Astro Observation: Commonalities in Serial Killer charts

DISCLAIMER: Any aspects, placements, signs, etc. that I mention here on out do not mean that people with one or all of these are, will become, or will act out serial killer tendencies. I am merely finding common aspects and placements in famous serial killers' charts to delve deeper into the reasons for their actions. As always, one aspect can be expressed in so many different ways. So, take everything with a grain of salt.

If we break down each person's chart by only personal planets, what sign comes up the most often?

Scorpio and Gemini are the signs that came up most frequently. Every serial killer in my list has Scorpio or Gemini in their charts except for Richard Ramirez and Aileen Wuornos.

Scorpio is not a big surprise since this is the sign ruled by Pluto. Death, taboo subjects, obsession, fascination with darker sides of life, control, and power are all very Scorpionic and Plutonian themes. Negative Scorpio traits include being vengeful, manipulative, aggressive, and insensitive. They have innate seductive energy that lures people in as well.

Gemini is a bit more surprising. However, Geminis are curious, clever, impulsive, moody, and good with words. They like to know private information about other people. They are also social creatures, so if they are lacking social connection, things can go south for them. Or, they can use their social skills to lure others to them. The duality of Geminis could go to the extremes; two different personalities in one.

The next most frequent sign is Aquarius. Richard Ramirez and Aileen Wuornos have Aquarius in their charts.

Not a huge surprise with Aquarius. Negative Aquarius energy could mean detachment from emotions, lack of empathy, extreme rebelliousness, pessimism, and coldness. They can be unpredictable and have a superiority complex as well.

The sign that did not appear at all among personal planets is Leo. Taurus and Cancer come in a close second with only one each.

By modality? Not much difference here, but Mutable signs are in the lead. Mutable (17), Fixed (14), Cardinal (13)

By element? Air and Water came up the most with 15 and 13 respectively. Fire and Earth tied at 8 each.

Most common aspect?

Neptune - Pluto (8/9)

This is a generational aspect so 8 out of the 9 have Neptune sextile Pluto, except for Charles Manson. This aspect lasts from the 1940s to the 2030s (Charles Manson was born earlier in 1934). Because this aspect includes such a wide range of people, it does not have a huge effect on our serial killer study. I also do not know their birth times, so I do not even know which houses Neptune and Pluto land in their charts.

Venus - Mars (7/9)

Venus-Mars aspects are typically seen as attractive aspects since they join the planet of love, beauty, and sensuality with the planet of action, physicality, and aggression. From a negative perspective, Venus-Mars can also mean a love for aggression, sexual frustration, and an imbalance between wanting to be accepted/acceptable and wanting to act out in self-interest. May want love and affection, but either in an unconventional way or a part of them fights against or feels uncomfortable with this desire. (Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer are the only two who do not have this aspect; Ted Bundy was known to be attractive to a lot of people and had a certain charm; he does has Venus square Pluto.)

Moon - Uranus (7/9)

Once again, because I do not know birth times, the Moon placements are not accurate. However, I still thought this might be good to look at since there are so many of them. Moon-Uranus gives an unpredictable and disruptive nature to emotions. Their emotional lives may feel unstable, and strong emotions may rise suddenly. They could be rebellious and may feel restless frequently; may desire to separate themselves from others. Childhood could have been unstable/unaffectionate, and these people could lack slow, routine comfort. (John Wayne Gacy and David Berkowitz are the only two who do not have this aspect; David Berkowitz does have Aquarius Moon, which is different from Moon-Uranus but could give a similar flavor)

Sun - Saturn (6/9)

There is self-restricting energy that comes with Sun-Saturn aspects. In a negative light, this aspect shows seriousness, self-denial, lacking a strong sense of self, insecurity, and taking yourself too seriously. This could also show that people deny the Sun-Saturn people their self-expression and acceptance. (Pedro Lopez, Jeffrey Dahmer, and David Berkowitz are the only three who do not have this aspect)

Mars - Neptune (6/9)

Mars-Neptune can be spiritual, elusive, sensitive, imaginative, and dependent. In the realm of serial killers, spirituality can be taken to the extreme; think cult activity, believing a higher power is making you do bad things, etc. (Charles Manson has Mars conjunct Neptune, and David Berkowitz has Mars trine Neptune.) Serial killers can blend in and play in the shadows too, which is Neptunian. They can also assume a different persona, act like a completely different person. Many of these killers were seen as sensitive, shy, and/or polite during the day or in childhood. They can be impressionable; could have been heavily affected by their childhood environments, and acted out physically by imitation or by lashing out. (Pedro Lopez, Harold Shipman, and Jeffrey Dahmer are the only three that do not have this aspect.)

Closing Thoughts

When it comes to serial killers, I see two trains of thought. There is an intense fight between two opposing sides in one person. There is also an extreme detachment from themselves and other people. Saturn is the most aspected planet among these 9 charts, which speaks volumes astrologically about what can push someone to that level of violence and anger. Control, denial, and detachment are huge themes. There is absolutely no excuse for these serial killers and what they did to their victims and the victims' families and loved ones. But it is important to know that most, if not all of them, were denied love and affection in childhood. They were controlled or neglected by authority figures, whether or not this was perceived or for real. And they developed the ability to detach from themselves and other people. They then exert control over their victims and literally deny them their lives. During the act, they detach from any societal morals and ethics and any part of themselves that could possibly say that they shouldn't go through with their violent thoughts.

When there is discomfort within one's self, it builds up and, over time, this pent-up frustration and anger has to come out somehow. This is oftentimes through aggression (Mars) that is ignited by strong emotions (Moon). Serial killers take this to another level (violence, violent emotions)

It is also interesting to see Jupiter within the top half of the list. Serial killers tend to have strong ideologies/principles about the world, people, and everything that is wrong with both. This can also show an urge to expand and inflict their ideologies onto other people.

This is my little "study" on some famous serial killers. Kind of creeping me out right now so...

Sword gays showdown preliminaries

Propaganda:

For Kazuma Asogi:

ok so he’s not CANONICALLY queer but it’s ace attorney. so… he does, however, canonically have a katana! a sword so integral to the plot it gives me shivers just thinking about it. the sword also has a name, it’s karuma (translates roughly to karma) and it gets passed onto the main character, ryunosuke naruhodo (who he calls partner), after kazuma (spoiler alert) dies in case 1-2. except (SUPER spoiler alert!) he isn’t dead! he comes back in case 2-3 and would you look at that he has ANOTHER SWORD, a more european sword (cause he ended up in england after his amnesia brain said he REALLY had to go to england). once he gets his memories back, ryunosuke gives karuma back to him and proceeds to use it to destroy the wax figure of his dead presumed serial killer dad (long story), and now he has, you guessed it, TWO SWORDS! for the next two cases he wears both swords at his sides, and also he broke the tip off of karuma attempting to murder someone (he didn’t actually murder anyone but still) and then turns out karuma’s hilt has the REAL serial killer’s will in it. very VERY important sword. in the end, kazuma gives karuma back to ryunosuke which is really symbolic but that’s besides the point, and they cross swords and it’s a whole big thing. 10/10 gay sword guy.

