One Piece Characters w/ an S/O who celebrates Ramadan

Characters: Luffy, Sanji, Crocodile, Robin

Notes: Muslim!GN!Reader. So yeah, obvy talking about religious beliefs and practices- if those make you uncomfortable please feel free to skip <3

A/n: this is for me and the three other Muslim OP fans here just vibing 😂 cultural notes at the bottom in case you didn't know/just curious about some of the terms here.

Luffy

Absolutely does not get it, I think he has a heart attack hearing the words “no food or water” and does not listen to anything else after.

“WHY CANT WE EAAAAT??? WHAT????”

Blows his mind you would do this… he’s trying his best, poor guy <3

I GOTTA STRESS HE IS TRYING- HE WANTS TO DO THIS WITH YOU

But you know, he’s Luffy, so that means after an hour or two he gives up and just raids the kitchen.

Task failed but you know he’ll always stay up late for iftar and wake up early for suhur.

Sanji

He at first thought you were trying to- god forbid- starve yourself or diet and nearly screamed.

When you explain the reasoning, he’s touched and wants to support you! So that means he’s absolutely doing everything he can to make sure you’re hydrated and getting all the nutrients you can get whenever you can.

He makes you a completely separate dish from the others while you’re working or resting (so your food is fresh and ready when you break your fast!).

Self-indulgent thought he’s so so so on top of things when it comes to your meals in general, he will never put wine or meat in your meals, and he makes to sure clean the area and use separate pans for when he cooks your meals. Absolutely refuses to give you anything that goes against your beliefs (I need him in my life).

Please, he’s buying you dates and getting up with you to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and eating right. Sleep schedule be damned, he’s not messing around with your health!!!!

Crocodile

Now, he’s one of the few who actually knows what Ramadan is- he’s made Alabasta his “home” for a while and has participated in many celebrations or events to keep up appearances.

He kinda just humors you at first like “yeah, yeah, go be spiritual or whatever” and chuckles at you with that sexy voice of his.

But he sees how dedicated you are, maybe sees you reading or praying and okay… his heart kinda melts. He’s never really believed in such things, not finding it useful for him, but seeing you just kinda makes him curious.

Easily can fast alongside you, he just doesn’t make a big deal of it and insists that it’s simply due to him ‘not feeling hungry’ or ‘finding it boring to eat alone’ (sure, sure you big tsun).

Makes sure your chefs are giving you only the best and freshest foods possible- he’s especially harsh about the food when it comes to Ramadan.

I’m trying so hard not to inject my MENA!Croc addled brain into this piece so so hard I AM TRYING OKAY GUYS

But can you imagine him going to the mosque with you or listening to you discuss or read the Quran and he’s just playing it cool but his eyes are so drawn to you and he wonders if you’re an angel and that he really, really does not deserve someone like you because he’s done so many bad things and wheeeeeeze-

Robin

She’s an elegant and refined woman, one who will 100% want to be involved in your traditions.

She finds your beliefs fascinating and takes it upon herself to join you in your Ramadan.

It took her a bit of getting used to, but after a few days, it quickly grew on her.

Robin likes having tea with you during suhur, alongside a few fresh fruits Sanji had gotten. Light meals are best for her and she prefers to enjoy your company and take it easy before the dawn.

She likes to keep track of the days and times of when you two begin and break your fasts- she’ll make sure to keep note of the Shawwal moon so you two (and the rest of the crew) can celebrate the Eid together!

Since it’s a time of reflection, Robin decides to sit quietly and talk about her feelings and experiences with you. She did have some reservations and guilt that she was too “demonic” to celebrate this with you, but through your encouragement, she felt better and continued it alongside you.

Oh, she loves getting the henna done, too. She makes sure to have lots of flowers on her arms and is in love with the patterns.

Cultural Notes:

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, which is based on the lunar cycle- hence why you’ll often see debates on when Ramadan starts/ends or why it begins about a week or two earlier than before, since the lunar calendar is shorter than the solar calendar (or Gregorian, the one we normally use).

Muslims fast for a month from dawn until sunset (there are restrictions of course) so no water or food from that time.

