I have a query and I'm sorry that this question is going to upset you in advance. I see a post circling on here about Holocaust survivors apparently saying that Palestinians are exactly like them during attacks on Gaza. I just scroll past it because I have poor attention span that cannot stay focused more than one sentence but I wanted to know your opinion on this post or if you have seen it. Again, deep apologies that this ask is upsetting. Thank you for still being here and sharing with us.
Hi Nonnie!
Thank you for the kind way you approached this.
I have seen a post that might be the one you're referring to... It's a screenshot of a tweet:
Tumblr media
The original tweet shows an interview with one Holocaust survivor. The response falsely expands this to survivors, in the plural, as if this one tweet shows a whole movement of Holocaust survivors, that people simply refuse to listen to.
The original tweet comes from an account that calls itself a "media company," but has no website (something I would expect from an actual media company), and is at least 80% tweets that are anti-Israel and anti-Jewish. I'll give you an example. We all know Elon Musk has allowed antisemitism to thrive on Twitter, all kinds of it, including the white supremacist type, and others that have nothing to do with Israel. In an attempt to educate him, he was invited to a tour of Auschwitz. But apparently, according to this "media company," that was just meant to stop anti-genocide speech on his social media platform:
Tumblr media
Of the up to 20% of tweets this "media company" posts or shares, many are anti-democratic or in support of dictatorial regimes.
Tumblr media
This account also amplified the words of Julius Malema, leader of the South African EFF party, as he justified the Oct 7 massacre, and demanded support for the (genocidal) Hamas and its "resistance."
Tumblr media
Malema himself has repeatedly sang, "Kill the Boer," a song which many understand as a genocidal chant against the Boers, the South Africans of Dutch descent. This guy is a controversial figure at best, doesn't seem to have an issue with an actual genocide, and this "media company" upholds his words as if he is a role model.
Tumblr media
But if this account tweets Israel hate, then I guess the Tumblr user who passed the tweet along has no issue with how questionable of a source this is.
I recognized the face of the survivor. This is what it looks like in the cut off screenshot in the Tumblr post I saw:
Tumblr media
So how did I recognize him? Because the number of anti-Zionist Holocaust survivors is SO small (around 5), and I have seen every single one of them repeatedly tokenized by antisemites so much, that I'm familiar with the name and face of each. The man in this vid is Hajo Meyer, who died in 2014. He couldn't possibly make any comments about Hamas' massacre on Oct 7, 2023 and the war in Gaza since, unless this "media company" has managed to somehow contact the afterlife. Here's a screenshot from Google, showing a recent re-upload of this vid to IG:
Tumblr media
And here's a very brief bio, mentioning his date of death:
Tumblr media
I'm guessing that "media company" didn't name him, or specify the date out of the vid, because it didn't want people to know the guy was dead, and the views he expressed were pre-Hamas' massacre.
Hajo Meyer was, without a doubt, an anti-Zionist. But would he still be using this rhetoric after Oct 7, after the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, after better understanding the kind of threat that Israel and Jews worldwide (since Hamas has tried to target Jews in European countries as well, including in the Netherlands, where Meyer lived) are facing from this genocidal terrorist organization ruling Gaza? IDK. I'd like to think he would be better than to continue distorting the Holocaust through this false comparison, but I can't say for sure, and I'm not about to claim that I do, putting words in his mouth just to exploit a dead Holocaust survivor. The fact that the anti-Israel crowd would continue to tokenize (meaning, exploit) a dead survivor like that, as if anyone could know for sure that Meyer would continue to toe the same line, just shows there really is no moral low they can't stoop to.
And here I wanna emphasize how wrong this antisemitic practice is, tokenizing Jews. Because no marginalized group is immune to the hatred spread against it, there will ALWAYS be some of its members, who will internalize and embrace poison aimed at it. There were gay Nazis (the notorious Ernest Roehm was the highest ranking one) and we also have contemporary gay neo-Nazis. So, should we use them in order to pretend that Nazi ideology is not homophobic? That it didn't harm hundreds of thousands of gay people? No, we know that the overwhelming majority of gay people suffered due to it, and would insist that Nazism IS homophobic. So, using those few exceptions to ignore (and embolden) the homophbia of this ideology, ends up being homophobic in itself. Embracing the unrepresentative few over the representative, mainstream majority of a marginalized group in "exonerating" what the group says is hateful and harmful towards it, ends up being hateful and harmful in itself.
And that's what people who only listen to the few anti-Zionist Holocaust survivors are doing. They're basically saying, "Listen to Holocaust survivors!" but they mean only the few who say what the anti-Israel movement does. All the other survivors they ignore, dismiss, silence or even erase.
They're ignoring the voices of the overwhelming majority of Holocaust survivors who WERE (and are) Zionist. Who do not agree with this distorted narrative. Yad Vashem estimates that two thirds of Holocaust survivors came to Israel at the end of WWII, and many more supported Israel even when they chose to settle elsewhere. Just recently, we had a group of 870 American survivors (along with their descendants, altogether 2,500 Jews) thank Biden for standing with Israel after the Hamas massacre. These anti-Israel haters are also erasing the survivors who were themselves targeted on Oct 7, whether threatened, kidnapped, injured or murdered (I've talked about several in my posts on this blog). This anti-Israel mob is exploiting Hajo Meyer even in ignoring that if he had been alive and present in Israel, even just to visit a friend or family member, he would have been targeted, too. These haters are ignoring survivors who said that what Hamas has done is similar to what the Nazis did (I've talked about several of them in my posts on this blog, too. All can be found in my Israel tag).
It is unconscionable, to treat most Holocaust survivors like they don't count, and only see a (literal) handful of anti-Zionist ones as if they do. And it certainly does NOT show the respect the anti-Israel haters imply survivors are owed, through the demand that we all defer to the opinion of the survivors, but ONLY the few anti-Zionist ones.
All that said, off the top of my head, here's a small number of HUGE differences between the Holocaust, and the Israeli-Arab conflict, and anyone ignoring them IS guilty of distorting the Holocaust.
-> The Holocaust did NOT start due to Jews repeatedly murdering Germans on German soil, in an attempt to keep Germans down and prevent them from establishing self rule in the German ancestral land. The Holocaust was completely unprovoked, unjustified and one-sided. Every oppressive measure taken by the Nazis against the Jews, was motivated by antisemitism, and was NOT a reaction to Jewish anti-German terrorism, that the Nazis had to protect their German citizens from. Speaking of unprovoked, unjustified and for a very long time one-sided, that describes the Arab anti-Jewish violence that preceded the establishment of the State of Israel by almost 100 years. But Jewish self-defense in this conflict, which only started about 50 years after said violence began, was provoked, was justified, was a response to what was done to the Jews first.
-> The Holocaust did NOT consist of Jews on German soil collaborating militarily with several Jewish countries surrounding Germany, with the goal of these combined Jewish armies invading and wiping it off the map, in order to prevent German self rule. Guess what the Arabs did to the Jews...
-> The Holocaust did NOT entail repeated German efforts to find a solution for how Jews and Germans could live together on the same land. In pre-state Israel, Jews did try repeatedly to reach an understanding that would allow Jews and Arabs to peacefully share (and co-exist in) the Jewish ancestral land.
