Wait a minute... Undyne doesn’t believe Kris when they try to tell her about the Dark World and laughs in their face so hard that she breaks her desk. So they do something to lure the police over to their house by slashing the tires, then make a Dark World themself after learning from Queen that it might be possible for any Lightner to do so. And they did it before the police get there so that they’ll stumble into it.
I always found the gap of time between Toriel calling the police and her falling asleep before they get there odd as it’s a little town so it shouldn’t take that long, and it doesn’t seem as if they came before she fell asleep. Could be busy trying to recatch all those dogs. Maybe Kris is aware that Toriel falls asleep quickly while reading, they even opened the door so that the police could come in. One hole in this idea is, how would they know that Susie would pass out fast too? Might not have been part of the plan but an opportunity they took.
Not sure why they turned on the TV to static, possibly to give the new Dark World something to latch onto as regular living room furniture might not be enough. (Now that I’m thinking about it, all the items that have turned into characters so far are things that children and people touch and interact with using their imagination, like toys, computers, and TVs.)
Is this all to show Undyne and others that something dangerous is happening so they’ll be believed? I’m like, 90% sure that Kris is not The Knight and their intentions aren’t bad.

#Can i plug a usb hard drive into my linksys router for mac mac
I've tried the router and USB drive addys. I still couldnt access the files on the drive until I logged into the router, went to USB sharing, clicked on the icon to the right of the clock icon, then clicked on the share option. On the phone, using SMB or FTP with either fwd or back slashes one gives me a Google search listing - the other tells me I don't have permission to view "Butler14B150.N56N66OS". IrvSp I turned on SMB 1.0 and now the drive shows. I am NOT interested in sharing an internet connection via the router however, and would like to keep my wired ethernet connection as my primary. I've turned SMB and AFP on in Preferences on the Mac. Id like to use a USB-equipped wireless router to share the hard drive over a secure network-this will allow me to access the files without having to keep the drive plugged into my laptop 24/7. and now what? How can I use the Music app that came with the phone (or any other MP3 player) to access files on the USB?Īny addy I use in Safari (on the phone) I get an error msg and redirected back to the app. Many Linksys wireless router models come with at least one USB port you can use for attaching a USB drive, which you can then use as a. You will need to access the management utilities on the router to turn on its file sharing. It does show my WAN port is in use and my four LAN ports are unplugged. My stock firmware would lock up every few weeks, so I’m hoping this won’t or at least I can set it to reboot once a week like my router (E2000 with DD-WRT).
#Can i plug a usb hard drive into my linksys router for mac how to
I was planning on copying a bunch of music files to the USB drive, attaching it to the router. How to Map a Linksys Wireless Router Attached to a USB Drive. The most complex way is to use a network router that supports sharing of a USB-connected hard drive, such as Apples Airport Extreme Base Station or various Linksys routers. Worked perfectly with my E2500 V3 (Tomato Firmware MIPSR2-3.5-140 K26 USB Mega-VPN).
#Can i plug a usb hard drive into my linksys router for mac mac
My goal was to access music from my Mac via my iPhone. 8 hours ago &0183 &32 Click Apply Netgear Orbi Advanced AP 1 Connect the wired and wireless devices at the same time: You can connect the 4 devices through wired and another 4-5 devices wirelessly through 3 Orbi satellites communicate with the router, not with each other You cant use it to connect a USB hard drive or a USB printer that you 08. But I don't see any way to access the files with any phone app (Music, Pages, Adobe, etc - since there is no Finder per se). Using Finder, I can access the drive via my Mac - copy, paste, open files etc with the Linksys app on my iPhone I can see the router and that there is the usb drive. IMac, iPhone 6+, Linksys WRT1200AC router with a Seagate 1.0T USB drive. For Plex, should I use external hard drive plugged into pc, or router I have Plex installed on my computer and have it in my mobile, I want to use it with chromecast but am I better off leaving the external hard drive plugged into my computer usb3.0 or directly into my router usb2.

