An Illicit Affair
Part 18: ALMOST CAUGHT
Pairing: Cillian Murphy (46) x Reader (23)
Warning: Age-Gap, Taboo Relationship, Infidelity
Tumblr media
"Fuck, what am I going to do?" you asked as you hurriedly fastened your bra before reaching for your jeans. "Hide in the closet?" you sighed, panic rising in your chest.
"Bad idea," Cillian said, his voice low and urgent. "Max isn't going to leave quickly, so you would be there for a while," he pointed out, his eyes darting nervously.
"So what do we do?" you asked desperately,, throwing on your t-shirt just as Max knocked on the door again.
"I'll tell him that you came here to check on me, because of the cut," Cillian decided, stepping toward the door. "Let's play it cool," he said, straightening up his hair.
"Uh-huh," you agreed nervously, feeling a knot forming in your stomach as Cillian opened the door and you followed behind him.
"Hey, Max," he greeted casually, maintaining a steady gaze before giving his son a hug.
"Hey, Dad," Max responded, his brow furrowing curiously. "How are you feeling?" he asked suspiciously, narrowing his eyes when he spotted you standing in the living-room.
Your face was flushed and you bit your lower lip nervously, trying to appear casual under his scrutinizing gaze.
"Hey, Max," you tried to greet him casually, forcing a smile as you saw him take notice of you.
"Y/N?" Max said with surprise. "Why are you here?" he asked, his eyes darting between you and his dad. "Is everything okay?" he questioned, concern etching his features.
"Yeah, yeah, everything's fine," Cillian assured him nonchalantly, casting a sideways glance at you. "I just needed someone to redo the dressing and it's bloody awkward stepping into the ER with all that is going on, so I called Y/N to see if anyone was on call at the nearby medical centers and Y/N kindly offered to come here and do it for me," he explained, gesturing at his bandaged head.
"I stupidly spilled some stuff on the other bandage," Cillian then lied, explaining himself a little more than he had to, but since he was such a good actor, his son Max may have bought it nonetheless.
"That's right," you simply stammered nervously, trying to brush the tension aside with your fake laughter.
"I see," Max said skeptically, studying your faces intently. "Okay, then," he said dismissively, turning his back and heading towards the kitchen.
"Want something to drink?" he asked politely, peering at you over his shoulder. "You should stay for dinner, because I brought enough food for three," Max then suggested generously after a few seconds.
"Thanks, I appreciate it, but I really should go back home. I have to be at work early tomorrow," you told Max before collecting your bag and cardigan from the kitchen counter.
"Thanks again for coming Y/N," Cillian added, flashing you a grateful smile.
"No problem," you assured them, waving goodbye as you stepped into the apartment building's hallway. "See you guys soon," you then promised, turning around to shut the door behind you.
As you walked home, the wind rustled through the trees overhead, creating a comforting melody, but you found yourself lost in thought. This encounter had left you shaken, and the reality of it all was starting to sink in. What had begun as innocent flirtation had quickly morphed into something far more complicated. You were in love with a man who was not only married and twice your age, but also your ex's father.
Yet the attraction between you and Cillian was magnetic, and you knew you were hooked. It was a dangerous game you'd chosen to play, but you were willing to risk it all to experience this exhilarating love.
Back at your apartment, you lay awake in bed, replaying the events of the evening in your mind. Max's unexpected arrival had thrown you both into a panic, adding a new layer of complexity to your relationship. You wondered whether he had sensed the chemistry between you and Cillian. Had he seen the spark in your eyes for his father?
Had he noticed the nervous energy that crackled between you? Or perhaps it was nothing more than a fleeting intuition born out of uncertainty—a mere gut feeling. Whatever the case, the question loomed in your mind, haunting you as you lay awake, tossing and turning.
Meanwhile, at Cillian's apartment, Max and his father shared some late night food while talking about the events which transpired the evening before.
"You and mum really need therapy, dad," Max stated bluntly, staring at his plate rather than his father.
"Maybe," Cillian mumbled absentmindedly, distracted by the memory of you wrapped in his arms earlier.
"Or maybe she needs to get checked out by a professional," Max continued thoughtfully, peering at his now empty plate.
"Could be," Cillian agreed, pushing his plate away and getting up from the table.
"Okay, then please help her for god's sake," Max told his father. He rolled his eyes, seeing how detached his father was acting lately when it came to his marriage. "I mean, is it true though? Because, if it is, then you need to stop it dad. Just stop it," Max said suddenly, raising his gaze to meet his father's with desperation.
"Is what true?" Cillian asked cautiously, a frown marring his brow. The atmosphere in the room thickened, heavy with unspoken words.
"The whole thing about you cheating on her," Max revealed, his voice cracking slightly. "I mean, does it hold any truth?" he asked warily, watching his father closely.
"No, it's absurd," Cillian dismissed swiftly, shooting Max a sharp glance. "But even if it was true, this is between your mum and I and has nothing to do with you. We are your parents nonetheless and love you very much. We always will," he asserted firmly, wishing he could brush off the guilt that seeped into his conscience.
"That might be true, but it is affecting me too, you know," Max argued defensively, feeling torn between loyalty to his mother and his concerns for his father.
"How exactly?" Cillian pressed, keen to understand his son's perspective.
"She keeps bringing it up," Max explained, swallowing hard. "And to be honest, you seem rather strange lately," he admitted, peering directly at his father. "So, I don't blame her for suspecting things," Max confessed quietly, lifting his gaze to lock eyes with Cillian. "It seems odd that she wouldn't bring it up if it wasn't real, you know," Max voiced aloud, feeling uneasy about the situation.
Cillian hesitated, unsure how to respond. "Well, I assure you, there's nothing to worry about," he reassured Max, his eyes darting nervously.
"You are unhappy, and mum is unhappy too," Max pointed out, watching his father carefully. "So, just go to therapy with her, and fix it," he then told his father who knew where this was going. "I am just sick of you guys arguing and her being like this all the time," Max then declared, running his hand through his dark hair and shaking his head.
"Seriously," he emphasized, "I am tired of it," he confessed, his voice softening.
Cillian sat silently, contemplating his son's words. He couldn't deny that his marriage was troubled, and it weighed heavily on his shoulders. "Look, I promise to do my best to improve our situation," he assured Max, hoping to alleviate his fears. "And we'll try to figure things out," he added, extending his hand to offer comfort. "But, there comes a point where, what is broken, cannot be fixed and you might need to accept this," he admitted, his voice quivering slightly.
"What makes you say that?" Max asked, his voice wavering with emotion.
"Well, Max, sometimes, people drift apart and lose touch with each other; the connection disappears," Cillian replied. "We've been having problems for quite some time now," he confessed, averting his gaze. "But, like I said, this shouldn't affect you and I am sorry if it has," he apologized sincerely, squeezing Max's shoulder affectionately just before Max excused himself to visit the bathroom.
The situation had become too confronting for him and Max needed to retreat for a moment to gather his thoughts.
When Max walked down the shallow hallway however, he noticed something strange.
There was a faint smell lingering in the air, coming from his father's bedroom, the door of which stood open slightly. It was a smell that reminded him of you, your perfume mixed with a trace of the distinct scent of your exertion during sex .
Not thinking much about it however, he pushed the thought from his mind and headed to the bathroom, sighing deeply as he closed the door behind him.
There was something odd about the way his father had been acting lately, but he couldn't place his finger on it. He just hoped that whatever was going on, it had nothing to do with his mother whom he knew was struggling of late.
To be continued...

