notes: no spoilers, gn!reader, fluff, ren amamiya for persona 5 protagonist

minato arisato

a bit nervous, but shows it by being a bit more quiet and shy than usual.

hides his gaze under his lil emo bangs as he asks to kiss you!

probably in his room after hanging out all day at the strip mall

"hey, um, do you want to, like... kiss? maybe?"

you're ecstatic and your heart quickens at his cute look and shy demeanour. he was just adorable!

you agree, and he leans in with his hands on his knees. he's about to press his lips to yours when he brushes his bangs from his eyes (just so they don't get in the way)

his lips are decently soft, if not a bit chapped (in his defense, it's been a cold autumn so far). he's a bit tentative when kissing but overall he's just a bit nervous about your boundaries!

gives you the cutest look when pulling back.

probably asks you to kiss him first while on a walk on the hill overlooking inaba!

he stops walking, his hand in yours, and turns to look at you. he grabs your other hand and smiles as his eyes meet yours

"it's been a great day so far. thanks for going out with me." he flashes you one of those charming grins - god, they melt your heart!

"of course," you reply, "i love spending any time with you."

"yeah." yu replies, seeming a bit... out of it. like something else is on his mind.

"what's up?" you tilt your head and yu can't help but find it super cute!

"it's just-- i... okay, listen, you're super cute and i'm so lucky to be your boyfriend, may i kiss you?"

wow. that came out... all at once. after recovering from his quick word vomit, you nod with a blush on your cheeks. with that affirmation, yu moves in slowly.

he lifts one hand to cup the bottom of your chin and leans in. his eyes shut gently and he presses his lips to yours.

he's firm yet gentle, definitely sweet. he's probably kissed people before, but none of that matters when he pulls back and looks into your eyes with the most adoring gaze you've ever seen

ren amamiya

he's been acting strange all week. walking you to and from places, stammering and trailing off his words... hell, he's even been acting fidgety in the metaverse when he usually dons the persona (heh) of the confident joker, leader of the phantom thieves!

eventually, it gets to be so much that you confront him after an excursion to mementos.

as you two are walking back from the subway, you pull him aside.

"hey... is something up? you've been acting weird all week, and i'm getting worried. you know you can tell me anything, right?" you ask.

ren glances aside, not really feeling like being honest. instead, he only mutters, "can we go to my room?" in response.

it makes you start a bit, but you understand the sentiment. he wants to talk alone.

so, you two go to the attic above leblanc and sit down on the edge of his bed. he, once again, starts to fidget.

"what's on your mind, ren?" you ask.

"i just... uh..." ren's lip trembles slightly as he tries to explain. he eventually gives in with a sigh. "we've never, like, kissed, have we?"

you pause. "no...? no, we haven't."

it's a moment before ren responds, smiling. he pushes up his glasses.

"i think we should." wow, okay. smooth ren is back. but he's still a bit of a dork, especially with those glasses.

"like, right now?" "right now. if you want to, that is." "duh i want to, idiot!" you scoot closer to him and smile softly at him, waiting for him to make the first move. he suggested it, after all.

ren moves closer and soon closes the distance with a kiss. his hair tickles your forehead. you kiss back as one of your hands finds its way to hold his, your fingers intertwining.

when he pulls away, he's still smiling, but he isn't trying to hide his blushing cheeks.

"...you're free all evening, right? wanna do that some more?"

Azriel X Rhys sister oc (but Rhys Centric kinda?! Rhys and Az angst?)

Summary: HOFAS bonus chapter inspired. Azriel and his mate Y/N Moonbeam aka Rhysands little sister have been hiding for over 50 years. When her older brother finds out he is anything but happy.

She and Azriel had been seeing each other secretly for over 50 years now. They had been through hell and back together, finding out about Rhysand under the mountain, Supporting her brother with his mate, fighting a damned war, and even finding out they were mates. Not once did either of them let on to their secret relationship, always passing each other with cold glances and curt words. The only form of kindness shown was on important occasions. But the minute they were alone, when they got back to their secret apartment, they were perfectly fine.

That was until Rhysand barged into Azriel’s apartment yelling something about Nesta telling Feyre something about their babe and found the two of them laying on the floor. Y/N reading and Azriel mulling over paperwork with a biscuit. In an instant, albeit a second too late, Azriel’s wing was covering her. Rhysands words fell away and he stood still, she could see him just barely through her mate's wing but she knew that her older brother could smell her.

“Azriel,” Rhysand growled out. With a knowing sight, Azriel released his wing that covered Y/N’s frame, not hiding her wings.

The moment Rhysands eyes found her matching violet ones he turned and walked out, slamming the door. She turned her head to her mate whose eyes were glazed over in silent conversation, she decided to listen to what Rhys had told him.

“Do we go? We should probably give him time to calm down shouldn’t we?” She asked, staring at Azriel’s golden eyes. He just nodded quietly.

Silently and with deathly calmness they gathered themselves and flew to the river house. She winced as they walked in the door, taking in the ruined vases and the loud shouting of her other brother and sister trying to calm Rhysand down.

“I DO NOT CARE. THAT IS MY SISTER.” He screamed at Cassian. She turned to Azriel, putting a hand on his chest to stop him,

“Maybe I should go in there alone.” She offered. And with a short nod he agreed, before she could walk away he grabbed her arm, and with a deadly voice he spoke,

“If he even thinks about yelling at you I will be in there. I will just be right outside.” Then he let go so she could enter the room. When she did she gasped at the sight of her older brother.

“Rhysand,” she spoke firmly, only slightly scared as his raging eyes turned on her.

“Is that bastard here?!” He spoke.

“It doesn’t matter, Rhysand.” She went to place her hand on his arm when he flinched away and stared at her with disgust.

“Don’t even get me started on you.” He raised his voice, tears springing to her eyes at his reaction. The pair of them had always been as thick as thieves, never staying mad, and definitely never yelling at each other like this.

In an instant, Azriel was behind her, hands on her waist to inform her he was behind her. Her brother didn’t even glance at the male behind her before continuing,

“I can’t believe you slept with my brother like some common whore.” He spat out like a slap in the face, he knew what she had been through, what she had done for him while he was under the mountain. A cry fell out of her mouth, his words inflicting more pain than any physical blow could.

Before she could say anything the entire room went still, the bottom half of the room covered in angry shadows. Before she could blink her mate had her brother around the throat against the wall.

“Be very careful how you talk about my mate,” Azriel growled, she could feel his anger festering through the bond. She sent a comforting phantom hand over his shoulder.

“Your mate?!” Rhysand laughed, “That’s hilarious brother, no one could ever love a bastard like you. We all know it, just admit it Azriel, you aren’t capable of loving a female.”

And then it was Y/N who was on top of her brother, facing him with a slap that resonated throughout the entire room. Not a single soul spoke as the sound of flesh meeting flesh echoed through the room. Not even Feyre said anything as her sister-in-law hit her mate.

“Fuck you Rhysand.” She yelled. “Fuck you for reacting like this! You are nothing but a cowardly piece of shit. You blame everyone else for everything that is your fault. Did you ever stop and think as to why we didn’t tell you?!” She yelled, Rhysands mouth opened to respond but she continued, “No Rhysand, you don’t get to speak. Maybe if for once in your godsforsaken life actually looked at anyone other than your mate you see that the people around you are going through shit! You would see the face that Elain is on the verge of breaking, that Nesta was going through something none of us could possibly imagine, that Cassian was coping and that I, your fucking sister, was traumatized. I get it Rhysand, what you went through under the mountain, trust me I get it, but it does not give you the right to treat everyone else like shit because they don’t react the same way you do to trauma. You do not get to sit here and act like my brother trying to defend my honor when you haven’t actually acted like a decent brother for the past 3 years!” She screamed in his face.

