in some sort of sick joke being played on me by my head i’ve been plagued by the sight and thought of a blue plastic shroud from a writing project i have not touched in almost a year now . which has also been plaguing my head for the entire year now with no outlet. the inspiration for the shroud is the famous ikea plastic bag
context: a man has died in the aftermath of a car accident. it is high noon and the sky is blue.
This is technically a Diana's age poll but I framed it partially around Julia's rescue because that's the event I need to contextualize and whether or not Diana is a thing yet is p important for my purposes. I would keep the Pérez run and postcrisis continuity in mind when answering this bc that's when this is relevant but I'd keep in mind that even though Diana is very young there (like early 20s) we don't know I don't think if she ages differently as a child (esp as a themysciran AND being made from clay) and in some versions she is older than she looks and was made earlier
Edit: I accidentally logic-ed this out in the tags lol 🤦♀️but feel free to still vote however you want. Going to publish this anyway bc I think I made some good points later in my tags
Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness - "Shoot the Messenger"
Episode 45 overall
Synopsis:
Po and Tigress must stop a messenger from delivering a scroll that could start an eternal war in China, but this tough goat isn't going down without a fight.
Character:
Po and Tigress got better in fighting while chained up together.
Gorilla brothers are funny.
Panda Pals are back! They showed up to give an exposition on who Kweng is and what the Kung Fu Express is. Because children love that stuff. They are pointless. They’re so useless that after the info dump only the bunny girl goes with Po and Tigress.
Kweng could explain who he is himself.
Lam is only there so we can show how Kweng doesn’t care about who he hurts as long he does his job right. And make our heroes job harder.
Besides that, it was a good episode.
Villains: Kweng is the villain of the episode. He almost killed Tigress, Po and Lam. At lest you know your messages are safe with him.
i love putting characters through hurt and im thinking right now about the "one that got away" trope, particularly in the context of the katy perry song....
katsuki sitting alone in his kitchen. it's well lit, beautiful really. everything a successful pro-hero could ever hope to have, but he can't help but think about the person he'd originally intended to share it with.
all those years ago on his shitty couch in his shitty apartment, you tucked under his arm with a glass of shitty chardonnay that sloshes every time you laugh with your belly. fantasizing about having the type of open living room that would let you see into the kitchen. about an archway with crown-molding, peering into a warmly lit kitchen. no more renting. talking with you about the type of furniture you'd fill the space with. warm dark wood, an antique dining table, bookshelves and not needing to worry about just how much space they take up.
he can't help but think about how he'd decorated it the way you'd talked about. it was unconsciously done, of course and he only really notices it on late nights like these. when he's alone with a cup of steaming tea and takes a moment to remember where he is. katsuki can't help but feel that you'd like the way he decorated his house. like somehow, on some level, he'd done it for you.
of course, that was years ago. 10 maybe? yeah, 10 sounds right. it may be longer, but if it is, katsuki doesn't really want to think about it. just more wasted time.
he tries to be positive about it, about his good standing in life. fame, wealth, power even. he tries to be grateful for the blessings, for the job he loves, the home he finds beautiful, the friends who pulled him out when you left. katsuki tries to move on, to continue forward. but nights like these make the wound fresh. they cut him open a little bit.
it could have been really good, he thinks. if he'd been a little smarter or a little wiser. if he'd ponied up his courage to... be more. pride's a bitch though and it really only leaves you when what matters most already has. but it could have been good. this house could have been good. you could have sat with him, worried about him. he could have taken care of you.
there have been other people. katsuki has tried, he really has. but he's still a bit too stubborn. it only gets worse with age. everyone has a little bit of you in them. something that reminds him of the way things could have been. snippets of someone too far away to reach. yeah, they all have a little bit of you, but they're not you. that's where katuski thinks he's gone wrong.
he has people that never really leave him. that's just who he is. you're one of them, he supposes. in another life, you wouldn't be the one that got away. he'd look in the mirror at his premature gray hairs and instead of being alone, you'd come up next to him and tell him that you've always liked a silver fox. yeah, that sounds about right, like something you would say.
you're probably married now. katsuki can't really bring himself to check, doesn't really want to. no point in mulling it over, he thinks. his tea's getting cold.
Ulysses obsession with the Courier is a special type of sad to me cause the Courier’s part was so important but so unwitting. They had no idea what was in the package they delivered and neither did he. Neither had an idea of what it could’ve done and the Courier was only caring out their job (mind you the Courier could be killed via notes in the express contract if they don’t). To them it was just another regular delivery to the divide and one that they likely thought would help, just like all the ones before.
It’s so tragic for Ulysses to hold so much ire to the Courier when it really was the case of it could’ve been anyone. Anyone could have delivered that package but they did and so he focused the blame on them and it destroys what he is trying to instill in the courier on a fundamental level.
Despite how it might seem, being a messenger for the feared sea-demon pirate, Admiral Satrasi, infamous far and wide for having an entire fleet of raiding vessels who answer to him alone, is a relatively safe job. After all, no one knowingly crosses the Admiral. Right?
The most recent captain looking to join his fleet hasn’t gotten that bulletin yet.
He's going to find exactly what happens when someone interferes with the Admiral's favorite messenger.

There are two versions of the Japanese name "Yuri" and I wrote a short guide how to distinguish them:
The female Yuri (百合) translates as "lily". It's a fairly common name in Japan. In Japan, white lilies haven been symbolising the beauty and purity in women for centuries, and because of this it eventually became the term to describe sapphic fiction, especially in manga and anime.
The male 勇利 is fairly different in meaning and writing. The first kanji 利 ("yuu") translates as courage, the second one 利 ("ri") as advantage--attributes that traditionally haven been associated with men and match Yuuri's personality nicely. Likewise, many female names are derived from terms that describe beauty, gentleness, and other traditional "female" virtues, and not only in Japanese culture but also other cultures (thanks for nothing, patriarchy).
Yes, you read that right: the creators didn't give Yuuri a woman's name.
The pronunciation for each name is different as well. Whereas 百合 has a short first vowel, the first vowel in 勇利 is drawn out. This becomes obvious when both names are written in hiragana:
百合 -> ゆり (yu-ri)
勇利 -> ゆうり(yu-u-ri)
That's why "Yuuri" has established itself as the preferred spelling of our beloved katsudon's name in the fandom. (Another valid spelling would be Yūri.)
In katakana, these names are:
ユリ
ユーリ
The second one looks familiar, right?
To sum this up, we have
勇利 ≠ 百合
and in romaji:
Yuuri ≠ Yuri
With this in mind, watching the show with English subs becomes a bit jarring, especially as you can hear the characters drawing out the first vowel in "Yuuri".
There are a few more combinations of kanji forming both names, with different meanings. If you're interested in that, you can look them up on Wikipedia.
Bonus: What about Yurio's given name?
The Russian (male) name Yuri (Юрий) derives from the Old Greek Georgios (Γεώργιος), which means farmer, or literally, "he who works the earth". Yuri and its variants are popular in Slavic countries, while in Western Europe and English-speaking countries worldwide Georg/George is more common.
So, yeah, we have three different "Yuris" with different meanings and spellings.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk! Hope this helps!
