Hey could I please request headcanons for how Dean would react to reader texting him "she's busy" as a joke, yk kind of like
Dean: Hey baby
Reader: She's busy
I really hope this makes sense and isn't so confusing 😭😭
Ooh I think I know what you mean. 😏
Pairing: Dean Winchester x F. Reader Word Count: 850
Imagine: Texting Dean when he's on a hunt.
Tumblr media
Once again, Dean sighed while he waited on his brother.
They were stopped at a 7-Eleven gas station after a hunt, but Dean had long ago filled up Baby's tank. Sam was inside, grabbing a few snacks for the road tomorrow. Supposedly.
Dean fished out his phone from his pocket and texted him.
Hey, Driving Miss Daisy. You good in there?
A couple of minutes later, Sam responded.
Yeah, just getting a few things.
Dean rolled his eyes. Right.
For half an hour? What, you taking a shit or something?
Sam's response was testy, just as Dean predicted.
Dean, give me a minute. Jesus.
Dean sighed, with a roll of his eyes. He scrolled back into his texts and found your name. He was a couple of states over from Lawrence, but still within the same timezone. You should still be awake back at the bunker.
He decided he wanted to hear your voice, let you know that he and Sam were going to catch one more night of rest here at the motel before they made the long drive back home.
But...you didn't answer when he called.
Weird. You were typically a night owl, either watching something or plugging away at your laptop. He tried texting you instead.
Hey, baby. You up?
He eventually saw the three gray dots pop up. You were typing...
She's busy.
Dean frowned. What the hell?
Had you invited someone over? Like Jody or Donna?
But neither of them would've replied like that...so he texted back.
Stop messing around.
Dean tried calling you again, but it went directly to voicemail this time. In came another text from "you."
She'll call you back, dude.
Dean's jaw ticked with annoyance. And despite himself, unease began to creep in and churn his stomach.
What the fuck is this?
She's in the shower. I'll tell her to call you back, no worries.
All right. WHO is this?
Ooh, are you the boyfriend? Yikes lol.
A deep, slow breath made it through Dean's nose. He closed his eyes, counted to ten, reminded himself that he did, in fact, love you.
Then he responded.
Babe, if you don't call me in the next 30 seconds, there's gonna be hell to pay when I get home.
Dean checked his watch and actually counted. About ten seconds passed before his phone rang with an incoming call...from you. He answered.
"Promise?" came your teasing voice. When it ended on a giggle, Dean rolled his eyes and rested his head back on the seat. He blew out a frustrated breath.
"Oh, trust and believe. You're gonna fuckin' get it this time," he said, though his lips curved on a reluctant smirk. You full on laughed at him then.
"You make it too easy," you replied.
He knew this. It wasn't the first time you'd teased him, and he knew it wouldn't be the last.
Still, he couldn't help being a bit irritated this time.
"You know, how would you like it if I did that to you?" he asked. "Wouldn't be so fucking funny then, would it?"
"...Okay. You're right. I'm sorry, baby," came your more contrite voice. But he could still hear your smile. Could imagine the way you might soothe a hand along his arm, if you were here.
"How about I make it up to you?" you offered.
That worked a slow smirk onto his face. "Yeah? What did you have in mind?"
For the next few minutes, you purred into his ear about all the things you'd been thinking of while he was gone. Daydreaming about the talents of his hands, lips, and tongue.
In particular, you reminded him about a certain birthday wish that he still hadn't claimed from a couple weeks ago, when he and Sam got wind of this hunt.
Two weeks really was too damn long, in your opinion. (He agreed with you.)
Now with a half-straining bulge in his jeans, Dean licked his lips and tightened his hand on the leather wheel of the car.
"All right. Sounds like a plan to me, sweetheart," he said, deceptively breezy. As if you'd just told him you planned to make tacos for dinner.
"When are you getting home?" you asked.
He heard the tone of your voice, like black silk. It sent a tendril of heat down his spine, raising the hairs on his forearms.
"Tonight," Dean said. Deeper, a note of gravel in his words. "I'll see you tonight."
"Good." Once again, he heard the smile in your voice. "I love you."
He sighed, and raised a hand to card through his hair.
"Love you too...even though you play too fucking much," he muttered the latter bit.
Your laughter once again reached his ears, reluctantly making him smile.
He hung up with you just before Sam finally opened the passenger seat door and climbed in with two hefty grocery bags. Did he do a whole damn shopping spree in there?
...Whatever. Dean shook his head and started the car.
"Change of plan," he said. "We're heading home."
"What? Thought we were gonna catch a few hours of sleep. It's a long drive, Dean," Sam said, earning his brother's gaze.
"Yeah, well, you'll live," Dean snarked. A more devious grin spread across his face. "I've got a date."
And she's about to get punished.
The Impala's tires screeched as Dean pulled out of the parking lot and onto the main road.

AN: Ha! This one was fun. 😘 Thanks for the prompt!

The best part of being his own camp counsellor is that he can wake up whenever the fuck he likes.
Nico’s a fan.
Because, however, his dumb ass made friends with the camp’s head medic, he doesn’t get to sleep in as often as he would like. He is instead often woken up before the clock strikes nine, which is a tragedy and one of the forty thousand reasons he is going to be present on Will’s judgement day. (The scales tip any which way on a regular basis, but as of last week, Will is going to hell. Unfortunate. Nico’ll still visit him, though. Bring him one half of a twizzler or something.) So when he wakes up, one lovely morning, mouth tasting like something rotted in it and sun well past halfway across the sky, he is capital-C Concerned.
What a horrible tragedy that is. Finally, for the first time in months, he was able to sleep in. And his first thought is not gratitude. Solace may indeed have to die — Nico was not this way before he started planting his annoying ass front and centre in Nico’s life. He’s quite fairly certain he used to be frightening and badass. Now Will orders him to drink milk for the sake of his calcium and he does. Gods.
“Morning,” he hedges, approaching the archery range, feeling marginally more alive than twenty minutes prior.
Kayla raises an amused eyebrow. “Dude, it’s, like, two.”
“Well fuck you, then.”
She smirks. “Aw, did baby not get his Sunshine fix of the day? Is that why he’s so grumpy?”
It really sucks that Will is so fond of his siblings. Nico wonders if Will would still like him if he knew how many times he daydreams of transporting Kayla onto the moon per day.
“As soon as I figure out which god would appreciate you as a sacrifice, you’re gone.”
“Yeah, right,” she snorts, turning away and lining up an arrow. She lets it fly, watching as it shaves a splinter off a hunk of wood fifty feet away. “You couldn’t get close enough to kick my ass before I’d skewer you, di Angelo.”
Remembering the warning arrow Kayla had shot through his shoulder last week, he wisely chooses not to press the matter any further. The power visibly goes to her head. Fuck.
“Just — tell me where Will is.”
“Why?” She strings another arrow. The grin on her face is a level of shit-eating that Nico has only before seen on a Stoll. She should spend less time around Julia, or else the camp is in for some serious trouble. “What are your intentions with my dear brother?”
Nico, on principle, refuses to answer that question. Kayla shrugs, finishing her shot and then turning around to stick her tongue out at him.
“No answer, no location! Find him yourself, loverboy. And remember that I am always watching.”
Stomping away, and ignoring the smile twitching at his lips — she is so annoying, truly, gods above he owes Bianca a thousand apologies for ever opening his mouth — he heads towards the infirmary. There are only six locations Will is at any given time, after all, except when he disappears for several hours randomly but Nico doesn’t know how to bring that up yet. As he approaches the infirmary, though, he hears it absolutely blasting with music, like genuinely shaking the ground a little bit, and knows exactly where to find him.
As he approaches the door, wincing at the door, he finds it closed. Odd — Will likes a breeze when he works. Even odder is the hastily-written sign pasted onto it:
ANNUAL CLEAN OUT DAY. IF YOU NEED ME, TOUGH SHIT. IF YOU NEED A BANDAID, TOUGH SHIT. IF YOU’RE BLEEDING OUT, CALL AN AMBULANCE AND PRAY. I AM BUSY.
(‘Busy’ is underlined three times.)
In smaller print, under the all-caps monstrosity, is:
Unless you’re Nico, in which case disregard the previous sentiment. No, Cecil, this does NOT mean you.
The note is written again in Ancient Greek, Latin, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Mandarin, Italian, Polish, Korean, Morse Code, and another ten languages Nico can’t even name. Actually, wait — the top left is Klingon. And middle right note does not appear to be language, showing instead a poorly drawn stick figure in armour being shoved into a cannon and shot into the sun by another poorly drawn stick figure in a lab coat. Nico loves a man who’s multi-talented, indeed.
Hesitantly, Nico cracks open the door. He is immediately assaulted by a solid wall of sound, and then nearly bowled over by the enigma himself, William ‘I Can Restructure A Human Brain But Cannot Tie My Shoelaces’ Solace. He catches himself at the last second, and then barely manages to catch Will, grabbing him around the waist just before his head hits the floor.
“Nico!” he shouts over the music, smiling brightly. “Hi! You’re here!”
“I’m here.” He can physically feel his voice cracking, but luckily the music drowns it out. Hopefully. “Uh, what’re you doing?”
“Cleaning!” Will straightens up, although he stays within the circle of Nico’s arms. Nico tries real hard to keep his gaze firmly planted on his face and not on the hands he still has in his hips. “I do it once a year, kick everybody out and deep clean the place. Helps keep it fresh and minimize the bloodstains on the floor.”
“Ah. And the music…”
“It’s fun!” Will shouts. He gasps when the CD player skips and a new song comes on, heavy base and funky synths blasting so hard the window panes shake. “Oh my gods! I love this one!” He turns his bright grin at Nico full force, absolutely no holdbacks on the dimples or freckles, gods help him, and bows cheekily. “Can I have this dance, good sir?”
“It’s Britney Spears’ Outrageous,” Nico protests weakly.
“Yeah!”
…Very, very weakly.
“…Okay.”
Will whoops, grabbing his hands and spinning him around. Nico yelps, nearly tripping over a cot, but when he looks back up Will has his eyes closed and is shimmying not unlike a worm on a fish hook, and it’s so ridiculous that he can’t help but laugh. Will pries one eye open, grinning widely, and shimmies harder.
“You’re such a dweeb!”
“Join me in the dweebiness! Free yourself!”
Nico rolls his eyes fondly, squeezing Will’s hand, and lets himself get ridiculous. He’ll deny it if anyone asks, but it’s fun.
…And not just because Will is next to him, smile brighter than any star, dancing like a massive dork, hand clasped in his.

you loved your partner, erwin. you really did, but god, he was so…vanilla. and you never came with him.
only when you were thinking of your ex instead.
you hated it so much, but sex with levi was so good. he knew exactly where to touch you, kiss you, what position made you scream his name. and you needed to feel that way again so, so bad.
but you and levi were long over. he broke up with you when you became a squad leader, never really explaining why. but you knew well he was just scared. levi had lost too many people in his life, that any new ones he just pushed away. you never tried reasoning with him, you knew it would fall on deaf ears anyway.
and then, you and erwin smith became much, much closer than before. all those late nights in his office, discussing tactics and helping him with mountains of paperwork brought you closer, and closer, until you were sharing secret kisses in dim-lit hallways, until he changed the squad positions to have you close to him, until he fell down on one knee two years later and asked you to marry him when everything was over. of course you said yes, and you were beaming and showing off that tiny diamond on your finger, until everything went to shit.
hange had warned you that erwin is in love with his job. you just never knew it would get so bad, to the point he came to sleep in your shared bed once every two weeks, only pecked your lips in a rush when you asked, only fucked you once in a full moon.
you were still in love with levi ackerman. and now you were standing at the annual gala for the survey corps, in a long blue gown, staring your ex boyfriend up and down. your table was filled with wine glasses, and someone would think you had company, but you were all alone since the start of the event. levi was listening to hange babbling about whatever, his pink lips in contact with a whiskey glass every few seconds.
god, you could eat him up right then and there.
what am i thinking? you brought your cold palm against your burning cheek, opting to look for your fiancé instead. he was nowhere to be found, of course. a gala basically in his honour and he was gone.
your eyes fell on levi again. he was wearing a black button-down, sleeves rolled up and black pants. so simple, but so, delicious.
the glass almost fell from your hand when he locked eyes with you.
oh god, he’s coming. make a turn, make a turn, don’t-
“hey, levi.” you gave a half embrace and kissed his cheek, your cheap lipstick leaving a faint red mark right on his cheekbone.
“you look beautiful.” was all he said. “and drunk.”
“i’m not drunk,” you scoffed, “this is my second drink.”
“what, in the last ten minutes?” he motioned to the table and your cheeks turned bright red. “where’s your husband?” his tongue was bitter with sarcasm.
“he’s not my husband. and i don’t know.” you mumbled, embarrassed. what kind of fiancée doesn’t know where her partner is?
“want to get some air?” you only nodded, following him out of the main hall and to a bench overlooking the walls. it was a starry night, the moon was full and you felt like a teenager again. just like you were when you and levi first met.
you watched intently as his hand reached in his pocket for a packet of slim cigarettes. he sighed when he realised his lighter was nowhere to be found, but you came quickly to his rescue. opening your purse, you took out a silver lighter, the initials L.A engraved on the side in tiny letters. levi was surprised you still had that, his eyes never leaving that stupid rock on your ring finger as he let you light his cigarette. he offered you one as well, now his turn to light it for you. your eyes met his. were you wrong to think they were full of longing? was he wrong to think yours were filled with regret?
“don’t tell him i’m smoking.”
“dear husband doesn’t allow it?” you rolled your eyes at his comment.
“he just hates it.”
“it’s a good thing he doesn’t kiss you then. he won’t smell it on your breath.” you turned your head surprised. how did he know?
“everyone knows, y/n.” he replied without you even having to ask. you sighed, staring at the burning cigarette in your hand.
“great. the survey corps’ walking anecdote, ladies and gentlemen.” you bowed to an invisible audience, leaning back on the bench with a frustrated sigh.
“what are you even doing with him?”
“it’s none of your business.”
“it is when i hear you moaning in the supply closet every night.” you let out a surprised gasp. how did he say these things so freely?
“the only person masturbating around cleaning products could be you, levi.”
“then who’s that moaning my name in there? every single night. at 2 o’clock sharp.” his voice came out in a whisper, lips touching your ear as he spoke. shivers ran down your spine and your eyes were burning with guilty tears.
“sounds like you have a secret admirer.”
“sounds like erwin can’t make you cum.”
“shut up!” you got up, looking out in the distance. two familiar arms snaked around your waist, locking against your lower stomach. wet lips came in contact with your neck, and you wanted to pull away so bad. to leave, run to your fiancé and kiss him.
but you couldn’t. and you didn’t.
because it was levi you were in love with.
“levi,” you whimpered and he swore his knees would give right then and there.
“shh. let me have this, let you have this.” he was kissing that spot right behind your ear, his hands roaming your body over your dress.
“someone could see us, levi.” you warned him.
“bet it would turn you on.” fuck, he knew what he was doing. “my room. ten minutes.”
levi went around the building and you went back into the main hall, falling right into erwin’s arms.
“i’ve been looking all over for you.” he scanned your face with worried eyes. “you look…”
“i can feel a migraine starting, erwin. i was just out getting some air.”
“okay, go get some sleep, alright? i’ll be in soon.” your heart skipped a beat.
“no, have fun tonight. you deserve it.” you reached up and kissed his lips softly, tears brimming your eyes.
you practically sprinted to levi’s room, head spinning and heart pounding like crazy. you knocked on the door and levi opened in mere seconds, as if he was standing right behind it waiting for you.
“you took too long.” he took you in his embrace, letting his forehead touch yours as you shut the door behind you.
“i ran into erwin.” you bit your bottom lip when levi showed the slightest hint of annoyance. he pushed you against the door, protecting the back of your head with his hand.
“yeah? did you tell him you’re gonna fuck your ex?”
“n-no.”
“you should have. because he’ll take one look at you tomorrow and he’s going to know.” his lips were attached on your neck, your jaw, your collarbone. god, you missed his touch. you missed needing him.
“levi,”
“what?” his voice didn’t show, but he was worried. scared you’ll regret this and leave, run off to erwin and tell him everything.
“kiss me, please.” you didn’t have to ask a second time, because his lips were slamming against yours, and he was so, so hungry. he lowered his body and his hands were around your thighs. you let him lift you up, wrapping your legs around his torso, letting you take him into the bedroom. two candles lit the room up, and you were hit with memories as soon as he dropped you on the mattress.
“take that off.” he instructed and you began unzipping your dress, but he stopped you. “i meant that.” he pointed at your finger. you didn’t give it a second thought, placing the ring in your purse and throwing it on the floor. “now that.” he pointed at your dress as he undressed himself too. you were too focused on the tricks the flame played on his chiselled abs, his strong veiny arms and muscular thighs.
god, he looked like a greek statue.
“can’t even do that yourself?” he took matters into his own hands, slowly taking your dress off before pushing you down again. he fell on top of you, his knees on either side of your hips and leaned down to kiss you. your lips were locked in place perfectly, like the last two pieces of a puzzle you couldn’t finish.
you took your bra off and let it fall on the floor with the rest of your clothes. levi’s lips latched onto your nipple, his fingers rolling the other one. you arched your back off the bed, moaning softly in his ear. his erection hit against your panties and suddenly you were going crazy.
you needed him. now, and forever. you rolled your hips against him as he kissed your body hungrily, watched him as he slid down until his teeth caught the bow on your underwear. he took them off as quick as he could.
“tell me, does he do this?” he asked, leaving a kiss on your clit. god, you were embarrassingly wet.
“he does…” you looked away, but levi reached your jaw with his hand and made you stare at him.
“but?”
“he doesn’t know where to touch me.” you mumbled.
“does he touch you here?” you felt the pads of his fingers come in contact with the top of your clit. you nodded no. “here?” he asked, slowly pulling his fingers down, to that spot that made your stomach tighten.
“no.”
“that idiot doesn’t know what he’s missing then.” was the last thing levi said before his tongue slipped into your folds. your hand fell on his head, as if out of instinct, and you pulled on his perfectly styled hair, guiding him right where you wanted him. a row of fuck, shit, oh god came out of your mouth. how long has it been since you felt this way? your fingers didn’t do even half of what levi was doing to you right now.
“levi, i’m coming.” you warned and he looked up at you as he added two fingers to the mixture, entering your slick cunt. you couldn’t look away from those mesmerising gray eyes as you moaned in pleasure and that knot in your stomach came undone. levi slowed down until he was off your pussy completely, now coming up to you again.
“has he ever made you this wet?” he kissed you, making you taste your juices mixed with his saliva.
“never.” you were telling the truth. levi was the only man who could ever do this to you. he was like magic.
“can i fuck you?”
“yes, please.” you whined when levi slapped his cock against your clit and you looked up at him through eyelashes painted black, silently begging for him to fuck you. he didn’t wait any longer to enter your cunt, his eyes rolling to the back of his head. he adjusted your legs around his ass and leaned down, chests touching, to kiss you.
“you can’t even kiss me?” he teased. how could you? you were a moaning mess, getting louder with every harsh, slow thrust. even though erwin was much bigger than him, levi filled you up perfectly in every way.
he was made for you.
you wrapped your arms around his shoulders, sucking on his neck and those pretty collarbones to muffle your moan. leaning back, you admired the purple and red marks before smiling at him. levi could melt right then and there.
he picked up the pace, fucking you fast into the mattress.
“please, please, please!”
“what, coming again?” he chuckled, brushing a stray strand of hair from your eye. “how long has it been, y/n? since someone made you come?”
“too-too long.” you breathed out.
“two years? two and a half?” you knew what he was doing. trying to make you admit he was the last man to make you orgasm.
“oh god, i’m coming!” your walls clenched around his dick, making him moan in pleasure. “levi, levi hold me.”
“i’m holding you.”
“more.” you needed his arms around you. you needed to become one again.
levi pulled you up and into his lap and you wrapped your legs around his torso, arms roaming his back, scratching it. he held you tight, slamming you up and down his cock until you were coming again, and again…
“missed this pussy,” he whined when he felt you clenching again, “missed your claws on my back.”
“give me all of it, levi.” you whispered in his ear and he lifted you up, hips bucking into the back of your thighs as he reached that spot he knew drove you mad. he was close, you could tell. oh god, you didn’t want this to end.
“fuck, i’m gonna-”
“inside me.” you didn’t let him finish. you wanted to feel all of him so bad.
“does erwin cum inside?”
“he doesn’t. he thinks it’s filthy.”
“good. this pussy’s…” his sentence was cut short with a groan and you felt a new, familiar warmth inside you, as he brought you down to fit all of his length, “all mine.” he whispered.
out of breath, you stared at each other. you didn’t want him to pull out. it would all become too real. but your juices combined were making a mess on his lap, so you slowly got up, heading for the bathroom. levi was hot on your heels, accepting the towel you took out for him. you looked at him through the mirror with a sad smile and he returned a serious gaze.
“don’t say this was a mistake.” he blurted out when you opened your mouth to speak. “don’t say anything.” he spun you around and hugged you tight. you could feel his warm breath on your neck, his fingers leaving white marks where he held you, his toes touching yours.
“i have to go.” your voice was shaky. tears fell down your cheeks and dropped on levi’s back, startling him. he pushed you softly and wiped your tears with his thumbs.
“stay.”
“i can’t. i’m sorry.” you kissed his cheek and left. levi didn’t come into the bedroom. he waited for you to get dressed, and only when he heard the front door did he go into the room.
he spotted your bag, forgotten on the floor. with a sigh he took it, sat on the bed and opened it. lipstick, his lighter, cigarettes. your engagement ring. he took it in his hand, inspecting it against the light. he leaned to open the top nightstand drawer, a red slick wooden box the only thing inside it. he opened it, comparing the two rings.
“mine’s better. cheap piece of shit.”

Barca femení x reader request
-> Ingrid's little sister spends the Summer holidays with her and gets into trouble, leaving the whole team worried
-> Warning: talk of rape, drugs, and stalking - do not take this lightly
-> For this request, I hope you like it!
➳ Masterlist
•─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────•
Eight weeks of pure free time, a blessing – especially when your sister lives in Spain and you can stay there for free. Ingrid lives in a nice apartment in the middle of Barcelona, together with her girlfriend Maria and two cats. It was a nice surprise when she asked you if you would like to spend the summer with them – of course, you said yes. Who wouldn’t?
Mapi was nice, very nice and while there was a language barrier and situations were hard sometimes, everyone did their best to get around it. You learned Spanish in school, but it was very different from actual Spanish, especially in Barcelona where many people speak Català.
The two footballers had early training sessions but usually, you all had breakfast together, or at least for the last ten days that you had been there. Today, however, you were nowhere to be found, and Ingrid was panicking.
You had gone out last night, which she knew, but you had not returned and now it was eight in the morning. She called and called you, made Maria call you, and even tracked your location, which was still at the club.
No ten minutes later she was pulling you out of the dark environment by your hair. It’s not like she didn’t try pulling you by your arms but your body was much too sweaty and she kept slipping.
The brunette didn’t even talk to you on the way home, just depositing you in the backseat. It was Maria who took care of you at home, guiding you to the shower and pulling out an outfit for you, thankfully with sunglasses.
Half an hour later Mapi pulled into the training grounds, helping you out of the car while Ingrid stormed ahead. As thankful that she was, that you were okay, she was pissed. You had promised her that you would be back at least by three in the morning, you had promised her that you would take care of yourself and be watchful – which you obviously had not been.
At some point during the night, you noticed that everything was a little hazier, and disoriented and you completely forgot where you were.
Your drink had been spiked.
Terrified of seeing Ingrid like this – or rather her seeing you like this, you had decided to stay there, in the hope that she would be gone once you headed home. But when your sister had seen your dilated pupils and wonky behavior, she knew that you were not ‘just’ drunk. She was so pissed that you took drugs, putting that toxic stuff into your body, that she did not even question if you wanted it.
Her angry stomping was interrupted once she ran into Keira, Lucy, and Ona who stood in the hallway chatting. “Jeez, what happened to you?” The heavy Spanish accent teased the Norwegian just enough to give an answer. “My sister happened to me.” Just at that moment, Mapi dragged you around the corner – a cap pulled deep into your face, together with sunglasses effectively hiding it.
The three footballers quickly understood the situation, huge grins on their faces, thinking you were drunk of your ass.
In the changing room, Maria dropped you in your sister’s cubby, who immediately sat down next to the blonde in hers. Upon seeing the taller woman’s facial impression most people just ignored your presence, going about their day as usual but it was Frido who approached you first. “Lille Ingrid!“
You were pulled into a tight hug, the blonde footballer having missed you – effectively ignoring the pained expression on your face. “Hi, Frido.” Kisses were pressed on your cheeks as she pulled off the sunglasses.
Both of you winced. You because of the bright light, Frido because of your wide eyes. “Hva har du gjort? Ingrid is pretty mad.“ You pushed her hands away, pulling the glasses back on, trying to hide once you saw Pina and Patri curiously looking at you. “I didn’t do anything Frido, I promise. But Inni is mad at me.” Your voice was low, just above a whisper that the Swede could understand you. With soft coos and head pats she went back to her own cubby.