Announcing Emby Server 4.0
At long last we're pleased to announce Emby Server 4.0. This new release will begin rolling out over the next 24 hours, so please be patient. This has been our longest release period ever, and going forward we intend to get back to a more frequent release schedule. This release is packed with improved performance, updates to existing features, as well as several brand new features.   Important Upgrade Information After installing the update, the server will begin a database upgrade operation. If you attempt to open the web app during this time, you'll be given a friendly message informing you about this. This operation could take a little time, so please be patient with it.   After this is complete, any plugins you may have installed will require updates, so please check the status of this on your server dashboard. If any plugins are updated, remember that Emby Server will need to be restarted. After all updates have been applied, we recommend that you run a library scan. The first scan following the update could take longer than usual, so please be patient.   With that out of the way, let's go over the highlights of this release.   No Telemetry or Anonymous Usage Reporting   If you're wondering why the anonymous usage reporting setting has been removed, it's because not only have we removed the setting, but we've removed the function altogether. We know our audience pretty well thanks to this community, and because of that we've decided we no longed need any data reporting.   New Emby Live TV Guide Data   As previously announced, Live TV Guide Data is Now Included with Emby Premiere, if you're in the USA, Canada, or the UK. What does this mean? This means if you're in the USA, Canada or UK, you'll no longer need to setup an account with another website nor pay someone else for this data. You'll simply enter your zip code into Emby, select your channel lineup, and we'll handle retrieving your guide data.   We believe this will provide a better experience for Emby users with fewer setup steps. The new data is also quite a bit richer, and we will be looking at how we can take advantage of that to bring new Live TV features to Emby. Going forward, Live TV will require Emby Premiere in the web app, where previously this was not the case.   How to Migrate From Schedules Direct If you are setting up the server fresh, then you should use our new Emby guide provider, which will be the default. If you are already using Schedules Direct, then you can continue to use it through the remainder of your Schedules Direct subscription. Schedules Direct has pledged to continue to honor your subscriptions, and we thank them for that.   New Levels of Performance   A database re-structuring brings your Emby Server and apps to new levels of performance that were previously not possible. Screens will load faster, videos will start quicker, and more. This will also manifest itself in other areas, such as improved library scan performance, and faster live tv guide refreshes. Please Note: The first scan after the update may take quite a while depending on your library contents and exactly what features you have enabled. Please be patient as subsequent scans will be much faster.   New and Improved Hardware Acceleration   This has been rebuilt from the ground up and is better than ever. We now have sophisticated hardware detection that runs on server startup to determine what your system can support. This allows us to provide you with an "easy mode" setting:     And if you enable advanced control, you'll be able to see what was detected:     Our hardware transcoding has been rewritten to take better advantage of each of the major GPU platforms, whether it be QuickSync, Nvidia, DXVA, VAAPI, MediaCodec, or others. This will allow hardware transcoding performance to perform better than ever.   Best of all, you can now monitor this on the server dashboard. The green bar indicates the current playback position while the orange bar designates the range that has been transcoded so far.     Important: Hardware acceleration has been truly a major effort for us, and because of this, it will now require Emby Premiere on all platforms except for Nvidia Shield and Western Digital.   Transcoding Throttling is Back   This feature has returned after a two year hiatus and is better than ever. What is transcoding throttling? Sometimes your server can transcode content much quicker than you're actually watching it. When the transcoding process gets a big enough lead on your watching position, we can slow it down on the fly in order to reduce the load on your server. Then as you're watching, if we need to speed it back up, we can do that too.   And best of all, your server dashboard will show you when transcoding is being throttled:   Emby Server Now Available for Android and Nvidia Shield   Stay tuned for separate announcements.   Improved Search   Search is now faster and now supports fuzzy search! This means you don't need to type your searches perfectly in order to see the matches you're looking for. For example, if you accidentally enter "Bad Breaking", instead of "Breaking Bad", you'll still be able to see Breaking Bad in the results.   Multi-Resolution TV Shows   Without requiring any changes to your file names, we now support having multiple versions of episodes. This doesn't require any special setup and you'll now see the friendly version selection on the episode screen:     Revamped Grouping Into Collections   This has now been moved from a server setting to directly onto the Movies list screen where it can be easily toggled.     Expanded Filtering   You can now filter on more fields such as container, video codec, audio codec, subtitle codec, and more. This filters are also remembered !   