ramble ramble ramble

I recently got an ask/prompt that mentioned a specific scene the anon had liked in CYE, so I went back to read that, and then... ended up reading my own shit for like six hours??😭 I haven't really touched CYE since I wrapped it, so I guess it felt distant enough now that I was kinda able pretend someone else wrote it, if that makes any sense?

So anyway, I'm going to give myself a little pat-pat on the head because... like... I guess I didn't hate it? lmaooo

I mean, I didn't read it from the start but... I got pretty into it lolll I was ready to kick Nat's arse when I got to his chat with Sammy... and well, I guess it just shows that I managed to build some real tension/emotion/development into the text, and I got deep enough reading it that it didn't even matter that I knew exactly where it was going hahaha!

It's always going to be strange to try and view my own work objectively, but I think I'll keep trying every now and then, even if it makes me cringe sometimes. Just so I can improve, but also so I don't just dismiss all the hard work I've done.

I'm glad I don't hate it. Actually, I'm not sure why I expected to hate it in the first place?? Huh......

Of course there's always room for improvement, and I did find some stray typos, weird sentences, and misplaced commas, all that. But to be honest, how much do those things even matter when it comes to a story as a whole? (Unless the writing is completely illegible and the grammar gets in the way of the story, of course, but y'know what I mean.) Guess it's sometimes too easy to get stuck on those minor details in our own work and get overly perfectionistic. Like... considering it was all just me writing and editing, I reckon the state of the grammar could've been a lot worse loll

ANyWaY! I don't know what this ramble is about.... Uhhh... Fun fact?? Mentioning Sammy reminded me once again that in my original drafts Sammy was Nathan's arsehole ex?? Who had echoed the toxic traits of Nat's parents and he didn't really realise it because he grew up with that and gravitated towards that as it was familiar?? But then I decided against it, as it aligned better with Nathan's development and the state of his chronic isolation to go with the route it is now. So yeh! We almost got an actual dickhead ex-bf Sammy ooooh👀 (I do like him the way I ended up writing him<3)

honestly, he never understood why people would gush over their s/o back then

it was always: "waaah! _____ is so cool!" or "_____ is the most beautiful girl ever.."

then, he got into a relationship with you

"your cheeks're so cute, darlin'." atsumu pokes one while you hiss at his statement. you can't stand people who comment about your cheeks!

oh, but atsumu thinks you're just like an angry little kitten

so with a childish smile, here he is stretching your cheeks like they're daifuku.

when your cheeks are full from eating, akaashi thinks that you look just like a little hamster

y'know how a hamster stores food in their cheeks and they puff up a ton?

yeah, that's how akaashi sees you.

"keiji, s'there sumthin' wrong?" you manage to say from your mouthful of food

"please don't talk while you eat, angel." he reminds you, wiping off a small speck of rice from your chin

akaashi makes a mental note to add a hamster emoji at the end of your contact name later

SAKUSA KIYOOMI

he doesn't like pda, nor does he like physical contact in general

though he can't help but be a little bit curious as to how your round cheeks feel against his pointer finger

this may be unusual but i really like vore that is safe and fatal simultaneously. by that I mean, for whatever reason, there is prey that is safe fro digestion, mingling with prey that is BEING digested.

Maybe the safe prey ENJOYS this, either it was an enemy or they are just a pred stuck in a prey's body and their pred best friend lets them have front row seats

Or its HORRIFYING for the prey, maybe they know why they are spared, or maybe they dont. either way. its horrific.

Maybe they are even ambivalent to it, just like meh, guess my friend had to eat something/someone and didnt bother to get me out first.