The girls started to walk out the door, ready to hit the pitch. This time it was your sister who pulled you up, pushing an isotonic drink into your hands. Maria had been fine with letting you sleep in the changing room but Ingrid decided to punish you – sitting you down next to the field, in the early heat. It was unbearable to sit there – the sun burning down on you, the shrill sounds of the whistle annoying your forming headache.
It was Lucy who was sent off to take a break because of her knee, and Alexia who still struggled with her ACL, who took a seat on both sides of you.
¡Hola, nena! The captain pressed a series of soft kisses on the top of your head, pulling you into her body. While she was even warmer, she shielded your body from the sun – and she was very comforting to your upset head. “How’s your hangover?” Lucy’s teasing voice was quieter than usual, going easy on you. “Hasn’t even formed yet.” The two older women shared a look over the top of your head, knowing that did not mean anything good.
It was silent for a good couple of minutes, with everyone watching Claudia score a screamer – the two women at your side cheering.
Ana joined you after a bit, sinking in front of you effectively barricading your view of the pitch as she pulled the glasses off again. “Ai! Did you take drugs?” Her voice was shockingly loud, alarming everyone in your vicinity but especially Lucy and Alexia, as their heads snapped to you.
The Spaniard grabbed your face, squishing your cheeks as she observed your eyes – the Brit copying her shortly after. “Do you know how dangerous drugs are? You are ruining your body!” Alexia was rambling in Spanish and Ana just looked disappointed. Her blue eyes were drilling into your soul, there was something wrong and she knew it. She just didn’t know what it was.
The whole situation was uncomfortable – three women who you respected a lot talking about you, talking at you, about how bad what you did was. “I didn’t take them.”
Silence.
It was finally silent, giving your buzzing head a short break.
The other girls were still on the pitch, blissfully unaware, but you could see Ingrid and Mapi eyeing your little circle. “What do you mean you didn’t take them?” Lucy was the first to find her words, but it was Ana’s pleading eyes that made you spit it out. “Someone put something in my drink. I didn’t take anything. I promise.” Alexia’s eyes teared up, hoping that she misunderstood. But upon repeating yourself the blonde understood that she heard you correctly.
You pleaded with them that they would not tell your sister or her girlfriend, and they agreed – under the condition that you would join them at team night that evening – which you agreed to.
The rest of the day was hard. Ingrid ignored you for most of it. While her teammates had begged you to let them tell her, you refused. You didn’t want your sister to worry even more than she already did. Her heavily tattooed girlfriend however made you food, something to drink and brought you to bed – in the hope that you would feel better when you woke up, or at least be sober.
Your head still hurts after waking up, a hangover having taken the place of your previous drunken state. After some food, an Advil, and a nice long shower you felt much better – dressed to impress and ready to go.
The team bonding for the night was cooking together at Alexia’s place, seeing as her kitchen was the biggest. Upon arriving Ingrid sat you down on the couch where you were quickly joined by Claudia, Patri, Jana, and Bruna, the younger ones on the team. They didn’t even question why you were at their training in the morning, just happy that you were with them again as they had last seen you for a spring vacation in Greece. It didn’t take long until you were filled in on all the newest gossip;
Jana’s girlfriend Jill is a very good partner
The girl Patri got with a couple of weeks ago became clingy, she panicked and told her she was married, which she wasn’t and a quick Google search proved that
Bruna’s brother had gotten a girl pregnant, so now they were getting married with the young brunette as a bridesmaid
Alexia and her girlfriend had broken up and it was messy
And apparently, not even Lucy, Keira, and Ona knew what was happening with them.
It was Sandra who called them over to help prepare the food but you and Claudia were sent away again, not trusted with the sharp knives, so you took your previous places on the couch. “How long are you staying with Ingrid?” The two of you fell into a comfortable chatter, the short brunette taking up her favorite place with her head in your lap as you braided her hair.
The kitchen was noisy as they made food, just a few people were scattered throughout the room. A phone started ringing - yours. The number in the display was unknown to you, so you pressed the red button.
Just a few seconds later it started to ring again – declined again.
After that Pina and you talked for a bit, your eyes falling to the phone from time to time until it rang again. Annoyed you answered with a pissed “Hello?” The silence on the other line was disturbing until you heard a creepy chuckle. “Hello?” Claudia watched the interaction as your brows furrowed, and so did the brunettes. “Don’t you remember me?”
Your heart started to beat incredibly fast and loud. Sure, you hadn’t actually fallen asleep from the drug that spiked your drink but there was still severe memory loss from the night. “I thought you liked my drink. I made it just for you.” His voice was just a whisper that reached your brain in a very uncomfortable place. “Who is this?” The chuckle was back and instead of an answer, your phone dinged – a message from the same unknown number that was talking to you.
The Spaniard on your lap watched as you took the phone away from your ear, opening the message. It was a picture of you. And it was taken at the bar from last night.
In it, you were sitting on a guy's lap but your pupils were blown large, a stare that didn’t reach anybody facing the camera, as his ankles crossed yours keeping you in place, as did the hands whose knuckles turned white as they were holding onto your wrists. “Don’t you like this picture? You were so happy when we took it.”
By now the other youngsters were back, leaning over the couch, watching you. Once Bruna understood what was happening, she ran off, just to return with the rest of the team – forget cooking.
Ingrid practically sprinted at you as she took the phone, throwing it to her girlfriend who took a screenshot of the number and yelled down the line. Your sister took your shaking form in her arms as Alexia went to help Mapi with whatever she was doing.
Once you had calmed down a silence filled the room, a silence that was waiting for you to explain. “I didn’t take any drugs last night, my drink was spiked. And apparently, some things happened that I don’t remember. I- I don’t know how he got my number, and I don’t remember doing anything with him. And, and-“
You were crying, burying your face in Ingrid's thick hair, trying to hide from the world. Frido and Caro tried to calm down your sister who was also crying while Lucy pulled you into her own arms.
The whole team was there for you – and now they knew that you hadn’t voluntarily taken drugs. They also knew what a blackout could mean, especially when the guy had your number and pictures like that.
It was Ale, the trusted captain who voiced the next step. “Let’s get you to a hospital, Nena. Get a rape kit done.” Tears were streaming down your face as Claudia and Patri tried to hand you tissue after tissue. “I’m scared.” Ingrid, who felt so incredibly guilty for treating you the way that she did, not even questioning you if you really had taken drugs, took you in her arms. “I know, baby – but you have us, you’ll never be alone again.”
And she was right, you were not alone.
Ingrid, Fridolina, and Ana accompanied you to the hospital, where you got tested. It was positive, but you were not pregnant or had syphilis but you had definitely been taken advantage of. The good news? There was a DNA sample that you could take to the police, along with the picture of you and the guy, the number you were called from, and a drug test positive for Rohypnol.
Maria, Lucy, and Alexia went into the station with you and held you as you cried when retelling what happened, but the rest of the team was waiting outside – hoping that they could find the guy who did this.
Turns out that they could.
Two weeks later you had gotten the notification that they had caught him with Rohypnol on his body and pictures of you on his phone – it was over.
The whole team of Barcelona Femení took you under their wings you spent training with them, went out on team nights with them, and went on little hangouts with some of them.
You had found a second family – away from home.

What if I told you I’m back?
This was a request but tumblr ate, you’ll all just have to believe me. Someone asked for a Max POV during the best friend era. So, I decided to go with this one ✨set 16th April 2018✨ the day after the Chinese GP, because I feel like we don’t talk enough about the early friendship.
I hope this finds its way to whoever sent in the ask and that you enjoy it 🫶
Tumblr media
Max almost turns around three times on the way to your building.
The first time, it’s when he realises it’s late, gone ten p.m. on a Monday, you might be asleep. He should go home and come by tomorrow. But you’re a night owl, you won’t be asleep.
The second time, he thinks you won’t be asleep, but you won’t be expecting company. He hasn’t even texted, and he should have, but he left his phone in his jacket which he gave to his concierge to send upstairs with his bags. He should intrude. But he’s not exactly company, he’s seen you in your pyjamas, it’s not like he’s suggesting you go out.
The third time, it’s the absurdity of the situation that gives him pause. He hadn’t even set foot in his building before setting off to yours. After three and a half weeks away one more night shouldn’t be a big deal. Maybe you’ll think he’s a bit strange. But equally, it shouldn’t be a big deal to just see you for a minute, right? If only just to give you your present.
He’s surprised by much he found himself missing you. It’s not like he hasn’t been sued to being away from his friends and family his whole life, it’s not even like you didn’t talk while he was away. You talked a lot. But, he rationalises, he’d got used to having you around during winter break, you’d hardly been apart. You’d even come home to his mum’s with him just before Christmas. Your presence, your perfume, your way never letting him finish a sentence, it was all normal to him now. It wasn’t that he needed it, just that he had had to learn how to be without it, and that had been harder than anticipated. The last time he’d done that he was eight.
It only occurs to him now, as your building comes into view, that you might not feel the same way. You’d said you’d missed him countless times in the last three and a half weeks, but that didn’t signify. After all, he’d said it maybe twice and he here he was, asleep on his feet but at your door because he didn’t want to go home without seeing you.
He should just go home.
“Max?” No turning back now. He turns around to see you, dressed in a pretty blouse and a short skirt, teetering towards him on stiletto heels. “Maxy, Maxy, Maxy,”
You collide with him before he has a chance to laugh at the way you were squealing like a child. He hugs you back, holding you up when you lift your feet off the floor for a second. He’s half expecting you to smell like a distillery, unable and unwilling to comprehend that your reaction is all your own. But all he smells is your perfume, and it feels like Christmas all over again.
“Hey,” he says, lowering you to the ground and finally getting a good look at you. Your hair’s a little shorter, your face is- no, you couldn’t have gotten prettier. You’re a bit more tanned.
“I thought you were still in China,” you say, squeezing his shoulders. “You look so hungry, have you lost weight?”
“I just got back,” he says with a shrug. You’re almost his height in your heels, he notices for no discernible reason.
You take in his no doubt plane-rumpled appearance. “Did you come straight here?”
“Uh,” he clears his throat. He’s not going to admit that when you’re giving him a warranted look of confusion, but he doesn’t want to lie either. “I brought you a present.” He holds up the package, wrapped poorly on the flight home. Even the flight attendant had given him a sympathetic look as she watched him struggle.
“Aw, thanks,” you say, pressing your key fob against the censor and pulling open the door before Max can get to it. “Come up,”
“Are you sure?”
You give him an incredulous look, lit up by the golden glow of your lobby lights. “Of course,”
You tell him about the dinner you were just getting back from when he arrived, all the way up to your flat. Some people would find it odd or even rude that Max has been a continent away, racing the fastest cars on the planet in front of millions of people, and yet you’re perfectly at ease taking time to talk about your overly creamy pasta. Max likes it, relishes it, even. You’ve never seen him or his job as anything special. He went to work, you went to dinner. It’s normal. Just friends catching up.
You let him into your flat, heading straight for the kitchen, and Max takes the same seat at the breakfast island that he always does. He idly wonders if anyone else has sat in it since he’s been away.
“But then it’s not exactly Naples, you what can you expect. Sometimes I think the French sabotage Italian food on purpose,” you say, filling a wine glass with water from your fridge dispenser. “Great race, by the way. Glad my voodoo worked,”
Max scoffs. “So, you didn’t watch it,” he shakes his head as if that will help the memories fade quicker.
“I did. Got up at the crack of dawn and everything. And I cursed your car not to win,“ you say with a mischievous grin, pulling out a can of red bull from the fridge.
Max frowns. “What the fuck?”
“You can’t win when I’m not there to see it,” you declare, handing him the Red Bull. He reaches to take it, but you don’t let go until he looks at you. “I’d have been devastated,”
For the first time in his life, Max is actually half glad he didn’t win a race.
He chuckles, opening the can with one hand while sliding the gift along the counter towards you with the other.
“Well, I want to win,” he says, as you start picking at the copious amount of sellotape. “So you’ll just have to come to all the races,”
He’s surprised how much he means that.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, Maxy. Oh my God, you can’t wrap for shit,” you say, finally managing to pull apart first Max’s wrapping, and then the box containing the, “Chopsticks?”
“Very fancy chopsticks,” Max explains. He points to the set of dark wood chopsticks you’re holding, gesturing to the intricate gold figures entwined on the top. “See, one set has dragons and one set has a phoenix? They’re famous in Chinese mythology. The guy said to give It to someone you like, they’re supposed to bring luck. Or something. I didn’t really understand his English,”
You stare at them for a while, a sort of bewildered smile on your face, and Max almost slaps himself. He should have just bought you a handbag. They had a Chanel in China. Why didn’t he just listen to his dad? This sentimental shit is weird and embarrassing and he should have just gone home.
“So,” you say, using the chopsticks to point at Max accusingly as you smirk at him. “You like me now? Who would have thought? After all those years of telling everyone how annoying I was, you like enough to want me to have good luck,”
“You-“ Max fights the urge to argue.
That smug look on your face still triggers him something awful. But behind it is someone who has become important to him. It’s not just that you know things about him that even he’s forgotten, it’s that he doesn’t want there ever be anything you don’t know about him. You him laugh, and he never wants to see you cry, and he’s used to being reviled and admired, and even liked, but you’re the only person who’s ever made him feel this understood.
“You’re my best friend,”
Once, he might have been embarrassed that you don’t say it back, but just like you know him, he knows you now, too. You grin at him, sipping your water as you look at him over the rim of your glass.
“Well, despite the fact that this whole chopstick story sounds like the beginning of an Indiana Jones movie, they’re beautiful, and I love them, and I promise I will only ever use them to eat Chinese food with you,” you say, putting the chopsticks back in their box. “And I’m glad you’re home.”
Max doesn’t say anything, fiddling with the can again, and you sigh.
“When are you leaving again?”
“Um,” he hesitates, like if he doesn’t say it then it won’t happen. He gives up and gives you an apologetic smile. “Thursday. Going to the UK for some work and then straight to Baku,”
“Oh,” your face, falls, and you toy with the stem of your glass, only for a few seconds, before you shrug. “Well, we should have dinner before you go, and then-“
“Do you-“ He cuts himself off, because he knows he should think about this more, but then you’re looking at him and he’s done thinking. “Do you want to come?”
“To the UK?”
“Yeah,” Max mumbles, looking down at his Red Bull as his fingers fiddle with the tab. “And to Baku,” he glances up to see your reaction, “and, I mean, anywhere,” he adds a shrug, because, obviously, the invitation is totally casual.
You shrug back. “Okay,”
He can hear his dad already, complaining about how you’re a distraction, you bring cameras and drama, how Max gives you too much of his attention on race weekends. But there’s worse things than Jos’s moaning, like not seeing you for another two weeks.
He barely has time to think about that before a Chinese takeout menu slides into his vision. He looks up at you, confused. “Didn’t you eat?”
“Yeah, but it doesn’t look like you have in about a week. You are starting to get Cillian Murphy cheekbones,” you grimace. Max has no idea who that is but based on your face he doesn’t want to look like him. “And besides, I want to test out these magic chopsticks,”

Tumblr media
You felt like an idiot as you sat on the side of the road.
The bar had music that faintly calmed your nerves as you scrolled through your phone desperate to find a contact that you could call.
Your friends simply weren’t an option as they told you that you were an idiot going to see your ex. He had asked you to meet him at a bar to talk and like an idiot you went to see that he wasn’t there.
A gasp left your lips as your eyes landed on Jack’s contact “perfect.” The relationship you built with Jack this year was weird, beforehand he was only ever Trevor’s best friend but recently you found yourself leaning on the boy more as you were a mere fifteen minutes away from him.
What you didn’t know was that Jack was hosting poker night with some of his teammates “you gonna get that?” John furrowed his eyebrows as his attention was pulled to the sound of Jack’s phone ringing.
The Hughes boy flipped his phone over before he quickly answered it “hey y/n?” His voice was alarmed as he heard your tears “yeah I’ll be there in ten minutes just send me your location.” The hockey players that sat around the table all grew confused.
Before anyone could ask Jack realised the biggest problem “my car is in the shop!” He groaned quickly trying to call you back “I can drive you?” Nico offered still not knowing exactly where he was going.
And that was how the black Land Rover landed up in front of you as you sat on the sidewalk “Jackie?” Your voice was soft as the boy pulled his hoodie from his arms to give to you “c’mon.” Jack sighed helping you up as he ushered you to the car.
Nico smiled seeing you in the rear view as the car door opened “Neeks!” You gasped sending the boy a toothy grin.
It was safe to say that Jack was taken aback by your positive attitude towards his captain “I don’t remember you two being this friendly the last time I saw you.” Jack blurted out buckling up his seatbelt as you did the same.
You ran your tongue over your teeth “cappy over here has hinge.” You smirked as you had matched with him on the app a little over two weeks ago.
The two of you were doing well so far but tonight you two were meant to go out before the boy canceled last minute “see you found something else to do.” Nico’s voice was delicate but you didn’t miss how his hands squeezed the wheel.
Jack sat in his seat feeling like he was intruding as he stared at the road ahead “you coming back to mine princess?” The Hughes boy watched as your eyes never left his teammates “Nico coming with?” The look in your eyes was dangerous.
But like a moth to a flame Nico couldn’t help to soak in everything you said like it was nothing “go wherever you want me to.” The captain tapped his fingers on the dash as he was evidently calmer than before.
The remainder of the drive was quiet as Jack swore he was going to throw up watching you and Nico send each other those lingering glances.
And he thought would have gotten better as you two got upstairs but as you swirled your glass of whiskey Nico smiled as he listened to whatever Jack rambled on about an upcoming game.
His phone cut him off as it began to ring “I’ll be a sec.” Jack mumbled watching as you two nodded letting him leave into another room.
Nico didn’t take long to turn to you “you had a good time tonight?” It was clear that his jealousy was now raging again as he stared at your pretty little outfit.
You smirked “would have preferred being with you.” Your confession was clear as you used your hand to rub up his leg.
The gesture was soft but he knew all about your true intentions “at least you would have shown.” You smirked as his hand tensed around your wrist.
He sucked at his teeth “baby you gotta stop.” Nico warned “I don’t think I can behave in the way Jack is going to want me to.” His voice shook as his patience began to waver.
When you shut the gap between you both his breathing grew heavy “what are you gonna do when I tell you I don’t want you to behave.” Maybe it was the way he looked at you but as you pressed a kiss against the shell of his ear you felt like the most confident woman around “god you’re going to be the death of me.” Nico confessed turning his head to face yours “fuck you’re gorgeous.” He blurted out letting his lips go over yours as he kissed you.
It was hungry as the hockey player pulled you onto his lap “pretty little girl.” He blurted out taking the moment to breathe before his lips were back fighting with yours “didn’t think I was going to talk in on something.” Jack leaned against the frame of the door as he watched you pull your swollen lips away from his teammate.
The devilish grin was back on your face “if princess is okay with sharing.” Nico didn’t need to wait for your response as your eyes sparkled at the thought “you want the bedroom or would you rather have me fuck you on the couch?” His words sent shivers down your spine as his lips nipped at your neck.
Your brain melted as both options caused images to flash through your mind “bed, bed.” You blurted out nodding as Nico helped you off of his lap “let’s not keep you waiting then.” Jack smiled as you walked over to him.
The events that occurred between when you guys were in the living room and the time you landed up in his bedroom were ones that were a blur with your only memory being that it was causing your wetness to pool in your panties as both boys pressed this lips against you.
Now Jack always knew that you were hot, he had seen you in your bikini on more than one occasion and had even walked in on you showering once. Of course neither one of you spoke about it but you didn’t forget how his cock grew hard at the sight of you “how do you want us baby?” Nico asked as he helped pull your dress over your head leaving you in your blue matching underwear set.
You went to cover yourself when the captain stopped you “answer me.” He mumbled pressing a kiss against your lips.
The thought of how you wanted this to go made your brain melt “want you in my mouth first.” You blurted out making the Swiss man smirk.
He sent Jack a look that made him nod as both sets of boys shed their clothing making sure to only take yours off in a painfully slow pace “patience princess.” Jack cooed as you stood out of your panties “want to take our time with you.” He murmured making your body shiver.
Nico took the moment as Jack began thrusting his hand up his cock making sure that it was hard before he went to fuck you “such a pretty little baby.” Nico mumbled swiping his tongue over your lip as his hands when to the back of your bra.
You almost forgot that Jack was even there until the boy ran the tip of his cock over your clit letting it slide down your slit before his dick slid into your core “god!” You groaned grabbing at the older boys hands.
The Swiss man smiled as your face scrunched up “you enjoying that baby?” He asked watching you nod as he slowly lowered your face down to his own cock.
It made your mouth water seeing the swollen pink tip “be a good girl for me,” Nico’s words made you clench around Jack “fuck you like being called that?” Jack asked teaching down to grab your hips letting his hips steadily meet yours.
Your tongue swirled around Nico’s cock making the boy grunt “holy shit!” Nico let out a grunt when you looked up through your eyelashes as you took as much of his cock as you could making your eyes water.
Both boys shared a moment where they smirked as the sound of your cunt squelching erupted off of the walls of the room “think she knew what she was doing when she called you tonight?” Nico asked as he began to increase the pace of his thrusts when you gagged around his cock “of course.” Jack nodded bringing his hand down to your clit “such a little slut for us tonight.” He added letting his fingers apply harsh amounts of pressure to your sensitive nub.
The whine that fell from your lips was quickly swallowed by Nico’s cock as the sensations made him shiver “fuck her harder.” Nico ordered making your legs begin to shake “I’m not gonna last bro.” Jack warned as your pussy wrapped around his bare cock like you were made for him “this pussy is dangerous.” His head fell back as he warned the older boy.
Both boys could bare focus as the pleasure you made them feel had their brains melting. That was only fair given how they made you feel as Nico left your mouth full and Jack left your cunt warm “fuck.” Your words fell from your lips as Nico’s cock gave them a moment to come out.
Jack’s finger dug into your sides as he hoped that your orgasm would come first “you gonna be a good girl and take it all in your mouth?” Nico asked as he could barely keep his thrusts going.
All you could do was nod as his eyes screwed shut letting his load shoot into your mouth coating your tongue with his come “let me see that baby.” The hockey player held your head by your hair as he slid his cock out of your mouth.
You stuck your tongue out letting him see the white substance that sat there “such a good little girl.” Nico cooed pressing his lips together and before you can process what he is doing a string of saliva fall from his lips dropping until it lands on your tongue “swallow all that baby.” The hockey player ordered wrapping his hand around your throat as he felt his come and spit slide down your throat.
Jack couldn’t help but grow jealous at the intimate interaction that you had with his teammate causing him to raise his hand against your ass “Jack!” You moaned eyes screwed shut as Nico kissed your lips.
The younger boy began to see a white hue cast over his eyes as your cunt suffocated his cock “want to see how these pretty things taste.” The Swiss man smiled as he leaned out taking your nipple in his mouth as his fingers grazed over the other sensitive peak.
Jack’s hands held your waist up as you moaned letting your head fall back “fuck Neeks.” You cried as his free hand went back to teasing your clit “you close baby?” Jack asked forcing his cock deeper into your pussy.
You nodded as you turned your head to look at him “gonna come-” your announcement was cut off as his hand locked onto your jaw bringing your lips against his as he kissed you.
Both boys swore that it was the hottest sight as your body shook with whines trapped between your lips.
Jack couldn’t take it anymore as his chest went flush against your back with his movements of his cock beginning to sputter until he came “such a pretty girl.” He cooed watching in awe as his cock slid out of your cunt letting his come mix with yours as it oozed out.
Nico didn’t take long to send you a serious look “think you can handle one more?” His voice was delicate as his hand brushed through your slightly knotted hair “Neeks.” You nodded sending him a smile through heavy eyelids.
The boy was quick to bring you onto the bed with him “don’t think she’s gonna take it standing.” Nico pointed out as you straddled his hips “she’s gonna ride me like the pretty whore that she is.” He explained bringing his cock up to tease your clit before you let your hips drop against his.
Jack felt a sense of deja vu as he watched your face contort to the pleasure that his captain made you feel “open up baby.” Karl ordered tapping his already hard cock against your lip, you were planning on listening to him truly you were. But Jack seemed to believe that you hadn’t moved quick enough, so as your mouth formed an o as a rough moan left your lips the hockey player took that as the chance to force his dick into your mouth.
The sight was dirty, both boys seemed to have a common objective as they had a silent competition, who could make you come faster? Who could make you cry harder as their cock hit the back of your throat? Who was going to make you feel like you couldn’t walk tomorrow? All of those were questions that they wanted to know and by the end of the night they were going to have to have all three answers.
Sounds of Nico’s coarse grunts as his eyes didn’t leave your ass watching how your cunt swallowed his cock repeatedly driving your hips up and down as your hands grabbed at his legs “such a pretty girl” he cooed smirking at Jack who gripped at your hair forcing his cock further down your throat.