For Raiden:

He's such a tragic character! Raised to be a super soldier from birth and is constantly being exploited by the government. As for the lgbt part him and his rival in the latest game he's in have so much tension it's unreal (gay). I headcanon him as trans too because he has a feminine figure, his voice gets more masculine as the series goes on (testosterone) and his entire body gets replaced with cybernetics (trans allegory...)

For Claudine Saijou:

Fights with a longsword! Should be number 1 for this line alone: “For heroes, there are trials. For saints, there are temptations. For me, there is you”, said to def not her girl crush but rival btw (stream Revue of Soul) Vote for my disaster theatre kid its what she deserves!

Her gay levels are off the charts. She has a homoerotic rivalry with another classmate (Maya Tendo/Tendou Maya) that is integral to her character, as she was always first until she met Maya. She’s also half-French, but that’ll be important later. When she’s looking at pictures of Maya stretching (to study her form of course) and another character asks her what she’s looking at, she panics, blushes, and says none of your business. Her and Maya have a heartfelt conversation while stretching with Claudine’s face pressed into Maya’s chest (between her stomach and breasts). Some art from a magazine has Maya pushing Claudine into a deep stretch, but it looks like something a lot different (Claudine blushing doesn’t help. Also I realized that there’s a lot of gay stuff related to stretching with these two).

During a two on two duel (I know it’s not a duel), they fight together. Not only that, but at one point they hold hands and take a pose typical of romantic partners in dancing. For no reason. They just pause and do it to show off. They aren’t even fighting. Anyways, when they lose, Claudine starts crying, not because she lost, but because Maya lost. So, of course, Maya starts speaking to her in French, with one of the things she says being “You’re cute even when you cry, my Claudine.” All of this is stuff that’s happened in the series (except the magazine thing).

Now for the gay stuff in the movie. Their duel with each other is so dense with sapphic undertones they can hardly be called undertones. For starters, the song that accompanies this revue is called “A Beautiful Person, or Perhaps it is.” While this title is incomplete, the director states that he wanted the watcher to fill it in and this removed the end of the original title. That title is “A Beautiful Person, or Perhaps it is a Love Song.” The duel is framed as a fight between a hero (Maya) and a devil (Claudine). Maya is in an outfit reminiscent of Renaissance Italy and Claudine is in a suit. Thus, Maya signs a contract giving her soul over to Claudine, as is the case with marriage. With her own blood, in the shape of Position Zero (an important symbol in the show), which happens to look like a T, for Tendou. After a few minutes of fighting, Maya disappears and monologues, appearing in a white dress. This means that Maya has signed her soul over to Claudine, and they are now both wearing a white dress and suit. Not beating the gay marriage allegations. Maya finished her monologue with “For heroes, there are trials. For saints, there are temptations. For me, there is a devil.” They continue to fight, Maya proclaiming herself emotionless and empty. Maya then cuts the medallion from Claudine’s chest (they wear medallions and you lose the duel if it gets cut off).

Claudine falls. Maya attempts to claim victory by stabbing her sword into Position Zero, which is then covered by steel doors. Claudine sits up and reveals she has another medallion in her mouth, which she does by sticking out her tongue in a uhhhh. Anyways, after a bit of back and forth, Claudine tells Maya that she’s full of arrogance and pride and envy and longing. She then says that “No matter how many times I die, I will revive! Tendou Maya! To beat you, my rival, into submission!” She then makes her stage entrance, taking Maya’s usual entrance speech and mocking it. She also says “I fill myself with exploding passion, now, and bash it into your heart!” After some talking, Maya makes her stage entrance, taking Claudine’s usual entrance speech and mocking it. Up until now, they have been playing characters, but still letting their own emotions shine through. Now, they are entirely themselves.

They begin to fight again, running downs white aisle before clashing swords, with Maya saying “Such an ugly, emotion drenched appearance-“ and is cut off by Claudine, who says “Show me more, Tendou Maya! Right now, you’re the cutest you’ve ever been!” To which Maya responds “I’m always cute!” The song starts up again (duels are accompanied by songs), with Maya singing “With a grin of deception I’ll tear this piece of cloth.” Deception in Japanese is mayakashi, a reference to Maya’s name. Maya then sings “I want to show you my feelings becoming dyed in black.” Black is Kuro in Japanese. Claudine, in Katakana, is Kurodine, with her nickname being Kuro, so that line could also be interpreted “I want to show you my feelings becoming dyed in you.” Claudine then sings “Only me, always, forever,” before they sing in unison “You only need to look at me,” as they lock blades. Some fighting happens and they’re falling through the sky, holding onto each others clothes and Claudine says “Only I can make you lay everything bare!” To which Maya responds “I’ll expose my everything, on the stage!” Claudine shoots back with “There’s a partner you can expose everything to, on the stage!” At this point, there’s a short time with independent vocals for Maya and Claudine in addition to their talking. Maya has been singing “If I’m on the stage, if I’m in front of you,” for the last two lines of dialogue. Claudine sings “Be it ugly or beautiful,” as Maya sings “I will expose, anything and everything, all of me, all of me.” As this happens, Maya is saying “We love the stage,” which is continued by Claudine saying “And we can’t part from the stage!” Maya calls them both “Pathetic clowns!” To which Claudine corrects “No, rivals!” Maya says “If you’re there, I have to strive higher!” Claudine says “You make me even more beautiful! Maya!” Maya then yells “Claudine!” Claudine yells “For heroes, there are trials!” Maya continues “For saints, there are temptations!” Then, as one, their swords crossed, faces inches from each other, yell “For me, there is you!” Over top of this, their voices sing a line in unison: “Forever and ever, I’d like to cross swords with you.”

Claudine’s sword stabs through the contract, through the Position Zero in blood, which may be Maya’s family name, and Maya says as an aside “Saijou Claudine… You are beautiful.” Claudine cuts the medallion from Maya’s chest, finally beating her rival.

I'm into western astrology and I just want to speak on the astrology of the DL boys real quick. Some of the characters embody their given zodiac sign while others don't fully but that could be because of the birth charts, rejet obviously did not give us the year or time of birth all of them were born so I can't go in depth however I will list a few things for each DL boy.