barbatos headcanons sfw or nsfw? totally fine if not <3 i love anything you write for barbatos <3
Ohhhh man, so many headcanons considering how much space he takes up in my brain. Most of it centers around relationships and, by proxy, NSFW stuff. It ties into what I recall of canon material, but take it with a grain of salt since I haven't finished the OG game yet (I'm on lesson 42 right now). I'm just going to put SOME of them since I have so many. Also, some of these will probably sound more like character analysis than headcanons.
WARNING: MINORS AND AGELSS BLOGS DNI; THIS POST CONTAINS 18+ CONTENT. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT FOLLOW ME!
My Humble Barbatos Thoughts:
General stuff (SFW):
He smells like warm bread and spices due to all the baking/cooking he does and the tea he grows and brews.
When Asmo painted his and Diavolo's nails to match the brothers (per Diavolo's request), Barbatos let Diavolo choose his nail color for him.
His biggest worry is the mistakes of his past coming back to haunt him by inadvertently impacting Diavolo's reputation by association. If Barbatos's past sins became public knowledge, he would worry about how the Devildom might view him and how that would impact Diavolo.
Because of how incredibly old he is, and the way he seemed to come into Sol's life when he was a teenager (if I recall correctly?), and came into Diavolo's life when he was also young, I see his relationships with them as almost parental/guardian (at least initially).
Which means he probably doesn't really have any truly balanced/equal relationships with those around him, which can cause him to be somewhat isolated. He's there for others, but he's not very willing to let others reciprocate. He believes he needs to handle all of his troubles/worries on his own.
I can see his dynamic with Diavolo evolving into a more equal/balanced friendship over time, the parental/guardian dynamic falling away as he let's go of his protective role. I think this has already happened with Sol, since they seem more friends/equals than father/son (e.g., he allows Sol to have power over him not just in pact, but also with his grimoire); Diavolo is harder because Barbatos still sees the young prince as his responsibility (plus Dia is always trying to sneak out like a teenager 😂).
Barbatos has a LOT of talents and interests; he may be very proper and well-mannered, but he's been around for a LONG time. Canon things we've learned about him so far: he likes heavy metal music, he likes classical music, he is great at ice skating, fangol, and chess; he kills it at cross-dressing and dancing... he's a very diverse individual which tells me he did and tried probably literally everything when he was younger.
He's 10/10 middle-aged adult energy now. He's done everything, experimented with all the things, and now he just wants stability. He's still got some spunk to him and will engage in fun activities (especially for the sake of others), but if he had his way, I think he'd want to relax with his tea, his gardens, and his walks under the stars.
Relationship/Intimacy (including NSFW):
He had plenty of lovers earlier on in his life, but he didn't exactly have a lot of emotional intimacy. He's always been the oldest demon, and when he was younger, that simple fact made him arrogant and he saw himself as always being above others. It drove an invisible wedge between himself and those around him.
He's a greed demon, so I imagine that in the beginning he was more emotionally charged and selfishly motivated.
He has literally tried every kink under the sun moon. Young Barbatos was kinkier, hornier, meaner (due to his arrogance), and likely was not a very healthy individual to engage in relations with. Probably had lots of red flags. Was very free-spirited (our boy was hopping timelines will-nilly);
Young Barb had fuckboi energy, but in a quiet, intelligent sort of way (if that makes sense). He was hard to resist, yet very much untouchable.
As time passed, he mellowed out but also became more reserved. This made emotional intimacy even harder, and sexual escapades grew boring after a while.
Young Barbatos certainly got around, but he only truly fell in love once. But he had to leave that person behind when he made the decision to go back and fix his mistakes. He still thinks about them to this day.
In the past, when he saw the consequences of his recklessness and how it had impacted those he cared about (Dia, Sol) he had a change of heart and devoted himself to fixing his mistakes and to be in service of others before himself.
It may seem endearing and like excellent character growth; which it is, to a point. But it's also reactionary to the harm he caused. Barbatos sees his passions and desires as something toxic, something negative. As such, he sees them as being something that needs to be bottled up and controlled at all times.
Which makes it so much harder to fall in love, and when he does fall in love, it will scare him, because he feels that pull of selfishness, of wanting purely for the sake of wanting it. He has yet to figure out how to find balance within himself (i.e., trust himself), to allow himself to want without letting it consume him, and to give without self-deprivation.
Monogamous or poly? I could see it going either way, although I see him leaning more towards monogamous. It's the greed and also how he isolates himself; letting in one person would be hard, letting in more than one, especially to the same extent, would be nearly impossible. He's a VERY private person.
But poly can also work as long as its established that the relationship is exclusive between him and his partners (no open relationships/flings with outsiders). Poly might also be nice for him in that he can take comfort in knowing that his partners are there for each other when his work keeps him away from them (i.e., he'd hate for his monogamous partner to be alone all the time).
Either way, mono or poly, Barbatos does not like to share. It's the greed in him. They're his, and no one else's.
Barbatos would be very VERY resistant to entering a relationship in the present time mainly because he's dedicated himself to Diavolo. He knows his partner would not be able to be his top priority no matter how much he loves them, and not many people would be okay with that.
Barbatos used to be very sexually promiscuous in his younger years, but now he's completely closed off simply because has a reputation to protect for Diavolo. He doesn't want any jilted lovers/ex-lovers to try to cause trouble for the Prince of the Devildom simply to get back at Barbatos. Also, the man has no time for shenanigans.
If someone does manage to worm their way into his heart, it would be very slowly, over many years without him noticing until he suddenly realizes one day that he'd be lost without them. It'd be jarring for him, to say the least.
Barbatos is canonically VERY romantic. He's a giver, and his love language is acts of service. That includes not only errands/duties/chores/meals/dates, but also physical acts of service (massages, orgasms, etc.).
Loves LOVES to give oral. He loves making his lover(s) putty in his hands (think service dom).
Lots of kissing. So so much kissing. He's gonna worship every inch with his mouth and tongue.
Definitely does have a kinky side, but it only comes out to play with someone he really REALLY trusts.
He'd be down for nearly everything. Bondage, anal, edging, etc. He can even be a mean dom if you ask him really nicely (he needs to believe you REALLY want it before he lets that old side of himself come out to play); however, the only things I can see him having a hard no on would be anything in a public space where there's a chance of being seen/caught (remember he's worried about reputation) and hard degradation via name-calling (sorry, I just can't picture it - he'd respect his partner too much regardless of whatever nasty kinky stuff they do together).
Will most definitely use his tail on himself and his partner(s).
If his lover is human, he'd be constantly keeping himself (and his strength) in check out of fear of hurting them.
He'd be big on consent. He's a master at reading body language; the slightest hint of distress and he's stopping everything immediately. He's not one to lose himself in the moment.
However, this doesn't mean he doesn't have the capacity to be passionate; it's just that his passion can be a bit strong, so he's always worried about overwhelming his partner. But if his partner can handle it, then it'd open up an entirely different side of him.
Despite his capacity for kinky shenanigans, Barbatos's favorite type of intimacy with his partner will be more vanilla and filled with lots of love and affection. So think lazy oral on the bed or couch in the privacy of his room, missionary so he can see your face and feel your legs wrap around him, and you in his lap so he can let you have control and wrap his arms tight around you.
Barbatos is the KING OF AFTERCARE. Baths, tea, cakes, warm blankets, firelight, soft touches, gentle massages, kisses to your cheeks, your temples... and very heartfelt verbal confessions of his love for you.
Will snuggle you tightly after all is said and done.
Loves watching you sleep while he holds you in his arms.
He'd never say it out loud because he doesn't want to burden you, but getting up early each morning and leaving your warmth is the most painful, torturous thing for him.

