Batman grunts a greeting at the boy Selena has introduced as "Danny" as if it's totally normal for a kid to be hanging out on a rooftop with her, kicking his legs out above the edge as if he's not 20 stories up.
Selena shares an equally amused glance with Danny that has Batman scowling harder than his usual as the boy gets up, stretching out from his hunch to reveal a 6 foot 2 build not unlike Jason's.
"Wow, spot on," Danny whistles, grinning at Selena. "I owe you a twenty."
"Darling," Selena purrs, hand finding purchase on his upper bicep. "I never exaggerate."
"Looks like Catwoman's got a new scratching post, B," Nightwing cackles in his comm, which is probably why Batman finds himself gritting out a--
"Little young for you, isn't he?"
The kid--in a hoodie and jeans, seriously, where did Selena find this guy--stares at him incredulously before his mouth stretches into an uncomfortably wide grin, revealing fairly sharp canines. He strides forward.
"What can I say, Mr. The Batman," he says, placing a hand on the man's shoulder. He must be around the same age as Dick. "I've got a thing for powerful women in black."
"See you for dinner tomorrow Lena," he says, hand lifted in farewell as he heads for the edge. He pushes himself over the wall with one hand, dropping over.
Batman clocks Selena's lack of alarm and doesn't flinch. Thirteen seconds later, there's no resounding thud when Danny's body would've met the pavement and she's still smirking at him.
"No metas in Gotham," he growls.
Selena throws her head back and laughs. "If I see any, I'll be sure to call. Now," she kisses his cheek, "I better go. I've got a date tomorrow."

“Knowing what it is to feel loved…”
So, I want to preface this by saying some of this is from my own personal experience as well as just kind of what I know from adopted people in general. While not outright stated, Summer Rose basically did adopt her, and the fact he was so young when Summer died, and she found out about Raven are both relevant. Because I feel like if Yang truly knew what it was like to feel loved on a deep, visceral level, she wouldn’t put herself in a position to always sacrifice herself for others. She wouldn’t martyr herself and have someone else feel the pain she has felt by leaving them behind.
The thing is, I don't think people understand how unlovable you can feel when you are adopted. Our society, puts motherhood on such a pedestal (and RWBY not existing in a vacuum we can assume there too), that it is so easy for a child to internalize there is something inherently unlovable about them that would make their own mother give them up. And you can just learn that as a kid even under ideal circumstances where others try to make you feel loved. Had Summer not left, Yang could have possibly lived a happy life without ever knowing Raven didn’t want her. But that’s not what happened. She had two mothers leave her and was left with a dad unable to take care of her and having to step up for her sister. No one ever stays, and Yang has to be the one to pick up the pieces.
When Beacon fell, Blake ran, Weiss’s father came and took her back to Atlas, and Ruby went off on her mission. Her own father says in ear shot he can’t go looking for Ruby because he has “to look after other things” while looking over to Yang’s room. As if she’s in the way of the daughter he really cares about because he out right states she reminds him of Raven. Speaking of, imagine growing up knowing your dad almost resents you for reminding him of the mother who left you, who you’ve been trying desperately to find, only to find out your father knew where she was and was intentionally keeping that information from you. Yang’s feelings of being unloved are so directly tied to being Raven’s daughter, and being forced into a parental role way before she should have been. I also mentioned with Blake in another post, that she did everything “right” with Blake, and she still left without even saying anything. “What if I needed her here for me?” Blake leaving her is just further proof that she must inherently be unlovable and not enough to stick around for.
Yang’s feelings seem so secondary to her that she finally finds Raven to help find Ruby. Yang gets to confront a woman who is nothing like the woman Tai eventually told her about, just for Raven to deflect and not answer the question of why she left. Yang’s feelings truly don’t matter right now because right now this is about getting to Ruby. Never mind, finding her trying to find Raven was how we were introduced to her character (Yellow Trailer). When Yang gets to confront her again, no one around, call Raven out on her shit, all but beg Raven to pick her over power and safety. Beg Raven to be a mother to her and love her, and Raven can’t. We, the audience, can see that Raven is conflicted and loves Yang as much as she can (which Yang can’t see because her back is to her), but it’s truly not good enough. It’s not what Yang needs. Raven might have been able to come up with an excuse before for leaving Yang, but now Raven is actively not picking to her face. Because in the end no one picks Yang.