Shu: His given sun sign is Libra. Libras are very social and friendly as well as fickle, but they do have a great sense of judgement. Shu is def an air or even a water sun sign I just don't think Libra suits him. What would be more suitable for Shu would be an early July Cancer, due to the fact that when this sign is depressed, they will make that their personality trait for the rest of their lives, a libra wouldn't.

Reiji: I think making Reiji a virgo was the most genius thing ever. He is a definition virgo, straight from the book, he loves organization and logic. He is a problem solver and dislikes unnecessary bullshit. And his comebacks are so killer.

Ayato: He makes perfect aries. Aries are known to be super loud and chaotic but in reality they are super sensitive and passionate as well, they sometimes struggle with understanding their own feelings and I think Ayato conveys that very well, Aries will always be positive even if the world is ending.

Kanato: I think Kanato should have been an Aquarius, he has a unique style that only an Aquarius can pull off and he is brutally honest like an Aquarius as well, he's quick to anger. Now you can argue and say but Aries are always angry, no they are not, they get pissed and frustrated but its not as scary as when an aquarius or cancer gets pissed off. Aries does not suit him.

Laito: He is the definition of a pisces man, Laito is highly intuitive and can read people like books, he understands how thoughts work very well, he's also quite imagintaive like a pisces.

Subaru: Perfect. Lonely serial killer vibes like a true scorpio.

Ruki: I think Ruki being a Taurus is actually perfect as well. Taurus are very maternal and Ruki gives off the vibe with his brothers the most, also he enjoys cooking and reading for his pastimes, he's homebody for the most part and has known what it's like to live in luxury.

Kou: He should have been a gemini with those crazy mood swings. Yui was super scared in his MB route to piss him off, it was like walking on eggshells with him. Kou also is very social and good at faking it just like a gemini, he also is quick to offer something like a Gemini would.

Yuma: 100% a leo, he thinks a head like a leo would, he's the first person anyone would look at in a room as well and it's not just because he is tall, it's because of that leo energy.

Azusa: an October Scorpio is correct, the amount of detrimental damage Azusa does to himself it just explains a lot.

Carla: He should have been a Capricorn or Scorpio, manz was vengeful and formidable in his planning. Making him a gemini made no sense, I really think Rejet just said a random ass day.

Shin: He should be a Sag, making him an april taurus made no sense to me. Sag's are more adventurous but get shit done, and I think Shin was more on that spectrum.

Kino: A June cancer makes sense for Kino, the self entitlement, thinking that you're better than everyone else and the victim complex...

Analyzing jeffrey dahmer & dennis nilsen natal charts

So I came across a serial killer named Dennis nilsen who reminds me a lot of jeffrey dahmer. I found some interesting information about them,

Dennis is a sagittarius pictured below

Jeffrey is a gemini pictured below

If you haven't heard of them, if you're into true crime I highly suggest watching some documentaries on them like I did.

Both are gay serial killers who started killing in 1978, even though I believe they are 20 years apart (dennis being older then jeff) it's weird that they commited these acts in the same year, which got me curious about what the heck was going on in that time that could of caused this.

A few details I learned about them:

Jeff is from the US & Dennis from England. What caught my attention is that they look so similar & they also have similar backgrounds. What's different about each one is that dennis seemed more emotionally available then jeff did, I guess bc his motive wasn't just to kill.

Not only are they alike but apparently both of their 1st murder victims were named steven. Idk what that means in numerology or spiritually but the fact that they have so much in common freaks me out, like universally these 2 killers must of had a connection 🤔

Now to the juicy stuff..

(The aspects in their natals are right after this section)

I looked up that years birth chart from the time span of each of their 1st kills & the only thing that obviously stood out to me is that there was Uranus in Scorpio from june during Jeff's 1st murder continuing through December on dennis's 1st murder.

The birth chart on the day of jeffrey dahmers 1st kill below:

My thoughts..

It's so interesting that the moon and uranus was transiting into Scorpio for jeffrey dahmer on his day, with the sun conjuncting his natal sun.

& with dennis nilsen uranus was in scorpio still and venus was transiting into scorpio too which is also his natal placement, along with mercury conjuncting his natal sun & natal mercury on his night.

Now let's pull up their natal charts.

Jeffrey Dahmers natal below:

May 21, 1960, 4:34pm.

Dennis Nilsens natal below:

November 23, 1945, 4am.

My interpretation of all this..

What's crazy as I'm looking at both of their charts is that they apparently have libra risings almost at the same exact 19 degrees 🤯 + the same thing with their suns at 0°

Also the fact that they have sister venus signs is another thing that stands out to me + sister sign suns, like that should tell you how much sister signs are so alike imo.

For jeffrey dahmer he didn't have much scorpio besides his neptune but if his birth chart on astrotheme is correct then he had a 8H stellium. That's so spooky to me.

Neptune in scorpio: describes someone who isn't afraid to explore the dark side of things, they like uncovering the secrets that no one should know about. They are comfortable knowing what others don't know and hiding in the shadows, no one really knows who they are bc they keep so much to themselves.

Uranus in scorpio transit: Scorpio a sign that associates with occult, sex, deep topics, breaking the rules, risky things + adding that into planet uranus which is shocking, eccentric, different. Put them together & you get sex or interests that are shocking, insane, unique. Both of these serial killers were necrophiles.

Jeffrey's house placements/natal aspects:

Venus trine saturn: Jeff knew how to conceal his true motives and interests, tastes, attraction.. he knew how to be perceived as a normal, regular, average looking person.. he strategically did not share much of his love life or any of that with anyone, it seemed like he was a nice, easy going, neutral person. He probably learned this behavior from his dad/past experiences, on how to not look like a crazy, unstable person. He did go the army and there they pretty much teach you how to survive in the world, how to defend yourself, how to take care of yourself, how to follow orders, practicing cleanliness and working hard. He gave off a pleasing and calm venusian/saturn vibe but little did anyone know who he was deep down

Mars square jupiter: Prone to extreme excess, he may have been the type of person who covers up his awkwardness and uncertainty by overdoing things. They did say he was a class clown and would do weird/crazy things for attention in school and I think this aspects explains that. Instead of expressing his anger, passion, desire, energy in a healthy way, he ends up doing too much. This also describes his impulsive ways and taking reckless risks that could be embarrassing later on. Not a good aspect to have on top of aries moon/mars both in aries. He has strong compulsions that he could not tone down. He was probably very rude too like if someone didn't agree with him he would say the meanest things in the moment. Mars square jupiter to me would describe someone who doesn't care about the consequences of their actions, they're too impulsive to realize them. Can be extremely aggressive, rude, confrontational, somewhat disobeying the law/society's structures.

