Ugh. Also wow gay people can't be happy at ALL. And also why did they make El so weak this season, and why. Like she lost her powers and it meant a lot. She gains them and . Everything's suddenly back to normal. Why did she have a self confidence arc last seasons for them to write in a no self confidence arc that is never even resolved. Why are they writing Steve and Nancy back together. Why did they pretty much write Jonathan and Lucas out. Why did they kill Eddie. Why was the ending so shit. Fuck you duffer brothers.

QUICK update on the end of tng season 1 since i didn't have time last night. yesterday i watched "we'll always have paris" and then last night we also caught "conspiracy" and "the neutral zone."

we'll always have paris: NOT as bad as i feared. i did think picard making eyes at his ex for 20 minutes while her husband was dying in sickbay was kind of shitty of both of them but i REALLY liked the time distortion. it was soooo spooky and cool the elevator thing genuinely wigged me the fuck out

EVERY time picard tells data to stop talking i want to kill him <3

i'm surprised beverly didn't have a moment at the end where picard like offered her a kind word or something to help her with her Problems this episode but actually all she did was tell deanna she didn't want to talk about it and that was the end. ik it's doing her dirty but i actually respect her for that. none of anybody's business. i wish she'd stop crushing on picard though i feel like she could do better

anyway data's big moment at the end was very cool. i trust him so much he's my best friend

anyway it's weird because this should have been the season finale, given that it was brought up multiple times previously. or maybe only one time?

also love and light captain picard is the DUMBEST bitch on the face of this earth or galaxy or whatever. what part of KEEP IT A SECRET did he not understand...first he told deanna dnt hen will and then his ENTIRE bridge crew and then he went to confront the bad guys directly! yes it worked out for him but sir what the fucj

i did like that starfleet guys were basically getting hullened. killjoys i miss you. liked it less that there were BUGS.

i LOVED the riker fakeout but unfortunately i was hiding my eyes during that part because again, bugs

were walker and wesley's dad and picard like the three musketeers of tos...was this the implication...man that sucks. i would have actually been interested in that relationship if they had bothered to comment on it at all

VERY exciting to see a vulcan again!! so unfortunate that he was hullened.

anyway, for the buildup it got the actual resolution felt anticlimactic and very easily solved and it WASN'T EVEN. the season finale. whatever, tng

the neutral zone: WE'RE SO BACK. i like how this whole episode was an excuse for the romulans to be like lol we're back. that's an extremely bad and dumb premise but good for them

those frozen bitches made me so mad. well just that one guy. i wanted picard to give him the business so bad. like when mike threw that fork in the bear. i don't even like picard and i would have been cheering him on. unfortunately he did not yell at the capitalist. even when the capitalist SNUCK ONTO THE BRIDGE.

guy with a southern accent did a good job. too good. don't like that

i felt the worst for the blonde woman bc she didn't ask for this but picard to will was like i need you to keep these people under control and he didn't and then he said to deanna i need to to keep these people undercontrol and then love and light she just hung out with this lady all episode. then when he was like (to security) gyet this man off the bridge they just stopped and stared at the romulans. what are we fucking doing on this ship

anyway even for all that data was right to revive them i can't believe so many people were incredulous that he wanted to do the compassionate thing and rescue a derelict vessel with human beings aboard. i thought starfleet was all about that shit?? jesus christ

anyway we are about to do "the child" and the summary looks bad so pray. pray.

Personally, I've never said that Will would be the only main character anyway. I just think that it makes more sense for him to be centered now because there is a lot of stuff that has to be addressed regarding his character. That does not mean I think Mike cannot get targeted whatsoever. But Will's plot points would get more focus because still do not know:

1- Why he was specifically targeted by Vecna in S1, and why was he specifically kept alive. Is it because he has powers or is there any other reason? 2- Why did he get possessed, and why wasn't he killed again. 3- The way he is still connected to Vecna, has to be addressed because it is ongoing since S1. 4- The obvious parallels between Vecna and Will have to be addressed, 5- Will's whole S1 and S2 have to be addressed. 6- Why is the UD stuck on the time Will went missing specifically. 7- If Will has powers, it it why he got targeted, and probably is that why the UD looks the way it looks, etc.

So it makes more sense for Will to get targeted narratively to address these narrative and plot points. That's not saying Mike cannot get targeted, but it is rather saying that he probably will not be the first person to get targeted rolling to S5's beginning.