She gave him one more resounding slap before standing up and finding Azriels hands.

“Do not come find us brother, for I do not want to see your pitiful face.”

Then, hand in hand with her mate, they left. They both flew, flew for hours till they were at the cabin Azriel had built for his mother before she passed. When they arrived and got out of the cold she sunk to her knees, tears finally flowing.

Az’s rough hands came to hold her face, “Shh my love, he is not worthy of your tears.” He murmured into her hair. Instead of trying to calm her again he just let her cry, not once letting her go, instead instructing his shadows to gather water and blankets.

So she fell asleep crying in his arms over the hurt her brother had caused. And when she woke she found Azriel’s dark hair. She stared at him as her fingers twirled in the onyx strands.

“You know what he said wasn’t true right, you know how to love and you are worthy of it Azriel. You and I are the proof, this right here,” she gestured in between the two, lightly pulling on the golden ribbon that flowed between them. “This is the proof. I love you beyond words Azriel. I know you feel the same shadow singer.” She told him. Observing as his hands tightened around her waist. They had both suffered far too much to let the words of her cruel brother diminish all the progress they had made.

It wasn’t easy at the beginning, getting Azriel to open up and come to accept himself. It took him years to realize he was worthy of her love. That he wasn’t a broken bastard.

“I love you beyond the sun and the stars, I would travel worlds for you Azriel. And if the stars would vanish then I would voyage through the darkness with nothing but my bare hands to find you.” She whispered, “I would rip the wings off my back if yours were ruined because I know how much you need to fly. I would kill gods and kings alike to ensure you are safe. For as long as I am alive you will no longer be alone ever again, you will always be loved. I will always love every part of you.” She brought his scarred hands to her lips and kissed the skin on them. When she released his hands her lips found his mouth.

“There are not enough words in this world for me to express my love for you Y/N Moonbeam, So instead let me show you.” He spoke against her lips before moving his kiss down her neck.

And show her he did.

As the leader of the Phantom Thieves, Akira is busy preparing for heists and fighting Shadows. But not just for being a leader of a mysterious infamous group, he’s busy everywhere. Ranking up confidants, fusing Personas, stocking supplies, studying, Akira’s been dealt with a lot of responsibilities since he got to Tokyo.

Eating at Big Bang Burger all the time and doing those challenges isn’t healthy on a regular basis. He does eat out with the team and his confidants sometimes. And Sojiro does cook breakfast for him on occasion.

But he will have a tendency to overwork himself and forget his own needs. He’s also taking care of Morgana, another mouth to feed besides himself. During lunchtime, Akira would either share his meal or just give it to Morgana.

Though since Morgana is known to keep track of his bedtime, the cat will make reminders for him to eat. The talking feline does pride himself for being responsible.

But you making food for him will send his heart soaring. He’s a lanky male, not too thin, but not so muscular, so he could still go for some more meat in his bones. It’s not only a sweet gesture but also an efficient way to help feed your hardworking boyfriend. He may even blush a little from the adoring sentiment.

Making bentos for him? Touching. Making matching bentos for the two of you? Adorable. Especially if you’re putting great details in the lunches, like making cute faces in the shape of animals and such. Akira will tease that it looks far better to admire, but he’ll happily finish the bento until there’s nothing left. He’s never been a picky eater so he’s open to try anything you make.

Learning about your cooking skills definitely impresses him. Akira likes to improve his own culinary abilities. Working with Sojiro behind the counter helped him discover that passion. So being a phenomenal cook, he’d gladly ask for tips and advice once in a while.

Akira finds himself astounded that someone like him, someone carrying a false criminal record serving probation in an unfamiliar place alone, could have such a loving girlfriend caring for him. He always makes sure to not let you forget his own affections and how much everything you do means.

It becomes a routine for you two to meet up at lunchtime and eat together. Sitting side by side closely, across with legs touching. There’s no doubt that Akira will happily reciprocate in taking turns making meals for you both. A good way to practice his cooking skills despite his busy schedule. If you were to ever be unable to make it, Akira will feel your absence greatly.

Breakfast? Probably best to have something easier to eat as you walk to Shujin side by side on weekdays. It is true as they say that to a person’s heart in general is through the stomach. If you stopped by carrying food filled containers to eat at LeBlanc, Sojiro has no problem with it. He does agree that Akira should be mindful of eating. Depending on if said containers are washable, he’ll let you keep them at the café until you take them back.

Feeding each other is a thing in private. When no one is there, Akira will offer a piece of food to your lips, expression cheeky. It’s something you’d only do behind closed doors.

And in reverse, he’s happy to welcome a spoonful from you. Wiping a stain on his mouth gets him a bit bashful. A napkin? Cute. Your own tongue? Now his face got even redder.

But beware, the leader of the Phantom Thieves has tricks up his sleeve. He’ll reciprocate the action in a sneaky way to tease back.

Dates spent cooking and eating together is very domestic and wholesome. Trying new recipes, sharing some, it’s a lovely way to spend time with one another. Though you’d probably spend that in your home rather than his. Because as nice as the coffee and curry is at the café, you’d have more privacy and space to work on. Akira always has a look in his eyes when he gazes upon you, so much so it makes you bashful every time you see it.

Food turns into a new love language between you.

And once you become adults? Naturally, living together is expected after the deepening of your relationship growing from being high school sweethearts. Cooking together becomes a real staple in your household. Working different jobs may not always let you cook together, but having the thoughtfulness of making food for the other is still as meaningful.

Phantom Thieves play a farming/life simulator game with S/O

Note: purely self-indulgent... my friends and i booted up stardew valley again so have this . .. i mainly have stardew in mind while writing, so the mechanics will be reflecting that ehe no sumi yet! i have no idea how to write her yet </3 but i am currently playing through p5r so i might add her later!

Akiren

Ahh... he enjoys this game very much. Being somewhere peaceful and quiet AND alone with you? Perhaps a dream come true! As soon as the game is loaded, he starts planting the first few seeds he receives, and then proceeds to forage for things he could sell. When he finds a few flowers, he will give them to you and will pout if you don't accept them.

"You need to meet the people in town!" you tell him as he tries to give you the flower again.

"Why? I already have you. I do not need anyone else."

Definitely the type to do most things with you. You are planting crops? He will water them. You are petting the chickens? He will feed them. You are fishing on the beach? He is right beside you, doing the same. You are going to the mines? He defends you from the mobs while you mine away. He genuinely enjoys being with you all the time (even if in this case, its in a video game).

Enjoys playing househusband as well, should you advance that far in the game, and will be the type to seriously think about the names of your children (in the game). Once the house is upgraded, and there is a kitchen, he now has another purpose. The type to collect recipes and cook, going around town giving dishes to the townspeople. The type to send you off with your 'lunch' and a "Take care! The kids and I will be waiting for you."

Ryuji

Probably giddy the first time you suggest playing the game. He will gladly agree, of course! The only thing though, he does not find the farm work to be entertaining, so you will have to do that. He does not mind taking care of the livestock though! As soon as the game starts, he'd probably hand you the seeds and go foraging instead. Probably the kind to always make sure to have something to sell at the end of the day.

He enjoys going to the mines, and so he is mainly in-charge of the upgrades. Will tend to give you a few pretty stones and/or artifacts he finds. Also the kind to 'unlock' things, such as new areas or new mechanics. He would probably go for achievements, but he's not really a completionist. More so does certain things for its benefits.

"Ryuji, I need a few earth crystals for the mayonnaise makers," you tell him as you were rearranging a few things in your farm.

"Alright babe! I also got you a diamond, by the way!"

He also tries to make your life easier while playing the game, such as letting you upgrade your backpack first, exchanges tools with you when he upgrades so that you have the better quality, and puts torches every where so you do not get lost. Will probably be blushing the whole time while you guys get married, and when you decide to have kids (in-game).