-> When Jews finally started rebelling against the Nazis, they did NOT try to get as many Jewish civilians as possible killed. On the contrary, the outbreak of the most famous Jewish revolt, the one in the Warsaw Ghetto, was postponed until the Nazis entered, and the Jewish fighters believed this to be the final 'liquidation' of the ghetto (meaning, the deportation and extermination of the roughly 60,000 Jews still alive there). Only then did they fight back, because (in their own words), they did not want their decision to rebel to cost another Jew "even one hour of life." Compare that to how Hamas has been using Palestinian civilians as human shields. Or even to the Arab leadership back in 1948, which did not hesitate in risking or displacing the entire Arab population in the Land of Israel, in favor of fighting what they called "an extermination war" against the Jews.
-> The Holocaust did NOT see a single day where Germans worked en masse to try and alleviate the suffering of Jews, whether by providing them with humanitarian aid, or by moving them to areas where they would be safe from death. That's in direct contrast to Israel's efforts to make Palestinians' lives better, whether through humanitarian aid, work permits in Israel that guarantee a higher salary and better social rights, medical treatments, warnings when a terrorist target is about to be struck, etc.
-> The Holocaust was NOT supposed to end with even one Jew alive at the end of it. The Germans were going for total extermination of the Jewish people. All Jews who had German citizens were stripped of it in 1935, even before the most murderous parts of this genocide commenced. In contrast, Israel did NOT seek to kill all Arabs, there were many calls for Arabs not to flee Israel and the war which the Arab leadership had started, at the end of the war Israel gave citizenship to 150,000 Arabs who did not leave and did not take arms against Jews, and there was even an offer for tens of thousands of Arabs to return (Weitzmann presented it to the UN), if they do so peacefully. Just a few thousands accepted that offer, but those who did, got citizenship and land.
-> The Nazis were so eager to kill every Jew, that they came to the conclusion they HAD to industrialize their genocide of the Jewish people. That's why they built extermination camps with gas chambers at their core. Auschwitz alone could, on certain days, kill about 20,000 people. No Jew was meant to leave those camps alive. The crematoria were mass murder factories. ANY crime that you want to compare to the Holocaust specifically, you have to show that it includes this industrialization element. Currently, NO GENOCIDE, no matter how horrific, has. And God help us all, I hope it stays that way (this is one of the reasons why the Holocaust mustn't be distorted or minimized. We can't prevent something from happening, if we don't understand what HAS happened, and that we're trying to stop from being repeated). There is not a SINGLE thing in the history of the Israeli-Arab conflict that comes CLOSE to being an industrialized form of massacre. Even the brutality of Hamas on Oct 7, the single bloodiest day in the history of this conflict for either side, doesn't come close.
-> While there are still Jews around, meaning the Holocaust as conceptualized by the Nazis failed, it was so deadly, that it DID lead to the murder of around 70-80% of the Jews living under the Nazi occupation over a short number of years. Even more than 80 years after the end of the Holocaust, Jews have not recovered demographically. Meanwhile, the Palestinian population has increased by about 10 times since Israel's Independence War. But let's say people wanna claim that just this current war is comparable to the Holocaust. There are presently around 7 million Arabs in the territories of the Jewish ancestral land, of which about 2 million are Israeli citizens. I'm gonna go with the anti-Israel narrative for a second, which claims ALL of them are occupied and oppressed by Israel (even though they're not). In order for the ruin of Palestinians to be indeed on the same level, that would mean 70-80% of them would have to be murdered by Israel during the war. Let's go with the lower percent, so it's easier for the anti-Israel crowd to reach the number of deaths that would support their claim. To have killed 70% of 7 million, that would mean Israel would have to kill 4.9 million Arabs in this so-called "genocide." Even if we exclude Israeli Arabs, and only focus on the 5 million Palestinians living in areas where the Israeli army currently operates (imagine the German Nazis allowing Jews safety inside Germany, and only killing them outside it *eyeroll*), that would mean at least 3.5 million Palestinians killed. But after almost 5 months of this war, the number of Palestinian fatalities, as claimed by Hamas, is around 30,000 people (I'm putting aside the fact that at least 12,000 are Hamas terrorists). The gap between what is happening, and what people who make this false comparison are implying is happening, is incomprehensible.
Sorry for the length, but I hope this is helpful!

Imagine Charles Leclerc who dated all your friends because he cannot have you.
It's not that you don't want him—God only knows how many times you wished to all the stars in the sky for you to have him—but it's because you were afraid. Of what? Of what would come if the relationship would not work.
"What if we'll work? What if we'll be happy?" he asked you that once, when you were both seventeen and he was steadily rising in his career as a racer. But you pride yourself to be an intelligent woman, always practical and never to be swayed by feelings. You would not sacrifice an almost two decade friendship over a what-if.
So while you pursue your career in architecture, he began dating your friends. It's petty. It's cruel. It's unfair. Not just to him or to you but the poor girls who thought he loved them when it was you he was imagining when he kissed them.
It hurt when it happened the first time. Then, you realized that you had to suck it up because this was the mountain you chose to climb. It was a good thing that you were always the best at keeping your emotions at bay.
On his first breakup with his first girlfriend, he was the one who told you first. He came by your house, the one next to his childhood home, and told you personally. You had shook your head at him, disappointed but not surprised.
"Who dumped who?"
"It was her."
"Good for her."
Then, he helped you cook dinner, you ate together and he left after. You spent the next morning comforting your friend, listening to her two-hours long rant patiently. Guilt crept up at the back of your skull because you were the one who introduced them both.
The next time you learned Charles was dating again, it was through Twitter. You shrugged it off at first, not interested at the news because the fans can be full of exaggeration sometimes. You trusted that Charles would personally tell you if he had found someone. Like he did before. Because Charles will never ever keep secrets from you.
Then, a week later, on the third Wednesday of the month where you, your brother, and your dearest Mama visit the Leclercs for the usual dinner get-together, and she brought her along.
"Charlotte?" you blinked in surprise when you saw her, pretty as always. "What are you—"
Then, Charles appeared right behind her and kissed her on the cheek.
"Oh."
Of fucking course, he chose Charlotte. Charlotte who also lived next door. Charlotte who had been your friend since highschool. Charlotte whom you shared similar interests in architecture and art. Charlotte who worked the same job as you. Charlotte who looked uncannily similar to you and you fucking know why Charles chose her. He had been searching for you in everything, in every person, and he seemed to have found familiarity in Charlotte's arms but it's not fair to her.
You resisted the urge to punch him the entire evening.
Dinner went great. Mrs. LeBlanc's cooking will always be one of the best things served on a dinner table but even if she cooked your favorite food, you barely had the strength to swallow it. The entire focus of the conversation was on Charlotte's and Charles' relationship and fuck, that made you feel like dying.
Is it jealousy? Is it guilt? You did not know. You wished it was the latter.
You confronted Charles later that evening, in the privacy of his childhood home. The familiar faces of his racing heroes are the audience of your entire debate.
"Stop this, Charles. Charlotte does not deserve this."
He is an asshole. Truly, an asshole. Unfortunately, you were the reason for him being like that.
"Why would I? I'm happy now."
"Are you truly? Do you like her?"
You saw his jaw tense, "I will learn."
"Stop searching for me in other people. That's not fair to them." You wanted to be the one who had the last say.
Then, they went steady for almost three years. And you thought perhaps Charles learned to love Charlotte as he said. You cried every time you thought about it. The four walls of your bedroom listened to you weep every fortnight when you felt extra lonely and your best friend was oceans away, chasing his dreams at high speed, and you imagined what it would be like to be in Charlotte's place.
In the morning, you became alright.