Why GoWR Valhalla Is Important
Hey. It's me again. This time I'm not yelling about Kingdom Hearts or Drakengard, but I wanted to talk about God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla today and why I think it's important in trauma-centered narratives. This isn't a detailed analysis, just me spitballing.
SPOILER WARNING: There will be spoilers for God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla, so please proceed with caution!
EDITED: 2/26/24
As a brief summary, Kratos spent almost the entirety of GoW 2018 refusing to talk about his past. His guilt, shame, and trauma deeply affected his relationship with his son, to the point where he didn't want to be around Atreus bc he was terrified of being a bad influence on him. It was only when Atreus' life was in danger did it force him to finally admit just a sliver of the truth. Now I don't mean to say that Kratos revealing his godhood wasn't a big deal because it absolutely was, I'm just saying that it's just one piece of a MUCH bigger story. Anyway, he recognized his past mistakes, but the shame was too much for him to openly acknowledge it until damn near the end of the game.
Come Ragnarök, Kratos was pretty much an open book. He had grown SO much in those short years of fimbulwinter: He openly talked about his trauma to Mimir and Freya. He worked so hard to be a good father and a good support system to his friends. He went out of his way to make amends with Freya and restore their friendship. And he fought to restore peace to the Nine Realms.
But come Valhalla, Freya wants to recruit Kratos to be the new God of War of the nine realms, or at least to be a part of the new peacekeeping council that she's putting together. Kratos is extremely hesitant to take up the mantle. He doesn't feel worthy or deserving enough to hold this position given all that he's done. He and Mimir (and later on, Tyr) are constantly going back and forth about it. Both perspectives are completely valid. Valhalla is about Kratos facing his past in a more literal sense; parts of Greece have been manifested from Kratos' memories of it, so it's like he gets to be there in real time again. This is about helping him process what happened and to add some nuance to the conversation. It's like free therapy for Kratos.
It's funny too bc you have both opposing viewpoints being represented. On one hand, you have Mimir and Tyr being the supporting/validating voice, and Helios is the contrarian. Since he's a manifestation of Kratos' memories, he represents the doubts that Kratos has about himself. The harsh voice to show how hard he is on himself, and not without good reason.
The reason why I think Valhalla is so important is bc in media, survivor narratives are often linear. The character just "gets over" their trauma and then that trauma isn't addressed again. It's presented more as a hurdle than a lifelong battle. I guess this goes to show how misunderstood survivorhood is. But that isn't how healing works. We regress sometimes, and sometimes we still mull over the things that have happened to us. We might heal, but that trauma does leave emotional scars. So even after the many leaps and bounds Kratos has made, he's not "over" his past, far from it! It still haunts him every day and every night. Valhalla is Kratos still processing everything. From my own healing journey, I've learned that it takes a long, long time to fully process your trauma, if there even is a "fully", anyway. It takes a long time to learn and understand all the complexities and how it affects you in current day. And it takes even longer to process such a complicated history like Kratos'.
Generally speaking about the idea of processing trauma, I said earlier that survivorhood is extremely misunderstood by the masses. Imo, our society is very anti-victim/anti-survivor. So with that in mind, from the perspective of the audience, some might perceive the processing trauma bit as repetitive or "milking it". These are mediums of entertainment after all, so ofc I understand wanting to put out an engaging story where the audience doesn't lose interest. But screw those ppl lol. We have to understand why we do what we do if we want to do better, and it's amazing that a video game is willing to have these conversations. Being more open about all the nuances of processing trauma, grief, healing, etc will go such a long way.
Even the roguelite gameplay style perfectly reflects this theme. Processing this stuff is slow. It doesn't happen overnight. Unless you're in Valhalla, I suppose.
Okay I said this wasn't a detailed analysis but I lied. I'm a liar now

List 5 facts about a favorite sim of yours, and send this to simblrs whose sims you adore 💜
Thank you for the ask :) I always get sooo excited when I get an opportunity to answer one of these!
Since next COTF update is a bit Noa centered plus I've been playing with him in game the past couple days (and he's my little bb) I'll blabber about my favorite ex-pirate. 🤭💖
Noa was born in Selvadorada - there's a lot Noa doesn't know about his past. The little he does know are the very blurry early memories he had before he was taken in by pirates as a toddler and the little bits of information he was able to scrape up over time from his crewmates or the Freudian slip from his caretaker/Captain, Knox during one of his passionate drunken rants. He had no idea his mother was a witch until he after he had Adie and we actually learn in the coming update how he finds out about his Aunt Nora (via flashback). His way of connecting with his birth home is by embracing Selvadoradian culture by opening his failing restaurant, A Taste of Selvadorada.
Tumblr media
Noa was raised by pirates - After the death of his mother when he was a toddler, Noa was taken in by pirates. Before he met Orion and the Briars, the pirates was the only family he ever knew. His captain, Captain Knox, was the closest thing he had to a father even if they had a rough relationship where it often felt like Knox resented Noa. He also considered Knox's son, Roman, as his brother; their relationship wasn't all that great either, especially as they got older. He grew up around liars and thieves and for his whole life that's what he had to become in order to survive. Even though Noa is no longer a pirate, he still has the instincts of one and is constantly having to shake away old habits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Noa is still besties with Orion's ex - When Orion was 14/15, she dated the Sulani Chief's son, Sione. Sione is a really nice guy but he and Orion just wasn't a match plus her heart was destined for Noa whether she knew it or not so their breakup was inevitable. Noa and Sione both share a trauma of losing someone close to them which is how they ended up being friends. Years have past and they still talk often and consider each other soul brothers (and yes, Orion was a little annoyed at first but she's used to it lol )
Tumblr media
Noa was named after his Aunt Nora - (did anyone figure this out yet? 🥹 ) Nora is not impressed nor pleased by this fact. Quite frankly, she doesn't particularly care for Noa at all. It's complicated...which leads to Fact 5:
Noa doesn't trust Nora - we get into the why next update but Noa can always tell when someone's lying to him or if he needs to keep his guard up. It's a trait you pick up when you're a pirate, it's how you survive. And all the bells are ringing when it comes to Nora.

I realized I enjoy playing this game like an adult dollhouse
Anyway, my current Sims game centers on a teenager. She was named Melissa after the Allman Brothers song. Her mother works as a clerk at Sally Beauty Supply and her father is a Hell’s Angel. They’ve lived in a single side trailer in Oasis Springs her entire life. She didn’t have her own bedroom growing up but she saved enough money to rent one of those Lowe’s sheds and renovate it, finally giving her privacy and her own space.
She isn’t close to her parents. Her mother’s only joy in life is destroying marriages, everyone’s marriage except her own. Her father is a terrible insufferable man who was only put into this simulation world to raise hell. She often felt like the responsible party in her household. The one who had to fix the shower when it was broken because nobody else would, the one to bake herself a cake on her birthday. Her childhood dog, Roxie, is her closest family member and even that has its downsides because Roxie has a habit of randomly attacking people.
Melissa spends as much time away from her house as she can. She joined the cheer squad freshman year. She stays late at school every day, practicing her cheer routine alone at the football field, practicing her painting in the art room, teaching herself piano in the music room until the early hours of the morning. On the weekend she goes for long walks, usually rockhounding in hopes of finding valuable things to sell to pay her way through college, sometimes painting by the sea or just sitting under the stars with Roxie.
Melissa isn’t alone in the world, not really. She has so many friends. Her classmates love her. She’s had a steady girlfriend since freshman year, a spellcaster named Tilly. She loves her. They like each other but sometimes she feels like they don’t know each other. Melissa doesn’t tell her about her parents, about the backyard shed thing, about the nights she wanders around the forest. But she knows she likes Tilly, knows Tilly is good and that she could trust her if she could only make herself open up. She wants their relationship to work but things get in the way.
At a party Melissa met Logan, a very stupid very blond werewolf who goes to another school. They stargazed together and she developed a massive crush on him. He’s an artist, just like her. He has a strained home life, just like her. He never knew his father and his stepdad died when he was 15, leaving his mother alone to raise two sons in the sad dying little town of Moonwood Mill. He’s not like her at all, not like Tilly is like her. She wants to graduate early with Tilly, move out and go to university together, make a happy life. He’s a goofball and a terrible student. But his stupid eyeliner worked on her. She loves Tilly but she likes Logan.
She’s hoping to graduate soon, leave Logan and her parents behind. Her last ambition is to throw a party of her own, a real gold star kegger. She can’t host it at her house, it’s too small and her parents are always home. She found an abandoned cabin on one of her many walks and she’s fixing it up in hopes of throwing a real rager. She knows it isn’t her house but it’s nice to have a big quiet place of her own. She spends more and more time there, not just building a perfect party spot but an illustration of what she wants her life to be like.

Another Altami Farm AU after long time! 🥰
Tumblr media
Altaïr revealed to Tami the story of the tragic car accident in which he lost his left ring finger and father.
And now here are some townies!
Tumblr media
Cyril and Rozália Fountain - Tami's parents and the original owners of the farm. Their goods were the best in the town, but in recent years they sold less and less until they got to the point where they decided to work in the city. Since their daughter does not want to live in a big city, they decided that she will take care of the farm while they will work. They come to see her on weekends and holidays.
Malik and Kadar Al-Sayf - Altaïr's roommates. Malik lost his left arm in the same car crash that Altaïr and his father were in. He's a college student, studying engineering. His younger brother Kadar goes to high school and will soon graduate. They are good friends with Tami.
Tumblr media
Abbas Sofian - Once Altaïr's best friend and now his greatest rival. Abbas constantly wants to show that he is the best at everything and tries to compete with Altaïr. He doesn't have a good relationship with Tami, as she befriends (later dates) his rival.
Bayek Nassar (since Bayek doesn't have any last name, so I gave him one 🙂) - The mayor of the town passed away and Bayek became a candidate for the new mayor. He supports people and domestic companies for a better tomorrow. He lives with his wife Aya and son Khemu in the center of the town.
Robert de Sablé - The second candidate for mayor and Bayek's competitor. Unlike his opponent, Robert is more interested in power and building factories for Abstergo Industries. He manipulates voters by promising them a better future and low taxes, but not everyone buys into his words. He plans to tear down the farm, which Tami and Bayek are against.
Maria Thorpe - Robert's assistant, whom he took under his wing after her parents kicked her out of the house due to her rebellious nature. She works for Abstergo believing they will help the other townies, but later realizes her boss' true intentions. At first Tami didn't like her, but as they got to know each other better and had so much in common, they eventually became friends.