Ann

The game is so cute! Yes, she will gladly play with you! When you first boot up the game, she is a little bit overwhelmed because there are so many things to do, but she will most likely look at the journal/tasks as a guide for things to do. She does not mind doing a little bit of everything, but she mainly enjoys taking care of the livestock. She also likes designing the layout for both the farmland and the inside of the house.

"Oh my gosh! Can I buy the chickens for our coop? Our first children!" Ann gushes, having just finished up the fencing for the said coop.

"Sure, just do not forget to buy food for them as well!"

Once you guys have reached the stage where you are living comfortably, she will try to befriend everyone! Extra resources she have will be given to the townspeople, curious for the lore and a few character backstories. As for the romanceables, she asks for your permission to befriend them beforehand. It's honestly adorable.

When you guys get married, she will dress up accordingly. She is giggling the whole time, and will whisper an 'I love you' to you at the end. When you decide to have kids, she's a bit disappointed that they do not grow up. She finds it fun to put different hats on them, though!

Yusuke

He is a bit clueless at first, and will need you to guide him through most of the things. Once he gets the hang of it though, he will enjoy it. He really likes the background music and the art of the game so those are plus points for him. He tends to forget the farm chores though, as he will usually go to town to interact with different characters and see their stories.

If you let him be in-charge of the farm layout, it will be a beautiful farm guaranteed; even with just the use of flowers, crops, and some tall grasses. He asks that you do not touch it though, so you have two farms. One for profit, and one for whatever Yusuke decides it to be. He rarely goes to the mine, and almost never goes unless you invite him so you are in-charge of upgrading your tools. You, however, task him with buying things needed for the farm such as hay, seeds, etc. He accidentally bought 99 pieces of the wrong thing once though, and he apologized profusely afterwards.

"You bought 99 heaters?!"

"It was beside the hay, my love, I realized too late." Yusuke genuinely sounded apologetic, and you assured him that it was fine.

When you get married, he will give you a bunch of flowers he grew on the farm. He also tends to have a surprise for you every once in a while, like maybe an item he got while exploring, or rearranging your furniture. If you decide to have children, he diligently checks on them and does not want to leave them alone on the farm. You try to tell him it does not make a difference, but he refuses to leave them all by themselves.

Makoto

Another one who is a bit clueless. After watching a bit from you, she starts to learn though. You divide up the chores between yourselves, so that you get equal experiences. Also the one to fulfill all the side quests, even in-game she likes helping people. She finds the game as a good stress relief, given as it has a calming background music and cute art. Also enjoys exploring every new thing together.

"Makoto, will you be my partner for the festival?"

"Y-you don't need to ask. My answer is always yes."

She also likes the combat system, and will visit the mines sometimes. A casual player, she allows you to play even without her. Given that she is a very busy person, she's fine even with just updates on what is going on in the farm currently. Despite this, she somehow remembers which crops/products are the most profitable and encourages you to sell those instead.

If you decide to get married in-game, she is red in the face while the sequence is happening. She might also come back more frequently now, can't let her spouse do all the work on the farm by themselves now, eh?

Futaba

She is probably the one to initiate asking. She has played the game before, and wants to try playing with you as well. Will also probably play the game with a few mods, just to spice it up a little bit. As soon as the game loads, she plants the given seeds and goes to town to greet the people. An absolute completionist for achievements. Might play the game even if you are not online. The kind of player to advance ahead, just so she can help you later on. Despite this, she asks for your input in most things as she really likes including you in the decision-making.

"Should I put the coop near our crops so it's easier for you to navigate?" Futaba asks while she layouts the farm.

"Yes please!"

She keeps a mental list of the things she needs to do, and knows exactly what exact conditions are needed to unlock a certain thing, or the requirements to a certain event. So if you ever find yourself stuck, feel free to ask her! She also does a little bit of everything, therefore her stats are really balanced.

Married or not, she gives you an item every day. She says its a 'power-up', so you will have an easier time doing your tasks. Also, your cat's name is Morgana. She says you guys are one big family over here.

Haru

Yes! It did not take much convincing, honestly. She does not mind being completely in-charge of the crops. She tends to do a few tasks from-time-to-time, though. Especially tasks related to crops, such as bringing a cabbage to a certain person in town. She very much likes the combat system, sure it's a little simple, but she loves it. Sometimes goes to the mines just for it. Not to get an ore, but just to battle.

She gives you flowers, sometimes from foraging, and some she grew on the farm. She studies which crops are the best to grow to ensure profit and also which ones you can eat for HP and fatigue, both for when you or she goes to the mines. She might drop a few fun facts about some of the plants, too.

She is a very casual player, playing for the vibes and also as a bonding quality time with you. Thus, she likes when you ask her to do stuff with you, such as visiting another island together, or going to the mines together. When you get married, she finds it cute that the whole town attended. And to be honest... this game is giving her ideas.

"What if we start a farm that could supply our café?" Haru asks you one night.

"H-Haru! Let us focus on graduating first... "

Goro

A little hesitant to play, but he ends up playing nonetheless. He is a little bit unsure on what to do, so he ends up mimicking whatever it is you do. While he ends up enjoying the game, he will only play when you are online. If he has prior commitments, he lets you play but does not want you to play special events without him.

"Goro~ the festival tomorrow requires me having a partner. Can I ask one of the townspeople instead?"

"No. Do not even think about it. Wait for me," he leaves no room for discussion.

He also likes dividing the chores between you two, so you both get equal benefits. He likes exploring with you, but when he is not with you he is mining purely for the combat. If you ever need monster drops, he probably has a lot in his inventory. Will also redecorate your house a bit, and admittedly he likes the idea of living with you a little too much. Even if it is in-game. He is most definitely not remembering how you designed the house for later references.

He also really enjoyed watching the wedding sequence with you. Maybe one day, you can run away with him and live a peaceful life tending a farm instead? Would you say yes? Maybe it is not too late to start anew somewhere.

Ann’s first reaction is probably excitement

Like a little embarrassed and caught off guard

But definitely deep excitement

Especially since she was thinking about when she should say it to you for the first time

So of course, she’s instantly throwing her arms around you…

Kissing you all over the face….

And saying I love you too!

From now on, the two of you guys say “I love you” back forth a lot

For her, it’s really second nature and super meaningful since she didn’t spend a lot of time with parents growing up

So she loves the fact that she can now say it so openly with you!!

Makoto Nijima

You definitely took her by surprise

Like she definitely didn’t process what you said at first

But after a couple of seconds, it hits her and suddenly she’s like

BRIGHT red in the face

She probably had some night where she was debating with herself if she loved you or not (or when to even say it to you)

But she never expected you to say it to her so soon!!

She’ll probably ask you something like “Are you sure?” or even “Do you really mean that?”

And it really hesitant overall to accept that it’s true

(probably due to her relationship with her family and how tense things got after her dad died,,,, also all the student council stuff LOL)

But once you help her get over her fears, except to hear it every once and a while from her too!

Futaba Sakura

Error 404 Futaba not found moment

Really, she’ll probably like freeze up for a good while when processing what you said

And once the cogs finally get to spinning in her brain she’ll probably freak the fuck out lol

You might even get pre-socialization Futaba back tbh

She’ll be blushing really hard, waving her hands a lot, and probably shouting

And it’ll definitely take a lot to calm her down enough to get her to talk to a normal volume

And by she’ll probably ask you if you really meant it

And naturally you’d say yes because you do

But even though she accepted that “I love you” it’ll take her a little bit to say it back

But just have some patience! It’ll all be worth it in the end :]

Sumire/Kasumi Yoshizawa (but really Sumire)

She would be pleasantly surprised!

