Xiao:
Arguments with Xiao were far from uncommon. Even before you were dating him, you knew that he just couldn’t always see things the same way you did.
You were a skilled fighter and a vision holder and you often went out fighting and protecting Liyue yourself, but that didn’t mean you never needed help.
Besides, Xiao had always made it clear that if you ever needed his help to call out for him. Yet, the argument you had with him proved otherwise.
One day, after rescuing you from some overly dangerous monsters, he had brought you back to the Wangshu Inn and ended up scolding you, which later resulted in an argument.
He said you were relying on him way too much. That you could understand, but he had also called you weak and annoyingly over dependent. The minute you had started crying, he fled your shared room and left you alone.
When Xiao had come back that night, you tried your hardest to seem normal around him. You didn’t want him to think you were being dependent anymore, but it’s not like it mattered anyway. The second you tried to talk to him, he walked right past you and went to bed.
You’d hoped that maybe he was just tired and didn’t want to talk, but you were far from right.
When you had woken up the next morning, Xiao wasn’t there. Normally, he’d have breakfast with you, even though he didn’t really like human food, he’d tolerate it for you. But when you walked out, he was gone. No note or anything.
You sighed and ate by yourself, but chose not to mope around. If Xiao thought you were weak, you were going to show him you weren’t.
So after eating, you got all your gear and headed out to the mountains of Liyue in search of some monsters. It took awhile, but you eventually found some pretty difficult ones: several mitachurls, some abyss mages, lots of hilichurls, and even some really big geovishaps.
You jumped down and got to fighting. It was a bit difficult, you could admit that, but it wasn’t hard enough that you hurt yourself. Once you got done, you looked down at all of them, feeling rather accomplished.
“Xiao!” you called out.
No answer.
Your shoulders slumped and a dejected frown formed on your face. It was useless and you were right, he wasn’t going to talk to you. He wouldn’t even listen when you called out his name.
You knew he was mad, but you didn’t think he was that mad.
When you got home that night, you found Xiao already home and cleaning up his wounds. You reached your hand out to tap his shoulder, but quickly retreated. There was no point, he would just shrug you off anyway.
Maybe some dinner would get him to talk? You thought.
You sighed, hoping it would work. You were even going to make his favorite, almond tofu.
An hour later when you had finally finished cooking, you called for him to come eat dinner. There was no reply, though. So you called for him again, a little more hesitant this time.
You frowned and grabbed the plate, walking to the door to your shared bedroom, “Xiao?”
When you walked in, he was sitting on the bed, wrapping his arm in a light layer of bandages, “Xiao? What happened?”
No response.
Your eyes dropped to the plate in your hands and you hesitated before speaking again, “I know you don’t really want to talk to me or even look at me right now…but will you at least just eat this food I made you? It’s your favorite.”
You set the plate next to him and he turned to face it, not sparing you a glance. He looked at it for a few more seconds before pushing it far away from him and back toward you.
The slight hope you felt that he might consider eating it quickly crumbled at the sight of him pushing it away. He nearly looked repulsed.
“I’m sorry,” you mumbled, disappointed.
The next morning, you decided to not get your hopes up and to just leave Xiao alone. You didn’t know how much longer he was going to continue acting the way he was, but you knew he would give it up at some point.
For hours that day, you fought several monsters and cleared out many of their camps. You were exhausted, but you needed to clear your mind of the argument, and fighting was the only thing helping.
You glanced up at the sky, noticing its darkening colors before looking to your last camp of monsters. Your eyes felt heavy and your chest was heaving from being out of breath, but you knew you had to keep going. Besides, it was your last camp so it wouldn’t be that much extra work.
You cleared them with ease and were packing up some stolen goods you had found to return to the guild later when you suddenly were pushed to the floor.
A sharp stabbing pain entered your side as you were being tossed around on the ground. You couldn’t see anything, but you knew you were being attacked by monsters.
When you were finally able to get back up on your feet, you rushed to kill whatever was attacking you. But more and more just kept coming.
Strike after strike, they just kept coming. Not even your vision could help you at this point.
You screamed out in pain as more sharp pain entered your side. Slashes covered your face and arms and although you didn’t want to, you called for him.
“Xiao!” You screamed out.
No answer.
C’mon, please! I need you…
Tears formed in your eyes as you crumbled to the ground, you weren’t ready for your life to be over. You didn’t even get to make up with Xiao.
But you couldn’t take anymore fighting. There was just too many monsters, too many for a human to handle.
You shut your eyes and curled into a ball, and with your last bit of energy, you tried again, “Xiao, please…”
A green flash was all you saw before something slammed into your head, knocking you out cold.
When you woke up, you felt rather disoriented and confused. You were shocked to see you were even still alive. You moved to sit up, still confused as to where you were, but were quickly pushed back down.
“Don’t move,” a rough voice spoke, “You’ll hurt yourself.”
You turned toward the voice, shuddering at the brightness of the room, “…Xiao? Where are we?”
“The Wangshu Inn, I brought you back here last night after you called for me.”
Your face suddenly felt hot and your eyes filled with tears at the realization. Xiao’s face contorted into one of confusion at your tears, if anything, he felt should be the one crying.
“Are you in pain? What’s wrong?” He spoke, alarm evident in his voice as he gently placed an arm on your shoulder.
“Nothing…I just,” you paused to breath, “You were ignoring me and I thought you weren’t going to show up. I thought I was going to die, and I only proved your point. You were right, I’m weak and I depend on you too much. Archons, I’m so sorry you had to save me again-”
You were cut off by his lips on yours. Xiao wasn’t normally so bold, but he didn’t know how else to shut you up.
When he retreated, he gently wiped off the hot tears on your face, “You do not have any reason to be sorry. I am at fault for saying you need to stop depending on me. You are my s/o, and it’s my job to protect you too. So…I apologize.”
The room was silent for a few moments before you began giggling to yourself.
“Why are you laughing? Did I say something wrong?”
You wiped your face as you calmed down, “No, no! It’s just, I’ve never seen you be so..gentle and sincere before. It’s kinda funny.”
“I am not gentl- stop laughing. I don’t see what’s so funny.” he crossed his arms with a frown.
“Calm down, Xiao, I accept your apology and…it is a little funny,” you smiled.
Xiao wanted to tell you off again, scold you for calling him gentle or soft, but he just couldn’t. Not when you looked so happy. The guilt that filled his heart before washed over him once more, he couldn’t stand to ever ignore you again.
You and your smile were worth far too much to him to ever be so childish again.

Heizou:
When Heizou and you began dating, you were sure you guys would get into arguments all the time.
Shockingly enough, you didn’t. In fact, arguments between you and him were quite rare. Heizou is a pretty easy going guy, so it wasn’t often there was major conflict between the two of you.
Usually it was just something stupid or funny like who was going to have to cook dinner or do the laundry.
The only problem was, when you did seriously argue, it got bad. They were usually pretty intense and got bitter very quick, often resulting in you guys saying untrue and overly mean things to each other.
The argument you had last night was one of those - the bitter and intense ones. You had brought up the fact that you didn’t like how flirty he was with other people, despite being with you. But he was in a bad mood from work and quickly lashed out on you.
He was quick to call you insecure, jealous, and stupid for overthinking. He even had the nerve to scoff when you started crying before leaving to go to bed for the night without resolving the issue.
The following day, you weren’t really sure what to do with yourself. You wanted to talk to Heizou, apologize and fix what happened, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to do it. Besides, you weren’t so sure he was eager to fix anything himself either, especially seeing as he had already left for work without so much as a kiss goodbye or mentioning he was going to leave.
For a long time, you had known Heizou to be the type of guy to just let things boil until they nearly spilled over, but it scared you to see the way he was going to handle this. He never really stayed mad for too long, so it was odd to see him blatantly ignore and avoid you that morning.
Apologies or not, you couldn’t mope around all day, anyway. You still had a job in the main city and couldn’t just stay home because you were upset.
You worked at Uyuu Restaurant, and though you loved your job, it was always dull on the days that there was hardly anyone dining there. You sighed as you glanced at the clock hanging on the wall, your head resting on your propped up arm — just a few more hours and then you could have your lunch break.
When your lunch break finally did come, you became a bit nervous. Usually your detective boyfriend would come and bring you lunch and you guys would have lunch together outside the restaurant, but he never showed today.
You weren’t sure you even wanted to see him, but was he seriously not even going to bring you food? Sure, you could eat at the restaurant since you worked there, but you were tired of their food since you ate so much of it when you first began working there.
Heizou also mentioned once that he preferred you eat home cooked food opposed to restaurant food all the time. But really you knew it was just an excuse to have lunch you everyday on your break, not like you minded though.
Your eyes snapped to the clock once more, only 15 minutes left and your break was over. Your shoulders dropped in disappointment. Heizou wasn’t going to show.
You almost felt like you had just been stood up on a date. Even the way the owner and your boss glanced at you with sad eyes made it feel like that. But you ignored it and kept your head down as you untied your apron and left.
You preferred Heizou’s cooked food a million more times over anything purchased from a restaurant or food stand, but you had no choice today. You wandered around the main street for a bit before settling on a small food stand and picking up a quick lunch.
As you walked off with your food, you thought about maybe eating outside where you and your boyfriend normally ate, but decided against it. You didn’t really want to be reminded of him right now.
For now, you would just have to eat quickly and get back to your boring old work for the day.
When your shift ended, you felt so relieved. Today was so incredibly boring you nearly wanted to scream in the restaurant or go outside and beg people to eat there so you would have something, anything to do.
You said your goodbyes and goodnights to the owner and the other staff as you walked out of the empty restaurant. All you wanted was a warm delicious meal and a nice bath. Maybe you could even cuddle with Heizou for a bit-
Oh yeah..Heizou…the argument. You had completely forgotten all about it.
You felt your mood drop at the reminder of it all. Your eyes remained on the ground as you continued walking, the argument from last night replaying a million times throughout your mind.
“Wow, Mio, you really made all of these yourself? You are so talented, you should tell me more sometime.”
Your eyes snapped up at the voice and you felt your feet stop walking, it was as though you were frozen in place.
“Oh, Mr. Shikanoin, you are too kind,” Mio blushed.
“How could I not be when I’m talking to someone so pretty?” he said smoothly, you even heard Mio giggle, “Tell you what, you give me some information on a certain customer and…”
Your boyfriend’s words were suddenly drowned out and you felt dizzy. You tell him you hate the way he flirts with other people, he lashes out on you and ignores you, and then you find him flirting with someone else..again?
How were you supposed to listen to that?
“Um..Mr. Shikanoin, I apologize, but is that someone you know?” Mio asked warily.
He turned over in the direction she pointed at, his flirtatious smile falling off his face at the sight of you standing just a mere five feet away with tears flowing down your face.
“…Y/n?”
You opened your mouth to speak, but couldn’t, “Forget it.”
“Hey! Y/n wait, come back!” he shouted as he ran after you.
You were quick, but he eventually caught up to you. Grabbing your wrist gently, he turned you around to face him, but you shrugged him off.
“Leave me alone, Heizou. I don’t want to talk to you right now.”
“Okay, but I want to talk to you..” he gently spoke.
“Really? Now you want to speak to me?!” you faced him, tears continuing to stream down your now flushed face, “You ignore me all day and now that I don’t want to talk to you, you stop? That’s not fair, you made me feel like shit last night for expressing my concerns and then I find you flirting with someone else again!”
“It’s not what you think-”
“I don’t care what it is, okay?” you stuttered out, “Just…leave me alone.”
You turned to walk away from him and to your shared house. You reached up a hand to cover your mouth to contain your sobs, but it was no use, they escaped anyway.
Two arms quickly made their way around your waist, pulling you flush against his body. Even though you didn’t want to, you melted into him, sobs muffled by your head against Heizou’s chest.
“Shhhh…it’s okay,” Heizou cooed, “I know you don’t want to see me right now, but I’m sorry. I didn’t mean what I said last night, okay? I was just in a bad mood, but that doesn’t make it okay for me to say things like that.”
Heizou moved to sit you guys down on a nearby bench under a tree before continuing, “I’m sorry for not listening to you and ignoring you like that. And I’m sorry for going off and flirting with Ogura Mio, even though it was part of an investigation. I should’ve listened to you and respected your wishes, so I’ll stop flirting with other people. I just want you to know that I never meant any of it, I only ever did it to find out information for cases.”
You wiped your eyes as you leaned on his shoulder, staring out at the city, “You’re going to have to make it up to me, you know?”
“Seriously? I just give you that heart-felt apology and your already demanding stuff from me?” he joked, and you half-heartedly laughed.
“Yep, you owe me. I want cuddles every night and you’re cooking for me everyday, all three meals for the next month,” you smirked, “Until then, I don’t forgive you.”
Heizou jokingly rolled his eyes before smiling down at you, “Fine, fine! C’mon, let’s go home.”

༄ anemo boys voicelines about you! 𖧷
☁︎ written as of version 3.3
characters: kazuha, heizou, xiao, venti + (scaramouche + wanderer)
disclaimer: some of them might have been hinted and/or written romantically, but it can be read as platonic as well.
warnings: use of (y/n) (your name) and (n/n) (nick name). reader/(y/n) is implied to live in liyue (kazuha's one). for scaramouche's one i decided to put 2 voicelines: one for the petty scara and one for the teapot wanderer bc they're literally 2 personalities + wanderer might be a little ooc because i don't really know his nice personality
☁︎
kazuha
"oh, you want to know about my relationship with (y/n)? well, i dare say that we are close ─ at least that's what i'd like to think. most of the time they would wait for me to arrive back at liyue right at the docks, waving their hands high up in the air, making sure that i would see them. other times they would accompany me on the crux, gazing upon the ripples in the water, and allerting me for any hindrances up ahead. when they have trouble sleeping during the night, i like to blow the leaf for them, hoping that it could help them calm down. they usually fall asleep after that, so i'm happy that─ ...a-ah? why are you laughing..? did i say something funny..?"
heizou
"hm? (y/n)? oh, you mean (n/n)! of course i know them! ...well, everyone does, actually. you'd be missing out if you didn't. they're one of the reasons why there aren't as many papers on my floor as you'd think i'd have, given how many cases i've been taking up recently. (n/n) would always come by once in a while to check up on me and make sure i'm doing alright. to be honest, hearing their footsteps approaching every time is more than enough to make my mood light up! ...heh, i should invite them to crack a case with me some time, then maybe i won't need to clean so many coffee-stained-cups in the morning..."
xiao
"...you speak of (y/n)? ...yes, i know them. ...i am quite fond of them, actually. they've called my name many times for useless and... unspeakable things, but they are more tolerable than most mortals. occasionally, they would call my name and greet me by the balcony with a plate full of almond tofu in their hands and a joyous look on their face. it is a nuisance, but the almond tofu is always surprisingly nice, so i forgive them. when they do call my name for a serious reason, it is to fight but a mere hilichurl. tch. (y/n) is weak. very weak. so as a yaksha, it is my duty to protect them. ...what? why are you looking at me like that?"
venti
"ohoho~ did i hear the name (y/n)?~ ah, it sure brings me joy whenever they do come by mondstadt, i never need to keep my wine taxes waiting! a-ah, but of course that's not the only reason i'm happy to see them..! whenever i- ahem... 𝘸𝘦 are not going for a drink, i like to teach them how to play the lyre ─ they catch on pretty fast! sometimes, they would play the lyre and i would sing to them, and as a reward for that, i take them to the tavern and invite them for a glass of wine! ...(y/n) usually pays for it though. *sigh.* one day, i want to actually treat them. b-but not today though! i don't have enough yet..."
scaramouche
"...(y/n)? what do you want to know about (y/n)? and anyway, if you're asking to know about them, then go ask them, not me. ...w-what? you want to know what i think of them? hh-hah! how would knowing what i think of them benefit you? go dig your nose up somewhere else where it doesn't involve me, or (y/n). ...what? i-i'm not embarrassed?! w-why in the world would i be embarrassed?! ..me having feelings for (y/n)? hah! you should be ashamed of yourself for asking such a question to me! you should be on your knees asking for mercy and forgiveness!"
wanderer
"...(y/n)? if you want to know more about them, then i suggest you ask (y/n) themselves, i don't want to give the wrong information about them to you, or to anyone. plus, maybe some things i know about them are private and i don't know about it, and i could accidentally share it with you. ..oh but i'm not saying that i don't trust you, but it's privacy, isn't it? ...oh, you want to know what i think of them. why didn't you say so earlier... ahem, their company is... comfortable. the only thing that i hate about them is how much i don't hate their company. they won't be here forever, so i cannot grow too attached to them, but no matter how hard i try to stray away from them... *sigh.* i just can't help but keep them beside me.

