literally will never be over one of the last songs played on this tour was the kids aren’t alright. the song that says that life can be hard and difficult and feel so bleak sometimes, but is worth it for the people you surround yourself with. it’s worth it if you have people you love to go through every high and low with, to maul the world like a carnival bear set free together. it almost feels like the perfect song to commemorate the tour- it can feel so easy to just hide under a blanket and think about dying, to close yourself off from the world, to live in fear to the point you arent Really living, but the people you surround yourself with? they can bring you out of that darkness, remind you what you’re alive for. that in the end, it would all be worth doing again for the love and the light life can bring. them playing it last night, i think, was a dedication to each other as much as it was to the fans- they’d do it all again to meet each other and make music together, they’d do it all again to play to us and make us feel seen and heard. if there is a healing tour anthem, i think the kids aren’t alright is the perfect one.

I can't stop carrying this in my heart. As funny as those videos of people bothering their cats are (like they hold their cat close for kisses and the cat goes aaaa), I think it's infinitely more rewarding to not do these tiny teasing things and get this rock solid trust between you and your pet.

Because by not crossing these boundaries ever, your cat becomes so heartwarmingly forgiving when you DO have to break a boundary for medicine or vet stuff. These animals who are often seen as solitary creatures who hide when feeling ill, will instead seek you out for comfort (looking for company but knowing you won't pet them if they don't want you to). You'll give them their medicine, but instead of running away afterwards, they'll stay and lift their tail, accepting of a job-well-done pet on the head. It's the most special bond you can create with a cat, I feel!

And all of this is not just coming from how sweet my late cat was when he fell ill last year, but also now with our young cat who's got a mild stomach virus. To be able to lift a sick cat towards the draining tub without a fight or fright, because you know she'd love to watch the drain (and she does). I dunno! That's just so special to me!

I wish that deep connection onto anyone with a cat! But I also think if you want that connection, you have to respect your cat's boundaries, no matter how minuscule or silly they might feel

I don't think Greek Mythology retellings/adaptions/inspired/etc. are necessarily "evil"...but I DO think people REALLY need to understand that there's a huge difference between the actual mythology and certain media.

I feel like people have to basically do a "Fandom ___" to say the different versions. Like "PJO ___", "Hades game ___", "TSOA ___". For it to be understood that these depictions are DIFFERENT. I'm saying this as someone who grew up reading PJO and still has a soft spot for it. But as someone who really loves Greek Mythology as well, I sometimes get really SAD.

I'm going to use the comparison of Howl's Moving Castle with it's Book Vs. Movie. I enjoy both!!! But they are honestly very different. In the movie there is no "sister swap", Markle isn't a young teenager, Sophie doesn't throw weed killer at Howl, and many more moments. But I enjoy both because even though there are changes they still keep components that are ingrained into the characters!

In some Greek Myth retellings/adaptations/stories/etc., characters are...SO different from the source material. That's fine...Choose what you want with your story... But folks should know that the modern adaptations are NOT the source material!!!

It bothers me that a lot of these wonderful myths and stories are twisted up and seen so differently because of a modern version of them. You can have that character be "awful" or a certain way in your story. But I almost feel that as fans, it's not good to generalize them or see it as "This is the truth". People are hating the mythological figure when it's only in that interpretation they are like that.

In PJO, Ares is "Zeus' favorite", isn't a good dad, a misogynist, etc. The actual myths? One of his Epithets is LITERALLY "Feasted by Women", in the Iliad everybody basically bullies him with Zeus literally saying he hates him. He cries when he learns one of his sons is killed in the war. He literally kills someone about to rape his daughter. Ares isn't perfect but it makes me sad with how he's viewed and talked about when it's only in PJO he's like that. Same with Dionysus. Read the Bacchae, you'll love it.

In Lore Olympus, Apollo rapes Persephone (noticing the fact that modern takes on the myths add rapes where there never were hmmmmm) when he never did in any of the myths.

In TSOA, Thetis is cruel when in the Iliad, she is such a loving mother to Achilles. She grieved alongside her son over Patroclus. Also with Agamemnon. In Ipheginia at Aulis, Agamemnon is a MESS. He adored his children.