Nene’s Dead Corpse and her ghost bf

randomly made a crap ton more sense to me

why?

fricking school (screw school I hate you (no not rly I’m just stressed))

Anyway I’m a biomed class where unit 1 is studying medical investigations forensic science style

and one of the things is like, what happens to a person after the body has been dead for a while (post mortem or sum, see im learning :D)

Things like algor mortis, livor mortis, I’ve heard of. In fact I’ve even studied the clouding of the corneas before, but it never got to me till today

maybe it’s cause I cannot for the life of me study forensics without my wild imagination giving me nightmares or just panicking when I’m alone but aNyWays

I tend to imagine characters associated with death in these scenarios so I don’t lose it in class💀

*cough* Nene *cough cough*

So as I was taking notes on the slideshow, some of the images of clouded corneas reminded me strangely of something familiar, but at that point I couldn’t tell. There’s something haunting about the eyes (or maybe it’s just my over-analytical brain loving small details like this) they’re GORGEOUS

IDK THEYRE PRETTY

Maybe it’s ‘cause the true color of the iris is completely visible in all its glory, without the pupil obscuring it

(something like this?? A little vivid tho lol)

but like

there’s no

life

no reflection, no emotion…nothing (which is so hauntingly beautiful leave me alone I’m a sucker for this now)

it’s literally just an eye with nothing but color

and then it hit me…it’s exactly the look Nene had when Mirai fast-forwarded her time

you can see in the image it’s just her plain magenta eyes with a fuzzy de-saturated blob in the center…aka clouded corneas

And that honestly made me realize that in this scene she’s not—she’s not even unconscious

No she’s literally, physiologically dead

THAT IS A CORPSE HE IS HOLDING

she is literally a dead body this hits me so hard😭😭

and I can imagine algor mortis kicked in by then, her body was probably cold to the touch

so imagine how he felt, and I’m aware people have analyzed his emotions but just think about it

he’s always seen her so full of life and hope, and now all he has left is an empty shell of her, cold and dead with no life left inside

…just like him

the more I think about it Hanako is just an animated corpse

he has no reflection in his eyes most of the time because he is ✨dead✨

I mean Mei, Mitsuba, and Hanako don’t have a little white reflection dot like Nene and Kou

Or maybe I’m overthinking it and Nene’s eyes are just super reflective

even for someone who presumably took his own life, he probably never saw tsukasa’s body start postmortem and actually feel dead bc it looked extremely bloody ngl (I’m guessing he killed himself right after 💔)

and now he’s holding someone he cares about like this for the first time and I’ll bet that scarred him

and he figured out that never, never ever did he ever want to see his sweet assistant like this again, lifeless in his arms

and so after that, cue Hanako in his villain era who basically became a yandere the entire picture perfect lmao

and he was unbelievably adamant about it too

I mean honestly if I held anybody I knew lifeless like that I’d be scarred for life and crying for days

seeing the light drained from someone’s eyes is so interestingly sad to me

She still has so much emotion in her eyes

So like, what if B’elanna and Kes dated each other, instead of their lousy boyfriends? Like what then?

My thoughts about them is under the cut, I just wanted to say some stuff in the tags but then I had too much to say :” D

this is basically a crack pair lmao I think they never even interact in canon, but I had this ooold drawing of them that I wanted to redraw and then I had so much fun with it

Basically my thinking behind this was that I think their personalities have a nice contrast. At first I think B'elanna would think Kes is a bit of a pushover, but with time I think Kes would be someone B'ellana could feel safe with because she is so non judgemental, and that would be a good mix with how selfconcious B'elanna is of her klingon heritage and temper, that a lot of other characters give her shit for and neg her even when she is acting perfectly normal tbh. I think they would appreciate each other's work ethics and persistence slash stubborness when it comes to things they believe in. and I think Kes is maybe not written very consistently but I remeber her being very even tempered and I think maybe she could benefit from picking up some of B'elanna expressiveness or “temper’” so to speak. And yeah I think Kes could become someone B'ellana isn't constantly self monitoring and holding back in front of when they are together in fear that she is too much, too aggressive, too klingon, and maybe it could start that it's B'elanna who is helping out in the infirmary not Tom!

Basically their canon boyfriends are often/can be jelous, possesive, negging or controlling, especially and mostly Neelix, I wouldn’t say Tom is ever controlling and he gets pretty good as a husband, but still I didn’t really finish the series being swept up in their relationship so that’s probably why I was like but what if...women loving women? And you know if I was writing fic or could bend time continuum to my will and change the show I wouldn’t want Kes/B’ellana to be pure unproblematic fluff either cuz I do love some drama, but not the realisticly lousy boyfriend kind of drama I guess :”D

Hey tthere, I have a question. It's kind of a weird one, you don't need to answer if it makes you feel uncomfortable.

What's the difference of foreskin and no foreskin? Like, is it that visible? And does it affect how it feels for him/her? And wtf "pull it back"? I am utterly confused.

Not a weird question at all, and I for one have never seen a cut penis so there we go :D!

Foreskin is pretty visible yeah when it’s flaccid, like it covers the whole tip usually? And men have to pull it back in order to pee, wash etc. But when ummmm it gets hard it sort of pulls back by itself and the look of it, (I presume?!) doesn’t differ much from a cut, erect penis? Please someone correct me if I’m wrong!!

And as with men and cocks in general, they come in many sizes so some men have “tighter” foreskin and some have “oversized”, more loose foreskin, again, don’t know how to explain but they’re *really really cute* and when he gets hard it feels like Christmas when the tip comes to say hello! ❤️ ^^

History Repeating: "so then what to do when we know what's coming? stay and see it through, or start running? [..] over and over, i know i'm not alone here [..] don't say anything, i know where we've been, and i've got a feeling this is history repeating! when this crashes down i won't be around, 'cause i've got a feeling this is history repeating now!" // there's a time loop joke in here, obviously, what with "history repeating" being very literal. Navigator's involvement in all of this is... interesting? he's omniscient, he knows what's happening, but for once this isn't history repeating like it always has-- something has changed, and everyone needs to make a choice on what to do about it.

I.D.: "now everything inside of me is calling out "are you listening?" [..] i've been keeping this thought that if i spend all my time as what i'm not that i would find it in me to tell you to leave, but here you are and you won't [..] it hasn't been the same since you told me your name" // the way Navigator and Sapphire treat each other is. so much. i keep thinking about Nav telling Sapph he hates talking to them and that they won't speak again. theyre a mismatched pair that almost fit together, but not quite, and the more Sapphire spirals the less Navigator wants to do with her.

The Island / Just Hesitation (HES3 Edit): "what are you waiting for? as we go towards the light" // this is a weird one. Just Hesitation isn't on Spotify, so i had to sub in the song it samples from. which still works! but the intention is for it to be Just Hesitation. i wrote a whole ramble about it as a song and why it has Navigator vibes for me. thanks for coming to my ted talk

Dreamland: "does everybody live in a dreamland? is this dreamland all that we know? [..] i'm tired of feeling like i'll never serve a purpose! future killers, smoke and mirrors, yeah just be yourself! [..] searching the universe for something we can do, and living to fight another day! [..] I GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS WASTELAND, 'CAUSE THIS WASTELAND AIN'T HOME!" // i will readily admit that this is a targeted attack. this also is kinda pulling on my theory about where Navigator came from and what happened to him before TSMP.

On the Run: [instrumental] // this is a bop. also something something why are you running / what are you running from, although i guess right now we don't know if Navigator is running from (or to?) anything.

Nostalgic Vibes: "so many places i could be, sense of adventure got me beat, i've got it, you want me [..] mystery surrounds you, my love, don't just walk away! [..] let me recall for a while, you've got to set me free, yeah" // On the Run, Nostalgic Vibes, and Donderdag are in the segment i like to call "no thoughts just vibes". hope this helps.

Donderdag: [instrumental] // the thing with including instrumentals on these is it's really hard for me to explain why. there's no lyrics to point at and i'm not very articulate when it comes to explaining why instrumentals stand out to me. the vibes are there and it's a nice transition between Nostalgic Vibes and Hydrogenuine.

Hydrogenuine: "care to play a game? this experiment has chemically altered my brain! [..] 11 is the number i seem assigned to, inversions of an opposite truth aligns you, directions like the back of your hand will guide you, i am simply here to assist and remind you! i am simply here to assist and remind you!" // this was on the Viking & Ruby playlist for Navigator purposes and i'm bringing it back. the chorus is what really drives this for me and i cannot let it go. we need more Navigator and Ruby interactions please please please please please

Radar: "trouble on a radar, just gonna fly right under!" // this was a contender for a tViking song (before Navigator was even a thing) but got dropped from the playlist early on. i think it's fun to bring it back for Nav considering him being the warning sign and the thing with tViking going under the radar.