office s3x with heizou
cws: gn!reader, semi-public sex, unprotected, bondage (belt), riding, teasing, hair pulling, begging, edging, cockwarming
how did you get in this position again? yeah, that's right. you were visiting heizou at his office, knowing that he probably procrastinated some paper work and had to get them done until tomorrow to avoid pissing off kujou sara. it was getting late though so you decided to help him out then get him home.
however things did not go as you planned.
it started when heizou offered you his lap to keep him company until he finished the work. you were supposed to help him but the paper work was unbelievably boring. a devious idea in your head started all of this.
you wiggled your hips on heizou's lap as if you were readjusting yourself, deliberately grinding your ass to his groin but he already knows what you're doing. instead of pointing out immediately, he let you have your fun first, letting you think that you were succesful at your tease.
until he pulled you backwards by your hair, letting his warm breath graze your ear as he whispered
"you think you're so smart, don't you?"
and that's how you ended up in heizou's lap, his cock ramming into your hole as he grips your waist, aiding you as he thrusts up whenever you descend on his cock, your ass smacking his thighs.
heizou is without a doubt a tease but that doesn't mean he'll let you mess with him all the time, that's his job after all!
even though it's night and majority of the people have left, there are still multiple guards outside and the thought of them hearing you cry out heizou's name over and over both arouses and worries you at the same time.
heizou doesn't seem to care at all, a smirk on his face as he watches you struggle on his cock. your thighs shaky from mercilessly impaling yourself on his dick, despite the exhaustion in your legs you keep on riding him.
heizou stops all movement in his body, his hands only holding you, not helping you bounce on his cock anymore. he watches you with a shit eating grin on his face, clearly amused by your struggle.
you look down at your boyfriend and frown, his smirk widening at your annoyance. to be even more of a little shit, heizou removes his hands from your hips and crosses his arms.
"he-heizou...help me out a little."
you murmur, trying to catch your breath and continue riding him but your incoming orgasm is fading away, only irritating you more. the worst part is that your hands are tied behind your back with heizou's belt, you're not even able to use your hands for leverage.
"i don't know about that baby, you seemed so eager. what happened to all that energy now?"
the fact that his voice is too even for someone balls deep inside of you and he's mocking you frusturates you. he knows what he's doing and you know what he wants you to do.
you also know that he won't budge if you don't beg.
swallowing all of your pride and irritation, you wiggle your hips a little, circling them and give heizou the puppy dog eyes with a burning face.
"p-please heizou...make me cum. i won't tease again just please make me cum."
heizou only gives you a look that lets you know that you convinced him, after all he wants to cum too, wants to paint your insides and fill you up.
finally heizou grabs your waist with both hands, his nails forming crescent marks on your skin as he lifts you up then drops your whole weight on his cock.
he repeats the motion so quickly repeadetly, not even putting that much effort which turns you on even more. you helplessly moan as he pounds into you, the urge to wrap your arms around his neck is prevented by the restraints around your wrist.
heizou leans in as deliberately groans right into your ear, feeling your walls tighten around him. oh how much he loves how irresistable you are when you're at his mercy, it makes him want to ruin you.
and that's exactly what you want.
your orgasm hits you hard as you cum all over his lap, making a mess on his clothes. your spasming hole and loud whines of his name triggers heizou's own orgasm, he buries himself as deep as he can when he cums, shooting white ropes of his cum.
the warmth inside you makes you whimper, finally getting the relief you so desperately wanted as his cum drips down your hole. heizou carefully undoes your restraints, letting you wrap your arms around his neck and rest a little.
heizou chukles softly, returning your embrace as he buries his face in your neck, your scent flooding his nostrils. however this intimate moment is ruined by a thought that seems to occur in both of your heads as heizou pulls away to look you.
the thought being that you'll have to clean up this mess.

"You want me to do what?"
You stared at the detective in front of you incredulously, shock and doubt written all over your features after his request. Shikanoin Heizou was easily Inazuma's best detective and his reputation preceded him far and wide, which is exactly why he often got away with peculiar ideas to solve cases. This particular idea, however, caught you by surprise like none ever did before.
"You heard me, Y/N," the cherry-haired male spoke, seemingly unaffected by the weight of his request. "I asked you to fake date me."
"I–" you brought out, sucking in a breath through your teeth. "Please explain how in Celestia's name this will benefit your investigation?"
Heizou had asked you to follow him towards one of the quiet corners of the Tenryou Commission's headquarters – which happened quite often, since he regularly shared confidential information with you, his loyal sidekick. You didn't think anything of it, expecting it to be simply another breakthrough that he wanted to inform you about. Never in your wildest dreams did you ever think that he would ask you to fake date him, yet here he was. This guy never failed to surprise you, huh?
"I'm sorry, I can't really tell you," he said earnestly. "It's a pretty fragile case and I was told not to share any intel, not even with you."
"You make it pretty easy for me to say no," you remarked skeptically.
Maybe you were making a big deal out of nothing, but this entire fake dating ordeal was quite a thing for you. You didn't mind helping him out at all, but this stunt topped all the previous ones with ease when it came to bizarreness. Especially now that he refused to give you a valid reason – though he seemed to have a good reason for that. Your thoughts were a whirlwind; what were you supposed to say? You were opposed to the idea, but at the same time you kind of weren't.
"I promise I'll tell you more as soon as I can," the male said solemnly, his eyes searching yours. He would never beg you for anything, you knew that, but you could see in his green eyes how important this matter was to him.
You sighed, not finding it in you to decline his request.
"When do we start and how long do we have to pretend?" you questioned, a strange feeling settling in the pit of your stomach now that you agreed.
Relief washed over Heizou's expression in the form of a smile. He seemed grateful, and you found that your agreement didn't bring forth any form of stress within you. You would do a lot for him; you were his sidekick after all, it was your job to help him whenever you could.
"Now," the detective simply replied. "Preferably until the case I'm working on is solved. Do you… do you mind?"
He looked at you carefully, scanning your face for any traces of dismay. Most likely, he would find a lot, but that was simply because you were still getting used to the idea of fake dating your detective companion.
"No, I'm just surprised," you admitted.
"I get that," Heizou nodded, a sheepish smile crossing his face. "Sorry for asking so out of the blue."
"It's fine," you reassured him, though the swarm of butterflies in your stomach still hadn't calmed down. "Just tell me what's the purpose of this as soon as you can, okay?"
"I can do that," the male said. "Thank you so much, Y/N. You are the best sidekick a detective can possibly ask for."
He ruffled your hair, and you couldn't help the wide grin that fell on your lips. It was there, almost giddy. You were happy to be his right hand – and now you were suddenly pretending to be his significant other as well. Of course you were curious to see how the latter would turn out, but time would tell, you guessed.
                                ✧  ✧  ✧
Word spread around the city fast, or so it seemed. The prodigy detective of the Tenryou Commission and his sidekick getting together; what a news that was. After setting up some rules, you went out in the open, and it was a whole happening. A lot of looks were cast in your direction whenever you made your way through the streets with your hands linked. It managed to fluster you every time, being seen with him like that. On the other hand, it seemed to fluster Heizou just as much, which offered you some sort of consolation. As confident as he appeared while making this request, he finally started to show that he wasn't entirely unaffected.
One of the first things you noticed after the entire fake dating situation started, was the way your hand fit in his perfectly, and how natural it felt to sway your connected hands back and forth on the cadence of your footsteps.
It was almost unfair that it was merely for the sake of pretending. And for what? Even a week after it all started he still didn't share the smallest detail about the case he was on, but you remained patient and didn't pry. He promised you he would talk about it as soon as he was able to, so you would wait for him to do so.
But you were curious.
Curious about what he was looking for when he glanced around discreetly every time you walked around with your hands connected. Curious about who or what this was all about. You had no clue, and you just blindly followed the detective's lead.
"Tomorrow there's a conference regarding this case in the Tenryou Commission's headquarters," Heizou commented, playing with your fingers. You were on a so-called date in town, which basically meant being out in the open to intentionally make it as obvious as possible that you two were a thing.
Your hand was in his snugly but you could hardly comprehend it: your mind was still a fuzzy mess after he insisted on feeding you spoonfuls of his dessert.
"And?" you asked, peering at his face. Honestly, you would have cursed the blush that was present on your face if he wasn't just as flustered as you were.
To others, it probably looked like you genuinely were a fresh couple that was madly in love, still getting used to acting lovey-dovey around each other. No one would ever suspect that it was as far from the truth as possible. The only reason behind your shared blush was because it was hella awkward to play pretend, to hold hands and act like a couple would with your trusted companion.
"I asked if I could take you with me, but they said it's still better if as few people as possible know about the case," the detective muttered. "I'm sorry, Y/N, I tried but still can't tell you anything about what's going on."
The pads of his fingers ghosted over your knuckles as he gazed at your hand absentmindedly, and his tentative touch left a trail of sparks on your skin. Why did it all feel so normal? Were you simply getting used to the whole ordeal, or was there something else?
"It's okay," you told him, flashing him a smile that hopefully mimicked the way someone would smile at their precious lover.
Heizou gazed up, and when his green eyes caught your smile, they widened before he quickly averted his gaze again, the blush on his cheeks deepening. Archons, it was so awkward, and the detective opposite of you genuinely looked like he was struggling. Maybe your smile had been a little too convincing, you thought. After all, the flurry of butterflies in your stomach made it all too easy to present to him such a smile.
"Y/N," the male called, and your connected hands remained on the table you were seated around. He paused, and seconds went by without him continuing.
     "Yeah?" you urged gently.
But he shook his head, his cherry hair bouncing cutely, and muttered a quiet nevermind. It made you wonder, what had he wanted to tell you?
There was a certain tension building in the air around you, and you failed to figure out what exactly was causing it. Oh, if only this intense uneasiness would cease once this entire fake dating thing was over. It would greatly stand in the way of all the upcoming cases you would have to solve in the future.
Heizou heaved out a sigh, bringing your hand to his lips and pressing a kiss against your knuckles. Your heart did somersaults in your chest when he rounded the table to help you up.
"It's getting late, let's get you home, yeah?" he spoke, offering you a meek smile.
Your walk was silent, and boy was it awkward. Even now, when you were pretending for a week already, people – acquaintances as well as strangers – still offered you their congratulations as you walked home hand-in-hand, and you answered them all with a sweet smile and a restless feeling in the pit of your stomach. Heizou did the same, giving your hand a gentle squeeze after every little act you skillfully put up.
He showered you with sweet gestures and it seemed to come so easily. Did he do all of this before? Had he ever used someone else to fake date him for the sake of a case? Merely the thought brought an iron fist to clasp around your heart.
As soon as you got home, Heizou gazed at the shadows in a bystreet, his eyes lingering there a little too long. You too stared in that direction, but failed to find anything out of the ordinary.
"Y/N," he brought out, his tone strangely quiet yet agitated. "Can I… Can I kiss you before you go in?"
He whispered but you heard him so clearly. Your poor heart stilled for a moment before it set a drum beat rhythm in your chest as you stared at him blankly. Did he just…? You weren't believing your ears. What about the rules you made? No pet names, no unnecessary gestures, and no kissing?
"W-Wy?" you stuttered, not missing the way he glanced at the alley once more. "Is something there?"
"Yes," Heizou replied, nervousness written in his eyes when he regarded you again. "I'm sorry, you don't–"
You were undeniably being used, you realized. But why wasn't there a no falling off your lips instantly? Why were you seriously considering a yes when your eyes darted to his lips for a split second? You felt warm, and not all that opposed to the idea. Surely it was simply out of loyalty, right?
"O-Okay," you cut him off. You pursed your lips. "Do it quickly before I change my mind and don't make it awkward."
You closed your eyes, and you heard a soft okay before a pair of warm lips touched yours. You were screaming on the inside, your heart pounding madly and your thoughts racing. It lasted for but a second before he pulled back and offered you a strained smile, but it had your head spinning.
Saying goodbye was surprisingly easy, seeing how you fled inside and left him on the doorstep. You fell against the front door, your fingers coming up to touch your lips softly. You mentally cursed.
Your very first kiss, taken merely for the sake of a case you knew absolutely nothing about. But then you saw Heizou's face in your mind, and you found yourself not minding all that much anymore.
Why?
                                     ✧  ✧  ✧
It was getting easier to pretend – or should you say, it was getting easier to act upon the whirlwind of butterflies that rumbled in your stomach? You had found it in you to return his gestures in public without freaking out on the inside. It was as if that kiss awoke something in you, and you had gotten bolder. Now it was you who took his hand more often, who clung to his side with a broad smile (and relished in the way the detective smiled back), who called him cute names with so much ease. You even planted a careful kiss on his cheek once when he seemed to spot something in his surroundings, and you were once again surprised how natural it felt.
Was it really out of loyalty? Or was there something else going on, something more?
You put a lot of thought into it, and with a shock you had realized; you were into it too much, and it came to a point where it was starting to bother you that it was only for the sake of pretending.
It felt so nice to be surrounded by him and his loving gestures, just as much as it felt good to reciprocate them. Your hand felt perfect in his, his hugs felt truly amazing, the words he spoke so nicely made you swell in happiness. It all made you aware of something big.
You started to see him differently.
Maybe the whole ordeal caused you to grow feelings for the detective – it would explain so damn much.
But with it also came the realization that for him, it was still a game of play pretend, all for some unknown benefit to a case he was on. It was painful, to say the least, but with gritted teeth you carried on.
For Heizou.
However, you weren't stupid. You also saw the changes in the detective. You were good at reading people, and you saw it in your companion. He was relaxing more, his lovey smile seemed genuine and so did his gestures. Plus, everything appeared to be extending to a point unnecessary for your public image of lovers. He lingered around you longer, asked if he could come inside after dropping you off after another fake date, your conversations grew more personal, and the tension between you eased.
And come on, if it was merely for the sake of pretending he would let go of your hand as soon as you entered his office in the Tenryou Commission's headquarters, right? No one was around to see you there, so dropping the act was completely fine but he seemingly refused to do so – and you did not mind in the slightest.
What exactly was happening between you two?
"You're quiet," Heizou remarked as the two of you walked around Inazuma City, slowly straying away from the busy streets and wandering towards the park.
"Just thinking," you muttered dismissively, which was nothing but the truth.
"You're lost in thought often these days," the male pointed out. Of course he noticed. As a keen detective, absolutely nothing went by unnoticed by him.
Petals of the tall Sakura trees fluttered down gently, drifting over the surface of the stream that meandered through the greenfields of the park just outside of the big city. The scenery was wonderful, but you couldn't really focus on anything besides your hand in his.
The fake dating thing has been going on for a couple of weeks now and everything was bothering you. You still had no idea why he started the whole thing, for Heizou refused to open up about it. For you it was a game no longer, and all your actions towards the cherry-haired male had grown sincere.
"Yeah," you simply replied, trying to pry your hand free from his grip. "There's no one here, you can let go of my hand now."
But his grip didn't loosen; if anything, he held your hand a little tighter.
"I don't mind," he briskly remarked.
"Oh," you uttered, cursing yourself for outing such an intelligent reply. But inside you were happy; he didn't want to let go of your hand!
Your walk continued in silence, and you were about to ask the male why he brought you to such a deserted place if there was no one around to see your act. Before you could speak up, the male gently brought you to a halt and his voice rang through the quiet park softly.
"Y/N, we have to talk," he said earnestly.
It was as if the weight of a stone dropped in the pit of your stomach as anxiety stirred within you. The look in his green eyes gave nothing away, and you could only wait nervously for what the detective wanted to say.
     "I think we should stop."
Those were the words he spoke, and they felt to you as if lightning struck the sky. Stop pretending? Is that what he meant to say? Even though the entire situation bothered you, the idea of quitting left you with a bitter taste in your mouth.
"Stop fake dating?" you meekly asked, trying not to show how much it affected you to begin with. You didn't want to make things awkward, so you truly did your best to hide the pain from your features.
     "Yeah," Heizou confirmed.
"Is the case solved?" you questioned. That must be it, right?
"Quite the opposite, we haven't even had our first breakthrough yet," the male admitted, his expression troubled. "I just can't do it anymore."
You wanted to shake your hand free from his – that's what he wanted, right? You probably read all the hints completely wrong and you were a fool. Disappointment coursed through your entire being.
"That's okay, we can stop," you reassured him, the crack in your voice giving away your inner struggles.
The detective still refused to let go of your hand, stubbornly keeping his fingers folded over your knuckles to prevent you from escaping.
"Don't get me wrong, Y/N," he lightly scolded you. "You're jumping to conclusions ahead of time."
His free hand flicked your forehead gently, and a smile of mild amusement rested upon his lips.
"I want to make it official."
It was a bomb so heavy, it made the entire zoo in your stomach explode and go berserk. Your mouth fell open as you gaped at him – was he for real? Was Shikanoin Heizou asking you out? The detective you spent so much time with liked you? It made no sense to you, yet at the same time everything seemed to fall into place. Why his sweet gestures always dragged on while they didn't matter for the public anymore, why his act seemed less of an act and more like something genuine as the weeks went by, why it became so much easier to be around each other in a way that only grew between you recently. Heizou liked you.
And you liked him back.
"I would love to," you replied, smiling warmly at the male. "The whole fake dating situation was becoming a pain."
"I know," the detective smiled back. "That's why we needed it to stop and make it something real."
You were ecstatic. Maybe this was what you've been hoping for all along without being aware of it at all until recently. Not even maybe, you were sure of it. Pretending to be with Heizou only hurt because you wanted it to be real, and it seemed like he wished for that just as much as you did.
"Bonus point, it will still benefit the case," the male teased, and you let out a huff.
"Shut up, I don't wanna hear about that case anymore," you pouted, and Heizou let out a laugh.
But then he turned serious, his hand finally letting go of your before reaching up to gently cup your cheeks with his soft hands. His green eyes gazed into yours wordlessly, a smile so ginger resting on his features.
"I've been dying to do this again ever since that one night," he sincerely told you, eyes flickering to your lips for barely a second. "May I kiss you?"
"You can," you replied, the surge of butterflies coming to accompany you once more.
You couldn't help the smile that grew on your lips when he kissed you, giddy and blissful. Who would have thought that after months of being his loyal sidekick, you suddenly were his significant other? Who would have thought that a game of play pretend would turn out this way – the best way possible?
You wouldn't, but you were as happy as you could be.

