so many soldier poet king edits lately but not one catagorises mike as a ruler so i can't care

okay let me explain to you why I automatically view Mike Wheeler as The Soldier and Will Byers as The Poet.I did a quick research of the meaning of the song and each term, and

- The Soldier is described as “A person who sees everything as a fight. They feel destined for violence, driven by anger, and they walk into this world of conflict, partially by their own choice” and honestly? that sounds like Mike Wheeler core to me, he’s always quick to anger when he’s on the defensive and when he wants to protect the people he loves,but his choices are also driven by internal conflicts (especially if we consider the queer coding around his weird behaviours), maybe he’s not a physical fighter but his personality definitely matches with the dynamic of The Soldier.

- now Will Byers, honestly? im still undecided if he’s a Poet or a Ruler, I think the figure of The Poet matches his personality better but his storyline screams Ruler, anyway The Poet is described as someone who “Is a more peaceful creature who sees the beauty and poetry of the world and uses the power of words and their sensitivity as a strength that others may underestimate. However, the quiet power of this character can change the world as much as an act of war”, as we know Will and all the things he went through, we also know how much he feels (and hates being) “babied” by others and so also underestimated especially in the last few years of his life, and we’re also very aware of how much fundamental he is to the plot of the series and how much he will be important for season five, when everything will come to an end, “the show started with Will and will end with Will”,right?

I tried as much as I could to not mix the Canon with the Fanon because I feel like a lot of people do that, see the characters for what they are and not only for what you think/want them to be! as much as I love headcanons i prefer to follow the canon points for this kind of thing. I’m sorry for any grammar mistakes but english is not my first language:)

Bonus: I saw someone say “soldier and poet work best together romanticaly bc the poet will forever yearn to be king and the soldier won’t be able to view the king as equal” and I think that’s beautiful (only exception goes to lumax because Max is a soldier and Lucas is a king yk im right)
