『 Istrski poljub - Istrian kiss 』
Croatian and Slovenian Istrian girls kissing in an old coastal town
Tumblr media
The Croatian girl (left) is wearing folk clothes from southern Istria. The Slovenian girl (right) is wearing folk clothes from the Trieste region. The town I used as a reference was a photo I took in Piran a couple of months ago - I guess they met halfway between eachother!

Love feels so feminine but it doesn’t always have to be.
Why do we feel that being seen as feminine is weak? Why do we think that femininity is weakness? Women have so much rage in them from all the injustice of the past, women have so much love for all the creation, love creates. Love is so powerful. I am a woman the way god is. I am a woman the way love is. I am everything and everywhere.
I am so sick of being told that I can’t be complete without a man. I am complete, I was always complete and full. I am not a partner or a lover or a wife. I belong only to myself. I am not a label or a thought. I am a human being. I feel. I breathe. I am me. I am alive. That’s enough. I don’t need a man to teach me what I can love. I love even if the government doesn’t allow it. Nothing could stop me from loving. I’d rather die loved than lying.

I thought about slavic mythology. So, here are a sorceress and a slavic mermaid.
While drawing them, I imagined their backstory: how they lived around the lake, how they saw each other often, the unique connection they have had. They are impish and playful, so sometimes people around are worried, but not in a bad way.

concept art of wanda maximoff for slavic mythology au
i wanted to make a mix of slavic cultures but also obviously picked rroma as fundamental because wanda is originally romani and I didn’t want to lose this important part of her character

heeeeey I did this for my Master's project a year and a bit ago (oh God) and basically I've revamped all the text so it's actually legible! Yay! This'll be on my Ko-Fi in a couple of days, but in the meantime you all get little sneak peaks... Not chronologically, of course. It'll be available as a digital PDF. 'The Fire Dance' comrpises of 30 full colour pages. It follows the story of Inessa and Vasilissa, a couple from rural and urban Ukraine respectively. Inessa is a werewolf and open and proud about it, keen to take her girlfriend home for Kupala (Summer Solstice). But Vasilissa has a habit of not telling the whole truth, and it all catches up to her rather spectacularly...