Dreamcatcher: "close my eyes and i'm predictable, i'm invincible, for you [..] i'm afraid i'm not enough. I'M NOT ENOUGH! [..] circles, cycles, why do you torture me? dreamcatcher, i'm falling but not asleep!" // shoutouts to Solar for saying the worlds "circles, cycles" in chat during a Sapphire lore scene and this entire song playing in my head at 2x speed.

WHAT YOU GONNA DO??? - "shiny on the surface, rotten on the inside [..] you got control, got my attention! make me tap and scroll, you got control, you got my attention! you got us listening, so what you gonna do, now what you gonna do with it? [..] so who am i, you decide, inside out you read my mind, what you gonna do with it?" // this is a general TSMP song and one that would've made it onto the Viking & Ruby playlist if i'd thought of it in time. the chorus and ending are peak Navigator vibes, though. "so who am i, you decide" is something i'm calling attention to as a fun meta thing, though, seeing as basically everything about Nav is speculation or in response to something.

ØCULIST: "white noise, i'm tied down from the first time i heard it! so, my sister static, hold on my hardened heart! [..] i can't help but can assist, see through you like an oculist, a universal hologram, these crimes will make you hollow, man!" // i love area 11 but trying to get me to explain how any of their songs relate to the blorbo of the hour is a losing battle.

Redshift: "we accelerate, we separate and fragment! we accelerate, through the estate of outer space! we accelerate! it appears that heaven's been abandoned [..] i climbed down from the wall where i sit and search for a source of light other than our dear sun, the lone star [..] a supergiant erupts into a supernova! the ultimate sacrifice, and we are the descendants!" // Aces asked me a while ago if Redshift is a Navigator song and it was on the "maybe" table for a while. then i went through like 5 different Enter Shikari songs for this playlist and it kept being not-quite-right until i pressed play on Redshift and it all clicked into place. hey, Navigator, how does it feel knowing you're the only one that knows about the missing piece? how does it feel subbing in for space himself? how does it feel being created because someone else is gone?

Don't Try - [Everything Everything Remix]: "the clock is ticking, meanwhile your life, your life is wasting [..] i know you mean a long time, saw your mask in the mirror, and you don't want to be here anymore [..] and yeah there's nothing alright, but you're here and you're glowing, so why you wanna keep it all inside? don't try to hide it!" // this is kinda where my characterization of Navigator starts to settle in, i think. he's tired but obligated to be who he is. plus, y'know, he's having to literally hide his existence, but that's going to fall apart no matter how hard he tries. note: the Spotify lyrics are wrong. there's two versions of this song with completely different lyrics.

Underline the Black: "how can i forget, what reason is left? when i looked at myself, i was somebody else [..] i just look, don't feel like myself at all, i'm just waiting for the axe to fall, and they're still waiting for their lives to start" // another case of "taking some lyrics literally" for the fun of it. tViking being an anomaly and also being the one Navigator is hijacking is a fun combination. there's also whatever Navigator might've been before, and what he's become to fill his role. is there still a way out or is this his life forever? everything's still at the beginning, but he's seen this play out so many times before.

Younger: "lie in wait by the gleaming city gate, try not to lose sight of the mission! [..] moment close at hand, half of you will never understand, and it doesn't really matter [..] it never hurts to give thanks to the navigator, even when he's spitting out random numbers." // another carry-over from the Viking and Ruby playlist, suggested by Charm! Naaaav what is your deaaaaaal

Undercover Agents: "i am currently under construction, thank you for your patience. we veneer, unveil, we present a cold disguise, we're all undercover agents [..] and i said if you want to go far and wide now, we've got to go together! [..] yeah i'm howling, can you hear us now? i was seeking another life and the moon was so bright! [..] it's only in our heads." // using this song in particular is weird for me because it's so heavily ingrained as another character. but that other character has some thematic overlap with Navigator, so it makes sense that the song clicks too.