Expanded User Library Access   User library access can now be controlled for sub-folders, providing you with even greater flexibility than before.   Other Improvements * Update to .NET Core 2.2 * Update to Sqlite 3.26.0 * Improve library scan performance * Improve performance of live tv guide refresh * Improve subtitle delivery performance * Support Brotli http compression * Display video size on detail screens in Media Info * Significantly reduce dlna related network traffic * Add More Like This On Live TV section * Add tabbed layouts for music videos and home videos * Add network browsing to directory picker for Linux, Android and MacOS. * Change new indicators for programs to match guide data * Rework mobile context menus * Rework tv tabs to be consistent with Emby Theater * Downloaded subtitles are now saved using the two-character language code * Improve transcoding of low bit rate hevc * Add Moviedb season image provider * Show favorite people * Support tvg-chno with m3u tuners * Support tvg-shift with m3u tuners * Allow a library to be named "backdrops", a previously reserved name * Improve server dashboard display with blue radiance theme * Improve mobile server dashboard with bottom navigation * Added live tv channels to search feature * Improve layout of live tv channels tab under live tv * Add audio books content type * Use es-MX with MovieDb when Spanish language is selected along with Mexico as the country * Improve metadata with absolute episode ordering * Cloud sync upload improvements * Support launching android server on device startup * Add container, video codec, audio codec, and subtitle codec filters * Improve multi-resolution naming recognition * Improve automatic refreshing in the web app * Improve resiliency with iptv streams * Improve Windows sleep prevention while server is being used * Improve Chromecast volume control * Improve xmltv parsing of European characters * Support multiple images with xmltv * Use transcode=none profile for HD Homerun when appropriate * Support splitting musicbrainz id's on both slashes and semi-colons * Make alpha pickers dynamic based on content * Improve identify feature * Improve manual refreshing when replacing existing images * Improve database cleanup procedures of removed content * Improve automatic refreshing of recordings * Restore user permission to change password and profile image * Prevent syncing of in-progress recordings * Improve authentication failure logging for Fail2ban support * Add API to find item by provider id * Update new user defaults to not allow deleting media * Make news notifications configurable * Reduce size of Windows and MacOS installers by 30 MB * Support user subtitle download permissions * Defer collage image generation until images are needed * Move AudioDb and Omdb to pre-installed plugins * Move fanart.tv to pre-installed plugin * Move MusicBrainz to pre-installed plugin * Move MovieDb metadata provider to pre-installed plugin * Move nfo saver to pre-installed plugin * Move tvdb to pre-installed plugin * Support per-library resume settings Bug Fixes * Fix issue of changing password in Firefox when Firefox password manager is used * Fix repeated Visual Studio C++ install prompts when VS2017 is already present * Fix favorite artists page showing empty list * Fix search by accent characters * Fix web access by ipv6 ip address * Fix More Like This for artists always showing same content * Fix xmltv programs not being marked as new when they are also a Premiere * Fix recording image file names for shows containing a period in the name * Workaround .net core crashes on network availability changes * Fix collection and playlist separation per library * Fix hardware transcoding options being reverted to defaults * Fix cloud sync upload throttle not being applied * Fix xmltv failures with SMB paths * Fix audio books getting immediately marked as watched * Fix intermittent crash associated with log file rotation * Fix windows task scheduler entries not getting cleaned up * Fix typo in Exynos spelling * Fix remote URL showing with remote access disabled * Various DLNA bug fixes http://dlvr.it/QwgNpv

Digital Marketing course for Undergraduates, Graduates and MBA students
Is Digital Marketing Essential for Undergraduates, Graduates and MBA students?
Marketing, as an MBA / BBA specialization, continues to be the most sought after PG degree for fresher and experienced candidates.  Seemingly, marketing & sales jobs pay 13%-45% more than other functions of the business. However, the evolution of digital marketing has funnelled the marketing talents available in the market. Candidates with good understanding of digital marketing and unified sales technologies are considered more positively driven and aspiring towards achieving personal and business goals.
“95% MBA colleges in India still don’t have a pure Digital Marketing curriculum. Even IIMs are yet to find their footing in the domain”
Some of MBA colleges already have a full-fledged curriculum for digital marketing. Sadly, there is not enough expertise in the field of digital marketing to train MBA / BBA, undergraduates and graduate students. There are major gaps in how digital marketing and related technologies are introduced in the marketing courses.
Why learning digital marketing tools & techniques while pursuing MBA is Important?
Digital marketing is exciting, conversational and business transforming activity. Those who love to be known as geeky and people-friendly, digital marketing landscape is the place to be. However, there are many more reasons why MBAs seek an entry into digital world.
·         Competitive market
There are only 13,000 digital marketers in India, who hold a formal degree in the vertical. According to an undisclosed source, Indian MNCs require 150,000 digital marketers to run their digital transformation processes.
