・Not surprised, but a tad shocked. He was used to this behaviour from his mother.

・But when he laid his eyes on you, all he could feel was pride.

"How'd the other guy look?"

"Way fuckin' worse, sweetheart," you said with a smirk.

"That's my girl."

・His arm wrapped around you as you left the station, Unser already pulling strings to get you out. Plus, the guy wasn't going to press charges.

・While getting on the back of Jax's bike you said, "You know what, it felt pretty good."

"I know it does babe, but please don't make it a regular thing," he replied and lightly slapped you on your thigh.

"I'll do my best..."

𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐄

・"The hell did that come from?" He asked as you walked through the front door, nursing a very swollen black eye. Apparently punching first doesn't mean you've won the fight.

・"Ugh, would you believe me if I said I ran into a pole?"

"You hate running."

"Fuck, you're right."

・Out of all the guys, he's the most surprised. It took him a while to process it, the story, the lump on your forehead.

・But to him, it meant you accepted this life.

・From his first marriage, Opie was used to having a s/o who was against the club, but with you - you took it in your stride.

・Completely intergrating with it.

・He pulled you onto his lap, cupping your face.

"That's a fucking big one," Opie said, tracing the outline of the bruise.

"I know. But I was the only one left standing."

𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐁𝐒

・Taken aback, mostly upset because you were arrested.

"You're saying my Old Lady, Y/n Telford, was arrested?"

"Yes," Unser said on the other side of the call. He watched you from the door.

Your head was leaning against the cold brick wall. Eyes shut, nose bleeding, but that was the extent of your injuries.

"And may I ask why, she got arrested," Chibs growled.

"She assaulted someone," with Unser's reply, a smile grew on your face.

"She fuckin' what-" then the line went fuzzy and all Unser heard was "I'm coming," before Chibs hung up.

・You weren't worried. Not about being arrested. Because you knew Chibs wouldn't let you stay in here.

・And you were right, because that very afternoon you were released and Chibs grabbed ahold of your face, checking for injuries.

"What were you thinking lass?"

"Oh honey, I wasn't-"

𝐓𝐈𝐆

・Surprised and kinda turned on by it

・It had been pure luck that you weren't arrested. The Sheriffs had been occupied with actual crime ... not a woman punching a creep square in the face.

・However, once Tig came home and saw the swollen, bruised hand of yours, he instantly knew what had happened.

"Look, all I'm gonna say is ... I'm proud of you baby. You put those creeps in their places. But next time, I want a few rounds too."

・You smiled up at him, and went to push yourself up from the couch but grimaced as you used your hand.

"Yeah, it's gonna be a bit tender for a while. Just relax. I'll do whatever you need me to."

・And then he came over and kissed your hand, examining the darkness that was still developing, the splits in the skin.

"Sheesh, you did a good job," Tig mumbled and went to go get your first aid kit.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘

・The PROUDEST.

・The next day he told everyone in the meeting what happened and all the Sons clapped him on the back.

"Happens to all of us," Jax said with a wink.

・Not only was happy, Happy, he was ecstatic. Because it meant you weren't averse to violence...

・Not that he would readily bring it into the home now, it just meant that you didn't find him or his work disgusting.

・He's always worried about that. That one day, you'll just up and leave because this life isn't for you.

・But you know how he feels, and it was part of the reason why you gave that guy a shiner.

・He would've been only a few years older than you, but he wouldn't stop hitting on you. Not even when you told him you weren't single.

・So you thought, "fuck it, my family is a fucking bikie club," and you went for it.

・Explaining that to Happy made him ... kind of emotional.

・Completely shocked.

・Not in a million years did he think you would be in a fight. Or at least a punch up.

・You were quite fiesty, and that's part of the reason why he loved you

・But he never thought that side of you would become physical.

"Babe, why?" Juice asked over his bowl. He had made dinner that night, wanting to do something.

"The fucker kept on staring at me. Even after I told him to knock it off, twice."

"Oh, he had it coming then."

・A part of him was upset that you had to defend yourself. He always wants to be the one to do that.

