Your First Kiss - BTS Scenarios

Kim Namjoon:

So far the night has been perfect. Namjoon and you went out for your fourth date; a late night picnic by the river followed by a walk around the area talking into the night. Neither one of you wanted to separate just yet so when your house appeared at the end of the road you pulled on his arm leading him away. Namjoon too walked slower, stopping in the middle of the pathway to point out something completely random.

You leaned into Namjoon’s side reaching to take his hand into your own. He smiled down at you adjusting his hand in yours so your fingers fit perfectly with his.

‘’Y/n, umh this has been very nice so far.’’ Namjoon said, a shy smiled pulling at his lips. You looked at him, his cheeks were flushed and he was avoiding your eyes looking to the sides of the road.

You noticed a pattern by now, every time you got to the end of your date Namjoon would suddenly turn shy, like a flower closing in on itself, you never guessed why.

‘’It was very nice indeed, I can’t wait for next Wednesday I’m sure you’ll like what I have planned.’’ You chirped absentmindedly bringing your joined hands to your chest.

Namjoon stopped in the middle of the road causing you to stumble in your step. You looked at him and the way his gaze fixated on his hand intertwined with yours resting in the middle of your chest. You looked down at your hands, a sudden heat tingling your back as you realised just how closely you kept his hand trapped to yourself.

You looked back at him. His lips were slightly parted and if you were to lean closer you could hear his soft breaths and if you leaned your head on his chest you could hear the racing beat of his heart. Maybe it was the way his eyes seemed glazed over with thoughts you’ll never hear or maybe it was the simplicity of his being making your entire body flare up with remedying light, like the first shine of the sun appearing from behind dark clouds of a storm reassuring you that everything will be okay, or maybe it was both, maybe something else entirely, but all of it made you aware how badly you wanted him, needed him to touch you, hold you and speak nothing and everything as long as you got to hear him.

You didn’t feel your feet lifting off the ground, you didn’t hear the world around you, the only thing in focus was him and his hand slipping around you waist closing the aching space between you. Then there was the warmth of his skin, the scent of him filling every edge of your brain and then there was one last gasp of breath heard somewhere in the back of your mind as you crashed your lips into his surrendering yourself to the complete bliss that shook your world like a supernova. You kissed him and you knew that you couldn’t say goodbye to this night, not when his hand pressed into your back supporting your body as he deepened the kiss as if there were miles between your lips and his he was desperate to close, not when he pulled your hand that was still intertwined with his to press into his own chest instead of yours.

Kim Seokjin:

‘’We’ve barely been in a relationship for three days and you’re already breaking up with me?’’ You asked crossing your arms over your chest as you stared down at your boyfriend who was plastered to his bed.

‘’Well I’m sorry, what do you want me to say?’’ Seokjin argued huffing as he rolled on his back so he could look at you.

‘’That you’re not breaking up with me because I lost at Mario Kart?’’ You asked poking his forehead.

‘’My finger slipped, S-L-I-P-P-E-D.’’ You exclaimed exasperated. You guessed that this is what you get when you start dating your best friend. Seokjin wrapped his fingers around your wrist pulling you onto the bed. You laid down beside him pulling at his arm to use it as a pillow.

‘’My girlfriend is so bad at gaming, how did this happen to me?’’ Seokjin fake cried into the mattress of the bed. You rolled your eyes pinching his arm lightly. He looked at you and began to laugh.

‘’What now?’’ You asked incredulously.

‘’You’re adorable,’’ Seokjin said softly. You stuck your tongue out at him and rolled on your side to face away from him.

‘’Hey don’t do that,’’ Your boyfriend whined as he wrapped his arm around your waist trying to pull you back to face him.

‘’Y/n’’ Seokjin said your name as a final warning, and before you knew it you were flipped onto your back with Seokjin hovering over you straddling your legs.

‘’Don’t ignore me.’’ He pouted.

‘’Don’t threaten to break up with me.’’ You retorted. Seokjin laughed falling on top of you, burying his face into your neck.

‘’I could never do that. Now that I have you I will never let you go.’’ He spoke softly letting his lips brush against your neck. Your entire body seemed to shake with shivers running down every inch of your skin.

Seokjin brought his face up to look at you.

‘’Are you okay?’’ He asked looking into your eyes, and god did his gaze do things to you. Your chest tightened and your heart strained against your ribcage.

‘’Kiss me.’’ You said.

And so he did, without hesitation or a second thought. He kissed you and it was everything and more.

Your entire body went into sensory overload, you could feel every touch of his. The way his hand sneaked to the back of your head to lift your face closer to his, the way his fingertips danced at the edges of your waist. You could feel every inch of his mouth exploring your own, you could feel the goose-bumps on the back of his neck that your own fingers brushed against but most importantly you could feel the complete and utter love and sincerity that he brought into the kiss, the promise and the passion, the unquestionable surrender to your heart. You were happy to respond with just as much love, with your own promises and your own surrender.

Once you pulled away, cursing the air for being a necessity, you looked up at the man gazing down at you.

‘’I’m definitely not letting you go.’’ He smiled through a shuddering breath of his words.

‘’Don’t worry, I won’t let you.’’ You laughed reaching to pull him back in.

Min Yoongi:

The concept of time has become non-existent to you, you couldn’t tell when the day began and when it ended. The only thing occupying your head was the wide framed canvas begging constant attention from your paint brushes and the mix of colours not only decorating every inch of your workspace but your hands and clothes too. It was a tough project, but it had to be done and it had to be done well.