Has ever happened a situation where Luca went to Kevin for sex/live/hockey/relationship/marriage advice ? And what the situation might have cause the ask ?
- 🇧🇷
Dad Kev? What a gift!!!
Luca Fiala has a decision to make that feels impossible.
24 hours before this, his college hockey team lost in the National Championship game to Denver. His chest still feels like it’s burning from the acid of that final, OT winner going into the net. He doesn’t think he will forget this pain for the rest of his life. People may say it’s just a game, but this game has been his entire life since he first put skates on at the Xcel Energy Center with his father. It’s cruel punishment that his collegiate career could have ended on that same ice.
If that is what he decides today.
Luca drove across town to his childhood home after the team bus returned to the arena. He didn’t want to stay in the hockey house with all his teammates. Not when he had to decide if he was going to return for his fourth year, or appease the team in the other major city here and sign his first professional contract.
It feels unbearable to choose right now when he is still so damn disappointed.
Luca finds himself thinking of the footsteps of his father that he may be following into the next week.
His dad never went to college. He had a much different path to the National Hockey League compared to him. Luca could have signed right after his freshman year of college as a national champion, but his mom had not liked the idea of that. What was the rush? He was barely 19. So he stayed in school. After his Sophomore year, an early playoff exit made it feel like there was unfinished business still. This year, he teeters on the edge more than ever, ready to make the jump but worried about what opportunities he may be leaving behind. Then there is the risk of a career ending injury before he even had his shot in the show.
He isn’t sure he could live with that anymore than the disappointment over what happened yesterday evening.
Luca takes off his U of MN hat, tossing it onto the kitchen table. His little sister, Lena, sits across the table, smiling at him with a mouth full of braces.
“Either way you’ll stay home with us.” Lena points out with a quick shrug. He smiles at her.
“That’s true. I need you for luck, bean.”
The door to the garage opens and in walks his dad loaded down with groceries.
“You better be staying for dinner.” His dad warns before his mom walks in. “Your mom bought the whole store.”
“She does that if Luca is here or not.” Lena points out. Kevin laughs loudly.
“Baby, tell her that when she gets in here.”
“No!” Lena giggles. “I bet she got me ice cream!”
Luca stands, helping his parents bring in the rest of the bags which does look like it is equivalent to the entire grocery section of Target.
“Okay! I have food to make whatever you could possible want.” His mom claps her hands excitedly.
“Um, the tortellini bake? With Texas toast?”
“Perfectly you.” She smiles, then comes around to his chair to hug him across his wide shoulders. “How are you doing?”
“Good.” Luca nods. His eyes raise to where his dad is at the kitchen island, eating an apple. Kevin can see the turmoil all over his only son’s face.
“Let’s take a walk.” Kevin jerks his head towards the door.
Kevin has mostly stayed out of his son’s decision, but in his trip to Target with his wife, Sam encouraged him to make himself available to Luca. Although their experiences are different, Kevin knows what it feels like to question if he can make it at the next level. Luca will be giving up a lot at the U- another chance at the natty, potentially a Hobey Baker nomination, and for sure the C on his left chest.
After stuffing his feet into his sneakers, Luca follows his dad down the long driveway.
“Where you at?” Kevin asks once they pass Luca’s Jeep in the driveway.
“Huh?”
“Pick right now, what’s your choice?”
“Wha-“
“Now. Pick.”
“NHL!” Luca sputters.
“Was that hard?”
“Yes.” Luca snaps. Kevin chuckles, tossing an arm across his son’s shoulders.
“What’s keeping you from taking the next step?”
“What if it’s not the right choice?”
“Is it what you want?” Luca sighs, stopping at the end of the driveway.
“Yes. But mama… She wants me to finish school.”
“I do too.” Kevin clarifies. “But you said you can finish in the summer, no?”
“Yes, but what about my teammates?” Luca continues.
“They will understand. You have been a team player the last three years. It’s okay to make the decision you want for yourself and this next year of your life.”
“Would you be disappointed in me if I didn’t turn pro?”
“No.” Kevin sighs heavily, then pulls Luca into his chest to hug him. “This also isn’t about me. Or mama. Or your teammates. It’s about what you feel is your next step. No one can decide this but you, bud.”
Luca stares back at his dad. He does the visualization exercise he has been attempting to do all day. He can see himself in a green sweater, warming up on the ice at the Xcel Energy Center. His parents are there and his sisters. The number 22 is on his back and he knows this is where he is supposed to be. He gives his dad a slight smile.
“You’re gonna go?” Kevin asks. Luca nods.
“Will you tell mama?” Kevin chuckles, rocking back on his heels.
“No. Your first big boy task is breaking the news to your mama.” Kevin squeezes the back of Luca’s neck, then turns with him back towards the house. “I’m really proud of you. I want you to know that today. Not just as a hockey player but as my son and a man. You’re a great person. Thats what makes mama and I the most proud of you every day. Don’t lose that in this next step. There will be trials… questions… about who you are and what you’re about. Stay true to yourself. You’ll be okay.”
“I don’t think I could go now if it meant leaving you guys.” Luca answers honestly.
“Staying here isn’t guaranteed. Just be grateful for every day, okay?”
Luca nods, then walks into the house to tell his mom about his decision.

META : ARTHUR'S TRAUMA . ↳ AND WHAT IT DOES TO HIM .
Tumblr media
We all know that Arthur isn't perfect. Though generally very cordial, polite, and considerate, he has a sort of air to him of emotional instability and jealousy. Also, he can be a bit defensive and self-centered from time-to-time, often putting himself first when it comes to situations that may induce any emotional, physical, or psychological damage to him. If things aren't necessarily the way that he finds suitable for him, he tends to flee the scene.
So, that begs the question. Where the heck did all those glaring flaws come from?
( TL;DR -- Loads of emotional abuse by an emotionally absent father, the death of a mother, and a woman who never gave him a secure relationship lead him to have a rather temperamental attitude. Both because he subconsciously doesn't know how else to get his feelings out but by being as emotional as possible as he was never taught to rationalize or emotionally regulate and because he never had the chance to put himself first having been forced to watch someone who had autism as a preteen. )
Let's start with Sally Boyle. The first woman that Arthur ever loved. He knew her since primary school and used to watch her from her window from time-to-time, the pervert! Without knowing how else to approach her as his mom was already sick from an odd disease and couldn't help him talk about women, he waited to spend time with her until she began living with him.
It was a wonderful time at first. As hinted in the game multiple times, Sally encouraged Arthur to trespass in places they weren't supposed to. They blew up a postbox, and they put fish in the fountain at a park. Normally Arthur isn't this type of person -- he's very sheepish and to himself. He'd rather read a book than go off and rob a place. But because Sally had that spunk and he loved her to bits, he did it for her because he wanted to spend time with her.
But then she started spending time with other people:
"The thing is, I don't trust her. She was always so wonderful when she was there, but a girl like Sally always has so many better places to be, and better people to be with, or worse people that she prefers anyway for some reason." -- Arthur's Notebook in game.
Which immediately hints that she never made their relationship secure. Now you may doubt that but here is a note from Sally when she kisses him on impulse.
"why did i do that?
it was nice. why didn't i ever do it before?
because look at what happens. i fuck everything up. think, sally, think!" -- Sally's Notebook in game
At multiple points in Sally's act, you hear reminiscing from her thinking about how much she loved Arthur, but she could never just take that step to make it official. She only knew how to use men because she doesn't trust or necessarily like them. And because she never made a relationship secure with Arthur, he felt like she was never honest. And never wanted to be around. Or always fancied someone else, even if she never really did.
But Arthur can only comprehend what he believes to see. He is so adamant on what he witnesses, as he is an extremely analytical person. Though he gets that from being a stupendous student and excelling at english class, he was also abused from his father. And those abused are often more than not, rather astute at others body language and emotions. Though it doesn't outright say it, you can gather the hints at it in his memories.
youtube
At the memory in 7:28, it talks about Arthur's father calling his son down from a tree after realizing he's being sent off to Germany. Instead of trying to rationalize the situation and allow his emotions to be regulated or teaching him to regulate them, he simply manipulates him into coming down.
At 10:55, the memory talks about Percy wondering why the Germans are taking the kids away. Instead of taking a moment to regulate emotions, Arthur lets them out impulsively and regrets it a second later. This hints again, he was never taught to regulate.
At 14:20, there's another memory where the same thing happens again.
At 17:50, Arthur's father tells his son that they're bringing him Sally from her house. Begrudgingly, Arthur disagrees and says that she's an idiot. Instead of trying to explain how that's not generous of him, he says "you two should get along perfectly." Literally him bullying his child.
At 20:21, the memory talks about how Percy doesn't want Arthur to leave for Germany. But it also says that their father never really talks to Percy, opening up a whole new can of worms for his abusive nature. Also, if you look at their birthdays, they are genuinely less than a year apart, meaning that his father wanted to have a kid as soon as they realized that he wasn't "normal."
And at the last memory, his father tells Arthur he doesn't talk bollocks all the time when he realizes that Percy is gone forever. He never wanted that child. And frankly, because he's such a shit man, he never treated Arthur right to begin with.
He just wanted to have a kid to seem "proper" to everyone. He never knew how to raise something and didn't want to after his wife died.
Throughout the game, there are various voicelines articulated by Arthur that describe a hatred toward his father. He never missed him, he never treated Percy right, and he was generally a pisspoor person. Though he did teach Arthur how to be a handyman and punished him whenever he fucked up at school or trespassed with Sally, it doesn't add up to horrible mistreatment, manipulation, and general lack of decent parenting over the years.
After all, he was left to raise Percy on his own as a child. He wasn't equipped to raise Percy! He didn't know how to handle someone with autism! In fact, there's a voiceline Arthur says that hints that he didn't even know what Percy had!
"I remember when they came back from London, Mum wouldn't stop crying for a week, but all Percy could talk about was the train." -- Arthur Voiceline whilst Idle.
"They never told me what that specialist said, the one in London, when they took him to see him." -- Arthur Voiceline whilst Idle.
Arthur never felt like he could do anything by himself. He never had a childhood, and as such, he grasps what control he can have now since his father never cared for his brother and his mom died when they were growing up. If he can try and manipulate a situation or perhaps a person ( which his dad did too, btw, like father like son ) , maybe he can get off scot-free? Though that usually only happens, as I said before, in situations he doesn't seem that would be pleasant to him.
Percy wasn't a pleasantry. He loved his brother and cared for his brother, but he was just so tired. He wanted to be by himself. He wanted to have a childhood that Percy was having. So, because he neglected the emotional regulation thanks to a neglectful father, his impulsive behaviors lead to the departure of his brother.
Arthur has grown so much. But because of his father, because of Sally, and because of the death of his mother, there are just some pieces of himself that he can never change. Emotional regulation is extremely tough, and his expressive nature, exploding rage, and immense jealousy is a prime example of that.