PHANTOM THEIF!AU ANYONE?
Tumblr media
"ah, so here you are detective!" you say as the wind blows to the side of you.
you were a theif, a well-known one at that, and here you were being cornered by a just as well known detective. your rival, shikanoin heizou
your grip tightened on the diamond you had in hand while you stood on the roof waiting for your lift. heizou looked unamused, slightly tired from running up the stairs and overall annoyed.
"give it up, [name]. you have no where else to go." he looked behind you into the vast city "unless you want to become the next evelyn francis" he smirked as he rested his hand on his hip.
as the wind picked up around you signalling that your ride was here, you chuckled into your hand.
"you flatter me, shikanion." a ladder drops beside you "but the only way i'm going... is up" you step onto the ladder as the helicopter as it whiskes you into the night.
heizou runs after you as you climb up higher onto the ladder. you waved goodbye to him and blew him as kiss. heizou looks over the edge of the roof with balled fists and expletives in his mind. and also a red tint on his cheeks
"just you wait, [name]... just you wait."

“So, you have a puzzle to solve?” Heizou asks as soon as he welcomes you in his house.
You have a cake and a present with you, but they’re forgotten on a table.
You press a deep kiss on his lips, “Do you really think that’s my priority right now?”
That morning you looked at your screen bewildered. One selfie and one message. The picture is that of your boyfriend, sitting with a book on his lap. Nothing weird with that, if it weren’t for his improper (to say the least) face. Either that was the best book in the world ever written, or his hand had been busy with something else before grabbing the book. His text, on the contrary, seemed the most polite and purest in the world.
“You see, I can't directly invite you as a guest, because you might think that I'm expecting a gift!”
“I don't want you to think that I'm someone who takes advantage of others' kindness.”
You sigh. He wasn’t expecting anything, yeah, but now your expectations skyrocketed.
Heizou chuckles quietly, “I thought you liked puzzles.”
“And it seems you really loved that book”, you retort.
“Oh it was breathtaking”, he kisses you on your cheek and gets closer to your ear, “The book doesn’t come close to you though.”
Unable to wait anymore, you kneel and remove his pants. His cock is warm in your hand, you start salivating as if you’re in front of the tastiest food. You kiss his tip while your hand begins to move up and down his length. Heizou whimpers softly, “You know so well what I need”, his hands reach your hair, stroking them softly, “This will be the best present.”
You feel him getting harder and harder under your fingertips and you wonder who is getting the real present right now because you look up to see the sexiest of expressions on his face. You swear you’d be able to cum just with his flushed pretty face. If you weren’t busy down there, you’d reach for his cheeks, now as red as cherries, and kiss them, savoring them to discover if they’re as sweet as they look.
But that could wait. Instead you open your mouth to let his cock in, his eyes get watered as he arches his back a bit. The grip of Heizou’s hands on your head gets a bit firmier, “You are so good” he whispers.
Your hands reach his plump ass cheeks. You give them a squeeze enjoying the softness of his skin and the tone of his muscles.
“Y-yes, please-”
Heizou can’t stay still anymore, his hips rock, making their way into your mouth, “ Ah- more…”
You know what it means so your hands spread his cheeks to reach his hole. Your middle finger caresses it, you can already feel he’s prepared himself from how soft and wet it is. Mr.I Don’t Expect Anything had everything perfectly planned out. Not that you mind honestly, being used like that.
Your middle finger abruptly enters his hole while he lets out a cry of surprise. You know that hole too well after all the times he made you tease him in his deepest parts, so it doesn’t take long before you reach his prostate. You rub it, you press it, enjoying the crazy twitching of his cock between your lips and Heizou finally lets himself go and moans shamelessly, not caring if he’s heard by his neighbors.
Your voice is coming out too, muffled by his cock. You feel so excited, you fear you’re more excited than him even though nobody has touched you yet.
“ Ngh , wait- wait a bit”, he pulls your face away, “I don’t wanna cum like that.”
You listen to him as always, even though your mouth is so lonely and empty and his cock is so red and plump and begging you for more love…
“Wait”, Heizou grabs your hand and prompts you to get up, “You need to put that mouth to better use.”
He leads you to his room, pushes you on his bed and climbs right after you.
“Let’s get rid of everything”, he still had his shirt on and you were fully clothed. He throws everything on the floor without much care and he sits on your lap.
You’re still mesmerized by his dick, but now that he’s bare chest something else catches your attention. His small, pink and delicious nipples. Your fingers automatically go up, he shivers while you rub them. They get turgid under your touch, you move slightly to suck on them but he stops you, “I don’t wanna cum like that”, he repeats frustrated, “I told you to put your mouth to better use”, he says with a sly voice,“Are you ready?”
You nod, unable to use your mouth for speech anymore.
He crawls toward you, giving you a deep kiss, “You’re so good”, you flush, you swear to the archons you didn’t have a praise kink before, “You are the best”, he adds as he fixes his position. He now towers over you, his back turned toward you. You have an amazing view of his swollen hole and his balls hanging right on your face. You imagine his cock, now out of view, still hard and stiff.
“Come here”, you finally remember how to speak.
With your hands you guide him toward you, until his hole is right on your mouth, happy to finally be busy again. Now it was time for his ass to receive your special treatment. Your tongue leaks his entrance, opening its way inside.
Heizou resumes his dirty moans as he begins to work his cock desperately. You wish you could see it, but your vision is filled completely by his ass. You swirl your tongue and he trembles.
Heizou leans forward a bit, placing his face close to your genitals.
“ Ngh- look what we have here? A pervert who gets off by licking cocks and asses.”
Yes, you think,  I’m a pervert who gets off by licking cocks and asses, it’s not like there was much pride left in you anyway..
“Do you really ah- do you really need h-help? It seems you can come all on your own.”
At this rate, he was probably right, but you don’t have the time to answer Heizou's question, he buried his face between your legs. You let out a moan of surprise.
Finally, finally you scream in your head. Strong waves of magma that become deeper, stronger as his tongue works skilfully. You’re going crazy. There are only moans, sloppy sounds and shameless lips eating forbidden food, saliva reaching secret spots as tremors overwhelms you.
You could get lost in his hole as it twitches because it wants you deeper, harder. Reality fades in the background, you’re on top of a roller coaster, on its peak for just an instant before you suddenly precipitate in the depths of orgasm. Heizou’s warm fluids stain your abdomen as his sweet voice fills your ears.
He rolls on your side, “That was great”, he lets out a satisfied sigh.
Heizou’s cock lays on his leg, as languid as its owner. Your fingers trail to your belly, touching his cum.
“Next time do that in my mouth”, you mumble looking at your hand dirty with semen. Without thinking you clean them up with your tongue.
“ Oh my God ”, Heizou looks at you wide-eyed, “You are a real slut.”
“Look who’s talking”, you try to sound offended, probably failing, “Instead of treating me like a dummy, why don’t you open the present I got you? There’s also a cake.”
“Ok, ok”, he gets up lazily, “But next year you can just put a red ribbon on yourself and I’ll think about the cake”, he slaps his ass cheek before disappearing in the other room.
You blush furiously, “ H-heizou !” you were always going to lose against him, weren’t you?

Chapter 1
Tumblr media
CW: Mentions of Violence Summary: After infiltrating the Nobushi and Treasure Hoarder’s ranks without back-up from any governing bodies with authority, [Y/N] ends up in jail with the lot of them thanks to a raid on their main base by the Tenryou Commission. Luckily for you, your peculiar circumstances caught the eye of a certain plucky, yet well-respected Doushin.
Tumblr media
A dull, throbbing pain pulsated through your head as you began to slowly push yourself up off of the hard, wooden floor. Where are you, and how had you gotten here? As you regained consciousness and observed your surroundings, you would become keenly aware of where you and your associates were currently being held. The Tenryou Commission’s holding cells in the police station. Great. Just great. You thought to yourself as you gathered your bearings. Unlucky for you, however, moments after you regained consciousness a few lower ranked officers would make their way into your cell, dragging you to one of the many interrogation rooms two floors up. After being haphazardly tossed into the room, you were once again left to your own devices. In what one could only assume would be a brief moment of reprieve, you took the time to search your person, letting out a sigh of relief when your hand was met with the pulsating sensation of your vision. The warmth your pyro vision emitted was enough to bring life back to your, uncharacteristically, pale face. It was a welcomed sensation, especially in your current circumstance.
Thinking back on it, the whole ordeal that landed you in your present predicament was… fuzzy. As you wracked your brain for the answers, you would begin to pace on the opposite side of the room, eyes focused on the ground. Ah, that’s right, it’s all coming back to you now! Although some of the details are still missing, you recall that after returning to the main hideout your treasure hoarder and nobushi “pals” called home from your latest scouting mission, one of the rather crude - but oddly efficient - alarm systems went off. It was a raid! Even so, you don’t remember the details of when you were arrested. One moment you were sitting next to a fire roasting some fish, and the next you were waking up here in a holding cell. Wait a minute, a raid? When had the Tenryou Commission taken the time to follow any of your leads? Surely, you would have noticed if someone had been following you right? Maybe… maybe you didn’t? While yes it’s been your goal for the last several months to leave enough of a trail for someone with authority to lead a raid on the main base, you were hoping you’d at least be out on an assignment or something when it happened so you didn’t get wrapped up in all of this mess!! A scowl crossed your pursed lips as you stopped in your tracks. Ugh. Just great. Now you’d probably be sent to prison for Archons know how long and potentially miss out on– “My my, you’re rather lost in thought there aren't cha~? I wonder how long it’s going to take you to notice I’m even here~.” A mischievous voice spoke up from the other side of the interrogation room, pulling you out of your own thoughts. When did he get here? How long had he been sitting there watching you pace? Across the room sat none other than the Doushin Shikanoin, a highly renown detective who worked with the Tenryou Commission. When your eyes finally met with his, you would notice the rather smug smirk on his face, which elicited a somewhat subtle eye roll from you. This was not the person you thought you’d be dealing with, especially after only having been awake for– How long had you been awake? Not more than twenty minutes at this point right? As you got distracted with your own thoughts again, a curt cough was heard from the detective, drawing your attention back to him once again.
“Man alive, I think you’re the first suspect I’ve had to actively get the attention of. Don’t tell me I’m rusty or something! That would only add insult to injury at this point.” Heizou’s shoulders slumped as he leaned forward onto the wooden table that sat in the center of the interrogation room, his chin resting on one of his hands while his eyes wandered up and down your figure inquisitively. Feeling his unnerving gaze on you, your body would press itself against the wall you stood closest to.
“Awe c’mon~” he said with a light laugh, his smirk only widening as the moments passed “I don’t bite! Come! Join me and sit! Truly, how are we to have any worthwhile conversation when you’re holed up in the corner over there!?”
Although you were weary, you made your way to the table and sat across from the rather jovial detective. Surely he had to be up to something, no? Anybody who was anyone knew the name Shikanoin Heizou and what he was capable of! In fact, he was the reason recruiting was so difficult these last few months! Nobody wants to get caught up in a case under the eye of Doushin Shikanoin, and yet here you were, one of the now many unlucky sods tied up by him.
“So why don’t we start with introductions? I’m sure you’re aware that I’m-” “Doushin Shikanoin. Yes, I know who you are. Everyone here does.” You hadn’t meant any disrespect by interrupting him, it’s just at this point you’d rather get the pleasantries out of the way. “Man alive, you just had to steal my thunder, didn’t you, Y/N?” Eh? How did he know your name? For a moment you thought back on the brief conversation you’ve had thus far and… Nope! You definitely hadn’t said your name in that time! “Hehehe~ The look of panic on your face is enough for me to forgive you for stealing my line a moment ago.” His cheeky grin made your blood boil just a little. Were all detectives as borderline unprofessional as him? Before you were given a moment to retreat into your own thoughts again, Heizou would produce a familiar, leather-bound journal from underneath the table. One could assume he had been hiding it there until you had come to sit down with him. Not daring to make any sudden movements, you watched as the detective began to leaf through the journal, his olive eyes scanning each page thoroughly and efficiently.
“Y’know Y/N, there’s enough evidence in this little journal of yours to put you and your associates behind bars for at least 20 years. Grand larceny, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disturbing the peace, distribution of stolen goods… Dare I go on? Tell me, what possessed you to keep something so glaringly incriminating on your person? It’s almost like you wanted to get caught or something.” He peeked around the book to watch your expression, any shift in your mood would be telling to the detective, and with that in mind- Oh who are you kidding? Keeping a cool head after hearing you were going to be sentenced to a minimum of 20 years?! It almost didn’t seem real. Even so, while tears began to pour down your face as you were faced with the prospect of spending the rest of your early life in prison, a shaky smile spread like a wildfire across your lips. It didn’t matter if you were going down too, you finally succeeded in your goal. You took down one of the big three branches of treasure hoarders and nobushi in Inazuma. Whilst you were once again wrapped up in your own mind, Heizou’s gaze softened, his eyes sparkling ever so slightly with curiosity and intrigue. His intuition had been correct it seemed, and now that he had confirmed the suspicions he had about you, he would quietly exit the interrogation room while you were preoccupied. Not only was he not going to get an answer out of you at the moment, there was also something he needed to get done, and fast.
When you’re not aware of the passage of time, it seems to creep by at an eerily slow and concerningly fast rate, and by the time you had quelled your inner turmoil, Heizou was gone. Wiping your face clean of tears, you sighed softly and took the alone time to gather yourself again. Your eyes flickered around the interrogation room lazily, absorbing every last detail about it, knowing each breath you took was getting closer to the last one you’d take as a free person. Eventually, your gaze would land on the table you were sitting at for an undisclosed amount of time. There was a glass of water, some honey lavender melon, and bread. Where had this come from?
Not thinking too deeply into it, you reached out and took the glass, holding it to your lips to greedily drink its contents. After drinking over half, you set it back down and let out a sigh of relief. Crying always leaves you feeling sticky and dehydrated, regardless of how much or little you did. With nothing better to do, you would also indulge on the food that had been provided to you. When there was nothing left, you finished off the rest of the water and sighed, content that this could be your last meal as a free citizen. Despite wanting to cherish these fleeting moments of freedom, you crossed your arms and laid them on the table, resting your head atop them. A little nap wouldn’t hurt, right?
When you were finally awoken some hours later, it was by one of the guards who had initially escorted you to this room to begin with. He seemed rather irritated, probably due to the fact you were out like a light until his rather gruff voice penetrated its way into your dreams and roused you from your slumber. After securing your wrists with cuffs, the guard would begin to lug you back down to the holding cells. Just as he was about to bring you down the first flight of stairs, a familiar and rather annoyed voice called out, making the guard halt in his tracks. “Officer Nakamura! Unhand them this instant!” Heizou shouted, jogging up to you and the officer. Finally in front of you two, he put his hands on his hips and let out an irritated sigh. “Just what do you think you’re doing?”
“I’m bringing them back down to the holding cells?” Nakamura replied quizzically. Was this a test? Surely it wasn’t, right? “Gah, man alive, you’d think someone would have given you the memo.” “The memo? I’m afraid I’m not following, Doushin Shikanoin...” Heizou didn’t hesitate to pull you free from Nakamura’s grasp, and after removing the restraints on your wrists, he would hook an arm around your neck, pressing the two of you together while a sneaky smile spread across his face. “Well Nakamura, Y/N here is actually my partner, and they’ve been acting as a double agent for the Tenryou Commission. Thanks to all the commotion stirred by madam Kujou Sara, our little birdie here couldn’t escape to the extraction point during the raid~! Really was a shame we had to get them back this way, though I guess it did benefit their cover to be arrested with them~. Just adds to their credibility at this point.” As Nakamura began to profusely apologize to you for mistaking you as one of the apprehended criminals, you turned your attention to the detective who was currently leaning against you. Feeling your eyes on him, Heizou turned to meet your gaze and winked at you, his grin only widening. What have you gotten yourself into?