Having such different POV from everyone around him that he felt kinda isolated with his belief system, religion and passions. To me this also says he didn't respect other people's beliefs only his own, selfish.

Moon square saturn: This definitely explains his abandonment issues, maybe he felt abandoned by his dad or care giver in general. He didn't have care, love, support from his parents. He could be emotionally immature, which only further isolated him. Socially awkward, cold, unemotional, distant, depressed/depressing to be around is how someone would see this person. To me jeffrey dahmer had abandonment issues and trauma from being lonely and left behind, this not only happened with family but with his "friends" too. So mostly likely to avoid feeling abandoned again instead of facing his issues and healing them, he resorted to killing people and keeping them with him forever. That was his form of revenge and getting control over his emotions, instead of them controlling him or making him feel abandoned/unloved ever again. Tbh I understand not feeling cared for... he must of been hurt so much to go to this kindof extreme just to avoid feeling pain. His parents could have also belittled him a lot and either blamed him for things or damaged his sense of security.

One of the victims who escaped him did say that as soon as they mentioned to dahmer that they had to leave, dahmer had started to panick all of a sudden and tried to make them stay by force but they got away anyway.

Mercury square pluto: Extremely obsessive mind/tendencies.

A squared aspect to me shows excessive and unbalanced actions, does provide energy to whatever it's aspecting. So it's an active aspect.

This explains his love for exploring the unknown side of life, for forcing his way past what's considered acceptable. This aspect could also explain someone who stalks others, invades personal space in the most offensive/disgusting way, extremely controlling up to the way people think around them. Wasn't afraid to face the most darkest/occult-like things. He was private with his own personal life but when it came to his victims for example they didn't have any privacy or respect at all, dahmer basically took away all their rights.

To describe this aspect, imagine a private investigator who's supposed to be finding information about a specific event, this person would do more then they are even allowed to do. They will break rules, moral codes, disrespect the law, even do illegal things to get to the bottom of whatever it is they have to do. Like working off the clock and doing your own personal investigation. So socially acceptable behavior/ideas is something a person with this aspect would not have. It pretty much explains the fact that jeffrey dahmer enjoyed killing animals and dissecting their insides, no normal person would go to that length to fill their curiosities. And he continued with this behavior when he started harming humans as well, he was dissecting human hands from his victims and their organs etc. It's like he wanted to see how things worked, what action triggered a reaction. So like injecting acid into a human brain to see if they could be his "zombie sex slave" alive/obedient and unable to defend themselves was his goal. He did lots of experiments I'm sure. Not only that but I noticed that he was not afraid to face death or things a person should not ever see, he was completely comfortable having heads in his refrigerator, the smell of death in his apartment 24/7, even as a kid seeing roadkill didn't even phase him or replulse him like it would anyone else.. so that to me says his comfort level was extreme, he probably wasn't shocked by much tbh.

Moon square Mc: He probably felt unsupported by the people around him, like his comfort style was not relatable to the public. Maybe his emotions, his sense of security was not something everyone could relate to. It was visible to everyone that jeffrey dahmer was a unique, odd, strange person. He could of used people and bodies as a form of security, having them fully to himself, owning them, controlling them made him feel like he had a support system/safe place.

He did try to show off some of the bodies he had, apparently he had a kept a human head in a chest that his grandma gave him and he took that to work, keeping it in his locker. To me that is someone who is proud of what they've done and is showing it off like some trophy/reminder of the power they have. No one knew what was inside the chest but him and that made him feel powerful that he had FULL control of this poor person he mutilated.

His attachments were very different from everyone else's, like to an extreme extent. Most people have attachments to caffeine like me or other things like drug, food, codependency addictions.. but Jeff's was clearly much different..

Venus square uranus: Odd sexual/romantic interests, taste/type, he was probably attracted to odd people or just had unique interests that you would look at him and say "there's no way he's interested in that, he looks like such a normal guy"

This aspect doesn't have to be sadistic like Jeffrey's interests, in general it could explain someone who ends up with partners that are much different from themselves. Like a normal quiet, attractive, man with a crazy, weird, unconventionally attractive woman. So basically is shows an attraction to uniqueness, to a unhealthy extent. In Jeff's case and since this is a squared aspect he had odd even shocking romantic/sexual attraction to death/people. Unusual interests, very specific type and open minded enough to try things sexually that no one's done before, testing the limits of your sexuality. Jeffrey dahmer was so sexually advanced and charged that he probably needed to do crazier and crazier things overtime to keep him satisfied and interested. He probably never had a stable love life if one at all.

Jupiter trine pluto: To me this aspect explains that he enjoyed being in the company of people who were much different from him, with different backgrounds, probably sexual attraction to foreign people. Many of his victims were poc, I think he felt powerful around poc for some reason. Like he knew the power and influence of his "whiteness" that's just my opinion idk how true that is tho, if he used his position to get away with everything. He said in an interview that it wasn't about race and just about how people looked but who knows. Back in the 1970s and 1980s I'm not sure how much racism was a thing back then. If you know anything about that I would love to hear your thoughts.

Moon trine uranus: This could be someone who is comfortable with being different and unique, maybe their emotions were erratic and highly changeable, very smart/intuitive tho. This could be another reason he got away with so much bc he was able to think on his feet and come up with lies on the spot but that could also be enhanced by his mercury/sun conjunction in gemini. They are such good smooth talkers. This aspect also explains that he was not your average monogamous driven person, he liked to have a variety of different interests and probably unique relationships. Like dating their friends, being polygamous, just overall having an unusual love style. His emotions were prone to being quickly triggered and then just as quickly disappearing as if nothing happened. People would have a hard time trying to understand or pin point his emotions. If he was nervous or anxious he could display a straight emotionless face, which makes sense bc even after the police was inside his apartment he was able to manipulate them well enough to believe his lies and not be suspicious.

Taurus in the 8th house: This is an interesting placement, it could explain his intense interest for physical features and sex. He would admire people's bodies after they deceased, he would pose them and take multiple pictures of them in different stages/positions. Arching their back to show off their figure, showing off their l private parts, their abs, skin, faces etc. In the tiktok links I posted the woman describes something like this, def check that out. This could also describe why he liked to eat his victims, like arousal from eating them. Both taurus and 8th house/scorpio are extremely sexual. This could be another reason he preferred to have full control of his victims, so they were not allowed to talk back, fight back, ask for anything in return, he just wanted to have full authority and rulership. He also had a very specific type in people, he paid close attention to every small detail of their bodies and features, he had favorites. His favorite people would stay with him and the ones he didn't want he discarded like trash or just let them free all together.