And of course, Yoongi understood that, more than anyone else. He understood that important work demanded a lot of your time and effort, however, he also knew that important work should not be prioritised before your health. That’s exactly what had him worried, the fact that you didn’t seem to take as much care of yourself as he wanted you to.

You’ve been friends for quite some time, you were both keenly aware of the fact that your friendship meant something more to the both of you. There were things keeping you apart, things that you couldn’t pinpoint but still prevented you from being together. That was the inspiration for your art piece, you doubted anyone would be able to tell unless they were you, felt what you felt and thought as you did. Caught up in your work you ignored the strain in your wrist and the ache in your back…the ringing of your phone too. You just kept going.

After what felt like an eternity of the same declining sound of your phone Yoongi decided to go and see you. He didn’t hesitate to step into your apartment, he only stalled to wonder if it’s his job to do this. He’s not your boyfriend after all. But he is your friend and that’s what friends do.

Yoongi creept into your room, stopping when he finally reached you where you slept with your knees drawn to your chest and your head resting on your arms that you hugged yourself with. You looked so peaceful even if the disarray of colours staining your cheeks and your under nails spoke chaos.

Yoongi glimpsed at the canvas. He couldn’t recognise the feeling that rushed over his heart. There were quite a few songs in his life that managed to capture exactly what he felt, what he thought, it seemed strange for feelings to have sound, and now looking at the work of your heart painted so beautifully upon the canvas he felt like that again, this was your own song and he could hear it in the colours and the detail and the strokes that the canvas contained.

He leaned down to look at you, just to look at you. He couldn’t wait anymore, he didn’t want to. He leaned closer and then he paused as your eyes peeled open with an obvious struggle. Yoongi smiled as a look of confusion washed over your face before it shifted into a smile similar to his.

‘’Can I kiss you?’’ Yoongi asked in a helpless whisper. You only nodded in response as you untangled yourself from your chair and sunk into his lap, finally surrendering yourself to your feelings and letting go of unknown fears.

Yoongi held you, bringing you closer with every gasp that echoed through the room, savouring the taste of you and the feeling of you in his arms. Just like in the painting.

When you finally parted, taking in the air your lungs craved but wish it didn’t for breathing felt like wasted time keeping you from kissing him forever, you knew that this was more beautiful than anything you could ever paint and more real and magical than anything he could ever write.

Jung Hoseok:

‘’And so I said to her that no I don’t work here so there is absolutely nothing I can do for you even if I wanted to, but obviously I didn’t want to do anything for her considering her attitude,’’ You huffed and yelled pacing around his room while your boyfriend sat on the edge of his bed with his elbows on his knees trying his best to pay attention to everything you were saying. Which was an effort really considering how fast you were talking.

He also tried his best to keep the smile threatening to spill locked inside. He was fully aware that you were frustrated with what happened to you today but you were also so completely adorable stomping around the place with your eyes blown out in disbelief that Hoseok had to initially cover his mouth with his hand, his smile becoming too much of an effort to hide.

‘’She was so rude Hoseok like really I lost count of how many times I had to tell her I don’t work there.’’ You exclaimed falling onto the bed next to him. You crossed your arms against your chest biting your lip.

Hoseok looked to your side willing himself not to smile. He poked at your lip with his finger to get you to stop biting it.

‘’I’m sorry you had to deal with that love.’’ He tried to console you rubbing at your hands. You leaned on his shoulder playing with his fingers. Hoseok smiled at how gently you held his hands, unlike the force you used to throw the pillow at the wall earlier on.

‘’I just don’t understand why people are like this you know,’’ You began again and Hoseok suppressed a laugh as you let go of his hands and stood up to pace again.

‘’Does it really hurt them to be nice, it’s not that hard and-‘’ Whatever you were about to say next was lost in the void with no chance of return.

The only thing that occupied your head right now was static energy electrifying every single corner of your brain while your legs trembled and your heart drummed wildly against your ribs.

And there was also Hoseok, who in a moment of unexplainable surge of adoration leapt from his bed and taking your face in between his hands kissed you hard enough that every bit of anger and annoyance got replaced with a warm glee that cascaded down your body as if you’ve been submerged under a twenty-foot wave of pure affection.

As his lips parted from yours and Hoseok let his hands fall from your face to his sides, you just stared at him, his flushed face, glazed eyes and the trembling smile that didn’t seem to know whether it wanted to laugh or cry. Hoseok did not expect your first kiss to go quite like this, but now that it happened he was speechless.

‘’Woah-umh-ah-I-I…hah.’’ Hoseok stuttered as he stood still not quite daring to look at you. You stepped closer to him so your bodies touched. You took his hands in yours and guided them back to your face. Hoseok watched you lead him and listened to you when you whispered ‘Come here’ letting his lips meet yours again.

Park Jimin:

You were cleaning the table after your breakfast with Jimin, humming as you did so. You swiped away the crumbs and placed the dishes in the sink, you could wash them later. You kept humming voicing the few words you knew to the song out loud.

Jimin after washing up quickly made his way back to the kitchen where he saw you smiling to yourself while your feet shuffled on the cold floor and your hands moved about cleaning the space. The entire scene was too domestic and lovely for Jimin, he couldn’t help the small smile that pulled on his lips or prevent the crimson heat that bloomed on his cheeks.

He watched you move about just for a bit more, appreciating the sight in front of him with his whole heart, then he moved to your side slipping his arms around your waist. You startled but not a second later you relaxed into his comforting touch.

