So.... There are modders out there who work to create stuff, stuff that you don't need to play the game and it takes them time and knowledge but you don't want to pay them? Okay. Maybe i'm the one who doesn't understand the problem? They work, they propose a product that you are in no way forced to buy but you don't want to? Then don't buy it? People donnt work for free what is this the 1660? What is the problem someone explain.

Let me make this clear nonny since u didn't want to show yourself. I am ALL for supporting people who make content. I do it all the time. I donate and I've pledged for many creators' Patreon. The issue I have is when EA (which I also dislike sometimes) told creators a while ago that you can't perma-wall content that is made for their games. And some creators do and in regards to the 1st decision EA made they decided to either 1. ignore the rules and start cussin out EA or 2. delete their shit instead of simply complying to the rules of the company where they're making unsupported add-ons for. Yes those that truly put their time and effort into making amazing CC and are kind to their supporters should and DO get their money. I hope you realize that. I also do want to make it clear that making CC for intellectual property that isn't your own shouldn't be your job. It can be a side hustle that can get you out of hard times but it shouldn't be full time job i.e. doordash. If you aren't taking care of yourself to make CC for people so you can get MONEY that's an issue.

I don't and will never have a problem with early access creators. They are complying with EA's rules. I have an issue with creators taking it out on the community and abusing rules and now they're upset bc they ruined it for everyone. Also why the FUCK would I buy $50 pixels. I'm sorry. I've never paid more than $20 for the sims or any dlc. I'm not paying $50 for some pixels that are going to clip. And cc that has been locked since 2019? When early access is supposed to be 2-3 weeks (I believe) and then you release for free. No MA'AM! Not around here. One last thing, personally for me the only thing I find FAIR to lock cc is when it's custom per someone's request. like commissions. So there you have it. I hope you have a blessed day!

maybe a weird/selfish question/request but have you considered maybe dropping fic updates on patreon when you’re comfortable? stuff like Solar Lunacy or whatever you might feel like doin, or would that still feel too tense for you? i understand if so!

I'm sorry but I can't do that for reasons even outside of my comfort zone! I'm not sure about other countries, but in mine fanwriting and fanart have different grey areas when it comes legality: fanart is more greenlight than fanwriting is. Plus i'm a very firm believer of not having fanfiction being put behind a paywall

#my artwork is still early access and not exclusive so people who cant afford to support me can still see finished things eventually #supporters get wips and sai files avaliable to them but most of my work is done outside of patreon (and stickers but theyre slow to ship)#people supporting me on patreon means i get to produce more stuff outside of patreon that they can see in other places #patreon is my only source of income as a disabled creator rn so i dont want to risk it or go back on my belief by posting my written works #sorry!

i follow sims blogs to keep track of custom content but my fucking god the amount of petty as shit drama that goes on over there- it’s like being back at school but instead of being all teenagers, it’s mostly ppl in their 20s and 30s

Post+ is going away in January 2024.

We originally introduced Post+ to uplift and support the vast swathes of incredible creators here on Tumblr. It was intended as a way for creators to offer content to their followers in a paid subscription format.

Well, it didn't land as we'd hoped. We've heard your feedback and monitored usage, and after much consideration, we've decided to remove Post+ from Tumblr.

Here's the timeline:

As of December 1, 2023, you will no longer be able to enable Post+ on your blogs.

Existing Post+ content will remain accessible through the end of this year.

In early 2024, we'll remove the ability to create new Post+ content, and existing Post+ content will be marked as private. From then on, it'll be up to each creator to determine whether they want to make those posts public.

Subscribers will no longer be billed starting January 2024. If you subscribed using In-App Purchase from an iOS device, you’ll need to cancel your subscription manually to avoid being charged.

You can read more about this change over here.

And, while Post+ is going away, Tipping is here to stay. You can enable Tipping via your Blog Settings on web (Account Settings on mobile). Once a blog has Tipping enabled, any original post can receive a Tip, with the money going directly to the creator.

love how, EA, The Sims, is literally selling permanently paywalled mods and you guys are upset some Guy can still make you pay 5 bucks a month for early access. Half of The Sims fanbase Needs mods/cc to play and yet there punishing those who Make there game Playable for wanting to make money from there hard work.

I’ve read a few of the umpteen thousand upset comments about the paid Watcher service, and I’ve read comments angry about the upset comments. There’s one thing I want to point out, and it’s that this isn’t, or shouldn’t be, “You’re saying people don’t deserve to earn money for their work.”

The Watcher guys do deserve to earn money. I already give them money. I give them $5 a month on Patreon, not because I think they do or don’t give me $5 worth of media, but because I want to support them. I canceled Netflix for pissing me off with its price hike/ad tier, but I give Watcher Entertainment money.

They’re saying now that the Patreon will be solely about the podcasts, and they understand if people leave. I’m perfectly happy to switch the support I can afford to the streaming service. With the early adopter 30% discount, I’d actually save money. In fact, I tried to subscribe, but the site didn’t work.

Watcher wanting to profit from their shows isn’t the problem. It’s that they’re now discovering that their fanbase is young and broke in a terrible economy, judging by tens of thousands of comments on multiple platforms. I can throw them $5/month, so I do. But the Patreon only has (checks notes) 5874 paying followers, and there’s a reason for that. $60/year upfront would not be “accessible.” Patreon is literally patronage from the people who can afford it.

If the guys had said up front, “ONLY new shows and episodes will be exclusive to the service,” I think we’d be having a different conversation right now. But at first they did say, “We’re pulling all our content from YouTube,” to the point where Variety had to issue an update. Like, that’s in print and I’m pretty sure it was on video. Now they’ve backtracked to ONLY new etc.—but most people haven’t heard, and they feel crushed. And the trust is probably gone regardless.

So now four years of back catalogue will stay public. And now, you’re paying $6.99 a month for one episode, maybe two, of something a week, and now, not an exclusive back catalogue. I would pay for Watcher shows before I’d pay for anyone else, but I just don’t think the company is big enough yet for a SVOD at that price. They’re not Dropout size. They needed to build more programming and get a higher follower count first, or at the very least, charge less.

The international price/exchange rate situation is a nightmare and I don’t know what it is they’re not doing to make it… not… be like that.

I don’t know what they should have done instead of a full streaming service, but surely there were alternatives? I’ve seen comments from people suggesting they GET a Patreon. Lean on that more! Do the shows exclusive for a month and then let them roll onto YouTube! I don’t know! Anything but One More Fucking Streaming Service, which enraged me, and I was willing to move my support to it!

And I shouldn’t say this, but I will. In the “Goodbye YouTube” video the guys posted, they say that setting up the streaming service has allowed Steven to do a remake of Worth It where he and his cohosts travel the world and eat expensive food. This is the first new show they announce. Not “We have always been committed to diversity and we’re now able to bring on new creator(s) to expand our programming.” No, a redo of an old show that by definition has got to be expensive. Commenters are saying they can’t pay for the streaming service because they can’t make ends meet in this economy. The optics are terrible. I genuinely question what the thought process even was here.

I love the guys and I still watch their shows. I want to see Watcher succeed. I started watching Buzzfeed Unsolved in 2018 while recovering from surgery—as with a lot of people, their shows got me through a tough time. I’m as attached as anyone. If I can continue to afford monthly support—this is not a certainty—I’ll give it to them. I’m not a ~hater who doesn’t want Watcher to make money. But I am absolutely BAFFLED by every single decision here. I want them to figure out how to turn this around and go in a better direction, because right now, this ain’t it.