Another third Wednesday dinner and Charles brought Charlotte again, and this time, you wanted to be free from this. Charles was happy. Charlotte was happy. You can't be the only one unhappy. So you told him: "I'm happy for you. Thank you for loving Charlotte."
Then, he fucking broke up with her two days later.
He came by the apartment, told you the news before Charlotte even told you through text, and God, you felt like screaming at him then and there. Yet, you remained calm, staring at him blankly.
"Why?"
"She wasn't you."
"Fuck you, Charles."
From there, it became a full blown argument. Charles was emotional. You were too unemotional. A perfect balance.
"Why can't you just love me?" he asked, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Because!" you cut yourself off. You loved him. God, you loved him so, so much. But you will not tell him that. You cannot. So you sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. As calmly as you can, you said, "Just stop, Charles."
He opened his mouth, probably to argue with you because he refuses to have you withdrawing from this argument. He let you run away a lot of times before. But not tonight.
"Please..."
And it was like a switch. Charles' fury dissipated at a single world that came from your mouth.
"Okay."
He turned around to leave and then opened the door but before he could fully exit, he asked, "Can I know at least? What is wrong with me that you won't even consider loving me?"
You let out a shaky breath.
"I don't know," you lied.
He nodded and left.
You knew he'll keep doing it. Dating girls who are either your friends or girls who look like you. Alexandra...Jenessa....Elodie. The last girl was Janine.
"I broke up with her."
You didn't even bother asking him why. Just handed him a chilled bottle of beer from the fridge.
"Because she wasn't you."
"I know," you said blankly. You're used to this. Used to the ache in your heart when he decides to date your friends or girls who look like you. Used to the anxiety that overcame you on the nights when you wonder if he finally stopped looking at his girlfriend while imagine you instead. Used to the guilty relief when he tells you they broke up.
It had been years. You're beginning to get tired. He should move on. You should move on. But whatever is holy enough residing in the skies above is just plain cruel.
"Why wouldn't you love me?"
"I do love you, Charles."
"As a friend."
More than that actually, you thought but never had the guts to say it out loud.
"You know I'm an awful human being, dating girls who resemble you because you won't like me back. It's the closest thing I could have of you."
"I know."
"You're also an awful human being, rejecting me and rejecting me and for what?"
"You're drunk."
"I know."
"That's my line."
He sighed.
"Is this because of what happened with Olivier?"
Olivier was another kid who lived in the same neighborhood. He used to be close friends with you and Charles. You started dating when you were both 15 but the relationship tragically ended when you were 16. The thing about Olivier is that he could not go back to just being friends with you and that devastated you because Olivier was such a good friend. You knew what it was like to lose Olivier—as a girlfriend and as a best friend.
God forbid you lose Charles, too.
You won't have anyone anymore.
When you hesitated, he knew he was right.
"Fuck it. Can't believe my happiness is stopped by a childish guy who cheated on you when we were teens."
"Charles."
"I won't cheat on you."
"That's not it, Charles."
"Then what is it?!" he was raising his voice again. "I have been stuck wondering what was wrong with me that you—you—"
He didn't even finish his sentence as he furiously wiped his tears.
"Just give me a chance, please."
Should you or should you not? It took years and six girlfriends. Should you free him from this torment and cage yourself with the fear of losing him every day?

Friends to Lovers with Wilbur
CC!Wilbur x Reader (mentioned Tommyinnit)
Anyone new: follow @modelbus as that is my real account and this is no longer in use but cannot be deleted.
Just a bunch of little scenarios about a friends to lovers arc with Wilbur :)
>Holding hands for just a bit too long
You're both in a pretty large crowd at Disney for one of Tommy's vlogs, struggling to get to the castle.
Seriously, it felt like everyone had just decided to congregate right there at that exact time.
Tommy was able to slip through the small gaps, leaving you and Wilbur far behind to struggle. Wilbur had complained loudly about it, but it hadn't deterred the boy from pushing ahead.
"We're going to lose each other." Wilbur had groaned, losing sight of the blond hair.
"I'll just stick by you, and we can catch up." You said, laughing nervously.
Of course, immediately after you said that a person forces themselves between you two. You get jostled by a few more people, losing sight of him too.
"Jesus." Wilbur huffs, breaking through people to grab your hand. "I saw his hair, come on."
Not wanting to get left behind, you grip his hand tightly as he pulls you through the crowd. (totally not because his hand is warm and you've had a crush on him for ages. Definitely not that)
Eventually you two burst through the crowd, but you don't drop each other's hands. His grip doesn't loosen in the slightest, so yours doesn't either.
"Tommy!" Wilbur yells.
Tommy turns around, grinning. "Look at how cool this is! Wait, are you guys holding hands?"
You both immediately drop each other's hands, and you look away when you feel red rising to your cheeks.
"Yeah, because you left us in a giant crowd." Wilbur laughs, sounding unbothered. "Now what's cool?"
>Someone mistakes them for a couple and they both get really flustered
Wilbur and you are out at lunch, chatting about your lore plans for later.
The waitress comes to take your drink orders, glancing between the two of you with a smile. Wilbur knows your order, so he just orders for you.
Before she walks away, she says something. "You're a cute couple, by the way."
"O-oh." You stutter. "Um, we're not a couple."
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" The waitress responds, eyes as wide as yours are. You have the be as red as she is, too.
When you look at Wilbur, he's also red. He's probably so uncomfortable while you can't help but almost like being confused for a couple.
"Why would she ever take us for a couple?" You blurt out, forcing a laugh.
His smile waivers, and you mentally wince. In the end, he agrees. "Yeah."
>Falling asleep on his shoulder
After a long day in London, you wanted nothing more than to pass out.
The soothing motion of the train and the warmth of your hoodie is lulling you to sleep, forcing your limbs to become heavier by the second.
You keep yawning, regretting sitting next to Wilbur on the aisle and not the window. He's busy on Twitter or something with earbuds in, and you don't want to disturb him by asking to swap spots.
Eventually though, you're just too tired to resist the allure of falling asleep,
Your head drops onto his shoulder while you try to convince yourself it was completely normal. Friends sleep on their friends, right?
After a second you feel his head drop on top of yours. Glad he isn't shoving you off him, you doze off while using him as a pillow.
He shakes you awake when the train arrives, an apologetic smile on his face.
"Come on darling, we're here."
You're too tired at the moment to register what he just called you, but later you spend the entire night thinking about it.

Palestinians to platform, part 1
مؤمن الناطور / Moumen Al-Natour
@MoumALnatour
رئيس الشباب الفلسطيني للتنمية / President of Palestinian Youth for Development
Moumen Al-Natour is amazing. Not only does he run a Palestinian youth organization that is doing great work in Gaza, but he's also one of the organizers of the 2019 anti-Hamas protests.
Even to criticize Hamas, in Gaza, means to be interrogated, and potentially jailed, tortured, and/or killed. To actively protest Hamas is many times more dangerous.
To have survived that work and continued doing it? I cannot imagine the emotional strength this dude has.
Here's what Center for Peace Communications (another great organization) has said about him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So many Palestinians, in or from Palestine, are out there talking about what everyday life in Gaza is like. About Hamas, about Israel, about what they want and what they need, about their struggles and their interests and their families.
My goal, in finding people for you to follow and platform, is to help more voices get out of Gaza after years of suppression, and to help more outsiders (like me) connect with them.
People care SO MUCH about Palestine. But frequently, all there is to share is outrage, semi-accurate news, and more outrage. Frequently, we're not calling for the same things they are. We call for a ceasefire; they demand Hamas return the hostages and surrender. We call for Israel to let aid in; they say Israel is letting the aid in, but it's being stolen, and call for air drops rather than trucks. We call for Israel to stop fighting; they say they hope Israel takes Hamas out first.