This was the first time for Jimin to spend an entire night at your place, your relationship was fairly new, neither of you ever felt the need to rush things. Rushing felt like a crime, especially when you wanted every single moment with him to last forever.

You turned around to face Jimin, an army of butterflies fluttered inside your chest and your ears burned with a sort of embarrassment. Being so close to Jimin was never a problem, but the way he looked at you and the way he held you, the very air in between you froze with heat. His eyes so bright and full of love spoke every promise of a happy future and his hands resting on your back swore to protect everything that made you.

Lost in the moment, in him, you didn’t feel your head move to closer to his, you didn’t notice the decreasing distance between your lips not until the very touch of them melted your bones. Even with your eyes closed, light shone in every corner of the dissipating darkness.

It was soft and beautiful and gentle and patient and it made everything around you a distant blur.

Jimin pulled away, his lips were still parted and his breath shuddered as he breathed in. His eyes were hazy and his cheeks were red. But it was there, somewhere on his face, he found the confirmation he wanted.

You woke from your own daydream, because that’s what it felt like, a daydream. The ones where you’re pulled out of with a shout from reality and even when your body heats with embarrassment your heart cannot feel an ounce of guilt for the pleasure that your dream has brought you. Except for this reality, with Jimin, was a dream unlike any other.

You laughed unable to hide the happiness. Jimin smiled broadly after licking his lips, his eyes hid for a moment as he tried to get himself to focus on you and tell you he loved you, but the words could not come out, he could not stop smiling.

‘’I know Jimin. I love you too.’’ You said, and as you told him what he could never tire of hearing his eyes sparked with a different flame. Desire. Passion. Love.

And so you didn’t falter when Jimin reached to cup your face and pull you back against him. You didn’t pull away as your lips danced with the fire in your hearts, and you didn’t stumble when Jimin led you to your room.

Kim Taehyung:

Walking to the nearest convenience store to buy some ramen after confessing your love to your long-time crush who immediately asked you to be his might not be the most romantic thing you could have done, but considering it’s one in the morning true romantic adventures will have to wait.

‘’The weather is nice, isn’t it? it’s perfect, you’re perfect, this is great, yes.’’ You exclaimed making Taehyung laugh.

‘’Y/n are you nervous?’’ Taehyung asked as he sat down on the ground pulling your hand to get you to sit down next to him.

‘’I’m not nervous, I’m just uh well you know.’’ You waved your hands in the air as if you could spell your feelings there.

The truth was, you were beyond nervous. You really didn’t plan anything since you thought your feelings will be rejected. Your fears and insecurities didn’t permit you to see that Taehyung’s love for you has been there since the day you met.

Taehyung watched you grow silent as you slipped away into undesired thoughts, after another unbearable moment of silence he took both of your hands into his and brought them close enough to his mouth to kiss them.

‘’You don’t have to be nervous around me and you don’t have to worry, because I care about you, and I trust us to be good to each other. If anything troubles you, you can depend on me okay?’’ He spoke softly into your hands using his thumbs to rub soothing circles into your skin. You knew he meant everything he said, it was in his eyes and his voice, it was in the way he brushed his lips against you knuckles not quite kissing them telling you that you don’t have to worry being with him. And that was enough to comfort your heart.

Once you smiled, Taehyung didn’t hesitate to dig into the food and feed it to you. The atmosphere and the weight in your chest eased immediately and you found yourself laughing out loud along with Taehyung. After your late night snack, both of you decided to wander around arms encircled around each other’s waists.

‘’Mhm my lips taste sweet.’’ You said licking your lips. Taehyung stopped to look at you and with a fleeting moment of hesitance that he dropped as soon as it came he leaned in to kiss you, though it wasn’t much of a kiss, just a simple peck, it was enough to glue to the ground. You were tempted to check your pulse, see if it’s there.

‘’Mhm yes they are sweet.’’ He spoke as if in serious consideration, the only indication of his true feelings was hidden behind his scarf where his neck burned with deep red. He looked at you, the way you pressed your fingertips to your lips, the way your eyes turned to a night sky drowning in stars.

‘’What?’’ Taehyung looked at you, waiting for you to say something but what he got instead was your arms gripping at his jacket as you closed the space between you.

You felt Taehyung fight against the smile surging to his face, he wanted to kiss you properly, wanted to fulfil the daydream he’s been chasing since the day he met you. You sneaked your hands around his neck pulling him even closer to which he did not protest. Taehyung held your waist keeping you locked to him as his other hand travelled from your neck to rest against your cheek as every bit of contained passion seeped into the long-awaited kiss. It was music and art and worlds colliding. You pulled away long enough to breathe and before either of you could manage a smile Taehyung pressed his lips to yours once more, you didn’t even bother thinking there was anything else you could do except hold him closer in this moment.

Jeon Jungkook:

You were waiting with Jungkook before his solo performance, watching him get attended by stylists and performance directors giving him last minute pointers. Jungkook caught your eye and winked before pushing through the crowded room to get to you.

‘’How do you feel?’’ You asked him, unconsciously fixing the jacket around his shoulders. He smiled at you taking your hand into his, playing with your fingers.

‘’Excited, a little nervous but mostly excited.’’ He said, smiling broadly compelling you to grin as well.

‘’Good I’m happy for you, I know you’ll do great,’’ You encouraged him. Jungkook leaned in to kiss your forehead letting his lips rest against your skin for a bit longer than usual. When he pulled away he avoided your gaze, only looking off to the side.

You followed his stare, there was nothing much to see except a black gap in the curtains where people came and went, and beyond that thousands of cheering fans awaiting him. You looked back at Jungkook, he was teasing his lips between his teeth, biting hard enough for the soft pink skin to turn white.