Otto: “The Realm will not accept her.”

And yet Rhaenyra actually ends up having more allies than the greens.

The only great Houses who supported Aegon were the Lannisters and the Baratheons, and they only did so for their own gain. The Lannisters did good business with Otto in the past and Borros Baratheon was a misogynist who gave the greens his banners because Aemond promised to marry one of his daughters (that never happened). The Tyrells, as the Paramount House of the Reach, refused to support their bannermen, the Hightowers, and remained neutral in the war. Plenty of Aegon’s “allies” end up abandoning him, even House Hightower.

Rhaenyra had the Starks (and with them came the whole North), Arryns (the Vale) and Tullys (the Riverlands). She also had the Velaryons, the Greyjoys (the Iron Islands), plenty of Crownlanders and lords from the Reach. Even certain Stormlanders remained faithful to her and preferred to die rather than acknowledge Aegon as king.

And even after her death, the Starks, Arryns and Tullys fought for her cause and defeated the greens, crowning Rhaenyra and Daemon’s son, Aegon III. That’s called loyalty, something the greens lack. And despite what certain greenies like to believe, the Blacks won the war.

Otto Hightower remains known as one of the worst Hands in the history of Westeros, who didn’t do anything other than abuse his power to advance the position of his family. He gave bad counsel on many occasions, that even his own grandson got tired of him and replaced him.

Brave of him to assume that the Realm would not accept Rhaenyra as Queen, when he and his greenies didn’t give them much of a choice. The greenies stage a coup, take the throne and then force everyone to swear allegiance because Aegon wears the Conqueror’s crown and wields his sword (what an accomplishment! 😂 He is given those things by his mother and grandfather. How exactly does that symbolize legitimacy? They’re practically stolen.)

The Targaryen dynasty continued through Rhaenyra’s bloodline and the greens’ ended (as it happened in the English Anarchy. Empress Matilda’s bloodline started the Plantagenet dynasty while Stephen’s bloodline ended).

If you had the chance to change something about the dance of the dragons (TV show or book), what would it be? For example, how a character dies, which team a house is on,or an entire character personally. How would you change it to make the story better, in your opinion? 💙💚🖤♥️

Good question! There are a lot of things I'd change, but I think first and foremost, if I had the chance to change only one thing, I'd start with the source material and I'd make the Dance more closely parallel history, that is, I would make the Dance a conflict between an only daughter and her cousin or uncle. It could be Rhaenyra vs. Daemon, or Rhaenyra vs. Laenor, or Rhaenyra vs. a character who doesn't exist currently in canon. Personally, I think the perfect setup already existed for a Rhaenyra vs. Daemon Dance, and I think that could have been quite a lot of fun. Alternately, Rhaenyra vs. Laenor could have been very interesting depending on how they played it.

George wants to parallel the Anarchy, but making the Dance a civil war between an older daughter and a younger son instead of a daughter and a cousin makes the entire premise of the war completely different, and it's just not a realistic conflict for a medieval hereditary monarchy that otherwise practices some form of male preference primogeniture, unless you introduce a secondary disqualifying element for the male heir (like religion, madness/incompetence, foreign influence, rumored bastardy), and the Dance doesn't even do that. England did not have absolute primogeniture until 2013, and there was no country in the entire world that practiced absolute primogeniture before 1980. The pushback against a daughter taking the throne over a son would have been tremendous even while Viserys was alive, not just a few lords whispering, and then when you add on the bastardy of Rhaenyra's sons, well, the king can only cut out so many tongues before people start calling him a tyrant. Empress Matilda was not only her father's chosen heir, she was his only legitimate living child, and still she was successfully challenged by a man who was her cousin, and not even the oldest cousin. I think this decision to make Rhaenyra and Aegon brother and sister had a negative ripple effect across the story, and actually undermines the role misogyny played in the real life Anarchy.

