A long list of some of my all time favorite Star Trek fics. Not in any order. I just combed through my ao3 bookmarks for fics that still resonate with me and really blew me away. I will try to tag the authors if I can find blogs for them. If you know an authors blog I haven’t tagged, please tag them!

I dont have the spoons to write lil reviews for each fic bc theres toooooo many but maybe I’ll come back and edit some in sometime.

And eventually I’m gonna make a list like this for Sherlock Holmes and a few other fandoms. Also want to make one specific to podfics. We’ll see what happens first! This took me way longer than I thought it would…

All the Time in the World (27856 words) by LSPINGLES The death of Edith Keeler affects Kirk and Spock in different ways. Spock invites Kirk to come with him to Vulcan to heal. Along the way the learn something about their feelings for each other.

Spice (276553 words) by eimeo It’s a question of biology. Vulcan biology. The problem with falling in love with a member of an insanely private species is that it just might take you the best part of a five year mission to work out that the feelings are requited. And then you might discover that he’s already decided that the two of you can never be together. And what are you supposed to do if he won’t tell you why?

Fulfilling the Needs of the One (Or the Both) (8741 words) by plaidshirtjimkirk Spock begins to wonder if his relationship with Jim has been one-sided in his own favor.

Touch Upon the Wonders that You See (4071 words) by waldorph Sarek does not always understand his son, but that does not mean he does not love him.

Don't Stop Believing (205901 words) by kianspo The story follows Spock from his own days as a cadet at Starfleet Academy to the ‘present day’ when he’s Kirk’s first officer and the Enterprise is on its five-year mission. Essentially, the story of Spock’s first real love followed by the story of him finding the love of his life. Ad astra per aspera.

And Then I Let It Go (10632 words) by kianspo Post-Star Trek Beyond. The crew of the Enterprise gets a breather while they are waiting for their new ship. Jim uses the time to do something he had sworn he would never do.

The Lotus Eaters (93594 words) by aldora89 Stranded on the planet Sigma Nox while searching for a missing away team, Spock and Kirk find themselves pitted against a disturbing native life form. With the captain out of commission on a regular basis and Spock struggling to preserve his stoicism, staying alive is difficult enough – but when a slim chance for escape surfaces, their resolve is truly put to the test. Together they must fight for survival in the heart of an alien jungle, and in the process, uncover the mystery of the planet’s past. Slow build K/S.

Atlas (135529 words) by distractedKat Between what was and what will be stands James Tiberius Kirk, in all his fractured patchwork glory. Because saving the Federation was only the beginning. Maybe it's the blinding set-lights, or the fact that he hasn't slept in thirty-five hours. But for some reason Kirk blurts, “Honestly, they all end up getting jealous of Spock.”

Four times the Enterprise Crew didn´t realize that their commanding officers were married to each other and one time they finally found out (4130 words) by razzleberryicedtea In which Spock and Jim casually forget to mention that they are married, and the Enterprise crew is too oblivious to notice on their own

A Star to Steer By (32043 words) by Borealisblue Kidnapped, injured, and headed towards Romulan space, Kirk could only be grateful that his last act was saving Spock from the same fate. And all it had cost was a stolen kiss.

An Open Secret (3495 words) by TransScribe Amanda Grayson knew her son. She could read him, easily. That might've been why she had suspicions about his relationship long before he said anything. It was more likely because subtlety was not a trait Spock had inherited.

the book of love (7297 words) by miss_frankenstein When yet another away mission goes awry, Jim and Spock are left stranded on a hostile planet with nothing to do but talk. What follows is a conversation about art and literature, life and death, love and friendship.

Take My Hand (My Whole Life Too) (5981 words) by pastmydancingdays Whilst in one of the most dangerous situations of his life, Jim Kirk came to a realisation that he should have had a very long time ago. Two, in fact, and he was about to let neither go to waste. A potential epilogue to Amok Time.

Ashayam (3378 words) by Willowe Spock knows he has no right to refer to Jim as any sort of endearment, even in the privacy of his own thoughts. If he had only listened to this logic he wouldn't find himself in this position, standing on the bridge having just called his captain "ashayam".

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I just hit 50 works!!

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

121K!

3. What fandoms do you write for?

The core of my works are from The Sandman, but I have written a little for Star Trek and Baldur's Gate 3!

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Beautiful stranger here you are in my arms ; Aconitum ; Beautiful Stranger Catching My Stare ; Sworn to Meet ; Pavlovian Reflexes

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Sometimes! It really depends on the kind of comment I get, but I do read all of them and cherish them!!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I think it'd be "Know my heart still has a suitcase, but I still can't take it through", which deals with unrequited love! (Unrequited Dreamling, Established Hoblethros)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I wanna say Aconitum, cause this was my first multi-chaptered project that I finished, and I loved where the plot ended up going (ft. a wedding epilogue, need I say more)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Haven't gotten any as of yet!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Sometimes I do! I've mostly done non-penetrative sex scenes, which seems to be my jam

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Haven't yet, even though I do have a Sandman x GO piece in my drafts....

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No! I do have a fic that's been made into a podfic, though

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

The two ships at the "foundation" of me are Hannigram and Spirk, which I feel explain a lot of things haha

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I really wish I could finish Pavlovian Reflexes, this was my very first venture into multi-chaptered fic territory and I'm so sad that I haven't touched it in months!