‘’Hey, hey,’’ You said calling his attention. He looked at you with bright eyes, the innocent kind that screamed of youth and freedom. You poked his lip making him stop biting at it.

‘’Army are here to support you and cheer for you, there’s nothing you can do that’ll disappoint them.’’ You reassured him. Jungkook looked thoughtful for a few seconds.

‘’But what if I make a mistake?’’ He asked finally.

‘’Then you’ll move on and continue giving the best performance you can, your fans don’t frown when you make a mistake they only cheer harder to tell you it’s okay. They’re here to help you live your dream because you’re fulfilling theirs no matter what you do.’’ Jungkook knew you were right. He bit his lip again unknowingly making you poke him again.

‘’Stop biting your lips, find a better a habit.’’ You scolded him teasingly.

‘’Oh yeah?’’ Jungkook lifted his eyebrows. ‘’Like what?’’ He asked getting closer.

Whatever the sounds around you were ceased to matter, whatever it was you were saying got buried under a heavy blanket of snow and whether your heart was still hidden inside your chest you didn’t know because the only thing that was bright and clear was the feeling of Jungkook’s lips pressing into your own. Gently and unmoving as if one wrong move could blow you away from him like delicate flower petals torn away by the uncompromising wind. And when your heart began to demand your brain to function and kiss him back was when he pulled away.

Jungkook looked at you smiling lightly as he reached to cup your face. He wasn’t sure whether to appreciate or worry about your shocked expression.

‘’Do it again.’’ You mumbled hoping it was coherent.

‘’Again?’’ Jungkook asked biting his lip, to keep the sheepish grin at bay.

‘’Yes, if this is your new habit you must do it more than once?’’ You spoke all too fast making Jungkook laugh. He hummed before leaning in close to you so your foreheads rested against each other. With one last smile, he leaned in. Your heart soared at the soft brush of his lips but a shrill damned voice chased them away.

‘’Jungkook you’re needed now.’’ His manager awkwardly pointed at the stage. Jungkook sighed flashing you a grin, with a chaste kiss on your forehead and dark pink creeping up his neck, he walked away. You licked your lips, biting them discretely.

‘’Better be a long-lasting habit.’’ You murmured as you listened to the cheers of Army invite him on stage.

TVD 9x01 (part 3) Enjoy! =)

Cut to – early next morning at the Salvatore mansion. Caroline comes into Bonnie’s room with a breakfast tray.

CAROLINE: Rise and shine sleepy head!

BONNIE: Care…wow, this is so nice! You didn’t have to…

CAROLINE: Of course I did!

BONNIE: What time is it?

CAROLINE: 8:06…

BONNIE: I thought you were going to sleep in?

CAROLINE: Ah, how I’d love for those golden days to be back! Maybe someday… for now, it’s pretty much impossible not to wake up before 6. Listen, we need some you and me time, so breakfast in bed it is!

BONNIE: Thank you! Looks yummy!

CAROLINE: (Lays next to her, hugs her) You have no idea how happy I am you are here!

BONNIE: Me too, Care, I needed this.

CAROLINE: So, we didn’t really get a chance to talk last night and I need to know, Bon, are you really O.K? With the whole psychic thing? I know it hasn’t been easy…

BONNIE: It hasn’t but it’s better now. Before I used to hear people’s thoughts all the time, nearly drove me mad. But Darius taught me how to control it, and I’m so thankful for it, felt like I was invading people’s privacy, you know?

CAROLINE: I can relate in a way... it can be very freak, and disturbing in some cases, to get into people’s minds. Can’t imagine if that were a million times stronger…

BONNIE: Like I told Damon, I just take it one day at a time.

CAROLINE: You know I’m here for you, for whatever you need Bon.

BONNIE: I know Care, I’ll be fine. Plus, I’ve learned some pretty cool tricks too, check this out (uses her telekinetic powers to pour syrup on the pancakes)

CAROLINE: (In total wonder) Bonnie! Wow, that’s… amazing!!

Damon nocks then walks in holding a plate of his famous pancakes.

DAMON: Bon-Bon, I brought you… (sees Bonnie and Care having breakfast in bed) What is this? And why wasn’t I invited?

CAROLINE: Girls only Damon! So, shu, go!

DAMON: (Puts his pancake plate aside and takes a bite of Bonnie’s pancake) Augh! These are horrible Blondie! Am I right Bon?

CAROLINE: No they're not! Right? (looks at Bonnie).

BONNIE: (Trying to be nice, since they are quite horrible) No, Care, they are… yum…yummy, yum …yum…

CAROLINE: (Smirks at Damon) See?

DAMON: She’s just lying to be nice; Bon-Bon knows nothing tops my pancakes!

BONNIE: (Picking on him) Nahhh, they are pretty awful too...

CAROLINE: (To Damon) Ha! See??!! Hey, wait! (To Bonnie) what do you mean too? (Gets a text, reads it).

CAROLINE: Oh, you have got to be kidding me!

BONNIE: What’s going on?

CAROLINE: Apparently, some student’s skipped school. Arr, teenagers!

BONNIE: Listen, Care, why don’t we get ready and go check it out.

CAROLINE: O.k, we’ll meet in half an hour at Alaric’s office?

BONNIE: Sure.

CAROLINE: (Looks at Bonnie’s almost untouched pancakes) Aren’t you going to finish your pancakes?

BONNIE: Yes, yes, of course… (takes another forceful bite).