Eddie knew you were going to be here, he knew he was going to have to see you smiling and hear your laugh from across the room and he prepared himself for that. What he didn’t prepare himself for was seeing a ring on your left hand, a solid gold slap in the face that let him know you moved on. He first saw a glimpse of it from across the room when you gave Steve a hug, he thought maybe he was just seeing things and that his mind was playing a cruel trick on him but then he saw him. A tall man who looked like he just walked out of a biker bar with his leather vest covered in patches and long blonde hair styled in a low ponytail, sling his arm over your shoulder as he went to shake Steve’s hand.

“Are you going to stare at her all night or go say hello?” Robin asks as she nudges Eddie in the side before taking a sip of her drink.

“Do you know him?” Robin rolls her eyes at how easily Eddie avoids her question. He turns his head so he can look at her, even after years of friendship Robin still always seems to surprise him with her bluntness.

“Who? Charlie?” Eddie just nods, making a mental note of the man’s name. “Yeah he’s cool. Rides a motorcycle. He’s actually really nice.” Robin answers as Eddie turns and looks over at you again. You’re laughing at something Steve said and Charlie was just looking down at you with a smile on his face, similar to the way Eddie used to watch you laugh, he’s always thought you had the best laugh. “He reminds me of you actually.” Robin states with a shrug, as if it’s the most causal thing in the world to say to him.

“What?” Robin ignores the shock in his voice and just glances over at Charlie who was now telling Steve and Nancy a story while you rested your hand on his chest.

“You can’t look at him and not see some of yourself. The vest? The long hair? Don’t get me started on his musical preferences.” Eddie rolls his eyes as he absentmindedly fiddles with the ring on his index finger. “She has a type I’ll give her that. But really just go say hi and stop being fucking weird.” With that Robin gives Eddie’s back a pat before she walks off to go join Max and Lucas who were in the middle of an argument with Dustin.

As he watches Robin walk away Eddie can’t help but think back to the last time he was standing in the middle of Steve’s living room. He feels his heart drop as the memory floods his mind just as your eyes drift over to him from across the room.

“What do you mean it’s over?” Steve’s eyes are the size of golf balls as Eddie paces his living room. “I just saw you two last night and you looked all gross and in love and shit.” He adds as Eddie runs his hands through his hair and lets out a groan.

“Because I’m a fucking idiot.” Eddie stops pacing and runs a hand down his face as Steve stands in front of him with his hands on his hips waiting for him to explain what’s going on. “I said…I said some shit man and there’s no going back from it.” Steve’s face drops as he watches Eddie’s eyes get glossy. While him and the metal head have been friends for a while he’s never seen this side of Eddie, usually Dustin was the one he went to when he was hurting.

“I mean was it just a fight? Just say sorry and move on.” This was Steve’s go to solution for any argument and Eddie just rolls his eyes at the suggestion. “I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what you said.” Eddie let out sigh as he looked up at Steve’s ceiling.

“I told her,” Steve watches as Eddie takes a deep breath and slowly lets it out trying to control his emotions so he can tell him exactly what happened. “I told her this is pointless. That there’s no happily ever after for us so it’s best if we just end it now to save us the time and heartache of waiting to do it later and then…I left. I left her standing there on her front steps…shouting for me and I didn’t…I didn’t turn around I just left.” Eddie feels his eyes start to sting as he looks at Steve who looks as if he just got punched in the gut the way his mouth is hanging open and his eyes are wide.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” His voice is harsh as he quickly breaks out of his state of shock to give Eddie a piece of his mind. Eddie just shrugs as he wipes at his eyes trying his best to hide the few tears that slipped out. “You told me you wanted to marry her.” Steve snaps as he runs a hand through his hair as he begins pacing trying his best to think of a possible solution but knowing deep down there probably wasn’t one.

“Oh come on Harrington. We graduate in a few weeks and she’s going to college and I’ll be lucky if I just get a decent job. What the fuck do I have to offer?” Steve rolls his eyes as Eddie explains himself because he knows this is what Eddie does, he pushes people away when he feels like they are getting too close.