Jack didn’t mean to be jealous but you were meant to be his first not Nico’s. Yet as you looked up at Jack letting your eyes lock onto his through your eyelashes it seemed to wash away his worries “what would Z say if he saw you now?” The Hughes boy groaned as he felt your throat constrict around his cock.
Your cunt clenched around Nico “maybe she likes thinking about him seeing her as a dirty little slut?” Nico grunted squeezing your ass.
You couldn’t focus on your brother as the captain brought his other hand to your clit “you getting close princess?” Jack smirked seeing your legs begin to shake as Nico had to take control of the thrusts.
Your head bobbed as you nodded “fuck you’re such a perfect little girl.” The Swiss man cooed as his cock began to throb.
The boys noticed how your state turned fucked out as your brain turned cloudy “don’t stop,” Jack forced your throat to take all of him as he finally came.
He almost hunched over as your tongue swirled around his cock sucking him dry “fucking hell baby.” Jack whined letting your hair out of his hands as the sweaty hair stuck to the back of your neck.
His cock pulled out of your mouth letting you swallow his load “now be a good girl for Nico.” He ordered bringing his lips down to yours so that he could kiss you.
As Jack’s tongue slid over your lip Nico had to remain focused on making sure that you came before him “right there Neeks,” you groaned leaning back as your head fell back.
The younger boy took that as the opportunity to bring his lips to your breast “fuck Jack!” You cried as his tongue swirled around your sensitive peak “you like it when we fuck you like that?” Nico asked feeling your cunt squeeze his cock.
It was the way that it hadn’t let up on his dick for the last few minutes that made Nico think that you were close “please let me come.” You begged not fully understanding the thoughts in your brain.
Jack laughed as he looked up at you “gotta try harder than that.” He clicked his tongue locking his hand around your jaw “I’ll be your good girl Neeks.” You offered grinding against the older boy.
The Hughes boy couldn’t even get upset watching your eyes screw shut “let the neighbours hear you.” Jack one ought his lips back to your nipple.
That was what sent you over the edge “shit shit shit!” You cried feeling your body writhe above Nico and against Jack.
The captains orgasm came shortly after yours “there we go baby.” Nico cooed slowly helping your hips move through your high.
You swore you were going to collapse when Jack helped you up placing your body onto the soft sheet “such a pretty little girl.” The Hughes boy rubbed his hand on your leg.
As you lay there Jack watched your come ooze out of your cunt “not so fast princess.” He shook his head using two fingers to force it back into your pussy “fuck Jack!” You groaned as Nico brushed your hair to the side “you okay baby?”
The question lingered on your mind until your phone rang so naturally you leaned over to see who was calling you “you okay baby?” Nico repeated his words as your eyes went wide.
Why the fuck was Trevor calling you?

BLACKMAILED PART 1/3
I watched the latest video you sent me and laughed as I typed out my response.
"Good! That's enough practice! Now altogether! Do a curtsey, showing the bulk of your diaper, say 'Oh, I have to make poopies!', crouch down, and then smile into the camera and say 'Making Poopies make me so horny!' Then you can release your enema. God it? Go!"
A few minutes later I got the perfect video back. I had to hold back a laugh as I watched you humiliate yourself.
I hadn't even meant for it to go this far, but you were so gullible and easy to convince. When I first saw your profile on that kink site, and saw that one of your listed kinks was 'blackmail'...the plan had been growing and taking shape in my mind.
I messaged you and you informed me that you wanted to be blackmailed into doing all kinds of sexy things, whatever I wanted. Luckily for me 'sexy' is a very broad term that can describe many things to lots of people...including diapers.
The first thing I did was ask you your address and the numbers of a few people close to you. After all, is it even a blackmail kink if there's no danger?
After that, the tasks started easily enough. 'go suck your dildo and send me the video.' then it was 'wear a pair of panties'. It was somewhat of a challenge since you were still living at home, but soon I had you jerking off in your 'borrowed' panties, and fucking yourself with increasingly larger dildos.
Then I sent you your first package of diapers. You tried to rebel, you said this was too far...but I just responded with: "lol, stop fussing and go put on your diaper... Unless you want your mom to watch a fun video of you licking your jizz from her panties." You, of course, crumbled like a ball of dry sand.
From there it only got worse and worse for you. DIapers, latex dresses, all kinds of gags and restraints. I could just picture you panicking and rushing to beat your family to snatch away a package and sequester it away in your room before anyone else could notice the many packages you were receiving.
Last week though, I got drunk and decided to message you something I would have never sent sober.
"Blackmailing you under social pressure is getting kind of old. Wouldn't legal pressure be so much more fun? Why don't you go do a crime for me. That way I know you'll always be mine."
"WHAT?! I CAN'T DO THAT!" you responded immediately.
"You have 48 hours to get me ten grand from your work or I'll send all your videos to your parents, your friends, and everyone else you've ever met."
the three dots showed you typing something, but I just turned off my computer and went to bed. To be honest I completely forgot about it. I was so drunk that my memories of the night were pretty hazy. The app we used didn't allow screenshots, and the texts were automatically deleted within an hour, so how was I supposed to remember? The only evidence of any of our interactions was the large folder of videos and pictures you'd sent me.
My memory only came back when you texted me again "I have the money. Management is pissed AF but they have no idea who did it. Please don't make me do that again!"
I immediately remembered everything and why I wanted you to get that money. I was just shocked that you'd actually gotten it!
"That's great baby! Now send me a video admitting to the theft. Tell the camera how you stole it because you were thinking of all the pretty diapers and dildos that much money could buy. Be cute! Girly! Bubbly!"
You left the message on read for a while. I could picture you anxiously pacing your room, freaking out at how far this had all gone.
"You have two minutes for a convincing confession...or your family and friends are going to learn a lot about you very quickly."
The video came soon after. As I'd trained you, you burbled and smiled like a ditzy baby-bimbo, describing the sizes and pretty colors of diapers you could get, and how you could now get all the dildos you could ever want. More crucially, you admitted to the theft, and even showed the money you'd taken.
All of that had led up to now. I smiled as I watched your latest video with the volume muted. your face was childishly wrinkled as you filled your diaper with the massive enema.
I almost didn't send the next message. It was almost too mean, but I couldn't resist. I had to see how far this could go.
"Good girl! Now, dressed just as you are, I want you to walk into whatever room your family is in right now."
"BUT I'VE DONE EVERYTHING YOU ASKED!!" you screamed via text.
"I'm not sending them anything!" I stated.
"WHY! PLEASE! I'LL DO ANYTHING!"
"You sure will! 😂 you're going to walk in there and admit to being a pathetic little baby, and you're going to beg on your hands and knees that they convert your bedroom into a nursery."
"I CAN'T DO THAT!"
"Sure you can. Beg, cry, and scream like a toddler if you have to...I have a feeling you'll be crying anyway, so you might as well use it to get your nursery."
You started to type something multiple times, but there was nothing to say, so I sent another message.
"You're going to show them that money. You're going to tell them you saved up all of it just for this nursery. Show them pictures of other adult baby nurseries. Babble excitedly about cribs, changing tables, high chairs, dresses, dollies, stuffies...THE WORKS! You're to insist on 24/7 diapers and chastity because you just can't resist blowing your little loads into your pampers. Maybe later when you're desperate you can beg your sister-in-law to hook you up with a bull and let a real man fuck you."
"PLEASE NO! PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU!"
"You're going to do it all, or everyone gets everything. In addition to being outed as a Huggies-humping little pervert, you'll be a felon. There's really no choice at all for you, is there?"
"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!"
"I believe everyone should live their honest true lives. You're a pathetic baby-dicked little pervert, and now you get to live like it!"
"I CAN'T!"
"Start a video recording on your phone, then put it in your pocket. Walk into the living room and tell them everything about the life you need. after you send that video tonight, I'll break contact with you for a while.
"You'll be done with me? Really?
"For a bit. Just to give you and your family some time. In a month I'll give you a call. If your phone is disconnected, I'll call your mom and pretend to be an old school friend."
"Why?!"
"To make sure you did your job. If you're not living full-time in a nursery as I've already described, I'll release everything, and you can be a baby in prison instead of a baby with your family."
There was no way out. You knew it. I knew it. There was nothing you could do or say. Even if you only asked for some of the babyish things, I'd eventually be told the truth. Your life was starting over right now, and you had to come to terms with it.
"They'll kick me out of the house! They won't do any of that stuff you want!" You whined.
"You'd be surprised. I bet at least one family member will take great interest in aiding with your transformation."
"My step-sister, maybe, but she hates me! She'll make my life an utter nightmare! Please! What if I do something else even MORE Embarrassing?!?" You begged.
"Good luck. Make sure you ask for hormones too. Time for you to upgrade from those cheap breast forms." I responded curtly, and then turned off my laptop.
I knew what you were doing. You were toddling back and forth in your soiled diaper, cursing me, cursing yourself, wondering how you could have been so stupid, trying to find the nonexistent way out of your literal and figurative mess.
I watched the movie playing on the living room TV and waited.
You walked into the room. Immediately, Mom and my Step-dad looked at you and burst into laughter. I joined them. You didn't notice that my laugh was borne from victory as much as amusement. My mom and your dad both thought this was some prank or joke...some dare that you'd lost. My mom laughed until she was crying while you just stood there, fidgeting and looking at the floor.
You squished forward wincing as the dress squeaked and rustled with your every move.
"Hey step-bro, you've never looked better! It fits you!" I laughed.
You shot me a dirty hate-filled look, then turned to the parents. Your face was bright cherry-red; far redder than I'd ever seen before.
"D-dad....Mom....There's, um, well. Something I need to tell you."
You looked at me with a dagger-laden glance before adding "In private!"

i'll be thinking about 1x04 for the rest of my life probably, but currently i'm thinking about how genius it was that instead of the episode being about convincing rick to fight the CRM, as I originally thought it would be, it ended up being a battle to bring rick himself back to life. it's both rick and michonne fighting to revive a dead man who is doing anything he can to stay dead.
the show had already established that rick metaphorically killed himself and made okafor's mission his own instead of committing suicide and that from the moment she arrived he went into panic mode and was doing everything he could do put himself between her and the many threats aimed at her. like, we knew all of that going in.
and then this episode blows that wide open in the first, what, ten minutes? the CRM thinks they're dead. they can leave. and still, rick clings to okafor's mission. and in the hands of lesser writers, in the hands of any other production team who did not understand these characters as profoundly as danai and andy understand them, that's where it would have ended. rick would have genuinely been fully brainwashed and have been coming from a place of misplaced egotism, and they'd be having a very different fight. it would be rick insisting he had to fight the crm alone and michonne arguing that they can fight them together with nothing deeper than that going on.
but of course that's not it, because that's not rick grimes, and this is danai gurira's pen. he's not brainwashed, he's broken. he's so deeply and profoundly traumatized that clinging to this mission as a way of maintaining his own metaphorical death has become the last and strongest wall of his self-defense mechanism. and he spends the whole episode desperately trying to keep that wall up, and failing.
when he sees michonne's scar, he immediately looks for the PRB. because the physical proof of how much danger she will always be in reminds him of how much he can no longer bear to witness it. when michonne tells him about RJ, he asks her to give him the PRB and when he learns that RJ calls himself Little Brave Man, he doubles down on okafor's plan. because he can never lose another child (the way he lost carl twice) if he never knows or meets him in the first place. when michonne blows up about how scared and guilty she feels about not being with their kids he goes completely cold and blank and tells her to go back home. because if they're all out of sight and together they'll always be alive in his mind. because he's already dead, but they don't have to be. he becomes truly recognizable to michonne, to remain unmoved in the face of her pain like that.
and yet. he lasts about ten seconds before sprinting after when she leaves the room. he fusses over her when she can't stop coughing and refuses to leave her side when she's in danger. several times michonne checks in, to see if her rick is still there ("do you still love me?" "I just needed to hear you say it") and confirms that yes, he is. he's emphatic that he has never stopped loving her and never will, that she never has to thank him ever, for saving her life or for anything else. over and over, his love for her wins out even though he's trying so hard to keep that wall up. to remain dead so she will leave and keep living. he's trying to convince both her and himself that he's already gone, but always breaks at the last minute because the immediacy of seeing her right in front of him is more powerful than his own fear. tries to shut himself down, can't resist her, rinse and repeat.
and god, michonne. i've been yammering about the intensity of rick's love for michonne for weeks now, but michonne has done nothing but prove that she's right there with him, if not more. to reveal that rick is the only person who has ever made her feel safe, only to have him continually reject her and be a stone wall against her anger and pain and fear and confusion was so fucking heartbreaking to watch, and still she spends the whole episode banging and scratching and tearing at that wall around him, begging to understand why he's lying to her, why he's being so antithetical to the man she loves. and once she figures out that there's something else going on, that the rick she loves is undoubtedly still in there, she knows exactly what to do to save him. she forces him to say how much he loves her, how much he can't bear to actually let her leave him, so both of them can hear it and then reminds him of how he loves her. this woman spent a decade alone, afraid, raising their kids and facing horrible trauma herself, almost dies trying to find her husband only to meet a stranger once she does, and still does not give up on him. fucking incredible.
i said in a previous post that the only thing that could keep rick grimes from doing anything to get back to his family is a threat to their lives. and it's still true - his grief and trauma is so profound that even the nebulous threat of losing them is so horrifically terrifying to him that he's refusing to go home to them, keeping himself dead to protect himself from their possible deaths. but ultimately, michonne's love for him is even stronger than that. it took almost a decade for the CRM to break him, and michonne brings him back in a day. because the love they have for each other is more powerful than anything. as she says, it can't be denied.
it's honestly the most romantic hour of television i've ever watched. there's so much more that i can say that i haven't even touched on here, and i'm sure i'll be thinking about it for a very long time.

Baby Spencer x hotch daughter first meeting maybe? I’d kind of like to think that maybe they had met before or liked each other. Like they go to the same coffee shop and meet there and talk. And he is finally worked up to courage to ask her out and just before he’s going to leave to meet her, she walks in and is introduced as hotch’s daughter.
"Rushing off to see your girlfriend?" Morgan asks with a smirk.
Spencer had thought he made a clean getaway when no one was in the bullpen but he made the mistake of putting his mug in the dishwasher instead of just leaving and Morgan snuck up on him.
"She's not my girlfriend." Spencer denies, blushing guiltily. Maybe one day, he thinks every time at the coffee shop.
"Man, we just got home from a week-long case, you haven't slept in 32 hours, but you're still going to get coffee with her." Morgan reminds him, chuckling slightly at how whipped his friend is.
"It's because I always see her on Sundays," Spencer replies shortly. wanting to get out of there.
Morgan pats him on the back. "Have fun then."
Before Spencer can reply, someone he knows walks through the door, someone he's definitely not expecting to see at the BAU. You.
He's surprised you're here, wondering how you found him, what you need.
And even more to his surprise, Morgan greets you with a hug. "Hey, sweetness, how are you?"
Spencer watches in shock as you hug Morgan back, definitely like you're very friendly with him. Does that mean you knew who Spencer was when you met? Is this some kind of sick, elaborate prank?
"Good." You reply, flashing a quick smile at Spencer that Morgan catches onto and frowns at. "Is he here?"
Morgan seems to know who you're talking about. "Yeah."
"I thought I'd come see him since someone missed our coffee shop date." Your bold wink following the statement has Spencer blushing like crazy. Then you're gone, walking away from the boys.
Morgan's eyebrows raise and he turns to look at Spencer. "That's coffee shop girl!?" He explains, even before you're out of earshot.
"Who is she?" Spencer asks back.
"Hotch's daughter, how did you not know that?" Morgan fills Spencer in on information that has him seriously alarmed.
He's been dating Hotch's daughter!? Jack's young enough that he assumed Hotch's other child was less than ten years older and away at boarding school or something, not an adult in DC that he's been unknowingly building a relationship with.
And his crush is far too big to let go of now.
Morgan's laughing next to him. "Oh, that's too good."
"What am I going to do?" Spencer repeats the question running through his head.
"Ask her out," Morgan says with a shrug. "It just means one day, Hotch will be your father-in-law."
That's a terrifying thought to Spencer, not marrying you but having Hotch related to him, even if it is just through marriage.
He stresses about what to do in the corridor rather than going home or sitting in the bullpen where he's within your line of sight. He's not sure whether it's going to be a good thing or not, but only a few minutes later, you come through the glass doors. Thankfully, you're without your father.
"Hey." You say awkwardly, coming to stand in front of him. "I hope you know I was joking with the coffee shop comment."
Spencer nods. "Did you know who I was?" He asks the question that's been burning in his mind. He's not sure which is the worse option.
"No." You assure him. "I didn't even consider it." Neither of you had spoken about your jobs much, and all Spencer had really said is that he travels for work often. "I'm sorry I never told you my last name."
"It's okay," Spencer shakes his head. "It's nice to see you."
You beam back. "It's nice to see you too."
"Do you want to get coffee?" He finally asks, unsure where the confidence came from. It's a big leap of faith, but he's relatively sure Hotch can't fire him over it. "If it's okay for me to ask you out romantically."
It definetly wasn't what you were expecting but you nod eagerly. "I'd love that."

Demi Demon || Alastor x Reader, part 16
Synopsis: soulmate AU where you have the same mark on your body as your soulmate, and if your soulmate dies, you die too. Alastor needs to make sure that his soulmate is safe so he can continue his reign - whatever that takes. Though it looks like we have a couple secrets of our own.
Previous part
Part 16: purgatory
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everything was sore. I had a bandage over my one eye and around my neck. Sitting up took so much effort and strain. I stared up at the ceiling, at the very least taking comfort in the warm, soft sheets. I easily remembered the feeling of sleeping on cold floors or in stuffy attics.
I slept through the day until Husker brought food for me. He helped me sit up so I could eat but that was as much as I could manage. He put pillows behind my head so I was still sitting upright a little. Everything I did was painstakingly slow.
After I had finished, and was left alone to read, Alastor came in. He barely knocked before walking in without my reply. I watched him sit himself in the chair Husker had been in a moment earlier.
"Well, you sure made a name for yourself," his voice was chipper. I said nothing and looked down at my book. I had no interest in reading but it meant I could look at anything other than him. His chipper voice fell. "What were you hoping to accomplish?"
I was silent for a long while. I hoped if I didn't say anything than he would leave. Instead, his eyes were glued on me as he waited for a response.
"To stop the ring fights." My voice cracked.
"You do realize the rings picked up a week after you?" I glanced at him. "Oh sure you saved a lot of them but most ended up back in the rings when the orphanages were too overrun with children."
I closed the book and took a long, deep sigh. It hurt my chest to do even that.
"How do you know this?" I asked.
"I have my ways, as does Husker." Silence hung in the air for a long minute. His eyes narrowed and his voice deepened. "Do you comprehend the situation you put us in?"
"What was your point in coming up here?" I snapped. "If it was to make me apologize then sure, I'm sorry for losing and I'm sorry that everyone knows we're soulmates now. They were going to figure it out eventually."
"Of course they were," he agreed, "but not for at least a hundred years. We'll have to work faster with your magic, now."
"I'm done with your lessons! I never wanted any of this. I never wanted to be your soulmate, never wanted to be trapped in this house, never wanted to discover I was a Demon, and I never wanted to have to learn all this magic. There's too much of it."
"This is all of your own doing, I hope you know." He lifted his foot to rest it on his other knee, cane still sitting in his lap. "Since your training started, you have been adamant about fighting me when it comes to mind magic. It's putting a strain on your mentality.”
"You're not seriously trying to blame me, are you? You torment me every day. You jump at the chance to scare me or hurt me somehow. That's where the strain comes from."
"If you had listened to me and stayed in the house," he continued, seemingly ignoring my last rebuttal, "you wouldn't have gone and made a name for yourself and revealed us as soulmates. Because of this, I'm now obligated to ensure you have the proper defenses for when I'm not present."
"You're not obligated to do anything. They don't know I'm here and I've enough knowledge to defend myself against a Demon."
"Yet you're in this state because you couldn't." He looked me up and down.
"I had twenty Slight mages and ten more Full mages after me. Of course I couldn't defeat them all."
He shrugged and scratched at his microphone. "I managed."
"You're you."
"Regardless," he stood, "everything up to this point has been a direct cause of your own doing. I must make sure you don't die, either from other Demons or from your own mind. Whether either of us like it or not, our fates are tied. As such, I will be doing what I can to ensure we can live for another hundred years. I leave it up to you to decide how you want those hundred years to go."
He faded into the shadows and slithered out of my room.
****
The next day I was able to get up. I moved slowly down the hall and out onto the porch. Husker appeared a moment later, silently joining me in his usual spot. It was a cool spring morning. The trees were only beginning to bud and birds could be seen flying to and from them.
My neck and eye were still covered in bandages. I looked down at my hand and let my fingers grow into black claws. I thought I had liked them but now I wasn't so sure. Had I caused more bad than good? Did I ruin things?
"How did he know?" I broke the silence.
"How did he know what?"
"How did he know I was there?"
"It was actually me. I saw the broadcast on my phone."
"Broadcast?" I didn't turn my head very much for fear of it hurting again.
"Vox was broadcasting your whole fight. It's all over the internet now."
I leaned my head back against the chair and let out a strangled sigh. I had messed up big time. Rather than making a good name for myself and saving so many others like me, I was now known as the one person who could rid the Radio Demon from this world. And that I was weak.
"I know what you were trying to do," Husker said, "I know you had good intentions. But..."
"But I lost. I made a gamble and I lost." Tears started to fall down my cheek.
"Not all hope is gone, though.”
"Yeah? How so?" I said sarcastically.
"You held your own for a long time. I watched the whole broadcast last night. You fought against so many people even when you were injured. Some people might be too scared to go after you."
"Yeah, people. But Demons will. I'm no match for them. I barely survived the first few." Husker fell silent. I wiped my tears and carefully turned to look at him. "I'm sorry."
His ear twitched. "What for?"
"For what I said last time we spoke. I didn't mean...to be mean. I know it's not always your choice with how things go."
"You were angry," he shrugged, "reasonably so. And being with Al isn't exactly black and white."
"Still, I shouldn't have used that against you. I'm sorry."
"Thank you," he nodded his head.
****
Husker stood behind me as I carefully unwrapped the bandage over my eye. I was relieved to discover I could still see with both eyes, but the feeling was short lived. A large burn mark ran from underneath my jaw to halfway up my cheek. The skin was mauled and pulled in different directions, most of it not yet completely healed. It looked anything but pretty.
"Al was only able to do so much that night," Husker explained, "But I'm sure if you ask he can fix it better this time."
"I'm not asking him for help." I left the room and Husker followed. I went into the kitchen for a glass of water as he grabbed a glass of alcohol. Niffty was running about sweeping and dusting.
"I don't think he would mind if you did. I'm sure he'd love to get rid of the mark on his own face."
I looked out the kitchen window at the sea. I didn't deserve to have a healed face after all the trouble I caused. The only thing that convinced me to heal it was when it wouldn't stop itching and I made myself bleed more.
Alastor made his appearance later that afternoon. He and Husker we're talking in the sitting room when I walked in. It sounded like they were talking about people hunting me.
I waited a few paces from Alastor until he turned around. He stopped mid stride, hands clasped behind his back, and cocked his head to the side. I tried to say something but the words slipped from fingertips. I felt really cold and forced my legs not to shake.
"I'm sorry about the...about the burn mark...can you heal it?" I asked through clenched teeth, eyes averted to the couch. I internally grimaced when I heard him chuckle.
I knew he was going to touch me so it shouldn’t have made me flinch when he did. Our eyes met and I saw the same burn on his face. "I suppose I can." He moved his hand from my neck to my jaw, then up and over my cheek.
I clenched my hands into fists and closed my eyes. I could hear little scratching sounds as my skin pulled and fixed itself. I was starting to get light headed from the pain. When he finally stopped I let out a sigh.
"Looks as if that's all I can manage," he said. His face had a small burn mark from his jaw to halfway up his cheek. It wasn't huge but it wasn't unnoticeable. "Healing speeds up the process, not rid you of the injury."
I reached up to run my fingers across the newly healed skin. The texture over the burn mark felt a little different.
"This is probably a good time to tell you that Lucifer has called a meeting for tomorrow evening."
"Who?"
"The King of Hell," Husker answered for him.
"King of...why does he want to see us?"
"Oh don't look so panic, dear," Alastor chuckled, "Lucifer isn't someone to be afraid of."
"But why does it he want to meet with us?"
"He wants to meet with all of Hell's and Earth's Overlords. I have a feeling he wants to move his agenda forward because of your little escapade."
So now I'm causing even more problems. I looked to Husker who could only shrug. "There's...how many Overlords are there?"
"Quite a few."
The follow evening, I couldn't stop pacing in my room. I tried to fix the world and ended up digging myself deeper into the Demon one. Alastor had told me to attend the meeting in my Demon form, even going as far as to leave an outfit for me to wear. The thought of picking a different outfit crossed my mind but I was far too nervous about meeting who-knows-how-many Overlords and the King of Hell.
The outfit was simple but dark. The black skirt was loose and reached my shins. It was paired with a bright red short sleeve. Well, it was a long-sleeve but they were rolled up around my elbows. I dressed in the outfit in my Human form to avoid the hassle of my horns and claws. When I shifted into a Demon the clothes fit perfectly. My body grew a bit when I was in this form, yet somehow my wings and tail could appear without tearing any of the clothing.
"Stupid magic," I mumbled to myself as I moved my hair around the horns. I went into the bathroom to fix it but froze when I saw my reflection. I looked like a true Demon in the dark clothes and my claws, horns, tail, and teeth showing. I dared to open my wings and felt dread creep into my chest at the sight. I was a being from Hell.
I heard Alastor's shadow crawling through the walls. I quickly fixed my short hair and turned right as he manifested. His eyes looked me up and down and it took everything in me not to get sick. He wore his usual outfit, dark pants and red suite, but it didn't occur to me until then that the outfit he chose for me had been to ensure we would match.
"You look like a proper Demon," he said.
"Is that a compliment?" I asked, walking out of the bathroom.
"You will be silent the whole time unless spoken to," he walked out of the room, ignoring my words once again. I followed him through the house and to the cliffside. "Each Overlord will have their second hand stand behind them and since I'm taking you instead of Husker, I'm sure you won't disappoint me." We stood on the scorched symbol and put an arm around my waist. I crossed my arms and grabbed onto his to keep me steady. My nerves had silenced all my usual remarks.
The ground gave way as we teleported into Hell and right to the King of Hell's front door. The first word that came to mind was palace. I barely had time to really look at it before Alastor lead me through the massive front doors. The foyer was crowded with Demons who all turned their heads when we entered, though never stopping their conversation. I immediately started counting and came to at least eighteen of them.
I felt all kinds of presences around me but none of them touched my shields. They were just there. I could see various bright colors both from their clothes and their magic aura. The rush of different smells was overwhelming and I had to block them out. Everything in me was on edge. Especially since they were all still looking at me. Silence had not yet fallen but at this point I might have preferred that.
"Keep everything still," Alastor said in my ear. I kept my wings tucked tightly and forced my tail to still behind me. I hadn't realized I had been whipping it around. I watched him and put my claws behind my back like he always did. I could do this.
Doors to the side opened, finally drawing everyone's attention away from me. They started to file into the room still in deep conversation. The room was massive and empty save for a long table in the center. There was a balcony on the second floor that wrapped around the entire permitter of the room. Some Demons sat at the table while others stood at a pillar behind them.
"Hey dearie." Rosie put a hand on my shoulder. "You'll be okay."
Alastor left me at one of the pillars and sat down beside Rosie. A woman dressed as vintage as her stood behind her.
"Great! Everyone's here!" someone yelled loudly. Conversations fell silent as a man dressed in all white walked in. He walked down the long table and sat himself at the head of it. His chair was black and red and rather simple. This was the King of Hell.
He made direct eye contact with me. "Let us begin."
Let Me Show You…
King!Steve x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Smut, Fingering (F receiving)
Minors DNI - 18+
The school bell had gone a little over ten minutes ago, the seat beside yours still currently empty but you knew it wouldn’t be for much longer. Steve “The Hair” Harrington was always late to class, no apologies, no excuses, he’d just waltz in when he felt like it, taking his seat with a shit eating grin on his face. You’d been placed beside the “King” of Hawkins High at the back of the class, being forced to switch with Tommy Hagan two weeks ago when Mrs Click decided the two trouble makers were distracting each other and the rest of the students from their work and although you hated to admit it, sitting beside “King Steve” wasn’t so bad, he was extremely easy on the eyes after all.
Steve had always been flirty with you, especially since you had joined the cheer squad, cheering him and his teammates on while they played Basketball but he’d stepped up his game since being seated beside you in Click’s class. You’d done well to spurn his advances so far, knowing he’d been hanging out with Nancy Wheeler recently but that hadn’t stopped him from sweet talking you every chance he got.
The class had just started watching Romeo and Juliet when Tommy and Steve finally barged through the door, laughing loudly, earning a scowl from Mrs Click as they walked toward their seats in the darkness. “Mr Harrington, Mr Hagan, so nice of you to finally join us.” She said sarcastically as Tommy muttered something crude under his breath while Steve had already locked eyes with you, ignoring everyone else around him. “Hey princess, did you miss me?” He smirked, taking his seat as you tried to hide the smile that was forming on your lips.
“Don’t flatter yourself Harrington.” You replied, flicking your hair as he slouched into the chair, placing his backpack on the floor. You could smell the cigarettes on his breath while he tried to mask it with mint chewing gum but somehow the scent was still intoxicating because it was coming from him. Fuck, how was that possible?
As the rest of the class continued to watch the movie in silence, you could feel Steve’s eyes on you, admiring your new dress, ogling your sun kissed legs, moving up your body until they reached your cleavage. He wasn’t even trying to hide his lust for you.
“Wanna take a picture? It’ll last longer.” You tease, turning your head towards him confidently. Steve locks eye with you then, smirking as he leans closer to you.
“I think I’d rather the real thing, princess.” He admits as you clench your thighs, hoping he didn’t notice the effect he had on you.
You shake your head, trying to focus on the movie but you’ve got Steve’s full attention now and he knows he’s got you flustered already.
“C’mon sweetheart, I’m serious. When are you gonna let me take you out, huh?” He whispers.
“I can’t imagine Nancy would be too happy with you taking me out.” You reply, keeping your eyes on the screen at the top of the class.
“Who says she has to know? S’not like we’re exclusive anyway.” Steve shrugs carelessly.
“Oh really?” Your eyes widen with interest as he leans closer to you
“Yeah, really.”
“Hmm, even so, I think I’m busy.” You respond, faking a frown at the boy beside you as he presses his tongue to his cheek.
Steve can’t help but grin at your stubbornness, it’s a complete turn on for him and he can already feel his jeans tighten. He knows he can have any girl he wants at any time, but right now, he only wants you.
“That’s really too bad princess.” He sighs, pushing your pen off of the table and onto the floor with his elbow.
“And why is that?” You question raising a brow as he begins to lower his hand to the ground to pick up your pen but instead, you feel his fingers on your ankle, lightly running up the back of your leg before they move to the front of your knee and stop at the top of your thigh.
“Cause I think we both know I could give you the time of your life, sweetheart.” He whispers in your ear as your breath hitches, cheeks immediately heating up.
You knew Steve was cocky, he’d proved it on more than one occasion but feeling you up in the middle of class? Shit, even you didn’t think he had the balls to do that.
“Steve, what if someone…”
“No one’s gonna see me do anything, honey. No one’s even paying attention to us, so why don’t you just sit back, relax and open those pretty legs for me yeah?” He squeezes your thigh as you nod a yes before giving him the access he so badly desired.
You do your best to hold back a small moan as Steve casually sneaks his hand between your thighs, his fingers running over your white lace panties as he looks straight to the top of the class, pretending to be focused on the movie. He closes his eyes for a split second, licking his lips as he feels the heat radiating from your core.
“Shit princess, can already feel how wet you are. S’that all from me, huh?” He questions but you’re unable to answer, unable to think. He hooks one finger into your underwear, pulling the soaked piece of fabric to the side before teasing your folds.
“Steve….” You groan, trying to remember to breathe as he smiles at you, almost teasingly.
“S’ok honey, m’gonna give you what you want.” He mutters, resting his chin on your shoulder as he slides his middle finger between your folds, gathering your slick before putting the slightest bit of pressure on your clit.
“Ohmygod..” You whimper, shutting your eyes as he circles your little bundle of nerves.
“So fuckin’ wet for me.” He whispers, revelling in the way you’re trying not to make a sound.
“Did you think about this, honey? About me touching you? You did, didn’t you? Dirty girl, my dirty fuckin’ girl” Steve groans proudly, finally pushing a finger inside your cunt and then another.
You bite your lip trying to hide a desperate moan as he moves his fingers achingly slow inside you. His dick throbs with how tight you feel and his brain almost turns to mush when he thinks about how his cock would feel buried deep in you.
“Steve please…”
“Please what, honey? What do you need, tell me?” He requests, his nose and chin moving up the side of your neck and jaw, pepping quick, teasing kisses along the way. You shut your eyes again in utter bliss once you’ve confirmed that no one has caught on to your little escapade at the back of the room.
“Fuck, I need….Need you to go faster.” You beg, your mouth making an “o” shape as he starts to quicken the pace inside you, immediately giving you what you want. “That feel better, huh? This what you needed?” He smirks, pumping his fingers harder and faster.
“Mhmm.” You reply, looking down at the tent in Steve’s jeans, mouth watering at the sight when you see him palming at himself, trying to get a hint of relief.
“Steve you’re ha..”
“I know honey, this is what you do to me. Fuck I get hard just looking at you. Get so distracted by you in your little cheerleading outfit, just wanna take you into the locker room and fuck you senseless after every game.” He admits as your thighs clench around his hand, feeling a familiar knot in your stomach. Steve wasn’t lying, he’d jerked himself off on more than one occasion after a game in the locker room shower, unable to wait until he got home, needing to release himself after watching you cheer. Hearing you yell his name sent lightening bolts straight to his cock and he could just imagine how you’d sound saying his name in the throws of passion.
“Oh god…I’m close.”
“Yeah? You like the idea of me fucking you honey? Like the idea of my cock filling you up? Could have you screaming my name.” Steve teases as your eyes begin to water. He knows your close, knows you’re barely hanging on to your senses, it isn’t his first rodeo after all. He can feel you tightening around him, his fingers completely soaked and you’re both thankful for the noise coming from the tv to cover the squelching sounds coming from your pussy.
“Steve, I’m gonna cum.” You whine, grabbing at his wrist while he rubs a thumb over your clit.
“That’s my good girl, you gonna cum all over my fingers? Gonna make a fucking mess, yeah? Come on princess, let go for me, I’ve got you, s’ok.” He says, grabbing your face lightly, begging you to look at him as you reach your climax, gushing all over his fingers.
“Holy shit, that was the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.” Steve says, placing his forehead on yours, letting out a heavy breath as he slips his fingers out of your panties, placing the fabric back over your overly sensitive core as you try to fix yourself.
“That was amazing.” You sigh, trying to catch your breath, still comprehending what just happened when the bell rings, signalling the end of the class and you both jump apart before Mrs Click turns the lights back on.
Steve is the first of you to stand up, trying to hide his erection with a math book as pull your dress back down over your thighs. He doesn’t move until you give him the go ahead, letting him know you’re good.
“Guess I’ll see you around, princess.” He says, smiling at you as he begins to walk away, not expecting you to pull him back, guiding him towards the nearest restrooms. Steve just follows you in awe, mesmerised by the cheeky grin on your face.
“Wait, what are you…..”
“Can’t a girl repay the favour?” You smile sweetly as Steve nods in approval, swallowing hard. “Fuck yeah, she can.”
“Harrington! You coming man?” Tommy shouts over to where you were both standing, shaking his head when he sees the two of you giggling, hands all over each other as you lead him to the bathroom.
“Oh he’s coming alright.” You grin, dragging Steve into nearest cubicle, locking the door behind you before unzipping his pants.
Part Eight
“The tension in the room right now is palpable,” Pav mutters as you and him stand side by side in Peter and Mary Jane’s living room.
“My bet is on Miles,” you reply quietly.
“Hm, I think Noir has this one,” he replies as the two of you look over at Miles and Noir.
“Miles has this in the bag,” Hobie murmurs behind you and Pav, making both of you turn around to look at him.
The three of you watch behind a couch as Miles and Noir, who are sitting on the floor around the living room’s console table, eye each other as they play UNO. The group started out with them, Hobie, Gwen, Pav, and you while Peter, Mary Jane, Penny, Margo, and Peter Porker watched. You were unfortunately the third one out followed by Hobie, leaving Noir and Miles as the two final players.
The others are watching from the couch, trying to hold their giggles. It’s Friday night, which means you and the rest of the group came over for dinner at Peter and Mary Jane’s universe. It’s a weekly dinner and one you’ve learned to love. It gives you something to look forward to on the weekend because it means you and your friends can relax and engage outside of work.
Peter and Mary Jane cook but the rest of you bring something over, which means that there’s usually a large dinner. Dinner always takes about an hour or so since you all catch up on what’s happening in your lives, which means that each week you and the other adults get to hear the younger people talk about school and some new drama. Of course, there’s also some talk about missions and anomalies considering most of you are spider-people. Then, after helping Peter and Mary Jane clean up, you all gather in the living room to play games.
Ten minutes later, Miles wins the game and Noir complains about the cards’ colors. After a good laugh, you all have a slice of cake, which you baked yourself, before everyone starts heading out. You say your goodbyes and thank Peter and Mary Jane for dinner before you head back to your universe. You change into your pajamas almost immediately, but you don’t head to bed just yet.
Instead, you grab a book from your bookshelf and take a seat on your couch. It’s ten p.m. on a rainy Friday night. You look around your apartment as you snuggle onto the couch with a blanket thrown over your legs. You open the book but you look up, your eyes taking in your small apartment.
It's officially four years since Peter’s death. His death anniversary was a couple of days ago and of course, there were some tears but for the most part, you handled it well. You visited him and spent some time at the cemetery. You went through some photo albums, taking a walk down memory lane.
Four years.
Where did the time go? You sigh as you look around your apartment. Time has gone by, but it doesn’t seem like it did in your apartment. It still looks the same as it did back when Peter was alive. It’s a personal choice. You wanted to keep everything the same. So, you have the same wall decorations the two of you hung together. The furniture is unchanged and it all remains in the original places you and Peter chose back in the day.
As you hear the soft pit pat of rain on your windows, you feel the urge to change some things around. Or maybe add new things.
You nod to yourself, thinking of what you’d like to do but decide to leave that for another day. It’s already a good sign you’re thinking of redecorating a little bit. You turn back to the book and begin to read, hoping that the reading and calm rain will lure you to sleep, which won’t be hard as you’re already feeling exhausted from the missions you were a part of today plus the patrolling of your city.
Soon enough, you notice your eyes begin to skip lines and you’re having to find your place multiple times. You decide to call it a night when you see it’s midnight. You do your night routine before you slide into bed, drifting off without any trouble.
Miguel stares at one of his many monitors, standing on his platform. His eyes scan the information before him despite it being two in the morning. He scrolls a bit to see more information. It’s all the data that was collected the previous day on anomaly matter from multiple universes. Of course, Lyla reads the information and always lets him know when there’s something worth discussing but Miguel often prefers to go in and check himself. As he finishes reading the data from a specific section, he stretches his back to relieve some of the tension. He hears his back pop, and he sighs in relief before he returns to reading.
Miguel has been sleeping once a week at his penthouse for multiple weeks now but tonight is not one of those nights. Tonight, he’ll stay here in his empty lab like most nights. Even if he wanted to go home, he can’t. He feels restless. He notices the time on his monitors, of course. He finds himself wishing it was day already and he doesn’t know why. He sighs to himself, closing his eyes for a few seconds trying to regain his focus, so he can concentrate on the data, but he cannot. His fingers move on their own and soon, he’s looking at a video of himself and Gabriella, when he gifted her a soccer ball. He stares at the video fondly, remembering her happiness when she saw the gift. He closes it before he gets off his platform with another sigh and begins to walk out of his lab.
He exits his lab into one of the many hallways of HQ, deciding to take a walk to clear his mind. Miguel doesn’t really pay attention to where he’s going. He’s just walking. He does this sometimes when his brain needs a moment during the long nights. He walks the empty hallways and cafeteria, eyes scanning the city from behind the large windows. He cannot make much of it due to the rain falling against the glass, which has created a blurry effect. Still, Miguel can see the faint lights of flying cars and other buildings’ lights in the distance.
He walks and walks. It’s early Saturday morning and here he is, walking through an empty HQ. He eventually returns to his lab. His mind feels more at ease but there’s still something that gnaws at him. He resumes his work at his platform, scanning his monitors. Everything looks fine. He sighs again and begins to read the data, but that feeling is still there. It’s like Miguel knows that at any moment, Lyla will appear and tell him that something’s wrong.
He moves the screen closer, willing himself to concentrate. To ignore the feeling, but five minutes later, one of his screens flashes red and Lyla appears.
“Miguel – two anomalies have been detected. Earth-42. They just entered the universe.”
And there it is. Miguel’s mask immediately covers his face as he leaps off his platform.
“Two anomalies… Who are they? Are they in the system?” Miguel asks as he starts clicking on his gizmo, preparing to open a portal to travel.
“One of them is a Green Goblin version. The other one is not in our system. First time,” Lyla reports.
Miguel nods, wasting no time once the portal opens. He steps out onto a rooftop on Earth-42, the same one that was cleaned up by Miles and his variant from this Earth over a year ago when he ended up sent here by the Go Home Machine. As Miguel steps out onto a rooftop, he’s unable to stop himself from briefly scanning the city. What a difference. The city is well lit, calm, and there’s still a buzz of people despite the time and rain but Miguel quickly focuses on the task at hand, putting his thoughts behind.
He looks around the area, trying to catch sight of the anomalies. He spots the first one, an unknown anomaly running in circles on the street below. There’s no sight of the Green Goblin, however, so he decides to catch this strange anomaly first and then pursue the Green Goblin.
As he heads straight for the anomaly, Miguel’s eyes scan it, trying to get an idea of how dangerous it might be. The body is a white cybernetic one. The head, which is a male human head, is inside a container filled with liquid. Glass makes up the front portion of the container, making it possible for the anomaly to see and a few hoses run through the anomaly’s body, leading Miguel to make the educated guess it’s the way it sustains itself. He also notices that this anomaly only has one hand, while the other arm has a clamp at the end.
Just before Miguel lands on the ground, he prepares a trapper-keeper, ready to trap the anomaly to transport it to HQ. The anomaly, however, begins running away from him as soon as it spots him.
“Running already?” he mutters, as he starts chasing it. “Lyla, keep me updated on the Green Goblin, you know how they get with their little explosions.”
“The Green Goblin has moved further away,” Lyla answers, making Miguel groan. “Maybe you should call for backup.”
“No, I got this. Just keep me updated on the Goblin’s movements.”
“Whatever you say, boss.”
Lyla disappears, leaving Miguel to do his job. He runs before he leaps into the air, reaching an incredible height as he heads straight for the anomaly. The anomaly somehow senses his attack as it turns around and meets Miguel with its clamp, clawing at him to prevent any blows. The anomaly’s moves don’t deter Miguel though as he takes hold of the clamp before he pushes the man to the ground.
The anomaly uses his one hand to land a punch on Miguel’s thigh before he swipes one of his long cybernetic legs around Miguel’s lower body, knocking him to the ground. The anomaly runs off to a building, hoisting himself up by perforating the walls with the clamp.
Miguel quickly gets up, chasing after it. He shoots his web, wrapping it around the anomaly’s body and pulling but the anomaly puts up a good fight and ends up sniping the web with the clamp once it reaches the rooftop. Miguel spends ten minutes doing this: almost trapping the anomaly before it gets away.
“The Green Goblin is moving further away but there is no trouble detected. It’s like – it’s just waiting,” Lyla reports, sounding confused with the behavior of the Green Goblin.
“Waiting for what?” Miguel asks, in frustration as the anomaly keeps leaping off buildings.
“I don’t know.”
Miguel scowls, done with this already. In a rage of frustration, he shoots his webs and catches the anomaly in midair before pulling it towards him. Miguel is quick to jump, meeting the anomaly halfway before he delivers a blow to the head. It sends the anomaly crashing on a rooftop with a loud thud.
“You little-” the man says as he starts standing up, but he doesn’t have the opportunity to finish his sentence as Miguel lands on the rooftop and captures it with the trapper-keeper.
“Finally,” Miguel mutters, as he walks over to inspect it but before he even reaches it, he receives a heavy blow to his head, caught by surprise. “Green Goblin,” Miguel says angrily as he turns around.
“Hello, Spider-Man,” the Green Goblin greets him as he hovers in the air with his glider. “You look very different from my own Spider-Man.”
“That’s because you’re not in your universe,” Miguel answers annoyed as he lunges himself at the Goblin.
He knocks the Goblin off the glider, leading to the two of them landing on the rooftop before they begin hand to hand combat. The two men land blows on each other as the captured anomaly tries to break out of the trapper-keeper to no avail. Miguel notices this and it’s at this moment of distraction that the Goblin seizes his opportunity. He pulls out the Goblin trident and aims at Miguel’s hand, hitting his gizmo in the process.
Miguel immediately turns to the Goblin, retrieving his hand. He takes a quick glance at the gizmo before scowling at the Goblin, who’s about to take another swing at Miguel.  Miguel blocks it this time and throws a punch at him, sending him flying. The Goblin lands on the floor, quickly getting up on his feet and like every other Green Goblin in the multiverse, the cunning man pauses for a second, tilting his head as he stares at Miguel with interest. His eyes flicker to the strange device on this Spider-Man’s wrist. He grins behind his green mask before he dashes at Miguel, trident in hand.
Miguel and the Green Goblin continue to fight. Miguel successfully dodges the trident several times, but the Green Goblin only seems to be fueled by this. He swipes at Miguel with the trident, finally slicing his skin under the suit. Miguel winces, pressing his hand to his body briefly, a moment the Green Goblin takes to hit the gizmo again.
“I’ve had enough of you,” Miguel mumbles, as his talons extend.
“That’s a new one,” the Green Goblin comments, referring to the talons, before he jumps off the rooftop.
And of course, Miguel O’Hara never gives up, so he runs after the Green Goblin under the pouring rain. He watches as the anomaly lands on its glider before he flies off, laughing at Miguel. With a scowl, Miguel shoots his web and starts following him, catching up with the anomaly in no time.
“Catch, Spider-Man!” the Green Goblin says pulling out one of its many grenades before he throws it at a building.
Miguel charges towards it, successfully stopping it from detonating but what he doesn’t sense is the Green Goblin coming from behind with his trident. He hits Miguel’s gizmo again with a strength that manages to crack the screen. He swipes at Miguel once more, slicing his skin almost in the same place as earlier before he flies off. Miguel shoots his web to keep himself from falling to the ground.
“Mierda!” Miguel yells as he swings, clutching the same area that was sliced.
He looks down at his gizmo, noticing the crack on it. It should continue working, Miguel thinks to himself, knowing that he and Lyla spent a lot of time making sure the device would be durable. It would take a lot to break it.
And it becomes the Green Goblin’s mission to do so. As Miguel and the anomaly continue their fight through the city, the Green Goblin aims hit after hit on the device, cunningly planning blows as he realizes the Spider-Man before him doesn’t sense his moves like the superhero from his own universe.
“Don’t let him hit the gizmo, Miguel!” Lyla warns, as the Green Goblin makes another swing.
And so, after what feels like an hour of fighting, the green mask man succeeds.
“Migu-” Lyla starts but doesn’t finish.
The gizmo’s screen shatters, and Miguel immediately knows it when he sees the colors of the device fade and Lyla’s holograph disappearing, making Miguel cuss under his breath as he realizes what this means. He needs to catch the Green Goblin soon, before he starts glitching.
The Green Goblin, however, has other plans as he flies off towards a skyscraper. He immediately pulls out more of his grenades, throwing them at the building. Miguel rushes and jumps into the air to try and stop them from detonating and as he works on this, the Green Goblin flies to him, quickly stabbing him with his trident in the stomach. He laughs at Miguel as he twists the trident to add more pain before flying off just as one of the remaining grenades goes off, blowing up a part of the skyscraper. Miguel, who is falling in midair due to the injury, covers his face as debris bursts around him. He feels some of it, glass from the windows, dig into his body causing him to groan in pain.
The adrenaline of it all still allows him to shoot his webs, preventing himself from falling. Except he glitches. For the first time in his life, Miguel experiences firsthand what it feels like to be an anomaly. He feels the shock of it in his body as he’s falling again since his web gave out in the process of glitching. The glitching stops and he tries again, catching himself on time. He lifts himself up onto a rooftop to collect himself, but the pain is there. He looks around quickly, there’s no sight of the Green Goblin. Miguel breathes heavily, the action making pain course through his body. He looks up at the city as he feels blood gush under his suit, where the trident puncture his body.
“Mierda,” Miguel mumbles out of breath, realizing what his situation means. No one knows he’s here. It’s the middle of the night and he’s injured, unable to travel back to his universe because his gizmo is broken. The realization dawns on him.
This might be it.
As the realization hits him, Miguel looks around the city. The rain is going strong, and he can hear sirens in the distance. He must move somewhere else. The tallest building catches his eye right away. He makes one last swing, forcing himself to climb the building despite the pain but thinking that if this is it, he wants to have a nice view. He thankfully doesn’t glitch on his way up, allowing him to make it to the rooftop. He collapses against a wall, next to the building’s door that leads to the rooftop. Miguel stares out into the city as he lays on the ground, clutching his stomach. The adrenaline is wearing off, and he knows it because his body feels weaker now. He begins to feel the pain more as it runs through his body. He can feel blood under his suit, gushing out slowly and his breathing feels more labored now.
