Wanted to go more in depth with Kei’s Relationship with some of the main cast. This is just a few by the way! If you’re curious about Kei’s relationship with other main cast characters my ask box is always free!

First up is…

Ramshackle-

Grim:

At first, Kei found Grim to be slightly annoying. His tendency to get in trouble and tiresome attitude really got on her nerves. These two would bicker at each other everyday whenever they couldn’t come to an agreement on something. 

But overtime, Kei started to tolerate Grim and learned more about his personality. Most importantly, Grim’s love for attention. She would often sneak in some head rubs and chin scratches when he gets all huffy. He would be caught off guard all the time and say that Kei was wasting his time with this affection. But of course, he actually enjoyed it.

Their bickering turned playful and the moments between them became more pleasant. They also began to partner up with each other during investigations. Even if Grim still has his moments, Kei is happy to have a friend like him.

Heartslabyul- 

Ace:

Ah yes, Ace…Kei’s second pain to deal with. He was put off by his behavior on day one. From Ace making fun of him for having zero knowledge on the Great Seven, ditching Kei and Grim when they were meant to clean all the windows in the school. Yeah, let's just say they had a rough start with one another.

Even after adapting to his behavior, Kei still can’t help but find his mischievous side tiresome. But after all of those hardships, she started to treat Ace differently. From

“Oh you got in trouble again? Of course you did, and I’m not helping you either” to “I can’t believe you…Fine! I’ll help you out just this one time.”(She then continued to get Ace out of different situations)

Although Ace still teases Kei, he’s still loyal towards her and tries to help her out whenever she’s in a messy situation.

Deuce:

The person Kei tolerates most. She always found Deuce’s drive to be an honors student admirable. Kei didn’t mind if he was a slow learner, she sees how much effort he puts into his school work. 

Anytime Deuce finds himself struggling on a subject, Kei takes time out of his day to help him out. Which makes Deuce feel a little bit bad, thinking that he’s wasting his time. But, Kei doesn’t mind at all! Often studying with Deuce and helping out whenever he could. From sending online sites to review on to writing important words as well their information on index cards, Kei does everything in his power as a way of helping out a friend.

Despite the fact that Deuce has a long way to go before he betters himself fully, he’s still appreciative towards Kei’s help and will make sure that no one disrespects her after all she did for his studies.

Pomefiore-

Vil:

It’s safe to say that Kei is Vil’s Guinea pig when it comes to makeup and outfits. As it turns out Vil himself started this relationship when he first met Kei in the school halls. He was struggling to find someone new to use his new skincare brand on.

Everyone in Pomefiore had their own collection of his products on hand so Vil needed someone new and willing for his test run. Lo and behold, he happened to bump into the prefect himself. But when taking a closer look at him, Vil saw how smooth Kei’s skin looked. As if he had his own routine he practiced daily. When asking what type of products he used, Kei just responded with “I don’t really use any. I have no money in this world to buy cleanser, so just I just sticked with splashing water on my face-“

Vil then grabbed Kei's wrist and dragged him to Pomefiore for an emergency facial cleansing. After that disastrous moment, Vil decided to teach Kei how to use his facial products and makeup properly. Inviting him daily to his dorm to make sure if he improved or not.

He was too traumatized by Kei's confession, doing everything to assure that his teachings stick inside Kei's head. Vil decided to declare Kei an honorary member because of how much he welcomed him over. He did it to check on his progress and so Rook could shut up about making him part of the dorm. Killing two birds with one stone.

Their relationship did eventually did switch from master and student to makeover mutuals months later. Doing each other’s makeup and fixing any visible mistakes. Vil has gotten over that “traumatic” moment ever since Kei improved for the better.

But he’ll never forget it for the rest of his life.

Ever…

Rook:

Oh boy I bet yall were just waiting for this one. 

Kei at first didn’t like Rook. She thought he was just weird and too over the top for her to like. But, in later chapters his behavior started to be more tolerable towards Kei and she even accepted her given nickname “Chercheur de vérité.”

The more Kei looked at Rook’s eccentric nature and his obsession with beauty the more she became curious of him. Actively trying to go seek him out to learn about his personality. Rook even found this behavior to be quite intriguing for him. Usually, people tend to stay away from him, finding his behavior creepy and suspicious. But to see someone trying to come to him with such curiosity made Rook quite fond of the detective. Eventually inviting Kei into personal spots of his like studying in the forest behind Pomefiore or taking a stroll in the Botanical Garden.