“That’s bullshit and you know it.” Eddie looks down at his feet as Steve stops pacing. “You’re scared.” Eddie’s eyes shoot up to find Steve glaring at him. “I know you won’t admit it so I’ll do it for you. You’re terrified of how much you love her so instead of just allowing it to happen and letting her love you, in true Munson style you go and fuck it up on purpose.” Eddie swallows the lump in his throat as Steve lets him have it, his tone is harsh and Eddie just takes it because you are Steve’s best friend, that’s how he met you after all.

“She deserves better than me.” Eddie mumbles as Steve just stands there and watches Eddie fall apart in the middle of his living room. “So much better than me.” Steve just lets out a sigh as he closes the distance between the two of them so he can wrap his arms around Eddie bringing him in for a hug.

“Maybe she does.” Steve answers as he gives Eddie’s back a little pat as he hears him sniffle. “Maybe you’re right and this is for the best.” He adds as he pulls away from Eddie who is wiping his eyes with the back of his jacket sleeve.

“Did you just tell me I’m right?” Steve rolls his eyes as a chuckle escapes his lips, of course Eddie would try to joke in the middle of his breakdown. “Thanks Steve.” Eddie looks at Steve who just shrugs and gives him a reassuring smile.

“Its weird being back here isn’t it?” Eddie feels his cheeks get hot as your voice pulls him from his thoughts, he didn’t even notice you walk over to him from across the room.

“A little.” He answers as he takes the time to look at you. Your hair is a little longer and he can see your sense of style hasn’t changed as you stand there in a pair of jeans and a simple band t shirt but most importantly your smile is just as beautiful as he remembers.

“Harrington has always loved a house party.” You joke making Eddie chuckle as he brings his cup up to his lips to take a sip. “So how have you been?” You look at him and smile as you realize nothing about him has changed minus the tiny bit of facial hair and some of his rings have been replaced with newer looking ones, other than that he still looked like the long haired metal head you knew and loved in high school.

“I’ve been good.” You watch his eyes dart around the room almost like he was avoiding looking you in your eyes. “Opened my own shop, Wayne is retired now.” You smile at the mention of Wayne, he was always so nice to you back then. “Uh how about you?” Eddie asks as he finally looks you in the eyes and he feels like his heart might burst at how warm and inviting they are, another thing about you that hasn’t changed. Just as you open your mouth to respond you feel a hand on your lower back and you turn to look over your shoulder.

“Sorry took me so long I got stopped by uh I think his name is Dustin?” You smile as Charlie hands you a bottle of water. “He asked me if I could show him how to ride one day.” Eddie and you laugh as you shake your head no making Charlie raise an eyebrow.

“Absolutely not.” You and Eddie say at the same time making Eddie’s cheek flush as you laugh.

“Henderson on a motorcycle is a horrible idea he is clumsy and doesn’t pay attention to where he’s walking half the time so yeah, not putting him on a bike.” You explain making Charlie just nod his head as he looks over at Eddie who is taking a sip of his drink. “Oh I’m sorry. Charlie this is Eddie Munson.” You smile at Eddie as Charlie reaches a hand out towards him.

“Nice to meet you. Heard a lot about you.” Eddie feels his face drop as he sees a matching gold band on Charlie’s ring finger as his left hand comes up to rest on top of your shoulder giving it a little squeeze.

“All good I hope?” Eddie asks making Charlie just chuckle and nod as you smile up at him. “So uh how did you two meet?” He doesn’t know why but he can’t stop himself from asking.

“He came into the coffee shop I was working at while in school one day and then showed up everyday for like three weeks until he finally got brave enough to ask for my number.” Eddie watches your face light up as you tell the story, Charlie shrugs as you give his chest a playful pat with your free hand.

“She’s intimidating.” Charlie jokes and Eddie just nods because he’s not wrong, you may look sweet and polite but you also give off a very distinct vibe that you’re not to be messed with.

“Oh totally.” Eddie agrees making you roll your eyes at both of them.

“Says the ones who look like they belong on the cover of Metal Hammer magazine.” You motion between the two of them and Eddie looks down at his outfit and then over to Charlie and he can’t help but feel as if Charlie is just the blonde biker version of himself.

“I’m flattered.” Eddie teases as he places a hand on his chest. You laugh as Charlie leans down and places a kiss to the top of your head making Eddie look away as if he was intruding on a private moment.