CAROLINE: O.k, see you in a bit (kisses her on the cheek, and leaves).

DAMON: (Throws Caroline’s pancakes in the garbage, gives Bonnie the pancakes he made for her) Here Bon-Bon, just how you like them (gives her a smirk).

Cut to - Matt at the Mayor’s office.

EDWARD POWELL: Sheriff, any leads?

MATT: Not yet Sir, we are working as fast as we can. We have no hard evidence these incidents are related but I think it’s safe to say that something supernatural is involved. All we know for a fact is that the first group of victims had the same diagnoses, brain aneurysms. They also dropped and woke-up at the same time. The second group of victims is being treated and evaluated at Mystic General and Whitmore Medical.

EDWARD POWELL: Listen, Sheriff, I really need for you and your team to get to the bottom of this ASAP. We cannot allow for another “incident” to happen. I took this position under the promise of making Mystic Falls the safest place to live in, and I intend to keep that promise. And, please, call me Edward, Sir. sounds quite odd, we are practically the same age.

MATT: (Soft laugh) I guess that’s true. Trust me, we are doing the best that we can. I’ve also recruited some friends that can help in the “supernatural” department.

EDWARD POWELL: Sheriff, I trust you know what is best, that is the reason I requested your return. You have my full support, and I will provide you with all the necessary resources, just, please move as fast as you can.

MATT: I will. Thank you, I appreciate the vote of trust. I will not fail.

EDWARD POWELL: I know you won’t, nor will I. We owe it to this town to bring them peace, and we will succeed.

MATT: We will. I need to head out now, I have to do some interrogations at the Hospital, then I’m headed to a meeting at the Salvatore school.

EDWARD POWELL: Keep me informed Sheriff, and remember, anything you need, at any time, just let me know.

MATT: I will, thank you, S… Edward. Have a nice day.

Cut to Alaric’s Office. Alaric, Caroline, Sergei, Radka, Damon, Bonnie, and Darius are talking about the students that didn’t arrive to class.

CAROLINE: So, they didn’t show up for class, again? It hasn’t even been two days! Those little… (Radka interrupts)

RADKA: I don’t think they skipped this time. I know they have done it before, but I have a bad feeling about this one. They were genuinely excited to present their project.

ALARIC: When was the last time anyone saw them?

SERGEI: Yesterday, after the last period.

ALARIC: Have you called their cells?

RADKA: Yes, no answer. We’ve looked everywhere, Ric.

ALARIC: Matt is on his way, so let’s just wait till he gets here.

DARIUS: We can do a locator spell, find them faster. Take it you know the drill?

CAROLINE: I’m on personal belongings.

SERGEI: I will get the candles, I have plenty.

ALARIC: I’ll have a map, somewhere around here (looks around, finds one in a drawer).

DAMON: (With serious signs of a hangover) Ah, my head is about to explode! Another human side effect I totally despise…

DARIUS: You know, the best remedy for hang-over is to keep drinking…

BONNIE: It’s not even noon, Darius, are you kidding me?

DAMON: Well, Bon, it’s past noon somewhere in the world, Waldo has a point.

ALARIC: Sorry Bonnie, but I sort of agree with these guys…

BONNIE: We need everyone on game here. So, just take an aspirin and drink some water.

DAMON: Fine Bon-Bon, but once the clock hits the right digits, we’re going old school on this.

CAROLINE: (Comes back from gathering the things) Here, their textbooks, these will do, right?

DARIUS: Yes, those will be fine.

Sergei comes back with the candles. Darius and Bonnie set everything up for the spell, the others gather around. They start the spell, then suddenly they start to bleed from the nose.

DAMON: What’s happening? This makes no sense, this is a simple spell, she has done it a million times before, shouldn’t be taking so much power… Bonnie? Bon, stop! (To the others) We need to stop her now, something is wrong!

ALARIC: Bonnie… stop!

CAROLINE: Bonnie!?

Both Darius and Bonnie drop unconscious.

CAROLINE: Oh my god, Bonnie! (rushes to help them)

DAMON: Bon! Bon-Bon! Wake up! (Darius wakes up, Bonnie is still out) (To Darius) What the hell is going on!!??

DARIUS: I, I don’t know…

DAMON: Care! Don’t just stand there, give her your blood! (Caroline gives her blood, Bonnie wakes up)

DAMON: Bon? You O.k?

BONNIE: I’m fine… what happened?

CAROLINE: You were in the middle of your spell, blood started coming out your nose, then you both just collapsed…

BONNIE: I don’t understand... Darius?

DARIUS: I have no idea, Bonnie.

SERGEI: Forgive my intrusion, but if I may say, while you were doing your sorcery, I could have sworn I heard the twins chanting. Perhaps that had something to do with this unfortunate event?

ALARIC: Wait, what?

CAROLINE: I can’t believe this! (She leaves the room).

DARIUS: Bonnie, I’m so sorry, I honestly have no idea what just happened.

BONNIE: I know, you and me both…

RADKA: (To Alaric) This has to be linked with the incidents, right?

ALARIC: Not really sure, but it’s a hell of a coincidence if it’s not…

RADKA: I’m worried, Ric. I think this is way out of our league…

ALARIC: (Kisses her on the cheek to comfort her) We’ll figure this out, I swear.

Caroline comes back with Liz and Josie.

CAROLINE: O.K girls, things just got real serious. Tell us, right now, what did you do?!

JOSIE: Aunt Bonnie? Why would you tell us to do that? (Bonnie looks very confused).

