Ok, new story dump. This one's not a fanfic this time, so get ready for some new characters :)
just setting the mood rq
"Questing and adventuring is hard, long, and quite tiring, so why not take a break from it all?! Ride on down to the Drag Inn hotel! Rest you and your party’s head for however long you need to! With inclusive accommodations from our tallest giants to the smallest fae, there’s always a room for you!"
This story, Drag Inn, is about the staff that helps run the hotel and their stories. It a bit more of a slice-of-life piece so far. Usually, my stories are linear and action-packed, so this one is a nice change of pace for me.
The world that this story operates in is pretty meta, with whole towns, cities, and districts centering around story genres, like a Drama city or a Fantasy town. One of the big events is something called a Prophetical Counsel will come up with a prophecy every six months for a chosen one to go and slay some evil. There are a couple councils in every district. They have to tell the other councils when a chosen one has been selected so there aren’t any overlaps. Sometimes, mistakes happen. Chosen ones usually become pretty popular and wealthy after their adventure, if they survive.
Oh wait, you wanna see drawings of it, don't you? Well, I don't have many (oddly enough), but I do have a ref sheet that includes the entire staff (*゚▽゚*)/
Tumblr media
Oooo and they have descriptions too (*^‿^*)
this is about to get very long ( 〃..)
TL;DR Po is the owner/manager, Telady is co-owner/receptionist, Raven and Lucki are baristas, Jade and Edith are housekeepers, Donovan is a lifeguard, Veris and Axel are security with Pix being unofficial security, Dave is a bartender, Ash is a therapist, and Dyna and Derrin are cooks
Po Eider: Po is a retired chosen one from the Action Adventure genre who slew the Dark Dragon of ‘08. They had learned frost magic in order to do so and are in possession of a frost suit of armor and sword. Unfortunately, while fighting the Dragon, it touched their heart and cursed them. This curse is known as the Dragon’s Touch, and it severely limits the magical abilities of the victim to the point where they could die if they use too much magic. They have no home outside of the hotel as they blew all of their money on purchasing it and lost the lease on their apartment. They tend to act quite arrogant. Po is the owner and manager of Drag Inn.
Telady Pinsnap: Telady is a retired spy from the Spy thriller genre, as well as Po's aunt. She took down many organizations with her old partner. Telady had learned to not be scared of anything, otherwise, it could cost her her entire mission. She tends not to hesitate and is very sure of her decisions. Having retired from spying, but not about to let her nephew run a business alone, she works the receptionist position and is co-owner of Drag Inn.
Raven Macintosh: Raven is an out-of-work superhero from the Action genre. She has the power of electricity and her hero name was Fritz. The town she was in lost its villain as he was arrested and taken out of the country. Raven had always wanted to be a writer, but she could almost never find any good inspiration or conflict. She loves slice-of-life tales, so she thought working as a barista would give her the inspiration she needed, while also keeping her busy.
Jade: Jade is a bird-human hybrid from the Dark Fantasy genre. He used to live in a hollow tree in a misty forest, right around an area where people would walk in and instantly go missing. Jade liked to try to protect the smaller, younger people who came through from the darkness inside, but sometimes, he couldn’t help but indulge in the darkness himself. Always has a spooky story to tell or fact to share. Loves to try to keep the plants alive as there weren’t very many where he used to live. At least, not many that were harmless.
Edith Farley: Edith is an actor from the Fairytale genre who tried to be a Disney Princess. However, standards to being cast as one is much different there than it is here and she didn't make the cut. She is great at singing and can hardly stand a mess. Loves to meet new people. She was hired as housekeeper alongside Jade.
Donovan Clarke: Donovan is a survivor from the Horror genre. He used to be the generic jock stereotype, but for some reason, he managed to survive instead of the final girl surviving. The incident drove him to be a more caring and selfless person. Despite the incident taking place near a lake, Donovan still loves to swim and finds his comfort from bad days in the pool. He can sometimes be seen talking to something in the water. He takes full advantage of the free employee therapy. Donovan was hired as a lifeguard.
Pix: Pix is a fae that used to reside in the Dark Fantasy forest, but when she was hired to sabotage the hotel, she claimed a room to stay in. Overtime, she warms up to the staff and instead becomes an unofficial part of their team. Pix is a vessel for chaos and a master of trickery.
David Theodore Maridale II: Dave was killed in a duel where the hotel was built. He haunted the land and continued haunting even when the hotel was up and running, sort of. Dave worked as a bartender before he died. He loved to talk with his patrons and had the ability to summon multiple familiars to help him. His ability carried over into his afterlife, where he is now able to summon what he calls “ghostlings”. He comes from an older version of the Action Adventure genre and is a ghost bartender for the hotel. He is the oldest of the staff.
Ashtaroth Blackwell: Ash is the child of a demon and a human from the Supernatural genre. They spent their entire childhood being taught their father’s ways. When Ash turned 18, they moved away, not wanting to be associated with their father. They faced stigma wherever they went, due to their familial ties. Ash did manage to find a place in the Urban Fantasy district and study psychology. They became a therapist for people who struggled with family and sudden chosen status. Ash eventually got a job at the hotel to reach a broader category.
Dyna Harris: Dyna is a mechanical engineer and gamer from the Sci-fi genre. She is a shapeshifter who loves to cook. She uses her shapeshifting ability to get the intricate details of her mechanical builds. She had lost half of her right arm from a trap in the woods while she was shifted as an animal. She managed to rebuild that arm out of mechanical parts, but it can never come back, despite her shapeshifting ability. Inspired by the incident, she put aside building and took up her passion for cooking as her main career. She has been hired as the head chef at the hotel.
Veris Urgfim: Veris is an orc bard from a DnD town in the Action Adventure genre. Veris looks big and intimidating, but he is really a big sweetheart. He likes to make people feel safe, and has no time for assholes. His party had left him to die in a cave, but he managed to make it out and survive. He loves to joke and was hired as security for the hotel.
Lucki Caldwell: Lucki is an elf from the Urban Fantasy genre. He is the youngest of the staff. Lucki is very eager and naive. He was quite sheltered, so a job as a barista in a hotel that has all sorts of people coming and going every day is quite new for him. He doesn’t know much about how the other genres operate, so he is usually found getting into trouble. Raven tends to act like a mother towards him since they work together a lot. Lucki has some of the best energy in the hotel, so if someone is having a bad day, then they could count on Lucki to make things a bit better.
Derrin Torres: Derrin comes from a completely different dimension from the others. He came here after following what looked like ghosts of himself until one led him to a reflective, red pool that pulled him into this world. Derrin is usually the one to have a clever solution to something without the use of magic. Derrin had absorbed the magic that the portal used when he was transported, gaining illusionary abilities.
Axel Lavon: Axel is a former actor from a medieval reenactment group. He was usually performing as a knight, but took the role very seriously, even going as far as to learn how to fight with various blades and melee weapons. He was fired from his job for fighting with and injuring a customer. Axel is rarely seen without a weapon of his by his side, his favorite being his sword. Despite his fascination with fantasy things, Axel is from the Comedy district. He was hired as security.
Heheh, yeah. I like this story (*^‿^*) kinda debating whether I host the story on Tumblr or on Webtoon. Maybe I'll do both. One things for sure, I will definitely try to post anything random I draw about this on here.
That's all for now. Stay determined<3

DAY EIGHT: BREAKING THE BELIAL BARRIER.
Deuteronomy 13:13 “Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known”
 Scriptures:
1 Kings 21:1-10, Deuteronomy 13:13, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Acts 6:11, Jeremiah 19:22, Zechariah 4:9, Isaiah 54:17, 8:9-12, Exodus 20:16
‘Certain men’ as stated in today’s scripture refers to either a male or female (men in generic essence). ‘Children from Belial are gone out from among you’ means that they were part of you. Belials can birth forth Belials because like begets like.  The scripture says they have drawn out the inhabitants of the city. The inhabitants of the city were not ready to go but were enticed, they set bait for them and drew them into serving other gods. Beware of the drawings of Belials; know that others are around you just to draw you into their evil deeds so that you will displease your God.
In 1 Kings 21, Naboth had a vineyard which he inherited from his fathers, king Ahab wanted to take the vineyard from him which he refused. This eventually led to his death. Naboth means a carrier of a word, one who carries prophecies, a fruit or sprout. It also means somebody who carries posterity with him. When Naboth refused to let go off his vineyard, Jezebel, the queen set two men, sons of Belial before him to bear false witness against him. We are in dwindling times and a lot of things are going on in the world; the enemy is roaring like a lion seeking whom he may devour but in spite of all these the Lord is saying that you are a carrier of prophecy and to manifest it, you must live your full life span.
Belials figuratively stand for Satan and all his evil deeds. When you go against the Ten Commandments or you do anything against God you are being a Belial. Belial means without profit, when they come into your business you are not able to make profit. If they are in church, they cause confusion, they are lawless per their disposition and rebellious in everything. These were the kind of people Jezebel sent against Naboth. Belials are all around us and we must pray them out of our lives. The Bible admonishes us not to be ignorant of the devices of the enemy. The good news is that our sufficiency is of the Lord and not of ourselves and the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. It is not by our might or by our power but the Spirit of God. Paul said, ‘I am what I am because of the grace of God’. As believers, we need the divine enablement of God called grace. All grace doesn’t just happen, God makes all grace happen. You also need to work your salvation with fear and trembling in order to maintain the grace of God upon your life and be that great personality He has destined you to be.
Your sufficiency is of the Lord, but your sufficiency has an enemy that is why you need to go deeper with the Lord. Paul said, ‘a great and effectual door has been opened unto me but there are many adversaries. In your weakness, God’s strength is made perfect; the Bible makes us to know that the Holy Spirit helps our infirmities; the Holy Spirit is the distributor of grace. Naboth was running his race but Ahab came from nowhere and with his authority employed Belials against Naboth. Belials come to short circuit your life, scandalize and retire you when you are not ready. He was brought to a place where his weakness also gave in. Paul besought the Lord thrice and the Lord said to him “my grace is sufficient for you”. Even when you don’t qualify, grace will come in to qualify you in Jesus’ name!
The intent of Belials is to disturb you. If the enemy is coming against you, his target will be based on what you like. They knew that Naboth loved lofty places and so Jezebel, the enemy used it against him. They organized a feast and gave him the high place to sit and, in the end, they took his life.
What do you like? If the enemy gets to know of your weakness, he will use it against you. You can be tempted but don’t be drawn away, may your desires not let you be drawn away or enticed. Naboth was not meant to die before his time. He was a carrier of posterity, he carried great prophecies and he was supposed to bear great fruits but Belials short circuited his life. Stephen was stoned to death when it was not His time to die. Some people are not literally dead, but they are dead in terms of their potentials because they gave in to Jezebel and she destroyed it.
Belials have no respect for seed (genuine anointing), they are ready to destroy you and die with you. May you not die before your time in Jesus’ name! When you are enticed, confide in somebody (your pastor, parent etc.) and it will neutralize the whole thing even before you pray. The devil is looking for soft spots; they want to kill you before your time but do not give him the chance. One of the ways to turn away from the enticement of the enemy is to postpone gratification. Know that there are some seats you are not supposed to sit on. Gehazi went for what did not belong to him and he ended up being leprous. The Belial spirit can let you sell your birth right like Esau, do not throw away your treasure. Belials do not know their worth and they would want everybody to be like them but you are exempted in Jesus’ name!
The Bible says, ‘no weapon formed against you shall prosper’. Naboth made the weapon prosper against him, he allowed himself (his lust) to be drawn and he was caught by the enemy. May that be far away from you in Jesus’ name. May you put on the whole armour of God, never cease praying and you will resist the devil. This year don’t walk amidst Belials. Belials in our days are spirits (bodiless beings) who impersonate people. May you be able to identify all Belials in your life so that you can do away with them. May this year be Belial free year for you in Jesus’ name.
 PRAYERS:
·        Pray and ask God to revive your discerning ability in order to be able make out and flush out all Belial’s in your life/family/ministry/ marriage/ business etc. in this New Year in Jesus’ name.
·        I demolish any arguments, schemes, conspiracies, and evil witnesses and all forms of Belial this year and beyond in Jesus’ name! [2 Corinthians 10:4]
·        I declare any inhibitions of Belial and their evil barriers to be broken in Jesus’ name!
·        Declare a Belial free year in Jesus’ name!
·        Pray and ask God to help you not be caught in Belial activities in Jesus’ name. [Luke 6:31 do to others as you would have them do to you. (NIV)]

Avis' Subject Symposium
A Crash Course in Trance Pt 1: Files.
(Art by Acro @sodalite96/https://twitter.com/sodalite96 Used with their permission. Go check them out!)
So often new subjects come to me and they don’t know the first thing about trance. None of its mechanics or methods, and so it can be very daunting for them; to step into such a wide abyss without knowing what to expect and what is expected of you. Many of them, even experienced subjects, expect that 100% of the work is and should be done by the Hypnotist. In truth both parties, the hypnotist and the subject, must be willing and able. But while it’s more readily apparent what must be done in order for a tist to be successful in their endeavors, many subjects/potential subjects can have a hard time understanding what it takes to get the most out of their trance, both from pre-recorded files, and from live sessions with a hypnotist. So, I’m here to give you what is in my opinion, the essential Crash Course to Trance, starting first with trancing to files.