“Do you mind going to get my cardigan from the car?” You ask as you look up at Charlie, he looks from you over to Eddie and gives you a little nod before placing a kiss to your cheek. “Thank you.” You say over your shoulder as Charlie makes his way through Steve’s crowded living room.

“You look happy.” Eddie’s voice is soft and low as he swirls his drink around in his cup, you bite your bottom lip as you nod your head.

“I am,” Eddie just rubs his lips together as you take a small step closer to him. “I’m sorry if this is weird for you I didn’t…I didn’t know you’d be here.” You admit as you reach up and place a hand on his arm, Eddie looks down at your hand and feels his heart crumble as he realizes you only came to this little reunion party because you thought he wasn’t going to.

“Don’t apologize.” You look up at him as you remove your hand from his arm. “I’m the one who owes you an apology. I was…such a fucking idiot. I blew it and I’m sorry.” His words hit you like a ton of bricks as he looks you in the eyes.

“Eddie…” He just shakes his head as he polishes off his drink.

“Don’t.” He gives you a pleading look making your heart drop. “It’s okay. I know you’re happier now and that’s all I’ve ever wanted for you.” You watch him swallow hard as he gives you a small smile. “I just want you to be happy.” You watch his eyes fall down to the ring on your left hand. You don’t miss the way his jaw slightly clenches as he stares at it, you can’t help but feel overwhelmed as Eddie’s words sink in, finally giving you the apology you longed for all those years ago when he broke your heart.

“I uh,” You feel your eyes start to sting as Eddie lets out a sigh and runs his free hand through his hair. “I’m going to go see if Nancy needs help with anything. It was nice seeing you Eddie.” Before he can say anything you turn around and he’s left standing there watching you disappear into Steve’s kitchen.

“Fuck.” Eddie mumbles as he turns to toss his empty cup into the trash. He isn’t alone more than a minute before he feels a hand on his back.

“I should’ve warned you.” Steve’s voice is soothing as he gives Eddie’s back a soft pat. “I honestly didn’t think you’d show up so I figured it would be fine.” He adds as Eddie turns so he can face him.

“It’s fine. It seems no one thought I’d show up.” Steve just shrugs, Eddie has been invited to numerous events and parties over the years and Steve can count on one hand how many he actually attended.

“So…you met Charlie.” Eddie just nods and Steve can’t help but feel bad, he knows even after all this time Eddie’s never fully moved on from you. “He’s a good guy.” Steve knows it’s not what he wants to hear but he also knows it’s what Eddie needs to hear.

“I should’ve tried to get her back.” Steve sighs as Eddie looks over his shoulder so he can see into the kitchen where he spots you laughing as you help Nancy make drinks while Charlie stands off to the side talking to Mike, your cardigan tossed over his shoulder.

“Well you didn’t.” Steve knows he’s being harsh but he knows someone has to say it. “You didn’t fight to get her back so she moved on. Now it’s your turn okay? You’ve got to let her go man.” Eddie feels Steve’s hand on his shoulder giving it a hard squeeze.

“Yeah…you’re right.” Eddie just gives him a soft nod. “I’ve got to let her go.” Steve watches him slowly look away from you.

“Did you just agree that I’m right?” Eddie rolls his eyes as Steve smiles at him, Eddie won’t ever admit it but he’s always been grateful for how easy and comfortable Steve makes it to move on from serious conversations.

“Don’t tell anyone.” Eddie tries his best to sound threatening but it doesn’t work due to the smile on his face as he says it.

“Oh I’m telling everyone.” Steve jokes as he turns and heads off towards Dustin. “Henderson you’ll never believe what Munson just said.” Eddie quickly follows behind Steve before Dustin can even react to what’s happening.

“Don’t believe him Henderson he’s been inhaling too many Farrah Fawcett fumes.” Steve rolls his eyes as Dustin raises an eyebrow at the two of them. Steve watches as Eddie visibly relaxes as he’s surrounded by his old Hellfire crew. Eddie spends most of the evening on the couch with Dustin, Lucas and Will getting bombarded with questions about what he’s been up to while also getting the inside scoop on what they’ve been getting into in their lives as well.