Kei during these hangouts would just sit there intently listening to Rook’s outlandish stories that she wanted to believe were fake but couldn’t shake off the feeling of truth from each tale. Along with Rook consuming small parts of Kei’s personal history he was so greedy to learn more of her interests. Waiting for the day she could finally be vulnerable with him. 

With their hangout sessions becoming more frequent, Kei started to look forward to their interactions together. Often finding himself thinking about Rook during his regular routine. From enjoying the way he laughs to wishing to hear more of his voice, Kei finally came to the realization…

Kei: I…I actually want to be with him. It was just out of interest before. Why is it different now? I think I have gone insane.

Grim: You think!?

When they met up inside the forest surrounding the sports field behind the school, Rook was bracing his bow while having idle chat with Kei. 

Rook: Chercheur de vérité having these moments with you are quite enjoyable. It’s as if the Great Seven themselves bestowed you upon me to brighten up my day. Oh how poetic that scenario sounds! But enough of my ramblings. I’m interested in hearing more about your interest mademoiselle-

Kei: I want you.

Rook: Pardon?😀

Kei completely threw Rook off so much that he dropped his bow right out of his hands. He didn’t expect him to be so forward about his feelings. Rook had feelings for Kei as well but he thought that was going to confess first. He had a whole confession scene in his head for the past few months even telling Vil his plans on wooing Kei’s heart. He couldn’t help but burst into laughter. Not only by the suddenness of the confession but also how easily Kei shut down his original plan.

Once he calmed down, Rook cupped Kei’s hand, giving it a small peck saying “I want you more” to the already flustered prefect. Who knew that a detective could woo such an enigmatic hunter.

TL;DR

Two bitches fell in love because their fucking whimsy and pulled each other with their autistic rizz.

Epel:

Now if I were to describe Epel and Kei’s dynamic, it would be a rebellious nephew who likes hanging out with his cool uncle that lets him do whatever he wants. On any occasion Rook isn’t available to watch Epel, Vil puts Kei up to the task to keep an eye on him.

Big mistake on his part because these two had the most unforgettable moments together. Epel would always pretend to be annoyed about it in front of Vil, making him believe it was some kind of punishment for him. But drops that whole act as soon as they’re both away from Pomefiore. They made the most of their time together, from apple carving to browsing Sam's shop for unique trinkets. They not only find each other amusing, also relate to each other when it comes to being reliable to others. Having conversations about how they wish they could do more for their family and friends instead of being “useless” as they put it. Promising that they’ll work on their struggles together for others and themselves.

It’s safe to say that Epel is Kei’s favorite out of the first year group. She doesn’t want Ace & Deuce to know ever since she stated she doesn’t pick favorites before. They would never let her live that down.

Diasomnia:

Malleus:

It’s honestly so funny thinking about how Kei and Malleus met. This man has literally appeared out of nowhere multiple times in the middle of the night outside of Ramshackle, talks all mysterious and vague like an old scholar, then just disappears with a bunch of firefly-like lights surrounding him. And what is Kei’s response to this? 

Kei: Hm. Yeah not surprised anymore.

And he just lets him come back every time he wants to talk. It was largely just them hurling their hyperfixations at each other to the point where they learned a lot from each chat. Kei now understands the distinction between Gargoyles and Grotesques and is more versed about Gothic architecture. Malleus has a better understanding of human psychology, often psycho analyzing his fellow dorm leaders. Much to their distaste. (They probably assume he has mind-reading abilities now.)

Even after knowing his real name, Kei still calls Malleus, Tsunotarou much to Sebek’s dismay. It’s just what he’s used to. If a funny magic man can call him “Child of Man” a simple little human can name him “Tsunotarou.” 

With how much they bonded in the later chapters, it's no surprise that they're both in the same club. They'll most likely be present anywhere there's a Gargoyle. Whether it’s late at night or in the afternoon. Photographing the statues and themselves. Malleus puts them in his bedside table drawer for the sake of memory. It makes him happy that he has a friend who isn't intimidated by him and actually asks him to hangout. He’d be devastated if Kei were to, oh I don’t know…leave Twisted Wonderland and find his way back home. Yeah that’d be crazy right?

…Right?