We aren't centering their voices and experiences. We aren't lending our reach and our strength to their demands.
I want to make that possible.
Tumblr media
Ala Mushtaha, the son of this imam, evidently said, “On Saturday December 30, our front door was busted down and twenty masked men barged in and took my father, a widely respected and deeply learned imam here in Gaza."
“One dragged him by his head and another grabbed him by his beard. My younger brother tried to intervene and reason with the kidnappers, but they beat him. I have a medical condition that makes it hard for me to breathe, so all I could do was watch as the horror unfolded.
“He wouldn’t preach what Hamas told him to. He refused to tell Gazans that violent resistance and obedience to Hamas, is the best way out of our current hell.”
ok this dude needs his own post honestly, he goes on to say so much intense stuff about their lives.
OMG his dad was actually released!
Tumblr media
This is what I'm talking about. This is effective activism. Imagine what all these people could do if they had the entire global pro-Palestinian movement behind them.
Al-Natour posts a fair amount of political commentary.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "we want to live" hashtag is a callback to the amazing "We Want To Live" protests he co-organized against Hamas, in Gaza in 2019, and again in the summer of 2023. Activist Hamida Howidzy (who will also be getting a separate post) wrote about them in Newsweek recently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some things he posts in Arabic and then in English. Some of his posts are in Arabic only. In the thread above, he actually posted a couple more that were just in Arabic, presumably aimed at Arabic-language comments.
What I like about Twitter is that you can whack the "translate post" button and get a pretty decent translation most of the time.
Tumblr media
Translation:
"I saw all the responses... What is wrong and forbidden in reuniting the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem through elections in which the people choose who will represent them??!?? Why are all the responses offensive...a collaborator, a traitor, and contain insults that indicate that whoever wrote them needs restructuring?! What prevents us, after ending the war, from returning our choice and choice to the Palestinian people?!+
Tumblr media
"Everyone wrote that I opened??!! how did you know???!! Stopping the war is the most important thing now... Whoever sees the condition of the people and feels all this is easy for him does not have humanity, and is not a human being... Whoever, after the destruction of more than 80% of Gaza and the North, and still writing in a way that wants the war to continue while he lives abroad, should reconsider. He accepted to live the same suffering!++"
Note: I copied the "I opened" bit and threw it into Google Translate separately, because that cannot be right. It still insisted that it meant "I opened".... but it gave me the transliterated words, "ani fatah."
Everyone wrote that he's Fatah -- the party that runs the West Bank, the one Hamas violently kicked out of Gaza in 2007-08.
Tumblr media
"The end of my speech... I know... whoever is not with you is a traitor and an agent... shameful... by God, by God, by God... there will be an account[ing] for all of this talk... so that you understand the word agent... and the account will be through a government of law... It is clear that there are many who benefit from the poverty and destruction of Gaza, and they must be held accountable according to the law.
"Have mercy on people with your tongues"
The comment on that one is noteworthy:
Tumblr media
"Yes, whoever is not with the resistance is indeed a traitor, and those who must be held accountable are the traitors, agents, hypocrites, liars, and racists who slander the resistance and who want to hold it accountable only because it fights the enemy of humanity and defends truth and the oppressed. If you want to apply the law, apply it to yourselves first."
It highlights how much of what we hear in the West is Hamas propaganda. That's a whole other post too. But Hamas claims to be "the resistance," to "defend truth and the oppressed," while arresting people who refuse to preach its propaganda. While jailing and torturing someone 20 times for organizing a protest.
Which are the exact tactics that make it so easy for their propaganda to reach us . And so hard for us to even know that there has been an entire protest movement against Hamas in Gaza, much less to support its activists.
Tumblr media
I'll just cut and paste the translations from his most recent thread, above. All emphasis is mine:
"When demonstrations took place in Israel demanding that Netanyahu stop the war and free the hostages, Al Jazeera and Hamas considered it a victory and an achievement, and that the Israeli government was under pressure. But what is striking is that these demonstrations were not suppressed. They were secured. The hostage issue and public pressure were dealt with professionally.
"The demonstrations that took place in Gaza demanding an end to the war and the return of the displaced...they were classified as suspicious [by Al Jazeera etc] ...even though the displaced Israeli lives in a 5-star hotel and has the privileges of the displaced, and when the Palestinian displaced in Gaza receives help, he needs a mediator, and if he wants a tent, he needs leadership intervention, and if he does not have the mediator And the intervention wants to scratch his pocket..+++
"Why did Israel allow demonstrations and look pressured, always trying to contain everything... while we have a displaced person lost, homeless, and no one is trying to contain him, and when he talks, they call him a fifth column???"
Last month, he posted about pregnancy in wartime. Note the cost of the tent later in this thread! Numerous Palestinians have posted about humanitarian aid getting stolen -- by Hamas, by NGOs, by others -- and sold on the black market. Food and tents especially get mentioned a lot. Everyone mentions the tents are being sold for more than (the equivalent of) $700, even though they were supposed to be free.

I'll leave you with this one for now:

Is the Hamas torture video post true? I can't find anything other than an ADL post
I haven’t and I refuse to post or link to any of the videos, so I’m not really sure which “torture video post” you’re talking about, unless you mean this post or maybe this one
At any rate, I have unfortunately seen at least two such videos (mostly because of how Twitter no longer labels graphic content/violence), and it was before I was fully aware of what was actually happening in Gaza. The first video showed young women being dragged and paraded through the streets by Hamas. Some of the women were dead, and the ones who were alive had very clearly been raped and their clothes were all bloody between the legs. The other video I watched showed a family that was taken hostage, and then abruptly they murdered an 18yr old girl in front of her parents and her little sister. I “saw” other videos, but LOL, I’m ex military, but I’ve been shot at, at close range several times before (not while I was in the military), so I tend to be a bit squeamish around real/realistic depictions of death — so I let the video and audio play, but I looked away and had a friend more or less describe what was happening to me, only looking at the screen myself periodically.
Look, I wholeheartedly believe that decolonization always has and always will require violence. Things are absolutely no different with Palestine freeing themselves from Israeli oppression. I get that, okay?
Tumblr media
SN: now feels like a particularly good time for this warning: be wary of anyone suddenly stressing “peaceful nonviolent resistance”.
Tumblr media
I’m sorry, but rape, torture and intentionally murdering children and disabled people is kinda a bright red line for me. It’s an indelible line that I cannot cross. And I won’t defend it, I won’t excuse it, I won’t ignore it, and I won’t pretend that war crimes like rape are just the cost of doing business.
Let’s do a thought experiment: pick whatever’s most important to you, something (you think) you’re willing to die for - maybe it’s LGBTQ rights, or Black liberation, Climate Change, or whatever. You get the idea. If someone said to you, “Hey, we may be forced to kill some people to achieve our goals and gain our freedom,” maybe you’d be down with that. But if they said that rape would be required, would you still be cool with that? If they told you that killing children and the elderly was a part of the plan, could they still count on your unwavering support?
And to be super clear here: please let’s not pretend that the IDF hasn’t done some of the exact same things to Palestinian civilians that Hamas has done to Israeli civilians. Israel is currently bombing the fuck out of Palestinian hospitals, UN schools in Gaza, and turning off water on children, the sick + disabled, and the elderly. You would have to be the biggest most gullible fool on earth to believe that all of the apartment buildings that the IDF has leveled to the ground in Gaza, had zero innocent people inside them.