But Blake did. Blake picked her all the way back in the Emerald Forest, and as far as we know Yang doesn’t know that. We don’t know if Yang knows that Blake ran to keep her safe. Yang doesn’t know Blake wanted her to hate her to further keep her safe. Everything Blake did was for Yang, but Yang doesn’t know that. Yang doesn’t know Blake is doing so well now because of Yang being in her life. Blake is in a perfect position to be there for Yang now and help Yang feel loved. Blake has gone through her journey and processing, and she’s seen and been demonstrated loved through her parents. We can only truly understand love when it’s been demonstrated for us. Yang has never had that, and Blake can be there to focus on her needs and show her what a good partner is like, because she knows what a bad one can be. Blake can take the lead and allow her to feel love in a way neither of them has felt before. It won’t completely fix Yang’s feelings of abandonment, but Blake can be there to help her hold that feeling so it’s not such a heavy burden.

OH BOY GULP GET READY be weary it's a bit twisted i don't know what tw to put but definitely for death mentions(also this is gonna be a brief description or else it'll be so long)
basically miu himawari was once a normal living person with complications that mostly involved her digestion track (which is based off me irlCOUGH COUGHG no wonder why she's my sona) and the thing that made it harder for her to live was her mother dying when she was really young (like 2 years old so she doesn't really remember that anyways) who was the one mostly taking care of her and her illnesses. himawari gets sick really easily due to the low care by her father, miu akabara, who is a scientist and is basically 24/7 working HKJSHFKHDKJGHJKEHG
so yeah she lives up to 16 until she dies hospitalised because stuff got worse. but the hospital akabara works in works in a project that involves transferring human memories and personality and basically consciousness in a robot body (we aren't gonna talk about the fucked up things behind that) so himawari was the first ever success on their project. well. ''success'' because her engine persists various issues that cause her to run into Anomalies that may or may not be risky for someone else's life. also her primary energy source is real blood. totally donated from consenting patients
himawari's passion was always medical related stuff and she wanted to be a nurse ever since she was really young, so their priority for himawari's coding is try to get her to work as a nurse for the same hospital but we are also not going to talk about how wrong it goes. oh and also because she's Sleepy As Fuck she literally just sleeps while doing activities. and also himawari's conscious actively knows it's in a robot body but most of her activity is programmed by her engine so she still sometimes struggles to even eat with a fork 😭😭 BUT YEAG. THERE'S MORE I JUST DON'T WANNA DUMP EVERYTHING HERE i'm so sorry if it's bad but you asked for it

In the fic, I wanted Lestat to be bisexual while Armand has negative zero interest in men. None, nada, zilch.
Lestat did lose her virginity early (I'll probably keep it to canon age and make it 13 if it comes up--which isn't unusual in Europe). She's been with both boys and girls but her first serious relationship was with Nicki (a woman) back in France, before Lestat moved to the US for school.
They did know each other growing up and they got together in their semester of high school (private Catholic girls school 👀).
I know I want the relationship with Nicki to be emotionally abusive at this point in the timeline, but I can't decide if they're still together and long distance or if they broke up before the start of the fic. Because if I go with Option A, that means Armand just made someone else's girlfriend squirt all over her carpet and now Lestat has to contend with the consequences. 🫢

oh my god i am watching the episode where rukia almost dies in Hueco Mundo and I am screaming at her dying breath memory of Renji:
Like, girl, is this the last picture of him you had in your camera roll? Or maybe she just really loves his swaggy cape and shit-eating grin??