Taurus possession/greed, Scorpio obsession/control. He has his 2nd house in scorpio and 8th in taurus, to me that's so on point for jeff.. it's hard to explain but if you know anything about astrology you would know why those placements stick out.

Pisces in the 6th house: I think jeff was very spiritual and ritualistic, even delusional when it comes to his daily routine. Like he really believed that if he ate a certain victims body part, it would mean that the person would stay with them forever. For him it wasn't enough to just take their life, r*pe, control them.. he needed to consume them as well to feel even closer to them (8h taurus things) he was also into astrology to, or atleast his own zodiac sign. Bc his favorite movie to watch that apparently put him in the mood to find victims was exorcist 3. The main character was called the gemini killer and I looked into the movie to see what it was about and some sick things were said in it that I bet jeffrey dahmer practiced on his actual victims... he was very impressionable and probably worshipped evil entities/figures. 6h Pisces could also be someone with boundaryless, unorganized, health routines?? Like if this person was unhealed they would do lots of drugs, drinking, not brushing their teeth/showering etc stuff like that. If anything they would pay least attention to details and be kinda unaware of their bad habits. Or it could be the other way around like they cover up all their bad habits to seem perfect when they are far from it. He also did try to connect with the dead, I read somewhere he would have seances with an ouija board when he was younger.

Mars conjunct pluto: My 1st thought on this aspect is annihilator, this person was aggressive, deep, intense, bold, if they're mad at you I would stay far far away. I feel like someone with this aspect would not be afraid of confrontation, if anything they are the ones everyone's afraid of. His expression/passion is straight forward and he wants to explore the dark depths of everything that peaks their interests. My personal opinion is that mars conjunction pluto would automatically make someone a killer/prone to be. If that's not it then they have the potential to be that if you're a threat or give them a reason to become aggressive.

Travis the chimp has this aspect...if you haven't heard of him I suggest looking him up. Travis the chimp I think knew that his owner was giving him medications (xanax) to calm down and go to sleep and he didn't like it so he blew up and lashed out on his owners best friend who came to help her get Travis under control. He should have never been domesticated but the reason I bring him up was bc he severely mutilated his owners best friend.. ripping her face off, biting her fingers off and he would not stop for anything. Even after being stabbed in attempt to stop him.. that should explain to you the intensity of mars conjunct pluto.

Their anger is quick, fast reactions, suspicions, high energy, physically or energetically strong, assertive. He was possibly passive at some point in his life and would do so much for others but eventually things were not reciprocated end up building resentment and resorting to forcing their way, having this obsessive need to get your needs met. He was possesive, jealous, controlling. In the documentaries they mentioned it was less about sex for dennis and more about the company but with this aspect I feel like his sexuality must have been very strong...

Moon conjunct mc: I think this aspect would describe someone who is so sensitive to the feelings of strangers and the public, they might be easily affected by their surroundings esp during childhood. He did have some traumatic experiences as a kid like his mom asking him if he wanted to see his grandpa (who was his fav person), only to realize his grandpa was dead in a box... idk about you guys but I wonder if she did that on purpose to hurt his feelings. But that situation definitely has affected the way he viewed relationships in his adult life.. he started to associate love, peace, trust, safety with death.

Moon conjunct saturn: His emotions were very repressed, not to say that he wasn't an emotional person but it sure seemed like it on the outside. He was probably constantly reminded of his past and all the mean nasty things he's done and what was done to him. His mother must have been very cold and not nurturing, which left him very Insecure and unloved. He has always felt like the responsible one when it comes to nurturing himself and parenting himself since no one was around to do that.

In the documentary of dennis nilsen his mother said she felt uncomfortable around him and was "repulsed" so unlike all the other kids he didn't receive the same affection as the others. She tried to explain this as if it's his fault for her not being a good mom tho..I personally as a mom idc if me and my child have differences I will always be there to make them feel loved and secure. I think his mom was very stern with him and treated him like a worker bee.

Mars conjunct saturn: With this aspect maybe his sexual desires were held back a bit, he could have either had strong discipline or just felt like he wasn't able to preform bc of overthinking, constant self judgement. For some reason he felt it was his duty to be there for others and be the responsible person. Maybe he did too much to help others or become likeable, which pushed everyone away.

Mars conjunct mc: He had the strong desire to make his public life something he put a lot of effort into, he wanted to be recognized, respected, seen for all his good qualities. Strong, passionate, bold, adventurous, independent. Sometimes he may have been seen as selfish and overbearing. They did say on his documentay that he had a good job and on the outside looking in, he just looked normal. It was probably bc he had a lot to hide, so this mars conj mc was a cover up for his real life/interests.

Venus square pluto: A person with this aspect might have an unhealthy obsession with whoever they find attractive, they fall in love easily/deeply, become infatuated with people to the point of stalking. This person has deep control issues that stem from jealousy and insecurities. I feel like dennis nilsen may have been intimidated by alive people, bc humans in general have free will and are able to do whatever they please. But a passive unalived person would not be able to pose a threat to him or hurt his ego, so it's like he wanted to kill all competition and any uncomfortable feelings that may make him feel inferior like he has in the past.. there may have been some trauma related to that, feeling helpless and inferior. So that's why he overpowers others instead of expressing himself in a healthy way.

might be a very complex person in general and no one really wants to take the time to get to know all their layers so they end up feeling isolated and weird.

Mars semisquare uranus: his actions/energy may have been unpredictable and messy, one sec he was fine next minute he was not. This may have been what turned people away from him, he may have acted strangely at the worst moments. Making inappropriate comments or doing inappropriate things. He could of been highly intuitive with his actions/assumptions, but other people were sometimes not as ahead of time as he was so everyone seen him as a crazy unstable person. He was probably impatient and not always reliable

2nd house in scorpio/8th house in taurus: He basically craved loyalty, security, love, intimacy. So he got that by finding the perfect person and making that his main goal. What was valuable to him (same thing for dahmer) was having a loyal, subservient, solid, predictable person in their lives. All they wanted was the assurance that whoever they loved wouldn't leave them, not question them, completely trust them.. trust is something that was hard to find for these two people. I bet they were so intense and strange that people felt unsafe around them. But overall with the 2h Scorpio + 8h in taurus, to them possessing a person was the end goal. They were obsessed with having a physical, tangible, person/thing there with them, it gave them so much security to know they had full control over someone.. even if it was by force.