MEOW?
Tumblr media
them as cat parents.
ft. Kaedehara Kazuha, Scaramouche/Wanderer, Xiao, Shikanoin Heizou, Albedo, Kaveh, Alhaitham, Childe x gn! reader.
cw/genre: fluff, headcanons.
word count: 1.7k.
Tumblr media
✧ KAEDEHARA KAZUHA
— All cats adore him and he’s fond of them too, he’s the perfect cat parent.
— Kazuha is soft, warm and gentle, all attributes very appealing to the small felines that tend to follow him around everywhere he goes: from the streets of Inazuma City, to the docks of Ritou, to even during his trips to Liyue.
— Kazuha is a free spirit, wandering from one place to another, a fallen maple leaf, vibrant red in its trajectory across the sky. His desire to see the world makes it difficult for him to linger in one place only, so it is not likely he ends up adopting a cat of his own.
— However, always that he’s in Inazuma, the wandering samurai makes sure to visit his late friend’s gravestone. In those occasions, as much as he keeps his composure, Kazuha’s grip on your hand tightens, a reassurance to himself, that the heavens won’t part in thunderbolts and take you away too.
— These visits are heavy on his heart, but your company and the soft mewls of the white kitten his friend left behind manage to shine a little sunlight in his stormy memories.
— The small cat’s ears perk up when you two show up, its tail swishing as it leaps into Kazuha’s arms, eliciting soft giggles from the wandering poet.
— You could stare forever at the sight of your lover’s smile when the little one paws at his cheeks curiously, playing with the tips of Kazuha’s moonlit hair. You sigh dreamily, gaze soft. If a day comes when you’re too weary and old to travel anymore, you’re so taking in the kitty.
✧ SCARAMOUCHE
— He’s the cat.
— Seriously, now. Cats are drawn to him. And even if he denies it, he has to hold back a smile when the little creatures follow him around.
— The wanderer is secretly very, very soft on the cats.
— Oftentimes, he lets them hide under his hat, carrying them around when he goes for walks around Sumeru. He thinks, that way, his doll won’t be so lonely either (he definitely introduces it to his favorite cats he befriends but shh don’t tell him you saw that.)
— If you point out how the kittens seem to consider him one of them, Scara will blush deeply, frowning and spouting how you’re seeing things and that no, he’s not keeping any of them.
— Oh yeah, he totally went out to feed the kitties some scraps that night, it’s late and he wanted to sleep, you see? and the animals were being loud. (No, it’s definitely not because he feels guilty of saying he’s not keeping them).
— One time, you caught him rescuing a very small black cat on a thunderstorm, and to this day, you still believe that’s the most precious thing you have ever witnessed.
— The smile on your boyfriend’s face and his wide indigo eyes when he felt the warmth of the kitten’s small body against his hollow heart are definitely a treasure you want to keep forever.
✧ XIAO
— He’s the cat, number 2.
— Liyue’s cats have a favorite and that’s definitely none other than the mighty vigilant yaksha, the conqueror of demons, the bane of all evil.
— In truth, he’s just a blushing awkward mess around the kittens.
— One, he’s scared to hurt them. They’re so small and their mewls are so soft… such pure and innocent creatures… What if his karma were to taint them?
— Two, he’s clueless.
— Literally. One time you were playing with the stray cats around the streets of Liyue, Xiao showing up as you were rubbing a tabby one’s belly. When you put the small kitty in the adeptus’ arms, he didn’t know what to do.
— What if he accidentally drops it? Or holds it too tight?
— Please, reassure Xiao :( he really needs it.
— Wrapping your hands around his, your body against his, you petted the cat with Xiao, the small animal nuzzling into your boyfriend. His blushy face when the feline purred in pleasure was too adorable, you’ll have to make him hold cats more often ehe.
✧ SHIKANOIN HEIZOU
— Heizou wants to protect beautiful things, to keep them in the precious light of their safety.
— That, of course, includes cats.
— They’re so adorable, brightening his day when he’s away from you and the small animals follow him around on his way to work in the mornings.
— They look so cute, with their big shiny eyes, observing him curiously, that the detective starts to take them under his wing.
— As unexpected as it was, to hear “meow?” instead of “I’m home, sweetheart!” one day as the front door swung open, you can’t deny it was beyond adorable, the way your boyfriend walked into the living room with a small cat nestled on top of his head.
— Yes, you ended up keeping the little one.
— It now joins the detective gathering clues for the cases he solves; sometimes the small animal leads the way when it’s too dark to see the trails, or it gently scratches Heizou’s legs when it senses danger.
— And rest assured, that Heizou will keep the kitty safe too. No matter what. It reminds him of you, sometimes, when it stares up at him with a starry gaze. Something as precious needs to be cherished.
✧ ALBEDO
— He finds cats to be very interesting creatures.
— Independent, intelligent, able to fit in practically any space… he wonders if they’re actually liquid or if their structure has been alchemically altered to have such fascinating properties.
— When, after exhaustive observation, the chief alchemist finally concludes that cats are indeed just naturally like that, they become his favorite companions (after you, that is).
— Sometimes, when Albedo is around Mondstadt, the kittens there follow him to the alchemy bench, rubbing against his legs when he’s working.
— You and the cats become Albedo’s favorite models as well. He loves your giggles when the little ones paw at your lap, trying to climb on your shoulders.
— They also become his little helpers when he paints, handing him a brush when he needs it, even without him having to ask.
— If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see the chalk prince trying to converse with the kittens too.
— Something along the likes of “Hmm… which color do you think [Y/n] would like best here? This one?” The kreideprinz asks, dipping his brush into it. “You’re a smart one, aren’t you?” He coos as the cat, rubbing its chin.
— Now you wish you could sketch, to immortalize the moment. Luckily, you have your kamera with you.
✧ KAVEH
— Oh sweet disney princess Kaveh, cats and pretty much all animals adore him.
— Neither you nor him know when the cats around Port Ormos started following him, but now they just won’t leave.
— No matter how many times he (halfheartedly) scolds the kitties, they are not fazed by the architect’s pouty expression.
— So your home becomes home for the cats milling about Sumeru.
— Your lover goes as far as to design a whole area for the little animals, building small houses for them to stay in with their own bowls of food, color coordinated and decorated, of course.
— You look happy helping him care for the cats too. However, when you offer to buy them food, your boyfriend can’t let you; he’ll take on extra commissions if he has to, but Kaveh just can’t allow you spending money on this little, albeit adorable, “problem.”
— There was one time one of the kitties sneaked inside your house, making it to your room. Let’s just say, the small feline found Kaveh’s face very entertaining and decided to nuzzle against it. The scene was so precious you couldn’t bring yourself to shoo the cat away, deciding to lay down with your partner and his new fan.
✧ ALHAITHAM
— Around the time he had to fill in the position of acting grand sage, the hours your boyfriend could spend with you were helplessly diminished, due to him having to cover overtime.
— You felt a little lonely, so well, can you exactly be blamed for adopting a baby cat from the local shelter?
— Turns out, your decision kind of “backfired” on you. For, in the hours he’s away, not only do you miss Alhaitham, but the latest addition to your household does too.
— The kitty has become very fond of your lover, often curling up beside him while he reads. One hand holding his book and the other caressing the kitten’s grey fur, the sight is rather candid, you think, smiling, as you curl up beside them.
— At your presence, the cat doesn’t hesitate to jump into your lap, swishing its tail and meowing for more petting from the scribe beside you.
— With a tender grin tugging at his lips, Alhaitham leaves a kiss to your temple, resuming his affections on the little one.
— No matter how brief, as long as you can have moments like this, everything will be alright, you muse, closing your eyes, heart warmed by your two boys.
✧ CHILDE
— Repeat after me, Childe: no, you can’t train the cats to fight on the battlefield with you.
— Once you get past that, he’s good at caring for the kittens. Makes sure they always have food and toys, comfy beds and a space to play. Ajax is good at taking care of those he loves, as proved with his family.
— Speaking of which, his siblings would adore playing with the cats you and Childe adopt, especially Teucer! (he totally talks to them about mister cyclops, the animals staring up at him curiously, pawing at his figurine softly).
— As much as you’re against your cats joining your boyfriend in his battles, they love watching him as he practices, their large eyes following the movements of his dual blades or his bow.
— The harbinger always makes extra time for the adorable pets, playing with them after his training, no matter how tired he is.
— Those times, he doesn’t get scolded when he’s late for dinner (you’ve been secretly watching, smiling to yourself at how cute your lover is. Yes, you totally were staring too while he was shirtless, muscles taut as he wielded his hydro conjured spear).

Heizou + Candy Apples
The bright red maple leaves of Inazuma fell gently onto the ground and whisked through the quiet wind as you and Heizou walked through the streets of Inazuma City, hands and fingers loosely intertwined.
It was calm and quiet, only the sound of chatter from the other visitors filling the air. Your hands swung back and forth, a light smile grazing your face. That was until you felt a sudden pull on your hand, as if you were being dragged away.
The detective you called your boyfriend was now pulling you along with him, but not enough to hurt you. “Heizou! Slow down, what the hell-” you called out to him, confused on why he was so suddenly running.
“Aw, C’mon, Y/n! Don’t you smell that?” He laughed, not caring to turn back and face you.
“Smell what?” You said puzzled. Heizou huffed dramatically before stopping and pointing to the cart standing just a few feet away, a worker stood in front of it handing out candy apples with a warm smile on their face.
“It’s candy apples! C’mon, lets get some!” He jumped excitedly, almost as if he was a child. He was right though, they smelled really good and you were quite hungry. Besides, it was fall now and what better way to kick off the season than having candy apples together with your boyfriend.
Kaeya + Halloween Party
“Y/n! Over here!” you heard as soon as you walked into the knight’s headquarters. Your eyes searched around until you saw Amber waving at you from the opposite side of the corridor, excitement was present in her eyes.
You smiled back and walked over toward her. The two of you complimented each other’s costumes and caught up with each other for a bit. It didn’t last long before a gloved hand made its way to your shoulder and pulled you into someone’s side.
“Well, well, well,” someone said from beside you, “What do we have here?”
“Shut up, Kaeya,” you jokingly rolled your eyes.
His eyes widened and he feigned a hurt expression, “Now, that is no way to treat your boyfriend, Y/n.”
Your eyes squinted once you turned to face him, “Kaeya, you can’t be my boyfriend without a costume. Literally who shows up to a halloween party without a cosutme!”
What? I am wearing a costume!”
“No you’re not.”
“Yes, I am.”
“Really? Because it looks like what you wear everyday,” you deadpanned. He placed a hand over his heart, the fake hurt expression from earlier once again making its way back onto his face. Amber laughed and walked away from the petty argument, you hadn’t even noticed her leave.
“No I’m not, I’m dressed as a pirate!”
You had half a nerve to slap him right then and there, instead, you burst out laughing. Some of the other knights had even looked over to see what all the commotion was, but ignored it nevertheless. You weren’t phased by it though, in fact, you were too consumed by your laughter.
“There- There is no way, you’re being serious right now!” You held your stomach as you continued to laugh.
“Stop laughing…I’m serious, Y/n. Stop laughing!”
Albedo + Apple Cider
“Shit it’s cold out here,” you spoke as you shivered, hands tucked under your armpits to try to keep warm. Albedo glanced at you, a frown making it’s way onto his face.
“Really? It seems quite warm here compared to Dragonspine,” he thought aloud. The two of you stopped walking, choosing to stand next to the fountain for a moment. It was only October, yet the air felt freezing cold as you and Albedo took a late night walk in Mondstadt’s city gates. If anything, you were happy you weren’t in Dragonspine right now.
Albedo looked down at himself, all he had on was his normal lab coat, but without the sleeves, he knew it would do no good to keep you warm. “I apologize, I do not have anything to keep you warm. Perhaps, you could take my gloves though?”
Without hesitation, you took them from his hands. It barely did anything to help though. Your teeth were chattering now and Albedo was getting more and more worried.
“Here, come sit down for a second,” the alchemist said as he guided you to a nearby bench. Luckily, it was wooden so it wasn’t too cold unlike the stone ones. You wrapped your arms around your torso, leaning forward as you watched him walk off toward the Good Hunter.
A few moments later, your blonde haired boyfriend returned, two cups in his hand. He carefully sat down next you before handing you one of them, “They were selling hot apple cider, I believe this could help to warm you up.”
You smiled and drank it quickly, almost burning your tongue. “Careful, now,” Albedo spoke again, a light laugh falling from his lips.
You sipped it carefully and Albedo moved to put his arm around you. Mentally, he made a note to start wearing an actual coat. You looked so cute wearing his gloves and sipping on the cider, Albedo smiled at the sight. He could only imagine what you would look like wearing one of his coats.
Yelan + Scary Story Telling
“…Some say he died of natural causes, but everyone knows it’s actually because he brutally murdered everyone and then killed himself, allowing him to haunt the building forever.”
“Y/n?” Yelan spoke after a moment of silence. She turned to face you, who was lying next to her in bed, only to find you with a ghostly look on your face and a frightened stare.
An hour ago, you and Yelan were supposed to go to bed for the night. However, since it was nearing Halloween, Yelan thought it would be a fun idea to tell scary stories. It turned out to not be so fun after all now that you were practically shaking in fear next to her.
Yelan smirked for a moment, proud of herself for successfully scaring you. Her laugh suddenly rang out in your ears and you frowned. “That is so not funny.”
You turned away from her and pulled the covers over yourself. Yelan’s laughter gently faded out and a quiet but warm smile grazed her face. Her eyes softened as she looked at you.
Carefully, she wrapped her arms around your waist and pulled you toward her so that your back was against her torso. “I’m sorry for scaring you, do you forgive me?”
You huffed out a sigh and turned around in her arms, gently laying your head against her chest and shutting your eyes. “I guess I can forgive you,” you sleepily murmured.
“Good,” she said quietly, “But I gotta say, your face was priceless.”
“Yelan!”
Scaramouche + Handing Out Candy
The sound of kids running through the street and the light wind sifting through the leaves was the only sound filling the air. It was nice, something calming to zone out to. A dazed look was on your face as you smiled at all the kids enjoying the Halloween festivities.
The sound someone spitting something out followed by a “Ugh, that’s fucking disgusting.” was what snapped you out of your trance. Your eyes snapped to your boyfriend who was sitting next to you, a grimace on his face and a candy wrapper now on the floor.
“Did you seriously just eat a piece of the candy? That’s for the kids, Scaramouche!” You exclaimed.
“So? I wanted to try it. Though I shouldn’t have seeing as it tasted like the worst thing I’ve ever eaten in my life,” he countered, ”I mean, seriously, what kids even eat this shit?”
You rolled your eyes at him and snatched the bowl from his hands, “C’mon, can’t you be nice for once? It’s Halloween!”
“Shut up. You taste it then and then you’ll be on my side instead of these creepy little demon children.”
“You just ate the last piece of that candy thou-” you were cut off by Scaramouche placing his lips directly on yours, the flavors of the candy now on your tongue. When he stepped back, he smirked at you, prepared for you to agree with him.
“The candy tastes fine to me,” you paused for a second, a smile pulling at your lips, “Though, maybe it’s just your breath.”
Scaramouche’s smile fell from his face in an instant, “I’ll kill you- hey! Get back here, Y/n!”
Ayaka + Full Moon
The first time you met her it was like love at first sight for you. Your hands were all clammy and your heart starting racing. She was your first crush, and you were sure she would be your last. No one could compare to her.
“Wow,” you breathed out in awe as you stared up at the night sky. You had practically whispered it, but Ayaka still heard you. Her eyes followed your line of sight and she gazed up at it too. It was Halloween and there was a full moon, it was perfect.
“You always have loved the moon, haven’t you?” she spoke, voice soft as always. You only nodded, still staring up at it. On the contrary, her eyes drifted back to you.
She had been walking you out for the night and you were just about to say goodbye. Yet, here you were, still at the Estate standing side by side. Neither of you wanted to leave the other.
Ayaka’s hand grabbed yours gently, pulling you out of your trance. She knew you loved the moon, how could she not? So, with her mind made up, she interlocked her fingers with yours and pulled you a little closer.
You hadn’t known that she liked you back, but maybe tonight you could. Maybe tonight, Ayaka could finally tell you how she felt.
Tighnari + Autumn Rain
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
You turned toward Tighnari as you stood up from the forest ground, a confused look on your face, “What’s wrong?”
He nearly rolled his eyes at you, “It’s cloudy out, meaning it’s probably going to rain…again. And that means we have to postpone work for another day. Why does it have to rain so damn much during the fall.”
You held back the urge to laugh, “Are you serious? It’s just rain, it’s not gonna kill your work.”
The forest watcher was about to argue again but was interrupted by a small droplet of water landing on his face. He let out an annoyance laced sigh and began to grab his things. More droplets began to fall and fast — almost as fast as his mood was dropping.
“Archons, c’mon, Y/n, let’s go ba-” Tighnari stopped mid-sentence, his bag would’ve fallen off his shoulder if you hadn’t grabbed it in time. You were about to keep walking when his arm suddenly shot out and pulled you back against him, “You can’t go out there, it’s pouring and you’ll get all of our equipment wet.”
You fought back the flushed feeling you had just gotten and gently removed his arm from in front of you — it was certainly not helping the developing crush you had on him. “It’s just a little autumn rain, Tighnari. We can’t wait under these plants forever. Besides, we literally live in a rainforest.”
“No, we can’t risk ruining our equipment with the water. And I don’t want you getting sick,” he spoke calmly. You nearly felt your heart beat out of your chest.
You carefully took off your backpack and laid it against a rock, Tighnari did the same. As the two of you settled down, Tighnari began to gently smile to himself as he glanced at you. Even though the weather conditions were less than ideal, Tighnari knew it was the perfect time to finally confess his feelings for you.
Dehya + Leaves
“Archons, have I ever mentioned how much I hate being in the rainforest?” Dehya grumbled. You giggled in response.
“Only a million times,” you responded. A small smile was still on your face. It was always so comical for you whenever you had the chance to walk through Sumeru City with Dehya. It made her so pouty sometimes. She found it annoying, but you found it rather cute.
Not that she knew that, of course.
The silence between the two of you was comfortable. You had stopped walking as you stopped in front of the door to your house. Dehya hesitantly stopped, her hand dropping from your arm. You brushed over the spot, feeling a little cold now that it was gone.
You giggle softly again and the same frown from earlier returned to Dehya’s face. Your hand reached up to her hair and she leaned back a bit, flustered.
“What are you doing?” she whispered as you walked closer, her eyes widening. Any closer, and your lips could’ve touched.
But you quickly retreated and your hand retracted from her hair. You held something up to her face as you slyly smiled.
“There was a leaf in your hair.”