The funny thing is that everyone else is making a normal serious face, probably because they used the panels from the manga or something close, but they felt the need to replace "I will definitely rescue you, Rukia" Renji face from the Soul Society Arc with Renji who sits behind you in study hall and throws spitballs at Ishida.
also a minute later they replace the image that goes with "...the joy of being rescued by a friend" from one of rukia and renji to one of ichigo this show is so unserious

editing to warn people that the tags are novel length but that i love them and also @graythegreyt pls read them when u have a chance
#wick lore#i have asked myself this question with almost every character but for cinder i was thinking abt her dustweave (?) clothing#dustweave. dust infused. something like that#her v1 outfit that has the design on the sleeves that lights up when she sends out fire. that's her using fire dust that's in the cloth#but as far as i know this is a detail that literally never comes up again like we never see anyone else with clothing like this#so i asked myself. what if that was her semblance instead. that she had the ability to sew dust into cloth#how hard would it be for the girl modelled after cinderella to know that her semblance required her to do domestic labor to be used#thus explaining why it doesn't show up in later volumes because once she gets the maiden powers she thinks she doesn't need it#idk i think making her semblance be 'she can heat stuff up' and thus making her semblance indistinguishable from maiden powers#for the entirety of the series. is a bit of a waste. bc semblances say a lot about characters right#i know there's a point to be made about like. it manifested as that at that time because cinder has always been angry etc etc#but wouldn't it hurt from a different narrative angle. to have her semblance be dustweaving. when she doesn't have any money#no money to buy dust with but a semblance that makes her a skilled and incredibly rare craftsperson but can she bear to sell her skills#when they've been used against her for so long? when all she's known is hard work and grit and sweat? when it's probably dangerous?#anyway i think im about to hit the limit for tags but. lmfao. the possibilities!!! also the association between handsewing and the HOME!#something she's always wanted but never had. a safe place to sit by a fire that she doesn't have to tend and do her work...#also like the possible tension with mercury bc she's wishing her semblance was more offensive + merc's like BE GRATEFUL YOU HAVE ONE???#i headcanon that mercury has a semblance though. that he has silver eyes and his dad took those from him by making him hate the world#...anyway#goodnight

Marcus: be okay and go home, but also never have to tell Heith about all of his lies by omission
Heith: figure out if she's actually for real serious about Marcus (she thinks she might be actually for real serious about Marcus) and one way or another move out of her hotel room on Aephar
Yera: be a mom and try to make peace with the fact that Marcus is not here to be a part of the family
Hossan: be a dad and help Umedes figure themself out
Gren: see Marcus again and hopefully find out that there was no need to be jealous about his girlfriend, and make sure everyone's okay, especially the baby
Pali: prevent Kiatcarmen from finding Marcus (though that isn't a very active job), make sure the shifter coalition in the court doesn't budge, and get somewhere with her studies of shifter magic
Umedes: figure out whether they want to have a kid or not help
Kiatcarmen: find Marcus, because Minaya must not ascend, and do whatever else she can to preserve her accomplishments in the kingdom
Pirianus: broaden Kiatcarmen's vision beyond legacy, or, failing that, as he has for some 30+ years, get her to open up to him
Caladea: see Marcus again, and for his polycule's sake believe with all her heart the lies they tell Kiatcarmen
Thade: continue completing the political project du jour and end up in a happily ever after with Pirianus, which might also make him more welcome in the palace
Orvi: complete the one thing he was installed in the palace to accomplish
20 - Who's in the way of those goals?
Marcus: his mother. Always his mother. And honestly a little bit himself
Heith: herself, mostly. This is so not like her - well, specifically the part where she's still here when there have been plenty of times to go home
Yera: realistically, Kiatcarmen. But she still sometimes feels like she's lost some of her verve
Hossan: Umedes is the big challenge here. They're just so indecisive
Gren: Kiatcarmen, but sometimes it's easier to focus on the fact that Marcus has an interstellar girlfriend that none of them have ever met and that's so frustrating
Pali: herself. There aren't enough hours in the day for everything, and she has to sleep ugh
Umedes: themself, because they were the one who said this would be a great idea for when Marcus comes back. Who 100% believed Pali and Minaya and her ferasca spouses that this would go great. And who also took one look at Yera & Hossan's baby and thought that maybe they were signing up for more than they realized
Kiatcarmen: Marcus. Always Marcus. But she also blames Minaya and Yera and Pali for his disappearance, and she needs Pirianus to just shut up. This would have been so much easier with Jimmy
Pirianus: Kiatcarmen because he put his eggs all in one basket. But he mostly blames himself
Caladea: Kiatcarmen, but she tries to focus on what she can do better, and how she's getting in her own way
Thade: he's beginning to suspect he's been in his own way this entire time but it can't be understated how much Pirianus is constantly hot and cold
Orvi: it changes frequently, but always some contingent of the court
21 - What is your character's relationship with their emotions?