In Circe, Odysseus is viewed as a selfish man who ONLY hurts others and doesn't care about his family when that is LITERALLY his one consistent character trait. HE is actually the one who is the victim of rape. Circe was never raped.

Medusa is only a victim in Ovid's, a Roman man, works. Not in GREEK mythology. She was just a cool monster. Leave Perseus alone. Poseidon and Medusa actually had a consensual relationship in Greek Mythology!

These adaptations/retellings/inspired by/etc. whatever anybody wants to call them, are not the real myths! They may be similar in some ways but to just generalize them or hate the deity/mythological figure because of something they did in the new media feels fucked up!

You can enjoy these new stories. There's nothing wrong with that!!! But know they're not the real myths. Maybe even label it as "I hate ____'s version of ____". As that makes it clear what version you're talking about.

as for my trans!wilson au i didn’t give it much thought at first tbh bc whenever i like a character i just hit them with my transgenderism beam But !! bc of this ask i started to think abt what it would actually mean for him character wise and !!!!

i think wilson is such a Weird Guy with Peculiar Morals that he’d come to terms with being trans and he started transitioning pretty early, ifl he didn’t struggle with his gender nearly as much as his sexuality. like he can accept that he is trans in the sense that it’s a medical ‘problem’ with a solution but Dr. James Repression Wilson would struggle with the idea of anything ‘threatening’ his masculinity or the image he projects of himself.

like it’s the mid 2000s it’s prime time being gay is girly and gay men aren’t real men etc, and i think hed buy into that as a way of protecting his image. which brings me to my next point !

wilson would struggle abt having feelings for house bc he’s a Man and house is a man and wilson is constantly trying to prove to himself and everyone else he’s just a Normal Guy who likes women and has a Wife and has a Wife and…. has house..

i think wilson is defined by his image, his hair has to look right, he Has to be with a woman even if he is emotionally unavailable and doesn’t love her, he has very few real connections bc he’s too afraid to be known, which is part of why he loves being around house. bc he’s annoying and pesters him, wont let things go, disregards social standards, and needles his way into everything wilson. and he secretly eats that up bc house knows him better than anyone, he sees wilson right through to his core.

i think over the seasons he becomes more comfortable and understanding of himself (thinking of the piano) and that loving house doesn’t make him ‘less of a man’ it just makes him insane <3

idk i just think he’s so compelling to read as trans bc he’s already such an interesting specimen when u really look at him

fyodor is in a bath of what is likely blood. if i had to guess I'd say it's symbolism for the whole story, really - blood being spilled by him or in his name, so he can achieve his goal. he is deep inside the blood of those the doa have hurt

nikolai has a part of his leg in it. he's helped spill some of that blood, after all, with his murders and his part of the plan to frame the agency. however, he could easily get up and go with barely a stain anywhere else on him. not because his hands are clean, but because he always makes sure he has a way to escape. he has agency. he is not being controlled by fyodor to stay in the tub. he spends time with him willingly - just like he went to meursault to put fyodor and dazai in the game willingly, even though he could escape and no one would even think to look for him.

this art was actually the catalyst to my previous post abt them, bc one interpretation i keep seeing is that fyodor has the upper hand, almost controlling nikolai, probably under the assumption that he's manipulating him somehow (which, tbf, I'm p sure this is what fyodor thought he was doing too)

however i feel like this art is a way to show that's not the case

fyodor has a fork in hand, already in the cake. he could easily just use it and bring it to his mouth, he doesn't need nikolai to feed him, and he'll probably be cleaner about it too. i think, this is symbolism for his original escape plan from meursault - we recently learned that one of the prison guards is a vampire, meaning he had a man on the inside the whole time. nikolai showing up and putting him in this race can technically achieve the same goal - he's still eating the cake after all - but he's definitely making the whole ordeal way messier

it's not that nikolai is 100% in total control or something - fyodor could push him away if he wanted, or possibly kill him in meursault - but he's still the one taking the reigns, making a choice for fyodor, going into his personal space and making sure fyodor notices, both on the inside by putting his fingers in his mouth, and outside by practically enveloping him.

tldr: nikolai 1 always has an escape route. he's not giving in to just whatever fyodor plans 2 is in more control than he might give himself credit for

Just to state it here before I start yapping my ever living soul out, Shiver is an eastern tall-man, Frye is a beast-man (like Izutsumi) and Big Man is a kobold. I can get a bit more into their designs and headcanons in another post, but today I want to focus on the lore.

