3. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you enjoy incorporating romance into the average story?

Unfortunately, I suffer from a very, very rare psychological condition known simply as "Ship-Brain". I see the slightest interaction between two characters, and my brain thinks of them doing cute things.

However, I remember a really good piece of advice for romance. The question is, "Why can't they be together now?" The best example I can think of for incorporating romance is the Night Angel "Shadows" trilogy between Kylar and Doll Girl.

4. What is the plot bunny you've been carrying for the longest? BONUS: Do you ever wonder why you haven't written it yet and experience existential dread?

Plot bunny? Uh, one sec...

Oh! You mean a story idea that never came out? Yeah, I have a couple of those. The one I've held the longest is probably the first and only legitimate story I thought of for a young adult fantasy novel. As for why I haven't written it, it's probably because I don't know the first thing about writing a real book, how it gets published, and a bunch of nihilistic rocks rattling in my skull. Still, whenever I get the urge to write it down, I write it onto a piece of scratch paper that I inevitably lose.

6. Do you have any kind of consistent writing schedule, or just hoping for the best?

It usually depends on my work. If I have free time, I'll try to work on a project bit by bit. If nothing else, I'll at least get the first paragraph done. The best time for me to do this is in my car, for an hour, on my phone, before work.

This past week was the worst because I had the bright idea to push myself in my muay thai class, resulting in me sleeping in late and having no time for my hour-long drafting. Going to bed at midnight doesn't help either.

7. Tell us about the plot of the first fan fic you ever wrote.

Ooh, now that takes me back...

I'll start with the first fan fic I ever published, which is "Lie Ren Goes To The Market" on FanFiction.Net. At the time, FF.net had a rule about how the first fic couldn't be above a "T-for-Teen" rating. So I chose a simple story about Ren going to Vale for a weekly chore. Most interesting experience from this was when an actual english professor corrected my grammar! Talk about a shock!

Now, as for the first fic I ever wrote, it was an anime chatroom. Yeah, it was that kind of cringe. My friend and I would write Naruto Chat Room stories and share them with each other. I would then watch Naruto Chat Room videos on YouTube like they were got dang soap operas! The plot didn't really exist; it was all more randomness than anything.

Hi there! I'm here to say that you are incredible in some many ways omg!

I had first played the genshin chatroom some time ago and it was so much fun! Every single one was so in character that I kept replaying it to get all the answers (my fav is definitely Alhaitham 🤭). I even shared the link with my friends and they loved as well!

Today, I downloaded the genshin otome game and I was blown away at how amazing it was! My heart fluttered so many times with the lines and the kissing parts? My god 😳😳 loved that you kept Itto's eng voice since I absolutely adore Max Mittelman 😆

I also played the P5 visual novel! I only did Akira/Ren's moon route (and got the bad ending 🥹) but I'll definitely play again tomorrow (I wanted to replay it right after, but it's really late lol) The power that this game had over me and how you wrote Joker 😩 I literally blushed so many times and my heart sped up NO JOKE (and cried at my ending 🥲).

I can't fully express how much I adored these games with words, so I'm adding this Gif 😆 I was just like that monkey while playing them.

ah yes the kissing audios, aka the highlight of the game <3 i get a little sad when people don't play with the audio, because honestly gathering and implementing them took me an indecent period of time sldfjlsdj i debated internally a lot for itto's voice, but considering his jp va doesn't participate in the whole drama cd industry i figured i'd just go with the voice i liked more for itto hahah i'm so happy that everyone liked that!!

hehe joker was super fun to write because we do kinda see a little of his personality peek through in the game? but they were all super subtle, so he's like this mostly blank canvas that i can just connect some dots with <3 in case you're having trouble getting the good end(s), remember that i have a walkthrough!! :D i hope i broke your heart with the bad ending /j

kami had heard stories that anesthesia can induce dreams of some kind, perhaps in the imaginative minds of little kids, or perhaps there's some strain that allows for people to dream, even if they don't remember it. so how are sleeping pills going to prevent that from happening too? kami could easily tell everyone that the medication did the trick. they'd all be happy he finally slept. it's what he wants too, so everyone wins.

but the truth is, kami isn't sure there's a drug in the world that could actually induce a dreamless sleep so profound. dreams tend to happen when one is unconscious, the mind tends to work in hilarious ways.

this time, it was everyone turning against him. kami can recall vividly the hateful expressions on their faces, the venom in their words as they told him in no uncertain circumstances is he allowed anywhere near the family. he can still hear ren's voice in his mind, telling him that he's only going to drag everyone down.

