i always misinterpreted the season 1 scene between nancy and flo at the police station. when nancy says, “he’s not my boyfriend,” and flo replies, “i think you better tell him that,” i used to think, ew, has jonathan been going around thinking that just because they spent one day together they’re dating now? but i think that’s not what flo was saying. right afterwards she tells nancy, “only love makes you that crazy, sweetheart, and that damn stupid.” and i realized that’s why jonathan and nancy work so well together. jonathan never expected nancy to return any of his affections; he was content just to harbor them to himself and have this crazy adventure together. jonathan loves nancy, and has always loved nancy, and that was enough for him.

So I know I’ve made a bunch of points already but this one just occurred to me. At the end of season 1 (mentioned by Nancy is season 2) after the teens fight the Demogorgan, Nancy says she waits for Jonathan, and when he doesn’t give any indication she should be, Steve is there and they reconcile and get back together.

Now something about that I didn’t notice back when I first saw season 2 and am really putting together now— Jonathan is annoyed that Nancy didn’t wait for him when he needed time with his family after Will was saved. And it’s understandable that the Byers needed time after all that they went through in season 1, but Jonathan is annoyed with Nancy when she tells him she waited for him, “Yeah, like a month.” Meanwhile….. Nancy lost and is still mourning Barb! And Jonathan doesn’t acknowledge that at all when he complains about Nancy not waiting longer before getting back together with Steve.

But Steve was there for Nancy as much as he could be after they reconciled with Barb’s death. He obviously messed up by being unwilling to break the NDA they signed to tell the Hollands what happened to Barb and from Nancy’s perspective and place in mourning feels unsupported by him because of this but let’s rewind a little.

What we are left to infer between seasons 1 and 2 is:

Nancy AND Steve are having regular dinners with the Hollands

Although Steve is somewhat reluctant, he still goes and is a polite and pleasant dinner guest

Nancy and Steve seemed to have an overall good relationship until the anniversary of Barb’s death was creeping up

They were planning couples costumes, going to dinner with the Hollands, Steve spends Christmas at the Wheelers house, they drive to school together, Nancy has been helping Steve with his admissions essay, they’ve been talking about their future, etc.

And when I was thinking about all that they’d done together after season 1, I considered how it might’ve gone if Jon was in Steve’s place.

Would he have gone to regular dinners with the Hollands? Would he have wanted to expose the Lab and everything with the Upside Down if Will hadn’t gotten pulled back in?

Just how annoyed he was when he said she only waited a month for him— while he was reconciling with his lost brother…. And Nancy and the Hollands were still mourning Barb who had died?

I’m not faulting Jonathan for needing time with his family after everything that happened, of course he did.

And I’m not saying Steve was #1 Boyfriend of the year just because he went to dinner at the Hollands' with Nancy

But I am saying that Jon gave next to no thought about how badly Nancy was doing after they fought the Demogorgan in season 1. And while she was mourning and needed someone by her side to face the Hollands and lie to them while mourning with them, Steve was there while Jon wasn’t and I think Jon probably wouldn’t have been if Nance had waited longer for him.

It’s a theme you see throughout this show, a little bit before but especially after Nancy finally blows up and gives Steve the “thump on his head” that he later thanks her for— Steve is there, Jon isn’t.

I was re-watching 13 going on 30 and I need to know if someone already made an AU with Jancy because is literally their characters with no Upside Down. If you have the information, don't keep it to yourself, please shareeee 😩

Rating Stranger Things ships cause I’m bored:

- Byler 10/10, literally my favorite st ship 😩😩😩

- M*leven 2.5/10 they have their moments, but their relationship is unhealthy.

- Lumax 8.5/10 literally love them 😩😩 I never rlly shipped them that much, but then season 4 came along and THEY WERE AMAZINGGG

- Elmax 7/10 they are soooooo cuteeee!!!!! I’ve watched compilations of their season three moments so many times!

- Jancy 8.5/10 literally perfect for each other

- R*nance 6/10 I don’t ship them THAT much in the show, but I like their fan content!

- S*eddie 3/10 I can’t find many reasons to ship them, but their fans sure are dedicated.

Opinion on ronance and how it is superior to stancy and even jancy lol

ronance is one of my favorite stranger things ships. top 3.

it's definitely superior to stancy, i'm gonna try and keep the stancy bashing to a minimum but we'll see. i don't have anything against jancy, i even enjoy it to some extent, but i really think nancy wheeler needs to date a woman. robin is perfect for her, she doesn't demine her in any way, she has an inquisitive personality just like nancy, they're great investigative partners. robin also understands the struggle of being a woman, and nancy really seems to be benefitting from her relationship with her. nancy also doesn't make robin feel bad about being different from the rest of the people robin knows. even if ronance doesn't become romantically canon ( :( ) they will still drastically help the other. comparing to stancy and jancy, being with robin works with how nancy wants to live her life. steve wants a giant family, which nancy has repeatedly shown that that's what she's trying to get away from, and with jonathan, he's in the middle of the two. he can be good for the life nancy wants, but she also may be hindering how he wants to live his. not to say that nancy isn't good for jonathan or vice versa, but jon wants to go to school in new york, he doesn't want to go to the same college that nancy does, they have different goals in life. if they were to communicate properly, it could work, but they're both withholding from the other. jon doesn't feel like he can tell nancy about college because he doesn't want her to give up her dream to be with him, which is a nice thought, but impractical in a relationship. again, i do like jancy, i just think ronance is better, plus they're sapphic which makes it better anyways.

can i be an interviewer for the ST cast? no like really, please? i have so many questions i swear- so many new and ripe questions that have yet to be plucked from the fruitifull question tree like i swear i wont ask the same low-hanging fruit, already rotting and boring questions that have been asked 12987398473 different times like i swear i have new ones i have so many new unasked pristine never before questions that are actually interesting and i promis i could engage the cast if you were to just give me a chance- *gunshots*

unpopular opinion: I love st3. ik that it’s pretty messy and the writing may be…less than excellent, but I still really enjoy it! it’s just so FUN and it has some standout moments that I absolutely adore

As a Jancy shipper first and foremost, nothing has made me appreciate season 3 more than season 4. I think my issues with season 3 beyond some characters acting like caricatures of their previous selves is the lack of resolution to certain plot points. It's like they introduced interesting, character driven storylines that were ultimately halted for the main monster plot. The most egregious was Will's storyline but I was most upset about the handling of Jonathan and Nancy's conflict. I loved their fight and the hospital scene was epic and amazing the resolution was essentially non-existent.

But it was a fun season! And I'm seriously considering rewatching season 3 for the first time since July 2019.