Mirror: "yeah, do your worst all at once! i know what you want from me, from me, i know what you're thinking! [..] i'm tired of your questioning, you're cut down too easily, i don't know what's good for me, i can't decide [..] you're nearly there, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, it will all be okay in the end" // more Navigator and Sapphire struggling with each other. the ending is kind of their justifications to themselves: they need to keep going because there has to be a light at the end of this somewhere. they can both be free somehow. in the meantime, though, they're going to fight and they're going to tear each other down as much as they build each other up. "you and i are not going to talk again." "i missed talking to you."

Let's Get This Over With: "even when you're out of work, you still have a job to do! even when you don't know what it is, your job knows what it is. what it is, is it's coming to get you, i'm talking to myself even when i'm saying "you" [..] after all the spelling mistakes, after all the groping in the dark, can this page of strange gibberish get a final punctuation mark? [..] everybody knows how this goes, so let's get over it and let's get this over with! hurry up, and let's get this over with! you don't have to go home but you can't stay here!" // GESTURES. NAVIGATOR. BOTTOM TEXT.

Zuko likes music (Iroh mentiones he’s talented with the Tsungi horn) and his swords I also think he would have picked up dancing at some point with how he moved during dance of the dragons.

When he’s around people he trusts he emotes more with his face and masks less in general and I’d say if he felt safe enough he’d do more overt (for him) stimms like humming, minor rocking or tugging on his hair Iroh would be one of his safe people and eventually the gaang would be too

*I don’t think he’d have very obvious stimms in general being raised royal he’d be expected to act a certain way and hand flaps are not it. Also flaming 💩lord Ozai would have seen any aberrations as weakness and stamped that shit out fast

*I honestly think it could be one of the reasons the flaming 💩lord despises Zuko being inherently different would be a weakness in his eyes and reflect badly on him

I think he and May get along well because they’re both autistic and are a safe space for each other. she has trouble processing her emotions he has trouble controlling his they make good emotional counter balances

He cares so much about the people and animals around him even his enemies a strong sense of justice is a common sign of autism and speaking out of turn was the initial reason for his banishment.

He’s so socially awkward he doesn’t know how to talk with people instead of at them his entire pep talk to himself and subsequent introduction to the gaang when he tries to join them is peak “how do you do fellow kids” and his “that’s rough buddy” is as iconic as it is socially inept.

The guy totally hyper fixated on hunting the Avatar and when he could no longer find his purpose in it and realised he was wrong he did not cope

He has no tackt. none. and he takes things at face value and he hates lying his humour is also a little left leaning and he tries to relate to others and their experiences as a way of bonding.

While he’s not a prodigy fire bender like his sister he found ways around his limitations that helped accentuate his natural talents like his sword fighting (dancing would help with sword work) being incorporated into his bending (I don’t remember any other character bending with weapons).

He’d know a lot about tea from Iroh and I think he enjoyed working in the tea shop

Holy shit, I can't unsee Zuko as autistic now. Like it's impossible. He's so perfectly coded to be on the spectrum. He's generally monotone, until he's not, and that's always when he's dealing with big emotions. He'd be a lip biter for sure.

Zuko doing dance as a stim 😍 the first time the Gaang sees him dancing when he thinks he's alone, they'd be so supportive, and have no idea what that would mean to him.

Fire lord Zuko infodumping about tea to some random person who tried to ask if he'd like them to make him some, as he heats the tea himself with his bending, and damn if that isn't the best tea that servant has ever had in their life.

OKAY THEORY TIME :D

Chapter 1 and 2 spoilers

I've been reminded of the vote for the first trial again (thanks Weeby Newz). If you don't remember the results, 13 people voted for Min as the culprit and 2 people voted for Teruko. But, who voted for Teruko? I'm late to the party, but I'm 95% sure the two people who did so are:

David

This one is purely circumstantial, but I really think David voted for Teruko out of spite. He was the main one refuting Teruko's claims during the trial, for no good reason at all. I guess David seems to hate Teruko just for existing.

This is especially prevalent with these quotes from episode 8, when David defends Xander, when it's so obvious that Teruko isn't the murderer.

I'm gonna rant for a second (you can skip this if you want).

David was SOOOO dumb in this trial. Like dude, Xander is DEAD, why are you defending him? There's no fucking way that Teruko killed Xander when XANDER is the one who stabbed her. Now that I think about it, it kind of reminds me of when Makoto defended Sayaka in Danganronpa 1, despite the fact that Sayaka framed him for murder. Even in that case, there wasn't a whole lot of evidence that didn't point to Makoto.