In conclusion these two neurodivergent besties should not be separated. Malleus will raise hell if that is the case.

I'm curious as to peoples idea for what he'd do for the next power hour so

[Long Rant Post Below]

Okay so I'm gonna start with the basic idea I got it from; that being Nerd. Nerd already foreshadowed the THDPH & the WWPH [Even down to the last song for each of them] Not only that, but he references the stuff hes done in the past as well with a break/pause inbetween.

[This is what I mean]

The first three being all stuff he already did. BDG with Pocket, Tally Hall with Vol.1 & then Cage by Tim Minchin being the start the power hours.

The next two being the power hours he would do after this song [Memento Mori & Charlie's Inferno-Will Wood & That Handsome Devil]. But those are the only songs he would reference in Nerd, leaving no more clues as to what the last one would be. The only thing left in it is the video game references & Stairway to Heaven in the ending. [Which oddly enough also fit the pattern in a way. StH being about dying and the afterlife like Memento Mori & Chonny's Inferno and the video game references being all covers he made on his old channel]

While the VG refs could be a hint at a Videogame or Toby Fox Power Hour, I think at most, if its a clue at all, hinting at the next thing he does is recovering old songs.

Next, a couple of his songs reference his past stuff. Fine, I'm Fine has a good amount of lines that vaguely refer back to songs from the before [heres a post that goes more into it that's pretty cool!!]. And more importantly Dear Machine references Pocket, Dream (Outro from Calamity) & wings of wax. Pocket being later used in Nerd & the mention of Icarus coming back in Art. Not only that, but the voice in the very end Thermodynamic Lawyer is the exact same [if not very close to] voice filter/effect he uses in Dear Machine. Even down to the British accent he does in it. [Tho it is fairly normal for a music artist to reference their older songs in their music so it could be nothing]

Speaking of Dear Machine tho, quick thing to add about it is that it shows he not against covering his own songs. While yea technically its just a different version of Ode of the Cog, DM,HtC in a way counts as a cover of OotC. Same goes for bargaining/compromise & The Ballad of Dr. Jekyll.

Another idea with a CJPH is that in the CJFS discord theres a "Question of the Day" Channel. Where, as the name says, a Mod or Helper will ask a CJ related question & everyone can give their idea/imput on it. For Day 100, as a special fun lil thing, they asked Chonny if he wanted to give a question for that day. His question being:

And yes he does say that he doesnt plan on doing anything like that in future [if he even were to do it]. I fully believe he wasn't lying there & honestly I never saw him redoing any song ever until I had the idea of a CJPH [aside from stuff like Spring and a Storm & Storm and a Spring obviously]. But this is the best idea I could ever see him doing that. Also that question was from early August so a fair amount of time has passed. Whether thats enough time to equal "at least in the near future at all" I have no clue, but it is a thought.

One of my last points [that I remember atm lol] is on how he would end the power hours. Cos like, while yea he does whatever he wants & doesn't rlly follow what anyone says or asks [which I 100% agree with & is completely valid btw], I'd imagine he'd still want to end the PHs with a bang. Which is why I originally didnt think the recent one would be Will Wood.

He's stated a couple of time that hes one of his favorite artist & he definitely knows that a huge chunk of his fan base listen to WW as well. So why not end with that? Why not end with one of the most requested artist people wanted him to cover? Why wouldn't he end with a power hour of the artist that was his #1 on his Spotify Wrapped? What else could he do after that? Well maybe he'd go with his #2 artist? WHICH IS JUST HIMSELF BBYYYY

Plus, the name Power Hour already comes from this:

So it's very likely he's had himself play multiple times in a row & had a "Chonny Jash Power Hour".

Of course theories are just theories so there's always the chance I'm wrong & just insane. And again he does whatever he wants whenever he wants so who knows what it'll be. I just think id be an interesting idea for him to do.

As for how a Chonny Jash Power Hour would look? Maybe each song being a cover of a song from a past album or single? I'd imagine one from the before. & Covered in Discontent [maybe Gothic Whore?]. Like remake Pocket since its been referenced so much, tho that's still just a BDG cover so who knows. the before. would be interesting just to see how his perspective has changed since he originally wrote those songs. Gothic Whore he already has 2 songs that have a story version & a him version so I can see him doing another.