Miguel looks at his gizmo again, as if hoping that the device will magically function, but he knows better. There’s no way to return to his universe. He sighs, the action taking more effort than it should as he lets his mask off, wanting his face to feel the rain.
What a way to die. In another universe that isn’t his home. Alone on a rooftop as rain cascades down on him. His hair is damp and it’s sticking to his forehead, but Miguel makes no attempt to fix it. His face – no – his entire body feels cold, which is a strange feeling for Miguel. His body heat has always prevented him from being cold but his body – the one he has pushed to its limits for years now – fails him now.
Miguel tries to ignore it. He tries to focus on the city and the skyscrapers. It’s a lovely sight and he can’t help but remember the day he was here with you many months ago when he assigned you to work with him for the first time. It was daytime and the sight was wonderful. He can’t help but think that you would love the sight even more at night.
As he stares out into the city, he can’t help but also think how ironic this is. Miguel is about to die on Earth-42. The very same universe linked to the whole mess with Miles. It seems so far away now, Miguel thinks. When he was set on preventing Miles from saving his father so he wouldn’t break the canon. It was such a messy situation. He acted in a way he’ll never be able to take back even if everyone else moved on.
Now, here he is. On Earth-42, in a far different city than the one he met when he first ventured into the multiverse. It’s almost like a slap in the face. As if it was meant for him to think of this in his last moments. To see one of his biggest mistakes.
Miguel sighs again and this time, the action makes him hiss in pain. He can feel the blood. The pain is there but he tries to bear with it. He tries to distract himself.
As Miguel stares at the lights and the skyscrapers, his mind begins to wander off. He thinks of his family and flashes of memories run through his head. He sees his mom, when she was much younger and he was a kid, tending to his scraped knee. He sees her cooking in the kitchen of his childhood home.
He sees Gabriel sitting on his bedroom floor playing with his action figures, the same ones he begged Conchata for. He remembers the evenings they spent together, playing and pretending to be superheroes, not knowing what was in store for them in the future. He recalls the times when Gabriel was still so young and had nightmares. He found no comfort from his father, so he always went to Miguel’s bedroom. There, Miguel would comfort and assure him that it was just a bad dream and that it meant nothing. Despite Miguel’s comforting words, Gabriel always asked if he could stay with him, and Miguel could never say no.
“Gabrielito,” Miguel whispers, as he thinks of his little brother. His childhood face flashes in Miguel’s head before it morphs into Gabriel’s adult face. It was unfair, so unfair. Like any other older sibling, Miguel always thought he would be the first to pass away. He never imagined that it would be his little brother. He never imagined he would be taken away the way he was either. It was so unfair.
And as he thinks of Gabrielito, Miguel remembers a song his brother was very fond of. Surprisingly, the music is so clear in his mind as if it was only yesterday when the two of them drove to hang out with friends. As the older brother, Miguel was obviously the driver and Gabriel sat in the passenger seat, playing music. He remembers the first time Gabriel played it. He asked Miguel to be quiet and to just listen to it. And so, they had. They drove in silence as the instrumental song played, and it felt oddly nostalgic.
Miguel’s breathing slows down as the memories rush through his mind. They switch over to Gabriella. His time with her was short but they made so many memories. He can’t help but feel shame and pain in his chest as he thinks of her. Miguel has strayed away from his religion for some time now, but he hopes that if Heaven is real, that’ll he get to see her again. To hold her one more time. To apologize to her for lying. His wife comes to mind, too, of course, and so does the shame. He fell in love so quickly. His need to have a family blinded him so much, everything was rushed. Miguel can’t help but think now that he would’ve done things differently if he could. He wouldn’t have rushed into things. His wife had deserved better than him. Yet, he thinks fondly of the short time they had. He thinks warmly of the time he had a family even if it’s laced with shame and pain.
He lets his mind take him to those memories, back to those days that are long gone. As his mind is flooded with memories, he doesn’t notice the slowness of his breathing or heart. He doesn’t even feel the coldness of the wet ground or the cold raindrops that run down his beautiful face. He doesn’t notice that he’s staring at the city with half-lidded eyes now.
His mind goes through everything that happened in the last two years, including the fight and the multiverse hunt for Miles, which all lead to the last year. And of course, the last year leads to you. Your face flashes in Miguel’s mind. He thinks of the first time he met you when Jess introduced you. He thinks of the first weeks that you showed up with coffee to meetings before anyone else arrived and how he ignored the gesture. He remembers the day you volunteered to organize his lab thanks to Jess’s comment about the clutter. He sees different days combined into one memory of you chatting with Lyla as you worked, your voice and Lyla’s carrying to him, allowing him to hear bits and pieces.
He thinks of the day he showed up at your apartment and how he hated feeling something, which he now realizes was worry. Everything that has happened with you runs through his mind like a show. He sees your face, looking up at him on Dia de los Muertos, with that look of understanding in your eyes. He sees your arm reaching out to him when you wanted to comfort him. He sees you sitting on his kitchen island, eating the food he cooked on Christmas Eve. He remembers the ornaments and how yours was better than his. He recalls you showing up the next day. You brought cake and it was delicious. He remembers the two of you sat on the kitchen island again to eat, that time joined by Lyla, who asked questions as per usual.
He thinks of New Years Eve. You were invited to Miles’s universe, and you were sent to drop off food again. You stayed for a while once he mentioned that there was a huge firework show after the ball dropped, which meant that you spent the last and first minutes of the year with him in his penthouse.
Miguel’s heart continues to slow down as he thinks of the last year. You’re his friend. And he can’t help but feel disappointed that he’ll never be able to tell you face to face now. He wishes he could thank you. For everything. For the days you dealt with his coldness when he didn’t acknowledge you at all and left your coffee untouched. He briefly thinks about your excuse for taking him coffee. You lied much the same way he had lied about his reasoning for checking in on you that very first day. The day that led to your friendship. As Miguel’s eyelids further close, he thinks of how you’ll never know the truth about that day.
No one will.
Miguel’s heart beats slower and his body is cold as the rain continues to fall on him in the early morning. He listens to the soft pit pat as rain lands on the ground as the seconds tick by.
The same pit pat of rain can be heard on your apartment windows. The sound of it immediately fills your ears when you jolt awake from your sleep. A loud gasp escapes from your lips as you sit up on your bed. You sit, listening to the rain in the darkness of your bedroom as you try to catch your breath.
Your spider senses begin to go off, making you realize that’s what woke you up. You hurriedly jump out of bed and make a straight line to where you keep the two-way radio. You always keep the volume somewhat high during the night in case of emergencies but as you grab it and wait, there’s no feedback. Your eyes flicker to the clock on your nightstand. It’s three in the morning. You hurry to the windows of your apartment, pulling the curtains open to look out. There’s no sight of disturbance. If anything, the city looks at peace under the rain.
There’s not even the sound of traffic. All you can hear is the sound of rain but it’s there again. Your spider senses. Something is not right.
You hurry and get changed into your suit, not knowing what to do. Nothing looks wrong outside but you’re out of your apartment in less than three minutes. You swing from building to building as your eyes inspect the streets below. Your eyes search for anyone who might be in danger or anyone who might cause trouble.
Nothing.
You land on a rooftop to catch your breath. There’s a feeling of dread growing in the pit of your stomach. It’s one you’re all too familiar with as you’ve only ever felt this kind of dread once before. You try not to think of it but it’s impossible not to. The kind of dread that’s spreading through your body is the same kind you felt the day you lost Peter. You felt it spread like poison when you hurried to find Peter in the rubble. The feeling is branded into your mind and as you stand on the rooftop, overlooking the city still searching for trouble, you are overwhelmed by it once again.
You click on your gizmo and open a portal. If nothing is wrong in your universe, maybe there’s trouble somewhere else, you tell yourself. You quickly travel to all your friends’ universes within two minutes. Each time you arrive, you scan your friends’ cities but find nothing amiss. The cities are peaceful. You’re about to open another portal when your senses go off once again.
“What’s happening?” you mutter, as you look around one more time, seeing nothing.
You quickly head to HQ, finding yourself in the cafeteria. You walk through it quickly, feeling even more uneasy at the sight of a usually busy place being vacant of any life. Some of the lights are completely off, leaving pockets of darkness lingering around as you cross the cafeteria. You wonder where you’re even heading as you walk past the large windows of the Spider Society building, noticing the rain and the distant lights of flying cars.
Miguel’s city looks peaceful as well. Nothing seems wrong and yet that dread grows with each step you take, growing and clawing at your chest. Finally paying more attention, you realize you’ve made your way to Miguel’s lab. Perhaps there’s an anomaly threatening the entirety of the multiverse, you try to reason. Maybe that’s why you woke up.
You stand in front of Miguel’s lab and call for Lyla. Despite the uneasiness and dread running through your body, you still find it in yourself to ask for permission to enter his lab. You wait impatiently for the AI assistant to greet you but as the seconds tick by, there’s no sight of Lyla and your emotions intensify. It’s like a sign that something is definitely wrong. You call for Lyla one more time, saying her name louder and with more urgency as if that’ll help. Nothing. You burst into the lab, deciding to be sorry rather than safe.
“Miguel?” you call out, as you hurriedly enter his lab, hoping to find him on his platform surrounded by his many screens like always. “I’m sorry that I entered your lab like that, but Lyla is not responding, and my spider senses are goi-” you say, stopping when your eyes finally land on the platform.
Miguel’s screens are flashing red, not the usual marigold color you’ve grown accustomed to. And even worse yet, Miguel is nowhere in sight. You rush to the platform to get a closer look at the screens. They all read “DISCONNECTED.”
You stare in confusion but realize this must be the reason why Lyla didn’t respond earlier. You call out Miguel’s name again, but you’re met with a deafening silence. You take a deep breath in. Lyla is offline. The screens are flashing red. And Miguel is nowhere to be found.
You hurriedly try to reach Miguel through your gizmo, but your gizmo flashes a message, indicating that the recipient is disconnected. Your dread grows. There’s no way that Miguel would go offline like this. You’re halfway out of HQ when you reach out to Margo, the one person you know who can manage Miguel’s technology. As you head out into Nueva York, you pray for once that Margo is pulling one of her usual all-nighters. As you swing towards Miguel’s penthouse, Margo finally responds.
“Hey – what are you doing up this late? Something wrong?” Margo immediately asks.
You look down at her projected hologram from your gizmo. “Margo. Something is wrong with Miguel’s system. Lyla is offline and so is he. I think – I think something’s wrong. Can you please head to HQ and fix it? I’m on my way to Miguel’s penthouse to see if he’s alright,” you say, the words rushing out of your mouth, full of worry.
“Offline? That’s not – I don’t think Miguel would ever go offline,” Margo responds with a frown. “I’m going now to see what’s going on.”
“I’ll meet you there in a few minutes. Bye,” you say as her hologram disappears.
You quickly find Miguel’s building and swing to it, sticking to the walls. You climb it, until you reach the penthouse and look inside. All the lights are off and there’s no sight of Miguel anywhere. You climb onto the rooftop, immediately clicking on your gizmo to open a portal, pulling the coordinates that were sent to you on Christmas Eve months ago. You hurriedly walk through it, stepping into Miguel’s living room once again.
Your eyes scan the place quickly before you rush up the stairs. With each step you take, you feel that dread grow tenfold. You pray that everything’s fine. That you’ll only have to apologize to Miguel for coming into his home the way you are now. You pray that he’ll be in bed sleeping for once and that this is all some misunderstanding. You open the first door you come across, eyes scanning the room only to realize it’s an office. You open the next door and find a large, luxurious bathroom. The next room is a bedroom, but you immediately realize it’s not the master bedroom, so you rush to the next door, pushing it open. Your heart sinks as you take in the sight.
Miguel’s bedroom is empty, and his bed looks undisturbed, which means he’s not home. You rush back to the first floor before you sprint to the living room, gizmo already opening a portal. You travel back to HQ, popping up at the cafeteria before you rush to the lab, wondering if Margo has been able to fix the problem. All the while, your dread grows. You feel your chest tighten as you think of Miguel and his whereabouts.
You burst into the lab where you find Margo, opening and closing screens with the flick of her wrist. She looks over her shoulder before she continues to work.
“He’s not at home,” you manage to breathe out despite the tightness in your chest.
“This is – not looking good,” Margo says, making you freeze.
“What do you mean it’s not looking good?” you ask, staring at her back as she continues to work. Her words make your anxiety grow.
“Miguel’s gizmo is completely offline, which means… it’s broken. Wherever he is, the gizmo is not working at all,” she says as she opens another screen.
You bring a hand to your face, gripping your lower face as you look around the lab. You feel your breathing speed up while at the same time finding it difficult to even do so.
“Have you been able to get Lyla back online?” you ask shakily.
“I’m working on it. Just one more step,” Margo says in a rush, noticing your demeanor slowly crumbling apart. “She’s back! Lyla must know what happened.”
It takes a few seconds before Lyla appears and you waste no time.
“Lyla, where is Miguel?” you ask, stepping closer to her.
“Y/N! Miguel is hurt and stranded on Earth-42! There were two anomalies detected and he went out to handle them but one of them broke his gizmo and managed to injure him,” Lyla hurriedly explains the situation.
“Shit,” you mutter, and begin to open a portal. “What were his last coordinates, Lyla?”
“I’ll send them to you, please hurry! I don’t know how badly he was injured, and he must be glitching by now.”
“Inform Jess of what’s happening and see if we can get other members to help. Miguel may have moved from the last coordinates you have. We may need to search the city for him. Margo. Please stay here just in case we need any help with the system. I’ll keep you updated,” you say before you rush into the portal.
Rain pours down on you as you step into Earth-42. You waste no time in looking around at the city and instead run to the ledge of the rooftop. You lunge yourself to the next building, eyes scanning, trying to find any sign of Miguel. Lyla’s hologram appears from your gizmo as you fly to the next building, giving you Miguel’s last known location.
You swing from building to building, moving fast just as you see another portal from your peripheral vision.
“Y/N. Any sign of Miguel?” Jess asks, joining the search.
“Not yet,” you reply as you continue to swing.
“Others will be joining the search. They’re on their way,” Jess replies.
And sure enough, as you swing between buildings, you see multiple portals opening from various rooftops. You feel relief to see others joining and hope that with more people involved, the search won’t last long.
“Alright, everyone. Lyla has sent Miguel’s last location. He’s injured and probably glitching as his gizmo stopped working.”
You hear your colleagues’ replies as you head to the location. You briefly wonder about the anomalies. Were they caught or did they get away? You reach Miguel’s last location and immediately search the rooftop for any signs, but Miguel is nowhere to be seen. You turn when you hear someone else join you. Hobie gives you a nod before he searches the other side of the rooftop.
“Nothing,” he says.
You dash to the other rooftop, looking down at the empty and dark alleyways, hoping to find something.
“This rooftop looks disturbed. Looks like there was some fighting,” Hobie communicates.
You locate him and join him. Others join you and Hobie in inspecting the scene, and sure enough there are signs of fighting but no sign of Miguel anywhere around. You look around, trying to get a feel of where the fighting moved to from this rooftop. You leap to the next rooftop, continuing your search.
“There is no sight of anomalies,” someone says, making you pause. If Miguel’s gizmo isn’t working and this isn’t his universe, surely that would mean that Lyla should be able to detect him as an anomaly in this universe.
You continue to search but call for Lyla, who immediately appears.
“Lyla. If Miguel’s gizmo isn’t working, can’t you detect him as an anomaly in this universe?” you ask her, hoping that she and everyone else including you forgot about this fact and that she’ll be able to pinpoint his exact location, but she shakes her head, giving you a look full of frustration.
“I’ve tried that. Unfortunately, the system failure from earlier has caused some malfunctions in the entire system. I cannot detect any anomalies at all right now. Margo and I are working on it. As soon as we get it running again, I’ll run the test and find him unless you guys find him first.”
You thank her and let her go, hoping that Miguel is found whichever way as long as it’s soon. You continue to move around, lunging from building to building like the other members in search of the founder and commander of the Spider Society. Your heart races as you search, and you pause for a second, trying to calm yourself down. Panicking like this will only interfere with successfully finding him. You pause and take a deep breath. Your spider senses went off earlier and now you’re sure it was for this reason. You try to calm down, hoping that this will allow your senses to come in. You will them to help you right now; to lead you in the right direction.
You don’t allow yourself to think too long about the fact that you sensed this. That you sensed Miguel was in trouble. You ignore it. That will be something to ponder about later, or maybe not, considering you’ll come up with no reasonable explanation. You hope no one questions how you knew either.
You look around the city as rain continues to pour down on you. Since you arrived, the rain has picked up and all you can think about is Miguel on some rooftop, hurt and glitching under the cold rain.
“Where are you, Miguel?” you whisper, as you do a full turn.
Your gaze moves past it, but your eyes quickly return to it. The tallest building in the city is about ten buildings away from you. You stop and look up at it, rain falling on your masked face. Before you know it, you’re running across rooftops, leaping in the air to reach the building. You hear Hobie and Jess scream at you, asking where you’re going, and you reluctantly answer through your gizmo.
“I’m just going to check something,” you reply, as you throw web at the building now, aiding you in reaching the building faster. You feel a strange sensation spread through your chest as you stick to the building and begin to run upwards. You hope you’re right and yet again you wonder what it’ll mean if you are, but you don’t spend too much time thinking about this. All you care about at the end of the day is that Miguel is found and well. You continue to run, lifting yourself up with your web. You use a combination of running and lifting to reach the top of the building, meanwhile you can sense other members far behind joining you.
And why wouldn’t they when they see the speed and determination in your movements. To everyone paying attention, you’re climbing the tallest building in the city as if you know that your distant and serious commander is on that rooftop.
And he is.
You see his slumped figured over a wall and rush with a speed that almost makes it seem like you teleported to him. You are kneeled at his right side almost instantly, eyes scanning his bare face.
You quickly lift your gizmo and inform the others.
“Miguel has been found. He’s on the tallest building’s rooftop,” you say, sounding ragged not only because of the climb but also because of relief that you’ve found him. You notice his chest moving. Breathing. “He’s breathing!” you add, informing your colleagues.
You notice raindrops running down his face and without a second thought, you remove your mask and lay it over his head as an attempt to shield his face. Your worry for Miguel is so strong that you don’t even notice the coldness of the rain on your face or the fact that your hair is getting damp.
You move closer to him now. “Miguel,” you say and tentatively grab his right shoulder. “Miguel, can you hear me?” you ask loudly, hoping he’ll hear you over the pouring rain.
You take in the sight of Miguel, anguish spreading through your body as you try to get a sense of his injuries. His brown hair is wet from the rain, making it stick to his forehead.  His face looks like it has lost some color, which worries you instantly, but you try not to think negatively. Miguel is a strong man, and you know his spider abilities allow him to withhold many injuries. The only thing bothering you is that you don’t know the extent of the injuries he may have. For all you know, they could be serious, which is why you’re careful when you look down at his body, trying to find any sign of injury, but his suit looks intact.
“Miguel,” you say again and this time you cup the right side of his face in your hand, immediately feeling the coldness of his skin even through your suit. Shame rushes through you as you hold his face, feeling like you’re disrespecting him and his boundaries regarding physical touch, but you push past it and call his name again.
And this time, Miguel shifts slightly. His eyes flutter open slowly before they move to you.
“You are here” he mumbles, with his maroon eyes meeting yours.
“Miguel! Yes, we’re here. Don’t worry, we’re taking you back home, okay?” you say softly, reassuring him. “Where are you hurt?” you ask him just as other members finally reach the rooftop.
“I have glass shards in my torso,” he says, closing his eyes. “And a few deep cuts. My gizmo is not working,” he adds softly with eyes still closed, feeling your suited hand cupping his face gently.
You nod though he cannot see you and look down at his gizmo since he mentioned it, noticing for the first time the broken device. You’ve never seen or heard of anyone’s breaking, not even during a gruesome fight since Miguel and Lyla spent a lot of time making sure they were durable in these kinds of scenarios. You wonder how it was possible that it managed to get broken. You shove your thoughts away and remove your hand from Miguel’s face. You quickly remove your gizmo and gently take Miguel’s right arm in your free hand as you’re suddenly surrounded by your colleagues. You slide your gizmo into his free wrist, ensuring that he won’t glitch any more in the meantime before he’s back to Nueva York, so he won’t be in additional pain. You let go of his arm and turn slightly to see who’s made it already.
Miguel opens his eyes when he feels the gizmo around his wrist. He looks at your hands, your wrist now empty. He wants to tell you to take it back or you’ll glitch soon, but Jess begins to talk, giving orders to your colleagues as the second in command, preventing him from warning you.
“We need to get him to HQ immediately,” she says stepping closer. “We’ll need to carry him carefully as we don’t know the extent of the injuries,” she adds looking down at Miguel and you, who remains kneeled at his side. She looks around and calls out some of your colleagues’ names, including yours, to help carry Miguel to HQ.
You and the others immediately get on it. You turn to Miguel and give him an apologetic look though his eyes are closed again before you take his arm. You put all your strength along with Ben Reilly to help Miguel up, but you end up getting replaced by Peter once it becomes apparent that your height difference is an issue. Still, you stand by closely making sure that they don’t hurt him in the process. Someone opens a portal just as Jess gives the order to the other members to search for the anomalies.
You watch as Ben and Peter hold Miguel, walking carefully into the portal. Jess motions for you to go, following closely behind you.
“The infirmary staff is ready to treat him. They should be waiting for us,” Jess says as you step foot back in HQ.
You briefly look around at the infirmary sector before your eyes return to Miguel. Sure enough, infirmary staff approach the three men and before you know it, Miguel is on a stretcher being led away down a long hallway.
A doctor, who you hadn’t noticed before, approaches you and everyone else. You watch as the staff take Miguel away until they enter a room and disappear while Jess and the doctor talk.
“With Miguel hurt, I’ll be handling things until he recovers. That means I’ll have to be away, but you can direct yourself to -” Jess says pausing, looking around before her eyes land on you. “You can direct yourself to her. Y/N,” you hear Jess.
You turn at the mention of your name. You find her, the doctor and Peter looking at you.
“As the second in command, I’ll be taking over for now. Peter, you’ll be my second in command in the meantime. And you,” Jess says nodding at you. “You’ll be my third in command. I need you to stay here and keep us updated on Miguel’s status. You’re also to make sure that his privacy is respected,” she says with a frown. “I doubt anyone will try anything, but I rather be safe than sorry. Make sure no one tries to go in for any reason. If he wants visitors once he’s awake, it’ll be up to him.”
You nod.
“Of course, I’ll keep you updated and make sure no one intrudes on his priva-” you start but stop when you glitch. You cry out as you experience glitching for the first time and nearly lose your balance, but Peter catches you before you fall.
“You’re glitching – where is your gizmo?” Peter asks confused as he holds you, keeping you steady.
You huff in pain and look up as the feeling starts fading away. You meet Peter and Jess’s eyes.
“I gave it to Miguel to prevent him from glitching again in the time it took us to transport him,” you finally say softly, still feeling a little out of breath. You can’t help but think how awful it feels to glitch even in good health, making you wonder what it must have felt like for Miguel while being injured. You sigh softly. “I’ll keep you guys updated. And I’ll make sure Miguel is undisturbed,” you add.
Jess and Peter look at you before the two of them nod.
“I’ll have someone send you a gizmo in a while. For now, put this on to prevent more glitching,” Jess says pulling out a day pass from her pocket. She hands it to you, and you slide it on immediately, thanking her. “Peter and I will be in Miguel’s lab. Margo and Lyla are still trying to fix the system. We need to get it fixed before we find ourselves with multiple anomalies running loose, so we’ll be taking care of that. As I said, someone will deliver a gizmo so you can keep us updated, alright?”
You nod and Jess nods back at you. She stares at you for a few seconds as if she wants to say more but she looks over at Peter, who meets her eyes before he turns to you. He gives you a reassuring smile.
“We’ll get through this. Everything will be alright. Right, Jess?” he says, turning his attention back to Jess as he lets go of you at last, sensing you’re more stable now after glitching.
“Right,” Jess says before she nods at you and gives her thanks to the doctor, who hurries off. Jess, too, departs, heading to the elevator with Ben following behind.
Your gaze moves to the doctor as she walks down the hallway. Your eyes follow her even when you feel Peter’s hand on your shoulder.
“He’ll be okay. Miguel is a strong guy,” he says softly in a reassuring tone, also watching the doctor for a few seconds. He sighs and squeezes your shoulder gently before he departs, following Jess and Ben to the elevator.
You stand alone in the infirmary’s quiet lobby now. You look around to distract yourself. Thankfully you’ve never needed to be here, so you’re not familiar with this floor. You find yourself walking to the windows. It’s still dark out, so you can see the lights on from other buildings and cars in the distance despite the blurriness due to the soft rain. You stare out of the windows for some time, your mind taken up by Miguel and his health.
It's not until you feel a tap on the shoulder that you turn away from the windows. You find Ben Reilly, who offers you a small smile before he hands you a gizmo and a tablet.