Anyway, moving on.

2. Teruko

Yeah, I think Teruko voted for herself. I suspected it for a while, but this quote from episode 12 sealed the deal.

Specifically the quote "You voted her as the blackened too, didn't you?" tells me that she's pointing fingers at everyone else, blaming them for something she didn't do, which is vote for Min. It also tells me that Teruko blames herself for Min's death.

I find it interesting that in this context, Teruko doesn't blame Xander for Min's death, since he's the one who tried to kill in the first place.

D. Gray-man theory: The name Lavi and the core nature of the war (because i am a Lavi stan and thought about him 24/7, please come back to us)

First things first, what does the name Lavi have to do with the war?

It's revealed in Komui's Lounge in Volume 26 that the name Bookman Jr. uses while making a record of a war will become the name of the log, making it easier to search for.

From this information, one can guess that the name would be somewhat related to the war instead of being a random name.

Now, onto the first clue. In the title of Chapter 119, Volume 13, Lavi was written as La + Vi, so there is a possibility that the name was derived from two words.

There was a famous word combination that sounds remarkably similar to Lavi, which is "la vie." I bet most people would've heard the phrase "C'est la vie" once in their life. "La vie" is French for "the life," and that's what I think is the meaning behind the name Lavi.

As stated above, the name of the Junior would be the name of the record, and since this war between the Order and the Earl has lasted for hundreds of years, it's very likely that other Juniors had used the name before our Lavi.

One more clue from Komui's Lounge in Volume 26: Wisely, one of the members of the Noah family who still had memories from 35 years ago, seems to recognize the name Lavi. So, I am fairly certain that the previous Bookman Junior is also called "Lavi."

Thanks to Chapter 251, now we know the long-haired man with glasses in Nea's memory was the previous Bookman Junior. The memory also happens to be about the Bookman Junior explaining "the spiral of life" and "evolution."

Combining all the clues above with another theory of mine about innocence and akuma (which I will write about later), I strongly believe the core nature of this war was about the desire to control and create life - by someone who wants to replace God, to become a god himself.

This theory also ties closely to my thoughts about the Earl and the Heart, which I'll share on another day. And if you've read this far, thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

don't mind me I'm just going insane over nandor's rings

OK OK OK SO idk WHY but my brain suddenly remembered this post by someguywife and it got me wondering how long has he owned those rings?

disclaimer: 100% looking too deep into this and most likely going insane also for the most part I only focused on old photos in the show since I doubt they would go out of their way to edit the rings onto the paintings for nandor

first I looked through the intro and for the most part the rings are nowhere to be seen.

(side note: didn't notice that the last photo was taken on the same night as the new years eve photo :D)

anyway I say for the most part cause of this fucking photo...

Now I don't know shit about polaroids but there's some numbers at the bottom of these photos.

This probably means something but after looking it up all the info I could find talks about numbers on the BACK of a photo so that's fuuuuuuuun. I would keep looking into this but I keep going in circles so please if you have any idea what 090111225 4 could mean please let me know It's driving me fucking crazy. I'm assuming it could translate into a date but idk it could mean nothing.

now looking at the outfits in the photo I'd say this is in the 70s maybe? idk I also suck at analyzing clothes so for now this photo is a dead end WHICH SUCKS CAUSE IT'S ONLY GOING TO GO DOWNHILL FROM HERE!

IF this is the 70s then on we have a rough estimate of WHEN he got them but that's just the intro what about in actual episodes.

if we go back to s2e8 collaborations we get a look at nandor in the 70s when he shows us photos of him and is old familiar benjy aND GUYS GUESS WHAT? N O F U C K I N G R I N G S

the latest date we see on one of those photos is 1974 so around the mid to late 70s he got his ring grea- oh what's that? there's more? greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...

so going from season 2 to season 3 on s3e3 gail we also get to see some more old photos of our fav cringefail. he says they've been on and off for 30 to 40 years and doing the math that means they met around the early 80s so surely he should have his rings by now right? RIGHT?