Would definitely would get a little flustered

Especially since it came out of almost nowhere one day

And was said so passionately

But probably the most ready to say “I love you too” back

Like almost instantly- and accompanied by a big hug too

And from then onwards, might be the one who says it first all the time

Probably uses it a bit more casually compared to other people

But will also have a lot of moments when she says it and she really really means it

Just overall, a bit more prepared to receive this type of affection despite everything she’s been through

There were a few facts of life that the Phantom Thieves operated by.

Yusuke would never say no to free food

Akira always fell asleep at 10 PM, no matter what

And Ryuji Sakamoto hated Goro Akechi, TV superstar.

No one knew why, but they knew. He made his distaste for the detective very well known, even though he knew his best friend was at least acquainted with Akechi, even though he knew there was a chance he could become friends with the detective, even though he knew they were more similar than he was comfortable with.

He hated Akechi. That was a fact that would never change, as long as he lived and breathed. Never.

Of effin’ course that fact changed. Every other thing stayed the same. Yusuke still accepted free food, Akira still fell asleep at 10, but Ryuji had changed. His rule had changed.

‘Rule #3: If Ryuji hates you, you probably deserve it’, that was the rule.

What did the rule say about Ryuji’s opinion on that person changing? What did it say about him realising the similarities between him and that person, realising how disgustingly similar they were and how nauseous that made him feel?

It was an unspoken, unwritten rule that a rite of passage for any new Phantom Thief was Ryuji offering an earbud to them. He had done it to Ann, to Yusuke, to Makoto, Futaba, and Haru. Yusuke and Makoto had accepted, Futaba had been okay for a little while, and Ann and Haru declined politely.

Now here he was, holding out an earbud to the one person he swore he hated. Akechi stared at him like he was insane, which, to be fair, he probably was.

After a moment of tense silence, Akechi accepted it, settling against the seat of the train with a calm melody playing. It was from the playlist he shared with Ann and Akira, compiled of all their favourite songs.

“...Is this- Risette?” Akechi asked after a moment of changed songs. Ryuji snorted, glancing at Ann.

“Yep. What, don’t like her music?”

Akechi’s furrowed brow disappeared almost at once, seeing the glances shared between Ryuji and Ann.

“No, no. Her music is fine. Not my personal taste, but... Her music is fine.”

Akira flashed Akechi a grin. “By the way, congrats on becoming the official newest member.”

Akechi paused, staring at him. Everyone knew what Akechi was- a damn traitor who was planning something, but a little voice in Ryuji’s mind whispered that offering his earbud hadn’t been an act.

Shut up, he told the voice. He still hated Akechi. He absolutely despised the detective. Definitely.

...Shit. Shit, shit, shit. Had he fallen in love? No, there was no way. There was no way he had fallen in love with Goro Akechi, of all people. No, if he were to fall in love it would be with Ann, or Haru, or... Akira.

God effin’ dammit.

“Oh! The Ryuji Rite of Passage!” Futaba said happily, and Ryuji almost jerked the earbud out of Akechi’s ear. Akechi didn’t need to know about this. He didn’t need to know anything about him. In fact, Ryuji would prefer if Akechi didn’t know shit about him.

Noticing Akechi’s look of utter bewilderment, Haru explained. “If Ryuji offers you his earbuds, it means he considers you a part of the team.”

“...So if he doesn’t offer his earbuds...?” Akechi asked, and Ryuji shrugged, somehow feigning nonchalance.

“We usually steer clear of them. Though, why they trust my judgement out of all us... They won’t tell me.”

Why, why why was he blabbing like this to him? Why was he willingly tearing down his walls, why was he doing all but effing inviting Akechi into his hesrt, leaving it wide open to steal?

Akechi simply nodded as though Ryuji wasn’t making a damn fool of himself, and settled back against the seat, closing his eyes. A different song was playing, a bit more laid back than the other two. It was almost definitely one of Akira’s songs.

If Ryuji seemed more fidgety than usual, he could blame it on the nerves from stealing Niijima-san’s heart.

“Akira, dude- Stop laughin’, what the hell!”

Ryuji had just called Akira over to tell him the (honestly terrible) news about his love life, and Akirs repaid his trust by effin laughing at him.

“This is the worst thing that could have happened!” Ryuji cried.

“This is the funniest thing that could have happened!” Akira snorted.

Ryuji made a face and groaned. Whether in agony or frustration, he decided to leave up to interpretation. “Ughhh, why couldn’t it have been Haru, or Makoto- or hell, even Ann!?”

Akira had stopped laughing by now. He was sitting on the edge of his bed, and had a gleam in his eyes that Ryuji knew meant he was contemplating something.

“...What if it had been me..?” He asked in a quiet voice, and Ryuji froze where he was pacing on the floor.

“...I dunno. Probably woulda told you and hoped nothin’ changed between us, I guess. You’re my best friend, man.”

Akira smiled, rose to his feet, and pulled Ryuji into a hug. “You’re my best friend, too. And I think- ...I think if you had confessed to me, I would have accepted it.”

“That’s kinda gay, Akira,” Ryuji joked, feeling a grin spread across his face as he hugged Akira tighter.

Akira snorted, and rested his head on Ryuji’s shoulder. “Nah, it’s only a hypothetical. Now, about your crush...”

Ryuji groaned once again, playfully pushing Akira away. Akira fell onto his bed dramatically, pretending like he was dead. Ryuji laughed harder than he had in a while, especially with Akira’s dramatic groans of agony and writhing around on his bed.

For just a little while, all was well.

Haru's yandere tendencies are very subtle, you'll never know exactly what she's thinking because she's always so bright and bubbly. It's a big reason why you'll never really notice her strange behavior. Even if you do, you don't have the heart to call her out on it.

Haru absolutely adores you, and she wholeheartedly believes you adore her too. While she's not exactly delusional, she's gaslights herself into believing any kind gesture is you trying to win her favor. In return for basic acts of curtesy, she's gifting you expensive jewelry, food, clothing, anything she thinks you'll possibly like. While I don't think her father was always terrible, I do believe she grew up with the idea that big/expensive gestures are the best ways to show someone you care, so expect to find gifts in your locker every other day.

I don't believe Haru is a stalker, she probably believes it's too extreme. However, this doesn't include online stalking. She'll watch all your social media pages, waiting for posts. This is mainly how she figures out which gifts you like, but she also figures out other things, like where you live. She never shows up unannounced, but if you're friends, she'll constantly ask to come over, not even asking where you live if you say yes.

Haru constantly talks about you to the other Phantom Thieves, it gets kind of annoying honestly. It's like she can't contain her adoration for you, she has to rant to someone. This is mostly Makoto, who doesn't have the heart to tell her she doesn't care, and Ann, who's actually really interested in the drama.

Regardless of if you're together romantically or platonically, Haru does get jealous. She never really acts on her jealousy however, but it doesn't prevent her from being passive aggressive when you hang out with someone else or show interest in something that isn't her. Haru's really good at making you feel bad, whether or not she does it intentionally you'll never know. What you do know, is that she's not afraid to pull out tears to make you look at her and only her.

On the topic of making you feel bad, as Haru's feelings develop, she realizes that it's really easy to manipulate you. She's so cute and kind, no one would believe you if she kidnapped you or hurt one of your friends. While those two would be last resorts, she's aware of the power she holds against you, and as she comes to terms with her feelings, she's not afraid to use it.

Haru might potentially use the metaverse against you. It's usually manipulating your shadow so that your feelings for her in the real-world change. She does this mostly because early on with in your relationship she feels bad for manipulating the real you. It's easier to just exploit a different version of you rather than the real-world version.