So I guess in the end, all I’m saying is, regardless of which side you choose to support, we must always always draw the line at war crimes.
And a friendly reminder: Hamas ≠ Palestine
Another friendly reminder: you can be pro-Palestinian without being antisemitic.
One more friendly reminder: Hamas would not be nearly as strong as it is today if Benjamin Netanyahu hadn’t repeatedly propped them up over the years, to keep the Palestinian people from becoming united.
And one final warning for anyone reading this: Elon Musk has all but eliminated the part of Twitter that used to block misinformation from being posted. Therefore you’re going to see A LOT of rightwing, anti-Palestinian + anti-Ukrainian propaganda. Please don’t fall for it. Check and double check the sources.
And as always, TERFs dni

@questioningqueerfangirl hey, so because you disabled comments this is the only way i have of answering you
1. It's very telling to me that you consider any type of support for palestinians trapped in Gaza as support for Hamas. Hamas is a group with an estimated 20.000 members, there are approximately 2 MILLION palestinians in Gaza. When I say "Free Palestine" I am not saying "I'm pro Hamas". Those are two different things. I wouldn't equate jewish people with zionists, and I also wouldn't equate palestinians with Hamas supporters/members. That's silly and simply false.
2. We cannot put Hamas and the IDF at the same level. One has much more power and international support than the other. The IDF has more than 500 thousand members in total and receives billions of dollars yearly from countries like the US and the UK, not to mention private companies who also support them. They even have NUCLEAR weapons. The amount of damage they are able to cause if they choose to do so is unimaginable. For example, they bathed palestinians and lebanese white phosphorus
3. You say "Hamas started this war". Hamas was formed in 1987 by Sheikh Yassin. The United Kingdom, being the colonialists that they are, promised to build a jewish homeland in Palestine during WWI, in 1917. While this may at first sound relatively harmless and like a way to protect jewish people (which is good), that's not what it was. British troops invaded and took the land. They killed and harmed countless people. I ask you: What right did the UK have to sign off someone else's land? What kind of holy homeland can be built on other people's graves? Palestinians were never asked or consulted what THEY wanted their home to be, what independence they would like to exercise after the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
More than 250 thousand palestinians were displaced so that the Israeli state could be formed, but you say Hamas started the war.
Since the formal establishment of Israel on 1948, it has forced palestinians to suffer under an apartheid state. Here's another video.
If that wasn't enough, Israel bombed and killed more than 200 palestinians on june of 2023, way before the October 7 attack.
4. "The ONLY people justifying murder as a form of resistance is the FREE PALESTINE MOVEMENT. I really don’t see Israel doing it.". Then you must not have watched Israel's defense on the ICJ. Here's a link.
If that wasn't enough, here's some screenshots from Israel's official twitter account and Netanyahu's:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Lastly, Israel has not only bombed palestinians, but also Lebanon. Where's the logic in that? Why would they kill innocents not only in Gaza, but also in other countries?
I don't say any of this to make you angry, or because I'm "hateful". I want to tell you all of this because a genocide is happening right now, and we can't ignore it. If you watch the videos that both journalists and palestinians in Gaza are uploading, then you'll see all they ask for is for us not to forget them. To help, in whatever way we can, so that they can finally be free and have a life without bombs, starvation, dehydration, drones, snipers, no hospitals, no schools, constant displacement, etc.
I saw a video of a kid putting his mother's remains on a backpack, because they couldn't even afford to have a funeral with the ongoing bombings and displacement. It has to stop. That's what I mean when I say Free Palestine.

i saw a post of yours recently where you were talking about how ao3 was made by a community of fans, and how tumblr fandom is much more splintered. you seemed to consider that a bad thing, do you think it's inherent to tumblr, or the modern internet, or is it possible to go back to a more LJ-era way of doing things? would that be even worth it- was the change that significant? if so- how would it have to be done? sorry to barge in with just a veritable barrage of questions, but (1/2)
--
(2/2) I wasn't old enough at the time to be on the internet, and fandom (and, by extension, internet) culture of that time interests and intimidates me in equal measures.
I think it's inherent to a larger modern fandom. Things were always splintered though. AO3 came out of one pocket of fandom, and other pockets of fandom didn't even know it was happening for years.
LJ is kind of like discord servers: it can operate like offline friend groups or like offline clubs. There's a significant social barrier to entry in the same way that regular social things have that. I don't mean people are gatekeeping: I mean that people won't feel like your friend until you put in some social effort. You cannot be that passive and still be a member of a community, though some people do more than others.
Not all of LJ felt like a real community just like not every discord server does, and plenty of posts were open to logged out randos, but there's the potential for more of a feeling of intimacy.
The big difference is seeing fandom as a smaller group vs. a mainstream hobby and using platforms with levels of privacy controls rather than screaming at each other in the public forum of twitter with celebrities and non-fandom randos gawking.
I don't think we ought to go fully back even if it were possible.
I do think we should resist the worst excesses of the modern internet, like shitty algorithms or feeling it's "mean" to not make your work maximally accessible to every ungrateful little turd out there. I archive-lock my works on AO3 because if you can't be bothered to make an account, you're an outsider, and you don't deserve to see the good shit. People can either commit to group membership in the most minor of ways by making an AO3 account, or they can fuck off.

And for the love of God, will people shut up about Thomas saying that he destroyed the redemption ark, here’s what people from the show had to say in regards to Chloe.
According to Thomas Astruc on Twitter, Chloé was intially never planned to have a redemption arc and this was purely assumed by fans based on the reveal that she would use the Bee Miraculous. He added that she remains unchanged as her 'purpose of the show is to warn about the people who willingly refuse [to change]'.
Despite the improvements she displayed before the events of "Miracle Queen", Thomas states her character was being presented exactly as she was written; someone who refuses to change and can often pull others into a toxic relationship by having them focus on her potential good and overall suffering, rather than the ongoing cruelty she continued to display towards others.
Although her past explains her act like her mother leaving her as a child, it doesn't excuse the choices she made, and despite the initial changes she made about herself to make up for some of her mistakes, Chloé never saw the need to fully change herself if she continued to obtain what she wanted.
Despite the many chances others were willing to give her to change her ways, Chloé felt such change was not worth the effort if it came at the cost of her privileges.
According to Feri González, colorist for ZAG inc and the ambassador for the show in Latin America, Chloé had never changed at all during the later parts of Season 2, and the entirety of Season 3. She only wanted to be Queen Bee, not only to help others, but to get recognition, her motivations to be a hero stemmed primarily from her own selfish reasons. The series had always presented Chloé's fate and unchanged personality, the viewers simply needed to observe her character for what it was rather than what they had envisioned it to be.
Despite the few moments of good Chloé has throughout the series, Chloé will revert back to her original personality either near the end of the episode or the following to show that she is still the same person. Despite what she experiences or expresses, those moments never made her want to change who she was and are quickly left in the past the moment she knows things are once again within her favor.
Feri states Chloé's downfall was marked in "Queen Wasp; the moment she used the Bee Miraculous to endanger hundreds of lives on the train simply to make herself look good.
Feri states a miraculous is a privilege, it is not someone's right to use. Despite Ladybugs explanation, Chloé refused to understand that the power of the miraculous was not her right to use and had determined it was a privilege Ladybug had wrongfully taken from her.
