STARDEW VALLEY MONSTER AU!!!

Idk why but all I've been able to think about the past few days have been an idea for an AU where all the bachelors and bachelorettes are monsters so here's my thoughts!

I'm going to rank my ideas for what monsters they are going to be from a scale of "you can literally not change my mind" to "I barely know anything about them please help"

Abigail is obviously going to be a witch. With the theory of her being the wizards daughter as well as her spirituality, making her a witch would be the obvious choice.

Sam is a werewolf and you can't change my mind on this one. He is THE golden retriever bachelor so making him a dog is just a given. I could see him go full dog mode when he's around Abigail and Sebastian. I don't think he'll cause too many problems during the full moon, as long as he's fed well.

Sebastian being a vampire is also another obvious one. I could see him desperately trying to find an alternative way to quench his bloodthirst (literally) because he doesn't want to hurt anyone. He would probably try to feed on animals at first or something like that.

Shane is a zombie. I think it would be an ironic turn of events if he ended up dying and then came back to life. The rest of the village would probably not even notice anything because he already looked kinda dead, Jaz would probably be a little suspicious, but if a toddler told you that her alcoholic godfather was a zombie you would probably just think she's got a wild imagination.

Emily and Haley are definitely sirens to me, specifically the mermaid type of siren. I don't really have much to back this one up other than Haley being the typical "beautiful but mean girl" and idk it gives siren to me, also the thought of Emily and Haley swimming around with beautiful mermaid tails just makes me happy.

I literally have no idea what the rest of the bachelors and bachelorettes could be, if anyone has any ideas please send me an ask or something like that.

What'cha playing video game wise, Jaz?

Need to finish AC Valhalla but I'm having a hard time staying on track. I got Sigurd back and he's a bag of dicks and I knooooooow it ties into the story and I knoooooooow being a bag of dicks after being tortured for weeks (months? unclear how much time has passed) is a pretty normal trauma response but also. Currently he's a jerk and Eivor's dedication to him while he's being a jerk is admirable but I can't relate. The game is fun but the story right now is not particularly rewarding. I don't like doing a lot of work and bringing it to someone only for them to throw it in my face and tell me I'll never be good enough. So I don't really like where I am in the plot atm.

So instead of being mad at Sigurd all the time, I'm playing Harvestella and working on finishing that. Truly it did not deserve the wankfest made about it when it first came out. I will say having gotten much farther, it's less "final fantasy meets stardew valley" which I think set a lot of people up for expectations that would absolutely not be met. It's more "Nier series with some farming/gathering elements" and even makes more than a few heavyhanded Nier Automata references. People (myself included) saw SquareEnix on the cover and assumed Final Fantasy and I think that was overall detrimental to its reception because it's very not a FF game but it's probably as close to a Yoko Taro game as you can get without having him on staff. I've been a fan of his stuff since the original Drakengard so I'm fine with that but his stuff is *weird* and often weird in really unexpected ways, so if you're not expecting that out the gate it can be a pretty big shock.

I am still not sure if I want to actually play FFVII Evercrisis- I'm interested in the additions to the overall lore and plot and I like the convenience of having the full compilation in one easy-to-access location (including supposedly a few Japan-only entries I never actually got ahold of) but at the same time the demo was pretty micro-transation-y and as a general rule I hate gacha systems especially when they rely on real money to use. First Soldier was one thing because the gacha stuff was mostly cosmetic, and you didn't need the gacha weapons or armor to win (as evidenced by my wins having spent 0 money on anything). But the Evercrisis demo had gacha items needed for progression which means inevitabily I'm going to hit a wall and not be able to progress the story without spending money, and I hate games that do this.

Once I'm done with Valhalla it'll be Elden Ring (thanks @khayr !) and then FFVII Rebirth will probably be out by the time I'm done with it, which I'll play to death I'm sure. I still have to play Horizon Forbidden West (thanks follower whose URL I can't find again) and then go back and play the additional content I have for KH3, Ghost of Tsushima, and the new update stuff for Ghostwire Tokyo... as well as various switch games I need to just finish already... oh and the new Y's is coming out soon and at some point I need to snag FFXVI... and then there's AC Mirage whenever that releases plus I'm really looking forward to Red and Jade... and besides I have to go back and actually finish Origins and start Odessey (and black flag, and rogue, and unity...)

I think I’m just massively stardew pilled currently and I’ve been consuming a fuckton of content about it but I have some I’d argue “hot takes” about the game and its characters so here’s a list

Pierre is at most kind of annoying. I don’t really understand why people hate him so much (reselling your crops? Like yeah it’s annoying but does not matter, you’re still more well known and well liked by the townspeople)

Abby being the wizards daughter seems like a red herring. Listen. Hear me out. One of the main “arguments” is that her hair is purple but like. Caroline has bright green hair and Jaz LITERALLY so has “naturally purple hair”. I think it’s just a weird side effect of living in the valley.

Literally Mayor Lewis is fine. At most he takes his job way too seriously and as a result thinks it’s “controversial” to be with Marnie.

Haley is GOOD. She has CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Shane also is rude as shit to you in the beginning of the game and he’s beloved

“I’m just saying, Serinne had a point,“ Haley said with her hip propped against the ice cream cart, slapping the magazine page “I never liked Harcourt, I told you. No man with a haircut like that can have taste, and she deserves so much better.”