Marcus: he can't control his bad emotions, so he suppresses them. This has never caused any problems
Heith: she's just as cynical about her emotions as she is about everything else, but sometimes she just can't not feel something completely unironically
Yera: she's gonna feel them whatever they are so [grits teeth] negative emotions are part of the fullness of experience (she will be screaming into this pillow later)
Hossan: left to his own devices, he would feel his emotions, and then let them cast away upon the wind. Being with Yera and Gren has made him learn how to interrogate them more
Gren: he feels everything. A lot. He also conceptualizes things in terms of feelings a lot
Pali: she would like to believe she doesn't have them, but then she lays awake at night deconstructing them
Umedes: they tend to put intense feelings away for later, but don't ever get to later unless later comes for them first
Kiatcarmen: her emotions are so rich and nuanced and nobody understands that, so all of her emotions collapse into some flavor of annoyance
Pirianus: don't like that feeling? Repress it! This will never result in it returning in continually more warped and incomprehensible forms
Caladea: being in the palace seems to have stunted her emotions - they're flatter, duller, and way more anxious no matter what they are
Thade: don't like that feeling? Deflect it! The more mirrors there are between you and your emotions the less you will ever know what they are and the less you can ever be responsible for them
Orvi: he has a mental Tupperware for emotions that allows him to keep control of himself. He is the only person on this list who will actually open that Tupperware on purpose later
22 - What regrets do they have, if any? (From any part of the story, not just exposition.)
Marcus: missing out on eight years of his "real" life, and especially not being there when Gren's grandmother died. If only he'd been stronger, he could have stayed
Heith: before finding out about Marcus, that she's kind of a flake to her band, but they don't seem to mind that much. After finding out about Marcus, that she ever thought there was some kind of "magic" between them and maybe she could feel naïve about love for two seconds
Yera: she regretted drifting away from her father and sister, so she's fixing that now
Hossan: most of his regrets are from the now-distant past and don't make much sense - even he will say so - but he always finds himself regretting that he can't seem to do more for people
Gren: not going home even more before his grandmother died, even though he was practically splitting his time between his home city and the palace. He also regrets letting Marcus leave, even though he had to, and there was no other real choice
Pali: after getting married, she got more distant from her professor mentor, and the regret hit her hard when they died
Umedes: most immediately, thinking that having a kid was a good idea (they are beginning to think that this is a pregnancy kink that got out of hand). But more than anything they regret not going with Marcus, even though they couldn't
Kiatcarmen: Ashmalo was a liability, but she still regrets that he died (despite her image she does not think that assassination is the right way to deal with most problems, including Ashmalo). Conversely, she regrets that she couldn't save Jimmy, even though medical science itself could not have saved Jimmy. She also regrets letting Minaya slip out from under her thumb, because if she hadn't, she wouldn't be stuck looking for her runaway son
Pirianus: that he can't seem to permanently extract himself from Thade. If he stops and thinks about it (read: gets drunk and sad) he regrets spending so many years of his life trying to get through to a woman who would just as soon throw him to the dogs
Caladea: that she couldn't do more for Marcus or Minaya or Ashmalo, and that she still can't. And that being stuck in the palace has left her struggling to try and pick up the pieces of her creativity and her passion even though it should have given her unlimited resources to pursue them
Thade: things he's said to people. Most of them used to be seared in his brain because he thought they were funny, and eventually he figured out that oh, maybe they weren't. But some of them seemed bad from the moment they came out of his mouth (not before that, unfortunately, because he wasn't thinking about it) and he wishes he could take them back for real, especially the things he's said to Pirianus
Orvi: that he's still here. He had one thing to accomplish, and even though it was complex, it's taking SO. LONG. He knew that marrying into the royal family meant that he probably wasn't going to permanently go home again, but the longer this drags on the less he even wants to show his face there, and he wonders if it was worth it at all
#I need to spend more time with Heith tbh. Also, Ruan Mei was the one who lent the Phase Flame to Ratio, wasn't she?