Although Chloé was quick to resist Hawkmoths control in "Miraculer", her willingness to resist did not stem from her need to be good, but rather from her belief that Ladybug would still provide her the power of the bee miraculous, a power she now felt she was entitled to.
YES !! A HUNDRED TIME YES !!!
THANK YOU DEAR FELLOW INTELLIGENT ML !!
How come the numerous ML fans cannot just accept Chloé as an antagonist who was given the chance to change and become a hero, and who was made to refuse and remain an antagonist for narrative purposes in the end ? Just because Chloé didn't chose the road for redemption doesn't mean it ruined her character.
Chloé may have want to become an heroin at some point, but once she realized that she would not get everything that she selfishly wanted by following this path, she reverted back to her wicked and evil antics.
"I go soft when I became Queen Bee", Chloé said to Zoé in Sole Crusher when she admitted that she had perfect pain relief in Marinette and hasn't taken advantage of it for a long time and so decided to mock Marinette and insult her in order to "teach" Zoé how to take advantage of a sufferer. This showed that for Chloe, making others suffer for her own pleasure remained more important to her than becoming better and acting heroically even if it meant no longer having the bee miraculous. At least the rest of her classmates did their best to act heroically without the help of their miraculous, where Chloe only complained about no longer having the privilege of a magical jewel.
Remember ML fans : "Despite the many chances others were willing to give her to change her ways, Chloé felt such change was not worth the effort if it came at the cost of her privileges."
I also think that Chloé's character was made to perfeclty illustrate what Marinette said to Adrien in Revelation "sometimes the good we see in others is just a reflection of our own, and we ends up being fooled by our own kindness"
Adrien and Marinette both thought there was good in Chloé, and there may have been something good that Ladybug and Chat Noir tried to bring out by giving Chloé a miraculous. But was that little spark of goodness in Chloé really significant or just an illusion since the only thing she needed she to revert back to her antagonism was to no longer have access to the bee miraculous ? While both Marinette and Adrien don't need to have a miraculous to act heroically and be good people ? In the end only Ladybug and Chat Noir's kindness stood up when they tried to help Chloé becoming a better person, but Chloé didn't live up to the faith they put in her

I’m Not Gay But... (Harringrove)
I saw a clip from something where this guy is all I’m not gay but if I were and then he went on to talk about sucking this other man’s dick if he were and stuff and just Steve and Billy. (I saw the clip on twitter and closed the app before I could even think of snagging a link to it. I think it was from some reality show but no idea which one since I don’t typically watch those. This has been in my drafts for ages and probably won’t get more.
Noncon/Dubious consent blowjob
Billy is Steve's very gay and out roommate and Steve loves him, that is his bro, his best friend and he is constantly going “If I were gay I would…” just a list of mostly sex stuff he would be up for with Billy.
Billy has been more than in lust with Steve for years even before they became friends and it is so frustrating, makes him hard and horny when Steve talks about it. He is positive Steve is not as straight as he thinks he is, he cannot be and talk this much about sucking Billy’s dick. He clearly wants it so bad and is in some heavy denial.
At first Billy thought it was kind of cute and funny, figured Steve would get a clue eventually but it’s been three years of this weird frustrating denial. He’s got more and more pent up frustration mounting from Steve crawling into bed to cuddle with him. Joining him in the shower to save water, for the planet he always says. Billy is going mad and he finally snaps.
Steve comes walking into his bedroom while Billy is toweling off after a for once private shower. Only achieved because Steve had not been here when he got in and the door was locked when he got home, Billy unwilling to leave the hot steam to let him in and running his private moment. It’s rare he gets to beat off in the shower.  Steve’s eyes are on Billy’s dick, a hungry stare, he doesn’t even drag his eyes up to Billy’s face as he says “Man if I were gay I’d be on my knees in a second.”
Billy’s hands curl tightly in the towel seconds before he tosses it away from him, curls still more wet than dry.“How do you know you aren’t? Get on your knees and find out.” Billy gets a command in his tone as he marches over to Steve, dick bobbing up and slapping against his stomach. Steve is staring wide eyed, mouth hanging open as Billy’s hand finds his shoulder and pushes him down to his knees, the sound hard as they connect with the concrete floor. He looks good like this, even if there is a protest on his lips, Billy cuts it off before he can breath life to it, cock pressing into that mouth he’s been dreaming of. Steve chokes around his dick startled, teary wide eyes staring up at Billy as he tries to push him away. Billy shakes his head and  fists a hand in soft brown locks eases back out just a bit only to slide back in, balls slapping light against Steve’s chin as he fucks his shocked mouth.
“You talk about my dick so much, I figure it’s time you finally taste it.” Billy grits out, mesmerized by the flushing of Steve’s cheeks. Steve smacks at his thighs and Billy is going to stop. Really he is, he’s not really trying to force Steve if he doesn’t want it but he can’t resist a few more thrusts. Billy keeps telling himself he’s going to pull out but every time he almost does he thrusts back in, hips snapping balls slapping as his pace picks up. Steve huffs around his dick a little more pliant now and Billy keeps reasoning with himself. If Steve really didn’t want this he could get out of it, plenty of vulnerable spots he could take advantage of. Despite this though he knows he is going to feel so fucking guilty for this later.
By the time the guilt finally builds up, Billy's mental mantra shifts to ‘shit, shit, I have to stop! I've taken this too far!’ Steve has relaxed even more and starts actually sucking the dick in his mouth not just taking the face fucking. Steve’s hands are no longer slapping or trying to push away just holding Billy’s thighs. Billy eases his hand out of Steve’s hair, still his hips and marvels as Steve starts bobbing his head, a little tentative at first but quickly growing in confidence as he finds his rhythm. “Oh fuck pretty boy! I knew you’d like it.” Billy says gasping as Steve hums around him, hollows his cheeks and sucks even harder making Billy shake and shudder.
Originally I planned a whole sex scene when i wrote this down but I was in my head and didn’t think people would enjoy it so I just let it die in the wip grave yard but I don’t think I ended it at a terrible place so good enough to share.

New Rule: A Woke Revolution | Real Time with Bill Maher
And finally. New Rule: If you're part of today's Woke Revolution, you need to study the part of revolutions where they spin out of control because the revolutionaries get so drunk on their own purifying elixir, they imagine they can reinvent the very nature of human beings.
Communists thought selfishness - selfishness - could be cast out of human nature. Russian revolutionaries spoke of the New Soviet Man who wasn't motivated by self-interest, but instead wanted to be part of a collective. No, turns out he wanted to be on a yacht in a Gucci tracksuit holding a vodka and a prostitute. Not standing in line all day for a potato.
The problem with Communism, and with some very recent ideologies here at home, is that they think you can change reality by screaming at it. That you can bend human nature by holding your breath. But that's the difference between reality and your mommy.
Lincoln once said that you can "repeal all past history, but you still cannot repeal human nature." But he's canceled now, so fuck him.
Yesterday I asked ChatGPT, are there any similarities between today's Woke Revolution and Chairman Mao's cultural revolution of the 1960s, and it wrote back, how long do you have?
Because again, in China, we saw how a revolutionary thought he could do a page one rewrite of humans. Mao ordered his citizens to throw off "the four olds": old thinking, old culture, old customs, and old habits. So um, your whole life went in the garbage overnight, no biggie.
Tumblr media
And those who resisted were attacked by an army of purifiers called the "Red Guard" who went around the country putting dunce caps on people - yeah - who didn't take to being a new kind of mortal being. A lot of pointing and shaming went on. Oh, and about a million dead. And the only way to survive was to plead insanity for the crime of being insufficiently radical, then apologize and thank the state for the chance to see what a piece of shit you are. And of course, submit to re-education. Or, as we call it here in America, freshman orientation.