Location
Find yourself somewhere nice, darkened and quiet, where you know you won’t be disturbed. This is already a hard task for a lot of subjects, living with other people always increases the chance that one might barge in on you, eyes glazed over, drooling all over yourself. Or that someone’s reckless pounding from above might shake the abyss so thoroughly that it takes you out of trance. But here is the thing I will stress. While physical quiet is a good idea as it allows you to focus on the words and suggestions streaming into your head. What matters so much more is internal peace and quiet. A location where you can feel at ease and safe and secure in yourself. A locked bedroom surrounded by mountains of pillows. Your favorite plush armchair that threatens to swallow you almost as well as the Abyss of Trance. The peaceful morning route on the train whose path you know so well that you can be lulled into trance just by the rumbling vibrations of the tracks beneath your seat. Wherever you can be comfortable.
The ideal location for trance I'm sure does exist in some government facility or therapists office somewhere, where you can be dropped into an isolation tank and be brainwashed clean. But most of us will never encounter that. So what matters then is the ideal mindset for trance, which is one of peace, safety, trust and assurance.
Equipment
This is one of the reasons so many love using files. Because its barrier to entry is so low. All you really need is something to play the file on and a place to listen. This is in contrast to working directly with a tist where you need, at the very least, A good internet connection, maybe a camera, Another person who you trust and who might be wildly inconsistent. Or working in person which probably will require a whole location and time-table to get set up. No, Files are relatively simple and they are no better or worse than live sessions for certain purposes. However, like all simple things, they can be elevated by improving its ingredients. A box cake from the store and a home-made chiffon are functionally the same, but their difference comes in the ingredients and technique.
So for trance I recommend spoiling yourself a little, at the very least buy yourself some decent quality over-ear headphones. Many file-makers (myself included) add frequencies and binaural beats underneath the main track. These serve the purpose of training your own brain’s waveforms to a certain frequency, thus more easily taking you into trance. But they can only be detected and properly registered with some good headphones. Additionally, The encapsulation of headphones provides a more immersive experience, isolating you and transporting you through the trance experience like you are in your own little world. Trust me. $600 studio headphones aren’t needed, But a good quality wired $40 headset goes a long way and is multi-purpose. A decent quality chair or mattress also will serve you well, not just in trance but in life.
Focus
Trance is a very tricky state that, like all things, requires practice and patience to master. Staying in trance is like a tightrope walk, teetering gently between the realm of consciousness and awareness, and the oblivion of total subconscious and sleep. It is the liminal space between the two, that subconscious space that makes trance and hypnosis possible. It is the state where your mind is most open to total suggestion and where magical things can happen. So how does one walk the line between these two modes of being? The answer is focus. Or rather Half-focus. Focusing without focusing. With descriptions like that it can sound like some kind of Zen riddle, but that is often what it feels like sometimes. Now this is not a laser focus like you would expect in a classroom setting, no one is being tested here. It's a more gentle and subtle focus. Like focusing on the world around you. Focusing on the wind on your face, the rise and fall of your lungs; On the way your body just goes loose and slumps over. The trick is to go in and to follow along, to listen and pay attention and try to comply with the suggestions given at first. Suspend your disbelief and engage with it unironically and without pretense. If you notice yourself drifting, don’t try to force it back to focus. Simply let it explore where it wants and to carry on organically. Nothing in trance needs to be forced. Simply focused on and allowed to happen.
Many subs oscillate in trance, their minds ebbing and flowing like a Sine wave; wavering in and out of trance, one minute aware, the next minute completely blank and asleep, and then for a brief moment in bliss. But it averages out to trance at the end of it. One must also not fear dropping out of trance. Focusing too much on that eventuality makes it a self fulfilling prophecy. Just Focus-not-focus-half-focus and enjoy yourself.
Apprehension
So many subjects look at files and their mind begins to spin with endless questions and anxieties. Worries about “losing themselves” or “changing too much” or “doing things they don’t want to do.” It’s a valid set of concerns for a new subject, uninitiated in the true mechanics of trance and only knowing of hypnosis what is shown in the media. Evil villains and monsters brainwashing our heroes to do horribly enticing and arousing things. So ingrained is this idea that it even crossed over into the allure of hypnosis files. And while I won’t say it's impossible for that to happen, I have 3 comments on it to ease your mind. First, with Files, one of the best things about it is that the subject gets to control practically every single aspect of the experience. When you do it, how many times you listen, and whether you listen at all to begin with. While all files should be clearly labelled with Content and trigger warnings and given an explicit summary of what they are and what they do, we know that is not the case. The amount of “Mystery files” I've seen on various forums irks me to no end. But it appeals to some people. However, for those who are not particularly fond of surprises you have the absolute power to review the file before you trance to it. You can give it a fully aware walk through, or just jump through segments to look for anything that doesn’t suit your taste.
Once you’ve done that however you might still be conflicted about some content. Not openly averse to it, but unsure. Dumbing down and IQ reduction are probably number one on this list. People are so terrified of somehow losing everything when they learn to stop overthinking things. For these concerns my second point suggests Introspection. Ask yourself “Why do I/Don’t I want this?” “Is it really as bad as my anxiety is making it out to be?” Because if you like something a lot, and really want it, then why should you deny yourself it out of fear? Even aside from dumbing, many desires are tinged with this air of guilt or fear. Terrified to acknowledge or grab hold of what we truly want and own up to it. In my estimation Hypnosis can be one of the best ways of dabbling with those desires because in trance there is no shame or judgement. Finally, my 3rd point says you don’t have to worry. If you really don’t like a suggestion you can always leave it behind. Your mind has built in fail-safes to reject suggestions you haven’t agreed to. A file cannot make you do something unless you want it, at least subconsciously. The old cliche goes “All Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis” and what that fundamentally means is that as a subject you are the one who decides what happens. You consent and go along with things and allow them to happen to you. It is your desire, your focus, your arousal and your own subconscious that allows hypnosis to work. Subjects have more power than they know. I really hope it assists some people in vibing better with trance and files. I’ll be putting out another version for Live hypnotists later this month.
Thanks again to Acro for letting me use their Art, definitely go and support them on twitter. And If you want to support the creation of more hypnotic experiences that might help you practice that balance of focus then you can do so by subscribing to my Patreon, or to my Youtube channel. And if you want to interact more closely with me and my supportive community you can join my Discord server.

Been thinking about what Mordred's life in Camelot would've been like if Merlin didn't hate him and then thought about how if Morgana was around she would probably always give him her favor at every tournament (until he married) and the other knights would tease him for that so have a broad outline for a Beloved Characters Dont Turn Evil AU
Morgana discovers her magic and Merlin swears to her that he'll protect her. He comforts her when she's scared and Merlin begs Gaius to share his knowledge and suspicions about Morgana to Morgana herself. One night Morgana bursts into their quarters in hysterics, waking them up, screaming and sobbing, and it feels like Merlin's hug is the only thing holding her together but its not enough. Glass starts shattering, candles flare, chandeliers fall to the ground. Gaius decides at this point not telling her will do considerable more harm than not, to both herself and others. They stay up through the night. Gaius speaking and Morgana asking questions, Merlin with a supportive hand on Morgana's shoulder. At one point Morgana tearfully asks the question Merlin asked Gaius long ago, "am i a monster?". They all fall asleep at the table, and that morning when Gwen arrives to wake Morgana only to find her absent with her blankets thrown over the bed and several things knocked over she runs and alerts the guards. The guards initiate lockdown and the commotion reaches Uther and wakes Arthur (Merlin is once again late), and they proceed to fear she was kidnapped right under their noses without anyone knowing. Arthur runs down to get Merlin so he can prepare him for the day only to open the door to find the three of them asleep on the table.
Later Merlin organizes for Morgana to learn more than Gaius can tell her from the Druids, but she intends to stay the night at least, if not then significantly longer (anywhere from a week to several months), and they have no good excuse for her to use that would allow her to leave without Gwen and guards. They come up with some very convoluted plan, which does not end up in the raid that occurred in canon, and when Gwen catches her sneaking back she lies and says she wanted to check up on Mordred (who she did run into), to see if he was with the Druid encampment that was rumored to be nearby (which he was). She didn't learn nearly as much as she hoped in those few hours, but they at least pointed her in a direction.
Morgause comes to town, and leaves Morgana her bracelet. After discovering it stops her visions Morgana takes it to Gaius, who reveals it was enchanted and looks similar to the one Lady Vivienne used to wear. Morgana states Morgause got it from her mother, but that Lady Vivienne was Morgana's mother and wonders how the bracelet ever got to Morgause. Gaius says there was a rumor that Lady Vivienne had a baby that displayed a affinity for magic, but Gorlois told Uther their baby had died before they even named her. Gaius reveals that the baby was smuggled out of Camelot and given to the High Priestesses, and Morgause might very well be that baby. Morgana begins to long for a connection with Morgause, to meet the sister she never knew of and recover something of her dead parents. When she begins secretly meeting Morgause, she tells Merlin and then asks him to come with her when she begins receiving lessons from her. Morgause tries to convince them that killing Uther is the right thing to do, but Merlin keeps reassuring Morgana that all they need to do is convince Arthur to change the law for when he is king, and he's not ready to do that now so theres no use in killing Uther before he's ready, and that she does love Uther and Uther does love her and would try to "fix" her well before he ordered her death. Morgause still wants him dead, to rush the prophecy of magic's return. Them sneaking out every few nights cements the idea that Morgana and Merlin are secretly dating in castle gossip.
Im not sure what happens with Morgause, but i think she would still take Camelot at some point and she would spare Morgana and by extension Merlin. Morgana and Merlin make sure to get Arthur out (and Merlin probably goes with him) because they dont trust Morgause to not kill him. Morgause reveals her heritage (and makes Morgana a Princess and her Heir) despite claiming the throne for people of magic and not the House of Gorlois, and the knowledge that Vivienne and one of her daughters were sorceresses leads Uther to believe he can not save Morgana from magic that is likely in her blood and THAT is what breaks his mental state. Morgana's real heritage is revealed soon after, with Uther informing Gaius that Morgana being a Princess is actually within her birth rights. Morgause continues Morgana's training because at some point Morgana has to become a High Priestess because canon. That or Morgause switches sides (this is a Beloved Characters Dont Go Evil AU might as well make it No Beloved Characters Are Evil AU) and she trains Morgana later after Arthur is a established King.
Morgause is overthrown and the Round Table formed. Arthur as well as several people in the castle know of or suspect Morgana of being a sorceress but he refuses to banish her, first believing it to have been out of her control (forced by Morgause) and later learning that her nightmares had been magic all along (how could he punish her for something he knows she had tried to get rid of for over a decade?). Perhaps he lets her keep the title of Princess, having always seen her as a sister (and someone who is compassionate for the people in a way royalty should be) and armed with the new knowledge of her being his actual sister. Everyone expects Regent Arthur to crack down on magic, its what Uther would have done and what the people want, so he does. Morgana becomes a advocate for magic, as she had been for Arthur in private as a Prince, and it scares people in the castle. They believe her to be working with Morgause, despite her arguments being for individuals' wellbeing and how punishments fuels hatred for Camelot. Several attempts are made on her life, many stopped by Merlin and Gwen and sometimes Lancelot. Arthur often "asks" Merlin for his opinion on magic and with Morgana's voice being public he feels okay with being straight with Arthur on what he thinks. Uther dies same as he did in canon: protecting Arthur from a assassination.
Mordred becomes a Knight because canon. Morgana is ecstatic to see him again and acts like a mother who hasn't seen her child in ages when she first sees him. Merlin has learned you often make the enemies that are destined to kill you (ex. trying to stop Morgana's visions from coming true) so he ignores Kilgharrah and doesn't hate Mordred (he is always wary though). Mordred alternates between childlike eagerness around the knights and following Merlin around while hero worshiping him (no one can figure out why. Their best guess is that Morgana is a mutual friend). In the beginning he kept messing up his name (calling him "Merlin" is just weird) and they often talk in their heads and therefore just stare at each other which has led to two conflicting rumors: theyre in love or they hate each other. Morgana often invites him to dinner, and when they dine with Arthur they easily slip into mind-talking (because chewing) and Arthur is convinced that they're making fun of him every time they do it. He protects Arthur when Merlin can't, often runs off to do side quests Merlin needs to do but cant get away to do, and often tags along with Merlin on his quests. Being able to share the knowledge of his destiny since Lancelot died (if he dies in this AU) relaxes Merlin's caution and allows him to be emotionally closer to him. Mordred enjoys being around Merlin and Morgana not just because he's Emrys and she's Morgana, but because they are the closest thing to home he has: they know what he is, they understand (bits) of his culture and make it possible for Mordred to share it with them, their individual magic sings strong enough to remind him of when he lived surrounded by it. He quickly grows to love them so very much and no one understands WHY. The knights tease him about it, and Morgana forcing Arthur to take Mordred on certain missions he isnt qualified for "so he can learn" does not help. Gwaine and Percival were planning to convince him that he couldnt compete in a tournament without a lady's favor because he's the rookie and his panicked look greatly amuses them only to find Morgana giving him her's before kissing his cheek. They were relentless after that, alternating between "lady's favors dont count if they're from your mom," "Mordred has a girlfriend," and whatever the medieval version of affectionately calling him "Bambi" is. Morgana sits in the stand's throne (since Arthur is competing) or besides it if Gwen is queen, and she flashes a smile at him when he comes out (Gwen too. He's a sweet kid with a baby face, of course he's one of her favorites. He also reminds her of Merlin when she first met him: kind, awkward, cute). This settles Mordred's nerves but has the unfortunate side effect of increased teasing. Merlin doesn't let it go to far, he never does, and gives them a distraction before running back to Arthur.