༄ anemo boys as shimeji ! 𖧷
☁︎ written as of version 3.3
a/n: i saw some (characters) as shimeji and i got inspired by @midknightwritings so check them out if you want to! (i hope that's ok just dm me if you want anything changed)
sypnosis: shimeji is a type of chrome extension but kinda for your whole computer (i think, it's been some time since i used shimeji) ! if it isn't then just pretend it is lol anyways, anemo boys as shimeji
characters: kazuha, heizou, xiao, venti, wanderer (scaramouche)
disclaimer/warnings: none
☁︎
kazuha
THIS MAN
will absolutely spoil you with work/study tips
he won't give you straight up answers though, he believes that giving you the solution is good enough and that you shouldn't depend on him for answers
but if you're struggling with anything, he won't hesitate to help you
clings to your cursor a lot
and when i say a lot i mean a lot.
but when you need your cursor to do some work then he'll let go (for now) and watch you from either the bottom of your computer or the very top. there is no in between.
he will definitely organise your folders and everything, but he won't touch your latest works or rename anything
loves it when you drag him around the screen with your cursor, do it more!
probably the most sane and respectful to your tabs and apps opened among the rest of the anemo gang and won't meddle with it
whenever there's even just a little suspicious thing on your pc he'll inform you immediately
he'll greet you every time you turn on or shut down your pc
"good morning/afternoon/evening, (your user), how has your day been so far?"
heizou
goodness gracious
mf would clone himself to. the. MAX.
1 heizou is never enough!
he'll let you procrastinate a little if you're tired
but if your near the due date and you still haven't started?
don't even turn on your computer at this point.
the moment you boot up your pc you can find him sitting on top of your minimized empty work tab and crossing his arms at you
anytime you try to open something unrelated to your work he will spam those error messages but with messages like "not yet, finish your work first ;)" or "i'll give your device a virus if you don't finish this >:)" (he won't actually give you a virus)
but when you're actually done with your work or when you have some free time, he will literally hang on your cursor
whether it be him biting your cursor or sitting on it, he will be there
he is your search bar.
you wanna know the whether? he's got it.
you wanna know how babies are made? he'll explain in detail.
you wanna know the average time of how long it'll take for ice to melt inside a microwave at 13°C? he'll find out.
you name it, he's got it.
just expect him demanding a lot of head pats as compensation afterwards
expect him to tease you a lot when you watch any romance.
"if I weren't stuck behind the screen this could be us *wink*"
xiao
he's just
there.
drag him around, hold him down with your cursor, stick him to the sides of your pc, he'll label everything you do as a 'nuisance' and a 'distraction'
but we both know he loves it
he doesn't really interfere with your work at all
just quietly judges you as you make a hella lot of mistakes in your project
he'll correct you though!
will literally jump onto your errors and make a fuss about it
say goodbye to those red squiggly lines when you make a spelling mistake because HE WILL HIGHLIGHT IT IN THE BRIGHTEST RED EVER (only if you somehow fail to notice him making a huge commotion in the middle of your screen)
unlike kazuha, he won't inform you of any viruses
you won't even see them in the first place
with him on your pc, no viruses are safe.
he doesn't tell you though, he likes to keep a low profile and worries that you might panic at the thought if having a virus in your computer
he will mostly definitely judge you at your music taste, movies, anything at all
silently though.
every time you boot up your computer he'll be like
"you humans always waste your time on devices such as this."
but the moment you attempt to shut down your comp he will literally make a 😰 face
venti
mf climbs your screen 24/7
whatever you do, he. is. climbing.
turn on your pc? *climbs.*
open up a game? *climbs.*
on a call? *climbs.*
but when you forcefully drag him down to your taskbar, he just kinda whines and make an "ehe." face
when you're doing something boring like working he'll either attempt to help or just fall asleep
most of the time you can't get anything done with him around
when you're free and have nothing to do though, he'll play hide and seek with you!
in your folders of course.
if you have a lot of files, good luck
when he doesn't get found for a long time though, he'll pop out of the file and look around
if he finds that you're afk he'll throw a tantrum, saying "you don't wanna play with me anymore!" or "you love your coffee more than you love me :("
those are just facades to get your attention though
he knows you love him (i think)
wanderer / scaramouche
it'd be smart of you to not install his shimeji in the first place
he'll rearrange your files, play around with your wallpaper, anything that distracts you
he really just wants your attention on him instead of that filthy google doc
but when you're offline and sleeping, he'll rearrange your folders back for you if you hadn't did so already
he'll revert your pc to its original state before his shenanigans
sometimes he'll rename your folders or works because he is absolutely fuming at the sight of
'actual_final_final_essay_attempt_3_(submit this one).doc'
as your file name.
every time you get a message about a virus he will literally hit the screen
you do online shopping? he'll diss everything you see, pointing out every dislike he has towards that... thing. as he likes to call it
watching movies with him are an absolute pain in the ass
ESPECIALLY romance
he'll openly judge you at anything and everything
just give him a snarky remark or tease him back and just watch him fall into pieces of your control
"hah! your single ass is so down bad to the point you're watching stuff like this?"
"yeah, because the person that i would actually get with is stuck behind a screen."
"w- hey- you're not supposed to- what-.??!"
error message 169
wanderershimeji.exe has stopped responding. close the app?

nsfw sub!heizou + gn!reader, overstimulating
"m-my god, please, please, god." you'd never seen him this desperate before.
heizou's work papers are spread out around him on the bed, messily strewn and unorganised. he's only in his shirt, unbuttoned, and his black tie hung loosely around his collar.
he's already cum once, made a mess all over himself but you hadn't given him a chance to breathe as you continue to drag your hand over his cock, your speed not changing.
heizou gasps, fingers grabbing the sheets and his shirt rides up his stomach when he arches his back off the bed, head thrown back and thighs shaking slightly.
"i'm.. i- i'm-" heizou cuts himself off constantly, with whimpers and whines, gasping for air. he can't think about anything but your hand on his cock, and he's bucking his hips into your fist. he feels dazed and dizzy, everything too much because you've never overstimulated him before.
"'m gonna cum, pl-mhfuck please." the last 'please' comes out breathless and heizou looks at you through his eyelashes before he moans loudly, fucking into your fist needily and you just let him.
"you gonna cum again, doll?" you tease, voice soft and you pick up your pace only slightly but it knocks a pretty moan from his lips.
heizou nods all pliant, eyes big and teary and he whimpers, "y-yeah-mh.." his eyebrows are furrowed, pretty lips open in small pants and he's still needily canting his hips into your hand. his laid-back, confident persona had simmered away, desperation clinging to him as soon as you had got your hands on him.
you tilt your head slightly, watching as he fucks himself with your hand and the red haired keeps gasping loudly. you lean over him - unbothered about crushing his papers - hand never slowing down on his cock and you gently hook your finger under his chin to make him look at you. heizou's olive eyes are dazed, only just open as he pants heavily, chest rising and falling and small whimpers leave his lips.
"you're so pretty, darling. so pretty when you're so desperate," you look down to watch your hand slide up and down his pretty cock dripping onto his stomach, "gonna make another mess for me?"
heizou nods again, eyes closing, "mhm.. pl..please."
you can't help the small smile forcing its way onto your lips at how needy he is. you'd never seen him so submissive before, his brain almost completely switched off of anything but you and your hand on him.
"oh, god.. please.." you squeeze his cock lightly, turning his head to look at you again and there's not a single thought behind his pretty eyes other than wanting to cum for you.
heizou makes the prettiest noise when you tease the head of his cock, back arching off the bed as he moans, fucking into your fist once again. you bite your lip gently, watching as he drips against your fingers and you part your lips in awe, "fuck. i could have you like this all day."
you watch him break - panting and gasping endlessly, hands grabbing everything he can: the sheets, your forearm, his work papers by his side.
brushing your thumb over his tip again, you swallow his pretty whines when you press your lips to his. heizou whimpers against your lips, kiss desperate as he gasps into your mouth, hips knocking into your fist in a needy way of showing he was close.
you quietly groan against his lips and he only lasts a few more seconds. it takes just a small flick of your wrist for him to snap.
the red haired pulls away from your lips, head falling back on to the bed in a silent gasp before a loud moan rips from his throat. heizou's back arches, fists gripping the sheets and eyes rolling back when he cums against your hand. you don't move away from his face, watching his eyes open slightly and pretty tears shine in them. you lean down to press a desperate kiss to his lips and he can hardly kiss back, whole body lax.
"fuck, that's it baby." you groan and stroke him through it as he cums, making a mess all over your fist and his stomach and his thighs shake as he gently bucks into your hand. heizou's shirt is crumpled underneath him, along with a few of his papers but he doesn't even realise, chest rising and falling as he tries to catch his breath.
you don't let up though. your hand still works along his cock, albeit slower than before to help him through the sensitivity. your strokes are light but the touch is enough for heizou to whimper, head shaking, "stop, please.. please.."
"you can do one more, can't you?" you smile, watching heizou's hips stutter every time your hand glides up his cock, "c'mon, darling."
heizou almost cries out once your grip tightens a little, eyes welling up with pretty tears. the red haired breathes heavily, eyes glancing at you desperately, "can't- i can't, please."
despite the denial, he lets out a quiet moan, eyebrows scrunching. heizou's legs unconsciously fall open and a grin tugs at your lips.
"that's a good boy."