“Jess sends this. The gizmo for obvious reasons and the tablet to keep you occupied while you wait,” he says, still giving you a smile.
You take both devices and nod at him, giving him a small smile. “Thank you, Ben. I appreciate it,” you say as you slide on the new gizmo.
Ben nods, staring at you. You hold on to the tablet, looking down at it before Ben breaks the silence. “Pretty crazy, right?”
You look up just as he pushes his hair to the side a bit, and nod before turning to face the windows again. “Yes.”
The two of you stare out the window for a few seconds in silence, watching the rain.
“Miguel will be alright, I think. He’s a buff dude,” Ben says, trying to reassure you. You smile sadly and nod.
You hear Ben pop his fingers next to you. “I must head back now. Jess and Peter needs everyone on board to find those anomalies so – I’ll see you around.”
You turn to face him and thank him again. “Thank you. Please tell Jess and Peter that if they need me to do anything else, to let me know.”
Ben nods as he stands in front of you, giving you another small smile. “Consider it done. By the way, the way you leaped up that building was – very impressive and I mean that in a good way,” he adds.
You nod again, feeling somewhat lighter with Ben’s comment as you’ve learned over the last months that he’s really into dramatic poses and such and you have a feeling he’s trying to lighten up the mood despite the situation. “Thank you, Ben. I appreciate the compliment.”
Ben nods one more time before he starts departing but turns around again, remembering something.
“Oh, I almost forgot. Your mask,” he says walking back to you and pulling your mask from under his hoodie and handing it to you. “It fell when we carried Miguel back here.”
You take it from his hand. You completely forgot about it once you put it over Miguel’s head. You thank him again for his help before he departs, leaving you alone again. You slide the mask into one of your suit’s hidden pockets and hold on to the tablet but don’t boot it up. Instead, you turn your attention back to the windows. You wait patiently there, hoping that someone will come and give you an update, but no one comes. Your mind goes back to what happened tonight and you try to think of an explanation but eventually drop it. You don’t know what happened tonight. You don’t know what led you to sense Miguel’s situation but you’re glad he’s safe now, in his universe and that’s all that matters.
It’s not until almost two hours later that you hear footsteps. You turn around immediately, for once departing from your spot by the windows. Your eyes find the doctor from earlier as she heads your way. She gives you a nod of acknowledgment as she reaches you.
“Mr. O’Hara is stable now. He had multiple glass shards on his torso, many of which were small, so we needed to ensure we didn’t miss any of them to prevent an infection. He also has two large cuts on the left side of his torso and a stab wound in the middle of his abdomen. It was pretty deep, and it will take a few days to fully heal. We know he glitched a few times and it took some toll on his body, so that’s why it’ll make his injuries heal slower, but he’ll recover successfully,” the doctor informs you with a kind voice. “Would you like to see him? He’s still passed out due to the meds, but you can stay in the room with him now.”
You nod immediately. “Yes, please. And thank you for the update. I’ll let the others know right away,” you say, as the two of you walk down the hallway.
You can’t help but feel your heart pound in your chest as you approach the room. The doctor opens the door for you, letting you in.
“Let us know if you need anything,” she says before she closes the door softly, giving you privacy.
The hospital room’s lights are off except for two lamps to the left side of the room and a light behind the hospital bed, where you find Miguel. You carefully walk closer to the bed, your eyes scanning his face under the soft lighting. As you step closer and stand by his side at last, your eyes continue to observe his face. Miguel’s face is relaxed, and you can’t help but think how boyish he looks while sleeping. It’s as if all the worries and threats to the multiverse are nonexistent at this moment.
You notice his hair is dry now, but it’s still pressed to his forehead, giving him a messy look, which just adds to the boyish look. You fight the urge to fix it and instead pull a chair closer to the bed before you take a seat. You remember you need to update everyone, so you send a quick message to Jess, notifying her that Miguel is stable and what the doctor said about his injuries. It takes a few seconds before she replies that she’s relieved to hear the news. She also asks you to let her know when Miguel wakes up.
You sit on your chair near Miguel, listening to his even and slow breathing. You watch his chest gently rise and fall before your eyes trace his face. His face still needs to regain its natural color but he’s alive and he’ll recover. All is well now. For the first time since you woke up, you exhale deeply; releasing pent up emotions now that your very own eyes can confirm that Miguel is safe. Before you know it, you feel tears pooling in your eyes as you stare at Miguel’s sleeping face.
You rest an arm on the chair’s armchair and rest your chin on your hand as you feel the tears run down your face softly. Your lips quiver as you hold a soft sob in the quiet hospital room, unable to stop yourself from crying.
Tonight is the first time in four years that you’ve felt anything remotely close to what you felt the day you lost Peter. The dread that grew with each second as you headed to find him. The tightening of your chest that made it difficult to breathe as you swung from building to building. The feeling that you were going to be too late. Again.
Of course, you know it’s different. Peter had a small window of time that to this day you believe you missed. You felt lucky enough that you were able to say goodbye to him.  Meanwhile, Miguel could’ve probably hung on for a little longer due to his powers and yet, you still felt those same emotions while you searched for him. You continue to cry quietly, letting the tears run freely down your face as you watch over him.
You’re unable to stop yourself from thinking the worst. Sure, you are superheroes but that doesn’t mean you are invisible to danger or death. As your eyes remain on Miguel’s sleeping face, your chest feels heavy at the brief thought of something worse happening to him, making your eyes tear up more. You cry quietly, covering your mouth until you calm down.
You sniffle once your tears slow down and blame it on your lack of sleep and the adrenaline completely leaving your body now. You dry your face and breathe in before exhaling softly. The last thing you want is for someone to see you like this. You check your gizmo, reading the time. It’s past 5:30 A.M. and when you look towards the windows from your spot, you see the first signs of daylight.
Miguel made it to another day.
You turn back to Miguel. He’s still sleeping with his head resting against soft pillows. The sight of Miguel in a hospital gown feels so wrong. It’s still strange to see him in anything other than his suit as you’ve only ever seen him in normal clothes three times: Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years Eve. As you watch over him, your eyes land on his arms. It seems that the grey hospital gown is a bit tight as the sleeves hug his large biceps but despite that, he looks relaxed with his arms at his sides, hands curled softly.
You observe his sleeping figure, eyes tracing his arms down to his large hands. Your eyes then flicker to his bare neck and part of his collarbone where you spot a small piece of gauze taped to his skin with medical tape. You wonder just how many of those he has on his torso on top of the large wounds. You sigh deeply as you continue to watch over Miguel, wishing that this hadn’t happened.
You feel a shiver run through your body, feeling slightly cold when the AC turns on. You look at the end of the bed and find a folded blanket. You get up and grab it, laying it over Miguel’s body gently. You bring it up to his neck, making sure to cover his arms which you imagine might get cold. You stand over him, staring at him for a few seconds before you walk to the windows to stretch your legs.
You cross your arms across your chest. It’s still raining, and the sky is beginning to brighten though it remains grey and cloudy because of the weather. You spot more traffic now, too. The city is slowly waking up as you stare out for a few minutes. You turn back around and lean on the windows as you take a quick glance around the room for the first time. The appearance of the room was the last thing on your mind when you first came in and even now you just briefly scan the room. You notice it’s very spacious with a sitting area for visitors to the right of the room when you enter. Across from it, on the other side of the door, there’s a room, which you suspect is the bathroom. You turn to your right now, noticing a screen displayed on the wall, facing Miguel. A TV, you realize before your eyes return to Miguel.
Your eyes flicker to the sitting area for visitors for a moment, making you think of his family. He has none left, like you. You sigh softly, remembering thoughts you used to have before joining the Spider Society. There were many times when you went out on patrols and sat on rooftops, observing the streets below when your mind took you to a depressing place after Peter’s death.
You wondered many times what would happen the day you die. You have no family and you cut ties with friends from your universe. You quit your job, so you didn’t even have colleagues. No one would go look for you if something happened to you. No one would claim you as family.
It was scary and depressing to think of this and so you pushed it away and hoped each time that one day you’d have someone – anyone – in your life. Someone who could say something about you. You hoped that it wouldn’t be so lonely then, at least not the way it felt when you arrived home with cuts and bruises that you had to tend to by yourself after Peter’s death. No longer did you fall into Peter’s arms, who held you for a few seconds before he sat you down to clean and tend to your wounds, comforting you with his gentle voice and touch.
As you stare at Miguel and think about this and the fact that Miguel has no family either, you’re glad that Jess assigned you to do this, though you realize you would’ve requested to do it regardless. The idea of anyone waking up alone in a hospital room depresses you and that feeling only intensifies as you think of Miguel, the man that longed for a family so much he inserted himself in another universe to fulfill that dream when he had a chance.
Only to lose it.
You shake your head softly, still staring at him. You’ve never wished this much for someone to be happy like you’ve done towards Miguel. You hope one day he can move forward. That one day, life will treat this man better. This man that deserves so much more but who has lost so much.
“Gabi,” Miguel mutters softly.
You straighten up and walk over to him, standing by his side. Miguel is still sleeping but his brows are furrowed as he mutters Gabriella’s name again. You stand there, not knowing what to do. Your hands wish to reach for his to comfort him, but you’re still set on respecting his wish of no physical touch, so you settle with placing them near his hand instead.
“Gabi.”
Your eyebrows lower and knit together in sadness as you hear Miguel call for Gabriella again.
“Miguel,” you say softly, not sure it’ll even help. “It’s okay,” you whisper.
“Gabi,” Miguel mutters, moving his head slightly against the pillows.
You watch his face as a heavy feeling overwhelms your chest, wishing you could do more. Miguel grows restless, moving his head more. You notice that his hands also begin to move under the blanket you covered him in. It takes you a few seconds to see that the blanket seems stuck to his hands. You pull the blanket off him gently from your side to see his hand, finding his extended talons stuck to the fabric. You have no other choice but to pull the blanket off him gently, successfully freeing his talons. You look down at them for a second, seeing them for the first time outside of the suit before you return your gaze to Miguel’s face.
“Miguel,” you say. “It’s okay… It’s okay.”
Miguel continues to move restlessly, and you fear that he’ll hurt himself in the process, so you do the one thing you think of. You take his hand softly in your own and squeeze gently, whispering softly that everything is alright. You feel his hand move slightly in yours, causing you to feel one of his talons against your hand. You feel some pain even through your suit, but you push past it and continue to hold his hand, talking to him even though you’re sure he can’t hear you.
You watch helplessly as tears gently begin to roll down Miguel’s face as he continues to call for Gabi.
“Mija.”
You hold his hand in yours as he cries in his sleep, occasionally feeling his talons dig into your skin softly. You softly whisper reassuring words, hoping it will cease his crying as the sight devastates you to your core, but he grows restless, and the heart monitor begins to warn about his heart. You look up, noticing his heart rate is increasing rapidly. You rush to the door and yell for the doctor, full of worry.
Miguel stands in front of his penthouse’s windows, looking out. The sky is a light blue, and the sun is shining brightly, illuminating the entire place. His eyes take in the sight of distant skyscrapers below soft clouds in the sky. Cars fly in the distance. The city is busy as always. He stands there for what feels like minutes watching in silence before it’s broken.
“Hermano.”
Miguel turns around instantly at the sound of his brother’s voice. He finds him standing a few feet away from him.
“Gabrielito?” Miguel says softly, feeling shocked to see him after so long.
Gabriel gives him that smile. That cheeky smile that got him in trouble too many times.
“It’s been a long time, hermano,” Gabriel says before making his way to Miguel, who finds himself meeting Gabriel halfway.
The O’Hara brothers embrace each other in the older brother’s living room. Miguel holds his much smaller brother tightly, not quite believing that this is happening. Gabriel is here.
“It’s been a long time,” Miguel agrees, still hugging his younger brother.
The O’Hara brothers pull back and Miguel can’t help but smile at his younger brother as he takes in the sight of Gabriel’s face. He doesn’t seem older despite the years.
“Miguel – it’s so good to see you again, hermano,” Gabriel says laying a hand on Miguel’s bicep. “Look at you. You look well! Though, do I spot a grey hair from here?” Gabriel teases, making Miguel frown.
“Very funny, Gabriel.”
“You know I’m just playing but if you keep going like this, you’ll start seeing them,” Gabriel warns.
“If I keep going like this?” Miguel asks, his frown deepening.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about. Working all day and night. No sleep except for once a week or those random naps you take, which don’t help by the way. Your eating habits. It’s too much on your body, despite being a superhero.”
Miguel doesn’t respond. Gabriel’s face softens.
“Hermano, you can’t keep going like this. It’s painful to watch, you know. You deserve so much more from life, Mig.”
Miguel looks away. “Gabriel – you don’t know the things I’ve done.”
“I do know… and I’m not here to judge you. I could never but I’m worried about you. I’ve been for a long time. Miguel – you have so much life ahead of you. It’s painful to watch you do this to yourself. You deserve to be happy and not waste your life away working day and night because you think that’s all your life is meant for. It’s not. And I’m not the only one who agrees, by the way.”
Miguel turns his face back to Gabriel, raising an eyebrow with curiosity as his younger brother’s words sink in.
“There’s someone that wants to see you,” Gabriel says softly with a gentle smile before he nods behind Miguel.
Miguel turns around, not knowing what to expect but there they are. He finds his wife, who smiles brightly at him and Gabriella, in the arms of his variant, Gabriella’s biological father, standing there. Miguel freezes, feeling a rush of mixed emotions at the sight but it all fades away when Gabriella jumps out of the arms of her biological father and runs to him.
“Daddy! Daddy!”
Miguel feels his heart burst with happiness at the sight of her running to greet him. He drops to his knees and opens his arms wide just as Gabriella runs into him. He instantly wraps his arms around her, unable to believe that he’s holding her again. Gabriella wraps her arms around his neck, happy to see him.
“Mija,” Miguel mumbles as tears pool around his eyes, spilling almost immediately down his face as he holds Gabi close.
“Daddy, it’s okay. Please don’t cry. I’m okay,” Gabi says softly, trying to calm Miguel down but he’s unable to stop the tears and the gentle shaking of his chest as he holds his daughter once again.
“Mija,” he repeats, closing his eyes as he embraces his daughter.
“It’s okay, daddy. Please don’t cry. I hate to see you cry,” Gabi tells him, wrapping her arms tighter around his neck. “I hate seeing you unhappy. You should be happy. You deserve it.”
Miguel shakes his head softly. “Mija… you don’t understand.”
But Gabi pulls back gently, meeting her father’s eyes. “I do. I know everything – and it’s okay. You don’t need to be sorry,” she says gently, sounding much older than she looks.
Miguel’s teary eyes meet his daughter’s as the truth sinks in. Gabi knows. Miguel looks up at his variant, who stands nearby. Miguel clears his throat, feeling shame and guilt as he meets the other Miguel’s eyes. He returns his gaze to Gabi and gives her a hug before he stands up, holding her in his arms. He approaches the other Miguel, looming over him. He gives a quick glance to his wife, who nods at him, as if she knows that he needs to have this discussion first before talking to her.
Miguel looks down at his variant and gives him an apologetic look.
“Miguel – I’m so sorry for – everything,” Miguel begins softly. “I’m sorry for what I did.”
Miguel expects his variant to respond negatively. To tell him off about pretending to be the father of his daughter. For trying to live his life. For not telling the truth to Gabi. For everything else he did that he cannot bear to think about now, but his variant surprises him with a sad smile.
“I know why you did it. I understand it. And I’m not mad…” Miguel’s variant starts, meeting his eyes. “You did something for me that I’ll never be able to repay.”
Miguel furrows his eyebrows in confusion, not expecting this reaction from his variant. He feels Gabi hug him as his variant continues.
“Had you not done what you did – Gabi’s life would’ve been very different those months you spent with her. You know very well what would’ve happened,” his variant continues, alluding to the fact that Gabi turned into an orphan and would’ve been placed in an orphanage had Miguel not stepped in. “For that – I thank you deeply. And of course, for being her father,” he finishes softly, acknowledging that Miguel is Gabi’s father as well.
Miguel nods slowly, feeling tears again but Gabi swipes them away.
“It’s okay, daddy. You don’t need to cry anymore, right, papá?” Gabi asks, turning to face her biological father, who nods. “We’re all okay here.”
Miguel nods at Gabi, holding her in his arms before he turns to his variant. “Thank you,” he whispers and his variant nods, giving him that same sad smile.
Miguel continues to hold Gabi, feeling like a weight has been taken off his shoulders. For so long he has carried shame and guilt over what he did but his variant and Gabi were forgiving of his actions. “Thank you,” Miguel whispers again, as Gabi holds him tighter, reminding Miguel how it felt to hold his child. Soft tears run down his face even when he turns to his wife who has been watching, waiting.
“I..,” Miguel trails off, not knowing how to continue for he has thought about her and their relationship a lot in the last few months.
He feels a different kind of shame washing over him. The more time passed, the more Miguel realized how differently he wished things had been. He had fallen in love too fast, wanting to fulfill his dream of having a family and he felt like he dragged her into it. He felt like he rushed her into marriage, but his wife meets his eyes with tenderness and nods.
“Miguel…” she says with a sigh. “We both made that decision. You didn’t rush me into anything I didn’t want to, but we did rush into it, didn’t we?” she asks softly with a small smile, taking his hand in hers. “We both wanted a family so badly and perhaps – perhaps we both sensed it would end soon and that’s why we held on to it so badly.”
She holds his hand and squeezes it gently, reassuringly, as she steps closer.
“I love you. And I know you love me, too… but our love was different, wasn’t it?” she asks softly. “Perhaps we could’ve really fallen in love if we had the time…” she continues. “But we didn’t and that’s okay, Miguel. I don’t hold that against you. We both wanted it badly and made the decision, so please stop carrying this guilt, okay? Miguel, por favor, live your life. For our sake,” she says softly, pausing. “Don’t you think it hurts us to see you like this?” she asks, looking at the others. “It’s painful to watch you do this to yourself. You’re so full of life, wasting it all living like this when there’s so many people out there to meet and befriend… to love. You have amazing people by you, don’t be afraid to show them the wonderful man you are.”
Miguel nods softly though the idea alone seems strange. He feels Gabi shift in his arms slightly, looking behind him.
“I just – I don’t know how to do this again. Losing you, all of you, has been too much,” he admits.
“But you haven’t lost us, hermano,” Gabriel says coming from behind, giving him a side hug. Miguel turns to look down at his younger brother again. “We’re always with you. Even if you don’t believe it or sense us, we’re always there. In every mission. In every universe. Every day and sleepless night.”
“You’re just too busy sometimes to sense us, daddy but we watch over you,” Gabi adds with her toothy smile. “We’re with you always. We visit you all the time, which reminds me - I loved my pancakes and the toys you gave me. Papá and I played a match with the new soccer ball you left for me on Dia de los Muertos. Thank you for leaving my favorite candy, too.”
Miguel cries softly and holds Gabi tighter in his arms. “You…” he attempts but is unable to finish his thought about them visiting him that night.
“We’re always with you,” his wife confirms with a smile meeting his eyes but she, too, looks behind him for a second.
He feels Gabi shift again, looking behind him. “She’s calling you,” she says softly.
Miguel dries his face with the sleeves of his shirt. “Who?” he asks, confused.
“You know who,” Gabriel says with a small smile. “You know exactly who. Miguel – you have a long life ahead of you. Make it count,” he whispers. “Leave a legacy that’s far greater than your leadership. Far greater than your duty and work. Live life, hermano. I know it’s not easy and we don’t expect you to move forward overnight but try. Try for us in the beginning until you find it in you to do it for yourself. Just try,” Gabriel says softly.
Miguel nods with tears. “I’ll try, Gabrielito. I’ll try.”
Gabriel smiles. “It’s been great seeing you, Miguelito.”
“Don’t call me that,” Miguel says but he says it with a smile.
“For old time’s sake, hermano,”Gabriel says and wipes his own tears away. “It’s been really great seeing you, but you must return now.”
“Return?” Miguel asks confused, still holding Gabi in his arms.
“You’ve been away too long, daddy. You must go back now. It’ll be alright,” Gabi says with a smile.
Everyone turns to look behind Miguel. He doesn’t know what they keep looking at.
“I don’t want to leave…” Miguel says softly, holding Gabi closer.
“Miguel – you must. It’s not time yet. And she’s calling you,” his wife says.
“Who’s calling me?” he asks.
His wife smiles and shakes her head. “One of the brightest people I’ve ever met, and you don’t see it, do you?”
Miguel stares at his wife before he meets the other two adults’ gazes. He realizes it. He must go. He nods slowly and holds Gabi for a minute longer, closing his eyes. Gabi hugs him tighter.
“There’s nothing to forgive but I know you need to hear it, so I’ll say it. I forgive you…  You’ll always be my dad, no matter what,” she whispers, filling Miguel’s chest with ache and love all at once.
“Mija… Thank you,” Miguel breathes out gently.
He puts Gabi down, smiling down at her. He doesn’t understand it. She looks the same age she was when she passed away, but she sounds so much wiser. Like she knows more than he does. He pats her head softly before he meets his variant’s gaze.
“Thank you again…”
His variant nods, giving him a gentle smile.
Miguel’s eyes turn to his wife, who’s already looking at him. She nods softly.
“We’ll see you when it’s your time,” she says before she takes his hand again, giving it a soft squeeze before releasing it.
Finally, Miguel turns to Gabriel.
“It’ll be alright, hermano. We’ll see you when it’s time. And don’t forget we’re always with you,” he says as Gabi leans on him. Miguel watches his brother pick up Gabriella, holding her in his arms. “It’s time.”
Miguel nods before he gives his brother and Gabriella a hug, wrapping his long arms around them. He pulls his wife into it, too. He ends up offering his hand to his variant, inviting him into the hug. At the end of the day, they were linked. Forever.
His variant accepts his hand and gives him a nod, joining the moment.
They pull apart a few seconds later, giving Miguel space. He stares at them as they stand side by side, his brother still holding Gabi. They smile at him and give him reassuring nods. Miguel nods just as his variant walks closer to him, separating from the group as if to talk with him in private.
“Before you go… I want to tell you that I forgive you. I forgave you a long time ago, really. I thank you for being a father to Gabi, for treating her the way I would’ve and know that in her eyes and mine, you are a father to her. I also want to tell you… that you have a chance, Miguel. Take it,” his variant says softly. “Our lives have never been easy, and you know that, but one thing I learned when I was alive was that sometimes all you need is a small purpose to keep you going,” his variant says briefly looking back at Gabi. “And I don’t mean work, for we both know what that does to us. Find the true purpose. Keep going. Live life. Accept those that wish to be near you,” he says, laying a hand on Miguel’s shoulder. “You’re worthy of it, don’t forget that.”
Miguel nods. “Thank you, Miguel.”
His variant nods, giving him a smile before he returns to the group. Miguel watches them for a few seconds.
“Go on, daddy! You must return now,” Gabi says looking behind him.
“She’s still calling you,” Gabriel adds but Miguel still doesn’t know who is calling him.
Miguel turns around. He’s no longer met with the view of his large windows facing the city, instead all he sees is a warm light. He turns back around.
“I’ll see you again, right?” he asks, quietly.
His family nods.
“Of course, and we’ll be ready for that day when it comes, hermano but that day is not today. For now, just now we’re always with you,” Gabriel says. “And I don’t mean to rush you, but you should really get back now.”
Miguel nods once again and before he leaves, he walks the short distance and gives everyone a last hug, squeezing Gabi and Gabriel tighter. He returns to his spot and nods. It’s time. He waves goodbye before he turns around to face the light. He walks into it, seeing nothing but light and when he looks behind his shoulder, he sees his family wave goodbye one last time. Miguel’s heart aches as he walks away but there’s also a lightness that he hasn’t felt in a long time.
“It’s okay, Miguel,” you shakily whisper as Miguel mumbles something in his sleep.
You watch him with your tear-stained face after what happened. The last thirty minutes were overwhelming to say the least. You try to forget it for now but you’re unable to put away the worry and stress of what you witnessed. As Miguel mumbles in his sleep again, you release a shaky breath.
Miguel’s heartbeat gave up for a few minutes and all you could do was watch and call his name helplessly as the medical professionals resuscitated him. You stand by his side now, thankful but still on edge as Miguel moves his head slightly.
“It’s alright. Everything is alright,” you whisper as he moves.
You notice his eyebrows furrowing as he mumbles yet something else, but his words are incoherent. You watch as his eyes move under his eyelids before they begin to flutter as if he’s waking up. You hold your breath, as it slowly becomes apparent his eyes are opening. Miguel looks around the hospital room slowly as if trying to figure out where he’s at before they fall on you.
“Y/N…” he whispers softly.