He doesn’t look for you until he hears your voice announcing to Steve that you’re leaving. He stands up from the couch just in time to see Charlie helping you slide your arms into your cardigan before you lean in and give Steve a hug goodbye, your eyes finding Eddie’s over his shoulder when you pull away. Eddie just raises his hand in a small wave as you offer him a smile, he knows this probably the last time he’s going to see you so he takes a mental picture of how good you look with a smile on your face, wanting it to replace the memory of the last time he saw you with tears running down your cheeks and the look of heartbreak on your face. He watches you turn and grab Charlie’s hand as he leads you out Steve’s front door, he watches as you don’t look back at him like he thought you might. When the front door closes it hits Eddie that you’re really gone, not just from the party but from his life as well and for the first time in what feels like forever Eddie feels okay, you’re happy and that’s all he’s ever wanted for you.

hello friends! just wanted to toss my hat in the ring and put out some feelers.

i’ll preface this as I’m not looking to replace any current partners, just looking to add some more!

my name is bria, i’m 25, and a dog mom to the cutest pitbull alive! pronouns are she/her. Currently in the EST timeline, living in the land of snow and he best football team. i’ve been roleplaying almost half of my life so i have tons of experience to bring to the table.

Hello all,

I hope you find the below information helpful (thank you to @thegayhimbo for providing a template on how to do this)

Below you will mostly find information on my writing but I want you to know who you're following so I'll let you know a little about me too.

All about me

I'm a twenty-four-year-old woman living in wonderful Australia (AEST). I have had this blog for a very long time but only became active over the last three years and only started writing early last year. I'm also busy studying to get a bachelor's in a helping profession. I have a dog and a cat and I love them more than anything.

My blog

First and foremost, please don't follow me if you're under the age of 18. I don't want you here, especially considering the content of what I post. I do not make exceptions even if you coming to talk to me about something that is safe for work.

I am passionate about many social issues and will share posts about them from time to time. I have been told from knee-high that I'm opinionated and I'm very happy to share said opinions. Bigots of any shape will be blocked.

Ig for those curious, here are the weapons I think each dbz character ive drawn currently would use in the splatoon au thing I drew

Goku-

Krak on splat roller/splattershot (mainly rollers) He went through using alot of weapons before deciding on the krak on roller. He used to be very indecisive on what he wanted to use.

Vegeta-

Splat dualies (or any dualies in general, prefers using the enperry dualies) he likes being really aggressive, and using dualies help him achieve that. Depending on what he feels like doing, he will use different dualies. He hardly ever uses the dualie squelchers though.

Krillin-

Doesn't participate in turf wars as often anymore, but he often uses Luna blaster. He often did matches with goku as a duo, and would pick a weapon that would be good support for goku's. He also occasionally uses nzap. Plays more salmon run.

Chichi- also doesn't participate very much, but she was a good splatana wiper player. Plays any splatana. She used to be a competitive player, though played less and less after marrying goku. She still plays turf wars occasionally, more often when goku, or her children do.

Yamcha- local tentabrella user, 5 starred v tentabrella though is still figuring out how exactly to use it. He often changes weapons now bc he wants to find a cooler weapon to main.

Bulma- Ink brush player, prefers nouveau over v ink brush. She occasionally uses other brushes and took interest in learning splatanas.

Gohan- Heavy splating deco user. He sometimes plays rollers, but loves using splatlings alot more. Will play any he feels like, but the heavy deco is his favorite.

Trunks- 52 gal user. He uses any of the gal weapons, but occasionally uses dapple dualies if he feels like it.

Goten- splat roller user. He uses any rollers, but also is pretty good with squiffer. His goal is often to be as irritating as possible.

Tien- Splat charger user. He uses any charger, but prefers the regular splat charger.

Bardock- carbon roller deco user. His play style and quick and aggressive, and he often goes for front line weapons when he feels like doing something different. Often plays ranked/anarchy.