I HIGHLY doubt he'd do anything related to Vol.1 as its his completely separate thing & he doesn't rlly wanna touch any song that's TH/HMS related until whenever he feels like starting Vol.2 [which is valid lol]. If anything I could maybe see like TWWAY, Special or maybe Greener? Or go a different route with the og I'm Gonna Win or like a more outta the box one with like Just a Friend [only cos be did a 20 second "cover" of it in Mucka Blucka]. Again, I do not see him touching anything Vol.1 related but still something to entertain ig? [4th TME cover; The Chonny Electric when/j]

Tho maybe he'd just remake songs that he he fully made [like the before. or Gothic Whore], since those are more of actual Chonny Jash songs rather than the others just being covers. Would be very cool to maybe see a remake of some of his Majora's Mask song tho [no this isn't me coping over HEAL not being on spotify shush]. Or maybe he'd do songs from his old stuff like Don't Take it Personally? [also not me coping over wanting that song on Spotify too]

Idk these are just my thoughts on the idea of a CJPH [or even a Can of Soup Power Hour/j]. Either way I am gonna say idc what he'd do, BDG or Streetlight Manifesto are my other guesses, but anything he makes is always rll good & fun so I'll be interested to see whatever it is.

But ya know considering I typed all this out in the span of an hour & a half I kinda hope im not wrong PFFT

Lol like the above says...yeah I think I included all the tracks this episode. They were all just so good! (The first three are on my playlist, and Geodome is an extra addition because I want to link thoughts about it).

Duet - nothing else to say here other than another beautiful Knives-centric piano song. But can I just say that I love how Vash comes and nudges Nai over in this gif? It's so damn cute.

Last Run - I like the progression of this track. It really does sound like it's gearing up for some type of "run", especially when that...electronic bit?? (I honestly have no idea what to call it) kicks in at around 1:25. Makes me think of something revving up lol. And then we get to hear compatriots again and the transition to Knives' theme.

Drain Gate - More of that....electronic bit! (Seriously if someone knows what I should be calling that please let me know. It gives me cyber-esque vibes) And more Knives' theme. It's hard to not include everything that includes his leitmotif - it's just so freaking good.

Geodome - For this I want to point to this post originally from @revenantghost who got me thinking about this track by sharing their thoughts :)

Hello! I just caught up with the whole legacy and I am in awe over your storytelling abilities! Do you have an tips for storytelling in sims?

Hello Hi!!

First of all, AH THANK YOU!! I hope you had fun reading it T-T Second, that's a really big question! 😅

Storytelling in the sims is a tricky one because it lands somewhere between writing and almost like storyboarding a movie. It's very visual so there's the question of how much can I show vs how much will I have to tell.

I can give you camera tricks, TOOL tips, framing guidelines and maybe someday when I have some more energy, I'll do a whole writeup.

When it comes to dialogue and prose, and the actual writing part, I'm afraid that's something I'm still learning and working towards getting better too. I just try to be conscious of not rehashing what's happening in the screenshot (since we have eyes and we can see what's happening) while also not claiming that something is happening in frame that's obviously not.

I don't have a good structure for writing, I have like notes on a google doc of thoughts and ideas, but I usually take my pictures first and then write to the pictures so it feels natural and like they complement each other. I know that's not how many people write though.

Also I like to save writing prompts and book quotes I find for vague inspiration!

Overall, the best thing you can do is just start. Don't expect anything for yourself. Find a group of friends and write for them and yourself. Gen 5 through the Pit arc was all written on a discord for me and like 10 other people only. It took me a year to feel comfortable enough to start sharing the story publically.

Sorry this is so unhelpful! My best advice is always going to be don't afraid for it to be bad! Find yourself a safe space and just be terrible at it. But be terrible for you! And over time you'll find that it's maybe not so terrible anymore.

