This just in: person learns that their experience isn’t universal. I really had never heard of “goth music” before, and now I have. Literally what reason do I have to lie, y’all are so funny. It was blowing my mind tho because y’all are acting like it’s SUCH a big deal and the basis of goth existence (sure, fine), and I had NEVER heard of it. And of the people that I asked, only my metalhead friend and father who listens to punk rock had actually heard of it. Everyone else just thought “punk music” meant like… 2000’s emo music. I think y’all are the ones who need to realize that you are “faking dumb.” Y’all all know that many people just think dark clothes and edgy makeup when someone says “goth.” I know that you know this because there are about 10 posts rn actively complaining about it! YOU are the one in denial, friend. Is it upsetting that the word has come to mean something different? Sure. But that’s language. Do you now have to ask people TWO (2!!) questions instead of one to correctly ascertain if they’re REALLY part of the goth community? Yeah. But it’s not really that hard or that big of a deal. Something just occurred to me, back during Gen8 speculation, when we hadn't seen Eternatus yet, but knew it existed, I was hoping that Leon would have been our main villain, that he would be a fraud that awakened it to fight for clout when he was exposed. (And still think it would have fit better with the sports theme than Rose's weird "energy crisis in a millennium" thing.) And even during early Gen7 speculation back before anything had been revealed about Alola, recall theorizing with a friend about potentially getting a villainous champion in SM.
Well, it's been hinted that Kieran will be the champion of the BB Academy League, and it's likely that he will be a potential threat in the next storyline due to his grudge against the player, I don't think beating him as the champion will fix anything between us. And while I don't think he'd do anything too extreme on his own, I still feel it's possible that he could be manipulated by an outside force, like be it Briar convincing him to help her awaken Terapagos, or if the possession theory is true.
They're killing two birds with one stone over a few things in the games I've wanted for years between the rival who potentially turns into an antagonist out of resentment towards us, and a villainous champion:
