The Roberts Siblings

Over the years the family has undergone some changes so just to recap quickly!

First and foremost we have Barbie. As we all know, Barbie debuted in 1959. Barbie was introduced as a "teen fashion model" but in subsequent years has run for President so we have to assume she is at least 35.

Skipper is Barbie's oldest younger sister. Skipper was released in 1963 - 1964 as an elementary school student, though over subsequent releases she aged into a teenager. (see also my post about the Growing Up Skipper.)

Next up was the Bendable! Poseable! Terrifying! Tutti. This sinister little sister debuted in 1965 but was discontinued in 1971.

Then comes Stacie. Stacie was comparable in age to Skipper was at debut, though she didn't debut until 1992.

Kelly, who later changed her name to Chelsea, was next along. She was introduced officially in 1995, though had one random appearance in 1991. She changed her name in 2010. Depending on release she was anything from a toddler to about six or seven years old.

Krissy was the short-lived baby of the family - she was only in production for four years, from 1999 to 2003.

But here's the thing about the Roberts family.

What is the story with Todd?

Todd was Tutti's twin brother on release.

However after Tutti was discontinued for the crime of looking like the most haunted Barbie I've ever seen, Todd hung around.

But now he was paired with Kelly?

This is the mysterious Kelly debut in 1991, before she was officially released as a younger doll a few years later.

But what's this?

Todd and Stacie share a birthday now?

I demand answers, Mattel.

Hey, in your The Rogers Family AU, does Ken, Barbie’s boyfriend, get a Doo of his own? He has been dating Barbie for 43 years, according to Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse. He must have a Doo, or else they would have broken up by now. Also, why haven’t you mentioned Barbie’s sisters: Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea?

Yep, Ken does have a Doo. Hudson Doo.

Hudson and Ken met in one of the many Annual Rogers Meetings, the second one Ken went actually. Hudson is another case of "Non Great Dane Doo" like Taffy. He was adopted by Tiffany Doo when Skipper was 10 and Stacie was 1

Tiffany, as you may know, is bonded to Grandma Roberts, Joanne Roberts nee Rogers.

Most of the Doo's from the Roberts clan are all related, by blood or magical dog adoption, to Tiffany Doo, a Golden Retriever that was magically dog adopted by Penelope Doo, a Great Dane from the main Doo line once bonded to Matilda II Rogers, Shaggy's Great Grandmother and Joanne's Mother.

Later Joanne would marry Bernard Roberts (May he rest in peace) and had a son named George, who would later marry Margaret and have 4 daughters: Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea.

As per Barbie & Her Sisters in The Great Puppy Adventure the Doos each girl has is:

Barbie: Taffy Doo

Skipper: DJ Doo

Stacie: Rookie Doo

Chelsea: Honey Doo

I haven't mentioned the girls before because I'm still ironing out the Rogers Family!AU and was giving a bigger focus to the main line of the Rogers Clan. Since Barbie and her sisters are Shaggy's second cousins, my mind focused on Barbie as the one Shaggy would talk the most since they are closer in age.

Barbie lore time lol

So I've done the math of Barbie's many siblings (cause I'm bored)

And if some of these characters aren't the same person (Tutti, Kelly number 1 and Anastasia, aka Stacie)

And assuming that Kelly number 2 and Chelsea aren't the same person despite what Mattel says since their ages don't match up

Barbie would canonically be the eldest child of 9 kids

Including a possible set of quadruplets (Tutti, Todd, Kelly number 1, and Stacie since they're all supposed to be the same age)

I was looking through the wiki for Barbie and her family, and it starts with Barbie obviously, then Skipper, Tutti, Todd, Kelly number 1, Stacie, Kelly number 2, Chelsea and Krissy

But the younger siblings' ages also don't match up either of how old they're supposed to be vs. debut orders, as well as where they stand in the family tree

Tutti came after Skipper making her 3rd oldest, then her twin brother Todd but

Kelly number 1 came after Tutti and then came Stacie, who has also been called Todd's twin

Are Stacie and Tutti the same person and just look different as they got older? Is Tutti a nickname and Anastasia aka Stacie her real name? And what about Kelly number 1? Who came after Tutti but before Stacie?