ALARIC: Stop with this, we’ve had enough! You either tell us what is going on or there will be consequences.

LIZ: Are you threatening us, daddy? (Radka falls to the ground, she is being powered drained).

CAROLINE: Girls stop it! (They increase their attack) I said stop, right now, or I swear!! (They keep increasing their attack) Bonnie, please help…

BONNIE: Care, I can’t… they’re your kids…

ALARIC: Please, Bon, whatever it takes. There is no other way…

JOSIE: (With a smirk) You think aunt Bonnie can stop us? We can take away her magic too…

LIZ: … just like that (Bonnie weakens a bit).

DAMON: Munchkins, stop!

BONNIE: (To Damon) Don’t worry, I got this. (To the twins) Girls, you know I love you, and I’m so sorry for what I’m about to do, this is not the reunion I wanted us to have. Now, I think you are forgetting just one little detail, auntie Bonnie is also psychic, I can get into your heads and pretty much make you do whatever I want, it is something I really don’t like to do but (uses her psychic powers) when mom and dad tell you to stop, you need to stop.

The twins stop and calmly sit down, in a sort of trance state.

BONNIE: Now, tell me, girls, what is really going on?

CAROLINE: Girls? Aunt Bonnie asked you a question.

LIZ: We really didn’t mean to…

JOSIE: I swear mom, she (looking at Bonnie) makes us do this!

BONNIE: Girls, why are you saying this?

LIZ: Because you tell us to!

ALARIC: Bonnie?

BONNIE: Ric, honestly, I have no idea…

LIZ: You do! You told us we are the key, that you need us to focus so we can open that portal… and that if we don’t, you will kill them (looking at Alaric and Caroline).

BONNIE: Girls, listen to me. I would never hurt them, or you, you know that, right? Now, just relax (looks at Care and Alaric to let them know she is going to access the girl's mind, they nod), let me try something. (She uses her powers again to see if she can find something). (To Caroline and Alaric) I have no idea why they are saying this… strange thing is, they are telling the truth… but there is something off, I just can’t grasp what it is.

CAROLINE: Girls, please go to your room, we will talk about this later. (As the girls are leaving). Oh, and in case it wasn’t obvious enough, you are so grounded!

DARIUS: Bon, maybe you should tell them…

BONNIE: Tell them what?

DARIUS: You might not remember, you black out when it happens, but you’ve been having episodes again.

BONNIE: What? No…

CAROLINE: Bonnie, what is he talking about, are you O.k?

BONNIE: I’m fine. I mean, I did have some episodes a while back, but I fixed that, they stopped.

ALARIC: Are you sure, Bonnie?

DAMON: It can’t be that, I know about “the episodes”, this is something different. Listen, Bon, I think somebody is trying to mess with you, we just need to figure out who… and I think Dr. Strange here (referring to Darius) should be on top of our list (Darius rolls his eyes).

DARIUS: Trust me, Damon, I am not involved, but, unlike you, I can actually help her.

DAMON: (Sarcastic laugh) In case you haven’t noticed, she doesn’t need your help; she can handle herself perfectly well on her own.

ALARIC: O.k, let’s stop with this, and focus. I’m sure it is not a coincidence that people are dropping unconscious, students are missing, and someone is playing mind games with Bonnie and the girls.

Matt walks in.

ALARIC: Good, you are here.

MATT: What’s going on?

RADKA: Some students are missing, we think it might have something to do with what’s been happening.

MATT: Let’s not jump to any conclusions. How long have they been missing?

SERGEI: No one has seen them since yesterday, after the last period.

MATT: Is it normal for them to disappear once in a while, cut class? I mean, they are teenagers.

CAROLINE: They have Matt, but not this time, something is wrong.

DAMON: Also, some freaky Friday thing is going on with Bon and the girls.

BONNIE: (Soft laugh) Literally, the most far away reference, Damon. (Damon gives her a smirk). We think these things are linked; the incidents, the students, the girls, me… and from the type of incidents, there most definitely is a psychic involved.

MATT: I think so too. I just came from interviewing some patients that woke from their coma and their stories are very similar. All they seem to remember is hearing a woman’s voice just before they collapsed.

BONNIE: (Worried) I’ll bet that if they hear my voice, they will recognize it…

MATT: What are you talking about, Bon?

CAROLINE: Just before you got here, Bonnie and Darius were doing a locator spell to find the students, we think the girls siphoned their powers... then Bonnie and Darius dropped unconscious. The girls say they hear a voice that sounds like Bonnie, that makes them do things… that they are some sort of key to a portal, or something.

SERGEI: This is all very uncanny.

DAMON: Yes, it makes no sense; what do people dropping unconscious, missing students, Bon-Bon, the girls, and Waldo here, have in common?

MATT: Let’s recap, there has to be a reason all of this is connected. The first incident happened 2 days ago, victims were not connected in any way, totally random, 25 reported victims.

ALARIC: That was the same day we had the incident with the girls, they drained everyone in their classroom, including Radka. Bon, Darius, where were you 2 days ago?

BONNIE: In Dublin, waiting to catch our flight.

MATT: Then yesterday, incident number 2, except now the count went up to 50, and again, no relation amongst the victims but same diagnosis, brain aneurysm.

CAROLINE: Well, yesterday we all met at the Grill, and it was the last time the students were seen. And today, well this…

DAMON: (Sarcastically) So, Sheriff Donovan, what’s the master plan?

MATT: For now, we need to keep things quiet, go about your day as if nothing is wrong. I will look for the students, what are their names?