. Average pay is above INR 400,000 CTC
Digital marketing is the most well-paid job sphere in India. The vertical has witnessed 55% rise in salaries since 2012, especially after the arrival of major MNCs and e-commerce companies like Amazon.com and Salesforce.com. The average salary of a digital marketer with fresher’s MBA in marketing specialization is above INR 400,000 per year in metro cities.
 ·Fast-paced career goals
In 2005, a digital marketer may not have been as clear in his/her career goals as today. Digital marketers are handling bigger teams with budgets running into millions of dollars. Top talents have an opportunity to become the Chief Digital Officer, Chief Information Officer and Chief Marketing Officers.
· New job opportunities
The government of India has taken positive steps towards digitalization, introducing innovative programs like e-governance, Digital India, Re-monetization and Start-Up India. All these programs require skilled digital marketers. Most industry experts no longer believe that digital marketing is the future of every business; rather, it’s very much the present.
Do you really need a Digital Marketing degree with an MBA?
To understand how deep digital marketing has penetrated into every realm of business, take a look at popular job search sites, including LinkedIn, Naukri, Monster and Times Jobs. Nearly 90% of the vacancies in the IT and Service sector are attributed to digital marketing, SEO marketing, social media reporting, analytics and big data management.
Start-ups and Small Business Enterprises (SMBs) are eyeing talented MBA / BBA graduates to run key business operations. However, dearth of quality digital marketing exponents proves to be an equally daunting challenge for companies.
Fate of traditional marketing jobs
Are you aware of how marketing automation works? Have you heard about latest technologies like marketing Clouds, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and communication, CRM and ERP automation and so on? If not, your chances of getting a pay rise in your present job just got slashed by 75%!
 The Way Forward
With cutting-edge technologies taking over most or all of digital marketing channels, it is crucial for undergraduates, graduates and MBA / BBA students to add the most latest knowledge of digital marketing in their ammunition. By 2020, marketing as a specialization is set to be an entirely digital ecosystem, inviting talented marketers to churn the most out of their skills and experience.
We at digital skills designed ready to adopt digital marketing course for MBA / BBA students. Please get in touch with Zoffr.in for yr bright future in digital marketing.

In contrast, outsourcing merchant companions work dressed in Of india offers a broader range of machinery decisions which will agree to an organization to reduce difficulty as a consequence heighten its competitiveness. The finally factor to think about becomes outsourcing THE IDEA reporting. Outsourcing tallying has a stable to discover a third-party seller with broad incident participating in producing third-party tally supports. FIR 115: How To UNLOCK The GROWTH Mindset SECRET
In this episode, we take a look at the secrets of the growth mindset. If YOU could adopt the techniques for changing your growth culture, would you do that?
Thank you for joining me here today. So recently, I was taking a look at a site that was talking about some of the pain points around SMBs. Right? What are some of the things that make it difficult for small to medium businesses? I've been so busy doing some AI work, and projects that I've not had a chance to podcast recently. So I've missed doing this. Alright, so let's let's take a look at this. I was interested in focusing on what are the things that hold back a small to medium business. And I look through what lots of organizations are saying certainly looked at what my own experience has been as well. I found one in particular, that was interesting. It's called WalkerSands.com interesting site, they focus on accelerating the growth of b2b brands. Anyway, in their on their blog, there was a gentleman who had written down a list of 100 pain points, and it caught my eye and I, I started to look through those and then I copied them down. And then I started to categorize them. And I noticed that well, there were some that focused on business process pains. There was cash flow pains and competitive pressure pains, eco system paints, which are a How do I deal with, you know, those that I'm partnering with?
Of course, there are pains around expenses, of course, financial pains, government pains, legal pains, marketing pains, and then there are some personal pains, right things that happens in our lives, then there are product pains, and finally, workplace pains. So I went through on each of the 100. And I started to categorize them as well, right, this one's business process, this one's workplace and culture, this one's product and marketing and so forth. And then I sat back and I counted them up. And what I came back with, first surprise me, and then I realized it was confirming because it reflected my experience with working with lots of companies. So here's here's the results. Now this is an order of repetition. In other words, this is the ones that had the most number of pain points. Alright, so this is out of 100.