Tumblr media
Listen to this story. There's a law professor at the University of Illinois Chicago named Jason Kilbourne whose crime was that on one of his exams, he used a hypothetical case where a black female worker sued her employer for race and gender discrimination, alleging that managers had called her two slur words. The type of real world case these students might one day confront, and knowing the extreme sensitivity of today's students, he didn't write the two taboo words on the test, just the first letter of each. He was teaching his students how to fight racism in the place where it matters most, the criminal justice system.
But because he merely alluded to those words - again in the service of a good cause - he was banned from campus, placed on indefinite leave, and made to wear the dunce cap. No, not really the dunce cap part. But our American version of that: eight weeks of sensitivity training. Weekly 90-minute sessions with a diversity trainer, and having to write five "self-reflection" papers. A grown ass man. A liberal law professor.
If you can't see the similarities between that and this, the person who needs re-education is you.
Tumblr media
Yes, we do have our own Red Guard here but they do their rampaging on Twitter.
Here's a cute example from a couple of years ago. The banjo player from Mumford and Sons tweeted that he liked a book. A book that apparently had not been approved by the revolution. So of course, he had to delete the Tweet then take time away from the band - oh my God you mean this could have affected Mumford and Sons - and then the cringing apology: "I have come to better understand the pain caused by the book I endorsed." Pain? From a book? Unless he hit the drummer over the head with it? What happened to “I can read whatever the fuck I want”? Don't worry, I'm a musician, it won't happen again.
There was once a very different musician named John Lennon who wrote a song called "Revolution," and people who didn't really listen to it thought it was a rah-rah call for revolution. No, it was the opposite. The lyrics are:
“You say you want a revolution. Well, you know, we all want to change the world. But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao You ain't gonna make it with anybody anyhow."
There's a guy who understood how good intentions can turn into the insane arrogance of thinking your Revolution is so awesome, and your generation is so mind-bendingly improved that you have bequeathed the world with a new kind of human. You're welcome.
With Communists, that human was no longer selfish. In America today, that human is no longer born male or female. And obesity is not something that affects health. You can be healthy at any size. Really, we voted on it.
A formerly serious magazine last year published with a straight face, an article called "Separating Sports by Sex Doesn't Make Sense." Yes it does. Because again, we haven't reinvented homo sapiens since Crystal Pepsi came out.
Tumblr media
I've spent three decades on TV mocking Republicans who said climate change was just a theory, and now I got to deal with people who say, you know what else is just a theory? Biology.
==
The mistake is thinking this isn’t by design.

Okay I usually don't dip into the discourse but this is just. So amazingly ridiculous that I can't resist sharing these two asks I saw (received and adroitly answered) in the tgcf tag.
Y'all ready for the dumbest take to hit TGCF since "Hualian is reverse grooming"? (Thank you for reminding me of that one, thegreymoon, that was a batshit week 🤣. At least that one has the excuse of being a twitter take. This one though is right here on tumblr dot com. Homegrown idiocy.)
Okay so the first anon ask...
Tumblr media
...so far so vaguely normal, yeah? I mean, I ship them too but there's definitely toxicity there, if it makes someone uncomfortable so be it.
But I promise you, whatever you think anon's comeback is, you are wrong. You cannot even imagine the follow up.
Wait for it.
Wait for iiiit.
You ready?
Tumblr media
YUP YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST, THE 2,000 YEAR OLD GHOST/GOD STALKER AND THE 800 YEAR OLD TRASH GOD ARE, YUP, RELATED NOW.
I'm sorry. I just. I read this almost an hour ago and I'm still seesawing between 🤣🤣🤣 and 😵‍💫😮‍💨😒.
I can't decide if it's "tell me you haven't read the book without telling me you haven't read the book" or if it's "anti discourse has descended to the point that incest has become an entirely meaningless concept, forget 'they're not related in anyway but they THINK of each other as family so it's (somehow) incest,' no we've now hit 'it's yucky so it must be incest.'"
Also I'm sorry I screencapped and posted your asks without asking permission first, edensrose, I just can't stop smh over it and I thought others would get a laugh without me putting your actual posts on blast.

Altered - Epilogue 2
Author: Akira
Characters: Eichi, Tsumugi, Hiyori, Nagisa
Translator: Mika Enstars
"…I understand his feelings, though. …Faced with an unreasonable reality, he instead sought salvation and healing in the form of fantasy."
Season: Winter
Location: OO Stage (fine-O)
⚠️ This is an import from a unproofed Twitter Livetweet!
Tumblr media
Eichi: Hey guys, I kept you waiting.
I rushed on over with my sword in hand, now that I’m finally back in good condition.
Hiyori: You’ve always been arriving late for some time now. Who do you think you are, some executive?
Tsumugi: Now, now now… I don’t think it’s a good idea to immediately start fighting. You two have always been like this…
Although it’s rather nostalgic, isn’t it? Back during the war too, all you two would do was argue whenever you saw each other.
Nagisa: …Mhm. Somehow, it makes me feel warm.
…So this is what a reunion is like? It’s surprisingly quite pleasant.
…But, if possible, I’d like such a rare opportunity as this to end with a smile.
…So don’t fight too much, okay?
Tsumugi: That’s right~. Take the Five Eccentrics for example, they look like they’re having lots of fun, getting along together!
Eichi: I know that. Unlike you and Keito, my eyesight isn’t impaired in any way. I can see them in front of me just fine.
I’m really glad they appear to be content.
Hiyori: Still, this is rather grand, isn’t it? This huge venue each has a stage dedicated to us and the Five Eccentrics.
Tsumugi: It sure looks expensive~. It looks like the OO management was pretty enthusiastic.
Hiyori: Well, I’m sure everyone here understands by now that all of this unfolded as part of a plan.
Otherwise, it’d be impossible for such a stage to be prepared. It’s far too big to be done as a rush job.
Nagisa: …Yeah. The showdown between us fine and the Five Eccentrics was surely planned from the beginning.
…Or rather, this falls in line with a script written by someone else.
Hiyori: Who is that? Eichi-kun, as usual?
Eichi: Fufu, you could say I was, or you could say I was not.
Tumblr media
Hiyori: And there you go! Speaking around in riddles, as always!
Tsumugi: Now now… Eichi-kun certainly speaks pretentiously, but he is conscientious. I’m sure he’ll properly explain everything.
What you need is patience, not understanding. Let’s be patient and listen properly.
Eichi-kun likely was waiting for this moment to come to tell the truth.
Hiyori: Yeah, yeah, Papa.
Tumblr media
Eichi: Mhm. Fufu, that’s right. Let us get rid of the elements that slow us down, so we sing and dance with all our strength.
You can’t focus on the performance if left with questions.
This all began two years ago.
Immediately following the war when I had reached my limit and collapsed, Wataru came to my hospital room.
There, he had handed me a proposal of Sakasaki-kun’s to read, one that should have been burnt to ashes—He had recreated the script from memory.
Tumblr media
Hiyori: A script?
Eichi: One where the Five Eccentrics, as a unit, defeats fine—and the student council. An exhilarating revenge story.
Hiyori: What the. Is that what that kid had been fantasizing about back then? That’s surprisingly dark of him.
Tumblr media
Nagisa: …I understand his feelings, though.
…Faced with an unreasonable reality, he instead sought salvation and healing in the form of fantasy.