16. What are your writing strengths?

The brain worms, they're stronk

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

English is my second language, so I feel like somtimes my grammar is wonky af, but shit happens

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'd stick to languages I know and/or ask for help to translate bits.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

[redacted], we don't talk about my wattpad phase, thank you

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

That's such a hard choice, hmmmmm. I really loved writing "Source to Seer, I reach for destiny" for the Dreamling Bingo, which isn't my most popular work, but I was very proud of since it's a lil chonker (for me, since I don't write a lot of long fics). Also big love to "Sweet Mourning Lamb", one of my Corinthienne works, and, more recenty, "I went away cause I missed you" which is a Durge x Gortash (BG3) work.

Top 3 fandoms

(basing this off those I actually engage with the most, bc I am a lurker in way too many fandoms at once tbh 😹)

1. Spatort/Tatort Saarbrücken (German crime TV show that is technically for boomers. There are many diff editions of this show, each based on a diff city here. And this one has two leads that have a very fascinating backstory with eachother and that has captured the hearts of many German Tumblr users 😹💕)

-> okay, tbf, I haven't been super active in that one lately, but the yearly new episode will come out at the end of January and I prob won't shut up about it for at least a week!

2. The Amazing Devil

-> yes, they are a band, so idk if it really counts as fandom; but I do check that tag at least every other day and am always in awe by the cool stuff a lot of ppl are making!

3. Community

-> one of my fave shows of all time and I love regularly checking the tag to see what sillyness the others in the fandom have been up to!

Honestly, writing these down has just made me realize, how much more active I am on Smoshblr, than I have been in any fandom that came before it... Y'all truly mean so much to me 🫶

(basing this on how much fanfic I've read about each of them)

1. Spirk!!!

-> the OGs!! Nothing can top that ship for me, genuinely; they just have everything!!

2. Stucky

-> Am I still extremely bitter about endgame? Yes. However if I even see so much as a snippet of fanfic about them (especially the shrinkyclinks dynamic) I am immediately drawn to ao3

3. Trobed

-> they bring me so much joy and pain at the same time. And honestly? What more could I want from a ship 🫶💔 (I might never recover from the "I had to patch up parts of your DNA with genes from a homing pigeon - you may notice side effects, like a compulsion to come back" and "It needs to be okay for it get on a boat with levar Burton and never come back" lines...)

Jim perks up, and nods his agreement, gesturing for Spock to lead on. “I just can’t help myself, I guess,” Jim says to himself, glancing apologetically at the seat Uhura had long since vacated, before downing his drink and striding to catch up with Spock.

I said I’d start posting some fic recs because I miss those sorts of posts, and so here we are!

Tabula Rasa by xantissa. DMBJ, pingxie. Summary: Zhang Qiling forgets. Then he comes to some interesting conclusions regarding his relationship to the man named Wu Xie. This fic is has such a nice Zhang Qiling pov, it is funny and tender and in character. I loved it’s take on a “first time” they get close. Everything xantissa writes is gold.

With a Twist of the Kaleidoscope by naye. Guardian, weilan. Summary: “Trust me,” Zhao Yunlan says.Shen Wei actually huffs at him, as if he is being so patently ridiculous that fear-tinged fury would be too dignified an answer. “How can I trust you?”Ye Zun tries a different tactic to defeat his brother, that may tear apart everything Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan have worked to build between them. This is one of my favorite fics I’ve ever read (most of these are honestly). Fantastic, phenomenal, I love this take on the universe and this story. I love Ye Zun, and everyone's, characterization in this to pieces. This fic inspired me so much it spurred me to end up writing multiple post canon fix it fics of my own. Everything naye writes is really beautiful, really in character, really well done. There is also a podfic version.

Divergence by 13empress. Star Trek AOS, spirk. Summary: A single Romulan from Nero's crew survives, who is pulled through the forming singularity to approximately 13 years into the past. Aware that he could lose everything if he were to wait for his revenge, Nero decides to even the odds by kidnapping a young Spock and Kirk and deliberately sets about to change the time line. Meanwhile, scientists monitoring the anomaly that the artificial singularity left behind receive confirmation that a member of Nero's crew is alive and in the past. Uncertain of the impact upon their own time line or indeed upon the Federation of the (new) alternate time line, Starfleet Command issues orders for the Enterprise crew who are in their second year of serving together to investigate the matter by going through the anomaly. Pre-slash K/S, slash ending. Implied slash for young K/S. One of my favorite spirk stories and Star Trek AOS stories of all time. In retrospect it probably is the reason I love time travel and time loop stories so much.

Monotone by seredemia. MDZS/The Untamed, wangxian. Summary: Wei Wuxian reincarnates, Lan Wangji lives on. In the modern world, they meet again. One of my favorite wangxian fics and an extremely in character and thoughtful take on a modern setting/reincarnated characters. (It inspired me to write the fic over the moon by softcorevulcan just a short story similar modern setting for xiyao).

Observations by anon_j_anon. Star Trek AOS, spirk. Summary: First Officer Spock comments on life aboard the Enterprise and his service under Captain James T. Kirk. This fic is on multiple sites, anon_j_anon made ebook download versions too. This is one of the best stories I’ve ever read, incredibly crafted. It focuses on the entire enterprise crew and it feels like a ‘tos’ style continuation of the mission to go where no one has gone before for the aos characters.

Void by Alxina, xantissa. Love and Redemption, Luohou Jidu/Yu Sifeng, Chu Xuanji/Yu Sifeng. Summary: What happened in the Demon Citadel when Luohou Jidou realized Yu Sifeng was a lot more injured than he let on. There is a desperate need for more lovely fanfic for this story, and this fic delivers. Lovely writing.

Do you know how many times you distracted me when I was hurt or lonely? Do you know how many times a line or a scene from fanfic marked me so much that I remembered years later, even though I can't recall my own phone number?

Even if the fic isn't perfect or popular or multi-chaptered... Sometimes there’s just one sentence that changed me.