Alex groaned, “And I told you, as long as he can score ten touchdowns in one match for the Tunnelers, I don’t care what celebrity he's going out with. Now, when I am the MVP? You’ll be able to veto my girlfriend and my hair. Though I’m not sure if that is giving you too much power…” he said, playfully running his hand through his hair, “I do a fantastic job already.”

“You are insufferable sometimes, you know that. You’re lucky I put up with you at all.”

Alex lifted an eyebrow, leaned on the cart and checked his watch. “Five… four… three…”

“What are you—” Before Haley could finish the question, the library door slammed open and Vincent raced out, followed closely by Jaz and Leo. Haley whipped around. Her face lit up as she hurried towards their long-suffering teacher, conversation forgotten.

“Sure, go, just abandon me!” Alex shouted after her with a smile.

Haley waved a hand in his direction without bothering to turn around. Instead, she joined Penny’s side, returning her smile.

“Did you have a good day, darling?” She said, grabbing Penny’s hands in hers. She leaned forward, pecking her on the lips before sighing and dramatically leaning her head against Penny’s shoulder, “Oh, the hours have dragged something awful without you.”

“I feel like I should be taking notes on how to score,” Alex muttered to the children, all of whom were pulling faces of disgust at the display. He waved at them, motioning at the cart, “Ice cream, anyone?”

"Maybe a small one," Penny said, approaching the cart. She was still holding Haley's hand, and the blonde kissed her on the cheek, making her blush. She cleared her throat to recover. "What do we say, children?"

"Please!" Jaz exclaimed, echoed by the other two.

"I want chocolate!" Vincent said.

"I'll pass," Haley said. She nudged Penny's arm. "I already have the sweetest thing here."

"Haley!" Penny exclaimed with a giggle. Haley widened her eyes, doing her best to look innocent and cute.

"You are impossible," Penny laughed, shaking her head.

"I am lucky," Haley answered. "And talented. I convinced you to be my girlfriend, didn't I?"

Penny rolled her eyes, but caved. She stood closer and pressed a soft kiss on the commissure of Haley's lips.

"Maybe we were both lucky," she agreed softly, as they prepared to enjoy the beautiful summer day.

Okay so. For Stardew Valley I have Hestia. Technically she's more for Expanded but it COUNTS.

So Hestia. She's a dragon. She's seriously traumatized. She's in her sixties but looks like early/mid twenties.

Hestia's mother, her father, her grandmother, and grandfather. They all died at the hands of humans, her mother by a mob of humans afraid for their village. They didn't even have any trained dragon knights or adventurers, they were just terrified and did what they could. But the dragon wasn't fighting back, trying to tell them she was no threat. They killed her and ripped scales off her body as trophies. All the while, two-day-old Hestia was hiding under the roots of a tree watching the savagery of humans.

Her father was a human. Adopted father, technically. He was a wizard, who found her and took her in. He taught her everything, to take human form, to fly, to fish. Everything. He took care of her, he used magic to keep himself spry enough to keep up with her in her sixties and his eighties. Then humans saw her. The grandchildren of the ones who killed her mother. They came to his tower. They'd seen her fly there. They mobbed him. They killed him for protecting the dragon. She was in the air, flying towards Pelican Town, when she felt his magic rush into her.

Humans are violent, she learned. Humans attack things they're afraid of, they kill without reason and without hesitation. To survive, she has to hide. She can't let them know what she is. That's what she's learned. She learned that, even if she trusts one, she can't trust all of them.

Magnus altered the memories of everyone in Pelican Town. He made them believe she was the granddaughter of the late farmer. As far as anyone knows, that farm is her birthright. She's still terrified at first. She doesn't really talk to anyone. She just does her work and talks as little as possible. Eventually comfortable enough around Marlon, trusting him as the leader of the guild. He is the second to know. Magnus is the first.

Then comes Lance, at the top of the volcano. It's a long time before she tells him. And she's terrified through every second of it. She knows he was trained by a dragon knight. Who knows what he was taught about dragons. Who knows what he would think, how he would react, to knowing dragons can take human form. But he doesn't hurt her. He trusts and loves her.

It's years before the whole town knows. It happens when monsters attack. It happens when Jaz is in danger, monsters coming from the forest. Jaz fallen over, screaming for help. The dragon rushes past all the adventurers. The dragon stands over the girl. The dragon protects her. How gentle she is with Jaz, gently nuzzling her and licking her tears away. How Lance comes, puts Jaz's hand on the dragon's nose. They can't be angry. They can't be scared. They know, they saw it.

The dragon protects them. The dragon won't hurt them.

Also Hestia is pescitarian. She literally cannot eat anything but fish. She can't digest anything but fish. I care Hestia so much she has so much trauma stuffed inside.

Oh and about her grandfather. Over in the Crimson Badlands, he had landed to eat. He was a species of dragon that eats monsters. So the Badlands was a veritable feast. All he was doing was eating monsters. But the Vanguard didn't know that. So they sent their best and bravest. Including Isaac. Who was the one to strike the killing blow, the one who got utterly soaked in dragon magic. The one who got to see the terror in the dragon's eye as it died.

Hestia came the next day, with Lance. Hestia sensed the dragon magic all over Isaac. Lance hadn't even known there was another dragon in the Badlands.
