Brooklyn facts from Barbie: Life in the City episode 11
Brooklyn loves New York during the holidays. She thinks it is "magical" and loves the window shop displays, the snow and the ice skating rinks (her favourite).
Granny Vi gave Brooklyn new ice skates. Brooklyn practiced her ice skating moves in her house (by sliding around wearing tights) because a snow storm was coming, so she couldn't go to a skate rink.
Brooklyn imagines skating in Norway, Canada, and China.
Brooklyn's favourite part of the holidays is spending time with her family.
Brooklyn's family has go-to roles to make things festive. Her mom Simone usually takes care of the tree.
Brooklyn thinks her mom Simone is the best pilot.
Brooklyn's dad Kelvin bakes during the holidays. Brooklyn saves some food for her mom Simone so she can eat a cookie before opening presents.
Whenever Brooklyn's Granny Vi is in town for the holidays, Vi gets to pick a holiday movie to watch but she can never choose.
Brooklyn's video diary started off as a class project but she feels like it became "really special" because she loved sharing New York with the viewers.

Brooklyn says her cat Etta is "adorable and vocal".

One of Brooklyn's favourite foods is jerk pork because her great-grandfather was from Jamaica, and cooking jerk pork is a family tradition.
Brooklyn has a dining room for family meals and Sunday dinners are a "must". They sit together, relax, catch up and play music. She thinks that may be where her love of music first started.
When Brooklyn began doing ballet, she would practice in her living room in front of the TV.
Brooklyn gets the most inspiration from being in her house, where she is safe to take risks and experiment with her art.
Brooklyn's family is supportive so she knows she can keep going even when she messes up.
Brooklyn considers Jayla and Jackson to be family.

Brooklyn considers bagels to be one of New York's most "iconic" foods and says it is a "classic go-to" breakfast because New Yorkers are always on the go.
Brooklyn's favourite chef in New York is her dad Kelvin. She says cooking with him is "the best" and the most important ingredient he uses is love. She also likes how he dances while cooking.
The day before this episode, Brooklyn and her dad went to a food truck festival in Queens. They tried lots of delicious food but her favourite was the New York style pizza from Primos Pies, so she wants to recreate it.
Brooklyn likes to dance while rolling out pizza dough.

In the previous episode, Brooklyn was a backup dancer for Emmie during a morning TV show performance. In this episode, Brooklyn says it went great and she didn't have stage fright.
Brooklyn thinks apple picking is one of the "coolest and yummiest" things to do with friends in the fall. She goes upstate to an apple orchard--one of her favourite places from her childhood--with Robyn and Lyla. Malibu lent them her camper for their road trip to the apple orchard.

Brooklyn got chosen by Emmie the popstar to be a backup dancer for Emmie's performance on the biggest morning show in the city, The Daily Bagel. Brooklyn warmed up for the show by practicising before getting the subway.
It has been Brooklyn's dream to perform for a live TV audience. She makes her morning show debut as Emmie's backup dancer.
Brooklyn was nervous about messing up on live TV.
Emmie chose Brooklyn because she thinks Brooklyn is an "amazing dancer" with "so much heart".
Brooklyn's parents Simone and Kelvin and her grandmother Viola watched in the audience when Brooklyn performed with Emmie.

Brooklyn thinks New York is the greatest city in the world.
Brooklyn was born in Brooklyn, New York, which is the inspiration for her nickname.
Brooklyn made Barbie: Life in the City, a digital diary, for her media arts class at Handler Arts Academy. The diary is about the things Brooklyn loves most about New York and how they inspire her.
Brooklyn loves the sounds, movement and energy of New York subway trains. She feels happy when she is on the subway.
Brooklyn feels happy when she sees cute babies.
Brooklyn loves the dance studio at Handler because going there helps her to center herself and dance.
The thing Brooklyn loves most is dance. Her parents say she has been dancing since the day she could walk. When Brooklyn was 3, her mom Simone enrolled her in a dance program in Harlem. That is where Brooklyn first learned classical ballet. Brooklyn called it "heaven". She then spent years learning all kinds of different dance styles, but she describes ballet as her "first love."
Brooklyn's "second love" is cheesy pizzas and knows how to find hidden pizza spots with less crowds.
When Brooklyn was in middle school, she co-starred in a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet in a small theater. It wasn't perfect but it gave her confidence to keep trying.
One of the things Brooklyn thinks is great about New York is that she always discovers new things.
Brooklyn said the best thing about New York is her family.
Brooklyn's motto is YAL, which stands for You Are Loved. She believes that even though there is pressure to be the best or perfect, perfection isn't real and she believes everyone is amazing, should be kind to themselves, love themselves and love others.