Thank you for reading! I hope you guys enjoyed this part despite the angst. The next part will contain more fluff, promise 🥹 can we just talk about reader giving Miguel her gizmo??? 😭 I don't know why but that made me so sad and that probably sounds stupid since I wrote it but anyway... I still love Miguel ❤️
adult!Van x fem!reader (smut)
working for Van had just been a temporary thing, but it lead to an intense crush, a painful goodbye, and the inability to move on. a few months later, you run into her at night. she didn’t forget about you either.
minors dni. warnings: slight intoxication, oral, fingering
(disclaimer: kind of long, I just felt like doing something a little more elaborate and fleshed out, hope u enjoy💌)
it had been about four months since you´d last seen Van, but it felt like an eternity. you had worked for her during the summer, just a temporary job to help her out during the busier season, but by the end of August when you had to say goodbye it hurt much worse than you ever expected; the night after your last shift you cried on your way home, unsure how to cope with letting go of her, how to move on from what she´d made you feel.
you two got along immediately, from the very first day you worked for her it was easy and light and lovely, but that connection turned into something deeper very quickly, about two weeks in you realized how screwed you were, how attracted to her you were, how much you missed her during weekends, how she made you forget about all the things going wrong in your life. but you couldn´t do anything about it before it was already fall and you were forced to move on from that brief period of knowing her.
it was a winter night, you´d gone out to a bar with friends, who had just left in an Uber because it had gotten late and they didn´t live around the corner, unlike you. you were just about to leave as well, when you walked by someone and did a double take to see if it was really her, but it was. there she was: Van, leaning against the wall, looking at her phone, her hair glowing beautifully in the light of the neon sign. you´d had a few drinks, so it was easy to just walk up to her and tap her on the shoulder, watching her face break into that familiar smile once she turned to look at you, "oh my god?? hi!" she seemed genuinely glad to see you, offering a tight hug immediately, which made your body heat up, that effect she had on you, bubbling right back up.
she realized you were pretty tipsy, it was endearing to her, seeing you with your guard down like that, all smiley, face glowing, "what are you doing here?" you asked her, which made her laugh, "believe it or not, i do have a few friends", "no, of course, i know, i was just wondering.. maybe you were on a date or something" grinning at her as you said this, she cocked her head, fixing you with a gaze that gave away how charmed she still was by you, "no, i wasn´t on a date. were you?" she asked, teasing a little. you shook your head, "friends. they just left, they took a car, i´ll walk", she raised her eyebrows "what, all on your own? like that?" gesturing towards you "like what?", "drunk, at risk of stumbling into traffic or something" she joked, you nudged her, "shut up, i am not that drunk" she smiled, leaning closer, "listen, how about i walk you home? you live around here, right?" you were surprised by the offer but really happy about it, any time you could spend with her was an unexpected gift, "okay, yes, you can tell me what you´ve been up to" you said in a playful tone, she pushed you towards the door, shaking her head "nice try, i am not spilling any secrets, you have more exciting stories to tell anyway, I bet".
the walk to your place was only about ten minutes, just enough time to link arms with her, under the guise of steading yourself. each passing second you felt giddier and more excited about unexpectedly being close to her again, after having pushed down all the unresolved feelings for her. you didn´t know this but she was going through the same exact thing, feeling that old pull towards you, that intense, almost obsessive affection, that had haunted her since you´d stepped out of her store for the last time.
once you stood at the front door of your house, you both looked at each other, a moment of silence, you couldn´t bear letting go of her so quickly, so you tried to sound casual asking "hey, you know what? i saw your apartment like a hundred times when i worked for you, now that you´re already here, i could show you my room in return?" you somehow succeeded in not making it sound suggestive, she was not registering it as a move on her, not really. she hesitated for a second, knowing it wasn´t a good idea at all, seeing your space, because it would only deepen the ache of not truly being part of your life, but she just couldn´t leave you, so she nodded, "yes, sure, it´s not like i have anywhere else to be", also trying to make it sound casual, when it felt anything but that.
the apartment was dark, you lead her to your room, explaining that your roommates were gone, walking over to you nightstand to grab a lighter, quickly lighting a few candles, telling Van to come in make herself comfortable, she was smiling to herself watching you, because it looked like you were setting the mood, but she could tell you did that every night. once you were done and looked at her taking in the details of your room, you realized how intimate it was, to have her see all of it up close, but she was very complimentary "this is such a nice space, it suits you", you blushed a little, "thanks. you don´t have to stand there by the way, come, sit" still a little bolder than usual from the drinks in your system, sitting down on your bed, patting the space next to you, before laying down flat on your back, legs dangling off the edge. she joined you, realizing that sitting upright would look awkward, so she laid back too, enjoying the softness of the sheets "god this is nice" she sighed, closing her eyes for a second.you two laid there like that for a moment, you could feel her body heat, it was a lot, suddenly having her there, in your bed, where you´d dreamed of her many times.
you didn´t face her yet, instead staring at the ceiling while saying "i missed you, you know", confessing it. she turned her head, studying your side profile, smiling, surprised "you had my number, why didn´t you text me?", "what would i have said?", she laughed, "jesus i don´t know, have you ever heard of small talk? it usually goes something like: hi, how are you?", you turned to look at her then, her face barely inches from yours, pretty as always, your heart beating faster, "very funny, you know what i mean, it would´ve been odd, just out of nowhere" she nodded, "sure, i get it. i missed you too but never reached out either so.." that got you, "you did??" you asked, making sure she was being serious, she looked confused "of course, why wouldn´t I?" you thought about it, "i don´t know. i guess i never considered i was important to you like that" she shook her head "oh come on, of course you knew that i cared about you, it was pretty obvious" you saw her hand resting on her chest and put yours on top of it, your fingers between hers, feeling her react,"I guess I did know in a way, you were always so sweet to me. i was pretty fucking devastated when our time was over. it´s kind of pathetic but i actually cried on that last day" you admitted, squeezing her hand, she was stunned, waiting for you to face her again, which you did, your eyes full of unexpressed love all of a sudden, hers barely containing how hard that image of you in tears over her hit her, her hand moving away from under yours to caress your face.
"i had no idea. i wish you´d have told me, we could´ve stayed in touch, i could´ve been there for you" your breath was uneven now, feeling her hand on your cheek, looking at her with pleading eyes, whispering, "Van, you don´t know how much i missed you these past few months. that time we spent together, I was going through a lot but you were so good to me, you were the only thing making me happy. letting go of you was horrible", you were almost choked up, she could have cried then, it was more than she ever imagined possible, your feelings for her being so intense, her voice low and quiet then,"I don´t act like that with just anyone, please know that. it was special, you made me feel alive again. i still think about you all the time".
you were overcome with everything you´d felt for her for so long, instinctively closing any distance that was left between your bodies, your face close enough to hers to feel her hot breath on your lips, her hand wandering to your waist, watching your lips part in anticipation, finally giving in, finally; she leaned in to kiss you.
gently at first, but it took only a second for you to press yourself against her as hard as possible, trying to deepen the kiss, mouth open, your hand grabbing her face, hips moving against hers, fingers tangled in her long hair, kissing her back, sloppier by the second, an urgency to both of your movements, her hands firm and strong on your body, laying there, making out in a way that looked like you were trying to devour each other. you pulled away after a while, staring at each other out of breath, a smile on her face, watching your expression give away how deeply turned on you were, "please..." a whisper from you, begging her to do more, her hand under your shirt then, grabbing your chest, eliciting a gasp, leaning in to kiss your neck, hearing you moan, she could feel your growing desperation, your hands moving to your pants to get them off, so she helped, moving down to your legs, tearing the clothing off while you pulled your shirt up and tossed it aside too, she did the same, pulling off everything but her underwear, "you´re so fucking beautiful" she marveled, grabbing your thighs, feeling the soft skin, taking in the sight of your exposed body, you doing the same to her, she kissed your knee, "i´m dying to taste you" you nodded eagerly, "please, yes" moving your legs apart, giving her access, watching her pull off your underwear, immediately kissing your inner thigh all the way up, seeing you lean back and close your eyes, a "fuck" escaping your lips, she reached for both of your hands to help you hold onto something, feeling you fingers tightening around her own.
the second she ran her tongue over your cunt she moaned louder than you did, finally doing what she´d imagined many times before, those hot days when you sat next to her in shorts, your body almost completely visible, finally hers, so she took her time, slow deep movements up and down the extreme wetness, getting aroused from the taste, the feeling of it coating her lips, before adding some force to it, entering deeper into you, faster movements, hearing you cry out, basically crushing her hands then form how hard you were gripping them, she stopped at your clit, switching between sucking and licking, feeling you move your hips upwards to add to the pressure, she let go of your hands, holding you in place by your thighs, she could tell your body was aching for more, so eventually she moved her hand to where her mouth was still on you.
you were a mess by then, you could feel her fingers running over your throbbing core but before she could continue you pleaded, "please, come here, i want to look at you", she smiled, turned on by your demand, climbing up to hover over you, her chin glistening in the dim light, her lips a little swollen, the tips of her hair brushing your skin, looking down at you, staring into your eyes, her gaze giving away that she was taken over completely by her hunger for you.
she moved her hand back to where it was before, teasing for a second, savoring how warm and absolutely soaked you were, watching you struggle to keep your eyes fixed on her, your mouth open; the feeling of being pinned beneath her, the sight of her being possessive, the sensation of her fingers, it was all driving you fucking insane. "please Van..." you begged, she complied, two of her fingers pushing into you, slowly at first, taking in every little reaction of your body, the sounds you were making different then, more whining than moaning, "this okay?" she made sure, applying some pressure, finding the rhythm that would make you unravel, listening for cues, "god yes" you sighed, "you feel so fucking good", she was encouraged by that, fucking you not the way she´d fuck a hookup but with more feeling, more intensity, telling you how pretty you looked, how perfect, meaning all of it, your hands grabbing her shoulders for support, she was hitting the right spot, your legs were trembling more each passing moment, she could feel you come undone under her, both of your bodies hot all over from being skin to skin,"you´re close, hm?" she cooed, watching you nod, unable to form a word, "show me, sweetie, let me see you cum" her fingers more forceful then, adding the final bit of pressure you needed to be pushed over the edge, her unflinching gaze forcing you into that vulnerable state of being witnessed up close, at your most open, most uninhibited.
Van could feel and see a violent shudder go through your whole body, but she didn´t stop just yet, too enthralled by your sounds and movements, her fingers lingering on your clit, not letting up until you were truly finished, your chest slowly rising and falling in a steadier rhythm again. the second you regained some of your strength you pulled her in for a deep kiss, before pushing her over to the empty space next to you, so you could straddle her, your hands resting on her freckled chest, her fingers wrapping around your wrists, smiling up at you, a sweet moment of looking at each other out of breath, enthralled and still high on endorphins.
breaking the silence, you asked her "so, what side of the bed do you like to sleep on?" she grinned, her eyes lowered,"is that your subtle way of asking me to stay over?" you just looked at her as she shook her head, laughing to herself, "funny, how you think you need to talk me into these things, because there´s hardly anything i would say no to, ever, if it´s you who´s asking" you smiled then, feeling her thumbs move over your skin in a soothing motion, "careful, you´ll regret saying that, you´ll get so sick of me, just wait" she grinned, shaking her head, "never, never in my life", a satisfied look on your exhausted but happy face.
she pulled you down to have you lay on her chest, her fingers running through your hair, feeling you relax into it, "my sweet girl" she whispered, placing a tender kiss on your head, breathing in the scent of your shampoo. both of you were glowing with love, feeling it all over, radiating off your bodies; how glad you were to have each other back.
Flower Girls
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word Count: 650
Includes: flufffff, Spencer and you renew your vows, and your daughters Daisy and Violet are the flower girls!! (@radiant-reid i wrote it!)
"Mama do I get to hold the flowers?!" It was Daisy your six year old daughter chasing around your equally excited younger daughter Violet who'd just turned four.
"Yes honey and Violet's going to help you!"
It was almost time to get them changed into their dresses, and you were happy to find they were just as excited to relive the wonderful time that was wedding day as you were.
You and Spencer had decided to renew your vows for your ten year anniversary, especially since Daisy had made it clear how unfair she thought it was she wasn't alive to see the first one.
As you check your phone you find its already 10am and you had spent too long watching the girls run around the yard.
"Daisy, Violet! Come on, we gotta go get you two dressed!"
They both chase after you like you had promised ice cream, squealing.
"I get the pink one right mommy?" Violet's still developing her idiolect and pronounciation and you smile at how her voice swoops and cuts oddly as you enter your bedroom.
"Wait a minute I thought I got the pink one mama! what am I supposed to wear now?"
Daisy has discovered attitude which you blame completely on Spencer as he was the one to cause a scene when you took the last cookie from the tin a few weeks ago.
"Baby, you both got matching pink dresses remember?" You try to console her as she puckers her lips and scrunches her cute little eyebrows, looking remarkably like her father.
It isn't until you take out the dress in front of them that she begins to giggle.
In an hour you've dressed them both and have done their hair into little buns at the top of their heads per their request.
You're done as well, all that was left to do was meet at the beach, you and Spencer had considered a more formal option but seeing as it would've cost a fortune and time you don't have to plan it all you'd gone with the simpler choice.
You'd be meeting at the beach he proposed to you on and renewing your vows over a flower arch with only your closest friends and family, then you'd all eat dinner (you'd reserved a part of the resturaunt) at the place you and Spencer had gone to after he proposed.
It was simple, and it was perfect.
You were getting in the car with your girls when Daisy gasped.
"Mama" just like her father that one, "Where are the flowers!?"
You tried hard not to laugh at her expression as you backed out of the drive way, but it really was hard not to.
"Don't worry petal we're going to give you and Violet the flowers when we get there."
And you did, or at least Spencer did.
Once you got to the beach you all saw him standing and greeting the guests. Once Daisy and Violet did too they ran to him hugging his legs before he could catch them and toppling him over successfully.
And when they finally walk down that isle as the sun begins to paint the sky a beautiful gradient of pinks, oranges and blues he thinks about how lucky he is to have not only you the love of his life but also the two beautiful smart and talented daughters you both created.
Daisy and Violet hold two wicker baskets, throwing Daisy and Violet petals which you'd agreed had to be done.
You keep your eyes on them as they grin from their seats next to their auntie Penelope.
And when you both recite the loving vows you said exactly 10 years ago you also find that both you and Spence edit it slightly to include the wonderful human beings you brought into the world.
To which they of course squeal and cheer at until the ceremony is over.
---------------------------------------
Chapter 10
I’m late.
The thought jolted you awake. It was still dark as you reached for your phone to check the time, knocking over the bottle of Tylenol in the process. After confirming that you still had ten minutes until your alarm went off, you collapsed onto the pillows. The room spun behind your closed eyes as you removed the now-dry washcloth from your forehead and pressed a palm against your temple.
A low-grade headache had been plaguing you for the last few days, stubbornly not moving toward a migraine, so you couldn’t justify using your meds. As it was, you still had some nausea and had gotten sick at work the last two days. Thankfully, Jake was on mids - working from 4:00 PM until midnight since he was helping the Strike Fighter Weapons School Pacific with dog fight training  - and hadn’t been on base to make you go home. Your team was reviewing contract bids for a new plane towing machine and needed all hands on deck. You just had to make it through today and tomorrow, and then you’d have a long weekend to relax. Jake could go to the 4th of July party that Phoenix was hosting - you would sleep.
When the world righted itself, you slowly sat up and breathed through a wave of nausea. The pills rattled as you shook out two tablets from the bottle and swallowed them with a sip of water, glancing at Jake sleeping beside you. For the first few nights he’d been on mids, you’d fallen asleep on the couch waiting for him to come home. With his schedule, you passed one another in the house without having actual time together. A few hours of uncomfortable dozing was worth the minutes you talked until he sent you to bed and watched TV to wind down for a couple of hours before passing out. Since your headache started, you’d gone to bed right after work. Other than exchanging texts, you hadn’t had a chance to really talk to him all week.
Slipping out of bed, you took your phone and headed towards the bathroom, turning off your alarm. You waited until the door was closed to flick on the light, not wanting to wake Jake up. Bracing your elbows on your knees while peeing, you hung your head and breathed through your nose and out your mouth, wishing that you’d taken the time to run back to your apartment to get your nausea meds after work yesterday, but you’d been so exhausted.
The shower warmed as you brushed your teeth and tried not to gag. Deciding that you couldn’t handle the noisy blow dryer this morning, you tied back your hair and stepped under the hot water. Tilting your head back, you exhaled deeply as your muscles relaxed, keeping one hand on the wall when the heat made you lightheaded.
The bed was empty when you crept out of the bathroom dressed for work, and you heard the gurgling of the coffee pot. Following the noise, you found Jake leaning against the counter, ankles crossed while scrolling on his phone, boxers slung low on his hips. His eyes were red with exhaustion when they lifted to meet yours, a sleepy smile crossing his lips as he set the phone down. “Mornin’,” he rasped.
“I didn’t wake you, did I?”
“No,” he lied, opening his arms as you drew close. You pressed your cheek to his sleep-warm chest, sinking into his comforting embrace. “You feelin’ any better?” His accent always came out more when he was tired.
“Not really,” you shrugged. His hand swept the length of your back as he kissed the top of your head.
“You know, I learned something pretty interestin’ last night.” When you hummed, he chuckled. “Apparently, orgasms help with headaches.”
“I know.”
“You know?” he asked, pulling away to meet your gaze. “And you didn’t say anything?”
“It’s not exactly the first thing I think of when my head hurts. Besides, I have two perfectly good hands.”
“Your boyfriend also has two perfectly good hands. And a mouth. And a dick.”
“And a work schedule that isn’t exactly conducive to a sex life.”
“Darlin’, I’d happily give up an hour of sleep to help you feel better.”
“How generous of you,” you chuckled. He pressed his lips to your forehead before kissing you.
“You’re going to the doctor if you don’t feel better tomorrow.”
“It’s just a headache.”
“They shouldn’t last a week.”
“Whatever, Dad,” you huffed. Jake lightly swatted your ass, a teasing smile lifting the corner of his mouth.
“Careful, baby - I might just start likin’ you calling me Daddy.” He kissed you again, lips a soft counterpoint to his rough stubble, before guiding your head back onto his shoulder. “Take the day off.”
“I can’t. We’re almost done with the first run through the bids.” When a wave of nausea hit, you turned to press your forehead to his collarbone, fingers digging into his back as you breathed through it.
“Darlin’.”
“I’m fine,” you said once it passed. Smiling weakly, you pulled away. “You should go back to bed.”
“Any chance you can join me? For medical reasons,” he added, brushing the hair from your face.
“I’m gonna be late.”
“Fine. But I’m serious - you’re going to the doctor tomorrow.”
“Yes, Daddy.” Groaning, his head fell back against the cabinets as you stepped out of his arms and got your coffee ready.
The morning passed in a blur of documents as the team sat in the conference room. Cruz had picked up a box of donuts, and you’d nibble on a plain one while sipping your coffee. During a bathroom break, you’d grabbed another sports drink from the hanger break room, tossed two dollars into the jar, and added the ninth tally mark by your name. But as it got closer to lunchtime, half of the donut sat heavily in your stomach, and most of the coffee sat in front of you.
“I’m heading to the food court if you want to join,” Cruz offered, pushing away from the conference table.
“I’m in,” Woolsey agreed, as did Armitage and Gale.
“I’m good,” you said. Lunch didn’t sound appealing, but a power nap in the car did. Once you’d tossed the donut and grabbed your thermos, you headed to your office to grab your keys. When you bent to retrieve your purse from the desk drawer, another wave of nausea hit. Groaning, you sat in your chair, dropping your head into your hands. Sweat dotted your brow as your ears started to ring.
You stared, trying to figure out where you were and why you were looking at the ceiling tiles. Turning your head, you saw the bottom of a desk and realized you were on the office floor. Your ears rang louder, and you widened your eyes as the room spun. Your hand shook when you held it in front of your face. From the corner of your eye, you saw feet approaching and looked up to see Armitage’s shocked face. Her mouth moved, and you frowned. She crouched and pushed against your shoulder when you tried to sit up. “What happened?” you asked, sinking back onto the floor.
“Jesus Christ, are you alright?”
“I…I think I fainted.”
“Shit.” She turned to look out the office door but whipped around when you gagged. Pushing onto your elbow, you reached for the trashcan and vomited. “Damn it. Are you okay?” Draping your arm over the rim of the trashcan and resting your head on your forearm, you breathed through your mouth, trying to keep from fainting again. “You’re bleeding.”
“What?” She was right. Your left foot had a deep scratch, and blood was dripping into your shoe - you’d caught it on your desk drawer. “Fuck.”
“You need to go to the hospital. I can drive you.”
“No, I’m fine. I… I can go myself.”
“You can’t drive.” You groaned, knowing that she was right. But the idea of having your coworker take you to a hospital - and it would have to be off base - was too humiliating. You knew what you had to do. Armitage helped you into your chair, which had rolled across your office and hit the wall, before grabbing your phone.
“Hey, darlin’. You on lunch?”
“Can you come to get me?”
The Navy spent a lot of money training their pilots to be calm under pressure, which was the only way Hangman was able to drive to the Bounty Hunter hanger, and then across town to a civilian hospital. After escorting you into the ER and getting you settled into a chair with the paperwork, he parked the truck and hurried back inside.
Other than when you stepped into the restroom, Jake never left you, keeping his arm draped over your shoulders. Tucked against his side, you kept your eyes closed as you told him what happened, his lips grazing your temple. Thankfully, your foot stopped bleeding as you waited the hour to go back to an exam room. You could tell he wasn’t happy they sent a medical student to take your history. Jake stood to the side, arms crossed and eyes following every movement.
“Your paperwork says you’ve had a headache for a few days. Is that common?”
“No. I have migraines, but they’re usually gone in a day or two.”
“Any stressors?”
“Other than work, not really.” He nodded again.
“Do you know what usually triggers your migraines?”
“Stress or my period.”
“Is your menstrual cycle normal?”
“Pretty much,” you shrugged.
“And you said your last period was about a month ago?” You nodded. “The paperwork says that you were sitting before you fell. Were you sitting for a long time?”
“Kind of. But I’d walked to my office.”
“When you fainted, did you hit your head?” You nodded. “Did you vomit afterward?” Nod. “Do you know how long you were unconscious?”
“No.”
“Okay.” He left after cleaning and bandaging your foot, and a few minutes later, you had your blood drawn and was hooked up for an EKG. Jake stepped out to call his CO and tell him he wouldn’t be at work that night, then slid his hand into yours as you closed your eyes and tried to stay calm. When the tests were done, you curled up on the bed and dozed with your head on his shoulder.
Around 3:00 PM, the doctor finally came into the room with the med student and shook both of your hands before settling on the stool and tapping on her tablet. “So your labs look good. You’re a little dehydrated, but I’m not seeing any issues with your heart. I did want to ask a couple of follow-up questions. Have you had any sharp pain recently in your stomach, pelvis, or shoulder?”
“No,” you frowned.
“The lightheadedness - has it been consistent or just the one time?”
“I’ve felt a little light-headed off and on, but it goes away in a minute or so.”
“Any irregular bleeding?” You shook your head. “Great. So it looks as though you experienced vasovagal syncope, which is when your blood pressure has a sudden drop. You mentioned that your periods trigger your headaches, and hormone fluctuations can trigger one.”
“So she’s okay?” Jake asked, squeezing your hand. The doctor smiled at him.
“Yes, she’s okay. I wanted to discuss some of the symptoms you were experiencing before the syncope. You mentioned being nauseous - was that just before the syncope?”
“No, it’s been a couple of days.”
“Have you vomited?” Nod. “Have you been keeping food down?”
“Not really. I’ve mostly been eating crackers the last couple of days.” You pointedly ignored the look Jake gave you.
“Have you been more fatigued recently?” Brow furrowed, you nodded again. “How about any other physical symptoms?”
“Like?”
“Any tenderness in your breasts?”
“No.”
“Yes,” Jake answered, clearly thinking about how he’d brushed your nipples in the shower over the weekend and you’d threatened to punch him in the throat. You blushed. The med student snorted. The doctor met your gaze, the corners of her mouth twitching.
“The labs show that your HCG levels are elevated, which probably triggered the vasovagal syncope.” Her eyes darted between you and Jake before she added, “HCG is what we look for to confirm a pregnancy.”
The word echoed through the exam room. You froze, feeling Jake’s hand flex around yours. “P-pregnancy?” you stuttered.
“Yes,” the doctor looked between your stunned faces. “I would recommend setting up an appointment with your OB in the next couple of days to see how far along you are and to monitor your morning sickness. Right now, it’s unclear if your nausea is because of your headache or hyperemesis gravidarum, which is severe morning sickness. I’m a bit concerned about you being dehydrated, so make sure you’re taking in as much fluid as possible - water, sports drinks, soup, popsicles, whatever you can keep down. For food, go with the BRAT diet - bread, rice, applesauce, and toast. And I want you to try and eat a couple of small meals throughout the day. You want high carbs and protein with low fat.”
“I’m going to write you a prescription for something to help with the nausea. For the headache, again, hydrate and eat. You can take acetaminophen as needed. I want you to return to the ED or urgent care if you still can’t keep anything down, if you faint again, or if you feel any pain in your abdomen or shoulder. And make sure that you take your time when standing up - your blood volume increases during pregnancy, and your pressure can drop. Compression socks can help. Do you have any questions?”