Yeah honestly I'm in agreement with that, when it comes to Vecna, we can presume the only reason he would even target Mike is to get to Will.

Though, we've also seen that he's calculated.

Every action he does, he is thinking ten steps ahead.

Yes it's about getting to Will, but that doesn't mean that all it takes is targeting Will and that's that.

They didn't need to 'waste' their time having Vecna confronting random teenagers with trauma, specifically with Max and then Nancy?? But they did. Because Vecna has his own arcs with all these other characters that are merely pieces in his little game, with all the trauma he's caused them. And it all ties into what he wants in the end.

Vecna confronting Mike in the final season, after keeping the audience in the dark for so long about his inner feelings, is a writers dream, because it's a little too perfect.

This is a TV show, which means certain things have to happen to make the story interesting and engaging and exciting. And that's why a lot of fans predict Mike will be targeted. Because why if Will is what Vecna wanted this whole time and that's all there is to it, couldn't he just go for it and get it over with?

Because this is a story and those sorts of things take time to build up to, and it wouldn't be very interesting if it was all resolved right from the jump.

In the moment, Vecna's choices might feel random, but in the grand scheme of things, we're starting to see it's all for a greater reason?

S5 is going to have ups and downs, and I think Will being targeted by Vecna in some capacity is inevitable and it's bound to happen multiple times in s5. Though I also think some other confrontations are due. And if Max was worth targeting because of her guilt over Billy and Nancy because of her guilt over Barb (both involving Vecna himself), then yes I do think it makes sense for Mike, the og protagonist, who has guilt tied to the other two og mains, Will and El, also tied to Vecna, to have some sort of confrontation with him.

I don't think it will start and end with Mike interacting with Vecna though, by no means is this the biggest plot point to s5, because I do think it all goes back to Will regardless of the different things that happen along the way leading up to that confrontation.

However I do think it will be one of the major plot twists for the overall audience because it is super unexpected.

And I do think it makes more sense for them to save the biggest confrontation for Vecna and Will for the end of s5, because if they did it in the beginning it would feel sort of anticlimactic to repeat it in the end.

And so, what makes more sense is to yet again create the semplence of a confrontation between Vecna and Will, maybe even go there, but still not fully go there... And a confrontation with Vecna, potentially involving Mike, obviously affecting Will feels like a way to surprise an audience who is only expecting the Will part, and to also have that impact Will's character in a way that is going to make his confrontation in the end feel even more anticipating, despite it being entirely expected by the majority!

(Telling others about the system and finally clearing the air with Y'shtola along the way)

It was… anticlimactic even, speaking with Y'shtola – but maybe that was because he'd already gotten several easier chances to practice explaining this. There was still anxiety, a daunting sense of shame, and some extra fear unique to this being Y'shtola, but the worst of it had passed.

And she barely reacted to it. It wasn't even that she already knew, though it lined up well as an explanation to the things she'd become aware of. She just completely took it at face value.

“Might I have a list, if that is acceptable?”

S'ria couldn't believe she'd skipped straight from the explanation of him sometimes being a completely different person to just accepting and believing it immediately. That question was one he'd been a bit cagey about with everyone, though. On one hand, he didn't know if it was really okay to just give out names. On the other hand, a part of him feared that halfway through explaining these different individuals she would realize that he was being ridiculous.

It was mostly for those reasons that no single person knew the identity of everyone, and that was assuming he even could explain that in the first place. S'ria knew, uncomfortable as it was, that there remained gaps in his understanding of the situation – ones that perhaps another could answer, but he wanted to control how this conversation went himself.

S'ria made sure everyone knew of Fray – whether by name or not – but that had already been accomplished months ago. Even if different terms were used before he fully understood, they all knew sometimes things were very different when he fought and that he wouldn't remember much after. S'ria explained Fray to G'raha as well, in more detailed terms. He felt it was deserved, after the confrontation those two had had.

Beyond that, it varied from person to person. He supposed nothing would stop the Scions from comparing notes, if they really wanted to compile their knowledge. It was just… easier to only say a few things before stopping. It got overwhelming.

Maybe he'd make a diagram, if his letters were better.

Alphinaud knew about Menphina and Rose, and that was more than enough for now. He'd been gentle with his explanation of Rose's personality, but he suspected that Alphinaud may understand her as much as S'ria did.