RADKA: Its Veda, Auden, Tabitha, and Nikolai, you know them, Matt.

MATT: Well, now I’m sure that this is not a coincidence.

DAMON: Really? Just now? (Mocking him).

MATT: Listen, nothing can seem out of place or give anyone the idea that we are working together on this. I know we are being monitored, not sure by whom. So, we need to keep a low profile; I’ll do what I am supposed to do, you do the same.

DAMON: That’s your master plan Donovan?

ALARIC: Actually Damon, I think it’s a good plan. We can’t draw any attention. Bonnie, Darius, Radka and I can work on research, get as much intel on incidents involving psychic attacks.

DAMON: Wait? What about me?

ALARIC: You have classes to teach, pal, so I suggest you get to them.

DAMON: Oh, come on! You’re benching me? If anyone should be benched, its Loki here (referring to Darius)! I’m sure his witchy-psychic voodoo is involved in some way.

ALARIC: Sorry buddy, you need to take one for the team.

DAMON: (Annoyed) Fine! (Starts walking out mumbling) What sort of discrimination is this? I’m a human now, so all of a sudden, I’m useless…

ALARIC: Matt and I are also human Damon, it’s not about that.

DAMON: Whatever Professor Xavier! (Keeps walking out).

SERGEI: (To Damon, as they head out of the room) If it is any consolation, I am one of the oldest vampires in the world, and it seems I have also been “benched”.

DAMON: Guess it’s an “occult studies” members only type of thing, so that leaves us out, Count Dracula… (they leave).

ALARIC: O.k, so we (referring to Radka, Bonnie, and Darius) will be in the study. Care, you keep an eye on the girls and run things as usual.

MATT: Sounds like a plan. I’ll keep you informed if I find anything on the student’s whereabouts. Let me know if you find anything from your side (leaves).

Cut to – an underground cave where the missing students are being held captive.

VEDA (Inside Tabitha’s mind): Tab, can you hear me?

TABITHA: I can V, where are you?

VEDA: I don’t know, I’ve been out of it for who knows how long… all I know is that it’s dark, humid, cold... Oh yeah, and I’m a cell!

TABITHA: I think we are in the same place V.

VEDA: The only thing I remember was hearing a woman’s voice, then I blacked out and woke up here.

TABITHA: Me too… Can you reach Nik and Aud?

VEDA: No Tab, I can’t … we need to find each other and get the hell out of here fast!

Buckeye Chickens: An All-American Breed

By Christine Henrichs – No chicken breed is perfect, but many Buckeye chicken breeders figure they have come close enough with their breed. Breeders extol the virtues of vigor, resilience and disease resistance in a bird that grows to a solid size and lays plenty of eggs. The bird’s buckeye-color feathers and friendly, easy-going disposition win the eye and the heart. The breed has played an interesting role in poultry farming history, giving their breeders the honor of carrying the torch into the future. That’s a lot for one breed to live up to, but Buckeyes are equal to the task. W.H. Card, identified as a judge and breeder in the article he wrote about Buckeyes in the March 1913 issue of American Poultry Advocate, describes them with affection:

“Their flesh-carrying ability being as natural as their vigorous, active disposition, there is never any loss of weight by persistent and constant foraging when on free range. In confinement they show no phlegmatic tendencies, being always busy and on the move without nervousness or seeming discontent, therefore keeping in the best of flesh and fettle at any season of the year.”

Buckeye History

One of the Buckeye’s distinctions is that it is the only breed credited entirely to a woman for its creation. The estimable Nettie Metcalf turned her attention to creating the breed at the turn of the 20th century. She was intrigued with the Rhode Island Red, even calling her birds Buckeye Reds when she first introduced them, as a pea comb variety, distinct from the single and rose comb varieties of Rhode Island Reds.

Her birds’ darker mahogany color and separate breeding gave the Buckeye a distinct identity, and she observed that they might well be confused with the RIR and absorbed into that breed unless efforts were made to keep them separate.

Buckeyes are a dual-purpose breed, with good egg laying ability, and desirable meat qualities, but proper cooking is essential to bring out the flavor and tenderness.

“Many names for my new breed suggested themselves,” she wrote later, reflecting back on her experience. “Year after year they bred truer to the type I had in mind, which was a modified Cornish shape, with the very darkest of red plumage, hens containing some black not being objectionable to me, so long as the males kept that dark red shade I admired.” [quoted in The American Breeds of Poultry by Frank L. Platt, 1921.]

Although she sought that Cornish shape, she did not use Cornish to develop the breed. Her first cross, Buff Cochin cockerels on Barred Rock hens, “produced a big, lazy fowl, so I looked around for something else to mix in.” She settled on Black Breasted Red Games, crossed with those fat and lazy hens. She selected the red offspring from that mating and bred them to each other.

“My, what a flock I raised that year,” she remembered. “No wonder my friends laughed. Green legs and feathered legs, buff chicks, black chicks, and even red-and-black barred chicks; single combs and pea combs and no combs at all, but all fighters from way back.”

Jeff Lay of Miamisburg, Ohio keeps about 200 Buckeye chickens on his own property and three other local farms. He notes that although Cornish birds were not included in Mrs. Metcalf’s original breeding, the Games she used would likely have had Cornish in their background. Cornish were often called Indian Games at the turn of the 20th century.

“You can’t help but see the Cornish in them,” he said, “especially in the head.”