"It is, by now, clear that the man we're looking for has fled to the cold mountain outside of our nation. Together with the Knights of Favonius we have come to the unanimous decision that the Tenryou Commission will remain on the case. Somewhere within the next few days, upon finishing all the needed preparations, a select few of our best detectives will be sent to Mondstadt in order to…"
You tried to listen to the droning voice of the old man in front of the room, for what he was saying held quite some importance, but you couldn't help but to zone out as nervousness swirled in your stomach. You were told that you were chosen to be on the team before the meeting even started, and you already felt the pressure resting on your shoulders. It wasn't just a random case you were assigned to, and not only that, it was also your first time leaving the nation of eternity. The entire thing was quite a big deal, and you knew you had to perform to the best of your abilities.
"...Dragonspine is a dangerous place and the suspect is someone who also imposes a threat. Please, keep this in mind at all times and do not operate on your own, I cannot stress this enough. Make sure to stay with your assigned partner and regroup in case of emergency…"
Yeah, this case started to terrify you.
"This is getting interesting," a voice next to you commented, and you glanced to your right to find Inazuma's most famous detective leaning back in his seat lazily.
He seemed utterly unfazed by the weight of all that was told, his eyes sparkling with a glint of excitement that was almost boyish. His lips were pressed into a lopsided grin; was he even taking this seriously? This wasn't a laughing matter in the slightest, nor was it a case that should be taken lightly. Everyone else in the room was dead serious, listening intently, but he seemed to be in his own little world.
What was his name again? Shikanoin Heizou, wasn't it? The prodigy detective of the Tenryou Commission, someone you were supposed to look up to. Ever since joining the detective department, you've heard a lot about him, for he had a reputation that preceded him across all of Inazuma. You've caught glimpses of him occasionally, but that was as far as it went so you never really formed an opinion about him. From what you were seeing of him right now, you were not impressed.
You decided to ignore his comment and redirected your focus to the Doushin in front as he went over the details surrounding the case.
Despite your nervousness, you were also excited. You had been working on the case for some time now and you were glad you had been chosen to continue the search in another nation. You were the one who paved the way for the breakthrough that directed the team to the icy mountain of Mondstadt, and you couldn't wait to delve through the thick layers of snow and secrets and eventually catch the culprit.
"Are you also on the case?" the detective next to you spoke up again, his hushed voice directed towards you this time. "You seem really immersed in what the old man is talking about."
"Yeah," you replied curtly, not even bothering to look at him. You weren't here to make conversation, you were here to grasp the details of your assignment, and this guy was being a distraction.
"So am I," the male whispered. "I mean, of course I am on the case. As soon as they asked me, I dropped a few other cases I was on. I didn't want to miss out on this opportunity."
Wasn't he a talkative one, huh? He sounded kind of full of himself too. Annoying and complete with an ego that was too big for your liking. You quickly came to the decision that you didn't particularly like him.
"I'm Heizou, by the way, but I'm sure you've heard about me before," he told you, his tone still quiet. He shot you a charming smile, and you forced yourself to ignore it despite the pavlovian urge to smile back.
Shit, why did his smile have to be so pretty?
"I'm Y/N," you muttered, opting against telling him to kindly shut up. You glanced at the clipboard in your lap, that held by far not as many notes as it should. You were so distracted, and the so-called brilliant detective was mostly the one to blame. So this was the Tenryou Commission's superstar?
Apparently, knowing your name satisfied him, for he didn't bother you for what remained of the meeting. In the last few minutes you frantically took notes, trying to scribble down details you had only heard vaguely. You couldn't help but glance at the cherry-haired male – you didn't know why, you just had to – and it kind of surprised you how he neatly took notes as well. So he did take it seriously?
"...will receive an invitation to the next meeting shortly, please be present there as well. That brings today's meeting to an end. Dismissed."
The elderly Doushin clapped his hands, and everyone started moving. You gathered the few things you had brought with you and got up, hurriedly exiting the room before the prodigy detective could bother you again. Of course it was no surprise that he was also on the case, but you weren't sure how to feel about it. Sure, if he was as good of a detective as everyone said, he was a great asset in finding the culprit in the barren circumstances of Dragonspine. But seeing was believing and he had yet to convince you of his skills.
                    ✧✧✧
You weren't sure why the Tenryou Commission's star detective decided to stick around you, but you weren't happy with it in the slightest. He was intrusive, always demonstrating how full he was of himself, lingering around you, firing remarks in your direction you didn't even ask for. Archons, you weren't even asking for his attention. He acted like you were close acquaintances, or friends even, while you barely met him once – and not even properly. Heizou wasn't always a pain in the ass, sometimes he just reached out to simply talk, but it still struck you the wrong way. He was what most people would describe as easy-going, but you found it plain annoying.
You wanted to focus on the case at hand. Shikanoin Heizou was a byproduct you hadn't bargained for. Were the circumstances any different, you probably wouldn't have disliked him all that much, but it was as it was and you wanted nothing to do with him.
Then why was he so adamant on talking to you?
Was it simply because you two were on the same case? Usually detectives who worked together kept things professional and free of distractions and hardly ever made friends as they were solving a case, but you were quick to find out that Heizou followed his own plan all the time. Who knew, maybe this was him trying to be friends with you – something you weren't up for.
Or was it because he knew how much he managed to annoy you, and was he doing it on purpose merely for his own entertainment? He didn't really seem like that type, but there was still a possibility of it being true.
Whatever his reason was, he always managed to find you in the hallways of the Tenryou Commission's headquarters, even when you were on your way to the second meeting.
"We can go there together, if you want?" he asked, and you replied with just an incoherent huff. You did not want to, but he took your answer as a yes.
After that, he simply followed you to the room where the meeting was being held. He was walking next to you now, and you tried your best not to focus on how handsome the guy actually was. He wasn't all that bad as long as he kept silent, you decided.
Unfortunately, he never did for long.
"So I overheard something interesting yesterday," he began as you rounded another corner on your way to the meeting. "Is it true that you're the one who guided us towards Dragonspine?"
How did he even find out? He wasn't on the case when you caused the breakthrough that led you to the icy mountain, and details such as that were usually kept quiet. And what more, what did it even matter?
"Yeah, that was me," you admitted with aversion.
"I hope you weren't wrong," he simply said.
A frown rested on your features as you turned to look at him. What kind of bullshit was it that came out of his mouth? You triple-checked all the facts and findings and it was so obvious; everything pointed towards Dragonspine, there was no doubt. All the detectives who gave their second opinion agreed, and now someone who wasn't even involved dared to question you?
"Are you underestimating me?" you asked, narrowing your eyes at the detective next to you.
The male replied to your question with another one.
     "What if I am?"
For once it wasn't a charming smile that adorned his lips. He was dead serious, his green eyes searching yours almost in a challenging way. Archons, this guy was really getting on your nerves. Don't punch him, Y/N,  don't punch him, you told yourself, exhaling deeply.
Then Heizou's look softened a little, and he shrugged.
"I usually only rely on myself when solving cases."
You looked at him in confusion. Things weren't adding up here. You might have been a detective, but this guy was a mystery you had yet to solve.
"Then why in Celestia's name did you join a cooperative operation?" you asked, puzzled.
The cherry-haired male seemed to think for a moment, before he once more shrugged his shoulders.
"I told you before, this case seemed interesting."
This guy didn't make sense to you at all, and it annoyed you to no end. You really tried to understand where he was coming from – though you had no idea why you tried so hard, you didn't even care about him – but you truly didn't get him. At first glance he seemed to be not at all complicated, but the longer your gaze rested upon him, the more you realized there was more about him.
Fortunately you had reached your destination. You were out of things to say and the silence that started between you felt awkward. You escaped by entering the meeting room and quickly took a seat. Not much to your surprise, Heizou sat down relatively close to you, but he didn't speak up and you were relieved.
The meeting went by rather smoothly. This time, only those who were directly involved with the case were present. Most of them had already worked on the case before the massive breakthrough and Heizou was one of the few new faces.
"I would like to start our second meeting by expressing my genuine gratitude towards you," the old man in front of the room started, picking up a stack of paper. "We have some of our nation's best detectives gathered here, and several of you dropped their previous case in order to assist us with this dire search. As much as that means to us, it also highlights the sheer importance of this case."
The rest of the talk actually wasn't much. The old man mostly went over the history of the case, which was nothing new since you've been on the case since the very beginning. It seemed that this meeting was mostly for the newcomers, such as Heizou – who appeared to be listening intently for once. Still, you made sure to listen closely and took notes diligently. Your excitement was still there; you truly couldn't wait to solve this.
"As I mentioned in our first meeting, we will work in teams as soon as we arrive on Dragonspine," the Doushin spoke, and suddenly you were all ears.
Your eyes quickly went over all the detectives present, making mental notes on who you did and didn't want to be paired up with. As soon as your eyes landed on Shikanoin Heizou, a weird feeling bloomed in the pit of your stomach. You didn't understand what it meant, but you guessed you were simply anxious to end up in a team with him. You definitely did not want that.
The man in front of the room started calling names to announce the set teams. Your name didn't fall off his lips for quite some time, and more and more detectives were teamed up. Much to your horror, Heizou's name also wasn't called, and your heart was beating nervously as seconds passed by slowly. Six others left, four, two… This wasn't good.
"Heizou and Y/N, you are the last team for this expedition, and you two will function as the lead detectives for…"
Your nightmare came true. You felt everything around you crumbling down as you stared at the cherry-haired male in horror. Really? He was your assigned partner? Out of everyone who was on this case? Was fate really that cruel? You nearly groaned out loud, pressing your lips in a thin line. The excitement you felt towards this case went down the drain completely. You were stuck with him and you hated it.
You refused to look at him, and for what remained of the meeting you didn't acknowledge him at all. It all went by in a blur, your notepad was untouched once again – you hated how it always seemed to work out that way ever since Heizou got involved. He distracted you, he made you act out of character, and you truly wondered why he had such an influence on you. It was unfair; you disliked him, yet it seemed that fate wanted the two of you to be involved without escape.
It took a lot of effort to sit through the last part of the meeting, but as the Doushin spoke his final words you patiently waited for everyone to leave the room and walked up to the front.
"Can I request to switch partners?" you asked, your voice almost sounding like a plea. "I'm sure it will benefit my results if I could work with someone else."
That wasn't even a lie.
"You two are our top detectives, we need you to work as a team for optimal results," the old man replied, shaking his head. "I can't have you switch partners. Is there a problem?"
Your stomach dropped. Was he for real?
     "No, sir," you forced out.
With gritted teeth, you accepted your fate and left the room. Outside you ran into the person you wanted to see the least, and you mentally cursed him as you made your way to walk past him.
"You wanted to switch partners?" the male asked, pressing a hand to his chest exaggeratedly. "Ouch, that hurts."
Despite his act, you could see a hint of real pain on his features, and you felt a pang of guilt. Maybe it was unfair for him to let a personal matter get in the way of business, you realized. As you thought about it, he didn't necessarily do anything wrong to you, did he? He just had a knack for pissing you off, but you were sure it wasn't on purpose.
"It's whatever," you murmured, brushing past him. "Let's not be in each other's way and solve this case to our best abilities."
You realized it was hypocritical to blame him for not taking anything seriously when you also let your irritation towards him get in the way of your detective work. You both had to step up your game and deliver your best performance.
If you had to be nicer to him in order to achieve that, then so be it. It was time to stop being so petty. After all, you could do nothing but accept the situation, so you better make the most of it.
                    ✧✧✧
Finally the day was there. You arrived in Mondstadt yesterday, spending a night in a camp near the icy mountain that stood tall and threatening. Today you would go up the mountain and scourge the area for clues that would hopefully lead to the main suspect. You felt thrilled, spurred on by the chilly air that blew over the barren wildlands at the foot of the mountain.
The entire team was getting ready, donning themselves in winter coats, scarfs, gloves, and sturdy boots stuffed with fluffy wool. You were already wrapped in warmth and ready to go, but you had to wait until everyone was ready to depart. For safety reasons, they said, which didn't make a lot of sense to you since everyone would scatter on the mountain anyway. l
You tried to mentally prepare yourself, to clear your mind and get ready for a tough investigation. It wouldn't be easy to find clues under such difficult circumstances as they were on Dragonspine, and you hoped the experience as a detective you had built up in Inazuma was enough to help you here. Preparing yourself proved to be a little difficult, now that you found out that Shikanoin Heizou looked pretty cute in a cozy winter coat. You decided not to glance in his direction too much, for thoughts like those weren't welcome in your mind. Not now, not ever.
But he was still adamant on getting your attention, despite the rough encounter in the hallway after the second meeting – which also happened to be your last interaction before you departed to Mondstadt.
He seemed unfazed when he stepped in front of you, hoisting a heavy-looking backpack with camping equipment on his back, but you had gotten quite good at reading people and you could see the aversion in his green eyes.
"Are you good to go?" he asked.
He was hesitant to talk to you, you could tell that much. You felt a pang of guilt. Maybe Heizou had a talent of annoying the shit out of you, you still had been too harsh on him. You two had to work together now, so it was better if you accepted him as he was. The upcoming days would be important, and messing up wasn't an option.
     "I am," you replied. "You?"
"As ready as I'll ever be," Heizou said, offering you a stupidly charming smile. "I'm psyched, I can't wait to solve this case."
     "Me neither," you stated.
You listened together as the group went over the final details. Once again it was emphasized how important it was to stick together at all cost, and you weren't looking forward to being stuck with Heizou all the time but you knew there was no way out. Maybe it would actually work out, two top detectives working together despite one disliking the other. You just had to stay professional and not let your pettiness get in the way of your investigation.
It didn't take long for everyone to finish preparing for this particularly cold investigation, and soon everyone was good to go. Nervousness buzzed in the air, and the tension was palpable. Not only was this case already pretty dangerous on its own, since the suspect wasn't exactly a nice guy, the circumstances on Dragonspine would make it far worse. The inhospitable mountain was treacherous, with many dangers lurking beneath the alluring decor of shimmering snow and ice.
You glanced at the top of the mountain and swallowed. The top wasn't even visible, hidden from view by thick whirls of clouds. It was so high, and you would have to climb up there if you didn't want to miss a single clue.
"Does the mountain intimidate you?" Heizou asked, following your restless gaze.
What is it to you, you almost answered, but you didn't say it out loud. Your inner thoughts had yet to get used to the idea of being nicer to the prodigy detective. You flashed the male a troubled look instead and answered honestly.
"It does," you admitted. "Is it obvious?"
"To me it is," the cherry-haired replied. "It's okay, though. I'm a bit nervous to go up there too. But hey, you're not alone, I'm with you."
That's part of the problem, you bitterly thought, but you didn't quite believe in those words, as if they spoke of a truth that was no longer relevant. He offered you a grin and you looked at him in awe. Why was he so nice to you? And why weren't you repulsed by it?
     "Yeah," you muttered dismissively.
And then it was time to leave the safety of the camp. Time to venture deeper into the merciless cold. You tightened your scarf and followed the group as they moved towards the mountain. Everyone was silent, and the only sound that resonated was the sound of boots stomping over the crisp snow. You were solely focused on your surroundings, both to find clues as well as to memorize the path you took through the frostbitten landscape. Heizou seemed to do the same, his eyes scanning the wildlands that surrounded you eagerly.
It was beautiful, as if you entered the world of a true fairytale. Solemn pines stood tall, thick layers of snow covering the branches and the underbrush below. Brave winter flowers bloomed here and there, their meek colors peeking through the carpet of pure white reluctantly. The sky was gray and motionless, the sun invisible, and only the flurry of snowflakes that fluttered down brought some life to the silence of Mother Nature. The wind was icy, nipping at the few spots of skin that remained exposed teasingly. It was so cold, and you started to understand why not everyone dared to set foot on the mountain. Dragonspine was merciless as it greeted adventurers with its icy beauty.
After what felt like hours of walking, you reached the central camp that was set up for the team of detectives. From this point, the various teams would spread over the mountain and search for evidence. You had been excited beforehand, but your motivation to solve this case had diminished rapidly. It was so cold, it felt like a snowstorm had the landscape in its grip, the chilly win tugging on your hair and biting at your cheeks. You were exhausted, and wanted nothing but to flop down onto something that was remotely comfortable.
"I want to set up our camp a little higher," Heizou stated suddenly, pointing at the map he showed you. "Looks like there's already a small camp here, and my intuition tells me that we might find something interesting here."
You looked at him incredulously. Was he for real? He wanted to travel up the mountain even further? Away from the central camp? You didn't like it one bit, but you knew to never take a detective's intuition in doubt. Hesitantly, you agreed and followed your companion as he strayed away from the others. At least someone was still motivated to solve this, you thought.
You had no idea how long it took to reach the camp the cherry-haired detective mentioned, but if you were exhausted before, you really felt like you were about to collapse any minute. Though he had persevered bravely until now, Heizou didn't look any better.
He was obviously as tired as you were, his eyes dull and his movements a bit sluggish. There was a thin layer of snow resting on his shoulders and hood, and where the wind had bitten his exposed skin, it was bright red. His breaths came out labored, and they escaped in tiny clouds that whirled up higher and higher until they dispersed.
"Whew, we're here," he remarked, laughing tiredly.
"I hope you're happy now," you murmured. Your attempts to be nicer to him were forgotten, and you were kind of salty at him now that he made you walk so much.
"Let's take it easy for now," the male suggested, ignoring your comment. "You set up the camp and I'll look around to see if I can find anything that indicates our suspect might be near."
Oh right, the suspect. The guy who was labeled as dangerous, not afraid to use violence. You suddenly realized that you were on the same mountain as exactly that man, and the thought made you shudder. You had seen the trial of misery he left behind, you knew what he was capable of. It wasn't pretty. You were dealing with a wanted criminal here, who would go through great lengths to escape the authorities.
"You're scared," Heizou pointed out. There was nothing mocking about his tone, he was simply stating an observation he made.
"Well, this man is the real deal, you know," you sighed. "And we're in his vicinity, I can feel it."
"Criminals who don't want to get caught usually don't attack first," the male reassured you. "But I'll keep watch tonight, and if he tries something funny, I have a Vision. I'll protect us."
You didn't know how he achieved it, but his words made you feel safe. Maybe he was annoying at times, but Shikanoin Heizou was slowly proving himself to be a reliable companion out here on the icy mountain.
"You're right," you answered, and for the first time you offered him a smile. "Go ahead then, I'll set up the camp. Let me know if you find something."
He looked genuinely surprised, but then he gladly reciprocated the smile before both of you got to work. You grabbed Heizou's backpack, and couldn't help the groan that escaped your lips. It was super heavy. You suddenly felt bad for letting him carry it all the way, and mentally promised him that you would take it on the way back.
Setting up a camp wasn't all that hard. The only thing that made it a bit challenging was your tiredness, but all with all you managed to do it quite quickly. Most of it was thanks to the permanent tents that stood here and there, free to use for adventurers – and now detectives. You only had to cover the tent a bit more and put down your sleeping bags onto the bed of straw.
"There's nothing to see," Heizou stated after reuniting with you, right when you were trying to start a little campfire.
"So your intuition was wrong?" you asked lightly, and you couldn't help the slight teasing tone in your voice.
"I'm too tired for that right now," the detective complained, squatting down next to you. "I really hope I won't accidentally fall asleep while keeping watch."
"You said it's safe. I trust you, so you can go to sleep if you want," you simply said. "Say, why don't you have a pyro Vision? That would be so useful right now."
"Hey, nothing wrong with anemo," the male countered, feigning offense. "You just don't know how to start a fire. Here, allow me."
Soon, a cozy fire sat in front of you. You relished in the warmth that radiated off of it, and you closed your eyes in relief. Finally your long day was over. Finally you could rest. The crackling of the sparks that flew up high cast a soothing sound through the eerie silence, and for a moment it felt like an ordinary camping trip instead of a dangerous mission. You sat like that for a while, listening to Heizou as he told you about peculiar cases he had worked on in the past. Some of his stories were downright funny and absurd and you found yourself laughing out loud more than once.