FFXVI Rewrite Part 4: Overhauling Waloed and Barnabas
I was dissatisfied with Anabella's character in the original game. She's built up as this greater antagonist on par with Barnabas and implied to have a connection to Ultima and the greater working of the plot and then all this comes to nothing as Ultima has possessed Olivier and is the actual mastermind. Additionally, Anabella highly parallels Ultima as they are both the demiurges of Gnosticism, evil and controlling creator figures that see their creations as wholly belonging to and existing for their sake. To Ultima and Anabella their creations are not independent of them, their creations/children should have no independent will, they are the ones who make decisions and their creations obey. This like all the themes in FFXVI is underdeveloped and I intend to change that by deepening the themes of free will, creation and creator, master and slave, existence before essence, and the weight of choice.
In this rewrite I'm going to keep Anabella just as reprehensible and classist as she is in the actual game but I'm going to give her more agency as a character and this is where things really change. Here Olivier has not been possessed, Anabella think him Greagor a god incarnate and convinces the Emperor but he's really just a spoiled dependent boy. In the scene where Dion goes berserk it is Anabella that triggers it not Ultima. Anabella goads him and Olivier not really knowing or caring what is going on but of course his mother is always right joins in and goes a step further. Dion kills his father just like Anabella plans and as she plays victim screaming that he's a kinslayer she hurls an Ultima imbued shard of the Mothercrystal at Dion. The crystal connects Dion with the Mothercrystal and floods him with aether with combined with his instability causes him to go berserk. As the city burns there's a scene of Anabella riding off in a carriage holding Olivier and smirking. Then Phoenix flies overhead locked in battle and we see Anabella falter as she stares up at Phoenix.
During the first week of the game’s release, I was speculating whether Anabella was Clive's biological mother at all (or if Elwin was Joshua’s father) given the strange and tense family dynamics of the Rosfields as well as how dissimilar Clive and Anabella look. However, since finishing the game and coming to understand that Anabella was designed as a foil character to Ultima, it does make more sense that Clive is her biological son. For both Ultima and Anabella Clive is their failed creation, the one that went astray. They are both interpretations of the Demiurge which in Gnosticism is the creator of the material world, the material world being fake and an evil prison to keep people from the true holy spiritual world, so the Demiurge is the evil controlling god trying to keep humans from true existence. In this rewrite I want to enhance the existing themes in the game from its Gnostic symbolism, to that of the relationships between creator and creator, master and slave. Making clear that Clive is Anabella’s son enhances these themes. Anabella doesn’t hate Clive because Elwin cheated on her and is forcing her see proof of their unequal status and powerlessness every day, Anabella hates Clive because she feels she owns him as his mother and that he has failed her arbitrary and impossible expectations by daring first to not manifest the Phoenix and then to dare have positive attributes and overshadow her younger son who did manifest the Phoenix. Anabella hates Clive for incredibly stupid, self-centered, and petty reasons.
Now comes the hard part where I break the original FFXVI’s plot across my knee and throw the whole thing out the window because the Waloed section through to the end of the game was a mess. First let me discuss what the writers tried to do and how they failed. King Barnabas was intended as Ultima’s successful creation to foil Clive as the failed creation. Clive asserts his independent will, his desire to live on his own terms, and that he will throw down all shackles forces upon him. Barnabas has forfeited his will and individuality for a life of religious devotion as Ultima’s puppet. Conceptually this isn't bad, the problem is in execution. Barnabas ended up being incredibly disappointing and boring as a character. For all Ultima and Barnabas' discussions of severing the ties of consciousness between Clive and his companions, they don't do anything or pose any sort of narrative threat. There are no stakes to this arc beyond a distant feeling that the world might end. Ultima shows up and has pointless conversations with Clive that go nowhere, establish nothing, and do nothing to progress the plot or stakes. From a character motivation standpoint at this point of the game Clive is doing exactly what Ultima wants so there’s no reason for Ultima to keep talking to Clive either. FFXVI tries to portray religious extremism and fails miserably. The game does little to establish religion and belief as a main theme in the game despite it being present in the background, the says nothing meaningful about religion and the only thing mildly interesting to happen, happens in an easily missed sidequest for the Undying.
Originally, I did consider trying to build off of this foiling of the slave to religion vs. the free man but to make it work actually involves changing more of the plot than the alternative and it just kept writing itself into a corner. A lot more would have needed to be done with religion earlier in the game, perhaps exploring how the different culture’s in Valisthea had different belief systems and interacting with how their various beliefs, theologies, and philosophies play out. They also could have had a story arc about how religion is used to subjugate, indoctrinate, and control people. More could have been done tying Ultima to the major religions of Valisthea like how Greagor is actually Ultima. Ultima and Barnabas should have followed through with those threats to sever the bounds of consciousness and started killing off the entire cast. The Hideaway should have been invaded and destroyed and the hub area lost. Otto, Mid, Vivian, Harpocrates, and eventually Gav, Jill, and Joshua. This would all have had massive gameplay and story implications and at that point I thought this was too much work for something I’m doing for fun, it’s not like Squeenix is paying me to fix their writing problems.
The solution I decided on completely flips Barnabas’ character and ideology, and ironically that changes less of the story than trying to stay true to the writers’ intentions. In this rewrite Barnabas still foils Clive but in the completely opposite way he does in the actual game. Here Barnabas is also a proponent of free will but in contrast with Clive’s more community minded approach to raising people up, Barnabas’ meaning of free will is the ability for him to impose his will over other people. Cid and Clive respect the rights and wills of all people while new Barnabas only respects his own will. Because Waloed no longer serves Ultima, the invasions of Dhalmek and Kanver here are due to Tharmr’s global conquest ambitions and to a lesser degree him shoring up resources to take on Ultima.
Barnabas here is in some ways a Übermensch, he is someone who has transcended all measure of human morality to create his own values to live by, someone who commands, creates and strikes his own path instead of obeying or following, someone powerful who’s power comes from them and not society. This new version of Barnabas has ironically cast aside religion and gods much like an Übermensch who Nietzche’s speculated would rise in the void of faith after the fall of Christian morality, to rise above humanity and gods both as a new being. As a critique of the concept, this Barnabas is also a self-centered and violent tyrant with no care for others, delusions of grandeur, and dreams of conquest and subjugation to bend lesser men to his will in a might equals right world. Benedrikta found Barnabas’ veneer of power alluring as she too desired power while Cid initially optimistic of the new world order Barnabas was trying to forge eventually grew disillusioned and bitter at his disregard for other people. Of note is that Barnabas does not have Ultima’s magic anti-aging serum in this version of events, the similar lack of aging was why I suspected Anabella to be similarly involved early on but that just ended up being a plot hole in the original game. There are two options to deal with this, first that Barnabas is an old man in his 60’s adding a layer of desperation to his conquests though that would not explain the lull in activity in recent years in in the actual game is explained by his contact with Ultima. The other option is that the timeline is changed so that the conquest of Ash is more recent.
Similar strongman archetypes to this new version of Barnabas can be found in the Chaos Heroes of the Shin Megami Tensei main games especially the early games, and in Walhart from Fire Emblem: Awakening. I want to discuss Walhart further because this Barnabas has ended up being a very similar character. Both are ruthless dictators seeking to take over the world who will destroy all opposition with force, they see themselves as the strongest, both refuse to bow to or worship anything. They would both unite the armies of the world to destroy the evil gods who would seek to end the world and the party defeating them ironically makes it easier for the evil god characters to destroy the world as the party just removed one of their obstacles for them. This focus on power and individual merit while deemphasizing position and background likewise justifies Waloed as the only nation accepting of beastmen into its military ranks. Barnabas doesn’t care who you are he care what you can do, it’s how outlanders like himself, Cid, or Benedrikta rose so high in the ranks.
The next arc will be Waloed and the destruction of the 5th and final Mothercrystal, Drakes Spine. With the nations of Storm in shambles, the war machine of Waloed rumbles and they prepare a full-scale invasion of Storm. The party must scramble to unite factions that were just at war with each other to prepare for the full-on invasion. They aim to strike the heart of Waloed before the war ships launch hoping to throw Waloed into disarray. The plan is to split the party with one group rallying around Kanver to make a stand while another infiltrates and destroys Drake’s Spine. By this point Clive and Ifrit have gotten famous or perhaps infamous as the most powerful man on Storm and Barnabas is coming to challenge him directly as such Clive will be at the front of the defense hoping to kill Barnabas and dissolve his empire. Joshua will be leading a small party into Waloed and the one with the most experience with Mothercrystals. Joshua will then become the main playable character during this section with cutscenes showing Clive organizing the people of Storm and forming a rapport with Dion as another man who’s eikon went berserk and destroyed the people he’d sworn to protect they are both knights who failed. The rest of the party hasn’t quite been set in stone but I think Gav and Jote would go with Joshua and that Clive would send Torgal to look after Joshua. Ash isn’t quite as desolate as it is in the actual game but between the conscriptions, the heavy taxes, the blight, and the increased monster activity (Fallen, spectres and wraith type enemies) it is still pretty bad in Ash. As such getting to Drake’s Spine will involve a lot more stealth than it does in the real game but they get there as its garrisons have emptied for war and make their way to the heart of the Mothercrystal. This section of the game introduces the Circle of Malius which worships Ultima and part of exploring Ash is Joshua going to those ruins and learning how their teachings say that Ultima created humanity and that humanity should serve because it is their destiny and purpose. During the Waloed section there’s a brief cutscene of a pan shot of Anabella and an escort party walking through Fallen architecture.
While Joshua makes his way through the fortress to the Mothercrystal, the fight for Kanver begins and at the climax of both events Clive faces off against Barnabas at the same time that Joshua meets Sleipnir in Drake’s Spine who was ordered to stay behind because Waloed suspected something like this might happen. Gameplay then switches between the two battles with eikonic titans Ifrit and Odin clashing and splitting the sea, while contrasted to Joshua and Sleipnir dueling with rapiers across the crystal floor. As the Vassal of Odin Sleipnir is more than enough to hold off Joshua and Joshua is forced to semi-prime to stand a chance, further risking his health. Sleipnir here is not an egi and extension of Odin, instead he is a normal human man who believes in new Barnabas’ ideals and is loyal to him. Eventually both Joshua and Clive manage to kill their opponents, on screen it should be a split perspective for the final blow with both Joshua and Clive striking down their opponents at the same time.
The Barnabas and Clive fight is a battle of ideals. Both characters are proponents of free will and that people should be able to live on their own terms but they have wildly different interpretations as to what this looks like implemented in the real world. Inevitably some person’s terms will clash with another person’s terms. Barnabas sees this as a matter of individual strength, that one must be strong to be able to decide their own life, to rise beyond the masses and take life by the reins. The rule of the jungle where the strong have the power to do whatever they want, and if the weak want change than all they have to do is become stronger. Clive is more cooperation and community minded; it is about everyone lifting each other up to a better life. There’s the paradox of tolerance in that if a community tolerates intolerance for certain people that community will become as intolerant and bigoted as possible, so to maintain tolerance and equal rights intolerance must not be tolerated. To ensure the rights of all, some times limits need to be put on people, especially limits on the rich and powerful. I do wish the actual game had engaged with Clive’s life experiences more because he’s seen first hand the social determinants of health and how society treats those it doesn’t care about, the least protected. Another change is that I would make the Barnabas Clive fight much more exciting. Anticlimactic fights are fine but they have to be done with purpose (as I intend to do later), a fight is anticlimactic to contrast it with other fights or to drive home an emotional point in the narrative, but the lack of excitement in the original fight serves no purpose, its just boring. Some ideas I have are for the fight to be over the water with Odin cleaving the ocean into several parts and Ifrit hoping between and boiling away parts of the ocean to clear a path. I’m not a fight choreographer but this fight needs to be big and as flashy and impressive as the others in the game.