#That Ratio and her were working together seemed to be the case since we first found him but idk#Ruan Mei plays dumb when we ask about him but I thought it was clear that she did know him#Herta also pretends she doesn't know him for some reason#cringefail acquaintance#Jokes aside I wonder why they did that. Is it because they both are ehm working behind each other's back#(Herta when it comes to the IPC‚ the SU and the bet‚ Ruan Mei kind of with everything)‚ or is it due to some other more complex reason?#Based on we've seen thus far I do think Ratio and Ruan Mei were working together in something#and that she was in the known of at least some things. Perhaps not everything#She seems to care about things beyond her research even less than Herta does#But given what we're told it seems fair to conclude the fire Ratio had was given to him by Ruan Mei#Herta said Ruan Mei needed it for some research. So either she didn't need it anymore and didn't mind giving it to Ratio afterwards#or maybe what Ratio was doing was something she was a part of. Or did Ratio steal it when he was around the seclusion zone?#I'm not inclined to think that tbh it seems to me Ruan Mei must have been knowingly implied. Yet now she owes Herta a favour#Which is more valuable according to Herta. This quest has left me very curious about the development of all this#Screwllum suspected Ratio since the beginning. I wonder if he suspects Ruan Mei too#Ruan Mei's line about Screwllum makes it seem like they don't get along too well I think. I have so many questions xD#I am very curious about all this‚ satisfied and potentially excited. Not yet excited but I sure have hopes for an exciting development haha#Maybe it will all end up being nothing but the relationships between the characters in the Genius Society (especially these three)#seems kind of messy and that intrigues me. Ok so. I've decided that I'm for sure gonna get a binder. I looked at Spectrum Outfitters specifically and they seem pretty good. I've already taken my measurements and everything so I know what size I should get and I've looked into y'know how to put it on and how to bind safely and all that stuff. Just need to choose what color I want :] (probably the hardest part of this whole thing lmao)
HOWEVER. I don't have enough money for it right now and I haven't talked abt this at all with my mom (I kinda.. don't want to explain all of this to her. She's very supportive of me and I'm sure she'd be cool with it but idk it's still scary and awkward and I don't wanna deal with that) so I was thinking of setting up a goal on my kofi and holding a sale for my comms so I can get enough money for it by myself + just have some extra cash for other unrelated stuff. Since this is a pretty personal thing for me I wanna do it all on my own and not have to go through mom first for once. I wanna feel like an adult and do things for myself y'know
So yeah point is I'll probably try and do a holiday sale for my comms soon to hopefully get enough to cover that so stay tuned :]

Thena's eyes fluttered, feeling lips on her skin. And that could only mean one thing; she smiled, her fangs poking her bottom lip as Gil peppered kisses around her cheeks. She purred gently, feeling like she had gone into a hibernation she was so sated.
Gil's kisses moved from her cheeks to her jaw to down to her neck.
Her eyes split open as his tongue traced over her gills.
"Thena!" he laughed as she flailed, trying to sit up in the bed only to realise her tail wasn't split, instead hanging off the end of the bed with her fins completely out. "Hey, it's okay!"
Thena leaned on her elbows, still feeling caught off-guard and maybe a little embarrassed for falling asleep and apparently letting go of herself completely. She blushed as Gil gave her a particularly amused smile beside her, "morning."
Gil leaned down, kissing her lips more properly this time. He pulled her into his lap, helping her situate her tail under the ruffled blankets. "Morning."
Thena clung to the bed sheet, her tail wiggling just at the tip. "I, um, we-"
Gil kissed her again, which she had no complaints about, surely. He was more affectionate than usual this morning. "Do you feel okay?"
After they had finally completed the act of mating, he meant. Thena nodded, the warmth in her cheeks not dimming any. She did feel a little embarrassed - mostly about the tail thing - but mostly it seemed her body insisted on running at a higher temperature in its elation.
"Good," Gil remarked lightly, looking her over for signs of a truer answer she might not have the words for at the moment. His finger tapped against her shoulder before tracing down her back to the small dorsal spines at the base of her back around her scales.
Thena shivered slightly.
"Does anything hurt?"