Do you know how to fix the "Shloomp. There It Is" episode? This can be done MIS style by putting Chase Young in Nomicon's place. After all, Chase Young was able to obtain the evil essence Omi of the Yin-Yang World. Why doesn't he do the same to Randy for a chance to get to the First Ninja? This idea addresses many important issues. Firstly, a dubious lesson from Nomicon (he put the guys in danger in the original plot development), and secondly, the very existence of NomiRandy. Where did he come from? Thirdly, this will limit Randy’s activities, which means he will not be able to get out of the Yin-Yang world on his own and get into someone else’s body. Poof! I forbid rc9gn characters from moving into other people’s bodies so easily!Randy's fall to the side of darkness will infuriate the First Ninja, which fits perfectly with the concept of his relationship with Chase Young. In addition, it will be a kind of bitter reminder: “Look, I took from you the one who at one time took from me the best chance to win you over to my side.” The First Ninja was at his most vulnerable mentally when he was going through a crisis, and only the appearance of Randy made him perk up. The First Ninja will not be able to come to terms with the fact that Randy has become evil (and even more arrogant).NomiRandy may be more than just arrogant. He may represent the vengeful part of Randy. He will probably say something that will plunge the First Ninja into long thoughts, because he will not be able to deny what he said, since it is a part of Randy, and not just his opposite. NomiRandy is everything that the First Ninja never wanted to accept in Randy himself, so this will be some kind of test for him? Very high quality test. Another plus in the karma of this idea.NomiRandy is not stupid, but he is a brutal teenager who doesn't need anyone. Because of this value system, he will not be able to become a part of society, because when he grows up with his peers, his brutality will lose its meaning. Deep down, Randy wants to show others his rebellious nature, what he can really be, but he will have to understand that being NomiRandy all the time is depriving himself of a future. Then this thirst will stop snowballing. A good lesson for any teenager, including Ninjas.So this idea is great, it has conflict, meaning and a "little" Chase Young/First Ninja feud of course. Chase Young is going to give morals for once (especially for the First Ninja), even if that wasn't his intention in the first place, because damn it, Chase Young was never JUST evil. He is many hundreds of years old, he is wise enough so that he does not have to prove it to others. That's why in this scenario I put him in the place of Nomicon, who was supposed to teach the Ninja. He could have locked Randy's moral self in the Yin-Yang world, not just to annoy the First Ninja and force him to accept his terms, but because "I may take YOUR place in the eyes of YOUR students, but the outcome will be the same as the outcome of the one that NomiRandy has taken Randy's place" (that is, a crossed out future for the whole world), or "we can feud not only physically" (Chase Young is a manipulator; he can not only give dubious advice to Randy, but also really important lessons for both him, same for the First Ninja; a kind of care, similar to medicine: whether you like it or not, sooner or later you will need it, but by taking it, you are slowly destroying yourself, because it contains a small dose of poison, and Chase Young will give for his own purposes you just enough to destroy you). What happened will also hit the value system of the First Ninja, which he chose in the afterlife. Chase Young has never been susceptible to petty mischief. In a ship with someone like the First Ninja, this should be emphasized more often.

What other episodes would you like to fix in this way?

Oh, wow, this is a very intriguing and very detailed idea that is certainly worth exploring!

There is a lot to process, and I've been thinking about it for...like a week, and I'm not sure if I got everything, so if I misunderstood anything I apologize (my brain no work so good sometimes lol sorry), but I wanted to offer you my opinion if you want it!

In general I prefer to leave canon alone and just loosely refer to events that happen in cartoon, especially RC9GN, so I never thought of rewriting/fixing an episode (I mean they are sort of 'rewritten' in my head with better lore and just cooler but like nothing definite). With MIS I tend to concentrate primarly on Finja and Chase first, and the kids are sort of in the background for me. I only had like two? three? ideas that are episode & Randy/Monks related and those are mostly in Xiaolin Showdown, and one of them is in Favorite Warrior AU, lol. And even those are not rewrites/fixers but crossover fusion - the events happen almost exactly the same but just with more characters involved. So I can't say I have many idea for rewrites/fixers in RC9GN that would involve MIS.

But what I do like, is using canon to suppliment idea for 'after' cartoon canon, so after reading your idea, I wanted to offer you a slightly different take: let the canon episode happen, but then use it to build an even more serious situation with Chase, like you described and it would hit everyone involved even harder.

Let me explain my reasoning more (this might get a bit long, be warned!):

Let's start with canon first - In my opinion 'Shloomp There it is' episode is fine by itself, however dumb it might seem at first.

I kind of agree with you on the first point, about it being a dubious way to teach a lesson, but to be absolutely fair - it was a very dubious and silly problem originally, that Randy created by being a little bit of an idiot himself. So as in theme with the show, the problem and solution kind of fit each other.

Secondly, NomiRandy. I also agree about your point of Where did he come from and where the heck did he go? Well I have (most likely unpopular) opinions about that.