Cassiopeia was born May 28, 1960 (six months after Sirius was born)
She was born premature in St. Mungo's and almost died until the healers saved her life, but she had to be held at St.Mungos for a month for further examination
Ever since she was a baby, she has always had strange dreams. It wasn't until she was 4 years old that she understood she had the ability of foresight, but she almost never understood her visions or had complete control over when they happened.
As soon as she could speak and walk, her mother taught her everything she could, from proper manners and etiquette to every type of magic their family library contained
From a young age, she was always known as the most beautiful of all the Black women in her family, even her cousins (some people theorized she was part Veela, but thanks to her hair, that theory was long forgotten)
Cassiopeia has a photographic memory and is extremely intelligent
Sirius, Cassiopeia, and Regulus were very close as children, like attached to the hip close.
Cassiopeia plays violin, piano, and harp
When Sirius would tease Regulus, Cassie would often scold him and defend Regulus
Before Sirius left for Hogwarts, Cassie gave him and Regulus charm jewelry for the three of them that she made herself with the help of her uncle Adolphus and magic (of course)
Sirius and Regulus had a bracelet, and Cassiopeia had a necklace (the charms were a dog for Sirius, a star for Regulus and a crown for Cassiopeia)
When they wear their bracelets and necklace, they feel a warmth and close to one another no matter how far away they are physically
Cassiopeia never understood why muggle and half-blood witches were hated so much by her family and most of the pureblood society (she never spoke out loud about it, tho)
Out of all her cousins, she had more of a close relationship with Narcissa. Cassie was scared of Bellatrix and found Andromeda to be an enigma. But Cassie loves all three of her cousins nonetheless.
Narcissa and Cassiopeia talk about fashion, makeup, gossip (both in their families and at hogwarts), and what's happening in their lives
She's a daddy's girl
Whenever Cassiopeia would read, draw, or just wanted a conversation. She would be welcomed in her father's office sometimes, and they just sit in their chairs either in comfortable silence, playing a game of wizards chess, or having a simple conversation.
Cassiopeia loves having tea parties. She would often have them with her mother, her cousins, or Kreacher
Before Hogwarts, she practiced a lot of wandless magic in the privacy of her room
She is extremely observant
Cassie never understood womanhood and why they kept grooming themselves or acted the way they did until years later
Ever since Cassiopeia was born, her parents have received thousands of letters requesting her future betrothal to the sons of the sacred 28 pureblood families, but they hid the letters and delayed their answer (Orion's request) until both Orion and Walburga decided that their only daughter was old enough to understand
As soon as her family were alerted that Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor, they immediately started preparing Cassie and Regulus to take on Sirius's duties just in case things went downhill (which it did)
The House of Black is the center of attention in politics. So every member of their family have to keep appearances to the public and the daily prophet
Cassiopeia loves spending time with her uncle Adolphus, but she is terrified of her uncle Cygnus and Aunt Druella. Same feeling with her mother.
Out of her two brothers, she was closer with Sirius, but after Hogwarts, they drifted apart. So Cassie and Regulus grew closer together and protected each other (more Cassie protecting Regulus)
She doesn't treat Kreacher poorly. She actually sees him as part of the family despite his attitude and treats him with great respect and kindness (when her mother's not paying attention)
When Sirius returned from Hogwarts, Cassie already knew Sirius was drifting away, but she tried to ignore it and pretend her brother wasn't changing and not pulling away from her and her family.

