The Water Classic: Part 2

[This is the core Classic only, i.e. without the Commentary, however the headings, SJZ01, SJZ02, etc., indicates the corresponding scrolls within the much longer Commentary on the Water Classic.]

[The maps are primarily intended to illustrate the Classic. Place names have as far as possible been placed in accordance with the Historic Atlas of China, and the rivers drawn as straight lines between their closest vicinity to each place. The Classic is not error-free, as is made clear in the Commentary. Unless noted otherwise, discrepancies between the Atlas and the Classic have been resolved in favour of the Atlas. Cities, mountains, rivers and other features not in the Atlas have been placed by me to fit the description in the Classic.]

[The Ji River is interesting as a once quite important river that no longer exists.]

Dongguo River洞過水 sets out from a mountain north of Zhan County沾縣, goes west to pass south of Yuci County榆次縣, again west to arrive south of Jinyang County晉陽縣, and to the west enters the Fen汾, making a mouth below the Jin River晉水[?].

Jin River晉水 sets out from Xuanweng懸甕山 west of Jinyang County晉陽縣, again goes south to pass south of that county, and to the east enters into Fen River汾水.

[During Western Zhou, Xie of Tang, a grandson of King Wu, relocated his capital to the north bank of the Jin river, and became known as the Marquis of Jin.]

Zhan River湛水 sets out from a mountain north-west of Henei's河內 Zhi County軹縣, goes east to pass north of that county, again east to pass north of Bo County波縣, again east to pass south of Wupi Town毋辟邑, again south-east to north-east of Ping County平縣, where to the south it enters the He河.

[According to the Commentary, the river described above was actually named the Qu River湨水, while the Zhan湛 was a different, smaller river that entered the He near Deng鄧.

Ji River濟水 sets out from Wangwu Mountain王屋山 east of Hedong's河東 Yuan County垣縣 as the Yan River沇水, again east it arrives north-west of Wen County溫縣 and becomes the Ji River濟水. Again it goes east to pass north of that county, bends from the county to flow south-east, passing west of Tui City隤城, again south to the north of Gong County鞏縣, it to the south enters the He河. It combines flow with the He河, again goes east to pass north of Chenggao County成臯縣, again east to pass north of Xingyang County滎陽縣, again east to arrive south of Li Creek礫溪, and sets out east to pass north of Xing Marsh滎澤. Again going east to pass north of Yangwu County陽武縣, again east to pass north of Fengqiu County封丘縣, again east to pass south of Pingqiu County平丘縣, again east to pass north of Jiyang County濟陽縣, again east to pass south of Yuanqu County冤朐縣, again east to pass south of Dingtao County定陶縣, again bends to flow north-east from the county.

SJZ08

Again east it arrives west of Chengshi County乘氏縣, and divides to become two.

[The Ji River as a branch of the He no longer exists due to changes in the river courses in the centuries since the Classic was written.]

One of the rivers flows south-east, one of the rivers flows north-east from the county, and enters Juye Marsh鉅野澤. Again it goes north-east to pass south of Anmin Precinct安民亭 on the western boundaries of Shouzhang County壽張縣, Wen River 汶水 comes from the north east to pour into it, again north to pass west of Xuchang County須昌縣, again north to pass west of Gucheng County穀城縣, again north to pass east of Linyi County臨邑縣, again north-east to pass north of Lu County盧縣, again north-east to pass north of Tai County臺縣, again north-east to pass south of Jian County菅縣, again east to pass north of Liangzou County梁鄒縣, again north-east to pass south of Linji County臨濟縣, again north-east to pass west of Li County利縣, again north-east to pass Jiaxia Town甲下邑, and enters the He河.

[The Commentary notes that the Ji actually entered the sea separately

The river that flows south-east passes south of Chengshi County乘氏縣, again goes east to pass north of Changyi County昌邑縣, again east to pass south of Jinxiang County金鄉縣, again east to pass north of Dongmin County東緡縣, again east to pass north of Fangyu County方與縣 to become He River菏水. He River菏水 again goes east to pass south of Hulu County湖陸縣, and to the east enters Si River泗水. Again it goes south-east to pass north-east of Pei County沛縣, again south-east to pass north of Liu County留縣, again east to pass north of Pengcheng County彭城縣, Huo River獲水 came from the west to pour into it, again south-east to pass north of Xu County徐縣, again east to arrive south of Xiapi's下邳 Suiling County睢陵縣, and enter the Huai淮.

[The He River菏水 was a manmade channel dug out to connect the Ji with Si (and so ultimately with the Huai.]