Alisaie had asked about an incident out in Gyr Abania, and while S'ria neither remembered this nor properly had details, he did admit that it sounded like the child Fray had alluded to one or twice. She was allowed to know about Menphina, of course – the woman really did want to properly meet Alisaie one of these days.

Thancred had been a more…difficult conversation, even if he was very understanding about everything. S'ria spoke about Rose with him, despite the shame he felt whenever he thought about her nature and purpose for too long. Given how confused and concerned Thancred had been at “S'ria's” attempt to bed him, he at least deserved to know why it happened. (And as bad as it all felt to speak of, there was a part of him that was very glad to definitively explain how that wasn't him that initiated things that night.) S'ria also had some thoughts and suspicions on Rose's age but… Thancred didn't need to feel guilty over something that wasn't his fault.

(S'ria explained nothing to Ryne, speaking to Thancred alone. It was better for her not to know, when he wouldn't be here all that much longer anyway. He didn't want her to worry for him when he was gone.)

Urianger was a far easily person to speak to about this than S'ria had expected, aside from occasionally needing to think too long on deciphering a question. Perhaps years with the fae had fully deadened him to the idea of something being “odd”. Urianger heard the most from him – of Menphina, of the existence of a child, of that strange affectionate entity that the elezen had encountered that once.

S'ria didn't explain to any of them why he was like this, nothing of the handful of memories he'd unfortunately recovered… and S'ria expected everyone knew the parts that mattered by now anyway, long before he even had.

So that had just left Y'shtola. He'd put it off, but he still eventually found his way to her. Sitting in the cool air of her chamber, the soft sweep of an enchanted broom nearby, he'd finally gotten around to explaining.

And her only response had been a nod and a request for a list, and he'd probably been hesitating on an answer for too long by now. S'ria started to at least try to explain, Menphina had always been the safest to explain once people managed to look past her name, but the words caught in his throat. Ah. At least he'd told her what his mind did under stress, that was far more than before. Another attempt led to just the first sound of a letter and then nothing again.

“You're afraid… why?” The first part was a statement, not a question, but both were said in a careful tone.

S'ria wanted to protest that he was feeling something else, but he finally noticed the tremor in his hands and realized she might be right.

He also finally realized what the problem was. Luckily, those words came out more easily.

“You don't hate me anymore, and you aren't judging me for this yet. If I keep talking, what if one or both of those things change?”

Y'shtola's eyebrows climbed their way up her forehead. “Hate you? Wherever did you get that idea?”

“We got along just fine for a few weeks and you were nice to me, and then for nearly two years you were radiating hostility. Even here, on the First… I don't blame you for it, you were right, but you were the first to assume the Light’s corruption was affecting me.” S'ria made very determined eye contact with the teacup on the table in front of him, trying to put the feeling of his near-transformation into a Lightwarden out of mind.

Y'shtola briefly dropped her face into her hands. “Gods, that's why you never come to me for anything.” She straightened up and shook her head, quickly returning to her more well-collected self. “Hatred was never it. It was nothing more than mutual mistrust. You had every right to keep personal matters to yourself, but things that affected all of the Scions I'd considered a different situation – you never trusted any of us with the critical gaps in your memory until far too late, even as they became problematic for both your safety and ours – and I felt the need to keep you at arm’s length.”

“Oh.” S'ria did his best to work around the guilt welling up in his chest. “I started it. I suppose I can't really be upset with you, then?”

Y'shtola shrugged subtly. “Who’s to say? Mayhap I was more callous than I'd intended to be, and for that I do genuinely ask for your forgiveness.”

“...and I as well. At some point it just felt like it'd been too long to say anything, that it was too late to admit it, I guess. I had thought the situation under control until the incident with Zenos, I truly did not know that there were often problems resulting from Fray and I switching places." He winced, recalling how Lyse had described Fray's occasional lack of regard for safety. "When did you realize?”

“I do hope that this is not outright insulting to hear – but I began to suspect immediately after your first battle with Ifrit that you did not remember quite a chunk of that time.”

S'ria's shoulders dropped. “You caught it literally the first time it happened after joining the Scions, I see. Two years. Gods, I must've seemed an ass, from your perspective.”

Y'shtola smiled. “And I, from yours, I suspect. Mayhap we can simply start over?”

S'ria nodded and finally lifted his eyes from the table again. “I think that would be for the best.” He blinked, trying to recall a lost thought, back to earlier in the conversation. “...did you still want that list, then?”