L x Yagami Light Dating Without the Death Note Headcanons
Warnings: I have a feeling that you won't like my answer, so it's under the cut. I'll warn you now, it's very long and detailed.
Anonymous Request: What is your hc about if light dating L and without death note thingy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
.
.
.
If you mean by the Death Note existing at all? Then there would be a very small, slim, even miniscule chance that Light and L would have ever met. If Ryuk had never come around with his notebook, if Light had never seen it, then I don't think that ship could ever happen.
Not unless Light decides to challenge L or the other top three detectives in the world for the title or becomes a serial killer in another way. If that was the case, then this should would encounter some of the same traits in canon: the competition, the mind games, etc. However, since Light isn't Kira and there isn't any supernatural influences, then there is a chance that L will win and put Light in prison. I don't think L is about having relations with an inmate, but I doubt that he would want to pursue a relationship with Light considering that once he's in jail, there's no more fun in that, isn't there?
Because that's what drew those two together, the fact that the both of them can keep each other on their toes, never realizing what the other will do next. Once there is a definitive loser, the winner will have no reason to stay with the loser.
It's their pride, methinks that will interfere with their supposed relationship.
However, what would happen if there was in fact a Death Note, but it did not end up in Light's hands? Well, the reason why L was so interested in the killings was because Light had centered most of his killings in Japan. It was an intriguing case and one that promised L that it would alleviate his boredom. Furthermore, Light played into his trap that the original television broadcast was aired to the entirety of Japan and not just Kanto.
So, what can we extrapolate from this data?
You need another person who wishes to kill criminals all over the world (possibly is as childish and as justice driven as Light), also resides in Japan, and will easily fall prey to L's tricks. Furthermore, you will also need to find a person who is not as easily guilted into dropping the notebook and giving it to someone else (like Light did). Already, you need to have someone who has to have a genius mind or an intelligence on par or even surpassing Light and needs to be in the general vicinity of Light's original location.
Again, the chances are slim that Light and L will meet in this universe. However, if they do, they will be at best allies and at worst, very annoyed coworkers. If this universe takes place during the same timeline (Light basically graduating high school at the beginning) and his father also works under L, you're going to have realize that again, I don't think this relationship is going to happen.
First of all, there is the age difference. Light is like 17-18 at the beginning and L is 24-25. Plus, there's Soichiro to consider. You really think that Soichiro is going to let his son enter into an unprofessional relationship with a man who is already an adult when Light is just recently coming into his own? The only reason why Light was allowed to come this close to the investigation was because he was a Kira suspect. In this supposed universe, Light is innocent and has no idea that the Death Note exists. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's canon that no one outside of the Task Force were to tell anyone that they were involved in the Kira investigation. If that's the case, then Light would only have suspicions that maybe his father is working on the Kira investigation, but he can't butt in because that's not his prerogative and he's supposed to be focusing on his studies in college.
So, we've missed the initial meeting between L and Light. What if the investigation continues on for a few more years, what then? Well, again, you're going to have look at a Kira (not Light) who can keep L on his toes and can evade detection for just as long. However, again, that chance of having someone who is on par with Light is just as slim, close to zero maybe. If anything, L could probably find this version of Kira faster and then the investigation would be over, Soichiro could go home happy, and Light would be none the wiser while completing his studies.
Again, no relationship.
You could argue that maybe the Death Note ends up in a different country, L ends up in a battle of wits again someone with intelligence as him, and the Kira investigation lasts for years. Perhaps Light can be brought in as a consultant. Maybe he gets to be in a position where he gets to meet L himself. That's a lot of ifs.
Here's the thing, I don't think L or Light are interested in having a relationship, especially with people they are working with. In my mind, they are too preoccupied with being professional.
HOWEVER
If there is a chance that a romance could blossom... It won't be that romantic, and maybe not even that sexual.
It's mainly just banter, fighting, maybe even civil discussions about philosophy. They don't think about romance, especially not at first, but they are drawn to each other's intelligence. However, pride wins out, it always does. Perhaps Light begins to lust after the power that L has at his fingertips and schemes to take L's thrown away from him. Perhaps Light wants to become the next biggest detective... or be the instigator for the world's greatest mystery that even L can't solve. Maybe he'll commit a crime and dispose all evidence.
It'll rankle at L and they'll engage in the battle of the minds.
They attack, they parry, all with words and the vitriol of two scorned lovers who can't look at anyone else.
Eventually, it all ends in canon. One has to kill the other.
Because how else can they express their love for each other than to consume and destroy until nothing is left of their dear lover?
What I'm saying is, there is no known universe where Light and L don't have a dysfunctional relationship where one doesn't want to bring the other to heel.
If you're looking for romance and sexual proclivities, this isn't it. This is soulmateship in its rawest, purest form. The urge to be each other's only world until they have no choice to destroy it so the outside world can never taint the other.
So, what are your thoughts?

You're the Eggman guru so I'm interested in how you feel about people portraying Eggman having a sort of ''father-son'' relationship with Metal Sonic. I feel like Eggman does care about Metal Sonic a lot more compared to other things he's made (And is most definitely proud of it since Metal is his greatest creation) and he's willing to put up with Metal's occassional rebelling and put him back in his place, but I also feel like people also make it out to be a lot... Softer, I guess? I want to hear your thoughts on this and how you see their relationship.
I'm honored to be given the title of Eggman guru, thank you! XD 💜🥚
The father and son dynamic is canon to Archie and IDW and so I have no inherent issues with it existing there, or the people that enjoy it. I'm not as super into it as everyone else seems to be, in most cases, too much family talk be it blood-related or not is personally uncomfortable to me in excess lol but I can enjoy the dynamic to an extent. They look good together and there has been pretty cute moments, I don't mind them in the small amounts they show and it's really the fandom that makes it out to be a lot softer than it actually is. I still don't think Eggman would genuinely act like a full time father to Metal, have an extreme amount of emotional attachment, and certainly not empathy for him as I don't think he has it in him. (That last part does seem to be true even for IDW Eggman, as he doesn't actually get upset when Metal is destroyed in Imposter Syndrome #4, he cared and reacted more than that only as Mr. Tinker. I like that.)
But as for game Eggman, the dynamic is nonexistent and I don't think that should suddenly change. It wouldn't make sense and I think it would be out of character if portrayed in the same way it has been in Archie and IDW for the most part. If you're curious as to why in more depth, I made a post with examples showing how he really isn't all that caring towards Metal in the games and you can read it here. I wish more people would acknowledge that he hasn't been particularly kind and caring in the games, in fact quite the opposite. The closest you could say it's been in a game are the Olympics team up intro moments, renders, and special animation but they're spin-offs and I don't think having his robot on his team and patting him on the back immediately implies a father and son dynamic between them lol
Game Eggman has never referred to himself as Metal's father and he doesn't act and care for him like one, so I have no reason to think so and I really don't think it would fit him the way the majority of fans like it. He doesn't have any emotional feelings or empathy for any robots in general because he easily yells at and hits them, calls them junk and other insults, and will easily threaten and destroy them when they disappoint him, he no longer has any need for them, or he just gets impatient and bored, without hesitation or remorse. I touched on this in better words here. With all this in mind, I'd hope he doesn't see them as like kids to him because yeahhh... Even with that aside, let's be real, he wouldn't be a good father figure in general, given how deeply selfish and self centered he is. He doesn't have the time or care for anyone else. I really can't see him being interested and it's a good thing as he's not suitable for it.
I do think that Metal Sonic is one of his most prized creations above his mass produced robots and prides himself for him being one of his greatest creations. But it's not love and care for him as if he's a living being, it's just pride he feels for him being his own creation and one of his most impressive. When he praises him, he's praising himself as his creator. But he still doesn't let him rebel without punishment and has even carelessly abandoned him more than once, not just for rebelling but also just for failing him in other times. While he would understandably like to salvage him in most cases, he can always replace him with another model and won't hesitate fleeing a scene without bothering to try to take him with him. And he evidently doesn't have an attachment to any specific model either way, as sometimes he clearly doesn't want to keep him and abandons him entirely by choice.
But I do at least think that if the dynamic had to exist in any way in the games, then him acting like Metal is a son to him and praising and rewarding him in some ways when he does things right could be something he'd try as a way to keep him motivated and loyal so he won't rebel, kind of like how he tried to with Gamma. But I can only see him doing it mildly, he'd still idle him when he doesn't need him instead of letting him wander around his living space like a genuine family member, wouldn't be that serious about calling himself his daddy, and wouldn't feel a genuine emotional attachment or empathy for him. Then it could feel more faithful and in character for game Eggman, certainly not very pure like most people want it to be but it would actually be pretty interesting to me XD