And then magic is brought back to the land and Morgana continues the work of the High Priestesses and helps the rebuilding efforts and they're still adventures and problems, but everyone Lives Happily Ever After

i love reading your thoughts on characters, it's very refreshing. even if i disagree with some, it's still very entertaining and not offensive. it's actually quite hilarious because it does makes sense when you put it in a certain way. i'd love to know what you think of anakin/vader, the good and the bad :3
I’m glad, at the very least, I entertain with my fandom heresy.
As for Anakin Skywalker, there’s a lot to say about him, too much I honestly feel like for one post. So, I think I’m going to go large with this and if people want thoughts on specific things we can narrow down from there.
I think Anakin is the truest incarnation of the Force that has ever existed in the mortal world, is essentially the avatar of an all powerful god, terrifyingly powerful in a ways the movies don’t truly touch upon, and the sign that the Force fully intended for the organizations of Force Sensitives to be eradicated: both Jedi and Sith. A lot of people brush over what Anakin is, how he was born, and what his midichlorian count really means.
Part of this is that the dialogue Lucas gave us was a bit ambiguous. We’re told Anakin has an unprecedented number of midichlorians and are given a few off hand lines regarding how this is possible and why Anakin is “the chosen one”.
First, Shmi tells Qui-Gon that Anakin has no father. When I watched Phantom Menace the first time, god knows how long ago, I took this to mean, “Oh, Shmi doesn’t want to discuss the father”. Either this meant the father had run out, Shmi had been raped (which as a slave was highly possible), or something bad was intertwined with whoever the father was. I didn’t realize until later that this was supposed to be, “No, biologically, Anakin Skywalker has no father. This is immaculate conception.” This is brought up only once then never touched on again.
We then have Palpatine’s weird storytime to Anakin, about Darth Plagueis, in which he never confesses in the films that he was the apprentice to murder his master and that, the life they induced, was likely Anakin himself. This is all stuff you have to piece together on your own. More on this later though, we’re coming back to this one.
The other reason I think people skip over it is that I’ve found people get really weird about religion in fiction. Even made up space religions that mirror, in a sense, Christianity. People take a look at that Space Jesus thing and go “MMM, DON’T WANT THAT” and run in the other direction.
Regardless though, look at Anakin at the cellular level and he’s mostly Force with some smatterings of Shmi thrown in there to give him this human shell and human personality.
Which beggars the question: why would the Force make a mortal avatar?
We have a few answers to this: the prophecy and Palpatine.
The prophecy long predates Palpatine and we’re given an alarmingly vague prophecy that Qui-Gon Jinn, in his hubris, interprets in the most optimistic way he possibly can. A Force Sensitive Jedi will bring balance to the Force. Qui-Gon interprets this to mean that he will finally wipe out the Sith. Nevermind that, despite the Sith reemergence in Phantom Menace, the Jedi are in a near unprecedented position of power and control who have beaten back the Sith threat almost into non-existence. What does balance mean, Qui-Gon? Why are you so certain the Force is on your side?
As for Palpatine, we know he and his master were mucking about with life, the universe, etc. and they somehow manage to produce a miracle. They create life from almost nothing.
Personally, I think they were only successful because the Force allowed them to be. Anakin’s life was predetermined, ergo, they are allowed to induce it on his behalf. Perhaps, behind the scenes, they’re even prompted to.
Because I do not believe the Force is benign or necessarily on the side of the Jedi. The God of Star Wars is a very present, very powerful, being. Yet, despite this, Star Wars faces the same questions about the Riddle of Evil that we do. If the Force exists, if it is all powerful, if it is benign, then why do the Sith exist? Why do bad things happen?
One answer is that the Force really isn’t all that sentient or have a will of its own. It’s more the combined life force energy of everyone, so people direct it. However, the feeling the films always convey is that there is a sense of purpose to the Force. We have prophecies, we have events that seem predetermined, we have people being guided by the Force.
And we have Anakin Skywalker, who fulfils the prophecy in every single respect.
He balances the Force, he eliminates both the Jedi Order, puts it in a position where it will likely never recover, and then eliminates the Sith by murdering himself and Palpatine (we’ll get to the sequels and Palpatine’s miraculous survival).
Given everything, given what Anakin is, I can’t interpret this as anything but the Force wanting to get rid of organizations actively manipulating it. Which makes sense, in a way. Both the Sith and Jedi actively manipulate the Force in increasingly brazen manners. If one can ascribe the Force a personality, I imagine both factions really pissed it off. So, Anakin became the tool to do so.
With his death and his task done, unwittingly by him, the Jedi only survive in Luke who isn’t a Jedi at all. The Sith and Jedi religion are over, purged, and whatever we get next will never be what it was.
As for Palpatine’s survival well... If the Force wished to eliminate the Jedi and the Sith, then I imagine it just about died when Luke made a Jedi Academy. And after all the work of Anakin, after all that effort, it just throws its hands in the air and says, “GODDAMMIT I’M BRINGING BACK PALPATINE”. So we get Palpatine back, the Jedi Academy burns down, ten or so years later we get Rey who then murders Palpatine, and we’re back to a world with no Jedi and no Sith.
Until Rey starts an academy and I’m sure Palpatine will resurrect a third time, perhaps in Godzilla form, and smash the academy to pieces while breathing fire.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eve’s Contract:
Eve’s soul is unique as it appears to be linked to the past ancestry of humans linked by the Vinculum Infernalis. Due to this her soul is far more powerful and can utilize more of their own abilities. The first contract she ends up bound to is Cubans. In exchange for her life as well as their own protection she works at the club as their little songbird. She becomes an undercover agent to infiltrate the boys enemies or rivals since the human soul has the ability to mask demonic presence. She ends up with a second contract to Costello for other reasons (spoilers). In addition to being able to use the abilities of the boys, the contractee is also able to wield their specific weapons. Each one corresponds to a specific Prince and the higher level the more powerful.
Unbeknownst to Eve her father is none other than one of the three most powerful beings in existence. As such she does not know her true lineage. Her father, Kalthiel, watches her from afar and aids when he is able but she does not know of his involvement. Her conception was a byproduct of her mother’s deal with the Broker. Unfortunately her ancestral blood caused her to be baden and in desperation she made a deal to have a child. A child that would one day be a tri-brid. One of mortal, Celestial, and Infernal blood.
Fusion:
Fusion is an interesting scenario since Eve is contracted to not one but two princes of Hell. She gains many abilities and one of those is being able to fuse her bound soul with that of her demonic counterpart(s) creating a fusion of herself and their own hellish forms. The soul however can only stand so much and if that goes beyond its limit the human soul could be damaged permanently. This form is dangerous for anyone and a last resort at best.
Eve’s Ancestry /The Vinculum Infernalis:
Humans in this universe do not believe in the existence of monsters very much like our own world. They are nothing but stories and myths. Demons are the exact same. There is a story that may allude to the fact that demons were created with monsters as punishment for humanity's evil. That is neither confirmed or denied. What is known is that demons used to walk the surface regularly a long time ago.
Humans in their lust for power (a very debatable comment) made contracts with these creatures in exchange for their souls, something that demons covet to gain more power themselves. Those that made these contracts became witches/ warlocks, having Infernal blood and magic infused within their very being. As every demon is unique so were the souls. The first covens were formed after 12 survivors managed to break their contracts leaving the magic within their souls present. As they began to have children that magic too was passed down. Humans with any type of magic are extraordinarily rare and one mage soul can rival over 1000 regular human souls. Eve appears to have a connection or blood relation to one of these surviving lines.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other Classifications:
The Legend of Lilith (Lillum): It is unclear if this history happened or not because the Princes refuse to discuss it. (That can’t be good) The truth of this prophecy, or for most harbinger, is that a generation will be born with power equal to that of their fathers. Since the Princes can not have offspring it takes a very specific mix for this to be possible. Such things are up to fate. All that is known is that it will rival the Celestials if it comes to pass as one of Celestial, Infernal, and mortal blood has to be the one...or there could be more. Legends and prophecy tend to be incredibly vague.
The Covens and their Patrons: After the formation of the Vinculum Infernalis the Princes decide that instead of regarding the mortals with disdain as they did during their Celestial reign they become patrons instead. In total there are 7 covens with a hierarchy of who is the most powerful. They are as follows:
Coven Names in Prestige Order (greatest to least): 1. Lust - Circle of the Siren (Costello/ Valentine)
2. Pride - Requiem of the Hallowed (Carthus/ Dusk)
3. Envy - Elysium (Sanneth)
4. Wrath - The Acolytes of Flame and Forge (Boss/ Azrin)
5. Greed - Coven of the Blood Moon (Crimson/ Grimm)
6. Sloth - The Desolate Forgotten (Gin)
7. Gluttony - Circle of the Ancients (Ouro)
Those of the first blood line under the Vinculum Infernalis are the most powerful of their coven and seated at a special rank due to their rarity. Unlike those of the first line the members of the coven are not Infernal/Celestial blooded.
The First Grimoire: Just because their bond and Infernal blood comes from their ancestral line does not mean that they are as powerful as they once were. In fact there is a Grimoire for each specific coven that only a direct descendant from the line can utilize and open. It is incredibly rare and the first bloodline (the ones that first made the deal) are thought to be dead so the books reside in the highest ranks of the 7 covens until such a time comes that they can be opened. There are Grimoire for every acolyte (the book chooses you type deal) but not anywhere close to those labeled the first Grimoire. These tomes are written entirely in High Infernal Script. These are incredibly deadly and powerful Infernal artifacts and each comes with a specific name:
Lust- Willbinder, Memoire of Blackfire
Pride- Featherfall, Legacy of Pride
Envy- Ash, Oath of Lasting Night
Wrath- Flameward, Boon of Slaughter
Greed- Sapience, Soul of Desecration
Sloth- Draughtbane, Tome of apathy
Gluttony- Apostle, Ledger of the Devourer
Coven Organization (Hierarchy): Each coven is organized by the will of the Prince that is its patron. They can recruit neophytes with no prior ties if they deem them worthy enough to be inducted into the coven. There is still a process and ceremony that needs to be followed. Once the initiation is complete they are tutored by generally a well learned acolyte (think of them as TAs) while Dominus and Magus are the instructors. If they prove their worth then they will be given a grimoire that chooses them to become an Acolyte. They are then placed under a bond similar to the Vinculum Infernalis but not nearly as strong and there is quite a lot of fine print.
*The First Bloods- A specific rank for those that are of the first bloodline. They actually have Infernal/Celestial blood within their veins which makes them some of the most powerful of the witches/warlocks. Their souls are also marked if they are a part of their first bloodline.
1. Mortiferum Magistrum- The heads of the covens and the most skilled practitioners. They run more of the direct communication between the Infernal Realm (their patrons) and those under their coven. Some have spoken directly to their Patron but for the most part they are dealing with dukes or lords. There is only one of this rank in each coven.
2. Dominus- The recruiters with approval from the Mortiferum Magistrum. Their job is to maintain the order within the lower levels of the coven. They are also teachers along with the Magus.
3. Magus- A magus’ job is to teach their acolytes higher level abilities and possibly prepare them for Magus status as well. In each coven there can be an unlimited number of Magus but only 2 or 3 Dominus.
4. Acolyte- Servants of the coven and the second lowest tier these are the students.
5. Neophyte- Those that possibly have potential but have not yet proven themselves to the rest of the coven. You have to start as a Neophyte first. The only exception to this are the First Bloods.
The Cult of the Fallen One (THE LITERAL DEVIL):
Tumblr media
Hedge Witches/Warlocks: The Hedges probably nicknamed as such due to the phrase “hedging one's bets” are dangerous and rebellious. They are mortals with a craving for power and magic that were neither chosen or of the First Bloods. These are the types of mortals that will make contracts with Imps and Changelings in order to reach a certain end. Sometimes that is wealth, power, magic it just depends. They are not Infernal blooded. These are the souls that end up in the Kingdom of Envy under Sanneth. He does not take kindly to greedy and foolish mortals. The Hedges are the ones that originally proclaimed witchcraft pointing to the covens effectively thinning their once steadily rising numbers.
They are reckless and generally only care for their own ends. They are the ones that give witches and warlocks a bad name. Unlike those of the coven they gain no such immunity from the Infernal Pit. It is easy for lesser demons to trick these mortals into freeing them to cause chaos in the mortal realm. This includes cracking open Purgatory for some unsavory Infernal Blooded Hybrids to slip through.

Annabeth Chase: Ravenclaw or Slytherin?
This is so hard. So, before we start: English isn’t my first language, so sorry for my grammar errors. Then, this is MY opinion, if you have another one, you can comment and talk about it. Let’s start step by step.