HANMA + "eyes up here, baby"

between your teeth, you rip open the package containing a small gauze pad. "chin up," you command, taking a seat next to hanma on your bed, as he complies with a quiet 'mhm'. his golden slits watch you carefully, a pool of guilt swarming in lungs at the concern your eyes showered him with. he never meant to get beaten the hell up, but he always knew he had you to care for him afterwards. you had finished cleaning up the blood from his cheek, and were now settling on the best position to place the gauze pad. he lets out a slight groan when you apply soft pressure, ensuring it in place with some adhesive tape. "sorry, babe. you need a minute?" you lean back, eyes lingering on his soft lips. despite getting hurt almost completely over, hanma's lips didn't suffer a scratch—and you were to quick to notice that. "eyes up here, baby," hanma speaks. his perfect, stupid lips twitch up in a sleak grin at your obviousness. you roll your eyes with a cheeky smile, making him chuckle as he hooks two fingers under your chin, and pulls you closer once more. "can i?" he asks quietly into the small space between you two, you nod. "yeah?"—you nod again, and your breath hitches when you feel his lips on your's, pouring all his gratitude into one kiss.

RAN + "oh love, you know i want more than a peck"

your fingers threaded your boyfriend's hair with expertise, working only to satisfy his needy expectations. "ow! you're tugging too tight, darling," ran pouts, making you stick your tongue out at his childish behaviour. "deal with it, you whiner." the two of you giggle, before quieting down into the peaceful element of you braiding his hair. you tie off the end of the left braid, and switch sides to begin the other. ran closes his eyes, still blanketed with the feeling of sleep and whole-heartedly enamoured by the soothe of your touch as you section off his locks. you smile at the look on his face, no signature smirk or smug sneer—just ran haitani, the man you've grown to cherish. your hands move swiftly, but time slows down as you dawn in on how handsome he really is: long lashes, light, feathered brows, and pouty rosy lips. now tying the braid's end off, your fingers move to cup his cheek. lavender irises blossom open and stare at you, a notable fondness in them. tracing his jaw, you lean in until your lips grazed together and pull back just as quickly. "oh love, you know i want more than a peck," ran whispers, before confidently reconnecting your mouths for a much more heated kiss. and the flustered laughs that leave you only make ran's cheeks deepen in hue.

RINDOU + "what's holding you back?"

"your glasses are dirty," you muse, leaning up to stable yourself against rindou's chest. "let me clean em'," you offer and he hums a soft 'thanks'. reaching over to grab the bottle of lens cleaner on his bedside table. he passes you the cloth as you carefully take the frames off his face. spritzing the liquid on both lens, you make careful work of wiping it off. rindou squints at you—partially, due to the fact he can't see too clearly—but also because he found you most attractive on top of him. he places his hands on your waist, just as you're leaning forward to place his glasses snug on his face. instead of perching back up, rindou's arms keep you tight against him as he shifts your bodies side by side. you let him do as he pleases, hands travelling upwards to caress his bicep. "i want to kiss you," he suddenly whispers, you peer up at him. "what's holding you back?" you respond, chest swirling with wait and want. he smiles at your boldness and leans forward, "nothing." suddenly, the collision of his mouth against yours' was eager, but rindou could barely comprehend the hitch of his own breath when you reciprocated his fervor. he grins into the kiss, and wishes he could do this all night.

KAKUCHO + "that was everything i wanted and more"

the moon stares down at the lovesick couple that hid themself away in an isolated bus stop. its light illuminates through the glass cubicle, dusting a shiny glow on both you and kakucho. the chilly air made its way inside, causing you to shiver and squeeze kakucho's arm a little tighter. he smiles down at you, you just looked so cute; red cheeks, flushed nose, and practically fusing yourself to his side as you scooched impossibly closer. "feeling any warmer, love?" you hum in response, grinning up at him. "thank you kaku'," he smiles again—and out of pure impulse, kakucho brings a hand to your face and cups your cheek. he searches your eyes for any sign of hesitation, or uncertainty. but in your glossy irises, all he can find is longing and love. "kaku..?" you mutter, a cold huff of air dissipating between your lips. your heart flutters with yearning—was he going to kiss you? your suspicions are confirmed when he leans forward, and asks: "may i?" you nod profusely, and crash your mouth onto his. he sighs heavenly as you bunch the front of his sweater. his palm—that was once on your cheek—travels to your nape and pushes you closer to him. moments pass, and the two of you pull back. its quiet while you stare at one another with the most vivid love possible. he murmurs, "that was everything i wanted and more." the moon shined a little brighter that night.