Personally I believe that NomiRandy is not an actual evil representation Ninjanomicon somehow created from Randy himself, but rather it is a caricature of him that Nomicon created by itself. It's an absolutely fake doppleganger that only looks like Randy on the surface - with many of his negative and opposite traits amplified to a comical degree, but not really an evil entity made of Randy's deepest dark desires. It's nothing more but a papermache puppet Ninjanomicon used to teach a lesson and later discarded, and thats why we never see him again, because he wasn't real in any shape or form so after returning to Nomicon he doesn't exist anymore.

(I am very much aware that my headcanons about NomiRandy are probably in minority, because this fandom absolutely adores NomiRandy, lol)

So, NomiRandy was a relatively mild threat used as a mild solution to fix a problem created by Randy being a bit of an idiot.

Your third point, about Randy being limited in his activities, is where I have to disagree with you a bit more. Because what's the point of teaching the lesson if a big part of Randy is not there to learn it? I mean, in canon version Randy actually witnessed NomiRandy act as an asshole which helped him realize that he himself was acting foolishly. And him having to fight himself but in Howard's body was actually pretty interesting concept of Randy having to actually physically confront his failings and bad traits head on.

There is also something to say about the fact that the only ones involved into body swap were people who were in the Nomicon at first , so one could argue that the body/mind swap was controlled by Ninjanomicon, that it used to make a point for Randy. (But that would be a thought for another time, lol.)

So, as you can see, in my opinion the episode is relatively fine by itself, and if we replace Ninjanomicon with Chase - the total tone shift will change all of it drastically. Not to mention the lesson itself will change, becoming more serious and with actual consequences - all of it would be something completely different.

And while it absolutely could work and the idea of this rewrite by itself is incredibly intriguing, I think it would work better as a continuation, as more dire development for after the end of the series.

You might ask why the end of the series? Well primarily because of my own headcanon that Chase in general tends to stay out of Norrisville Ninja business out of respect to First and also because they change so fast, (I mean what are 4 years to immortal??) he rarely gets to pay attention to them, let alone get interested in them and their usefullness to his agenda with First. But if something big happens, like I dunno, Randy defeating Ghoulian and unmaking the Sorcerer himself it would make Chase pay attention to Randy and realize how useful he can be.

The other important reason, is because of episode 'Winner Takes Ball' where we catch the tiniest glimpse of the actual evil side of Randy that appeared thanks to influence of Chaos Ball. He is power hungry, he is so sure of himself, he is cocky, he is merciless and ruthless and most importantly he still loves being THE Ninja. There is no annoyed apathy and uncaringness that NomiRandy displayed, this Evil Randy would have been just as hyper as normal Randy, enjoying his newfound powers just as much, but also would be unburdened with morals of using those powers.

Because, you see, I think Actual Evil version of Randy is in many ways would be a lot like an Evil version of Omi. Evil Omi was hyper pumped, thriving on newfound power, in this new freedom from morals, ruthless and doing what he wanted, rather than what is right. And what he wanted is to fight, to show everyone how talented he was, that he was the best warrior there ever was.

And what does Randy want? Constantly throughout the show Randy expresses his delight at being the Ninja (unlike some protagonists that find themselves suddenly thrust into a hero role, Randy takes to it instantly, there is literally ZERO hesitation from this boy), he loves it and most importantly he wants to be this strong, powerful, capable and amazing.

But that is also one of the most important Ninjanomicon continues to impart on the Ninjas - not to be this prideful and arrogant, and chase after power with such disregard to everything else.

So, now picture it like this:

Chase learns about Randy and what he has done, and how talented and powerful this new ninja is. At some point he discovers about NomiRandy and what happened, and it gives him an idea.

Chase Reverse Chi-s Randy, and this Evil Randy is still Randy in many ways, and it would absolutely devastate First to see him like this - power-hungry and ruthless, disregarding everything that Ninjanomicon taught him to prevent exactly this fall to Darkness and Evil, and the worst part is he has been taken under Chase's wing not only to nurture and encourage this new evil seedling - but to taunt First and Ninjanomicon, because - isn't it what you once wanted to teach him by creating NomiRandy? About his dark self that should be kept in check and balanced in a good warrior, good ninja? But your lesson was deeply flawed and now look at me, I will do a so much better job than you ever attempted, and I will show this young Ninja, that it's not only the bad side that needs to be balanced but the good side as well.