-Why Annabeth isn’t an Hufflepuff? I think everyone agree that Annabeth can’t be an Hufflepuff. So move on.
- Could Annabeth be a Gryffindor? This question is nice, and I’ll show you why Annabeth can’t be a Gryffindor.
1- Let’s compare Hermione and Annabeth. They’re very similar. They’re smart, clever, and are respectively the best friends of our protagonist. They’re also  stubborn and proud. But there are some differences, example: on the way they use their intelligence. Hermione is more practical: she don’t know something, she goes to the library. The golden trio must solve something they don’t know? Hermione goes to library. She’s smart, but also recognize that she can’t know everything. She always learn something new in every book. While the Annabeth’s intelligence is different. She never asks for help, she never searches in books the answer. She uses her brain, and thinks a lot, like in MoA. Annabeth, being daughter of Athena, prefer to think and to invent a strategy. She’s more schedule. Of course she’s read a lot, otherwise she wouldn’t know all these things, but when it comes a problem she prefers to cling only on her intelligence. I think they’re both have these differences due to their personality: Hermione is more insecure, and she knows deeply she can’t know everything, and we can say her intelligence is more practical. Annabeth is proud and confidence of her intelligence, and we can say that her intelligence is more strategic and “abstract” (take this adjective with a grain of salt. Abstract stands for “I don’t search in book, I use my mind”).
2- Being a leader. Annabeth, we know very well, in HOO is the leader of the seven. But she’s not a leader because she want to, but because otherwise Percy and Jason could actually kill each other (I’m kidding). I mean she is the leader because everyone know she’s more strategic and keeps everyone concentrate. She have to take matters into her own hands, before something tragical happens. I think these are not qualities of a Gryffindor leader. A Gryffindor is a leader because of his/her glory and sense of justice. Annabeth is not a leader because of this things.
3- Another proof of why she isn’t a Gryffindor is the way she refuse to follow Luke. Luke was her friend, she was loyal to him. But after he change she doesn’t follow him anymore. Then, Luke goes to her and asks her for help. She doesn’t trust him. She loose her faith in him. So she doesn’t listen to him. Now, Gryffindors are very stubborn and they don’t forgive easily, but they also have a nobile heart. A Gryffindor would never abandon someone who needs help, they’re too knightly and they have a nobile heart.
-Is Annabeth a Ravenclaw? Oh, gods. This is hard. Annabeth has all the reason to be a Ravenclaw, really. She’s intelligence, wise, creative (She want to be and architect). But there’s something missing. Annabeth has not an abstract mind. Let’s compare her with Luna. Luna has a very abstract mind, she’s creative, she’s dreamy, and she thinks a lot before doing something. Annabeth is not like that:
1- Annabeth is too impulsive. Okay, she is intelligence, clever, and knows always what to do in a fight and she always has a strategy (remember in the first book when they’re playing capture the flag: “Athena always has a plan” GODS I LOVE HER). But this is only when it comes to practical things: in feelings she isn’t so rational. She’s impulsive, almost aggressive sometimes, and she scares people (like Jason in The Lost Hero, lol). Ravenclaw are more pragmatic in every part of their life, even sentimental life. They rarely get controlled by their feelings, they rather be rational than being impulsive. Or at least, this is the way I understand Ravenclaw.
2- Annabeth hasn’t an open mind. Don’t get me wrong, now I'll explain myself with an example: Tyson and Annabeth. Annabeth at first doesn’t like Tyson, she treats him bad and without respect. This is because Tyson is a cyclops, and Annabeth is scared of them. First, this way of behavior isn’t rational, she only follows her instinct. Second, Annabeth has the same problem Hermione has with Luna. She has prejudice. That’s because Annabeth can’t be a Ravenclaw, her mind is too schedule, too much organized, and she never try too see Tyson’s point o view. Ravenclaw are open minded, they’re mind are always in process of new things and they don’t have problem to have a discussion. Annabeth mind doesn’t process like that. It’s not a bad thing, she just needs more time to assimilate this kind of things that touch her personally. Another example: when she’s angry or scared she tends to run away, she avoid the discussion. Example: in the battle of labyrinth where Annabeth avoid to discuss with Percy about Luke, about Rachel and about the last line of the prophecy.
3-Annabeth gets angry with the Sphinx. In the Battle of Labyrinth Annabeth gets really really angry with the Sphinx because her questions were silly and, like, offended her intelligence. This is because these questions were just something that you know, you don’t have to think about it: or you know the answer or not. Annabeth want from the Sphinx a guessing game, something that challenges her mind. If in one hand this behavior can be of a Ravenclaw, at other hand it’s almost of a Slytherin. She gets offended, and she gets angry: the Sphinx touch her pride and her wisdom, which is the only “power” she has. It’s not also the silly game, but the fact that this game offend her pride. And we know that Annabeth is really proud.
So...what’s Annabeth? I think now you know what I think about her. Yes, she’s a Slytherin. And now I’ll tell you why. At first I thought “Annabeth is a Ravenclaw”, but she has some Slytherin behavior that we can’t avoid.
1-She’s proud. Slytherin are well known to be proud, they prefer kill themseves rather than accept they’re wrong. Same as Annabeth. She’s a daughter of Athena and is normal to her thinking she’s always right. She’s stubborn, she doesn’t change idea easily, until she actually smash her face to a close door. Example: her relationship with Luke. Annabeth always think that Luke can be save, that he’s not evil, that he’s good. But when she see what he did to Selena she cries and she figures it out what he really becomes. Deeply she knows Percy was right about Luke, but admit she was wrong (to Percy, by the way) is like stabbing her pride. Being proud is not only a Slytherin thing, even Gryffindors can be proud. But Annabeth is proud is more similar to the Slytherin. If someone touch Annabeth’s pride she gets angry, she doesn’t want to discuss and she run away. I think this is a Slytherin attitude.
2- Again, I’m sad there’s no good Slytherin to compare her with. We only have Regulus, and I'll make him enough. They’re a lot similar, especially in loyalty. So, Regulus is on the side of Voldemort, he thinks Voldy has great purposes. But when Regulus finds out how much wiling Voldemort was to go, he turns his back to him. He agrees with his thoughts, but not with his measures. His loyalty ends in the moment Voldemort goes against Regulus’ principles. They’re not compatible in that way. So he goes against him, and he died trying to. Annabeth does the same with Luke. They’re friends at first, Annabeth even thought she was in love with him, but when she realizes what Luke does to achieve his goals she goes against him. Yeah, she never thought he was evil, but this doesn’t change anything. She stands for what she thinks is right, even if the purpose of Luke was interesting and attractive to her. Her loyalty to Luke ends in the same way of Regulus and Voldemort. Slytherin loyalty is selective and ends in the moment one goes against the goals and principles of the other.
About loyalty, we said that Slytherin loyalty is restrictive only to a small group. And that’s valid for Annabeth too. It might seem she’s loyal to everyone, but are we sure? She never says what she feels to anyone except Percy. She hides things that worries her from the seven, except Percy. She doesn’t trust Romans, but she’s trying. Her loyalty is very restrictive and hard to achieve. We know really well she has trust issues.
3- Annabeth fatal law: hubris. And that’s said all. She thinks she can do better than gods, that she can do a restart of the world with no wars, no poverty. She feels the same of Luke, that she can change the world in better because she’s better than everyone else. I don’t want to sound, well, too drastic, but these thoughts remember me Voldemort. Slytherin are ambitious, they think they’re better than everyone and they’re quite arrogant sometimes. Annabeth fits perfectly this category.
4-She’s ambitious. Annabeth want to be an architect and she’s sure she will be one. She want to be recognize by everyone, leave an imprint to the world, be remember. This is so Slytherin, right? Having a purpose, being ambitious and be faithful only to this. We know she want to built something permanent also for personal reason, but we have to notice this part of her.
5- She want to impress people. She really care of the opinion of people she cares about. And doesn’t want to disappoint anyone, because she feels it like a personal failure. Example: In MoA when Athena is angry with her, the goddess says she is disappointed by Annabeth. This opinion (fuck you Athena, you make sad our Annabeth) almost corrode her in the inside. She said she always try to make Athena proud of her. This kind of behavior makes me remember Draco. Even Draco cares a lot on what their parents think of him, he change for them, he do what they wanted him to do. Annabeth is quite the same, but she’s not a coward like Draco, so she’ll never change for Athena.
So, to recap, Annabeth has both Ravenclaw and Slytherin qualities. But her character has more qualities and defects of the Slytherin house. She has all of them: ambitious, intelligence, she want to be respected and she want fame. I think people don’t want her in Slytherin because Annabeth is a good person...I mean, you could be good and be in Slytherin, too. Unfortunately Slytherins are saw in this way for the picture and the stereotype Rowling create around them. Well, adding Annabeth in the Slytherin house can break down these stereotypes :)
So, this is what I think, tell me your opinion in the comments and reblog if you like this! Kiss x

Imagine (Son of Hades! Percy; Godswapped! Big Three's kids) Mark of Athena Pt. 2 AU (4/7) or (9/12)
So yeah it got... big. I wasn't expecting it - but sure! Here it comes part 2 of 3 of 5! Check the masterpost before reading - it's essential for the understanding. And read the warnings before proceeding. Enjoy and leave reviews and suggestions :))
Hazel, Leo, Frank, and Perseus go back to the Argo II, to find Piper trying to wrangle the Cornucopia into not just dropping mountains of food.
Perseus tries to help - and between him and Jason, who is the son of a fertility god after all - they manage to get a picnic - which, great because it's already evening and they're all hungry teenagers.
That's when they discover that's Jason's birthday - the 23 of July, coincidentally, Neptunalia - and begin to swarm him. It's shocking that he never had a birthday party - or birthday cake. The Romans don't care about it - their prowess in the training fields is what marks them as children or men.
Perseus - who was kidnapped in mid-November, months after his birthday - is internally shocked - but can do nothing about it.
He doesn't think he could give anything useful to Jason in such short notice - so Perseus promises to, after this all ends, take him to see something new - perhaps Cairo? He is sure Carter would be happy to see him.
Ah, yes. The Kanes - one of his only adventures in between those two big prophecies. He went - with Nico of all people - to help the Egyptian sorcerers - and almost ended up possessed by Sadie's god boyfriend's mother. Overall, a bizarre experience.
And he never wants to share a body with Neftis again. It's weird, it's bizarre, he doesn't like it, he gets body disphoria - no.
Even though the Egyptian Underworld is really cool - there are a lot of snakes down there. And a lot of space - which is weird, because Hades also takes a lot of space. Are these hells in different dimensions?
That's not even counting the time he and Thalia mind-wiped a Titan - with Lethe's water of all things. He left Bob/Iapetus under Persephone's care - and then promptly disappeared. Not literally - Perseus just had no time for the titan, and it's something he regrets deeply.
Maybe after this all ends, he can go visit Bob and the Kanes. Maybe it's time the pantheons are no longer apart.
Perseus knows that all pantheons eventually cross - Isis is as Greek as she is Egyptian - but they don't talk about it. They pretend their Isis and the greek one are different - while the goddess has so many aspects she might as well be a thousand different deities.
Is there a Hindi pantheon? A Polynesian one? Is Amaterasu real? The Orixás? Quetzalcóatl? The Nordics? Are the Celtics aspects of the Norse? What about the Welsh? How many Underworlds exist? If any worshiped god appears - does God with a capital G exists? Perseus is going to find out. But now he has more pressing issues right now.
Leo doesn't want to discuss Nemesis, but, after singing happy birthday to a very embarrassed Jason (who is probably pondering the implications of Perseus' offer - Leo is pretty sure the guy isn't asking his bestie in a date, but who is he to shatter his buddy's delusions?), Perseus corners him.
He doesn't know what to do about the price - he isn't sure of much. Perseus promises that nothing will harm him under his watch. It's weird - Nobody ever cared about Leo before. Perseus hugs him - the first time he starts a hug himself - and Leo feels like, maybe, that's what having a family feels like.
He wonders if Charles Beckendorf was for Perseus what Perseus is trying to be for him - he wonders if Percy is doing this out of guilt. Leo can't complain - the arms feel warm around him.
Percy and he return to the party, to see Piper in a panic. She asked Katoptris for a way to Nico - under Hazel's prompting - and it showed her a vision of Nova Roma organizing the army to invade Camp Half-Blood - Reyna is stalling them, but not for long. She prays for Perseus to come back - she can't do this with no allies.
The reason for it is apparently the abduction and coercion of two of their praetors, their General and a Centurion - enough to start a war. Perseus could shadow travel back - but it would take at least a week to come and go - and they do not have a week. Any Iris Messaging would be useless - they would think he controlled by Piper.
So they go to sleep, hands tied. Doesn't Octavian see they have bigger fish to fry? Lady Terra, Gaea, is out there - planning to destroy everything. He might as well be on league with her.
Perseus sleeps and has another one of his prophetic dreams. It's a giant - one he doesn't recognize - explaining to Ephialtes why do they need Perseus.
Apparently, to wake up Gaea, they need a mortal son of the Earth and a mortal daughter of the Sea. Daughters of the sea are easy to find - all children of Aphrodite are technically from the sea - but children of the Earth can only be children of Hades or Pluto.