Camping with Heizou wasn't all that bad, you decided.
"Have you ever heard of the case of the vengeful spirit of Dragonspine? It all happened on a dark, snowy night," he spoke, lowering his voice.
A vengeful spirit? You shuddered at the thought. Why did he suddenly switch to scary stories? You had felt so cozy while listening to everything he told you and now you suddenly felt goosebumps running over your skin.
"No thanks, I'll pass," you huffed, shrugging off your boots and getting into your sleeping bag. "If you're going to start telling ghost stories, it's time for me to sleep. Goodnight."
Heizou laughed, bright and melodic.
     "Goodnight, Y/N."
You had expected to feel scared as you tried to sleep. After all, you were out in the open in the barren lands on an unknown mountain that harbored many dangers and hazards. Yet, the feeling of anxiety wasn't there at all. You were a bit restless, probably too tired to fall asleep properly, but that was all. It was because of the cherry-haired male, you realized. He was watching over you, making sure harm would stay away.
Maybe you finally started to warm up to him.
                    ✧✧✧
Dragonspine was truly beautiful in the meek morning sunshine. The faint rays of light that peeked through the thick pack of gray clouds bathed the icy landscape in a faint glow, and the sunkissed snow glittered prettily. The weak didn't do much to bring warmth to the cold air but it was still very welcome to add a bit of life to the barren surroundings.
Everything around you seemed to be covered in at least a thin layer of snow, and the snowflakes that fluttered down from the sky above brought forth even more of the fresh white that fell upon everything in its wake. It was making it hard – or nearly impossible – to find anything related to the man you were looking for. Every trace that was left behind ended up covered by snow in the blink of an eye, and there wasn't much left to find.
You sat squatted down at a small abandoned camp near the one you slept in, trying to find anything that hinted at recent use, but it wasn't much to your surprise that you found nothing. It had been going on like that all morning, and you slowly started to grow frustrated.
Heizou, who was searching a little distance away from you, got up and cursed under his breath. He pulled off his hood, raking a gloved hand through his cherry hair with a groan.
"The snow is covering up literally everything," he lamented, walking over to you. "I hate to admit it, but the suspect has the advantage now."
"Are you for once having trouble finding anything?" you joked lightly, partly to cope with your own feeling of hopelessness.
"Very funny," Heizou deadpanned, giving you a pointed look. "I never struggle with my investigation, but this mountain is truly giving me a hard time."
There it was again, the prodigy detective being full of himself. You wanted to heave out a sigh but kept yourself from actually doing so. It was simply how he was, and you shouldn't attack him for that – and on top of that, you totally understood his frustration.
"Do you think we should take a little break?" you suggested, but the other detective resolutely shook his head.
"I don't see how that will benefit us," he reasoned. "I have this nagging feeling that something is going to happen and I don't want to rest until I figure it out."
You nodded in understanding. Once a detective's intuition kicked in, they refused to take a break, which made perfect sense; you couldn't simply ignore your gut feeling, especially when it was so often right. One of the things you had learned about Heizou before you actually met him was how he was known for his keen intuition, so of course he trusted it blindly. Your intuition, however, was suspiciously quiet, so you got up and dusted the thin layers of snow off your coat.
"I get it," you replied, straightening your form. "I hope you don't mind but I'm gonna take a break."
"Be careful," Heizou warned. "I don't trust this."
There was a frown on his features as he glanced around and you felt a tinge of anxiety in your stomach. He was awfully serious as his eyes nervously skimmed over his surroundings. Something was off, and it was as if your own gut feeling finally caught up.
"Okay, maybe I'll just stay close to you," you said, your voice small. There was a shift in the atmosphere, it was palpable and it put you on edge.
What exactly happened? Last time you checked you were simply bummed because the snow covered up all the possible traces that you needed to get closer to your suspect, and suddenly anxiety had started to stir in the pit of your stomach. Heizou had decided he didn't trust it, and his nervousness was contagious.
Wasn't it funny? You went from disliking the male to fully trusting his intuition, and all in the span of the less-than-24 hours you spent on this mountain.
"I like that a lot better," the cherry-haired male muttered. "Let's go back to our camp. Maybe I can use a little break after all, to think this over."
You felt a little relieved, now that he agreed on taking a break with you. All the talking about something that was supposedly about to happen had creeped you out and you felt too nervous to stay behind on your own. They had told you how dangerous it was, they repeated it multiple times, but it was as if you only now realized the weight of those words. This mountain was not to be trusted, nor was the man you were after.
"Right," you agreed, and you followed right behind the detective as he trudged through the snow.
You could see he had a lot on his mind; he even forgot to glance around to keep an eye on his surroundings. You knew it all too well, having an ominous feeling in the pit of your stomach, an omen that foretold that something was about to happen. It was often right, but never was it clear what would happen. Heizou was anxious, but he fell into the trap and got caught up in his own thoughts instead of keeping his mind clear.
But your mind was also clouded, and the sudden downfall of snowflakes obscured your sight. You didn't see much at all, and you kept your eyes focused on Heizou's back as you followed him silently. It wasn't much of a walk to get back to the camp, but with the thick layer of snow covering the ground it felt like a whole hike.
Suddenly you lost your footing, the sole of your boot slipping away over the slippery ice hidden underneath the layer of snow. Your surroundings spun as you fell to the ground, and you shrieked when a sharp pain shot through your ankle. You collided with the ground with a force that knocked the wind out of your lungs and you gasped for air frantically, tears pricking in your eyes.
Heizou was next to you within a heartbeat, falling to his knees to check up on you without a second thought.
"Y/N, are you alright?" he hurriedly asked, worry etched onto his features.
You groaned in misery as your hands clasped around your ankle, but it did little to nothing to soothe the pain. When you finally managed to breathe properly again you still struggled to speak up because it hurt so damn much. So you just shook your head, gritting your teeth to keep yourself from moaning in pain.
Heizou cursed under his breath, and for a moment he looked utterly helpless as he witnessed you writhe in pain. But he seemed to recollect himself as he leaned over you, gently slipping his arms underneath your knees and shoulders. You stiffened, gazing at the star detective with wide eyes. Even now, with bolts of hot pain shooting through your leg and foot, the crimson that dusted your cheeks was inevitable. He picked you up bridal-style with surprisingly much ease and it really amazed you how strong the male was – despite looking quite frail, not gonna lie.
"I hope you don't mind, Y/N," he apologized, offering you an awkward smile. "I need to get you back to our camp to check your ankle properly."
"N-No, go ahead," you replied, and you couldn't bear to look him in the eyes any longer. Not when it was so obvious how utterly flushed both of you were.
Your heart was beating rapidly, but you blamed it on the pain that surged through your ankle and the shock that came with suddenly falling. It surely had nothing to do with the fact that a stupidly pretty detective was carrying you through the fairytale-like landscape, his green eyes never leaving your face. Every time your face contorted in pain, he frowned – it seemed that he was really worried about you, and it made you feel bad for being so quick to judge him at first.
Once he safely brought you to your shared camp, he lowered you onto his sleeping bag as gently as he could.
It didn't take long to find out that your ankle was sprained pretty badly, and you started to realize that the pain wouldn't just go away magically within a few minutes. No, this would take a good while to heal. To your horror, Heizou had pointed out that you most likely wouldn't be able to continue your investigation in your current shape, and your mood was grim.
"This isn't good, Y/N," Heizou told you, his eyes flickering away from your ankle to meet yours. "We don't have the right supplies for this, so we have to go back to the central camp."
"You're probably right," you muttered in defeat. "But what about our investigation?"
"I don't know about you, but my priorities shifted," the detective spoke resolutely. He moved around a little, so that his back was facing you. "We're leaving immediately, hop on."
You stared at the male's back incredulously. Was he for real? What happened to the awkward interactions? The aversion, the dismay you felt towards him, his urge to show his very best with every case he was working on? Did it all just go down the drain? Something had changed between the two of you, that wasn't hard to tell. But what exactly was it? You felt more opposed the longer you stared at his back, but at the same time the idea sounded kind of inviting.
You gave in with a sigh, timidly placing your hands on his shoulders as he hoisted you further up his back. A little wobbly, he rose to his feet and rested his hands under your thighs to keep you in place as he started walking. You clung to his back for dear life, finding it incredibly hard to relax in your current position, but after a while you came to find it wasn't as bad as you thought. Actually, you were kind of comfortable up there, despite the pain you were currently in. Alright, you were blushing like a madman because you were so close to him but that was totally besides the point. After a while you even dared to rest your chin atop his shoulder as you went along with the cadence of his footsteps, and the detective didn't seem to mind.
"I knew something bad was going to happen," the cherry-haired male sighed as he carried you through the snow.
"Shikanoin Heizou's intuition was proven right once more," you said, scrunching up your nose as his hair tickled your cheek.
"I told you, I'm always right," Heizou replied, and you could hear the faint smirk in his voice. But then he added, "I just had no idea it would involve you getting hurt," and you could tell the grin had vanished again.
It was quite a walk to get to the central camp, and you felt bad for Heizou, seeing how he had to carry you through the capricious snowy wildlands. You could tell he was getting tired, his pace slowed and his breathing got heavier, and he had to stop and hoist you up more and more often. Yeah, you felt really bad, but you knew you couldn't help it. You both simply had to endure it until you got to the camp.
"Alright, we're here," the detective announced after what felt like hours of walking, letting you down with a groan.
He had placed you under the blue canvas covers of one of the tents, blissfully out of reach of the snowflakes that fluttered down from the gray cloudy sky. They pestered you the entire hike back to the camp, to a point where your cheeks were red and frostbitten. There was a campfire right in front of the open part of the tent, and you basked in the warmth that radiated off of it. Now all that brought you discomfort was the everlasting pain in your ankle, and you winced when you tried to change your position.
"Alright, wait here. Let me get the first-aid kit from that adventurer over there. I'll fix you up," the detective announced, straightening his composure and walking off.
As if I'm going anywhere, you bitterly thought.
You were stuck in a damn camp on Dragonspine, not able to participate in this important investigation any longer. The Tenryou Commission had expected great things from you and your assigned partner, but you messed up and failed because of a stupid accident.
There was no one inside the camp, aside from a few members of the Adventurer's Guild, Heizou, and you. All the other detectives were out, searching for clues that would lead them to the culprit. Your mood fell sour even more. You had been beyond excited to work on this case – Archons, you even accepted Shikanoin Heizou as your partner despite the irritation you used to feel towards him. But it was game over for you.
"You don't look very happy," the detective commented as he placed the first-aid kit next to you. "How are you feeling?"
"No shit," you reacted, fighting the urge to roll your eyes and respond with a snarky remark. "I'm in pain and I can't continue our work. I feel like crap."
Your tone was quite harsh, for the frustration and sheer disappointment you felt were overflowing. But Heizou didn't seem to mind. If anything, he gave you a look of understanding as he quietly got to work on your ankle. It was already red and swollen, throbbing painfully. As much of a relief as it was when the detective removed your boot, you now felt like crying and cursing every time his tentative fingertips put pressure on your skin as he wrapped a bandage around your injured foot. It was sprained badly, it seemed, and it didn't matter how gentle Heizou tried to be.
"At least it won't be hard to apply an ice pack to your ankle with all this snow around," the cherry-haired male remarked, his eyes skimming over the bandages to make sure everything was secure.
"Oh, right, let me just stick my ankle into the snow, I'm sure it will help," you replied bitterly. You knew he was only joking, but you weren't in the mood for that.
"Someone gets a little irritable," Heizou pointed out, setting the first-aid kit aside and flopping down next to you. His arm ghosted past yours – that's how close he was to you – and your heart skipped a beat.
"I just started warming up to you," you warned him, ignoring the blush that crept up your cheeks as you shot him a sharp look. "Don't become an annoying ass again."
Everything you said came out a lot meaner than you intended and you felt a tinge of guilt. You felt pretty miserable but you knew it wasn't fair at all to take it out on the star detective, who had been nothing but nice to you ever since you arrived on Dragonspine. Even now, when there was an important case to solve, he took his time to take care of you instead.
"I'm sorry," you muttered. "I guess it's the pain and the disappointment that drive me a little crazy. I really appreciate what you're doing for me."
But Heizou only shot you a grin, a surprisingly smug one at that. His green eyes twinkled mischievously as he reached out, placing his gloved thumb under your chin.
"Oh? You started warming up to me?" he lightly questioned you, lowering his voice. "I'm glad to hear that, Y/N."
You forgot all that had been on your mind previously. It went blank, no thoughts and head empty, and you were on the brink of freaking out because Heizou was looking at you like that, with his stupidly charming smile and his green eyes with those pretty moles underneath them – Archons, he was handsome. It was unfair how much of an effect he seemed to have on you, and you tried to calm your frantic heartbeat.
Mission impossible.
Heizou chuckled, slowly withdrawing his finger and leaning back. You relaxed a little, but you were fully aware of the furious blush on your cheeks and you refused to look at him. What in Celestia's name was he doing? Barely a few days ago he was pissing you off so badly, but things changed and you were slowly being drawn in by his charms. Oh no, that wasn't part of the plan.
"Don't make me regret it," you huffed out, shifting your position while trying not to move your ankle. Your mind was still foggy; what just happened?
You knew you dropped the disliking you had felt towards him, but you were supposed to simply tolerate him for your current investigation and nothing more than that. This wasn't supposed to happen. This was bad. You shouldn't be into him.
It was cold on Dragonspine, but you felt warm on the inside when he smiled at you. Archons, this wasn't good.
The two of you sat in silence for a good while. You glanced around, taking in as much of your beautiful surroundings as you could while trying to ignore the throbbing pain in your ankle. Heizou finally gave you a break and was currently immersed in some notes other detectives took while investigating. People arrived at the camp all day long, whether it was to stock up on food and water or to exchange notes with the other detectives, before they left again. You witnessed it all, full of bitterness since you could no longer partake.
     "Heizou?" you called out.
"Hm?" the detective vaguely replied, glancing up from his notes.
"Shouldn't you…" you started, not quite sure how to phrase it. "Shouldn't you go up the mountain again? To continue investigating there?"
The cherry-haired male resolutely shook his head.
"And leave you alone? No way. Didn't they say that assigned partners should stick together at all costs?"
It didn't add up. You knew Heizou always preferred to work alone, to be able to operate without the risk of being held back by others, relying on no one but his own intuition. And here he was, refusing to get back to work because you were unable to participate. That was not like him at all. What was it that made him act so out of character? You didn't know him that well but you deemed him the type to ignore the dire call to stick together with much ease, yet here he was.
"Are you sure?" you asked meekly.
He simply nodded.
Heizou stayed true to his words, and remained by your side until the very first trip back to Inazuma. You were surprised, to say the least. He took care of you, spent a lot of time talking to you and seemed quite content to do so, he barely left your side even when others came to him for help – you knew he didn't really like having to work together so this didn't surprise you all that much.
On the boat back to Inazuma, as you swayed along with the cadence of the gentle waves, you came to a conclusion. You and Heizou had a rough start, he didn't necessarily show you his best side but he made up for that big time.
Shikanoin Heizou was a nice guy behind that mask of big ego he wore. You realized how much you got drawn to him during your time on Dragonspine, and there was no longer a point in denying it.
You had fallen for the Tenryou Commission's prodigy detective.
               ✧✧✧
You still walked with a limp in your step as you strolled through the streets of Inazuma City, even though it was already a while ago that you got back from your expedition to the icy mountain, where it all happened.
Said adventure didn't go well for you at all. You barely lasted a day on Dragonspine before an unfortunate accident put an end to your usual productivity and you spent the remaining days stuck in a camp – you didn't like it one bit and it was pleasant to be back home.
It wasn't all for nothing, though. Next to you walked a certain cherry-haired detective, who hardly left your side ever since you got back. You didn't realize how close you had gotten over the time you spent on the mountain, but it got to a point where holding hands became a regular thing. The feeling of the palm of his hand against yours, the pads of his fingers ghosting over your knuckles, it all felt so much better without those padded gloves in the way.
The downside was that you could blame the cold no longer for the crimson that crept up your cheeks more than once. Getting closer to Heizou also meant being the victim of his merciless flirting way more often, but you secretly didn't mind all that much.
Wasn't it funny how things worked out? You thought back to how you disliked him, how you had even begged your superior to let you switch partners because you refused to work with him. Now you were grateful that he refused your plea. None of this would have happened, you wouldn't have this sweet and handsome – and incredibly flirty – detective next to you.
You didn't like that thought at all.
"Does walking still hurt?" Heizou inquired, giving you a sideways glance. He didn't miss the way you were still limping, and his arm flew up to support you.
"A little," you truthfully replied. "But I'm fine."
But your grimace gave you away immediately, and Heizou shook his head as he gently urged you towards a wooden bench along the path. You wouldn't admit it on your own accord, but you were more than happy to give your ankle a little break.
"I know the doctor said you can carefully put some weight on your ankle again, but that doesn't mean you can walk around like nothing ever happened," the star detective lightly scolded you.
You smiled sheepishly. Sitting still and doing nothing wasn't something you were good at, and the past few weeks had been a real challenge to you. Even with the detective often coming over to your house, it was still bothersome and your own house had become your confinement. You were so glad to finally be out, and you could probably take on light detective jobs soon.
"I just can't help it," you sighed. "I'm so happy to be outside again. It feels like I've been locked up for ages."
"You're adorable," Heizou commented, giving you a fond look. It seemed completely out of the blue, but that was a regular thing for the prodigy detective.
You averted your gaze, finding a recent newspaper next to you on the bench. You reached out to take it in your hands, seeing how it was a nice distraction from the effect the male's remarks had on you. The headline on the front page instantly caught your eye.
Suspect found, arrested, and proven guilty in the Dragonspine case, it read, and you presented it to the cherry-haired male next to you.
"It could've been you, Heizou," you said softly. "You could've been the one who caught him."
Heizou's green eyes scanned the news article quickly, a frown settling on his brows as he read the latest updates on the case he once worked on. It was quite a lengthy article and you weren't sure whether or not he was reading it, so you held up the newspaper awkwardly until he averted his gaze.
"Took them long enough," he muttered, his eyes finding yours. "It could have been me, and believe me, I would have done it a lot faster. But it wasn't me and that's only because I stepped back to stay with you."
You pursed your lips. Even now, after being back in Inazuma for two weeks, you still felt really bad about that. You felt like you ruined it for him, no matter how many times he reassured you that it was fine.
     "I'm sorry," you sighed.
The male's next move stilled your apology. He leaned towards you, gently taking the newspaper from your hands and putting it down onto the bench. Then he reached up, bringing his hands to cup your cheeks ever so gently. You froze, eyes widening as your heartbeat hit a way too high level. He was close, so close, and he looked at you so solemnly and you were mesmerized.
"Y/N, listen," he spoke slowly – wait, were you just imagining things or were his cheeks dusted pink?"As I said before, I regret nothing. After all, I found something way more valuable than a wanted criminal."
"What is it?" you whispered, unable to look away.
You were out on the streets of Inazuma, people were walking around and you were definitely being seen by everyone, but you hardly noticed and were simply too caught up in the moment.
Then Heizou flashed you a cheeky grin, closed the last remaining distance between you two, and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
     "Love," he replied, smiling.
Then he let go of you, and he got up from the bench before walking away, a light skip in his step. You were far from okay, completely taken aback by what just happened. There was pure static in your mind, your heart set a frantic drum beat rhythm in your chest. Did Heizou really just kiss you?
You knew something had been building up between the two of you, but you hadn't realized that it would lead to this.
You were in no shape to chase him so you just sat there, utterly stupefied. It felt like you were afloat somewhere on cloud nine. Weeks ago you disliked the male, but it seemed that a lot had changed between the detective and you and it wasn't just you – he knew it too.
Stupid ankle, you thought. You wanted nothing but to follow after him immediately, but you stood no chance and you suspected that it was all part of his plan.
You truly couldn't wait to see him again. Who knew what would come from it?