at first no BUT THEN

DING DING DING I SEE A FUCKING RING FOLKS

so the next photo shows him celebrating new years with her and she looks to be around the same age SO THAT MEANS HE GOT THE RING IN THE LATE 90- wait the fuck a minute...

huh... WELP SHIT THIS GOT COMPLICATED!

so looking at the photo booth photos again it's most likely the rings nandor usually wears so you'd think he'd be wearing them since you know HE WEARS THEM ALL THE TIME!? but NOPE he's wearing this red ring instead.

and in the next photo you can't tell at all what ring he's wearing.

so what does this all mean? well here's my current theory:

at some point when he was first with gail he got his rings (whether it was a gift or something he picked up idk) so around the 80s or 90s but he didn't wear them as often as he does now.

head cannon: after guillermo complimented the rings we see him wear in the show he made sure to wear those specific rings everyday

Sorry to invade your inbox but I recently went to a conclusion about the "dark top emo Law" after doing some academic researches (looking at/reading Punk hazard and Dressrosa again) I had an epiphany

Dark top emo Law is how he WANTS to be perceived. he tries so so hard to be like. "oh I'm so badass I have a dark cold voice I never smile and stupidity annoys me" but the fact is he CAN'T maintain this appearance more than five minute straights (the only people buying it are probably Penguin Shachi and Bepo - or they ACT like they buy it to please him maybe idk). He will do his signature smirk and speak with this cold voice and flex his little tiny muscles in fight and steal some hearts and you could believe it for a few second if it wasn't IMMEDIATELY followed by him doing an extremly nerdy thing. Picture this :

"I'm Trafalgar D. Water Law, the surgeon of death, doctor heartstealer, you'll never know my feelings and... OH is it ACTUALLY a coin from the last century they're pretty rare can I have it? if you look at them the grooves indicate metal erosion that..." and then he infodump for like 30 minutes.

I think that hanging with the strawhats & the kid pirates will eventually make him accept that being a nerd is 1000% hotter and cool than being a dark emokid and he'll embrace this side of his personnality.

this is all entirely true but i don't think he will ever get over himself and embrace it HAHA someday though... he will find someone, somewhere, who earnestly believes he is super cool and not lame... and you may be thinking now "oh like luffy" no the caveat is that person also has to listen to him. this day will not come for a very very long time.

Devil fruits are meta if you think about it

Crackpot theory time!!!

So today I was daydreaming about a fanfic I read while paying my bills (Like an average person) and remembered how it described the X-gene could give mutant powers in Marvel (I swear this will make sense).

In short, the X-gene works like eldritch magic (The Dr. Strange thingy), by basically pulling energy from a random dimension of the multiverse, the human body will proceed to evolve accordingly and maybe get you superpowers and mutant traits (I guess this is how spiderman kinda works as well? don't quote me on that).

Thus, as long as long as you can imagine a superpower, it will exist due to parallel universes being infinite in possibilities. Cool right?

AND THEN IT HIT ME

Vegapunk describes Devil fruits as possible evolutions of humankind being brought by desire (the whole possible/parallel universe/future is kinda similar and my brain made the connection there)

BUT, we can see that with GEAR 5, the superpowers can be a lot more meta in nature, by literally making the reader smile with its silliness :D

So this got me thinking, devil fruits are a manifestation of desire/dreams/wishes right?

In-universe it sounds a bit goofy, one piece kind of goofy though, that, by literally wishing for something to exist, it will manifest itself through sheer willpower (Haki and other shit tends to work like that in this universe, like people becoming more beautiful if they follow their dreams and that stuff)

But from a 'meta' perspective, doesn't this literally mean that any power could manifest itself because it is a shonen manga? that as long as SOMEONE could imagine it, it could become reality by being written in?

If one smoked enough crack, they could even argue that devil fruits have a will of their own because they are being written in with some purpose by the author.

Like, by that logic, of course, Doflamingo got the fruit that let him cage a whole country and control people remotely, its power is literally part of his whole theme as a character and douche bag manipulator!!!

Anyways thank you for coming to my ted talk, I'm gonna proceed to scream into a pillow for a few minutes and then become normal again.