When you think of a scream queen, there’s no doubt that the wonderful Jamie Lee Curtis comes to mind

Birth Info: 10/22/58 @ 8:37 am (Santa Monica, Cal, USA)

Jamie Lee Curtis is an American actress who’s most famously known for her role as Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise. This character actually marked her first feature film debut in 1978 and she continued to appear in 7 other films in the franchise so misssss is definitely cemented in this role completely. I have to note that she appeared to have been casted in this role specifically based on her mother, Janet Leigh’s, performance in the Hitchcock’s Psycho which is also a film that earned her mother the title of “Scream Queen” as well.

Now let’s take a look at her natal chart:

She was born under a Sag rising at 25 degs with a Scorpio Sun @ 29 degs (11H Placdius and 12H Whole Sign) and an Aries moon @ 19 degs (4H placdius and 5H WHS). Having both her sun and moon in traditional mars ruled signs does represent a sort of survivalist tendencies and defensiveness to the characters she tends to play especially in the Halloween films. Additionally, her 12H WHS sun is ruled by her leo 8H in placidius - she can easily show the depth and pain of the people she plays especially their trauma. Interestingly enough, she’s often seen describing these films around the trauma that her character experiences which is related to the 8H and also her own personal 12H placements (Her Scorpio sun, Jupiter and Neptune in Whole sign). Her character, Laurie, undergoes constant transformations and changes from the experiences she faces with the infamous Michael Myers (SPOILER ALERT: he’s her brother in the films AND funny enough Jamie has mercury in the 12th conjunct Saturn + mercury does rule siblings so it being in the hidden house aka the 12H is really ironic) Can you even imagine the experience of having a sibling that is a serial killer like that shit is so unsettling and isolating. Who can really understand the depth of having to experience that???

Now miss Jamie has a Sag rising but a Libra MC - if we take into account her iconic role and what her motivation is, Her libra MC and libra NN really shine. Laurie in the film was constantly striving to achieve justice for the crimes that Michael Myers committed and throughout all her halloween film appearances, this is what her general task in life seems to be aka the direction that the north node tends to point people towards. Her aries moon is also at a libra degree (19) so this further supports this.

I’d like to note that when the first halloween film was released in 1978, she was in an 8th house profection year ruled by cancer (quick reminder: profection charts use traditional rulers and whole sign so even tho in placdius she has a leo 8th with her natal leo in uranus we still need to look at the whole sign with the traditional ruler)

the ruler is her aries moon in 5th whole sign which is in martian ruled sign and naturally the 8th house rules secret, danger, mysteries etc. In placidius, her moon is in her 4th showing she really had to be defensive and protective of her home and family. its kind of a rant vent.

thank you so much! in 2003 whilst we were camping before moving a couple of guys had been filming me with a camera of that time period as we didnt have smartphones back then. i never told anyone about it cause who would believe me bc only i saw them. i have always wondered why they were there or where they were from? what happened to the camera after they ran off when i went back inside the cabin. how long had they been following me for or who sent them and how did they find me there when we had only just arrived. or if i hadnt run back in side would something bad have happened to me like maddie? i dont even know why i ran back inside the cabin just something about those two guys werent right.

the memory is kind of blurry as it was well over a decade but honestly my experiences with socialising after that became weirder and weirder. it was like whenever i went anywhere even to this day people either look at me like im some alien that speaks in a foreign language, i have had teachers hate my guts or downright ignore me or tutor who pretend to be nice but it was like they wanted me to fail yaknow? classmates endlessly gossiped about me, even when i was with friends my classmate would always say that it was a good thing i hadnt come in earlier bc so and so was saying such mean judgy things or in general just some very weird experiences. even if i did nothing wrong its like theyd just single me out of it or thered be grojps of ppl laughing at me when i was just trying to mind my business it went on for years even to the point i had to go to mental ward cause it was messing with my mind and still does as an adult. cause ppl dont realise how much negative situations can still affect u later on in life.

i think my birth chart really let me down cause its like i always got the short end of the stick in most if not all situations whilst others would succeed and be praised for their work or whatever it was i felt like a scapegoat for other ppls bullshit. i honestly despise how society has turned out. it is not any better than when it was without social media, the internet just gives knobhead bullies places to hide behind their screens.

society always said that ppl need friends and to rely on others or that being nice gets you far in life, bullshit it just means ur an easy target for ppl to be mean to u or to hold misjudgements about u or if u try to be urself and love urself ppl dont seem to like that either. u even see it when kpop idols try to be someone different than what knetz expect like hwasa for example nearly went to jail and all she wanted to do was be herself. see what i mean? its hard work to win people over and you can never force anyone to like you its all based off their first impression of you or what you can offer them in return for their attention and so on

its only going to be worse now with social media being so heavily relied on bc society can then choose who it ignores and who gets more attention than others it really mf sucks at times. it always seem like ppl who are awful or toxic get the most attention or for instance if someone done sometning bad or wrong that get more attention than those who done something good, even serial killers have fan bases. so i dont know anymore. back on the topic of kpop you just know that when idols do start dating publicly it aint going to go well bc internet once again seems to hate when others are happy and successful in their life. all in all i dont think any generation was perfect but i do think older generations had less hassle when they didnt have to constantly be online all the time like everyone is nowadays.

sorry its so long but yeah its been exhausting fr, kpops like a good distraction but only a brief distraction thank you so much again for letting me rant a bit!!

The road from despair to rock Rhett Miller turned his Dallas childhood into a set of American classics with the Old 97’s

Rhett Miller was 14 when he swallowed a handful of pills and washed them down with lighter fluid.

The pills lived in a medicine cabinet, unusually robust because his mother worked for a psychiatrist, and the lighter fluid had the kind of casual skull-and-crossbones toxicity you could find in a house in 1984, the year our story begins but his almost ended.

He filled up a Big Gulp cup with the liquid, no way this couldn’t work, and he sat down in the living room of the empty house on the outskirts of Highland Park, where he’d never fit and didn’t really try to.

Fourteen can be a dark place.

His parents were at the dawn of what Robyn Hitchcock would call “a slow divorce.”

Rhett had a girlfriend, but maybe not anymore.

The despair became overwhelming, and the best way to stop the feeling seemed to be stopping life itself.

It was late afternoon, and his younger sister would be coming home soon.

He’d branded her with the name Christi when he suggested his parents name their only daughter after Corpus Christi, a moment that could be seen as his very first song title, many of which would carry names like Caroline and Victoria and Adelaide, but none of that had happened yet.

He knew Christi would be coming through that door, and it was the first sliver of awareness that punctured the need to disappear.