Haru definitely want's a future with you, again either platonically or romantically, it doesn't matter to her. She shows how she can provide for you, how you could live such an easy life if you just say with her. Money is just another way Haru controls/manipulates you. She always points out how poor you are compared to her, but you never really point it out because of her cute demeanor, she probably doesn't even mean it. If she comes over to your house, she'll mention how small it is and how better her home is, you should just move in with her.

Either way, Haru just loves you, and she wants to keep you safe. She knows first-hand how corrupt and terrible people can be. IF you just listen to her, follow her, love her, you'll never have to worry about anything any more.

something i think about literally all the time is how goro's powers with loki are literally the opposite of what the phantom thieves do. the phantom thieves free people from their distorted desires. call of chaos either gives people the freedom to or forces them, depending on your perspective, into giving in to their distorted desires. he's such a good foil to them it makes me insane.

and by nature of what he's doing, it provides him yet another rationalization for what he's doing, because well, they *wanted* to do this anyway. these people already desired to hurt people, goro just gave them a little push. he's not making people do anything they didn't already want to do on some level. the fact that people have these desires in the first place proves the corruption of people and of society.

but the truth is that he is, just like the thieves are, brainwashing people to his own ends. he's doing the same thing they are but from the opposite direction. he's creating chaos by revealing the worst parts of society by forcing the dark underbelly to the surface, and he doesn't care because every time it works it proves him right that society is beyond saving. people don't deserve anything other than the chaos he creates.

Yesss. All of this. *armwaves* Oh, Akechi, my dude, my guy....

... you little hypocrite, lmfao.

Akechi 第一、人の心を無理やりねじ曲げるなんて、人間が一番やっちゃいけない事ですよ。 dai-ichi, hito no kokoro o muriyari nejimageru nante, ningen ga ichiban yaccha ikenai koto desu yo More importantly, you should never forcefully change a person's heart. [lit. Most of all, a thing like twisting somebody's heart out of shape by force - that's the thing that most of all, a person should never do.] Most importantly, twisting someone's heart out of shape to suit yourself is the worst thing you can do.

ねじ曲げる nejimageru suggests twisting something hard out of shape, like a pretzel is twisted. It's another word that can translate as "distorted", though it's not the yuganda of "distorted desires". And Akechi is emphatic—he says dai-ichi... ichiban yaccha ikenai koto: "most of all... that's the one thing you should never do".

But nothing he says here is in terms like "change of heart" that the PTs would recognise. Instead, Akechi is describing a violent assault, in terms that perhaps clarify a bit more of Ryuji's hostility.

He is, in fact, describing exactly what he, himself, does.

but in the third semester

Akechi: And you assume we'll buy into your brainwashing and just live in the palm of your hand? Akechi: Honestly, that sounds absolutely revolting.

Akechi obviously believes what he's saying in the third semester; his whole arc centres on it. Again, it's that freedom to be who you are, no matter the cost; to choose for yourself, without anyone twisting you out of shape, forcing you to act a certain way.

It's this parallel to the third semester that suggests Akechi means what he says on 6/10—that his objections to the PTs are real. Remember, he does tend not to lie outright—he prefers to find some way to use the truth. Which leaves us with a number of possibilities regarding how he rationalises that one:

he has other objections, such as the risk to his plan, the risk to the Metaverse, or the Metaverse belonging to him alone. For sure.

he doesn't care about his victims. Almost certainly.

he views it as something you should never do, and does it anyway. Almost certainly.

he views his victims (and anyone else affected) as deserving what they get. Likely.

he views Call of Chaos not as an attack, but as a liberation or a gift, as him just giving them what they want. At some level, IMO.

he views it as unfortunate but necessary collateral damage. Probably in the middle somewhere, but IMO not at the start, and not at this point.

"you should never do this to anybody" means, specifically, you should never do this to me—and probably not to Shido, either. Definitely IMO.

and lots more exciting, varied possibilities!

conclusions??

Call of Chaos really is so fascinating, in the way it's described as an unchaining, as being out of control; in the way it suggests Akechi may have started out thinking he was the only one without these repressed desires. Because no shadow, right?

Later on, I think he knows a bit better, and is probably a bit spooked at the idea of what the PTs could do to him. But he still views those distorted desires the PTs arbitrarily dispose of as inherent to who someone is: someone's right to choose badly is a core part of their right to choose at all.

He's probably not exactly wrong. It's just that actions have consequences. Or they ought to.

On how Futaba views Akechi

A piece of fanon I've noticed that comes up a lot is how supportive Futaba is of anything that involves Akechi. I don't want to go "Oh she just hates him and any interpretation otherwise is WRONG!!>!" or like she'd totally be cool if he randomly waltzed back into their lives.

It's not something that particularly annoys me or anything. It's just something I've noticed and wanted to comment on because I feel like Futaba's character gets overly simplified. I think it's an interesting dynamic that should be explored more! NOTE THIS IS LONG SORRY LMFAO. Also, I should clarify this isn't a ship post. (don't make this weird)

At the beginning:

We all know the infamous "wait why are you telling me about your trauma, this is a wendy's" scene but it gives us our first insight into her perspective.

When he talks about his mother, it's a fairly similar scenario to Futaba's own. So much so that she has her own cut-in looking sad/sympathetic towards him.

But she's still defensive when he asks about the Phantom Thieves' and their popularity by deflecting sarcastically with,

"...You're popular too, Ace Detective Akechi."

They definitely don't start off on the right foot, much like his relationship with pretty much all the Phantom Thieves, for obvious reasons. Although at this point they don't fully know the extent of his suspicious behavior, just that he is generally sus.

During the Casino + Shido Arcs:

Futaba cannot stand Akechi at this point, but as a part of the plan, she has to act naive even though arguably she probably knows the most about all the mechanics of the plan. She does get to mess with him though (making the newbie do stuff, the whole cognitive akechi part of the plan, bugging his phone). Her perspective is probably still similar to the others and it shows how much she was able to improve by being able to face him without cracking at all.

Shido's Arc and Third Semester is when it actually gets interesting though:

Futaba: You know... sometimes I think about that fake Medjed that you guys made up... Futaba: That was the worst trap... but if not for that, I don't think I'd be here right now. Futaba: Uhhh, basically... it doesn't matter where you start over!

This one gets me, I think this line is where her perspective begins to shuffle a bit (and it will be important later). She's trying her best to sympathize with him, as this is before the black mask part of the breakdown, and get him to see that there was some amount of good that came from his actions. It doesn't work, and I kind of think she doesn't really believe it, but they are all trying anything to get him to come to his senses. But I do think she means the part about him starting over, in a "I did it, so could you" kind of way.

And of course this engine room dialogue which is peak (even if it may be an incorrect description of his abilities):

Futaba: But you trusted no one, so you only got two Personas: one for your lies, and one for your hate. Futaba: Still, you thought that was enough, right? That part I totally get.

Okay the first part of the dialogue may not be accurate to how his Personas work but I don't want to talk about that (there's some good posts on that though). But the point isn't being accurate, she's throwing back what he's done in attempt to get through to him. Like this is where you went wrong and here's why I can relate to that. The second line confuses me and I had to sit on it.

One point she makes is that he's operating on his own without teammates (the translation is a bit different), "playing in single player mode." I think this refers to how she thought she could manage her situation on her own, but wasn't able to. Additional note, it could also be referring to the way she attempted to push people out of her life (like how she tries to stop the PTs when they say they need to meet her to change her heart). That she needed the help of the Phantom Thieves (I think, even beyond the change of heart) and those bonds proved her wrong. So even though she initially thought no one needed her and that her life was meaningless, she did something Akechi couldn't conceive of doing, reaching out for help. This is her way of extending a branch even though there's no reason for her to.

Third Semester

An additional line I can't screenshot:

"So please let me get back to navigating! I wanna navigate so hard that I won't be able to think about anything else."