And she tried other options - they tried to sacrifice a son of Demeter and a daughter of Venus Victrix - but it wasn't enough. The power in their blood was too diluted, their connection to life only enough to give Gaea this bare level of awareness that she uses to torture them. To wake up completely, she would need Perseus' blood - Perseus' and Piper's - the strongest daughter of Aphrodite alive.
Gaea voice taunts him from somewhere, telling him to not worry - she took the girl who loves him forever, that Annabeth and Malcolm will no longer be a problem.
The vision changes and shows a spiral staircase near the forum, and Perseus can hear their voices screaming - but he knows there's the place they need to go if they want to find Nico. He is not scared - he went through worse. Perseus has no time to dwell in Gaea's taunts - it's probably just her messing with his mind again.
He wakes up and tells his dreams to Jason. They decide they should go - and take Piper and Hazel - the more involved with this side quest of theirs - with them.
Jason goes first - he breathes underwater, and looking at the giant well, Perseus is almost regretting coming. When he comes back, he tells them he had found something, which turns out to be a Nymphaeum.
The nymph Hagno - who Perseus mentally calls old Hag - and others - the nine nymphs that watched over Zeus with Gaea when he was born - appear and flood the chamber with evil water - they say it's payment - the gods' own them. Perseus can see where Zeus' entitlement comes from.
He starts to panic - he shouldn't have come. He hates water - he is going to drown here, under this muddy water that looks way to much like the muskeg for his liking. Hazel is trying to calm him - with no success because she starts panicking too - she is a child of the sky, after all.
The nymphs begin to drain the three of their power, stealing Jason's control over water, Perseus' control over the earth, Hazel's control over electricity, and Piper's beauty in order to be young again.
Perseus is so tired that he keeps paying for the gods' debts, that he keeps giving and repairing their mistakes - that these people keep throwing their grudges unto them. He just wants to let go - die, finally, but they will just throw their problems to new innocent people.
Because Perseus is innocent. They all are - they are children! This can't keep happening, the gods can't keep throwing their shit onto them! And there's no stopping it - he thought last time he solved everything, but alas, he can't solve every little squabble the gods start.
He helped the demigods and minor gods. And then there are nymphs, dryads, satyrs, fauns, centaurs, spirits, personifications, titans, children of titans, primordials, rivers, monsters. An array of immortal beings who would keep on asking, keep on holding eternal grudges that demigods would pay for.
There is no number of wishes that could ever solve this. They would have to reform the whole Olympus - to be the ones making the decisions. To be the ones to stop sending twelve-year-olds in harrowing death missions.
Maybe, this time, Perseus should become a god. Maybe if he is the one judging, he might be able to help. He might be able to stop the gods from doing stupid decisions that only prejudice their kids.
But what if he can't? What if he becomes one of them? Is he prepared to lose everyone he cares about? He was always a loner - but is he able to leave everyone behind? His friends? His mother?
While Perseus wallows in his own panic and misery, Piper comes up with the idea to funnel all their positive thoughts into the Cornucopia, which releases the positive emotions as clean water. It's lucky they have Hazel and Jason - because Perseus is in a very dark place right now.
As the three release almost all their power into the Cornucopia, the nymphs become young again and spare them, as the power they gave them as a gift, and they restore the four back to full strength, as well as telling them the location of Otis and Ephialtes.
Perseus doesn't take this as an apology. He doesn't think it's enough - the nymphs tortured them for their own sake and act as if it's a favor that they restored them - and he has a grudge.
They took from them - and didn't give anything back. A little bit of information and the powers that are already theirs? The hags steal their powers and give them back - and think this is mercy?
Perseus is going to show them what mercy is like. As soon as they are out of the Nymphaeum, the earth trembles - he makes the whole thing collapse into an opening in the earth. He is sending all of them directly to Hades - they took from him and had the gall to tell him to be grateful.
The others in his group look at him worriedly, like he is going to kill them next. Perseus is okay with that - it's not the first time someone hates him because of what he can do. He tells himself it doesn't hurt.
It's a lie.
They go back to the ship. The sun is rising - Hazel gives the others the bare bones of the story, leaving out the part where Perseus freaked out and killed ten nymphs out of rage.
No one asks why they are so tense - why Perseus stormed to the training arena and didn't left since, why Jason doesn't make eye contact with anyone else, why Piper went to her room in silence.
Jason goes to talk with Perseus later - Percy doesn't want to talk. They spar twice before the son of Hades' relents and cries - he didn't want to kill anyone, he just wanted someone to pay.
Jason tells him no one hates him. That those nymphs were monsters - empty platitudes. Perseus says how much he hates drowning - Jason shares how much darkness scares him sometimes.
Piper comes in halfway and lays down on the floor with them, and shares how it's still hard for her to feel like herself - to look at her body and see a girl. How she hopes one day to have the right parts, to be able to wear what she likes and don't feel like a boy.
Leo is the next to wander in - "Are we sharing traumatic life stories?" - and tells them how much he still feels dumb, inferior to those around him - the way his fire always damned him. Frank comes next - him and the peril of ever dying, the crippling anxiety of a piece of wood.
Will is the last to join in. Will tells them about being the responsible one - how it was hard when Lee lost his arm, when Michael died and he was only thirteen.
He tells them how Lee got depression after Michael died and the one-armed boy couldn't help, couldn't save his brother. Will tells them about how he fears for his twelve siblings - how he is the youngest acting counselor because his only older brother doesn't leave his bed anymore.
They just lay there on the floor, together. Until Hazel appears - she had a vision. Nico has no more time. They thought they had some hours more to mindstorm - but alas, it's time.
Not everyone can go - it's a rescue mission, a stealth one at that. And Leo needs time to steer the ship towards the giants. So Perseus, Jason, and Hazel go after her little brother - and Frank, Leo, Piper, and Will will meet them there.
The trio finds the cage - suspended meters over the air. Hazel uses her powers over energy to bring it down - the metal is so overcharged that is simple for her, while Jason battle the two giant eagles with a mini hurricane.
Hazel frees her brother - who is barely breathing - and it seems too easy. The giants appear - and while they cannot kill Perseus, their onslaught against the other two is immediate.
Perseus fights against Ephialtes while Jason battles Otis. Hazel stands guard over her frère's prone body - no one is taking any more family from her.
It's a sight to go down in the myths - Jason is fighting with his sword - Undisonos - against Otis. His chest keeps emitting a sound - the siren song - which keeps distracting the giant, while they strike against one another.
Perseus is not doing worse - stone spikes appear every time Ephialtes tries to stab him - shadows curl around the giant's throat, strangling it.
Ephialtes taunts Perseus - says Annabeth and Malcolm are already lost, already gone. That this is his legacy - causing the death of his friends. It only serves to push him further.
In the midst of the battle, a hydra appears - and Perseus has no qualms in spearing each of its heads with a stone spike, before burning them with hellish fire, draining his powers to kill Ephialtes before the giant destroys him.
Hazel gets caught in the earth trembling - and passes out by Nico, who has no forces to defend her. It's Jason who ends up defending both of them, after a well-localized jab into Otis sternum.
It's not enough - they start to reform immediately, seeing the lack of a god's help. Perseus - who is sustaining himself into the wall and can feel at least four broken ribs and a twisted ankle - rages. He doesn't stop when Dionysus appears.
Dionysus is not Bacchus - he isn't a mindless drunk. But he is a selfish bastard - and says he will only help if they entertain him enough.
Perseus wants to scream, didn't they entertain the gods enough?! Didn't he die enough for them, for their cushioned, easy lives?! Didn't he do enough?! He lost all his teenage years - his whole life - to keep their asses safe, from Hyperion, Kronos, mythical monsters, his own friends.
Jason and Perseus agree to fight together this time and charge the two - both of them at the same time, both equally about to drop down - but rage fuel both of them.
Perseus is drawing strength from the earth below - the same earth that reforms the giants again and again - while Jason pulls force from the river behind them.
Jason blasts the giants with a wave that can only be compared to a small tsunami causing the fake mountain the two were holding to fall on Ephialtes.
Otis charges the two and Perseus trembles the earth, throwing him into the lake, and the two slash at him - Perseus with his ax, Jason with his sword. Jason then uses the water to keep the dust from reforming.
It's like fighting with an extension of themselves - where Perseus fails to block, Jason appears - when Jason misses a step, Perseus is there to cover him. The earth starts to shake - stronger this time - and they know they are doing this together.
Ephialtes then escapes from the fake mountain and charges the two, but they are keeping up. It's difficult, however - Perseus is drained to the point of exhaustion, and Jason is only going because of the water behind him.
A misstep and Ephialtes almost takes Jason's head off. Perseus is only safe because Gaea needs him - for her sacrifice, for her everything.
But the Argo II appears overhead and blasts the giant with Greek Fire from the cannons. Leo is whooping from the balustrade with sunglasses perched at his nose - Perseus can faintly hear "Fireworks" from Katy Perry blasting from inside the ship, and wonders if he has already lost any of his remaining sanity.
Dionysus considers that the show was entertaining enough, and finishes both giants with his Thyrsus, claiming the victory to himself. Perseus resists the urge to punch him - he is getting way better at this.
Before he leaves, he confirms Ephialtes words - Annabeth and Malcolm will be lost to the weaver - and tells them where to find them.
Back on board, Nico - under the care of Will, who can barely touch the over-energized guy - tells them he was captured by the twin giants as he looked for the Doors of Death.
He tells them he never found the other side - for he could not go into Tartarus - but the earthly side - close to where he was captured - was in the House of Hades - heavily protected by monsters.
Perseus thinks that only he will be able to go into Tartarus - they have to close the Doors both ways, after all. But there's no returning - and no way for him to survive down there.
Will this be his legacy? Dying in an Underworld wasteland, alone? Nico looks at him and must catch what he is thinking, because when everybody leaves the infirmary, Nico holds his wrist.
"Don't do it, Percy-..." He coughs "Please don't do anything stupid. I can't lose you."
"How could I?" Perseus answers "You carrying all the stupid with you. How could you think it was okay to just-..."
"Promise me, Percy" Nico interrupts, as seriously as he can. "I know I did a lot, and you probably hate me..."
"I don't hate you, Di Angelo" Perseus sighs. "I promise you - you'll never lose me okay? I didn't come all this way to save your ass for nothing."
And he leaves, still uncertain. Is it worth it? Could they find a better way? Or does he need to die - over and over again? Were the Fates mad the first prophecy didn't take him?
Annabeth tricks Arachne - and is tricked back by her own hubris against her brother, who keeps telling her to shut up, taunting the already defeated monster - who ends up opening the hole into Tartarus.
They blast a hole into a parking lot - just in time to rescue the children of Athena, who partially already rescued themselves.
"Hey, Wise Girl"
"Hey, Corpse Breath"
Everyone works together to load the statue into the ship. This time, there's two children of Athena. This time, there are ten people in the ship. This time, Nico has never walked into Tartarus.
But in somethings, history never changes: Arachne attaches a thread to Annabeth's weak leg. She tries to bring the child of Athena to the pit with her. But Perseus - who is just behind her - is quicker.
Perseus uses the shadows - with the last of his reserves - to pull Annabeth back, cutting the thread linking her to the pit with his ax. Annabeth is safe - one of her hands holds to the ladder.
But Perseus is not.
He flickers - like a ghost. These were the last of his energies, and he topples backward, into the Pit. A hand holds on to him - Nico. He tries to fly them out - but he is still too weak.
It's time.
"It was always supposed to be that way, wasn't it?"
Nico holds on in despair - he can feel hands holding his calves, trying to push them back - But Perseus is muscular and tall, and there's no one to help.
"No, no, Percy, don't you dare to let go, don't you dare!"
It was always his destiny - the one who sacrifices himself for everyone else. Nico thinks that, if Perseus doesn't ask for his own peace this time, he might ask on his behalf.
"Someone needs to close it from the other side. I am the only one who can."
There's a smile upon his lips - resigned to his fate. There are tears on Nico's eyes. The hand slips.
"You promised!"
He can hear Annabeth screaming, trying to get to them. The floor is too slippery. Nico feels Perseus slipping - the boy flickers again, like a ghost.
"Di Angelo, please"
A figurine of Zeus. A pavilion full of spartoi. Grover telling him stories. A white cell in Olympus. Green eyes flashing black. An invincible demigod against a thousand monsters.
"No, no, I won't fail you, not again!"
A greek with no memories in a toga, a fist punching his face, the warmth of a hug, walking through ruins, his capture.
"Nico, let me go."
Nico's mistakes pilling up, adoration swelling in his chest like a thousand suns. Maybe that's what love feels like.
"No!"
The hand keeps slipping, the Pit pulling him in, and Perseus flickers again - his hand can barely hold on to his ax.
"I see you on the other side"
He falls.
Alone.
Silence. There's a scream caught on Nico's throat - he won't be able to recall the next minutes. Somehow he takes Annabeth back to the ship. He doesn't remember climbing the ladder.
He thinks he wants to jump after him - but restrains himself - it was not the time to play the martyr.
They ask about Perseus, but neither of them can speak - their voices are gone. The parking lot collapse.
Jason keeps asking - if Perseus has shadow travelled, if he called for Blackjack, if he got lost.
"He is gone"
Nico finally answers, because he can't take the questions anymore. They don't understand.