"Why would it hurt?" she was asking genuinely. Were human females not meant to mate under certain circumstances?
Gil kissed her cheek, still running his hands over her lightly. "Sometimes it can hurt a little the first time you do something new and...strenuous. But I guess you wouldn't have to worry about that as much."
Thena nodded again, still trying to wrap her head around it all. She looked down at her tail, still sticking out of the blanket and practically laughing at her lack of energy.
"Thena?"
She tucked her head under his chin, although with him looking down at her the space was tight. She wiggled for him to let her in. She lifted her tail, taking up most of the bed and rustling his bed sheets, "sorry."
"About what?" he laughed faintly, telling her that he knew what she was apologising for--the question was rhetorical. "I don't mind."
Thena made an unhappier sound in the back of her throat. After mastering the art of splitting her tail at a moment's notice, she hadn't anticipated losing control of it like this.
Gil moved one of his hands and ran it down the cool of her scales, pale and shimmering as a pearl. "It's a beautiful tail."
Thena's face burned hotter than she had experienced before.
"Have I never told you that?" he was asking genuinely, clueless to how weighty a statement saying something like that was.
Thena squirmed as he kissed the tip of her ear, which also felt flushed with heat. "I--y-you-!"
He held her shoulders, settling his chin on the top of her head again, "are you hungry?"
She was famished. She felt like she had swam the globe last night.
Gil took her silence as a yes, kissing her cheek again, although she did not want him to know how flushed she was for some reason. He leaned away from her slowly, helping her lean on his bunched up pillows without the support of her knees or a butt to sit on. "Here."
Thena clung to his pillow as he laid the t-shirt of his she had been wearing last night over her 'lap'. She eyed it, and then watched as he sought clothes of his own. Eventually she had to avert her eyes from the sight of him...swinging.
It felt very different to see that part of him after having come to know what it was capable of.
Gil came back over to her, kissing her hair, "take your time, Angelfish. Just come downstairs when you're ready, okay?"
She nodded, promising that she would indeed emerge from his room. He left, whistling as he went downstairs to the kitchen. It seemed he was in as elated a mood as she.
She pressed her smile to his pillow, absorbing the scent of him.
Her tail moved faintly in response to the pleasant stimulus.
Thena huffed at herself. She laid against Gil's side of the bed, focusing her energy on her blood flow. Slowly but surely, her scales pulled back and she split her tail into two separate bone structures. It had never taken effort like this before. She truly was depleted of energy.
She had to wonder if this was normal after the act of mating. Makkari and Sersi had both been so reluctant to tell her about it, in completely different ways for completely different reasons. She did manage to slip out of bed and pull his shirt on again. Her knees felt a little loose.
She managed to get down the stairs without incident. She poked her head into the kitchen, where Gil was stirring a pot with bonito and kombu in it (two of her favourites). He wasn't wearing a shirt, just those soft pants that were even softer on the inside.
He looked handsome.
Thena came into the kitchen with her hands clasped behind her. Perhaps she could understand why mating was such an affair in a person's life, whether human or mer. She felt...different.
Gil reached out for her, pulling into another kiss. Perhaps he too felt different. "Hey."
"Hey," she greeted back needlessly, giggling a little between their kisses and their closeness.
He pressed his lips to her temple and then hovered there, "last night was great."
She felt that was an understatement, but agreed. She put her hand to his chest, determined to ask, "are there post-mating rituals I should know of?--for humans?"
"Hm," he smiled, seeming determined to look at her and not the food he was cooking, "this kind of is one."
Thena tilted her head one way and then the other, "you cook breakfast everyday."
"Yeah but," he chuckled, pulling her against his chest again. Apparently mating turned him even more cuddly than usual (agreeable). "Breakfast after...mating--w-well, it can be different."
"Hm," Thena agreed quietly. She went to retrieve their little miso soup bowls, Gil's hand trailing against hers. He was truly loath to part with her, and she understood the feeling.
"Do you feel..." he looked at her, some of his usual anxiety surfacing under his giddiness, "different?"
Thena beamed, showing off her fangs. So sweet, her human man. She went back over to him, throwing her arms around his neck to kiss him. "Wonderfully so."
