go as an overarching symbol throughout the glory, both figuratively as a representation of dongeun’s revenge, and also as a metaphor for class and relations (between her and the men in her life, i.e. yeojeong and doyeong).

on a relational level, go is a game of seduction. it’s a mental sword dance, so to speak. dongeun learns it with revenge in mind - she plans to catch the interest of doyeong, the husband of the girl who destroyed her life. she uses go to approach him - she seduces him the very first time he sees her play, so much that he can’t get her out of his head. she uses go to entice him; she wins before he even knows that he’s playing.

dongeun learns go for the purposes of ensnaring doyeong, but it’s yeojeong who first teaches her go at all. and it’s go that becomes a cornerstone of their burgeoning relationship as well. throughout the seasons, go helps both of them, as something that centers them, tethers them to current life. for yeojeong, his sessions mentoring dongeun in go were the only thing that created a schedule for him in his most turbulent time (after his father died, etc.). it becomes their mode of communication - he asks her to make a play so that he can know she came by. a silent way of saying i’m alive.

and then there’s dongeun approaching doyeong to play go, then them meeting again at the park he designed. yeojeong also approaches doyeong to play go, also purposefully - the man who taught dongeun vs the man she learned to play for.

but for dongeun, go is never about the men so much as it is about herself. go becomes something she loves for what it is, a game that builds territories, a game where the enemy can be slowly and methodically destroyed as you take all their territories, like how she plans to take everything from yeonjin. it reminds her of the dreams of being an architect she had before she had to drop out of school from the bullying/assault.

doyeong says that one of his go teachers tells him that he was born holding the black stones. when dongeun plays with yeojeong for the first time, she says she has to start with the white stones, since she’s the beginner. that’s how they play, for months. when doyeong meets dongeun after finding out the beginnings of the truth, he says that this game is more difficult than the ones he’s played in the past (and she beats him, the first time they play prior to that meeting).

the black stones represent the upper hand, the wealthy. it’s a class metaphor, especially when related to doyeong. yeojeong also starts out with the black stones, maybe because of wealth, maybe because he’s learned it for far longer. maybe because life was kinder to him. dongeun starts at the bottom, with the white stones, because she has nothing and knows nothing.

but when she places her first stones on the go board, she plays with the black.

By the by in case you're curious, the Batman/Catwoman wedding almost happened in Batman (Volume 3) #50. Apparently Selina left Bruce at the altar for completely bullshit reasons. I haven't read the story myself, but apparently Bane talked Selina into leaving him...? But that's DC for you! Can't let Bruce be happy and get married like Superman! Nope! Not at all! It's a decision that I quite dislike, but DC had better not go back on it now. They made their bed, now they should have to lie in it.

Also bold of you to assume that you would need Bruce to be female for Two-Face to be running around and bragging about how awesome his wife is. I can see Two-Face as being the kind of guy who doesn't give two shits about gender and calls Bruce his 'wife' purely for the shits and giggles. Yes, Bruce is his wife. So what if he's a man? obviously he has her ears and nose but also! May be grasping at straws but! His clothes have a pattern like she does and(correct me if I'm wrong) Kenichi doesn't! Kenichi's are plain with only the reigning Lord of the lands Mon and Mariko's and Jotaro's has a design! Similar in how they both love Kenichi but they also love Usagi! Jotaro wants a father-son relationship with Usagi but not at the cost of one with Kenichi! Mariko has affections for both Kenichi and Usagi but it's pretty obvious her feelings for Usagi run deeper than for Kenichi, but that doesn't mean she doesn't love him! Because for all that she loves Usagi, he didn't love her enough to stay and Kenichi did. Even though Kenichi had to leave the Dogora school in shame he still could've been a retainer to a lord like Usagi but instead he stayed! This man raised her child knowing damn well how he came to be and didn't care! Married her knowing she could never return his feelings with the same fervor!

Jotaro loves his parents and wants to respect all their wishes! This poor fucking kid...

so if im not mistaken those last two diary entries were the first time we had lucy's unfiltered perception on things. before that we only had her letter correspondence with mina and mina's diary entries about her (both filtered through how lucy wants to present herself to mina and how mina sees lucy accordingly).

so im wondering how much of her initial confident 'gonna have a hot girl summer' persona was actually her and not just how she presents herself to people around her. bc those recent diary entries reveal a person who's anxious and a people pleaser (she wants to 'cheer up' when she is clearly feeling horrible just to avoid making arthur miserable) and a person who just doesn't ask for help even when she very much needs it. (she never asked mina for help, mina pretty much offered it herself bc thats how she is, and now that mina is gone, lucy is pretty much left alone against dracula bc neither her mother nor arthur seem to be aware of what's really happening)

i dont think i actually like shipping for like normal shipping reasons im pretty sure i only like ships cause i like seeing boys kiss and girls kiss especially if what they have going on is fucked up and weird