He hadn’t thought about this part: He was leaving people behind.

He bolted from the house and down the railroad tracks to Knox-Henderson, where he collapsed outside the 7-Eleven, almost certainly not the worst thing to happen in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven, but still very odd.

As fate would have it, an older arts magnet student named Bari was just leaving On the Border, the Tex-Mex restaurant across the street, when she spotted him.

Of course she was beautiful, because that would be our hero’s luck: to be both saved and embarrassed at once.

But the twist at the end was that the oil in the lighter fluid coated his stomach and kept the pills from soaking in; the other twist was that his life had finally begun.

Rhett Miller once boasted in song that he was born in the backseat of a Mustang on a cold night in a hard rain, but actually, he was born in a hospital in Austin, where his father went to law school.

It was Sept. 6, 1970, and Smokey Robinson’s “Tears of a Clown” topped the radio charts, and four passenger airplanes were hijacked that day at the start of the Jordanian civil war’s Black September, but all that must have felt distant to the young, handsome couple who had a child, after many years of trying.

The birth certificate read Stewart Ransom Miller II, and many years later a classic song would prove that if you drop the number, the name rhymes with “serial lady killer,” but they would call him Rhett.

His mother, Ann, loved Gone with the Wind’ s Rhett Butler.

She was kind and accommodating, a classic TV mom.

Her first child was precocious, with the long eyelashes and pink cheeks of a Gerber baby.

A tiny pinprick of a mole on his chin would grow larger as he did.

The family moved to Dallas and added new members.

Next came a second son Ross, then daughter Christi.

They lived in a two-story home on a leafy street where Rhett’s father, Randy, was raised, but Randy’s own father had squandered the family fortune on the first incarnation of the Dallas Texans and a series of radio stations that lost money.

Armstrong Elementary is in the wealthiest section of a very wealthy part of Dallas, flush with oil money and real-estate mavens and kids who live on Beverly Drive, and our hero might have had a small grudge against inherited wealth.

(Later line: “The new kid, he’s got money, the money I deserve.”)

He looked into private schools.

He found Bard College at Simon’s Rock, a boarding school in the Hudson Valley, but good luck with that.

He also found the elite St. Mark’s, slightly closer to home near Preston Hollow.

His grandmother was a receptionist, but she had an Air Force pension that could cover the cost, and Rhett was close with his mother’s mom.

They were Scrabble buddies.

He was 10 when he went for his interview, and the teacher asked what he was reading.

He told her about The Catcher in the Rye . The Phoebe character spoke to him.

The teacher looked at him like, “Who told you to read Catcher in the Rye ?”

Of course, he threw his mom under the bus, but he got accepted.

He was never the best student, but he read, and he read, and he read. F. Scott Fitzgerald, Charles Bukowski, Kurt Vonnegut.

St. Mark’s came with friends, good times at last.

But seventh grade came with hormones and consequences.

He’d be playing sports, and the jock-types would tackle him, pin him to the ground as they straddled him, whispered in his ear that he was gay, though they used another word.

He’d be thinking, you’re the one grinding on me .

The boy with long eyelashes and rosy cheeks wasn’t the one you wanted in your circle.

Friends dropped him, and the social exile pushed him toward music. He picked up a guitar.

It was an Ovation 12-string acoustic, with its wooden front and rounded plastic back, a cliche for a teen folkie, but to be fair, that’s what he was.

The family spent summers close to Fargo, N.D., in Brainerd, Minn.

His mom’s best friend had a cabin in that desolate place.

After dinner and before bedtime, the Millers read books aloud, and Rhett was the performer among them, so in the summer of his 13th year, he read Vincent Bugliosi’s Helter Skelter to the family.

If the Manson murders don’t exactly sound like a lullaby, maybe you didn’t come of age in the ’80s, or maybe you don’t realize Charles Manson was big in the Miller family.

The book was riveting, so explosive in our hero’s imagination that it inspired him to write his first song.

“You killed the actress and the hairdresser too. Charlie what did they ever do to you?”

It was a start.

But 14 brought a breaking point.

His parents, his girlfriend, love curdled into loss.

Many years later, he would write a line that more or less summed up his entire catalog.

“I’m gonna sing this song forever about a girl that I once knew, and how she is always leaving. This is what I do.”

He listened to music in his hospital bed.

The first side of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts’ I Love Rock ’N Roll , over and over.

The seduction of “Crimson and Clover,” the growl of “Love Is Pain.”

He listened to David Bowie’s Hunky Dory .

“Turn and face the strange ch-ch-changes,” Bowie insisted right up front, an anthem, an instruction manual, a door that opened onto other doors.

“Life on Mars?” and “Andy Warhol” were rooms you could escape into like a novel, a universe written in verse and sound that reminded listeners they could be whatever they wanted — and Rhett Miller wanted to be an artist.

Rhett’s first gig was at 500 Cafe by Fair Park.

This was April 1987, and he was 16, sandwiched on a bill between psychedelic punkers Peyote Cowboys and Three on a Hill, the band everyone thought would make it out.

The guitarist for Peyote Cowboys was Murry Hammond, a bespectacled and exceedingly nice 22-year-old from Boyd, a small town outside Fort Worth.

Hammond’s mother liked the unconventional way the neighbor’s boy spelled his name, Murry, so she copied it for her own child, but the unconventional shape of Murry’s life would be his own doing.

He tried a year at college, but music called to him.

Minor Threat, Black Flag, ’60s garage bands.

He got Rhett’s songwriting immediately.

Classic pop-song structures, the same way the Beatles built their hits during Beatlemania.

Clever lyrics, very literary.

“Songs for Truman Capote” was an early one.

“His smile’s all syrup and his eyes are all sad, didn’t have a mother, had a pusher for a dad.”

They went to see the Ramones.

Murry thought Rhett looked like Raggedy Andy, with those big red circles on his cheeks and the kind of beauty unmarked by the world.

Rhett slid into the van in his leather jacket, and Murry thought, “Oh, sweet boy.” He could see it immediately: the kid who gets picked on at school, even though he’s the coolest one. Murry had two brothers, but he had just met another.

Rhett was operating as a free agent in those days.

He was still going to St. Mark’s, but he got his own apartment at 16.

He drove a 1969 Cadillac hearse.

He placed a futon in the back, because the car had curtains in the windows, Love City on wheels.

Never worked.

No girl would venture back there.

There were bloodstains on the back floorboard.

He played up to four gigs a week.

Arcadia on Lower Greenville, the Prophet Bar over Theater Gallery in Deep Ellum.

One summer, he lived in the Mitchell Building, an artist warehouse down by Fair Park.