So the top one was 30% of the pain points on his list, dealt with workplace slash culture slash mindset kind of issues. Right? All right, that was the one that was the most repetitive. Now I need to say that the weighting of all of these that I'm going to go through certainly not the same, right. So at any given point, you know, one pain point could become more detrimental than 10 others combined. So I didn't look at it from that perspective. In this particular grouping, I just said, hey, how many of these in this category are there? Alright, so here's the list. It's 30%. We're workplace culture mindset. And then the next most repetitive was marketing. So 15% were marketing, and then 12% were financial. And then it drops down into single digits area. So 5% for competitive pressure, another 5% were personal, another 5% of them, were business processes, and then down to ecosystem and product, both of those are 4%. And then going down a cash flow is 3%. So there's only three out of the 100 that talked about cash flow. I thought that was a little small, you know, my experience with small, you know, doing small business stuff is cash flow is obviously extremely critical, and an important one. So that's why I pointed out a you know, in terms of the numbers of these, it's not that, you know, they're all weighted the same. All right. So it's an interesting look, though, as I've looked around lots of companies and worked with tons of companies over the last 35 years, I've noticed two common themes regardless of industry. The one is culture. workplace mindset challenges.
You could be in the medical industry, healthcare, you could be in financial services or banking, you could be an aerospace or defense, wherever it's, this is a common thing, culture or workplace or mindset challenges, just our are always the common thread. And then number two, which is real closely related, is communication challenges, right? That's always a big a big issue. And sometimes that feeds into culture itself. But if I, you know, those are the common things that I see. So when I, when I looked at this guy's list, and I see that 30 of his 100 dealt with workplace culture mindset, I wasn't surprised that, you know, he, at least from his perspective, that that was a common set of problems. Last month, or maybe it's six weeks ago, when I did my previous podcast, I shared some findings from a Harvard Business Review report, which talked about the small company trap, and how to break that. Now, if you recall, there are two and I invite you to go back and listen to it. If you haven't heard that one. There are two key areas in investing. Well, let me back up, there are two key areas to break that trap. The first one is investing and and adopting technology. So in that bucket, I put things like you got to have control your data, you have to have, you know, good systems to help you. Obviously, I think AI is a key part of that. And of course, I make a pitch and appoint a case for that. Right. So the Harvard business folks said, that was one of the common themes that they saw of small companies, and big companies that both survived and flourished through through COVID, as well as in other times as well.
Okay, that was the first one. second one was marketing slash brand equity. All right. So when you look at this other guy's list that I was talking about earlier, on pain points, marketing was high on the list. Interestingly, there's a little bit on on technology that was in there in terms of pain points. Here's the thing I wanted to get to those. When you look at the list above, you know, marketing had the highest repetitive points, other than the culture piece, right. And it was central to Harvard's finding, my experience has been that when AI is properly applied, it helps close the gaps between the marketing needs and the pain points we have there. And where we need to go to right in order to accomplish the kinds of outcomes, the Harvard that Harvard was talking about in that report. Now, what I did was I pulled together a list here of some of the marketing pain points that this particular gentleman included. Right. And and I'll just, I'll just mention some of them. Number Number one here, that he'd mentioned was, we are not able to get new customers. All right. The other is nobody knows who we are. Or here's another pain point. I'm not getting any foot traffic, or or online traffic. The other is, let's see. This is a commodity business. How do we differentiate ourselves right? on something other than price, right? Hey, Mike, my take on that is you need a good offer. I know an offer guy. Here's another one. I have no clue why we just lost that big sale. All right. Here's another sales are down 30% from last year, why? and so forth, right? Now, those are all interesting marketing problems.
And I've had an opportunity recently to be doing some things with an organization where we've been applying AI, looking at these kinds of questions and discovering, hey, what was the behavior that drove growth or that caused, you know, customers not to repeat their business right over the last several years, an AI brings out some really interesting insights for these kinds of organizations. So I'd say hey, you know what, the Harvard folks are, right? You got to invest in these kinds of technologies so that you can compete, because the table stakes have changed in terms of what it means to compete effectively with our marketing and AI is a piece of that. So I reiterate AI properly applied, does help us close the gaps between where we are today and where we need to go. But I want to come back to the previous point about workplace culture and mindset, right, which is by far the most common recurring pain point across organizations. You can even have the best marketing the best technology but as Peter Drucker used to say, culture eats strategy for breakfast.