…It is one of mankind’s forms of self-defense, in order to protect one’s own mind.
…But of course, it only holds merit as a fantasy, it has none in execution.
…In reality, there was no longer any deadlock.
…Although, while I cannot say with certainty that there was no chance for such a huge comeback…
…Doing so would have required a great deal of hardships, resistance, and bloodshed.
Tumblr media
Eichi: Yes. Wataru had come to that judgment upon receiving the script, and it was turned down, and later incinerated.
Nagisa: …That was wise. He is able to still be surprisingly realistic, despite it being a sad story.
Eichi: Yes, it’s for that reason you get along with him.
But you know, even someone like Wataru still felt guilty over it.
And so, he recreated that script. And from then on, he improved the content and laid down groundwork for the day of its eventual performance.
That script was partially utilized for Trickstar’s brilliant revolutionary drama, but it was essentially preserved.
Until now.
Now that everyone considered the days of Yumenosaki’s war is considered of the distant past, alongside how the focus has been shifted from Yumenosaki to ES.
This way, it can be enjoyed as a lively festival without unnecessary things being dragged onto what is supposed to be a fun performance.
The wounds were still too deep during and after the war, and the stage would be too heavy for Yumenosaki.
It works out because it’s here, and now.

Can I ask ... Do you personally see the kind of corruption etc mentioned on that post you reblogged? The "clear 360 circles" one? I'm just curious what your experience is, if you're willing to share
Thank you for sending this! I appreciate you asking the question, and if anything in my reply comes off as accusatory or confrontational, please know that it isn't directed towards you - there's just A Lot To Yell About on the topic of USian criminal "justice."
The post. (tl;dr: a series of tweets by a defense attorney detailing a case he had where the police officer was blatantly and directly dishonest)
The thing about "police corruption," and all the myriad ways cops have of gaming the system against poor people and/or non-white people is that it seldom needs to be as dramatic and egregious as Greg Doucette's example. The system gives cops all the advantages they need WITHOUT their having to break a single rule. Cops don't need to be "corrupt" to be oppressive. Cops don't even need to be "bad apples" to be oppressive. It is the system itself that enables it all in the first place.
(more under the cut)
Of course, the egregious bad actors DO exist! My next-door coworker once stormed out of her office and asked for a second opinion on some bodyworn camera, as she was too angry to continue looking. A store owner called 911 on a homeless Black man who was sitting on the curb outside their store at night. The police had previously gotten a report of a potential shooter that night who vaguely matched client's description (e.g. - "Black male adult in dark clothes," or BMA in police report speak) so they sent several SUVs full of officers. The officers arrived, verified that client was not the shooter, then grabbed client's arms and legs as he was standing up and shoved him down against the concrete. He was not struggling - multiple different camera angles confirmed it, because an officer was kneeling on his head. The only crime he could POSSIBLY have been guilty of on that night was misdemeanor trespass. This did not stop the officers from TASING him three separate times, on the wrong setting (i.e., a much higher voltage that their own training manual mandates should not be used on suspects).
The eventual charge? Felony resisting arrest - the client "stiffened his arms and legs" as he was getting put into handcuffs. While being Tased.
So yes! I have witnessed and personally seen the kind of dishonesty and "corruption" the twitter thread describes. However, the MORE frustrating and oppressive kind of corruption that I see is the kind that happens without any dishonesty or rule-breaking at all.
A client of our office was once stopped by the police because he used his turn signal too far in advance of an intersection - a violation of the local vehicle code. By the police officers' own report, there was no other bad driving. The officers saw that he was smoking, that he was "mumbling" in his reply, and that he was "unsure whether he was on probation." Officers took all of these as signs of "nervousness" and "suspicious behavior" and asked him to step out so they could search his car. Client complied, because he was terrified the officers would shoot him. An unsecured firearm was found under the passenger seat, and the client was taken to jail. His exposure was several years state prison.
Now here's the important part. If this particular client should choose to try and fight this case in court, a prosecutor will argue - possibly successfully! - that everything that happened to my client was legal.
Does it matter that an early turn signal is a traffic infraction that legally cannot carry jail time? Does it matter that my client is barely old enough to be in adult court, and he's alone on the side of the road with two armed officers? That he isn't white? That a law recently passed in our state legislature that drastically reduced the length of probation for most offenses? That police officers themselves routinely mistake whether our clients are on probation or not? That client’s father and brother were recently murdered as a result of gang violence, that client thinks the shooters may be out to kill him next, and the police have not stopped a single incident of gun-related violence that has occurred in our community in the past several years? That this client will lose quite literally everything if the state chooses to kidnap him from his life, his housing, his job, his loved ones, for months on end? That I know for a FACT most of the attorneys and judges who drive in front of the sheriffs’ station next to the courthouse never use a turn signal at all? Well, Mr. Client, that's up to a judge! Who is most likely an ex-prosecutor or an ex-cop himself!
That is the most common story I see - police officers deliberately using the power they are lawfully given in our system to hurt poor and non-white communities. "Vehicle code infraction stop for expired tags/broken tail light leads to vehicle search leads to contraband drugs" version number five billion this month! "Failed to check in with probation, arrest warrant without possibility of bail" EVERY SINGLE DAY. Does it matter that there was no bad driving? That the DMVs in our area are overburdened and frequently closed due to covid? That the expensive white BMW that parks in the corner space has had expired tags for months but has not once been stopped? That the probation officers won't answer their phones and the probation offices have been opening/closing without warning this entire pandemic? That my clients are homeless and struggle to maintain even a consistent cell phone number when they're desperately trying to keep their lives together? That jail and prison will do ABSOLUTELY FUCK-ALL for anybody?
No. It does not matter. The things being done to our communities by the police are, a VAST majority of the time, sanctioned by the law and by the various actors in the system that uphold that law. To use the term "corruption" or even "bad apples" is a disservice to the work that needs to be done, to the fight that needs to happen. A police officer can be Clean McHonest and have every single action upheld by the law and STILL do the same damage. The system is not broken, it is operating as intended.
Which is NOT to say that I will spit on all criminal "reform" movements until the revolution comes! If a "reform" wave gains momentum or a bill gets passed that can improve SOME clients' circumstances even a little bit, I will grab onto that chance with both hands - it’s my job. I will RUN the goddamn suppression motion on Officer Friendly's shitty pretextual vehicle stop and roast the hell out of his ass on the stand, because that's my job. As much as I may fervently believe that cleansing white fire is the only way to "fix" things, I've got clients who are in cages right now. And honestly, the Venn diagram between criminal defense attorneys and prison/police abolitionists is MUCH smaller than most people think. WE KNOW what the "really bad ones" look like, because we're the ones reading the fucking discovery. We know exactly what was done to that vulnerable minor, exactly how many times the abused spouse was beaten, exactly how many skin-crawling images were sold out of that hard drive and EXACTLY how hard it will be for any of the witnesses to live normal lives again - the DA sends US the victim impact statement before it gets read in court! We KNOW!
But the gap between "I think mechanisms should exist to separate bad actors from their communities for the safety of everyone else", OR EVEN the vastly more reductive "I think bad guys should be punished," and the hell our current criminal "justice" system enacts? That gap is as wide as the Grand Canyon. What happened to George Floyd happens every day, in every jurisdiction - the public eye just doesn't happen to be pointed their way.
So...yes, I have seen the kind of "corruption" Greg Doucette describes in his post. And it is horrible. But the everyday legal oppression enacted by the system is in many ways far, far worse.