His first manager lived there, and one night Rhett fell asleep on the concrete floor of the guy’s pad.

He woke up to find the guy’s hand down his pants, and the first words out of Rhett’s mouth were, “You’re fired.”

The music scene is no place for a kid, but the Dallas music scene was a very good place for an aspiring artist of the mid-’80s.

The New Bohemians blasted out of Deep Ellum with “What I Am,” a groovy little toe tapper that climbed the charts and left talent scouts wondering who was next. Maybe Rhett Miller?

“This kid is no kid ,” wrote Clay McNear in the Dallas Observer .

“Kids talk about the most innocuous things: Rambo, Madonna, crushes, hairstyles and attitudes, Spuds MacKenzie.”

It was 1987, and Rhett Miller was talking about other things.

Drugs and blasphemy and brokenness. “A folk singer has to be a truer reporter than any newsman,” he told Detour Magazine in 1988.

That was his first big photo shoot, and the photographer and stylist got the genius idea to braid his shoulder-length hair into cornrows.

Terrible suggestion, even then.

He tried to push back, but he was young, and they were not, so it happened.

You could try to control your image, but the media had its own ideas.

Russell Smith in The Dallas Morning News : “He’s named after Rhett Butler, and he’s prettier than Scarlett O’Hara.”

He put out his first solo album in 1989 on a label called Carpe Diem. Mythologies was 13 songs, somewhere between Arlo Guthrie and David Bowie.

He barely graduated from St. Mark’s, which bent over backward to make sure he passed.

Rock legend Steve Miller had gotten kicked out of St. Mark’s, and the school would not make that mistake again.

He got a full ride to Sarah Lawrence, the private college in upstate New York.

But it wasn’t what he expected, and he lasted only a semester.

He called his mom and told her he wanted to live with Murry, take his chances with music.

His mother insisted he couldn’t give up a full ride, but he told her the college agreed to hold the scholarship for five years.

And five years later, his band was signed to Elektra.

The Old 97’s weren’t the Old 97’s at first.

Rhett and Murry lived in Marquita Court Apartments off Lower Greenville, and they were playing in a good band called Sleepy Heroes, and a series of musical experiments called Rhett’s Third Eye and Rhett’s Exploding, which went about as well as you’d imagine.

In fall 1992, a guy from Tyler was playing the accordion on the porch of the apartments.

Ken Bethea was an East Texas kid who had gone to the University of North Texas and bitten into the apple that was the Denton alt-music scene.

He had a lame job in the defense industry, but he played banjo and guitar, and a guy named Robert Jenkins in the apartments told him he had to meet his buddy Rhett.

Jenkins was the unseen actor in the Old 97’s formation, another artsy oddball from St. Mark’s who’d become Rhett’s running buddy and unofficial roadie.

When Rhett would later sing, “If Robert’s dad is right, we might not make it through the night,” he was talking about Jenkins.

Ken got introduced to Rhett Miller soon after that.

Ken thought he looked fidgety.

Looking back, it’s likely that Rhett knew what Ken did not: The band was finally coming together.

What really stuck with Ken, though, was how Rhett looked like someone straight out of a novel.

The fancy private school, the cigarette, the way he talked.

No doubt.

This was a real-life Holden Caulfield.

They played as a three-piece for a while, but they needed a drummer.

There was just so much energy coming off Rhett when he was onstage only percussion could match it.

Ken knew a drummer from his old band, the Smeg Winfields.

Philip Peeples grew up in Lake Highlands, where he played in the high school marching band, and he was another UNT kid, into classic cars and classic rock.

He was thoughtful, but he could seriously pound.

By September 1993, a year after Ken met Murry and Rhett, they were finally a four-piece, a full band.

Murry came up with the name the Old 97’s.

He was a train obsessive, and “Wreck of the Old 97” was a Johnny Cash song about a train wreck (cool) and Joe Strummer had The 101ers before the Clash (also cool).

One thing Ken Bethea knew was that he wasn’t going to be in some band named after Rhett Miller.

Rhett’s Fulminating, Rhett’s Second Nose, none of that.

Being in a band named for the lead singer meant any other player could get fired, no big deal, and Ken Bethea wasn’t into being a sideman.

So Murry wrote “The Old 97’s” on a square paper restaurant napkin and left it for Rhett when he went to work.

Rhett didn’t need convincing.

The name fit.

The rest, as they say, is rock ’n’ roll.

If you really wanna hear about it, you’ll have to read the magazines.

It’s all there, no further than a few Google searches.

The smashing local debut of Hitchhike to Rhome , the Bloodshot Records follow-up of Wreck Your Life , then the Elektra years: Too Far to Care , Fight Songs , Satellite Rides , albums that won them a loyal fan base that was never big enough for a big label, which dropped the Old 97’s and kept Rhett in one of the tensest moments in the band’s history, but if you know Rhett by now, you know he did not quit the Old 97’s.

“We’ve been doing this longer than you’ve been alive,” he sang on 2015’s Most Messed Up , “propelled by some mysterious drive.”

They were middle-aged men by then.

There had been girls, and marriages, and moves, and betrayals, and too many celebrities to name.

Joan Jett, REM, Roseanne Cash. Bruce Springsteen once greeted Rhett by quoting the chorus of an Old 97’s classic.

“What’s so great about the Barrier Reef?” said the Boss. “Man, I love your band.”

Rhett never met David Bowie, but David Bowie met him, having snuck into an underground New York show and settled into a private booth.

There were oceans of alcohol, but that dried up for Rhett when he got sober in 2015.

There were kids, and Rhett had two, Max and Soleil, and as he watched them grow up, he grew alongside them.

He had a gig at a Montana resort playing for folks in the evening, still the after-dinner entertainment nearly four decades after he read Helter Skelter out loud.

He was sitting alone strumming his favorite Gibson guitar on the bank of the Blackfoot River, which was actually green, and the chord progression coming to him was very Old 97’s, and the words were easy, soft as a lullaby.

“From downtown Dallas to a cabin on the coast, from the shadow of the towers to the sun in Ohio, from the bottom of a bottle to the palazzo, who knows where the road goes.”

Is there any rock cliche worse than a road song?

Maybe a love song, but then without those, where would rock music even be?

The chorus fell out of him. “Oh, you could have died that day.

Back when you thought none of this was worth it, when you thought everything was broken.”

A life holds too much emotion to contain.

That’s why we need the music. “Where the Road Goes” would become the third song on American Primitive , the band’s 13th studio album.

The part the magazines might not mention, because the boy who grew into the lead singer may not actually realize it, is what a big heart the rock star turns out to have.