It allllllll roots back to Shiver and Frye's fathers, who were friends since lord knows when. They were a team of burglars, looters, thieves, whatever you may call them, but in the end of the day just let it be clear that they were BAD. And they engaged in BAD shit, like looting corpses in dungeons and stealing from people's houses.

One day, they hit a huge one, they got into the house of this really rich dude that turned out to traffic beast men and other illegal creatures. And the rich being rich and caring about their richness, the security was top notch, and let's just say they struggled to get out of the place alive. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They left in NO WAY empty handed.

While looting the place, Frye's father found a kobold cub, chained up inside a cage in the corner beside other creatures likely being sold illegally. He brought the cub with him, and after almost getting their asses turned into kebabs by traps everywhere, the two companions were like "holy FUCK i ain't ever ever ever doing this shit again man.,.,. Wgart the ehll,,,,,, I'm getting too old for this, hell naw!!!!!!!" and decided to settle down as (this time legal) and functioning members of society. Shiver's father opened a dojo, while Frye's father opened a restaurant.

However, the rich guy who owned the house was PISSED (and also happened to be a black magic user......... woah how unlucky of them) and as revenge for stealing his wealth and freeing their beast men, cursed Frye's expecting father, mending the soul of his firstborn with the soul of a monster. And alas, that's how the critter was born😋🙏🔥💯😭

So yeah!!!!!!! Frye is a beast man just like Izutsumi is a beast man. They're the same typa monster, pretty much, except that Frye is a leopard instead of a housecat.

Anyway, back to the kobold pup; you guessed it, BIG MAN (or Big Dog?), being raised in the Onaga's restaurant, was always raised around the kitchen, both because he was genuinely interested in watching people cook and because he hoped to get food that fell from the floor lmfao-- as years went by, he started working as a server, apprentice, and eventually assistant chef of the family-ran restaurant. (So yeah, Biggie is the party's chef!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He also has an incredible sense of smell when it comes to cooking btw, both because of genuine talent and because of his race).

Ironic to his early years as a burglar, Shiver's dad grew to become quite the overprotective father once his daughter started growing up, wanting her to do anything but follow his steps and become a criminal before the age of 20. That backfired though, because she started running off to hang out with Frye causing all sorts of trouble (and eventually dragged Big Dog into it all too). The three were raised almost like siblings, and later on joined together as a party and continued to cause all sorts of troubles inside dungeons, where they eventually bumped into the other idols and started this whoooole story years later.

(They weren't all like their fathers though, instead of keeping the money they got from dungeons to themselves they gave it to the poor, much like their canon bandit dynamics.)

Anyway, that's the end of the yapping session, I hope y'all enjoyed (and if you did, please enjoy this page I doodled while blasting ToyBox in my headphones 🦄🙏 perhaps I'll outline and color this one day, but not now because it's 1:30 in the morning while I'm typing this out.)

Maybe this is just me but don’t you guys get the impression that newer Eve characters don’t have the same impact as older ones? What I mean is that charcaters like Pattun, Kuru, Bun, Dancer, Seki (tg specifically) and the Okinime desu mama boy are always in fanart I always see fanart of them but newer ones…I only see them on my tl for like a week or two and they just disappear and I never see them again

The only exceptions to this rule I can think of are ofc Tobi and fs Ryuuko but other than that characters from Gunjou Sanka, Don’t Replay The Boredom, Yusei Boushi, Hakugin, etc I just don’t see them like that much compared to when their MVs came out….every once in a while I see the Heart Forecast girls and maybe Raison D’être or Baumkuchen End guy in the wild but it’s very rare…even Akame and Zukin who were really popular when their MV came out are not there that much

It’s funny bc Tohiko came out two weeks ago and I already stopped seeing fanart of it like???? Idk exactly how to explain it but yeh it’s like idk they just don’t have the same impact or charisma? Or maybe it’s that we are so used to fast consumerism we just forget about them after a week or two? Idk does anyone else feels this or it’s only me?