Which would play into what you said earlier - NomiRandy, or in this case just Evil Randy - will be so power-hungry and thirsty for fighting, he will disregard many things, like the fact that existing like that is impossible - even such urges must be tampered in order to actually live a fullfilling (if evil) life. And who is better to show and teach it to him than Chase Young, who (most likely) spent centuries in the beginning of his immortal life so hungry for battle, he served as an attack dog for Hannibal Roy Bean. But with time Chase has found balance in his new evil existence, and that helped him to overcome Roy Bean and rise to new heights.

That comparison about how Roy Bean controlled Chase, can also can influence how Randy views Ninjanomicon (and by extension First), and how tightly it tries to hold reigns of Ninjas it teaches. I mean, Randy sometimes resented the lessons and rules Ninjanomicon gives, we've seen it a few times, but Evil Randy will feel all of that frustration and annoyance even more, like a rebelious teenager that saw how controlling the authoriive figure in their life is and it will poison his relationship with Ninjanomicon.

And First? Well, Evil Randy could also bring up how Randy, a supposedly not-good enough for your high-and-mighty Ninja Rules and Forbidden Powers managed to do what the original oh-so-powerful Ninja could not - finally defeat the Sorcerer. About how a teenager that you dumped your mask on, your responsibility, and kept holding back with all your stupid rules and limitations - did what you couldn't in 800 years. And what can First even answer to that? Because its all true, no matter how poisoned Evil Randy's view may be, the bare facts are all true.

So, First can only watch, helpless and angry and so so sad, how Chase takes under his wing the one who saved the world from Sorcerer (not even once, but twice) and twists that raw power and energy that served for good into something that will serve evil. ( And the worst part, is that it all happened because of First - because of Chase's initial interest in First. All in an attempt to get to him.)

And well, like you said, there could be two endings - where Evil Randy is here to stay (aka Very Bad Ending lol), or where Good Randy makes it out of Ying-Yang world and reunites with his Evil self again.

But even then, the damage will be done. Because Chase's lessons could still continue. I mentioned earlier about lessons in balance, and how in good warrior, not only his dark side should be kept in check, but his good side also. In a way, I think Good Randy will lack a very important part to being a Ninja - and its the ruthlessness that Evil Randy brandishes like a blunt weapon, but with Chase it could be sharpened into a precise tool, and if Good and Evil reunite, the lesson will be still carried over.

And not only that will be carried over, but all the words and feelings that Evil Randy experienced -Randy will remember, and that can forever change and/or damage his relationship with Ninjanomicon and First. And Chase? Well, Randy will also remember that Chase was not just an Evil Jerk that split him in half - he actually tried to help and teach his Evil self to control himself better, so the seedling of mentor&mentee relationship will still be there.

After all of this, I have to admit, unlike you, I have a harder time imagining how exactly the situtation will help Chase sway/manipulate First to his side. I mean, this way Chase might probably sway Randy to his side, especially if he somehow orchestrates the return of Good Randy and says that all of this was just a lesson to help Randy be a better warrior, because he just couldn't watch all this talent wither away under Ninjanomicon's dubious tutelage.

But when it comes to First, If anything, I think it will actually backfire horribly. First is already constantly unstable in his regards to Chase, but something like this will only solidify his belief in Chase being a manipulator that could never be trusted, because its one thing to try and manipulate First to his side, but its another to involve his kid successor. First might even lose whatever respect he had for the immortal, because he would view manipulation of children as beneath him (of course I think Chase will argue, that those young warriors are hardly children).

I think I mentioned it before in some ask, but I personally believe that if Chase will try to get to Randy it will just send First into apocleptic levels of anger, and destroy any slim chances Chase had, and will literally set him back to zero in his progress with First, lol.

But that's just my personal view, you probably have some really good ideas about that! ;D

On another note, a tiny thing I got to disagree with a little - is about Chase being above 'petty mischief'. I can agree about Chase not being particularly petty, but mischief? In my opinion, this immortal lizard is very much into mischief, albeit a more strategic type of mischief. xD This is the man who continuously taunted pre-teens while trying to manipulate one of them to his side, and also continuously made poor Jack's life hell.