ALBC’s Buckeye Project

Buckeyes got a boost in 2005 from the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy’s project for Renewing America’s Food Traditions, a collaboration of several groups, including the Center for Sustainable Environments, Chef’s Collaborative, Cultural Conservancy, Native Seed/SEARCH, Seed Savers Exchange and Slow Food USA, which provided funding for the project. At that point, the breed was somewhat degraded.

“We wanted to create a model to recover chicken breeds with good potential as broilers,” said Jeannette Beranger, research & technical program manager for ALBC.

Applying principles gleaned from historical and technical sources, the birds were maturing two weeks faster, weighed a pound more and had improved in egg production after three years of selective breeding. The resulting materials are available free online.

One of the old books that stood out is The Call of the Hen, an early 20th-century publication of the American Poultry School in Kansas City, Missouri. It is available online through Google Books.

“It’s a fabulous book,” said Ms. Beranger. “He broke down the process of deciding which birds have the best potential in a common sense approach.”

The project enlisted individuals who were experienced breeders to raise the birds, report the results and return at least a trio of their birds to ALBC. Those who wanted to continue breeding the Buckeye chickens were welcome to process the rest of the flock as they wanted. By the third year, the birds met Mrs. Metcalf’s historic standard and surprised the exhibition world by winning reserve champion in the American class at the Ohio National in 2007.

The project generated publicity for the chicken breed, encouraging more breeders to start their own flocks. The Buckeye, although still far from plentiful, is a much stronger breed than it was before the project started. They live up to their reputation as consistent layers of 150-200 eggs a year, slowing down somewhat when it’s hot. The pullets reach 4-1/2 to 5 lbs., the cockerels 6 lbs. at 16 weeks. Her birds, like Judge Card’s, gained weight equally well whether they ranged on pasture or lived in chicken pens and runs.

Although she finds them “not as predator-savvy” as Leghorns, neither do they have any inclination to peck at each other or pluck feathers. “They are peaceful,” she said. “We like their personalities.” She noted another advantage when she moved her breeding flock of around 20 birds on her half-acre front lawn to give them more space: “I didn’t have to mow the grass.”

Buckeyes on the Table

Proper cooking is essential to bring out the flavor and make it tender. Birds at 16-18 weeks are too tough for frying or sautéing. Frederic Beranger, an experienced professional cook, finds the tabletop rotisserie gives the best results. The rotisserie encloses water, to cook with moist heat, and the meat self-bastes. Crock pots and other slow cooking methods work well.

Chef Emeril Lagasse cooked four of the Berangers’ Buckeyes for a Food Network show that aired in November, 2009. He used a traditional Italian method, butterflying the bird and marinating it, then cooking it under a brick wrapped in foil. The weight of the brick flattens the meat and cooks it evenly.

The Berangers find that Buckeye chickens produce a sturdy gelatin and stock. Mr. Beranger calls it Liquid Gold. The gelatin can be used instead of goose fat in making pate and confit.

Living with Buckeyes

That charming Buckeye chicken personality won Laura Haggarty of Williamstown, Kentucky’s heart. They greet her so warmly, she can hardly walk, impeded by chickens clustered around her feet. Relations among birds are congenial, with roosters taking a gentle interest in watching over the flock and little fighting between males. Their social nature is expressed in a variety of vocalizations, from a purr to a roar, particularly among the roosters.

“You can tell they used to be dinosaurs,” Mrs. Haggarty said. She observes that they are strong from the start.”They practically leap out of their shells,” she said. They grow fast, but benefit from higher protein feed than other breeds, as much as 30 percent, for the first 16-18 weeks. Chick feed is around 20 percent protein, so many start them on game bird starter, around 28 percent. Many Buckeye chicken owners supplement that with meal worms, which can be grown separately. The birds often enjoy yogurt, a source of protein and calcium.

Her care is working: One of her Buckeye pullets took Reserve Champion American Breed at the Southern Ohio Poultry Association’s 17th Annual Fall Show in Lucasville in October. The eight-month-old pullet comes from Mrs. Haggarty’s crossing of birds from the John Brown and ALBC lines. “It doesn’t happen that often that a Buckeye makes it to Champion Row,” she said. “It’s such a pleasure when one does. It’s nice to see the birds’ profile is getting a bit higher.”

Mrs. Beranger recommends adding apple cider vinegar to the water a couple of times a week as a preventive against coccidia. She also feeds each bird a teaspoon a week of a remedy she makes herself, to boost immune systems and resist worms. She adapted the mixture from a recipe provided by Juliette de Bairacli Levy’s Complete Herbal Handbook for Farm and Stable:

4 parts molasses

4 parts olive oil, wheat germ oil or cod liver oil

1 part ground comfrey leaf or ground cayenne pepper

2 parts garlic

“They eat it like candy,” she said.

Buckeye Clubs

Reviving a dwindling chicken breed means supporting breeders who are taking on a new project. At present, there are two clubs for those who breed Buckeye chickens. Mr. Lay of Ohio resurrected the name of the original American Buckeye Club for a breeders group in 2009, one hundred years after the first club was started. The American Buckeye Club focuses on improving the production values of the breed. A list of breeders is posted on its site.

Another club, the American Buckeye Poultry Club was started by Mrs. Haggarty in 2008. Its focus is to breed Buckeye chickens in accordance with the APA and ABA Standards, while still retaining the heritage values that make the breed so special. She has recruited Mrs. Beranger as a technical advisor, and the group is a registered 501c(3)nonprofit. It is a more traditional club for those who show their birds, but also is open to anyone with an interest in the breed. Organizational details of point systems and districts are still being ironed out, and the first official meeting was held at the Ohio National show, on November 14th, 2009.