Remember that culture eats strategy for breakfast. So you might have a strategy of a I'm gonna do AI, and I'm gonna apply it into my marketing. But if I don't have a culture and a mindset that will adopt and accept and put into place those particular changes that are coming out of that, that's a waste of time, right? So how do you achieve a growth mindset in your business, it's not enough to do the marketing, that's obviously critical. It's not enough to do the AI. Although I would say that it's critical as well. It requires these two things. Number one, you do need to apply the marketing best practices and use an AI to help you do that is certainly key. But number two, most important, you got to have a growth mindset, it's a change in thought, on adopting and adapting the way we work, right, we have to address the culture part. So growing our businesses by just technological insights alone, in my experience, that's naive to consider. Now while we may have short term gains, doing that, it doesn't possess the power to sustain at least my experience.
So what means sustainable growth? While it typically requires this mindset, that's continuously evolving it continuously vulnerable, right, continually speed being asking for what do I need to do or improve next, it's where I want me to take on new insights, and then to accept the need to change and grow. But you got to do it in steps, right? That's, that's the key. If I get too much insight, or too big or things to change, then it's overwhelming. And I might as well just stop because the human brain sort of shuts down, right, and the culture won't accept it. So it needs to be given in doses into a series of steps become smart steps. Now, I've seen large companies apply culture change techniques. But if they're done in mass, like I said, it becomes overwhelming and soon against syndicates drop. So from my experience, the growth mindset secret is these two things, number one, got to apply AI insights to your marketing, your sells your internal operations, take advantage of those platforms that are available today.
And I can tell you about the platform that we provide, we build on the big guys to do the stuff. Alright, that's the first one. Number two, bundle those insights that you get with a culture hack to make minor, you know, but yet still measurable adjustments to the way you work in order to adopt those AI insights. If you do number one, without doing number two, my experience has been the organization doesn't sustain. If you don't have the mindset for growth, than this stuff really isn't for you. Now, you might go one or two times through it. Now we like I said, we call this a smart step. Smart step has those two components in it? So the growth mindset, what that really is, is it's a succession of multiple smart steps.
When you're doing smart steps, think of those two components: 1) applying AI insights to your marketing, your sales, your internal operations, and, 2) then to applying a hacker culture hack to your organization that allows you then to change the way you work to adopt those changes that will come to you from the A AI insights and then grow your business right. Doing this puts you on a path of sustainable incremental growth. Now, as you know, there are so many pain points that an SMB experiences, and I'll be the first to say this, what I'm talking about does not solve all of them.
But I have found what it does do is it focuses the people on digestible attainable steps, which shifts the culture and the profits one step at a time. All right, everybody. Thanks for joining and until next time, get into the growth mindset.

Looking for a beta reader (Harry Potter longfics)
Hey there! I'm not that bad a writer, but I think I could use some help in order to avoid stupid mistakes or just things that sound unnatural, so I'm looking for beta readers for the following longfics:
1) Gen, post-epilogue, Ron Weasley is the main character, the story involves timetravel. There is a lot of swearing, if this is important. It's not published yet, but I can share the first chapter in a message.
2) Mature (no graphic content), slash, Potter/Malfoy. Posthog, it is a slowburn about self acceptance with a detective story in the background. I'll share the link if smb's interested.
Thanks ☺️

Case Study: The future of remote working as engineered by the Covid-19 pandemic
Tumblr media
The pandemic has occasioned in a new work reality. Remote working before now used to be a pariah arrangement as managers favored the traditional setup of the corporate office. The pandemic and the inevitable need to space up office spaces have necessitated the increased adoption of remote working.
The emergence – or consolidation – of remote collaboration technologies ensure that teams can effectively collaborate as a distributed workforce without necessarily suffering a slash in their productivity.
Some believe that there would be a quick reversal to the conventional office setting once the pandemic clears up. However, studies are consolidating the workers' preference to do their jobs remotely, especially in the small to medium business (SMB) sector.
Intermedia carried out an insightful survey of 250 SMB owners and top CEOs whose companies boast from 5-250 employees. Of these businesses investigated in this survey, all them have had more than half of their teams take on jobs in the office.
Preceding the pandemic, the surveyed businesses had over 80% of their employees working in centralized roles stationed in the office. However, with the proliferation of the pandemic and the need to observe social distancing, this percentage has dramatically collapsed to 26% employees yet working from the office with the remaining chunk working remotely.
Let us examine some of the key findings from this survey and how they apply to the future of the general corporate space.
Employees are not eager to get back to the office any time soon
Of the surveyed SMB owners and decision-makers, 57% say they are open to keeping their employees working in remote conditions in the long term. The implication of this runs through radical changes in employee engagement, collaboration, and reportage.