Though admittiedly, I like to think that being around First Ninja brings out more of Chase's mischevious side (opposite to his cruel and uncaring sides) - partially because First Ninja doesn't always reacts the way Chase expects him to. And sometimes Ninja catches Chase before he gets into a scheme and that sometimes leaves Chase himself wrong-footed. And partially because, Chase grew to enjoy testing Ninja's patience a little too much, after the got to know each other better.

But you are right about the fact that in this ship it should empathized more how much of a threat and manipulator Chase could be, the problem is i can't write this type of characters like at all, lol, to my great dissapointment i just don't know how to do it well. xD So that version of Chase just kind of exists half-baked in my mind, and meanwhile in my art and fics he just turns into a mischevious asshole with all his schemes in background, haha.

Anyway, I tried really hard to adress everything you mentioned and offer some insights and ideas, but i still feel like i might have missed something, so - sorry about that! I know its probably not the answer you quite expected, but I do hope it was sufficient, and if not - that at least it was entertainin to read! ;3

💭 What inspires you and your writing?

this is a real marketing major-ass answer (from your local marketing major), but i love sharing knowledge and telling stories. writing’s one of those things that’s a bit of a compulsion for me—i’m always writing something. i took a five-year break from fiction writing before i stumbled ass-first into fanfic last year, but even in those years when i was focusing on my career, i was writing guides and trainings and a ton of other stuff—just not anything fun, lol.

writing is also so cathartic. sometimes i set out to tell a specific story, but at other times, a particular emotion gets me in a vice grip and i have to put it to words before it’ll go away. my stories tend to wind up as emotional dumping grounds as a result.

i don’t write things pulled directly from my own life, but there are bits and pieces of myself and things that have happened to me scattered throughout stuff i’ve written, and usually when i’m about 75% of the way through a piece, i’ll realize it’s absolutely related to something i’m currently going through. funny how art works that way, even when you don’t intend for it to.

and occasionally i just have a fire lit under my ass about an issue and i get so hot about it that i gotta compile my thoughts. looking at you, silver snow

🚦 What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.?

look, i would love nothing more for them girls (pick whichever girls you please) to have a happy ending where they kiss and are stupid in love for the rest of forever. i love reading those kinds of stories. but in my heart of hearts, i love an ambiguous ending. i like when there are still questions after the story ends. i like thinking about where things could go or how the characters will go on after the events of the story. like, shared space could be read as having a happy ending, but i don’t really think it is. and with the victors; the vestiges, well. you’ll see :0)

come to think of it, i’m not sure i’ve ever written a happily-ever-after, but i don’t think i’ve ever written a 100% bad ending, either. i read too many bury-your-gays stories and watched too many sad european queer coming-of-age films in my youth to ever be happy putting that kinda thing out into the world. i want to write about love with all its ugliness, but not despair or hopelessness. i think what most appeals to me about an ambiguous ending is that lingering feeling of hope. it’s not the same as the kind you get from a happily-ever-after, and something about it speaks to me.

💛 What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing?

honestly? how to take criticism. i took a creative writing class in high school where we had to read our work out loud and then receive feedback on it from the other writers in the class, and that did a lot for me. going into that class, i’d already been writing for forever and had won some little local writing contests and such, so i was a wee bit of a pretentious douche. but i’d never gotten real critique before beyond, essentially, spelling and grammar checks. it humbled me lol. it made me grow so much as a writer, and i could see where i needed to improve or where my head was wedged way too far up my own ass for others to follow. it also helped me recognize strengths i didn’t know i had, and that was huge. it’s easy to get into a self-doubt spiral when making creative work, and good, constructive criticism can do so much to help avoid that.

to this day i love critique. i like knowing what worked or didn’t work so that i can continue to improve as a writer and do better next time. did my themes land? did something really work, but another part fall flat? i’d love to know!! i try to treat everything i write as practice for the next thing, and frankly that’s helped take some of the pressure off so i don’t go into total Perfectionist Mode.

i know critique is kind of a sensitive topic in fan spaces, but i think that’s because a lot of people have gotten unsolicited criticism that is purely critical and isn’t constructive. but getting good, constructive criticism will do so much to help a person grow as a writer. it’s scary, and sometimes it hurts! writing is very personal for most people, and it stings when things aren’t received the way you think they will be. but i know i’ve grown more from having my failures pointed out (and, very importantly, having the good things about those efforts acknowledged) than anything else.