Gine- Undercover brella user. She often swaps between v undercover and undercover sorella brella. She'll use any other brella if she feels like it, and also occasionally uses e-liter. She also often plays ranked/anarchy.

King vegeta- Splat dualies user. He'll use any dualies, but prefers v splat dualies.

Raditz- Dynamo roller user. I just think this weapon would fit him. He's fond of heavy hitting weapons, though is still learning how to use them properly. Often swaps between the dynamos.

Turles- octobrush user. He's also grown pretty fond of using the painbrushes, often swapping between them. He's one of those toxic players that taunt after every kill and just mess with people in general. He's also a sore loser. Don't be like him kids

Frieza doesn't play in turf wars. If he DID though he'd use splatana stamper.

Broly(dbs) - heavy splatling user. He'll use any splatling, but heavy is the one he loves using the most. He's still new to turf wars, often playing anarchy with goku and vegeta as they show him the ropes.

Paragus- dualie squelchers user. He found teaching Broly to be frustrating. He was good at fighting and was strong, but he never really took to using the dualies like he had hoped. Man really wanted his son to like his main weapon

Mostly based off of my own headcanons n all that, there'll be more as I think of them but this post is already long enough. If you have questions about the au, feel free to ask!

Idk about the story yet, it's not gonna be 100% a reflection of dbz canon, cause all of it cannot be replicated into splatoon, not every aspect of dbz or dbs will be incorporated either, that'd be alot lmao

I find it ironic that a certain part of the fandom says "tradition and custom" is not law, that aegon ii had no rights because Andal law is just a custom, but they cry that rhaenys targaryen, the queen who never was, had her birthright stolen by jaehaerys I for baelon. I wonder if they know that rhaenys were entitled precisely because of these "traditions and customs" as Prince Aemon's only child; she had no younger brothers with a better claim than her. And what about Jeyne Arryn and Rhea Royce, who also became the "heads" from their houses because of that, due to the absence of brothers.

It's definitely an funny little quandary, especially given what we know about inheritance laws in Westeros. George straight up says that a son inherits over a daughter everywhere in Westeros except Dorne, and things only really get complicated after there are no sons and a daughter's claim is pitted against her uncles, cousins, etc. I can see why they selected Baelon over Rhaenys to be designated the heir, since Baelon the only son of the ruling king, and a son coming before a granddaughter makes some sense in a male-preference primogeniture system.

Once Baelon's death left Jaehaerys without any direct heir, then Rhaenys claim on behalf of Laenor becomes the clear front runner, as she's both older than Viserys and the heir of the first son and originally designated heir. That's still how it would be in the show where Laenor is removed, so either way we have a violation of law, custom and tradition in the name of the monarch's preferences. At least in Jaehaerys' case he did it with the backing of most of the realm, whereas Viserys created a succession crisis then pretended it didn't exist.

This is also why it makes no sense in F&B that Otto and the Greens keep pointing to the decision of 92 AC and the Council of 101, when they could just point to Aegon the conqueror being lord of Dragonstone over Visenya, his older sister (that and the Seven Kingdoms, none of whom seem to have had a queen in their histories save Dorne). But as @lemonhemlock has pointed out before, George wanted to ape The Anarchy of English history with his own Dance, despite the circumstances of the two being completely incomparable.

None of this really shocks me, George also ignores Jeyne's own circumstances to justify her supporting Rhaenyra because Girl Power, and plenty within the fandom view Daemon as a victim of Rhea Royce and not vice versa. It is what it is, regrettably.

What is your interpretation of Viserys's character? It's amazing how grrm made the man who literally single handedly destroyed his family's legacy and started the bloodiest civil war in Westros a "joyful generous king who wants everyone to get along" it's like grrm wanted the fault of the dance to be on Alicent and Aegon not Vissy for some reason

Thanks anon! This is an excellent question.