niwa had been the most hurtful. in kami's nightmare, niwa had started off nice, but the situation had somehow twisted to blaming kami for whatever devastation had befallen him. and of course, at niwa's feet was a very dead katelyn, that kami was also responsible for. somehow.

he'd jerked awake again when he'd been rushed with a sword. and right now, kami is shaken, terrified. cracking a joke in the chatroom hadn't done anything to lessen this new bout of terror. because kami still can't tell what's real and what isn't. pinching his arm hasn't worked anymore; that pain stopped being effective the first time he was locked up when katelyn was on the loose.

and it had felt like a prison, regardless of what anyone said. it had felt like katelyn was the jailer and his loved ones were the extra wardens. this feels very similar to that, except this time, kami is certain his own brain is working against him to keep him in some warped state where everything feels like a dream.

had he really lost his mind over this entire situation? or is he just that messed up, mentally? sitting up (an action that feels almost entirely too easy right now), kami takes stock of the living room. nothing seems out of place, nothing is changed around or shifted. it's exactly how an apartment sized living room should look. how his has always looked.

except...

everything feels out of place.

kami can't tell what's different. some shadows seem to run a little darker than others. maybe the couch is shifted an inch to the left. something feels wrong, he knows it. it's hard to pinpoint what that might be, and it's even harder to get the words out. he could turn to his journal, maybe he could jot more of this thoughts down.

but that had only been so effective the first time. kami can't even tell what his thoughts are. they're all a jumbled mess of love versus trust, hate versus love, and 'am-i-awake-or-dreaming that seems to be the main focus of his fucked up brain right now.

sure, he could be in some deep sleep or coma right now, dreaming about a potential happy life where he's reunited with family and making amends. but nothing had ever come so easily before. his entire life had been hard as hell, there's no reason that should change either.

so maybe none of this is a dream. maybe he really had changed his life around. maybe kami's life had finally improved. he really had gained friends and family and was in a much better place than he'd been years ago.

or maybe his mind still wishes he could hear all those things in reality. his life probably still is on the brink of self destruction, and in his last moments he's conjuring up what he wants to hear most from those he loves. it would be like that. kami had always been resentful and bitter and desperate and lonely. of course this current reality would be more of the same.

looking down at himself, kami decides his current clothes are fine. there's nothing stopping him from going on a short walk. chongyun and cyno won't notice, and he'll only be gone ten minutes. he just needs to clear his head before the walls completely close in on him.

slipping out the front door, kami stands there for a moment. this is the part where people usually wake up from a dream-within-a-dream. this is usually the part where the subconscious meets the conscious and the two collide back into each other, causing them to jolt back to their actual reality.

that's not happening now. kami could go jump in front of a car to spur that, he could go ask niwa for help, but he can already see the distressed expression on niwa's face at that question. and after that nightmare, kami isn't sure he wants to face anyone.

heading back inside, kami grabs his pipe instead. whatever. he'll probably wake up later, if he's not already awake now.

he can't tell anymore.

its a mental breakdown: you guys probably don't know but I was an orphan from a really really young age because my parents died when I was young and my other family members didn't want me. and at the beginning of this year, when I got into UA, I moved out of the orphanage, got an apartment close to campus and all, I'd had a job for two years prior.

its a mental breakdown: Kirishima's hair got set on fire at some point, Sero got tangled onto the railing of my balcony and was hanging from my fifth floor apartment's balcony railing, Mina choked on a piece of burnt tofu, Kaminari slipped in the bathroom and fell into the full bathtub where he then electrocuted himself, Bakugou got his face shoved into the cake and sat in the corner pouting while my cat Ume and dog Anzu tried to eat the cake off his face for the rest of the night, Jirou got lost inside my apartment building, and I hit my head on the counter and had a concussion for a week.

mother i crave violence: I like to think I've cultivated a well-functioning group of chaotic demons. At least if one of us is doing something dumb, usually the rest will either follow or do something dumb of their own.

Kylo Ren is such a conceptual mess I can’t even hate him since I can only engage with the character on an abstract doylist level.

From what was revealed in prequel novel released with the film it seems the writers really started out with making him coded as both a neonazi and a child molestation victim, but with invasive telepathy standing in for both being molested in a public area with no one noticing and internet chatrooms at the same time.

I mean, I guess the idea is both Neo-Nazis and molestors prey on children.

I think we are thus supposed to understand with the guilt of his parents feeling they let it happen.

Thing is, I don’t think its the best analogy, others could probably better elucidate why.

Then it went into “hot dark guy” pandering and already arguably poor taste equivocation got worse.