[Book of Chenglei Lore and Official Design]

[This lore is TWST off of Cardcaptor Sakura by Mod Auniro because she wanted to be a cardcaptor]

The Book of Chenglei was once owned by a powerful magician from another world named Chenglei Shuijing many centuries ago. He was known to be a mysterious and spontaneous man who's unique magic capabilities involved giving life to magical entities, known as Lux Spirits, that are an embodiment of a magic spell created from remaining pieces of wandering souls and a hybrid of Western and Eastern magic, keeping them inside as magical cards and secured them inside his magical book.

However one day, he was punished by a God, the punishment meant that his long life span will be cut short for stealing a soul from the underworld. Due to this, Chenglei seeks fortune telling from Oracle concerning his fate. Oracle had foretold Chenglei that once he dies, his magical energy will be passed onto his successors while his soul gets reincarnated. Chenglei understood and decided to prepare a test for his successors in the future and let them inherit his book. He had told Sorin, the Sunlight Lux Spirit, to sleep inside the book in order to become the successors' companion for the test. He had also announced his family about his fate and told his one and only son, Xander, the Moonlight Lux Spirit, to watch over the family while he's gone and Sorin is away, then gave him a special brooch that can notify him that the book has been opened.

After all the preparations are completed, Chenglei had passed away and his magic book is kept inside an interdimensional library where it will wait for the first successor to open it, waiting patiently for the test to start in order to prove that Chenglei's successors are worthy of becoming the new masters of the Lux Spirits.

"Wow this library looks so old." Auniro mused and wandered inside the library of a bookshop, looking around if anything piques her interest or maybe trying to find a Psychology book that she can read and mess with her friends with. Wandering around the aisle of bookshelves, her ears heard a ticking sound of a clock, making the petite girl with glasses turn her head to try to find the source, only to see a thick dark blue book with gold details that piqued her eyes.

Auniro's curiosity got the best of her and pulled the book off of the shelf, dusting off the dirt a bit then her eyes widened at awe to see the book cover to have a design that she has never seen before. The front cover had already amazed her since it was designed like it's from a fantasy genre she has seen before with a working clock that's protected by glass stuck to it, with the handclock indicating the time accurately. "Ohohoho... Em and Taryn is gonna like the look of this!!" She beamed and turned her heel to go try to find her two best friends to check out the book she found.

Oh little did she know that was the beginning of their adventure.

This is the revised version and retelling of the story and lore because the lore in @the-record-keepers is outdated af like I think it was made 2 years ago?? Huhu, I'll eventually make the design of the Chuangzao Book if ever art energy gives me ideas and I have to ask Mod Em for ideas too 🤡.

Do the two sets of twins in the Sun fam get along with each other?

If you're talking about Huojing and Shuijing + Mei and Tao, they get along just fine! The former are Hai's family and the latter are Fei's, but whenever there's a family gathering they get along well enough. Huojing and Shuijing enjoy the energy of their niece- and nephew-in-law. It's very refreshing and always brightens up the room.

"Neither," Jaemin finally says, though five years ago the answer would have been different. This coffee is too cold—sharply so—for 8am. "Jeno. Jisung's... boyfriend."

Chenle's eyebrows raise together with another forkful of pancake. "Huh," he says. "Not so predictable, then."

Red Son's free hand has Shuijing pushed down so she can't get to the box. Once he sees that a part of the instructions were chewed, he slowly turns to look at the cat demon with the flames beginning to spark in his eyes. "What did we say about chewing on my machine packaging?" He scoops Shuijing up under his arm and stomps over to the large cat tree he'd had set in his room, plopping her on it. "Stay! hanma's chest falls as he exhales a puff of smoke, and the palm you rest against him falls with it. his golden eyes snake over your figure, body thrown over his. your blanket barely does the job to keep you warm, as you cling onto him for warmth instead.

his fingers trace small miscellaneous drawings on your skin, making you chuckle into his side at the ticklish spots. “shu’ that tickles!” you giggle, pushing him slightly away from you.

hanma laughs with you, his chest rumbling gently. he slides a palm over the exposed skin of your arm, relishing in the feel of you next to him. hanma gives himself a moment or two, before turning over to put out his cigarette on the ashtray you have in your room. he smiles, remembering that you had purchased it just for him.

that was the first sign he was about to leave, the next being the kiss on your forehead. then, hanma speaks up: “okay angel, m’gonna go now," another kiss to your cheek, "i’ll pick you up tom—”

“don’t go yet, let me hold you for a moment.” you whine, tangling yourself further with his limbs. you press a kiss to his collarbone, eyes opening to peer up at your boyfriend, whose intense stare makes you shrivel into his side once more.

hanma laughs once more at your antics, pulling the covers up to hide both your bodies from the outside world. "whatever you want, baby ♡."