"Gone? Gone where?" Asks Leo, still confused.
"He fell" It's Annabeth, in shock, who replies "He... He fell in the Pit. To save me. Percy fell. He... he's gone. He is in the Pit. Oh, oh my gods Percy is in Tartarus. It's all my fault I can't - I can't, he is gone, gone!"
She starts crying copiously. Malcolm holds her - he is the only one able to do so. Jason falls onto his knees, lost to the world. Piper sits beside him in shock. Will goes overboard and vomits - he looks like he is about to pass out.
Frank supports Hazel as the girl starts crying, trying to breathe and finding no air. Leo sits - there's tears in his eyes, but a determined look in his face. He looks at Nico, as if prompting him.
"He asked us to meet him on the other side." It's everything he needs to say. No one stops crying - but everyone is startled into motion.
"Festus, raise the sails. We've got a brother to save."
They are going to the House of Hades.

Things I Love About “Good Omens” (From A Christian)
I read the book a year ago but only just watched the show because of a fluke that made us get Amazon Prime. And now that I’ve gotten to watch it and really absorb it (and not be on a ton of painkillers, since I was recovering from surgery when I read it), I realized there were SO many things I love about it, most of which come from the fact that I...am Christian.
(So heads up: I’ll be referring to all this stuff as if it’s real since...it’s my belief system and I feel “Good Omens” is an awesome show so yaaay, celebrate that darn adorable angel and demon with me) (WARNING- LONG POST AHEAD)
- First and foremost: Jesus’ death. The way that was HANDLED so well just blew my mind. I have anxiety so I’ve tried to avoid all crucifixions scenes but I’m glad this was the one I saw because it was so respectful and heartbreaking (i was sobbing).
- It was also cool to see Jesus’ death from the perspective of people who aren’t Christian and to see that although they don’t believe him to be the Son Of God, they still recognize it as a tragedy.
-  Frances McDormand as God. Okay, I was iffy on it at first but I was reminded that God is supposed to be the mix of masculine and feminine and He presents himself as Father to us so we can get a better idea of who He is. So although I refer to God as a man, He is supposed to be reflective of both so having a woman voice Him is a really interesting viewpoint........And I just like Frances McDormand.
- Newt’s casting. Just...so perfect. Exactly the way I pictured him.
- The fact that the angels mention how they’re celestial and not organic because HEEEELL yes,
- Adam and his friends ringing their bike bells just to tell everyone how they got into the airbase. Iconic.
- The fact that they toned down the Famine sequence. Reading that part made me feel so sick so I’m glad they toned it down for the screen.
- Michael Sheen’s terrifyingly accurate David Tennant impression.
- The angels, though seen as more aggressive than they probably are, are militant and that’s...kinda what they’re meant to be.
- The fact Heaven is filmed to be nauseating because (in my theory), we as humans find being good to be incredibly hard and stressful so we can’t imagine what it would be like to constantly be good.
- They defeated Satan with a MEME.
- Bonus: They defeated Satan and we got to SEE IT.
- Michael McKean. Bonus points because he’s one of my mom’s favourites and he made us all so happy.
- I’ve read Revelation TWICE and it wasn’t until I saw this that I learned 666 is an actual thing and not just a meme.
- The moment when Crowley prays. Biblically inaccurate but I sorta saw it as us in sin, as humans, praying to God because I have BEEN THERE. The amount of times I’ve asked God- “What do I do. I don’t know what to do,” is wild and I did it just earlier. And that moment hit me.
- “Oh.........FUCK,” *heavenly jingle intensifies*
-  THE FACT THAT REVELATION KINDA HAPPENED
- The fact that, besides Crowley, there are no redeeming qualities in the demons. That’s a hard thing to write and they nailed it.
- *to the Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc jingle* Demons are holding a buuuuckeet!
- Although Aziraphale is genuinely a bad angel, he’s a pretty good representation of what we should try to be as Christians: loving, trying to help everyone, not kill kids, etc.
- “Tickety-boo,”
- The fact that they literally got ALL OF THE HOLMES SIBLINGS TO BE IN THIS LIKE WHAT-
- “We are Satantic nuns,”
- BOOK ACCURATE DIALOGUE
- I will praise Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett on this forever but the fact that the kids talk like kids. Because kids talk like adults. Because kids are little adults. Love it.
- The moment when Aziraphale at the sword and said to Adam- “We’ll be right beside you,” was like a hardcore guardian angel moment and I was SHOOK.
- The casting of literally anyone to play the angels, demons, and supernatural beings because- as Neil Gaiman and the Bible say- they’re genderless. They’re angels and demons.
- When Madame Tracy just screamed at that woman and she screamed back. That must’ve been so much fun to film, my goodness.
- The narrative creates a flawed way to try and talk to God and recognizes that it’s a flawed way, whereas the real way in the belief system isn’t because we as humans find it difficult to fathom that you can just...talk to the Big Boss.
- The little add-on that that one angel was from Sodom and Gomorrah. Which made me laugh but then made me sad.
- NOT ONE HUMAN BIBLICAL FIGURE WAS WHITE. NOT. ONE. AMEN.
- Those crappy camp chairs being in Hell because of COURSE they are
- The sea monsters. I just really like the sea monsters in Revelation so that was cool.
- Got to see Death ride that motorcycle because that’s the closest that we’re probably getting to a live-action “Soul Music”.
- War’s jacket.
- The fact that I had an existential moment when I realized Death being an actual...being is Biblical.
- Every “Doctor Who” reference.
- The hint that God planned everything because...just up.
- The repeated emphasis on how supernatural beings aren’t the reason behind every choice or event in history. Because they really aren’t. WWII happened because of humans. Supernatural beings can influence but they aren’t the REASON for everything.
- The pushing of the idea that the plan is “ineffable” but it constantly contradicts this idea because even in real life, God’s plan has never been ineffable.
- “He was waving,”
- God narrates so He/She knows everything which kinda gives Aziraphale and Crowley a Jonah-feel since they’re trying to outrun an almighty being. And obviously failing.
- Aziraphale’s gasp when he got betrayed. Legend.
- Agnes Nutter’s prophecies being insanely specific like the actual prophecies in the Bible. (I read a verse and Jesus said- “Remember me when there’s anger in the streets” and I was like WAIT)
- The emphasis that most- if not all- witch killings were rooted in sexism and superstitions. Also, that whole scene gave me “Holy Grail” vibes which is always a win.
- And most importantly: “Good Omens” has fun with the creatures and supernatural beings in the Christian belief system but never ONCE makes fun of the religion itself or the people who believe in it. The book takes an extra step and mocks organized religion (which, YES, do that, please) but it’s never mean-spirited. While flawed and inaccurate in some Biblical aspects (like the basic plot), it’s so funny and witty while remaining accurate in other aspects to the source material of the Bible such as the supernatural beings being genderless. It’s basically like- “Woah...it says in Revelation that there are giant sea monsters! We get to write giant sea monsters, awesome! What can we make the sea monsters do? OOooh, what if they took down a whaling ship?” It also gets the message of Christianity down: love others, forgive others, give second chances. And I feel that’s why it’s so effective, because it’s fun and cool but still hits those perfect emotional beats that resonate with everyone because they’re true. Love each other.
And go read more Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. They deserve all the love.

@gkrosental Oh, I’ve blogged about this before, but it’s split between various posts. So, it might be hard to find. You can check my blog, though, for #advanced technology, #medical technology, #technological advances, #medical advances, #reaper technology, etc. Oh... and stuff like #george and #giygas....
For one thing, that’s not Sebastian’s mobile; it’s the one Vanel’s thugs have. He just takes it from one of them to talk to Vanel.
The other thing is that modern technology shows up in the manga quite frequently, and Yana-san explained once that it’s an alternate universe to begin with, and these things are, therefore, only... slightly anachronistic. Let’s not forget that our earl has some kind of television; it’s been vaguely mentioned by our earl and Finny, and much more directly mentioned by Soma. Funny thing about the TV is that our earl must not be the only one to have one, since John Brown mentions the same TV program to the crowd at the Crystal Palace; he promotes the rumor that the show is based on Queen Victoria! But yeah... some of them are definitely still anachronistic, even for the Kuroverse.
The reapers (and their superiors) have advanced technology. We know this for a fact; even ages ago, when Othello was newer to the reaper organization, he’s seen carrying around a box of computer parts, like a keyboard. Othello says that humans can get ahold of such knowledge through demon contracts, etc. Even though Sebastian hasn’t been told (that we know of) to “invent stuff for me” by our earl, we can pretty well assume that Funtom’s innovative toys come from a combination of our earl’s imagination and Sebastian’s demonic abilities. Funtom is best known for its Bitter Rabbits and candies, but they also sell video game consoles... with game controllers connected by wires. Indeed, Funtom sells a few things that you’d only expect the reapers to have. But it doesn’t end with Funtom, not even regarding video games. How else would Chlaus show up in ch1 with that game cartridge packaging for “Mouse3”? It was actually full of the drug evidence he’d brought back from Italy... but the packaging is probably legit.
I suspect that reapers, like Undertaker, also have an effect on the advancements that humans make... accelerating the process of innovation. Those dialysis machines are a perfect example. I’m not sure yet who actually built them. Perhaps Druitt, since he has a medical license? And because Undertaker saved him on the Campania for REASONS...?
At one point, during the murders arc, Charles Grey makes a comment that Germany’s about ten years ahead of where it should be; I’m not sure how he learned that (perhaps from John Brown?!?), but this means that the Kuroverse is dealing with an accelerated timeline for its technological advances. Characters like Grey and Othello acknowledge something is amiss. But, it’s complicated why it’s happening. Germany might have some reaper or demon/angel intervention, too, but they also have/had prodigies, like Sieglinde Sullivan. She managed something her parents, with all their learning and training, had failed to do. SuLin was the result. Idk how they got the rest of the advanced technology they are using, like radar and tanks. Divine intervention? Other geniuses? Since coming to Great Britain, Sieglinde has continued to shock and amaze with her latest inventions... which seem to be financially backed by the queen....
The reason I mentioned #george and #giygas is because of my main theory regarding Black Butler... that’s it’s largely based on a Nintendo game called Mother3. I mean, that’s what “Mouse3” by “Ninkyodo” refers to, after all. But, as I’ve said in many of my posts about this, it’s not just Mother3 being used for the manga series; it’s the entire game series. And this topic is one of those situations that requires going all the way back to the first installment: Mother. In the US, it was titled EarthBound: Beginnings.
In Mother, a young alien, named Giygas (the translation varies, but this is one of the common ones), is traveling from their home planet, populated by this technologically advanced civilization. Their spacecraft crash lands on Earth and they are taken in by a couple, named George and Maria. They raise them as their own, and they later manage to travel with Giygas back towards their home planet, and Maria stays there... but George returns to Earth... with stolen technology, which he continues to research... and spreads around to other humans. Giygas is sent by their superiors to stop George, because the alien race is worried that humans will eventually use their own technology against them. However, George has died by the time Giygas returns to Earth, so they decide to target George’s descendants. Humans have started to incorporate the knowledge that George brought back; it’s even showing up in some humans’ natural abilities, as if it’s being genetically inherited. We meet one of those descendants, Ninten. He, with the help of friends, has to collect melodies from a song and sing it to Queen Mary, who is... kind of like Maria... but on another plane of existence, called Magicant.
Later, Ness (in Mother2, aka EarthBound) and his pals have to fight people who are under Giygas’ power, including a rather bothersome and wholly self-centered boy named Pokey Minch. By now, Giygas has been driven mad by his futile attempts to stop the spread of this stolen technology and knowledge. Then they have to fight Pokey Minch again, but Pokey has been drastically changed by time-traveling equipment he stole from a human inventor (Dr. Andonuts). Ness and his friends have to fight not just this futuristic version of Pokey but also an unhinged and unleashed version of Giygas; the alien has lost their physical form and now exists as an evil force of immense power. Through prayer (mostly), Ness and his friends are able to banish ... perhaps truly destroy... Giygas, but Pokey escapes to cause problems yet another time.
With Mother3, which never got a worldwide release (which is why Chlaus says in Black Butler that “Mouse3” [and the drugs] were hard to get ahold of in Italy), mirror twin brothers Claus and Lucas get separated after their mother is killed (and their father is too full of grief to help them). Claus ends up missing (he’s dead at the bottom of a cliff), and Lucas and the family dog, Boney, go on a quest to avenge his family. Lucas, Boney, and friends they make have to defeat King Porky; King Porky is what the time-traveling Pokey Minch decides to call himself when he travels to this future setting and settles down to become a tyrant. Giygas seems to be gone, but King Porky still follows Giygas’ destructive life path. King Porky is obsessed with popularity and technological advances. And, at some point, the lifeless body of Claus gets turned into a Fascinating Chimera, and the mirror twin brothers have to compete to fulfill a prophecy... of waking the Dark Dragon. Dr. Andonuts was previously forced to help King Porky, but even he eventually gets revenge.