So I actually don't think that GRRM meant for Alicent or Aegon to take the full blame for the Dance. If you read F&B and World of Ice and Fire, remembering that those books are not written in GRRM's authorial voice, but by in-world maesters who are compiling histories, you'll see that the authors of those books are not very complimentary about Viserys. However, they are diplomatic about it. He was a king who ruled for several decades, and he was not hated by the people at the time of his death. The scholarship of maesters like Gyldayn and Yandel is also pretty surface level. Still, Yandel all but blames Viserys for the Dance, saying that Viserys "had ruled for six-and-twenty years, reigning over the most prosperous era in the history of the Seven Kingdoms but seeding within it the disastrous decline of his house and the death of the last dragons." He might be called amiable and generous, but weighing against that, he's also called weak-willed, easily influenced, and anxious to please. Those are not really complimentary qualities when discussing kingship. The books stop short of calling Viserys a bad king on the level of Aegon IV or Aerys II, but they're not particularly complimentary towards him either.

And here's the thing. Ensuring a clean succession is one of a king's most important jobs. A smooth transition of power is essential for the stability of the realm, and a disputed succession was to be avoided at all costs. Throughout real life history, you will see examples of kings going out of their way to ensure that there is one clear heir who will inherit upon their death. It is the king's responsibility to ensure that the succession is clear, that the heir is prepared to rule, and that the heir has sufficient support to rule. There is a reason why, although the often repeated "the king's word is law" phrase might have some base truth to it, most kings followed established lines of succession and did not just choose their favorite child, or even the child they believed best suited to rule. Enduring the occasional less than ideal king was the price paid for a peaceful transition of power, and for ensuring that the method by which power was peacefully transferred from one monarch to the next, remained stable.

So in real life feudal monarchies, when succession crises happened, it was usually because of some unexpected event. The Anarchy that the Dance is based on happened because King Henry I lost his only son, William Adelin, in a shipwreck. The boy was already seventeen at the time, and when he died, Henry tried to have more sons with his second wife, but was unsuccessful. His only other legitimate child was a daughter, Matilda, who eventually became his heir following the rules of male preference primogeniture, although his nephews were in consideration at one point. Likewise, Edward the Black Prince, heir to Edward III, died before his father did. Unlike William Adelin, however, Edward the Black Prince had a son, Richard II, who became Edward III's heir. When Richard II became king he was still a child, and had to contend with very powerful adult uncles who became powerful as his regents, and their sons, who did not want to give up power when Richard II came of age. This situation eventually led to the War of the Roses. There are also succession crises in which a king who dies childless is also the last of his direct line, such as Henry III of France, the last Valois king. In this situation the next claimant might come through a female line or a more senior male line, but it's rarely clear cut. But these are generally unusual or unexpected situations rather than the result of a king's willful refusal to do his duty and ensure a clean succession.

Viserys had options for avoiding the Dance, the easiest and most obvious being simply making his eldest son his heir upon his birth. He had every indication that his insistence on keeping Rhaenyra as heir would lead to a succession crisis after his death, and yet he did nothing to avert it. He had no intention of codifying new succession laws to allow daughters to inherit over sons, instead he imagined succession as a free for all, king's choice, which is bound to lead to conflict and is a terrible idea in a kingdom ruled by dragonriders. Viserys inherited a prosperous and stable kingdom and arguably the most important job he had was to keep it stable, and yet he created a succession crisis out of nothing, for no good reason. Neither Rhaenyra nor Aegon turned out to be particularly good rulers in their short reigns, but only one of them could have taken the throne as uncontested heir, and that is Aegon. Had Aegon been named heir from the start, there would have been no one to contest him (Rhaenyra's claim lies solely on being her father's chosen heir, if she's isn't, she has no claim), and no war.

What would compel Viserys to completely trash his own succession? I think in the books, it is left up to interpretation. Was Viserys stupid, willfully ignorant, or a malicious narcissist? Certainly, although he was supposedly a people pleaser, no one in his family was very pleased by his decisions, and it's hard to imagine the Red Keep a happy household when Viserys deliberately drove a wedge between his children and created a situation that everyone knew would one day lead to war. I'm going to tag @aifsaath because she has some good Viserys thoughts regarding the possibility that Viserys wasn't just a bumbling idiot, but actively malicious.