Reylo Chat Party Reminder - Today @ 4pm EST

Hey guys, I know I’ve been a bit of a ghost on tumblr lately and I haven’t been posting consistent reminders about this, but the weekly Reylo Chat Party is still ongoing! Some weeks it’s bustling, and others it’s just an intimate gathering depending on people’s schedules, but we would love to have you, even if it’s just to lurk. I also think there’s going to be a bit of a watch party/chat next weekend with the live streamed Star Wars Celebration event (fingers crossed that we get an Ep 8 trailer!), so if you can’t make this week, try to shoot for next. ;) Also, I’ve been asked the following several times, so I’d like to just post these answers here in case anyone else had questions: 1) What if I can’t make it at 4pm EST today? The discussion/conversation tends to last for hours, so if you can’t make it on the dot, no worries at all. A lot of people show up at random times because of work, commitments, etc. Come by whenever you can! 2) Is the chat room open at other times? Yes! It’s open 24/7 and the discussions on random weekdays is actually pretty lively at times. We have people in all different time zones, though it tends to be busier during the US daylight hours. 3) I don’t know any Reylos personally and I’m shy. Is this a good place to meet other Reylos? Yes, yes, and more yes! We actually have a “meet the Reylos” channel for people to introduce themselves (or they can just pop into any channel and start chiming in), and we have an awesome little spreadsheet that gives a little more info about Reylo members that they’d like to share - like timezone, author & artists pennames, hobbies, personality types, etc. Also, we love new Reylos, so please don’t be afraid this is going to be like a high school dance or something lol. We are all here for the same purpose! 4) What do you talk about? We have a lot of various topic channels/rooms within the chat, so there’s a room for spoilers, fic recs & fanworks (w/respective NSFW channels), meta discussions, Adam/Daisy swooning, etc. And of course off-topic and general chats. I haven't read many Furuba AUs honestly. So I have to say the Fruits Basket Chatroom as that is the most AU fic I've read really.

My favorite AU concept is an arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, angst, hurt/comfort epic.

I could see that being a Kyoru fic. Where kyo and Tohru are forced in a political arranged marriage. Tohru secretly resents Kyo because he was the one that commanded an army to the town where she lived and killed her mother, but hides her resentment. Kyo resents Tohru because of course he'd resent the person he is being forced to marry. They are polite to each other but cold to each other. Tohru makes friends in Kyo's family's kingdom, befriending Yuki and at one point wishing she was engaged to him instead of Kyo. Kagura still chases after Kyo and makes plots to get rid of Tohru but after Tohru saves her in a political accident she warms up to her. They even try to make a deal to try to get Tohru out of the marriage. As all of this is going on, kyo and Tohru are forced to get to know each other through various steps in the marriage process. As they go through these trials they slowly start to get to know their real selves. Tohru learns the truth that Kyo actually tried to stop the army from going out that day. Out of spite they gave him the credit but his initial opposition is why he was selected to be the sacraficial prince to marry the princess of another country.

Akito is the current king and is trying to conquer all of the land either through war or through cut throat politics. Tohru and Kyo's arranged marriage was just to let the guards down of her kingdom so they can eventually take over. Akito was secretly raised as a boy as their mother, Ren, would have been a disgraced queen for giving a birth to a female. Much to their dismay once the Akito's father died the thrown didn't go to the queen but their "son". Ren regrets not owning their disgrace and purposely tries to get in the way of Akito's political advances. Including meddling in Kyo and Tohru's arrangement. Shigure is Akito's advisors that accidently discovered their true gender a long time ago unbeknownst to Akito. Shigure just goes along with Akito's plans because they are interesting and enjoys teasing and giving them a hard time. They truly want to take Akito way from the palace so they can live together happily and alone. One thing stands in his way, Akito's secret lover Kureno. Kureno is one of the servants that have been assigned to take care of Akito from a young age. Dressing them, batheing them, following their every whim. He is one of the few people authorized to know Akito is really a woman along with Hatori who is the palaces best doctor (no surprise there). Because Akito has no child, all of their cousins are in line for the throne after them. (Kyo, Yuki, ayame, momiji, Rin, and Kisa)