INFO.
Everything on his wiki is canon, in regular nephilim condition, Jack overpowers an Archangel however he is heavily wounded at this time
After Chuck tricked Jack with the help of an angel and regained his powers, he sent Jack to prison in Heaven. Chuck needed all the power of the heavenly realm to contain the dynamic energy of Jack’s drained body. Chuck kept Jack at the center of heaven, where Jack was able to cool down his chaotic body energies with the Heavenly core.
The collision of the remaining world caused such a significant imbalance in the other realms that Jack was able to come back to Earth. He used his powers to descend from heaven to earth and this proved to hurt him a lot so for now he does not use his powers
He is heavily wounded energetically as the trauma of not being one with everything anymore takes time to dissipate
Unbeknownst to Jack, the holding back of his powers are causing random life force absorptions and dispersions. This is causing living beings around him to randomly wither/die quicker but sometimes randomly blossom/grow faster.
PLOT IDEAS.
Reunion with other canon connections such as his fathers!
Jack came to earth to find his fathers but for some reason ended up in NOLA and can't leave anymore.
Jack has answered many prayers as his time as god, mostly discreetly but in rare occasions he showed himself in dreams or in waking life to people, your character could recognize him... OR Jack recognizes your character or event associated with your character's past
Jack is going through some unusual mental health issues as his trauma is caused by the sudden departure of his sensation of unity with all, he will be dealing with issues especially with all the random energies around him, your character could notice this...
Jack doesn't know exactly what is next in store for him in life so he is open for adventures and new connections!

Sexuality: Bisexual

— PHYSICAL

Charming but manipulative - She learned from a young age that you catch more flies with honey and if you do it well enough, they won’t even notice that the honey is at the center of a black widow’s web.
Patient and vengeful - Sometimes, good things come to those who wait. And sometimes the results of playing the long game is so much more satisfying than quick retribution.
— HISTORY
Raised a princess in the Rus empire, Tatiana was married off to a paranoid beast of a man at the young age of fifteen. After being brutalized on their wedding night, she hid her pain with a smile and started to placate his rage in order to ensure her own safety.
She appeared as the perfect, doting wife. Faking adoration for her husband while winning favor from his people and lords as a kind and fair mistress. Her words able to grant mercy to those her husband grew paranoid about.
As everyone knows, being the perfect wife in those days also meant producing an heir. Despite her fierce, secret hatred for her husband, she adored her son and went to great lengths in order to protect him from his own father.
Eventually, her husband began to suspect her of an affair, making her watch as the man he had suspected of bedding her was torn apart by horses. He even went so far as to speculate that their son wasn’t his, threatening to kill the child if he ever found any kind of proof.
One day, while travelling and vulnerable, two of her siblings were attacked by a rival lord. Their deaths spawning a war that resulted in her husband conquering the land of his rival. During this war, she would discover that the attack on her siblings was ordered by her husband. Survival turned into a thirst for revenge.
She started to become more strategic with who she negotiated mercy for while other times, only encouraging the paranoia in her husband’s mind. This led to him making enemies and distrust started to grow among his people.
It all came to a masterful conclusion when she met the vampire, Vlad Dragoș. She faked her death, framing her husband for the murder. Her family, powerful in their own right, then declared war on him. Between the enemies he had made and his own people starting to turn on him, he was easily defeated and she watched from afar as he was executed.
Becoming a vampire didn’t change too much for Tatiana, she has spent most of her immortal life enjoying luxuries and keeping herself entertained with games. She ended up in New York some time ago and find she enjoys living in one of the world’s hearts of art and beauty.
— CURRENT PLOTS
Bloodlines - Twice now, she’s encountered a man who looked remarkably similar to the son she had to leave behind with her family. She’s kept a watchful eye on him since New Years, feeling a certain obligation of protection for him.
— MUSINGS
— CONNECTIONS
Vlad Dragoș - Maker; Her relationship with her maker is not terribly traditional, mainly because he is not a traditional maker. He was a means to an end but that doesn’t mean that she hasn’t grown to feel a deep respect and friendship for her maker.
Miska Liev - Descendant; She’s well aware the human is distantly related to her. Not that he knows or even seems to know of the supernatural in general. Still, she keeps a distant yet careful eye on him, especially in a city like this.

Renathal and Sire Denathrius for the ask game?
Thank you for the asks! @mysdrym I answered the Renathal one here
Renathal
1: Sexuality headcanon - Perfectly pansexual. He has the capacity to be attracted to anyone (I assume this is what Blizzard wants to be canon based on how outrageously he flirts with your character whoever/whatever they are)
2: otp- Renathal/the Maw Walker, and I'm really 21 stories past apology at this point.
3: brotp - Renathal/Theotar because every Prince needs a jester that can tell them what's what without fear of retribution.
4: notp - Renathal/Denathrius. If you’re calling someone your father/son, it’s gonna be a no from me for anything sexual.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - I think my first headcanon I ever had for Renathal was his mortal soul envy (he's the only Venthyr who doesn't have one and that worries him) that spawns his "little mermaid" style collection of mortal stuff he fills Darkwall Tower with.
6: favorite line from this character - in the game? I adore the line “There is no possibility of defeat - oh is that not exciting?” But I have probably listened to his Hearthstone Pirate’s Day greeting now more than anything else 😂
7: one way in which I relate to this character - oldest child perfectionist issues
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - So you're just gonna ... run straight the fuck at Denathrius? That's ... that's the WHOLE plan? That’s not a plan. That's not even a pl.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? He is a problematic cinnamon roll; like a cinnamon roll that has a secret chili powder center. I think people want him to be all cinnamon roll but let’s not forget that he is the Dark Prince and that Venthyr canonically torture souls and condemn them to the Maw. Like, more Gary Oldman Dracula than Luke Evans Dracula.
Denathrius
1: sexuality headcanon - In spite of what I may write later, in my current series I definitely have him as entirely uninterested in all romantic and sexual relationships, but definitely willing and able to use both to manipulate others (Renathal)
2: otp - Denathrius/Denathrius. Only loves himself. Would fuck his clone.
3: brotp - Denathrius/Zovaal but only in the sense that they are both using each other to achieve an end. Each thinks they ultimately have the upper hand in the partnership (and since Denathrius is the one who survives I guess he was sort of right in the end; still crossing fingers for him to be top billed villain a couple expansions down the line)
4: notp - see Renathal's notp. Still applies. I respect everyone else's right to ship this if they want but anything that even smells like it might have walked past someone else smoking incest one time is going to be a no from me always.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - My top headcanon for him will always be that he has a cult leader management style in which he prevents uprising by making sure no one in the realm (read: Renathal) has an intimate relationship (platonic or romantic) that doesn’t center around himself. All Revendreth relationships must revolve around Denathrius, and he purposely stirs the Harvesters against each other to keep them from figuring out his true plans and banding together to depose him.
6: favorite line from this character - “Crawl to me on your knees,” because sometimes evil hot. Still evil though.
7: one way in which I relate to this character: I, too, tend to be holding a wine glass in all my pictures.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - His inability to close his shirt over his massive tits is triggering for me (and the many times I have also been unable to button a shirt for this same issue).
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? In my current series (and canon): Straight up problematic all the way around. In my secret Denathrius WIP, I give him a lot more grace and liberally sprinkle him with cinnamon to help him go down easier 😅