When this happens, I think it's pretty clear that there's a strong inner conflict for her when it comes to forgiving Akechi. Even though they reasoned it out by saying they needed him on the team due to Maruki's abilities, she's still trying to look for a better reason to work with him. And she just can't find one. I wouldn't say it's necessarily out of pity, but it shows that she does on some level still feel bad for him. I guess the word I'm looking for is compassion? A thought that comes into my head is that she does want him to start over, just not with the team. If it was only Shido, then it would have been justified, but the circumstances are different here. Knowing that he might be alive changes the way all the thieves interact with him (they aren't trying to get through to him anymore, and some dialogues are just awkward- you can tell no one knows what to say to him now that he's acting 'normal').

A counterpoint to this dialogue would be her dialogue in the engine room and Mementos. She's pretty open to talking to him in these dialogues. In Akechi's section there are some really interesting interactions imo:

Akechi: You may not like working with me, but I'm counting on your assistance until our goal is achieved. Futaba: You better appreciate just how open-minded I am.

The fact they don't play together in Tycoon but they still get Mementos dialogues confuses me a bit but eh. Without Haru and Futaba's approval it's pretty clear the others wouldn't be on board with Akechi on the team. The delivery kind of makes it sound like she's forcing herself to be open minded about it, and that's what the safe room dialogue implies too. She doesn't want to be around him.

Akechi: Do you prefer my previous outfit or this one? Moving around's become much easier for me. Futaba: They both work fine. Just wear whatever you want.

Akechi: You think I'm frightening when I fight? Well, I'm afraid you're just going to have to accept it. Futaba: I was pretty shocked at first, but now I'm used to it.

I think these are pretty clear. She hasn't forgiven him, hell she probably doesn't like him, but she's come to accept him for who he is. But she isn't scared anymore, nor is she trying to reason with him, he just exists.

Conclusion/TLDR: She goes from actively disliking him at the beginning of the story to still disliking him but it's complicated™. She understands what he went through to get to that point, and wanted him (like the others) to face Shido with them. But when it comes to third semester, the circumstances are far different, complicating it further. She doesn't need to forgive him at all, she knows that, but after everything that happened wants to find a reason to forgive him. But she can't. At the very least, she's begrudgingly accepting of his existence, and can deal with it only for the sake of the team. She doesn't hate him, at all, actually, but to say she's okay with him is also a stretch.

Bit of a longer one, but something has always felt off to me about the palaces in P5X and I think I figured out why…

These aren’t palaces and while they share the terminology, they function differently.

The method of access is changed to be based on travel in Mementos rather than keywords.

Kiuchi’s palace is based on his past lust and glory days as a baseball player rather than his vengeance quest against Motoha, when that’s arguably his greatest desire as of now.

Miyazawa’s palace is a film set disguised as a temple, with his shadow as the lead actor rather than an actual position of power like either a director or a Shinkansen. Bonus points that neither of his palaces themes refer to food at all, despite that being an integral part of Miyazawa’s day job.

Finally calling cards are excised from the heart changing process, and although we only see Kiuchi’s treasure, to my knowledge it doesn’t tie in at all to his desires outside of being a baseball (I don’t think it’s said if it’s the ball Arai struck him out with)

So what am I getting at?

The palaces of phantom x, while made of desires like the ones in 5, they are made of desires for “greatness” that is filtered through their distortions and corruptions.

Perhaps the “X Yaldabaoth” is a well intentioned (albeit seriously misguided) being seeking to grant humanity’s greatest desires on an individual level, more like Maruki in a way, and whomever is orchestrating these “phantom attacks” is seeking to prevent these palaces from forming.

(This game is so fun to speculate about, I can’t wait for demo 3!)

Ooo, that IS a fun theory! That's such a good catch, that these Palaces seem to be less of a distortion based on their desire, and more of a desire for something (greatness, as you put it).

I was going to point out that Palaces even in P5 do tend to have a bit of that- arguably Kamoshida, Madarame, and Shido's Palaces are also kind of a monument to their own perception of their greatness- but thinking about it, even then, the real focus of the Palaces isn't that in and of itself. Kamoshida's is what he does with that power (the volleyball team members being tortured, the cognitive Ann, Shiho, and Mishima, how he "rules over" it all) as he chases a past glory (his Olympic medal), Madarame's is about how he keeps his power going (his students as paintings, the whole museum showcasing "his" work) and the first time he stole art to such a direct extent (the Sayuri), and Shido's is... well, it's a lot of things, haha. It's how he reinforces his power, it's his end goal, it's how he protects himself, and it's all based on his political career (his legislator's pin).

That is to say, you're absolutely right- at least so far, even though Miyazawa does have some power over others in the real world, even his Palace seems like it might be more about where he wants to be than where he is. I will say, I'm pretty sure his Palace is a film set modeled to look like a Japanese castle, not a temple? But either way, I think the theory stands. I like your idea for how the "X Yaldabaoth" and phantoms might fit into this, too!

Now that you've got me thinking about it, maybe that's why the phantom thieves of P5X don't need calling cards? It's not something the Palace ruler has that's being stolen, it's something they want. Certainly still a theft of desires, but thinking about it, definitely not the same kind of "desire" as in P5, which probably fits with P5X's general lack of desires.

Phantom Thief outfit breakdown: pt 7

This is a continuation of my previous post and series regarding my opinions on the phantom thieves' metaverse costumes, prompted by a poll by @waywardsalt. I will link all of these together as they're finished.

Akechi - Ann - Makoto - Sumire - Futaba - Yusuke

Next Up: Detective Prince Akechi! It's time for the marching band prince outfit. This one is much more break down than changes tbh.

For some reason he doesn't have a piece from the set of official art I've been including, so he gets this (does let us see the back though). I'm starting to see more and more people say they think this one is hideous, but I actually don't agree! From a design and character perspective, this outfit is striking, very coherent, and richly detailed without feeling overly cluttered. I think part of the reason it's so jarring is because its so on the nose for the prince personal and thus comes across as sort of childish and impulsive, like it was chosen on a whim, but I do think that's intentional. The purpose of this outfit is to contrast directly with Joker's, the white counterpoint to his black ensemble, lure the thieves into a false sense of security, and to make the black mask outfit more of a shock, and it accomplishes this in my opinion.

I also like that's its a subtle form of rebellion that's very specific to Akechi's situation; he's a bastard child being used by his powerful father with little recognition, so the idea of being a prince, someone powerful and important because of his birth and his familial connections, IS a form of rebellion for him. The rest of the thieves (besides Futaba and Joker, who're there for the 8/28 trauma dump) don't know this though, so it flies over their heads. It's the pristine, white prince to the black mask's dark knight.

The most obvious inspiration here is the fairy tale prince aesthetic, playing off his media moniker, but it also incorporates a significant amount of formal military regalia. I'm not super familiar with this particular branch of history and fashion, but it seems very European 1700s and 1800s to me, very Napoleonic. The white color seems very Napoleon's Grande Armee to me, but the cut, double row of buttons, and shoulder epulettes scream 1912 American Navy full dress uniform. Ironically, this mix of military gravitas and fairy tale stylization means that the outfit ends up looking startlingly similar to the duelist uniforms of Revolutionary Girl Utena in my eyes, which is probably not the exact vibe they were going for.

The red and gold accents help break up the monotony of the white very well, and the piping on the arms and legs provide a nice lengthening effect. The mask is very interesting, because while it follows the European vibe, its distinctly not military; instead, it pulls on two different types of masks: the zanni and the plague doctor mask. The zanni mask is Italian, named for the character it denoted in commedia dell'arte plays; this character was a servant from the countryside and often a trickster character, which nicely alludes to how Akechi is the rival trickster to Joker in Yaldaoboath's game, as well as the way he's intentionally tricking both Shido and the thieves. The plague doctor mask is, obviously, the mask worn to prevent the spread of the black plague during medical examinations and treatment during its outbreak in the Renaissance, and I presume it relates to Akechi in the way he's been treated as a pest his whole life and is trying to maintain distance with the thieves during Sae's Palace.

There's no real changes I'd make here; I think this outfit does its job wonderfully, with a wealth of attention to detail and well used motifs. Most distaste with the costume is probably personal preference and the shock it gives you the first time you see it. It's definitely not something I'd ever wear but it gets the job done well. I place it 4th out of 10, with a solid score of 7/10.

I remember one time seeing an artwork of the v3 cast in the phantom thieves outfits and it got me wondering what if we had class 77 as the investigation team (I know shsl shipper gamer fangirl did something like this but I don’t think the phantom thieves fit as well as the investigation team) and with that in mind who do you see being who

(P.s for the artwork I saw kokichi was joker kaede was panther kaito was skull maki was queen korekiyo was fox himeno was oracle tsumugi was haru ryoma was Mona kiruma was sae shuichi was supposed to be goro but mistakenly dressed up as naoto)

Ok! I'm going to try to think in terms of who has the most similar personality or at least shares the most traits with the P4 character in question.

Yu Narukami/Protag equivalent = Hajime, obvs.

Yosuke Hanamura equivalent = Kazuichi. Although I feel like Kazuichi's best P4 match would be something like "Yosuke + Kanji," Yosuke is definitely the closer match of the two.

Chie Satonaka equivalent = This is the first legitimately tough one IMO. I guess Mahiru Koizumi is probably the best match in terms of personality, so I'll give it to her.

Yukiko Amagi equivalent = Sonia Nevermind. Easy one.

Kanji Tatsumi equivalent = Fuyuhiko has that tough-guy exterior with the softer inner core, so he can take this on.

Rise Kujikawa equivalent = This, to me, was the hardest one. Sure, we have someone who loves to be on-stage and in the spotlight — Ibuki — but she doesn't align with ANYTHING else about Rise's personality. (Though I do think having Ibuki as a navigator would be hilarious.) So... who comes the closest, then? Does Class 77 have anyone that's struggling with putting on an exterior face to the point that they fear they're losing sight of who they are? I suppose that'd align well with the Imposter. But again, I don't feel confident that he fits with anything else about Rise. And so, after careful consideration, I've decided to give this role to Mikan Tsumiki. Mikan aligns with literally zero of Rise's personality traits, yet somehow she still gets about 50% of the way to matching most of them, if that makes sense? There are multiple aspects that both have loosely in common with the other, if only partially. It's... good enough.

Teddie equivalent = Teruteru.

Naoto Shirogane equivalent = And so we end on another hard one. I considered Peko, Ryota, and Chiaki before I ultimately landed on Imposter. He's got a very no-nonsense, down-to-business way of speaking when he's not putting on a faked personality, plus he's got that whole hidden-identity aspect down already. He also almost never wavers from his craft; he's disguising 99% of the time, after all, which aligns pretty well with Naoto's workaholic nature.

note: this is set during s1, since s1 lasts a lot longer in the Phantom Thief AU. (most likely this'd be after Impossible Delivery but before Skeleton Key, and also be before Red Son finds out about who the Phantom Thieves are).

Glancing at the crowd around him, pulling his hood tighter to better cover his face as he did so, Wukong decided that he definitely regretted choosing to become a phantom thief.

Well. Not like he was one yet. According to MK, he still had a long way to go with his training, as well as something along the lines of a "phantom thief entrance exam", which the kid had only mentioned briefly but still sounded absolutely awful. But, he supposed the kid was right- he’d only been learning the methods of Phantom Thievery for a month and a half- he hadn’t even stolen anything yet, so… MK was probably definitely in the right with him not being quite ready.

He wasn't even here to steal anything tonight, either (probably a good thing, considering this crowd). No, he was just here to watch the kid's performance.

And it was obvious that many others had the same idea in mind, considering the amount of people, as well as television crews that had set themselves up on the street.

("Televised?" Wukong had asked, confusion in his voice, "Why would anyone want to televise, nevertheless watch, a heist?"

MK had just rolled his eyes at him.

"A show is still a show, even if it's a heist." He'd said, turning back to doodling in his heist-planning notebook. “And people love a good show.”)

Wukong let out a sigh, shifting slightly to the left to avoid being bumped into by someone passing by. If it weren’t for the fact that the kid had specifically asked for him to be here in the crowd- something about this specific demonstration working better if he saw it in person, he would be at home, watching this through his tv, instead of here, in the middle of a giant crowd of strangers.

“Five more minutes until heist time…” Someone to the right of him muttered, and Wukong imperciptively stiffened.

He turned to the side and- yep. That- even though his hair was currently glamoured to black-

That was definitely Red Son standing only a few inches away from him.

Wukong shrunk back, trying his best to wrap his hoodie around himself even tighter. With a crowd like this, it was best to avoid any kind of fight with the Demon Bull Family right now… He hadn’t been noticed yet, but, seriously, what was Red Son of all people even doing here?

That question was answered a mere few seconds later, as an explosion of confetti and golden smoke appeared above the crowd, the resulting excited screams enough to make even Wukong’s ears ring. His hands over his ears, he risked glancing back at Red Son again, …finding that the fire demon looked just as excited as every other fan in the crowd.

Ah. Well, at the very least it was reassuring that there wasn’t going to be a demon attack in the middle of this heist.

The excited screams switched to gasps of awe, and Wukong looked up to see what, exactly, had rendered the excited crowd speechless.

MK was standing in mid-air.

Wukong blinked, his golden vision activating sub-consciously as the people around him started to murmur again. One of the TV helicopters drew nearer to MK, likely in order to film him better, and Wukong just barely caught the sound of Red Son saying something along the lines of “doing such a thing without real magic- I have no idea how that’s possible, that’s incredible” before people started to cheer as MK took a step forward.

Followed by another.

The kid literally almost looked like he was walking on thin air.

One of the usual detectives (one that tended to be present at ‘Golden Monkey’s heists, Wukong hadn’t bothered to learn the names of any of the regulars yet) must’ve gone up to the top of one of the neighboring buildings, because the next thing Wukong knew, someone was yelling about how there weren’t any wires connected to the buildings.

The cheering got louder at that, but Wukong rolled his eyes. Of course there weren’t any wires on the buildings, couldn’t people see-

Wukong blinked, remembering the golden tint at the corners of his vision.

Oh.

Right.

Golden eyes. Of course the crowd around him couldn’t see what he saw.

…Should… should he tell them?

Wukong glanced at the amazed crowd around him, considering. Some people in the crowd were simply looking up with wonder, while others, like Red Son, seemed to have passed wonder and instead had their heads slightly tilted, clearly trying to puzzle out just how MK was pulling off such a feat.

Well… surely it wouldn’t cause any harm, right-

A hand settled itself over his mouth before he could even begin to open it, and Wukong stiffened, a chill running down his spine. Someone was behind him. It was only through sheer force of will that he didn’t grab their wrist and flip them over his shoulder and cause a scene-

“C’mon now.” The whisper in his ear made Wukong shudder- “We wouldn’t want to ruin the performance, now would we? Some mysteries are meant to remain mysteries.”

Wukong knew that voice.

He whirled around, knocking the hand off of him, shifting to be ready to fight, but-

There was nothing behind him but shadows.

Wukong kept staring, half expecting a certain someone to jump back out at him at any second-

A sudden increase in the cheering distracted him, and he turned back around to see what part of the heist he had missed.

MK was no longer walking in mid-air, instead now standing on one of the museum’s balconies, waving at the crowd. A group of detectives entered through the building’s door, and MK briefly glanced down at them, before giving a two-fingered salute to the crowd and backflipping into the museum through the window.