Ayame is one of the kingdoms best diplomats. He is part of the reason Akito has been able to conquer so much land. Ayame is just utterly convincing and manages to get other countries to hand over their land before they even know what he is talking about. Ayame has no whim to be a ruler himself and enjoys his travels and loves sharing stories. Secretly (not so secretly) his lover is the head maid. There are a lot of rumors circulating about him, including that one. But because there are so many rumors about him no one really knows which ones are true. Not even their brother Yuki knows the truth. Yuki is known for being the princely prince of princes and is the one with the most favor of taking the throne after Akito. Yuki has trained everyday to do so, he feels like a robot that only knows how to be a political prince, and feels very unauthentic. Tohru, his rival's fiance, is the first he feels comfort showing his true self to (though the first time was completely by accident). He considers her his first true friend. When he isn't busy with princely duties or talking to Tohru, he can be found in the gardens. He enjoys their calming beauty and have effortlessly authentic they can be. Over the next few weeks he notices the quality of the garden has gone down. He secretly investigates (as he would never hear the end of it if he was the one that through a fit over some flowers) and find that recently new Gardner's were hired, Machi and Kakeru. Kakeru typically slacks, does things half assed and makes Machi do all the work. Kakeru has the ability to make the garden gorgeous (which is why he was hired in the first place) but his sister doesn't have much experience so the result ends up being subpar. Yuki is upset and tries to talk reason into them. Kakeru is forced to put more effort in the garden and it improves immensely, Yuki learns more about how to keep a garden and finds it immensely interesting and secretly helps in his down time. While helping he gets closer to Machi who is still not the greatest assistant to Kakeru but she never expected to get to where they are now. He was always expected to take over so she was expected to run the fiance aspect but getting hired to do the palace through her out of her comfort zone which is why she isn't so good at gardening. As they learn they begin to fall in love. Also Kakeru was hired because some royals officials drive past his yard which looks like a beautiful garden which he passionately takes care of for his sick wife, Komaki.

Haru is Yuki's attendant and bodyguard. He deeply cares for Yuki and has a good relationship with him but because he is hired to take care of him Yuki doesn't consider him a friend while Haru does. It doesn't bug Haru though. Haru does what he is supposed to. Haru is also secretly involved with the Princess Isuzu. They met while Haru was on the job and kept running into each other when they were younger. Isuzu has always been treated awfully by the King and wishes that someone would assasinate them. Since it doesn't look to be the case she starts undergoing secret training at night so she can assassinate him. This is where she began to notice Haru, he would always catch her as she was sneaking out but let her anyway. It was there little secret. She thought he was weird, especially for letting her break the rules. Haru always said it's because he was only hired to keep track of Yuki so what she does has nothing to do with his work. She ends up falling for him despite knowing that if they are found out he could possibly be executed (because of her status and his job). She began to contemplate if she wants to go through with assassinating Akito because once she won't be able to be with Haru anymore.

Momiji is a prince that was a child of a past political marriage. Because of that he was able to live pretty freely. He is immediately drawn to Tohru and always tries to make her smile. He decides that he wants to be the one to marry her and causes mass chaos in the palace. Momiji's actions is what make Tohru realize that she does have feelings for Kyo and she does want to marry him. Ultimately momiji is rejected, he decides that he is going to sneak away from the palace to reconnect with the family he never knew in the country of his mom's birthplace. (His mom passed while he was young, rumored to have been an planned assassination by the past king, it wasn't. It was suicide as she ostracized by those at the palace and missed her real family.)

KISA is the youngest princess. She is there and no one really pays attention to her so she is really quiet and spends a lot of time reading in the library. The librarian has a son her age that often helps out at the library (Hiro) and he falls in love with her. He figures out which books she is reading and tries to finish them before she does so they can discuss them together. He really doesn't care too much for reading but he loves her smile and how animated she is when she talks about books. Which is the only time she is really animated.

Ritsu is the training to take over as the head for royal fashion. BUT Ritsu is very clumsy and makes a lot of mistakes. Usually everything ends up okay tho. They went to school with Kagura, a daughter of one of the most prominent noble families, and they use her as a model for works. Kagura always uses this as an excuse to go to the palace to see Kyo.

Hatori was hired into the palace as being one of the most prominent doctors of their country. He used to have a wife (Kana) but she was executed when she found out (not through Hatori) that Akito was actually a woman). Because she is an outsider and not an authorized person her existence was a threat. Akito charged her with treason because she found out and she was executed. Hatori only knows that she was charged with treason, not that she found out about Akito. They are hurt that someone so close to him would betray him and their country like that. He closes his heart off until he meets his medical assistant (Mayu). His assistant is supposed to work and learn from him so she can take back his skills and knowledge and teach it to the schools. She ends up finding out about Akito as well, through Shigure as a ploy to get Akito removed from the thrown. Hatori manages to save Mayu from the same date as Kana as he pieces together what is really happening. Mayu is authorized to live but she is not able to return to life outside the palace.

And things play out further from there... Welp if someone wants to write that for me please do.

OTP

This is really hard.

My favorite relationship is Kyoko/Katsuya because of how much it emotionally destroys me.

Otherwise my OTP is Kyoru with RinHaru (cowbell) in close second