when someone else flirts with you in front of them.

heizou, wanderer, neuvillette ♡ gn!reader
warnings: not proofread, neuvillette may be ooc, wanderer is a little crazy 😊
notes: i played heizous hangout quest and he got me 😭😭
Tumblr media
frankly, heizou is amused.
"you're beautiful," some random stranger states, "do you happen to be free this weekend?"
you blink in confusion, glancing back and forth between the detective and the strange person. does he not see the way heizou's hand is linked with yours?
"well, someone clearly isn't a detective," heizou states, not bothering to lower the volume of his voice. when the person still doesn't quite understand what heizou means, he lifts your laced hands up to eye-level, emphasizing the fact that he's not letting go anytime soon.
"please don't interrupt," the stranger states, suddenly feigning ignorance to heizou's presence.
"oh!" heizou exclaims, unbothered. "sorry about that!" you can tell by the look on his face and the tone of his voice that shikanoin heizou is, in fact, not sorry. he's not sorry at all.
heizou brings the back of your hand up to his lips, staring directly at the stranger whilst doing so. still, the random man does not budge.
"what's up with this guy?" heizou mumbles, loud enough for just you to hear. you laugh, and heizou can't seem to tear his eyes away from you, his gaze belonging wholly to your existence.
when the stranger glares at him, heizou merely shrugs, a smirk fixed onto his face. the oblivious person then turns to you, a gentle smile on his face.
"might i have the honor of knowing your name? i am kenzaburou kadenokouji, and seeing you has blessed me with the inspiration to write my greatest upcoming novel: 'i was reincarnated as the raiden shogun's plane of euthymia, where i did nothing for 500 years before finally meeting the love of my life in the middle of the city?!'"
your mouth hangs agape, flabbergasted at this surreal experience.
heizou, however, is not fazed in the slightest. "is this based off of true events?"
"do not interrupt an artist's craft," kadenokouji replies, before extending a hand towards your free one.
so he knows i'm holding their hand, is all heizou thinks. without another thought, the detective pushes the writer's palm away, tugging you towards him.
"you're going to need to find inspiration from someone else! my intuition tells me that this isn't going to work out," heizou declares, his thumb coming to rub the back of your hand, as if he's trying to reassure you.
(you think that it's more for him, though. because although heizou is a self-assured, confident man, he is sometimes shrouded deeply in fear, swayed by the same emotions that make him so human, so lovely.)
(it also doesn't help that you adore novels. a majority of heizou's worries are attributed to how you devour those absurd reincarnation stories.)
"no, no... together," kadenokouji trails off, dismissing heizou with the flick of his hand. "together, we will defy fate! and with you, beautiful stranger, i will publish the greatest novel known to inazuma!"
"he's delusional," heizou mutters, but it sounds as if he's more impressed than incredulous.
"i have a boyfriend," you reply, still recovering from shock. "he's right next to me."
kadenokouji takes it the wrong way. "wow, you move pretty fast! although we just met, and i still don't know your name, i am completely fine with this sudden turn of events!"
"wow," heizou mutters to himself, almost amazed, "this guy's pretty good."
"he's like the opposite of you," you whisper, leaning closer towards heizou, "completely oblivious."
that gives heizou an idea.
"sorry pal, but they only like detectives," he declares.
"that's okay! i've been meaning to write a detective novel, you know, i am always switching things up!" kadenokouji exclaims, not taking the hint (but it's not even a hint, it's a full blown answer).
"oh, really? have you ever heard of shikanoin heizou?"
you and heizou exchange not-so-discreet glances (it's not like kadenokouji notices, anyway). heizou winks at you, as if urging you to stay quiet so he can get the spotlight in a novel that he's always been dreaming of.
"yes, yes! i love doushin shikanoin's work—in fact, i've been meaning to ask him for some information regarding his famous intuition! i plan on basing the main character of that novel off of him, really!"
"that sounds great! you know, doushin shikanoin believes that he needs the publicity, so your novel would be the perfect match!"
"is that really so? that's incredible! i must reach out to him immediately!" kadenokouji says, his attention belonging wholly to this newfound idea.
"i can relay the message to him," heizou replies, "what would you like to ask?"
"yes, thank you! please ask him if he's willing to meet me outside the tenryou commission for an hour or two for me to ask questions! and if he's willing to tell me about his intuition and how it works! my novel's main character will also have something akin to his intuition, but not exactly because i am always original and meaningful with my work—"
"alright, i will!" heizou declares proudly, "he'll hear of it by today!"
"thank you, kind sir! if i might be so bold to inquire, what is your name?" kadenokouji asks, suddenly becoming heizou's biggest fan whilst forgetting about your presence. how the tables have turned.
"shikanoin heizou," he states, the smile on his face never wavering. "my intuition tells me you're going to fall to the floor in utter shock!"
his intuition, as always, is correct. kadenokouji collapses to the floor as if he had just witnessed the most terrible thing, all the color draining from his face while his jaw hangs wide open.
"d-doushin shikanoin?!"
"that's me! also, could you include me in the novel's credits? you know, being a detective isn't always just about skill. in this day and age, we need publicity! we need a name for ourselves!"
kadenokouji faints.
Tumblr media
"did you come from another world?" someone asks. "'cause you look otherworldly."
"that was ridiculous," wanderer mutters, "and redundant."
"is he bothering you, your highness?" the person queries, taking a step towards you. their hand reaches out for yours, as if they're trying to take you away, but wanderer is quick to intervene.
he blocks you with his figure, the vision on his chest beginning to glow vividly as a gust of wind rushes through the akademiya's library, sending papers and books flying. scholars panic as their research projects flutter all across the marble floor, and usually, that'd be enough to deter a sane man.
unfortunately for you, your admirer (the other one) is no sane man. you suppose that you attract a certain group of people.
"so you think you're a big shot 'cause you have a vision, huh?" the stranger asks, unimpressed.
"hah! you don't even know who you're talking to," wanderer replies, clenching his fists. he takes a step toward your admirer, the air around him becoming tense and unwelcoming as it begins to manifest into something grim, something violent.
you're not in the mood for a suspension right now.
"wanderer!" you exclaim, tugging at his sleeve. "let's go somewhere else. this guy's just weird."
"you go first. i have things to deal with," wanderer replies, irritated. but the way he looks at you doesn't quite match the tone in his voice, because when the wanderer's cornflower pupils fixate on you, they melt. you mold him into something quiet, something lovely, when you do so much as exist.
briefly, the wind brushes past your face, kissing you with its tender touch.
(all you have to do is exist, and that'll be more than enough for him.)
"he's not worth your time," you say, not releasing your hold on the puppet's wrist. even though wanderer could easily escape your grip, he chooses not to—instead, he basks in your touch, inching closer towards you, letting you hold the strings of his artificial limbs to move him as you please.
wanderer relinquishes himself to you. wholly. and he trusts you with his fate, with his severed strings.
"whatever."
his severed string manifests anew, wrapping around his pinky and yours, turning red—not red from blood, but rather, from love—and knotting.
you are bound to him.
and then he gives in.
(he does a lot of that when it comes to you.)
"surrendering already, huh?" the stranger asks, clearly not knowing his place. "i knew you were nothing but bark."
oh, you think, sighing, this guy's an idiot!
"does the akademiya accept anyone who applies?" wanderer asks, contemplating murder. still, he doesn't release himself from your hold.
"that's what i was thinking when i saw you. leave us alone!"
a category 5 hurricane begins to brew in the akademiya library at the word "us." scholars begin to evacuate the premises whilst the insane man stands amidst it all, still trying his best to court you despite getting blown away.
i tried my best, you tell yourself, glancing away.
you let go of wanderer's hand, and then you close your eyes.
"let me know when you're done," you mutter, voice drowned by the whistle of the winds and the screams of scholars whose projects are getting engulfed by the storm.
wanderer, of course, hears you. he can always hear you, picking out your voice from the cacophony, taking the sound and placing it deep within his empty chest, letting it resonate and replay there. instead of a heartbeat, wanderer has your voice echoing throughout his torso, fusing into his artificial ribs.
he is bound to you.
a breeze wisps past your nose. even with the whirling winds and the threat of suspension lingering around your figure, no harm ever comes your way.
you are in the eye of the hurricane.
the eye of the beholder. it melts.
Tumblr media
neuvillette is flabbergasted.
back in fontaine, he had the luxury of comfort. everyone knew that the two of you were together, so he never had to deal with someone trying to court you, much less in front of him.
this is how he experiences culture shock. not by the customs of other nations, but rather, by the sheer audacity that some people have. especially when your hand is laced tightly with his.
"i think... i think..." the stranger trails off, his voice filled with an adoration that makes neuvillette's stomach churn. "... i'm getting lost in your eyes, beautiful."
the stranger reaches his hand out to give you a rose, a dashing grin on his face. you smile awkwardly.
"sorry, i'm taken."
"taken... by my good looks?" the stranger asks, putting a hand under his face to emphasize his features. neuvillette squeezes your hand.
"no, they are taken by me. we are partners," neuvillette explains, his tone remaining polite.
"partners in work?"
"yes, but—" neuvillette starts, but is quickly interrupted. you spare him an endearing glance, charmed by his honesty.
the tips of his pointed ears begin to blossom red. again, he squeezes your hand.
"no, we are married," you state blandly, and the stranger's gaze flickers over to your hands, searching for a ring. neuvillette doesn't like the look on the stranger's face; it's evident in the way the iudex narrows his eyes, the way he steps forward a little even though he'd usually try to avoid confrontation.
"i could get you a ring," the stranger says, clearly not getting the hint, "and you wouldn't have to lie about being married."
"there is nothing we owe to you that requires us to prove our marriage. we are married, and that is all you need to know," neuvillette declares firmly, his tone becoming harsh.
"but words alone don't mean anything," the stranger replies with a shrug.
neuvillette furrows his brows, clearly stumped by the stranger's statement. he disagrees—words don't mean everything, but they are definitely worth something.
"just back off," you suddenly chime in, tugging neuvillette closer to you. he lets you string him along to your whims, allowing his figure to inch towards yours, finding its place by your side.
"i'm not interested in you. i already have a lover."
the stranger rolls his eyes.
"ugh. i didn't even like you anyway."
neuvillette frowns. "now that is completely incorrect. just moments prior, you were—"
"just shut up!" the stranger yells, not even bothering to listen to neuvillette's explanation.
clouds begin to form.
"let's go, neuvillette," you say, rubbing the back of the iudex's hand with your thumb. "don't worry too much about that guy."
he looks at you, and the sun emerges.
"you're right. thank you, [name]."
a ring dangles from the silver chain on your neck; it's a vibrant shade of blue.
it glows.
"and you wanted to try this land's water, right?"
he lets you string him along, a gentle smile on his face.
"yes," he vows, "i do."
his hand slots perfectly into yours, and the world is engulfed by a radiant glow.

Even your bandmates have grown tired of your constant bickering with each other. But when your usual practice hub gets flooded, you and the rest of C✧LESTIA are forced to find a new place to rehearse. So when 5WIRL offers to share their studio with you who are you to refuse? Of course, this forces you to spend time with your sworn rival whether you like it or not. But maybe the two of you can overcome your differences and actually be friends?
Or maybe even more?