Or did something happen to Tutti and Kelly number 1? Did Tutti get sent away to live else where since she looks like trouble? Was she the trouble maker of the family?

Again: What happened to Kelly 1?

Also, where does Todd stand? Is Todd in the middle if they actually are quadruplets and what number order of middle since he's listed as both Tutti and Stacie's twin brother? Or is it Tutti, Kelly 1, Stacie, then Todd?

Then there's Kelly number 2, the apparent 7th oldest, yet her age range is listed as 3 and in preschool while Chelsea is listed as 6 and in elementary school

Is Chelsea actually the 7th born child and Kelly 2 8th?

And if all these other siblings really are different from each other and not the same people going by different names or nicknames, where are they? Why do people only know of some of Barbie's siblings but not the rest

Do all of Barbie's best friends and Ken know about these siblings? Many have known Barbie for years but only ever see and hear about Skipper, Stacie, and Chelsea

Then again, these are also best friends who have never even heard of her siblings and vice-versa

Or is it because these 3 accompany Barbie the most throughout her adventures since apparently these 3 live with her and not their parents

When the heck did Barbie leave home? Why is she allowed to have custody of some of her siblings? Because of her many career moves? Also, isn't Barbie 19 since that's when she apparently stopped aging? Skipper is between 14 and 16 now, and I know Stacie is between the ages of 10 and 13 with about a 4 year age gap between her and Chelsea, who's 6

So modern age time wise: Barbie: 19, Skipper: 14 - 16, Tutti, Kelly 1, Todd and Stacie: 10 - 13, Chelsea: 6, Kelly 2: 3 and Krissy: 1

Meaning Barbie's parents were having kids about every 3 years

Many questions about the Robert's family

Maybe I'll do the extended family since they have some cousins and I wonder where they fit age wise

I have mentioned in the past some of the Disney themed Barbies that were not portrayed as characters from a movie, but as Barbie depicting a fan of the property.

The thing is though that there are surprisingly a lot of Barbies that are themed around... Barbie enjoying Disney. Way more than I mentioned in that post.

So: to summarize. Barbie is often dressed as characters from other media. I wanted to use the specific Snow White Barbie I had as a kid as an example, but there are so many different Snow White Barbies and non-Barbie fashion dolls that I couldn't find it. So instead, you get this one.

My Snow White had a knee length yellow skirt rather than a full ballroom skirt, and bobbed hair. She may not have been a Barbie, but I'm pretty sure she was. I can't find her anywhere.

But throughout the years, Barbie has had a variety of different outfits where she is not herself portraying a Disney character, but she is attending a Barbie park, or being depicted as a fan of a particular movie.

I really like this one because this depicts Barbie going to Walt Disney World as a park guest (and was, I believe, only available for purchase at Disney parks) but it shows here wearing a bottle of water around her neck on a lanyard. Theme park attendance rule one: STAY HYDRATED!

(Also this doll's hair is REALLY cute!)

It's not just Barbie getting in on the fun, either. This giftset from 1991 shows Skipper and Ken also dressing up in themed outfits. (Donald, Minnie and Mickey: the three genders.)

One of the most curiously specific is Barbie's little sister's friend Whitney and her best friend, a stuffed Piglet.

And she also has a cool prop: a working flashlight.

Mouseketeers Barbie from 2005 features a then and now, showing Barbie in a knee-length skirt to represent the past and a cute pair of pants to represent the present.

I think my personal favourite, though, has to be the Disney Fun Barbie iteration from 1996.

It's so busy. You cannot hope to escape that Barbie fucking loves Disney.

Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures is so underrated. There is barely any fics and mentions about the movies and series.

It’s mostly just about Karbie. Yes they are cute but with a lot of confession teasing. One of my otp. I am a total multi shipper for sure.

I just know there are some fruity characters here. Like Skipper is a bi icon and Joy is a lesbian icon. To their first meeting to when Joy said “I wish she was my babysitter” was cute and funny.