I have a lot of posts about Mother3 theory, and I’m trying to focus here on a particular aspect, so here are some parallels, particularly regarding technology:
Our earl — Lucas
Real Ciel — Claus
Sebastian, under contract — Boney, the loyal family dog
Sebastian, aka the “Black Butler”, once the contract is fulfilled — Dark Dragon, particularly once the prophecy is fulfilled
Undertaker, bringing otherworldly technology to humans — George
Reaper superiors and/or John Brown — the original manifestation of Giygas and that alien race
Reapers, in general — Magypsies, in general
Prince Soma — Pokey Minch
Prince Soma with the Right Hand of Kali — Pokey Minch with the unhinged Giygas (This parallel would be further strengthened if Prince Soma ends up stealing anything out of Sieglinde’s lab or convinces her to make any sort of contraption for him.)
Queen Victoria, who demands unwavering loyalty and is trying to increase Great Britain’s power through technology and new infrastructure — King Porky, who demands the same and is also focused on infrustrucfure, technology, innovation, etc.
Queen Victoria with John Brown — King Porky drunk on unbridled power, basing his actions on what he thinks Giygas would want of him.
Undertaker, inventor of Bizarre Dolls — Dr. Andonuts, inventor of Fascinating Chimera
Sieglinde, chemist and inventor of various contraptions — Dr. Andonuts (also his younger version, Lloyd), inventor of various contraptions
There are so many other parallels, not just in characters and plots, but also in their timelines. However, like I said... I’m trying to focus on your ask regarding technological anachronisms.
TL/DR: It’s definitely supposed to be the Victorian era, but it’s an alternative universe to our own, so it took some different paths along the historical timeline. Add to that the fact that reapers and demons/angels (or other supernatural beings, like gods) have been intervening in human lives, and advanced technologies and innovations have been introduced along the way because of it.
There are lots of examples of this throughout the series, including the mobile phone used by Vanel’s thugs (Sebastian grabbed theirs; he doesn’t have one of his own). Other examples include TVs, video game consoles, war tanks, radar, and all the contraptions Sieglinde makes for herself and for others, like the Phantom Five.
This all works just dandy with my theory that the manga series is largely based on Nintendo’s Mother game series, since both deal quite a bit with “stolen” technology and runaway technology/innovation.
Thanks for the ask and for letting me screenshot the message to answer in a post. 😊

@childrenoflight-darkness-nothing Here’s my attempt to explain Fairytale WIP’s plot so far, bare with me, it’s a mess, and i don’t have everything figured out and this is long and just the first book. But it’s everything i’ve got so far soooooo
*This part is cut up and dispersed throughout everything else that happens* So as a child, Sophia begins to get visions of a coming disaster in the kingdom currently named Evashen, involving attacks from strange shadowy creatures and what many believe to be an ancient demon sealed away and forgotten. She was already known to be Marked by the gods, I can’t help myself every story involves gods to an extent though which is unknown but everyone believes it to be the central high goddess of the pantheon which is even more confirmed by the visions.  As such, she is sent to the heart of the kingdom to train at the temple there to further develop her sight as well as unlock any further powers she should have such as healing. Along the way she befriends Rowan who saved her life and begins to be trained as a soldier possibly because of the incident. While the vision training goes well, the healing never comes to her. Until she makes a deal with what she believes, or says she believes, to be the goddess that seems to unlock something. (I’m not sure about this part honestly, but the princess falls ill and she heals her and befriends her) But she also develops strange side effects from her powers such as seeing the shadow-y creatures around her, her veins turning black, and something talking to and through her more. She also ends up making the prophecy about Rowan that frightens them and their friendship becomes very strained as the attacks begin and the battles get worse. And it becomes increasingly more obvious that Sophia is at least inadvertently if not fully responsible for the attacks and the creatures, and all those people she’s been healing has really been cursing them to become the creatures. And that thing she made the deal with? Yeah, not the high goddess, its actually the demon that’s all sealed away and such, which she’s slowly been aiding in the release of. Oops? (wait hold on I might actually be figuring out the plot by doing this) So somehow Rowan gets fatally injured during one of the battles while trying to protect people, still unaware of her involvement, but she’s aware their injured and. well heals them. Sort of. She’s aware at this point what that means. But around this time, people have figure out what’s going on and SOMEHOW I DON’T KNOW I’LL FIGURE IT OUT EVENTUALLY, the kingdom gets all frozen/locked in time/everyone’s a statue. Excluding Rowan who’s protected because of Sophia doing her. “healing” thing.
*This is where the official story starts, but the other stuff is woven in, heh, is that bad?* Rowan stumbles out of magically cursed kingdom and into a village with the grave news of what has happened, or at least the fractured parts they know and heads to the temple to infrom them. Except, the people at the temple are like “hey wait a minute, you’re Rowan? The Rowan, the one this prophecy is about that says you can save us all” and Rowan, is just like “are you fucking kidding me, how did you know about that, please no not me, I never wanted this let me out help, I’m not a hero, i ran instead of helping” (and yes, this is the happier version because Rowan still has a family to return to that’s not dead a hundred years in the past, ANYWAY). SO then there’s Lynn creeping in the temple, and at this moment in time he works for a group that is trying to revive the demon and was working with/for Sophia (or will be a later date) (unclear if Lynn knows all of this, he was raised in a temple with his sister much like Sophia because they are also Marked, but then the temple basically left them for dead and maybe tried to kill them because they fucked up some prophecy stuff, so this group took them in promising to actually do stuff to help both them and with the invasion of the shadowy beasts that was happening, also Lynn never got to unlock his powers which was very sad, ANYWAY) So Lynn overhears that Rowan is here, and he knows who rowan is, he memorized the prophecy about them, and immediately goes to tell the group who are basically “welp, we gotta stop them before they stop us, send those creatures to kill them” so the creatures attack the town, but of course Rowan beats them, and Lynn starts to realize that maybe he’s on the wrong side of this mess, because someone like this can’t possibly be the monster he’s been told about, and what the hell his powers just showed up and its fire?? That wasn’t supposed to happen? Meanwhile Rowan decides it’s for the best that they leave the town because they’re going to put everyone in danger, and Laurel (WHO SOMEHOW HASN’T COME UP YET) basically says she’s going with them no there’s nothing they can do about it, she’s going to help them save the world, because yes that’s what you’re going to do. So they head back into the magically cursed forest place to figure out how exactly it got cursed, *really sad/creepy scene where they come across the frozen people here* and where the beasts were coming from because they don’t know and oh yeah, did i mention that Rowan is completely unaware of Sophia’s involvement and is hoping there’s a chance to save her along with everyone else?? and slowly they start piecing all of what’s happened together and figuring out that hey? those creatures? maybe we should see if we can save them too. and there’s several interactions with the group lynn’s attached to but i don’t have everything figured out but i think the first book ends around them like. maybe partially breaking the curse on one area/freeing some of the creatures/getting the organization out of that area? but at the same time, the group may have found Sophia?
On the other hand, you have Lynn freaking out because, powers??? I have powers?? WHat?? But also, this organization is very evil what are they doing make it stop, can i stop it (okay this is a lot slower of a realization between figuring out more about his powers and who marked him, as well as what exactly happened to all the people they’ve been healing and his own investigation into the creatures. and then he tells them off and leaves to go find rowan and Laurel and help them out and that’d be around the end of the first book I think, so then in the second book he starts out basically as their or more like Laurel’s prisoner, and there’s lots of slowly growing to trust each other but i haven’t completely figured out the plot of that yet so we’re not there yet.
And that’s the mess of the first books plot?

Are Your Affairs in Order?
 By Dennis Huebshman
Published on: March 26, 2021
As one prophecy expert has stated, now is not the time to “get” ready, but to “be” ready for Jesus to call. There are no other events on the prophetic calendar that need to be completed before all true believers are removed. God has fulfilled every prophecy that was to be completed before the Rapture (harpazo, taking up) with 100% accuracy. There is absolutely no reason to believe He will change now, just as He has never changed His mind about what constitutes an abomination to Him. (any emphasis mine)
One question I have been asked is, “How do I know if I am ‘truly saved’? First and foremost, attending regular church services is not what saves a person. There are those who attend services for human fellowship all their lives yet have never asked Jesus to be their Savior. They will not spend eternity with Him in heaven.
There are some previously Bible-based churches that have turned and are not preaching the true word today. Some are even “tweaking” the Holy Word, saying things like all religions worship the same god, or Jesus is only one of many ways to heaven, or God no longer holds us responsible for what He has declared to be abominations. Some are declaring there’s really no such place as hell. (more on attending church later)
We were told there would be an increase of false prophets in the end time, and today, they are running some prominent organized churches. Our Salvation is an “Individual” relationship with Jesus. Just because a preacher might declare something as being God’s word, unless it truly is in God’s word, it won’t count. All true ministries encourage Bible study to make sure the pastor is actually giving the true word.
There will be people who will have never attended a formal church service, yet they will be saved. Whatever the circumstances were that introduced them to the Savior, that is what led them to call out to Him to be saved. To give the mechanics of this, please follow Romans 10:9-13, and especially verse 13.
(9) “because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (11) For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame’ [also see Isaiah 45:17; Isaiah 54:4; Joel 2:26-27] (12) For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all who call on Him. (13) For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Please note in verse 12 that it says there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. Some other verses that address this are John 10:16, Acts 10:34-35 and Romans 2:11. Our Salvation is through the Grace of Jesus and the Mercy of the Father. Ephesians 2:8-9; “For by Grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” That “gift” of God is His divine Mercy of forgiving all the sins of everyone who receives and accepts Jesus as their Savior. After all, Jesus is the only way to the Father, as stated in John 14:6; John 3:18; Acts 4:12; Romans 8:1; Romans 5:8 and 1 John 5:12, just to name a few.
We are not saved by any works, and it cannot be bought at any price. We also are not saved by being a “good person.” I’ve already given Ephesians 2:8-9, and going even further back, we have Isaiah 64:6; “We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our “righteous deeds” are like a polluted garment.”
How about Psalm 103:10-12; “He does not deal with us according to our sins; nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear [respect] Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.”
Romans 8:1 does not say there is “no condemnation for all who are regular churchgoers.” It states, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Please know, I am not cutting out the value of Church fellowship. What I am saying is, be there for the right reason. Jesus held “services” almost everywhere. The religious leaders in the “Temple” should have been the most righteous but were clearly far removed from God’s true word. Jesus didn’t hesitate to point this out to them often.
It’s the condition of each and every individual’s heart that counts, no matter who they are or where they are from. There are people in other countries who are being martyred for their faith because they have accepted Jesus as their Savior, and even the prospect of death does not pull them away from Him.
So far, we have been fortunate in America that we have less persecution than this. However, the day is rapidly approaching when this will not be the case. There will be an evil ruler of the world that will demand everyone worship him or be killed. That will be during the 7-year tribulation, and it’s stated that 2/3 of the world population will perish (Zechariah 13:8).
That time is very near; the Rapture is even closer than that. God says in 1 Thessalonians 1:10 and 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 that true believers will not go through the wrath. His word is good (Titus 1:2), and His timing is perfect.
While you may still have time, call out to the Savior to forgive you of your sins (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23) and for Him to be your Savior forever. We can’t even begin to imagine just how close it is that Jesus will call. Afterward, it will be the most terrible time this earth has ever had. If you call on Him right now, you will “be ready.”
All who refuse to have Jesus as their Savior will end up at the Great White Throne of Revelation 20:11-15 and then join Satan, the antichrist, and the false prophet in the Lake of Fire. Hell was made for Satan and his followers, as stated in Matthew 25:41.
No matter what else your life may be involved in right now, there’s nothing as important as your eternal destiny. Our entire lifetime here is less than one blink of the eye compared to eternity.
What is God waiting for? How about one more Gentile? Romans 11:25; “Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers; a partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.”
Fullness means total. Just think, are you that last Gentile? One day soon, it will happen, and those who have Jesus will be gone from this earth. Meanwhile, God is giving us time by being patient with us (2 Peter 3:9), but as always happened in scripture, when the time was up, it happened suddenly.
Make sure your affairs are in order. Call out to Jesus to be your Savior, and when you do sin, ask His forgiveness, and it will be granted as stated in 1 John 1:8-10. You must know that His gift totally paid our way, and He will leave no one behind who is part of His flock (John 10).
He will force no one but will accept all who call on Him to be saved (Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13). Right now would not be too early to call on Him. He is listening.
Come, Lord Jesus!

Buffy: the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Season 1
Hello and Welcome back my creepy congregation! We will be taking todays service from the Big Screen into your living room for our first Personal Devotional. That's Right! We're reviewing full seasons of television series now and what better way to bring the spirit of the genre film to the idiots lantern that with the 90s Television sensation and all around love letter to the horror genre, Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
The Message
Regardless of how one may feel about Mr. Whedon we can't deny how much we love Buffy Summers and the Kids who live and die in Sunnydale! Season one of Buffy was a spin off/reboot of the earlier film and an attempt by Whedon to course correct the franchise by breathing a little charm and attention into the subject matter.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Season 1) focuses on Buffy Summers, a not so typical California high school student who, due to the events of the movie, has been relocated to Sunnydale High. Buffy is not just a cute, athletic, teenage girl looking to enjoy the prime of her life, though she is those things, she is also the Slayer, an anointed warrior who has been reincarnated throughout the generations to protect our vulnerable weak human world from the forces of evil; particularly Vampires. Buffy is a sort of supernatural Captain America, that is a peak human being, but instead of Nazi Science she was born with her powers.