Sahur/Suhur/Suhoor: the meal you eat before the dawn comes.

Iftar: the meal you eat to break your fast at sunset.

Shawwal is the 10th month of the Islamic calendar, so Ramadan ends when you see the Shawwal moon that starts a new month.

Eid: the big celebration that marks the end of Ramadan. Usually you go do a special prayer or have a big gathering with your family and enjoy yourselves.

- he scooted behind you, making himself lose a bit of air so his blown up face was right behind your head, tapping your shoulder with his long arm

- Nah you smacked the shit out of him, screaming as your fists were covered in haki, ready to punch the absolute soul out of him from fear

- Poor dude’s face was swollen for the whole day, and you apologized for hitting him after he said sorry for scaring you.

- One time you pretended you were a sandcastle on the beach and waited for him to get closer before making your face pop out at him

- you’re literally struggling to hold in your tears with blood pouring from your nose (BRO WHEN YOUR NOSE GETS SMACKED IT HURTS)

- he gave you a hug, and let you wear his coat as long as you want since it’s super cozy and fluffy. Also made sandcastles with you while you recovered

- after you felt better, and your nose was finally healed, you both went to the beach again to relax.

- He didn’t like going near the water so he just sat on a chair and watched you find seashells, little sea snails, and other stuff. You brought one back for him, and I swear you’re going to kill the poor guy because of how sweet you are 😭

- he found a mound of sand next to his chair and sighed, you’re trying to prank him again? Didn’t you ever learn?

AU are platonic/queer-platonic, but now (to me at least) they seemed to be portrayed in a more romantic way. It could just be my obsession with timatello tho, so I just want to get my bearings straight (lol). What is Timothy and Donnie’s relationship exactly?

(This might be an overly explained answer—I’m just putting this all out there for any other people who might be thinking to ask me about this as well)

So tldr is, I’ve also gone on record that I haven’t ever 100% made up my mind on most of the boys’ sexualities—It’s just never been my bag, to make a one and done statement regarding this—because some days I might like drawing characters just hanging out, and other days I might want to draw something more romantic or schmoopy.

I’m not at all ragging on people who like to be more on the nose with labels, but to me, when characters are fictional, and you put them in a ridgid box like that, it can kinda take away half the fun of exploring that character in certain situations.

I do get why it’s a big deal for other creators to wanna do this with the characters they wish to see themselves in, but that’s the beauty of fandom—they can draw or write that, if that’s what they want to see! There’s plenty of creators out there who do the whole “these are the labels of this character and I’m gonna write/draw a whole story exploring that” and that’s amazing!

I’m just not that consistent. I’m more just kinda over here, drawing what I feel like—like a little kid debating whether they’re gonna dunk their Barbies in a bucket of ice water for an hour, or if she’s gonna smash their faces together.

Still, I will say— as my final answer to your question —romance probably won’t ever be a huge plot driver in the official EW comic, so people can continue to see EW Donnie however they want—they just might have to ignore the more romantic side sketches. 😂

What a great idea! Let’s get into it!

Alcina:

Sulks. 100%. She is such a sensitive person but won’t admit it.

This woman is a crybaby in my opinion, but only when she’s alone.

She greets you with a big hug and kiss when you return, but her lower lip is always wobbling and in full pout mode.

You have to “prove yourself” to her before she’ll forgive you for leaving. Usually, gifts and cuddles will do the trick.

Alcina expects you to bring her back a souvenir, so you better hope you didn’t forget!

Donna:

She is just so happy you’re back. She hugs you tightly and breathes in your scent.

She’ll make you your favorite meal to welcome you back home. (Mine is pizza rolls, but I think she’d have a fit if I told her that).

You tell her all about your adventures and she listens with rapt attention. She loves a good story.

Angie and the dolls are also very happy you’re back. Nothing like coming home to the wife and “kids”.

Miranda:

While you were gone, Miranda was able to get a lot of things done without having to babysit you 24/7. But, holy crap she’s bored without you.

She is elated that you came back to her.

Miranda always worries in the back of her mind that you will leave and never come back. You always try to reassure her, but she can’t help her nerves.