Abruptly, the large electronic advertisement screens on the buildings in the area switched to show a live-feed of the inside of the museum.

The following ten minutes show-cased MK pulling off an increasingly difficult series of acrobatic tricks to avoid capture- ones that made Wukong raise an eyebrow, knowing for a fact that MK was not that good at dodging during training. Maybe it was something about mentality? Being better at dodging when in ‘phantom thief mode’ than when out of it? He should probably bring it up at their next training session for sure.

On another note, Red Son certainly seemed to be enjoying the performance. Wukong kept glancing at him out of the corner of his eye, just in case something changed and he decided to try something, but every time Red Son appeared to be completely enamoured with what was occurring on the television screens.

…Did MK know about Red Son attending his heists? By all likelihood, he probably did, the kid tended to not miss a single detail when it came to heists after all, but…

…Maybe he should bring that up at their next training session as well.

In the end, the heist ended almost as abruptly as it had begun.

MK had run back out to the balcony, leapt onto the railing, and held out his prize- an emerald hair comb, above his head, for the whole crowd to see. The cheering became almost ten times louder, and man, Wukong mentally made a note to himself to wear earplugs to the next heist like this, because this was torture on his sensitive ears.

MK shifted, and there was a bright flash of light-

In the next second, MK was gone.

The show very obviously over, the crowd slowly started dispersing. As Wukong moved with the flow of the crowd, he walked past Red Son, who was on his phone-

And was setting a picture of ‘Golden Monkey’s triumphant smirk as he held up the hair comb as his phone’s background.

Did he… did he not know that that was MK?

Wukong looked away. Yeah, no, he wasn’t going to be touching that can of worms with a ten-foot pole.

{Makoto}

She's the kind of partner that would make sure you're eating properly every. Whether it's through text or in person. If in person she and depending on how busy you two are at the time, she would suggest you eat something together.

When it comes to date, she prefers more private dates like staying home and watching something or to a book cafe. She is open to trying out different kinds of dates since she loves experiencing her partners interests.

Which speaking of, she will take notes and research the things her partner enjoys. She does expect them to do the same as well.

While she does love the rest of the Phantom Thieves, she also knows they are very intense. So, it would take some time for her to introduce them to her partner. Another reason also is that she'd want to make sure the relationship can last more than a couple of weeks too, in case things get awkward.

Once she's ready to introduce everyone, she'd want to do it in a way that doesn't get her partner overwhelmed with how intense Ryuji can be or how weird Yusuke can get.

Being in a relationship with her will be awkward and difficult in the start due to her lack of experience having friends, let alone a partner. In the start, she can come off as distant since she doesn't want to seem overbearing or pushy in any way.

She tries her best and even asks her friends for advice even when it's just something Futaba saw in a dating sim.

{Ann}

Ann is the opposite of Makoto. She likes going out and exploring new cafes, shops, and anywhere else she can find. When she can afford it, she likes to go to anime cafes even when she's not a fan because she likes how cute the food is.

At the start of the relationship, she gets so excited to go on dates that she'll forget to get her partners inputs of what they would want to. She also forgets to plan ahead and will spring surprise dates on them when she sees something fun they could do together.

If her partner likes going out like her and surprise dates, then dates with her can go for hours since you both will keep seeing something new to do.

If they like planning dates and more private indoor dates, she'll start keeping an ear out for upcoming events they can plan together. It'll take a while for her to get used to indoor dates, but she will enjoy just laying around watching movies and eating snacks with face masks.

She also likes couples dates. Meaning her partner will definitely meet AkiraRen first if he has a partner at that time. That also extends to the other Phantom Thieves if they also are dating someone at the time.

Once you meet one of them on a couple's date, she'll offer them to meet the other Phantom Thieves. It'll he more low-key, like when Makoto takes you to them. Probably at Leblanc since it's their usual hang out and a nice comfortable atmosphere for everyone.

Being in a relationship with Ann will take a lot of work on both parts. They'll both have to learn how to communicate better what they want and what they expect from their partners. Especially if they're a lot more mellow than Ann. If they are, she will ask people like Makoto and Yusuke for more quiet and calm dates since their interests are more inclined to that.

ryuji finds everything you do so mesmerizing, theres practically stars in his eyes when he discovers your hidden talent!

hes also lowkey offended you didnt show him earlier LMAOO

i can picture him asking you to make him a playlist of all your favorite songs, and he listens to it whenever hes doing his homework (a rare occurrence.) or when hes playing video games.

hes basically learned the words to every song on there, and i like to think when youre over one day and you start singing along he kinda just stares at you like :0 !!

hes no professional, but he didnt think he was half bad at singing until he heard you.

only a little (a lot) jealous at how good you are afterwards he kind of just sits around with a pouty face and says something like “how can you be so good at EVERYTHING?”

as impressed he is, ryuji is competitive, so dont be surprised when your next date is a karaoke night and hes trying his hardest to 1-up you.

he claims its just because he wants to hear more of your singing, but hes putting his whole heart and soul into every song that comes on.

overall hes really supportive, and he understands if you dont feel comfortable singing around others. but if you are, hes so definitely showing you off to the other phantom thieves. (he thinks it gives him bragging rights against morgana.)

FOX // YUSUKE KITAGAWA

honestly, yusuke gives off theater kid vibes too so i see him being really excited to catch you singing!

you were over at his dorm, watching him sketch out his newest painting. there was some conversation between the two of you but you let him do most of the talking as not to disturb him too much.

you ended up suggesting to play some music in the background to fill the space, to which he nodded to, not really paying much attention.

you both sat in silence for a bit, simply enjoying each others company as the music played in the background.

“your music taste is incredible, love.” hed definitely ask for you to send him the playlist youre listening to <3

later on, your favorite song had come on, and you found yourself singing along to the music. yusuke had been silent for awhile so you had forgotten he was still in the room.

the longer the song had gone, the more you got comfortable with singing louder, to the point you were able to hit all the high notes flawlessly.

this is what had finally gotten yusukes attention away from his work, him turning back to look at you with a stunned face.

his dramatic ass is so extra about everything i swear. hes going on and on about how splendid of a performer you would be and hes amazed he hasnt heard you sing before.

you, on the other hand are still dealing with the whiplash of him still being in the room.

you guess you hadnt realized how into it youd have gotten, but at least your boyfriend got a free performance out of it!

CROW // GORO AKECHI

you had received a text from akechi 10 minutes ago. a simple “omw.” was all he wrote.

however, you still excitedly set up everything you had planned for your boyfriends awaited arrival.

hed been coming home late from his work at the police station, and you knew hed appreciate the thought of a nice relaxing night at home with his favorite foods and plenty of fuzzy blankets laid out on the couch.

you had music playing in the background as you applied the finishing touches. putting everything you had into the chorus of the song playing over the speaker.

you hadnt even heard akechi walk in over how loud everything was in your living room until you turned around and noticed him staring at you with an unreadable expression on his face.

was he disgusted? or just really surprised? it was always hard to tell with him.

you prayed it was the latter, and continued to sing along, more dramatically, like it was the most important performance of your life. you could see him laugh fondly.

once you were finished, he set his bag down on the kitchen counter to greet you properly.

“i didnt know you were so talented.” he responded blankly, “is there anything you *arent* good at?” he joked.

you laughed, pressing a kiss to his cheek before playfully responding, “oh no! looks like the detective prince caught me!” and running to hide under a blanket on the couch.

he smiled at your antics, having a seat on the couch next to you, cuddling up to your covered form under the blanket.

you peeked your head out and smiled warmly at him and said, “welcome home.”

moments like these with akechi are rare, but you cherish every single one of them.