Joining Buffy are; High School outcasts Willow and Xander (a nerd and a nice guy respectively), The ridiculously sexy librarian Rupert Giles (her mentor, guardian, high school librarian, and all around precious papa bear), Jenny Calendar (a technopagan computer teacher armed with all the mystery an ignorant 90s boomer could attribute to the internet), Angel (Spoiler: He's a Vampire, but he's a good guy. A hunky, broody, good guy vampire love interest), and her loving but entirely oblivious mother. The Scoobies as they have come to be called aid Buffy in her quest to protect Sunnydale from Dark Forces.
And Speaking of those Dark Forces, they are primarily vampires, led by the Master; an ancient vampire who resembles to some degree Nosferatu and a Bat, a look that Guillermo Del Toro would later perfect in his own series the Strain. The Master seeks to fulfill an ancient prophecy that would open the Hellmouth (a portal to hell, exactly what it sounds like) and free him in order that he and his kind should conquer the world.
The first season is fairly short consisting of the following adventures.
1. Welcome to the Hellmouth - Buffy moves to Sunnydale seeking to leave her Vampire ways behind, but the vampires just won't let her catch a break.
2. The Harvest - Vampire Shenanigans continues. Buffy learns of the Master.
3. Witch - A fellow Cheerleader is possessed by her witchy mom.
4. Teachers Pet - Buffy vs Giant Mantis
5. Never Kill a Boy on the First Date - Buffy vs the Anointed One (Not Really)
6. The Pack - Buffy vs Hyena Possessed High School Bullies
7. Angel - Buffy vs Angel but actually Darla
8. I, Robot ... you, Jane - Buffy vs Internet Demon
9. The Puppet Show - Buffy and Sid the Dummy vs Organ Harvesting Demon
10. Nightmares - Buffy has bad dreams
11. Out of Mind, Out of Sight - Buffy vs Invisible Nerd
12. Prophecy Girl - Buffy vs The Master (also Buffy Dies)
Overall the short season, while not allowing for too much world building, kept the show to a format that allowed very little filler. So although we mostly only get vampires as villains, we don't have enough time to really be bored of it. Some of the shows dynamics and cultural concerns definitely date the series but overall Season 1 of Buffy is definitely not a difficult watch, and can be enjoyed over and over again.
Let's get to the Benediction:
Best Character: Slay Girl, Slay!
As far as season one goes the titular Buffy Summers is the best character. Sarah Michelle Gellar is absolutely charismatic in the lead role and though at times she may seem selfish or reckless it makes perfect sense for the character. The character is allowed to be weak, to be selfish, and to be unlikeable. She avoids the foibles of a Luke Skywalker or a Harry Potter. She joins the ranks of primary protagonists who are not constantly outshined by their supporting cast. I believe when Buffy is sad, I believe when she throws a punch, I believe she struggles with her destiny. The only thing I don't believe is how ditsy she let's on.
Best Actor: Head's Up!
Anthony Stewart Head. Head as Giles is just fantastic. His balance of frustration with Buffy and genuinely parental concern is heartwarming and absolutely makes Giles one of the warmest father figures in television history.
Best Episode: A 'Master'ful Finale
It all builds up to Prophecy Girl and for good reason. Television shows often have mini-finale's at the end of their first seasons because the teams behind the series are not sure they will have a chance to tell more of their story. For that reason you can see just the first season of most television series and feel like you've heard the whole deal. I wish this habit was kept up in other seasons as we wouldn't still be wondering what the hell happened to Joel at the end of the Santa Clarita Diet. Buffy is no exception to this phenomenon and therefor attempted to tie up much of it's narrative in Prophecy Girl. While that often means big bads will be dispatched, I think it's a small price to pay for not winding up in a cliff hanger. Buffy and Giles just shine in this episode, Angel is given a more heroic role, Willow finally values herself as she should and Xander stops being a fucking horrible human being for once. This episode really satisfies in all areas.
Best Villain: Sweet, Sweetheart Killer
It's such a shame that Darla was killed so early on in the franchise. She is such a great presence on the screen that she overshadows all the villains that play alongside her, even the Master. I would have loved to have seen an alternate season where she offs the old coot and assumes the role of big bad much like Spike does in Season 2. Lucky for everyone that Darla is featured throughout the show in flashbacks and I hear she is even resurrected in Angel. Also, for Scott Pilgrim fans I feel like she and Envy Adams are very much sympatico. Maybe if they reboot Buffy all my dreams will come true.
I'd also like to take this time to recommend the song Angels and Darlas by Say Hi! It's pretty good.
Best Monster Design: Internet Troll!
While I can't speak for where the money in Season 1 of Buffy went, I can say that at least some decent cash was spent on both the forms of Moloch the Corruptor from the Episode "I, Robot ... You, Jane". Moloch was pretty wicked looking as a machine toward the end of the episode, he looked like a Mortal Kombat villain, but it's the green scales and ram horns the actor is sporting at the beginning of the episode that really catches the eye. In fact, I'm feeling compelled to hunt down any Moloch the Corruptor merch that may be out there on the internet. It's certainly no mystery why the demon's face is featured prominently in the theme song. It just looks great! Good job to the make up department there.
Most WTF moment: "Pack"s a Punch on Principle
While not the greatest episode in season one "the Pack" is certainly worth the watch if for no other reason than the horror is kicked up when a group of high school students under the influence of a malevolent Hyena God, decide that the School Mascot is not enough to satisfy their bloodlust turn on the principal, and yes, THEY EAT HIM. I remember being completely caught of guard the first time I saw that scene, and it kickstarted the running gag of Sunnydale high principles meeting their demise in horrific ways.
Worst Character: No More Mr. Nice Guy
When I was in college I often felt bad for Xander. The funny guy who just had no luck with women. He was sarcastic but had a big heart, and used a horny gimmick to mask his loneliness, or so I thought. But now I am older, I am wiser, I have known the touch of another human being and I have to say that Xander Harris is a really scummy fellow. I don't remember thinking so poorly and I wonder if the character develops a more nuanced view of women as the show goes on. As it stands there's barely a point in the series that Xander does not view the female cast as objects for him to enjoy or be embittered towards for one reason or another. It's not charming, it's foul. Xander Harris of season one is absolutely a terrorist attack waiting to happen, if Buffy had happened today it would be much more concerning to see someone so embittered, horny, and entitled to womens time and energy as Xander Harris. Dude is one step away from pulling an Elliot Rogers. Calm down buddy and maybe actually listen to a woman and you may find you aren't as much of a 'nice guy' as you think.
Worst Episode(s): If you're not first ...
It's a toss up on this one. Season One of Buffy is actually so short and concise that the 'Monster of the Week' episodes will have to be up for grabs as the worst episode by default, but even they are pretty watchable and don't warrant the vitriol a "worst" dub usually entails. I'd say there is not a worst episode of season one, just some episodes that aren't as good as the rest. In that vain, take your pick from "Witch", "Out of Mind, Out of Sight", or "The Puppet Show". However, I'd be doing a disservice to those episodes not to mention that each one of them takes what could just be a basic Buffy Vs (insert Villain), and does something unique and interesting with the idea. The villain of "Witch" actually turns out to be a has been cheerleader actually possessing the body of her innocent daughter to relive her glory years, The Invisible Girl is actually the victim of social cruelty, her peers disinterest in her manifesting in her condition becoming quite literal and she is picked up by the military in the end, then the Puppet show, well, it's just about the stupidest most absurd thing that could possibly happen and it's completely unafraid of that fact.
Summary:
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Season 1) is not the most groundbreaking TV, but it is absolutely evident why the show was such a phenomenon. Season 1 is particularly rewatchable. It does not demand too much investment or attention, but it will get it from you, especially on a first viewing. It's not afraid to take itself absolutely seriously or to plant it's tongue firmly in it's cheeks. It is to a degree a product of it's time, but in many other aspects feels timeless.
Overall Grade: B

From The Warsaw Ghetto- To The Gaza Strip
(Palestinians versus Israel)
By Stephen Jay Morris
May 14, 2021
©Scientific Morality
The bifurcation of metaphysical morality boils down to good and evil.  This is intended for the simple minded who can’t comprehend the complexities of political science.  In the Old Testament, King Solomon is a hero. Two women come to him, each claiming a newborn baby is theirs. King Solomon took a sword and threatened to split the baby in two so as to equally award half of the child to each alleged mother. One of the women, intent on saving her child’s life, surrendered the baby to the other.  Thus, the real mother was revealed and King Solomon awarded the child to her.
We could use that ancient Solomonic wisdom in the Mideast right now!   The only people who give a damn about the plight of the Palestinian people are the international Left, while the supporters of Israel are American Imperialists, “End of Days” Evangelical Christians, and a handful of Conservative American Jews and Orthodox Jews.  Most Jews in the USA are Reformed Jews and Secular Jews.  American Jews consider themselves, simply, American and many marry outside of their religion.  American Secular Jews have no Jewish identity, which satisfies a lot politically conservative Jews.  This is a curious contradiction.
I always thought that Judeo morality was absolute.  How can you have one foot in Israel and another in America?  Is America the greatest country in the world, or is Israel?  Religious dogma dictates that you cannot serve two masters.  Can the Rabbis in a Yeshiva solve this dilemma?  Rabbis arguing about text in the Torah is how Polemics got started.
There is this notion that Jews are all monolithic and all the same.  The revisionist Zionists infer that they speak for the Jewish people.  They don’t!  They tell non-Jewish Right wingers that Anti-Zionism is the same as Anti-Antisemitism.  WRONG!!!!!  Take the case of the ultra Orthodox Jewish sect, Neturei - Karta.  They believe that the Jewish nation of Israel violates Jewish Law and Prophecy.  This sect is against Israel.  What do the rest of the Zionists think of this sect?  They don’t.  They simply ignore it. Are these Jews are self-hating?  Are they Uncle Jake's?  What is an Uncle Jake?  A Jewish version of an Uncle Tom.
Then there is the Jewish Left, and the secular Jewish Left. These secular Jews would never disclose that they are Jewish.  I knew a guy for years who never told me he was Jewish.  Then there are the Jewish Left groups like Hashomer Hatzair, or even the former political party in Israel, the Labor Party.  The Jewish Left in Israel has been suppressed.  They have been taken over by the Likud Party and a coalition of Jewish religious Right groups.  They are financed by Right wing Christians in the USA.  If you’d like to learn about the history of the Jewish Left, click here: The first Zionists were socialists > Sapardanis Kostas
The same problem exists with the Palestinians.  The first group that represented them was the The PLO – Palestinian Liberation Organization, who were Marxist revolutionaries.  Following them, the Islamic religious Right took over.  That was Hamas.  What kills me about Right wing propaganda is how they like to mislabel their enemies; ie: “Islamic Fascists are Leftists.” Holy shit turds!  Leftists? They are absolutely not!
So, what would be a Solomonic solution be to all this? The Palestinians should kick Hamas out and create a secular Leftist revolutionary group.  The Left wing Israelis should destroy the Jewish Right and have a peace treaty and planning conference with Palestinians.  Other then this, I agree with my Anarchist comrades: Have a “No State Solution.”  Fuck it, man!  As a Jew, I can say this shit.
Addendum: Today is May 17, 2021. Israel is bombing the Gaza Strip. It is said that the first casualty of war is the truth. I say the first fatalities of war are women and children.  What is happening in Israel now reminds me of the Vietnam War during the late 60’s and early 70’s.   Innocent women and children, along with elderly Vietnamese, were bombed by the American Air Force, while U.S. ground troops burned down their straw huts.  The women and children were always accused of being in cahoots with the Vietcong, the communist guerrillas of the jungle.
The same lie that I heard back then is now coming from the Right wing government of Israel.  They say that the Islamic guerrilla group, Hamas, is using innocent civilians for human shields.  So the Palestinian women and children have to be sacrificed in order to protect Israel? Excuse me?  Protect? What’s the matter—are Israel’s nuclear bombs at the bomb clinic undergoing repairs?  Maybe the Iron Dome is out of order?  Hamas versus nuclear Israel is, by no measure, a fair match.  When the Polish Jews rose up in World War II, they were in the same position, fighting the invading Nazi army in the Warsaw Ghetto.  Just like the Gaza Strip, no one could leave or enter the occupied city.  Of course, the Nazis called the Jewish resistance, “Terrorists.”
I think Benjamin Netanyahu should be charged with war crimes.  I also think that the Likud Party should be outlawed.  I don’t care if 71% of the Israeli voting population supports Donald Trump.  Shame on all you people! I realize that the Israeli Left is outnumbered, however, if you were true to your convictions, you would protest your government.  The mainstream media will not cover your protest, but social media will.
All my life, the subject of Israel would come and go. I remember the Six Day War in Israel, back in 1967.  At my junior high school, I saw a Jewish and a Black student debating. The Black Civil Rights movement was supporting the Palestinians at the time.  The Jewish kid wore a Yarmulke, so he was a target of hostilities towards Israel.
When I was 13 years old, I didn’t know better and I supported Israel.   I am older now, so—no dice!  Just because I am Jewish, it doesn’t mean that I am obligated to be a supporter, especially when the Israeli government is corrupt.  This war is morally wrong and should be stopped!