Nonetheless, this appears vindicated by a corresponding climb in positive stats like employee life satisfaction, availability, and even output. Precisely, this study shows that life satisfaction since these companies resorted to remote working has been pumped up. Job satisfaction has gone up by 15%; employee availability has gone up by 19% while overall employee life satisfaction has also climbed up by 7%.
Some of these business owners admit that their employees have only been happier, and they have been more productive. This leap in satisfaction and output is not disconnected from the relief of being free from office-related stress like daily commuting, emotional pressure of sustainably being away from family. Notably, overhead costs for these employees have also significantly slumped.
This is further corroborated by findings from Flexjobs, who discovered that remote working employees are saving in the tune of $4k by working from home in an employee study.
When these cuts in cost are combined with hikes in employee engagement and productivity, it shows many companies may not be rushing their employees back to the office when the pandemic substantially subsides.
Businesses are favoring remote collaboration technologies, but in-person meetings remain crucial
On the immediate, there aren't yet formidable technologies to completely replace physical in-person meetings. Aside from the technology, cultural configurations of the corporate space mean that in-person live meeting (especially with customers) goes a long way in solidifying the credibility of businesses.
The Intermedia study reveals that over 90% of interviewed businesses agree that their capacity to carve out new business opportunities greatly relies on the physical projection of their brand, which is typified in the tangible presence of their brand or personnel. Here is where in-person meetings come in crucially.
However, much of the vacuum (in the face of the pandemic) is being filled with remote working technologies. Companies are rapidly transferring some of their less delicate in-person meetings to remote video conferencing.
Of these businesses interviewed in the Intermedia study, 57% of them favored video conferencing before the pandemic let its horror loose. More than 83% of the businesses are energetically leveraging video conferencing technologies in the heat of the pandemic. This makes an exciting increase of over 25%.
Within February 1 to March 18, Slack added 7,000 new customers as the pandemic boomed their viability. Unsurprisingly, Zoom Video Communications Inc, who wasn't a major player before the pandemic, has enjoyed aggressive bursts of growth. The American communications technology titan has enjoyed a voluminous 50% climb in its number of daily users.
Going by reports from Bloomberg, Zoom ballooned to 200 million users by April 1, 2020, from a previous 10 million 3 months ago. Furthermore, by April 21 this year, it was a catch-me-if-you-can speedy rise to 300 million users.
More businesses are promptly relocating most of their physical meeting using video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
According to Jossi Fresco Benaim, Chief Technology Officer, Brevity,
"Zoom is the video conferencing and collaboration solution our start-up had been looking for. It's also reliable, even internationally, and has the simplest installation process. Best of all, Zoom becomes transparent; it's never in the way, and no one has problems with it. It's just there, allowing us to collaborate, screen-share, and work together as a team without any hassles."
Remote working may have come to stay
Initially, many businesses recourse to remote working as a quick fix, but it appears it would morph into something more enduring. The flexibility remote working brings on for businesses has been fantastic for both employee and employer.
For employers, remote working, when aided with the right technologies, has enabled them to save tremendously without losing output. By leveraging remote working arrangements, companies have been able to save on logistics expenditures like travel reimbursement, office space, equipment, office edibles, and refreshments.
According to Global Workplace Analytics Telework Savings Calculator, a company can save as much as $11,000 for each employee by maximizing remote working. These savings, when diversified to market penetration or market share consolidation, can be game-changers. This is a beauty as you can diversify this cost into more delicate channels without adversely distorting your business structure.
A supportive 2020 study by Airtasker shows how companies enjoy more output from their remotely distributed workforce. The daily habits of 1,004 workers were investigated. It was discovered that when accountability technologies like (mouse movement and screen time trackers) were deployed, 56% of in-office employees were suffered distractions as opposed to only 39% in employees working from home.
Zillow, one of the biggest real estate listings platforms in the United States, is giving its employees the option of working from home from the remaining part of 2020.
According to Rich Barton, CEO of Zillow "my personal opinions about WFH have been turned upside down over the past 2 months. I expect this will have a lasting influence on the future of work … and home. Stay safe."
Indeed, all these don't stipulate the outright death of in-office collaboration. It shows that executive managers now have a bigger box of possibilities to explore when they structure their working environments. This flexibility allows companies to explore remote working engagements either full-time or periodically or with staggered in-office workforces.