You wrap Miranda in your arms and hold her tight. You place a kiss to her lips and tell her you missed her so much. Miranda hides her blush by burying her head into your shoulder.

Bela:

Bela is very catlike. She greets you with a cold “hello” and then swarms away.

You raise a confused eyebrow before shaking it off and going upstairs to put your luggage away.

Only minutes later do you feel someone tugging on the back of your shirt as you put your clothes in your closet. You turn around and Bela tugs you to the bed and curls on top of you.

You start laughing, but Bela softly pops you on the shoulder and hides her face in the crook of your neck. She missed you terribly, but is unsure how to say this. You, however, pick up on it fairly quickly.

Cassandra:

Cass is also catlike, however, she likes to cuddle with you immediately. She rubs her face against you so that you smell like her.

Always one to mark and claim what’s hers, she won’t let you out of her sight for the first few hours after you return.

When you show her that you got her a present, she doesn’t even open it. Instead, she hides it away in her stash of favorite things.

You question her, but she shrugs it off as totally normal… It’s kinda not normal, tho. Cass must think she’s part dragon (Ha, like Alcina!) and has to hoard her most prized possessions.

Daniela:

She damn near tackles you when you first go in the castle. Thankfully you catch her before you both fall to the ground.

She also expects souvenirs. She says it’s romantic. She doesn’t really care what you give her, though.

Y/N: For you Dani. Have this $2 scratch-off lottery ticket I got at a dirty gas station near where I was staying!

Dani: *Thrilled, doesn’t even know what a lottery is*

When you get upstairs, Dani immediately initiates sexy times ;)

All in all, she won’t give you attitude. Just aggressive affection and snuggles.

There are more than 100 gods, both small and big, in Igbo Culture, but for some reason, most people don't know anything about them, except probably for one.I think colonialism and the entrance of Christianity are to blame because they made us forget our roots as Africans. But that's a narrative we must work hard to change.Out of the over 100 gods we have, I will be talking about the nine strongest and most popular Igbo gods (Alusi)

also known as ani, ana & ale in numerous dialects, is a female god representing the earth, fertility, creativity, and morality. She is the most respected god in Igboland.

She is considered the wife of Amadioha, the skygod, and commands authority in Igbo land. The symbol of the ala is a python & crescent moon

This is the most popular god in Igboland, and he is the god of thunder & lightning. He is the strongest of all.He is considered a gentleman among the deities and the cruelest when annoyed.Amadioha represents the collective will of the people. A white ram represents him, and his color is red. He is still one of the most feared gods in Igbo land to this day.His shrine can be found in rivers state, Nigeria.

This is the god of strength and war, as its name means "place of strength." It is a horned deity and is one of the most powerful and respected gods in Igboland.The Ikenga can is given a title to men of good reputation, wealth, and integrity.

This is the god of health and divination. This god is one of the basic theological concepts used to explain good and evil, health and sickness, poverty, and wealth in Igbo land.Belief in the deity was widespread, with most villages having some agwu priests, who also doubled as physicians in the land.

This is the goddess of the sun. As is done in almost all ancient religions and traditions, there is always a deity in respect of the sun.It is revered as the goddess that promotes productivity, hard work, and the overall positive well-being of the people.The Igbo kept this deity in high esteem. That's why many households took the name to be their surname.

This is the guardian deity of yam in Igboland. (Yes, yams 😂)In many parts of Igbo land, people did rituals in honor of the goddess of yams, known as ifejioku.She is prayed to for productivity during the farming season.Children who were dedicated to this goddess were called Njoku and were expected to be prosperous in life

The goddess of the ocean & the seas. It is believed to have found the Idemmili community in Anambra state.Its shrine can be found in that community and is one of the oldest shrines in Igbo land.It is a secret shine & the worship of pythons (eke) goes on there. Hence the killing of pythons in that area is forbidden.

I don't think this list will be complete without a god of death.Meaning "the one that kills at night," he is known as the death deity.His victims are said to be criminals and those who have committed abominations in the land, and he is known to kill violently.