“I’m pregnant?”
Her smile was soft when she nodded, “You’re pregnant.”
“Darlin’, you awake?” Jake asked, glancing at you from the driver’s seat. Your seat was tilted back, eyes closed behind sunglasses against the setting sun. It would be so easy to pretend you were sleeping, but you held out your hand and felt his palm slide against yours before the soft brush of his lips against your knuckles. “You feeling okay?”
“My head still hurts, I’m nauseous and exhausted, but other than that, I’m okay.”
“Why didn’t you tell me it was that bad?”
“It hasn’t been - this isn’t the first time I’ve had a headache last this long. I’ve only been dizzy a couple of times.”
“That’s a couple of times too many.” When you tried to pull your hand away, he tightened his grip. “I’m gonna get you settled at home, then go to the store and pick up some stuff. You need to eat.” The thought of food turned your stomach, and you rolled your lips together, focusing on your breathing. He momentarily let go of your hand, and the air conditioner blasted, the cool air hitting your flushed skin. “Tell me if I need to pull over.”
Thankfully, you made it back to the house. When Jake stopped to let the garage open, you threw open the door and rushed inside as he parked, barely making it to the guest bathroom to vomit bile. A minute later, he set a glass on the counter, pulled your hair away from your face, and rubbed soothing circles on your back. “I thought morning sickness was only in the morning,” you groaned.
“Well, you’re an overachiever.” You let out a watery chuckle, sitting back on your heels and blowing your nose. He handed you the glass of water before leaning against the doorframe. Your hand shook when he pulled you to your feet, and his lips pressed into a thin line. As soon as you rinsed your mouth and washed the tears from your face, he lifted you off your feet and carried you into the bedroom. He left after setting you on the bed and telling you to get comfortable.
Sighing, you stripped off your shirt and slacks and pulled one of his t-shirts from the dresser before retreating to the bathroom to brush your teeth and remove your makeup. He returned as you slipped under the covers, handing you an ice pack and setting one of his sports drinks on your bedside table. Carefully, he sat beside you, planting a hand on the bed by your hip as you placed the ice pack on the back of your neck. “You wanna talk about it?”
“Not right now,” you sighed, blinking back tears. “I think I’m still in shock.”
“You and me both, darlin’. So much for it just being a headache.” Jake’s smile was soft, contradicting the tension in his shoulders, as he leaned down to kiss your forehead. “I’m gonna go to the store. You want anything in particular?” When you shook your head, he left.
Once you heard the rumble of the garage close, you turned onto your side and hugged your pillow. You and Jake had talked about kids before but hadn’t had strong feelings either way. When picturing your future, you thought about vacations and career advancement. You could see a kid or two, but that wasn’t the first thing you thought of. It wasn’t like your friends who always identified being a parent as something they had to have in their future.
You’d decided to wait until after getting married to make the final decision. But it seemed like the universe was going to make you choose early.
The first tears fell as you slid your hand under Jake’s shirt and cradled your stomach.
Jake walked around the grocery store in a daze, tossing items into the cart.
Pregnant. You were pregnant. With his kid.
He'd been scared when you called him to say you needed to go to the hospital. Not only because you were hurt but because he couldn’t take you to the nearest hospital - the one on base - but had to go to a civilian one. He’d already been mentally crafting his argument to push up getting married when the doctor dropped the bombshell.
Pregnant.
That word terrified him. He’d never pictured himself as a dad, even when his ex tried to convince him to have a kid. Jake knew he wouldn’t be a good one, especially if they had a boy, not with how he’d been raised. He didn’t want a kid to grow up hating him for doing a shitty job.
But he couldn’t deny that his heart leapt when the doctor said you were having his child.
Something soft crushed under his shoe. Jake stopped and stepped back, lifting his foot to see a small elephant stuffed animal with a pacifier attached to its trunk. Slowly, he scooped it off the floor while looking around the aisle to see if someone had dropped it. He spotted a guy in NWU camo pushing a cart with a car seat, turning left in front of him. After grabbing a jar of applesauce, he followed, speeding along the aisles to catch sight of him again.
Of course, he caught up with him on the aisle with all the baby stuff. “Hey, excuse me. Is this yours?” The man tossed a package of diapers in the cart before looking at him, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh shit. Yeah, thanks, man,” he replied, closing the few steps to take it. “My wife would kill me if I came home without Wubbie - bedtime’s hard enough without his paci.” Jake fought the urge to raise an eyebrow but nodded.
“No problem.” He glanced at the car seat and saw that the baby was wearing the man’s service hat and felt his lips twitch into a smile. With a nod, he pushed the cart away, unable to stop looking at the shelves as he walked. There were so many different types of diapers and wipes. And it was all expensive. His steps faltered, and he grimaced when he saw a straw-looking thing for literally sucking boogers out of a baby’s nose.
“That thing is disgusting but a lifesaver,” the guy said, coming up behind Jake and seeing what he was looking at. He grabbed a bottle of baby lotion and tossed it into the cart. “You having your first kid?”
“Uh,” Jake said, “yeah, I guess I am. How’d you know?”
“You’ve got that freaked-out new dad look,” he chuckled, then glanced at Jake’s cart. “Plus, you’ve got a shit ton of stuff for morning sickness. My wife swore by these ginger candies they’ve got over in the pharmacy area.”
“Thanks, I’ll grab some.”
“Congrats, man. You’re in for a fun time. And thanks again for the pacifier.” Jake stood there for a long moment before heading to the pharmacy.
What he needed more than anything right now was to talk to someone and get his head on straight before going into the conversation with you. Having kids was supposed to be something you discussed in a couple of years, but not now. Not when he didn’t have time to really think about what it would mean to be a dad. His whole adult life had been focused on becoming the best naval aviator. Now that he’d accomplished that, he had time to breathe, enjoy being in a relationship, and get promoted to Lieutenant Commander. A baby would complicate that.
Not that he didn’t like kids. Some other officers had them, and he liked them in theory. They were cute, and he knew any child the two of you made would be adorable. But they were a lot of work. And he didn't know how to be a father. His example growing up was everything that he didn’t want. Jake knew he could focus too much on his career and what he wanted to do, which was, unfortunately, similar to his dad. He could be mean and lose his temper when annoyed.
As much as he wanted to call Coyote and talk about how much he was freaking out, he couldn’t. His best friend would tell him what he wanted to hear, but Jake wasn’t sure what that was. He needed someone who would give him an honest opinion without considering his feelings.
And, thankfully, he had just the person for that.
The phone rang as he stopped in his driveway. Rather than reach for the remote to open the garage, he waited.
“Hangman.”
“Am I going to be a shitty father?” The words were out before he could stop them.
There was silence for a long moment before Rooster groaned. “Jesus, Hangman. At least tell me that you knocked up your girlfriend and not - ”
“I’m gonna stop you right there,” Jake snapped. “This was a dumb fuckin’ idea. Don’t tell anyone - ”
“Wait, wait. I’m sorry,” Rooster said quickly. “Don’t know why you didn’t call Coyote for this.”
“Because he’s gonna tell me what I wanna hear. I need to know what the truth is.”
“And I’m the guy to do that? The one in the squad who grew up without their dad and has Mav as a pseudo-parent?”
“The only thing you’ve never hesitated on is calling me on shit, Rooster.”
“You’re an asshole.”
“Exactly. So am I gonna be a shitty dad?” Jake pinched the bridge of his nose as the silence dragged on.
“You’re dangerous in the air, but when your team needs you, you’re there. You get the job done.”
He cleared his throat, “That almost sounds like a compliment.”
“It wasn’t.” Rooster sighed, “The fact that you’re worried about this means you’re not gonna be a shitty dad, Jake.” Hot tears sprang to his eyes as he let his head fall back, and he quickly brushed away the few that fell. After a long moment, Rooster cleared his throat. “So when’s she due?”
“No idea. Just found out a couple of hours ago.”
“Holy shit.”
“Yeah.” The silence stretched again. “Thanks for… that. And could you not tell anyone about this? We’re…”
“Yeah, no, of course. And…uh… congrats, man.”
“Thanks.” When the call disconnected, Jake folded his arms over the steering wheel and rested his head on his forearms. There was a tiny flicker of hope in his chest that he wouldn't be the worst father if one of his strongest critics believed in him. Hell, he was pretty sure all he needed to do was do the opposite of everything his own did. Sighing, he hit the garage opener and pulled the truck in before grabbing the bags from the backseat.
When he opened the door, he saw you standing in the kitchen, sipping a glass of water. You looked pale as the corners of your lips lifted in a tired smile. “Hi.”
“Hey, darlin’. Shouldn’t you be asleep?”
“I was, for a little while.”
“Were you sick again?”
“Almost. How about you? How are you doing?”
“I’m not the one who ended up in the hospital today,” he replied, setting the bags on the counter and starting to unpack them, his back to you. Sighing, you set the glass down and crossed the kitchen to wrap your arms around him, head resting between his shoulders.
“I’m sorry if I scared you.” `
“I’m just glad you’re okay.”
“Are you as freaked out as I am?” When he huffed, you moved to lean your back against the counter beside him. His eyes met yours. “I know we said we’d have the kid conversation in a couple of years, but what’s your gut telling you?”
Jake’s gaze drifted down your body to land on your stomach. His tongue darted out to wet his lips before answering. “I think we can do this.”
“I think we can, too,” you said. “But do we want to?”
“Do you?”
Your heart beat fast as you studied him, trying to figure out what his response would be. With a deep breath and tears stinging your eyes, you said, “I’m terrified but…kind of. You?”
Knowing that this moment would change everything, Jake swallowed hard and nodded.
Your gasp echoed in the kitchen as you clapped your hands to your mouth. A slow grin spread across his lips as he turned to face you, gently tugging your hands away to wipe the tears on your cheeks. “Darlin’, are we having a baby?”
“We’re having a baby,” you whispered.
Jake’s kiss was soft, interrupted by his laugh as he tugged you close. Your hands rested on his chest, feeling the quick thumping of his heart against your palm. “You know,” he said, “this means we’re gonna have to renegotiate the contract.”
“Let’s focus on one life-changing thing at a time, please,” you groaned.
“‘M gonna put a pretty little somethin’ right here a hell of a lot sooner,” he grinned, lifting your left hand and tapping your ring finger.
“I hope you’ve been saving up, then.”
“I can probably scrape something together.”
Little did you know that Jake had an engagement ring tucked into the back of his closet.
He’d called your parents to ask for their blessing to marry you on the ship coming home from the uranium mission.
Author's Note: The way I STRUGGLED with this chapter. Given the story synopsis, you know the ultimate decision, but a surprise pregnancy when you're in your 30s is a moment to pause and reflect on what you want. And with Jake's daddy issues, I think he would struggle with the idea of being a good parent. Hopefully Rooster was able to set him straight!
Two weeks passed by quietly, nights spent staying up late watching movies and anime together.
Feitan was still gone most of the day, but he’d come home for lunch to eat with (Name). He wanted to spend as much time with her as possible while still training his body and nen.
The last week of his stay, (Name) became a lot clingier, her hugs and touches increasing by the day.
Feitan would let her slide for the most part, but being touch sensitive, he’d toss her onto whatever soft surface available to get her away from him. He didn’t want to spend his last week with her locked away in his room with a boner.
(Name) was currently crouched in her garden, pulling out weeds and watering the vegetables. It was Thursday, only a few days away from Chrollo arriving.
Or so she thought.
“Hello, (Name).”
The girl was spooked, nearly falling onto her her plants, but thankfully she’s caught by the back of her shirt. “Woah there, careful dear. You’ve been tending to this garden so diligently, wouldn’t want to crush them, hmm?”
(Name) turned to see a man smiling down at her, wearing an obnoxiously large coat while (Name) sweater in her tshirt and shorts.
“Are you okay?”
The man blinked down at her. “Okay? What do you mean by that?”
“I mean you are very strangely dressed for the weather. Your chest is out and you’ve got a coat on. Would you like a glass of lemonade?”
He smiled, clearly amused. “That sounds lovely.”
(Name) lead the man by the hand inside, pouring him a cool glass of lemonade and making him a sandwich. “How did you get all the way out here? You know it’s not safe to wander in the country alone.”
She scolded him, setting a ham sandwich down on the table. He watched her with a patient smile, trying to hold back a laugh.
The girl was as kind as Uvogin had said. Not many people invited strangers into their house for snacks because they were dressed strangely.
“I can walk you into town after my friend gets home. If I leave without him he gets all grumpy. I think it’s because he’s protective, but he won’t admit it.”
She giggled to herself, munching on her own sandwich. Chrollo hummed in response, sending Feitan a quick text to say he’d arrived.
Chrollo took a sip of his lemonade, weirdly enjoying the soft atmosphere of her home. It felt homely, not a house but a home, somewhere people lived their lives instead of staying the night. (Name) reflected her home, her eyes bright and smile wide.
Having only spent a total of ten minutes in her presence, he was beginning to understand Feitan’s attraction to her.
The sound of someone running across the porch caught (Name)’s attention, Chrollo already knowing by their aura who it was.
“Feitan, you’re home e-“
“Boss.”
Feitan took a second to breathe before speaking. “Thought you were coming Monday.”
Chrollo shrugged, sipping on his lemonade. “I finished my job quicker than expected, so I decided to come early and… observe.”
(Name) tilted her head at the two, looking between them before dropping her sandwich.
“You’re… you’re Chrollo!!”
The man gave her a smile, leaning against the table.
“Guilty.”
Feitan groaned and flicked her forehead. “Why let him in without knowing? Stupid girl.”
(Name) whined, holding her forehead. “He looked like he was thirsty… and he’s like really handsome.”
She whispered the last part, but Chrollo heard. “Why, thank you.”
Feitan frowned at her words. “Handsome men kill too, dumdum.”
(Name) crossed her arms. “I’m mostly kidding. He just… didn’t have a malicious vibe, if you get what I’m saying.”
That peaked both of their interests.
“What you mean by that?” Feitan asked, leaning against the counter. She hummed.
“Well, when I meet someone new, they either have a good vibe or a bad vibe. I can almost feel when someone has malicious intent. I felt it when you saved me from that man that broke in.”
Feitan glanced at Chrollo, signaling that they would talk about this later. “I see, (Name). That’s quite interesting.”
Chrollo pushed his empty lemonade glass and plate to the side, (Name) quickly grabbing both and refilling his drink. What a considerate host!
“Do you need somewhere to stay while you’re in town? You can have my bed or the pull out cou-“
“He can have my bed.”
Feitan waved to his room, folding his arms over his chest. (Name) nodded. “Yeah, you can just sleep with me then!”
The shirt man’s face went red and Chrollo just smiled at him.
“Oh.”
That’s all Chrollo had to say, and somehow it was worse than being full on teased.
“Thank you for opening your house up to me, dear.”
——————
“So, your girlfriend seems like she’s close to awakening her nen.”
Feitan glanced at Chrollo from his seat on (Name)’s porch, scoffing. “Not my girlfriend.”
Chrollo rolled his eyes. “Uh huh. What do you think her nen would be?”
“Does it matter? She won’t be needing it.”
Chrollo hummed. “Humor me.”
Feitan sighed, watching (Name) swim along the river.
“… probably specialist. She’s unique. Not like anyone I’ve met before.”
“Really? Is that good or bad?”
Chrollo already knew the answer, just by the way a Feitan looked at her.
“… good. She’s a good girl.”
(Name) surfaced, yelling out to feitan.
“Feitannn! I saw a fish again!”
“Don’t have to tell me every time.”
She pouted. “I’m going to anyways!”
She dipped back under the waves, Feitan snickering at her words.
When (Name) had her fill of swimming, she walked onto the porch, her bathing suit dripping water. “Feitan, did you see where I put my towel?”
She scurried around the porch, bending over to see if it was under the table. Feitan glanced from her butt to chrollo, who was also looking. The shirt haired man stiffened.
“…”
Feitan ran inside and grabbed her a towel, quickly wrapping it around her. “Third time you forget.”
(Name) sighed, snuggling up under her towel and letting herself warm up under the sun. “Sorryyy!”
The girl dries herself off, then dropped her towel onto an empty seat. She pulled on her pair of shorts and stepped into her flip flops.
“Do you boys want to go blackberry picking with me?”
——————
(Name) let chrollo borrow one of her shirts, telling him it was way too hot to be wearing that big coat, and if he did just looking at him would make her pass out.
He walked out of her room wearing a black shirt with sailor moon on the chest, seemingly unbothered.
“Didn’t know you had black clothing.” Feitan said, carrying a basket in one hand and (Name)’s hand in the other. The path to the blackberry patch was covered in roots and potholes, (Name) having already tripped and scraped her knees twice.
If Chrollo weren’t there, he would have just carried her, but he had an image to keep up.
“Feitan, what’s your favorite color?”
“Black.”
“Ah, of course. Mine is-“
“Pink?”
“How did you guess!?”
Chrollo barely holds back a snicker. When he changed in her room, almost everything was pink, from her walls to the strawberry rug by her bed. Feitan shrugged his shoulders.
“Lucky guess.”
Although Feitan tried his best to act like holding her hand was a chore, when she’d trip, he’d hold onto her, his eyes soft as he steadied her. Chrollo watched this with great interest, his hands in his pockets.
Feitan wasn’t exactly the type to help someone, and he’d only ever held another persons hand when absolutely necessary.
“We’re here!”
The three look out upon a large bush of blackberries, spanning across the woodland. (Name) let’s go of Feitan’s hand to walk forward, humming as she checked the blackberries to make sure they were ripe enough to pick.
“Alright, let’s split up!”
Feitan takes a basket and walks off without another word, knowing the drill by now. Once he’s gone, (Name) loops her arm with Chrollo’s and pulls him away.
“I thought we were splitting up?”
He chuckles when you pout at him. “We will, I just need to talk with you first.”
“I see. Talk away.”
(Name) set her basket down and began picking berries. “Why don’t we play a game? I ask a question, you have to answer truthfully. Then you can do the same for me.”
This was perfect, Chrollo needed to question her anyways. “Sure, but if a question is too much I will not answer.”
“Fine with me. First, how do you and Feitan know each other?”
“We are childhood friends. My turn.”
He crouched down next to her and plucks a berry from her hand, throwing it into his mouth.
“What do you remember about your childhood in meteor city?”
(Name) doesn’t answer at first, and when Chrollo turns to look at her, his usual confident smirk falls from his lips.
She didn’t look angry or sad, she just looked… empty.
“I… was taken from the residential area when I was three years old. I don’t remember a lot, just a nice, but strict man in a… church I think? There were other children, but they were mostly older than me, so we never got to play with each other. There was this one girl though, who I remember.”
She placed another berry into her basket before smiling softly.
“Sarasa. That was her name. Her face is fuzzy, but I remember she had this fluffy purse and… Chrollo?”
The man was staring at her with wide eyes, his hand absentmindedly reaching out to grab her wrist. “Say that name again. Please.”
(Name) glanced down at his hand before answering. “Sarasa. Is the name familiar?”
His hand trembled slightly when he pulled it away, running his hands through his hair before he regained his composure.
“It is. So you knew her, huh?”
(Name) nodded, her smile brightening slightly. “Does that mean you do?”
He looked down, his smile faltering. “I did.”
The way he said that made (Name)’s stomach turn. She didn’t have to ask, she knew that something bad happened.
“When I was taken, they… they did a lot of things. Most of it has been blocked out, supposedly as coping mechanism. But the things I do remember…”
Her body began to tremble, her smile becoming a little less effortless.
“You don’t want to know, and I don’t want to talk about it.”
Chrollo watched her from the corner of his eye, his jaw tightening. He usually didn’t care about people outside of the spiders, but this was someone that had been close to Sarasa, someone that cared about her enough to be shedding tears for her.
“I see. Your turn to ask a question.”
She turned to look at him, wiping away her tears.
“Are you okay?”
Chrollo was taken back by her question, quickly shooting back at her. “Why do you ask?”
Her hand grasped his, the man looking at her hand quizzically, but not moving away.
“You seem… so tired. Emotionally, and physically. Wouldn’t you like to rest?”
This surprised him. “I…”
In so few words the girl had reached into his heart and pulled back the walls he had built up to keep prying eyes out.
Who was she? What kind of power did she possess to make the Head of the Phantom Troupe’s lip quiver like that of a child?
She didn’t say anything, just gave his hand another squeeze before letting go.
No tears fell, but for a moment he could feel them welling up in the corners of his eyes. Even in his movement of small weakness, Chrollo’s eyes remained dry.
“Last question.”
(Name) didn’t look at him, but gave a nod to show she heard him.
“Would you be interested in joining our band of thieves?”
She’s quick to answer, a smile pulling at her lips. “I don’t think I would make a very good thief. I’m slow, and my strength doesn’t compare to the others I’ve seen in your group.”
Chrollo laughed. “I see. Is that a no, or…”
“It’s a ‘not now’. Maybe when I’ve passed the Hunter Exam I’ll take you up on your offer, but for now I’ll stick to being a law abiding citizen.”
She winked, dropping another handful of berries into her basket. Chrollo watched her, taking in the moment. It was quiet besides the sound of birdsong, (Name) breaking the silence by picking up her basket and standing.
“Okay, now we split up.”
She handed him the basket she kept underneath hers and walked off in the opposite direction Feitan took.
“You hear all that, Feitan?”
The short man stopped using In to hide his presence, walking out from behind the thick brush.
“Yes… she and Sarasa…”
He had the smallest of smiles on his lips. Chrollo nodded. “Yeah. I’m going to do some research to see if her claims are true, but at least from what I could see she wasn’t lying. Of course, the truth will come out once she meets Pakunoda.”
Feitan leaned against a tree. “… so we meet her again?”
Chrollo raised an eyebrow. “Of course we will. She’s your woman, is she not?”
Feitan sighed. It was getting harder to deny the obvious truth.
“Not my woman but… mine.”
Chrollo shrugged. “Whatever. She’s yours, so make sure you take good care of her. If she’s telling the truth, she was close to Sarasa, so that makes her an honorary Spider.”
The two went their separate ways to pick blackberries to keep (Name) from getting suspicious. Feitan crouched down, thinking back to the first time he’d met her, before he really knew her.
He cursed his stupid past self, spitting on the ground in annoyance. Feitan had hurt such a sweet girl, and he didn’t think he’d ever be able to truly forgive himself.
Even if she did.
——————
“Wow, that’s um… that’s a lot.”
The three gathered at (Name)’s house, the two having come back and forth when their baskets got full.
“You two were supposed to just fill a single basket, not several.”
She looked over her counter to see it covered in baskets and bowls of blackberries.
“Got more so you sell them.” Feitan replied, popping one into his mouth.
She giggled, pulling the basket he’d been snacking on away. “Don’t eat too many, you’ll get a tummy ache.”
He rolled his eyes, but he was smiling again. Chrollo didn’t know the last time he’d seen Feitan this relaxed, if ever at all.
“I’ll go and wash some fresh sheets for you. Feitan?”
He looked up.
“You’ve got a little…”
She swiped his cheek with her finger and stuck it in her mouth. “Black berry juice on your cheek.”
Feitan stared at her with his mouth parted slightly, unable to speak.
Chrollo pretended he wasn’t paying attention, his nose buried in a book, but he’d caught Feitan’s face flush. He smirked from behind his book.
————————
The next few days passed quickly, the day for Feitan’s departure finally arriving. (Name) woke up early to make a big breakfast and prepare lunches for the two to take with them.
She’d promised chrollo as much jelly, jam, and syrup as he could carry, which according to Feitan was a lot.
She and Feitan had been sharing a bed again, the man following her to the kitchen to watch her cook.
He’d been clinging to her side all morning, holding onto the sleeve of her shirt as she walked around and gathered ingredients. She found it cute, so she didn’t say anything.
“Feitan, I’m going to miss you.”
He gripped the sleeve of her shirt tighter, not able to meet her eyes.
“Miss you too.”
Her eyes widen slightly. For Feitan, that was basically telling her that she was someone he cared about.
“Aww, Fei!”
She pulled him into a hug, peppering kisses on his cheeks. He didn’t pull back, but he did stiffen and grip her shoulders. Taking her affection was getting easier, but it would always make his heart race and his palms sweaty.
“Used nickname.”
(Name) hadn’t even noticed. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t even ask-“
“It’s okay. You can use it.”
His eyes were soft, cupping her cheek as he stared at her lips.
Feitan wanted to kiss her right now, to have a memory of her lips on his before he was gone for god knows how long.
“Um, should I leave you two be?”
At the sound of Chrollo’s voice, feitan was across the kitchen in less than a second. (Name) blinked, then tilted her head. “Leave us be? Why?”
Feitan held a hand over his chest. Had he… almost kissed her? He’d been so close to her lips meeting his, just about to close the gap in between them before Chrollo interrupted.
And for that, he sent Chrollo a glare.
She exchanged numbers with Feitan before he left, promising to send him pictures of the kitten as she aged.
And that was that.
